Hcs 245-Week 5
(Week 1 DQ #2) Class, In our first DQ, we discussed the various cultural barriers that we might
see on a routine basis; however there are still many more barriers to effective communication.
These might be more associated with physical and psychological barriers. Here are two real world
questions that we most of us will encounter throughout our health care career regularly... How
might a provider communicate more effectively with a person who is hearing impaired? Also, how
might a provider communicate more effectively with an adolescent versus an adult? Paul Wing,

communicating with one who is hearing impaired. A great invention is the CART which as you

they have not builded a bond. If a child doesn t feel comfortable they tend not to say much and
shy away . I think providers should try to become more involved or try methods to get the child
interested as I mentioned in my post such as trying to offer a treat for communicating . In other
words once the provider sees you they should state great job and give the child a blow pop or
candy so the next visit they are familiar of a treat , this will eventually open up a wide
communication field. I know it worked when I was a child , Posted by Lachelle Gilbert There are

Figurative Language In Casey At The Bat
The author, Ernest L. Thayer, of Casey at the Bat, uses humor to describe Casey s experiences.
He uses humor in the form of rhyming. He also uses humor in the form of figurative language. A
good bit of humor is shown through these forms of humor. The humor is described very well by
the author. Starting with figurative language, you find a hyperbole. The example is when one
person at the stand shouts, Kill him! Kill the umpire! It s hyperbole because he doesn t want him
to literally be killed. What makes it humorous is that some readers may find it funny for someone
to yell, Kill him, at a baseball game. The example for rhyming is when the stragglers thought about
betting on Casey. The author wrote, They thought, If only Casey could

Social Injustice In If You Come Softly, By Jacqueline Woodson
Different is Unique
Social injustice affects many people around the world. Race, religion, class, gender, and sexual
orientation are all apart of social injustice, outside characteristics are the first thing one is judged
upon. Today in society people get judged and dehumanized everyday, because they are looked at
first by their outside characteristics. In the realistic fiction books If You Come Softly by
Jacqueline Woodson, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne, and Miracle s boys also by
Jacqueline Woodson the authors demonstrate that social injustice can occur when individuals are
viewed by only their outward characteristics and beliefs.
First Social injustice occurs many times in the book If You Come Softly by Jacqueline Woodson....

Also people were treated in a way based off of their economic class. Bruno a young boy lived
with his family and they were wealthy. They had many people that worked for them, who were

not just imitate the way father spoke to her. You get your hands off my things (Boyne 1). In
addition, Mariah is in a lower class socially and economically, his father treated her like she was

The Jewish people were captured and put into concentration camps, were tortured, and

The Conventional Nuclear Family in Britain Today Essay
The Conventional Nuclear Family in Britain Today
Since the Industrial revelation the nuclear family has been recognised as the norm of British
society and although there have been recent changes in family life, is the norm of Britain today still
the conventional nuclear family?
The nuclear family has always been considered the norm in society ever since the industrial
revolution but in society today the single parent family has had a dramatic increase from around
4% to 10% and no longer is the conventional nuclear family the powerful norm that it used to be.
The supposed value of the traditional family unit is that it provides social cohesion and stability
because the family home is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believed that without these functions society would breakdown. He suggested that the nuclear
family is such an important social institution, playing such vital functions in maintaining society
that it is found in some form in every society. However although most societies in the world have
some established arrangements for the production, rearing and socialisation of children this does
not mean that these arrangements always involve the prime responsibility resting on the family.
However there have been criticisms of Murdock suggesting that in his passion for his work he may
have been caught up in the fact that there may have been other institutions within society, which
can perform various functions of the family that he describes as being indispensable
Parsons stated that the nuclear family performs two core functions; the primary socialization of
children, and the stabilization of adult personalities. Parsons argues that the women s role in the
family is expressive , providing warmth, security and emotional support to the husband and
children, and the males role is instrumental , as the breadwinner. This view of the family and
gender roles for men and women is quite old fashioned. Nowadays conjugal roles are more
symmetrical. Women can now be wage earners and it no longer seems deviant for men to take a
role in childcare and the domestic

Zeffirelli Versus Luhrmann s Film
Zeffirelli s film depiction of the balcony scene is superior to Luhrmann s film because it is truer
to Shakespeare s play and has a better interpretation of the play to film. The films are similar in
that it s night and Juliet looks out her balcony as Romeo leaves her house. Although the Luhrmann
film depiction during the balcony scene was in a lavish house which would have never been seen
during the time frame of when the play was written. There may have been lavish houses during the
time the play was written, but they don t come close to the setting in the Zeffirelli film. This plays
a key role in the film seeing that the accuracy of the events of the scene help to give the viewers an
enhanced feel to the original atmosphere. Another significant

The Belief Of God Or Gods
Animism has Latin roots and means soul or life conferring to the dictionary. It is cosmologically
involved. Also, it includes two beliefs the belief in measured forces throughout nature, in natural
objects, animals and humans; and the belief in personal gods and spirits throughout nature, in
natural objects, animals and human beings. Perhaps, this belief is interrelated with cosmology. It
seems to most religions that cosmological theory has an important role. God or gods is the sole and
sustainer of their faith and also of the universe. Yes, human beings like the Apache tribe have shown
significant traditional rites through the Sunrise Dance. It is an Apache girl who first experiences

a forest is considered sacred to Oshun beside the Oshun River. Thirdly, sacrifices are offered to a

They can hurt people, as well as relatives, with their magic if they are not treated respectfully. For

women, who are believed to be influential witches. This performance is to please the witches or
elderly women so that they will not cause harm.

True Grit Coming Of Age Quotes
People do not give it credence that a fourteen year old girl could leave home and go off in the
wintertime to avenge her father s blood. (Portis 11) And many people still do not imagine that a
story like that is even close to being realistic. Even though, True Grit is fictional; it seemed real as
the reader saw Mattie Ross came of age. Coming of age is the transition from youth to adulthood.
Throughout the novel, True Grit, the protagonist, Mattie Ross, develops courage, common sense,
and bravery as she comes of age from her experience of hunting down the man who murdered her
father. The fourteen year old faced many challenges that marked the growth of her maturity.

passage, Mattie s confidence grows. She started out nervous with running into Tom Chaney but in
the discussion, she decides to shoot him. This passage shows the reader just how much Mattie has

she had grown to the point where she tried to murder a man. Well, it was not just a random man. It
was her father s murderer. Although this was the whole point of the journey; it still reveals
development in her character. In the beginning, she expected Rooster to shoot Tom Chaney but
now Mattie had become ready to kill her father s slaughterer. The whole novel prepared for this
moment; the moment where Mattie finally stood up to the man who single handedly blew up her
life. This passage was probably the most momentous part of the book since it was when Mattie

Sexual Revolution, By Beth Bailey

Bailey, Beth. Sex in the Heartland. Cambridge, Massachusetts, and London, England: Harvard
University Press, 1999.
In the book Sex in the Heartland, the author Beth Bailey provides the reader with a distinct,
detailed, and informative read of the impact in which the sexual revolution had on American culture
during the 1960 s.This revolution took place in the town of Lawrence, Kansas, which Bailey
refers to as the heartland of America. As Bailey states in her introduction, Kansas is the
quintessential heartland state (4). The overall themes Bailey introduces are the dynamics of social
change, as well as sexual change. Bailey argues throughout the course of the book that there was
in fact, a sexual revolution. Reflecting of this change, Bailey writes, What were long term events
resulted in gradual trends (2). These events are what make up the sex revolution discussed
throughout Bailey s book. The purpose of Sex in the Heartland is to assess the ongoing change in
cultural normalcies, and the impact the sexual revolution had on university towns such as
Lawrence. Bailey encourages readers to gain a deeper understanding of what the revolution was in
the eyes of the 1960 s American society.
Throughout the book, Bailey argues that in cities around the country in the 1960 s, the ordinary
person battled the constant struggle of both private and public sexual behaviors, which came to
follow post WWII in America. Throughout the text, Bailey

The Importance Of Phedateracy Pedagogy In Education
As with all elements of life, education has evolved since the introduction of schools in Australia in
the 1800 s. Didactic literacy pedagogy was the starting point for most educators which evolved to
authentic pedagogy, then functional pedagogy and critical pedagogy throughout the twentieth
century. To maximise the effectiveness of all student s literacylearning, areas of difficulty in
delivery of information were highlighted, which led to changes being implemented and new
pedagogies being adopted alongside changes in curriculum and school structure. Although literacy
pedagogyhas undergone many changes within the Australian educational climate, there is no one
right or wrong pedagogy, rather, classrooms would benefit from a modernisation of older
pedagogies which can be woven together and applied in the classroom to ensure each student s
success in their literacy learning.
Didactic literacy pedagogy is best known as featuring the teacher as the authority figure in the
classroom who explicitly presents facts and theories of literacy to students who are expected to
memorise the content, such as the formal rules relating to the ways letters, words and sounds
work together (Kalantzis, Cope, Chan Dalley Trim, 2016, p.85; Paul, 1990, p.328 332). Having
been in existence since the 1500 s, and used in classrooms since mass schooling was introduced,
didactic literacy pedagogy was supported with textbooks, developed by Petrus Ramus, which
assisted teachers in delivering a

In the article Law enforcement lessons from Hurricane Katrina it states how the local law

at a local level can be considered the first line to a management team. They also know their city,

Early Intervention And Lifestyle Adjustment Essay
Abstract
Aging is inevitable, and for some the process is seemingly smooth with minimal adversity. The
habits we form throughout our life will strongly impact our development, and the potential
development of our offspring/s. The similarities each human being shares in regards to their
anatomy and physiology help the advancement of medicine and science to aid in living an optimal
life. The purpose of this research paper is to analyze one of the most debilitating diseases effecting
the elderly. Through my research, one of the most optimistic findings is that early intervention and
lifestyle adjustment can not only reduce the risk of developing osteoporosis, but alleviate the
harmful effects when prevention is unsuccessful or unnoticed.
Introduction
The skeletal system is a flawless adaption for its functions of body protection and movement. Our
bones form a tower of skeleton arrangement designed to keep humans standing upright and
balanced. The skeleton is partitioned into the axial skeleton, which encompasses the bones of the
skull, the vertebral column, and the thoracic cage (E.N. Marieb 2015). The second partitioning of
the skeleton is the appendicular skeleton (E.N. Marieb 2015), which include the bones of the limbs
and the bones responsible for holding the limbs to the axial skeleton. The bones in the skeletal
system are essential for the shape, support, protection of soft body organs, movement, storage of fat,

The law assumes that all parents will protect and promote the interests of their children, however
some do not. Therefore the state has the power to intervene and remove children from their
parents to protect them from any harm. This form of child protection is the states greatest power.
The local authority (LA) have a duty to investigate complaints if they have reason to believe that
a child is at risk; this is demonstrated in the scenario where the school follows their child
protection procedure and the social services department of the LA were alerted. The LA can offer

The heart breaking case of Victoria Climbie [2000] led to the Laming Report . In this case, two
hospitals and two child protection teams were involved, twelve different services saw her before
her death and no one took the steps to protect her. Lord Laming said ignorance is not an excuse and
the blame could not be passed on junior staff.
Therefore in this scenario, the LA have the duty to investigate the number of concerns which
have come up about Ewan and Callum. The red flags in this scenario are that Ewan, who is 9,
and Callum, who is 13, have both suffered physically with bruises and a black eye. Both of their
school attendances are poor and they have been acting aggressively during school. Ewan was also
looking underweight and does not socialise with his friends. More concerns are that it is difficult
getting into contact with their mother, Julie. The family house is not a healthy or happy
environment as it is very untidy and dirty, Julie s boyfriend also threatened the social worker Boris.
Boris also stated that Julie was agitated which may indicate mental health problems or that she is a
drug abuser. All this information is extremely alarming, therefore the LA have the duty of
investigating this and protecting the children from harm. One of the key principles of the Children
Act 1989 (CA 1989) are non intervention which means that the state should not intervene unless

Groupthink In 12 Angry Men
12 Angry Men, an influential and awarding winning film, is a unique movie that tells the story of
twelve jurors who converse on whether the defendant is guilty or not. Despite its old age and
different setting, the movie is a film worth watching as it provides real life scenarios and
application of conflict management when confronted with a problem at hand and conflict from
fellow members. In fact, the movie adequately portrays the occurance of groupthink, types of
conflicts seen in small groups, and ways to resolve conflicts that ultimately influences how the
conversation goes. 12 Angry Men does a spectacular job in enrapturing audiences with the plot at
hand and showing how issues can solved in order to reach a common goal. It is apparent from the
beginning of the movie that the defendant, an eighteen year old boy charged for murder, is viewed
as guilty. However, there is one juror among the twelve that views this differently, Juror Eight. In
fact, Juror Eight s objection helps break the issue of groupthink, the illusion of an agreement in
order to minimize conflict, maximize cohesiveness, and reach a consensus without critically testing,

Financial institutions are acting as fiduciaries to their investors and clients. In the execution
process, buy side traders need to demonstrate reasonable steps to determine a best execution

Walt Disney created a film related to the myth of Hercules, but there are many parts from the myth
that weren t included in the film. The reason why is to keep the film family friendly for kids to
enjoy without seeing all the gruesome parts from the actual myth. By making the film a musical
comedy, Disney kept it PG 13; successfully making the once morbid myth of Hercules upbeat. To
start off; in the myth, Hercules were born to Zeusand a mortal woman name Alcmene and with
parents being an immortal and mortal, that make Hercules a demigod. Hercules was born with
super strength and that make Hera, Zeus wife even more envious. Throughout his life, Hera had
brought Hercules endless suffering. From an early age to his adulthood, like when he

Then on October 14, 1878 he filed his first patent application for improvement in electric lights.
Then again on November 4, 1879 he filed another patent for an electric lamp using a carbon

methods for a filament using cotton and linen thread. He also used wood splints, papers coiled
in various ways. Several months after the patent was passed Edison and his team discovered
bamboo filament and it lasted over 1200 hours. From 1878 1880 Edison and his associates
worked on at least 3,000 different theories. The way it worked was it made light by using
electricity to heat a thin strip of material called a filament until it gets hot enough to glow. It was
made with a filament housed in a glass vacuum bulb. Thomas had a glassblowing shed that is
where he made the bulbs. The goal was to use less electricity than the arc lamp. In 1879, he
created his first ever high resistance incandescent electric light. The way it worked would it passed
electricity through a thin platinum filament in the glass vacuum. Which that kept the filament from
melting. The reason it didn t work is because it only lasted a few hours. Even though it was closer
to the light bulb used today there was still a few improvements to be

Informative Essay On Kelseyton Manning
There is a quote that I feel connected very well: The universe is always speaking to us...sending us
little messages, causing coincidences and serendipities, reminding us to stop, look around, to
believe in something else, something more. In order for us to connect to the world we all have to
understand that more than we think is connected, if we think about it everything can be connected
in some way. Specifically this essay will ultimately connect NFL superstar Peyton Manningall the
way to why the birth cycle we have came to exist. A perfect Sunday afternoon watching the

East of Eden
The struggle of sibling rivalry over ability and temperament has taken East of Eden in a whole

Grandmother Got Run Over The Christmas Tree Analysis
It was weeks before Christmas, when all through the house there was a mess that needed to be
upped and oust.
And what to mine eyes did appear, here and there boxes were everywhere.
So, Dad in his office working and I, Mom in the laundry room laundering, did nothing with those
boxes.
We did stop and stare on our way, to and fro. However, those silly boxes just sat there and mocked
us.
Meanwhile, up stairs the windows were bare all but one, which did have a few cling on decorations
hanging there.
Then on the floor for all to see, there were some more decorations of a special kind, they played
music of various kinds.

custom. Eumaeus misses Odysseus and explains that longing for him, him that wrings [his] heart
(14.167). He has remained very loyal to Odysseus, and has therefore grown to hate the suitors.
From what Eumaeus has explained, Penelopes loyalty is emphasized since she has ignored the
ignorant suitors. They are all waiting for him to come home which he now realizes since his
absence is truly affecting everyone in his life.

29. INSIGHT
Right when Telemachus was about to head home, the gods sent a sign: an eagle swooped down
from the crags where it was born and bred... snatched that goose fattened up for the kill inside the
house (15.194 196). Helen interpreted the sign and explained that just so, after many trials and
roving long and hard, Odysseus will descend on his house and take revenge unless he s home
already, sowing seeds of ruin for that whole crowd of suitors (15.197 200) This made Telemachus
hopeful but suggests the fate of the suitors back in Ithaca, which has been suggested throughout the
story. This gives Telemachus some closure on his father s homecoming.

The Influence Of Ten Amendments On The Basis Of The United...
The United States Constitution is regarded as a myriad of items: It has served as the basis of the
United States briefly after the construction of the United States, serving as a model for dozens of
other nations. The first ten amendments in the United States constitution are perhaps the most
famous. These ten amendments, known commonly as the Bill of Rights, are seldom contested, for
they are the prime components holding the constitution together. Essentially, the Constitution serves
as the basis of the US, but the Bill of Rights is the basis of the Constitution. Despite not being

It was put into place as one of the most, if not the most, fundamental amendments due to the
weapon signifying the people s right to defend themselves in cases of government failure
(Source A). Government failure in this case refers to the government becoming a dictatorship,
and false democracy. This is what the colonies had faced prior to the Constitution, and
Declaration of Independence hence the Boston Massacre. The Boston Massacre was able to
occur with no defense possible on the Colonists side due to the lack of weapons available. The
British Government ruled over the Colonists and made it near impossible for them to retaliate in
any effective means due to that lack of weaponry. Due to that lack of weaponry, the Colonists
were able to be easily controlled and forced (Source D). For these purposes it was made a
fundamental basis that every single citizen, not just certain ones, be able to take action against that
oppressive government, should it form. This is widely due to the ideology that no one should be

How Did Civilization Influence The Development Of Western...
The West is the history of what humans did that made civilization evolve into our modern era.
The West involves how social standards, morals, religions, political systems, culture, and
technology developed over time. The West is where the origins of civilization started, and what
humans did during their time period. The Western history biggest impact was by old ancient
history, and how society got here today. The greatest philosophers, traditions, different ethnicities,
and religion played an important part in the shaping of Western civilization. The origins began at
the period of the Mesopotamian era, through the times of the Hebrews, Greeks, and Romans, and
how each civilization affected today s modern world. In Mesopotamian, there were a few
civilizations beginning to rise up to become an establishment. The Sumerians invented writings
around 3200 B.C. The first objects were symbolized as images carved into soft clay tablets. By
3000 B.C, Cuneiform was the first written language invented by the Sumerians and was written in
mud tablets. Babylonians, Persians and other civilizations used the Sumerians cuneiform script as
their own way of writing. The Wheel was created in around 3,500 BC. The original form of the
wheel was a roller placed underneath something to keep hefty objects one place to another. As time
passed by, these runners and rollers evolved into the wheels that we utilize today. A water system

The Rise And Fall Of The Kray Twins
LEGEND The rise and fall of the Kray twins
Introduction
In Brian Helgeland s movie Legend with Tom Hardy in both main roles, you cannot only expect
violence, fist fights, shootings and hot cars but also a tragically lovely romance between a mafia
boss from East London and his spouse.
Legend is a typical crime thriller portraying the life of the Kray twins, with all its difficulties.
However, Helgeland does not just explore the hard underground of London in the 1960s, he also
picks up on homosexual topics. All in all, the director shoot a typical crime thriller, sometimes even
in kind of an absurd and humoristic way, not to mention the cute typical British mother of the hard
men, serving them cake and tea.

Theme
Helgeland tries to understand the bonds that unite the two brothers. Two inseparable, bound by
blood and who love each other as much as they hate each other. Because in the face of Ronald s
madness (with paranoid schizophrenia) and his excessive violence that will slowly destroy their
empire, Reggie will be unable to keep control until everything collapses like a house of cards.
Conclusion
Although it offers notable subtleties and a fascinating approach to the fraternal relationship, the
film unfortunately lacks content over time. Sources:

The Military Use Of Atomic Bombs And The Justification For...
The military use of atomic bombs and the justification for America doing so is a highly
controversial topic. On August 6th, 1945, America dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese
city of Hiroshima, and changed the world forever. Three days later America dropped another
atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Nagasaki. During that week, hundreds of thousands were
affected as the atomic age dawned. The United States needed to use atomic bombs in order to
end the Second World War effectively. There are several reasons for this, including the fact that
the United States wanted to end the war as quickly as possible in order to save millions of Allied
and Axis soldiers from dying during several more years of war, to save millions of dollars on
many more years of war, to justify the cost, to impress the Soviets, and to bring to an end the
aggressive tyranny of Japanese Imperialism. Ending the war promptly was a high priority for the
United States, as it would minimize casualties and reduce the high cost of traditional warfare.
American President Harry S. Truman made a wise and accurate decision for his time and
circumstances. President Truman, who made the decision to use the atomic bombs, was not
looking for a reason to drop the bombs; Truman was looking for a way to end the war quickly in
order to save lives. A swift end to the war would entail dropping the atomic bombs. The main
priority for President Truman was to end the war as quickly as possible with the fewest U.S.

The Simpsons Essay example
The Simpsons
When the FOX network aired The Simpsons in 1989, the show brought the yellow skinned and four
fingered cartoon characters named Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie Simpson into millions of
American living rooms. This bent archetype of the American family, as well as the hundreds of
zany characters that populate their all American hometown of Springfield, fast became the targets
of enormous criticism. Elementary schools banned T shirts bearing the images of the Simpson
family and their slogans. Former U.S. Secretary of Education William Bennett and even President
George Bush berated the show as subversive and demeaning (McAllister 1494). However, a more

and a former mental patient on the government s list of potentially dangerous people. In a lampoon
of American gun control, the dealer tells him that being potentially dangerous means only that he
must wait a week before he can buy a weapon (Cantor).
In fact, according to those behind the scenes, these forays into politics mark more than just material
for the next laugh; rather, they are deliberate efforts to shape American society. Simpsonscreator
Matt Groening says that, under its facade of humor, the show is trying to nudge people, jostle
them a little, wake them up to some of the ways in which we re being manipulated and exploited.
He adds, The Simpsons message over and over again is that your moral authorities don t always
have your best interests in mind (Doherty).
Going beyond politics, and perhaps into trickier territory, The Simpsons often criticizes religion in
America. For instance, the Simpsons over pious neighbors are a stereotype with which the show
lambastes the Religious Right, and the local minister condemns gambling, the eighth deadly sin,
while his church hosts bingo, Reno, and Monte

Heritage, a Theme in Alice WalkerВґs Everyday Use
Alice Walker sets Everyday Use as a story of a mother and two daughters where the older
daughter, Dee, is coming home to visit them after being away for a while. Walker sets the tone
of the story by displaying how poor and uneducated the family is and how Dee while growing up
was always looking for better things never appreciating the aspects of her life. As the story
develops, the focus of the story is on a set of quilts made by the mother from pieces of clothing
that belonged to her grandparents and the personal battle of who should really keep them in order
to appreciate the heritagebehind them. In Everyday Use a person can see how Maggie and Dee
differ on the fact that heritage is a characteristic of pride that a person displays every day of their
life versus a fad for a specific period of someone s life.
While growing up Dee was always resentful of the lifestyle that she had as it did not measure to
the better things she was always dreaming of. While the mother recounts the story of when their
original house burned to the ground, she mentions how Dee stood there concentrating at the way
the house slowly disappeared in the fire since she hated the house that much (Walker 298). This
aspect sets the tone of how Dee was never willing to embody the characteristics of her life
growing up, and it can be seen how she was ashamed of where she came from as later she writes
her mother in a letter of how she will always try to visit them, but she will never bring her

They say that there were children playing in the woods. Eight children seven sisters and their
brother. And the boy was pretending to be a bear and he was chasing his sisters through the
woods, and they were pretending to be frightened. And in the course of the game, the boy
actually turned into a bear. It was a terrible thing. The sisters, when they saw that, were truly
terrified and they ran for their lives, the bear after them. As they were running, they passed the
stump of a tree a very large, huge tree stump. And the tree spoke to them and said, If you will
climb up on me, I will save you. So the sisters climbed on top of the tree stump, and as they did
so, it began to rise into the air. And the bear came to kill them, but they were beyond its reach,
and so the bear reared up and scored the bar all around with its claws, and if you ve seen Devils
Tower, it is deeply striated all around. It looks like it has been scored by the claws of a gigantic

Inbreeding depression is a widely studied topic in the fields of not only genetics, but as well as
the fields of biology, ecology, etc. Directly speaking, inbreeding depression results in the loss or
reduced expression of a trait due to the mating between two closely related organisms (Hartl 547).
As of today, there are a plethora of studies and evidence that explain how and why inbreeding
occurs within populations even though it is deleterious for the populations. However, several of
these experiments are done in an unnatural environment or researchers have manipulated data in a
way to deem the results not truly representative (JM Pemberton et al.,2016). It is vital to discover
and understand the inbreeding depression of organisms in natural conditions so that this area of
study is accurately represented by reasonable data and the knowledge of this topic can be
expanded accurately. The article, Inbreeding Depression by Environment Interactions in a Free
living Mammal Population published in Heredity in November 2016, discusses research done on a
population of sheep in St. Kilda in attempt to discover inbreeding depression by environment
interaction with unmanipulated and true data. The sheep live on an isolated island, so it is
assumed that inbreeding is high in the population and genetic variation is low as well.
In this article, the researchers analyzed nine traits in the sheep for inbreeding depression by
environment interaction. These traits are

Challenged Facing Girl Child in Developing Countries
INTRODUCTION
According to the article Convention on the Rights of the Child (20 November 1989) 1, a child is
defined as every human being below the age of 18 years unless, under the law applicable to the
child, majority (or adult status ) is attained earlier; in other words, unless the relevant laws
recognize an earlier age.
Issues like gender discrimination, domestic violence, sexual abuse, child labour, human trafficking,
health and education, just to name a few, tend to be adversely skewed when closely examining the
life of the girl child.
There has been extensive researches carried out and we have lots of information available on
challenges facing women and children in general but not enough research has been carried out or ...

It is estimated that between 85 and 114 million women and girls most of who live in Africa, the
Middle East and Asia have undergone female genital mutilation (UNFPA). Again, trafficking in the
girl child most often for commercial sexual exploitation is estimated to generate $8billion each year
according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) 7.
HIV/AIDS
HIV is a retrovirus that can lead to AIDS, a set of symptoms and infections resulting from the
damage to the human immune system caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). This
condition progressively reduces the effectiveness of the immune system and leaves individuals
susceptible to opportunistic infections and tumors. Infection with HIV occurs by contact of bodily
fluids with infected persons.
A study done on girls who found themselves in commercial sexual exploitation have had their
rights violated gravely, as per the Convention on the Rights of The Child (CRC), the Convention
on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and ILO
Convention No. 182 on the Worst Forms of Child Labour. They are vulnerable to physical and
psychological abuse, as well as HIV AIDS infection. The face of the AIDS epidemic is increasingly
young, poor and female.
In some settings, the latest incidence of HIV/AIDS is reaching 8:1 female to male among those
aged 15 24 (Expert group meeting, 2006). Millions of

Dynamic Pricing
Dynamic pricing is essentially the fluctuation of pricing based on various factors, this includes
demand, number of customers, and popularity. When I think of dynamic pricing, I instantly think
of concert tickets. There is a continuously high demand for concert tickets, especially for more
shows by more popular artists. The pricingof tickets for any event constantly changes up until the
last possible second. One representation of this was a Twenty One Pilots concert I attended last
year. The original price of the ticket, when I purchased mine, was around thirty five dollars;
however, throughout the next couple of months the tickets ranged from sixty to around one
hundred and fifteen dollars. The cause of this was two reasons. One, the concert

Warpaint Lord Of The Flies Quote Analysis
The Power Of The Unknown
In Lord Of The Flies, the power of the warpaint, and the beast give jack great command over the
other children Do you remember Halloween when you were little? I do. I remember putting on a
mask and feeling powerful and confident. I think the same thing happens with Jack and his war
paint transition. War paint gives Jack power. In the novel, as soon as Jack changes his face using
war paint, many members of Ralph s tribe step up to follow jack in his new tribe. Without war
paint Ralph seems to just be a figurehead of a leader. He is the shell of what was the chief. Jack is
now the new leader because of his new instilled confidence.Even though Jack may not actually
have the job of leader but, he is already the leader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If you remember earlier in the book, Jack was told by Ralph to keep the signal fire burning. But
instead of thinking of the whole group like a good chief would, He only thought about himself
and what he wanted to do. Jack checked, vaguely irritated by this irrelevance but too happy to let
it worry him. (Golding 69). This quote helps show that Jack is not a good leader. He cares more
about what he wants than what the whole group wants making him the most irresponsible
character in the book. With Ralph actually being the most responsible character in the book ,He
is definitely the rightful chief but as we later learn, the right chief doesn t always get picked.
Another example of Jack not being responsible as a leader was when the circle chant took place.
All at once, Robert was screaming and struggling with the strength of frenzy. Jack had him by
the hair and was brandishing his knife. Behind him was Roger, fighting to get close. The chant
rose ritually, as at the last moment of a dance or a hunt. (Golding 114). This quote explains that
if Jack were a proper leader he would not have let poor Robert almost get killed. Jack didn t even try
to stop the feeding frenzy that was the hunters. In conclusion, with Jack s new power He does not
take responsibility and is not a proper leader and is a great danger to many of the young people on
the

  • 2. Hcs 245-Week 5 (Week 1 DQ #2) Class, In our first DQ, we discussed the various cultural barriers that we might see on a routine basis; however there are still many more barriers to effective communication. These might be more associated with physical and psychological barriers. Here are two real world questions that we most of us will encounter throughout our health care career regularly... How might a provider communicate more effectively with a person who is hearing impaired? Also, how might a provider communicate more effectively with an adolescent versus an adult? Retrieved from http:/ /www.skillscascade.com Net s Comments Angel you have listed a great view point on communicating with one who is hearing impaired. A great invention is the CART which as you mentioned is a computer assisted real time transcription or where the hearing impaired person uses a computer to communicate. Most commonly language used is sign language and speech interprets. I think most adolescents face issues with communicating with Providers because they have not builded a bond. If a child doesn t feel comfortable they tend not to say much and shy away . I think providers should try to become more involved or try methods to get the child interested as I mentioned in my post such as trying to offer a treat for communicating . He also uses humor in the form of figurative language. A good bit of humor is shown through these forms of humor. The humor is described very well by the author. Starting with figurative language, you find a hyperbole. The example is when one person at the stand shouts, Kill him! Kill the umpire! Didactic literacy pedagogy was the starting point for most educators which evolved to authentic pedagogy, then functional pedagogy and critical pedagogy throughout the twentieth century. To maximise the effectiveness of all student s literacylearning, areas of difficulty in delivery of information were highlighted, which led to changes being implemented and new pedagogies being adopted alongside changes in curriculum and school structure. Although literacy pedagogyhas undergone many changes within the Australian educational climate, there is no one right or wrong pedagogy, rather, classrooms would benefit from a modernisation of older pedagogies which can be woven together and applied in the classroom to ensure each student s success in their literacy learning. Didactic literacy pedagogy is best known as featuring the teacher as the authority figure in the classroom who explicitly presents facts and theories of literacy to students who are expected to memorise the content, such as the formal rules relating to the ways letters, words and sounds work together (Kalantzis, Cope, Chan Dalley Trim, 2016, p.85; Paul, 1990, p.328 332). • 34. The Military Use Of Atomic Bombs And The Justification For... The military use of atomic bombs and the justification for America doing so is a highly controversial topic. On August 6th, 1945, America dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, and changed the world forever. Three days later America dropped another atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Nagasaki. During that week, hundreds of thousands were affected as the atomic age dawned. The United States needed to use atomic bombs in order to end the Second World War effectively. There are several reasons for this, including the fact that the United States wanted to end the war as quickly as possible in order to save millions of Allied and Axis soldiers from dying during several more years of war, to save millions of dollars on many more years of war, to justify the cost, to impress the Soviets, and to bring to an end the aggressive tyranny of Japanese Imperialism. Ending the war promptly was a high priority for the United States, as it would minimize casualties and reduce the high cost of traditional warfare. American President Harry S. Truman made a wise and accurate decision for his time and circumstances. President Truman, who made the decision to use the atomic bombs, was not looking for a reason to drop the bombs; Truman was looking for a way to end the war quickly in order to save lives. Heritage, a Theme in Alice WalkerВґs Everyday Use Alice Walker sets Everyday Use as a story of a mother and two daughters where the older daughter, Dee, is coming home to visit them after being away for a while. Walker sets the tone of the story by displaying how poor and uneducated the family is and how Dee while growing up was always looking for better things never appreciating the aspects of her life. As the story develops, the focus of the story is on a set of quilts made by the mother from pieces of clothing that belonged to her grandparents and the personal battle of who should really keep them in order to appreciate the heritagebehind them. While the mother recounts the story of when their original house burned to the ground, she mentions how Dee stood there concentrating at the way the house slowly disappeared in the fire since she hated the house that much (Walker 298). • 42. Inbreeding Depression By Environment Interactions Essay Inbreeding Depression Inbreeding depression is a widely studied topic in the fields of not only genetics, but as well as the fields of biology, ecology, etc. Directly speaking, inbreeding depression results in the loss or reduced expression of a trait due to the mating between two closely related organisms (Hartl 547). As of today, there are a plethora of studies and evidence that explain how and why inbreeding occurs within populations even though it is deleterious for the populations. However, several of these experiments are done in an unnatural environment or researchers have manipulated data in a way to deem the results not truly representative (JM Pemberton et al.,2016). It is vital to discover and understand the inbreeding depression of organisms in natural conditions so that this area of study is accurately represented by reasonable data and the knowledge of this topic can be expanded accurately. The article, Inbreeding Depression by Environment Interactions in a Free living Mammal Population published in Heredity in November 2016, discusses research done on a population of sheep in St. Kilda in attempt to discover inbreeding depression by environment interaction with unmanipulated and true data. The sheep live on an isolated island, so it is assumed that inbreeding is high in the population and genetic variation is low as well.
