Robert s Blindness
The narrator in the play is portrayed as superficial, self centered, and egotistical. Although his actions
demonstrate his character he lacks comprehension in the way relationships and people are presented to
him, which clearly shows his tragic flaw: although Robert takes the place of a physically blind
character the narrator is one who is mentally blind. In the husband s eyes, Robert s blindness is his
identifier. In actuality, any prejudice based on gender; race, or disability takes form in a person who
lacks the ability to look past false qualities. People who discriminate other people based on
characteristics only see the features, but not the actual person. Without thinking the husband placed

All the difficult details of the narrator s wife s past, including her marriage, suicide attempt, and
divorce, have been recorded and sent to Robert, who has recorded responses in return. Robert is the
person to whom the narrator s wife has turned to when she needed to talk. The narrator s wife is glad
to see him, but since he cannot see her, their interaction is only slightly different from the back and
forth conversation they ve been carrying on through the tapes. I believe that the relationship between
the Robert and the narrator s wife very healthy. This makes the narrator extremely jealous of their
relationship, They talk of things that had happened to them to them! These past ten years. I waited in
vain to hear my name on my wife s sweet lips. (37) His relationship with his wife has been extremely
distant because of his inability to focus on her instead of his drugs , And I guess I was. Every night I
smoked dope and stayed up as long as I could before I fell asleep. My wife and I hardly ever went to
bed at the same time. (390)
2. Is there some significance in the object that the two men focus their energies on at the conclusion of
the story? What if their project had been focusing on something else? Do the narrator and reader share

Argumentative Essay On Religious Discrimination
Religious Discrimination Discrimination, a word that can meet quite a lot, there are many different
types of discrimination some of course are harsher than others. There s just one type of discrimination
that has been on the rise for some time now, and that s persecution. Persecution just means bad
treatment simply because of race, political, or religious beliefs. The area that has been hit over and
over for some time is religious persecution. A very sad but true reality for many people having to hide
to worship their beliefs. The most persecuted religion in the world may come to a shock to some
people, but the most persecuted religion is Christianity. Followed by Islam, and third is Judaism.
Christianity is the most popular religion in the United States, but is the least popular worldwide. To
put it in perspective, Christians are persecuted in over 130 countries for just their beliefs. To add on to
that, each month about 322 Christians are killed, along with that each month 214 Christian churches
and properties are destroyed. Out of all the religions in the world, none are more persecuted than
Christians, with all of this in mind it s something else when most people have no idea of this at all.
Through several surveys I found that 7 out of 10 people thought that other religions such as Islam and
Judaism are more persecuted than Christians. Why is it that as popular as Christianity is in the United
States, that there is so little people that accurately know what is

Government Polls
National polls are an important tool used by political parties and news outlets to gauge how the public
feels about current issues or political candidates. Only one month into his presidency, President
Donald Trump is facing a lot of heat from the public, and that is very evident in the polls. Polls can be
used for both good and evil. Some are used to promote agendas or favor towards certain politicians or
policy, while others can be used to simply see where the public stands on current issues.
Currently, according to Gallup, polls are showing that President Donald Trump s first month approval
ratings are below average first month ratings by 21 points (Gallup). While the average approval
number by the end of February is 61%, Trump s numbers are at 40%. The last time approval ratings
were this low within a president s first month was in 1993, when Bill Clinton stepped into office.
There are many reasons for our president s low numbers, ranging ... Show more content on

One thing that I found odd while researching for this paper is the variety of poll results across a small
selection of sources. For instance, CNN posted a poll update in late January, stating that our President
s job approval ratings were at an all time low at 36%. Underneath the large heading and introductory
statement, they mentioned that the information was gathered by one national poll that was provided by
one university. Should the findings of one poll, given by one university, be published as if they
represent all of the American population s views? Personally, I do not feel the need to pay attention to
polls when it comes to national politics. I am generally distrusting of the agendas that many news
outlets support when it comes to national polls, even though I still believe that polls aren t entirely
unnecessary. I fully support the idea of giving the public a way to compare views and express personal

Analysis Of Katharine Cook Briggs And Her Daughter, Isabel...
Have you ever wondered why you get along with your best friends? Or maybe you are dying to know
why particular coworkers get under your skin. Perhaps routine quarreling with your cousin frustrates
you. Well, once I concluded after much research that I am the ENFJ personality type, I learned not
only how my type relates to the ESTJ type, but also that each person s unique perception of the world
causes many social conflicts due to individuals perceiving and responding to things opposite from
their peers. In order to better understand myself and others, I turned to the reliable, comprehensive
Jung typology test developed by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers. This
test is based on the work of famous early twentieth century psychologist Carl Jung. The test
determines one s personality type based on four parameters an introverted/extraverted scale, an
intuition/sensing scale, a feeling/thinking scale, and a judging/perceiving scale. By answering a series
of questions aimed at determining specific behavioral functions and dispositions, the applicant is
given four letters corresponding with the four parameters to represent his or her personality. Sixteen
letter combinations representing sixteen different personalities are possible. After taking multiple
typology tests offered by various websites and sifting through the often conflicting results, I concluded
that I am an ENFJ personality type. First, I took the test offered by Humanmetrics, which

Cleo 5 To 7 Essay
Cleo from 5 to 7 and Breathless are French films that represent time as themes. By using time as an
important aspect of the film, the audience is drawn to the plot and eager to learn what the outcome is
after time runs out in the film. Time as a theme is possible through formal qualities of film that would
not be possible without these certain qualities. Cleo from 5 to 7 and Breathless may both have time as
significant themes, but each film uses time to create an original story.
Cleo from 5 to 7 is essentially about the story of a woman s past, present, and future. The setting is in
virtually real time created by the film while she confronts the probability of being sick with cancer
(Mast). In film, real time often means when the time of an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Right from the start, Cleo from 5 to 7 begins with showing time as subtitles, indicating that something
important is happening and one will have to keep time in mind in order to understand why something

engaged and involved in the traumatic stress and overwhelming sadness Cleo felt at that very moment.
The audience then curiously follows Cleo through her day as she waits for the news from the doctor
the real time of the film. The viewer gets to know more about Cleo s life and her personality, like her
self obsession as mirrors often appeared in the film and her celebrity status in Paris as a French singer.
The audience watches as Cleo kills time by keeping busy in order to find out if she truly has cancer or
not one follows Cleo to the hat store, her apartment, her friend s place, the park, etc. The implication
behind following Cleo s day is to understand that by doing daily everyday activities, Cleo is
attempting to waste time and does not actually care for the day besides receiving the results of her
cancer situation. This changes, however, towards the end of the film when

William Faulkner was Born in New Albany, Mississippi on September 25, 1897 to Murry and Maud

caretaker, an African American woman named Caroline Barr. William called her Mammy . Barr was
one of the most influential people in his life. She was fundamental to his development in his early
years. He said later on that it was a privilege to have known her and that she was the one who taught
him right from wrong and sparked his interest in the politics of sexuality and race. Faulkner s

Adaptive Immune System Vs Innate Defense
with something called apoptosis or a programmed cell death, that kills the infected cells. But this is the
first defense, which is called the Innate defense system (keep out, or quietly neutralizes, pathogens).
The second defense is called the Adaptive immune system. When a white blood cell meets a new
disease, it tries to meet with it and remember it from a threat to a friend. This ability to remember
specific pathogens is one of the key differences between the adaptive and innate defenses. The
Adaptive immune system can fight the new or known diseases throughout the whole body by two
defenses, the Humoral immunity, and Cellular defenses. The humoral immunity despatches something
called antibodies. Antibodies are made by special white blood cells and control the body s humor or
fluids, like blood. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

lymphocytes to fight at one specific antigen. Some become Effector cells, Memory cells, or more B

pathogens either randomly or on purpose. The last and final defense are called the Cellular immune
response. There are different names for these types of white blood cells and they are called T cells.
The different type of T cells is Helper T cells, Cytotoxic cells, Memory T cells, Suppressor T cells,

Judicial Tyranny The New Kings Of America
The book Judicial Tyranny The New Kings of America? is a compilation of articles and speeches. It is
compiled by Mark Sutherland and includes writings from famed Christian personality James C.
Dobson Chief Justice Roy Moore, Ambassador Alan Keyes, U.s Attorney General Ed Meese, among
others. The book is a call to political action. It is aimed at Christian readers and the writers all argue
that Christian politics equals constitutional purism. It is specifically meant to invoke constitutional
responses and activism. Each chapter, twenty in all, are a few pages long and systematically decry the
current judicial system and explain the lack of constitutional basis for their current level of power.
The book s primary source of inspiration seems to be the lawsuit involving Alabama Chief Justice Roy
Moore. The case was highly publicized and Moore s refusal to carry out the ultimate ruling led to his
removal from office. Chief Justice Moore was removed from office in which a majority of citizens of
Alabama elected him to serve for acknowledging God with the placement of a monument that contains
the Ten Commandments and for refusing to remove that monument. The majority of the writers in
Judicial Tyranny reference his case extensively and an excerpt from Roy Moore s book ( So Help Me
God, 2005) appears as Chapter seven in Judicial Tyranny. The remainder of the book does do an
admittedly excellent job of weaving historical quotes and happenings into all of the writings so that

Theme Of Family In Water For Elephants
Believing in Creating Families
The novel Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen presents a dramatic and emotional plot about a boy,
Jacob, who joins the circus after losing everything. As readers join Jacob on his journey, the question
of what constitutes family is answered and the theme family can be created by those who love a
person is revealed. Like Jacob people may feel alone and lost but, there is a family out there
somewhere, even if they are a bit unconventional. Water for Elephants resonates with my beliefs about
family by expressing the theme, family does not always mean those one is born to but those one has
found to love and care for. My beliefs allowed me to better understand the theme, connect with
characters, as well as strengthen my beliefs by reading such an emotional novel with the theme
centered on creating a family.
I was instilled with the belief family does not mean people who share DNA, rather people who share
love and compassion for one another. This allowed me to better understand the theme about creating
families the author explains in the novel. By understanding the basics of the theme, I know families
created are just as or more strong and loving than those which are born. For instance, when Uncle Al
is unfair to Jacob, Camel reassures Jacob, You re a good kid, and I ain t about to stand by and watch
you mope off cuz that fat old grouch don t got time. (Gruen 53) Jacob found a family in many people
from the circus and the strength of that family is

The turning point arrived soon. In January of 1994 Cisco systems failed. Thus the inability of the
system to perform forced towards the utilization of unauthorized methods for accessing the core
application database which lead to the corruption of Cisco s database. Consequently the company shut
down virtually for two days.
Seeking for a new start
After the shutdown managers realized that the autonomous approach was not sufficient. There was the
need for a more integrated action, indeed separated decisions among the departments would have
taken too long. As a result the company gathered an Implementation Team to investigate on the
replacement of the application.
Thanks to the previous experience of the SVP of manufacturing Carl Redfield it was clear that the
implementation of IT projects can take a long time to be effective. In order to make the
implementation as quick as possible Redfield suggested to implement the project all at once and to do
not personalize the new system. Projects that are divided into phases and customized tend to take
longer time to be efficient, and many times they tend to become only an adaptation of the previous
method. He suggested also to make the implementation a priority for every department: the
involvement of the entire company is important for the effectiveness of the project.
Other than selecting within the company the best components for the Implementation Team, it was
important also finding

Mise-En-Scene In The Great Gatsby
I will be evaluating Lurhman s use of mise en scene and its success in reflecting the narrative and
emotions of the characters. I will be assessing two scenes from two movies (The Great Gatsby, Romeo
and Juliet). I believe that the Fish tank scene in Romeo and Juliet then the scene when Nick meets
Gatsby is another successful scene. In The Great Gatsby the mise en scene is used to show off the
romance and magnificence of Jay Gatsby it is used to describe his personality and economic status. In
Romeo and Juliet the success comes from the symbolism of the water and the use of camera position.
Mise en scene is an expression used to describe the design aspects of a theatre or film production,

A Philosophical Analysis Of An Idea Presented By Ludwig...
A philosophical analysis of an idea presented by Ludwig Wittgenstein in On Certainty Introduction
Countless philosophers, from centuries ago to modern times, have investigated the concept of
inherited ideas. Some of the more daunting questions on the subject seem to be: From where do these
ideas originate? Can we trust them? Do they serve as an objective foundation for the rest of our
judgments, or are they in fact mere judgments themselves? Ludwig Wittgenstein addresses such
questions in his written work On Certainty, and deduces that in some cases, an inherited idea is so
anchored [in me] that I cannot touch it (no. 103). This paper will examine the definition of this idea
and the argument that lies behind it, while also addressing the various objections that could be made to
such an argument. Explanation of Idea In On Certainty, Wittgenstein arrives at the conclusion that
some of my ideas are so anchored in me that I cannot touch them. The key message Wittgenstein is
conveying here is that certain ideas are inherited, innate for everyone. The term anchored , in its literal
sense, refers to watercraft being held securely in a fixed spot by aid of a curved, weighted implement
to which it is connected. In using this term, Wittgenstein creates the imagery of our intellect, our
perception, being like a sea, and our ideas like ships. This illustration suggests that some of the ideas
we have are in motion, changing as a result of our experiences and investigations

Artists that Influenced The Beatles Essay
In the eyes of many, The Beatles are one of the most influential bands of the 20th century. They have
influenced me in my everyday life and so many great musicians in the past 50 years. This fact alone,
makes it hard to imagine that they were once influenced by someone else. While doing some research,
I found various artists that influenced them through the beginning of their careers until the very end.
In the following paragraphs, I will be sharing with you a few of the artists I thought to be the most

John was fascinated not only with Presley s voice, but also by the jagged guitar work that propelled
Heartbreak Hotel (Hall 1). The Beatles admired him not only for his music, but for his style. They
quickly slicked their hair back, got sideburns, tight jeans called drainpipes , and crepe soled shoes, all
in true Elvis style. John was so inspired by Elvis, that it drove him to create his first skiffle group
called The Quarrymen. Another early influence of The Beatles, was one of the most influential guitar
players of early rock and roll, Chuck Berry. Berry was known for cultivation and development of
rhythm and blues music. He is known as one of rock and roll s pioneers. Not only was Berry s style
heard a lot in early Beatles albums, his songs Roll Over Beethoven and Rock and Roll Music were
later covered by The Beatles. In 1963, The Beatles reached their first number one hit. Though Please
Please Me has more of a high energy fast tempo, the song was inspired by Roy Orbison s 1960 hit

of Roy Orbison s song writing and distinct singing approach. Roy Orbison had one of the most
distinctive and expressive voices, with a three to four octave range to match, in rock and pop music
(Tranquillo 24). Another influence found in the chart topper was The Everly Brothers. The opening

Prior to entering class, I deemed myself a competent writer. However, I quickly discovered that my
writing involved mediocre writing precepts. In contrast to the principles of scholarly discourse, my
writing held the tenets of conversational writing and failed to meet academic standards. Furthermore,
much of my poor writing was akin to a deep rooted habit that I found humbling to admit and
challenging to correct. Passive voice, unneeded words, long sentences, were a few of the obstacles that
impeded my journey to effective writing. However, using peer reviews and an editing checklist I
slowly began improving my skills as a competent writer. I also found that reading concerning writing

they believed in vampires, but they also used them to control the people of their town. By doing the

stories spread and eventually the whole world was on vampire alert. These stories continued well on
into the 1900 s eventually dying off slowly as the scientist learned more about humans, the body and
how it worked. The first shift in these stories was from the tales of monks to an actual novel written by
Bram Stocker. Dracula, a story still talked abut today, Dracula was really the introductory novel to
bring vampires into fiction works. The story of a man that travels to buy property in Transylvania

The Mississippi Arts Frameworks And The National Core Arts...
Upon reading both the Mississippi Arts Frameworks and the National Core Arts Standards, it became
very apparent that there were similarities and contrast in both their structure and content. Both of these
frameworks still have the overall goal of increasing both individuality, creativity, and important life
skills in students. Both of these frameworks highlight important artistic processes and content, but
both differ in the components that they contain as well. Additionally, both frameworks still have the
same universal goal as other subject area, which is to inform readers of what a student should know
and be able to do at different grade levels. Similarly, both standards are also offer itself as guides and
models for educators to plan their instruction. Both standards offer a multitude of resourceful
information that can guide teachers into designing a curriculum in which performance is assessed
rather than paperwork.
Beginning with an end in mind, both standards start off detailing what students should be able to know
and do in each art discipline, an outcomes based approach. (#)Both standards explain that Jay
McTighe s and Grant Wiggins s framework Understanding by Design(UbD) was the basis for their
standards. The writers National Arts Standards even obtained McTighe s assistance in the
development in their standards and assessments. Both standards also offer educators suggested
assessments that align with their objectives; however they differ in the components

Research Paper Stop and Frisk
Stop and Frisk: the Downside to a Decrease in Crime
By Boli Bencosme
Pace University
LAW 101 50271
2012 Summer 2 Session
Prof. John Paul
Research Paper
Stop and Frisk is a program put into effect by the New York Police Department that basically grants an
officer authority to stop and search a suspicious character if they deem him/her to be as such. They
don t need a warrant, or see you commit a crime. 5They simply need to deem you suspicious to violate
your 4th amendment rights without repercussions. Since its inception, New York City s stop and frisk
program has drawn much controversy stemming from the disproportionate rate of arrest. While the
argument that the program violates an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cops that searched those innocent people could have just as easily been stopping a robbery or
assault from happening.
The origin of stop and frisk lies in a Supreme Court ruling in the case of Terry v. Ohio 1968. 3When a
group of three men were suspiciously walking back and forth looking into a store, a plainclothes
officer suspected that they were planning to commit a robbery. When he confronted them, he was
unsatisfied with the answers they were giving him, so he searched them and found an illegal firearm.
A key issue in this case was probable cause. By definition, probable cause is a collection of facts or
single fact that would lead a competent police officer to believe that a crime was committed. While the
officer suspected a crime was about to be committed, no crime had yet been committed and therefore
there was no probable cause. While the cop had reason to suspect an illegal activity was about to
occur, he did not have probable cause to conduct the search. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of the
defendant on the grounds that a stop and frisk is less intrusive than a full blown search. They also
ruled that requiring probable cause would place the officer and other bystanders in danger. According
to the court, the only justification of a stop and frisk is to find illegal firearms, knives, or other
weapons that can be used to put the officer in danger. Nothing was stated to the court about drugs.

Cancer Kryptonite Case Study
Cancer Kryptonite: Using Deadly Disease to Cure Deadly Disease
After reviewing the study of the effects of chimeric antigen receptor modified T cells (CAR T cells)
on acute lymphocytic leukemia, it appears that this type of treatment shows promise for the treatment
of this and many other difficult to kill cancers. This technique was pioneered and developed by Dr.
Carl June. He began his research on T cells in the late 1980s to early 1990s while in the Navy. The
research he would do and the other researchers he would meet at this time would pave the way for
what could be considered to be groundbreaking cancer research today. What started as the study of T
cells and their relationship with the HIV virus specifically, would turn into the ... Show more content

to recognize a self cell from a non self cell,
2. mount a successful response/attack,
3. remember each specific pathogen/antigen for future attacks.
To be able to recognize a self cell from a non self cell, T cells have receptors on their surfaces that
recognize antigens on the surfaces of other cells. When one of these antigens, or parts of the disease
that the immune system recognizes as non self , is recognized by a T cell, an immune response is
launched and T cells begin multiplying rapidly to fight off the infection. This rapid multiplication
creates two different types of T cells: helper and cytotoxic. The helper T cells help to create more T
cells and the cytotoxic T cells are the killers. They attack the cells with the antigen that the body has
recognized as non self. Once the non self cells are destroyed, some of these new T cells that have been
created to fight off this specific infection will stay around to fight any future infection with the same
antigen. This is called memory (Dr. T. White, Microbiology lecture, May 2015). Dr. June and his team
have based their research on this immune response, but with an interesting twist. The research
conducted by Dr. June while in the Navy taught him plenty about the efficiency the HIV virus
possesses in DNA delivery and about the response of T cells to disease. He would use this knowledge,
and the knowledge of his peers, to perfect for the first time the procedure he would use in

represented one giant leap for mankind. Through small television screens, the world witnessed as Neil
Armstrong become the first individual to step foot on the moon.
Just four days prior to this remarkable event, over six hundred million people watched as three brave
men boarded the space module Columbia. On board were commander Neil Armstrong, lunar module
pilot Buzz Aldrin and command module pilot Michael Collins, all specified with the mission of
performing a manned lunar landing and returning to Earth. (Smithsonian) After blasting off and ...

Interphase Research Paper
Beginning with mitosis, the cell cycle starts in interphase. Interphase consists of three major events,
which are phases G1, S, and G2. Each phase within interphase prepares the cell differently. In the G1
phase there was an increases in the size of the cell, which allowed it to enter the S phase. Once the cell
was in the S phase, DNA was replicated producing two sister chromatids which were attached at their
centromeres. The process then proceeded into the G2 phase where certain proteins checked the
integrity of the DNA, if everything was in order the cell continued into the mitotic stages. The DNA
content in the G1 phase was the same at the beginning and the end but changed in the S phase. The S
phase began as 2N and ended as 4N meaning the replication of DNA caused four sets of genes to be
produced. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Metaphor As A Metaphor
Phrases like in a hurry , a close relationship , Juliet is the sun and many others are commonly used and
easily understood although they are not literal. Such phrases are metaphoric in feature. What is
metaphor then? Metaphor is defined in terms of substituting one word for another with an apparently
different meaning (Ritchie, 2013). Although metaphor was once considered as a stylistic issue, a
rhetoric device, a poetic reference or decorative speech, now it has been extended to linguistics and
cognitive psychology, and has been an issue in language, thought, cognition and communication.
Burke (1945) regards metaphor as a device for seeing something in terms of something else. This
simple definition of metaphor says that metaphor has two distinct ideas which lie in the core of
metaphor. In order to understand one better, the other idea is used. Littlemore and Low (2006a) state
that metaphor involves one entity in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For them metaphor is a matter of thought rather than language. Lakoff and Johnson (1980) extended
the definition of metaphor further and introduced Conceptual Metaphor Theory (CMT). They claim
that concepts are metaphorically structured, so metaphors play a significant role in organizing and
functioning ideas in human conceptual system. They define metaphor not only as thinking about
something in terms of something else, but also experiencing something as something else. Since
human activities and experiences are metaphorical, we talk about things in the way that we perceive
them. Human conceptual system is structured by metaphors, in other words, it is metaphoric in nature.
This is grounded in experience and culture. Some metaphors are so deeply rooted in human thought
that they are metaphors we live by or they are conceptual in nature (Lakoff and

The J. Paul Getty Museum
For this essay, we were required to go to the Getty Villa in Malibu and look for specific works of art in
the J. Paul Getty Museum. The Getty Villa is on a hill adjacent to Malibu beach and requires a
reservation to get inside. They do not allow pedestrian entrances, so I had to take public transportation
and show proof of my Metro bus receipt to get in. Once inside, I took a shuttle up a curvy hill to the
actual museum. When I got to the actual entrance, I was taken aback by how beautiful not only the
view was, but the Villa was as well. It did not take me long to find the five artworks. The first work of
art we were required to look at was a grave stele. There were a collection of them against a wall on the
second floor of the Getty Villa. The one that stuck out the most to me was titled Grave Stele of
Herophanta and Posideos which was dated around 150 B.C. It is a Greek grave stele that was made in
Smyrna, which is what we today call Turkey. The stele was around 4 feet tall and made out of marble.
The back of the stele was not viewable, but the front had a lot of detail. On the front at the top displays
what resembles a triangular pediment typically seen in Greek temples. Underneath that are two wreath
like objects. In the center, there is a portrait that shows a family consisting of a husband and wife with
two children. The woman is holding a wreath and the two kids are crowded around the father. Each
member of the family is wearing stylized drapery. Underneath the

Our Difficult Journey Towards Universal Suffrage
Our difficult journey towards universal suffrage
As the text book defines it, franchise or suffrage is the right to vote. In the United States, it took many
years to gain universal suffrage, or the ability of all citizens to have the right to vote. In the late 1700 s
only about 5% of Americans were eligible to vote (wealthy, white, males of certain religious
affiliations). By the early 1800 s, the properly ownership and religion requirements were dropped
allowing most white males to vote.
Even though the 14th amendment gave citizenship to everyone born or naturalized in the country, the
first real legislation towards giving men of color the right to vote was the 15th amendment. The
amendment ratified in 1870 stated that the right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be
denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of race, color, or previous condition
of servitude [library of congress, 1]. Technically speaking, this federal legislation should have been
given the blacks the right to vote regardless of their status.
However, this was not popular with the white establishment in the southern states in particular, as they
quickly found loopholes and other techniques until 1965 to effectively block the votes from being
cast. Although this was meant to affect the black population for the most part, these techniques
affected the whites who were poor as well. Among others, the most common ways to disenfranchise
were the use of violence, poll

Literary Analysis Of Hercules Delivering Prometheus By...
Hercules Delivering Prometheus, a free standing French sculpture, now in the Art Gallery of Ontario
is cast in bronze by Francois Lespingola. This highly intricate bronze sculpture is an example of
French baroque art, which was created in between 1690 and 1705. The incredible creativity of this
composition and the audacity of its three dimensional conception included a widely known scene from
classic Greek mythology. A series of statuettes on the sculpture depict a display of Hercules freeing
the chained Prometheus from an eagle that comes to pick his liver each day. Lespingola promoted
these effects in grouping multiple figures, optimizing the individual prominence of each figure and
integrating them into one concordant sculpture.

The mixture of realism and idealism allows the sculpture to stand and symbolize other figures at the
same time. These figures have a style of idealism especially the way Hercules and Prometheus look.
They are both very muscular. The muscles have defining curves, showing that the body is flexed and
in action. These ideal human forms also show that the symmetry is not being equal, but the
proportions of these individuals make a whole composition. Furthermore, the male figures are more
human than human. They are idealized in softer cravings with smaller heads and the hair is very
stylized. The movements of the male figures are emphasized in a contrapposto position. Both are
counterposed and weight is shifted on a feet. These shapes come together and give the effect of how
the real body looks like. Moreover, it suggests the figure s characteristics. For example, Hercules s
weight is on his right foot and left foot is placed as a movement. The indication of his dynamic
movement reflects his strong character. Prometheus s kneeing contrapposto position along with his
anxious expression gives an insight that he is trembled with fear. The eagle s fierce eyes, sharp beak
and its threatening gesture show a strong determination of defeating Hercules. The artist inlaid eyes in
all figures which helps to gain more understanding of their emotions. In fact, the

This Report requested by the principal financial investor, Dr. Maria D. Davidson, includes information
required to make an informed decision on whether or not to diversify into the Oil and Natural Gas
Extraction industry. The Oil and Natural Gas Extraction industry is involved in the processes required
to find and extract crude oil and natural gas. The Oil and Natural Gas industry has performed well in
recent years despite economic challenges due to the help of new techniques and technologies that have
allowed the industry to quickly recover after economic setbacks.
What are the Major Components of the Oil and Gas Extraction Industry?
Major Operations that this industry is involved in include the exploration and drilling of crude oil, and
the extraction of natural gasses. Once the oil and gas is extracted, these companies now are
responsible for processing the material to then be sold to industries that then either refine crude oil or
distribute natural gas.
Extraction
Traditionally, large drills are used to extract crude oil from the ground or in offshore deposits. With
these techniques, large amounts of crude oil has been left untouched because it was uneconomical to
attempt to retrieve the oil. But, with new techniques such as hydraulic fracturing and horizontal
drilling, it can now become more efficient for companies to go

  • 2. Robert s Blindness The narrator in the play is portrayed as superficial, self centered, and egotistical. Although his actions demonstrate his character he lacks comprehension in the way relationships and people are presented to him, which clearly shows his tragic flaw: although Robert takes the place of a physically blind character the narrator is one who is mentally blind. In the husband s eyes, Robert s blindness is his identifier. In actuality, any prejudice based on gender; race, or disability takes form in a person who lacks the ability to look past false qualities. People who discriminate other people based on characteristics only see the features, but not the actual person. Without thinking the husband placed Robert in his own group, in which he expresses ... All the difficult details of the narrator s wife s past, including her marriage, suicide attempt, and divorce, have been recorded and sent to Robert, who has recorded responses in return. Robert is the person to whom the narrator s wife has turned to when she needed to talk. The narrator s wife is glad to see him, but since he cannot see her, their interaction is only slightly different from the back and forth conversation they ve been carrying on through the tapes. I believe that the relationship between the Robert and the narrator s wife very healthy. This makes the narrator extremely jealous of their relationship, They talk of things that had happened to them to them! These past ten years. I waited in vain to hear my name on my wife s sweet lips. (37) His relationship with his wife has been extremely distant because of his inability to focus on her instead of his drugs , And I guess I was. Every night I smoked dope and stayed up as long as I could before I fell asleep. My wife and I hardly ever went to bed at the same time. (390) 2. • 3. Argumentative Essay On Religious Discrimination Religious Discrimination Discrimination, a word that can meet quite a lot, there are many different types of discrimination some of course are harsher than others. There s just one type of discrimination that has been on the rise for some time now, and that s persecution. Persecution just means bad treatment simply because of race, political, or religious beliefs. The area that has been hit over and over for some time is religious persecution. A very sad but true reality for many people having to hide to worship their beliefs. The most persecuted religion in the world may come to a shock to some people, but the most persecuted religion is Christianity. Followed by Islam, and third is Judaism. Christianity is the most popular religion in the United States, but is the least popular worldwide. To put it in perspective, Christians are persecuted in over 130 countries for just their beliefs. To add on to that, each month about 322 Christians are killed, along with that each month 214 Christian churches and properties are destroyed. Out of all the religions in the world, none are more persecuted than Christians, with all of this in mind it s something else when most people have no idea of this at all. Through several surveys I found that 7 out of 10 people thought that other religions such as Islam and Judaism are more persecuted than Christians. Why is it that as popular as Christianity is in the United States, that there is so little people that accurately know what is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Government Polls National polls are an important tool used by political parties and news outlets to gauge how the public feels about current issues or political candidates. Only one month into his presidency, President Donald Trump is facing a lot of heat from the public, and that is very evident in the polls. Polls can be used for both good and evil. Some are used to promote agendas or favor towards certain politicians or policy, while others can be used to simply see where the public stands on current issues. Currently, according to Gallup, polls are showing that President Donald Trump s first month approval ratings are below average first month ratings by 21 points (Gallup). While the average approval number by the end of February is 61%, Trump s numbers are at 40%. The last time approval ratings were this low within a president s first month was in 1993, when Bill Clinton stepped into office. There are many reasons for our president s low numbers, ranging ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One thing that I found odd while researching for this paper is the variety of poll results across a small selection of sources. For instance, CNN posted a poll update in late January, stating that our President s job approval ratings were at an all time low at 36%. Underneath the large heading and introductory statement, they mentioned that the information was gathered by one national poll that was provided by one university. Should the findings of one poll, given by one university, be published as if they represent all of the American population s views? Personally, I do not feel the need to pay attention to polls when it comes to national politics. I am generally distrusting of the agendas that many news outlets support when it comes to national polls, even though I still believe that polls aren t entirely unnecessary. I fully support the idea of giving the public a way to compare views and express personal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of Katharine Cook Briggs And Her Daughter, Isabel... Have you ever wondered why you get along with your best friends? Or maybe you are dying to know why particular coworkers get under your skin. Perhaps routine quarreling with your cousin frustrates you. Well, once I concluded after much research that I am the ENFJ personality type, I learned not only how my type relates to the ESTJ type, but also that each person s unique perception of the world causes many social conflicts due to individuals perceiving and responding to things opposite from their peers. In order to better understand myself and others, I turned to the reliable, comprehensive Jung typology test developed by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers. This test is based on the work of famous early twentieth century psychologist Carl Jung. The test determines one s personality type based on four parameters an introverted/extraverted scale, an intuition/sensing scale, a feeling/thinking scale, and a judging/perceiving scale. By answering a series of questions aimed at determining specific behavioral functions and dispositions, the applicant is given four letters corresponding with the four parameters to represent his or her personality. Sixteen letter combinations representing sixteen different personalities are possible. After taking multiple typology tests offered by various websites and sifting through the often conflicting results, I concluded that I am an ENFJ personality type. First, I took the test offered by Humanmetrics, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Cleo 5 To 7 Essay Cleo from 5 to 7 and Breathless are French films that represent time as themes. By using time as an important aspect of the film, the audience is drawn to the plot and eager to learn what the outcome is after time runs out in the film. Time as a theme is possible through formal qualities of film that would not be possible without these certain qualities. Cleo from 5 to 7 and Breathless may both have time as significant themes, but each film uses time to create an original story. Cleo from 5 to 7 is essentially about the story of a woman s past, present, and future. The setting is in virtually real time created by the film while she confronts the probability of being sick with cancer (Mast). In film, real time often means when the time of an ... The audience then curiously follows Cleo through her day as she waits for the news from the doctor the real time of the film. But this is the first defense, which is called the Innate defense system (keep out, or quietly neutralizes, pathogens). The second defense is called the Adaptive immune system. When a white blood cell meets a new disease, it tries to meet with it and remember it from a threat to a friend. This ability to remember specific pathogens is one of the key differences between the adaptive and innate defenses. The Adaptive immune system can fight the new or known diseases throughout the whole body by two defenses, the Humoral immunity, and Cellular defenses. • 9. Judicial Tyranny The New Kings Of America The book Judicial Tyranny The New Kings of America? is a compilation of articles and speeches. It is compiled by Mark Sutherland and includes writings from famed Christian personality James C. Dobson Chief Justice Roy Moore, Ambassador Alan Keyes, U.s Attorney General Ed Meese, among others. The book is a call to political action. It is aimed at Christian readers and the writers all argue that Christian politics equals constitutional purism. It is specifically meant to invoke constitutional responses and activism. Each chapter, twenty in all, are a few pages long and systematically decry the current judicial system and explain the lack of constitutional basis for their current level of power. The book s primary source of inspiration seems to be the lawsuit involving Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore. The case was highly publicized and Moore s refusal to carry out the ultimate ruling led to his removal from office. Chief Justice Moore was removed from office in which a majority of citizens of Alabama elected him to serve for acknowledging God with the placement of a monument that contains the Ten Commandments and for refusing to remove that monument. The majority of the writers in Judicial Tyranny reference his case extensively and an excerpt from Roy Moore s book ( So Help Me God, 2005) appears as Chapter seven in Judicial Tyranny. • 10. Theme Of Family In Water For Elephants Believing in Creating Families The novel Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen presents a dramatic and emotional plot about a boy, Jacob, who joins the circus after losing everything. As readers join Jacob on his journey, the question of what constitutes family is answered and the theme family can be created by those who love a person is revealed. Like Jacob people may feel alone and lost but, there is a family out there somewhere, even if they are a bit unconventional. Water for Elephants resonates with my beliefs about family by expressing the theme, family does not always mean those one is born to but those one has found to love and care for. My beliefs allowed me to better understand the theme, connect with characters, as well as strengthen my beliefs by reading such an emotional novel with the theme centered on creating a family. I was instilled with the belief family does not mean people who share DNA, rather people who share love and compassion for one another. This allowed me to better understand the theme about creating families the author explains in the novel. By understanding the basics of the theme, I know families created are just as or more strong and loving than those which are born. For instance, when Uncle Al is unfair to Jacob, Camel reassures Jacob, You re a good kid, and I ain t about to stand by and watch you mope off cuz that fat old grouch don t got time. Consequently the company shut down virtually for two days. Seeking for a new start After the shutdown managers realized that the autonomous approach was not sufficient. There was the need for a more integrated action, indeed separated decisions among the departments would have taken too long. As a result the company gathered an Implementation Team to investigate on the replacement of the application. Thanks to the previous experience of the SVP of manufacturing Carl Redfield it was clear that the implementation of IT projects can take a long time to be effective. In order to make the implementation as quick as possible Redfield suggested to implement the project all at once and to do not personalize the new system. In The Great Gatsby the mise en scene is used to show off the romance and magnificence of Jay Gatsby it is used to describe his personality and economic status. • 15. A Philosophical Analysis Of An Idea Presented By Ludwig... A philosophical analysis of an idea presented by Ludwig Wittgenstein in On Certainty Introduction Countless philosophers, from centuries ago to modern times, have investigated the concept of inherited ideas. Some of the more daunting questions on the subject seem to be: From where do these ideas originate? Can we trust them? Do they serve as an objective foundation for the rest of our judgments, or are they in fact mere judgments themselves? Ludwig Wittgenstein addresses such questions in his written work On Certainty, and deduces that in some cases, an inherited idea is so anchored [in me] that I cannot touch it (no. 103). This paper will examine the definition of this idea and the argument that lies behind it, while also addressing the various objections that could be made to such an argument. Explanation of Idea In On Certainty, Wittgenstein arrives at the conclusion that some of my ideas are so anchored in me that I cannot touch them. The key message Wittgenstein is conveying here is that certain ideas are inherited, innate for everyone. The term anchored , in its literal sense, refers to watercraft being held securely in a fixed spot by aid of a curved, weighted implement to which it is connected. In using this term, Wittgenstein creates the imagery of our intellect, our perception, being like a sea, and our ideas like ships. This illustration suggests that some of the ideas we have are in motion, changing as a result of our experiences and investigations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They have influenced me in my everyday life and so many great musicians in the past 50 years. This fact alone, makes it hard to imagine that they were once influenced by someone else. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The cops that searched those innocent people could have just as easily been stopping a robbery or assault from happening. The origin of stop and frisk lies in a Supreme Court ruling in the case of Terry v. Ohio 1968. 3When a group of three men were suspiciously walking back and forth looking into a store, a plainclothes officer suspected that they were planning to commit a robbery. When he confronted them, he was unsatisfied with the answers they were giving him, so he searched them and found an illegal firearm. A key issue in this case was probable cause. By definition, probable cause is a collection of facts or single fact that would lead a competent police officer to believe that a crime was committed. While the officer suspected a crime was about to be committed, no crime had yet been committed and therefore there was no probable cause. While the cop had reason to suspect an illegal activity was about to occur, he did not have probable cause to conduct the search. The Supreme Court ruled in favor of the defendant on the grounds that a stop and frisk is less intrusive than a full blown search. They also ruled that requiring probable cause would place the officer and other bystanders in danger. According to the court, the only justification of a stop and frisk is to find illegal firearms, knives, or other weapons that can be used to put the officer in danger. Nothing was stated to the court about drugs. This case has been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To be able to recognize a self cell from a non self cell, T cells have receptors on their surfaces that recognize antigens on the surfaces of other cells. When one of these antigens, or parts of the disease that the immune system recognizes as non self , is recognized by a T cell, an immune response is launched and T cells begin multiplying rapidly to fight off the infection. This rapid multiplication creates two different types of T cells: helper and cytotoxic. The helper T cells help to create more T cells and the cytotoxic T cells are the killers. They attack the cells with the antigen that the body has recognized as non self. Once the non self cells are destroyed, some of these new T cells that have been created to fight off this specific infection will stay around to fight any future infection with the same antigen. Each phase within interphase prepares the cell differently. In the G1 phase there was an increases in the size of the cell, which allowed it to enter the S phase. Once the cell was in the S phase, DNA was replicated producing two sister chromatids which were attached at their centromeres. The process then proceeded into the G2 phase where certain proteins checked the integrity of the DNA, if everything was in order the cell continued into the mitotic stages. Such phrases are metaphoric in feature. What is metaphor then? Metaphor is defined in terms of substituting one word for another with an apparently different meaning (Ritchie, 2013). Although metaphor was once considered as a stylistic issue, a rhetoric device, a poetic reference or decorative speech, now it has been extended to linguistics and cognitive psychology, and has been an issue in language, thought, cognition and communication. Burke (1945) regards metaphor as a device for seeing something in terms of something else. In the United States, it took many years to gain universal suffrage, or the ability of all citizens to have the right to vote. In the late 1700 s only about 5% of Americans were eligible to vote (wealthy, white, males of certain religious affiliations). By the early 1800 s, the properly ownership and religion requirements were dropped allowing most white males to vote. Even though the 14th amendment gave citizenship to everyone born or naturalized in the country, the first real legislation towards giving men of color the right to vote was the 15th amendment. The amendment ratified in 1870 stated that the right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude [library of congress, 1]. Technically speaking, this federal legislation should have been given the blacks the right to vote regardless of their status. However, this was not popular with the white establishment in the southern states in particular, as they quickly found loopholes and other techniques until 1965 to effectively block the votes from being cast.
