Insanity and Madness in A Rose For Emily and Yellow...
Insanity in A Rose For Emily And The Yellow Wallpaper The women in Faulkner s and Gilman s
stories are victims of male over protectiveness. The men that rule their lives trap Emily in A Rose For
Emily and the narrator of The Yellow Wallpaper . Each character must retreat into their own world as
an escape from reality. Emily is destroyed by her father s over protectiveness. He prevents her from
courting anyone as none of the young men were quite good enough for Miss Emily and such (82).
When her father dies, Emily refuses to acknowledge his death; [W]ith nothing left, she . . . [had] to
cling to that which had robbed her (83). When she finally begins a relationship after his death, she
unfortunately falls for Homer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After living so long as a victim of loneliness perpetrated by her father, Emily decides that she will be
vindicated she will have her man. She orders a toiletry set to be engraved with Homer s initials,
purchases an outfit and a nightshirt for him, and buys the arsenic that is to seal his fate. When the
townspeople enter her house for the first time in forty years, they find a bridal tomb: a tarnished
toiletry set, a neatly pressed suit, and a rotting Homer Baron clad in the nightshirt wearing a profound
and fleshless grin (87). Just as Emily is destroyed by her father s over protectiveness, the first person
narrator of The Yellow Wall Paper, is secluded from both life and reality by her over protective
husband. The narrator is both creative and eccentric; her husband is practical in the extreme (160). She
believes that congenial work, with excitement and change, would do [her] good (160). Her husband,
however, believes in the strength of conventional medicine such as the rest cure for nervous diseases
(164). Like Emily s father who denies her a family and a life of her own, the husband of Gilman s
narrator denies not only her desire to write, but also her craving for society and stimulus as she
struggles to find a creative outlet (160). This appears a type of solitary confinement for such a creative
being, and it should come as no surprise that she is crazed after months of lying in bed with no

Acute Myeloid Leukemia Essay
Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is the most common form of leukemia in adults, approximately
20,800 people are diagnosed each year, leading to the lowest survival rate of all of the leukemias. It is
a category of cancer of the blood and also the bone marrow (the soft inner part of some bones), and
inside the spongy bone where blood cells are created. The average age for this type of leukemia is 65
or older, and is also generally more common in males rather than females. Acute Myeloid Leukemia is
cured in 35 40% of people less than 60 years old and 5 15% in people older than 60 years old. If
untreated, it can be fatal, and also it can spread to other parts of the body, including organs and tissues.
Doctors still do not know what causes AML due to the fact that most people with this disease do not
have risk factors that can be altered. Treatment of the AML always depends on the subtype of AML,

French, American, and Birtish leukemias experts divided AML into 8 types, M0 M7, this classification
is based on the type of the type of cell and its degree of development. This was based largely on how
the leukemia cells looked under the microscope after routine staining. Knowing the degree of AML, or
subtype, can be important due to the fact that helps both the patient s outlook and treatment options.
M0 is minimally differentiated acute myeloblastic leukemia, and this type is extremely rarely seen.

Theme Of Class Struggle In A Tale Of Two Cities
A Tale of Two Cities is a novel by Dickens written in 1859. It is one of the most famous productions
of world literature. Dickens first purpose was to publish this work through a newspaper. In fact, he
ended up publishing his novel in his All the Year Round literary magazine for 31 weeks. The novel is
set place in London and Paris and is shaped around one of the most restless periods of history, the
French Revolution. Charles Dickens tries to show the insight of the French Revolution in which the
bourgeoisie and aristocrat class carried out a bloody strife on the lower classes. Dickens displays this
in a very realistic and frustrated fiction. The novel basically revolves around the lives of its characters
before and after French Revolution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Book 1, Chapter 7) This shows that no matter what the case is, if you are lower in class you lose.
Dickens portrayed class struggle as one of the main causes of the Revolution. If we compare the
pictures Dickens painted to the information in historical sources we will see that he is accurate. There
was political turmoil among the upper classes, huge population growth among the peasants, and
frustrated bourgeois class. (Revolution and Masters)
Dickens continues to illustrate corrupted power. Monseigneur s cruel philosophy illustrates the
mindset that has crept into the most privileged class and demonstrates how power can corrupt. The
contrast between his philosophy and his nephew s beliefs further underscores the suffering of the
masses. (Book 2, Chapter

Lyndon B. Johnson s Presidency
Every president has had to start somewhere in politics. Every single one of them has had some sort of
political experience before they ran for president except the exceptional rule breaker, Donald Trump.
Lyndon B. Johnson was no different. As a fourteen year old boy, he made up his mind that he was not
going to play into the system but he was going to overcome it and get out of Johnson City. However,
this long and difficult path that he decided to take would eventually sculpt him into the decent
president he became later on in his life. First dilemma that he faced was his family s financial

The Economic Developments Of Nike And Adidas

The Influence Of Public Policy In The United States
Public Policy is the way that our Executive branch of government help maintain the order of the
country as well as the needs of its citizens. Of course, no one system can be individually perfect and
solve all issues. But the public policies in the United States have been molded on off racial prejudices
in the past, and off legacy racism in the present. Discrimination that affects the racial dynamic of most
urban cities in the nation. In this course we have discussed the necessity for public policy and the
ways in which it affects this nation. Public Policy our government and the citizens that have an impact

Public policy has influenced philanthropists to do some of the beneficial deeds they have done over
the years. That will not only benefit themselves, but also select communities and groups of people. On
the other hand, public policy has also helped with the creation of laws that do not necessarily benefit
the people . Laws and bills passed such as the Bill of Rights or the Fair Housing Act of 1968.
Although there are actions being executed by the government, sometimes they are not as beneficial as
they were intended to be. Regular citizens as well as executives of the law can sometimes find ways to
misuse or bypass the intentions of the law for their own personal purposes. One thing I have learned is
that racism, inequality, and inequity play a role in how the laws that were created, are

Effects Of The Haiti Earthquake
On January 12, 2010 one of the deadliest events occurred in Haitian history. A 7.0 magnitude
earthquake struck Port au Prince, Haiti which destructed major buildings such as the hospitals which
were very important for the wide spread diseases that occurred at the time of the earthquake in the
country. Homes and lives had changed drastically after the earthquake struck, many had to bear with
the loss of personal belongings and loved ones. Due to the severe destruction, New York Times stated
that the city Port au Prince fell into darkness (Romero and Lacey). The Haiti earthquake had
catastrophic, slow recovery effects on many lives, the environment and the economy.
Over a million lives were affected by the disastrous earthquake. CNN recorded more than 220000
316000 people were killed, 300000 were left injured due to many buildings collapsing or trapping the

left psychologically scarred and with no home. Living in the shelters was extremely difficult for the
affected people due to there not being enough resources such as food; hunger was a serious problem

church of Ephesus. He was a Galation who s family lived in Lystra, his mother and

about Timothy was that he probably saw Paul being beaten and stoned in the streets

Strategic Human Resource Management Approaches
Strategic Human Resource Management is the joining of human resource activities and policies with
strategic organisational goals for the benefit of achieving and maintaining quality performance of the

organisation possess the committed, skilled, productive and motivated employees it needs in order to
achieve sustained competitive advantage.

about utilising certain approaches to not only deliver superior results but to also consider sustainability

makes it easier for organisation s to recognise bad practices.
They are Best Practices , because the implementation of this approach aims at improving the
performance of the organisation through additional, accountability, compliance, transparency and risk
control.
The exact meaning of best practices have become so diverse that organisations often move away from
the uniformity of the meaning. It is easy for employees to lose their voice within the organisation
using this model, and also changes made may not be appropriate from one department of the
organisation to another.
Very few businesses adopt the best practice model because it is difficult and also takes too long to
implement. There are limitations to this approach, like the fact that it is unitarist and does not take
employee perspective into account, they ignore national and organizational contexts. This approach is
crisis driven and actually has a poor track record. This approach has been

Franklins Preface To Poor Rich Essay
In Benjamin Franklin amp;#8217;s preface to Poor Richard Improved, quot; The Way to Wealth quot;,
Franklin offers many adages to help the reader conserve money. Many of these sayings are common
even today. The title of this preface makes since because the title, quot; The Way to Wealth quot;, can
be interpreted as The Road to Wealth. If the reader does as these adages tell them, he or she should be
on their way to wealth. Franklin offers advice to just about anybody. Franklin believed that wealth was
important because it led to both frugality and industry. Frugality and industry were listed as his fifth
and sixth virtues.
Franklin tells us that in order to be industrious, we must always be employed in something useful. His

Franklin tells us that in order to be frugal, we can amp;#8217;t waste anything. People who spend
lavishly should listen to the maxim, quot;Silks and Satins, Scarlet and Velvets put out the Kitchen Fire
quot;. This saying reminds us that the nice, expensive things all work just as well as the generic ones.
Another proverb that a person with no frugality should abide by is, quot;Women and Wine, Game and
Deceit, Make the Wealth small, and the Wants great. quot; This is one I can definitely relate to.
Women, wine, and playing around all do put a dent in your pocket book.
quot;Early to Bed, and Early to rise, makes a Man healthy, wealthy, and wise quot;, is another I can
relate to. This maxim is directed to all slothful people. My constant tardiness proves my laziness and
my need to abide by this one. Another similar adage is, quot;Plough deep, While Sluggards sleep, and
you should have Corn to sell and to keep. quot; Both of these maxims tell us that in order to get ahead,
you can amp;#8217;t be lazy.
Franklin believed that a person that listens to the sayings would avoid being poor. He wrote that
poverty robs a person of their spirit and virtue. His proverb, quot; amp;#8216;Tis hard for an empty
bag to stand upright quot;, lets us know that it is hard to function with no spirit or virtues. I would
suggest reading this preface to anyone who has problems with money. The sayings still hold true in
today amp;#8217;s society. Many

Great Expectations- Character Analysis Essay
Estella Havisham: Most readers are appalled at the cold hearted and cruel ways of Estella, but any
criticism directed at her is largely undeserved. She was simply raised in a controlled environment
where she was, in essence, brainwashed by Miss Havisham. Nonetheless, her demeanor might lead
one to suspect that she was a girl with a heart of ice. Estella is scornful from the moment she is
introduced, when she remarks on Pip s coarse hands and thick boots. However, her beauty soon

The entire story is told through the eyes of an adult Pip, even though Pip is a small child during parts
of it. In his early years, Pip was strongly influenced by his guardians, Joe Gargery and his wife, Mrs.
Joe. Joe instills a sense of honesty, industry, and friendliness in Pip, while Mrs. Joe does a great deal
to contribute to his desires and ambitions through her constant emphasis on pomp and property. Pip is
generally good natured and thoughtful, and very imaginative. His false values, which are bolstered by
his love of Estella, decrease the amount of respect that he has for Joe. His alienation from Joe and Joe
s values builds through the second part of the novel, as Pip becomes selfish, greedy, and foolish.
During the period when his expectations are intact, his only morally positive act was to secretly help
Herbert Pocket into a good position. Upon discovering that Magwitch is his benefactor, a new phase
begins in Pip s moral evolution. At first, Pip no longer feels the same human compassion for
Magwitch that he did the first time he saw him out on the marshes. Gradually, Pip changes his
perception of Magwitch, unlearning what he has learned. Pip becomes concerned with the man, and
not the expectations that he could provide. When Jaggers presents the thought that there may be a way
for Pip to get his hands on Magwitch s property, the idea sounds hollow and utterly empty to Pip. Pip

Normative Cultural Relativism
Relativism is the philosophical idea that the views and beliefs of a person are valid and relative to
them. It can include many positions, whether it be religious, moral, cultural or even political. Over the
course of this quarter I have been introduced to many different theories like Utilitarianism,

The date of the tragedy would probably be made a day of mourning where we all look back and
remember such horrible actions. Now say that the country you visited has a basic principle, making it
perfectly legal to kill children in public parks, we as people would object because murdering is
immoral but Normative Cultural Relativism says otherwise. We do not have a right to judge that man
because the society he is part of states that it is perfectly fine to shoot up public parks as long as you

Holocaust as a worldwide tragedy and describe Hitler as one of the worst human beings of all time.
This all erases with NCR. Hitler is good because he is acting accordingly the way society is based
upon which is exterminating all Jewish people. He states that at the heart of NCR there is a certain
form of argument. The strategy used by cultural relativists is to argue from facts about the differences

The Effect of Uv-C Light on the Growth and Development of...
ABSTRACT: By exposing Brassica rapa seedlings to UV C light, the effect of the growth and
development of Brassica rapa seedlings was tested. The experimental group of Brassica rapa seedlings
was exposed to 254 nm UV C light for thirty seconds after one week of growth. Throughout the
duration of one month, the height, number of leaves and stem diameter were measured sporadically.
After one month, the biomass of the seedlings was recorded. A starch analysis test was also performed.
According to the results, the stem diameter of the experimental group exposed to the ultraviolet light
was significantly smaller than that of the control group exposed to full spectrum light. The number of
leaves, height, biomass and the starch production were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The experimental group was exposed to 254 nm of UV C light for thirty seconds after one week after
the seeds were initially planted. At this point in the experiment, all of the plants had already sprouted.
If both seeds in a quad cell had sprouted, one plant was cut at soil level in order to maintain a
maximum of four plants per quad.
Over the next month, we watered each cell with 1 ml of water each day. Every Tuesday each plant s
height, number of leaves and stem diameter were measured. The plant s height was measured from
soil level to its highest point in centimeters. The stem diameter was measured three inches above the
soil level in centimeters. After twenty eight days, the plants were uprooted, cleaned, dried and their
biomass was determined using an analytical scale. A leaf was cut and collected from seven different
plants from each group. A notch was cut in the leaves from the experimental group in order to tell
them apart from the control leaves. An I2KI starch analysis test was performed for all the leaves by
boiling the leaves in 10% isopropyl alcohol solution for forty five minutes. After forty five minutes,
the leaves were placed in a Petri dish with water and I2KI solution. In the presence of starch, the
solution turns the leaves to a black color. For each quantitative data set, the mean was determined and
a standard deviation was performed. An independent sample T test was performed for the last day of
data using an Excel

Marijuana Prohibition
From the eighteenth century onward in the United States, there has been a temperance movement. In
other words, many people crusaded against what they saw to be the damaging effects of alcohol on
health, personal and professional relationships, and society at large. The temperance movement gained
so much gravity that the production, sale, and consumption of alcohol were actually prohibited from
1920 to 1933. As we all know, prohibition of alcohol was a dismal failure, as a thriving black market
continued to produce what many citizens wanted. Marijuana prohibition on the other hand, was not a
direct cause of public outcry. It was made illegal due to political maneuvering and an attempt to make
amends for the fuck ups of prohibition of alcohol. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For a long time, the anti marijuana community s rallying banner has been marijuana s effect on short
term memory. However, hardly any of the factoids on anti drug websites or pamphlets actually
clarifies WHEN the short term memory loss is occurring. For anyone who has smoked marijuana, they
have felt the effects of not being able to remember a train of thought while under the influence of the
substance. However, does marijuana have long term effects on short term memory? This is much less
clear, and if it doesn t, then the DEA doesn t really have a rock to stand on. What difference does it
make if someone has their short term memory impaired WHILE smoking marijuana? If someone
smokes up and forgets to attend a job interview, it is not the marijuana s problem, but the fact that the
user made a poor judgment call. So what is to be learned from all of this? Is it that since alcohol poses
more health risks than marijuana, that it should once again be banned? Certainly not. I think the lesson
to be learned is that prohibition of a substance that poses few health risks when used in
MODERATION is not right for America. Sure, there are some people who develop alcohol and

Sexually Transmitted Diseases In The United States
Syphilis, AIDS, herpes, these are something no one wants, unfortunately, thousands live day to day in
hiding with these diseases. The number of reported sexually transmitted disease, also known as
venereal disease, have greatly increased since the mid 1900s. There are roughly twenty five different
types of sexually transmitted diseases in the United States that we encounter, such as HIV, AIDS,
genital warts, chlamydia, herpes, gonorrhea, hepatitis, syphilis, vaginitis and trichomonas s. In most
states today, medically, accurate sex education is required to be taught in public schools to the youth
community at some point to educate about the uncaring world of sexual diseases. However, the

may encounter on a daily basis. In the United States all states allow minors to consent to their own
health services for sexually transmitted diseases. Today children are developing at a much faster rate

Why The Arts Is Not The Spotlight
Why the Arts Deserve the Spotlight In recent years, the debate of art programs in schools have
become more prominent. Many people argue that developing the arts is not only a waste of time, but
money. However, the arts programs are more than just painting for an hour at school. Programs like
band, drama, and art have been neglected in public schools for too long, they can represent schools
just as well as any sport, and they have the ability to create a better rounded and safer society. Being a
part of all three of these programs throughout high school has provided me with first hand experience
of the problems and disrespect they face.
The neglect of arts programs have had drastic impact on our school. While sports are encouraged from
an early age and have budgets large enough to cover their equipment and multiple coaches, two of the
three feeder schools for East Ridge don t even have a band program. The one feeder school fortuitous
enough to have band only has it for sixth through eighth grade students. The band director is not only
directing the middle school s band in the morning, she also directs East Ridge s band in the afternoon.
Between four local schools, she is the only music teacher. Another section of the Arts that has been
neglected for years is Drama. Only available through an elective at school, Drama has no budget from
the school and has struggled to stay afloat through concession and kind donations from local people.

Summary Of Women In Shakespeare s Titus Andronicus
Titus Andronicus is renowned for its bloodshed, the references to dead time and the night, foreshadow
the great loss which saturates this play (2.3. 99). Shakespeare s use of diction, alliteration, and rhyme
expose Tamora s tragic flaw which is venegeance, a catalyst that threatens her morality. Shakespeare
examines the complexity of gender roles that obstruct female liberty. The endurance of a patriarchal
society that promotes prudence over sexual expression. Thus, the metaphor of the wild woman
demonstrates how this society can oppress one s sexuality and how human nature breaks down when
vengeance is rampant.
The construct of the wild woman develops through the symbolic connotations of nature and the forest.
This imagery reflects how revenge perpetuates disorder within a society. For example, the line, A
barren detested vale conveys a sense of emptiness (2.3. 93). Also, the contradicting snake imagery
demonstrates Tamora s decent into evil. For example, The birds chant melody on every bush, the
snake lies rolled in the cheerful sun in contrast to, A thousand fiends, a thousand hissing snakes (2.3
12,13 100). Earlier, the singing birds and sunbathing snakes illustrate the natural order within this
environment. However, the hissing snakes disrupt any positive associations with nature, and her
description of her surroundings exemplifies her changes in consciousness. Therefore, the tone of this
text shifts when evil, i.e. vengeance invades society.

Analysis Of Berna s Cornerstone Winery Essay
Event Significance: Today, as you know marks 10 years of wine, love, sweat, and tears. We are all
here to celebrate and remember our successes and failures that got us to this point. We ve all shared in
the hard but fun work of our winery, and have all experienced different aspects that make us love this
place for multiple reasons.
II. Speaker relationship: As some of you know, I m Mark Tina Berna s daughter and our last name

milestone passed, because as I was thinking of what to say for this speech, I thought, wow those years
went fast, how is this really a job, and then I felt so proud to be a part of a business where I can think
of each of you as a part of our family.
III. Theme identification: I think it s safe to say that we all feel proud that we re involved in Berna s
Cornerstone Winery. After a handful of obstacles we encountered when we first got started, to where
we are now; it s a complete 180. By the end of tonight, I hope all of you will know and feel that we

The League Of Legends World Championship
Imagine an enormous arena completely filled with screaming, ecstatic fans cheering for their

they are about to compete in the biggest, most important event of their lives. However, they are
professionals, so they have trained a majority of their lives for this moment, constantly practicing their
craft, going over film, and working alongside their teammates in order to achieve their ultimate goal,
winning the championship. This description at first look may seem to be describing a championship
sporting event such as the NBA Finals, the World Series, Stanley Cup Finals or even the World Cup

the finals for numerous Esports competitions such as the League of Legends World Championship or

Plastic Surgery And Its Effects On Society
As time progresses, plastic surgery becomes a lot popular. Plastic surgery isn t just what s seen on TV
and on social media; plastic surgery is much more than facelifts, rhinoplasty, and breast
enhancements. In fact, plastic surgery is anything that undergoes the process of reconstructing or
repairing parts of the body. (Reconstructive Surgery) The facelift Kris Jenner recently just had done is
equally considered plastic surgery as an ordinary person removing an extra finger they were born with.
These are both types of plastic surgery, but they re treated completely differently. A woman who
obtains cosmetic surgery is scorned for getting the procedure done, yet the person who went in to
remove their extra finger doesn t. In reality, these issues are quite similar. Plastic surgery is often the
last resort for those who want to desperately change how they look; those who obtain plastic surgery
are quickly judged for doing so; however, both men and women should consider the reasons why a
person might want plastic surgery; the reasons behind this may be deeper than one thought. Those
who seek plastic surgery do it for numerous reasons; one reason they obtain it is for serious medical
purposes. Those who seek plastic surgery for medical purposes are doing it to fix abnormalities caused
by accidents, birth defects, and medical issues developed over time. An example of this would be a

Underlying Neurobiological Processes
It has been agreed in the literature that memories can generally be defined in terms of time (Nader,
Schafe LeDoux, 2000). Memory is sensitive to disruption soon after learning as it is in a labile state of
short term memory (STM). Conversely, memory enters a stable form and is less sensitive to such
disruptions in long term memory (LTM) at a later stage after learning (Nader et al.). Research has
argued that the process in which labile new memories transform into stable long lasting memories is
known as consolidation (Nader et al.). After memories are consolidated, they can re enter states of
transient instability, making them vulnerable to disruption immediately after retrieval (Yue et al.,
2012; Si et al., 2012). This is known as memory reconsolidation (Yue et al.; Si et al.). Finally, the re
exposure to a particular context without reinforcement can lead to memory extinction (Merlo Romano,
2008).That is, the temporary weakening of an earlier conditioned response can lead to extinction
(Merlo Romano). However, the number of events or duration of a single event in that exposure will
determine whether memory extinction or reconsolidation is activated (Merlo Romano).
Although learning to fear danger is essential to survival, many anxiety disorders are underpinned by
the dysregulation of the fear system (Oyarzún et al., 2012). Accordingly, much research has been
dedicated to developing strategies for supressing fear memories in maladaptive cases (Oyarzún et al.;

Christianity Is A Religion Based On The Person And God
There are over a billion people in the World who follow and support the Catholic Church. Christianity
is a religion based on the person and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. Ever since Christianity started to
emerge in the mid first century it has only increased in size and became even more powerful now than
in the origins of the Religion. Jesus Christ is considered to be the Son of God and through the Bible s
scriptures that include many sacred writings of Christianity it has given people hope and more
importantly something to believe in. Faith is a huge part of any Religion because that is when you put
your complete trust or confidence in someone or something. For Christians our faith is put into the
Bible, believing in and worshipping a supreme being, God, and a superhuman, Jesus Christ. The
importance to Christianity and to anyone s growth in Christian life can be seen through believing in
someone whether human or divine, God as three persons in one divine being, genuine friendship, the
sacraments, and Jesus Christ as the fullness of both divinity and humanity. Although Christianity is not
for everyone, there are thousands of different kinds of Religion from which an individual can choose
to follow. Even though Christianity is one of the biggest Religions in the World there are just some
people who either don t believe in Christianity or have a hard time understanding it. Being brought up
as a Christian I have put my faith in God s hands as did my family and many others.

As Financial Instruments And Securities Grew In Complexity
As financial instruments and securities grew in complexity and quantity from the 15th to 19th
centuries, so did the markets on which they were traded. Lenders and borrowers became increasingly
able to access both domestic and foreign financial markets, and early stages of globalization began to
arise through the integration of different financial markets. In this essay, I will define financial market
integration, give a brief background as to the context in which it occurred, and describe different
methods used to measure the magnitude of integration that took place across financial markets
throughout this period. I will conclude that when sufficient information is available, one can find the
degree to which markets are integrated by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was therefore much more difficult to achieve high levels of integration. From a historical standpoint,
it is important to know the degree to which financial markets were integrated because the level of
market integration gives great insight to the reasons for a certain amount of growth among economies.
As markets become more integrated, more and more securities are demanded and issued which
translates to more money flowing into the market, and therefore more capital investment and
economic growth.
I will now discuss methods which economic historians use to measure the degree of market integration
that was taking place during a certain period.
Firstly, I will use the stock exchanges in London and in Amsterdam to exemplify the measurement of
integration between two financial markets (rather than across multiple markets). Shares of the same
joint stock corporations were traded simultaneously on both exchanges starting in the summer of 1723
and continuing into the nineteenth century, both through periods of peace and large wars (Neal, The
Integration and Efficiency of the London and Amsterdam Stock Markets in the Eighteenth Century,
97).
The basis for measurement of integration between these two markets comes from the Law of One
Price, which states: Taken on an

Growing up in a district area is much more different in many ways than growing up in a big city,

Co education was not common. The population was between 0.2 million to 0.3 million. There were
few elementary public schools and public high schools. Peoples education was really effected by the
social culture, and by a lot of authorities negligence of the law. A part of the district area where I grew

Work Addiction Research Papers
The days of the regular 9 to 5 workday, 40 hour week and relaxing vacations have all but gone by the
wayside. Today, they have more often than not been replaced by workdays with no set timeframe, a
workweek consisting of up to 60 hours or more and vacations that are for the most part nonexistent.
With such extreme changes in modern work habits, things such as relationships, health and lifestyles
suffer. Sadly, this disorder is not new to researchers nor is it as small as a problem as most people

Some people may think this type of disorder is mostly exhibited by those with jobs, but it has been
found that even those with no jobs also suffer from such an affliction. According to many researchers
studying today s work epidemic, it has been estimated that the majority of people with this problem
have come from such situations as dysfunctional families and alcoholic parent(s). The cause for this
stems from not being able to control situations that were not controllable. Work addiction is
considered an attempt to control a situation in which they cannot control. Other researchers have
found that the sudden increase of workaholism is stemmed from recent economic pressures. People
think that by working harder and logging longer hours is a viable way of keeping a job in such harsh
economic times. During a recent study by Saul Robinson, a psychotherapist and professor at the
University of North Carolina Charlotte found that there were four different types of workaholics. The
bulimic workaholic is one that thinks that a job must be done PERFECTLY or not done at all. The

Manipulation In Shakespeare s Othello
Otello takes Shakespeare s Othello and turns it into an Italian Opera. While the two are similar in
many ways, it is their differences that set them apart and enhance the meaning of the play. Otello
begins in Cyprus at the end of the defeat of the Turks, and the beginning of Iago s plot to destroy
Othello. During the celebration of Othello s return, Cassio sings his praises for Desdemona, and seems
to begin to arouse Othello s suspicions early on. Iago s plan to ruin Othello and Desdemona s marriage

The effects of every character s actions come full circle, and are slightly different from Shakespeare s
original ending. Instead of allowing Iago to merely become a prisoner to be tortured later, Othello
takes out his anger on him and murders him. Iago is unable to survive because of his evil deeds and
his effective manipulation of Othello. In some ways, he brought about his own demise by doing too
well in his manipulation of his enemy. He enraged Othello so much that he felt compelled to enact his
revenge by killing Iago, who brought about his mental destruction in the first place. This alternative
ending illustrates the power of rage over one s mind and body, and places emphasis on the immorality
of Iago s manipulations. Iago is not the only one who suffers from the consequences of Othello s loss
of sanity. Desdemona s death is much more brutal than it had been originally. Instead of suffocating
his wife in bed, Othello violently strangles Desdemona to death, and he doesn t attempt to talk himself
out of ending her life like he does in Othello. Othello s actions are much more deliberate and merciless
as a direct result of his domination by jealousy.
Overall, Otello illustrates more plainly the destructive qualities of various emotions while Othello tells
a story of jealousy and betrayal while addressing issues of racism and sexism. This film enhanced my

Western Themes In The Film Mad Max 2
The 1970 s and 1980 s was considered to be a golden period in Australian cinema, with many classic
Australian films, such as Crocodile Dundee, being released during this era. One such film that helped
develop Australia s reputation in the film industry on an international level, was the Mad Max trilogy,
specifically Mad Max 2, released in 1981.
Despite being a post apocalyptic film, Mad Max 2 reflects themes of an old Western movie, with Max,
a former sheriff, mirroring a Western hero, with his car in place of a horse, driving throughout a barren
wasteland (Ratto, 2014, pp.78). After rescuing a man having been attacked by a group of outlaws,
knows as The Marauders, Max returns the injured man to his settlement and goes on to help the entire
settlement escape from The Marauders. This resemblance to an old Western film, gave Mad Max 2 the
ability to break into the international film market, which was at the time (and still today) dominated by
American films, especially old Westerns. The success of the first and second Mad Max films also
resulted in a boom in production of Australian films, resulting in more making it on an international
market. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

economic systems remain governed by noneconomic motives (Quarter et al., 2009). Social economy
organizations aim at earning either sizeable or entire portion of revenues accrued from marketplaces.
These organizations work effectively in private market sectors, and without any external aid such as
local or international government financing (Polanyi, 2014). The volume of social economy

Negative Influence on Women in the Media Melanic R....
This article, written by Melanic R. Salome , is about the women s misrepresentation of in media .
Salome considers media as an important tool that affects American women in a negative way. Media
has become of paramount interest in our lives, despite the fact that its negative influences on us are
increasing at a rapid pace. Media promotes unrealistic and unattainable images that result in
depression and dissatisfaction among people. Therefore, media reflects the image of society and the
way people think about themselves. Moreover, The writer strives to show the portrayal of women as
depicted by media, stating that historically women are more likely to suffer from marginalization and
stereotyping than men do . She claims that women are mostly represented as sexual objects and
marriage oriented. She highlights that it is unfortunate that this marginalization of women is still
continuing, but it is being exploited through a different way by media. Women beauty is used in
advertisement on purpose to sell products while men are usually represented as elegant leaders and
decision makers. Media, according to Salome, tries hardly to convince American society believing in
inaccessible and nonsensical goals. The author believes that women should be accepted as they are
without being incorporated into the picture of what the ideal women are. Furthermore, she claims that
the American society is a society that cares just about appearance as an important part of the human
existence.

There has been many controversies about the lack of diversity in Hollywood and one of the most
recent one was the 2016 Oscars. The Oscars is an award show that showcase the best people in front
and behind the camera. Unfortunately there was barely any diversity in the nominations this year since
most nominators were white, even though there was many diverse films that were considered Oscar
worthy. With that being said, people protested that there needs to be more diversity in these categories
and some actors agreeing by using the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite in social media. To make things
worse, the Academy Awards members are majority older white males which brought to the attention
from the protesters that in order to have diversity into the awards, the members itself needs to
represent of all races so, it can be considered a fair choice. Which make sense to why throughout
history of the Oscars there was always a discrepancy of diversity in the nominations since 1929
because only a very small percentage of minorities actors have received an award compared to the
white actors that dominated the Oscars with a high percentage of winners. This created tension in
Hollywood that the Oscars are marginalizing itself as a all white program and that there needs to be
changes. When the nominations were being announced for the 2016 Oscars, many were surprised of
the lack of diversity and the films that were snubbed. One in particular would be Beast of No
Nation,which received

The Importance Of Same Sex Marriage
Globalism and Nationalism play a huge part in our society today and they are required for the
progression and development of the country. I think nationalism is important in the development of
our country, but globalism is also needed to become a developed country, because without globalism,
nationalism is not able to act, so both of them depend on each other. The same sex marriage issue is a
contradicting viewpoint for both nationalists and globalists worldwide. Same sex couples should be
treated like any other person and should not be denied anything an ordinary person would not. Same
sex marriage has impacted many people in our society today, whether it being people disagreeing or
agreeing with it. According to an article titled Countries Least Accepting Of Same Sex Marriage
written by Kimutai Gilbert it says The countries leading in legalizing same sex marriage are western
countries and countries of the Americas including the United Kingdom and the United States among
others . Some of the other countries still oppose same sex marriage due to them thinking that it is
unreligious, uncultured, and unacceptable. An example of this was in July 2012 when a gay couple
asked a baker to create a wedding cake for a celebration of their marriage. Mr. Phillips told them that
he could not design and bake a wedding cake for them because it would violate his Christian
convictions. This couple was denied service, because of their sexual orientation which was an
erroneous thing to

Americans Have A Different Attitude Summary
In her article, Americans Have a Different Attitude , the author Yen Le Espiritu presents the issue of
immigrant groups, such as the Filipinos as viewing the United States as in immoral and untraditional
state that has lost sense of it s moral values. The author begins narrating the responses she got from
interviews she conducted within the Filipino community, located in San Diego, California. Many of
these Filipino homes live their lives through the scope of the Filipino Way , which unlike Americans,
means that they value their families, hard work, commitment, marriage and purity through sexual
desires. Yen Le explains her findings and continue explaining how there were commonly found
notions of social ideals and harsh judgement against the American individual lifestyle ... Show more

However, I feel I can relate a bit to this article. I come from a christian home and have a mixed
heritage between Mexican and Cuban culture. Both of these cultures systematically oppress the female
group into this typical, household wife, that needs to stay inside the home, cook dinner, prepare the
meals for this husband and basically become submissive to her counterpart. Girls had to dress a certain
way, they were strictly forbidden to have sex outside of marriage or face the harsh harassment from
other people, they have curfews as compared to the guys, they couldn t be late out at night, they had to
do all domestic work, and could never be alone with boys or else they were considered a cualquiera ,
which translates to slut. As a male, I feel too many burdens have been given to women in securing the
family s legacy and reputation. I strongly feel that men should also be taken into consideration, not
just women. Men also lose their virginity and parents also need to be a bit more stricter on the males.
If not that, then it isn t fair for just the women to have limited decisions in their

Exothermic Reaction Lab
Science Investigation:
Research Question:
To determine how does the surface area of Magnesium affects the temperature of exothermic
reactions?
Hypothesis:
If the surface area of the Magnesium is increased, then the temperature of exothermic reaction
(Hydrochloric acid) will decrease. In this case, 1 piece of magnesium will have the highest
temperature after 2 minutes. This is because, the surface area of the 1 magnesium strip being the least
and therefore it will take less time for the 1 magnesium strip to react and will therefore increase in
heat faster. Therefore the effect of the temperature of exothermic reaction directly relates to the
surface area, because it takes a certain amount of time to dissolve all the magnesium, and the chemical

Also because the time limit is so less, it doesn t give time for the least amount of surface area s (1 strip
of magnesium s) chemical reaction to cool down or neutralize, so therefore making it the highest in
temperature. The functioning of the method wasn t accurate enough. One contributor for the
experiment to not be accurate enough was the use of the same test tube for the 4 trials. Each trial was
done immediately after each other, so the test tubes were relatively hot, and contained a little bit of
solution from the last experiment. This therefore affected the results, because the temperature would
be higher than the last trial. The effect of this error can be reduced with the help of using 16 test tubes
instead of 4. This would erase the possibilities of the test tube being hot, or having any traces of the
last trial done. Also another contributor was for the experiment to not be accurate enough was the time
the Magnesium strips were put in the test tubes. Because of the lack of hands, it was impossible, or
very difficult to put all the magnesium strips in the test tubes at the exact same time. This would affect
the result making it an unfair test. This is because each trial would have had a different time for the
magnesium to be dropped in test tubes. The effect of this error can be reduced with the help of extra
helpers so that the magnesium strips can be placed in the test tubes

The Influence Of Nathaniel Bacon On The American Revolution
Historians tend to view events in a black or white approach. That kind of thinking would describe
Nathaniel Bacon battling for liberty and against English oppression, as paving the way for the
American Revolution. In reality, Bacon was an Indian hating landowner who was part of the nobility,
just not part of Gov. Berkeley s in crowd although he was a relative of Berkeley. Gov. Berkeley of
Virginia and his cronies in the great planter oligarchy [1] ran every aspect of life in Virginia. Berkeley
grabbed control of the House of Burgess, and he and his buddies got the best land, filled most of the
public offices and monopolized the fur trade. Besides reinstituting poll taxes, the governor also began
religious persecution of Quakers and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Berkeley prohibited trade with Indians without permission, and trade was conducted in forts which
were controlled by Berkeley cronies. He sanctioned unprovoked attacks against friendly tribes,
instituted trading restrictions and a general policy of all out war against Indians which he began in
1675. Indian retaliated by raiding some frontier plantations, one which was owned by Nathaniel
Bacon. Instead of trying to end the wars, Berkeley built defensive forts, which prolonged it. [3]Bacon
s plantation and the plantations of his friend s, were unprotected and isolated on the western frontier.
They asked for protection against Indian attacks and raids on their plantations and petitioned for an
armed troop. Berkeley denied and then outlawed all such petitions. Bacon, along with two other
landowners decided to raise their own army and fight the Indians themselves. He began a march to
track hostile Indians, killing friendly Indians by mistake. According to Rothbard (2011), when the
three founders, Bacon, Byrd, and Crew, and their friends ran into some militiamen at Jordan s Point,
the militia decided to mutiny and follow Bacon. When Bacon came back home most of the Virginians
viewed him as a hero.

Good evening and congratulations to the NCPS class of 2017. I would like to say thank you for giving

Now I would be remissed if I addressed the class of 2017 without remembering a classmate who is no

Now I m sure you re expecting a young, smart, charming individual like me to give a sappy like
speech about following your dreams and reaching for the stars, but let s be real we all know Aiden H
would take care of that for me. Here it goes I will make it quick because we all know that JD is dying
to raise his hand and ask loads of irrelevant questions simply to annoy the audience.
We are all guilty of counting down the days but now as you look to the people on your left and your
right, you realize maybe this wasn t so bad.
It s crazy to look out at all of you knowing very well this maybe the last time I do. You have all grown
up so much and as time dragged on slowly we started to become our own person. People fine
themselves in school. Brady realized that his homework is better off at school rather than left at
grandmas. And Sarah who I never heard talk until this year finally found her voice and now we can t

My Purpose Of School
At some point in our lives we have all asked the question What is the purpose of school? Why must I
learn this? . Some say school is simply preparation for employment and for the rest of our lives. I
enjoy school; however, I have always found it to be rather difficult and pointless being in the French
immersion stream and this was due to the lack of help I received from my mother and father unlike
many of my peers whose parents attended university and spoke both English and French fluently.
Everyone faces a variety of challenges and I have always tried my hardest to do my best and
overcome any challenges I face in order to succeed as well as make myself and my parents proud. In
elementary school, I discovered my weakness for French. It was the subject I abhorred; reading,
spelling and grammar were concepts I could not grasp. As a result of my academic struggles, I would
often become frustrated and cry. Perhaps what had stained my academic experience the most was in
sixth grade, our teacher invented a game called Autour du monde A game where we would go around
the class answering grammar questions that were given to us with the objective of improving our
French. I waited in vain for my turn to be over, only then to be made fun of by my teacher and peers
when I couldn t conjugate a verb in passé compose. It was humiliating that my teacher who was
supposed to support and inspire me to do my best, was instead putting me down in front of all my
peers. My parents had

owner was killed by getting crushed between the seat and the steering wheel. Dennis had to stop

What Is The Mood Of The Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber
In Ernest Hemingway s short story, ¨The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber,¨ readers learn about
Francis character through the perspectives of other characters. Hemingway develops Francis character
as a man full of shame, cowardice, and bravery by using multiple perspectives as he threads a negative
tone throughout the story.
Topic Sentence: A characteristic of Francis that is developed through the short story is shamefulness.
Example Wilson Perspective: Francis brings shame upon himself when he continually asks Wilson to
not talk about the lion. Wilson furthers the shamefulness by saying ¨I m a professional hunter. We
never talk about our clients¨ (Page 4)

She brings shame and pain upon her husband by hinting to him that he was not the actual one that
killed the lion. Margaret uses the lion hunt as a way to mentally bully and harm Francis as she has
done in the past to show she is the one that controls their relationship.
Transition sentence: The narrator also contributes to tell about and bring shamefulness into the life of
Francis Macomber
Evidence Narrator:Sometimes Hemingway uses the narrator to further develop characteristics, such as
on page 1, The gun bearers had taken no part in the demonstration.
Explanation: The gun bearers do not verbally bring shame into Francis life, however they do bring
shame into his life by their actions. They brings shame to Francis because they know what really
happened with the lion hunt. The gun bearers not congratulating him for the kill plays a major role in
the story and the unmanliness Mr.Macomber experienced through his life.
Conclusion sentence: Hemingway s craft of repetition creates shame for Francis. Repetition creates
shame for Francis because he is constantly looked down from his wife and Wilson. By using multiple
characters to portray this character trait, it further explains and shows the true meaning of this

Insanity in A Rose For Emily And The Yellow Wallpaper The women in Faulkner s and Gilman s stories are victims of male over protectiveness. The men that rule their lives trap Emily in A Rose For Emily and the narrator of The Yellow Wallpaper . Each character must retreat into their own world as an escape from reality. Emily is destroyed by her father s over protectiveness. He prevents her from courting anyone as none of the young men were quite good enough for Miss Emily and such (82). After living so long as a victim of loneliness perpetrated by her father, Emily decides that she will be vindicated she will have her man. She orders a toiletry set to be engraved with Homer s initials, purchases an outfit and a nightshirt for him, and buys the arsenic that is to seal his fate. When the townspeople enter her house for the first time in forty years, they find a bridal tomb: a tarnished toiletry set, a neatly pressed suit, and a rotting Homer Baron clad in the nightshirt wearing a profound and fleshless grin (87). Just as Emily is destroyed by her father s over protectiveness, the first person narrator of The Yellow Wall Paper, is secluded from both life and reality by her over protective husband. The narrator is both creative and eccentric; her husband is practical in the extreme (160). She believes that congenial work, with excitement and change, would do [her] good (160). Her husband, however, believes in the strength of conventional medicine such as the rest cure for nervous diseases (164). Like Emily s father who denies her a family and a life of her own, the husband of Gilman s narrator denies not only her desire to write, but also her craving for society and stimulus as she struggles to find a creative outlet (160). This appears a type of solitary confinement for such a creative being, and it should come as no surprise that she is crazed after months of lying in bed with no company other than ... She was simply raised in a controlled environment where she was, in essence, brainwashed by Miss Havisham. Nonetheless, her demeanor might lead one to suspect that she was a girl with a heart of ice. Estella is scornful from the moment she is introduced, when she remarks on Pip s coarse hands and thick boots. However, her beauty soon captivates Pip and she is instilled as the focal point of his thoughts for much of the remainder of the novel. The fact that Pip becomes infatuated with her is also not Estella s fault. By no means is there any evidence that she loved him. She does not flirt with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The entire story is told through the eyes of an adult Pip, even though Pip is a small child during parts of it. In his early years, Pip was strongly influenced by his guardians, Joe Gargery and his wife, Mrs. Joe. Joe instills a sense of honesty, industry, and friendliness in Pip, while Mrs. Joe does a great deal to contribute to his desires and ambitions through her constant emphasis on pomp and property. Pip is generally good natured and thoughtful, and very imaginative. His false values, which are bolstered by his love of Estella, decrease the amount of respect that he has for Joe. His alienation from Joe and Joe s values builds through the second part of the novel, as Pip becomes selfish, greedy, and foolish. During the period when his expectations are intact, his only morally positive act was to secretly help Herbert Pocket into a good position. Upon discovering that Magwitch is his benefactor, a new phase begins in Pip s moral evolution. At first, Pip no longer feels the same human compassion for Magwitch that he did the first time he saw him out on the marshes. Gradually, Pip changes his perception of Magwitch, unlearning what he has learned. Pip becomes concerned with the man, and not the expectations that he could provide. When Jaggers presents the thought that there may be a way for Pip to get his hands on Magwitch s property, the idea sounds hollow and utterly empty to Pip. Over the course of this quarter I have been introduced to many different theories like Utilitarianism, Deontological and Teleological theories, but none of them got my attention like Normative Cultural Relativism. We do not have a right to judge that man because the society he is part of states that it is perfectly fine to shoot up public parks as long as you only kill children. Hitler is good because he is acting accordingly the way society is based upon which is exterminating all Jewish people. He states that at the heart of NCR there is a certain form of argument. The strategy used by cultural relativists is to argue from facts about the differences between cultural outlooks to a conclusion about the status of morality (Rachels, 454). The experimental group was exposed to 254 nm of UV C light for thirty seconds after one week after the seeds were initially planted. At this point in the experiment, all of the plants had already sprouted. If both seeds in a quad cell had sprouted, one plant was cut at soil level in order to maintain a maximum of four plants per quad. Over the next month, we watered each cell with 1 ml of water each day. Every Tuesday each plant s height, number of leaves and stem diameter were measured. The plant s height was measured from soil level to its highest point in centimeters. The stem diameter was measured three inches above the soil level in centimeters. After twenty eight days, the plants were uprooted, cleaned, dried and their biomass was determined using an analytical scale. A leaf was cut and collected from seven different plants from each group. A notch was cut in the leaves from the experimental group in order to tell them apart from the control leaves. An I2KI starch analysis test was performed for all the leaves by boiling the leaves in 10% isopropyl alcohol solution for forty five minutes. After forty five minutes, the leaves were placed in a Petri dish with water and I2KI solution. In the presence of starch, the solution turns the leaves to a black color. • 21. Marijuana Prohibition From the eighteenth century onward in the United States, there has been a temperance movement. In other words, many people crusaded against what they saw to be the damaging effects of alcohol on health, personal and professional relationships, and society at large. The temperance movement gained so much gravity that the production, sale, and consumption of alcohol were actually prohibited from 1920 to 1933. As we all know, prohibition of alcohol was a dismal failure, as a thriving black market continued to produce what many citizens wanted. What difference does it make if someone has their short term memory impaired WHILE smoking marijuana? Is it that since alcohol poses more health risks than marijuana, that it should once again be banned? Certainly not. • 24. Summary Of Women In Shakespeare s Titus Andronicus Titus Andronicus is renowned for its bloodshed, the references to dead time and the night, foreshadow the great loss which saturates this play (2.3. 99). Shakespeare s use of diction, alliteration, and rhyme expose Tamora s tragic flaw which is venegeance, a catalyst that threatens her morality. Shakespeare examines the complexity of gender roles that obstruct female liberty. The endurance of a patriarchal society that promotes prudence over sexual expression. Thus, the metaphor of the wild woman demonstrates how this society can oppress one s sexuality and how human nature breaks down when vengeance is rampant. The construct of the wild woman develops through the symbolic connotations of nature and the forest. This imagery reflects how revenge perpetuates disorder within a society. For example, the line, A barren detested vale conveys a sense of emptiness (2.3. 93). Also, the contradicting snake imagery demonstrates Tamora s decent into evil. For example, The birds chant melody on every bush, the snake lies rolled in the cheerful sun in contrast to, A thousand fiends, a thousand hissing snakes (2.3 12,13 100). Earlier, the singing birds and sunbathing snakes illustrate the natural order within this environment. However, the hissing snakes disrupt any positive associations with nature, and her description of her surroundings exemplifies her changes in consciousness. • 28. Underlying Neurobiological Processes It has been agreed in the literature that memories can generally be defined in terms of time (Nader, Schafe LeDoux, 2000). Memory is sensitive to disruption soon after learning as it is in a labile state of short term memory (STM). Conversely, memory enters a stable form and is less sensitive to such disruptions in long term memory (LTM) at a later stage after learning (Nader et al.). Research has argued that the process in which labile new memories transform into stable long lasting memories is known as consolidation (Nader et al.). After memories are consolidated, they can re enter states of transient instability, making them vulnerable to disruption immediately after retrieval (Yue et al., 2012; Si et al., 2012). This is known as memory reconsolidation (Yue et al.; Si et al.). Finally, the re exposure to a particular context without reinforcement can lead to memory extinction (Merlo Romano, 2008).That is, the temporary weakening of an earlier conditioned response can lead to extinction (Merlo Romano). However, the number of events or duration of a single event in that exposure will determine whether memory extinction or reconsolidation is activated (Merlo Romano). Although learning to fear danger is essential to survival, many anxiety disorders are underpinned by the dysregulation of the fear system (Oyarzún et al., 2012). Accordingly, much research has been dedicated to developing strategies for supressing fear memories in maladaptive cases (Oyarzún et al.; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Western Themes In The Film Mad Max 2 The 1970 s and 1980 s was considered to be a golden period in Australian cinema, with many classic Australian films, such as Crocodile Dundee, being released during this era. One such film that helped develop Australia s reputation in the film industry on an international level, was the Mad Max trilogy, specifically Mad Max 2, released in 1981. Despite being a post apocalyptic film, Mad Max 2 reflects themes of an old Western movie, with Max, a former sheriff, mirroring a Western hero, with his car in place of a horse, driving throughout a barren wasteland (Ratto, 2014, pp.78). After rescuing a man having been attacked by a group of outlaws, knows as The Marauders, Max returns the injured man to his settlement and goes on to help the entire settlement escape from The Marauders. • 38. Negative Influence on Women in the Media Melanic R.... This article, written by Melanic R. Salome , is about the women s misrepresentation of in media . Salome considers media as an important tool that affects American women in a negative way. Media has become of paramount interest in our lives, despite the fact that its negative influences on us are increasing at a rapid pace. Media promotes unrealistic and unattainable images that result in depression and dissatisfaction among people. Therefore, media reflects the image of society and the way people think about themselves. Moreover, The writer strives to show the portrayal of women as depicted by media, stating that historically women are more likely to suffer from marginalization and stereotyping than men do . She claims that women are mostly represented as sexual objects and marriage oriented. She highlights that it is unfortunate that this marginalization of women is still continuing, but it is being exploited through a different way by media. Women beauty is used in advertisement on purpose to sell products while men are usually represented as elegant leaders and decision makers. Media, according to Salome, tries hardly to convince American society believing in inaccessible and nonsensical goals. The author believes that women should be accepted as they are without being incorporated into the picture of what the ideal women are. Furthermore, she claims that the American society is a society that cares just about appearance as an important part of the human existence. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. The Effects Of Diversity On Hollywood And One Of The Most... There has been many controversies about the lack of diversity in Hollywood and one of the most recent one was the 2016 Oscars. The Oscars is an award show that showcase the best people in front and behind the camera. Unfortunately there was barely any diversity in the nominations this year since most nominators were white, even though there was many diverse films that were considered Oscar worthy. With that being said, people protested that there needs to be more diversity in these categories and some actors agreeing by using the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite in social media. To make things worse, the Academy Awards members are majority older white males which brought to the attention from the protesters that in order to have diversity into the awards, the members itself needs to represent of all races so, it can be considered a fair choice. Which make sense to why throughout history of the Oscars there was always a discrepancy of diversity in the nominations since 1929 because only a very small percentage of minorities actors have received an award compared to the white actors that dominated the Oscars with a high percentage of winners. This created tension in Hollywood that the Oscars are marginalizing itself as a all white program and that there needs to be changes. When the nominations were being announced for the 2016 Oscars, many were surprised of the lack of diversity and the films that were snubbed. I think nationalism is important in the development of our country, but globalism is also needed to become a developed country, because without globalism, nationalism is not able to act, so both of them depend on each other. The same sex marriage issue is a contradicting viewpoint for both nationalists and globalists worldwide. Same sex couples should be treated like any other person and should not be denied anything an ordinary person would not. Same sex marriage has impacted many people in our society today, whether it being people disagreeing or agreeing with it. According to an article titled Countries Least Accepting Of Same Sex Marriage written by Kimutai Gilbert it says The countries leading in legalizing same sex marriage are western countries and countries of the Americas including the United Kingdom and the United States among others . Some of the other countries still oppose same sex marriage due to them thinking that it is unreligious, uncultured, and unacceptable. An example of this was in July 2012 when a gay couple asked a baker to create a wedding cake for a celebration of their marriage. Mr. Phillips told them that he could not design and bake a wedding cake for them because it would violate his Christian convictions. • 43. Exothermic Reaction Lab Science Investigation: Research Question: To determine how does the surface area of Magnesium affects the temperature of exothermic reactions? Hypothesis: If the surface area of the Magnesium is increased, then the temperature of exothermic reaction (Hydrochloric acid) will decrease. In this case, 1 piece of magnesium will have the highest temperature after 2 minutes. This is because, the surface area of the 1 magnesium strip being the least and therefore it will take less time for the 1 magnesium strip to react and will therefore increase in heat faster. Therefore the effect of the temperature of exothermic reaction directly relates to the surface area, because it takes a certain amount of time to dissolve all the magnesium, and the chemical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also because the time limit is so less, it doesn t give time for the least amount of surface area s (1 strip of magnesium s) chemical reaction to cool down or neutralize, so therefore making it the highest in temperature. The functioning of the method wasn t accurate enough. One contributor for the experiment to not be accurate enough was the use of the same test tube for the 4 trials. Each trial was done immediately after each other, so the test tubes were relatively hot, and contained a little bit of solution from the last experiment. This therefore affected the results, because the temperature would be higher than the last trial. The effect of this error can be reduced with the help of using 16 test tubes instead of 4. This would erase the possibilities of the test tube being hot, or having any traces of the last trial done. Also another contributor was for the experiment to not be accurate enough was the time the Magnesium strips were put in the test tubes. Because of the lack of hands, it was impossible, or very difficult to put all the magnesium strips in the test tubes at the exact same time. This would affect the result making it an unfair test. This is because each trial would have had a different time for the magnesium to be dropped in test tubes. The effect of this error can be reduced with the help of extra helpers so that the magnesium strips can be placed in the test tubes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Influence Of Nathaniel Bacon On The American Revolution Historians tend to view events in a black or white approach. That kind of thinking would describe Nathaniel Bacon battling for liberty and against English oppression, as paving the way for the American Revolution. In reality, Bacon was an Indian hating landowner who was part of the nobility, just not part of Gov. Berkeley s in crowd although he was a relative of Berkeley. Gov. Berkeley of Virginia and his cronies in the great planter oligarchy [1] ran every aspect of life in Virginia. They asked for protection against Indian attacks and raids on their plantations and petitioned for an armed troop. Berkeley denied and then outlawed all such petitions. Bacon, along with two other landowners decided to raise their own army and fight the Indians themselves. He began a march to track hostile Indians, killing friendly Indians by mistake. • 46. My Purpose Of School At some point in our lives we have all asked the question What is the purpose of school? Why must I learn this? . Some say school is simply preparation for employment and for the rest of our lives. I enjoy school; however, I have always found it to be rather difficult and pointless being in the French immersion stream and this was due to the lack of help I received from my mother and father unlike many of my peers whose parents attended university and spoke both English and French fluently. Everyone faces a variety of challenges and I have always tried my hardest to do my best and overcome any challenges I face in order to succeed as well as make myself and my parents proud. In elementary school, I discovered my weakness for French. It was the subject I abhorred; reading, spelling and grammar were concepts I could not grasp. As a result of my academic struggles, I would often become frustrated and cry. Perhaps what had stained my academic experience the most was in sixth grade, our teacher invented a game called Autour du monde A game where we would go around the class answering grammar questions that were given to us with the objective of improving our French. I waited in vain for my turn to be over, only then to be made fun of by my teacher and peers when I couldn t conjugate a verb in passé compose.
