Effects Of Birth Control
Birth Control: Health Effects.
Every year at least 1 out of 5 pregnancies are unplanned, birth control is used to prevent unwanted
pregnancies it has been a concerned for humans for many years. There are many types of birth
controls, one of the most common one is combination pill which is used for many purposes. One
way combination pill is used is to stop ovulation due to the hormones that it produces which are
estrogen, and progesterone. These two hormones control the entire process when it comes to the
menstrual cycle, estrogen regulate the menstrual cycle meanwhile progesterone thickens the lining
of the uterus every month.
After doing more research on one of the most common birth control pills, how can one forget the

With monophasic estrogen, and progestin delivers the same amount each day, during the second
stage which is biphasic they pretty much deliver the same amount of estrogen everyday but for the
first 21 days. It has been proven that during the first half of the cycle the ratio of the estrogen
/progestin is lowered to allow the lining of the uterus to thicken. The ratio rises during the second
half of the cycle to allow the normal shedding of the lining of the uterus to occur. Meanwhile
everything remains the same throughout the third category.
It has been said that when birth control pills are taking correctly they are up to 99 percent
effective,9 out of 10 pill users get pregnant each year. Although birth controls are meant to protect

Natural Lashes Persuasive Speech
Beautiful, long lashes are one of the top beauty aspects desired by women worldwide.
Unfortunately, not everyone can have full luscious lashes like the celebrities we see strutting their
stuff on the red carpet. Full, healthy lashes can take about two months to regrow and generally last
about three months before naturally falling out. Unhealthy lashes fall out at a much higher
frequency due to their generally brittle, dry state. However, there are some easy to implement
strategies which can make a real, and noticeable, impact to the growth of your own natural lashes,
making them fuller, healthier and more attractive. Moisturise them Luscious Lashes Moisturising

Importance and Relevance of Cultural Stories
Cultural Stories Cultural narratives reveal aspects of their indigenous culture while at the same
time reflecting universal truths. This paper examines three stories that are germane to their native
culture while also dealing with the universal theme of individuation, the process by which one
becomes aware of oneself, distinct from other people. Each of the stories were written by authors
from different cultures: Hansel and Gretel was written by The Brother s Grimm in Germany, The
Wolf and The Lamb is an Aesop s Fable from Greece, and The Jungle Book is a set of stories
written by Rudyard Kipling in England. Although The Wolf and The Lamb and The Jungle Book
each feature animal characters, they are anthropomorphized to the extent that they still incorporate
the individuation process as a prominent trope. In each of the stories, the main character undertakes
the journey from innocence to experience and must learn how to assert and defend himself in the
face of danger and adversity. Although Hansel and Gretel features two (eponymous) main
characters rather than one, the story still addresses the need for children to undertake the process of
individuation and fend for themselves rather than relying on one s elders. At the beginning of the
story, Hansel and Gretel are naиЄ°ve; they rely on their parents, neither of whom can adequately
care for them (they are cold and underfed), yet the two children are also unable to adequately care
for themselves. For example,

Comparing Psycho And The Silence Of The Lambs
Psycho (1960) and The Silence of The Lambs (1991) are both influential Horror films of their
time. Psycho came with the emergence of a Psychological Horror , a subtype in the 60s in
which a new trend had grown in Horror films to create a Monster out of everyday people,
encouraging new fear in audiences in the US. It is based on the Novel by Robert Bloch, and
explores Marion Crane in a secluded Motel after stealing a large sum of money and subsequently
being murdered by Norman Bates. The Silence of The Lambs explores serial killer and cannibal,
Hannibal Lecter, while he is incarcerated, and the protagonist Clarice Starling, an FBI trainee. It
also focuses on Transgender Serial Killer, Buffalo Bill, who is the secondary antagonist in the film.

Critics have stated the character of Buffalo Bill is a transmisogynistic representation, stating:
Silence of the Lambs actually actively promoted a transmisogynistic idea, [...] that trans women are
the ultimate representation of male violence [...] Silence of the Lambs is so fundamentally a work
of transmisogyny (Truitt, 2016).
At the time of The Silence of The Lambs release, operations for transgender people were only
approved by very sexist and homophobic criteria, based on whether the person would pass as
their preferred gender after the operation. If a transgender person were to watch The Silence of
The Lambs, it would probably be taken as great offense, especially as the character Buffalo Bill is
repeatedly referred to by the incorrect pronouns such as he , and Hannibal Lecter even denies that
she is a transgender at all.
Sigmund Freud is considered to be the founder of Psychoanalytical Theory, which includes the
Oedipus complex, described as a desire for sexual involvement with the parent of the opposite sex
and a concomitant sense of rivalry with the parent of the same sex; a crucial stage in the normal
developmental process (Anon., 2018). This theory can be applied to the character Norman Bates in
Psycho, who had clear inappropriate attachments with his mother when she was alive, and

How Does Beowulf Show Courage
Beowulf was a valiant, courageous, honorable warrior. Beowulf, who is the main character in
the epic poem Beowulf , was widely known to possess highly sought after traits. For examples,
we will use his strength, nobility, and perseverance that he displays every day of his life.
However, we are going to focus on his other personality traits of honor, bravery, and courage in this
very informative essay. First, let us look at Beowulfs honor. There is no question that his honor lust
is earmarked in every single one of his actions. Every act he committed was contemplated and
examined to be performed in the most honorable way possible. Much like the Japanese society in
today s modern day and age, his decisions always were thought out to have some kind of honor.
Referencing to lines 265 through 269, he remarks how Higlac, his uncle and king, would think less
of him had he used a shield and sword in the battle with an unarmed monster. Sure, this may seem
much like common sense, of not wanting to disappoint... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Courage, by definition, is The ability to do something that frightens one s self . This, may sound
an awful lot like Bravery, the last topic that we had discussed. However, courage and bravery is
not the same thing, just very similar. I will first reference lines 113 and 114, where Beowulf
declared that a boat shall be outfitted for the trip from Geatland to Denmark, in order to assist
the Danes with their plight. This single action alone launched us into the world of Beowulf,
letting us see. Perhaps, if that is not convincing, we should look at lines 370 through 374, where
Beowulf and his men stood, ready to fight, and die for their beliefs. Concluding this segment, we
shall look at lines 465 through 466, where, despite being an elderly man who had ruled Geatland
for fifty years, stood his ground of against the dragon, and courageously died to for the protection of

The Direction Of Bilateral Trade Flows Across Countries Or...
4.2. Conclusion This study has indicated that there are some differences as to what determines the
direction of bilateral trade flows across countries or regional economic blocs. The motives behind
the formation of such arrangements disparate from region to region hence, there are differing
arguments that explain the rationale for their set up. Developing countries regional blocs in general,
African ones in particular, are often criticized for being politically oriented and this view has been
partially supported by the study. From the above regression results and the subsequent explanations,
it could be concluded that trade flow in the study area is positively impacted by real GDP in both
trading partners and is statistically significant. It is also directly proportional to the population
number in both countries, although the population number in the trading partners of countries in
the study area is not statistically significant. In addition, regression results from the dummy
variables, colonial history, membership of both trading partners in East African Community, and
common membership of both trading partners in regional economic integrations outside EAC,
reveals that trade is positively influenced by these variables and is statistically significant. Another
group of variables that significantly explain trade in EAC are distance between the centers of the
trade partners and number of land locked countries in the country pair. Unlike other variables in the
model,

Theme Of The Elevator
In the story the elevator the theme is facing your fears . They live in an old apartment building
with an eerie elevator. Martin and his dad live on the 3rd floor. Martin is terrified of the rickety old
elevator. Then one day he is late for school because he cannot face his fears he runs full speed down
the stairs. Then all of a sudden he trips and falls and breaks his leg. Then his dad calls him a
coward for not taking the elevator. He Should face his fears and ride the elevator because that
will make his dad realize that he is not a coward plus then he will realize that the elevator is not
going to fall or get stuck inside of it by himself (what he is afraid of). Therefore if he would have

Inhumanity of TortureI struggled without success to breathe I thought I was going to die. I lost

The Eighth Amendment states, excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed,
nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. Although it s unclear on how to measure the cruelty
on a punishment, many torture methods are undoubtedly, cruel and unusual. For example, rectal
feeding and rehydration. According to a CIA cable released in the report, his lunch tray consisting
of hummus, pasta with sauce, nuts and raisins was pureed and rectally infused . (Olivia
Laughland) Detainees, Majid Khan and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, were both subjected to rectal
feeding. Mohammed was also subjected to rectal rehydration without any medical purpose. The
definition of cruel is to willfully cause pain or suffering to others, and the definition of unusual is
not commonly occurring or done. With that being said, those acts of torture are unquestionably,
considered cruel and unusual being they both are causing pain in an uncommon way as a form of
punishment. On the other hand, some believe torture is justified. They may argue that it s
important to do whatever it takes to get the information needed, or to save the lives of others. It
could also be viewed as justice for the crimes that have been committed. An argument some have is
that the ends justify the means. The end does not justify the means. It s about being the better

Q. 1. Challenge DeVito, O Rourke and O Neill s (2000) definition of culture using Richards

Richards see it differently?
DeVito, O Rourke and O Neill s (2000, p.99) definition of culture is very limited when describing
modern cultures of globalised human society. Perhaps where people are isolated to villages, towns

Social amp; Cultural reality theory in action
Melissa Peters
Bachelor of Arts Student, Open Polytechnic
Introduction
How is it we know when to laugh, cry or shout? Or when it would be rude or inappropriate to do
so? Why is it we value integrity, honesty, respect...or not? And where do our religious or spiritual
beliefs and practices come from?
This essay looks at theories of social construction and their part in the development of cultural and
societal realities. We look at constructivism as a means of learning social norms, values, beliefs etc
using examples from the production Tapu (Smith and Haami, 2000). In particular we ll address the
theories of emotional construction and rule governing.
So what is social construction?
Social construction is the idea that our understanding of reality derives from interaction with others.
It refers to the way we create meaning and understanding to build collectively held beliefs. These
beliefs are called social constructions or constructs .
In the 1967 book, The Social Construction of Reality, Berger and Luckmann argue that all
knowledge, including the most basic, taken for granted common sense knowledge of everyday
reality, is derived from and maintained by social interactions. (Wikipedia, 2012).
Culture is a vital aspect of

Ladies Of Leadership And Feminism
I joined Ladies of Leadership because I wanted to build relationships with other women of color.
As an out of state freshman from Georgia, one of my biggest worries was making friends. Ladies
of Leadership allowed me to surround myself with a diverse group of women who provided a
positive environment and space. As cliche as it sounds I found a home away from home .
I am also interested in social justice. Specifically, inclusion of women of color in mainstream
feminism. This topic is important to me because as a woman of color I have found it difficult to
have my voice heard in the discussion of feminism. I know this struggle of feeling your voice
going unheard is not just an issue for me, but for most if not all women of color regarding feminism.

Goldfish Metabolism
Metabolism refers to the sum of all the necessary chemical processes that allow living organisms
to interconvert and use energy to maintain cellular activity. It can be subdivided into two
categories, the first process is called catabolism which is the process of breaking down molecules
to obtain energy, and the second process is called anabolism which is using energy to synthesize
molecules to sustain cellular activity (Mandal et. al, 2013). With the knowledge that all living
organisms undergo metabolic processes in order to survive, it is important that we understand the
process of metabolismand how specific changes in environmental conditions can affect overall
metabolic activity.

Army Vs. Military Army
Another change occurred, in that armies changed from being mercenary based to kingdoms
establishing their own standing armies. As a result, professional soldiers emerged which only
continued to elevate the common soldier s status in society. This occurred for a few reasons. Before
arquebuses, a state maintaining a standing army was incredibly dangerous and expensive to handle.
A standing army under a commander was mechanically difficult to manage while standing bowmen,
as stated before, required constant training to be effective. Granted, it was possible that a standing
army could be stronger than a mercenary based army, but most countries did not want to take the
continual drain on their resources. The French had developed a standing army merely out of
necessity for themselves due to the Hundred Years War. However, with arquebuses, states could
have the benefits of a standing army, but without technically having one. Once initially trained,
Arquebuses could reside in their local communities until the kingdom called them. With this,
Commanders now had to hold a better appreciation of these communities since that is where their
troops came from instead of Condottieri having to recruit their mercenary armies individually. As
the effectiveness of arquebuses continued to grow during the Italian Wars, they expectedly caught
the attention of the philosophers of the time whose works pushed these new cultural attitudes
toward the common soldier. Perhaps one of the greatest

The Civil War And Reconstruction Period Essay
The Civil War and Reconstruction period provided African American people with a legal definition
of citizenship through three constitutional amendments. Beginning with the 13th Amendment
slavery was abolished, then 14th Amendment provided equal protection under the law, and lastly
the 15th Amendment allowed all men, including African Americans, the ability to vote. However,
the transition from enslavement to freedom was a difficult and terrifying one for most black
women as they had little or no money, limited or no education and little access to it, and faced
racism that impacted every aspect of their lives. However, the Reconstruction period in America
promised African Americans a new life of freedom with the same inalienable rights provided to
other American citizens and allowed for many social reforms to take place during the late
nineteenth and early twentieth centuries due to the efforts of African Americanwomen. The period
from the 1860s to the turn of the twentieth century, or the Reconstruction period, marked a
transitional era of mixing a new socioeconomic and political infrastructure into the United States.
Reconstruction was a comprehensive era that united the once disregarded demographic groups of
African Americans into mainstream America. With emancipation of blacks throughout the nation
and the post war constitutional amendments, this period observed the historical extension of social
and political liberties to four million emancipated African Americans.

Disney and Studio Ghibli vary in their style, production, and overall themes, they both produce

In 1928, the whistling Mickey Mouse in the short cartoon Steamboat Willie led to the beginnings of

simpler way of life among all of the chaos and political instability going on at the time. This led to a
drop in productivity in China, as many Buddhists spent their time meditating. The rise in Buddhism
among the lower class led to a hate for the religion by the upper class. While some people saw
Buddhism as a new form of thinking in China s evolving social landscape, many others saw it as a
threat to the traditional Chinese way of life, as they were reluctant to change.
Buddhism was favored by the poor, uneducated people of China, as it offered assurance to a better
life. According to Document 1, the Four Noble Truths of Buddhism

Stereotypes In Cinderella
Cinderella is one of the most well known fairytale around the world. It is a story about a girl
who lives with her step mother and her 2 step sisters, she is not treated with respect, more like a
servant. She mets the prince, and then ultimately he saves her from her step mother. Cinderella
highlights key issues with gender roles and stereotypes. It suggests when determining a woman s
worth, it is based on their physical appearance, not on other aspects of them, such as personalities
or beliefs. These ideas are clearly evident in sections of the film when Cinderellais determined as
ugly because of her original rag like clothing, this idea changes when she is dressed in her ball
gown, because of this the prince falls in love with her.

Examples Of Revenge In The Count Of Monte Cristo

Revenge Has Penalties Samuel Johnson once said, Revenge is an act of passion; vengeance of
justice. Injuries are revenged; crimes are avenged. He points out that without passion one will not
have one s revenge. Passion is an essential tool to help fuel one s continuous search for revenge to
gain justice. If someone inflicts harm upon another, they should expect retribution coming their
way. This is what occurs in the adventurous, fictional novel The Count of Monte Cristowritten by
Alexandre Dumas. DantГЁs is forced to spend his youthful years in the ChГўteau d lf, a state
prison, because of Danglars , Fernand s, and Villefort s selflessness. Once he escapes he plans to

his primary one being the Count of Monte Cristo. He is introduced to Franz and Albert by Signor
Pastrini, I suppose you know that the Count of Monte Cristo lives on the same floor as you

The Pros And Cons Of Global Warming
Warming
Global warming is the gradual increase in the overall temperature of the Earth s atmosphere
generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide and
other pollutants (Collins). The current climate changes that are occurring all over the world have
sparked a growing controversy on whether global warming is true or false. Many of these
individuals who play a role in this controversy argue that the current climate changes are simply
part of the cycles seen in the earth s geological history or that it is simply caused by an increase in
the brightness of the sun. This point of view is understandable as humanity is dependent on the
climate for survival. However, many climatologists and scientists have found that the current
climate changes are much more worrisome than previous climate changes. They have found that
carbon dioxide (CO2) levels have increased over the years because of an increase in the use of
coal, oil, and gas and that the Earth s current pattern of warming is greater and faster than that of
prehistoric warming episodes.
The first argument many individuals would make against global warming is that the current
climate changes are simply part of the cycles seen in the earth s geological history. Global
warming would easily be proven correct if Earth s temperature had been stable for the majority of
its geological history. However, for over two million years, during the Ice Ages, Earth s
temperature rose and fell

How Does Malcolm X Use Ethos In The Ballot Or The Bullet

Cialdini s Six Weapons Of Influence
In Social Psychology, there are six principles of compliance that describe the tactics people use to
persuade or influence others. Also referred to as Cialdini s six weapons of influence, these six
approaches include reciprocation, commitment and consistency, social proof, friendship/liking,
authority, and scarcity. Of course, one can find examples of these persuasive techniques in
everyday life situations. However, if there is a single location where one can find examples of
these principles occurring at the same time, it would be at farmer s market. This past Sunday, I
visited the Chattanooga Farmer s Market peach festival celebration. While I was there, I noticed
there were many different venders attempting to sell their products. Each... Show more content on

Naturally, since I love hot sauce, I agreed that all the sauces were delicious. Since I agreed to
tasting each sample and giving positive feedback I made it seem as though I was committed to
the position that supported the notion that each sauce was excellent. That would have made it
more likely for me to buy a full bottle of at least one sauce. This vendor also used the foot in the
door technique in that he had me agree to a small request (sampling hot sauce), and then
presented me with a larger request when he asked me if I would like to buy a full bottle. After
this encounter, I was very convinced to buy a bottle, but I did not do so. This was because I did
not need hot sauce and I wanted to spend my money on other things. However, if I had the extra
money, I would have bought the hot sauce.
Scarcity The next vendor I stopped at was selling dog collars and leashes. I ended up buying a
faux Gucci dog collar for my dog because the vender used the principle of scarcity to convince
me to buy the collar. Initially, I approached the second booth with the intention of buying a
cheaper, more basic dog collar with no design. Then, when I encountered the fake Gucci dog
collar, I was amused and thought it was cool. However, as I was about to put to it back, the
vendor came up to me and told me that it was the last one he had in stock. He also told

A Brief Note On An Accidental Racial War
An Accidental Racial War.
An accidental fight started at school to where no parties were at fault until a circle was formed
around us showing all the students that I am white and she is black. The school was enjoying a
festival watching a talent show when a girl behind me accidently spilled her nachos on to my head,
this may have started a fight against many students primarily of opposite races and I was to blame.
I went to a public Junior High School in Long beach, CA. This was a very culturally diversified
school; the students had their clicks, as most students would call them. This is typically groups
of people of the same interests: jocks, nerds, rebels, hippies and groups of the same racial
background: African American, Caucasian, Filipino, Korean, Hispanic, or Samoan. The whole
school was treated to a festival with good food, music, games and a talent show showcasing
student performers. Some of the performers played instruments, acted out dramas, or danced.
The festival was outside in the food court area, where we typically have lunch. It was a warm
day and I was sitting by myself in a crowd of students watching the talent show. My legs were
crossed on the floor, however, feeling a bit bored I decided to wrap the straps of my backpack
around my legs tangling them. The talent show was coming to an end and the DJ started to play
some music.
When all of a sudden, the teacher announced on the microphone anyone wants to come up on
stage!? The crowd jumped up and ran

The Ghost s Deception in Shakespeare s Hamlet Essay
The Ghost s Deception in Hamlet
The Ghost in Hamlet cleared out the event that Hamlet was uncertain of. The spirit clarified the
death of King Hamlet, and caused Hamlet to perform his evil deeds. The Ghost s request to avenge
him caused the death of Hamlet s family, friends, and eventually himself; therefore, the spirit can be
viewed as evil because it failed the four tests that was set by Lewes Lavater and the Church.
Lewes Lavater describes how the church determines if a ghost is evil or good. The first description
is good spirits terrify initially, but ultimately comfort. The spirit does not cause comfort to Hamlet.
Throughout the play, the Ghost causes trouble among the characters. According to Eleanor Prosser:

The source of all these problems is the Ghost. Therefore, the Ghost is evil because it has caused the
demise and tribulations of all these characters. The spirit s original intention was this and has
fulfilled his private revenge through Hamlet.
The second way to determine if a Ghost is evil is good spirits associate with light; evil with
darkness. When the Ghost appeared to Hamlet, the environment in the play was dark. The darkness
is not only associated with the environment but also to the Ghost s words about scripture.
But that is what we are warned the Devil will do: in order to disguise himself as an angel of light,
he will clothe his naked villany with a piece of scripture. Catholics and Protestants both agreed that
the mere repetition of Christian doctrine proved nothing. Both warned that we must be alert to the
speaker s ultimate purpose. (E. Prosser, pp. 137)

Introduction:
The phrase click chemistry was invented by K. Barry Sharpless in 1998, and was first integrally
described by Sharpless, Hartmuth Kolb, and M.G. Finn of The Scripps Research Institute in
2001.[1][2]
In Chemical synthesis, Click Chemistry is a category bio compatible reactions which have
potential to be the special synthesis way of specific bio molecules. It is not an isolated specific
synthesis reaction, but include a sort of relevant products, which also engenders big molecule by
linking small specific molecules together. Usually click reactions link a bio molecule and a target
molecule. Click chemistry is not limited to biological field, the idea of a click reaction has been
applied in pharmacological and various bio mimetic applications. However, they have been made
significantly appliance in the detection, localization and qualification of bio molecules.
Click reactions are one pot reactions, which are not hindered by water, generate mineral salt and
inoffensive byproducts, and are characterized by a high thermodynamic driving

After all, he gets married, starts a family, and becomes quite successful in his chosen line of
work. With factors such as organized crimes, tensions rise, amongst other things gets Henry
further involved in the drug trade. Henry temperament changes and he comes edgy, frantic, and
unpredictable. Henry becomes overwhelmed and realizes his erratic behavior has made him a
target with some associates. Henry then enters a Witness Protection Program, freeing himself of
the crime family he always wanted to be a part of and also taking part of capturing ones who he

elements such as lighting, freeze frames, long tracking shots, jump cuts, color, and materialistic
elements to sweep the audience away and carry them along the ride of Henry s life. He created his

The Evolutionary Benefits Of Eukaryotic Cells
The evolutionary benefit of a membrane bound nucleus is that it allows for additional level of
regulating gene expression. Eukaryotic cells can effectively control the rate of mRNA transport out
of the nucleus for translation in the cytoplasm because membranes act as a barrier. Prokaryotes
which only has a single membrane can only control the rate which DNAis transcribed by regulating
activation of proteins needed for transcription/translation while eukaryotic cells can regulate gene

Analysis Of Rene Descartes s The Descartes
Rene Descartes was a French mathematician who concurred with Plato and the early scholars about
the significance of reason. Nonetheless, he found that his antecedents regularly settled their
thoughts upon what he took to be a to some degree temperamental and dubious establishment. In
this way, he starts his own venture by perceiving that all that he supposes he knows could be the
consequence of sense involvement, which can mislead us, as when we think the street is wet when
it is just a trap of light or acquired thoughts, which might be valid but additionally have not been
confirmed. As such, Descartes starts his venture with the progressive thoughtthat we may not know
anything by any stretch of the imagination with any sureness. Along these lines, Descartes chooses
to strip away the greater part of his convictions until the main ones that remain are the ones that
totally can t be questioned. Once these center convictions are set up, he reasons that he can
manufacture every single future conviction upon these bedrock bits of learning. To do this stripping
endlessly, he utilizes a progression of progressively solid otherworldly questions. We ll talk about
what happens to his quest for information in no time, yet for the time being, we should investigate
the framework he thought of to manage his request of the Cartesian Method Discourse on Method

Traditional Methods For Evaluating The Capital Investments...
Answer 1
Suggest a methodology to supplement the traditional methods for evaluating the capital
investments of your selected company in the emerging markets to reduce risk. Provide a rationale
for your suggested methodology.
Net present value in conjunction with internal rate of return are the best methods for evaluating the
capital investments of your selected company in the emerging markets to reduce risk.
Net Present Value(NPV) is the difference between the present value of cash inflows and the
present value of cash outflows. NPV is used in capital budgeting to analyse the profitability of a
projected investment or project. A positive net present value indicates that the projected earnings
generated by a project or investment (in present dollars) exceeds the anticipated costs (also in
present dollars). Generally, an investment with a positive NPV will be a profitable one and one
with a negative NPV will result in a net loss. This concept dictates that the only investments that
should be made are those with positive NPV values.
Determining the value of a project is challenging because there are different ways to measure the
value of future cash flows. Because of the time value of money (TVM), money in the present is
worth more than the same amount in the future. This is both because of earnings that could
potentially be made using the money during the intervening time and because of inflation. In other
words, a dollar earned in the future won t be worth as much as one

Oroonoko is said to be one of the earliest English slave trade novels written by author Aphra Behn.
Behn, also the first female professional writer in England, uses her personal experiences to narrate a
memoir of events leading up to Orooonko s unexpected enslavement and thereafter. Throughout the
novel, Behn often shifts narration from first person to third person omniscient expressing the
thoughts and feelings of Oroonokoas well as herself as the story unfolds. Behn also shifts between
travel narratives of the events taken place abroad the journey through the Middle Passage to
Surinam, West Indies, and biography of Oroonoko s noble characteristics. In the early events, it is
evident that Behn thinks highly of Oroonoko and they share a trusted companionship. Behn heavily
emphasizes on how Oroonoko s trust in honorable truth is constantly turned against him thus
leading him into slavery.
The novel begins with the author portraying the original natives as modest and bashful (11)
individuals, they are also compared to biblical references Adam and Eve, which conveys pre sin,
showing no sign of understanding or intentions to commit deception. And these people represented
to me an absolute idea of the first state of innocence, before man knew how to sin (11). The natives
believed that religion and laws were corrupt, therefore they only lived by trust and distrust was only

The Importance Of Honesty In The Piano Lesson
The Piano Lesson revolves around honesty, and how it fuels human nature. Berniece uses honesty
to confront her past and the memories that haunt her. Boy Willie s honesty allows him to convey
his feelings, hopes, and desires to others without hiding the truth. Doaker and Wining Boy use
their honesty to craft stories of their family s past and present. The Charles Family values
genuineness and non conformity because they consistently act with authenticity and have a history
of challenging authority and social norms. Boy Willie uses his genuineness to convey himself to
others. During an argument with Berniece, Boy Willie calls out to Doaker as he says, Berniece

A Short Story Of Eric Holt s Safe House
No one spoke a word to anyone, yet without a doubt those three knew fully what was expected of
them. When they finally arrived at Holt s safehouse, the place in question was a reasonably
medium sized house that had two floors; any other details were rendered obscured by the darkness
of a humid summer night. Once the car was parked at the curbside, almost blocking off the
driveway, Kirchner, Gerber and Sapienti got out of the car wielding a Remnant made Gustloff
Volkssturmgewehr with silencers. Together, they climbed over the fence to reach the backyard,
from which the three then stealthily snuck to the backdoor of the safehouse. Once there, Fabian
Kirchner took the responsibility of unlocking the backdoor using a lock pickingset.

A Night At The Perk

Ethnography or field research is a sociological method that explores how people live and make
sense of their lives with one another in particular places. The focus might be on understanding the
human race and the meaning they produce through everyday interactions, or places, and the
organizational logics that guide our activities (columbia.edu, 2017). A discourse community
comprises of a group of people, especially within a sphere of intellectual or social activity, who

These businesses that are run by students are very vital to the student body that is interested in
business and entrepreneurship. They should be introduced in every campus that hosts business
studies. Business students read about ventures, organizations and management in textbooks, but it s
a completely different experience while making decisions about an actual business. The thrill of
making decisions, feeling the consequences of every decision made is something that cannot be
taught. It must be experienced. This method of learning would revolutionize how business and
management is taught in universities, creating social change and bettering society (Mars, Matthew

The members of my field research discourse community The Perk would be any student that

The Perk is open to everybody, the late night hours and the location allow only students who dorm

The Expanding Demand for Energy and Other Services in...
Introduction
In today s modern society our needs and demands are infinite and fulfilling them can become a
daunting task for any developing country or nation. The Australian Federal Government is
confronted with these endless demands daily and must make decisions that are both advantageous
towards the Australian public and satisfies the rudimentary requirements and necessities of the
nation. Energy is a primary need that the Australian public requires daily and the procedures of
generating the immense amounts of electricity required for powering every day necessities is
currently being produced by the usage of fossil fuels, which has been validated to be an inefficient
method of producing energy. Nuclear energy offers a resolution and... Show more content on

Although the construction procedure of nuclear power plants will substantially deplete the countries
funds, they will eventually become a beneficial asset, producing more kilowatts than coal, wind or
solar (Burgess, 2013). As more plants are manufactured, it s anticipated that construction costs will
decline, making the expense of nuclear generated electricity that much more interesting towards the
general public, resulting in a more profitable solution towards generating energy (Burgess, 2013).
Aiding construction is jobs, therefore raising Australia s current employment rate and boosting the

Voting Behavior Analysis
They found that as a precinct has more renters or more non white voters, the turnout under VBM
elections decreases, although at different rates for different election types. Having higher rates of
college graduates in a precinct is correlated to higher turnout rates under VBM. This study was one
of the first to consider who VBM might benefit, as opposed to the less complex question of
increasing general turnout. While this research is indicative of who VBM might benefit, it relies on
precinct level data, and cannot effectively determine if individuals votingbehavior changed under
VBM. Berinsky, Burns, and Traugott (2001) extended this line of research on demographic effects
by looking to the individual voting level to determine who VBM benefitted... Show more content on

Perhaps there is something intrinsic to the state that causes the effects we have seen, such as
increased turnout for special and local elections, or increased retention of high resource voters. To
this end, the work of Kousser and Mullin (2007) is beneficial. In California, every precinct with
under 250 registrants is designated a VBM precinct. This includes two full counties, and many other
precincts throughout the state. Thus, the authors used California as a natural experiment to
investigate the effects of VBM in the 2000 and 2002 presidential and gubernational elections. To
alleviate concern from lack of random assignment, they matched precincts as closely as possible by
political context, partisan composition, and racial composition. Consist with the findings of Gronke
and Miller (2012), the authors found no positive effect of VBM on turnout in these elections, and in
fact found that VBM decreased turnout. This effect was small, but statistically significant.
However, the authors conducted a separate experiment, matching several counties that used VBM
or polling place elections to consider the effect VBM might have on local special elections (those
which fill a seat or consider a local proposition). To this end, their results are consistent with the
reviewed literature since Southwell and Burchett (2000) to indicate an increased turnout in special
elections. The authors postulate that getting the ballot in the mail may increase the salience of a
local or special election, essentially serving as a reminder to vote when the election is not
particularly salient. This serves as an excellent explanation for the indications of all studies I have
reviewed that investigated special or local elections and found turnout increases under VBM.
Perhaps it is not the convenience of a mail ballot, but in fact the salience that tends to increase
turnout. This also offers an

The Importance Of Resource Allocation And Scalability
based WCNs can easily abstract the network services as VNFs and deploy in the VMs. In the
meanwhile, it provides numbers of SB APIs to accommodate devices using specific
technologies, including WiFi, LTE, and WiMAX (see Figure 15). Fig. 15. The NFV/SDN
Architecture in WCNs. In the case of enhancing resource allocation and scalability, the
programmability of SDN allows fast service deployment and alleviates the conflicts between
different network functions. Figure 15 illustrates that SDN solutions can either be applied to the
level of AN (e.g., SoftRAN [Gudipati et al. 2013], SoftMobile [Chen et al. 2014]) or the level of
CN (e.g., SoftCell [Li et al. 2012]). Additionally, it holds to work in both the AN and CN (e.g.,
cellular SDN [Li et al. 2012]). For example, SoftRAN virtualizes a set of base stations to be a single
virtual one by leveraging the AN control plane, which improves the handover, resource assignment
and transmits power allocation. SoftMobile tackles the problems of state information distribution,
cell configuration, and real time operations between cells. Architecture [Yang et al. 2015] is
proposed to meet the 5G service trends and network architecture requirements by consolidating
NFV, SDN and cloud computing. There are control cloud, access cloud, and forwarding cloud in

The role of malice in determining the level of criminal homicide will have to do with if there was
or was not malice aforethought involved with the criminal homicide. Because malice distinguished
murder and manslaughter, it was imperative for the courts to define that term. Framers of the
Model Penal Code considered malice to be so ill defined, that they abandoned the concept altogether
in distinguishing between murderand manslaughter (Brody and Acker, 2010).

Essay On Human Genome Sequencing
1.Current challenges in human genome sequencing
Technologies in sequencing are highly accurate but have limitations in read depth and read length.
Read depth refers to sequencing the highly repetitive regions of DNA with few to no errors.
Illumina HiSeq and PacBio have allowed geneticists to fill in the gaps of the human genome saving
time and money. In the scope of the read depth issue, researchers are still having issues with
undetectable structural variants (SV) including copy number variants (CNV) and small nucleotide
polymorphisms (SNP). (Bickhart, et al. 2017).
Illumina HiSeq is one of the more accurate forms of DNA sequencing technology, about 99%
accurate. The newest version of HiSeq is TruSeq nano and NEBNext Ultra. Sequencing ... Show

New approaches to sequencing include Illumina, PacBio SMRT Chip technology and the nanopore
minION. Illumina is accurate about 99.9% of the time. PacBio is by far the most accurate of the
three sequencing technologies. Although the nanopore minION is not as accurate as PacBio SMRT
and Illumina, this technology is able to detect anomalies in the genome. All of these sequencing
technologies have a cost associated with them, but the Oxford Nanopore minION is the most
expensive.
Illumina is a less expensive way to sequence. At 99.9% accuracy, Illumina is able to provide short
read lengths to be analyzed using Phred. Phred is a base calling algorithm that calculates the
location of a fluorescent peak and records the base for that particular fluorescent label. This
technology is not ideal due to portability and sequencing prep. The DNA still has to be amplified to
create a cDNA library using bridge amplification. Illumina requires a polymerase and fluorescently
labeled dideoxynucleotide triphosphates (ddNTPs) followed by Sequencing by synthesis (SBS).
This is the final step in generating the wavelength reading of nucleotide bases. (White, et al. 2016)
The Oxford Nanopore minION sequencer is able to produce reads up to 300kb. Unlike Illumina and
PacBio, Nanopore technology can detect structural variants and cytosine modifications including
hydroxymethylcytosine, formylcytosine and methylcytosine. The purpose of this

Civil War Advantages
The North vs. The South During The Civil War There were many differences between the North
and the South during the Civil War. Most differences were a result of advantages and
disadvantages between the two sides. The Unions advantages at the time included a higher
population count, more factories, faster food production, faster transportation by railroads, and
overall, a better economy. Although minimal, the Confederacy also held specific advantages.
Southern advantages included a first rate military leader, as well as other experienced military
leadership, and highly motivated soldiers (civilwar.org, n.d.). These were both great advantages to
have during the civil war, and even led to a few defeats over the experienced and prepared Union.
The South consisted of eleven total states which succeeded from the Union in order to preserve
their beliefs on slavery, states rights, and political liberties. After succeeding, they formed the
Confederate army and prepared to fight against the Union. The North, on the other hand, consisted
of twenty three states which ultimately fought to preserve the Union and protest slavery, hopefully
leading to an end of slavery altogether. Despite the strategies each side held, the pre war
characteristics determined specifics about how each would fight. These characteristics also
provided potential reasoning as to why the fighting between the North and South began
(civilwar.org, n.d.). As stated above, the North had a greater economy than the

Nursing accounts for approximately 75% of the use of the chart and this clinical documentation is
the method used to communicate the patient s treatment plan and progress (Nelson, 2010). Since
nurses perform a large part of this documentation, they are vital to evaluate these templates to
ensure the system will allow the documentation required and that it is presented in a useful
manner. They also will be key players in assisting with the integration of the EHR into the clinical
workflow for the physician. The nurse is the most knowledgeable in the clinical workflows and
inefficiencies in the current workflow. He or she will be acutely aware the functionality or
limitations of the system and its ability to accommodate the practice patterns of the providers and
the various workflows. Physicians rely on the information they need to be in the chart when they
need it and often are unaware of the steps involved to get it there. This is where the nurse is
invaluable in identifying all of the background tasks required to achieve this. Lastly, obtaining nurse

Every year at least 1 out of 5 pregnancies are unplanned, birth control is used to prevent unwanted pregnancies it has been a concerned for humans for many years. There are many types of birth controls, one of the most common one is combination pill which is used for many purposes. One way combination pill is used is to stop ovulation due to the hormones that it produces which are estrogen, and progesterone. These two hormones control the entire process when it comes to the menstrual cycle, estrogen regulate the menstrual cycle meanwhile progesterone thickens the lining of the uterus every month. With monophasic estrogen, and progestin delivers the same amount each day, during the second stage which is biphasic they pretty much deliver the same amount of estrogen everyday but for the first 21 days. It has been proven that during the first half of the cycle the ratio of the estrogen /progestin is lowered to allow the lining of the uterus to thicken. The ratio rises during the second half of the cycle to allow the normal shedding of the lining of the uterus to occur. Meanwhile everything remains the same throughout the third category. It has been said that when birth control pills are taking correctly they are up to 99 percent effective,9 out of 10 pill users get pregnant each year. Although birth controls are meant to protect you they also have some pros and cons, one of my closest friend doctor prescribed her birth control pills to regulate her menstrual cycle, I myself is in the same predicament and it can get frustrating when the side effects occur. Unfortunately, not everyone can have full luscious lashes like the celebrities we see strutting their stuff on the red carpet. Full, healthy lashes can take about two months to regrow and generally last about three months before naturally falling out. Unhealthy lashes fall out at a much higher frequency due to their generally brittle, dry state. However, there are some easy to implement strategies which can make a real, and noticeable, impact to the growth of your own natural lashes, making them fuller, healthier and more attractive. • 4. Importance and Relevance of Cultural Stories Cultural Stories Cultural narratives reveal aspects of their indigenous culture while at the same time reflecting universal truths. This paper examines three stories that are germane to their native culture while also dealing with the universal theme of individuation, the process by which one becomes aware of oneself, distinct from other people. Each of the stories were written by authors from different cultures: Hansel and Gretel was written by The Brother s Grimm in Germany, The Wolf and The Lamb is an Aesop s Fable from Greece, and The Jungle Book is a set of stories written by Rudyard Kipling in England. Although The Wolf and The Lamb and The Jungle Book each feature animal characters, they are anthropomorphized to the extent that they still incorporate the individuation process as a prominent trope. In each of the stories, the main character undertakes the journey from innocence to experience and must learn how to assert and defend himself in the face of danger and adversity. Although Hansel and Gretel features two (eponymous) main characters rather than one, the story still addresses the need for children to undertake the process of individuation and fend for themselves rather than relying on one s elders. At the beginning of the story, Hansel and Gretel are naиЄ°ve; they rely on their parents, neither of whom can adequately care for them (they are cold and underfed), yet the two children are also unable to adequately care for themselves. For example, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Comparing Psycho And The Silence Of The Lambs Psycho (1960) and The Silence of The Lambs (1991) are both influential Horror films of their time. Psycho came with the emergence of a Psychological Horror , a subtype in the 60s in which a new trend had grown in Horror films to create a Monster out of everyday people, encouraging new fear in audiences in the US. It is based on the Novel by Robert Bloch, and explores Marion Crane in a secluded Motel after stealing a large sum of money and subsequently being murdered by Norman Bates. The Silence of The Lambs explores serial killer and cannibal, Hannibal Lecter, while he is incarcerated, and the protagonist Clarice Starling, an FBI trainee. It also focuses on Transgender Serial Killer, Buffalo Bill, who is the secondary antagonist in the film. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Critics have stated the character of Buffalo Bill is a transmisogynistic representation, stating: Silence of the Lambs actually actively promoted a transmisogynistic idea, [...] that trans women are the ultimate representation of male violence [...] Silence of the Lambs is so fundamentally a work of transmisogyny (Truitt, 2016). At the time of The Silence of The Lambs release, operations for transgender people were only approved by very sexist and homophobic criteria, based on whether the person would pass as their preferred gender after the operation. If a transgender person were to watch The Silence of The Lambs, it would probably be taken as great offense, especially as the character Buffalo Bill is repeatedly referred to by the incorrect pronouns such as he , and Hannibal Lecter even denies that she is a transgender at all. Sigmund Freud is considered to be the founder of Psychoanalytical Theory, which includes the Oedipus complex, described as a desire for sexual involvement with the parent of the opposite sex and a concomitant sense of rivalry with the parent of the same sex; a crucial stage in the normal developmental process (Anon., 2018). This theory can be applied to the character Norman Bates in Psycho, who had clear inappropriate attachments with his mother when she was alive, and continued to have these issues after he killed ... • 6. How Does Beowulf Show Courage Beowulf was a valiant, courageous, honorable warrior. Beowulf, who is the main character in the epic poem Beowulf , was widely known to possess highly sought after traits. For examples, we will use his strength, nobility, and perseverance that he displays every day of his life. However, we are going to focus on his other personality traits of honor, bravery, and courage in this very informative essay. First, let us look at Beowulfs honor. There is no question that his honor lust is earmarked in every single one of his actions. Every act he committed was contemplated and examined to be performed in the most honorable way possible. Much like the Japanese society in today s modern day and age, his decisions always were thought out to have some kind of honor. Referencing to lines 265 through 269, he remarks how Higlac, his uncle and king, would think less of him had he used a shield and sword in the battle with an unarmed monster. Sure, this may seem much like common sense, of not wanting to disappoint... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Courage, by definition, is The ability to do something that frightens one s self . This, may sound an awful lot like Bravery, the last topic that we had discussed. However, courage and bravery is not the same thing, just very similar. I will first reference lines 113 and 114, where Beowulf declared that a boat shall be outfitted for the trip from Geatland to Denmark, in order to assist the Danes with their plight. This single action alone launched us into the world of Beowulf, letting us see. Perhaps, if that is not convincing, we should look at lines 370 through 374, where Beowulf and his men stood, ready to fight, and die for their beliefs. Concluding this segment, we shall look at lines 465 through 466, where, despite being an elderly man who had ruled Geatland for fifty years, stood his ground of against the dragon, and courageously died to for the protection of ... • 7. The Direction Of Bilateral Trade Flows Across Countries Or... 4.2. Conclusion This study has indicated that there are some differences as to what determines the direction of bilateral trade flows across countries or regional economic blocs. The motives behind the formation of such arrangements disparate from region to region hence, there are differing arguments that explain the rationale for their set up. Developing countries regional blocs in general, African ones in particular, are often criticized for being politically oriented and this view has been partially supported by the study. From the above regression results and the subsequent explanations, it could be concluded that trade flow in the study area is positively impacted by real GDP in both trading partners and is statistically significant. It is also directly proportional to the population number in both countries, although the population number in the trading partners of countries in the study area is not statistically significant. In addition, regression results from the dummy variables, colonial history, membership of both trading partners in East African Community, and common membership of both trading partners in regional economic integrations outside EAC, reveals that trade is positively influenced by these variables and is statistically significant. Another group of variables that significantly explain trade in EAC are distance between the centers of the trade partners and number of land locked countries in the country pair. According to a CIA cable released in the report, his lunch tray consisting of hummus, pasta with sauce, nuts and raisins was pureed and rectally infused . (Olivia Laughland) Detainees, Majid Khan and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, were both subjected to rectal feeding. Mohammed was also subjected to rectal rehydration without any medical purpose. The definition of cruel is to willfully cause pain or suffering to others, and the definition of unusual is not commonly occurring or done. With that being said, those acts of torture are unquestionably, considered cruel and unusual being they both are causing pain in an uncommon way as a form of punishment. On the other hand, some believe torture is justified. They may argue that it s important to do whatever it takes to get the information needed, or to save the lives of others. It could also be viewed as justice for the crimes that have been committed. An argument some have is that the ends justify the means. The end does not justify the means. How do DeVito et al look at membership within a cultureand how does Richards see it differently? DeVito, O Rourke and O Neill s (2000, p.99) definition of culture is very limited when describing modern cultures of globalised human society. Social construction is the idea that our understanding of reality derives from interaction with others. It refers to the way we create meaning and understanding to build collectively held beliefs. As a result, professional soldiers emerged which only continued to elevate the common soldier s status in society. This occurred for a few reasons. Before arquebuses, a state maintaining a standing army was incredibly dangerous and expensive to handle. A standing army under a commander was mechanically difficult to manage while standing bowmen, as stated before, required constant training to be effective. Granted, it was possible that a standing army could be stronger than a mercenary based army, but most countries did not want to take the continual drain on their resources. The French had developed a standing army merely out of necessity for themselves due to the Hundred Years War. However, with arquebuses, states could have the benefits of a standing army, but without technically having one. Once initially trained, Arquebuses could reside in their local communities until the kingdom called them. With this, Commanders now had to hold a better appreciation of these communities since that is where their troops came from instead of Condottieri having to recruit their mercenary armies individually. As the effectiveness of arquebuses continued to grow during the Italian Wars, they expectedly caught the attention of the philosophers of the time whose works pushed these new cultural attitudes toward the common soldier. However, the transition from enslavement to freedom was a difficult and terrifying one for most black women as they had little or no money, limited or no education and little access to it, and faced racism that impacted every aspect of their lives. However, the Reconstruction period in America promised African Americans a new life of freedom with the same inalienable rights provided to other American citizens and allowed for many social reforms to take place during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries due to the efforts of African Americanwomen. The period from the 1860s to the turn of the twentieth century, or the Reconstruction period, marked a transitional era of mixing a new socioeconomic and political infrastructure into the United States. Reconstruction was a comprehensive era that united the once disregarded demographic groups of African Americans into mainstream America. The Pros And Cons Of Global Warming Warming Global warming is the gradual increase in the overall temperature of the Earth s atmosphere generally attributed to the greenhouse effect caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide and other pollutants (Collins). The current climate changes that are occurring all over the world have sparked a growing controversy on whether global warming is true or false. Many of these individuals who play a role in this controversy argue that the current climate changes are simply part of the cycles seen in the earth s geological history or that it is simply caused by an increase in the brightness of the sun. This point of view is understandable as humanity is dependent on the climate for survival. However, many climatologists and scientists have found that the current climate changes are much more worrisome than previous climate changes. They have found that carbon dioxide (CO2) levels have increased over the years because of an increase in the use of coal, oil, and gas and that the Earth s current pattern of warming is greater and faster than that of prehistoric warming episodes. The first argument many individuals would make against global warming is that the current climate changes are simply part of the cycles seen in the earth s geological history. That would have made it more likely for me to buy a full bottle of at least one sauce. • 38. Analysis Of Rene Descartes s The Descartes Rene Descartes was a French mathematician who concurred with Plato and the early scholars about the significance of reason. Nonetheless, he found that his antecedents regularly settled their thoughts upon what he took to be a to some degree temperamental and dubious establishment. In this way, he starts his own venture by perceiving that all that he supposes he knows could be the consequence of sense involvement, which can mislead us, as when we think the street is wet when it is just a trap of light or acquired thoughts, which might be valid but additionally have not been confirmed. As such, Descartes starts his venture with the progressive thoughtthat we may not know anything by any stretch of the imagination with any sureness. Along these lines, Descartes chooses to strip away the greater part of his convictions until the main ones that remain are the ones that totally can t be questioned. Once these center convictions are set up, he reasons that he can manufacture every single future conviction upon these bedrock bits of learning. To do this stripping endlessly, he utilizes a progression of progressively solid otherworldly questions. We ll talk about what happens to his quest for information in no time, yet for the time being, we should investigate the framework he thought of to manage his request of the Cartesian Method Discourse on Method introduces the four statutes that describe the Cartesian Method: пѓ Never acknowledge anything as genuine anything that can be ... • 42. Traditional Methods For Evaluating The Capital Investments... Answer 1 Suggest a methodology to supplement the traditional methods for evaluating the capital investments of your selected company in the emerging markets to reduce risk. Provide a rationale for your suggested methodology. Net present value in conjunction with internal rate of return are the best methods for evaluating the capital investments of your selected company in the emerging markets to reduce risk. Net Present Value(NPV) is the difference between the present value of cash inflows and the present value of cash outflows. NPV is used in capital budgeting to analyse the profitability of a projected investment or project. A positive net present value indicates that the projected earnings generated by a project or investment (in present dollars) exceeds the anticipated costs (also in present dollars). Generally, an investment with a positive NPV will be a profitable one and one with a negative NPV will result in a net loss. This concept dictates that the only investments that should be made are those with positive NPV values. Determining the value of a project is challenging because there are different ways to measure the value of future cash flows. Because of the time value of money (TVM), money in the present is worth more than the same amount in the future. This is both because of earnings that could potentially be made using the money during the intervening time and because of inflation. In other words, a dollar earned in the future won t be worth as much as one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Behn heavily emphasizes on how Oroonoko s trust in honorable truth is constantly turned against him thus leading him into slavery. The novel begins with the author portraying the original natives as modest and bashful (11) individuals, they are also compared to biblical references Adam and Eve, which conveys pre sin, showing no sign of understanding or intentions to commit deception. While this research is indicative of who VBM might benefit, it relies on precinct level data, and cannot effectively determine if individuals votingbehavior changed under VBM. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps there is something intrinsic to the state that causes the effects we have seen, such as increased turnout for special and local elections, or increased retention of high resource voters. To this end, the work of Kousser and Mullin (2007) is beneficial. In California, every precinct with under 250 registrants is designated a VBM precinct. This includes two full counties, and many other precincts throughout the state. Thus, the authors used California as a natural experiment to investigate the effects of VBM in the 2000 and 2002 presidential and gubernational elections. To alleviate concern from lack of random assignment, they matched precincts as closely as possible by political context, partisan composition, and racial composition. Consist with the findings of Gronke and Miller (2012), the authors found no positive effect of VBM on turnout in these elections, and in fact found that VBM decreased turnout. This effect was small, but statistically significant. However, the authors conducted a separate experiment, matching several counties that used VBM or polling place elections to consider the effect VBM might have on local special elections (those which fill a seat or consider a local proposition). To this end, their results are consistent with the reviewed literature since Southwell and Burchett (2000) to indicate an increased turnout in special elections. The authors postulate that getting the ballot in the mail may increase the salience of a local or special election, essentially serving as a reminder to vote when the election is not particularly salient. This serves as an excellent explanation for the indications of all studies I have reviewed that investigated special or local elections and found turnout increases under VBM. Perhaps it is not the convenience of a mail ballot, but in fact the salience that tends to increase turnout. This also offers an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fig. 15. The NFV/SDN Architecture in WCNs. In the case of enhancing resource allocation and scalability, the programmability of SDN allows fast service deployment and alleviates the conflicts between different network functions. Figure 15 illustrates that SDN solutions can either be applied to the level of AN (e.g., SoftRAN [Gudipati et al. 2013], SoftMobile [Chen et al. 2014]) or the level of CN (e.g., SoftCell [Li et al. 2012]). Additionally, it holds to work in both the AN and CN (e.g., cellular SDN [Li et al. 2012]). Illumina is accurate about 99.9% of the time. PacBio is by far the most accurate of the three sequencing technologies. Although the nanopore minION is not as accurate as PacBio SMRT and Illumina, this technology is able to detect anomalies in the genome. All of these sequencing technologies have a cost associated with them, but the Oxford Nanopore minION is the most expensive. Illumina is a less expensive way to sequence. At 99.9% accuracy, Illumina is able to provide short read lengths to be analyzed using Phred. Phred is a base calling algorithm that calculates the location of a fluorescent peak and records the base for that particular fluorescent label. This technology is not ideal due to portability and sequencing prep. The DNA still has to be amplified to create a cDNA library using bridge amplification. Illumina requires a polymerase and fluorescently labeled dideoxynucleotide triphosphates (ddNTPs) followed by Sequencing by synthesis (SBS). This is the final step in generating the wavelength reading of nucleotide bases. (White, et al. 2016) The Oxford Nanopore minION sequencer is able to produce reads up to 300kb. Most differences were a result of advantages and disadvantages between the two sides. The Unions advantages at the time included a higher population count, more factories, faster food production, faster transportation by railroads, and overall, a better economy. Although minimal, the Confederacy also held specific advantages. Southern advantages included a first rate military leader, as well as other experienced military leadership, and highly motivated soldiers (civilwar.org, n.d.). These were both great advantages to have during the civil war, and even led to a few defeats over the experienced and prepared Union. The South consisted of eleven total states which succeeded from the Union in order to preserve their beliefs on slavery, states rights, and political liberties. After succeeding, they formed the Confederate army and prepared to fight against the Union. The North, on the other hand, consisted of twenty three states which ultimately fought to preserve the Union and protest slavery, hopefully leading to an end of slavery altogether. Despite the strategies each side held, the pre war characteristics determined specifics about how each would fight.
