American Influence On Puritan Society
After the Protestant Reformation, a group practicing Puritanism left Great Britain to the Netherlands
for the ability to practice their religion freely. However, the Puritans did not favor the idea of their
children growing up outside of British influences despite having the privilege of freedom of religion.
In 1620, the first group of Puritan settlers sailed to North America aboard the Mayflower. It wasn t
until 1629 when John Winthrop delivered his city upon a hill sermon that created a new perspective
and goal for the growing Puritan society. Economic, political, and social difficulties were faced, but
religion stayed a constant center for the Puritan settlements. Both failures and successes molded the
Puritan settlement into what it was in the seventeenth century, which leads into the influences left by
the Puritans in today s society. Upon the ship Arabella, one of nine ships that transferred Puritans to
the New World, John Winthrop wrote his sermon titled A Model of Christian Charity . He delivered
this sermon to approximately nine hundred Puritans voyaging from the Netherlands ... Show more

Strict guidelines were placed to ensure order, the promise for each person reaching his or her own
predestination, and unity. The Puritans built a theocracy with elements from a democracy. Any man
was able to vote as he had a church membership, which was rare to not have in the early years of the
Puritan settlement. All members had to attend town meetings regardless of his or her social status.
More often than not, Sunday morning sermons in cooperated town meetings as the entire community
was in attendance anyways. While Puritan leaders were able to keep the majority of the population
content, few were displeased with the ways of the Puritans. Roger Williams was exiled from the
Massachusetts Bay Colony and purchased land from natives to form his own settlement, known today
as Rhode Island and others to Connecticut or

Traditional Models of Educational Research
How does engagement in teacher inquiry differ from traditional models of educational research, and
how does this difference compare with your initial interpretation of action research?
Traditional models of educational research have tended to view teachers and students as passive
subjects in the educational process. The process product model portrays teaching as a primarily linear
activity and depicts teachers as technicians... [In the model,] the teacher s role is to implement the
research findings of outside experts, almost exclusively university researchers, who are considered
alien to the everyday happenings in classrooms (Dana, n.d., 2). Today, teachers are increasingly called
upon to make a personal investment in educational research and can have an active role in shaping its
course. In general, the teacher inquiry movement focuses on the concerns of teachers (not outside
researchers) and engages teachers in the design, data collection, and interpretation of data around their
question (Dana, n.d., 4). The teacher inquiry model is also an improvement on anecdotal, qualitative
designs, where little empirical data was elicited from teachers. Results of research based in the teacher
inquiry model can be generalized to other contexts because they are data driven, but they also offer
personal interpretation from teachers in the field. What are some common assumptions the general
public holds about teaching and learning that you would like to see challenged? How can

The Culture At Nickelodeon, Crafted Carefully By Taran
The culture at Nickelodeon, crafted carefully by Taran Swan, was one that could be characterized as
creative, inclusive, heterarchical, and harmonious. Teamwork was of utmost importance in Swan s
Nickelodeon as well as reliability, so employees were able to communicate and work together, while
also focusing on delivering accurate individual contributions. Furthermore, the culture did not offer
preferential treatment to executive managers over lower level employees; instead, it followed a
heterarchical structure of treatment which generated a sense of equality and energized the workplace.
The inclusive nature of the culture was evidenced by what one department head said about their roles,
The whole team decided on these issues. We all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, Swan consistently asked questions to force her team members to think broadly about the
implications of their decisions to ensure that they visualize a bigger picture of the potential
consequences and to be able to think of alternatives ahead of time. Swan also encouraged the
individuality of the employees by setting different guidelines for the different focus groups she
established. This ensured that while these teams will collaborate and work together, they will still have
to work individually according to their own guidelines. Swan also emphasized the importance of
communication by leading bi monthly Update Meetings, rotating the meetings leadership based on the
feedback from an internal survey, and opening lines of communication with employees who were
having tensions with other members or who wanted to communicate with Swan directly.
3. Describe Swan s leadership style. What impact has it had on the culture? When assessing Swan s
leadership style, one cannot help but reference Ancona s four leadership capabilities. In the saturated
media market, Swan was quick to prioritize capturing attention and differentiating the brand in order
to convince affiliates and advertisers to choose Nickelodeon over the plethora of other channels.
Furthermore, she knew the importance of signing up advertisers ahead of time, even before there was
a channel, in order to seal the corporate approval. These

HBR Business Case Assignment
1. This case starts out in a lab that is located in a building that is operated by Crescordia. Crescordia is
a company that makes a range of products such as artificial hips and scalps but also is one of the few
companies that sell fixation devices. At the beginning of the case Crescordia holds a seminar for
orthopedic surgeons so they can better familiarize themselves with the products and procedures that
are needed when dealing with using these fixation plates. During this seminar the CEO Peter Walsh

A week later they had a meeting where Jane LaMott the vice president of sales was excited at the
prospect of putting resorbable s in their lineup of products while Chief marketer Diane Robinson was
completely of the opposite opinion and thought it would be a huge misstep to bring resorbable s as
part of their product line. Nothing was settled at this meeting. The next day Walsh had a meeting with
CFO Calvin Westbrook and asked him to weigh in on resorbable s. Calvin Westbrook also expressed
feelings of not having much faith in resorbable s and making it seem like there was no need to rush
into resorbable s. 2. There are many drivers of tensions related to Crescordia offering resorbable s to
the market. First off Crescordia is a company that is known for the quality of products they put out
and they have a reputation built on the fact that they only offer quality products. If they put resorbable
s on the market they would releasing a product that has a failure rate and would stain their reputation.
Also if they were to turn to resorbable s it would be a huge financial undertaking because they would
have to offer a wide range of resorbable s if they wanted to compete which would wouldn t reach
profitability if they didn t scale production. One idea was that they should offer a smaller range of

Copyrights of distribution of Dallas Buyers Club (DBC) v iiNet Limited case over infringement of
copyrights. They complain that their copyrights were infringed by 4726 internet users downloading
and then sharing their work via torrent websites without paying for the privilege. DBC LLC s, Voltage
Pictures, used a German based firm Macek Eye UG to find out users sharing the film using Bit Torrent
and found out 4,726 IP addresses. The case was filed before The Federal Court of Australia requesting
the personal details of the infringers linked to the IP addresses to 6 Internet Service Providers (ISP) to
recover the damages of copies download and upload by infringers.(DBC) wanted to recover the cost
of the purchase of a single copy of the film, for each copy download. A licence fee for each person

In April 2015, Justice Perram J considered the petition and passed a judgement to hand over the

Due to concerns about people receiving demands for large payments with treat of being sued by the

White Castle
Situation Analysis of White Castle Systems Inc.
Introduction
White Castle is known as the original fast food hamburger chain. The first White Castle opened it s
doors in Witchita, Kansas, in 1921. White Castle (WC) has since grown to 393 restaurants in 11 states
(White Castle hamburger..., 2004) and is now expanding internationally. By analysing White Castle s
internal strengths, internal weaknesses, external opportunities, and external threats, otherwise known
as a SWOT analysis (Kerin, 2005), Learning Team B was able to exam market demographics,
company needs, trends, and market forecast as they pertain to White Castle. During the SWOT

Hostesses dressed in elegant costumes instead of the usual White Castle uniforms seat couples at cloth
covered, candlelit tables while romantic music is played in the background. The promotion is not a
new invention. It debuted in St. Louis and Minneapolis about 16 years ago but was so popular it was
expanded to White Castles in other Midwestern cities last year. For duos on a budget, the evening cost
a whopping $6.05 for a 10 pack of the bite sized burgers and a small order of fries, leaving just
enough money in the bank for the requisite Valentines Day bouquet of flowers and box of chocolates.
Growth in competition in the fast food market The consumer is the driving force in any highly
competitive market, with his power growing ever stronger and becoming ingrained. The fast food
market is being fueled by the generation x and echo boomers running between work, soccer, dance
and other family activities with little time to spare for cooking at home. Today s consumer has more
choices in variety, nutrition and value than ever before. The minimum population growth currently
being experienced in the United States means that there is little new business to be had so it must be
taken from others (http://www.fmi.org/media/bg/FoodRetailing.pdf). In order to compete in the fast
food market White Castle will need to give the consumer what they want. Many customers today are
demanding healthier choices on menues, as well as

had such different friends, they ended up becoming separate people and experienced differing levels
of success in their lives. Most people form many of their friendships at school, but even outside of
friends, individuals education alters their mentalities. Without a doubt, actions like conquering
challenging subject matter and overcoming academic struggles cause some parts of this educational
effect, but one s teachers have some of the greatest influence in education. The instructor teaches with
a personal worldview, one which will incidentally impact the students. For example, some private
schools teach the religion of Christianity, where a living God designed the universe, while public
schools are required to teach the religion of evolution, where everything exists due to a chance clash
of lifeless chemicals. This disparity in beliefs about the universe s origin fosters strongly opposing
ideas about topics such as morals and the meaning of life that are fundamental to how a person
decides to handle any given situation. The teacher can also inspire a growth or a fixed mindset in
students. Psychology professor Carol Dweck invented this idea of

Analysis Of The Body By Stephen King
In the short story, The Body, written by Stephen King, various life lessons are evident in the adventure
the four main characters have. The life lessons chosen by the author are reflective of life lessons that
could be learned by the reader, and life lessons that are not always vocalized. In Stephen King s The
Body, the group of young boys learn many different life lessons including family not always being
trustworthy, some things should be kept to yourself, and that friends, even best friends, can split up.
The main characters all have unique, yet abusive, relationships with their families. As said in the
introductory paragraph, this choice made by Stephen King was incredibly important and wise to make
because especially in the sixties, which is when the story takes place, it was a common occurrence that
was often overlooked. One of the most evident life lessons in the story was that relatives should not
get a free pass to hurt each other. The character Teddy s relationship with his father was overlooked,
exclusively by Teddy himself, Teddy s dad took Teddy over to the big woodstove at the back of the
kitchen and shoved the side of Teddy s head down against one of the cast iron burner plates . Teddy
had a lot of respect for the father for the soul reason that he is his father. If it was not for the fact that
Teddy s father messed him up physically and mentally for life, Teddy would treat the person with a lot
less respect and nobility. Despite that his father only

Ice Breaker Acitivity
BLOW WIND BLOW
For this icebreaker game you ll need to set up your chairs in a circle facing inwards. Make sure there
is one less chair than there are players.
Select one player to start off in the middle. They must begin by calling out Blow wind blow . The rest
of the group must respond blow what? Then the middle player can say some kind of conditional
statement like everyone with red hair or everyone not wearing shoes . All the players that fit into that
category must get up and switch chairs with another player. This allows a chance for the middle player
to steal a chair also. Once everyone has finished switching as quickly as possible, there will be one
player left stuck in the middle. Then the process repeats!

This is a high energy activity, so it is very important to keep safety in mind. Yes, pool noodles are soft
and generally won t hurt someone, but a pool noodle in the eye or mouth sucks. So, setting parameters
on where you can hit someone with the pool noodle before the game starts is a good idea. Also,
anyone who doesn t physically feel comfortable jumping or ducking should opt out of that part of the
activity.

stare directly at the face of another person. If two people look up and stare at each other, they must
scream and then step out of the circle. The rest of the participants who didn t make eye contact with
another person will continue staring until the facilitator says, Look down again. Play continues until
there are only 2 3 people left in the circle.

Visibility And Consistency Of Social Media
Visibility and Consistency
I was facilitating a social media workshop for a writers group in Richmond, Virginia called Agile
Writers and a gentleman raised his hand. He was working on writing a book however his book wasn t
out yet. He said to me, My book is not out and I don t have anything to sell, so I m not on Facebook or
social media yet. I m waiting until my book comes out. Is that wrong? I answered his question with
my favorite quote by H. Jackson Brown, Opportunity only dances with those already on the dance
floor. You see, you must already be on the dance floor ladies and gentlemen. Opportunity is not going
to come pull you off the sideline, you have to already be there. You can do this by being visible and

You want to hang out there first and establish presence on Facebook, but the tips and strategies I will
share really apply to any of the social media sites that you re hanging out on. Number one, branding is
largely about visibility and consistency. How visible are you and how consistent are you when we see
you? You want to show up on a consistent basis on all of the social media sites that you have elected
to play in the sandbox on, okay? You can t just post one thing and then disappear for two weeks and
you don t post anything else about your business, your product or your service and then say this ain t
working. No, ladies and gentlemen, you have to put some consistency in to posting on social media.
When we say consistency, let me take Facebook for an example. If you re in promotion mode, and
there s something that you want to get attention on or you want to attract clients or supporters, you
really need to be posting one to five times a day. That s right, one to five times a day is what you need
to be doing on Facebook to help you have that consistency. It also plays a role into the visibility. You
want to be posting at different times during the day. Why? Because those that are friends followers of
yours and those that have clicked like on your business page, hang out on Facebook at different time,
so you

How Important Is Having A Clear Process
How important is having a clear process in regards to informing a design outcome?
Setting up progressive goals and rules helps a designer in making everything more clearly and
efficiently, so as to achieve the anticipated and satisfactory design outcome. What designers need to do
is to first provide a rudimentary design map, covering different small processes, explaining what are
their specific operations as well as their importance in contributing to the final outcome. Secondly,
designers need to follow these preset processes, assuring each step is correctly followed. But on top of
that, they could definitely add in some spontaneous and creative personal ideas during the
implementation of the plan, which will hopefully make the project more like their own s, other than a
robotic, emotionless work.
In the first place, having a clear process enables designers to understand the concepts in greater depth.
This could later facilitate and guide the development and implementation of design projects. To
comprehend the topics, designers need to define the meanings of the topics, outline related fields and
think about the project purposes.
Our group was assigned to the topic boundaries (Bruce studio), which required us to determine and
understand the criteria in deciding whether an area is bound or unbound . To start with, we viewed
boundary as the line between the space we live inside and outside. We developed a model and used
light to illuminate the model in order to

The Proposal Of The Dover Area School District
In cases having to do with constitutionality, the issue of the separation of church and state arises with
marked frequency. This battle, which has raged since the nation?s founding, touches the very heart of
the United States public, and pits two of the country s most important influences of public opinion
against one another. Although some material containing religious content has found its way into many
of the nation s public schools, its inclusion stems from its contextual and historical importance, which
is heavily supported by material evidence and documentation. It often results from a teacher?s own
decision, rather than from a decision handed down from above by a higher power. The proposal of the

If approved, the bill would require intelligent design to be taught alongside any evolutionary theory in
order to present an ?explanation of the origin of life that differs from Darwin?s view?. Additionally, it
would require a statement to be read that expresses doubts about Darwinist theories (Baksa 1).
The Court is now confronted with the responsibility of determining if Dover?s proposition, and the
implications of its implementation are constitutional, or whether they would violate fundamental
personal freedoms. In order to make its decision, the court must contemplate many facets of the issue,
including: if the religious origins of intelligent design permeate the theory too strongly, if teaching
I.D. in schools would violate statutes regarding state funding for public schools, and even if the theory
provides sufficient factual scientific evidence to be taught as a scientific theory in a school?s biology
curriculum.
Case law supporting the absence of the instruction of intelligent design theory from secular, public
education cites several main grounds for exclusion, including the unconstitutionality of ?sponsorship,
financial support, and active involvement of the sovereign in religious activity? [397 U.S. 664].
The 1987 case Edwards v. Aguillard requires any religiously related instruction to have ?a clear
secular purpose? [482 U.S. 578]. The legislation addressed in this case?the Creationism

The philosophy I chose was Enlightened Self‐Interest. According to the book is not being selfish. The
author provided an example of what was the philosophy of Enlightened Self‐Interest. That would be
when young siblings angrily dispute who owns what, a parent will remind them not to fight. Instead,
they are urged to share. In school, children are taught to obey rules, not to be selfish, and to cooperate
with others. Public praise for philanthropy reminds us that charity is good that acting out of self‐

I agree with the court system. If this is the most human way of doing things and other ways have been

they should be sentenced to death because then they re not leeching off the system for 3 hot meals a

I Agree with everything the courts are saying the government doesn t like death penalty as much as the

It may be some new element or a new way of tapping the energy. Space is a place that is indeed

that space exploration and space technology is something that requires massive funds. If the

Controversial Benefits Of Maternity And Paternity Leave
Maternity and Paternity leave are controversial benefits that only some working men and women
across the world receive. The length or payment of maternity and paternity leave depends on the
country or even the company the employee works in. Most working people are completely for
maternity and paternity leave, because it allows for families to adapt to and care for the new baby in
their home. In general, people against maternity and paternity leave claim it is bad for businesses and
the economy in general. Maternity and paternity leave are times when employees leave work to

Murphy makes a case stating these leaves simply hurt women. Murphy s main points are that
maternity leave is bad for business, because it is too expensive for them, and bad for women, because
companies will not want to hire or promote women if they have to go without them for months and
pay them for that time away. The K and K article claims essentially the same things about maternity
leave, but both are misleading. First, maternity leave is not bad for businesses, because, as shown in
the study by Arnarson et al., parental leaves actually promote work productivity and leads to more
women joining the workforce overall. Secondly, it is against the law, in the United States and many
other countries, for companies to not hire somebody, because they are a woman or because they are
pregnant. Therefore, that argument is completely insignificant anyway. Most arguments against
parental leave are not applicable or are incorrect, as shown by all of the studies mentioned

Lewis Life Span Observation
On October 5, 2016, our Life Span Development class had the opportunity to observe the physical,
cognitive, and social development of Lewis, a three month old male infant. The observation was
conducted at Dordt College in Room CL 1143 and the infant s parent consented to participate in the
live observation. From the instant that Lewis and his mother walked into the classroom, the pair
exemplified Santrock s concept of bonding (Santrock, 2014). The front facing carrier sling allowed the
infant to benefit from the physical contact of being secured against his mother s chest. The carrying

Lewis didn t show any signs of a reflexive or a social smile during the observation, but his mother said
that he is easily able to giggle in response to external stimuli in various forms (Santrock, 2014). Lewis
is exposed to ample stimuli for social development that not all infants his age have the opportunity to
be experienced by like he does. This factor comes in the form of his lifestyle with two older siblings,
as described by Santrock on page 179 (Santrock, 2014). Birth order might be a strong predictor of
behavior, contributing to why Lewis s temperament was described as extremely laid back, a quality
that wasn t as prevalent in his other siblings (Santrock, 2014, p. 179). Perhaps because of his naturally
high exposure to social stimuli, Lewis displayed a healthy reaction to the Strange Situation, defined by
Santrock as, a measure of infant attachment in which the infant experiences a series of introductions,
separations, and reunions with the caregiver. When Lewis s mother handed him to a student, thus
causing an object permanence discrepancy in which his mother disappeared and he was abruptly
exposed to a stranger, Lewis still remained calmly

The Differences Between Renewable And Renewable Energy
There are many different energy sources out there today, both renewable and nonrenewable energy
sources. Renewable energy is energy sources that can be replenished over the course of time. Non
renewable energy is energy that will not be replenished over a long period of time (it can take up to
300 360 million years to recreate. (Tiwari, 2011, p.11)). By 2035, nonrenewable won t be able to be
used, or will it? Will renewable energy be sufficient than nonrenewable energy in the future, it now?
The most common nonrenewable energy source is fossil fuels. Fossil fuels include coal, petroleum,
and natural gas. All of these gases contain carbon in them, which hints why it takes longer to be
formed. It s very harmful to the environment because of that reason, they release carbon dioxide into
the atmosphere and also increases global warming. When these gases are burned they release
pollutants into the air, land, and water (Tiwari, 2011, p.4). Fossil fuels are very inexpensive to extract
and are easily stored and sold around the world. Venezuela is one of the biggest oil production places
and their country depends on it economically.
Another example of a nonrenewable energy includes nuclear energy. Although, the production of
nuclear energy is the renewable energy source, the materials used to create it is not. Nuclear energy is
created by splitting or fusing uranium atoms (nuclear fission/fusion) and produces electrical energy. It
also produces radioactive waste, which is very

The Cold War Of 1945-1991
So be it
Will the United States or the Soviet Union continue propaganda or resort to an attack? Many
democracies across the world like North America, Western Europe, Japan grew in prosperity after
World War II ended. The United States became the world s wealthiest and most powerful country.
These democracies rivaled the United States economically. The United States and the Soviet Union
had many differences that didn t cause a full fled war, but a quiet, propaganda and secretive filled war
that pushed both to the edge. This was known as the Cold War of 1945 1991. The main causes of the
war were sphere of influence, Ideology, and military factors. The contradiction of who threw the first
punch still occurs today; in this case, the Soviets were most responsible for the Cold War because of
the, Iron Curtain speech, fears of the West, and the spread of communism. In conclusion, despite the
evidence that supports the United States, the Soviet Union was most responsible for the Cold War. In
the Iron Curtain Speech given by Winston Churchill gave in Fulton that describes his perspective of
how the Soviets were no longer trusted. Churchill said that Stalin hadn t fulfilled his promise to have

Mother Tongue By Demetria Martinez
As the words of our founding fathers, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is the American dream
that many pursue, whether immigrated to the United States or born here. Within Demetria Martinez s
book, Mother Tongue, a novel, the character named Jose Luis flees from El Salvador to the United
States in order to escape it s brutal civil war. His choice to flee El Salvador and enter the United States
under a false name places him in a difficult situation, both in his moral abandonment of his home
country El Salvador, and for crossing the United States border illegally. The position of Jose Luis can
be dissected into the need for borders, the asylum process into the U.S., the reason why politicians
reject immigration, and the potential ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Victor Davis Hanson, a columnist for the Los Angeles Times , writes in his opinion piece, Borders are
to distinct countries what fences are to neighbors, [a] means of demarcating that something on one
side is different from what lies on the other side..., [ it] is impossible [distinguish physical space]
unless it is seen and can be so understood as distinct and separate. Therefore, without a country s
borders it would be difficult to define where a country s jurisdiction begins and ends, who is
constituted as a citizen, and who is granted its legal rights. There are of course exceptions to this such
as the border between Canada and the U.S. or the European Union, both of which have porous
borders, allowing for easy travel between the two with often little to no physical barriers.
According to the U.S. travel page, entry into Canada will ...[R]equire that all persons entering Canada
carry both proof of citizenship and proof of identity. A valid U.S. passport, passport card, or NEXUS
card satisfies these requirements for U.S. citizens. A border defines the countries limits of powers and
influences. Logically you can t just walk in in to a nation, regardless of how open the borders appear.
If a citizen leaves to reside within another, things such as taxes or laws would be impossible to
regulate to its citizens as it becomes unclear who truly is a citizen. However, many citizens are often
left with no choice but to migrate as their homelands become

Four Major Sects Of Judaism Essay
Judaism of the second temple period, from the fifth century BC to the first century AD, is key to
understanding Jesus life and work (Wenham Walton, 2011, p. 25). Maintaining their identity, socially
and religiously, was intrinsic to their existence after their release from captivity. Core beliefs and
practices remained, but over time, varying understandings of how to live out their faith life became
evident among various groups. This essay will define the purpose of the synagogue in 1st century of
Judaism, describe the characteristics and beliefs of four major sects of Judaism, and describe their
expectations regarding the coming of the Messiah.
The purpose of the synagogue was a meeting place for worship that focused primarily on reading of
the Torah and prayer. During the time of the Babylonian exile, temple worship was not possible. ...

attributed to the Jewish War from 66 AD forward who were committed to violent revolution against

A number of pieces of literature exist that coincide with the awaited messiah as noted above. The
Pharisees anticipated a messiah of earthly king stature, and militarily he may purge Jerusalem from
nations that trample her down [Pss Sol. 17:23f] (Wenham Walton, 2011, p. 38). However, the Essenes

law to walk in the stubbornness of their hearts (...) until there shall come the Prophet and the Messiahs
of Aaron and Israel [1QS 9:10f] (Wenham Walton, 2011, p. 38).

Poverty In Ohio Region Analysis
I. Introduction Poverty is about not having enough money to meet basic needs including food, clothing
and shelter ( What is Poverty, 2016). In the United States, there are 45 million Americans are living in
poverty ( 45 Million Americans, 2014). In order to determine if one is living in poverty, the United
States Census Bureau has established a poverty line that they then measure, according to the
individual s income and their family size ( Poverty Thresholds, 2016; Poorest Cities in America,
2016). Since the recession in 2008, many states have seen a rise of families living in poverty. Poverty

Essay On The Fall Of The Roman Empire
The Fall of Roman Empire
A empire can only last so long that it eventually falls apart. Roman Empire is known to be one of the
largest empire to ever exist. It is unbelievable to human eyes, how far it expanded. It was stretched
from Africa to Europe towards the Middle East. It was only possible through roman military power
expansion. They found it easy to conquer their neighbor and take their resources. Because the empire
was big, romans found it hard to communicate and organize. Later on, it was split in half by
Diocletian later known as western and eastern roman empire. When talked about the fall of the Roman
Empire its only the fall of the western empire empire, eastern last another thousand years. The main

Rome once known as Roman Republic changed the path on how to rule their vast empire. Ernst
argues, the transformation of Roman government from what we may term a democracy to a
legitimized dictatorship . The start of monarchy was with the emperor Octavian also known as
Augustus Caesar. This emperor took control to improve the broken empire seized sole control of the
state after the Battle of Actium in 31 B.C.E. and succeeded in re establishing an autocratic form of
government (Ernst). The republic which rome had shown dominant over centuries had ended and a
new way had started. In result, the consolidation of power in the person of the emperor led to a
reduction of incentives for others (Ernst). When a king rules, he overrules all the authority and implies
all the polices in his favor without acknowledging feelings of other people. Unlike now(monarchy),
each branch of power was well balanced; the monarchic element represented by the power of the
consuls, the aristocratic element by the Senate, and the democratic element by the power of the people
to elect officeholders and by their important role in the law courts as jurors (Ernst). Citizens lost faith,
when the people did not benefit from the emperor who was in power to fulfill the needs of his citizens.
Soon, the communication between the government and the people also got lost. As situation got out of
hand, the core connection which the empire had had fallen

How Does Shakespeare Present The Nature Of Love In Twelfth...
Shakespeare s ability to portray the universal nature of the human condition is at its most accessible in
Twelfth Night. The compelling prominence of love entertains and engages the audience because of its
complex and dynamic nature. The interpersonal relationships in the context of social hierarchies are
explored through the disguise motif, the folly of ambition and love as a cause of suffering. The
complications that arise when social norms are subverted, lead to the characters facing adversity,
which offers insight into human behaviour.
Shakespeare explores the timelessness of love through the exploration of romantic relationships
between characters of different social statuses, ranging from Duke Orsino to Olivia s servant
Malvolio. Love ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Malvolio, a Puritan, is in constant pursuit of greater authority and a higher status in the social
hierarchy of Illyria. He fantasises about being Olivia s husband, even though he is not in love with her,
but knows that the man she marries will hold power. In Malvolio s soliloquy, the rhetorical
exclamation To be Count Malvolio! , elucidates that Malvolio s intentions are purely for the means of
authority, and explores his excessive self obsession and ambition to advance in the social class. As the
play progresses, Malvolio s dignity becomes his downfall as he is manipulated by a forged love letter
from Maria pretending to be Olivia. Believing the letter is real, Malvolio wears attire that is
contrasting to his usual serious demeanor in the form of yellow stockings . This imagery reveals the
ridiculous extremes Malvolio will go to, in order to pursue his aspirations, and the dramatic irony adds
to the comedic nature of Malvolio s foolish behaviour. As a consequence of his humiliation, Malvolio
s vanity becomes his weakness and his reputation compromised, which all but concludes his hopes for

Remittance In Haiti
Remittance occurs when an expatriate sends funds to their country of origin. It provides an outside
source of income for the country while forcing citizens to look for jobs outside of these
underdeveloped nations. Investopedia mentions the importance of this to the economic development
of countries by stating that in 2014 $583 billion in USD was transferred between countries, $436
Billion in USD was transferred was received by developing countries (Investopedia, 2005). This fact
demonstrates how the emergence of remittance with globalization has opened up developing countries
to new economic opportunities. Haiti has become a key example of how a country has become reliable

Definition Essay On Hook Up
Hook up, according to dictionary.com is an instance of people meeting, communicating, or
cooperating. The phrase hook up has a wide variety of meanings throughout different generations and
different locations/cultures. The definition most people in high school or college understand from
Urbandictionary.com is to make out with someone, or to have sex with someone. Because the phrase
can be used in many different contexts, there is a lot of misunderstanding as to which definition is
being referred to. There is no universal definition, so when encountering people of different ages or

Most teenagers can agree that hooking up with someone refers to having some form of a sexual
relationship. However, it is extremely unclear what the extent of the relationship is, whether it means
to kiss someone or to have sex with someone. The fact that the definition is not universally understood
can lead to rumors being spread and give people bad reputations. A friend of mine, named Nicole,
went to college and would tell her friend, Sarah, who is from a different state, about a few of the boys
she kissed but used the phrase, hook up. When Nicole said I hooked up with this guys at the party last
night, Sarah assumed that when she said hooked up she meant that she had sex with the boys, and
started looking at Nicole in a negative way. Sarah started telling other girls that Nicole was a slut and
got around. Nicole comes from a city where hook up means to kiss someone, but Sarah comes from a
city where it means to have sex. It can be extremely dangerous, especially in college, to use this
phrase without providing specific context, because people make assumptions based on their own
definition of the

Social Injustice Book Review
Social Injustice Book Review
Injustice: why social inequality persists, by Daniel Dorling.
The main aim of this book is to help re define injustice but first we must ask ourselves what is social
justice? As defined by (Walker, 1999, p.9). Social justice is mutual responsibility it insists that we all
accept duties as well as rights to each other and to society .
Dorling s book focuses on 5 main causes of injustice in todays modern world and how these 5 causes
have changed in comparison to what they were in the past. The path to a better future, these contend,
lies in a better understanding and appreciation of how the injustices of the past affect patterns of
oppression today (Spinner Halev, 2012, p.4). What was once seen as unfortunate many years ago has
now become what s known as unjust . Dorling does an excellent job of explaining what these 5 tenants
of injustice are and he does so in an easy to understand language whilst giving us examples of how
these 5 tenants have changed to prior years. Each tenant both past and present is briefly explained to
us in the introduction of the book, but Dorling delves deeper into each tenant in such greater detail in
later chapters. Each chapter shows us how these tenants affect/have affected certain domains within
our society.
These new tenants/faces of injustice nowadays are stated as: Elitism, Exclusion, Prejudice, Greed and
Despair. Old evils/faces that were once said to cause social injustice were due to a lack of: Education
(ignorance), Money (want) Work (idleness) Comfort (squalor) and Health (disease).
Dorling points out that while many people say they don t agree with these beliefs or claim to reject
them, are often at times the ones to uphold ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Code Of Life And The Human Genome
As was said in the beginning of the video, the ultimate achievement that one can make scientifically is
to look at our own human genome, or instruction book if you will, and try to figure out what it is
telling us, what it reads. This began happening in the late 1990s, to 2000s, when people began diving
deeper into what DNA really tells us. In a sense, we have found the key to unlock, or crack, the code
of life, and this is also the key to diagnosing and curing genetically transmitted diseases. This key is
what the Human Genome Project searched to find, and what Cracking the Code of Life is all about. A
single message, which we call DNA, has been passed down from the very first microscopic organism
all the way to us today. It travels in a continuous thread that flows through all living things, and is the
secret of all life. This message within all of us is made up of four nitrogen bases, Guanine (G),
Thymine (T), Cytosine (C), and Adenine (A), which are connected in a double helix, which looks like
a twisted ladder. These bases come in pairs, as G connects with C, and A with T, and the order of these
base pairs is what creates the variance we see in every organism today. There are approximately 3
billion base pairs in the human genome, but only about 30,000 are actually our genes. However, one
wrong letter out of 3 billion can cause extreme various in humans To put this into perspective, every
human body is 99.9% identical in its genetic code. That means that .01% of

Comparing The Road Less Traveled And The Road Not Taken
The song by Lauren Alaina, Road Less Traveled is connected to the poem The Road Not Taken
written by Robert Frost. The poem and the songs are connected through the words and how they are
represented. Both songs are speaking about taking the road that would not get traveled on as much.
Within the poem and the song, I found four connections to each other. The first connection in The
Road Not Taken was And be one traveler, long I stood and looked down one as far as I could to where
it bent in the undergrowth . This was connected to the line in the song Why do you keep on staring? .
They are connected because the man in the poem is standing in front of both of the paths staring at
them trying to decide which one he should go down. The second connection was in The Road Not
Taken in the lines where the man says, Because it was grassy and ... Show more content on

on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back . These lines are connected to the song when she says
So don t hold back and just run it because the man in the poem is hesitating if he should continue to
take the less traveled road or the other one that was almost the same. Lauren Alaina is telling people to
not be afraid and keep going on in life, just as he does in the poem. The fourth and final connection
between the poem and the song are when Robert Frost wrote, I took the one less traveled by, and that
has made all the difference . In Lauren Alaina s song Road Less Traveled the connection is Don t be
afraid, take the road less traveled . They are connected because in the end they both are talking about

Cultural Expectations In Marge Piercy s Barbie Doll
The ideal that society thrives on creating expected images for women is constantly argued against.
Many disagree with the idea that society can place expectations for what is beautiful, now saying
things such as chunky is hunky or that men love curves . In reality, the standards are still set. For
example, with American magazines audiences are infatuated by the image of perfect beauty and
female sexuality (Hanjani 310). In Marge Piercy s Barbie Doll , Piercy exemplifies the effects of
society s standards on a growing adolescent girl. Piercy uses the symbolism of the poem and repetition
of one line to amplify how society s cultural expectations control the aspects of an individual s life,
especially the lives of young women. Piercy begins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now, the audience follows the girl to her death. The tone turned completely around from pleasant and
was filled with remorse. The girl finally decides to take it upon herself to get rid of her flaws; So she
cut off her nose and her legs and offered them up. (Piercy, 604). Finally, the girl was perfect.
Following these lines, the girl is laid in a casket at her funeral, and many of her peers now come
around and express how truly beautiful she was. The title, Barbie doll, is fitting with this portion of the
poem. The casket was not just a casket. Instead, it acted as a Barbie Box, one that showed of the
contents of its perfect package. However, it wasn t truly the girl that was represented in the box.
Instead, she was made up to perfection, her nose was now a turned up putty nose (Piercy, 604), and
she had mountains of makeup caked onto her face. It was only now that society accepted the girl, she
had met their standards at last. The girl represents the death of everyone as well, with her death,
everyone now supported her. The casket, girl, and her death all symbolize the events that unfold with
most female death. A female is glorified on her death

What Are The Conditions Necessary To Pass An Ordinance
Article 123 and 213 of the Indian Constitution grant the President and the Governor the ordinance
making powers respectively. Ordinarily the Parliament is responsible for the law making process, but
the makers of the Constitution though considering Ordinances to be a necessary evil , hold that the
Ordinance making power should be delegated to the Executive to deal with such situations when the
existing law is not enough to deal with the aroused situation and the Parliament is not in session. This
extraordinary power is given to them when both Houses of the Parliament or State Legislature are not
in session and the President or the Governor is satisfied that circumstances exist which render it
necessary for him to take immediate action. The conditions necessary to pass an ordinance are a)both
the houses should not be in session, b) The President or the Governor is satisfied that such conditions
exist that make it necessary for him to pass the ordinance. Ordinance is just like any other Act and has
the same force but it ceases to exist if both houses of the Parliament or the State Legislature pass a
resolution against it. It also ceases to exist if it is not replaced by an Act within six weeks of
reassembly of the Parliament or the State Legislature. This method of issuing an ordinance has been
devised with a view to enable the executive to meet any unexpected or urgent situation arising in the
Country when Parliament is not in session, and which it cannot deal with

  • 2. American Influence On Puritan Society After the Protestant Reformation, a group practicing Puritanism left Great Britain to the Netherlands for the ability to practice their religion freely. However, the Puritans did not favor the idea of their children growing up outside of British influences despite having the privilege of freedom of religion. In 1620, the first group of Puritan settlers sailed to North America aboard the Mayflower. It wasn t until 1629 when John Winthrop delivered his city upon a hill sermon that created a new perspective and goal for the growing Puritan society. Economic, political, and social difficulties were faced, but religion stayed a constant center for the Puritan settlements. Both failures and successes molded the Puritan settlement into what it was in the seventeenth century, which leads into the influences left by the Puritans in today s society. Upon the ship Arabella, one of nine ships that transferred Puritans to the New World, John Winthrop wrote his sermon titled A Model of Christian Charity . He delivered this sermon to approximately nine hundred Puritans voyaging from the Netherlands ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Strict guidelines were placed to ensure order, the promise for each person reaching his or her own predestination, and unity. The Puritans built a theocracy with elements from a democracy. Any man was able to vote as he had a church membership, which was rare to not have in the early years of the Puritan settlement. All members had to attend town meetings regardless of his or her social status. More often than not, Sunday morning sermons in cooperated town meetings as the entire community was in attendance anyways. While Puritan leaders were able to keep the majority of the population content, few were displeased with the ways of the Puritans. Roger Williams was exiled from the Massachusetts Bay Colony and purchased land from natives to form his own settlement, known today as Rhode Island and others to Connecticut or ... • 3. Traditional Models of Educational Research How does engagement in teacher inquiry differ from traditional models of educational research, and how does this difference compare with your initial interpretation of action research? Traditional models of educational research have tended to view teachers and students as passive subjects in the educational process. The process product model portrays teaching as a primarily linear activity and depicts teachers as technicians... [In the model,] the teacher s role is to implement the research findings of outside experts, almost exclusively university researchers, who are considered alien to the everyday happenings in classrooms (Dana, n.d., 2). Today, teachers are increasingly called upon to make a personal investment in educational research and can have an active role in shaping its course. In general, the teacher inquiry movement focuses on the concerns of teachers (not outside researchers) and engages teachers in the design, data collection, and interpretation of data around their question (Dana, n.d., 4). The teacher inquiry model is also an improvement on anecdotal, qualitative designs, where little empirical data was elicited from teachers. Results of research based in the teacher inquiry model can be generalized to other contexts because they are data driven, but they also offer personal interpretation from teachers in the field. What are some common assumptions the general public holds about teaching and learning that you would like to see challenged? How can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Culture At Nickelodeon, Crafted Carefully By Taran The culture at Nickelodeon, crafted carefully by Taran Swan, was one that could be characterized as creative, inclusive, heterarchical, and harmonious. Teamwork was of utmost importance in Swan s Nickelodeon as well as reliability, so employees were able to communicate and work together, while also focusing on delivering accurate individual contributions. Furthermore, the culture did not offer preferential treatment to executive managers over lower level employees; instead, it followed a heterarchical structure of treatment which generated a sense of equality and energized the workplace. The inclusive nature of the culture was evidenced by what one department head said about their roles, The whole team decided on these issues. We all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, Swan consistently asked questions to force her team members to think broadly about the implications of their decisions to ensure that they visualize a bigger picture of the potential consequences and to be able to think of alternatives ahead of time. Swan also encouraged the individuality of the employees by setting different guidelines for the different focus groups she established. This ensured that while these teams will collaborate and work together, they will still have to work individually according to their own guidelines. Swan also emphasized the importance of communication by leading bi monthly Update Meetings, rotating the meetings leadership based on the feedback from an internal survey, and opening lines of communication with employees who were having tensions with other members or who wanted to communicate with Swan directly. 3. Describe Swan s leadership style. What impact has it had on the culture? When assessing Swan s leadership style, one cannot help but reference Ancona s four leadership capabilities. In the saturated media market, Swan was quick to prioritize capturing attention and differentiating the brand in order to convince affiliates and advertisers to choose Nickelodeon over the plethora of other channels. Furthermore, she knew the importance of signing up advertisers ahead of time, even before there was a channel, in order to seal the corporate approval. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A week later they had a meeting where Jane LaMott the vice president of sales was excited at the prospect of putting resorbable s in their lineup of products while Chief marketer Diane Robinson was completely of the opposite opinion and thought it would be a huge misstep to bring resorbable s as part of their product line. Nothing was settled at this meeting. The next day Walsh had a meeting with CFO Calvin Westbrook and asked him to weigh in on resorbable s. Calvin Westbrook also expressed feelings of not having much faith in resorbable s and making it seem like there was no need to rush into resorbable s. 2. There are many drivers of tensions related to Crescordia offering resorbable s to the market. First off Crescordia is a company that is known for the quality of products they put out and they have a reputation built on the fact that they only offer quality products. If they put resorbable s on the market they would releasing a product that has a failure rate and would stain their reputation. • 9. Analysis Of The Body By Stephen King In the short story, The Body, written by Stephen King, various life lessons are evident in the adventure the four main characters have. The life lessons chosen by the author are reflective of life lessons that could be learned by the reader, and life lessons that are not always vocalized. In Stephen King s The Body, the group of young boys learn many different life lessons including family not always being trustworthy, some things should be kept to yourself, and that friends, even best friends, can split up. The main characters all have unique, yet abusive, relationships with their families. As said in the introductory paragraph, this choice made by Stephen King was incredibly important and wise to make because especially in the sixties, which is when the story takes place, it was a common occurrence that was often overlooked. One of the most evident life lessons in the story was that relatives should not get a free pass to hurt each other. The character Teddy s relationship with his father was overlooked, exclusively by Teddy himself, Teddy s dad took Teddy over to the big woodstove at the back of the kitchen and shoved the side of Teddy s head down against one of the cast iron burner plates . • 12. How Important Is Having A Clear Process How important is having a clear process in regards to informing a design outcome? Setting up progressive goals and rules helps a designer in making everything more clearly and efficiently, so as to achieve the anticipated and satisfactory design outcome. What designers need to do is to first provide a rudimentary design map, covering different small processes, explaining what are their specific operations as well as their importance in contributing to the final outcome. Secondly, designers need to follow these preset processes, assuring each step is correctly followed. But on top of that, they could definitely add in some spontaneous and creative personal ideas during the implementation of the plan, which will hopefully make the project more like their own s, other than a robotic, emotionless work. In the first place, having a clear process enables designers to understand the concepts in greater depth. This could later facilitate and guide the development and implementation of design projects. To comprehend the topics, designers need to define the meanings of the topics, outline related fields and think about the project purposes. Our group was assigned to the topic boundaries (Bruce studio), which required us to determine and understand the criteria in deciding whether an area is bound or unbound . The Court is now confronted with the responsibility of determining if Dover?s proposition, and the implications of its implementation are constitutional, or whether they would violate fundamental personal freedoms. • 27. How Does Walt Use Racism In Gran Torino Moreover, in Gran Torino Walt is a Korean War veteran with prejudices towards other races and ethnicities. He isolates himself from others and has a disconnection with his family who are different from Walt s more traditional way of life. Despite his loneliness and prejudices he lives in a predominately lower class Hmong neighborhood. The audience first sees Walt act out against his neighbors during the wake for his wife when a boy, Thao, asks to borrow jumper cables. Walt immediately lashes out at the boy purely for being part of the Hmong culture. This boy then sneaks into Walt s garage in an attempt to steal his Gran Torino which almost results in the loss of Thao s life. Immediately this deepens Walt s contempt and hatred for the Hmong community. However, knowing little about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The phrase hook up has a wide variety of meanings throughout different generations and different locations/cultures. The definition most people in high school or college understand from Urbandictionary.com is to make out with someone, or to have sex with someone. Because the phrase can be used in many different contexts, there is a lot of misunderstanding as to which definition is being referred to. There is no universal definition, so when encountering people of different ages or different cultures it is important to make sure you provide clear context. It is very clear that the older adult generation defines the term hook up exactly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most teenagers can agree that hooking up with someone refers to having some form of a sexual relationship. However, it is extremely unclear what the extent of the relationship is, whether it means to kiss someone or to have sex with someone. The fact that the definition is not universally understood can lead to rumors being spread and give people bad reputations. A friend of mine, named Nicole, went to college and would tell her friend, Sarah, who is from a different state, about a few of the boys she kissed but used the phrase, hook up. When Nicole said I hooked up with this guys at the party last night, Sarah assumed that when she said hooked up she meant that she had sex with the boys, and started looking at Nicole in a negative way. Sarah started telling other girls that Nicole was a slut and got around. Nicole comes from a city where hook up means to kiss someone, but Sarah comes from a city where it means to have sex. It can be extremely dangerous, especially in college, to use this phrase without providing specific context, because people make assumptions based on their own definition of the ... • 31. Social Injustice Book Review Social Injustice Book Review Injustice: why social inequality persists, by Daniel Dorling. The main aim of this book is to help re define injustice but first we must ask ourselves what is social justice? As defined by (Walker, 1999, p.9). Social justice is mutual responsibility it insists that we all accept duties as well as rights to each other and to society . Dorling s book focuses on 5 main causes of injustice in todays modern world and how these 5 causes have changed in comparison to what they were in the past. The path to a better future, these contend, lies in a better understanding and appreciation of how the injustices of the past affect patterns of oppression today (Spinner Halev, 2012, p.4). What was once seen as unfortunate many years ago has now become what s known as unjust . Dorling does an excellent job of explaining what these 5 tenants of injustice are and he does so in an easy to understand language whilst giving us examples of how these 5 tenants have changed to prior years. Each tenant both past and present is briefly explained to us in the introduction of the book, but Dorling delves deeper into each tenant in such greater detail in later chapters. Each chapter shows us how these tenants affect/have affected certain domains within our society. These new tenants/faces of injustice nowadays are stated as: Elitism, Exclusion, Prejudice, Greed and Despair. Old evils/faces that were once said to cause social injustice were due to a lack of: Education (ignorance), Money (want) Work (idleness) Comfort (squalor) and Health (disease). Dorling points out that while many people say they don t agree with these beliefs or claim to reject them, are often at times the ones to uphold ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 32. The Code Of Life And The Human Genome As was said in the beginning of the video, the ultimate achievement that one can make scientifically is to look at our own human genome, or instruction book if you will, and try to figure out what it is telling us, what it reads. This began happening in the late 1990s, to 2000s, when people began diving deeper into what DNA really tells us. In a sense, we have found the key to unlock, or crack, the code of life, and this is also the key to diagnosing and curing genetically transmitted diseases. This key is what the Human Genome Project searched to find, and what Cracking the Code of Life is all about. A single message, which we call DNA, has been passed down from the very first microscopic organism all the way to us today. It travels in a continuous thread that flows through all living things, and is the secret of all life. This message within all of us is made up of four nitrogen bases, Guanine (G), Thymine (T), Cytosine (C), and Adenine (A), which are connected in a double helix, which looks like a twisted ladder. These bases come in pairs, as G connects with C, and A with T, and the order of these base pairs is what creates the variance we see in every organism today. There are approximately 3 billion base pairs in the human genome, but only about 30,000 are actually our genes. However, one wrong letter out of 3 billion can cause extreme various in humans To put this into perspective, every human body is 99.9% identical in its genetic code. That means that .01% of ... • 33. Comparing The Road Less Traveled And The Road Not Taken The song by Lauren Alaina, Road Less Traveled is connected to the poem The Road Not Taken written by Robert Frost. The poem and the songs are connected through the words and how they are represented. Both songs are speaking about taking the road that would not get traveled on as much. Within the poem and the song, I found four connections to each other. The first connection in The Road Not Taken was And be one traveler, long I stood and looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth . This was connected to the line in the song Why do you keep on staring? . They are connected because the man in the poem is standing in front of both of the paths staring at them trying to decide which one he should go down. The second connection was in The Road Not Taken in the lines where the man says, Because it was grassy and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These lines are connected to the song when she says So don t hold back and just run it because the man in the poem is hesitating if he should continue to take the less traveled road or the other one that was almost the same. Lauren Alaina is telling people to not be afraid and keep going on in life, just as he does in the poem. The fourth and final connection between the poem and the song are when Robert Frost wrote, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference . • 35. Cultural Expectations In Marge Piercy s Barbie Doll The ideal that society thrives on creating expected images for women is constantly argued against. Many disagree with the idea that society can place expectations for what is beautiful, now saying things such as chunky is hunky or that men love curves . In reality, the standards are still set. For example, with American magazines audiences are infatuated by the image of perfect beauty and female sexuality (Hanjani 310). In Marge Piercy s Barbie Doll , Piercy exemplifies the effects of society s standards on a growing adolescent girl. Piercy uses the symbolism of the poem and repetition of one line to amplify how society s cultural expectations control the aspects of an individual s life, especially the lives of young women. Piercy begins ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now, the audience follows the girl to her death. The tone turned completely around from pleasant and was filled with remorse. The girl finally decides to take it upon herself to get rid of her flaws; So she cut off her nose and her legs and offered them up. (Piercy, 604). Finally, the girl was perfect. Following these lines, the girl is laid in a casket at her funeral, and many of her peers now come around and express how truly beautiful she was. The title, Barbie doll, is fitting with this portion of the poem. The casket was not just a casket. Instead, it acted as a Barbie Box, one that showed of the contents of its perfect package. However, it wasn t truly the girl that was represented in the box. Instead, she was made up to perfection, her nose was now a turned up putty nose (Piercy, 604), and she had mountains of makeup caked onto her face. It was only now that society accepted the girl, she had met their standards at last. The girl represents the death of everyone as well, with her death, everyone now supported her. • 37. What Are The Conditions Necessary To Pass An Ordinance Article 123 and 213 of the Indian Constitution grant the President and the Governor the ordinance making powers respectively. Ordinarily the Parliament is responsible for the law making process, but the makers of the Constitution though considering Ordinances to be a necessary evil , hold that the Ordinance making power should be delegated to the Executive to deal with such situations when the existing law is not enough to deal with the aroused situation and the Parliament is not in session. This extraordinary power is given to them when both Houses of the Parliament or State Legislature are not in session and the President or the Governor is satisfied that circumstances exist which render it necessary for him to take immediate action. The conditions necessary to pass an ordinance are a)both the houses should not be in session, b) The President or the Governor is satisfied that such conditions exist that make it necessary for him to pass the ordinance. Ordinance is just like any other Act and has the same force but it ceases to exist if both houses of the Parliament or the State Legislature pass a resolution against it. It also ceases to exist if it is not replaced by an Act within six weeks of reassembly of the Parliament or the State Legislature. This method of issuing an ordinance has been devised with a view to enable the executive to meet any unexpected or urgent situation arising in the Country when Parliament is not in session, and which it cannot deal with ...
