A Evolution Of The Late Jurassic
Charophytes are green algae that have been found in fresh water to moderately brackish water
environments. Their gyrogonites are minute oval or round calcareous bodies that represent the
calcified parts of the oogonium i. e. the female reproductive organs. Most of the plant consists of
organic matter that decays shortly after death. Under some circumstances the stems and branches of
the plant become calcified and are also preserved in the geologic record. In the absence of the
planktonic and benthonic foraminifers, ostracodes and charophytes becomes valuable biostratigraphic
tool for geologic analysis and interpretation (Carbonel, 1988; Colin Lethiers, 1988; Martin Closas
Schudack, 1996, Schudack, 2000 2006). Moreover the charophytes have been the focus of intensive
work since the early 1960, since it was hope to obtain valuable information on the dating,
biostratigraphic and paleoecology of the strata (Schudack, 2002 2004). The present study attempts a
comprehensive biostratigraphic evolution of the Late Jurassic Early Cretaceous sequence at Messak
escarpment based on the stratigraphic distribution of the charophytes species as this type of
microfossils have not been studied before in Libya as well as the study area has never been studied for
charophytes beforehand. On the basis of the stratigraphic distribution of charophytes it is possible to
subdivide the Late Jurassic Early Cretaceous sequence into four assemblage zones. These are
described in ascending

Ritz Carlton Competitive Advantage
A familiar organization and the analysis of its competitive advantages
There are several organizations that have competitive advantages in the industry. However, one
familiar organization that has maintained its competitive advantage in its industry is the Ritz Carlton
hotel. Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Chevy Chase, Maryland, United States of America, Ritz
Carlton is regarded as one of the best in the hotel industry and has received several accolades for great
customer services (Ritz Carlton Hotels Resorts, n.d.). Nevertheless, to fully understand its competitive
advantage in the industry, it is essential to analyze its modus operandi. The Ritz Carlton hotel

The organization has explicitly kept this advantageous environment over other organizations by
improving its service capacity. Additionally, the organization ensures that it stays ahead of its rivals by
engaging in research and development that focuses on luxury products and markets analysis. The Ritz
Carlton hotel uses data from its research to predict the future of the industry; therefore able to dictate
what and how the market will trend in the foreseeable future. Another factor that keeps the
organization s advantage over its rivals is that while rivals tend to become a hotel brand in the
industry, Ritz Carlton has rather position itself to be a leader and lifestyle brand that constantly
develop new properties and ensure that customers live the culture of the hotel. The final factor that has
kept the advantage of the organization intact is the culture of trust that exists between the management
and employees. The leadership of the hotel lives and communicates the organization s value to its
employees who in turn satisfy customers in a way that they often anticipate a return visit. These are
some of the reasons that the Ritz Carlton hotel continued advantageous environment over its rivals has

Critical Commentary: Quests and the Development of the Hero
The Hobbit follows the typical pattern of the Quest in many ways. Like most quest heroes, Bilbo
begins the story ignorant and untried, and he undergoes a series of preliminary adventures which help
him in two ways. First, they give him the opportunity to learn about the world and the extent and
proper use of his own powers. Second, they bring him the friends and talisman that he will need in
order to prevail in his greatest adventure, the culmination of his quest.
Because in a well constructed quest story the development of wisdom and self restraint is equally as
important as the growth of physical

On the Brink of Extinction Essay
Introduction
Biodiversity is the grand diversity of all life on Earth and the interconnections that support these forms
of life. This astonishing diversity supports the human existence by providing numerous priceless
resources such as food, fuel, and medicine. Many of these resources can not be duplicated by the
human race. For these reasons it is obvious that the environment and the biodiversity that it supports
are detrimental to human survival. There is one major problem that is growing each day, and that is the
amount of biodiversity, along with the services and benefits that is provides is diminishing. The study
of biodiversity becomes increasingly important in order to gain knowledge on how to prevent this
catastrophe. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Site 1: Provo Canyon I chose a site south of the river and about 100 feet above it. The vegetation was
beginning to provide a high level of cover on the ground which made for an even distribution of the
plant life.
Site 2: Rocky Canyon I chose a site north of the canyon and off the trails so that I may find some
undisturbed areas of vegetation. Plant life at Rock Canyon was very diverse as I discovered many new
species during my survey.
Site 3: Wymount Park I chose a site northwest of the Y symbol. The vegetation here seemed to be less
dense and not as plentiful. I observed many more types of sagebrush and grass species that bushes and
shrubs. The diversity was not as abundant as a small number of species seemed to dominate the area.
The procedural steps taken in this research project are straightforward, and remain identical for each
specific site. First, upon arrival map out an area of 15 meters squared using wooden stakes. Then
divide the area into 15 separate 1 meter by 1 meter boxes. Then assign a number to each box and write
the numbers 1 through 15 on small slips of paper. In order to insure randomization, randomly select
three slips of paper and observe these areas. Second, note each individual species in the box and the
number of that species. Record the data, and reference a field guide to give specific names to each
plant species. In order to accurately measure the amount of

PSYCHOPATHY OR ANTISOCIAL PERSONALITY DISORDER 2.
Abstract
This paper will focus on the relevance of assessing psychopathy or antisocial personality disorder. The
importance of the assessment and the adjudication process will also be discussed.
Key words: psychopathy, antisocial personality disorder, violence recidivism.
PSYCHOPATHY OR ANTISOCIAL PERSONALITY DISORDER 3.
According to Pinel (1801) psychopathy is defined as persons with complete cognitive capacity but
these persons experienced spontaneous and antisocial behavior. These persons suffered from mania
without insanity. Pinel (1801) in his description was distinguishing those persons whose unlawful acts
and depraved acts were due to mental deficiencies or psychopathology as opposed to those with no
indication of any mental defects. Psychopathy has a strong connection to violent behavior and
recidivism. Research indicates that persons with high levels of psychopathy are more likely to
continue instrumental violent behavior when compared to those person s with lower levels of
psychopathy Jackson, R. (2008). Mannerisms connected to this behavior are grandiosity and arrogance
which are frequently found in psychopaths . According to a study completed by Williamson, Hare and
Wong (1987), criminals with high PCL R scores

The Conservation Assessment Of Common Trout And Colorado...
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this conservation assessment is to provide land managers and the general public with
an overview of the distribution and status of common trout (brook trout Salvelinus fontinalis; brown
trout Salmo trutta; and rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss) on the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, and
Gunnison National Forests (hereafter, GMUG). Common trout species are part of a suite of
Management Indicator Species (MIS) ...which are monitored during forest plan implementation in
order to assess the effects of management activities on their populations and the populations of other
species with similar habitat needs which they may represent (Forest Service Manual 2620.5). MIS
assessments are revised every five years and each is a synthesis of the most recent field based
observations and peer reviewed science pertaining to the species.
Common trout and Colorado River cutthroat trout (O. clarkii stomias) are MIS representing aquatic
habitats on the GMUG. A variety of land management activities can affect lake and stream habitats,
including traditional forestry practices, road construction and maintenance, fire and fuels
management, and water development. The presence of MIS species in a watershed is not an obstacle
to active forest management. On the contrary, MIS species are used by Forest personnel to gauge the
response of the entire forest ecosystem to land management projects we implement. In particular,
common trout were selected to assess effects of

Paul Ekman and His Study on Facial Expressions
Paul Ekman was born in 1934 and at age 14 his mother committed suicide after suffering from severe
bi polar disorder. At that point, he decided he wanted to study facial expressions of emotion in order to
assist other people before such tragic outcomes occurred. By the time he was 15, he had enrolled in
University of Chicago and became interested in group therapy. He earned his Bachelor s degree in
1954 and in 1958 he had earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Adelphi University. His Master s
thesis was about the study of facial expressions and body movement. From 1960 to 2004 he worked at
the University of California and starting in 1963 he received continual research grants from the
National Institute of Mental Health for 40 years to study nonverbal behavior.
Paul Ekman was influenced by Charles Darwin s book titled, The Expression of Emotions in Man and
Animals, originally published in 1872. Charles Darwin used photos, drawings and body postures from
animals and humans and compared them with facial expressions and emotions. For instance, a
growling dog has many facial features similar to an angry human. Darwin argued that the existence of
these similarities demonstrates that emotional expression must have evolved through natural selection
in the same way that other characteristics evolved. He further contended that the expressions must
serve a function; they enhance survival of the organism . (Reevy, G. 2010 Encyclopedia of Emotion

The Mandans have prospered due to their adaptable and unique civilization. They have anomalous

that they have made are the traditional Native American teepee which they only used for their
nomadic trips in which they are following their prey, bison and other animals. Their more permanent
homes were called earth lodges and were extremely simplistic in design, yet functioned sufficiently.
The earth lodges were just holes in the ground with a kind of dome covered with dirt and materials of
that type. In the 19th century the Mandan lived in dome shaped earth lodges clustered in stockaded
villages; their economy centred on raising corn (maize), beans, pumpkins, sunflowers, and tobacco
and on hunting buffalo, fishing, and trading with nomadic Plains tribes (Source C). To make things
easier and more efficient the Mandans also were able to create weapons and tools. They were usually

different weapons were shields, clubs, and lances. Mandan hunters used bows and arrows. In war,
Mandan men fired their bows or fought with war clubs and hide shields (Source A) Clothing was also

My Life Has Been A Rollercoaster, With Many Ups And Downs
My life has been a rollercoaster, with many ups and downs. I am thankful for the ups and downs. The

myself a fusion of both cultures. During the mid 80s, my parents were growing up under the

The Failure of the League of Nations and the Outbreak of War in 1939
There are many causes for the outbreak of the Second World War. These include the failure of the
League of Nations, the Treaty of Versailles, Hitler s actions and so on. Some of them are more
important then others and are mostly linked with another cause.
The failure of the League of Nations was one of the main reasons for the outbreak of war. It exposed
weaknesses which encouraged Hitler to invade. The League had failed to resolve the major political
disputes. There were a number of such incidents but the most important ones were the Manchurian
Crisis, 1931 and the Abyssinian Crisis, 1935. In 1931, the members of the League ... Show more

The League of Nations was established after World War One to keep peace, one of its functions was to
uphold the Treaty of Versailles. This led a lot of people to feel that the League is a force representing
the winners of the First World War against the Germans. This made people to connect it with the
harshness of the Treaty and so led to a lack of trust in the League of Nations. For example the
Germans were bitter that they had to accept the total blame for starting the war and hated the fact they
had to pay reparations of £6,600,000,000 and didn t want anything that stood for it.
Hitler saw all these weaknesses of the League and believed that if he invaded a country the League
would be unable to stop him. This was a very important reason because if Hitler thought he had
powerful oppositions, he might not have started war.
Versailles was the peace treaty made at the end of the First World War and another cause of the
Second World War. It caused a lot of resentment in Germany, as it was seen by its people (and by other
countries) as extremely harsh. Germany had to pay a large amount of reparations, which it could not
afford to do so since the War had also damaged the German economy. The Treaty demanded
disarmament of Germany and demilitarisation of the

Negotiation, when Dr. Ting Toomey suggests conflict is a consequence of identity management on an
individual and cultural level, she means that culture has a significant impact in regards to identity
management. One s culture has defined rules as to how someone is to properly interact amongst other
individuals and groups, and these rules include values, norms, beliefs and traditions. Generally, an
individual would strive to adhere and follow all of their culture s rules, and in turn, would view
another individual turning against those rules as a threat to their overall culture or beliefs. Similarly,
Dr. Ting Toomey states that conflict can come from a clash of these rules, a misinterpretation, or as a
result of misapplying certain expectations and standards for behavior for a given situation (Griffin List
). The Face Negotiation theory suggests there are three goals that any conflict will revolve around;
content, relational and identity, or rather, needs, interests or goals. Based on M. Afzalur Rahim s work,
Dr. Ting Toomey and later John Oetzel, identified eight distinct responses to conflicting situations
based on an incompatibility (Griffin

Ambition And Detection In Seth Gordon s Film King Of Kong
Seth Gordon s documentary King of Kong produced in 2007 is a very competitive and tensing video.
It expresses the gamers as very focused individuals and explains the hunger of winning for them. The
director Seth Gordon shows a contrast between ambition and obsession through codes and convection
as well as characteristics. The codes and conventions in the documentary also play a vital role in
portraying different aspects of personalities in different characters. They change your perspective
about certain people or events and make you more aware of what is going on. Billy Mitchell, one of
the players in the documentary, was shown extremely logical and very professional. In disparity with,
Steve Wiebe, another gamer, who was portrayed as a very hardworking and ambitious man. Having
said that, there were other characters in the documentary which helped shape these two players
identity and portrayal. Seth Gordon succeeds in persuading us to think a particular type of way
towards different roles played in the documentary. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Director has shown the audience that without gaming, Billy would be nothing but a person selling

the other hand, Steve was shown more of a family guy and talented. You can see these qualities in him
as he was filmed in many different places, such as, the playground, Swimming pool and also in his

adding a clip of Steve playing basketball and teaching. By all this evidence, you can see that the
director tried to show Steve as the good guy and portrayed him as a friendly and gifted

Alien Life Search
Hale 1
Support For Alien Life Search Alone Is defined as separate, apart, or isolated from others ( Alone ).
Individuals can be alone, but the Earth is a little less clear. Whether the Earth is alone in having the
ability to sustain life or if there is more out there in the vast darkness of space is a huge mystery. The
possibility of life beyond the green planet is highly debated. The debate is held within scientific
communities as well as the public. However mathematically, existence on Earth being the only source
of life in the universe is incredibly slim. Organizations such as SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial
Intelligence) use math to try to figure out the amount of potential life in the universe with the Drake

Scientists have been baffled by the existence of life on Earth where conditions have been thought to be
uninhabitable. The existence of these extremophile species, organisms living in conditions thought to
be unable to sustain life, on earth gives a boost to the possibility of outside life. Science also does not
have a full grasp on exactly what conditions are necessary to cause life to bloom (McAlpine). Just
because life is thought to only be able to thrive in certain conditions on Earth, does not mean
extraterrestrial life is bound by the same rules, especially if terrestrial species are known to
occasionally break the rules. Discovery of life existing away from planet Earth that does not meet the
preceded notions of what life must be like would lead scientists to better understand how life functions
and performs under countless situations and conditions. Space itself supports this as we ve discovered
things such as oceans in places we thought they couldn t exist (Drake). Oceans on earth are home to
millions of species and are hubs for aforementioned extremophile species, most of which remain
unknown to modern science. Since oceans on Earth are teeming with mysterious undiscovered life,
there is no telling what awaits at the bottom of deep space oceans. If scientists can understand how
species may be able to thrive in previously thought to be unlivable conditions, scientists can use those
discoveries to help humanity explore areas that would otherwise be perilous. Or perhaps, scientists
could potentially use understandings of extraterrestrial life to help humanity form a second home

Reflection Paper On Weight
When I was in high school I was one of the smallest member in all of my classes, I joined the cross
country team and was among one of the fastest runners in my school but after I graduated I had a new
goal to gain weight and put an ending to just skin and bones. To begin with, I chose to achieve gaining
ten pounds in the four weeks of my psychology class. The reason why I chose this is because all my
life I have struggled to gain weight, I would go through tubs of protein and eat whatever my heart
desired and I would always stay the same weight. After joining the military I was able to plan out my
meals and with the exceeded workout plans every day I was able to put some weight on my body, but
yet my metabolism was still too fast and I would rapidly lose the weight I had worked so hard to gain.
My metabolism was so fast I even considered too stop exorcising and ate junk food for a whole month
but quickly realized that was not the right route to go.
Starting my weight gaining goal for these four week project helped me get back into the rhythm I had
once lost. The first week was the hardest, I had to go back and reorganize how I lived my day to day
life. First I had to relearn all about nutrition and what foods would help me achieve my ten pound goal
by the end of the four weeks. I had to make sure I ate enough calories throughout the day and
compensate the calories that I would burn with and without working out, so I started my plan off with

The Fate of The Donner Party Essay
Desperate times call for desperate measures. This advice has been used as a way to justify
questionable actions in times of despair for many years. Following the advice, the Donner Party did
whatever they could to survive. Stuck in a snowstorm, the group is believed to have reverted back to
animalistic ways, and devoured each other to survive. While no one knows the truth of that fateful
winter, many agree that cannibalism was their main form of survival. Though the Donner Party s
travels were not well documented and many details remain controversial, it is evident that they

history as not just a tragic tale, but the Great American Dream gone awry (Diamond, 1). Still today, it
is unclear whether the Donner Party resorted to cannibalism as a means of survival. The events have
been associated with cannibalism by so many and for so long that the undeclared verdict of the
Donner Party is that they did in fact resort to cannibalism. Certainly there are arguments that disagree
with this, but it is quite apparent that the party is guilty of anthropophagy. The most common
argument against the cannibalism theory is that the party used their basic survival skills; they ate small
game rather than each other to stay alive. Despite being a valid point, there are weaknesses with that
belief. Early on in their excursion the party quickly exhausted their food supply. Fearing they were in
for the worst, the group sent 15 group members out for help and sure enough a snow storm trapped
them on November 1, 1846. Any available animals were eaten first and when that food source became
scarce, they turned to eating their pets like the family dog. They were enduring extreme starvation
after just nine days which lead to important decisions regarding their survival. In other words, a
discussion regarding cannibalism had begun (Diamond, 2). This is where the eating small game belief

Shortly after getting involved with local Farmers Guild, which now has 11 chapters, I realized the dire

Owner of Petaluma Creamery worked in agriculture as a young man picking prunes and raspberries.
He washed milk bottles; bottle fed calves, and drove a forklift for ten years while he learned the
business. He saved his money, bought run down houses, fixed them up, and rented them out. In doing
research, I found farmers and ranchers earned a median annual income of nearly $61,000 in 2010,
according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. (1) Seven of the 10 best paying U.S. cities for
farmers were in California, ranking at $80,0000 $87,000 annually. According to a recent report

A Good Man Is Hard For Find By Flannery O Connor
In A Good Man Is Hard to Find , Flannery O Connor presents to the readers an uncanny encounter
between a murderer named The Misfit and a grandmother. The two characters when first introduced
seem to be antithesis of each other. This misfit is described as a murderer who seems to have no
morals or feelings, while the grandmother seems to embody a good Christian woman. Throughout the
plot, it is known that the misfit is not much of a believer and the grandmother is. Due to the fact that O
Connor wrote a lot about religion, it is not hard to figure out the connection she tries to make between
the characters and religion. In A Good Man Is Hard to Find , Flannery O Connor uses both the misfit s
and the grandmother s circumstances and behavior in order to show the readers how the old and new
generations feel towards religion. Throughout the plot she uses the Misfit to portray the new
generation and uses the grandmother to portray the older generation. O Connor talks about the
generations in such ways that show that the older generations seemed to believe heavily in religion but
in the wrong way, and the new generation is misguided with little to no religious affiliations. From the
beginning, the grandmother seems to be an old fashioned southern lady who is the epitome of a good
Christian woman. She puts up a front that makes her seem like a true Christian, when in reality she is
not really strong in her beliefs up until her confrontation with the misfit. Before the

Refugee Blues By W. H. Auden
Born in England on February 21st, 1907, W. H. Auden was an English poet who wrote many poems
based on his personal experiences. In 1928, Auden left Britain and headed to Berlin for nine months.
During that period of time, he witnessed the rise of the Nazi party and the racial prejudice towards the
Jews. This, as well as the failure of the Evian Conference and Kristallnacht (night of broken glass),
influenced him to write the poem Refugee Blues in 1939, which was prior to the breakout of World

Nervous Conditions narrates the harsh experiences of women in Africa who happen to be subjected to
the patriarchal system and to the colonized regime. In Imperial leather, Anne McClintock indicates
that, colonized women, before the intrusions of imperial rule, were invariably disadvantaged within
their societies, in ways that gave the colonial reordering of their sexual and economic labor very
different outcome from those of colonized men (6).Women s experience of colonization by this sense
is enormously different from that of men and their experience of colonization upholds influences on
women s life, relations, status and roles within their own imperial societies. The colonized women
must
negotiate not only the imbalances of their relations with their own men but also the baroque and
violent array of hierarchal rules and restrictions that structured their relations with imperial men and

Comparing Macbeth And Great Expectations
There are more than enough examples from Macbeth and Great Expectations to prove that subversion
of gender roles, a term that describes someone acting in a way that is not expected from those of their
said gender, is evident in both writing pieces. There are a number of connections between the women
of the play and novel; this can be seen in their stern, powerful and leader like and always changing
personalities that a number of female characters share. For instance, Miss Havisham s burning hatred
for men that she implemented into Estella s mind, to Lady Macbeth s level of ambition to have her
husband become king. Others include similarities in levels of knowledge, even though they were
considered commoners on a part of the social ladder where a lack of knowledge is expected, and
examples of how they use their high levels of knowledge to their advantage. This can also be
considered evidence of subversion of gender roles; women at the time were not expected to be
knowledgeable by society as they are now. Other connections would be based on the topic of visual
appearance overall, with connections to how they portray themselves to other characters and the
reader throughout. The women of these two works show an exceptionable amount of power, control
and capability of holding a family together a number of times throughout the novel and the play. A
leading factor in this is their personalities they spoke their mind, and were not afraid of the
consequences. which happen to be

Chromosomes Vs Dna Of Apple And Banana
Chromosomes vs DNA of an Apple and Banana
Introduction
The genetic blueprint of all living thing is Deoxyribonucleic Acid or DNA. The chromosomes are
thread like structures located inside the nucleus of plant cells and are up of protein and a single
molecule of DNA. An apple contains 34 chromosomes and a banana contains 22 chromosomes. The
purpose of this experiment was to see if the number of chromosomes effect the amount of DNA in an
apple and a banana. DNA is extracted from the apple and banana. The type of fruit was the only thing
not changed in the experiment making it the independent variable. The amount of DNA is what is
being measured, making it the dependent variable. Any living thing contains DNA, however, the skin
of the fruit must be removed as it does not contain DNA because it is mostly dead.

intelligence. Since Spanish is Elena s first language she is forbidden from taking honor classes,
because of the supposed language barrier (Judith Ortiz Cofer pg 244). Elena is obviously prospering in
all her class and the only thing that is holding her back from a more challenging education is the fact
that she learned Spanish before English. Elena can speak clearly and she comprehends English but
they still don t give her a chance. Despite being the intellectual equal of Eugene, he was allowed in all
honor classes for all his subjects and she was not. The school is depriving her and other bilingual
students of the chance to better themselves through education because of the prejudices and
misinformed beliefs that they have about ESL

The Crimes That Go Against One s Morals And Value System
Mala in se or mala prohibita are crimes that go against one s morals and value system. These are
criminal activities, which do not comply with the mandates of the land. However, these crimes or
crimes can distort or clouds one s judgments in regards to these regulations/ policies. These criminal
offenses are actions in which the standards of society are stretched to the limit. The crime was various
with the population demographic of the region where the actual crime was committed. These are
brutal crimes that are view as illegal, which possess a threat, risk, and harm to one s individual self or
others. Offenses such as these are often banned or may even be considered as global mandates.
Consequently, these terms often share common regulations along with strategies, which may be
supported by their standards. The standards often entail particular specification which upheld these
statutes or regulation in regards to these by laws being that the courts have the final say in regards to
these types of criminal activities. I think that an illegal drug dealer, prostitution, and a gambling fit are
each simple crimes but goes against most morals and values; therefore, these crimes would be
considered to be just wrong. For example, with the drug dealer if he/she decides to sell these drugs to
others then this puts the consumer in harm s way. Sometimes this individual can be viewed as a
potential risk or threat to himself as well. In examining the prostitution arena, I think this

Antigone And Creon Essay
The play Antigone has many complex and some not so complex characters and that is what makes it
very easy to create juxtapositions within and throughout the play. Creon was a very basic character in
the beginning of the play and proved to be a simple character that believed in one thing that created
conflicts. Others added on and together that is where dialogue in the play fills in empty spaces in the
play. Conflicts are what makes this play more interesting to the reader. The biggest contrasting
character is Creon because of the conflict that he has with Antigone. The line in the second part of the
play is the part that sets all the other parts up with depth or good future dialogues Creon says He ll be
left unburied, his body there for the birds and dogs to eat, a clear reminder of his shameful fate. (line
234 236). Antigone looks at creon as one who does what he thinks is right without thinking thoroughly
and that is why she goes back to her brother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Haemon, his son even ends up coming into the story because of his arguments with Ismene. The son is
one of the less spoken about characters since he does not play a big role but is rather thrown into the
story without much context. The first two lines in the fourth part of the play Ismene says You re going
to kill your own sons bride? And as Creon replies in return Why not? There are other fields for him to
plough. (Line 650 651). Ismene is brought up a lot through the play and we do get a lot of FaceTime
with her but she does not contrast with anyone until Antigone is on trial almost and that is when it
does not add anything to the argument. Emotion can be a deciding factor in a lot of choices and in
Creon s case his emotions are all jumbled up when he finds out he ruined his own

  • 2. A Evolution Of The Late Jurassic Charophytes are green algae that have been found in fresh water to moderately brackish water environments. Their gyrogonites are minute oval or round calcareous bodies that represent the calcified parts of the oogonium i. e. the female reproductive organs. Most of the plant consists of organic matter that decays shortly after death. Under some circumstances the stems and branches of the plant become calcified and are also preserved in the geologic record. In the absence of the planktonic and benthonic foraminifers, ostracodes and charophytes becomes valuable biostratigraphic tool for geologic analysis and interpretation (Carbonel, 1988; Colin Lethiers, 1988; Martin Closas Schudack, 1996, Schudack, 2000 2006). Moreover the charophytes have been the focus of intensive work since the early 1960, since it was hope to obtain valuable information on the dating, biostratigraphic and paleoecology of the strata (Schudack, 2002 2004). The present study attempts a comprehensive biostratigraphic evolution of the Late Jurassic Early Cretaceous sequence at Messak escarpment based on the stratigraphic distribution of the charophytes species as this type of microfossils have not been studied before in Libya as well as the study area has never been studied for charophytes beforehand. On the basis of the stratigraphic distribution of charophytes it is possible to subdivide the Late Jurassic Early Cretaceous sequence into four assemblage zones. These are described in ascending ... Second, they bring him the friends and talisman that he will need in order to prevail in his greatest adventure, the culmination of his quest. INTRODUCTION The purpose of this conservation assessment is to provide land managers and the general public with an overview of the distribution and status of common trout (brook trout Salvelinus fontinalis; brown trout Salmo trutta; and rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss) on the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, and Gunnison National Forests (hereafter, GMUG). Common trout species are part of a suite of Management Indicator Species (MIS) ...which are monitored during forest plan implementation in order to assess the effects of management activities on their populations and the populations of other species with similar habitat needs which they may represent (Forest Service Manual 2620.5). MIS assessments are revised every five years and each is a synthesis of the most recent field based observations and peer reviewed science pertaining to the species. Common trout and Colorado River cutthroat trout (O. clarkii stomias) are MIS representing aquatic habitats on the GMUG. A variety of land management activities can affect lake and stream habitats, including traditional forestry practices, road construction and maintenance, fire and fuels management, and water development. The presence of MIS species in a watershed is not an obstacle to active forest management. On the contrary, MIS species are used by Forest personnel to gauge the response of the entire forest ecosystem to land management projects we implement. • 14. Paul Ekman and His Study on Facial Expressions Paul Ekman was born in 1934 and at age 14 his mother committed suicide after suffering from severe bi polar disorder. At that point, he decided he wanted to study facial expressions of emotion in order to assist other people before such tragic outcomes occurred. By the time he was 15, he had enrolled in University of Chicago and became interested in group therapy. He earned his Bachelor s degree in 1954 and in 1958 he had earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Adelphi University. His Master s thesis was about the study of facial expressions and body movement. From 1960 to 2004 he worked at the University of California and starting in 1963 he received continual research grants from the National Institute of Mental Health for 40 years to study nonverbal behavior. Paul Ekman was influenced by Charles Darwin s book titled, The Expression of Emotions in Man and Animals, originally published in 1872. Charles Darwin used photos, drawings and body postures from animals and humans and compared them with facial expressions and emotions. For instance, a growling dog has many facial features similar to an angry human. Darwin argued that the existence of these similarities demonstrates that emotional expression must have evolved through natural selection in the same way that other characteristics evolved. He further contended that the expressions must serve a function; they enhance survival of the organism . (Reevy, G. 2010 Encyclopedia of Emotion (Vol. 2, pp. 410 411). I believe ... The League of Nations was established after World War One to keep peace, one of its functions was to uphold the Treaty of Versailles. This led a lot of people to feel that the League is a force representing the winners of the First World War against the Germans. This made people to connect it with the harshness of the Treaty and so led to a lack of trust in the League of Nations. For example the Germans were bitter that they had to accept the total blame for starting the war and hated the fact they had to pay reparations of £6,600,000,000 and didn t want anything that stood for it. Hitler saw all these weaknesses of the League and believed that if he invaded a country the League would be unable to stop him. This was a very important reason because if Hitler thought he had powerful oppositions, he might not have started war. Some additional information includes, that according to Stella Ting Toomey s Home on the Web, Dr. Ting Toomey has held major leadership roles in international communication associations and has served on more than fifteen editorial boards ( Stella ). To further explain the theory of Face Negotiation, when Dr. Ting Toomey suggests conflict is a consequence of identity management on an individual and cultural level, she means that culture has a significant impact in regards to identity management. One s culture has defined rules as to how someone is to properly interact amongst other individuals and groups, and these rules include values, norms, beliefs and traditions. Generally, an individual would strive to adhere and follow all of their culture s rules, and in turn, would view another individual turning against those rules as a threat to their overall culture or beliefs. Similarly, Dr. Ting Toomey states that conflict can come from a clash of these rules, a misinterpretation, or as a result of misapplying certain expectations and standards for behavior for a given situation (Griffin List ). The Face Negotiation theory suggests there are three goals that any conflict will revolve around; content, relational and identity, or rather, needs, interests or goals. Based on M. Following the advice, the Donner Party did whatever they could to survive. Stuck in a snowstorm, the group is believed to have reverted back to animalistic ways, and devoured each other to survive. While no one knows the truth of that fateful winter, many agree that cannibalism was their main form of survival. Still today, it is unclear whether the Donner Party resorted to cannibalism as a means of survival. The events have been associated with cannibalism by so many and for so long that the undeclared verdict of the Donner Party is that they did in fact resort to cannibalism. Certainly there are arguments that disagree with this, but it is quite apparent that the party is guilty of anthropophagy. The most common argument against the cannibalism theory is that the party used their basic survival skills; they ate small game rather than each other to stay alive. Despite being a valid point, there are weaknesses with that belief. Early on in their excursion the party quickly exhausted their food supply. Fearing they were in for the worst, the group sent 15 group members out for help and sure enough a snow storm trapped them on November 1, 1846. Any available animals were eaten first and when that food source became scarce, they turned to eating their pets like the family dog. They were enduring extreme starvation after just nine days which lead to important decisions regarding their survival. In other words, a discussion regarding cannibalism had begun (Diamond, 2). This misfit is described as a murderer who seems to have no morals or feelings, while the grandmother seems to embody a good Christian woman. Throughout the plot, it is known that the misfit is not much of a believer and the grandmother is. Due to the fact that O Connor wrote a lot about religion, it is not hard to figure out the connection she tries to make between the characters and religion. In A Good Man Is Hard to Find , Flannery O Connor uses both the misfit s and the grandmother s circumstances and behavior in order to show the readers how the old and new generations feel towards religion. Throughout the plot she uses the Misfit to portray the new generation and uses the grandmother to portray the older generation. O Connor talks about the generations in such ways that show that the older generations seemed to believe heavily in religion but in the wrong way, and the new generation is misguided with little to no religious affiliations. Comparing Macbeth And Great Expectations There are more than enough examples from Macbeth and Great Expectations to prove that subversion of gender roles, a term that describes someone acting in a way that is not expected from those of their said gender, is evident in both writing pieces. There are a number of connections between the women of the play and novel; this can be seen in their stern, powerful and leader like and always changing personalities that a number of female characters share. For instance, Miss Havisham s burning hatred for men that she implemented into Estella s mind, to Lady Macbeth s level of ambition to have her husband become king. Others include similarities in levels of knowledge, even though they were considered commoners on a part of the social ladder where a lack of knowledge is expected, and examples of how they use their high levels of knowledge to their advantage. This can also be considered evidence of subversion of gender roles; women at the time were not expected to be knowledgeable by society as they are now. Other connections would be based on the topic of visual appearance overall, with connections to how they portray themselves to other characters and the reader throughout.
