Eastern And Western Religions Analysis
How The Western and Eastern Religions Come Together
Most religions around the world are different in a lot of ways, but sometimes they do believe in the
same things. It is common for a religion to share ideas with each other. This is how some religions can
relate to each other. In the class discussion Hinduism Religion they share the idea of ¨Multiple choices
of a god with Christianity. One problem is that Hinduism has over 100 different kinds of gods but
Christianity has 3.Obviously There are way too many gods in Hinduism, sadly too many to name, but
in Christianity there is the father the son ,and the holy spirit. Nevertheless this gives you a option of
which one you want to pray to. In class we said that Confucianism can be similar to

Fadkins Case Study
The Fadkins Diet is a diet where all you eat is protein and no carbs. There are many different diets, but
is this diet in particular good for us? Well in the case study name, Atkins or Fadkins by Karen E.
Bledsoe, she writes about Mitchell experience when he was on the Fadkins Diet. Mitchell believes the
facts about The Fadkins Diet that other people tell him. Yet, he doesn t know what could happen to
him if he goes on the diet and eat way too much protein instead of eating carbs too. Based on the
statement made in this study clearly shows that Mitchell is misguided. To start off with, Mitchell is on
this new diet called The Fadkins Diet . He believes that someone could lose weight by eating protein
and no carbohydrates. Yeah, I am.. I hear it s really good. Someone my brother knows lost ... Show

In fact, Fadkins Diet side effects are fatigue, dizziness, headaches, and hypoglycemia. Another one of
Mitchell s saying, It s just that, well, I get pretty hungry and tired and cranky eating nothing but the
low carb stuff I m supposed to have. And I was getting headaches. Okay, so I m cheating a little bit.
But man, you can t believe the cravings I ve had for bread and cereal and stuff. So I started eating
some, and I feel better. What is making Mitchell get headaches is that he has low blood sugar. The
human body requires sugar to survive, so the bodies could carry glucose around. Endocrine hormones
controls blood sugar by having the pancreas produce insulin (a hormone that helps glucose move the
blood into cells for energy useage) and glucagon (that raises the gathering of glucose in the
bloodstream). Both these hormones are referred to Pancreatic Endocrine Hormones. The production of
insulin and glucagon by pancreatic determines if a person has diabetes and hypoglycemia. So if a
person has a very high blood sugar or very low blood sugar, they ll feel cranky or get

Midland Resources 1. How are Mortensen s estimates of Midland s costs of capital used? How, if at

acceptable rate of return for new investments in the corporation. Estimates of Midland s cost of capital

financial accounting, performance assessments, M A proposals, and stock repurchase decisions. These

Analysis Of Lather And Nothing Else
It takes a special type of person to not act in accordance with the majority. However, once over the
mob mentality people could see things in a different light. In Hernando Tellez s short story Lather and
Nothing Else , the protagonist, who is a barber, must have the foresight to make the right call. Two
rival political movements are at odds with one another in the setting of the story, 1800 s Latin
America. The barber is secretly a rebel and is surprised when a customer of his is Captain Torres, who
is a pro government enforcer. Even though they are of rival parties, the barber throughout the short
story contemplates whether or not he should murder the man. Ultimately, he decides not to kill the
captain because he values his reputation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This ties back to the idea that the decision he made was the right one. The barber has a personal
connection with Captain Tellez, a murderer. He watched him hang four of his former comrades after a
skirmish between them occurred; the barber further incentive to kill him. However, using foresight
and reasoning, he realizes that killing him would be futile as there will be more to take his place. The
barber is realizing the futility of the potential aftermath that could follow by killing Tellez. Thinking to
himself he says; What is to be gained by it? Nothing. Others and still others keep coming, and the first
kill the second...and so on until everything becomes a sea of blood (Tellez 3). In this quotation the
protagonist questions his motives. The fleeting nationalism that the rebel movement ensued upon him
makes him ponder. However, it is soon followed up by a powerful one worded sentence, Nothing as
the barber makes up his mind. Also, the author uses phrases such as others and still others and so on to
give us a sense of the futility of the situation. It paints a picture in the reader s mind of the amount of
power and people the government has against the rebels. This ties into the main idea that by saving
himself and sticking to what he knows, rather than kill Captain Tellez, was a good decision. In
conclusion, in Hernando Tellez s short story, Lather and Nothing

Football Dangers In Football
How dangerous is football in high school? The issue focused on how often the football players get
injured and if high school athletes got injured more than college athletes. Football is a tough sport, but
the results of getting injured, sometimes in that sport are so severe, improvements can be made to try
and make it a safer sport for all the players high school or college. Multiple athletes give it their all out
on the field, but some end up with severe injuries that can affect them for the rest of their lives. The
article focuses on some of the ways and precautions that athletes and coaches can do or take to prevent
athletes from receiving concussions or worse injuries. This essay discusses, high school football
players are very likely to get injured towards ending season more than football college players for
various reasons. A research associate said, there are ways to reduce the number and severity of
football injuries through targeted intervention. (resource 1) There were high levels of knee and ankle
injuries, due to ligament sprains. A way that can help to improve on those types of injuries would be
stretching exercises. The positions that run a higher risk of being injured would be the running backs
and linebackers. Football is the number one leading cause of sports related injuries. (resource 1) The
key aspect discussed, in this sport, there is a difference in high school athletes and college athletes for
the simple fact that athletes that are still in high school have brain tissue that has not been fully
developed to its full capacity, whereas football players in college are already adults with their brain
tissue developed completely. Studies show, concussions are more dangerous for teenagers because
their brain tissue is less developed than adults. (resource 2) The gear that football players use should
be safer in terms of being in suitable conditions, multiple young players use unsuitable gear that has
been passed down long past their prime. (resource 2) If their gear was in suitable conditions, there
would be less head injuries occurring to the players specially the high school players because like
anything else those helmets are going to become unsafe and less sturdy. The game could

My Own Development From Perinatal Conception
Introduction:
Development is a gradual and complex process of unfolding from a simple to a more complex
individual (Mosby, 2010). It is entirely unique evolution to every individual and continues for the
duration of a lifespan. The domains of change include physical, cognitive, social and emotional. This
essay will explore my own development from perinatal conception, through to adolescence. Different
theorists and concepts will be analysed and discussed in relation to my own development.
Perinatal:
The perinatal stage consists of development from conception through to birth (Mosby, 2010). Due to
the environment being within the womb for this period of time, some of the influences upon the foetus
derive from the mother. Maternal age, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be visualised by comparing me to my siblings, we all grew in the same womb, yet look
unique to one another due to biological differences.
Infancy and Toddlerhood:
During infancy to toddlerhood, between zero and two years old, I developed normally and reached all
the milestones of sitting, standing, walking, grasping, and talking. I was breast fed, which positively
influenced these developments by providing me with the essential nutrients I needed for growth and
development. An infant deprived of adequate nutrients may struggle to reach their physical and
cognitive potential as the demands are not been meet and therefore impact negatively upon other
aspects of growth (Jacobson, Carter Jacobson, 2014).
The act of breast feeding also played a role in my emotional and social development by helping me to
form a strong bond of attachment and trust with my mother who held and fed me. Bowlby s
attachment theory suggests that children have instinctive need to form attachments. Initially one form
of attachment is made to one figure, usually the mother, who acts as a secure foundation for future
relationships (Holmes, 2014). I was able to make this bond with my mother, and suggested by Bowlby
s theory, this enabled me to make relationships with others. However, as I am a characteristically shy
individual, I find making new relationships difficult at times. This could be a contribution to maternal
deprivation, but as I have an

and why should I consider taking a lower salary.... I want explanations. You can t just come and try to
take what I build and created away from me, Walt defended. Scott tried to reason with me again, We re
offering you a chance to keep everything, all you have to do is agree to receiving lower pay. No, there
has to be a reason why you re doing this, I questioned not listening to what Scott was trying to
explain. We told you this before, Oswald is currently riding high and you have the upper hand in all of
this, but currently you have hired away all of your employees so this is your only decision, Scott
explained. Oh I see now, they just want a part of all the hard work I did. But, why should I let them?

I ve Lost My Faith in Organized Religion Essay
I ve Lost My Faith in Organized Religion
When I was four years old, I used to stand on top of the pews and sing my heart out. I had what my
mother still refers to as a heart for Jesus, and I loved to sing. I sang so loudly and with so much
enthusiasm that I was an embarrassment to my incredibly introverted parents and a blessing to the
adults around me.
I loved church. From belting Father Abraham to watching Gospel Bill videos to coloring pictures of
David and Goliath, it was endless fun. The Sunday School teachers seemed immortal, and I loved
talking to them, and I wanted to be just like them when I grew up. I learned to obey my parents and
love my neighbor and speak in tongues. And of course I learned to love Jesus.

The clever church does not stop at using guilt to obtain funding. It further seeks to control its members
and every aspect of their lives. The church wants carbon copies of sin free, squeaky clean, productive
citizens. Mormans are expected to spend two years of their lives volunteering as missionaries (
Oxtoby 319 ). The Catholic religion uses guilt to get its members to abstain from the use of birth
control ( Oxtoby 329 ). The Catholic Church also tries to increase church attendance by making it a
mortal sin to not attend church. Many Christian religions try to get their young people to remain
innocent and pure by teaching them that sex is a dirty and sinful act outside of marriage. Baptists are
taught to feel guilty about dancing, and Jews are forbidden from even touching ham or pork ( Oxtoby
75 ). Whether the church needs money, mass numbers of people, or specific behaviors from its
followers, it can always be sure to achieve the desired results with a little bit of good old fashioned
guilt.
One of the things that bothers me the most about religion is that it is extremely judgmental. Although
they throw around phrases like, hate the sin, not the sinner, the actions of religious people speak
louder than their words. I was told since I was born that anyone who did not accept Jesus Christ as his
personal Lord and Savior would go to hell. The Church

Lady Macbeth Sacrifice Research Paper

Sacrificing for Success Success never occurs without a cost. In order to achieve success, one must
face a path of obstacles and make sacrifices along the way. Sacrifice is the act of giving up something
that one values in order to accomplish something greater. Throughout the play Macbeth, written by
Shakespeare, and The Social Network, directed by David Flincher, the characters encounter
circumstances that ignite their ambition. It is this ambition that paves their way to success, however,
not without consequences. Yet, what ultimately decides if one s sacrifice is worth it in the end? Even
though sacrifices are inevitable when it comes to succeeding, it does not always have good results, and

Macbeth s dearest partner of greatness (1.5.10 11), Lady Macbeth, learns of his recent revelations and
decides to sacrifice her own femininity and kindness, and calls upon the spirits exclaiming, unsex me
here, and fill me, from the crown to the toe, top full of direst cruelty! (1.5.44 46). In other words, Lady
Macbeth has sacrificed her own morals, like Macbeth, in order to aid in the assassination of Duncan
and succeed in becoming Queen of Scotland. Equivalently, Eduardo contributes just as much to make
certain of Mark and Facebook s success by contributing $19,000. He sacrifices his time and money, by
traveling around to find business deals, and funding the network as well as Mark s home in California.
However, the result of Lady Macbeth and Eduardo s sacrifices end alike. Where both characters
served of great importance to their partners at the start, once their partners began to develop a certain
independence, both Lady Macbeth and Eduardo served no need for Mark and Macbeth. This
eventually leads to the deterioration of both characters Lady Macbeth guilt becomes too much to
handle and results in her committing suicide; and Eduardo s contributions backfire on him when his
shares are diluted. Ultimately, the sacrifices made by these two characters were not worth

My Life Changed For The Worst
I remember the day so vividly, the day that my life changed for the worst. It was just like every other
year. We were going to get Tux, my cat, shaved. He s a long haired cat so we get him shaved every
summer so he does not get unbearably hot. This year was slightly different, though. Along with getting
him shaved, we were getting some potential tumors checked to see if they were cancerous, and get
them removed. Although I was nervous about the tumors, I did not think much of it because nobody
expects their cat to have cancer. The car ride to the vet was just like every other time, except the traffic
was heavier than usual that morning. It was around 7 o clock in the morning. It was a sunny day,
probably around 80 degrees. My mom and I were carrying on small talk, and we had the radio playing
quietly for background noise in hope of it calming Tux down. My mom thought it was annoying how
much Tux talks in the car, but I find it very humorous. He never talks more than he does when he goes
on car rides. We finally arrived at the vet clinic, after what seemed to be such a long car ride between
Tux crying and all the traffic along the way. I picked the heavy cage up off my lap that held Tux inside
of it. My mom went over to the receptionist to her know that we had arrived, but Tux and I went to go
sit down in the waiting area. I had on my favorite pair of Soffee shorts, and I could not quit thinking
about how cold it was inside the animal clinic. I remember when I sat down

Dr Pepper Tan Advertising
Dr. Pepper TEN the Manliest Low Calorie Soda in the History of Mankind. This slogan is displayed at
the end of every Dr. Pepper TEN commercial. During these commercials a man is shown outdoors
drinking Dr. Pepper TEN with the aid of the local wildlife. When viewed on the surface the
commercial is short and simple this man is manly and he drinks Dr. Pepper TEN because of its bold
flavor but when viewed under other lenses questions arise: How are the ideas of bold flavor and
manliness expressed in the commercial and how are they connected to the low calorie soda?
The correlation between the bold flavor with low calories and the manliness ensued is one of
vagueness. While Dr. Pepper TEN identifies as both bold and manly they lack an explicit definition in
the commercial. This is done by the exaggerating the qualities to a commercial level. To see how

During the dodge commercials we see a world where masculinity is defined by technological mystery
while during the Dr. Pepper TEN commercial we see it as bear minimum and simplicity. This shift of
what society views masculinity as can be attributed a couple of causes. At the time of the Dodge
commercial society was centered on the powerful and technologic devices that were rapidly
advancing. This pushed for masculinity to be that of a very technical idea. On the other side at the
time of the Dr. Pepper TEN commercial society had reached an understanding of the complex
technological world and were reaping the benefits that come with such advancements. Dr. Pepper took
this and redefined manliness as that of getting in touch with the simpler side of technology by means
of having a new product to add to the market and advertising it by showing that sometimes in life all
one needs is a Dr. Pepper

Bart Station Analysis
As I walked through Downtown Berkeley, I decided to sit near the Bart Station. I noticed that
everyone around me had somewhere to go because it felt like everyone was in a rush. For example, I
noticed that people were jaywalking the streets. As I sat down, I noticed that there were other students
from my class that sat down near me as well. In addition, I also noticed Tak was sitting behind me,
eating his sandwich. As I was sitting down and looked at those who were walking, I realized that it
was mostly caucasians that were passing by, many dressed well, some were even wearing suits. Most
of the people that walked by were students and adults and some of them were in groups and some

It is a finely grained substance that is captured and recycled at power plants with a variety of uses in
the construction industry. Fly ash is most commonly used as a pozzolan as an admixture for Portland
cement in concrete production. According to the IEA Clean Coal Centre, there are over 2300 coal fired
power stations worldwide, where 620 of those plants located in China . Coal generates 54% of the
world s electricity and is the single biggest CO2 air polluter . Due to these statistics, it is obvious that
a significant amount of fly ash is also produced worldwide. The manufacture of fly ash requires a
considerable amount energy including the transportation of raw materials, electrical energy involved
in the operation of equipment and the energy required for the combustion inside a power plant. With
this, the production of fly ash produces air pollutants. These are NO2, SO2, particulates, mercury and
CO2. These pollutants have significant impacts on the degradation of the natural environment. Due to
this, there has been a significant drive to using alternative sustainable fuel sources in order to reduce
worldwide harmful emissions. However, because fly ash is simply a by product of power generation,
not the end product, it is in fact an environmentally conservative product, one that should be promoted
in the construction industry. If the percentage of fly ash recycled could be increased, it would

The Widow s Sorrow
Sorrow is life as life is sorrow. Sorrow discriminate no one and affects everyone. From the loss of
innocent to the loss of life, sorrow is man s best friend as it is an enemy, but with sorrow, there comes
hope for rejuvenation with the change of seasons. William Carlos Williams closely analyzes sorrow a
dead partner creates in his poem The Widow s Lament in the Springtime with his naturalistic imagery
to depict the movement of sorrow through time. First with the dead of a loved one, Williams employs
fiery imagery to portray the personal sorrow of the widow. While she may experience sorrow before,
the new sorrow became [her] own yard (Williams 1) that is always with her. As life is full of sorrow,

My Long Term Goal Is My Life
I would love to get back into running. It used to be a passion of mine, a way to relieve stress, kept me
in shape, and maintained my weight. Since I have stopped running there s no motivation for physical
activity, I m out of shape, and gained weight. My long term goal is to get back into running everyday.
It will put me back into a healthy lifestyle and will make me feel better over all.
If I do not return to running it will affect my physical health by making me gain more weight, and
continue to be out shape. This can make me become lazy. Socially it has affected me because I pushed
the friends I had away that I used to run with. I was ashamed to tell them that I was getting lazy.
Running used to help me clear my mind and allowed me to focus on priorities, but now that I have
stopped, I no longer can fully clear my mind. This is affecting my ability to perform my best in school.
Without running everyday, spiritually I feel like I ve just been going through the motions of life, but
not really living up to my potential. Since I pushed away all my friend who supported my running, I
do not have an environment that is supportive of physical activity. All of these factors are making me
live an unhealthy lifestyle.
If I do return to running I will lose the weight I gained, and be in shape. I would be surrounded with
people who support me living a healthy lifestyle. I would be a lot less stressed and would be thinking
a lot clearer. I will actually be able to remember

Analysis Of The Book Black Mirror
Black Mirror is a Netflix original British science fiction television series that is macabre and uses
science to show that it can be used to have control over people and their lives in the future. This show
wonderfully incorporates race, gender, and sexuality as well as other topics such as ableism and
classism. In this paper, four distinct episodes in the show that represented these themes were explored.
We chose to focus on the episodes Men Against Fire, Fifteen Million Merits, San Junipero, and White

because they were seen as imperfect males; rather, the multiple biological differences that were

treated in this episode: as inferior and only useful as sexual objects. Lastly, Fifteen Million Merits
looks at able bodyism through the existence of the lemons, or the lower class. These people are only
part of the lower class because they are heavy, and are thus unable to keep up with the all day bike

The Texas City disaster took place on April 16th, 1947, with the detonation of 2300 tons of

The ships were loaded with 32.5 % ammonium nitrate fertilizer, which is a high explosive used in
military and mining operations. The result of which was a DDT which is a deflagration to detonation

People cannot control the community they are born into, but through strength and determination,
certain individuals can escape their community and find a place they belong in life. Author of A Small
Place, Jamaica Kincaid, and Didier Eribon, author of Returning to Reims, were born into overlapping
economic difficulties and fought for successful careers as writers and professors during adulthood.
The values, symbols, ideas, experiences, and even places that surrounded both Kincaid and Eribon in
their childhood provided them with the opportunity to control their outcome and the communities they
were apart of throughout their life. From a young age, Eribon felt he was born into the wrong
community because of his homosexuality, value for education, ... Show more content on

If it was not for his homosexuality, however, he would not have realized his shame for his
impoverished childhood. Smothered by his homophobic father, Eribon felt his only option to reform
his life was to abandon his family community and start a nascent life. However, when he lived in
Paris, he found himself shut out of his new community through the means of his social class. Eribon
said, ...once I had arrived in Paris and started meeting people from such different class backgrounds I
would often find myself lying to them about my class origins, or feeling embarrassed when admitting
my background in front of them... (Eribon 25) He finally lived his life openly as a gay man, but his
background of coming from a lower social class kept him from feeling as though he belonged. The
idea of wealth determining who a person can and cannot interact with was an integral part of Eribon s
adolescence. The shame he felt prevented him from feeling comfortable in his new life, and the ties to
his old life interrupted Eribon from being able to completely start over. He wrote after seeing his
grandfather, One day as I was walking in central Paris and he was passing by, he saw me and stopped
at the cub, delighted by this fortuitous meeting. I, on the other hand, was acutely embarrassed, terrified
that someone I knew might see me with him, perched on top of his

Analysis Of Coulomb s Law Defines The Force
Introduction
Coulomb s Law defines the Force acting upon two charged objects relative to their charge that they
hold as well as the distance between them. The interaction between these two charges occur through
non contact which is prevalent over the distance between them. Vectors are most commonly used to
represent the force between two charged points. Being that is a force acting upon these two charged
objects the strength of the interaction between these two charges is a vector quantity (Physics
Classroom, 2015). The direction of these vectors is dependent on the type of charge on these two
points, like charges repel each other therefore they will have a negative force acting upon them, as
they repel each other. Opposite and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The direction of the force is also directed along the same line which joins the to charges together. As
stated before it can either be an attractive or repuslive force dependant on the charges.
This law however can only be used to calculate the force between two point charges, a point charge is
defined as an object that has a constant charge and mass however the charge doesn t contain any size
or extension.
The Van De Graaff generator works by inducing a charge on top of a metal conductive surface, A
rubber belt is passed through two different materials which causes a charge to be produced. There are
small combs at the top of the generator which comb electrons from the belt onto the conductive ball
which spread across the surface producing a net charge of the surface. The top of the Van De Graaff
generator is circular which will act as point charge when the charge has evenly distributed itself across
the surface.
Aim
The aim of this experiment is to determine whether or not the force of attraction between two point
charges is accurately modelled by coulomb s law and that the force of attraction between two point
charges decreases at the rate of 1/r2.
Hypothesis
It is hypothesised that the force of attraction due to the charged grounding ball on the neutral
Styrofoam ball will follow coulomb s law and the force of attraction will decrease inversely

Your Ability To Use Your Short Term Memory When Emotions
Your Ability to Use Your Short Term Memory When Emotions Cloud Judgement: Short Term Memory

When using short term memory a topic or a picture can be forgotten within minutes. Then when an
event that causes a positive or negative emotion occurs that creates dissonance. Short term memory

Long term memory is defined like it sounds long term memory is intended for long term storage of
information over a long term period of time. Despite short term memory, long term memory seems to
decline very little in as time goes on. Your long term memory can store an unlimited amount of
information for an unlimited amount of time (Mastin,2010). Long term memory has three different
memories the procedural memory, semantic, and the episodic memory (McLeod,2010). The
procedural memory is the part of the long term memory where we remember how to do things. The
semantic memory is in charge of store information about the world and finally the episodic memory
store memories about an event. Short term memory can have relationships with negative and positive
emotions. Based on the study by Philipp Spachtholz; working memory can be affected by emotions.
Emotions can be defined using a variety of components such as physiologically and cognitively.
Physiologically, speaking emotions originate in the amygdala; which is located in the limbic system.
The limbic system is in the brain which is enables the brain to learn, house memories and have
emotions. The amygdala is almond shaped structure that helps trigger the physiological reactions that
is associated with emotions (Cherry, 2016). The amygdala is also in charge of imprinting emotions
onto each memory. This occurs by releasing the same neurochemicals that have been produced when

The Learning Disability of Auditory Processing Disorder
Auditory Processing Disorder (APD), also known as central auditory processing disorder (CAPD), is a
neurological defect that affects how the brain processes spoken language. It affects about 5% of school
aged children making it difficult for the child to process verbal instructions or to cancel out
background noise in the classroom. A child who has Auditory Processing Disorder may have the same
kind of behavioral problems as a child who has ADD, and also might be confused with Autism,
Asperger s, Language processing disorder, and Dyslexia. For children who suffer from APD, the
understanding of meanings, sound combination, and the categorical order of words are mistaken.
Behaviors of children who suffer from Auditory Processing Disorder may have trouble listening,
following directions, distracted by background noises, poor organization of verbal material, oral and
written expression problems, remembering what they hear, and learning to read. If parents think that
their child may have APD, they should seek help to an Audiologist. An Audiologist is a doctor who
diagnose and treats hearing and balance problems. They are trained to diagnose, manage and treat
hearing or balance problems for individuals from birth through adulthood. The Audiologist will
perform several tests on the child to determine if the child may have APD or not. There are four types
of tests, Hearing, Neurologic, Behavioral, and Dichotic. The first test will be a simple hearing test to

High Stakes Testing Essay
High Stakes Testing
Albert Einstein once stated, not everything that counts can be counted and not everything that can be
counted counts. High stakes testing attempts to determine the knowledge a person has obtained
throughout grades K 12. These standardized tests are being used to judge a person s ability to graduate
from high school and also judge if a child has enough knowledge to proceed to the next grade level.
Throughout this paper, I will be discussing how these tests do not accurately portray one s
intelligence, how they have increased drop out rates, and also show the damaging psychological
affects they have had.
High stakes testing does not accurately determine a student s intelligence. In 1999, the National ...

This study also stated that, every standardized test has a certain error of measurement which means
that a given score could actually be off by several points in either direction. High stakes, however,
have single scores as the cut off point. Those scores do not account for the inaccuracies that all test
publishers acknowledge (azstandards). There have been many studies in which students take the same
test on different days, and their score varies greatly. High stakes testing does not give any
consideration to these errors.
High stakes testing increases drop out rates. Texas adopted a test much like the AIMS in the 1990 91
school year. TAAS (Texas Assessment of Academic Skills) testing has produced a very astounding
number of minority dropouts. The Arizona Standards study states that there has been a 30% increase
in dropouts among Hispanic and African American students (azstandards). Walt Haney, who wrote an
article on the effects of the TAAS test, claims that, a convergence of evidence indicates that during the
1990 s, slightly less than 70% of students in Texas actually graduated from high school
(http://www.epaa.asu.edu/epaa/v8n41). The Alliance for Childhood organization discussed how, there
is growing evidence that the pressure and anxiety associated with high stakes testing is unhealthy for
children...and may undermine the development of positive social relationships and attitudes towards

The Family Bond Between Bone And Her Mother Dorothy...
Identity is an essential part of the human personality; the first stages of identity development often
form the core and foundation of who a person will become. While there are multitudes of contributing
factors in the formation of identity, such as class, ethnicity, and social norms, familial influence is the
most evidenced factor in Dorothy Allison s Bastard out of Carolina. The core identity of the main
character and narrator of the book, Bone, is largely influenced through the slow breaking of the
maternal bond and the horrid abuse by Daddy Glen.
When Bastard out of Carolina first begins Bone is narrating the story; however, the book is not yet
seen from her viewpoint, but rather from varied perspectives or as a pure narrative. It is not until
chapter two that the point of view becomes Bone s permanently. The reason behind this transition
from various perspectives to Bone s is the maternal bond between Bone and her mother Anney. The
bond between mother and daughter is still at its peak in the first chapter, leading to an extreme lack of
identity in Bone. This utter lack of self prevents the viewpoint from being Bone s until the second
chapter when she first shows signs of becoming an individual.
Bone truly begins her journey towards discovering her identity the moment she starts hanging around
her uncles, and has the thought: Some days I would grind my teeth, wishing I had been born a boy
(23). Her thought may seem simple and unremarkable, but it is in fact the

Essay On Load Shedding
To overcome problem of load shedding and making generating units available at the time of peak load
and when there is shortage for the supply of gas a lot of work has been done before. Different
approach has been used to make maximum gas available to the generators. For that separate modeling
of the gas network has been done [1]. Studies tell us that there are differences between natural gas
transmission system and electrical system. Natural gas is the primary form of energy that we get
straight form gas field whereas electrical energy is a secondary source of energy and is what we get
after we transform energy from primary source. Since natural gas is the primary source we must

2) Hourly generation bids
3) Must on area protection constraints
4) System spinning and operating reserve requirements
5) Minimum up and down time limits
6) Ramp rate limits
7) Startup and shutdown characteristics of units
8) Fuel and multiple emission constraints
9) Transmission flow and bus voltage limits
10) Load shedding and bilateral constraints
11) Limits on state and control variables
12) Scheduled outages
To obtain the optimal solution various method such as dynamic programming, Lagrangian relaxation,
mixed integer programing, and expert system were used. But mainly they worked on dynamic
programming and Lagrangian relaxation and to deal with mixed integers they used mixed integer
programing, Benders decomposition were also used to solve the two stage UC problem. Where after
solving the unit commitment problem for generators when we check for the feasibility of transmission
system and if the transmission system is not feasible then using benders cuts will be generated and this
bender s cut will be added to the master UC problem. To solve a unit commitment problem with AC
constraints it creates a very complex problem which needs lots of method to linearize the system
which lead to an approximate solution.

Analysis Of The Book Secret Life Of Bees
In this world, there will always be that one phase in life when a human face what the major of our
society called as growing up. During that phase, the human will have to face a lot of element. Sue
Monk Kidd s Secret Life of Bees narrates a story of a girl named Lily who develops herself through
others during her journey to find the truth about her mother.
Lily s isolation time in T Ray s house and the death of her mother causes her to yearn for a motherly
figure. The fact that T Ray meanness overwhelms his fatherly figure and the fact that Lily killed
Deborah causes Lily to look for someone or something that can provide her the same affection as a
motherly figure. Thus, every time T Ray becomes mean to Lily, Lily uses her mother s items as a
replacement for a motherly figure. She says, I felt the wooden picture of black Mary underneath my
waistband. I felt the waxed paper with my mother s picture inside and her gloves stuck to my belly,
and it seemed all of a sudden like my mother was there, up against my body, like she was bits and
pieces of insulation molded against my skin, helping me absorb all his meanness (24). Lily s action to
use Deborah s items as a fictional motherly figure shows that she still feels the guilt over what she did
to Deborah. Consequently, Lily is chained to her past. Rosaleen, who has no blood relation to Lily,
shows that everyone can be a mother figure for Lily. In the beginning, when T Ray shows his
meanness to Lily by kneeling her,

Stephen Spielberg s Minority Report
Stephen Spielberg s Minority Report, based off Phillip K. Dick s short story, takes place in the year
2054 and centers around a crime prevention program pilot tested in Washington, D.C. by the pre crime
division of the police force. With crime rates down 90%, the prevention program has proven to be
extremely successful; however, in a world of pre punishment the question remains: is it possible to
treat someone in a certain way because of what they may do in the future, even if it hasn t occurred
yet?
This film begins with three mutant pre cogs with the ability to predict the mindset and actions of
future murderers with 99% accuracy. Occasionally, however, the pre cogs do not all predict the same
outcome, with one pre cog predicting a dissenting future from the other two this discrepancy is

This investigation is spearheaded by Danny Witwer (Colin Farrell) who realizes that this deterministic
approach to crime, negating the offenders free will in the process of committing a crime, is not
necessarily engraved in stone. The head of the Pre Crime department, John Anderton (Tom Cruise),
rolls a ball off a desk which is caught by Witwer before it can fall onto the ground. Anderton asks
Witwer why he caught the ball, to which he responds, Because it would have fallen off the desk.
Anderton retorts that by Witwers logic, there is not definitive proof that the ball would have indeed
rolled off the table despite Witwers prediction. Nevertheless, he asserts that such is the case of the Pre
Crime system which knows beyond reasonable doubt that the would be criminals would become
criminals. Consequentially, the central concern surrounding the plot is that of pre punishment in which
would be criminals are pre punished for crimes which they have yet to commit, but presumable

The Lady Of Shalott Analysis
The 19th century was a time of stagnation. No social reform happened drastically. Women were still
seen as baby machines, granted better educated baby machines than before. Alfred Tennyson saw this
stagnation and found that through the popularity of poetry he was able to comment on the idea that
women are not living creatures on their own and depend on others for survival. Tennyson uses varied
word structure, particularized detail of each character, and an almost chapter like poetic form to
express this dependence through the lady herself. These expressions directly translate to concern for
the stunted 19th century ideology of what and who a woman should be and what could arise if this
stagnation continued to be the norm.

no ability to partake, leading to her growing need and passion for real human companionship.
When The Lady of Shalott looks through her mirror she thinks not of her ability to remedy the
situation and wallows in her suffering while staring at what she believes to be the perfect place better
known as Camelot. Tennyson then juxtaposes his imagery of her tower when illustrating Part II with
colors and depictions of happy people trotting along the road on their way to Camelot. Every other
stanza begins with a line ending in with the word Camelot followed by three lines of description or
action with the last line always ending with Shalott. Never are Camlet and The Lady of Shalott more
than three stanzas away from each other, but never are they any closer. These back to back showcases
along with the constant distance between the lines ending in Camelot and the lines ending with Shalott
allow the reader to understand why the Lady of Shalott is so dependent on these shadows. Tennyson is
using these devices to portray the paradox of keeping women out of society then not understanding
why they are so dependent on others.

How can the simplest forms of binary coding drive humanity to absolute insanity? The notion that
technology can now make your lives worthless should be a clear and present threat that should push
humanity to fix the problem at hand, but we as humans are the most indecisive, naive, and ludicrous
beings that this earth has to offer. If we could fix the problem, why are we so quick to filter out and

This film has affected me as a potential service provider in a couple of different ways. If I were the

Temperature, Temperature And Gas Solubility
Temperature
Temperature is a measurement of the average kinetic energy (or speed) of atoms or molecules (Khan
Academy, 2017). The most typical units of temperature include degrees Celsius (oC), its American
equivalent Fahrenheit (F) or Kelvin (K).
At standard temperature, 0oC corresponds to 273 K. However, 0K is commonly referred to as the
absolute zero degree where all molecular motion would cease.
Temperature and gas solubility:
Generally, increasing temperature would cause a comparable rise in the solubility of liquid and solid
solutes in liquid solvents.
A specific example includes the crystallisation of a concentrated mannitol solution at low temperatures
and the redissolving of those solid crystals as upon heating. However, ... Show more content on

The particles in liquids, on the other hand, although still close within the proximity of one another, are
in random arrangements, having slightly more space to move. As the particles are still held close,
liquids also exhibit high densities. Water, however, is a prominent exception, being different as it is
denser as a liquid than a solid. Upon freezing, the water particles separate slightly, forming crystal
lattices with space between each particle that allow icebergs and ice cubes to stay afloat the water
(BBC, 2017).
Water, nevertheless, is much denser than air as gas particles have considerable space between one and
another. Water molecules, therefore, exert greater pressure on a diver s body as he descend into the
ocean than air particles would on a pilot ascending into the sky. This serves to justify why the change
in pressure is much greater for a given depth in water than for the same rise in air.
Volume
Volume can be defined as the quantity of three dimensional space occupied by a liquid, solid or gas
and is one of the most commonly used measurements worldwide. Several of the most typical unites of
volume include litres, millilitres, cubic metres, cubic centimetres and gallons (Helmenstine, 2017). For
instance, a 10 metre high rectangular tank with a base that is 4 metres in length and 6 metres in width
would be able to hold 10 metres x 4 metres x 6 metres = 240 cubic

Deforestation in the Amazon benefits some people at the moment. It also causes problems for other
people, both in Brazil and the rest of the world.

In Brazil, there is a huge inequality between the rich and the poor 1% of the population owns 45% of
the land. Large areas of the Amazon rainforest have been destroyed as governments have tried to
develop it to make Brazil a better country. Some estimates suggest that a fifth of the Amazon
rainforest was cleared between 1960 and 1990. It is also estimated that approximately 7.5 million
hectares of rainforest are being cut down each year. This is extremely unlikely to be replaced. The
Amazon rainforest is in extreme danger. Developments such as deforestation are proving to be a huge
problem.
Developments that have taken place
Numerous types of developments have taken place in the Amazon rainforest. The aim of this is to
bring wealth to the area by using its natural resources. . A large amount of iron ore, gold, copper,
bauxite and other minerals have been discovered in the rainforest. Mining companies have cut down
trees to get to these deposits. An example of this is the Carajas Iron Ore Project; this is what led to
highway building. A lot of new roads have been built in the rainforest for transport and commuting.
The longest is the Trans Amazonian Highway, a 5300km (3300miles) long road, built across Brazil
from east to west. Other major highways, which were built, are the Belém Brasília Highway (from
Brasília to Belém) and

The Pros And Cons Of Firearm Control
At this current time, a war is being waged; A war over firearms, and the restrictions that should be
placed upon them. This war , more so called a debate, is over the well known topic, firearm control.
Firearm control is a daily topic in the government and a well known topic among the citizens as well
(Dilascio). With many people as well as positions protecting both sides of the debate, People tend to
use repetitively common defense for harsh firearm control as well as help bring the points against
firearm control to light. The two tightly intertwined topics firearm control and firearm violence are hot
debate topics in today s media and government. Since these topics are so prominent in today s society,
it is vital that loose topics that barely relate to defense be brought to light. A lot of citizens are ignorant
to many topics about firearms and how they work, often relying on information gathered from others
instead of information obtained through their own means. Firearm control may reduce overall
violence, but impedes on the Second Amendment and self protection. Firearms are often referred to as
the root of all violence and crime. Although, in particular, it is said that firearms are a leading cause of
biracial violence (French). It is a common defense that firearms cause racial violence and hence
should be put under harsher laws, but this is a misconception. Firearms are not a cause of racial
violence, but instead an effect of it. The existence of firearms did not

School Environment And The Classroom Environment
Do you remember ever as a kid dreading going to school? Somedays you just really didn t feel like it,
but you had to anyway. Now, was it you didn t enjoy school whatsoever, or was it really the
environment they put you in at school? Well, kids today are facing those exact same problems each
day. It s time to get to the bottom of it. The school environment children spend most of their day is a
place many kids across the nation do not enjoy. There are many flaws in today s school environment
that some may not realize. However, many schools tend to blame the kids by telling them they simply
do not want to work and they are acting lazy. Even if there is a small percentage of students where that
really is the case, but for the other ninety percent, that is completely false, and it is crucial we
emphasize that. School environment issues include children being allowed to have their cell phones in
the classroom which is decreases their work time, the excessive amount of homework kids are being
faced with which is causing some kids to cheat and giving them anxiety and stress issues, and the
debate about extending the school which would push back students schedules causing the to get less
sleep, but still having to wake up just as early as before the in the morning. To begin, some students
and teachers are wishing to bring cell phones into the classroom more often. They are becoming rather
eager to have cell phones be the next step in transforming our classrooms into techonology

Social And Economic Development Of Rio De Janeiro
3) The Dashed Hopes of UPP Social (and its counterparts) The overall aim of the UPP is to integrate
the favelas to the larger city (World Bank 2012). Once the community was pacified, the government
could enter and provide goods and services. Therefore, since its origin, the program UPP Social was
subordinated to the UPPs, meaning that only pacified favelas would receive it (Bentsi Enchill,
Goodenough and Berger 2015). In partnership with UN Habitat, UPP Social was meant to accomplish
the following aims: contribute to the consolidation of the peace process and the promotion of local
citizenship in pacified territories; promote urban, social and economic development; carry out the full
integration of these areas into the city (Rio Mais ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This explains why they overwhelmingly support Lula and Dilma Rousseff in the current political and
economic crisis, unlike the rest of the population (Caulyt and Malkes 2016; Favela 247 2016).
However, due to the rising living costs in the pacified favelas (Oosterban and Van Hijk 2015), the
Bolsa Família does not provide a support that would be sufficient to overcome clientelism. Moreover,
the Bolsa Família is often blamed for not giving voice to civil society (Hevia 2011), therefore
participatory policies are generally preferred. Residents Awareness and Participation in the
Elaboration of Projects Residents are overall unaware of the activities undertaken by UPP Social.
They associate it with social events organized by the UPPs. As a consequence, many residents did not
want to take part in the activities, as they associated UPP Social with the police. To overcome the
misunderstandings, the program was renamed Rio + Social in 2014 (Fernandes 2014). However, the
change in name did not improve the services offered, and residents views are not taken into account
when mapping needs of the community. Evidence from interviews showed that few residents could
describe was doing for their community. Indeed, it appears that the program is limited to the
organization of social events. For example, Mirian, Human

The Phaedrus Dialogue
The Phaedrus dialogue is one of the masterpieces of philosophical and artistic prose of Plato. The
work presents a philosophical debate between Socrates and Phaedrus. Socrates, as expressed by Plato,
refutes the false eloquence and proves that the rhetoric should be based on philosophy. In this
dialogue, Plato also argues the meaning of true love, the way it is connected with the soul, and how
the soul can be incorporated into the frame of art and beauty. Phaedrus covers the most significant
aspects of Plato s philosophical teachings about ideas, the mastery of rhetoric, and the practices of
love and art.
The teachings of Plato assert that the objective world as perceived through the human senses cannot
be considered as true. The sensible things are to constant changes, inevitably fading away, and there is
nothing substantial or real about them. These are only the shadows and the images of the actual things.
Plato regards them as ideas, which are the forms of things that cannot be perceived through sense, but
instead through the human mind. In Phaedrus, this approach finds its representation in the expression
of love, friendship, as well as the notions of truth and soul as the components which are essential for
learning the art of rhetoric. Therefore, through Socrates words, Plato states at the beginning of the
dialogue: I am devoted to learning; landscapes and trees have nothing to teach me only the people in
the city can do that (6). Instead of trying to perceive the

Racism In John Updike s Rabbit Run And Rabbit Redwell
John Updike has written many novels. One of his most famous series is called Rabbit Omnibus. John
Updike is known for his famous character in the Rabbit Omnibus books called Harry. John Updike s
books called Rabbit Run and Rabbit Redux shows us racism, theme, and character change.
First, in Rabbit Run and Rabbit Redux we see racism. In Rabbit Redux , it says, Now here s how. You
is a Big Black man sittin right there. You is chained to the chained to that chair. And I is white as snow
(296). This quote in the story shows how they like to play games involving slavery. Racism is a big
issue in both books. Readers can see this throughout the books with the different characters. The quote
is one character talking to the other. Another quote showing racism in Rabbit Redux is I don t follow
this racist rap, you can t turn on television now without black face spitting at you (47). In the book
several times we see Rabbit saying there are too many blacks. The racism is not as bad in Rabbit
Redux as in Rabbit Run . Between the two books, readers can see different sides of John Updike s
writing styles. In one book, he uses harsher words and more racist words than the other book. Both of
these books include elements of racism.
Second, in Rabbit Run and Rabbit Redux we see that the themes are kind of the same. The theme in
both novels involves them struggling with something in their life. In Rabbit Redux the theme is
Freedom. Rabbit wants freedom from his

Renowned American film producer Cecil B. DeMille once said, What I have crossed out I didn t like.
What I haven t crossed out I m dissatisfied with. ( Cecil B. DeMille Quotes. brainyquote.com. Brainy
Quote, n.d. Web. 05 Oct.2012.) This persistent feeling of dissatisfaction is suggested in Christopher
Taggi s 95, in which the protagonist is discontent with his current life condition and keeps driving on
the highway to look for better opportunities. In fact, the author points out that in contemporary society
people are dissatisfied because of their insatiable desire for wanting more. This sad reality is
illustrated by the protagonist s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This suggests that Hank s parents, like many people in modern society, will not find happiness
because they live with insatiable desires and therefore will not get the feeling of satisfaction in their
lives. The characterization of Hank himself also shows how people in the contemporary society
always want more. For example, when Hank woke up from his dream about his socks, he realized that
nothing good or special or wonderful has happened to him. (7) This shows that Frank is idealistic and
has superfluous expectations in life. Also, Hank has a nice girlfriend who cares about him and loves
him, but he still thinks about how he would leave her even though there are no reasons for him to do
so. When his girlfriend asks him if he was happy, he says, Sometimes I am. Mostly, I guess I just feel
like I can t be really happy. Just missing something important. (7) Another passage would be when his
girlfriend asked him if he likes her, he answered: sometimes I like you and maybe I think I even love
you a little. And sometimes I hate you. (7) We can see that Hank is uncertain about his feelings for his
girlfriend and if she is the person that he wants to be with. Those are typical examples of a person who
is not sure about what he wants and believes that there is always something better waiting for him.
The thing that is missing for Hank is simply appreciating what he already possesses. From this
reasoning, it is clear that great

Causes Of Migrant Labor In The Philippines
Introduction Approximately 10 12 million Filipinos work as migrants abroad; the number of people
leaving the country to find work is so high that migration is a regular part of life in the Philippines
(Pardis, 121). Due to deeply embedded structural flows of capital and labor present in
postcolonial/neocolonial economic arrangements, the Philippines depend on migrant labor as a
significant export (Pardis, 123). The combination of neoliberal policies and globalization result in
push and pull forces across portions of societies and national borders that motivate migration in search
of employment or safety, such as increasing poverty and anemic development, causing the Philippines
to rely significantly on migrant labor to strengthen the domestic economy. (Pardis, 143). The heavy
reliance on migrant labor has created, in some instances, a situation of forced migration that renders
potential migrants at risk of being a trafficked person prone to exploitation as cheap labor, bonded
workers, or prostitutes (Saat, 137). Aspirant migrants depend on others to facilitate their movement,
making them susceptible to criminal intentions of those offering work opportunities abroad and
organizing travel requirements (Kempadoo, 74). The logistics of migration (recruitment,
transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of persons) do not constitute trafficking when carried out
formally and the person is fully informed of the conditions of work and understandings of payments
and obligations

How Fats Can Provide Energy For Exercise
Fats can provide energy for exercise, especially when the intensity of the exercise is light and even
moderate. All people need some fat for producing cell membranes, for their skin, hormones
production, and transport of fat soluble vitamins.
The Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Range for fats is between 20% and 35% of the total daily
calories. Other organizations such as the American Heart Association or the National Cholesterol
Education Program have recommended a lower fat percentage. They both recommend a limit of thirty
percent or less for total fats. For Roger, a long distance runner who also does a fair amount of weight
lifting, I would recommend a fat percentage on the lower side of the 20 to 35% range, simply to allow
sufficient calories for carbohydrates (to fuel those long runs) and protein to build up his muscles as he
weight trains. Since Roger needs to consume a higher quantity of calories to avoid an energy deficit
and weight loss, he ll still be consuming substantial fat calories. This will allow him to eat oily fish
such as salmon, which has omega 3 fats, linked to reducing inflammation, which is important for an
older athlete. Just as important as the total quantity of fat, it is essential to minimize the daily amount
of saturated fats, especially hydrogenated / trans fats. For the above reasons, I recommend Roger
consume only 20 to 25 percent of his daily calories from fat. When he is carbo loading before a race
his twice per month long

Eastern And Western Religions Analysis How The Western and Eastern Religions Come Together Most religions around the world are different in a lot of ways, but sometimes they do believe in the same things. Well in the case study name, Atkins or Fadkins by Karen E. Bledsoe, she writes about Mitchell experience when he was on the Fadkins Diet. Mitchell believes the facts about The Fadkins Diet that other people tell him. Yet, he doesn t know what could happen to him if he goes on the diet and eat way too much protein instead of eating carbs too. Based on the statement made in this study clearly shows that Mitchell is misguided. To start off with, Mitchell is on this new diet called The Fadkins Diet . Okay, so I m cheating a little bit. But man, you can t believe the cravings I ve had for bread and cereal and stuff. So I started eating some, and I feel better. What is making Mitchell get headaches is that he has low blood sugar. The human body requires sugar to survive, so the bodies could carry glucose around. Endocrine hormones controls blood sugar by having the pancreas produce insulin (a hormone that helps glucose move the blood into cells for energy useage) and glucagon (that raises the gathering of glucose in the bloodstream). Both these hormones are referred to Pancreatic Endocrine Hormones. The production of insulin and glucagon by pancreatic determines if a person has diabetes and hypoglycemia. The cost of capital is the minimum acceptable rate of return for new investments in the corporation. Estimates of Midland s cost of capital are used in many analysis within Midland, including asset appraisal for both capital budgeting and financial accounting, performance assessments, M A proposals, and stock repurchase decisions. • 5. Analysis Of Lather And Nothing Else It takes a special type of person to not act in accordance with the majority. However, once over the mob mentality people could see things in a different light. In Hernando Tellez s short story Lather and Nothing Else , the protagonist, who is a barber, must have the foresight to make the right call. Two rival political movements are at odds with one another in the setting of the story, 1800 s Latin America. The barber is secretly a rebel and is surprised when a customer of his is Captain Torres, who is a pro government enforcer. Even though they are of rival parties, the barber throughout the short story contemplates whether or not he should murder the man. Ultimately, he decides not to kill the captain because he values his reputation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This ties back to the idea that the decision he made was the right one. The barber has a personal connection with Captain Tellez, a murderer. He watched him hang four of his former comrades after a skirmish between them occurred; the barber further incentive to kill him. However, using foresight and reasoning, he realizes that killing him would be futile as there will be more to take his place. The barber is realizing the futility of the potential aftermath that could follow by killing Tellez. Thinking to himself he says; What is to be gained by it? Nothing. Others and still others keep coming, and the first kill the second...and so on until everything becomes a sea of blood (Tellez 3). In this quotation the protagonist questions his motives. The fleeting nationalism that the rebel movement ensued upon him makes him ponder. However, it is soon followed up by a powerful one worded sentence, Nothing as the barber makes up his mind. Also, the author uses phrases such as others and still others and so on to give us a sense of the futility of the situation. It paints a picture in the reader s mind of the amount of power and people the government has against the rebels. This ties into the main idea that by saving himself and sticking to what he knows, rather than kill Captain Tellez, was a good decision. In conclusion, in Hernando Tellez s short story, Lather and Nothing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Football Dangers In Football How dangerous is football in high school? The issue focused on how often the football players get injured and if high school athletes got injured more than college athletes. Football is a tough sport, but the results of getting injured, sometimes in that sport are so severe, improvements can be made to try and make it a safer sport for all the players high school or college. Multiple athletes give it their all out on the field, but some end up with severe injuries that can affect them for the rest of their lives. The article focuses on some of the ways and precautions that athletes and coaches can do or take to prevent athletes from receiving concussions or worse injuries. This essay discusses, high school football players are very likely to get injured towards ending season more than football college players for various reasons. A research associate said, there are ways to reduce the number and severity of football injuries through targeted intervention. (resource 1) There were high levels of knee and ankle injuries, due to ligament sprains. A way that can help to improve on those types of injuries would be stretching exercises. The positions that run a higher risk of being injured would be the running backs and linebackers. Football is the number one leading cause of sports related injuries. (resource 1) The key aspect discussed, in this sport, there is a difference in high school athletes and college athletes for the simple fact that athletes that are still in high school have brain tissue that has not been fully developed to its full capacity, whereas football players in college are already adults with their brain tissue developed completely. Studies show, concussions are more dangerous for teenagers because their brain tissue is less developed than adults. (resource 2) The gear that football players use should be safer in terms of being in suitable conditions, multiple young players use unsuitable gear that has been passed down long past their prime. (resource 2) If their gear was in suitable conditions, there would be less head injuries occurring to the players specially the high school players because like anything else those helmets are going to become unsafe and less sturdy. It is entirely unique evolution to every individual and continues for the duration of a lifespan. The domains of change include physical, cognitive, social and emotional. This essay will explore my own development from perinatal conception, through to adolescence. Different theorists and concepts will be analysed and discussed in relation to my own development. This can be visualised by comparing me to my siblings, we all grew in the same womb, yet look unique to one another due to biological differences. Infancy and Toddlerhood: During infancy to toddlerhood, between zero and two years old, I developed normally and reached all the milestones of sitting, standing, walking, grasping, and talking. I was breast fed, which positively influenced these developments by providing me with the essential nutrients I needed for growth and development. An infant deprived of adequate nutrients may struggle to reach their physical and cognitive potential as the demands are not been meet and therefore impact negatively upon other aspects of growth (Jacobson, Carter Jacobson, 2014). The act of breast feeding also played a role in my emotional and social development by helping me to form a strong bond of attachment and trust with my mother who held and fed me. Bowlby s attachment theory suggests that children have instinctive need to form attachments. Initially one form of attachment is made to one figure, usually the mother, who acts as a secure foundation for future relationships (Holmes, 2014). I was able to make this bond with my mother, and suggested by Bowlby s theory, this enabled me to make relationships with others. However, as I am a characteristically shy individual, I find making new relationships difficult at times. This could be a contribution to maternal deprivation, but as I have an ... I had what my mother still refers to as a heart for Jesus, and I loved to sing. I sang so loudly and with so much enthusiasm that I was an embarrassment to my incredibly introverted parents and a blessing to the adults around me. I loved church. From belting Father Abraham to watching Gospel Bill videos to coloring pictures of David and Goliath, it was endless fun. It further seeks to control its members and every aspect of their lives. The church wants carbon copies of sin free, squeaky clean, productive citizens. Mormans are expected to spend two years of their lives volunteering as missionaries ( Oxtoby 319 ). The Catholic religion uses guilt to get its members to abstain from the use of birth control ( Oxtoby 329 ). The Catholic Church also tries to increase church attendance by making it a mortal sin to not attend church. Many Christian religions try to get their young people to remain innocent and pure by teaching them that sex is a dirty and sinful act outside of marriage. Baptists are taught to feel guilty about dancing, and Jews are forbidden from even touching ham or pork ( Oxtoby 75 ). Whether the church needs money, mass numbers of people, or specific behaviors from its followers, it can always be sure to achieve the desired results with a little bit of good old fashioned guilt. One of the things that bothers me the most about religion is that it is extremely judgmental. Although they throw around phrases like, hate the sin, not the sinner, the actions of religious people speak louder than their words. I was told since I was born that anyone who did not accept Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior would go to hell. The Church ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In order to achieve success, one must face a path of obstacles and make sacrifices along the way. Sacrifice is the act of giving up something that one values in order to accomplish something greater. Throughout the play Macbeth, written by Shakespeare, and The Social Network, directed by David Flincher, the characters encounter circumstances that ignite their ambition. It is this ambition that paves their way to success, however, not without consequences. Yet, what ultimately decides if one s sacrifice is worth it in the end? He s a long haired cat so we get him shaved every summer so he does not get unbearably hot. This year was slightly different, though. Along with getting him shaved, we were getting some potential tumors checked to see if they were cancerous, and get them removed. Although I was nervous about the tumors, I did not think much of it because nobody expects their cat to have cancer. The car ride to the vet was just like every other time, except the traffic was heavier than usual that morning. It was around 7 o clock in the morning. It was a sunny day, probably around 80 degrees. My mom and I were carrying on small talk, and we had the radio playing quietly for background noise in hope of it calming Tux down. My mom thought it was annoying how much Tux talks in the car, but I find it very humorous. He never talks more than he does when he goes on car rides. We finally arrived at the vet clinic, after what seemed to be such a long car ride between Tux crying and all the traffic along the way. I picked the heavy cage up off my lap that held Tux inside of it. My mom went over to the receptionist to her know that we had arrived, but Tux and I went to go sit down in the waiting area. Analysis Of Coulomb s Law Defines The Force Introduction Coulomb s Law defines the Force acting upon two charged objects relative to their charge that they hold as well as the distance between them. The interaction between these two charges occur through non contact which is prevalent over the distance between them. Vectors are most commonly used to represent the force between two charged points. Being that is a force acting upon these two charged objects the strength of the interaction between these two charges is a vector quantity (Physics Classroom, 2015). The direction of these vectors is dependent on the type of charge on these two points, like charges repel each other therefore they will have a negative force acting upon them, as they repel each other. Opposite and a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The direction of the force is also directed along the same line which joins the to charges together. As stated before it can either be an attractive or repuslive force dependant on the charges. This law however can only be used to calculate the force between two point charges, a point charge is defined as an object that has a constant charge and mass however the charge doesn t contain any size or extension. The Van De Graaff generator works by inducing a charge on top of a metal conductive surface, A rubber belt is passed through two different materials which causes a charge to be produced. There are small combs at the top of the generator which comb electrons from the belt onto the conductive ball which spread across the surface producing a net charge of the surface. The top of the Van De Graaff generator is circular which will act as point charge when the charge has evenly distributed itself across the surface. Aim The aim of this experiment is to determine whether or not the force of attraction between two point charges is accurately modelled by coulomb s law and that the force of attraction between two point charges decreases at the rate of 1/r2. A child who has Auditory Processing Disorder may have the same kind of behavioral problems as a child who has ADD, and also might be confused with Autism, Asperger s, Language processing disorder, and Dyslexia. Identity is an essential part of the human personality; the first stages of identity development often form the core and foundation of who a person will become. While there are multitudes of contributing factors in the formation of identity, such as class, ethnicity, and social norms, familial influence is the most evidenced factor in Dorothy Allison s Bastard out of Carolina. The core identity of the main character and narrator of the book, Bone, is largely influenced through the slow breaking of the maternal bond and the horrid abuse by Daddy Glen. When Bastard out of Carolina first begins Bone is narrating the story; however, the book is not yet seen from her viewpoint, but rather from varied perspectives or as a pure narrative. It is not until chapter two that the point of view becomes Bone s permanently. The reason behind this transition from various perspectives to Bone s is the maternal bond between Bone and her mother Anney. The bond between mother and daughter is still at its peak in the first chapter, leading to an extreme lack of identity in Bone. This utter lack of self prevents the viewpoint from being Bone s until the second chapter when she first shows signs of becoming an individual. Tennyson uses varied word structure, particularized detail of each character, and an almost chapter like poetic form to express this dependence through the lady herself. The particles in liquids, on the other hand, although still close within the proximity of one another, are in random arrangements, having slightly more space to move. As the particles are still held close, liquids also exhibit high densities. Water, however, is a prominent exception, being different as it is denser as a liquid than a solid. Upon freezing, the water particles separate slightly, forming crystal lattices with space between each particle that allow icebergs and ice cubes to stay afloat the water (BBC, 2017). Water, nevertheless, is much denser than air as gas particles have considerable space between one and another. Water molecules, therefore, exert greater pressure on a diver s body as he descend into the ocean than air particles would on a pilot ascending into the sky. This serves to justify why the change in pressure is much greater for a given depth in water than for the same rise in air. Volume Volume can be defined as the quantity of three dimensional space occupied by a liquid, solid or gas and is one of the most commonly used measurements worldwide. Several of the most typical unites of volume include litres, millilitres, cubic metres, cubic centimetres and gallons (Helmenstine, 2017). For instance, a 10 metre high rectangular tank with a base that is 4 metres in length and 6 metres in width would be able to hold 10 metres x 4 metres x 6 metres = 240 cubic ... The aim of this is to bring wealth to the area by using its natural resources. . A large amount of iron ore, gold, copper, bauxite and other minerals have been discovered in the rainforest. Mining companies have cut down trees to get to these deposits. An example of this is the Carajas Iron Ore Project; this is what led to highway building. A lot of new roads have been built in the rainforest for transport and commuting. The longest is the Trans Amazonian Highway, a 5300km (3300miles) long road, built across Brazil from east to west. The two tightly intertwined topics firearm control and firearm violence are hot debate topics in today s media and government. Since these topics are so prominent in today s society, it is vital that loose topics that barely relate to defense be brought to light. • 40. School Environment And The Classroom Environment Do you remember ever as a kid dreading going to school? Somedays you just really didn t feel like it, but you had to anyway. Now, was it you didn t enjoy school whatsoever, or was it really the environment they put you in at school? Well, kids today are facing those exact same problems each day. It s time to get to the bottom of it. The school environment children spend most of their day is a place many kids across the nation do not enjoy. There are many flaws in today s school environment that some may not realize. However, many schools tend to blame the kids by telling them they simply do not want to work and they are acting lazy. Even if there is a small percentage of students where that really is the case, but for the other ninety percent, that is completely false, and it is crucial we emphasize that. School environment issues include children being allowed to have their cell phones in the classroom which is decreases their work time, the excessive amount of homework kids are being faced with which is causing some kids to cheat and giving them anxiety and stress issues, and the debate about extending the school which would push back students schedules causing the to get less sleep, but still having to wake up just as early as before the in the morning. To begin, some students and teachers are wishing to bring cell phones into the classroom more often. • 42. Social And Economic Development Of Rio De Janeiro 3) The Dashed Hopes of UPP Social (and its counterparts) The overall aim of the UPP is to integrate the favelas to the larger city (World Bank 2012). Once the community was pacified, the government could enter and provide goods and services. Therefore, since its origin, the program UPP Social was subordinated to the UPPs, meaning that only pacified favelas would receive it (Bentsi Enchill, Goodenough and Berger 2015). In partnership with UN Habitat, UPP Social was meant to accomplish the following aims: contribute to the consolidation of the peace process and the promotion of local citizenship in pacified territories; promote urban, social and economic development; carry out the full integration of these areas into the city (Rio Mais ... However, due to the rising living costs in the pacified favelas (Oosterban and Van Hijk 2015), the Bolsa Família does not provide a support that would be sufficient to overcome clientelism. Moreover, the Bolsa Família is often blamed for not giving voice to civil society (Hevia 2011), therefore participatory policies are generally preferred. Residents Awareness and Participation in the Elaboration of Projects Residents are overall unaware of the activities undertaken by UPP Social. They associate it with social events organized by the UPPs. As a consequence, many residents did not want to take part in the activities, as they associated UPP Social with the police. To overcome the misunderstandings, the program was renamed Rio + Social in 2014 (Fernandes 2014). However, the change in name did not improve the services offered, and residents views are not taken into account when mapping needs of the community. Evidence from interviews showed that few residents could describe was doing for their community. Indeed, it appears that the program is limited to the organization of social events. • 43. The Phaedrus Dialogue The Phaedrus dialogue is one of the masterpieces of philosophical and artistic prose of Plato. The work presents a philosophical debate between Socrates and Phaedrus. Socrates, as expressed by Plato, refutes the false eloquence and proves that the rhetoric should be based on philosophy. In this dialogue, Plato also argues the meaning of true love, the way it is connected with the soul, and how the soul can be incorporated into the frame of art and beauty. Phaedrus covers the most significant aspects of Plato s philosophical teachings about ideas, the mastery of rhetoric, and the practices of love and art. The teachings of Plato assert that the objective world as perceived through the human senses cannot be considered as true. The sensible things are to constant changes, inevitably fading away, and there is nothing substantial or real about them. These are only the shadows and the images of the actual things. Plato regards them as ideas, which are the forms of things that cannot be perceived through sense, but instead through the human mind. In Phaedrus, this approach finds its representation in the expression of love, friendship, as well as the notions of truth and soul as the components which are essential for learning the art of rhetoric. Therefore, through Socrates words, Plato states at the beginning of the dialogue: I am devoted to learning; landscapes and trees have nothing to teach me only the people in the city can do that (6). Between the two books, readers can see different sides of John Updike s writing styles. In one book, he uses harsher words and more racist words than the other book. This persistent feeling of dissatisfaction is suggested in Christopher Taggi s 95, in which the protagonist is discontent with his current life condition and keeps driving on the highway to look for better opportunities. In fact, the author points out that in contemporary society people are dissatisfied because of their insatiable desire for wanting more. This sad reality is illustrated by the protagonist s ... This suggests that Hank s parents, like many people in modern society, will not find happiness because they live with insatiable desires and therefore will not get the feeling of satisfaction in their lives. The characterization of Hank himself also shows how people in the contemporary society always want more. For example, when Hank woke up from his dream about his socks, he realized that nothing good or special or wonderful has happened to him. (7) This shows that Frank is idealistic and has superfluous expectations in life. Also, Hank has a nice girlfriend who cares about him and loves him, but he still thinks about how he would leave her even though there are no reasons for him to do so. When his girlfriend asks him if he was happy, he says, Sometimes I am. Mostly, I guess I just feel like I can t be really happy. Just missing something important. (7) Another passage would be when his girlfriend asked him if he likes her, he answered: sometimes I like you and maybe I think I even love you a little. And sometimes I hate you. (7) We can see that Hank is uncertain about his feelings for his girlfriend and if she is the person that he wants to be with. Those are typical examples of a person who is not sure about what he wants and believes that there is always something better waiting for him. The thing that is missing for Hank is simply appreciating what he already possesses. From this reasoning, it is clear that great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Causes Of Migrant Labor In The Philippines Introduction Approximately 10 12 million Filipinos work as migrants abroad; the number of people leaving the country to find work is so high that migration is a regular part of life in the Philippines (Pardis, 121). Due to deeply embedded structural flows of capital and labor present in postcolonial/neocolonial economic arrangements, the Philippines depend on migrant labor as a significant export (Pardis, 123). The combination of neoliberal policies and globalization result in push and pull forces across portions of societies and national borders that motivate migration in search of employment or safety, such as increasing poverty and anemic development, causing the Philippines to rely significantly on migrant labor to strengthen the domestic economy. (Pardis, 143). The heavy reliance on migrant labor has created, in some instances, a situation of forced migration that renders potential migrants at risk of being a trafficked person prone to exploitation as cheap labor, bonded workers, or prostitutes (Saat, 137). Aspirant migrants depend on others to facilitate their movement, making them susceptible to criminal intentions of those offering work opportunities abroad and organizing travel requirements (Kempadoo, 74). The logistics of migration (recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of persons) do not constitute trafficking when carried out formally and the person is fully informed of the conditions of work and understandings of payments and obligations ... • 47. How Fats Can Provide Energy For Exercise Fats can provide energy for exercise, especially when the intensity of the exercise is light and even moderate. All people need some fat for producing cell membranes, for their skin, hormones production, and transport of fat soluble vitamins. The Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Range for fats is between 20% and 35% of the total daily calories. Other organizations such as the American Heart Association or the National Cholesterol Education Program have recommended a lower fat percentage. They both recommend a limit of thirty percent or less for total fats. For Roger, a long distance runner who also does a fair amount of weight lifting, I would recommend a fat percentage on the lower side of the 20 to 35% range, simply to allow sufficient calories for carbohydrates (to fuel those long runs) and protein to build up his muscles as he weight trains. Since Roger needs to consume a higher quantity of calories to avoid an energy deficit and weight loss, he ll still be consuming substantial fat calories. This will allow him to eat oily fish such as salmon, which has omega 3 fats, linked to reducing inflammation, which is important for an older athlete. Just as important as the total quantity of fat, it is essential to minimize the daily amount of saturated fats, especially hydrogenated / trans fats. For the above reasons, I recommend Roger consume only 20 to 25 percent of his daily calories from fat. When he is carbo loading before a race his twice per month long ...
