So all the other major players have to keep the prices lower than iPhone, because iPhone has the most
market share and has a strong customer brand loyalty. * To summarize, entry into the smartphone
industry is not HIGH but to sustain and compete against the major giants is close to impossible. 2.)
Competitive Rivalry within the industry: High Consumer base: Each firm targets a different set of
audience but most of the time overlapping audience. For e.g Apple targets high end customers, Nokia
targets the common and the sophisticated customers, RIM targets the enterprise. But the consumer
base keeps changing with the change in the dynamics of the industry. For e.g most of the enterprise
clients are shifting to Apple because of the innovative design of the products offered. Highly
Competitive market: The rivalry in the industry is because of the major players already competing b/w
each other. The major firms being Apple, Samsung, RIM, Nokia PALM and HTC. Although each firm
has their own strengths and weaknesses which might be related to design of product or marketing or
cost of handsets. Competitive Margins: Because of a large number of key players in the phone
industry and the cut throat competition. Every firm is forced to keep the profit margins per sale low
and hence attract more customers. Also the economic crisis during 2008 2009 has made the companies
lower their pricing and thus improve sales. 3.) Negotiating Power of Buyers:

Richard Wagner
The Sadie Wagner case is laced with great opportunity that failed to bloom. What occurred in
Germany was an instance of an excellent employee encountering a mismatch of work cultures and
expectations. Much like planting a seed in an empty vase, there was little chance for success in the
long term. For the sake of productivity, we must understand the conditions that lead to Sadie s
withdrawal from the position to avoid repeated mistakes in future expatriates assignments.
The first issue that must be addressed is the lack of engagement for Sadie s aspirations. It is
understandable that Sadie, as a dedicated employee with defined career goals, would desire a
challenging but rewarding work environment. Thus, when she began feeling underutilized and
prohibited from taking initiative as she was wont to do in her previous position, this established a
significant disconnect between Sadie and her workplace. With this in mind, it is unsurprising that she
departed the company shortly after the aboard project concluded. ... Show more content on

Reil s interactions with Sadie seem to indicate his staunch alliance with the typical cultural norms of
German business, such as the usual high uncertainty avoidance that is common in workplaces. This
proved problematic, as Sadie s very dossier a young woman with the knowledge and desire to exceed
expectations was abnormal of her German peers in a similar cohort. Thus, Reil s seemingly negative
opinion of her, while not justified, is understandable in this

What Are The Similarities Between Ancient Egypt And...
In societies around the world people follow a certain religion. They believe either in a single deity or
many deities. In Ancient Greek and Egypt they believed in many deities. Many included females.
Ancient Egyptian and Greek societies had similar female goddesses despite distance. But although
they had similarities they also have differences between them.
Hathor is the Egyptian goddess of female sexuality and love. Also music, dance and inebriation. She
brought fertility and protected women in childbirth. She is a funerary goddess but unlike Isis
specialized in the rebirth in afterlife. With other goddess like Tefnut, Nut and Sakhmet they are angry
goddesses . They have a dual nature as being bring both fertility and new life. But also seen as
dangerous and bringing destruction. Hathor is the daughter of Ra and considered the eye of Ra . Ra
wanted to destroy mankind but he grew old. As he grew older he asked her to help him and became
Sekhmet and took on a job of vengeance. She became the warrior goddess of destruction and war. She
is the goddess of war, fire, heat and vengeance. Along with enchantments, mummifications, hunting,
wild animals and courage. Sekhmet became known as the lioness goddess or the scarlet lady for her
known lust for blood. She feels delight in killing people and drinking their blood. Ra became worried
that Sekhmet would slaughter all mankind. So he tricked her by mixing red dye and ale and pouring it
across the land. Claiming it was blood she

Chaucer s Canterbury Tales
The Character of the Parson of Canterbury Tales
Geoffrey Chaucer is considered by many critics as the father of English literature. His literary
masterpiece was The Canterbury Tales. In these tales, Chaucer writes about pilgrims who are on a
journey to Canterbury. Each pilgrim has a tale that they tell on this journey. Chaucer expresses themes
and messages through the characterization of each pilgrim. Through the Parson, one of the pilgrims,
Chaucer is able to portray the life of a true Christian through the general prologue, prologue to the
Parson s tale, and the Parson s tale itself.
In the general prologue, Chaucer introduces the reader to the Parson. He is a holy minded man of good
renown (475). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is not seen as a high ranking, political clergy member. The Parson is a true example (501) of a
genuine Christian living a Christ like life. He, being learned (478), knew and taught the gospel. He
was not hypocritical nor did scrupulosity (522) poison his character. Chaucer himself greatly admires
the Parson saying, I [Chaucer] think there never was a better priest (520).
Chaucer continues to praise and respect the Parson in the prologue to the Parson s tale. He writes on
how the Parson declines not to tell a story, but rather to use the opportunity to preach to the other
pilgrims. The Parson shows characteristics of living a Christian life through his efforts to spread the
word. He chooses to enlighten the pilgrims of a true spiritual purpose rather than to entertain them
with lavish stories. In addition, Chaucer shows how the Parson is clear minded in the prologue. The
Parson is continuously focused on spreading the gospel and is not distracted but material things. He
chooses a life of servant hood and virtue over wealth, fame, and glory
In the Parson s tale itself, Chaucer is able to present the Parson s understanding of the earthly life.
Through the teaching of the seven deadly sins, the readers realize the impact of sin and its potential to
poison spiritual life. The Parson show how wise and knowledgeable he is through his ethical teachings
of the sins. He first warns

Dodge Challenger Rhetorical Analysis Essay
Free, new, 50% off advertising, an immensely paramount aspect in today s society, has the ability to
promote or demote a newly developed product. With such a vast array of public notices, it s crucial
that they appeal to people psychologically, using rhetorical devices. During an expedition for the most
complex, eye catching ad, I was fortunate enough to stumble upon the 2010 Dodge Challenger.
Astounded by the multiplex of this advertisement, my inner curiosity was enkindled. In this persuasive
notice, the appeals to ethos, pathos, and logos are strategically used to persuade the target audience
that the 2010 Dodge Challenger is the car for them.
Visual Aesthetics
The foremost president of the United States, George Washington, proudly stands before a beautifully

would place an ad for the Challenger in a magazine that men worship instead of Seventeen Magazine.
A subscription to Motor Trend can range anywhere from 12 issues for 10 dollars to 24 issues for 18

The Cultural Impact Of Electricity And The World We Live
In today s world nothing is more important than the gadgets we use on a every day to day basis. What
we take for granted sometimes is the thing we use most and most importantly we use to charge
everything most of the time is some type of electricity. I hope to provide a clear and concise paper that
details and gives the cultural impact of electricity and the world we live. This paper will hit on three
topics reconstruction to the beginning of where man first began to harness electricity, how man used
this electricity to change the course of history as we know it, and the positives as well as the negatives
of electricity and the world we live in.
Electricity is a form of energy involving the flow of electrons. All matter is made up of atoms, and an
atom has a center, called a nucleus. The nucleus contains positively charged particles called protons
and uncharged particles called neutrons (Joseph, 2002)The nucleus of an atom is surrounded by
negatively charged particles called electrons. The negative charge of an electron is equal to the
positive charge of a proton, and the number of electrons in an atom is usually equal to the number of
protons (Joseph, 2002).When the balancing force between protons and electrons is upset by an outside
force, an atom may gain or lose an electron. When electrons are lost from an atom, the free movement
of these electrons constitutes an electric current (Joseph, 2002). To understand electricity one must
know that it is not an invention but a

What is ageism? How does ageism influence the presence of diversity in society?
Ageism is prejudice and discrimination against older adults. (Schaefer, 2012) It is a set of beliefs,

The information in this section of the AoA website brings together a wide variety of statistical
information about this growing population. (Aging, 2013)
What types of legislation may or may not be affected by the aging population?
The two types of legislation that may or may not affect the aging population in the United States are;
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 and the Health Care and Education
Affordability Reconciliation Act of 2010 respectively. Population aging may affect financial markets if
individuals tend to amass assets during their working years and spend them during retirement. When
there is a large cohort such as the baby boom, there may be more demand than usual for corporate
stock and other assets while the cohort saves for retirement. This demand for corporate stock and other
assets may abate after the cohort retires. (tonihansberry, 2012)
How does poverty affect the aging population?
Aging Americans, like other age groups, are feeling the effects of the declining real estate and stock
markets, as well as soaring fuel and food prices. Seniors economic security will only increase in
importance as the U.S. population ages. The nation s health and social services resources will face
unprecedented demand as 75 million people in the baby boomer generation reach retirement age some
with eroded savings and retirement accounts. Aging people of color are more likely than white

Feliks Skrzynecki Analysis
The journey that comes when relocating from one country to another can be a significant challenge for
migrants through the idea of belonging. The notion (idea) of belonging is explored through the
dynamics between conforming to social influence and maintaining perception of self identity. This is
reflected in Peter Skrzynecki s poem Feliks Skrzynecki which highlights the struggles of migrants, in
this case, his father of trying to belong and not feeling like an outcast. Peter examines how an inherent
(existing in something) desire to belong to a group or community may have caused them to deny
aspects of identity. Peter s assimilation into the Australian way of life induces a detachment from his
father and his cultural ideas. Through

The Truth Behind Honor By Marguerite De Navarre
The Truth Behind Honor Honor is a concept that has a great deal to do with entitlement and based on
the actions or qualities of a person. There are three main types of honor that society recognizes;
family, men, and women and in The Heptameron, Marguerite de Navarre portrays each of the three
types of honor throughout her stories. However, there are often a number of complications that follow
honor that lie with classified and understandably honorable deeds or traits, and who is it that
determines this. Another issue that one may find is that it is also complicated to be able to view one
form of honor in the presence of another due to certain views clashing with one another. In addition to
this, Marguerite de Navarre s stories are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the past, it was even more so an issue than it is now, creating little freedom for women. Men held
the power in this instance, and believed that they were more worthy of an integral status than women
were. In The Heptameron, Marguerite de Navarre introduces the reader to the Duke of Medici,
married to Madame Marguerite who had been too young to consummate the marriage. As a result, he
had a great deal of love affairs with the women in town. Eventually this lead to him developing
feelings for one of the virtuous women who had been the sister of the man the Duke considered his
other half . The Duke then goes on to say So be it then! [...] Since you are not my friend, I know what
I have to do! (159) Occurring after his friend refused to send word to his sister of the Duke s request,
he responded in the typical manner that he was known for ruthlessness. At this point, he believed that
due to his social standing, it was only right that the sister of the man he had been quite close with were
to be his current love affair. His honor lies with the accepting of his offer without it, he would take her
by force. This relates back to manliness and honor coexisting. Obtaining a women s virtue is a sign of
manliness, no matter the generation, and it is because of this that the Duke believes this virtuous

Persuasive Essay On Police Violence
The protest started with Colin Kaepernick sitting down during the National Anthem for police
brutality so just because he did something small for justice means he should be unemployed and lose
millions of dollars. So now most of the NFL players kneel during the national anthem. When Trump
saw this he said the the players should be fired or the people that go there should walk out. When the
NFL heard about this lot were outraged, all of the teams lock arms and stand close together some also
kneels. Two teams stayed in their locker rooms when the National Anthem was sung. A National
Anthem singer for a Titans game kneeled during the whole song she sung, as well a local singer for
the Lions and Falcons game but for the most of the song he stood until the ending he knelt and held up
a fist as he sang the last word of the song. This whole controversy is just messed up. Politics should
not get into sports period and just stay worried about bigger things like North Korea. So why should
he worry about the NFL. Politics should never be into sports because they are all private organizations
so he should be telling them what to do. But why do people want to boycott the NFL, They aren t
disrespecting the song at all they just want to make a statement just equal justice and if people can t
see that then why get mad over something as little as that just because they won t stand for the song.
So just look at the big picture and understand why their doing this and not just on that

Diagnosis Of Major Depressive Disorder
Depression affects many individuals worldwide, indiscriminant of race, gender or age. Depression is
found across cultures, genders, with slight differing of symptomatology found worldwide (Burnett
Zeigler et al., 2012, p. 123; Cuijpers Schoevers, 2004 p. 430; Watters, 2010). In 2012, the World
Health Organization (WHO), estimated that over 350 million people suffer from depressive symptoms
worldwide. Accurate diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in other countries can be
challenging, as individuals are not assessed regularly in primary care clinics. Across many cultures,
somatic symptoms tend to be reported more frequently than emotional and behavioral symptoms, with
treatment primarily prescribed for the physical symptom, which doesn t address the individuals faulty
beliefs, impacting feelings and behaviors. Not only are people suffering from the tremendous
symptomology of depression, but increased deaths, due to suicide, frequent this population (Cuijpers
Schoevers, 2004, p. 420).
The demand for evidenced base screening tools and qualified clinicians who have the skills to
accurately diagnose and provide evidenced treatment modalities are an increasing need and continue
to gain significant attention of agencies such as Medicaid and Medicare. Both Medicaid and Medicare
provide financial support for medical services needed by clients living in poverty, clients whom are

The Maya s were an ancient civilization that faced many difficult tasks in their everyday lives that
needed to be completed in order for survival. The Mayan tribes existed from about 400 BC until
around 1524 when they were taken over by the Spanish conquistadors (Sharer p.3). They occupied

Also if a man was walking down the road the women had to step aside out of his way and turn their

themselves in black paint but, once they were married they were allowed to paint themselves in every
color and were expected to tattoo their bodies (Thompson p.118). The bride s father was expected to
pay for the entire ceremony. Most times marriages were arranged while the children were still young
(Sharer p.120).
The Birth of children was one of the most looked upon ceremonies amongst the Maya s. When a baby
was born his mother would wash him right away and then fasten him to a cradle. This served as a
baptism (Laughton p.98). The Shaman who conducted the ceremony determined each child s paal

the Hetzmek was performed. This was a ceremony celebrating the first time that the baby is carried at
the mother s hip (Sharer p.118). At age 4 girls were given a red shell to tie around their waist. Boys
wore a white bead. These accessories were worn until the child reached puberty (Sharer pgs.118 119).

Comparison Contrast of Death of a Salesman and Glengarry Ross

The True Criminal
Being a salesman has always carried a negative stigma since the early 1900s. Being seen as pushy,
high pressure, deceitful people; the dreaded activity of purchasing some car or new appliance has
haunted everyone at some point or another. Many words have come to describe salesman such as
sharks , cons , thieves etc., and these words have stuck with the profession throughout the century.
Two very realistic depictions of such phonies can be seen in Death of A Salesman by Arthur Miller

Much to his chagrin is the new reality he is facing, where it s all cut and dried, and there s no chance
for bringing friendship to bear (Miller 1089). In contrast, Levene takes on the role of cut and dried
sales techniques, often using his other associates as pretend clients in order to just make the sell,
whether or not he s tricking extorting money out of his clients. Right from the beginning, he is trying
to con leads out of Williamson, his supervisor. ... I need the leads... , he boldly tells Williamson who
reluctantly begins to make him a deal (Mamet 1418). Right from the get go, Leven is already using the
manipulation techniques he uses day in and day out on his co workers even. Loman pushes his honest,
integrity, and personality traits as the key to selling success, though we see an obvious decline in his
selling abilities compared to the others. That being said, both characters are still very flawed with
illusions of owning their own companies and waiting for the right client to come along. They both still
have some nasty personality traits and are still putting on a façade to trick people; however, Willy
Loman is tricking his family while Shelly Levene is tricking his consumers. Hard selling is a selling
technique in which the salesman manipulates the psychological state of the consumer in order to

Food waste is one of the most wasteful forms of consumption in Australia. Research shows that we
commonly waste food because too much food was cooked; goes off before the best before date, too

The Roman Empire was a strong hold over the Mediterranean for many years. Being the goal of most
all world leaders, the Romans wanted land along with their power. They set their eyes on the valuable
lands around them and the Mediterranean world as well as parts of Northern Europe and Asia. The
Roman civilization and culture was much influenced by the Phonetians and Greeks. Later, the Romans
were in control of these lands and their people. Three of their prize provinces held at much value to
them were Thrace, Macedonia, Greece. These three lands were all located in the same area, providing

there was nothing stopping them. One of Philip s allies, Hanibel, went against him and fought him for
Macedonia. The Macedonians allied with the Carthagenians and the Romans with the Aetolian

Saraceno described a way of both cleaning up and creating new ways of living during his TED talk.
He talked about building bubbles made of plastic, that have been left in the ocean, in order for them to
raise up into the air and have people to live in them. Neither of these men described ways of stopping
the abuse of the earth, but instead lectured about ways to clean up the pollution. Since both of these
men are artists, they come up with creative ways to benefit the world. While Saraceno s ideas are well
meaning, Roosegaarde s design is just more reasonable. In order to further understand the
environmental problems facing this planet, it is important to know just how bad the atmosphere is
being polluted. The primary pollutant in the atmosphere is carbon dioxide, and it is infecting the
atmosphere at an outstanding rate. This carbon dioxide goes into the air, and creates what is known as
fog. Every second, 2.4 million pounds of carbon dioxide is being emitted ( Carbon dioxide emissions
rise to 2.4 million pounds per second ). This number is still on the rise, with no real successful efforts
to stop it yet. To enlarge the scale, each year the carbon dioxide emissions rise to about one billion
more tons than the previous year. Because emissions of the key greenhouse gas have been rising
steadily and most carbon stays in the air for a century, it is not just unlikely but rather optimistic to
think that the world can limit future temperature increases to 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees
Fahrenheit) this shows that there is a way to stop it, if all countries just work together to clean up our
atmosphere (Peters). In the first TED talk by Daan Roosegaarde entitled, A smog vacuum cleaner and
other magical city designs , he describes a way to clean up smog from the atmosphere (Roosegaarde).
He created the world s

The Wide Spread Problem Of Graffiti Culture
Graffiti art is a world wide spread problem, it does not just occur in one part of the world. As stated,
Professor Snyder, 40, argues that while graffiti culture emerged around the same time as hip hop, in
the early 1970s, graffiti in fact comes from a variety of cultural sources (Chan, 2009, p.1). For a fact,
it is not a specific type of person doing it either, these petty crimes. It could be anyone around you:
Whatever their class, race, ethnicity religion, or age, writers define themselves not by what they look
like, or what language they speak, or what clothes they wear, but by what they do. Their identities are
as writers first, and as members of ethnic, religious, and other subgroups second (Chan, 2009, P.1).
In the beginning it was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Or why would someone draw that. For example, [f]or many who catch sight of a tag or a mural on a
wall, their glance leads quickly to speculation as to why someone wrote that word or drew an image in
such a place (Halsey Young, 2006, p.3). Many questions asked and are only answered by, [t]he
sociality of shared peer activity is another important reason why writers are attracted to graffiti culture
( Halsey Young, 2006, p.4). Academic writing on graffiti has approached it in a number of ways,
encompassing its analysis as sociological subculture, as juvenile delinquency, as a historical
phenomenon and as a regulatory problem (Halsey Young, 2006, p.2). There is said that many young
adults like to do graffiti art because it causes a rush through there body they get. A reaction that feels
good enough for them to express themselves over graffiti. A theory was shared, [b]roken windows
theory, which holds that low level and petty crimes, if not addressed, create an atmosphere conductive
to more serious and violent crimes (Chan, 2009, p.2). Many believe if they do not stop crimes young
or discipline kids at a young age it cause more violent people in the future. Graffiti is not just a crime
in many ways it is more than people see it as just like shared, I m not trying to make an argument that
graffiti is art and not vandalism, Professor snyder said in a phone interview, I hope I ve made it clear
that it s both (Chan, 2009, p.2). [t]he shifting threshold between art and vandalism : writers reactions
to blank surfaces and clean spaces, with other criminal activities (Halsey Young, 2006, p.2). Every

Coastline Erosion Research Paper
The very nature of our ocean is to rise and fall, to sway with the pull of the moon, and to churn
violently as the winds howl. The ocean has been this way since its inception and it will continue to do
so as the arrow of time marches on. There have been cycles in which the nature of the ocean has
wavered, but an equilibrium is kept, and life adapts. However, in our grotesque folly, we have decided
that this should no longer be the case. We have changed the nature of our oceans so suddenly that life
is crushed by force exerted through this change. Temperatures rise without regard to ecosystem or
environment. Glaciers sweat profusely from the bombardment of heat. Sea levels rise. The importance
of the oceans to the world at large cannot be understated. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the sea rises, the waves push more into the coast and drag the coastal deposits back into the ocean.
Similar to hill sides and mountain sides that experience erosion when they have low or no existing
vegetation to protect from the eroding effects of the weather, coastlines face the issue of erosion as
well. If this were to happen, the recession of coastline ecosystem may lead to more damaging effects
due to the sea and its weather on the nearby land area and people. Fortunately, the effects of coastline
erosion can be somewhat mitigated. With regards to diminishing coasts, there will be a massive
displacement of people. As the sea level rises, the current coastlines will recede. Unfortunately, there
are large portions of people who live near coasts. This is especially true on islands. With the sea level
rising, we will need to find ways to take care of the people that will leave the area and the large
amount of damage done by the encroaching coast line. There are remedies to these issues, one of
which is build up fortifications against the sea rise. The sea rise can be mitigated through various
means. One of these is to build a wall that will keep water out of areas that are near the sea and in
danger of flooding or destruction due to sea level

Coca Col Transparency, The Formation Of Sustainability...
Coca Cola CSR Accountability Due to the vastly growing demand for organizational transparency, the
formation of sustainability indices has assisted prospective investors by serving as educational tools
and allowing them to confidently engage with companies who create a positive social and
environmental impact. These indices, such as the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), evaluate and
measure some of the world s most profitable companies based on criteria such as economic, social,
and environmental efforts (ESG) (S P Dow Jones Indices, 2015). Additionally, the Global 100 is
comprised of organizations who generate a minimum of two billion U.S. dollars per year and have
been screened in four areas, including sustainability disclosure, F score (financial), product category,
and sanctions (Corporate Knights, 2015b). Consequently, Coca Cola has been able to secure a spot on
at least one index in the past two years due to their excellence in the criteria mentioned above. While
these indices provide an investor with an objective evaluation of a firm, an examination into company
s annual sustainability report can offer in depth look into their internal competencies as it relates to
their specific sustainability goals and current progress. Therefore, after a thorough analysis and
comparison of Coca Cola s Sustainability Report (2015) and the methodology for both indices, many
similarities and differences are depicted that highlight both the strengths and limitations of all three

Essay On Great Expectations
Dickens Great Expectations follows and examines the life of a fictional character, Pip, who lives in
and falls victim to a world that despises the common man. Ever since his parents death, his
overbearing sister and conceited uncle instilled in him the belief that he was worthless as a poor youth.
He initially sought refuge with his sister s affectionate husband, Joe, until the beautiful Estella made
him feel a deep inferiority for the first time, in which he began to see an inferiority in Joe and his work
as a blacksmith. Pip continues to struggle with his self esteem until he becomes an educated
gentleman, and becomes just as condescending as Estella, and to some extent, Mrs. Joe. Even with a
newfound confidence, he still cannot find ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Joe and, later, Pip. It is important to note that it would be incorrect to say that all commoners are
completely worthless since then they would boast the same rank as those who are considered even less
than common, especially thieves and prisoners. For example, Magwitch, whose first memory is one of
theft, is the true embodiment of a worthless man; he even describes himself as a wretched warmint or
a bloodhound. Those who know that society only has hurt them still succumb to its degrading system.
Dickens also points out that, other than Biddy, Joe is the only early influence on Pip who does not fall
victim to the widespread hate of commonness. Mrs. Joe s side clearly has the majority: at Christmas
dinner all the guests, especially that swindling Pumblechook, ridiculed Pip, associating his nature with
that of a pig. When Pip went to become apprenticed to Joe, onlookers believed he would be tried as a
criminal: He s a young un, too, but [he] looks bad, don t he? In the scene, words such as bound, red
handed, and custody convey a sense that simply the way Pip appears on the outside makes the trip to
the court feel like a criminal trial. Dickens also applies this argument to the wealthy. The first time Pip
met the beautiful Estella, who spoke to him with disdain, and made him ashamed of my hands. If Pip s
childhood did anything for him, it convinced him that beauty,

Historical Study Of Sweetness And Power
#9;Sweetness and Power is a historical study of sugar and its affect on society and economy since it
was first discovered. Sugar has had a large impact on society and the economy that is not noticeable
unless thoroughly studied. The following is an analysis of the work done by Sidney W. Mintz in his
attempt to enlighten the quot;educated layperson quot;.
#9;Mintz uses a very basic system for organizing the tremendous amount of data found within in the
book. The book is divided into 5 chapters: quot;Food, Sociality, and Sugar quot;, quot;Production
quot;, quot;Consumption quot;, quot;Power quot;, and quot;Eating and Being quot;. Each of these
chapters discusses different issues dealing with the main idea while moving in a more ... Show more

By then, sugar and consumer items like it had become too important to permit an archaic
protectionism to jeopardize future metropolitan supplies. Sugar surrendered its place as luxury and
rarity and became the first mass produced exotic necessity of a proletarian working class.
#9;Chapter three, the most lengthy chapter entitled quot;Consumption quot;, finishes the discussion,
first introduced in chapter two, of how sugar became less of a symbol of power and more of a
necessity for the common person. In chapter two, however, Mintz described this change by relating it
to the economy. In the third chapter, Mintz describes the change in a manner relating it to societal
values. Sugar s various purposes are described in great length, among which included preservation,
decoration, medicinal use, as well as a spice. Sugar as a sweetener was given much of the credit for
the shift of its use amongst various groups of people. Mintz writes on page 108:
Sugar as a sweetener came to the fore in connection with these other exotic imports – tea, coffee, and
chocolate – of which one, tea, became and has since remained the most important nonalcoholic
beverages in the United Kingdom.
#9;Mintz contends that as sugar began to infiltrate the British diet, its popularity and demand began to
increase. As the demand went up, so did the supply, causing

Problem Associated With Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy ( Dmd )
One major problem associated with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is the prevalence of
fibrosis that occurs in the skeletal muscles, heart, and lungs of these patients. In the heart and lungs,
fibrosis inhibits the body s ability to perform cardiopulmonary or respiratory function, respectively.
These conditions typically result in death if no emergency medical attention is given. Fibrosis can also
present as contractures in the skeletal muscle fibers, which will usually result in the loss of skeletal
muscular function and the need for surgery.
DMD is caused by a mutation in the X linked dystrophin gene, which results in a dysfunctional
dystrophin protein. Dystrophin is a cytoskeletal protein that provides mechanical stability to muscle
cells by connecting the muscle sarcolemma to the basal lamina of the extracellular matrix (ECM), and
without it there, the muscle cells typically undergo a process of degeneration and regeneration. This
process is limited by the survival of satellite cells present since satellite cells can only undergo mitosis
a limited amount of times. Sarcolemma instability typically results in excess intracellular amounts of
both sodium and calcium, which causes ATP depletion and mitochondrial uncoupling (Horn Schleip,
2012). Satellite cells only have a limited number times they can undergo mitosis, and once a patient
can no longer generate healthy muscle cells, the patient will typically experience cell death. This cell
death and necrosis usually

Bodybuilding In The 1970 s
The 1970 s was a major time period for bodybuilding, some say the most important time period for
this sport. From the best bodybuilder ever to live breaking records and winning titles to poems about
the life of a bodybuilder. The main topic for this essay is American Culture in the 70s but to
summarize it down, bodybuilding is what the topic is because without the 70s, bodybuilding would
not be as popular as it is today. Arnold Schwarzenegger is the best bodybuilder known to man. Reason
is because he had the drive, the determination , the mind set to never give up and always keep pushing
yourself. The 70s was the biggest time period for him because he won his Mr.Olympia 7 times in a
row. In the 70s people were confused about bodybuilders ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

uncommon for bodybuilders not to use steroids or some other hormone drug for performance

The 1970s was a unique time in the American Culture that when examined casts a view that takes
place in American society. Bodybuilding was a major thing in this decade from the film Pumping Iron
having a major role in bodybuilding to racial, citizen roles Arnold and Franco and just every other non
citizen had to face with. But it showed how there is and can be success in the United States if you set
your mind to something a do it and never give up on yourself and never quit grinding and always stay
hungry. Bodybuilding too many is addicting and they can t stop grinding, for an example, Arnold and
Franco at the ages of 70 years old are still in their old gym Gold s Gym which bodybuilder Ken Waller
who was is in Pumping Iron owns Gold s Gym and runs it still this day. So if there was a message in
this essay it would be to never give up, always push your self and never wanna be like everyone

Trump V. Hilary Case Study
Trump v. Hilary: Finding Clarity in the Chaos As a barely twenty year old junior at a sheltered private
college, I have to confess that it s been very hard to conceptualize and realize the severity of the 2016
election. What started off as a race of what seemed like a million different candidates, the polls
quickly zoned in on two candidates we could ve never predicted to be the voting citizens final choice.
It s both overwhelming, and simple, deceitful, and truthful this election seems to be full of
contradictions and half truths, and the opaque nature of a once seemingly transparent media
complicates matters further in an election that seems convoluted even on paper. Along with the
legislative branch, the media itself has turned into a monster we never thought we d have to wrangle.
We are surrounded by propaganda, caricatures, and cartoons everywhere we turn, especially in print
media like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By observing two separate covers of The New Yorker depicting Hilary Rodham Clinton and Donald
John Trump in two very different lights, we can explore the volatility of the election as revealed
through the overly satirical (yet still somber) manipulation of this peculiar electoral race. As with most
electoral races, the media takes on the role of portraying images of candidates to the public. The
motives behind these conscious, deliberate decisions vary greatly, but the results are always interesting
to dissect. Starting with the June 20, 2016 issue of The New Yorker, we see a depiction of Secretary
Clinton mid fight, sitting in the corner of a boxing ring (appropriate following the death of
Muhammad Ali), sporting her confident, signature grin despite all the

The North China Plain ( Ncp )
22 The North China Plain (NCP) is currently standing between the prosperous
23 economic growth and the severe water crisis. Its important economic role in the nation
24 can be easily seen through statistics: In 2013, its GDP amounted to 15 trillion Yuan (1
25 Yuan 0.16 USD), about 26% of the whole nation. Its industrial value added
26 accounted for 42% of the region s GDP, reflecting its high level of industrialization
27 (NBSC, 2014). However, its water resources condition is mismatched with the
28 economic development. The region possesses less than 5% of the nation s water
29 resources (NBSC, 2014). The average per capita water resource is 330 m3 (NBSC,

A series of measures
40 have been implemented to rescue NCP from the water crisis. The South to North
41 Water Diversion Project (SNWDP) is one of these measures. The basic conception of
42 the project is to borrow some water from the Yangtze river to the water scarce NCP. 43 The first
phase of the project has just been completed in the end of 2014. The project
44 is envisaged to alleviate the water pressure in NCP, provide water for the
45 rehabilitation of the degraded ecosystems, and secure a balanced development for the
46 whole nation (Liu and Zheng, 2002; Berkoff, 2003; Gu, et al., 2012).
47 In contrast to the visible real water transfer, an invisible or hidden water
48 movement also takes place between NCP and the rest of the country as well as the
49 other countries. That is virtual water, the water used for the production of goods and
50 services (Allan, 1993). The concept of virtual water provides an additional perspective
51 to view the relationship between economic activities and use of natural resources. As
52 one of the economic hubs in China, NCP is closely connected with other regions and
53 countries through trade of goods and services. The virtual water embodied in these
54 goods and services has posed significant impacts on the water resources of NCP.
55 There have been many studies on issues relating to water transfer in China. In
56 these studies, the real water and virtual water are

So all the other major players have to keep the prices lower than iPhone, because iPhone has the most market share and has a strong customer brand loyalty. * To summarize, entry into the smartphone industry is not HIGH but to sustain and compete against the major giants is close to impossible. 2.) Competitive Rivalry within the industry: High Consumer base: Each firm targets a different set of audience but most of the time overlapping audience. For e.g Apple targets high end customers, Nokia targets the common and the sophisticated customers, RIM targets the enterprise. But the consumer base keeps changing with the change in the dynamics of the industry. For e.g most of the enterprise clients are shifting to Apple because of the innovative design of the products offered. Highly Competitive market: The rivalry in the industry is because of the major players already competing b/w each other. The major firms being Apple, Samsung, RIM, Nokia PALM and HTC. Although each firm has their own strengths and weaknesses which might be related to design of product or marketing or cost of handsets. Competitive Margins: Because of a large number of key players in the phone industry and the cut throat competition. Every firm is forced to keep the profit margins per sale low and hence attract more customers. Also the economic crisis during 2008 2009 has made the companies lower their pricing and thus improve sales. 3.) Negotiating Power of Buyers: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Richard Wagner The Sadie Wagner case is laced with great opportunity that failed to bloom. What occurred in Germany was an instance of an excellent employee encountering a mismatch of work cultures and expectations. Much like planting a seed in an empty vase, there was little chance for success in the long term. For the sake of productivity, we must understand the conditions that lead to Sadie s withdrawal from the position to avoid repeated mistakes in future expatriates assignments. The first issue that must be addressed is the lack of engagement for Sadie s aspirations. It is understandable that Sadie, as a dedicated employee with defined career goals, would desire a challenging but rewarding work environment. Thus, when she began feeling underutilized and prohibited from taking initiative as she was wont to do in her previous position, this established a significant disconnect between Sadie and her workplace. With this in mind, it is unsurprising that she departed the company shortly after the aboard project concluded. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. What Are The Similarities Between Ancient Egypt And... In societies around the world people follow a certain religion. They believe either in a single deity or many deities. In Ancient Greek and Egypt they believed in many deities. Many included females. Ancient Egyptian and Greek societies had similar female goddesses despite distance. But although they had similarities they also have differences between them. Hathor is the Egyptian goddess of female sexuality and love. Also music, dance and inebriation. She brought fertility and protected women in childbirth. She is a funerary goddess but unlike Isis specialized in the rebirth in afterlife. With other goddess like Tefnut, Nut and Sakhmet they are angry goddesses . They have a dual nature as being bring both fertility and new life. But also seen as dangerous and bringing destruction. Hathor is the daughter of Ra and considered the eye of Ra . Ra wanted to destroy mankind but he grew old. As he grew older he asked her to help him and became Sekhmet and took on a job of vengeance. She became the warrior goddess of destruction and war. She is the goddess of war, fire, heat and vengeance. Along with enchantments, mummifications, hunting, wild animals and courage. Sekhmet became known as the lioness goddess or the scarlet lady for her known lust for blood. She feels delight in killing people and drinking their blood. Ra became worried that Sekhmet would slaughter all mankind. So he tricked her by mixing red dye and ale and pouring it across the land. Claiming it was blood she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Chaucer s Canterbury Tales The Character of the Parson of Canterbury Tales Geoffrey Chaucer is considered by many critics as the father of English literature. His literary masterpiece was The Canterbury Tales. In these tales, Chaucer writes about pilgrims who are on a journey to Canterbury. Each pilgrim has a tale that they tell on this journey. Chaucer expresses themes and messages through the characterization of each pilgrim. Through the Parson, one of the pilgrims, Chaucer is able to portray the life of a true Christian through the general prologue, prologue to the Parson s tale, and the Parson s tale itself. In the general prologue, Chaucer introduces the reader to the Parson. He is a holy minded man of good renown (475). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He is not seen as a high ranking, political clergy member. The Parson is a true example (501) of a genuine Christian living a Christ like life. He, being learned (478), knew and taught the gospel. He was not hypocritical nor did scrupulosity (522) poison his character. Chaucer himself greatly admires the Parson saying, I [Chaucer] think there never was a better priest (520). Chaucer continues to praise and respect the Parson in the prologue to the Parson s tale. He writes on how the Parson declines not to tell a story, but rather to use the opportunity to preach to the other pilgrims. The Parson shows characteristics of living a Christian life through his efforts to spread the word. He chooses to enlighten the pilgrims of a true spiritual purpose rather than to entertain them with lavish stories. In addition, Chaucer shows how the Parson is clear minded in the prologue. The Parson is continuously focused on spreading the gospel and is not distracted but material things. He chooses a life of servant hood and virtue over wealth, fame, and glory In the Parson s tale itself, Chaucer is able to present the Parson s understanding of the earthly life. Through the teaching of the seven deadly sins, the readers realize the impact of sin and its potential to poison spiritual life. The Parson show how wise and knowledgeable he is through his ethical teachings of the sins. He first warns ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Dodge Challenger Rhetorical Analysis Essay Free, new, 50% off advertising, an immensely paramount aspect in today s society, has the ability to promote or demote a newly developed product. With such a vast array of public notices, it s crucial that they appeal to people psychologically, using rhetorical devices. During an expedition for the most complex, eye catching ad, I was fortunate enough to stumble upon the 2010 Dodge Challenger. Astounded by the multiplex of this advertisement, my inner curiosity was enkindled. In this persuasive notice, the appeals to ethos, pathos, and logos are strategically used to persuade the target audience that the 2010 Dodge Challenger is the car for them. Visual Aesthetics The foremost president of the United States, George Washington, proudly stands before a beautifully built piece of machinery, the 2010 Dodge Challenger. In this dream like scene, the absence of color draws the viewer s eyes toward our beloved past president and the glossy black Challenger behind him in the clearing. Factually, more men are captivated by cars than women, which can be seen in the prior statistics. It s only logical that Dodge would place an ad for the Challenger in a magazine that men worship instead of Seventeen Magazine. A subscription to Motor Trend can range anywhere from 12 issues for 10 dollars to 24 issues for 18 dollars (Subscribe). If an individual can afford the fee for the magazine, then he or she must have some form of disposable income. Also, individuals with a large amount of disposable income tend to be content and act in a more patriotic manner. • 8. The Cultural Impact Of Electricity And The World We Live In today s world nothing is more important than the gadgets we use on a every day to day basis. What we take for granted sometimes is the thing we use most and most importantly we use to charge everything most of the time is some type of electricity. I hope to provide a clear and concise paper that details and gives the cultural impact of electricity and the world we live. This paper will hit on three topics reconstruction to the beginning of where man first began to harness electricity, how man used this electricity to change the course of history as we know it, and the positives as well as the negatives of electricity and the world we live in. Electricity is a form of energy involving the flow of electrons. All matter is made up of atoms, and an atom has a center, called a nucleus. The nucleus contains positively charged particles called protons and uncharged particles called neutrons (Joseph, 2002)The nucleus of an atom is surrounded by negatively charged particles called electrons. The negative charge of an electron is equal to the positive charge of a proton, and the number of electrons in an atom is usually equal to the number of protons (Joseph, 2002).When the balancing force between protons and electrons is upset by an outside force, an atom may gain or lose an electron. When electrons are lost from an atom, the free movement of these electrons constitutes an electric current (Joseph, 2002). The notion (idea) of belonging is explored through the dynamics between conforming to social influence and maintaining perception of self identity. This is reflected in Peter Skrzynecki s poem Feliks Skrzynecki which highlights the struggles of migrants, in this case, his father of trying to belong and not feeling like an outcast. Peter examines how an inherent (existing in something) desire to belong to a group or community may have caused them to deny aspects of identity. There are three main types of honor that society recognizes; family, men, and women and in The Heptameron, Marguerite de Navarre portrays each of the three types of honor throughout her stories. However, there are often a number of complications that follow honor that lie with classified and understandably honorable deeds or traits, and who is it that determines this. That quote, by Canadian philosopher Marshall McLuhan, tells about how humans need to all work together in order to keep earth habitable. Daan Roosegaarde used that quote in his TED talk about ways to clear smog from the air by using giant vacuums. Additionally, Argentine artist, Tomás Saraceno described a way of both cleaning up and creating new ways of living during his TED talk. He talked about building bubbles made of plastic, that have been left in the ocean, in order for them to raise up into the air and have people to live in them. Neither of these men described ways of stopping the abuse of the earth, but instead lectured about ways to clean up the pollution. Since both of these men are artists, they come up with creative ways to benefit the world. While Saraceno s ideas are well meaning, Roosegaarde s design is just more reasonable. In order to further understand the environmental problems facing this planet, it is important to know just how bad the atmosphere is being polluted. The primary pollutant in the atmosphere is carbon dioxide, and it is infecting the atmosphere at an outstanding rate. This carbon dioxide goes into the air, and creates what is known as fog. Every second, 2.4 million pounds of carbon dioxide is being emitted ( Carbon dioxide emissions rise to 2.4 million pounds per second ). This number is still on the rise, with no real successful efforts to stop it yet. To enlarge the scale, each year the carbon dioxide emissions rise to about one billion more tons than the previous year. Because emissions of the key greenhouse gas have been rising steadily and most carbon stays in the air for a century, it is not just unlikely but rather optimistic to think that the world can limit future temperature increases to 2 degrees Celsius (3.6 degrees Fahrenheit) this shows that there is a way to stop it, if all countries just work together to clean up our atmosphere (Peters). The ocean has been this way since its inception and it will continue to do so as the arrow of time marches on. There have been cycles in which the nature of the ocean has wavered, but an equilibrium is kept, and life adapts. However, in our grotesque folly, we have decided that this should no longer be the case. It is important to note that it would be incorrect to say that all commoners are completely worthless since then they would boast the same rank as those who are considered even less than common, especially thieves and prisoners. For example, Magwitch, whose first memory is one of theft, is the true embodiment of a worthless man; he even describes himself as a wretched warmint or a bloodhound. Those who know that society only has hurt them still succumb to its degrading system. Dickens also points out that, other than Biddy, Joe is the only early influence on Pip who does not fall victim to the widespread hate of commonness. Mrs. Joe s side clearly has the majority: at Christmas dinner all the guests, especially that swindling Pumblechook, ridiculed Pip, associating his nature with that of a pig. When Pip went to become apprenticed to Joe, onlookers believed he would be tried as a criminal: He s a young un, too, but [he] looks bad, don t he? • 29. Problem Associated With Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy ( Dmd ) One major problem associated with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is the prevalence of fibrosis that occurs in the skeletal muscles, heart, and lungs of these patients. In the heart and lungs, fibrosis inhibits the body s ability to perform cardiopulmonary or respiratory function, respectively. These conditions typically result in death if no emergency medical attention is given. Fibrosis can also present as contractures in the skeletal muscle fibers, which will usually result in the loss of skeletal muscular function and the need for surgery. DMD is caused by a mutation in the X linked dystrophin gene, which results in a dysfunctional dystrophin protein. Dystrophin is a cytoskeletal protein that provides mechanical stability to muscle cells by connecting the muscle sarcolemma to the basal lamina of the extracellular matrix (ECM), and without it there, the muscle cells typically undergo a process of degeneration and regeneration. This process is limited by the survival of satellite cells present since satellite cells can only undergo mitosis a limited amount of times. Sarcolemma instability typically results in excess intracellular amounts of both sodium and calcium, which causes ATP depletion and mitochondrial uncoupling (Horn Schleip, 2012). Satellite cells only have a limited number times they can undergo mitosis, and once a patient can no longer generate healthy muscle cells, the patient will typically experience cell death.
