Dance Analysis
I cannot say enough how much of an honor it is to dance here at Towson. I have changed as a
dancer and as an individual. I have always been hard on myself in everything I do especially
dance. When I make a mistake I unconsciously beat myself up and push myself to work harder.
Dr. Sue sat me down one day and told me you have to believe that you are more than enough. She
was basically telling me that I was hindering myself from reaching my fullest potential. I was
running myself down by working the wrong body part. I has pushing myself physically but what
really needed to change was my mental image I had of myself. Once I was able recognize where I
was and that it was ok to be there I saw greater improvement in my dancing. Watching the final...

In a nut shell I realized I had become complacent. I was used to doing well and was expecting to
do well because I had been having a good week. However, I was not in a place to receive. As
dancers I believe it important to be flexible and able to be taught be anyone, however sometimes
as individuals we resist. I felt the resistance even with Mrs. Candace s class. The first month of
this semester modern was very difficult for me, not because I was incapable but because I was
not in a mental place to receive. Once I change my way of thinking my dancing changed
completely. After Mr. Greenstein s class I made these connections. As a dancer I want to work on
discovering how to avoid resisting a new style. I want to learn how to approach something I do not
know in the most positive way. Sometime we can t control our reactions, so what can I do be
accepting.
I am excited for my next year at Towson. This yea I felt I was put in a position to be successful. I
had to re build my foundation and go from there. I am excited to go to dance theater of Harlem
this summer, I do not think I would be as ready as I feel if I was not a dance major here at Towson.
Over the summer I want to work on control and point work. Because I have learned so much on
flat I will be able to translate that to

Autobiography Of Belkis Essay
When Belkis was 6, the gang that controlled her neighborhood in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, killed
her grandmother and then her uncle, and demanded that her brothers join as lookouts. Belkis s
mother took the boys and fled to the United States, leaving Belkis behind with family. When the
gang started stalking and threatening Belkis, then 13, she followed, making the terrifying six
month journey across Mexico by herself. She was caught by the Border Patrol last September,
while crossing into the United States.
Now she faced one more trauma: America s judicial system.

And yet, while more recent legislation has improved the odds, only around 7 percent of those

Effects Of Murder In Macbeth
Murder is a damaging act to one s mind. After committing/assisting in a murder, the mind is
changed, and changes the overall person as well. These changes are different in all situations. They
depend on the level of involvement, what the person is like before, and how violent the actual
murder is. The most impactful element, however, is the violence of the murder. For example,
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth were described by Shakespeare both before and after the murder. This
helps readers to understand the characters mindsets and how the event has shaped them. One of the
best examples of murder s influence on the mind comes from Shakespeare s play Macbeth. Before
committing any murder, Macbeth was lighthearted and not at all serious. Even... Show more content

If anything, real people are affected more. There is more scientific backing to how they re
affected. One of the most active parts of the brain during a murder is the orbitofrontal cortex.
This part of the brain is involved with moral sensitivity. In a study conducted with soldiers, this
area was more active when the soldier was aware of shooting an innocent person in the simulation.
there was consistently greater activity in the lateral portion of the OFC when subjects imagined
shooting civilians. A region of the brain that tends to be less active during murder is the lingual
gyrus. This region is the part of the brain that would justify a murder. Increased activity would be
seen when soldiers would kill enemies. This could explain why the effect isn t as drastic on the
brain when the killing seems justified, versus the orbitofrontal cortex being more active in more of
the unjustified murders, which can tend to be more

The Ethical Marketing Strategy Of Pharmaceutical Advertising
What are some of the ethical issues associated with this marketing strategy? Pharmaceutical
advertisements has been the subject of deliberation for more than a century. Pharmaceutical
advertising and marketing make up a large fragment of the activities of pharmaceutical
corporations. These publications can be extremely informative as long as they are analytically
evaluated. However, the data enclosed in promotional material may be scant or erroneous.
Assuredly, the pharmaceutical marketingactivities has a great effect on the behavior of the
physicians however hidden rather than suggested in its script noticeable (Makowska, 2014;
UKessays, 2015). The ethical marketing strategies in the pharmaceutical industryare procedures
used to sell medicines morally. The strategy must be as such that it does not influence the decision
making criteria of physicians. Ethical marketing is usually referred to as the use of marketing ethics
into the marketing process. The establishment of marketing ethics has the potential to benefit
society as a whole and should be considered a part of business ethics in the sense that marketing
forms a substantial part of any business model. Marketing strategies are organized into five
classifications: physicians targeted promotions; direct to consumer advertising; unethical
recruitment of physicians; researchers conflicts of interest; and data manipulation in clinical trials.

Zinnia Labor Agreement Case Study
Successful negotiation is not about getting to yes ; it s about mastering no and understanding the
path to an agreement is (Christopher Voss). During the negotiation process, there are a lot of
moving parts and personalities. In addition, hurt feelings can all too often get in the way. The
bottom line of any negotiation is to reach a settlement that will mutually benefit both parties. It s a
challenging situation by which compromise or agreement is reached while attempting to avoid
arguments and disputes. The Zinnia Labor Agreement Project was an insightful learning simulation.
It was interesting, frustrating, and a unique experience. The project required keeping an open mind
and approaching the simulation with an integrative approach. However, all parties involved in the
negotiation process must take into consideration this same approach. Additionally, trust between
management and labor union is beneficial. Trust can be a slippery thing when it comes to
negotiating. Considering the reason management enters into negotiation with the other side of the
table (labor union) is because there s the hope of reaching a deal, ultimately trust is one of the

Analysis Of The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Superheroes have been scrutinized for several for methods dealing with criminals and how they
react in their everyday lives. Inner personal problems of a hero have a way to change the
meaning of their status and affect the effectiveness of a hero s influence and philosophical
meaning. This is usually forced into comic books and movies to give a character an air of grit in
their media. Sometimes this creates a beautiful masterpiece of story and introduces depth to the
character, but it can also have a detrimental to the image of the character. Taking a darker tone with
a superherotype character is ultimately a bad idea in the long run because it s is hard to create a
mature story with most characters without deviating from what the fans believe in the character
and how they are seen by others causing problems for the parent company, giving characters a
darker tone can destroy a classic character s easily recognizable characteristics also, the move can
sink a company whose reputation was ruined by the decision. Having a fantastical ability is
always a hindrance when writing a serious or dark story because there is the need to ground the
story in realism and believability. Darker superhero stories can t handle superpowers well within the
story telling and writing. Most darker stories who have a character with extremely unusual
superpowers tend to have either a convoluted plots or just destroys the meaning of the character to
the point where people hate the new representation.

Breast is Best: The Effects of Breastfeeding on the Development of the Immune System in Infants
Have you ever considered whether you want your future children breastfed or formula fed? After
having a child, one of the most important decisions new parents face is how they want their
children to be fed. Physicians recommend that infants are exclusively breastfed for at least the first
six months of their lives. It is recommended that breastfeeding continues, along with the
introduction of solid foods, until about the end of the infants first year of life. Although breast milk
is the recommended dietary source for infants, it is ultimately the parents choice. Before making
their decision, it is important that people are aware of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for infants and helps to boost their immune system.
Additionally, from my personal experiences, many people that prefer formula feeding as opposed to
breastfeeding often say that they believe their baby is born with enough immune protection to
remain healthy. This is not true at all. I have heard people argue that during pregnancy, the mother
transmits enough antibodies, or immunoglobins, for the baby s immune system to function
properly. According to Jackson and Nazar, there is an antibodycalled the IgG antibody that passes to
the infant through the placenta while inside the mother s womb (The Journal of the American
Osteopathic Association). While this is true, the IgG antibody is not enough to support a newborn
infant s immune system. Jackson and Nazar stated that this antibody only gives protection for
about the first six to twelve months after birth ( Breastfeeding, the Immune Response, and Long
Term Health. ). Also, infants have an immature immune system and need additional antibodies
from their mother s breast milk to acquire a stronger immune system. IgA, IgG, IgM, and IgD are
all antibodies found in a mother s breast milk. It s better to be safe and supply an infant with breast
milk, which contains all of the nutrients and antibodies they need. The most important reason breast
milk is better for an infant s immune system is because it is loaded with

Disadvantages Of Vertical Integration
Netflix could pursue multiple options in order to remain viable in the industry. In order to achieve
vertical integration Netflix would have to control two of the four aspects of the supply chain. Those
include commodities, manufacturing, distribution, and retail. There are many advantages to
vertical integration including control over the market (Amadeo, 2016). If Netflix could have a
partnership with the movie and television industry they could monopolize the online streaming
industry and, therefore, decrease cost to the consumer. By collaborating with the partners this
would decrease cost to Netflix and increase revenues. This would allow more offerings for the
viewer and increase customerloyalty and increase the customer base. Overall efficiency is improved
when collaborating with supply companies. A supply chain strategy is important to any company
when making strategic decisions. This improves the ability to effectively market products, and
improves distribution of products to the consumer (Ferrell, Hartline, 2014). Increased efficiency and
control over quality are pros to vertical intergration for Netflix.
The biggest disadvantage to vertical integration would be cost to the company. It is expensive ...

Values can either be transmitted or acquired. It is anything that we put importance on. It

even if we are not. Just because we are busy doing something. We cannot work on two mental

should always remember that life is not a contest to see who can drop into the grave the fastest.
Guard your mental and physical health by slowing down to a reasonable pace. Concentrate on the

mishandling of the situation may lead to stress, conflict, frustration, and at the end, we need to

Microsoft s Partnership with UNHCR Pro Bono Publico?
Let me first provide the landscape of this case study by highlighting that the evolution of the

well as shaping the definition today of good corporate social responsibility. The corporate social

Reflection On Chickens
As I was creating my chicken documentary, I delved deeper into the egg industry s hidden world.
Essentially, this project sparked an interest in the different egg titles, which lead me to seek out
more humane lifestyles for these hens. Sadly, some (people) hold this (animal treatment) on a
basis of divine revelation the other animals were put here for human kind to use as they see fit
while others deny that animals have the kind of subjectivity or experience that could give rise to
a moral duty or obligation on our party (Thompson). For humans, it is easy to view chickens as
inferior and boring; however, my project contradicts this assumption. The ten chickens I filmed
demonstrated unique characteristics, complex reasoning and future planning, and pure joy whilst
roaming freely. Therefore, the battery cage farms are archaic and cruel environments that further
support animal cruelty. According to Brian Ahmed, an Australian battery chicken farmer,
chickens in battery cages, that is, small wire cages, exist in a cleaner environment where disease
and parasite rates are lower. So, they don t fall ill and actually face less fatal risks. In fact, battery
chicken s morality rate decreases to 1%. This provides the world with plentiful and affordable eggs
(Davey). Superficially, battery cages appear humane. However, chickens contain cognitive,
emotional, and behavior complexities that the battery cages destroy (Friedrich). As previously
stated, a battery cages are small wire

way we can defeat them is if we show no fear of them. Is it said to believe that many people like
the Iraqi government s discriminatory policies against Sunnis, Bashar al Assad s suppression of

Numerous of leaders especially in the church are considered charismatic. Before the 1980 s,
charisma was not a major topic of discussion. The Charismatic approach is measured to reflect a

Their followers tend to mimic the goals and leadershipstyle of the charismatic leader. They are

Examples Of Wrongful Convictions

chance that it was in fact a false confession. This is not something people usually suspect, as was
mentioned previously that people assume no reasonable person would admit to guilt if they were
innocent. Often times the false confessioncomes about through coercion and the tactics of police
attempting to obtain a confession no matter if it is accurate or not. There is a vast array of

In come cases it does occur that the error in the conviction is caught and the person who was
wrongfully convicted gets the charges against them dropped and they are released from whatever
form of punishment the courts deemed acceptable however even so, the convicted has often spent
over 10 years in prison, or was executed by the state. More often than not, wrongful convictions go
undetected and this leaves researchers with a gaping hole in the research as one can only examine
the causes of wrongful convictions from the framing of wrongful convictions that have been
uncovered. From the first step of being wrongfully accused to the last step of being wrongfully
punished (whether that be community service, to incarceration, to being put on death row) many
factors go into the process of a person being wrongfully accused of criminal activity. This paper
theorizes that some of them main causes of a person being wrongfully convicted include the
suspect giving false confession typically under the pretense of police trickery, expert evidence being
erroneously gathered and/or presented for court, and the impact and validity of eyewitness
testimony against the accused. These three causes, working either in cohesion or separately all
contribute in a significant manner to wrongful conviction in the criminal justice system. On the
surface, studying and examining the causes of wrongful conviction is important so that we can be
informed and thus attempt to avoid these causes. However, the benefit of the examination of these
causes foes deeper than that. By examining the causes of wrongful conviction one can attempt to
disassemble and examine the systems set in place that allow for such errors or misuses of power
to exist in the first place. By doing this a person can then critically examine the criminal justice
system which could lead to taking the necessary next steps in essential

Questionnaire is one of the most popular techniques for gathering data, where questions in a
questionnaire are designed to be answered asynchronously, i.e. without the presence of the
investigator. A goal must be set, before developing the questionnaire, as developer would like to
have relevant reasons before starting working on something. Targeting the participants is another
important element of collecting data through online questionnaire. In many ways questionnaire is
similar to interviews as questions could be open or closed. Since interviewer is not present or in a
word nobody is available to interpret the questions for the participant, making the ... Show more

For example when a participant is asked about to enter his/her date of birth, a pop up message
could tell them what date format needs to be used. Data validation could easily be implemented in
web based questionnaire, which will warn the user about invalid data and tell them what is
expected. At the same time this would help the researchers from not having invalid data when
analyzing in the lab. For example, when asked a teacher what year the school was established? , the
answer has to be a four digit number less than or equal to current year and will not accept text as
input. By writing a validation rule in the back end, this could be accomplished (max char size = 4
and reg. expression (/d) which will only accept 4 digit number). Skip logic is another simple aspect
of web based questionnaire and it must be implemented when creating and designing a interactive
questionnaire. If a respondent answer a question Yes or No , designer can store 1 or 2 in back end
for comparison purpose. Based on the comparison result, a question or a series of questions can
be skipped. For example, if a respondent answers No when asked if he/she likes to use iPad, rest
of the iPad features related questions can be skipped. Skip logic can be helpful targeting a age
range as well. Another easy aspect of creating and conducting an online questionnaire is faster
response rate and automatic transfer of responses

Try as Samuel might there was no understanding his life with Valarie. He never really knew that
Valarie in her own way had opened up, it might not have been in the way he wanted her to love
him, but she loved him in her own way. Yet back then, in the beginning, in a time that is best left
where it belongs, she found herself becoming increasingly angry with him. His touch repulsed her,
she wantedto give him the love he wanted, but she just could not, did not have it in her to give.

It would be good if he could dismiss the thought, the idea, but since that night, that dreadful night,
strange things have been going on. He would see her disappearing out of his view or appearing
out of nowhere. He had to tell himself that it was just his mind playing tricks on him. He was
happy to settle with that for now. The woman that had once given him love that Valarie could not,
the woman that took part in the betrayal of Valarie s love was still refusing to go away. Thinking
about his betrayal now made him reflect on Marlene s betrayal.
How could two people so important in Valarie s life do such a thing to her? Marlene was
prepared to take him away from Valarie. She told him time and time again that she could love him
in ways that Valarie could not. She questioned his love for Valarie.
If you really love her, then why are you with me?
He had to confess to himself that he had grown to love Marlene in a way and yet there was
something about Valarie that made the love he had for her different, different to any other love.
He could not explain it, they were so alike and yet so different.

Introduction
Though an examination of human resource management theories, the authors of this document
intend to demonstrate how a practical application of this knowledge can assist in effectively
managing the process of cultural change in an organization. This will be done through a case study
of the company John Lewis. It will outline their current organizational model, examine the impact

Hofstede s model has been criticized as having a limited theoretical framework because the
surveys he used were not designed with his work in mind, but rather, were for IBM s internal
purposes (McSweeney, 2002, cited by Magnusson et al 2008, p. 186). Its vaidity has also been
questioned in the absence of a feminine perspective, largely because his surveys were mainly of
white middle class men from one company ( Moulettes, 2007, p.443 445). Until the beginning of
the world economic recession in September 2008, John Lewis s model could have been
considered a very successful one. However, given the current economic climate, John Lewis has
been forced to review their organizational structure with a view to the company s survival in the
future. For the first time in John Lewis s history, partners have had concerns about their job
security. Two events signalled a change in the outlook. Firstly, the company s decision to close the
Stevenage distribution plant which had become obsolete with the introduction of the new
automated Milton Keynes plant. 200 partners were made redundant by the closure of the
Stevenage plant. Secondly, as a result of the overall decline in the company s performance in 2009,
it was decided to make another 40 partners from the head office redundant. This has changed the
overall mood of the partners, creating feelings of insecurity and questioning the model and their
relationship to it. This kind of dissent in the ranks could have

Angostura Value Chain Analysis
THE INTERNAL ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS OF ANGOSTURA LIMITED
VALUE CHAIN ANALYSIS
Value chain was first crafted by Michael Porter in his book Competitive Advantage Creating and
Sustaining Superior Performance (1985), to illustrate how customer value accumulates along a
chain of activities that lead to an end product or service.
The value chain analysis describes the activities an organisation performs and links them to the
organization competitive position. Porter further states, value chain evaluates which value each
particular activity adds to the organisation products or services.
John E Gamble, Crafting and Executing Strategy 2012 states, the various activities a company

American Education Vs. American Schools
American education system does not compare to other counties. Students are not expected to meet
high standards. American students do not possess the communication and computational skills they
need today to succeed in college or in the working world. The American school system has no

The Human Need For Personal Thoughts
The story was told by a non participant selective omniscient narrator speaking in third person point
of view, which was perfect because it enabled reader to understand the human need for personal
thoughts and feeling of each character clearly by jumping from one to another. The narrator guided
the readers to the thought of Alcee, wrote that he had unthinkingly drawn her into his arms, had
aroused all the old time infatuation and desire for her flesh. (Chopin 112) Alcee, the He in this
sentence still loved her , Calixta, since their separation. Due to the physical contact, Alcee did not
want to hide his desire to Calixta anymore. When they kissed, the narrator stated the thought of
Calixta Oh! She remembered; for in Assumption he had kissed her (Chopin 112). The narrator
disclosed that they had been in love in Assumption and both were passionate. Because of this
evidence, reader was able to understand that Calixta was in struggle between traditional family
value and the desire of adultery. Apparently, Calixta was inviting his lips (Chopin 112) and

innocent family. At this moment, woman held the dominant right emotionally. It critiqued women

Essay On Social Injustice
Social justice has changed lives through consistent group organization, consistent preparation, and
with the creation of a strong foundation and leaders. Social justice is the idealization that society
gives groups or individuals from a variety of different backgrounds and representations the right to
equally share benefits such as opportunities and resources along with being treated fairly by others
from all backgrounds and statuses (Chung Bemak, 2011). As a society, we hear less about social
justiceand maximize on social injustice as a whole. Social injustice in the court system with fathers

increased in the past couple of years. These... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such social inequities are not new, in fact, for a long time oppression, discrimination and more has
built blockages for individuals who are not socially accepted (Chung Bemak, 2011). As social
injustice spreads into the light so does the relationship between power and social justice (Chung
Bemak, 2011). Practitioners and advocates spread their awareness on how such power can feed into
social injustice.
Correlation between Power and Social Justice
People who hold a position of power, such as Judges in the family court system have and can
continue to perpetuate social injustice (Chung Bemak, 2011). Such perpetuator of social injustice
can be unintentionally or intentional due to the lack of awareness of certain groups such as single
fathers, fathers who struggle with mental illness, fathers who are gay and more (Chung Bemak,
2011). Judges in the family court system hold a great deal of power, such power has destroyed
relationships with children and families due to Judges lacking awareness on the importance of
fatherhood. Chung Bemak (2011) has expressed that people who hold positions in power and
privilege, such as Judges, have and may continue to disregard people who are less powerful, such as
fathers. At times, disregarding social groups can contribute to unfair treatment which can result in
oppression (Chung Bemak, 2011). Chung and Bemak background and education assists them in

You would think a continuous strand of good music would come from artists imitating what was
popular in past generations, but it seems this is not true. The song The Next Episode was about
being in clubs and the dangers of still having people out to get you while also getting ready for
the turn of the millennium. When they changed the word b*tch to chick and all of the other
lyrics like that (even changing the phrase poke on in the song completely) it still had no impact
on the overall song. However, if you look at the rest of the lyrics to Tyga s song you can see that
changing all of those words would eventually leave basically no song at all. The entire song is
just about his girlfriend and sexual themes. Perhaps the term the radio killed music truly is not
true. We killed music. We chose to forget songs detailing a purpose and a story and gravitated
towards those that had a good beat. So here s to those artists that kept it real, that told the truth, and

De Beauvoir stated women, the second sex, as the other . Women were not seen as a woman, but
seen as not man. This means that women notion derived from men, ... masculine virtue is thought
of as true virtue, male occupations are thought of as real work... (p.247). Hence, the definition of
women was second, inessential, and less than. Women were the objects of male subjectivity,
meaning they were only sex objects, mothers, objects of the male gaze, and the things looked at.
Moreover, women do not follow the existence precedes essence rule. Women were born free but

Differences Between Worldview And Worldview Essay
Differing Worldviews Worldview, how a person views the world, affects all parts of a person s
life and attempts to answer the foundational questions of knowledge, G d, origin, miracles, and
thought. Many factors influence a person s worldview some factors include geography, family
background, religious background, schooling, and many others. When two people with two
different worldviews interact with one another, some interesting points where they agree and
disagree with each other can arise even if the conversation is one way. In trying to find a person
to interview concerning their worldview, I decided to interview my cousin, Andi, and had the
opportunity to talk with her over the phone as she headed to her volleyball tournament. During
this conversation, Andi answered a lot of questions I had about her religion, and was also able
to get a glimpse into some of what she believed. Throughout our conversations I would ask some
foundational questions, and her answers would start a chain of other questions that lead to a very
informative and intriguing interview, one that left me thinking about what I believed on the
issues I posed to her. The first series of questions I asked Andi, concerned her background both
religious and familial. To begin the conversation, I asked her where she had lived during her life,
and she replied saying that she had always lived in Alabama, which is part of the Bible belt, and
that somehow this has not affected my beliefs. At first it

Language is our main means of communication and learning, without it we would not understand
each other efficiently enough to communicate our needs and thoughts. It is a very complicated
feature of human cognition. Yet children acquire language very naturally and quickly without any
formal instruction. Many language experts such as Chomsky (1965) and Pinker (2000) believe this
suggests that there is some innate predisposal to acquire language, by this it is meant a genetic

Humans who began to learn language would find it easier to survive and then pass on their
language to their children and so on. Therefore Darwin s theory does not support Chomsky s claim
of humans having an innate predisposal to acquire languages as he believed it was something that
has evolved and then been developed over time, not something that has always been present in our
genetics.
Most animals communicate with one another non verbally, for example some bee species have
very specific and evolved ways of communicating with each other about the location and quality of
food (Winston, 1987, p. 25) or the emperor penguin which uses an intricate set of calls that are very
vital for individual recognition between parents, offspring, and mates, demonstrating a very wide
range of individual calls from all the penguins (Williams 1995, p. 68). As all these forms of
communication appear to be very natural to the species they are relevant to, it suggests they are
easily developed and learnt through the social context the being is in. Perhaps this means that these
forms of communication are innately predisposed to the specific species, which would surely mean
language to be innately governed within humans as it s our way of communication. However one
cannot really compare the communications of animals to humans as the humans have a much
greater mental capacity than that of any other species. Although other species can communicate, the

Pros And Cons Of The Automobile Industry
The automobile industry is one of the most prosperous industries in the United States. For years, it
had a big impact on the American economy. But with the recession of 2007 2008, consumer
spending decreased and new car sales plunged (Davis, 2012). Big automobile firms like General
Motors and Chrysler were on the verge of bankruptcy (Davis, 2012). Luckily, the American
government intervened to rescue these firms through bailout money (Davis, 2012).
In 2010, the automobile industry in the United States employed more than 1.7 million people and

Articles of confederation Essay
Articles of Confederation vs. Constitution
The Articles of Confederation and the Constitution, although vastly different in their philosophies
of governing the nation, both played a big role in setting the stage for America s economy in the
upcoming nineteenth century. A few years after the Articles of Confederation were drafted many
politicians and economists, such as Alexander Hamilton, began to see problems with the
decentralized form of government that was created by this document. These advocates of a more
centralized government were referred to as federalists, and although they were not in favor of a

They though that the economic problems of the time were a consequence of excess spending on
behalf of the consumer, and had nothing to do with the government. The anti federalists believed
that the federal system places the economic, and political, responsibilities of the nation in the hands
of a select few. In their opinion, the proposed constitution did little more than facilitate an
oppressive government, and in essence cause America to take a giant step backwards, towards the
oppressive dictatorship they had fought so fiercely to escape.
The Articles of Confederation was created as a result of a young nations distrust for a powerful
centralized government, and because of this distrust the anti federalists were blinded to the
problems that arose under this document. Shay s Rebellion exemplified the manifestation of the
problems of the Article of Confederation. The decentralized government was unable to provide a
stable currency that was backed by gold securities, and as a result of this the paper money that was

indicated that the current system was failing and the need for a centralized government was great.

Summary Of Addition By Garrett Hardin
In the excerpt, Life Ethics: The Case Against Helping the Poor. , the author Garrett Hardin raised
the question whether rich nations should sustain the needs of the more insufficient nations in the
world. He addresses this question by utilizing the idea of a lifeboat. Hardin metaphorically paints
the picture of a boat, which represents the world, the passengers within the boat, which represent
the rich nations, and the swimmers outside of the boat, which represent the poorer nations in need
of financial gain. In Addition, the author exerts that there is only a significant amount of room
available on the boat, limiting the inclusion of the swimming passengers. Furthermore, the ecologist
opens the door to the different scenarios in which questions the moralityof those
aboard.Simultaneously, Hardin delivers the possible outcomes of each solution to strengthen his
stance against assisting the poor. Garrett Hardin, zeroing in on the negative outcomes of allowing
others aboard the lifeboat, effectively supports his claim, through his metaphoric model of the
lifeboat , the plethora of scenarios, and the inclusion of moral theories. In the beginning, Garrett
Hardin adequately illustrates the idea of the Lifeboat Scenario to introduce his logic for not (280).
First, Hardin states that there are 50 people located inside the lifeboat, but he notes that there is
room for only 10 more, generating a total capacity of 60 people allowed onboard. Not to mention,

The Arab Spring And Its Aftermath Essay
The Arab Spring and its aftermath have become one of the most influential events of the twenty
first century. The series of revolutions reshaped several governments within the Middle East by
outing long reigning dictators that the people had become progressively frustrated with. The Arab
Spring both aligns with and contradicts several previous waves of revolution and is truly a twenty
first century conflict because of the role that modern technology played. Through studying the
Arab Spring, political scientists have been given a glimpse into what future revolutions might
look like, especially in regards to the expanding role of social media. In order for revolutions to
occur, there must be several necessary structural conditions, which were all present during the Arab
Spring. First, there must be fiscal strain, which is often caused by demographic changes within the
region (Goldstone 2014). Many Middle Eastern countries during the early twenty first century
experienced a youth bulge due to policies encouraging childbirth (Amar and Prashad 2013) . This
new wave of young people, especially the young men, were unable to find jobs and the subsequent
financial stability (Amar and Prashad 2013). This led to dissatisfaction with the government and
frustration that would soon turn into anger once a specific queue, according to relative deprivation
theory, ignited the group (Gurr 1970). This queue was in the form of the self immolation of a fruit

The Consequences Of Whaling And Its Effects On The...
Whaling is the hunting of whales to obtain meat and blubber. The blubber is brought to a station
off the shore designed to boil the blubber into oil (Hacquebord 2001). All these components of a
whale are useful to humans, but by extracting these whales at such a high rate may have
consequences for the ecosystem they leave behind (Hacquebord 2001;Williams et al. 2004;Baum
and Worm 2009). It is important to question the effects mass exploitation has on the environment
in order to prevent or predict certain unwanted changes for future removal (Williams et al.
2004;Baum and Worm 2009). Whaling has been studied from various time periods and different
places around the world (Hacquebord 2001;Williams et al. 2004;Trites et al. 2007;Baum and Worm
2009).
In 1977 there was an increase in certain species of lions and seals in British Columbia, while in
Alaska there was a decrease of seals and sea lions (Williams et al. 2004;Trites et al. 2007).
Because this happened after commercial whaling, many attribute the decline with cascading top
down effect (Trites et al. 2007). There are many other factors that make an impact and based on
research the removal of the whales did not cause the shift in seals and sea lions (Trites et al.
2007). Most studies are conducted to focus on the predator and a species of prey of a neighboring
trophic layer (Baum and Worm 2009). Another whaleinfluencing this environment is the Killer

the most influential forms of rail transportation was the steam train. This train changed the world
with its ability to make rail transportation available to the public, travel at high speeds, and haul
heavy loads.
Though the first public railways were built in England, one of the most significant public
railways was the American Transcontinental Railroad. Before this railroad was built, slower,
more inconvenient forms of transportation had to be used such as horse and wagon. The
construction of this historic railway began in 1863. Workers built westward from the town of
Omaha, Nebraska and at the same time they built eastward from Sacramento, California. The end
result was 2,900 kilometers of rails. Before this railroad was built, one would have to take a
wagon, horse, or a combination of shorter railroads and several ships to reach the other side of the
country. Where the builders met working from east and west, both sides of the rails were sealed
together with golden nails on May tenth, 1869 in northern Utah. The point where the two rails met
is now a national monument. The railroad took six years to build. It was the invention of the steam
engine that enabled the development of the railroad.
Steam trains are powered by steam engines, which

Responsibility Of Creation In Frankenstein
Parents and creators set the main foundation to their creation or offspring. Though Sharon Begley
portrayed that the environment in where the creation or offspring were raised also hindered their
outcome as an adult and the amount of violence contributed. Mary Shelley s fascinating science
fiction novel, Frankenstein, conveyed how the creation was a living proof of how without a creator
or parentto guide him through as a child he would have a higher chance of committing a crime or
becoming violent. Shelly further suggests that since the creation grew up isolated and rejected by
the people around him it increased his aggression as he grew older and hindered his behavior
vastly. The responsibility of a creator is not just to create, but to loveand protect their children.
They are a product of not just their own inherited nature, but also as important of their creator s
nurturing or lack thereof. One responsibility of a creator is to take responsibility of their creation,
instead of abandoning it, they should nurture it. The creator should love their creation despite
anything because it is something they created and their minds are still innocent; the creation just
wants attention and to be loved. After Victor created his creation, he referred to him as a hideous
monster because of how he looked. The creation in Shelley s story emphasizes the loneliness of
growing up feeling miserable and abandoned, (Shelley 165), and how Victor s job as a creator was
not carried out.

Genocide In The Ottoman Empire
The events of World War I in the Ottoman Empire, where approximately two million Christian
inhabitants were killed or disappeared traceless, are usually described as the 1915 genocide or the
Armenian genocide since the Armenians constituted up to 1.5 million of these victims. The
genocide practically emptied the Ottoman Empireand current Turkey from its Christian population,
leaving an almost entirely Muslim/Turkish Turkey. Genocideis considered to have been intended as
a solution to the Armenian Question, but also other minorities in the Ottoman Turkey, mainly
Christian Assyrians/Syrians/Chaldeans and Greeks suffered as well.
The massacres were an attempt to create a new homogenous Turkish state. The former ethnic and
religious diversity that characterized the Ottoman Empire, had in the accelerating decomposition of
the empire from early 1800s, disappeared, namely when the Christian nations in the Balkans began
to free themselves and proclaim independence. This made the Ottoman Empire, from being multi
religious, now converted to a virtually Muslim empire. It did not take long until the Arabs of North

Coup In Chile Essay
The coup in Chile on September 11, 1973 was a military action carried out by the Armed Forces of
Chile formed by the Navy, Air Force and Army together with Carabineros de Chile to overthrow the
socialist president Salvador Allende and the Popular Unity government.
Salvador Allende took office in 1970 as President of Chile, the first Marxist politician in the world
who came to power through general elections in a state of Derecho. For His government, marking
reformist, was characterized by a growing polarization society and politics in a tough economic
crisis that led to a strong social upheaval.
The ability to execute a coup against the Allende government existed even before his election. The

On October 19, 1970, a group of men equipped with tear gas grenades attempted to kidnap
Schneider off an official dinner. The attempt failed because the General left the room in his
private car and not in the official vehicle provided by the men of Viaux. The second attempted
abduction took place at 08:00 on October 22, 1970, when the official car of Schneider was
blocked by four vehicles at the corner of Avenida AmГ©rico Vespucio with Martin de Zamora
(Las Condes) and a group youth surrounded the General, with hammers smashing the rear
windows and rear side door. Realizing that Schneider took his weapon to repel the action, the
kidnappers shot him, impacting it with three bullets, then fled. Cape driver, Leopoldo Mauna
Morales, seeing bleeding the commander in chief, took him to the Military Hospital. Because of
its critical condition, the general suffered cardiac arrest and died at 07:50 of October 25, 1970,
Schneider Doctrine was a principle of adherence to constitutional order, respect for the citizens will
and nonintervention in policy by the Chilean Army. He embodied by the Chilean general, allowed
the election of Salvador Allende as president of Chile, and was the main ideological obstacle to
military coup against him.

Descartes Mind and Body
Descartes Mind Body Dualism
Rene Descartes main purpose is to attempt to prove that the mind that is the soul or the thinking
thing is distinct and is separate from the body. This thinking thing was the core of himself, which
doubts, believes, reasons, feels and thinks. Descartes considers the body to be an extended
unthinking thing; therefore it is possible that one may exist without the other. This view is known
as mind body dualism. He believes that what he is thinking in his mind is what God created and
instilled in him. Descartes outlines many arguments to support and prove his claims of his
discoveries. He states that because he can think, his mind exists. This is known as the Cogito,
which is the first existential principal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It does not rule out other possibilities, such as waking up to find oneself to be not a human but a
different form of life. Therefore the statement of the body is too broad to specifically identify as
being in human form. Also, it should be noted that the Cogito only works for the thought. It
cannot be used in a sense that, I can walk or sleep therefore I exist since I can doubt these actions
carried out by the body. The reason why a person cannot doubt itself is because the doubt is in a
form of a thought in ones mind, not an action of our body.
Descartes discusses that physical objects are more known distinctly through the mind than
through the body and explains his reason further in the Wax Argument. The Wax Argument
describes how Descartes wanted to show that we come to know things using the intellectual
parts of our brain rather than through our senses. Basically, Descartes is trying to prove that we
know the mind truly better than anything else, like our bodies and the world outside of the
mind. This argument begins by describing the process of change by which solid wax melts until
it has changed its phase of matter to form a liquid puddle. Descartes describes the wax uses his
senses as he says, Its color, shape, and size are manifest. It is hard and cold; it is easy to touch. If
you wrap it with your knuckle it will emit a sound. In short, everything is present in that it appears

Reliability Based Cost Model Essay
Reliability Based Cost Model Development As it is of December 2017, AWST contracts Romax
for wind farm Operation and Maintenance costs estimates. The motivation for contracting Romax
instead of performing an estimate ourselves is that Romax can do a better job than AWST due to
a larger database of failure modes and deeper expertise. Due to this reason, AWST does not have a
model that could have ingested the data even if it was available that is an additional barrier for in
house cost model. This memo will lay down the difficulties and the way to overcome them to create
an in house reliability based cost model. An additional benefit of pursuing reliability statistics is the

complicated but it is based only on the Weibull failure distribution and Markov matrices process
which some people of our team are very familiar with. Alternatively, a simple Monte Carlo
simulation for two states up and down can be calculated using the Weibull failure distribution
described below. Developing an algorithm to process the time in operating, failing, and failed
condition for each of the components is the key element for the cost modeling. This effort should
go in parallel with obtaining the Weibull distributions for each of the components described below.
A feedback should be obtained from Brian Kramak and Stephen Lightfoote to quantify the time
and effort required for developing Markov Chain Monte Carlo algorithm. Weibull Distribution
Most of the failure modes follow a two parameter Weibull failure distribution as shown below.
F(t)=1 exp[ (t/О·(X) )^ОІ ] О·(X)=characteristic life (scale parameter) ОІ=Weibull slope (shape
parameter) ОІ is obtained through Weibull Log fit from field data. О·(X) is obtained through
fitting a Weibull Log Linear model (also known as Weibull regression or Weibull proportional
hazards).

All Men Are Created Equal Research Paper
Culture and ethnic groups have many strict values and principles when it comes to war. Most ethnic
groups tend to focus on themselves rather than taking into account the international issues that are
occurring. With the advancement of society, these groups often stand by their morals instead of
trying to engage in new ones and accepting the worldwide conflicts. More often than not, ethnic
groups are discriminated against even after the rise of the concept All men are created equal (The
Declaration of Independence). Yet, this idea is neglected especially in regards to social status and
race. These people have different intentions and repeatedly are being encouraged to blend into
American society and leave their values behind. In the past, equality and individual rights were
portrayed in an extremely different matter which impacted people s views on freedom today.
In today s generation, converging viewpoints make it difficult for an individual to speak their own
mind without prejudice. Politics have a huge range of diverse opinions; however, international
affairs need to be decided by a nation as a whole. In the past, politics led to rivalry between the
north and the south because of distinct aspects of slavery and land disputes. Constitutional

symbolizes. Generally, God is seen a source of light or guidance. People are very reliant on God,

Zeitoun Literary Analysis
Journalism is popular, but it is popular mainly as fiction. Life is one world, and life seen in the
newspapers is another. ~Gilbert Chesterton. Journalism, narratives and stories contain aspects of
fiction because life on paper juxtaposes the reality of society. Similar controversy surrounds Eggers
novelZeitoun due to the fact that it alters the audience perception of the Zeitoun family from a
dark reality into a heroic story with a purpose of promoting his own message. While Eggers
incorporates a power narrative, his novel Zeitoun is fictionbecause he employs repeated imagery
and false characterization in order to manipulate his readers to focus on the dehumanization and
injustices of Hurricane Katrina victims and their cooperation to... Show more content on

In an article by John Simmerman, Kathy reveals to the public that she suffered abuse from her
husband sometime after they got married in 1994 up until the storm and afterward. (Simmerman,
1). The phrase 1994 up until the storm and afterward stresses that this violence took place way
before and during the publishing of the novel. In contrast to the novel s false characterization of a
happy marriage, Kathy exposes the violence she faced as she was married to Zeitoun. Thus,
establishing that as Eggers incorporated the perfect narrative to convey the injustices faced by
Zeitoun, he hid the fact that Zeitoun was not a heroic citizen and rather he was an abusive man
towards his wife. Furthermore, in Victoria Patterson s article, he articulates that Eggers Zeitoun is
a loving family man peaceful, calm, and devoted to his wife, but in actuality, Zeitoun is punching
his now ex wife in the back of her head. (Patterson, 2). The characterization of peaceful, calm
collocates with his actual actions such as punching . In contrast to Eggers false characterization of
Zeitoun as peaceful and calm, real world Zeitoun is actually very abusive and violent. Thus,

  • 2. Dance Analysis I cannot say enough how much of an honor it is to dance here at Towson. I have changed as a dancer and as an individual. I have always been hard on myself in everything I do especially dance. When I make a mistake I unconsciously beat myself up and push myself to work harder. Dr. Sue sat me down one day and told me you have to believe that you are more than enough. She was basically telling me that I was hindering myself from reaching my fullest potential. I was running myself down by working the wrong body part. I has pushing myself physically but what really needed to change was my mental image I had of myself. Once I was able recognize where I was and that it was ok to be there I saw greater improvement in my dancing. Watching the final... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a nut shell I realized I had become complacent. I was used to doing well and was expecting to do well because I had been having a good week. However, I was not in a place to receive. As dancers I believe it important to be flexible and able to be taught be anyone, however sometimes as individuals we resist. I felt the resistance even with Mrs. Candace s class. The first month of this semester modern was very difficult for me, not because I was incapable but because I was not in a mental place to receive. Once I change my way of thinking my dancing changed completely. After Mr. Greenstein s class I made these connections. As a dancer I want to work on discovering how to avoid resisting a new style. I want to learn how to approach something I do not know in the most positive way. Sometime we can t control our reactions, so what can I do be accepting. I am excited for my next year at Towson. This yea I felt I was put in a position to be successful. I had to re build my foundation and go from there. I am excited to go to dance theater of Harlem this summer, I do not think I would be as ready as I feel if I was not a dance major here at Towson. Over the summer I want to work on control and point work. Because I have learned so much on flat I will be able to translate that to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the gang started stalking and threatening Belkis, then 13, she followed, making the terrifying six month journey across Mexico by herself. She was caught by the Border Patrol last September, while crossing into the United States. Now she faced one more trauma: America s judicial system. • 4. Effects Of Murder In Macbeth Murder is a damaging act to one s mind. After committing/assisting in a murder, the mind is changed, and changes the overall person as well. These changes are different in all situations. They depend on the level of involvement, what the person is like before, and how violent the actual murder is. The most impactful element, however, is the violence of the murder. For example, Macbeth and Lady Macbeth were described by Shakespeare both before and after the murder. This helps readers to understand the characters mindsets and how the event has shaped them. One of the best examples of murder s influence on the mind comes from Shakespeare s play Macbeth. Before committing any murder, Macbeth was lighthearted and not at all serious. Even... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If anything, real people are affected more. There is more scientific backing to how they re affected. One of the most active parts of the brain during a murder is the orbitofrontal cortex. This part of the brain is involved with moral sensitivity. In a study conducted with soldiers, this area was more active when the soldier was aware of shooting an innocent person in the simulation. there was consistently greater activity in the lateral portion of the OFC when subjects imagined shooting civilians. A region of the brain that tends to be less active during murder is the lingual gyrus. This region is the part of the brain that would justify a murder. Increased activity would be seen when soldiers would kill enemies. This could explain why the effect isn t as drastic on the brain when the killing seems justified, versus the orbitofrontal cortex being more active in more of the unjustified murders, which can tend to be more ... Pharmaceutical advertisements has been the subject of deliberation for more than a century. Pharmaceutical advertising and marketing make up a large fragment of the activities of pharmaceutical corporations. These publications can be extremely informative as long as they are analytically evaluated. However, the data enclosed in promotional material may be scant or erroneous. Assuredly, the pharmaceutical marketingactivities has a great effect on the behavior of the physicians however hidden rather than suggested in its script noticeable (Makowska, 2014; UKessays, 2015). The ethical marketing strategies in the pharmaceutical industryare procedures used to sell medicines morally. The strategy must be as such that it does not influence the decision making criteria of physicians. Ethical marketing is usually referred to as the use of marketing ethics into the marketing process. The establishment of marketing ethics has the potential to benefit society as a whole and should be considered a part of business ethics in the sense that marketing forms a substantial part of any business model. During the negotiation process, there are a lot of moving parts and personalities. In addition, hurt feelings can all too often get in the way. The bottom line of any negotiation is to reach a settlement that will mutually benefit both parties. It s a challenging situation by which compromise or agreement is reached while attempting to avoid arguments and disputes. The Zinnia Labor Agreement Project was an insightful learning simulation. It was interesting, frustrating, and a unique experience. The project required keeping an open mind and approaching the simulation with an integrative approach. However, all parties involved in the negotiation process must take into consideration this same approach. Additionally, trust between management and labor union is beneficial. Trust can be a slippery thing when it comes to negotiating. • 10. Analysis Of The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald Superheroes have been scrutinized for several for methods dealing with criminals and how they react in their everyday lives. Inner personal problems of a hero have a way to change the meaning of their status and affect the effectiveness of a hero s influence and philosophical meaning. This is usually forced into comic books and movies to give a character an air of grit in their media. Sometimes this creates a beautiful masterpiece of story and introduces depth to the character, but it can also have a detrimental to the image of the character. Taking a darker tone with a superherotype character is ultimately a bad idea in the long run because it s is hard to create a mature story with most characters without deviating from what the fans believe in the character and how they are seen by others causing problems for the parent company, giving characters a darker tone can destroy a classic character s easily recognizable characteristics also, the move can sink a company whose reputation was ruined by the decision. Having a fantastical ability is always a hindrance when writing a serious or dark story because there is the need to ground the story in realism and believability. Darker superhero stories can t handle superpowers well within the story telling and writing. Most darker stories who have a character with extremely unusual superpowers tend to have either a convoluted plots or just destroys the meaning of the character to the point where people hate the new representation. ... After having a child, one of the most important decisions new parents face is how they want their children to be fed. Physicians recommend that infants are exclusively breastfed for at least the first six months of their lives. It is recommended that breastfeeding continues, along with the introduction of solid foods, until about the end of the infants first year of life. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for infants and helps to boost their immune system. Additionally, from my personal experiences, many people that prefer formula feeding as opposed to breastfeeding often say that they believe their baby is born with enough immune protection to remain healthy. This is not true at all. I have heard people argue that during pregnancy, the mother transmits enough antibodies, or immunoglobins, for the baby s immune system to function properly. According to Jackson and Nazar, there is an antibodycalled the IgG antibody that passes to the infant through the placenta while inside the mother s womb (The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association). While this is true, the IgG antibody is not enough to support a newborn infant s immune system. Jackson and Nazar stated that this antibody only gives protection for about the first six to twelve months after birth ( Breastfeeding, the Immune Response, and Long Term Health. ). Also, infants have an immature immune system and need additional antibodies from their mother s breast milk to acquire a stronger immune system. IgA, IgG, IgM, and IgD are all antibodies found in a mother s breast milk. It s better to be safe and supply an infant with breast milk, which contains all of the nutrients and antibodies they need. • 12. Disadvantages Of Vertical Integration Netflix could pursue multiple options in order to remain viable in the industry. In order to achieve vertical integration Netflix would have to control two of the four aspects of the supply chain. Those include commodities, manufacturing, distribution, and retail. There are many advantages to vertical integration including control over the market (Amadeo, 2016). If Netflix could have a partnership with the movie and television industry they could monopolize the online streaming industry and, therefore, decrease cost to the consumer. By collaborating with the partners this would decrease cost to Netflix and increase revenues. This would allow more offerings for the viewer and increase customerloyalty and increase the customer base. Overall efficiency is improved when collaborating with supply companies. A supply chain strategy is important to any company when making strategic decisions. This improves the ability to effectively market products, and improves distribution of products to the consumer (Ferrell, Hartline, 2014). Essentially, this project sparked an interest in the different egg titles, which lead me to seek out more humane lifestyles for these hens. Sadly, some (people) hold this (animal treatment) on a basis of divine revelation the other animals were put here for human kind to use as they see fit while others deny that animals have the kind of subjectivity or experience that could give rise to a moral duty or obligation on our party (Thompson). For humans, it is easy to view chickens as inferior and boring; however, my project contradicts this assumption. The ten chickens I filmed demonstrated unique characteristics, complex reasoning and future planning, and pure joy whilst roaming freely. Therefore, the battery cage farms are archaic and cruel environments that further support animal cruelty. According to Brian Ahmed, an Australian battery chicken farmer, chickens in battery cages, that is, small wire cages, exist in a cleaner environment where disease and parasite rates are lower. So, they don t fall ill and actually face less fatal risks. In fact, battery chicken s morality rate decreases to 1%. This provides the world with plentiful and affordable eggs (Davey). They are gifted in articulating their ideas, plans and goals to others while creating an ambiance that says, do as I do. This is not something people usually suspect, as was mentioned previously that people assume no reasonable person would admit to guilt if they were innocent. Often times the false confessioncomes about through coercion and the tactics of police attempting to obtain a confession no matter if it is accurate or not. More often than not, wrongful convictions go undetected and this leaves researchers with a gaping hole in the research as one can only examine the causes of wrongful convictions from the framing of wrongful convictions that have been uncovered. From the first step of being wrongfully accused to the last step of being wrongfully punished (whether that be community service, to incarceration, to being put on death row) many factors go into the process of a person being wrongfully accused of criminal activity. This paper theorizes that some of them main causes of a person being wrongfully convicted include the suspect giving false confession typically under the pretense of police trickery, expert evidence being erroneously gathered and/or presented for court, and the impact and validity of eyewitness testimony against the accused. These three causes, working either in cohesion or separately all contribute in a significant manner to wrongful conviction in the criminal justice system. On the surface, studying and examining the causes of wrongful conviction is important so that we can be informed and thus attempt to avoid these causes. However, the benefit of the examination of these causes foes deeper than that. By examining the causes of wrongful conviction one can attempt to disassemble and examine the systems set in place that allow for such errors or misuses of power to exist in the first place. Data validation could easily be implemented in web based questionnaire, which will warn the user about invalid data and tell them what is expected. At the same time this would help the researchers from not having invalid data when analyzing in the lab. For example, when asked a teacher what year the school was established? , the answer has to be a four digit number less than or equal to current year and will not accept text as input. By writing a validation rule in the back end, this could be accomplished (max char size = 4 and reg. expression (/d) which will only accept 4 digit number). Skip logic is another simple aspect of web based questionnaire and it must be implemented when creating and designing a interactive questionnaire. If a respondent answer a question Yes or No , designer can store 1 or 2 in back end for comparison purpose. Based on the comparison result, a question or a series of questions can be skipped. For example, if a respondent answers No when asked if he/she likes to use iPad, rest of the iPad features related questions can be skipped. Skip logic can be helpful targeting a age range as well. Therefore Darwin s theory does not support Chomsky s claim of humans having an innate predisposal to acquire languages as he believed it was something that has evolved and then been developed over time, not something that has always been present in our genetics. Most animals communicate with one another non verbally, for example some bee species have very specific and evolved ways of communicating with each other about the location and quality of food (Winston, 1987, p. 25) or the emperor penguin which uses an intricate set of calls that are very vital for individual recognition between parents, offspring, and mates, demonstrating a very wide range of individual calls from all the penguins (Williams 1995, p. 68). As all these forms of communication appear to be very natural to the species they are relevant to, it suggests they are easily developed and learnt through the social context the being is in. Perhaps this means that these forms of communication are innately predisposed to the specific species, which would surely mean language to be innately governed within humans as it s our way of communication. Furthermore, the ecologist opens the door to the different scenarios in which questions the moralityof those aboard.Simultaneously, Hardin delivers the possible outcomes of each solution to strengthen his stance against assisting the poor. Garrett Hardin, zeroing in on the negative outcomes of allowing others aboard the lifeboat, effectively supports his claim, through his metaphoric model of the lifeboat , the plethora of scenarios, and the inclusion of moral theories. In the beginning, Garrett Hardin adequately illustrates the idea of the Lifeboat Scenario to introduce his logic for not (280). First, Hardin states that there are 50 people located inside the lifeboat, but he notes that there is room for only 10 more, generating a total capacity of 60 people allowed onboard. • 37. The Arab Spring And Its Aftermath Essay The Arab Spring and its aftermath have become one of the most influential events of the twenty first century. The series of revolutions reshaped several governments within the Middle East by outing long reigning dictators that the people had become progressively frustrated with. The Arab Spring both aligns with and contradicts several previous waves of revolution and is truly a twenty first century conflict because of the role that modern technology played. Through studying the Arab Spring, political scientists have been given a glimpse into what future revolutions might look like, especially in regards to the expanding role of social media. In order for revolutions to occur, there must be several necessary structural conditions, which were all present during the Arab Spring. First, there must be fiscal strain, which is often caused by demographic changes within the region (Goldstone 2014). Many Middle Eastern countries during the early twenty first century experienced a youth bulge due to policies encouraging childbirth (Amar and Prashad 2013) . This new wave of young people, especially the young men, were unable to find jobs and the subsequent financial stability (Amar and Prashad 2013). This led to dissatisfaction with the government and frustration that would soon turn into anger once a specific queue, according to relative deprivation theory, ignited the group (Gurr 1970). This queue was in the form of the self immolation of a fruit seller named Mohamed Bouazizi ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Consequences Of Whaling And Its Effects On The... Whaling is the hunting of whales to obtain meat and blubber. The blubber is brought to a station off the shore designed to boil the blubber into oil (Hacquebord 2001). All these components of a whale are useful to humans, but by extracting these whales at such a high rate may have consequences for the ecosystem they leave behind (Hacquebord 2001;Williams et al. 2004;Baum and Worm 2009). It is important to question the effects mass exploitation has on the environment in order to prevent or predict certain unwanted changes for future removal (Williams et al. 2004;Baum and Worm 2009). Whaling has been studied from various time periods and different places around the world (Hacquebord 2001;Williams et al. 2004;Trites et al. 2007;Baum and Worm 2009). In 1977 there was an increase in certain species of lions and seals in British Columbia, while in Alaska there was a decrease of seals and sea lions (Williams et al. 2004;Trites et al. 2007). Because this happened after commercial whaling, many attribute the decline with cascading top down effect (Trites et al. 2007). There are many other factors that make an impact and based on research the removal of the whales did not cause the shift in seals and sea lions (Trites et al. 2007). Most studies are conducted to focus on the predator and a species of prey of a neighboring trophic layer (Baum and Worm 2009). Another whaleinfluencing this environment is the Killer whale (Williams et al. 2004). These need an incredibly high calorie diet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The lack of this approach in the Challenger disaster could be attributed to the fact that the face of failure was invisible to the decision makers compared to the Chrysler Bailout. The highest Chrysler s sales numbers indicated to the decision makers that if a swift and effective decision was not implemented their existence would be short lived. • 40. Research Paper On The Steam Train Sophie Blecha 1st period The Steam Train Railways are one of the fastest ways to travel. From the first steam train in England, to the subways of New York City, people have been fascinated by the speeds of the Iron Horse . One of the most influential forms of rail transportation was the steam train. This train changed the world with its ability to make rail transportation available to the public, travel at high speeds, and haul heavy loads. Though the first public railways were built in England, one of the most significant public railways was the American Transcontinental Railroad. Before this railroad was built, slower, more inconvenient forms of transportation had to be used such as horse and wagon. The construction of this historic railway began in 1863. Workers built westward from the town of Omaha, Nebraska and at the same time they built eastward from Sacramento, California. The end result was 2,900 kilometers of rails. Before this railroad was built, one would have to take a wagon, horse, or a combination of shorter railroads and several ships to reach the other side of the country. Where the builders met working from east and west, both sides of the rails were sealed together with golden nails on May tenth, 1869 in northern Utah. The point where the two rails met is now a national monument. The railroad took six years to build. It was the invention of the steam engine that enabled the development of the railroad. Steam trains are powered by steam engines, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Responsibility Of Creation In Frankenstein Parents and creators set the main foundation to their creation or offspring. Though Sharon Begley portrayed that the environment in where the creation or offspring were raised also hindered their outcome as an adult and the amount of violence contributed. Mary Shelley s fascinating science fiction novel, Frankenstein, conveyed how the creation was a living proof of how without a creator or parentto guide him through as a child he would have a higher chance of committing a crime or becoming violent. Shelly further suggests that since the creation grew up isolated and rejected by the people around him it increased his aggression as he grew older and hindered his behavior vastly. The responsibility of a creator is not just to create, but to loveand protect their children. They are a product of not just their own inherited nature, but also as important of their creator s nurturing or lack thereof. One responsibility of a creator is to take responsibility of their creation, instead of abandoning it, they should nurture it. The creator should love their creation despite anything because it is something they created and their minds are still innocent; the creation just wants attention and to be loved. After Victor created his creation, he referred to him as a hideous monster because of how he looked. The creation in Shelley s story emphasizes the loneliness of growing up feeling miserable and abandoned, (Shelley 165), and how Victor s job as a creator was not carried out. ... • 42. Genocide In The Ottoman Empire The events of World War I in the Ottoman Empire, where approximately two million Christian inhabitants were killed or disappeared traceless, are usually described as the 1915 genocide or the Armenian genocide since the Armenians constituted up to 1.5 million of these victims. The genocide practically emptied the Ottoman Empireand current Turkey from its Christian population, leaving an almost entirely Muslim/Turkish Turkey. Genocideis considered to have been intended as a solution to the Armenian Question, but also other minorities in the Ottoman Turkey, mainly Christian Assyrians/Syrians/Chaldeans and Greeks suffered as well. The massacres were an attempt to create a new homogenous Turkish state. The former ethnic and religious diversity that characterized the Ottoman Empire, had in the accelerating decomposition of the empire from early 1800s, disappeared, namely when the Christian nations in the Balkans began to free themselves and proclaim independence. This made the Ottoman Empire, from being multi religious, now converted to a virtually Muslim empire. It did not take long until the Arabs of North ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 44. Descartes Mind and Body Descartes Mind Body Dualism Rene Descartes main purpose is to attempt to prove that the mind that is the soul or the thinking thing is distinct and is separate from the body. This thinking thing was the core of himself, which doubts, believes, reasons, feels and thinks. Descartes considers the body to be an extended unthinking thing; therefore it is possible that one may exist without the other. This view is known as mind body dualism. He believes that what he is thinking in his mind is what God created and instilled in him. Descartes outlines many arguments to support and prove his claims of his discoveries. He states that because he can think, his mind exists. This is known as the Cogito, which is the first existential principal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It does not rule out other possibilities, such as waking up to find oneself to be not a human but a different form of life. Therefore the statement of the body is too broad to specifically identify as being in human form. Also, it should be noted that the Cogito only works for the thought. It cannot be used in a sense that, I can walk or sleep therefore I exist since I can doubt these actions carried out by the body. The reason why a person cannot doubt itself is because the doubt is in a form of a thought in ones mind, not an action of our body. Descartes discusses that physical objects are more known distinctly through the mind than through the body and explains his reason further in the Wax Argument. The Wax Argument describes how Descartes wanted to show that we come to know things using the intellectual parts of our brain rather than through our senses. Basically, Descartes is trying to prove that we know the mind truly better than anything else, like our bodies and the world outside of the mind. This argument begins by describing the process of change by which solid wax melts until it has changed its phase of matter to form a liquid puddle. Descartes describes the wax uses his senses as he says, Its color, shape, and size are manifest. It is hard and cold; it is easy to touch. If you wrap it with your knuckle it will emit a sound. The motivation for contracting Romax instead of performing an estimate ourselves is that Romax can do a better job than AWST due to a larger database of failure modes and deeper expertise. Due to this reason, AWST does not have a model that could have ingested the data even if it was available that is an additional barrier for in house cost model. This equation looks complicated but it is based only on the Weibull failure distribution and Markov matrices process which some people of our team are very familiar with. Alternatively, a simple Monte Carlo simulation for two states up and down can be calculated using the Weibull failure distribution described below. Developing an algorithm to process the time in operating, failing, and failed condition for each of the components is the key element for the cost modeling. This effort should go in parallel with obtaining the Weibull distributions for each of the components described below. A feedback should be obtained from Brian Kramak and Stephen Lightfoote to quantify the time and effort required for developing Markov Chain Monte Carlo algorithm. • 46. All Men Are Created Equal Research Paper Culture and ethnic groups have many strict values and principles when it comes to war. Most ethnic groups tend to focus on themselves rather than taking into account the international issues that are occurring. With the advancement of society, these groups often stand by their morals instead of trying to engage in new ones and accepting the worldwide conflicts. More often than not, ethnic groups are discriminated against even after the rise of the concept All men are created equal (The Declaration of Independence). Yet, this idea is neglected especially in regards to social status and race. These people have different intentions and repeatedly are being encouraged to blend into American society and leave their values behind. In the past, equality and individual rights were portrayed in an extremely different matter which impacted people s views on freedom today. In today s generation, converging viewpoints make it difficult for an individual to speak their own mind without prejudice. Politics have a huge range of diverse opinions; however, international affairs need to be decided by a nation as a whole.
