Case Study Of Star Alliance
Executive summary
Since the 1990s the alliances in the airline industries is common and there are three major airline
alliances which are present in the world are OneWorld, SkyTeam and Star Alliance. These alliances of
airlines have covered almost two third of world air traffic industry and the major contribution in this is
Star Alliance. The strategic alliances on the part of the airlines are done because of many advantages
which not only organizations reap but also the other stakeholders which are involved in this type of
alliances. This research paper is evaluation of why the strategic alliances are important and why the
organizations go into the strategic alliances the case study of star alliance was taken as the reference

Learning, specialization and fix cost distribution can spread over larger output with economies of
scales (Albers, Koch and Ruff, 2005). Three strategies were opted as motivation by the airlines to
create an alliance (i) mergers and acquisitions, (ii) setting up low cost carriers and (iii) air alliances.
Air alliance was considered as the most sustainable strategy by the Star airline. Through the strategic
alliance, the airline had an opportunity to expand and become large but at the same time they can
lower their cost by creating the competitive advantage that is why Start Alliance opted for this option
(Cojohari, 2015).
2.2 Marketing and Branding
Airline behavior could not be explained effectively with changing cost structure. In the bottom line of
any alliance marketing strategies and demand response are important. With Star Alliance, the airline
can offer their consumers large and denser global network of airlines with smooth connections among
airlines. Airlines have demands with competitive prices in Star Alliance due to economies of scope,
scale and density. In Star Alliance partners are able to offer better products and services due to airlines
increased capacity to retain and generate passengers (Cullen, Johnson and Sakano, 2000).

How Did The American Revolution Lead To The Cuban Revolution
Pre Revolutionary Cuba was under rule of a dictatorship, Fulgencio Batista. Foreigners saw Cuba as a
land enchantment and as paradise. People visited the casinos and there was a substantial amount of
prostitution. For the native s of Cuba, there was an economic imbalance between the social classes.
Cubans had various reasons for disliking their current government. For example, they were under
Batista s rule and the United States had a large amount of influence on what happened in Cuba. This
lead to a feeble economy and government, many would wonder why the economy was weak even
though Cuba was a hot spot for tourism. With the thriving tourism market, there were large amounts of
unequal distribution of wealth. With this Cuba had such a vast difference between social classes that
eventually led to the now infamous Cuban Revolution. The citizens of Cuba were in a state of
discontent prior to the Revolution, this occurred for various for example the dictatorship of Fulgencio
Batista and the United States having such a large say in what occurred on the island. Cuba had been an
island that had originally been colonized by the Spanish; shortly after the Spanish American War of

The Journey Of Glinda In Wizard Of Oz
This journey begins with Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, (computer) sending Dorothy, an Oz
adventurist, (pulse) on a quest to find the Wizard of Oz. Many people throughout the Land of Oz have
been reporting to Glinda that the Great and Powerful Oz is missing. Because Glinda is tasked with the
safe keeping of Munchkin Land (transducer) she is unable to travel to the Emerald City and check on
the Wizard herself. Glinda summons Dorothy (pulse creation in computer) to Munchkin Land where
she is greeted by many excited Munchkins (crystals). Before Dorothy can begin her journey she is
given the gift of a pair of ruby slippers (matching layer). These will help her travel safely through the
lines of Munchkins and on to the Yellow Brick Road (gel), which will allow her to continue into the
Land of Oz and locate the wizard (Exit from transducer into body).Glinda knows the Lollipop kids

Creation of The Butterflies
We cannot allow our children to grow up in this corrupt and tyrannical regime, we have to fight
against it, and I am willing to give up everything, including my life if necessary. (Patria Mercedes
Mirabal)
Discuss this quote in relation to the situation that the Mirabal sisters and their families found
themselves in their fight for survival against the Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo s horrendous
regime. You need to refer to the events and situations that lead the sister s to create the counter
revolutionary group The Butterflies.

by the bubonic plague, the bombing of Pearl Harbour and the Rwandan Genocide. However, none of

It did not take a genius to see that Minerva s hatred had true root within her heart, and her extensive
knowledge of the dictators corruption just drove this even more so.
The youngest sister, Maria Teresa is often portrayed in a light of innocence and this enforced by her
quiet nature. Throughout her narration she refers to death a lot, discussing it as a fear and having
recurring dreams of a coffin. This was evident to the effect her fathers death had on her. Her marriage
to Leandro and birth of daughter Jacqueline brings her out of her shell and like her elder sisters, she
joins the fight with same tenacity.
The second sister, Dedè was the only sister not a confident member of the revolutionary movement,
and the only one who survived Trujillo s reign. Her husband Jaimito was the reason for her lack of
participation and the father to her three children, Enrique, Rafael and David. It was Dedè caution that
saved her life but led her too much regret when conflict began to tear Dedè and her husband apart.
Whilst her suspicions about her sisters being killed were always very real, she never thought that her
worst fear would come true.
The final revolt saw The Butterflies with six official standing members; the Mirabal sisters and their
husbands. Their children and various members of other revolutionary groups had also been identified.
The movement met weekly in Monte Cristi at the home

Compare And Contrast The Scientific Revolution And John Locke
Essay#2
The Scientific Revolution resulted in many discoveries and inspired people to think differently. This
led to people changing their views on enlightenment. Some, such as John Locke, thought rights were
the way to go. Others, such as BDM, believed government could ensure happiness. There were even
people, like Voltaire, believed a voice could solve all problems. John Locke was an English thinker
from the seventeenth century who lived through the English Civil War. John Locke was against
powerful government because, unlike others, he believed that people were reasonable and moral. He
also believed in natural rights. Natural rights were rights given to people at birth. They differed from
other rights because natural rights cannot be taken away. There are three natural rights: life, liberty and
the pursuit of happiness. Locke also argued that people formed governments, not to impose order, but
to protect everyone s natural rights. The U.S put these natural rights in their constitution. Because of
these three rights, we don t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His was born Charles Louis de Secondat but he later inherited the title Baron de Montesquieu from his
uncle. Montesquieu believed that government was the key to enlightenment. He felt that the best way
to protect liberty was to divide the powers in government. He came to this conclusion after years of
research. Montesquieu studied the governments of England and Italy. He even read about ancient
Chinese and Native American government systems. In his book The Spirit of the Laws he discusses
different forms of government throughout history. His book also includes sharp criticism of absolute
monarchy and explains why he supports dividing powers. Montesquieu s government consisted of
three branches: the judicial, legislative, and executive. He felt this was the best because the three
branches could check each other. This idea heavily influenced our Founding

My Lost Vacation
One of the best vacations I have been on is when I went to Las Vegas, Nevada, becuase it s one out of
the two vacations I ve ever been on. I went on this trip with my mom and my dad. This was the first
time my parents and I have been to Vegas.
One of the main reasons we went to Vegas was for the Motocross Championships. We left early in the
morning at 5:00 am to make out flight in Cedar Rapids. We flew to Denver, Colorado and then flew
from Denver to Las Vegas arriving sometime in the middle of the day. When we got to Las Vegas we
went to get a car rental. We met this cool guy that we rented the car from because he gave us a good
deal by giving us a mid size car rental but only charging us for a compact size car. After we got our car
rental we went to go eat at the Mexican restaurant. This Mexican restaurant looked like this old beat
down little building but was a bomb restaurant. This Mexican restaurant was one of the best
restaurants I have ever eaten at. It was amazingly delicious. After all our bellies were full we decided
to go see the Vegas strip where all the famous buildings and places were.
Later after we were done exploring we went back to our resort and wandered around, then went to
bed. The time schedule was different so we were staying up till about 2 in the morning from Vegas,
but about 12 pm in Iowa. The next morning we wake up and go downstairs and get a cup of Starbucks
coffee. After we got our coffee we would go hang out by the pool outside or I would

Are People Really Good At Heart
Despite Anne s ordeal she said, ¨In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at

Most of Anne s feelings were sympathetic and positive towards others. She felt this way because she
was forgiving, she knew that these people who threatened Anne s life had some good left inside of

part of the main story plot. The first love was between Queen Semiramis and Lanval (Norton

Queen Semiramis share a love that is supposed to be hidden instead of flaunted throughout the lands.

Indiana Jones Research Paper
There is a reason that Indiana Jones does not like snakes. They are dangerous. That being said, it is
rare, to be bitten by a snake and die from it; at least when compared to dying of auto accident, cancer,
or heart disease. Some snakes have venom, but it is not deadly Some do not have any venom at all, but
it is the way the snake wraps itself around you and tightens its grip until it kills you. Tropical areas are
the best place to find a lot of these snakes. Here is my top ten list of the most dangerous snake species
in the world.

copperhead weighs anywhere from eight to twelve ounces. The venom is fairly painful. Hides itself ...

bite can be as little as seventy milligrams and as high as 236 milligrams. They hide in wait, when they
hear humans coming, to strike; this increases their risk of being stepped on, but they are much more
dangerous to strike.
8. Cottonmouth
Also referred to as the water moccasin, the bite is more harmful and deadly than that of the
copperhead, but does not lead to death. That much, anyway. It is more aggressive than the copperhead,
but only bites when it is touched. More aggressive reputation and strikes a ready to bite pose. The
snake can get up to six feet long.
7. Common krait
Often considered India s most dangerous snake. The venom contains highly powerful neurotoxins
which cause the muscles to become paralyzed. It has two kinds of neurotoxins (postsynaptic and
presynaptic) that usually affect the nerve endings located close to the synaptic cleft of the brain.
6. Inland Taipan
This snake has the most venom, more than any other snake in the world. If left untreated, the death
rate from a bite from this snake is eighty percent. That being said, this snake does not usually bite, is
actually easy going, and stays away from confrontation.

The Characterization of Miss Brill in Miss Brill by...
In the Bedford Introduction to Literature, Characterization is defined as ... the process by which a
writer makes that character seem real to the reader (2126). In order to do this a writer has multiple
tools at their disposal that add to the depth of a character and simplify roles in a story. This includes
the use of Protagonists and Antagonists, static and dynamic characters, showing and telling, and
motivated and plausible action, as well as many others. The short story Miss Brill by Katherine
Mansfield is no exception to this and displays the main character of Miss Brill as the protagonist, who
is confronted with the reality of her existence.
In order to bring us closer to Miss Brill, Mansfield uses the technique of showing, by ... Show more

This is also a nice example of the fore mentioned method of showing, allowing the reader to draw the
conclusion of the situation alone.
One of the most vital elements of the story though is the classification of Miss Brill as a dynamic
character. Being a dynamic character entail that the knowledge about the character grows and that
some kind of change takes place because of the action occurring in the plot. In Miss Brill this hinges
on the fact that Miss Brill spends her time alone, with almost no actual human contact. Her only
means of living life is through that of those around her, she watches their actions, listens to their
conversations and acts like a hidden parasite, drawing her own meaning in life by observing others, or
as she put it ... there was always the crowd to watch (Mansfield 259).
The tragedy of the story rests in that she does not see herself as this. She describes some of the other
people in the park as ... they were nearly always the same, Sunday after Sunday, and Miss Brill had
often noticed there was something funny about nearly all of them. They were odd, silent, nearly all
old, and from the way they stared they looked as though they d come just come from dark little rooms
or even even cupboards! (Mansfield 259), this is exactly what she is. Not only does this

Meursault s Death
In the novel, The Stranger, by Albert Camus, Meursault s murder of the Arab helps to illuminate the
meaning of the work as a whole. The Stranger tells the story of Meursault, a man who passively lives
his life until he kills a man and is then put on trial and sentenced to death. The murder of the Arab is
the climax of the novel and signals a shift in Meursault s thought and character. Through Meursault s
killing of the Arab, Camus brings attention to the absurdity of social expectations and shows how it is
possible to change from passivity to consciousness in order to give one s life meaning.

Although he had no clear reason to kill the Arab, in the death scene, Meursault realizes that he can

makes a conscious choice. In Part 1 of the novel, Meursault is simply skimming the surface of his life

drastically awakes him. After the death scene, Meursault becomes more aware of the importance of his

meaning and evaluates his relationship with his mother, Marie, and religion. To Meursault, the sound
of the bullet leaving the gun marks a new beginning, characterized by consciousness and awareness.
Much like Sisyphus, in The Myth of Sisyphus, Meursault is now aware of his burden and his existence
as a result of shooting the Arab. The death scene is the start of Meursault gaining awareness of the

Constitutionality of Stop and Frisk
Abstract
The Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution protects one s rights against unreasonable
searches and seizures. It also states that no warrants shall be issued without probable cause. Probable
cause can be defined as a person of reasonable caution who believes that a crime has been committed
and the person accused has committed that crime. Modern law has afforded police officers an
incentive to respect this amendment, known as the stop and frisk act. The Stop and Frisk law allows
police officers to stop someone and do a quick search of their outer clothing for weapons: if the officer
has a reasonable suspicion that a crime has or is about to take place and the person stopped is armed or

On October 31, 1963, a Cleveland police detective named Martin McFadden saw two men, John W.
Terry and Richard Chilton, standing on a street corner looking suspicious. One would walk by a
certain store window, stare in, and walk back to the other to confer. This was repeated several times,
and the detective believed that they were plotting to do a store robbery. The officer approached the
men and addressed himself as a policeman, and asked their names. When the men appeared suspicious
in their answers, Officer McFadden patted them down and discovered that both men were armed. He
proceeded to remove their guns and arrested them for carrying concealed weapons. Terry was then
sentenced to three years in prison.
Terry appealed the case, claiming that the guns found should be inadmissible in court proceedings as
evidence since his Fourth Amendment rights were violated. The case was appealed to the Supreme
Court, where it was it was ruled that his rights had not been violated.
In an 8 to 1 decision, the Court held that the search undertaken by the officer was reasonable under the

Court found that the officer acted on more than an hunch and that a reasonably prudent

The film itself is regarded by most to be a very entertaining film, due to a number of different factors.
Firstly the film is set in the 2019, giving people a fascinating insight into the future. However the
unusual thing about the future is the dystopian outlook, which is not the habitual preconception we
most have. The special effects and fight scenes did much to increase the entertainment level of the
film. But most of all the aspect of the film that entertains the audience the most is the presence of
Harrison Ford, who still is to this day a huge star. And stars like him make people want to go and
watch a film.
Blade runner addresses some of the eternal questions that humans have asked for centuries, for
example:
What does it mean to be human? What is reality? What is the difference between real memories and
artificial memories? How does our environment affect us? What are the moral issues we face in the
creation of artificial people?
Moreover, Scott s better films reach toward higher truths. Blade Runner, thus, cannot be understood
without comprehending the deeply felt moral, philosophical, ecological and sociological concerns that
are interwoven throughout the story. Take, for instance, the film s title a Blade Runner is one who runs

The decreased amount of fish would result in a decreased amount of food supply for a variety of

The British were renowned for their ability to colonize due to their strong naval resources and
ambition. Among the lands colonized were New Zealand and Australia. Although they are next to each
other on the map, England s territory grabbing past begs the question To what extent does the
colonization of Australia differ from the colonization of New Zealand? The focus of this investigation
is to analyze the reasons for the British colonization of both areas and determine the similarities and
differences between the two.

This source is a primary source as well, which is not necessarily a strength, but is interesting insight to

This source has limitations. Swainson does not discuss the side of the natives (the Maori people) in his
book. This makes it hard for historians to get the full story on what happened in the colonization of
New Zealand. Also, similar to Torrens s work, it only talks about New Zealand, and only mentions
that Australia was another colony. This lack of detail on Australia makes the job of a historian harder
because he/she has to compare more sources than they would have to in order to come to a full
comparison or contrast on the two situations.
Investigation
For centuries, the British have been a strong global power. Their reinforced naval and army powers
made them unstoppable, especially if they were taking over to colonize. Two areas where the British
chose to inhabit were New Zealand and Australia, land masses in the Pacific Ocean closer to
Antarctica than to the continent of Europe ( European Discovery ). The first difference between the
two colonies was their discovery. It is true that they were both discovered around the same time

exhibition explores the idea of illusion and art as illusion (fig. 5), with a focus on artists such as Luis
Camnitzer. The Illusions website explores this theme by creating illusions of space, depth and
movement in a virtual space. The website itself functions as an illusion; although objects and images
fly towards the viewer in a resemblance of the three dimensional, they are still only two dimensional
images in two dimensional space. In comparison to The Curious Gardener, Illusions also uses parallax
scrolling to enable the objects to fly towards and away from the viewer as they scroll through the
website (fig. 6). This gives the user the ability to drive and control the illusions that they are seeing,
becoming an active participator in the exhibition. This use of parallax motion and depth is being used
to innovatively explore objects, ornaments, artworks and furniture, not only in cultural heritage but in
a variety of institutions. A cutting edge example of how parallax scrolling can be used to display
objects is Sony s Be Moved (fig. 7). It is a detailed and technical website that pushes the boundaries of
animation and parallax motion as cameras, laptops and other forms of technical equipment come apart
and are re built as the user scrolls, showing the intricacy and craftsmanship of the objects interiors.

The Pros And Cons Of Hypertension
According to CDC (2016), one out of three American adults suffers from hypertension (HTN). This
accounts for about 75 million or 29% of the adult population in the United States. Uncontrolled HTN
is the leading cause of myocardial infarction, chronic kidney diseases (CKD), strokes, and
hypertensive heart diseases (HHD) (CDC, 2016). According to a report from CDC (2016), HTN costs
48.6 billion dollars including health care expenditures, medications and missed days of work.
According to the Texas Department of State Health Services (2013), among 26,448,196 residents of
Texas, 170.1 death rates related to HHD, 40.1 related to stroke and 15.9 related to CKD consecutively.
AHRQ (2013) health expenditure data demonstrates that the southern region of the United States,
which includes Texas, exceeded the average health expenditure for a hypertensive patient to a cost of
$805 per hypertensive person. Two recent peer review audits of twenty charts at Southmore Medical
Clinic revealed that we were practicing with only a 45% compliance rate with the Joint National
Committee (JNC) 8 guideline recommendations for managing HTN. In Southmore Clinic HTN
management protocol is based on JNC 6 guidelines and HTN parameters are more relaxed due to
patients noncompliance and the physician s laid back attitude. Therefore, the revision of existing
protocol and the aggressive management of HTN is recommended in conjunction with JNC 8
guidelines (see Appendix A for more details). Available

Comparing The Story Of The Old Testament And The New...
Utilizing the understanding of the later definition make is extremely easier to incorporate the narrative
of the Old Testament and the New Testament into one chronicle event moving along the time line to
teach and understand the mission of the church. It follows the events of knowing the story and where
the church came from and where it is headed. Clearly the church is not complete as Jesus has not
returned so the work is still on going. The story continues to be written. Christians today, just as the
Jewish people did back during the times of the Old Testament, need to know the story and to do that
we need to know the scriptures.
The question comes down to how the Old Testament and the New Testament would be formed into
one narrative to accomplish the goal of enhancing the understanding of the mission of the church. To
accomplish this task, I believe Christopher Wright, in his book, summarized the task very well. If one
looks at the Bible from an actual story line the flow from one Testament to the other does exactly that;
it flows. The Old Testament points to the New Testament and the New Testament builds upon the Old
Testament.
The four major sections of the biblical story are Creation, Fall, Redemption in History, and New
Creation . If people begin to think in terms of the Biblical story from Genesis through Revelation and
the realization that the story is not over, it will be simpler to understand how all the time eras in the
Bible relate to each other and

Ghetto In Nazi Germany
While under the jurisdiction of the Nazi Party (1933 1945), Europe s Jewish population experienced
an enormous amount of injustice. This is evident through Jews being denied refuge from nations all
over the globe in the build up to the Second World War. In addition, this belief also becomes apparent
via the isolation of Jewish people in ghettos. Furthermore, the extermination of an estimated 3 million
innocent Jews in death camps proves that Jewish populace suffered a vast amount of prejudice while
the Nazi Party obtained control over Europe.
Many of the Jewish people attempted to flee Europe as life became increasingly more difficult;
however, in their time of need, they were denied refuge in various countries. During the early 1930 s,

part of the Final Solution to the Jewish Question the Nazis structured effort to completely eliminate
the Jewish population (The Danish Centre of Holocaust and Genocide Studies. 2002.). In Chelmno,
over 152 000 Jews were gassed to death using exhausts from trucks. Belzec, Treblinka and Sobibor
were then created under the codename Operation Reinhard the purpose of this Operation being to kill
all Jews in German occupied Poland (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. 2014.). Combined,
approximately 1.75 million Jews perished in these three camps. Additionally, two more death camps
were created in the concentration camps of Majdanek and Auschwitz Birkenau. Majdanek claimed the
lives of 60 000 80 000 Jews. However, it is determined that between 1 and 2 million Jews perished in
Auschwitz. Although gas chambers were the most common method of killing, another practise
included mass shootings. In Majdanek, an estimated 17 18 000 Jews were killed in an act of a mass
shooting in 24 hours. Additionally, the hanging of prisoners was also another killing method. A quote

Analysis Of Money And Class In America By Lewis Lapham
In his book, Money and Class in America, Lewis Lapham states, The ardor of the American faith in
money easily surpasses the intensity achieved by other societies in other times and places. This notion
is the reoccurring theme in Lapham s book. America is so taken with the idea that without money your
achievements do not mean as much as they would if they came with a large sum of cash. We as a
society value money over more important qualities such as knowledge or integrity. If you have wealth
in America you are looked up too, you are respected. Lapham wrote seeing is believing, and if an
American success is to count for anything in the world it must be clothed in the raiment of property.
What Lapham is saying is, if you have money or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To be cool in America you have to have the newest smartphones, the coolest gadgets on the market
and the trendiest clothes. Obviously to get these things you need money, so if you don t have extra
money to splurge on a phone or a new jacket instead of the same holey jacket you ve had for 5 years
you re looked down on. You re branded as an outsider because you don t have what everyone else has.
Laphman states, As often as not it isn t the money itself that means anything; it is the use of money as
the currency of the soul. Lapham is saying that money isn t the end objective for most people; it s the
things they can buy with money that they want. In the movie Clique, there were a group of very
wealthy best friends that thought they were better then everyone. As the movie went on you found out
one of the friends was not as wealthy as the others. You couldn t tell because she spent every penny
she earned on fancy clothes or expensive jewelry. She didn t want her friends to find out because she
knew they thought poor people were below them. That girl represents so many kids that want to fit in
but they don t have the in clothes or the nicer products in life. Those kids then go out and buy the
trendy clothes, not because they want them but because everyone else is wearing it. That same item of
clothing that was so in a couple weeks ago will soon go out of style and everyone else will suddenly

The History Behind The Conflict
The History Behind the Conflict
A conflict that started when the Romans invaded and conquered Judea, the homeland of the Jews, and
claimed it to be Palestine. Later on, Palestine was conquered by the Arabs. For more than a thousand
years, the Arabs have inhabited in Palestine.
With much resentment for those who stole their home of ancient times, there was the creation of the
Zionist Movement. The plan was to bring back Jews to Israel, but with the situations, they were to
overlook the large population of the Arabs located there.
In 1917, Palestine was endowed to Britain. Palestine was acknowledged as a League of Nations
mandate to construct a national home for the Jews. Resentment was now towards the Jewish
population for stealing land that the Arabs claimed as theirs. Riots were commonly repeated, and
following was a revolt. Fabricating the rivalry between the Jews and the Arabs in Palestine.
In 1947, the United Nations rationed the land into states between the Arabs and the Jews. This was not
accepted by the Arabs, so a war was declared. With the Jews being victorious, they extended their
state. The Arab states still refused to recognize Israel or make an attempt to make peace.
With the Jews and the Arabs disagreeing with one another, many wars broke out, terror raids executed,
and the Israeli reprisals.

Method:
Before the commencement of the practical, all necessary glassware and measurement tools were
rinsed appropriately. The pipette was rinsed three times with vinegar solution, whereas the volumetric
flask was rinsed three times with distilled water. 20mL of the vinegar solution was measured and
transferred to the volumetric flask, where it was diluted with distilled water by filling the flask to the
200mL graduation line. A 20ml aliquot of the aforementioned solution was extracted from the
volumetric flask via the volumetric pipette and subsequently transferred to the conical flask. Three
drops of phenolphthalein indicator were then added. The burette was filled with the provided NaOH
solution of 0.1M, with volume measurements taken from the bottom of the meniscus. The conical
flask was placed under the burette, from which a rough titration of the vinegar solution began.
Titrations halted once a permanent color change was visible in the conical flask. This process was
repeated until three concordant titre values were obtained.

World War One s Influences on the Abdication of Tsar...
What was the significance in WW1 in bringing about the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II in March
1917?
The Romanov dynasty began in 1613, however 1917 saw an abrupt end to the Romanov s with the
abdication of Tsar Nicholas II. Demonstrations and strikes gripped the Russian people and with anti
governmental soldiers taking control, the Tsar had no alternative but to abdicate. Historians such as
Michael Lynch1 and John Daborn2 state that in Russia s great need of strength and power came a Tsar
of weakness and limited outlook. However historians such as Ray Pearson believe that in aggressive
opposition groups and with the help of the working class aimed to bring down the Tsardom at all
costs.
The argument that the First World War led to the downfall of the Tsardom in Russia is supported by
how unprepared the military were from the outset and throughout the war. Poor conditions and lack of
weaponry led to low morale. Production of weapons was seriously flawed as seen in the Russian front
at Gorlice, where many soldiers had no rifles and had to wait for a comrade to be killed before taking
his weapon 3. By the end of December 1914, 6,554,000 men had been mobilized with only 4,652,000
rifles available to them 4. Furthermore the appalling conditions that were reported in the Russian
trenches caused outbreaks of diseases such as typhoid and cholera creating tensions amongst Russia s
indestructible army 5. The dreadful conditions caused soldiers to turn against their

Where the Grand Canyon and Lake Mead collide, sits an ecological and historical oasis. The Virgin
Mountains stand tall in the background as waterfront views of Mead paint an unforgettable scene. This
desert abode served as host for early prehistoric inhabitants, Native Americans, early pioneers,
Spanish miners, and presently outdoor enthusiasts. Adventurists have the opportunity to explore over
800 miles of intertwining roads that braid the landscape. Gold Butte has remained one of Mojave s
most precious secrets for decades. This elegant desert hides only an hour and a half drive east of Las
Vegas and just south of Mesquite, Nevada. Gold Butte s ecosystem is comprised of diverse organisms,
many of which are sacred and protected plants and animals. Joshua trees sit nestled deep in the
mineral enriched sand, while the bighorn sheep and tortoise roam the vast desert terrain. The almost
350,000 acres of public land is sculpted with rugged mountains, sandstone outcroppings, yucca
forests, slot canyons, and flat top mesas. Is it possible that a place with such a unique array of wildlife
and history can exist and remain a secret? Unfortunately, due to many factors over the past 20 years,
Gold Butte has been on center stage, but not just for tourism.
The technological uses of smartphones, GPS, digital maps, the internet, and even social websites have
made it inherently impossible to keep public lands a secret. However, Gold

Comparing Beowulf, Grendel s Mother And Hildeburth
In the epic of Beowulf, written by an anonymous Anglo Saxon poet, there are three women that have
pivotal roles, Wealhtheow, Grendel s Mother and Hildeburth. Throughout the epic, we see each of
these women characters play specific roles that are important to the society they are living in. The epic
would not be the same if each woman didn t play their significant part. Each woman plays an
important role either in the mead hall, in the home or in battle. Each of these woman makes for a
successful storyline that goes together flawlessly and makes for a poem that has been read for
centuries and will continue to be read in years to come. Wealhtheow is the Queen of the Spear Danes
and wife of King Hrothgar. She only appears for a short time in the story, but when she does she is in
charge of carrying a goblet of mead around for the warriors to eat. When her husband passes away, she
is nervous about the fate of the Danish Kingdom. She makes a long speech directed towards Beowulf
that she needs to defend her son s rights to the throne. Beowulf shows his heroic and humble quality
here by not taking the throne himself and giving it to who is next in line. Grendel s mother, who is
only referred to as this, is known to be just as massive and monster like as her son. Throughout the
story she is trying to protect her son against death and in doing so she attacks Heorot Hall. While
defending her son, she kills one man but she is now scared of the Geatish warriors and the fight they

Ancient Greek Art And Its Impact On Ancient Greece
Ancient Greek art has been one of the most influential art forms in the past centuries. The Keros
sculptures predominantly stand out while referring to the ancient Greek scluptures and art. The Keros
sculptures were carved purely out of marble and were a form of Cycladic art that was created in a
small island called Cyclades in 2600 2400 B.C. The Cycladic Islands of Greece are set in the Aegean
Sea. The ancient Greeks called these islands the kyklades, a scattered kyklos, or circle, of islands
around the holy island and sanctuary of Apollo, Delos.
The very first Keros sculpture was founded in the year 1963 by Lord Renfrew. The only unfortunate
event that occurred during excavation was that almost none of these Keros sculptures were found in
their complete form. Only fragments of these sculptures remained. It has been noticed, that all through
history, the Keros scultpures have been incrediblly difficult to analyze and interpret due to lack of
background information and it s obvious missing parts. An abudance of myths surround these
sculptures since Ancient Greece is also known for its devotion to Greek mythology. The significance,
use, and meaning of the figures are unclear. There is even debate about whether the figures were
meant to lie flat or to stand against a wall there is no definitive evidence either way. Numerous
explanations about the significance of the figurines have been proposed: the figurines may have been
apotropaic (i.e., to ward off evil) or served as

An Air Of Controversy Regarding Laws Promoting Personal...
There is an air of controversy concerning laws promoting personal and social responsibility and
individual freedom. After all, there is a dire need for social change in a society that is becoming ever
more self centered and materialistic. This social change might come from laws that encourage some
sort of responsibility. For example, in Texas, a future policy for social responsibility could be a ban on
texting and driving. Personal responsibility policies could be limits on welfare benefits and childhood
immunization requirements. While a welfare reform would ease the burden of taxpayers and bans on
texting and driving and requirements of immunization would protect society from harm, these policies
encourage quite a bit of debate. Basically, it is difficult to enact laws that are for the benefit of society
as a whole without interfering or restricting individual freedoms, and vice versa. In the modern day
and age, there are many groups who either demand to keep their rights protected, like minority groups,
or emerging groups that want legislation passed to protect their rights, like the homosexual
community. Of course, there is nothing wrong with these rights, after all, the basic foundation of
democracy guarantees equality. However, the problem arises, as Lloyd put it, when society becomes
selfish and materialistic focusing only on lack of rights and creating a moral dilemma that is slowly
ruining society. Haskins broadens this by defining personal responsibility as

A Quality Improvement Storyboard
A Quality Improvement (QI) Storyboard is an organized way of documenting and displaying the QI
process. Most storyboards use clear, concise and easily understood statements to describe a problem,
identify the cause(s), explain the solution and display the results. Often, pictures and graphs are used
to show data, present results and demonstrate solutions. Furthermore, the QI Storyboard can be used
as an ongoing visual record of a team s progress.
The QI Storyboard should include the following 7 components. When possible, each step should be
expanded upon; explaining the methods used, and potential outcomes achieved.
Step 1 Reason for Improvement. Step 1 determines if a problem exists. If it does, is it a temporary
problem or is it a long term problem. What is the context of the problem and how is its effect
significant in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In step 3, the organized data gathered in step 2 is reviewed and analyzed, looking for factors which
can be changed to in order to improve the situation. Moreover, we want to verify that problems
identified, are most certainly causes to the problem. It is pointless to change a factor that has no direct
effect on the problem. The tool that is most useful in step 3 is the cause and effect or fishbone
diagram. Furthermore, statistical experiments can be used to correlate relationships between identified
factors with the results in the form of scatter plots.
Step 4. Countermeasure. In Step 4, all possible changes are formulated, based on feasibility of the
solution and the effectiveness it will have will upon the root cause factors that eliminate or
significantly reduce the problem. Additionally, when addresses changes, we want to assess whether
each change formulated is not only corrective in nature but preventative also. Implementing
preventative changes has a greater overall effect, it prevents recurrence. The tools used during step 4

How to Write an Editorial Essay
At one time the term editorial indicated that the editorial=s message was indeed a message from the
editor. Today the editorial in professional journals also serves other functions. Many editorials are
concise critical reviews of scientific topics, particularly topics that represent recent developments. The
editorial may also be used for comment on an original paper published in the same issue. The
commentary may critically assess the paper for its scientific validity, may disagree with the
interpretation of the data reported, may put the paper=s contribution into perspective with other very
recently reported findings that could not be taken into account when the paper was written, or may

The length of an editorial, the number of paragraphs, depend on how complex a problem it considers,
the amount of evidence it examines, and the number of possible answers. Some editorials may consist
of only one paragraph and yet carry the main elements of argument in their natural sequence.
The opening paragraph states the first element of the argument: The problem or Question=. Most
readers will need more than a simple statement of the problem. Experts on the subject will know what
new events or new knowledge led to awareness that a problem needs an answer, but most editorials
are not written for a small number of experts. The question of how much background information to
include in the lead in to the statement of the problem is probably best answered as it is for the
Introduction to a research paper. The editorialist should assume that readers know less than he does
about the topic of the editorial but are well informed on the larger subject field within which the topic
lies. The author of an editorial on the usefulness of laparotomy in staging Hodgkin=s disease should
assume that the reader knows less than experts experienced with this use of laparotomy but is well
informed in general on recent developments in Hodgkin=s disease and knows the meaning of
laparotomy= and of staging=. The editorialist can then open the editorial with a brief summary of the
not entirely satisfactory of the methods for staging or with a summary of the current controversy

this semester. It was informative, interesting, and sparked left me researching unfamiliar terms as I left
the study. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this observation experience and I feel as though it is
one of the most, if not the most, beneficial hands on experiences I have had thus far. The differences
between pediatrics and geriatrics have been discussed, taught, and even viewed through video in class,
but there is nothing quite like seeing all of those differences in person. I would like to start off
mentioning that I had pre conceived idea of what my experience was going to be with a 9 month old. I
had prepared myself for crying, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were various cups set out with different labels on the side. Legally they have to put labels on
everything used by the patient that has their name, D.O.B, and that barium was used. The SLP poured
barium into the cups, which she then flavored with Kool Aid and then barium was added to
applesauce. This allowed the SLP to test various consistencies and see how the patient tolerated them.
Thin, Nectar, and Puree consistencies were observed during the study. The study requires several
disciplines to be presented in the room in order for it to be completed. There was a radiologist,
radiology technician, nurse, an SLP, and the mother of the child. This made for a tight space during
the study itself. Once the room was prepped and all required personnel was ready the SLP went to get
the family.
The steps were explained in detail to the mother and then instructions were given to her on which way
the child should be facing while being fed the samples. I was surprised to learn that the child s mother
was actually the one feeding him the test consistencies and not a trained professional. There were so
things happening in the room all at once. The SLP was trying to watch the monitor for penetration and
aspiration all while trying to help the mother keep the baby s attention. Then the radiologist says deep
penetration and two seconds later silent aspiration . The nurse wrote this information down on a sheet
which specifies exactly when, where, and what consistency was

Life-Personal Narrative
I was so excited you updated author nim. I really enjoyed the chapter. I could only assume that the
character was based off you. I know life is hard: coping with our emotions, accepting ourselves the
way we are, decision making, and life changes, are not easy things to accept and/or make. Each day is
a new beginning and along with it come new challenges/battles that we have to face and overcome.
We have to live life one day at a time and remember that the battles that we face are a part of life yeah
the battles might be hard and seem impossible to overcome but these battles only help us grow and
learn valuable life lessons that make us stronger and better individuals.
Everyday that we survive is a battle that we have won and conquered so

On April 10, 2006, Wcs And Metropolitan Entered A Standard
On April 10, 2006, WCS and Metropolitan entered a standard form agreement to complete certain
portions of the construction of a 397 unit apartment complex located in Camp Springs, Maryland. (E.
932, 947 1007). The agreement consisted of multiple contract documents including: AIA Document
A131 CMc 2003 and AGC Document 556, Standard Form Agreement Between Owner and
Construction Manager (E. 947 63); AIA Document A201 1997, General Conditions of the Contract for
Construction (E.964 1007) (the General Conditions ); and AIA Document A121 CMc 2003,
Amendment 1 (collectively, the AIA Contract ) (E. 932). The AIA Contract named Metropolitan as the

(E. 997) (§§ 11.4.3, 11.4.5, and 11.4.7 of the AIA Contract are referred to collectively as the Waivers ).
As is all too often the case, a payment dispute accompanied the conclusion of this substantial
construction project. In early 2007, Metropolitan refused to pay WCS several million dollars due for
the labor and materials furnished to the project. (E. 917). As such, WCS filed a complaint to establish
a mechanic s lien. (Id.). In consideration for WCS s release of

The CBS Morning News Plagiarism Story
After watching the video, CBS Morning News Plagiarism story, my reaction to what is considered
plagiarism was not so surprising. I already knew a lot about this from high school. My school was
huge on plagiarism and any papers, or even a 500 word essay, submitted to turnitin.com was checked.
Every teacher there had an account for his or her specific subject. If you plagiarized in school it was
my understanding, that it was cause for suspension, a zero in that class and you would have to retake it
the next year. After reading the review, it helped me a lot to understand why plagiarism is such a
crime. There are so many sources available on the internet that explain the way to cite books that are
not mine. From my experience, I have already learned to document all information that I retrieve. ...

My aunt went to Phoenix University and because she still has access to the school website, there is a
plagiarism checker that I can run on my papers to show anything that I may have missed while writing
my paper. It is important to have academic integrity because this shows that the student respects the
word of others and themselves. A student who enrolls at the university agrees to respect and
acknowledge the research and ideas of others in his or her work and to abide by those regulations. One
form of plagiarism that I am aware of is copying someone else s work and using it as if it were yours.
If someone chooses to use, the ideas of others they must submit the references at the end of the paper
or presentation. All students should take pride in their own work and come up with ideas suited to
them. I, for one, have worked too hard to risk my grades and academics. I personally believe my
academic integrity is an important part of my

To what extent are the ‘self’ and ‘identity’...
To what extent are the self and identity separate from society? The concept of self and identity has
become increasingly important in social science in recent years. There are many competing concepts
about them. The term identity can be basically understood as how we understand ourselves. It
generally entails how to category people into groups by differentiate them according to their
characteristics. This essay will focus on the correlations of self and identity, and society. It will stress
on if self and identity are separate from society with scholars support, particular on Mead and
Goffman. George Herbert Mead is widely considered as the founding father of theoretical thinking

me is the social side of self as known from external environment. I is to know through his own
subjective consciousness of self. However, only after we have the objective, social and impersonal
sense of self the Me, we can then have the subjective, personal and intimate sense of self the I
(Ransome, 2010). Thus, the self is not totally made of social aspect which receives information about
them from society. Individuals have their own consciousness arising from themselves, although it
needs to fellow after the arising of I. Another important sociologist need to mention here is Goffman.
He addressed individuals daily life as the metaphor of the drama. For Goffman, social life is a series of
dramatic performances. The actor who is performing, and the other co performers who Goffman refers
to as members of the team (Ransome, 2010). The audiences are who witness the performance.
Goffman focused on how the self is shaped by the dramatic interactions between social actors and
their audiences (Ritzer and Goodman, 2006). When an individual is interacting with others, there are
according to Goffman two impressions: the one individual gives and the one they give off (Goffman,
1990). An impression is given through speaking, and this is information that individuals want to give
(Goffman, 1990). Another impression which is given off is through non verbal communication. For
Goffman, it is used to make the participants accept a desired

Charles De Gaulle
Following World War II, it was quite clear that France was in need of political assistance. After the
French defeat, the occupation of Nazis forced the government to either ally with the enemy, or to be
destroyed from the inside out. The government, run by Pétain, decided to ally with the Nazi invaders,
which established what is known as the Vichy government. Seeing as this was the official government
of France at the time, any Frenchmen who were to speak out against the government were to be seen
as heretical, and even charged with treason, under the dictatorial Hitler regime. Luckily for the people
of France, there was such a man who decided to fight for a free France. Charles de Gaulle is the
reason that France, following a complete overthrow by a dictatorial world power, once again became
one of the most powerful and prestigious countries in the entire world. De Gaulle wanted, and pushed
for, France to become a strong empire, a rebuild of the national economy, a reconstruction of the
broken nation, and to establish a stronger executive power in the government. ... Show more content

Amongst these varying opinions, there is one strong argument that can be made by nearly all
historians: Charles de Gaulle has the legacy of being the single most polarizing individual in French
history. While there were large amounts of people who believed in him, and saw him as the savior of
the country, there were others who saw him as an attempt at a dictator. Most authors agree that the
military principals that he put forward were largely important in the outcome of the blitzkrieg of the
Germans, and that overall as a military figure he was more than exceptional. However, as a president,
political figure, and diplomat, he is not praised so

The Roles Of Women In Ancient Greece, Rome, And Egypt
s history runs its course, there are certain topics that are always addressed such as religion, politics,
and societal structure. Also brought up is the role of women. During all periods of the world, women
are given their own category due to being treated differently than the men. Comparing the women of
ancient Greece, Rome, and Egypt reveals the vast differences of people s views of women and the
disappointing similarities of being unjustly judged based on their gender. Each of these cultures puts
their women into positions that are degrade the skills of females, some more than others, and create
the societal barriers for women that last for many years after ancient times. A telling sign of how each
culture views their women is in the stories of their creation. The Romans, Egyptians, and Greeks all
had their own theories as to how humans were put on Earth. The Egyptians had three different creation
myths, all with different characteristics. The myth including Nun and Ptah do not include women, but
they also do not identify that it was men created first. These describe the creation of society, not a
society of men that was created and then women added along the way. The other creation myth from
Egypt includes the frog headed gods and snake headed goddesses such as Kek, Kauket; Heh, Hauhet.
Women were integrated into the formation of the culture which exhibits the view of women in Egypt.
They were not an afterthought. Contrasting this ideal is the creation

This led to people changing their views on enlightenment. Some, such as John Locke, thought rights were the way to go. Others, such as BDM, believed government could ensure happiness. There were even people, like Voltaire, believed a voice could solve all problems. John Locke was an English thinker from the seventeenth century who lived through the English Civil War. John Locke was against powerful government because, unlike others, he believed that people were reasonable and moral. He also believed in natural rights. Natural rights were rights given to people at birth. They differed from other rights because natural rights cannot be taken away. There are three natural rights: life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Locke also argued that people formed governments, not to impose order, but to protect everyone s natural rights. This source is a primary source as well, which is not necessarily a strength, but is interesting insight to have; a government official from the foundation of New Zealand. This source has limitations. Swainson does not discuss the side of the natives (the Maori people) in his book. This makes it hard for historians to get the full story on what happened in the colonization of New Zealand. Also, similar to Torrens s work, it only talks about New Zealand, and only mentions that Australia was another colony. This lack of detail on Australia makes the job of a historian harder because he/she has to compare more sources than they would have to in order to come to a full comparison or contrast on the two situations. Investigation For centuries, the British have been a strong global power. Their reinforced naval and army powers made them unstoppable, especially if they were taking over to colonize. Two areas where the British chose to inhabit were New Zealand and Australia, land masses in the Pacific Ocean closer to Antarctica than to the continent of Europe ( European Discovery ). The first difference between the two colonies was their discovery. It is true that they were both discovered around the same time Australia was discovered around the seventeenth century ( European Discovery ), and New Zealand was discovered when Lieutenant James Cook ... • 20. Illusions Is An Exhibition At Casa Daros Illusions is an exhibition at Casa Daros, a gallery dedicated to Latin American contemporary art. The exhibition explores the idea of illusion and art as illusion (fig. 5), with a focus on artists such as Luis Camnitzer. The Illusions website explores this theme by creating illusions of space, depth and movement in a virtual space. The website itself functions as an illusion; although objects and images fly towards the viewer in a resemblance of the three dimensional, they are still only two dimensional images in two dimensional space. In comparison to The Curious Gardener, Illusions also uses parallax scrolling to enable the objects to fly towards and away from the viewer as they scroll through the website (fig. 6). This gives the user the ability to drive and control the illusions that they are seeing, becoming an active participator in the exhibition. This use of parallax motion and depth is being used to innovatively explore objects, ornaments, artworks and furniture, not only in cultural heritage but in a variety of institutions. A cutting edge example of how parallax scrolling can be used to display objects is Sony s Be Moved (fig. 7). It is a detailed and technical website that pushes the boundaries of animation and parallax motion as cameras, laptops and other forms of technical equipment come apart and are re built as the user scrolls, showing the intricacy and craftsmanship of the objects interiors. AHRQ (2013) health expenditure data demonstrates that the southern region of the United States, which includes Texas, exceeded the average health expenditure for a hypertensive patient to a cost of $805 per hypertensive person. Two recent peer review audits of twenty charts at Southmore Medical Clinic revealed that we were practicing with only a 45% compliance rate with the Joint National Committee (JNC) 8 guideline recommendations for managing HTN. In Southmore Clinic HTN management protocol is based on JNC 6 guidelines and HTN parameters are more relaxed due to patients noncompliance and the physician s laid back attitude. • 22. Comparing The Story Of The Old Testament And The New... Utilizing the understanding of the later definition make is extremely easier to incorporate the narrative of the Old Testament and the New Testament into one chronicle event moving along the time line to teach and understand the mission of the church. It follows the events of knowing the story and where the church came from and where it is headed. Clearly the church is not complete as Jesus has not returned so the work is still on going. The story continues to be written. Christians today, just as the Jewish people did back during the times of the Old Testament, need to know the story and to do that we need to know the scriptures. The question comes down to how the Old Testament and the New Testament would be formed into one narrative to accomplish the goal of enhancing the understanding of the mission of the church. To accomplish this task, I believe Christopher Wright, in his book, summarized the task very well. If one looks at the Bible from an actual story line the flow from one Testament to the other does exactly that; it flows. The Old Testament points to the New Testament and the New Testament builds upon the Old Testament. The four major sections of the biblical story are Creation, Fall, Redemption in History, and New Creation . If people begin to think in terms of the Biblical story from Genesis through Revelation and the realization that the story is not over, it will be simpler to understand how all the time eras in the Bible relate to each other and ... We as a society value money over more important qualities such as knowledge or integrity. If you have wealth in America you are looked up too, you are respected. The epic would not be the same if each woman didn t play their significant part. Each woman plays an important role either in the mead hall, in the home or in battle. Each of these woman makes for a successful storyline that goes together flawlessly and makes for a poem that has been read for centuries and will continue to be read in years to come. The Keros sculptures were carved purely out of marble and were a form of Cycladic art that was created in a small island called Cyclades in 2600 2400 B.C. The Cycladic Islands of Greece are set in the Aegean Sea. The ancient Greeks called these islands the kyklades, a scattered kyklos, or circle, of islands around the holy island and sanctuary of Apollo, Delos. The very first Keros sculpture was founded in the year 1963 by Lord Renfrew. The only unfortunate event that occurred during excavation was that almost none of these Keros sculptures were found in their complete form. Only fragments of these sculptures remained. • 34. An Air Of Controversy Regarding Laws Promoting Personal... There is an air of controversy concerning laws promoting personal and social responsibility and individual freedom. After all, there is a dire need for social change in a society that is becoming ever more self centered and materialistic. This social change might come from laws that encourage some sort of responsibility. For example, in Texas, a future policy for social responsibility could be a ban on texting and driving. Personal responsibility policies could be limits on welfare benefits and childhood immunization requirements. While a welfare reform would ease the burden of taxpayers and bans on texting and driving and requirements of immunization would protect society from harm, these policies encourage quite a bit of debate. Basically, it is difficult to enact laws that are for the benefit of society as a whole without interfering or restricting individual freedoms, and vice versa. In the modern day and age, there are many groups who either demand to keep their rights protected, like minority groups, or emerging groups that want legislation passed to protect their rights, like the homosexual community. Of course, there is nothing wrong with these rights, after all, the basic foundation of democracy guarantees equality. However, the problem arises, as Lloyd put it, when society becomes selfish and materialistic focusing only on lack of rights and creating a moral dilemma that is slowly ruining society. Also, it is one his best speeches that he ever gave in his life and it is super popular for this era it is the most known speech the Gettysburg address. • 39. The Importance Of A Modified Barium Swallow Study At... I had the opportunity to observe a Modified Barium Swallow Study at Arkansas Children s Hospital this semester. It was informative, interesting, and sparked left me researching unfamiliar terms as I left the study. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this observation experience and I feel as though it is one of the most, if not the most, beneficial hands on experiences I have had thus far. The differences between pediatrics and geriatrics have been discussed, taught, and even viewed through video in class, but there is nothing quite like seeing all of those differences in person. I would like to start off mentioning that I had pre conceived idea of what my experience was going to be with a 9 month old. I had prepared myself for crying, ... Legally they have to put labels on everything used by the patient that has their name, D.O.B, and that barium was used. The SLP poured barium into the cups, which she then flavored with Kool Aid and then barium was added to applesauce. This allowed the SLP to test various consistencies and see how the patient tolerated them. Thin, Nectar, and Puree consistencies were observed during the study. The study requires several disciplines to be presented in the room in order for it to be completed. There was a radiologist, radiology technician, nurse, an SLP, and the mother of the child. This made for a tight space during the study itself. Once the room was prepped and all required personnel was ready the SLP went to get the family. The steps were explained in detail to the mother and then instructions were given to her on which way the child should be facing while being fed the samples. I was surprised to learn that the child s mother was actually the one feeding him the test consistencies and not a trained professional. There were so things happening in the room all at once. The SLP was trying to watch the monitor for penetration and aspiration all while trying to help the mother keep the baby s attention. Then the radiologist says deep penetration and two seconds later silent aspiration . The nurse wrote this information down on a sheet which specifies exactly when, where, and what consistency was ... I already knew a lot about this from high school. My school was huge on plagiarism and any papers, or even a 500 word essay, submitted to turnitin.com was checked. Every teacher there had an account for his or her specific subject. If you plagiarized in school it was my understanding, that it was cause for suspension, a zero in that class and you would have to retake it the next year. After reading the review, it helped me a lot to understand why plagiarism is such a crime. There are so many sources available on the internet that explain the way to cite books that are not mine. A student who enrolls at the university agrees to respect and acknowledge the research and ideas of others in his or her work and to abide by those regulations. The concept of self and identity has become increasingly important in social science in recent years. There are many competing concepts about them. The term identity can be basically understood as how we understand ourselves. It generally entails how to category people into groups by differentiate them according to their characteristics. This essay will focus on the correlations of self and identity, and society. It will stress on if self and identity are separate from society with scholars support, particular on Mead and Goffman. However, only after we have the objective, social and impersonal sense of self the Me, we can then have the subjective, personal and intimate sense of self the I (Ransome, 2010). Thus, the self is not totally made of social aspect which receives information about them from society. Individuals have their own consciousness arising from themselves, although it needs to fellow after the arising of I. Another important sociologist need to mention here is Goffman. He addressed individuals daily life as the metaphor of the drama. For Goffman, social life is a series of dramatic performances. The actor who is performing, and the other co performers who Goffman refers to as members of the team (Ransome, 2010). The audiences are who witness the performance. Goffman focused on how the self is shaped by the dramatic interactions between social actors and their audiences (Ritzer and Goodman, 2006). When an individual is interacting with others, there are according to Goffman two impressions: the one individual gives and the one they give off (Goffman, 1990). An impression is given through speaking, and this is information that individuals want to give (Goffman, 1990). Another impression which is given off is through non verbal communication. • 45. Charles De Gaulle Following World War II, it was quite clear that France was in need of political assistance. After the French defeat, the occupation of Nazis forced the government to either ally with the enemy, or to be destroyed from the inside out. The government, run by Pétain, decided to ally with the Nazi invaders, which established what is known as the Vichy government. Seeing as this was the official government of France at the time, any Frenchmen who were to speak out against the government were to be seen as heretical, and even charged with treason, under the dictatorial Hitler regime. Luckily for the people of France, there was such a man who decided to fight for a free France. Charles de Gaulle is the reason that France, following a complete overthrow by a dictatorial world power, once again became one of the most powerful and prestigious countries in the entire world. De Gaulle wanted, and pushed for, France to become a strong empire, a rebuild of the national economy, a reconstruction of the broken nation, and to establish a stronger executive power in the government. ... Most authors agree that the military principals that he put forward were largely important in the outcome of the blitzkrieg of the Germans, and that overall as a military figure he was more than exceptional. • 46. The Roles Of Women In Ancient Greece, Rome, And Egypt s history runs its course, there are certain topics that are always addressed such as religion, politics, and societal structure. Also brought up is the role of women. During all periods of the world, women are given their own category due to being treated differently than the men. Comparing the women of ancient Greece, Rome, and Egypt reveals the vast differences of people s views of women and the disappointing similarities of being unjustly judged based on their gender. Each of these cultures puts their women into positions that are degrade the skills of females, some more than others, and create the societal barriers for women that last for many years after ancient times. A telling sign of how each culture views their women is in the stories of their creation. The Romans, Egyptians, and Greeks all had their own theories as to how humans were put on Earth. The Egyptians had three different creation myths, all with different characteristics. The myth including Nun and Ptah do not include women, but they also do not identify that it was men created first. These describe the creation of society, not a society of men that was created and then women added along the way. The other creation myth from Egypt includes the frog headed gods and snake headed goddesses such as Kek, Kauket; Heh, Hauhet. Women were integrated into the formation of the culture which exhibits the view of women in Egypt. They were not an afterthought. Contrasting this ideal is the creation ...
