Angela Carter
How does Carter present the experience of the girl in The Bloody Chamber? Carter has directed the
narrative mostly, although not completely, from the older woman in the text, speaking back on the past
(therefore past tense) as a first person narrative. There is interjections of dialogue throughout the text,
although it is mostly constructed as a written text, as if the older women is writing in a diary, but has
interjections of dialogue, possibly showing her memory traveling back and replaying moments. This is
shown via the narrator speaking as if she remembers them, and then refers to them, such as: And, ah!
His castle , And surrounded by so many mirrors! These interjections break up the text, and give it

The reference to Red Riding Hood with the line, All the better to see you implies the beastial ferosiaty
that the Marquis grows in the latter stages of the story. Biblical allusions are also present in the story,
with the unfading mark the Marquis creates upon the protagonist s head being described as the mark
of Cain (an evil mark) Other hints towards the climax of the bloody chamber appear in the mention of
Saint Cecilia ( an early Flemish primitive of Saint Cecilia at her celestial organ , although I looked at
the picture of Saint Cecilia with a faint dread; what had been the nature of her martyrdom? ), who is a
saint of the catholic church who was beheaded, with the red choker necklace implementing this: like
an extraordinary precious slit throat . There is use of a list of three that is heavily alluding to the
protagonists experiences throughout the story told, starting with her loss of virginity, then the incident
regards the keys the Marquis trusted her with, following by her betrayal of her husband: The
Initiation, The Key of Mysteries, The Secret of Pandora s Box . A recurring theme in all the tales of
the Carter anthology is transformation, and this topic is central to The Bloody Chamber. In the second
paragraph of the story, the first transformation of the girl ceasing to be her [mother s] child in

Gothic Elements In Turn Of The Screw, And The Other
Gothic Literature is a form of literature that represents the supernatural or unknown elements found in
many literary pieces. Gothic Elements consist of dark atmospheres, the supernatural, uncanny figures,
damsel in distress, physiological breakdown, and many other elements. Elements of gothic literature
are usually not used in a literal sense; authors usually use metaphors to get the aspect of gothic
literature across to the audience. Elements of gothic literature are presented throughout the book Turn
of the Screw, by Henry James, and the film The Others , by Alejandro Amenábar. The Others was
actually based off of the book Turn of the Screw. Both have many similarities in their display of
elements of gothic literature. The book The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within both literary works the element of the damsel in distress is strongly presented to create a gothic
literature. In The Turn of the Screw, the governess plays the role by displaying her ongoing battle with
the ghosts over the safety of the children. Within her first couple of days at the house, she is already
seeing the ghosts of the old governess, Miss Jessel and the butler, Peter Quint. In the book, the
governess constantly tells about her concern that the children are in danger. In the book, James writes,
Dear little Miles, dear little Miles, if you knew how I want to help you! It s only that, it s nothing but
that, and I d rather die than give you a pain or do you a wrong ; this shows the governesses helpless
obsession with trying to keep the children safe (108). In this conversation with Miles, the governess is
trying to get him to tell her Quint blew out the candles but Miles replies that it was him (James 108).
This leads her to become distressed over her inability to protect the children from the ghosts. Thus,
she is playing the role of a damsel in distress, whom needs the assistance of someone else to help her

Factors That Regulate Expression Of Stress Responsive...
Science I Term Paper
The research paper that this term paper is based on is Interactions Among Plant Transcription Factors
Regulating Expression of Stress responsive Genes, Sony Malhotra and R. Sowdhamini, National
Center for Biological Sciences, June 2014, Bioinformatics and Biology Insights.
Abstract:
Plants are known to respond to abiotic stress by up or down regulating their genes. This is done by
activating transcription factors. It is known that these transcription factors, though they have DNA
binding domains, interact amongst each other for the regulation of gene production. In order to find
out which transcription factors interact and how, the research uses genetic and molecular structure
information available in databases and computationally analyses the data. The factors that lead to the
conclusion of interaction between transcription factors includes spatial proximity and possible
interaction poses. Molecular docking is used to predict the interaction poses and DockScore is a
scoring system used to rank the interaction poses.
Introduction:
Plants are immobile and therefore need mechanisms to counteract stresses that they face from their
environment. Cold, high light, drought, salinity, abscisic acid, rehydration and combination of stresses
like cold drought salt stress are common abiotic stresses that plants encounter. In order to deal with
these stresses, plants either up regulate or down regulate their genes; that is, they increase the
production of

The title Courts quietly confirm MMR Vaccine causes Autism instantly addresses a conflicting idea as
it shows that the government is attempting to hide the risks of vaccinations Within this article, the

terms of his small sample size of twelve children. (SARAH Collaboration, n.d). This piece of grey
literature used the large study conducted in Denmark involving 537,303 children, that found
unvaccinated children were just as likely to develop autism as vaccinated children. (SARAH
Collaboration, n.d). A similar stance was displayed in the peer reviewed article, however within this
article a meta analysis was conducted by three independent scientists therefore causing less bias to be
present. Eslick, Taylor and Swerdfeger found through their review of five cohort studies that there is
no evidence of a relationship between vaccination and autism... (Taylor, 2014, p.3628). Although both
sources suggest similar ideas and the same stance on this controversial topic their credibility differs.
The SARAH Collaboration is made up of a team of health professionals advocating for children s
health, hence being all for vaccinations. This could present bias as displayed when viewing the small
amount of references noted therefore showing superficial research. (SARAH Collabortaion, n.d).

Ethnic Structure In Saudi Arabia
Introduction Saudi Arabia is a country in the Middle East. In Saudi Arabia, there are currently 32.5
million people living there. (Commisceo Global, retrieved 2017) This country is ruled by King
Salman and is border by Jordan and Iraq.
Class Structure The ethnic structure in Saudi Arabia is, according to Commisceo Global (Retrieved
2017), 90 percent Arab and 10 percent Afro Asian. Saudi Arabia has four different social standings.
First comes the Saudis, they are at the top of the hierarchy; second are the Arabs; next are the
European expatriates; and last are the Asian expatriate. The Asian expatriate focus a lot on manual
labor.
Throughout Saudi Arabia, there are small divisions that are based on who you are affiliated with and
where you live. For an example, according to Commisceo Global (Retrieved 2017), tribal affiliations,
(Sunni/Shia), location (rural vs urban) and levels of education. Therefore, if people in Saudi Arabia
have connections with the higher power, the rich, the king, you become more powerful than others.
Economic Institution
Saudia Arabia is the largest producer and exporter of petroleum products. (Economy Watch, Retrieved
2017) Petroleum products include many different things: fuels, asphalt and road oil, and feedstocks,
which are like plastics and other things that we use in our daily life s. (EIA, Retrieved 2017)
In Saudi Arabia, they have Holy Day every Friday. This is like North America s Sunday, where
everyone goes to church, but it is Friday.

The Executive Branch Of Government
The Executive Branch and the Presidents The Executive Branch is the branch of government that
enacts and enforces the law. The head of the Executive Branch is the President of the United States.
The President of the United States has seven roles that he must fill as President. These roles are the
Chief of State, Chief Executive, Commander in Chief, Legislative leader, Chief of Party, Guardian of
economy and Chief Diplomat. In these roles, the President awards metals to college scholarship
winners, makes a patriotic speech on the Fourth of July and enforces the law. Furthermore, the
President chooses officials, writes the speeches for Ambassadors who are traveling to foreign
countries, creates foreign policies, controls the Armed Forces, Finally, the President influences

like the Legislative and Judicial branches, has many checks and balances to ensure the balance of
power within the branches of government. The Executive Branch can declare Executive orders,
proclamations that are treated like laws; however, the judicial branch can declare these proclamations

The Hidden Curriculum In Education

Hidden Curriculum essay
This essay will explain what the Hidden Curriculum is and its implications on issues in the South
African system. The essay will also reflect my understanding of the concept hidden curriculum. I will
also explain the different levels in the educational system. The second section of the essay I will focus
on what I have identified as the hidden curriculum during my teaching practice experience. In my
conclusion I will address the hidden curriculum in order to redress the concern I have identified.
The hidden curriculum is lessons that we as educators teach informally or unintentionally at school.
Learners will learn unintended values, beliefs, behaviours and norms in the classroom and the social
learning environment (Department of Educational Studies, 2015). They may learn how to interact with
other learners for example debates and class discussions and group work. Hidden curriculum will
initially begin at a young age for learners. In primary school they will be taught how to greet an
educator and to say please and thank you (Department of Educational Studies, 2015). We can basically

During my classroom observations it was clear that parents are transferring a lot of the blame or
responsibility to the schools and educators. Educators had to teach the learners to greet and respect
other learners. The principal also made use of the hidden curriculum by telling educators to see that
the learners are in class during periods and to speak to learners that are a problem. Another example
that I saw during my teaching experience was that if learners got good grades and turn in their
homework on time or even listen to the educator during the class they were rewarded. By doing this
the educator taught the learners how to behave as well as to take pride in their

Speech On Birds In Peril
Birds in Peril
Eleven species of animals have gone extinct over the past two centuries. To many people, this
statement would not shock them. They will just see it as a statistic. Many others though; would want
to do something to stop this from happening. Problems include natural disasters, homes being taken
away or destroyed, hunted for their feathers or the fur that they provide; There are many factors as to
why these animals disappear but people are the number one cause as to why animals decline so rapidly
in numbers.
Many people know there are people who don t give a rip about animals, and there are some that are in
between, and others that absolutely love animals. The problem here are the people that do not like
animals at all. Trees are cut down, pollution thrown wherever, and not even once do they think about
the animals that occupy these essentials. They do not think about the river that the animals need to
drink out of. They do not think of the birds that live in the trees, or other animals that look to them as a
food source.
The thing is, these animals know when their habitat is not suitable to live in. These birds called raptors
which means carry away in Latin; know when their habitat isn t suitable, which then gives a sign to
other animals to find another place. These birds of prey are in constant threat of being killed, whether
it be by pollution, their homes being taken away or they are shot down in fear of them killing the farm
animals farm owners provide.

Teaching Assistant Report
The fascination and interest in text can be kept up with daily reading sessions. This will spark their
interest in decoding words. The teaching assistant will help with these skills including reminding the
child or their alphabet and phonic sounds to assist with decoding. Modelling is a key supporting
method for learning literacy both with speaking and writing words. In reading to children, the teaching
assistant will be showing them how to read fluently and how their voice can help make sense of the
text being read. Hearing modelled reading can lead to an increased interest in reading, an
improvement in vocabulary and more knowledge of the world around them. It is important for
children to read regularly, if not daily. This may be within the school ... Show more content on

Differentiation can be guided by a teaching assistant. The teacher will plan guided reading sessions
where the children are divided into their appropriate reading abilities. During the week, each group
will rotate with the teacher ensuring that the teacher is able to help improve their fluency and
investigation through reading instruction at their own reading levels. In turn, the teaching assistant
will give reading instruction to a separate group who will be working towards questioning the text
they are reading through comprehension. During these sessions, there will be emphasis on speaking
and listening together, and reading and writing together. These sessions also allow additional groups to
work independently, reading at their own specific level. The roles of the teacher and teaching assistant
in this area are interchangeable and dependent on the teacher’s planning. There are other strategies
that assist in this area including repetition and feedback, and

Comparing Two Speeches In Julius Caesar
Speech is power: speech is to persuade, to convert, to compel. Ralph Waldo Emerson. In the play
Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, there are two instances of speeches that persuade, convert, and
compel the audiences. Both of the speakers had beliefs that were polar opposites, and both speeches
brought forth many emotions and convictions that drove the crowd to nearly killing others. The first of
the speeches, given by Brutus, was intended to compel the audience to believe that killing Julius
Caesar was a good thing for Rome. This drove the crowd crazy, and they were all on the same boat as
him, until Mark Antony comes along. Antony talks to the crowd and controls them in such a way, that

He first defends Brutus, For Brutus is an honorable man. (3.2.83) As he tells the crowd how honorable
and noble Brutus was, he also manages to twist Brutus s own words against him. He quotes Brutus
calling Caesar ambitious, and he gives multiple examples of how Caesar, in fact, wasn t ambitious,
When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept; Ambition should be made of sterner stuff. (3.2.92
93) And another one, I thrice presented him a kingly crown, Which he did thrice refuse. Was this
ambition? Yet Brutus says he was ambitious... (3.2.97 99) Antony is discrediting Brutus, and starting
an uprising against him. Not surprisingly, there is one last straw that Antony presented to the crowd,
Caesar s own will. Antony first tells the crowd how he found it in a closet, I found it in his closet; tis
his will. (3.2.130) And as the plebeians holler at Antony demanding him to read the will, he adamantly
refuses to read the will multiple times, thus creating a large force of momentum. Soon after, Antony
starts rattling off tales and regrets about Caesar, that eventually the Plebeians are roused up into a
bloodlust and are ready to murder all of the conspirators. Finally, Antony reads out the will to the
audience, To every Roman citizen he gives, to every several man, seventy five drachmas. (3.3.242

Analysis Of The Book The On Mortal Kombat By Kevin Wilson
In the stories that author Kevin Wilson wrote in Tunneling to the Center of the Earth, several
characters are ruled by fear. The fear that these characters have eventually winded up having a
solution or solve that helps resolve their fears. Fear is defined as: a feeling of agitation or anxiety
caused by the presence or imminence of danger. An example of fear in one of the stories is Leonard in
Blowing up on the Spot, because he fears death and it controls and restricts his life. Towards the end
of that story, Leonard finds his resolve of having that fear. The type of things that can lead to
resolutions of fear is epiphanies. In his short story, Mortal Kombat to boys was facing a fear like no
other. In his short story called Mortal Kombat the boys Scotty and Wynn are best friends and they both
have this fear of accepting they are falling for one another. In Kevin Wilsons short story, Mortal
Kombat the narrator says, It is simple and awkward at the same time, the way they proceed. There is
only the quickness of movement, the instinctive responses of the body. It feels like fighting; that is
what runs through both of their minds. It lasts all of two minutes, maybe less. (76). The kiss made
them realize they are maybe attracted to eachother and their feelings couldn t fight what they were
feeling anymore. This fear that each of them show towards the situation puts a restriction on their life
for awhile. The thoughts that are going thru scotty head while he is raking

Uncertainty As A Necessary Property Of The Universe
Uncertainty as a Necessary Property of the Universe
There is a value in being uncertain about certainty; the value is seen in stress reduction, both in
science/professional life as well as in day to day mundane life. The value also exists in the
perpetuation or the drive for innovation. The common knee jerk reaction to a presentation of
uncertainty is to hold fear or contempt, but after some more careful consideration, uncertainty appears
to be very important in nature. There are even ways to capitalize, or exploit, uncertainty for benefit.
In science or professional life, embracing uncertainty allows for loosened restrictions on modeling
(not to be confused with gross negligence; not referring to introduced uncertainties), higher level
induction via empirically determined boundary conditions, and boons in funding for research. The
mathematical model only needs to apply to a specific set of conditions. As a scientist, you need not
focus on a general model that accounts for all variables. Stresses involved when pressed for resources
are then reduced because the focus can be deliberately placed on only the variables you are exploring,
or validity of the model needs to be only with a specific set of conditions. The final model can yield
nonsense acceptably when used outside the intended conditions. Additionally, boundary conditions
can be identified leading to general evolution of systems. Sometimes boundary conditions lead you to
the relative stabilities of sets of solutions

Evaluation Of The And Emotional Development
Throughout the assessments, I found Julia to be average or superior to developmental milestones for
children her age. To assure all areas were observed, I allowed a week to monitor the assessment data
for two checklists. I observed social and emotional development over a three day span to allow for
situational stimuli and behavior adjustments from a quick trip to visit her paternal grandparents.
Finally, to pull all my information together, I completed a time sampling assessment to observe
actions during free play. This time sampling focused on general intellectual behaviors which may
indicate a level of giftedness in comparison with other children her age. With all the observations
completed, I have analyzed each of the assessment work sheets. Observation of Julia s gross motor
skills in relationship to abilities of children 3 5 years was completed using a checklist. The checklist
indicated whether or not a specific skill was observed during the week of observation. This check list
indicates Julia is on target developmentally. Because she is athletic and likes to play physically, her
gross motor skills are strong. Using the checklist to determine areas in which ... additional support and
help (Bentzen, 2009, p. 8) is needed, attention should focus on balance and strength. Using balance
skills would produce the greatest qualifiers in her development. To do this, Julia may be taught to

Inaccuracy In Genetic Testing
Although researchers and scientists always aim to develop further beneficial advancements, some of
them might be as harmful and still controversial as they are supposed to be beneficial. Genetic
technologies are advancing at a very high rate. For example, genetic testing is widely available
nowadays. It is a test that identifies whether an individual is carrying the gene for a specific disease or
disorder. Through genetic testing, parents can be provided with genetic information about the health of
the fetus by simply taking a blood sample and testing it. However, implications arise as genetic
technology is not very accurate. Although a positive result indicates a higher possibility of carrying
the disease or disorder and a negative result indicates a lower possibility, there is always that other
possibility of a false result (Women s Health Care Physicians). Inaccuracy in genetic testing causes a
controversial question on whether individuals should risk the choices by trusting and basing their life
on nothing but expected results. Even more concern is caused due to rejections of going through
genetic testing and consequently, a possibility of giving birth to a defected baby and not taking benefit
of the technology. Many agree that not taking a genetic test avoids a lot of the emotional issues and
stress that could arise with the results. Others believe that this technology should play a major part of
everyone s life as it allows individuals to be more aware of the

this time.

Coco Chanel created a fashion that began to grow rapidly in the 1920 s. She created suits and dresses
for women and they became very popular and still are today. Another person that impacted design in
the 1920 s was Thomas W. Lamb. He was known as a famous theater and cinema designer. For
example, Thomas W. Lamb was known for designing hundreds of theaters and later known as the king
of theaters (Gray). Thomas helped to design movie theaters and this sparked an impact on the 20th
century. Many people enjoyed and took advantage of how much of an impact people, like Coco and
Thomas, had on the 1920 s. If it wasn t for people like them, we wouldn t have movie theaters and a
cute fashion for women today.

Among many other things, art began to flourish and change during this era. One 1920 s décor critic
stated, The Art Deco Movement influenced the way that buildings were erected and clothes were made
(Modras). Art was such a major aspect during the 1920 s that it changed the way architects were
expected to design buildings. This created a new perspective on the way houses and major buildings
were looked at. In fact, these buildings were no longer just used for practical purposes but were now
created to be pleasing to the eye. In addition, in The Great Gatsby Nick notes, Gatsby s house is also a
very lavish building (Fitzgerald 14). Gatsby s

An Alternative Therapy For Cerebral Palsy
We decided to research suit therapy in the context of cerebral palsy. Suit therapy is a system of rubber
bands, hooks, and rings that connect a vest, shorts, kneepads, and specially connected shoes
(McMahon, Pruitt Vargus Adams, 2009). There is bungee like cords that continue to tighten and adjust
in order to mimic normal flexor and extensor patterns of major muscle groups in an attempt to correct
abnormal alignment (McMahon, Pruitt Vargus Adams, 2009). Wearing the suit along with intensive
physical therapy, and active motor participation by the patient for a certain amount of time and
frequency is meant to retrain normal muscle movement and improve sensory and proprioceptive
information in the brain (McMahon, Pruitt Vargus Adams, 2009). Suit therapy has been emerging as
an alternative therapy for cerebral palsy. We are researching whether or not suit therapy treats both
implications cerebral palsy has on the body, the brain and muscles. While suit therapy seems like a
great idea in theory, we are looking for proof that it has worked on patients that have gone through
clinical trials or experiments with it and that it will be an accessible therapy able to reach the
population. There are many studies done where subjects have received suit therapy either by itself,
with other intensive physical therapy, and comparing results of suit therapy to results of other types of
therapy that are established as being used for cerebral palsy. There are many articles about cerebral

Blood pressure may fall further on standing, particularly if autonomic neuropathy is present.
Hypertension is unusual, and in patients with a history of hypertension, spontaneous resolution of
hypertension over the preceding few months is common. Pulmonary exam reveals bilateral pleural
effusions, but rales are rarely present, even in association with advanced heart failure. The pleural
effusions in a patient with AL amyloidosis may simply represent heart failure, but patients with
cardiac amyloid may also have pleural infiltration with amyloid, resulting in disproportionately large
effusions that are diuretic resistant and rapidly recur after a pleural tap. Splenomegaly is rare, whereas
hepatomegaly is common and is due either to congestion from right heart failure or to amyloid
infiltration When extensive amyloid infiltration of the liver is present, the organ is rock hard and not
tender, often extending several centimeters below the costal margin and crossing the midline. This
contrasts with the firm, sometimes tender, liver of heart failure. Peripheral edema may be profound,
and if it appears disproportionate to the degree of heart failure, the possibility of associated nephrotic
syndrome should be considered. In addition to autonomic dysfunction, amyloidosis may cause a
sensory neuropathy, and the patient may complain of numbness or painful extremities/ A history of
weight loss is common, and proteinuria, frequently reaching nephrotic range (≥3 g/24 h), coexists with
cardiac disease in 30% to 50% of

What was the True Cause of the Peloponnesian War
There have been many reasons and debates on what was the true cause of the Peloponnesian War.
Thucydides describes the main reason for war somewhat accurately The real cause... The growth of
the power of Athens, and the alarm which this inspired in Lacedaemon, made war inevitable.
(Thucydides I.1.23). But, it was not Sparta that was alarmed but Corinth. The status quo of Greece
was interrupted by Athens rise to power. As a result, Sparta was pressured by many minor Greek city
states to restore the status quo. However, Sparta was still reluctant to go to war but, Corinth provided a
catalyst to take all of that pressure and convince Sparta to declare war on Athens. Ultimately, it was
Corinth that started the Peloponnesian War. After the end of the Persian War, Athens and Sparta each
had their own different foreign policies; Athens being more active in foreign affairs and Sparta being
very isolationist. With the siege of Sestos, a more decisive divergence began to appear between
Athenian and Peloponnesian aspirations; it became more pronounced...with offensive operations.

Mistakes are an essential part of learning languages, there s no way that you can reach fluency without

The purpose of making mistakes it to learn from them. An excellent strategy is to learn your lesson as
quickly as possible and move on, better and stronger than you were before.
If your experience of learning a language is filled with stressful emotions you re much more likely to
give up.
Always remember that mistakes are the gateway to improvement and are essential to our development.
Without mistakes your progress will stall.

OF and FROM are two of the most common prepositions in English. They are used in a wide variety
of situations, but are also often confused.
Many English learners have difficulties understanding the difference between of and from in English.
This comes from the fact that a number of languages, including romance languages such as Italian and
French, as well as German, use the same preposition for both of and from

Transcription:
DNA consists of two strands. One is the coding strand and the other is the template stand. In
transcription there is an enzyme called RNA polymerase that unzips the two strands. This allows RNA
nucleotides (uracil, adenine, guanine and cytosine) to enter the DNA and connect to the corresponding
DNA nucleotides (thymine, adenine, guanine and cytosine) on the template strand. After the
nucleotides have been paired, phosphodiester bonds, bond the RNA nucleotides together and this
creates a continuous strain of mRNA which is capable of leaving the cell s nucleus, whereas the DNA
cannot as the molecule is too big. Once the mRNA has moved out of the nucleus it moves to a
ribosome. (1)

Victor Frankenstein Moral Analysis
Victor Frankenstein seemingly goes through several moral pitfalls throughout Mary Shelley s novel.
Between playing God and inviting life to be placed upon a concoction of otherwise left over body
parts, or, completely abandoning the Creature during its first second of life. Is either one morally
correct? No. But in my opinion, one is far worse than the other. Frankenstein is equally as defiant of
that of a teenager. As soon as he is told not to do something, there is no turning back, and he must then
follow through with his plan. For example, when he is told by both his father and more forwardly so
by his professor, M. Krempe, that Every minute, every instant that you have wasted on those books is
utterly and entirely lost after he mentioned his studies of natural philosopher s Cornelius Agrippa,
Albertus Magnus, and Paracelsus, Frankenstein immediately finds another professor who enables his
interests and urges him to continue, which he does. However, that all soon spirals out of control and he
finds himself in his laboratory day in and day out, obsessively carrying out his experiment, until
finally, he sparks life into his new creature. Playing God, when one is in fact a mere human, can never
have a good outcome. We as humans have a nasty habit of wanting instant gratification, and in this
case, to also prove the naysayers wrong. As human, there is no way for Frankenstein to ever
understand every possible outcome that may occur after this creature is brought into the

The Classroom 20 Things Good Teachers Do Analysis
What makes a good teacher? While many people may have certain credentials and can make list out of
these. The teacher must have a strong connection with his students, energetic enthusiastic, the list can
go on. Hal Urban has done this by writing the book, The Classroom: 20 things Good Teachers Do. As
future educators it is important for us to reflect, and remember our roots of where we came from and
the different techniques both positive and negative that our teachers used in the classroom. Not only
does this help us grow as educators, but it helps us learn the importance of the kind of environment we
want to create in the classroom. Urban introduces these credentials by talking about how in one of his
classes professor Dr. Kirk, asked who your favorite teacher was and why? He then responds saying Dr.
Sweeney, he has a lot of enthusiasm. Urban than goes on to say that was what Dr. Kirk expected I ask
that question every year, and I always get the same answer. He opens with that ... Show more content

Theory of Successful Aging
Theory Of Successful Aging
INTERNAL CRITICISM
Adequacy: The Flood s Theory of Successful Aging (Flood, 2005) was developed to addresses a
nursing theory for care of the older adult regarding to the lack of nursing theory that offers clearly
delineated guidelines for care of aging. Flood s(2002) unique definition of successful aging among
other explanations includes mental, physical, and spiritual elements of the aging person and
emphasizing the individual s self appraisal. She used existing knowledge derived deductively from the
Roy adaptation model, one of the most widely accepted nursing theory model, and integrated these
ideas with Tornstam s sociological theory of gerotranscendence and literature related to the concept of
successful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These concepts can be understood without lengthy descriptions and explanations. In this study, the
author employed a variation of deductive reformulation, a process involving the derivation of existing
knowledge from a non nursing theory integrated with knowledge obtained deductively from a nursing
conceptual model which would allow for a more logical presentation of how the components relate to
each other. Moreover, the model is exhibited in this paper is an elucidate of the theory s components
structure and would present the interrelationship of its components. The theory is parsimonious in that
it is clear and concise in explanations of the concepts (Bredow, 2009, p. 55).
Discrimination: The scientific process of deductive reformulation lends credibility and sound logic to
Flood s theory of successful aging. Flood, founder who is an advanced practice registered nurse, used
deductive reformulation to develop her theory of successful aging in nursing discipline. Without any
other useful theory of aging to guide nursing care, Flood s (2005) theory offers promise for nursing.
This theory provides a useful framework for interventions that target the mental, physical, and
spiritual health of aging persons. It would be able to produce hypotheses that will lead to research
results in older adult nursing research. However, there is no evidence of a nursing research using this
theory.

Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Case Study
After their successful work with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, St. Jude Children s Hospital decided

children every year. Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a cancer that begins in bone marrow and quickly
multiplies and spreads to white blood cells, makes up 20% of all childhood leukemia (Pui 51). The

Jude has continued to go beyond other hospitals in the United States when it comes to research in the
Pediatric Genome Project. Organizing the genetic base of complex diseases like pediatric cancer has
been the hardest challenge scientists have had to overcome in order to understand the molecular
background of certain disease (Hussain). In order to create a treatment with the hopes of ending
childhood cancer, St. Jude Children s Hospital recognized the importance of designing a project that
would allow them to organize the landscape of certain mutations commonly appeared in a specific
disease. In January 2010, St. Jude Children s Research Hospital collaborated with Washington

international effort to identify the genetic mutations that cause the formation of cancer tumors and to
develop new treatments to target these illnesses. This three year, $65 million dollar project was
developed in order to sequence the genetic orientation of over 600 pediatric tumors and non tumor

this project (Downing). This study concluded that variations in repetitive DNA sequences,
heterogeneity within tumor samples, and mutations affecting the regulatory regions of genes are the

The courage of the daring climber that attemps to conquer Everest exceeds most. He or she seeks to
surmount one of Mother Nature s most menacing obstacles. For many years, thousands of people have

The Development Of The Palo Verde Irrigation Area
In 1923, the Palo Verde Irrigation District was formed. Including over 130,000 acres within Imperial
and Riverside Counties, the valley, as it s frequently called, is an agricultural hub where an abundance
of produce grows, livestock feed is grown and where PVID is given primary water rights in the state.
Thus, eight years later, in 1931, seven California water entities entered into a Seven Party Water
Agreement assigning priorities to the 4.4 MAF of Colorado River water to which California is
entitled.
According to the agreement, PVID, Imperial Irrigation District, Coachella Valley Water District,

the exposing of the illegal schemes done by MWD, as they continue to threaten both land and water
within the Palo Verde Valley region. Also mentioned in this complaint, PVID states, The suit details
how MWD violated California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) laws by executing six farmland
parcel leases, without an Environmental Impact Report, that include draconian water use restrictions.
MWD demanded the restrictions in an attempt to divert excess Colorado River water to Southern
California s urban areas. Not forthcoming with details in responses to PVID s direct attempts to learn
more about the leases before they were executed and the illegal gift of public funds of more than $125
million, which violates the California Constitution, on Aug. 7, PVID filed a lawsuit against the

Personal Privacy or National Security
Personal Privacy or National Security
William Shelton
ENG122: English Composition
Prof. Lisa Clark
August 7, 2012
Defining National Security VS Personal Privacy is a matter of looking at the basic nature of each.
From research collected there is a consensus that we need balance. Too much of one hurts the other
and vise versa. There are a couple of articles that range from Civil Liberties to the birth of public right
to know that support the overall claim. Talks about the effects of censorship in different situations like
war and peace will help prove that a balance needs to be forged. The problem here isn t the definition
of personal vs national security, but the survival of each in light of each other. There is history in our

This kind of action is completely unnecessary and undermines our Fourth Amendment. National
security is the ability to protect our borders through homeland security while upholding the rights of
nation. Privacy when openly tampered with is distorted. Nobody acts the same knowingly being
watched. Information finds another way. There have been studies on lesser issues like workers. There
is more productivity when people think they are being watched. The same when our liberties are at
stake. What are people to do when it s done for the wrong reasons? Like when an African American
see s a sign that separates white and color bathrooms. Another would be when the Jews were forced to
where a star then live separately in their own projects. The US jokes about our nation being like
fraternity. Every new group gets picked on. The Jew s for being good with money. The Mexicans for
being illegal s and now it s the Arab s turn. But Arab s are all terrorist somehow. We have seen terror
before from the Unabomber, the KKK, and columbine shooting. How do we keep up with inflation?
The government finds one way to gather information and terrorist adapt. When civil liberties get
trampled in the process more anti American groups rise to the occasion creating more danger inside
America and out. A different example can be Adolf Hitler as a ruthless dictator and his main success
as a dictator was propaganda. It

The Depth Of The River Affect Its Overall Ph From Mid July...
Question: Does the depth of the river affect its overall pH from mid december 2015 to early january

Knowledge Probe: According to.epa.gov/acidrain/measure/pH.html, pH is a measure of the hydrogen
ion concentration of a solution. Solutions with a high concentration of hydrogen ions have a low pH
and solutions with a low concentrations of H+ ions have a high pH. A pH of 7 is the most neutral you
can get and 0 being the most acidic and 14 being the most basic. each level is 10 times more basic/
acidic than the previous level, for example a pH of 8 is 10 times more basic than 7, and a pH of 9 is
100 times more basic than 7. when an acidic substance reacts with a basic substance they counter each

the depth in inches to the pH directly, and the average of each is at the bottom of the table.
Data Analysis: On trial 5 something interesting happened where it did not match the trend of other
data points. you can see this when comparing the depth to pH with the grapHs; for example trial 1 s
depth and pH is lower than trial 2 s depth and pH, and trial 2 s depth and pH is lower than trial 3 s
depth and pH etc. that sort of trend is fluent through the data except trial 5 where depth was lower than
the previous trials but the pH was the highest collected. My data is accurate to a point but when
collecting the depth of the river it presented a challenge to get 100% accurate because it is constantly
changing; also the pH scale only measures to the hundredth of a digit. The pH Scales calibration could
also have been of slightly but all of my trials were collected under the same calibration so it does not
seem to present a change in trend but instead with the actual numbers.

2015 to early January 2016.

Marketing in the Banking Industry
Marketing in the Banking industry
Introduction:
In many ways, the banking industry has functioned more as a private industry offering something of a
public utility. Through this unique role, the industry has dramatically expanded its service and product
offerings over the last several decades. However, even as the industry has evolved, its marketing
strategies have remained somewhat static. The assumption for many in the banking industry not unlike
a public utility is that their services are needed by the public. This, in and of itself, is a view that has
dissuaded many from achieving the type of marketing presence from which they might otherwise
benefit. However, this approach is shifting significantly today as banks struggle to compete with one
another and with their own negative reputations. As the discussion here will show, more effective
marketing is the key to driving new success in an industry in need of a recovery.
Problem Statement:
Over the last decade, a string of corporate collapses has contributed to a decided downslide in the
reputation of the global banking industry. Scandal, embezzlement and dishonesty marked the downfall
of a number of prominent investment banking firms, helping to compound a sense for many in the
public that bank s are driven by greed and are not to be trusted. This denotes a clear problem for the
banking industry on the whole, which relies on the public s trust and loyalty to court and maintain
customers. Therefore, a great

The Great Debate to Leave Home
Traversing lands unknown to one before has always been a subject of mystery, as these foreign sights
and wonders give way to many unexpected discoveries to the naïve mind. In any society, the idea of
travelling abroad is still taboo in most circles the ethnocentric ideals of most traditional cultures, while
not outright forbidding, but still do look down on the practice of leaving home with goals of success.
Whether it be religious thoughts of demons abroad or wanting to keep handy laborers at home, or any
other reason, there is always reason for those wanting to wanting to keep such virile young at home,
and they will often attempt to do so. Those leaving will give up their identity, but not in any kind of
negative way; as they grow, they will find themselves changed by time, as they embrace the new ideas
and rituals of their live in society. They may go home, but with the inward change and newfound
knowledge, they will not be able to see the world with their young eyes, as they once had.
Overcoming adversity is a manner of mending the word a bit and learning to adapt to any current
situation. Those leaving home are often met with adversity. At the age of eighteen, the Amish are

Does The Government Influence The Role Of The Church And...
While our Founding Fathers did not intend for the government to interfere with Church and family
roles, it is clear from America s history that this is exactly what has happened. Over the past few
centuries, the government has slowly taken over the roles of the Church and family. The role of the
Church is supposed to provide hope to the unreached and unsaved and be a place to grow closer to
God. The role of the family is to provide care for one another and connect to each other on a personal
level. The government has slowly been taking these roles away and replacing it with their own laws
and regulations. Over the years, the United States government has slowly usurped the roles of the
Church and family system and removed God from many things, causing Americans to put ... Show

This has changed to the government overtaking the roles of the Church and family. First of all, the
government has had a major impact on the Church. People have come to trust the government rather
than trusting the Church. There are many reasons for this including: if there are no jobs, people go to
the government s welfare; if you need food, you get food stamps instead of relying on the Church; and
if you need medical support, you get Medicaid instead of relying on the Church for support. The
government has also taken away the right of talking about God in the public school system. Instead of
schools allowing free speech, there are certain requirements about what can and cannot be talked
about. Since the government operates the public schools, they get to decide what to teach the kids,
even if it is not Spiritually related. Furthermore, giving taxes to the Church is hard to do when you
have to pay the Government about 30% of your income. The Bible tells us to give 10% of our income
to God. Overall, the government has replaced religion with science, and people put their trust in the
government rather than the Church. Next, the government has replaced the roles of the

Descriptive Essay About The Winter Concert
The sound of a dying cow, croaking its last breath . That was what my dad called the sound of me
playing my clarinet. Don t get me wrong, I love playing the clarinet and always tried my best, but 3rd
grade me was not that talented. To specify, I sounded truly horrible. All the beginner band students
(including me) had thought they were the best of the best. The greatest musicians in the world. Of
course, as you may know, 1st year players were nowhere near perfect no less professionals. And this
leads me to my school first concert of the year; The Winter Concert. We could not call it the Christmas
concert as I went to a public school. This was even though 95% of the kids were Christian/White and
most of the songs we sang and played were Christmas jingles. So, to continue, one of the songs we
played other than the obvious jingle bells, was hot cross buns. Clearly no concert is perfect and by far,
we screwed it up. By the end, none of the parents watching could tell the difference between the song
and the squeaks that were over powering the song . To conclude the concert, everyone s parents came
up to each of their sweet little kids and gave them flowers, hugs, and kisses. Mine came over and said,
You guys sounded like a herd being led to the slaughter house . Nah, just kidding said they loved it.
Their inner thoughts may have been a little different though. My 7th birthday was the first birthday I
actually celebrated with invited friends. Of course my parents were cheap and we had it at the park
instead of places like funtopia or chuckee cheeses, but it was fine. Really it was JUST FINE! I AM
NOT MAD! Just joking, I actually really enjoyed it. Most of the kids just came for the free pizza and
goodie bags at the end, but didn t we all at one point. I remember one time a group of me and my
friends went to this B day party of a girl we all hated... and avoided her the entire time! Ahhh, the
good old days where every kid was a bull, even to their fake friends, and no one got in trouble. Back
to what I was saying, so my party was all yay yay glitter, pink, sparkles, etc. until my brothers came.

Procrastination In High School
I can easily say that procrastination was something I struggled with throughout my high school career.
It was so easy for me to choose a football game or a night out with friends over studying or doing
homework. Even though school work is obviously more important than hanging out with friends, I
prioritized my social status. I thought it was the biggest worry in my life, but now that I am in college,
I know that my social life must come second to school work. I spent so much time trying to impress
people that I haven t spoken a word to since graduation. It is embarrassing to think about how I
portrayed myself in high school and how I thought being the top dog was the key to success. Looking
back, I wish all the time I wasted thinking about how others viewed me had been spent studying and
focusing on school work. Once during my sophomore year of high school, we had our first major
project due in biology, a good old fashioned leaf project. It was due in the middle of September, and
fall was in full bloom. Which means the leaves were changing, dying and falling off the tree. For the
assignment we were required to collect thirty two different types of leaves. The leaves had to be in
pristine condition, labeled, pressed, and in a scrapbook for the project to be complete. I spent all my
time going to football games, soccer games, and involved myself in to many events. I had play
practice everyday, got home late and then went straight to bed. I never made time or pushed aside

The Hispanic market in particular is the fastest growing group of people in the United States, and
being able to successfully advertise to them is key in seeing a business succeed. The current market
size for the Hispanic population makes up 17 percent of the United States Total population, this is
around 53 million people as of 2012. In fact, the United States has the second largest group of
Hispanics in the world behind Mexico. This staggering percentage is predicted to grow to around
128.8 million people or 31% of the United States by the year 2060. To keep up with the growing
population.
When marketing towards a target demographic, a company needs to look at where the most people of
that demographic reside. The top ten biggest states for the Hispanic Population are: California,
Florida, Texas, New Jersey, Illinois, North Carolina, Colorado, New York, New Mexico and Arizona.
Marketing efforts need to be directed in these states first and foremost to get the most bang for your
buck in terms of the target demographic seeing it.
Marketing Objectives
According to the Miller marketing division, it has a few main areas of focus for its advertising, before
any advertising is done they need to see who is drinking what, after that, sales are looked at and
reports are made to see where and what buyers are buying. They then research the actual buyers.

Name Change Controversy Research Paper
Race in America 2014: The Washington Redskins
The Washington, D.C. football team, known as the Redskins, has generated controversy for years
because of its name and mascot. Some say that the name should be changed because the term redskin
is a racial slur that denigrates Native Americans. Others, including team owner Dan Snyder, insist that
the name denotes only the football team s proud history, and that changing the name is unnecessary.
In September of 2014, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, a satirical comedy news program, aired the
following segment about the Redskins name change controversy:

Moralism In The Movie High Noon
High Noon, the shocking American film from the 1950 s, shines light on the true nature of one
standing their ground when the world is against them. This movie was written to represent the Red
Scare, when Hollywood members were falsely accused of being communist. These actors were forced
to give names of others who they thought were communists or else they would be punished. If the
communist actors gave out names, however, they would be ruining other s careers. Some of the people
refused to give names. Like the Marshall in the movie High Noon, these brave actors stood up for
what they believed in. Nevertheless, the other members of Hollywood around were not very willing to
support. They were like the townspeople in High Noon. They didn t want to risk their own reputation
and safety. In the film, Zinnemann successfully revealed the hardships of those falsely convicted, and
exposed the hearts of those who saw the false conviction, but did nothing about it in order to protect
themselves. Directed by Fred Zinnemann, this thrilling motion picture s main character is a marshal
named Cain, played by the actor Gary Cooper. He s asked by the townspeople to relocate because a
few villains plan to kill him at high noon. Instead of heeding to the advice of the townspeople, Cain
stands up for what he believes in, and stays to fight all four of the villains. People slowly remove
themselves from him, and refuse to fight by his side. He has to face his enemies alone.
High Noon is like many other works of literature which praised heroes who fought the fight alone.
Helen Hannah, in the movie Judgment was mocked and put on trial for her religious beliefs. Tousle, in
the novel Straw into Gold, broke out of the crowd, and spoke on behalf of innocent people being
claimed as rebels. These heroes were ready and willing to put their life on the line for what they
believe. However, it was not easy for any of them. Just like the other authors, Zinnemann wanted the
audience to see the internal struggle the hero was having. The look on the marshal s face, the
weariness in his gait, and his conflicting thoughts when he walked into the bar, and punched one of the
men in the face, and was about to leave on the horse, but changed his

Carter has directed the narrative mostly, although not completely, from the older woman in the text, speaking back on the past (therefore past tense) as a first person narrative. There is interjections of dialogue throughout the text, although it is mostly constructed as a written text, as if the older women is writing in a diary, but has interjections of dialogue, possibly showing her memory traveling back and replaying moments. The reference to Red Riding Hood with the line, All the better to see you implies the beastial ferosiaty that the Marquis grows in the latter stages of the story. Gothic Elements consist of dark atmospheres, the supernatural, uncanny figures, damsel in distress, physiological breakdown, and many other elements. Elements of gothic literature are usually not used in a literal sense; authors usually use metaphors to get the aspect of gothic literature across to the audience. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within both literary works the element of the damsel in distress is strongly presented to create a gothic literature. In The Turn of the Screw, the governess plays the role by displaying her ongoing battle with the ghosts over the safety of the children. Within her first couple of days at the house, she is already seeing the ghosts of the old governess, Miss Jessel and the butler, Peter Quint. In the book, the governess constantly tells about her concern that the children are in danger. In the book, James writes, Dear little Miles, dear little Miles, if you knew how I want to help you! It s only that, it s nothing but that, and I d rather die than give you a pain or do you a wrong ; this shows the governesses helpless obsession with trying to keep the children safe (108). In this conversation with Miles, the governess is trying to get him to tell her Quint blew out the candles but Miles replies that it was him (James 108). This leads her to become distressed over her inability to protect the children from the ghosts. Science I Term Paper The research paper that this term paper is based on is Interactions Among Plant Transcription Factors Regulating Expression of Stress responsive Genes, Sony Malhotra and R. Sowdhamini, National Center for Biological Sciences, June 2014, Bioinformatics and Biology Insights. Abstract: Plants are known to respond to abiotic stress by up or down regulating their genes. This is done by activating transcription factors. It is known that these transcription factors, though they have DNA binding domains, interact amongst each other for the regulation of gene production. In order to find out which transcription factors interact and how, the research uses genetic and molecular structure information available in databases and computationally analyses the data. The factors that lead to the conclusion of interaction between transcription factors includes spatial proximity and possible interaction poses. Molecular docking is used to predict the interaction poses and DockScore is a scoring system used to rank the interaction poses. Introduction: Plants are immobile and therefore need mechanisms to counteract stresses that they face from their environment. Cold, high light, drought, salinity, abscisic acid, rehydration and combination of stresses like cold drought salt stress are common abiotic stresses that plants encounter. In order to deal with these stresses, plants either up regulate or down regulate their genes; that is, they increase the production of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Hidden Curriculum In Education Cheswin Roman 209188731 Hidden Curriculum essay This essay will explain what the Hidden Curriculum is and its implications on issues in the South African system. The essay will also reflect my understanding of the concept hidden curriculum. I will also explain the different levels in the educational system. The second section of the essay I will focus on what I have identified as the hidden curriculum during my teaching practice experience. In my conclusion I will address the hidden curriculum in order to redress the concern I have identified. The hidden curriculum is lessons that we as educators teach informally or unintentionally at school. Learners will learn unintended values, beliefs, behaviours and norms in the classroom and the social learning environment (Department of Educational Studies, 2015). They may learn how to interact with other learners for example debates and class discussions and group work. Hidden curriculum will initially begin at a young age for learners. In primary school they will be taught how to greet an educator and to say please and thank you (Department of Educational Studies, 2015). We can basically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They will just see it as a statistic. Many others though; would want to do something to stop this from happening. Problems include natural disasters, homes being taken away or destroyed, hunted for their feathers or the fur that they provide; There are many factors as to why these animals disappear but people are the number one cause as to why animals decline so rapidly in numbers. Many people know there are people who don t give a rip about animals, and there are some that are in between, and others that absolutely love animals. The problem here are the people that do not like animals at all. Trees are cut down, pollution thrown wherever, and not even once do they think about the animals that occupy these essentials. They do not think about the river that the animals need to drink out of. They do not think of the birds that live in the trees, or other animals that look to them as a food source. The thing is, these animals know when their habitat is not suitable to live in. These birds called raptors which means carry away in Latin; know when their habitat isn t suitable, which then gives a sign to other animals to find another place. These birds of prey are in constant threat of being killed, whether it be by pollution, their homes being taken away or they are shot down in fear of them killing the farm animals farm owners provide. ... In the play Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, there are two instances of speeches that persuade, convert, and compel the audiences. Both of the speakers had beliefs that were polar opposites, and both speeches brought forth many emotions and convictions that drove the crowd to nearly killing others. The first of the speeches, given by Brutus, was intended to compel the audience to believe that killing Julius Caesar was a good thing for Rome. The fear that these characters have eventually winded up having a solution or solve that helps resolve their fears. Fear is defined as: a feeling of agitation or anxiety caused by the presence or imminence of danger. An example of fear in one of the stories is Leonard in Blowing up on the Spot, because he fears death and it controls and restricts his life. Towards the end of that story, Leonard finds his resolve of having that fear. The type of things that can lead to resolutions of fear is epiphanies. In his short story, Mortal Kombat to boys was facing a fear like no other. In his short story called Mortal Kombat the boys Scotty and Wynn are best friends and they both have this fear of accepting they are falling for one another. In Kevin Wilsons short story, Mortal Kombat the narrator says, It is simple and awkward at the same time, the way they proceed. • 15. Uncertainty As A Necessary Property Of The Universe Uncertainty as a Necessary Property of the Universe There is a value in being uncertain about certainty; the value is seen in stress reduction, both in science/professional life as well as in day to day mundane life. The value also exists in the perpetuation or the drive for innovation. The common knee jerk reaction to a presentation of uncertainty is to hold fear or contempt, but after some more careful consideration, uncertainty appears to be very important in nature. There are even ways to capitalize, or exploit, uncertainty for benefit. In science or professional life, embracing uncertainty allows for loosened restrictions on modeling (not to be confused with gross negligence; not referring to introduced uncertainties), higher level induction via empirically determined boundary conditions, and boons in funding for research. The mathematical model only needs to apply to a specific set of conditions. As a scientist, you need not focus on a general model that accounts for all variables. Stresses involved when pressed for resources are then reduced because the focus can be deliberately placed on only the variables you are exploring, or validity of the model needs to be only with a specific set of conditions. The final model can yield nonsense acceptably when used outside the intended conditions. Additionally, boundary conditions can be identified leading to general evolution of systems. Sometimes boundary conditions lead you to the relative stabilities of sets of solutions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Inaccuracy In Genetic Testing Although researchers and scientists always aim to develop further beneficial advancements, some of them might be as harmful and still controversial as they are supposed to be beneficial. Genetic technologies are advancing at a very high rate. For example, genetic testing is widely available nowadays. It is a test that identifies whether an individual is carrying the gene for a specific disease or disorder. Through genetic testing, parents can be provided with genetic information about the health of the fetus by simply taking a blood sample and testing it. However, implications arise as genetic technology is not very accurate. Although a positive result indicates a higher possibility of carrying the disease or disorder and a negative result indicates a lower possibility, there is always that other possibility of a false result (Women s Health Care Physicians). Inaccuracy in genetic testing causes a controversial question on whether individuals should risk the choices by trusting and basing their life on nothing but expected results. Even more concern is caused due to rejections of going through genetic testing and consequently, a possibility of giving birth to a defected baby and not taking benefit of the technology. Many agree that not taking a genetic test avoids a lot of the emotional issues and stress that could arise with the results. Suit therapy is a system of rubber bands, hooks, and rings that connect a vest, shorts, kneepads, and specially connected shoes (McMahon, Pruitt Vargus Adams, 2009). There is bungee like cords that continue to tighten and adjust in order to mimic normal flexor and extensor patterns of major muscle groups in an attempt to correct abnormal alignment (McMahon, Pruitt Vargus Adams, 2009). Wearing the suit along with intensive physical therapy, and active motor participation by the patient for a certain amount of time and frequency is meant to retrain normal muscle movement and improve sensory and proprioceptive information in the brain (McMahon, Pruitt Vargus Adams, 2009). Suit therapy has been emerging as an alternative therapy for cerebral palsy. We are researching whether or not suit therapy treats both implications cerebral palsy has on the body, the brain and muscles. While suit therapy seems like a great idea in theory, we are looking for proof that it has worked on patients that have gone through clinical trials or experiments with it and that it will be an accessible therapy able to reach the population. Thucydides describes the main reason for war somewhat accurately The real cause... The growth of the power of Athens, and the alarm which this inspired in Lacedaemon, made war inevitable. (Thucydides I.1.23). But, it was not Sparta that was alarmed but Corinth. The status quo of Greece was interrupted by Athens rise to power. As a result, Sparta was pressured by many minor Greek city states to restore the status quo. However, Sparta was still reluctant to go to war but, Corinth provided a catalyst to take all of that pressure and convince Sparta to declare war on Athens. Ultimately, it was Corinth that started the Peloponnesian War. After the end of the Persian War, Athens and Sparta each had their own different foreign policies; Athens being more active in foreign affairs and Sparta being very isolationist. With the siege of Sestos, a more decisive divergence began to appear between Athenian and Peloponnesian aspirations; it became more pronounced...with offensive operations. (Sealey 228). In transcription there is an enzyme called RNA polymerase that unzips the two strands. This allows RNA nucleotides (uracil, adenine, guanine and cytosine) to enter the DNA and connect to the corresponding DNA nucleotides (thymine, adenine, guanine and cytosine) on the template strand. After the nucleotides have been paired, phosphodiester bonds, bond the RNA nucleotides together and this creates a continuous strain of mRNA which is capable of leaving the cell s nucleus, whereas the DNA cannot as the molecule is too big. Thus, eight years later, in 1931, seven California water entities entered into a Seven Party Water Agreement assigning priorities to the 4.4 MAF of Colorado River water to which California is entitled. According to the agreement, PVID, Imperial Irrigation District, Coachella Valley Water District, MWD, the City of Los Angeles, the City of San Diego and San Diego County are all parties with some entitlement. Nonetheless, with each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the amended complaint, PVID alleges that due to MWD being unable to comply with CEQA laws and very their own Administrative Codes, the suit against the water district has resulted in the exposing of the illegal schemes done by MWD, as they continue to threaten both land and water within the Palo Verde Valley region. Also mentioned in this complaint, PVID states, The suit details how MWD violated California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) laws by executing six farmland parcel leases, without an Environmental Impact Report, that include draconian water use restrictions. MWD demanded the restrictions in an attempt to divert excess Colorado River water to Southern California s urban areas. Not forthcoming with details in responses to PVID s direct attempts to learn more about the leases before they were executed and the illegal gift of public funds of more than $125 million, which violates the California Constitution, on Aug. 7, PVID filed a lawsuit against the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. Personal Privacy or National Security Personal Privacy or National Security William Shelton ENG122: English Composition Prof. Lisa Clark August 7, 2012 Defining National Security VS Personal Privacy is a matter of looking at the basic nature of each. From research collected there is a consensus that we need balance. Too much of one hurts the other and vise versa. There are a couple of articles that range from Civil Liberties to the birth of public right to know that support the overall claim. Talks about the effects of censorship in different situations like war and peace will help prove that a balance needs to be forged. There is more productivity when people think they are being watched. The same when our liberties are at stake. What are people to do when it s done for the wrong reasons? • 33. The Depth Of The River Affect Its Overall Ph From Mid July... Question: Does the depth of the river affect its overall pH from mid december 2015 to early january 2016? Knowledge Probe: According to.epa.gov/acidrain/measure/pH.html, pH is a measure of the hydrogen ion concentration of a solution. Solutions with a high concentration of hydrogen ions have a low pH and solutions with a low concentrations of H+ ions have a high pH. A pH of 7 is the most neutral you can get and 0 being the most acidic and 14 being the most basic. each level is 10 times more basic/ acidic than the previous level, for example a pH of 8 is 10 times more basic than 7, and a pH of 9 is 100 times more basic than 7. when an acidic substance reacts with a basic substance they counter each other like mixing hot and cold water. ... • 34. Marketing in the Banking Industry Marketing in the Banking industry Introduction: In many ways, the banking industry has functioned more as a private industry offering something of a public utility. Through this unique role, the industry has dramatically expanded its service and product offerings over the last several decades. However, even as the industry has evolved, its marketing strategies have remained somewhat static. The assumption for many in the banking industry not unlike a public utility is that their services are needed by the public. This, in and of itself, is a view that has dissuaded many from achieving the type of marketing presence from which they might otherwise benefit. However, this approach is shifting significantly today as banks struggle to compete with one another and with their own negative reputations. As the discussion here will show, more effective marketing is the key to driving new success in an industry in need of a recovery. Problem Statement: Over the last decade, a string of corporate collapses has contributed to a decided downslide in the reputation of the global banking industry. Scandal, embezzlement and dishonesty marked the downfall of a number of prominent investment banking firms, helping to compound a sense for many in the public that bank s are driven by greed and are not to be trusted. This denotes a clear problem for the banking industry on the whole, which relies on the public s trust and loyalty to court and maintain customers. Therefore, a great ... While our Founding Fathers did not intend for the government to interfere with Church and family roles, it is clear from America s history that this is exactly what has happened. Over the past few centuries, the government has slowly taken over the roles of the Church and family. The role of the Church is supposed to provide hope to the unreached and unsaved and be a place to grow closer to God. The role of the family is to provide care for one another and connect to each other on a personal level. The government has slowly been taking these roles away and replacing it with their own laws and regulations. Over the years, the United States government has slowly usurped the roles of the Church and family system and removed God from many things, causing Americans to put ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has changed to the government overtaking the roles of the Church and family. First of all, the government has had a major impact on the Church. People have come to trust the government rather than trusting the Church. There are many reasons for this including: if there are no jobs, people go to the government s welfare; if you need food, you get food stamps instead of relying on the Church; and if you need medical support, you get Medicaid instead of relying on the Church for support. The government has also taken away the right of talking about God in the public school system. Instead of schools allowing free speech, there are certain requirements about what can and cannot be talked about. Since the government operates the public schools, they get to decide what to teach the kids, even if it is not Spiritually related. Furthermore, giving taxes to the Church is hard to do when you have to pay the Government about 30% of your income. The Bible tells us to give 10% of our income to God. Don t get me wrong, I love playing the clarinet and always tried my best, but 3rd grade me was not that talented. To specify, I sounded truly horrible. All the beginner band students (including me) had thought they were the best of the best. The greatest musicians in the world. Of course, as you may know, 1st year players were nowhere near perfect no less professionals. And this leads me to my school first concert of the year; The Winter Concert. We could not call it the Christmas concert as I went to a public school. This was even though 95% of the kids were Christian/White and most of the songs we sang and played were Christmas jingles. So, to continue, one of the songs we played other than the obvious jingle bells, was hot cross buns. Clearly no concert is perfect and by far, we screwed it up. By the end, none of the parents watching could tell the difference between the song and the squeaks that were over powering the song . To conclude the concert, everyone s parents came up to each of their sweet little kids and gave them flowers, hugs, and kisses. Mine came over and said, You guys sounded like a herd being led to the slaughter house . Nah, just kidding said they loved it. Their inner thoughts may have been a little different though. My 7th birthday was the first birthday I actually celebrated with invited friends. Of course my parents were cheap and we had it at the park instead of places like funtopia or chuckee cheeses, but it was fine. Really it was JUST FINE! I AM NOT MAD! It was so easy for me to choose a football game or a night out with friends over studying or doing homework. Even though school work is obviously more important than hanging out with friends, I prioritized my social status. I thought it was the biggest worry in my life, but now that I am in college, I know that my social life must come second to school work. I spent so much time trying to impress people that I haven t spoken a word to since graduation. It is embarrassing to think about how I portrayed myself in high school and how I thought being the top dog was the key to success. Looking back, I wish all the time I wasted thinking about how others viewed me had been spent studying and focusing on school work. Once during my sophomore year of high school, we had our first major project due in biology, a good old fashioned leaf project. It was due in the middle of September, and fall was in full bloom. Which means the leaves were changing, dying and falling off the tree. For the assignment we were required to collect thirty two different types of leaves. The leaves had to be in pristine condition, labeled, pressed, and in a scrapbook for the project to be complete. • 45. Moralism In The Movie High Noon High Noon, the shocking American film from the 1950 s, shines light on the true nature of one standing their ground when the world is against them. This movie was written to represent the Red Scare, when Hollywood members were falsely accused of being communist. These actors were forced to give names of others who they thought were communists or else they would be punished. If the communist actors gave out names, however, they would be ruining other s careers. Some of the people refused to give names. Like the Marshall in the movie High Noon, these brave actors stood up for what they believed in. Nevertheless, the other members of Hollywood around were not very willing to support. They were like the townspeople in High Noon. They didn t want to risk their own reputation and safety. In the film, Zinnemann successfully revealed the hardships of those falsely convicted, and exposed the hearts of those who saw the false conviction, but did nothing about it in order to protect themselves. Directed by Fred Zinnemann, this thrilling motion picture s main character is a marshal named Cain, played by the actor Gary Cooper. He s asked by the townspeople to relocate because a few villains plan to kill him at high noon. Instead of heeding to the advice of the townspeople, Cain stands up for what he believes in, and stays to fight all four of the villains. People slowly remove themselves from him, and refuse to fight by his side. He has to face his enemies alone. High Noon is like many other works of literature which praised heroes who fought the fight alone. Helen Hannah, in the movie Judgment was mocked and put on trial for her religious beliefs. Tousle, in the novel Straw into Gold, broke out of the crowd, and spoke on behalf of innocent people being claimed as rebels. These heroes were ready and willing to put their life on the line for what they believe. However, it was not easy for any of them. Just like the other authors, Zinnemann wanted the audience to see the internal struggle the hero was having.
