Demand Curve, Supply Curve Equilibrium. The Demand Curve
Demand Curve, Supply Curve Equilibrium
The demand curve can be shown in a graph and it reflects the relationship between the price and
amount of a commodity that people are able and willing to buy at a set price. The demand curve
slopes downward because are more prone to buying a good as the price declines. For example,
coffee drinkers may be willing to buy more cups of Starbucks coffee if a medium cup of regular
coffee sells for $1.49 versus $2.10. Instead of buying one cup a day they may buy 2 or 3 cups a
day. Lower prices increase the demand for higher quantities (Hill, n.d.). In many cases, the supply
curve slopes upward from left to right, because the price of product and quantity supplied are
correlated. Demand and supply curves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the government adopts a price control, there is no longer an equilibrium price determined by
supply and demand. When government set price ceilings or price floors, they disrupt the normal
direction of distributing available resources (Mankiw, 2015). A good example is when the
government changes the minimum wage laws to increase the hourly rate in hopes of helping
the poor, and this also results in others being unemployed. Since the companies would not have
to pay more to produce the same quantity, they are forced to lay off some of their employees. The
government has an influence on supply and demand by controlling the prices of certain goods
and regulations in certain industries. The government can impose taxes on goods and services to
raise revenue that may be used to subsidize projects and government funded programs. When
taxes are imposed on goods and services, the government determines tax incidence, meaning who
will pay taxes among those partaking in the market economy. Whether the levied tax is paid by
the seller or the buyer, it affects both directly and indirectly (Hill, n.d.). For example, let s say that
Starbuck s paid a tax on the import of whole coffee beans. Although the tax would be imposed on
Starbucks the cost would be passed on to consumers of their

Leadership Styles Of Leadership And Leadership
My leadership philosophy is to be approachable, understanding and kind towards others. To make
sound decisions under stressful situations. I believe that teamwork, communication and
collaboration can resolve any challenge. To continue to grow and be an advocate for childcare to
and be a good listener and communicator. To reflect on my process, and rely on mentors for
guidance. In addition I will blend different styles of leadershipand theories to suit situations. Most
importantly I want to be a leader who puts others first.
Through personality assessments I learned that I needed to incorporate and balance various
types of leadership skills such as participative, delegative and authoritarian. I learned to
implement different leadership theories like Contingency, and Transnational leadership. I had
to learn how to be a leader verses a manager. I also learned and incorporated different leadership
roles such as community leadership, conceptual leadership and an advocacy leadership role. In
developing good leadership skills, the personality assessment was the first step I took to
discover what type of leader I am. I learned that I have a participative leadership style. This style
often leads to effective and accurate decision making because I rely on my staff to help in the
decision making process. However, I discovered that to be a good leader I needed to balance out
my skills between participative, delegative and authoritarian styles.
I began to take the lead and

Essay on Summary and Analysis of The Pardoner s Tale
Summary and Analysis of The Pardoner s Tale (The Canterbury Tales)
Prologue to the Pardoner s Tale:
The Host thinks that the cause of Virginia s death in the previous tale was her beauty. To counter
the sadness of the tale, the Host suggests that the Pardoner tell a lighter tale. The Pardoner delays,
for he wants to finish his meal, but says that he shall tell a moral tale. He says that he will tell a
tale with this moral: the love of money is the root of all evil. He claims that during his sermons
he shows useless trifles that he passes off as saints relics. He proudly tells about how he defrauds
people who believed they have sinned. He states explicitly that his goal is not to save people from
sin, but to gain money from them. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although he is one of the most developed characters, he is the character perhaps most defined by
his profession. The Pardoner has substituted a system of values with a rote performance, which
conforms to his profession, which substitutes a meaningless monetary transaction for penance for
sin. The Pardoner therefore suggests a traditional Vice character who behaves strictly out of the
most impure motives, but where he departs from vice characters, who shamelessly commit
misdeeds for their own pleasure, is that he lacks the necessary amoral quality. The Pardoner is not a
moral man, but he nevertheless has a moral system to which he most certainly does not adhere.
The Pardoner s Tale:
There once lived in Flanders a group of three rioters who did nothing but engage in irresponsible
and sinful behavior. They were blasphemous drunkards who, while in a tavern one night,
witnessed men carrying a corpse to its grave. A boy told the rioters that the dead man was one of
their friends, slain by an unseen thief called Death. They remark that Death has slain thousands, and
vow to slay Death themselves. The three drunken men go off to find Death, but only come across
an ancient man shrouded in robes. He claims that Death will not take him, and says that they can
find Death underneath a nearby oak tree. When they found the tree they only found bushels of gold.
They decide to take the treasure and divide it evenly, but realize that if they immediate went

The Nature Of Love By Harry Harlow
Harry Harlow was labeled as a man with a desire for learning about what he presumed love to be
and consequently, dedicated his later career to the subject. Life presented him with ups and downs
yet, he pursued his research with a vigor. He developed notions about the concepts of affection in
contrast to bodily needs and what could possibly derive from one not receiving love. This guided
him to establish observational research methods to study his ideas via the use of infant primates
which, yielded both positive and negative outcomes. Harlow s article titled, The Nature of Love,
relayed his explorations and discoveries, along with his future ideas. Harlow supposedly had a
quiet and uneventful childhood, and his exhibited traits of big ambitions eventually led him to
earn a Ph.D. from Stanford University. With respect to his personal life, Harlow s initial
marriage ended when his wife left him due to his extreme dedication towards work, and his
second wife passed away from cancer. Professionally, Harlow s career took place when
behaviorism ruled the psychological field, and it was his controversial work that made him well
known amongst his community. He was not intimidated by the status quo and thus, conducted
experiments with primates to study the unchartered territory of affection. However, after the death
of his second wife, Harlow had become distraught and depressed. His career started to falter, and he
eventually retired in 1973 (Harry Harlow, 2014). Harlow

Domestic Violence Affects Children s Development
Introduction
Thesis: Domestic violence can negatively affect children s development. (make more persuasive)
Children all around the world witness domestic violence. Whether it s between parents, partners or
even the elder. Does the parents, partners, or elder realize the affects that happen to their children?
Witnessing domestic violence, children become fearful and anxious. They become this way
because they never know when the next event may happen, fearing for themselves, mom or dad,
and siblings. Also becoming worthless and powerless, feeling the need to keep their family a
secret and/or not being able to talk to their own family about the abuse. Sometimes they feel like
they are the reason why there is domestic violence in their home. If they look fine to you or others
in the world that don t know about their family, they truly may not be fine at all inside. As reading
it doesn t seem that the children are being hit in any of the domestic violence, but the parent that is
being hit from their partner fear for the child/children. Domestic violence, can negatively affect
children s development. (try to make more persuasive)
General information about domestic violence
Body Paragraph 1: By being in a domestic relationship, you would be cautious on what you say
and do. Domestic violence is not just hitting, it is also sexually, and mentally. If the partner that is
being hit may or will move out, they may be stalked by their ex domestic partner.

Cultural Impact On Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina was one of the most devastating natural disasters on record in the United States
(Skinner, 2006) In August of 2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall along the Gulf Coast
destroying buildings, homes and communities (Skinner, 2006). Storm surges and levee failures
resulted in an estimated $108 billion in physical property damage, specifically in the areas of
Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama (Skinner, 2006). Furthermore, Katrina proved itself to be one
of the deadliest disasters in U.S. history as it claimed the lives of more than 1,800 people (Skinner,
2006).
The impact of natural disasters is often discussed in the context of physical destruction, economic or
financial consequences, or loss of human lives. While all of these factors are certainly important in
gaining a complete understanding of the devastation caused by natural disasters, the psychological
impact these traumatic events have on survivors is often overlooked. Likewise, it is essential to
consider the impact that local culture impact the government s response to disasters such as
Hurricane Katrina in order to understand why black residents reported higher incidences of
psychological distress than any other racial group. The areas most profoundly impacted by
Hurricane Katrina have a history rooted deeply in racial discrimination and segregation (Chia Chen
Chen, Keith, Airriess, Leong, 2007). Understanding this cultural history is essential in gaining a
complete and comprehensive view on why

Ceo Succession
CEO SUCCESSION: THE ULTIMATE MEASURE OF BOARD PERFORMANCE
by Clarke Murphy, The Corporate Board July/August 2010
Item number one on any description of corporate board duties is hiring and firing of a chief
executive. However, success in CEO selection depends in large part on shaping a sound
succession process from the board level. Shareholder advocates now see good CEO succession
planning as a reflection of the quality of the board itself.
Public debate regarding corporate governance issues tends to focus on one primary topic at a time,
depending on the dictates of current events. Classified boards, overboarding, director compensation,
risk management the attention of the corporate governance community has been focused on each ...

Because it centers on an event thought to be in the distant future and whose timing is ill defined, it
lacks urgency compared with day to day tasks. There is little perceived cost to putting it off.
The inclination to put it off is exacerbated by the Pandora s box of issues that rigorous succession
planning forces a board to confront. Identifying the competencies and experiences needed in the
next CEO requires solidifying the company s long term strategic plan, which often involves the
painful elimination of options.
Succession planning also shines a bright light on how well the organization develops internal
candidates (something explicitly called for in the Whole Foods shareholder proposal). The
development of internal candidates in turn requires careful human capital management. Failure here
can set off a horse race, or prompt the loss or demotivation of those executives who are not being
considered for the top slot, but are valuable to the company. It also demands the establishment of
consistent and objective benchmarking that includes not only internal candidates, but appropriate
external candidates as well.
Finally, successful succession planning demands the right attitude from the incumbent CEO. The
naming of a successor is viewed by some as a personal prerogative, by others as a threat. Because
succession planning is a tangible manifestation of the limited tenure of any CEO, it is

Reflective Essay On The Father Of God
As tears fell from my eyes and onto the light blue carpet, I heard words I never thought I would
hear. One Sunday about three years ago, our assistant pastor preached a message, and after that, he
announced that our pastor was stepping down. Because it was such a close knit church, we quickly
learned that our pastor had committed adultery with one of my best friends mother. My familywas
extremely upset and the whole church was distraught when we heard the news. I had no idea what
to think. This man, whom I trusted, had baptized me and answered any questions I had. My
family adored our pastor because he was such a great teacher of the Bible. I could not fathom how
my pastor, a man of God, could be capable of a sin like this. After church that day, my family went
out to eat. At the restaurant, my father mentioned that he wanted to try out a different church.
This idea my father posed to my family was so foreign to me. This church family was all I had
ever known since I was four years old. I continuously asked God: after eleven years, why did my
family have to be uprooted. I could not understand how something like this could happen. The
Bible says in Romans 8:28 that all things work together for the good of those who love God, but
I did not understand how anything good could possibly come from my situation. My brother and
my father were excited to visit new churches, but my feelings were the opposite. Despite my
feelings, I decided I was going to be optimistic and give

Essay on lumbar disc problems
lumbar disc problems Summary
The lumbar region of the human spine is a location that is very susceptible to injury and trauma. A
majority of the population experience back pain at some time during their life, and although in
most cases the pain subsides after a time of rest, there is an enormous need for treatment of this
malady. The various typesof treatment for lumbar disc herniations include a more conservative
method of rest, physical therapy, and anti inflammatory or non steroidal drugs. A more extreme
condition would require surgery to try to alleviate the symptoms. The older, more traditional
surgery is a posterior laminotomy, however, newer less invasive microscopic and endoscopic

These nerves travel to the lower extremities cause a dull ache and sometimes numbness or loss of
strength. The nerve most commonly affected by a disc herniation is the sciatic nerve. The sciatic
nerve originates between the third sacral(S 3), and fourth lumbar(L 5) vertebrae, is formed in the
pelvis and exits through the greater sciatic foramen towards the gluteal region. It then travels
laterally underneath the piriformis muscle towards the pudendal nerve, then divides travels
anteriorly down the leg until it divides near the knee into the politeal and tibial nerves(Shanahan,
1997).
A term herniated disc is used synonymously with ruptured or prolapsed discs. They describe a
protrusion of the nucleous propulsus through the annulus fibrosus upon the spinal cord. Commonly
herd terms such as a slipped or a bulging disc refer to the disc being close to herniation, but still
remaining intact. In this case, the nucleus propulsus is contained, however, the contortion can still
lead to decreased foraminal space, and sciatic nerve irritation. The symptoms for bulging or slipped
discs are similar to those for a herniated disc, but are usually milder and less intense, thus requiring
more conservative treatments(Shanahan, 1997).
An estimated eighty percent of the population suffers at least one episode of back pain in their life,
and in as many as fifty

Reflective Essay On Social Work
As a senior, I thought this was the perfect time to get an in depth look at a career field that I was
considering. The main reason I decided to take a career internship was to be exposed to a side of
business that I had not been previously and to see if it is something I may want to pursue. The
spring semester included interning at the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber
of
Commerce is located on East Market Street in Elkin, North Carolina. The timeof the internship
period was mid day from 11:30 A.M to 1:00 P.M. This time frame allowed me to be exposed to
many lunch meetings that took place. My mentor, Myra Cook, is the president of the Chamber of
Commerce. Her role is to help businesses succeed and to promote them to the town of Elkin. At the
Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce, many valuable skills were learned such as: filing, how to
make contacts with different businesses, and planning different community events. In the future, I
want to major in non profit management and social work with hopes of opening my own non
profit someday. My non profit organization would focus on teaching people who did not receive a
proper education learn job and interview skills and help them enter the workforce.
When first arriving at the Chamber of Commerce, the first thing that is done is filing the new
paperwork, bills, and receipts. Throughout the day, typical duties include answering phone calls and

OSTEOARTHRITIS (OA)
OA is considered primary when no etiology can be clearly identified and secondary when the
disease develops in response to injuries such as joint trauma, ligament injury causing instability,
Paget s disease, Ehlers Danlos (congenital joint laxity), or congenital malformation of a joint. Twin
and family studies have shown a multifactorial pattern in primary OA. Precocious OA (onset early
in life) has been associated with a mutation in the gene coding for Type II collagen.
The initial changes in OA are found in the superficial zone of the articular cartilage and consist of
an increased water content of the articular cartilage and loss of proteoglycan. Proteolytic

There is a very strong association with the phenotypic frequency of the histocompatibility antigen,
HLA B27, particularly in Caucasians. Infectious agents (e.g., Shigella from the gastrointestinal
tract) may be involved in triggering the disease. There is a strong overlap between the arthritis
associated with inflammatory bowel disease and ankylosing spondylitis. Many patients with IBD
develop a degree of spondylitis, and many patients with ankylosing spondylitis have evidence of
bowel inflammation on biopsy.
Clinical Features
**AS and other spondyloarthopathies are characterized by three features: (1) insidious but
sometimes abrupt onset in patients under age 40, (2) duration of symptoms more than 3 months,
and (3) morning stiffness which improves with exercise. The joints characteristically affected are

Research Paper On Flowers For Algernon
Many books have been banned from school libraries. Have it be the language, racial themes, sex,
violence, negativity, witchcraft, unpopular religious views,or even unpopular political views
found in the books. What about Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes a book about a 32 year old
man named charlie who is developmentally disabled and has the opportunity to undergo a surgical
procedure that will dramatically increase his mental capabilities. Why ban this book? Well in this
book you can find references to the use of alcohol, references to sexual content and Bullying. The
book s references to sexual content, alcohol use, and bullying influenced many parents to have this
book be banned, but is the banning of this book throughout the nation justified.
One reason why Flowers of algernon by daniel keyes was banned in many schools was because of
the reference to the use of alcohol. In progress report 16 the use of alcohol is mentioned a few
times Fay had taken off her shoes and was sitting on the floor, sipping gin out of the bottle, This
makes it sound like drinking alcohol is a casual thing.Alcohol is also mentioned again in
progress report 16, is it wise of you to drink so heavily? , No, but i m trying to relax... This part
of the conversation between two people makes it sound like alcohol is a remedy to stress. With

The Crisis Of Mattel
The previous crisis of Mattel included that the products were tainted with lead paint and that some
of the products had loose little magnets. Both of these faulted products could have caused harm to
the children. This is why it was decided to recall all these products and take measures to prevent
this from happening in the future. Various stakeholders were affected by this crisis, for example
parents, children, manufacturers and investors. Which is why Mattel had to come with a strong
crisis communicationstrategy.
Within a few days the factory that produced the tainted toys was identified and the production was
stopped. An investigation was launched to determine the scope of the problem. This ended at the
end of July and by the beginning of August, Mattel alerted the public and started taking back all the
toys. Afterwards, Mattel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A strength of the implemented strategy was the use of several media channels (TV, newspaper

where the organization is to blame, responsibility should be taken immediately. Also the
transparency and sincerity of the message were well communicated to the public. Because being
honest and direct when addressing the target audiences about what happened is of utmost
importance. Mattel communicated the new safety regulations, the reassurance that measures had
been taken to prevent this from happening in the future and a public apology from the CEO
clearly. The video of the CEO was another strength of the crisis communication strategy. Because
with a video you can reach a very large audience and the public can see if you are sincere. A

because it adequately provides information about the recall to TV news producers in the form that
they need and will be able to use

Walton, in search of a passage to the pacific, risks his life without much regard for how his sister

Essay On The Movie Whale Rider
In the movie Whale Rider directed by Niki Caro, many important objects are used to foreshadow
the later events involving protagonist Paikea Apirana, a young girl forbidden by tradition to
become the chief of her tribe. Although the outcome of the film seems quite unprecedented at first,
Director Caro conceals many clues regarding the ending for the audience to discover. She does this
through the use of camera angles, dialogue and props, notably through the use of the rope, the
Taiaha and the Rei Puta. Furthermore, while making links to certain scenes in the movie, Niki Caro
has hidden life lessons and morals regarding discrimination, prejudice and leadership that the
audience can closely relate to and learn from.
Firstly, an important object in Whale Rider is the Rope. It is used to repair a motor, and is used by
Koro to represent the tribe s ancestors. This is shown in the two shot of Koro and Paikea
repairing the motor, and Koro s dialogue tells Paikea that each one of those threads is one of
your ancestors, all joined together and strong . The rope is also important as it foreshadows
Paikea becoming the Chief of the tribe. The rope is said by Koro to symbolise the ancestry and
community of the people of Whangara, but Koro breaks that wire, thus breaking the community.
However, Paikea mends the rope that Koro broke, foreshadowing the mending of the community
that can be seen at the end of the movie. This is shown in a medium shot of Paikea mending the
rope and even

Behavior Of Rural Consumers Towards Mobile Phones Essay
AN ANALYTIC STUDY TO EVALUATE BEHAVIOUR OF RURAL CONSUMERS TOWARDS
MOBILE PHONES
1.0 Introduction The future lies with those companies who see the poor as their customers
C.K.Prahalad
Villages are an integral part of nation. They become even more important in the Asian and African
context, where a majority of population is residing in rural areas.
For centuries the rural world in India was static as a self sufficient unit of production and
consumption, but it is no longer so. The rural setting is changing every day, with the corporate
sector acting both as the carrier and bearer of the consequences of this change which is happening
at an accelerating rate. Demographic profiles and spending patterns in rural India too are changing
and marketers have to junk their old perception about rural India. Rural consumers who were on
the receiving end so far are now gradually getting into position to dictate terms for the first time.
Although there is a long way to go, the beginning has already been made.
Corporate world needs to realize that, to be successful in the rural market, they must go in with a
clear long term strategy. There must be a willingness to invest in rural market with as much
energy as they utilise to build brands in the urban one. Since rural efforts take longer to give
sustained results, they must be prepared for a long haul. Short term efforts may not deliver the
desired results on a sustained basis in rural areas.

Film Review of Her
Is love a capability unique to humans, or are there no restrictions? And if there are no restrictions,
what determines whether that love can last? Her is a quirky, truly 21st century story that breaks
barriers by asking not who, but rather what we can love. Set in Los Angeles in the unspecified near
future, Theodore, a lonely writer in the midst of a divorce, stumbles into an unprecedented romance
with his Operating System, Samantha. The film raises scientific, philosophical, and even moral
questions, while never straying from its true purpose, which is to examine not only the way we love,
but the way we interact with other people in a world that seems to rely more and more on
technology to function. Writer and Director Spike Jonzeinvites the audience to have open mind and
undergo an individual exploration to these questions through the eyes of the characters. The film
showcases the infusion of technology into our lives and the challenges it creates for the way we
look at the world.
The unconventional nature of Theodore and Samantha s relationship is what drives them both
together and apart. It sets limitations on their abilities as a couple, but creates a bond that is
extremely personal. The main limitation is the fact that Theodore is only able to get to know
Samantha by hearing her speak, since there is no ability to see her or touch her. Samantha s voice
is the perfect blend of innocence and coy sexuality. There is certain rawness in the way she speaks
that makes

Fire Imagery In Aeneas And Creusa
As singer Alexander Nestor Haddaway once sang, What is love? It is an enduring question, and one
that many artists have attempted to answer throughout the centuries. Today however, the focus is
on one artist (Virgil), one book (The Aeneid), and one character (Aeneas). According to Aeneas,
there are two fundamental kinds of love, passionate love and pious love. With the use of fire
imagery, Virgil makes references to these two forms of love. However, he makes it clear that they
are very different and are not to be confused with one another. A conflict occurs between these two
different forms of love which causes each to highlight the other.
With the passionate romance of Aeneas and Dido, as well as Aeneas and Creusa, Virgil uses

When Aeneas recounts the story of the fall of Troy, he does so tearfully, because Troy was his
home. He does, however, and the picture that follows is famous: he carries his father Anchises on
his back, he holds his son Ascanius s hand, and Creusa, his wife, lags behind. Creusa is symbolic
of his romantic past as she is lost in the fall of Troy. Anchises is the intellectual past, and Ascanius
has the potential to mold the future Rome. Ascanius even sports a holy flame on his head, a sure
sign of the Gods, convincing Anchises to leave burning Troy with the family.
Aeneas is often referred to as pious, and therefore it makes perfect sense then that Aeneas would
place his family and home at the top of the list in importance. Even though Troy is gone, Aeneas in
part finds a new Troy in Italy for his family and fellow countrymen. There was more to piety than
just religion, however. Piety was, after all, family first, then the state, and lastly Gods. As according
to Beryl Rawson, Pietas often focused on the reciprocal relationship between parents and children:
they owed each other affection and duty. Aeneas personified this, in his relationships with father
Anchises and son Ascanius.
There are several mentions of fire and flame imagery, of course. It d be absurd not to notice.
However, the most critical part is that Virgil places one above the other. With the negative fire
imagery of passionate romance, it can be inferred that Virgil thought it was

John Bowlby Attachment Theory
John Bowlby, a British psychiatrist, known for his work with the attachment theory and joint work
with Mary Ainsworth, an American Canadian psychologist. His theory: the infant and young child
should experience a warm, intimate, and continuous relationship with his mother (or permanent
mother substitute) in which both find satisfaction and enjoyment. John Bowlbybelieved just like
Freud, that mental health as well as behavioral issues could be traced and attributed back to the
child s early ages. Before Mary Ainsworthwould come on scene, John Bowlby enlisted the help of
James Robertson. The two would spend two years observing hospitalized and institutionalized
children who had been separated from their parents. James Robertson left after he could no longer
go on observing and being uninvolved, he needed to do something for the children that he had been
observing. In the 1930 s, John Bowlby worked as a Child psychiatrist at the Guidance Clinic in
London where he treated many emotionally disturbed children. He was led to think about the
importance of an infant or child s relationship with their mother and their social, emotional and
cognitive development. Here is where he would form his attachment theorythat would contradict the
original theory of behavioral theory . The thought behind the original theory would be that the
infant is close to the mother because she has fed the child. Come 1950, Mary Ainsworth arrives

Andrew Jackson Analysis
The letter that president Andrew Jackson wrote to congress Message To the People Of The United
States adopted a paternalist attitude towards the Indians. Jackson talks about how his plan is
favorable to white settlements, while being biased towards the Native Americans by stating that
they are nothing but Savage Hunters and how they should unconditionally agree with his plan
because it will protect the people of Georgia from the danger of the Native American. Therefore,
he decides to pass The Indian Removal Act . The Indian Removal Act was unfair because it took
away the rights of the Native Americans and forced the Indians to leave their land which caused
many innocent live.
President Andrew Jackson did not like the Native Americans. He decided to write a letter to the
congress and persuade the government that removing the Indians from Georgia will benefit the
white settlers. When the congress read the letter from president Jackson the congress disagreed with
his plan saying that removing the Indians from their land is unconstitutional. However, presidents
Jackson being the leader of the military decides to ignore the congress and gives orders to the
military army and attack the Indians. This was the start of forcibly removing the Native Americans
from their land.
In the early 1800s, the United States government began to make plans to remove Native American
tribes from their own lands in the southeast. Many people questioned the act and asked why the

Incarcerating Minors
Critical task 2
Incarcerating minors who have broken no criminal codes is not the solution to immigration for
three reasons: (1) It is unconscionable to imprison children simply because their mothers are trying
to find a better life for them, (2) The government should not treat as suspected criminals those who
are lawfully seeking asylum or other permission to stay, (3) Detention should be a last resort,
especially given the available alternatives, including electronic monitoring and reliance on
immigration support agencies and pro bono legal services experienced in getting their clients to
court.

Essay on The Comanche Indians
The Comanche Indians
The Comanche have most recently been found in the Southern Plains, which stretches from
Nebraska to the northern part of Texas. They were fully in Texas by the 1700 s. It is believed that
the Comanche derived from the Shoshone Indians, found in Wyoming. The language spoken by the
Comanche is actually a form of Uto Aztecan language that when compared to the Shoshone
language, the two are very similar. The Comanche s were great warriors and did not really
indulge in religious practices too much nor did they use folktales or legends very often. The
Comanche s economy was mostly based on their lifestyle. Comanche s were bands, not tribes, who

also gave American settlers a very difficult time. The Comanche were very skilled horsemen. They
were the most feared Indians on horses. It is actually said that the Comanche were the best Indian
horsemen warriors ever. They had remarkable ability and skill on horses. The Comanche first met
the Spanish around the late 1600 s. The most prominent contribution from the Spanish was the
horse. The horse helped strengthen the Comanche. The Spanish would not benefit too much from
trading with the Comanche. Most of the trading done was usually for things or persons stolen by
the Comanche, which the Spanish wanted back. Most of the time it was people. The Comanche
would also encounter some American and German settlers in the late 1700 s early 1800 s.
However, the Comanche didn t really trade with them, they would just steal horses, cattle,
possessions and women and children, which they would sell back to the settlers of course.
Traditionally the homeland of the Comanche was the northern part of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas,

Cultural Religions In Ancient China
In ancient china there were two main cultural religions. These were Taoism and Buddhism.
Taoism is China s oldest religion. At one time, the land called China was the home of numerous
peoples with different racial origins. All these ethnic groups probably had their own special gods
and religious beliefs. Over time, kingdoms and empires grew in various areas and started
incorporating more and more people into them. One common theme in these kingdoms and
empires was a belief in life after death as can be seen in ancient tombs all over China. So people had
to pay homage to and care for the dead. Some Chinese have fear of the dead, and they try to obey
the dead or appease them. Another idea that is very strong in Chinese philosophyis as Chinese

The Main Achievements of Disraeli s Ministry 1874 1880 in the Field of Social Reform When
Disraeli was attempting to get back into government in 1873 and 1874, he made a number of
speeches to try to win voters. It is said that the speeches he made, especially the ones he made in
Manchester and at Crystal Palace, were very influential, and vital for the Conservatives recovery,
and eventual victory in 1874. The main target which the Conservative government would be
aiming for in the field of social reform, he said, would be to elevate the condition of the people . If
this was his real aim, we must look at the reforms his ministry introduced, and question whether

Overall, this was an Act which was exceedingly beneficial for the working man, and if applied in
his area, would improve his lifestyle a great deal. A different problem for the working class at
the time, and therefore a problem for Disraeli when trying to keep their votes, was the long
working hours the working people of England were having to endure. Although it did not satisfy
the demands of the Nine Hours Movement, a pressure group largely supported in Yorkshire and
Lancashire, the Factory Act of 1874 did reduce the number of maximum working hours in a day
to ten hours allowing a half day on Saturday. The Factories and Workshops Act of 1878 further
reinforced previous factory legislation and also applied to workshops, where only a dozen or so
people worked. For the Conservatives, this was a good achievement, and it pleased the working
class who literally sung the praise of Cross, the man who had brought in the Acts. This strongly
contributed to keeping the support of the working class on the Conservatives side, which was of
vital importance in a time when the working men made up a large proportion of the electorate. The
restrictions Gladstone s government had placed on Trade Unions had frustrated the working people
greatly. Even the Liberals had promised to change, the Criminal Law Amendment Act of 1871 if
they got back into power.

Theories of the Atonement
Erickson (1998) says there are a few theories on the atonement depending on how your read
certain scripture, the theories are as follows: The Socinian Theory (1998:801); This theory
speaks of Christ on the Cross as a perfect example of what kind of dedication followers of God
must do, there is no connection to a sacrificial death whatsoever. The moral influence theory
(1998:802); This theory believes the cross was an example of God s love and not much more.
The Governmental theory (1998:806); This theory sees the death of Christ on the Cross as
atonement and also as a picture to the believer as to how serious sin is, and it must not be taken
lightly. The Ransom Theory (1998:810); In this theory it is proposed, and quite popularly so, that...

Accordingly reconciliation proceeds by doing away with sin, and the method of doing this was
by the atoning death of Christ (Morris 1965:250). What is being said, and the conclusion we
have already come to, yet are just confirming, is that sin was our problem, God through Christ on
the cross was our solution, this is our atonement, Christ s death on the Cross, and this is our
Gospel. Moved by the perfection of His Holy love, God in Christ substituted himself for us
sinners. That is the heart of the cross of Christ... What God in Christ has done through the cross is
to rescue us, disclose Himself and overcome evil (Stott 2006:195).
So in Christ, believing in Christ, incorporated in Him, we can face the law without any fear,
without any tremor or quiver (Lloyd Jones 2003:336). The good Doctor here is speaking about
the law given to the Israelites for them to be set apart from other nations, and for them to be set
apart for God, the law was impossible to keep, yet there was a way around it with the animal
sacrifices, this Jesus fulfilled completely in His atoning death on the cross, the law no longer has
any power over those who believe in Jesus.
If he was going to accomplish the work that the Father sent Him to do, and if people were going to
be redeemed for God, then it was necessary for Him to die on the cross...there was no other way for
God to save us than for Christ to die in our place (Grudem

Reasons For The Fall Of Rasputin
In 1917, the Russian Empire collapsed after a long reign of almost 300 years. The effects of
World War I are said to have been the reason for the collapse of the once powerful dynasty.
However, was Gregori Rasputin the primary reason for the fall? The question that was once
whispered on thousands of Russians lips is still asked today. Who was Rasputin? Gregori
Rasputin was a Siberian peasant who not only intrigued everyone by his bushy beard and
piercing cold blue eyes, but by his mystic holy powers he claimed to have. He believed that God
had given him a gift for healing as during his childhood, he almost died. Despite these claims, at a
young age Rasputin had already acquired a reputation for debauchery and his birth name was
changed from Grigori Yefimovich Novykh to Gregori Yefmovich Rasputin. Rasputin meaning

18 as he embraced the Khlysty sect. Rasputin was happy with this sect as it preached that
prolonged sexual engagements were the best way to achieve the closest relationship with God. But

Similarities Between Monty Python And The Holy Grail
The movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a parody of the King Arthur s quest for the Holy
grail. The film mocked what a true noble quest was like and made it seem like a joke. Most
importantly, Monty Python and the Holy Grail satirized the chivalric code and behavior of
knights by making them and their practices look foolish and nonsensical. During the middle ages,
a knight was expected to follow the chivalric code like their life depended on it, because , in
reality, it did. The code included (but was not limited to): fearing God, respecting women, never
backing down from a challenge from a peer, and fighting to the end of anything started (Knights). In
the film, the idea of fighting to the end was mocked when the knight in the forest

Analysis Of Memento
Christopher Nolan s Memento follows Leonard Shelby in his vengeful quest to find the murderer
of his wife. Leo suffers from short term memory loss and traces any recent information and
memories through tattoos, notes, and photographs. Throughout the film, time is distorted yet linear.
Scenes in color are followed by ones in black and white. There is a sequential order to the film, but
it is not presented in that manner. Timeis treated as a changing, personal force rather than a solely
standardized, detached authority. This creates a beautiful dynamic within the film, for beauty, I
think, is seeing or portraying everyday concepts or things in a new light. My experience and

time is also real. The ambiguity and multiplicity of time in Memento challenges time s common
perception as undeviating and monotonous. This departure from the normal view of an everyday
concept exists within this scene and the entire film and, for me, make Memento

Comparing Dionysius And Socrates
Ethics are what separates civilized men from savages, driving their decisions, and determining
their destiny. The actions of both Dionysius and Socrates, in both Bacchae and Phaedrus
respectively, are driven by their personal ethics and beliefs in justice. Bacchae, a Greek tragedy
written by Euripides, tells the story of the Greek God Dionysus s arrival to ancient city of Thebes,
and the city s reaction towards him and his strange religion. Phaedrus on the other hand is a
dialogue, written by Plato, about a series of arguments between Socratesand Phaedrus starting with
what makes a good speech, journeying into the fundamental understanding of the universe itself.

promising to make undo any harm he causes after being accepted, warns that his rejection will

views on justice are what separates him from the other gods, in that he acknowledges the harm
his actions will bring to Thebes, promising to undo all the damage upon their acceptance of him,
while most of the other gods would leave after satisfying their quest for vengeance. The most
important line in this quote is the last sentence I ve transformed myself, assumed a mortal shape,

The Arab Spring During The Middle East And North African...
The Arab Spring brought revolutionary changes to the Middle East and North African region s
authoritarian republics while bypassing its autocratic monarchies. The monarchical exceptionalism
that has allowed these states to remain intact is due to a set of three overlapping factors crosscutting
coalitions, hydrocarbon rents, and foreign patronage. Collectively, these factors explain why most
of the royal autocracies never experienced widespread protest.
The eight Arab monarchies Jordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and the Persian Gulf states of Bahrain,
Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the UAE hold near absolute power. According to the Gause article, none
of the states qualify as constitutional kingships in which the enthroned incumbent exercises only
ceremonial influence while an elected parliamentary government makes policy. The region s kings
and emirs not only reign but they also rule. They are the lead decision makers in naming cabinets,
determining major domestic and foreign policies, controlling the state s coercive apparatus, and
allowing parliaments and judiciaries limited authority (Gause). According to Gause, the first
element of the strategic explanation for monarchical exceptionalism is one that links the historical
legacy of domestic choices with a permissive international environment. The majority of the
monarchies have used the tool of crosscutting coalitions thereby linking alliances of different social
constituencies to the ruling family. In general, dictators cannot

Disadvantages Of Bananas
You have probably heard of the recommendation that you should eat five fruits and vegetables per
day. Bananas are an excellent choice as one of your five per day. They contain a high amount of the
vitamins and minerals that your body needs and will provide you with many health benefits.
Bananas are high calories. According to some research, every 100 grams of bananas contains as
much as 378 joules. In some tropic areas, people feed themselves on bananas. But there are hidden
dangers if you eat too many bananas. This fruit also enjoys high reputation for its varied nutrition.
There are about 20 grams of carbohydrates, 1.2 grams of proteins, 0.6 grams of fat and other
various kinds of minerals and vitamins in every 100 grams of bananas. Of all the nutrition, vitamins
overwhelm the others. For instance, vitamin A can promote the growth of the human body and
improve the human body s immune system. It is necessary to maintain the procreation and protect
the eyes. And thiamine is useful to prevent and cure the beriberi and protect the nervous system as
well. Moreover, the riboflavin helps with the growth and development of children.
Bananas are ready to serve as a kind of fruit. They can be processed as well. For example, cooked
bananas are made into powders and then used as additives in cakes and bread. Or after fermented,
people can extract alcohol from them or produce banana wine. Mature bananas are also processed
into preserved fruit, juice or essence. Furthermore, the

Relationship Between Self Regulation And Motivation
Discussion: The articles chosen for this project provide developments in how teachers can motivate
students to self regulate their learning. Sansone and Thoman reach a conclusion in their research
that made a critical case of the relationship between self regulation and motivation. The purpose of
their argument was to explain the importance the interest experience plays in students maintaining
motivationin order to self regulate. They used research already completed to explain their suggestion
that the interest experience is the missing piece in the self regulation model . Wolters, Yu, and
Pintrich conclude from their study that students who adopt a learning goal orientation tend to show
more motivation towards self regulatory strategy use. They further conclude that motivation and
strategy use are strongly influenced by goal orientation and the outcomes are not just reflective of
stable individual difference . Wolters, Yu, and Pintrich, based on their results, explain that learning
goal orientation promotes motivational beliefs, which in turn led to higher levels of self regulation
when compared to the other goal orientations.
The articles through their conclusions each had their own strengths and weaknesses. Sansone and
Thoman s strengths were shown through the extensive amount of research they completed to
provide evidence to their arguments. They used a collection of different studies to explain their
argument that gave justification to their conclusions. The

Related the optimal choice rule of the leniency program by competition authority, Sauvagnat (2014)
use a model of collusion to study the relationship between number of reporting information by firms
and leniency rates. The former one depend the latter one. He found that a single informant rule ,
which means leniency only to one firm, play more important role on carteldeterrence than the a

heteroskedasticity on the OLS estimator is that it is still unbiased. * The effect of
heteroskedasticity on the OLS estimator standard errors are that the results in adjusted robust
standard errors cause the homoskedasticity results to be incorrect standard errors. Question 5: As
mentioned in class, one commonly employed solution to heteroscedasticity is to adjust the
standard errors for the possible presence of heteroskedasticity, i.e. we compute the
heteroskedasticity robust standard errors, which are also referred to as heteroskedasticity
consistent standard errors. Rerun the regression in part (2) with the OLS standard errors

discussed and it has been established that the output of a gap year differs for every person. This is
because every person goes through a different experience. Some light on the gap yearindustry has
also been shed and it has been established that the gap year industry needs to be regulated.

well planned in order to have the most fruitful results and effectively use the time during the gap
year
(122 words)
Introduction
A gap year can be broadly defined as taking a year off from formal education / work such as after
graduating high school and before going to a university / college. Just like every other thing in
the world, different people have different views about taking a gap year. According to some
people, a gap year is a good option and it is good to have a year off, while others disagree with
taking a gap year. The truth is that a gap year can prove to be beneficial or useless depending on
the person and the situation. A lot of studies have been conducted so far regarding the advantages
and disadvantages of taking a gap year. After throwing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hugh Jackman who is one of the most popular actors of today took a gap year in 1987 and taught

in Portugal. It was during that time that she started working on her manuscript for Harry Potter.

The Tragedy Of The Survivor
Not many people think of death as something that can be survived. After all, death is an inescapable
aspect of life for all things on Earth. There are, however, instances where death stares one in the
face and is repelled at the last moment. Whether this avoidance is right or wrong, the outcome will
have the same, everlasting effect. The survivor will forever carry that moment with them, haunted
by the injustice done to them. Robbed of the serenity that deathmay bring from bleak scenarios, life
becomes devoid of the vibrancy it once possessed. The survivor becomes a ghostwith a physical
form, walking with the burdens of their past resting on their minds. Analyzing the events that these
people encountered with this mindset can foster a greater sense of empathy toward the survivors.
The concept of human mortality is a daunting notion that everyone has to come to terms with
eventually. This idea that the life people lead will ultimately conclude can be accepted, and is made
easier with time to digest this thought. This process though, can be taken and twisted into
something that is toxic to the mind. When someone is faced with the certainty of death and they
have come to grips with the fact that it is inescapable, it is a form of torture to take this certainty
away. What this action does is invalidate the sense of reality that has been accepted by the victim.
It takes away the feeling of euphoria that comes with the acceptance of death, the release from life s
constraints.

Conspiracy In Othello And Catiline
The Conspiracy of Catiline and Cicero s Consulship
Cicero had many tough decisions during his life. One of these was what to do about Catiline and
his conspirators. Cicero had made a law that prohibited people from running for legislatures to not
be able to bribe voters in order to get elected. Catiline, while running for a position in the legislature,
knew that this law had been partially made because of him. Catiline wanted to obtain consulship
and overthrow the Roman government. Catiline, at first, just wanted to kill the two consuls, but
then he decided to kill all of the Senate. Although Catiline was planning on killing the men running
the government, he still tried to get legitimately elected. Catiline recruited other conspirators ...

Cicero and the Senate had to decide what the punishment for the conspirators should be. Multiple
people had different ideas about the punishment. Caesar wanted all of the conspirators goods to
be taken and put the conspirators into boroughs. Silanus wanted all the conspirators to be killed,
since they were trying to destroy the Republic and wage war against the country. Cato wanted
them to see what the punishment for other crimes similar to this one would be hoping this would
discourage conspiracies in the future. Cicero and the Senate decided to kill some of the men
while also letting some of them live. This decision was probably the most agreeable and best
decision, but it also caused Cicero problems for his own safety and the safety of the

Literary Analysis Of The Necklace
In The Necklace the authors choice of words, or diction, is very well articulated. I enjoyed this
story because the narrator, Guy de Maupassant sets us so much suspense with the tone of the
story. Madame Louisel essentailly loses a valuable item, or so she thought, and goes to major
extents and even life deminishing problems to just make it seem like she was not responsible
enough to take care of a necklace for a night. The story intially takes place at a ball that Madame
Louisel has been invited to by her husband. In the beginning of the story Madame is very
indecisive about making an appearance at the ball. She complained she did not have a dress,
any jewels, and she was scared she would look like a pauper (174). She did not want to look
poor around a bunch of rich woman, so she had asked a friend for a piece of jewelry to wear for
the night. Excited, she picks out the diamond necklace that seemed to stand out to her. She adored
it. The narrator describes it as lovliest of all, elegant, smiling, and radiating with joy (175). Having a
blast at the party, dancing, drinking, and not thinking about anything else, Madame left the ball
around four in the morning. Calling a cab, Madame and her husband were on their way home,
delighted with the fun night that they had. Finally arriving at home, they begin to get into
comfortable clothes when suddenly Madame notices that the diamond necklace she had borrowed
from a friend for the night had gone missing. Searching everyhwere

The Importance Of Being Successful As A Student
What is considered to have the key to success? Quoted by Charlie White The most important
thing is being passionate about what you re doing and always give it your all. That is the key to
success. All students have had the over whelming amount of stress to be successful. Stressing to
get the perfect score on a major grade or finding the determination to do a challenging assignment.
We wonder if all of our routines and tips used for school workactually guarantee our successas a
student. As it may only help somewhat and not give us the result we desire. Our mindset and
amount of work provided guarantees our success. Being successful as a student requires
determination, preparing for situations you will encounter as a student, and stopping
procrastination in its tracks.
First off, as a successful student you need to have a positive outlook on each situation you are
given. To succeed by trying your best is a part of determination. As students if we don t have any
determination than what do we have left to get any work completed? We have to have motivation
to get through doing any type of work provided. If we don t get any work done it means, we have
incomplete the task given which is not being successful or putting in your 100% effort. Being
determined requires getting task done efficiently and accomplishing goals. A real life situation of
this can be found everywhere and in everything you do. Determination can be found in school,
work, or in everyday activities you

Sonnet And Religion
In the following chapters, I am primarily concerned with how the sonnet functions as a purely
religious form. I am interested in the effects it has on the speaker in relation to his abstract object
of devotion, and those it has on the object of devotion in relation to the speaker. If we are to regard
the sonnet, historically, as an erotic act of devotion, what happens when this devotion is divine? Is
the position of God elevated (in its associations with the lover) or reduced (in its associations with
the earthly)? Is the position of the speaker, for that matter, elevated (to the godly) or reduced (in
contrast to God)? On a fundamental level, is the relationship between God and man necessarily
different than that of two lovers? These are the

The Use of Bandura s Social Learning Theory in Schools Essay
One of the central tenants of Albert Bandura s Social Learning Theory, which is also called
Social Cognitive Theory, is that aggression in children is influenced by the reinforcement of
family members, the media, and the environment (Bandura, 1975, pp. 206 208). Evans (1989)
suggested that the basis for Bandura s theories came from work completed by researchers Miller
and Dollard (1941) who suggested that human development is actively influenced by response
consequences (Evans, 1989, p. 4), but regardless of the impetus for Bandura s work, he is most
known for his work regarding aggressionin children. This paper will focus on why the principles of
Bandura s Social Learning Theory will benefit leaders in school environments as they... Show more

Therefore, from a human developmental perspective, the self efficacy characteristic can aid
students in comprehending the link between current behavior and future consequences (Evans,
1989). Bandura also noted that there were four distinct processes that influence a child s behavior
attention, retention, motor reproduction and motivation. During the attention phase, a child will
observe behaviors conducted around them and if this attention is thorough enough, the child will
absorb the reactions and reasons for the aggressive behavior modeled. Bandura believed that the
second stage, retention, is also vitally important because it is this re enactment that causes the
behavior to be transferred to the long term memory of the child. Of course, even if the child has
memorized the actions, they still need to have the physical attributes necessary to reproduce an
action they have seen, but there is little physical dexterity needed to hit or punch something (Isom,
1998). The final phase of this process is the motivation for the behavior. In Bandura s experiment
the children observed an adult praised for behaving badly, and this is enough, under Bandura s
theory, to cement those actions into a repeatable response by the child at a later stage. Bandura
believes this theory also supports the rise in the number of aggressive teens in high crime areas
(Isom, 1998). It is this correlation between

  • 2. Demand Curve, Supply Curve Equilibrium. The Demand Curve Demand Curve, Supply Curve Equilibrium The demand curve can be shown in a graph and it reflects the relationship between the price and amount of a commodity that people are able and willing to buy at a set price. The demand curve slopes downward because are more prone to buying a good as the price declines. For example, coffee drinkers may be willing to buy more cups of Starbucks coffee if a medium cup of regular coffee sells for $1.49 versus $2.10. Instead of buying one cup a day they may buy 2 or 3 cups a day. Lower prices increase the demand for higher quantities (Hill, n.d.). In many cases, the supply curve slopes upward from left to right, because the price of product and quantity supplied are correlated. Demand and supply curves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the government adopts a price control, there is no longer an equilibrium price determined by supply and demand. When government set price ceilings or price floors, they disrupt the normal direction of distributing available resources (Mankiw, 2015). A good example is when the government changes the minimum wage laws to increase the hourly rate in hopes of helping the poor, and this also results in others being unemployed. Since the companies would not have to pay more to produce the same quantity, they are forced to lay off some of their employees. The government has an influence on supply and demand by controlling the prices of certain goods and regulations in certain industries. The government can impose taxes on goods and services to raise revenue that may be used to subsidize projects and government funded programs. When taxes are imposed on goods and services, the government determines tax incidence, meaning who will pay taxes among those partaking in the market economy. Whether the levied tax is paid by the seller or the buyer, it affects both directly and indirectly (Hill, n.d.). For example, let s say that Starbuck s paid a tax on the import of whole coffee beans. Although the tax would be imposed on Starbucks the cost would be passed on to consumers of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Leadership Styles Of Leadership And Leadership My leadership philosophy is to be approachable, understanding and kind towards others. To make sound decisions under stressful situations. I believe that teamwork, communication and collaboration can resolve any challenge. To continue to grow and be an advocate for childcare to and be a good listener and communicator. To reflect on my process, and rely on mentors for guidance. In addition I will blend different styles of leadershipand theories to suit situations. Most importantly I want to be a leader who puts others first. Through personality assessments I learned that I needed to incorporate and balance various types of leadership skills such as participative, delegative and authoritarian. I learned to implement different leadership theories like Contingency, and Transnational leadership. I had to learn how to be a leader verses a manager. I also learned and incorporated different leadership roles such as community leadership, conceptual leadership and an advocacy leadership role. In developing good leadership skills, the personality assessment was the first step I took to discover what type of leader I am. I learned that I have a participative leadership style. This style often leads to effective and accurate decision making because I rely on my staff to help in the decision making process. However, I discovered that to be a good leader I needed to balance out my skills between participative, delegative and authoritarian styles. I began to take the lead and ... • 4. Essay on Summary and Analysis of The Pardoner s Tale Summary and Analysis of The Pardoner s Tale (The Canterbury Tales) Prologue to the Pardoner s Tale: The Host thinks that the cause of Virginia s death in the previous tale was her beauty. To counter the sadness of the tale, the Host suggests that the Pardoner tell a lighter tale. The Pardoner delays, for he wants to finish his meal, but says that he shall tell a moral tale. He says that he will tell a tale with this moral: the love of money is the root of all evil. He claims that during his sermons he shows useless trifles that he passes off as saints relics. He proudly tells about how he defrauds people who believed they have sinned. He states explicitly that his goal is not to save people from sin, but to gain money from them. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although he is one of the most developed characters, he is the character perhaps most defined by his profession. The Pardoner has substituted a system of values with a rote performance, which conforms to his profession, which substitutes a meaningless monetary transaction for penance for sin. The Pardoner therefore suggests a traditional Vice character who behaves strictly out of the most impure motives, but where he departs from vice characters, who shamelessly commit misdeeds for their own pleasure, is that he lacks the necessary amoral quality. The Pardoner is not a moral man, but he nevertheless has a moral system to which he most certainly does not adhere. The Pardoner s Tale: There once lived in Flanders a group of three rioters who did nothing but engage in irresponsible and sinful behavior. They were blasphemous drunkards who, while in a tavern one night, witnessed men carrying a corpse to its grave. A boy told the rioters that the dead man was one of their friends, slain by an unseen thief called Death. They remark that Death has slain thousands, and vow to slay Death themselves. The three drunken men go off to find Death, but only come across an ancient man shrouded in robes. He claims that Death will not take him, and says that they can find Death underneath a nearby oak tree. When they found the tree they only found bushels of gold. They decide to take the treasure and divide it evenly, but realize that if they immediate went ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Nature Of Love By Harry Harlow Harry Harlow was labeled as a man with a desire for learning about what he presumed love to be and consequently, dedicated his later career to the subject. Life presented him with ups and downs yet, he pursued his research with a vigor. He developed notions about the concepts of affection in contrast to bodily needs and what could possibly derive from one not receiving love. This guided him to establish observational research methods to study his ideas via the use of infant primates which, yielded both positive and negative outcomes. Harlow s article titled, The Nature of Love, relayed his explorations and discoveries, along with his future ideas. Harlow supposedly had a quiet and uneventful childhood, and his exhibited traits of big ambitions eventually led him to earn a Ph.D. from Stanford University. With respect to his personal life, Harlow s initial marriage ended when his wife left him due to his extreme dedication towards work, and his second wife passed away from cancer. Professionally, Harlow s career took place when behaviorism ruled the psychological field, and it was his controversial work that made him well known amongst his community. He was not intimidated by the status quo and thus, conducted experiments with primates to study the unchartered territory of affection. However, after the death of his second wife, Harlow had become distraught and depressed. His career started to falter, and he eventually retired in 1973 (Harry Harlow, 2014). Harlow ... • 6. Domestic Violence Affects Children s Development Introduction Thesis: Domestic violence can negatively affect children s development. (make more persuasive) Children all around the world witness domestic violence. Whether it s between parents, partners or even the elder. Does the parents, partners, or elder realize the affects that happen to their children? Witnessing domestic violence, children become fearful and anxious. They become this way because they never know when the next event may happen, fearing for themselves, mom or dad, and siblings. Also becoming worthless and powerless, feeling the need to keep their family a secret and/or not being able to talk to their own family about the abuse. Sometimes they feel like they are the reason why there is domestic violence in their home. If they look fine to you or others in the world that don t know about their family, they truly may not be fine at all inside. As reading it doesn t seem that the children are being hit in any of the domestic violence, but the parent that is being hit from their partner fear for the child/children. Domestic violence, can negatively affect children s development. (try to make more persuasive) General information about domestic violence Body Paragraph 1: By being in a domestic relationship, you would be cautious on what you say and do. • 7. Cultural Impact On Hurricane Katrina Hurricane Katrina was one of the most devastating natural disasters on record in the United States (Skinner, 2006) In August of 2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall along the Gulf Coast destroying buildings, homes and communities (Skinner, 2006). Storm surges and levee failures resulted in an estimated $108 billion in physical property damage, specifically in the areas of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama (Skinner, 2006). Furthermore, Katrina proved itself to be one of the deadliest disasters in U.S. history as it claimed the lives of more than 1,800 people (Skinner, 2006). The impact of natural disasters is often discussed in the context of physical destruction, economic or financial consequences, or loss of human lives. While all of these factors are certainly important in gaining a complete understanding of the devastation caused by natural disasters, the psychological impact these traumatic events have on survivors is often overlooked. Likewise, it is essential to consider the impact that local culture impact the government s response to disasters such as Hurricane Katrina in order to understand why black residents reported higher incidences of psychological distress than any other racial group. The areas most profoundly impacted by Hurricane Katrina have a history rooted deeply in racial discrimination and segregation (Chia Chen Chen, Keith, Airriess, Leong, 2007). Understanding this cultural history is essential in gaining a complete and comprehensive view on why ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Ceo Succession CEO SUCCESSION: THE ULTIMATE MEASURE OF BOARD PERFORMANCE by Clarke Murphy, The Corporate Board July/August 2010 Item number one on any description of corporate board duties is hiring and firing of a chief executive. However, success in CEO selection depends in large part on shaping a sound succession process from the board level. Shareholder advocates now see good CEO succession planning as a reflection of the quality of the board itself. Public debate regarding corporate governance issues tends to focus on one primary topic at a time, depending on the dictates of current events. Classified boards, overboarding, director compensation, risk management the attention of the corporate governance community has been focused on each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because it centers on an event thought to be in the distant future and whose timing is ill defined, it lacks urgency compared with day to day tasks. There is little perceived cost to putting it off. The inclination to put it off is exacerbated by the Pandora s box of issues that rigorous succession planning forces a board to confront. Identifying the competencies and experiences needed in the next CEO requires solidifying the company s long term strategic plan, which often involves the painful elimination of options. Succession planning also shines a bright light on how well the organization develops internal candidates (something explicitly called for in the Whole Foods shareholder proposal). The development of internal candidates in turn requires careful human capital management. Failure here can set off a horse race, or prompt the loss or demotivation of those executives who are not being considered for the top slot, but are valuable to the company. It also demands the establishment of consistent and objective benchmarking that includes not only internal candidates, but appropriate external candidates as well. Finally, successful succession planning demands the right attitude from the incumbent CEO. The naming of a successor is viewed by some as a personal prerogative, by others as a threat. Because succession planning is a tangible manifestation of the limited tenure of any CEO, it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Reflective Essay On The Father Of God As tears fell from my eyes and onto the light blue carpet, I heard words I never thought I would hear. One Sunday about three years ago, our assistant pastor preached a message, and after that, he announced that our pastor was stepping down. Because it was such a close knit church, we quickly learned that our pastor had committed adultery with one of my best friends mother. My familywas extremely upset and the whole church was distraught when we heard the news. I had no idea what to think. This man, whom I trusted, had baptized me and answered any questions I had. My family adored our pastor because he was such a great teacher of the Bible. I could not fathom how my pastor, a man of God, could be capable of a sin like this. After church that day, my family went out to eat. At the restaurant, my father mentioned that he wanted to try out a different church. This idea my father posed to my family was so foreign to me. This church family was all I had ever known since I was four years old. I continuously asked God: after eleven years, why did my family have to be uprooted. I could not understand how something like this could happen. The Bible says in Romans 8:28 that all things work together for the good of those who love God, but I did not understand how anything good could possibly come from my situation. My brother and my father were excited to visit new churches, but my feelings were the opposite. Despite my feelings, I decided I was going to be optimistic and give ... • 13. Essay on lumbar disc problems lumbar disc problems Summary The lumbar region of the human spine is a location that is very susceptible to injury and trauma. A majority of the population experience back pain at some time during their life, and although in most cases the pain subsides after a time of rest, there is an enormous need for treatment of this malady. The various typesof treatment for lumbar disc herniations include a more conservative method of rest, physical therapy, and anti inflammatory or non steroidal drugs. The nerve most commonly affected by a disc herniation is the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve originates between the third sacral(S 3), and fourth lumbar(L 5) vertebrae, is formed in the pelvis and exits through the greater sciatic foramen towards the gluteal region. It then travels laterally underneath the piriformis muscle towards the pudendal nerve, then divides travels anteriorly down the leg until it divides near the knee into the politeal and tibial nerves(Shanahan, 1997). A term herniated disc is used synonymously with ruptured or prolapsed discs. They describe a protrusion of the nucleous propulsus through the annulus fibrosus upon the spinal cord. Commonly herd terms such as a slipped or a bulging disc refer to the disc being close to herniation, but still remaining intact. In this case, the nucleus propulsus is contained, however, the contortion can still lead to decreased foraminal space, and sciatic nerve irritation. The symptoms for bulging or slipped discs are similar to those for a herniated disc, but are usually milder and less intense, thus requiring more conservative treatments(Shanahan, 1997). • 14. Reflective Essay On Social Work As a senior, I thought this was the perfect time to get an in depth look at a career field that I was considering. The main reason I decided to take a career internship was to be exposed to a side of business that I had not been previously and to see if it is something I may want to pursue. The spring semester included interning at the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber of Commerce is located on East Market Street in Elkin, North Carolina. The timeof the internship period was mid day from 11:30 A.M to 1:00 P.M. This time frame allowed me to be exposed to many lunch meetings that took place. My mentor, Myra Cook, is the president of the Chamber of Commerce. Her role is to help businesses succeed and to promote them to the town of Elkin. At the Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce, many valuable skills were learned such as: filing, how to make contacts with different businesses, and planning different community events. In the future, I want to major in non profit management and social work with hopes of opening my own non profit someday. My non profit organization would focus on teaching people who did not receive a proper education learn job and interview skills and help them enter the workforce. When first arriving at the Chamber of Commerce, the first thing that is done is filing the new paperwork, bills, and receipts. Throughout the day, typical duties include answering phone calls and helping travellers that come in to the chamber. These travellers typically ask ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both of these faulted products could have caused harm to the children. This is why it was decided to recall all these products and take measures to prevent this from happening in the future. Various stakeholders were affected by this crisis, for example parents, children, manufacturers and investors. Which is why Mattel had to come with a strong crisis communicationstrategy. Within a few days the factory that produced the tainted toys was identified and the production was stopped. An investigation was launched to determine the scope of the problem. Because being honest and direct when addressing the target audiences about what happened is of utmost importance. Mattel communicated the new safety regulations, the reassurance that measures had been taken to prevent this from happening in the future and a public apology from the CEO clearly. • 19. Essay On The Movie Whale Rider In the movie Whale Rider directed by Niki Caro, many important objects are used to foreshadow the later events involving protagonist Paikea Apirana, a young girl forbidden by tradition to become the chief of her tribe. Although the outcome of the film seems quite unprecedented at first, Director Caro conceals many clues regarding the ending for the audience to discover. She does this through the use of camera angles, dialogue and props, notably through the use of the rope, the Taiaha and the Rei Puta. Furthermore, while making links to certain scenes in the movie, Niki Caro has hidden life lessons and morals regarding discrimination, prejudice and leadership that the audience can closely relate to and learn from. Firstly, an important object in Whale Rider is the Rope. It is used to repair a motor, and is used by Koro to represent the tribe s ancestors. This is shown in the two shot of Koro and Paikea repairing the motor, and Koro s dialogue tells Paikea that each one of those threads is one of your ancestors, all joined together and strong . The rope is also important as it foreshadows Paikea becoming the Chief of the tribe. The rope is said by Koro to symbolise the ancestry and community of the people of Whangara, but Koro breaks that wire, thus breaking the community. However, Paikea mends the rope that Koro broke, foreshadowing the mending of the community that can be seen at the end of the movie. This is shown in a medium shot of Paikea mending the rope and even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They become even more important in the Asian and African context, where a majority of population is residing in rural areas. For centuries the rural world in India was static as a self sufficient unit of production and consumption, but it is no longer so. The rural setting is changing every day, with the corporate sector acting both as the carrier and bearer of the consequences of this change which is happening at an accelerating rate. Demographic profiles and spending patterns in rural India too are changing and marketers have to junk their old perception about rural India. Rural consumers who were on the receiving end so far are now gradually getting into position to dictate terms for the first time. Although there is a long way to go, the beginning has already been made. Corporate world needs to realize that, to be successful in the rural market, they must go in with a clear long term strategy. There must be a willingness to invest in rural market with as much energy as they utilise to build brands in the urban one. Since rural efforts take longer to give sustained results, they must be prepared for a long haul. Short term efforts may not deliver the desired results on a sustained basis in rural areas. A ... Her is a quirky, truly 21st century story that breaks barriers by asking not who, but rather what we can love. Set in Los Angeles in the unspecified near future, Theodore, a lonely writer in the midst of a divorce, stumbles into an unprecedented romance with his Operating System, Samantha. The film raises scientific, philosophical, and even moral questions, while never straying from its true purpose, which is to examine not only the way we love, but the way we interact with other people in a world that seems to rely more and more on technology to function. Writer and Director Spike Jonzeinvites the audience to have open mind and undergo an individual exploration to these questions through the eyes of the characters. The film showcases the infusion of technology into our lives and the challenges it creates for the way we look at the world. The unconventional nature of Theodore and Samantha s relationship is what drives them both together and apart. It sets limitations on their abilities as a couple, but creates a bond that is extremely personal. The main limitation is the fact that Theodore is only able to get to know Samantha by hearing her speak, since there is no ability to see her or touch her. It is an enduring question, and one that many artists have attempted to answer throughout the centuries. Today however, the focus is on one artist (Virgil), one book (The Aeneid), and one character (Aeneas). According to Aeneas, there are two fundamental kinds of love, passionate love and pious love. With the use of fire imagery, Virgil makes references to these two forms of love. However, he makes it clear that they are very different and are not to be confused with one another. A conflict occurs between these two different forms of love which causes each to highlight the other. When Aeneas recounts the story of the fall of Troy, he does so tearfully, because Troy was his home. He does, however, and the picture that follows is famous: he carries his father Anchises on his back, he holds his son Ascanius s hand, and Creusa, his wife, lags behind. Creusa is symbolic of his romantic past as she is lost in the fall of Troy. Anchises is the intellectual past, and Ascanius has the potential to mold the future Rome. Ascanius even sports a holy flame on his head, a sure sign of the Gods, convincing Anchises to leave burning Troy with the family. Aeneas is often referred to as pious, and therefore it makes perfect sense then that Aeneas would place his family and home at the top of the list in importance. Even though Troy is gone, Aeneas in part finds a new Troy in Italy for his family and fellow countrymen. There was more to piety than just religion, however. Piety was, after all, family first, then the state, and lastly Gods. As according to Beryl Rawson, Pietas often focused on the reciprocal relationship between parents and children: they owed each other affection and duty. Aeneas personified this, in his relationships with father Anchises and son Ascanius. There are several mentions of fire and flame imagery, of course. It d be absurd not to notice. However, the most critical part is that Virgil places one above the other. With the negative fire imagery of passionate romance, it can be inferred that Virgil thought it was ... His theory: the infant and young child should experience a warm, intimate, and continuous relationship with his mother (or permanent mother substitute) in which both find satisfaction and enjoyment. John Bowlbybelieved just like Freud, that mental health as well as behavioral issues could be traced and attributed back to the child s early ages. Before Mary Ainsworthwould come on scene, John Bowlby enlisted the help of James Robertson. The two would spend two years observing hospitalized and institutionalized children who had been separated from their parents. James Robertson left after he could no longer go on observing and being uninvolved, he needed to do something for the children that he had been observing. In the 1930 s, John Bowlby worked as a Child psychiatrist at the Guidance Clinic in London where he treated many emotionally disturbed children. He was led to think about the importance of an infant or child s relationship with their mother and their social, emotional and cognitive development. Here is where he would form his attachment theorythat would contradict the original theory of behavioral theory . A different problem for the working class at the time, and therefore a problem for Disraeli when trying to keep their votes, was the long working hours the working people of England were having to endure. Although it did not satisfy the demands of the Nine Hours Movement, a pressure group largely supported in Yorkshire and Lancashire, the Factory Act of 1874 did reduce the number of maximum working hours in a day to ten hours allowing a half day on Saturday. The Factories and Workshops Act of 1878 further reinforced previous factory legislation and also applied to workshops, where only a dozen or so people worked. For the Conservatives, this was a good achievement, and it pleased the working class who literally sung the praise of Cross, the man who had brought in the Acts. This strongly contributed to keeping the support of the working class on the Conservatives side, which was of vital importance in a time when the working men made up a large proportion of the electorate. • 36. The Arab Spring During The Middle East And North African... The Arab Spring brought revolutionary changes to the Middle East and North African region s authoritarian republics while bypassing its autocratic monarchies. The monarchical exceptionalism that has allowed these states to remain intact is due to a set of three overlapping factors crosscutting coalitions, hydrocarbon rents, and foreign patronage. Collectively, these factors explain why most of the royal autocracies never experienced widespread protest. The eight Arab monarchies Jordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and the Persian Gulf states of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the UAE hold near absolute power. According to the Gause article, none of the states qualify as constitutional kingships in which the enthroned incumbent exercises only ceremonial influence while an elected parliamentary government makes policy. The region s kings and emirs not only reign but they also rule. They are the lead decision makers in naming cabinets, determining major domestic and foreign policies, controlling the state s coercive apparatus, and allowing parliaments and judiciaries limited authority (Gause). According to Gause, the first element of the strategic explanation for monarchical exceptionalism is one that links the historical legacy of domestic choices with a permissive international environment. Each creation myth was tailored to each individual tribe s culture, customs, and beliefs. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to compare and analyze the creation stories of two prominent Native American tribes present in Texas: the Comanche and the Apache; warrior tribes that rode fiercely on horseback, and both competed to dominate the Great Plains. These two tribes were fairly similar in their military prowess, but both had a different language, culture, and a remarkably different creation story. From their creation story, one may begin to understand the culture of these two notable tribes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The name Apache is believed to be derived from the Zuni word apachu , meaning enemy . After their arrival in the Southwest, the Apache split into two groups: the Lipans and the Mescaleros. • 40. Giant Sundew Research Paper The Drosera magnifica, aka Giant Sundew, was discovered in Brazil in 2012 through photographs posted on Facebook. This species discovered in Brazil is record setting being known as the largest sundew ever seen in the New World with growth of up to 123 cm (ESF, n.d.). Other known sundew plants can be found in Alaska to New Zealand and even Australia, as well as South America and southern Africa (Learn About Nature, n.d.). Members of the Droseraceae family are known for arresting and absorbing insects through stalked mucilaginous glands which is spread over the surface of their leaves (Learn About Nature, n.d.). Sundews are also known to be self productive due to the fact that their flowers often self pollinate upon closing (Learn About Nature, n.d.). What a beautiful species! The color is just absolutely gorgeous. When I was searching for additional facts regarding the ruby seadragon, I found that the animal s coloring suggests it inhabits deeper waters than the Leafy and Common Seadragons, as the red shading would be absorbed at depth and effectively serve as... Your post was very interesting on how this particular species hadn t had interactions with other wolf species in over 800,000 years! That is almost unbelievable! During my research of this species, it looks as if during the 20th century, wolves were not even recorded on the southern slopes of the Himalayas in Nepal. It is interesting that originally it was thought to be a subspecies of the gray wolf, but due to the vast differences amongst the two species, they decided to give it its own name (National Geographic, 2016). I think it is crucially important to focus on conservation of these species. The wooly wolf was able to evolve in isolation without mixing from other wolf and domestic dog lineages and are quite a rare species to spot in the Himalayas and therefore protecting this species is quite important (National Geographic, ... • 41. Relationship Between Self Regulation And Motivation Discussion: The articles chosen for this project provide developments in how teachers can motivate students to self regulate their learning. Sansone and Thoman reach a conclusion in their research that made a critical case of the relationship between self regulation and motivation. The purpose of their argument was to explain the importance the interest experience plays in students maintaining motivationin order to self regulate. They used research already completed to explain their suggestion that the interest experience is the missing piece in the self regulation model . Wolters, Yu, and Pintrich conclude from their study that students who adopt a learning goal orientation tend to show more motivation towards self regulatory strategy use. They further conclude that motivation and strategy use are strongly influenced by goal orientation and the outcomes are not just reflective of stable individual difference . Wolters, Yu, and Pintrich, based on their results, explain that learning goal orientation promotes motivational beliefs, which in turn led to higher levels of self regulation when compared to the other goal orientations. The articles through their conclusions each had their own strengths and weaknesses. Sansone and Thoman s strengths were shown through the extensive amount of research they completed to provide evidence to their arguments. They used a collection of different studies to explain their argument that gave justification to their conclusions. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Related the optimal choice rule of the leniency program by competition authority, Sauvagnat (2014) use a model of collusion to study the relationship between number of reporting information by firms and leniency rates. The former one depend the latter one. He found that a single informant rule , which means leniency only to one firm, play more important role on carteldeterrence than the a first informant rule if they want to minimize the fines reduction in whole cartels level. One the other hand, he also mention that the risk of a single informant rule, which is the firm might be fair other firm will report by competitor first, in practice, can be minimize if this rule can be during a period over which the privacy of leniency applications could be guaranteed (Sauvagnat 2014, p 325). Different ways have been taken to analysis the effect of leniency policy. Similar to Brenner (2009), which provide the effects in short term and long term with the help of the leniency programs (see the empirical discussion in section 4), Harrington and Chang (2009) providing a method by observing the population of discovered cartels to measure the short run impact of program on cartel fighting and present whether it can help decrease the rate of cartels. He concludes: if these policies have, in fact, been effective in reducing the rate of cartel formation then we ought to observe a short run increase in the duration of discovered cartels. • 45. The Tragedy Of The Survivor Not many people think of death as something that can be survived. After all, death is an inescapable aspect of life for all things on Earth. There are, however, instances where death stares one in the face and is repelled at the last moment. Whether this avoidance is right or wrong, the outcome will have the same, everlasting effect. The survivor will forever carry that moment with them, haunted by the injustice done to them. Robbed of the serenity that deathmay bring from bleak scenarios, life becomes devoid of the vibrancy it once possessed. The survivor becomes a ghostwith a physical form, walking with the burdens of their past resting on their minds. Analyzing the events that these people encountered with this mindset can foster a greater sense of empathy toward the survivors. The concept of human mortality is a daunting notion that everyone has to come to terms with eventually. This idea that the life people lead will ultimately conclude can be accepted, and is made easier with time to digest this thought. This process though, can be taken and twisted into something that is toxic to the mind. When someone is faced with the certainty of death and they have come to grips with the fact that it is inescapable, it is a form of torture to take this certainty away. What this action does is invalidate the sense of reality that has been accepted by the victim. It takes away the feeling of euphoria that comes with the acceptance of death, the release from life s constraints. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of these was what to do about Catiline and his conspirators. Cicero had made a law that prohibited people from running for legislatures to not be able to bribe voters in order to get elected. Catiline, while running for a position in the legislature, knew that this law had been partially made because of him. Catiline wanted to obtain consulship and overthrow the Roman government. • 48. Literary Analysis Of The Necklace In The Necklace the authors choice of words, or diction, is very well articulated. I enjoyed this story because the narrator, Guy de Maupassant sets us so much suspense with the tone of the story. Madame Louisel essentailly loses a valuable item, or so she thought, and goes to major extents and even life deminishing problems to just make it seem like she was not responsible enough to take care of a necklace for a night. The story intially takes place at a ball that Madame Louisel has been invited to by her husband. In the beginning of the story Madame is very indecisive about making an appearance at the ball. She complained she did not have a dress, any jewels, and she was scared she would look like a pauper (174). She did not want to look poor around a bunch of rich woman, so she had asked a friend for a piece of jewelry to wear for the night. Excited, she picks out the diamond necklace that seemed to stand out to her. She adored it. The narrator describes it as lovliest of all, elegant, smiling, and radiating with joy (175). Having a blast at the party, dancing, drinking, and not thinking about anything else, Madame left the ball around four in the morning. Calling a cab, Madame and her husband were on their way home, delighted with the fun night that they had. Finally arriving at home, they begin to get into comfortable clothes when suddenly Madame notices that the diamond necklace she had borrowed from a friend for the night had gone missing. I am interested in the effects it has on the speaker in relation to his abstract object of devotion, and those it has on the object of devotion in relation to the speaker. If we are to regard the sonnet, historically, as an erotic act of devotion, what happens when this devotion is divine? Is the position of God elevated (in its associations with the lover) or reduced (in its associations with the earthly)? Is the position of the speaker, for that matter, elevated (to the godly) or reduced (in contrast to God)? On a fundamental level, is the relationship between God and man necessarily different than that of two lovers? These are the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. The Use of Bandura s Social Learning Theory in Schools Essay One of the central tenants of Albert Bandura s Social Learning Theory, which is also called Social Cognitive Theory, is that aggression in children is influenced by the reinforcement of family members, the media, and the environment (Bandura, 1975, pp. 206 208). Evans (1989) suggested that the basis for Bandura s theories came from work completed by researchers Miller and Dollard (1941) who suggested that human development is actively influenced by response consequences (Evans, 1989, p. 4), but regardless of the impetus for Bandura s work, he is most known for his work regarding aggressionin children. Therefore, from a human developmental perspective, the self efficacy characteristic can aid students in comprehending the link between current behavior and future consequences (Evans, 1989). Bandura also noted that there were four distinct processes that influence a child s behavior attention, retention, motor reproduction and motivation. During the attention phase, a child will observe behaviors conducted around them and if this attention is thorough enough, the child will absorb the reactions and reasons for the aggressive behavior modeled. Bandura believed that the second stage, retention, is also vitally important because it is this re enactment that causes the behavior to be transferred to the long term memory of the child. Of course, even if the child has memorized the actions, they still need to have the physical attributes necessary to reproduce an action they have seen, but there is little physical dexterity needed to hit or punch something (Isom, 1998). The final phase of this process is the motivation for the behavior. In Bandura s experiment the children observed an adult praised for behaving badly, and this is enough, under Bandura s theory, to cement those actions into a repeatable response by the child at a later stage. Bandura believes this theory also supports the rise in the number of aggressive teens in high crime areas (Isom, 1998). It is this correlation between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
