opportunities. On one hand, the topic is broad and multifaceted, encompassing academic, social,

Simultaneously, addressing the social dimension involves discussing the significance of
networking, forming study groups, and engaging with campus activities. The essay should
explore the benefits of a supportive social network, encouraging readers to build relationships
that foster both personal and academic growth. Navigating the social dynamics of college life
requires a nuanced approach that considers diversity, inclusion, and communication skills.
Additionally, the personal development aspect requires an exploration of self-motivation,
resilience, and adaptability. The essay should guide readers on embracing challenges as
opportunities for growth, cultivating a positive mindset, and learning from setbacks. This
personal development section should offer practical advice on stress management, goal-setting,
and maintaining mental and emotional well-being.
To successfully navigate these intricacies, the essay writer must meticulously research and
synthesize information, ensuring a balance between depth and accessibility. Integrating real-life
examples, statistics, and expert opinions can lend credibility to the essay. Effective organization

How Does Cloudstreet Affect Us
Good morning/afternoon/day class of English 12E, I m Mary Wu and I m here to
deliver a tutorial on Cloudstreet: Books and movies are illustrations of lives. They
usually last forever because they illustrates themes that transcend through time.
For example, both Tim Winton s novel Cloudstreet and Thea Sharrock s movie Me
Before You demonstrates that people need to control their lives. In particular,
Winton and Sharrock invites us to experience the consequences of lack of control,
how people struggle to balance their lives and what happens when they are in
control. Tim Winton in his book Cloudstreet delivers us a message of how loss of

control and this helps soothing her grief. Even though she fails to achieve the
equilibrium in her life, the sense of control brings her confidence in life and

Culture Is Defined As The Beliefs, Customs, And Arts
Merriam Webster states culture is defined: as the beliefs, customs, and arts, of a
particular society, group, place, or time. People think of culture as they think of a
specific person(s) or a region but with a little studying of culture they would
understand what it really is. The first thing we have to understand is that culture is
taught, or learned over time. Culture is not something you were born with or
receive from your parents. People learn the different cultures through life
experiences, family, and friends. We as humans all require food, water, sleep and
education on important cultural characteristics in order to learn different culture.
Everywhere in the world is different and people come from all different parts of the
world because culture is shared. We learn from others and how people have live
throughout the world. The next characteristic would be symbols, symbols can be
anything from money, art, and language. In parts of the world language to a
specific region is important to their culture. Culture is engraved into our brains at a
young age. A country like the United States, foreigners arrive into a new culture and
learn to adapt in many ways the same as we would have to while in another country.
The last characteristic would be dynamic, this means things change over time. People
always have changed over time and areas change as society grows and advancement
in technology arises. There is actually remote islands where there are
Federalism And The Separation Of Powers
Federalism is a way of organizing a nation so that two or more levels of
government have formal authority over the same area and people, ensuring that one
does not become too powerful and aids in the separation of powers. Liberty is a state
of freedom within a society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one
s way of life, behavior, or political views. Although these two political science terms
are different, they correlate and interact with one another in the American Government
and are still relevant to contemporary policy issues faced today. James Madison s
The Federalist No. 47 doctrine exemplifies this: In order to form correct ideas on this
important subject, it will be proper to investigate the sense in which the preservation
of liberty requires that the three great departments of power should be separate and
distinct.
Madison based the concept of federalism on the French lawyer Montesquieu s theory
of the separation of powers. This theory states: Were the executive power not to have
a right of restraining the encroachments of the legislative body, the latter would
become despotic; for as it might arrogate to itself what authority it pleased, it would
soon destroy all the other powers. Madison, along with the other Founding Fathers,
took heed to this warning and created the three branches (executive, legislative, and
judicial). Although this system does provide a distinct separation, it does not call for
absolute separation. Instead, the
Tesla Motors, An American Company
Tesla Motors Incorporated, an American company that designs, produces, and sells
electric vehicles and their electric components, has become one of the fastest
growing car companies in recent history. The company s main goal was to start
creating electric vehicles that were accessible and affordable to the public. Founded
in 2003 and taking off successfully by 2009, Tesla Motors started selling the first
mass produced vehicle to use lithium ion battery cells and hold a range of greater
than 200 miles on just one charge. Along with building their own electric vehicle
models, Tesla also builds electric powertrain components for vehicles from other
automakers including cars such as the Toyota RAV4 electric vehicle. Tesla has begun

Wong goes on to say that the Roadster doesn t have a reverse gear either, but
instead runs the motor in the opposite direction to reverse. Because of this, the
Roadster is one of the only high performance vehicles that runs as fast in reverse as
it does in drive. On top of such a unique innovation, the motor is also efficiently
used for regenerative braking. Wong mentions that drivers can charge the ESS
with just 220 V, using Tesla s incredibly fast onboard charger. A full recharge takes
3.5 hours. When it comes down to it, completely electric vehicles have been
around for a while, but they have never had as much commercial success as energy
efficient vehicles that use fossil fuels. Ethanol, hydrogen, coal, and oil are all not
as energy efficient as the lithium ion run electric vehicles are and can be. The ESS
Tesla has created has raised the bar for the efficiency of electric vehicles and
knocked down virtually all other sources for vehicle power. If we could look at
Tesla s vehicle models and other electric vehicle models stripped down, with
everything removed but the frame, wheels, and electrical propulsion system, we
would see just how far Tesla has come in their design of the electric vehicle and how
they have surpassed other car companies with their innovation. According
Catcher In The Rye Songs Analysis
The Catcher in the Rye is a very peculiar and depressing book. It is full of
symbolism and has a lot of meaning. There are many songs that could fit this book
well, but I think that there are twelve songs represent it best. These songs mostly
represent Holden, because he is the main feature of the book. Of course, these
songs all have to be the clean version since Holden freaks out about curse words.
Like the book, these songs are also full of symbolism and meaning. The first song
in the playlist is Jump Out the Window by Big Sean. The title is very relatable to
the book since James Castle jumped out of his window and several times, Holden
has thought to jump out of the window too. Now when you look at the lyrics, there
is one part that says, Remember when you used to come through and hit the Mario
Kart, And you always picked the princess . This relates to when Holden is talking
to Stradlater about Jane and how they used to play checkers back then and she
would always keep her kings in the back row. Another part of this song that relates
to Catcher in the Rye is You cried on my phone the whole night that time he crossed
the line yeah, yeah, yeah...And you told me never mind yeah, yeah, yeah. This also
relates to when Holden was thinking about Jane in chapter 11. In this scene, Holden
describes a situation when Jane s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This song speaks about a friend that the singer had that died. This relates to Catcher
in the Rye because it is like how Holden lost Allie. He still thinks about him every
day and he can t get over the fact that he s gone. Each and every day, The
daydreams of how we used to be, See your family, And that baby s lookin just like
you, Why d you go away? I ve been missin you lately. This sounds like what is
going through Holden s head whenever he thinks about Allie. He also says that
Phoebe looks a lot like him, just like it says in the song, That baby s lookin just like
Project Delivery System For The State Of Texas

of Bridging method of project delivery, it is a challenging task for the owner to make
a decision about the most suitable method of project delivery for the geographic
location of their project. As, it requires historical data about performance of similar
projects or the owners can obtain data from research conducted by scholars

Unit Cost ($/SF): Mean construction cost in US dollars required to build one square
foot of the facility. The formula to calculate the unit cost is:
Unit Cost = As Built Construction Cost / Size of the Facility in SF
The mean unit cost values of the projects ranged from approximately $100/SF to
$400/SF, and the comparison clearly depicts that using the Bridging method of
project delivery has given the lowest mean cost in comparison to other project
delivery systems. ii. Cost Growth: Cost growth is the percentage mean change in the
cost of the project as compared to the contracted cost of the project. The formula to
compare the cost growth is:
Cost Growth =(Contracted construction cost As built construction cost)Contracted

The mean cost growth in cost of construction when compared to the contracted cost
is the highest in Design bid build and is the lowest in Design build. The
approximate values of mean cost growth lies around 3% to 9%. iii. Delivery Speed
(SF/month): Average SF construction that was delivered in one month divided by 30
days.
The range of delivery speed lies approximately between 5000 to 13000 SF/month.
D B B has the lowest delivery speed and D B has the highest. iv. Schedule Growth

The Irony of the Jungle
The Irony of The Jungle
Between 1870 and 1900 Chicago grew from a population of 299,000 to almost 1.7
million, the fastest growing city ever at the time. This surge in population was largely
attributed to immigrants coming from European countries seeking a chance for
employment and new freedoms associated with moving to the United States at the
time. 1905, in particular, was a historic year when a surge of over 1 million
immigrants came to the city. During this time, author Upton Sinclair was working
undercover, investigating working conditions in the city s meatpacking district.
Sinclair s research was integrated into his novel The Jungle, a tragic story about a

Although the injury was caused by leaping out of the way from out of control

home with no means to earn money while other strong bodied men replace him,
the bank eventually forecloses on his home, only to resell to another eager family
that shared Jurgis optimism. Realizing this truth, Jurgis father Anatanas is just as
resolute to help provide for the family. He takes up a job in a pickling basement
with poor air quality and contact with poisonous chemicals, which ultimately leads
to his death. Lack of sympathy is a common theme which helps Sinclair paint the
picture of an unforgiving environment, where people come and go, processed
much like cattle. Sinclair s title is appropriate given the ways people are treated
when an accident happens. Similar tragic fates befall the rest of Jurgis extended
family that enter work in the meatpacking district. Realizing their home will be
increasingly difficult to afford when deciding to have a child with Jurgis, Ona
must work in the meatpacking district. If a strong man like Jurgis can be broken
by the working and living conditions, it is no surprise that Ona is also broken by
the system, being raped by her boss and unable to do anything about it because of
his favor with politicians and lawmen. Ona s account of her rape tells
The Magic Lantern Was Used In The Early Age Of
Animation
There were many devices that were used in the early age of animation. One of
them was the magic lantern. The magic lantern was the first device to be made in
the early age of animation. It was created in the 1600 s by Athanasius Kircher. It
projected images onto a wall. The magic lantern that Athanasius Kircher created
was a small box. A hole was cut into a side and a light source was placed inside the
box such as a candle. There was a curved mirror behind the light source, and in
front of the light source was a lens. The mirror reflects the light from the light
source and it goes through the lens and out of the hole in the box. If a glass slide
with an image was placed in front of the hole in the box, the image would reflect onto
the wall.
Meaning Of The Gettysburg Address
On november 19th, 1863, president Abraham Lincoln gave his famous speech we
know as the Gettysburg Address at the Gettysburg National Cemetery. Gettysburg,
Pennsylvania , was the site of intense fighting between Union and Confederate
soldiers during the American Civil War (UXL Encyclopedia of U.S. History p631.).
Though it was a relatively brief speech, it was full of meaning. Abraham Lincolnwas
elected president in november of 1860, making him the 16th president of the United
Statesof America. His Gettysburg Address was one of his most elegant speeches and
has gone down as one of the most referenced speeches of all time.
The battle of Gettysburg was an intense fight between the union and the confederacy,
and lasted three days. Many consider the battle as being one of the most important
battles of the American Civil War. Forty three thousand soldiers died, and the
Gettysburg National Cemetery was the final resting place for over three thousand
five hundred union soldiers. Lincoln s words were received by a tired crowd
without much enthusiasm (UXL Encyclopedia of U.S. History p631.). The speech
was well received. Lincoln s eloquent way of speaking showed his intelligence and
education. The speech is easy to understand so that anyone could be inspired by
Lincoln s words.
Lincoln s Gettysburg address tells of why the Civil War was so important. In
Lincoln s Gettysburg Address, he says Now we are engaged in a great civil war,
testing whether that nation or any nation so
The Grasshopper and the Bell Cricket
The Grasshopper and the Bell Cricket

The Grasshopper and the Bell Cricket is very philosophical, using a lot of
euphemisms and symbols suggested in its economic writing. A visual piece of
literary work The Grasshopper and The Cricket . Rich in content yet concise in
expression, Yasunari Kawabataleads us into a whole new culture in which we have
never experienced before. At first glance, it seems simple enough, until you realize
that it goes on a deeper level. The author also illustrates the love for Japanese
tradition by referring to that of making lanterns. The author s use of euphemism and
symbolism is shown at once in the opening paragraphs. The narrator saw a group of

The Attitude Of The Poem My Last Duchess By Robert
Browning
9th Grade English Essay: Discuss the attitude of the poet towards the duchess in My
Last Duchess by Robert Browning
In the middle ages , the main topic used in poems was a nobleman, usually a knight
in love with a married woman and had to prove his devotion by heroic deeds and
amorous writings . They used blazon to emphasis the beautiful bodies of the women
in those days. However, there was a radical change in the Victorian times where
prostitution became such a big issue. The poems became darker and less courtly. In
the poem, My last duchess by Robert Browning there was no traditional blazon such
as complementing the duchess body. Yet, the speaker who is also the Duke talks
about the women s body as the main justification for her assassination. The duke
talks about her smile as the reason for his jealousy and possessive obecession.
Robert Browning uses various literary devices to provoke a feeling to the reader. By
his choice of devices, we are able to understand the feelings of the Duke towards the
Duchess. The rhyme scheme of this poem is organized in rhyming couplets
(AABBCC) this is used to show the relationship between him and the duchess
(couplets) it may also be used to show is obecession with controlling everything
and having everything organized and planned. The lines are paired in rhyming
couplets, but these couplets are open which shows the Robert Browning uses
various literary devices to provoke a feeling to the reader. By his choice of devices,

Cognitive Theory And Behavioral Theory Essay
Cognitive Theory and Behavioral Theory 1. Cognitive Theory Cognitive Theory and
/or Development is a subject that is often discussed and/or debated frequently within
the psychological community. There is a significant amount of theory into how
much development happens naturally and how much is learned from outside
sources. This is constantly debated throughout study after study. The common
theory is that only a certain amount of cognition can be achieved through a child
learning by themselves and that environmental factors start to influence
development at that point forward through the process. The first five years are
very crucial to a child and many milestones are achieved. Piaget is known as one of
the early primary contributors to cognitive development theory. Piaget theorized
cognition developed in four different stages through childhood. He based his
theory off of observation analysis of subjects. The four stages that he defined were
sensorimotor stage, preoperational stage, concrete operational stage, and formal
operational stages. The sensorimotor stage occurs between 0 2 years of age and is
when imitation, memory and thought begin to be utilized. Next the preoperational
stage occurs between ages 2 7 years old and encompasses language development
and recognizing symbolic form. The third phase is the concrete operational stage
that takes place between ages 7 11 years old and represents the ability to solve hands
on problems logically. The fourth and final
The Iron Cage By Sociologist Max Weber
Have you ever felt trapped within the daily responsibilities and tasks that make up
your daily agenda or planner? Have you ever felt as an individual who s not living his
or her own life, but rather living by the standards and norms opposed and followed
by the members of our modern day society? If your answer is yes to any of the two
questions above, then you are experiencing and living what is known today as the
Iron Cage . The Iron Cage refers to a very simple, yet complex theory developed by
sociologist Max Weber. In his theory which addresses a sociological problem
regarding standards of living; Dr. Alana Bibeau further deliberated on how Weber
argues, that an individual s life is being transformed not only by the ideas of
efficiency, but shaped by the increasing means of rationality and calculability.
Though it can be argued by some that the increasing means of efficiency, rationality,
and calculability have no impact on the identity and development of a person, I
stand strong to the belief that the increasing means of these three factors, contribute
to an individual s loss of identity; at the same time these three factors also contribute
and shape an individual s life, this of course, going in accordance with what society
has been idealized with within the context of Weber s theory of the Iron Cage .
For my first experimental project, my group and I focused on how wellness centers
are Iron Caged into the belief of Women to the cardio machines , and Men to the
A Critique of Chapter 11 in Neil Postman s Technopoly
Essay
A Critique of Chapter 11 in Neil Postman s Technopoly In chapter 11 (The Loving
Resistance Fighter) of the book Technopoly, published in 1992, Neil Postman
focuses on a solution to the problems created by Technopoly. A Technopoly (a word
postman capitalizes throughout the book) is a society that no longer merely uses
technology as a support system but instead is shaped by it. Postman proposes that we
become loving resistance fighter(s) who retain the narratives and symbols that once
made the United States the hope of the world (p.182). He believes education is to
lead the resistance against technology by changing the curriculum to help restore a
sense of meaning and purpose lost to the Technopoly.... Show more content on

In chapter 11 Postman gives examples of people who resist the American
Technopoly. An example of a resistance fighter is a person who ignores a poll
unless they know the questions asked and why. As Postman introduced in chapter
8 ( Invisible Technologies ), the form of a question can produce many different
answers. It may also restrict us from seeing solutions to problems that may become
visible through a question worded differently. Postman shares the story of two
priests who write the Pope asking if it was allowable to smoke and pray at the
same time. One priest phrased the question Is it permissible to smoke while
praying? and the response was no because praying should be the focus of ones
attention; the other priest asked Is it permissible to pray while smoking? and the
response was yes, since it is always appropriate to pray. The opinion of almost any
issue is a function of the question asked. In the American Technopoly the opinion
poll is a strict yes or no answer to an unexamined question. One is therefore unable
to share their knowledge and is easily mislead to answer a question in a certain
way. Another example of a resistance fighter is a person who does not allow
psychology or any social science to pre empt the language and thought of common
sense. This example clearly relates to chapter 9 ( Scientism ), in which Postman
expresses his annoyance of the many people who have a strong
The Ethical Issues Of Abortion
Introduction
There are numerous ethical issues that can develop in labor and delivery whether
this issue influences the mother, baby, or both. In healthcare, it is an obligation for
the provider to give ideal care, treatment, and prevent harm to patients while making
ethical choices. Here and there, these choices aren t highly contrasting and providers
must outweigh benefits versus harm in order to give the best care possible for
mother and baby. One case of an ethical issues that emerges in obstetrics is late
abortion in raped victim women.
What is late term abortion related to raped victims? late term abortion which is also
known as post viability abortion is the termination of pregnancy after the 20th week
of gestation. Late term ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also argue that before twenty weeks gestations fetus observed to show
hormonal stress responses to painful stimuli and these responses were diminished
when pain medication was administered to fetus. Therefore, pro life wants to save
lives of fetus at the phase at which medical evidence shows that they can feel pain
(Cohen Sayeed, 2011).
Cons
On the other hand, the against life or pro abortion support abortion of fetus for
many reasons. There are many times when abortion may be the best and only
option for continuing live. One and most painful reason to mother is when rape
occur. Rape is an act of violence, not a natural act of intercourse and intimate
relationship between two. Rape wounds respect, freedom, physical and moral
integrity which every person has the right to. In other words, raped victim did not
choose to be pregnant for this reason she should not be forced to carry rapist s baby
against her will. Also some of the rape victims may be minors and not be mentally
or physically prepared to take care of themselves and the newborn baby after
delivering. (Ladock)
There is a need of support and good counseling for mothers and children who are the
outcome of a rape
Analysis Of Maxine Clark s The Great Gatsby
Unit 1 Essay Maxine Clark In it s planning stage, Build A Bear seemed like a
whimsical idea that wouldn t sprout into anything more than a daydream. However,
successful entrepreneur Maxine Clark thought otherwise. While adults might not
have understood the passion and love for a small stuffed bear, she knew children
did. She had felt that passion since she was a small girl, all the way back in 1949.
Small animal friends were what inspired children, what aided their social growth
throughout childhood and became their best friend. Bored of her old life, and with
the support of her loving husband Bob Fox, she withdrew nearly all of her retirement
funds and started a business. In 2008, she d be named one of the 25 most influential...

The bears essentially became dolls that could never have enough stuff. The entire
company hadn t been build overnight though. For a while, she was still stuck as
president of Payless, and had no plans on how to escape. It wasn t until a day at the
mall with her best friend s daughter Katie that an idea hit her. They had been
searching mercilessly for a cute stuffed animal to buy for her birthday, but the
stores seemed void of anything remotely interesting. The closest thing they could
find were Beanie Babies, which Katie described as simple and something she could
easily make herself. In that moment, memories came rushing back. As a child, her
mother, Anne, had been a travelling Secretary to First Lady Elaine Roosevelt.
Having to live life without her mother consistently around, she found comfort in
her little friend bear. She took it everywhere. To the park, to school, and to the
mall. That was, until she lost it. Her mother searched up and down for it, and
eventually for a new one. They spend many tiring hours at stores all over town, but
never did find it, or a good replacement. She had been heartbroken. With no
siblings, she had to live her life in dreadful solitude. There had never been a store
to save her as a kid, but there could be one now, to save other kids. They left the
mall that day, Katie with a small stuffed cat, and Clark, with an idea. It took 9 months

The Environmental Issue Of The Wildfires
What is the single most environmental issue that is plaguing the eastern half of the
world? The raging fires in Indonesia and Asia. These fires are releasing more CO2
and other toxic chemicals in a few months than most countries do all year. The fires
are also producing a thick smoky haze that is clouding the entire area. What is the
exact cause of this problem? Scientists are quick to point out several causes, but one
that is standing out is the defiant act of setting ablaze fields for the use of farmland.
The Indonesian government has taken a stand against the fire, but has done
nothing to actually stop the farmers from destroying the land. The actual problem
is that the farmers are burning their land to make way for their crops. The farmers
not only set the fires in the first place, but also chop down trees to make land open
for crops. This deforestation adds to the problem because they just let the trees lay
and the wood tries and is perfect kindling for the fires. This logging for the way of

John Stuart Mill, And The Deontological Theory Of Ethics
Frequently brought up in modern conversations between everyday people and
behavioral researchers alike, issues regarding morality and ethics have become
increasingly prevalent. With the current global political climate drawing attention to
and/or raising awareness for various humanitarian crises, such as the massive
destruction in Puerto Rico that has left the entire island in ruin or refugee Rohingya
people fleeing persecution in Myanmar and Bangladesh, it is imperative to
understand the logistics of possible relief efforts through a philosophical lens. Two
well developed theories that offer solutions to such problems are Utilitarianism,
proposed by John Stuart Mill, and the Deontological Theory of Ethics, advocated for
by Immanuel... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although originally postulated by Jeremy Bentham, this theory that advocates for the
greatest good {sunnum bonum}flourished under the formulation of John Stuart
Mill. A commonly simplified principle, the greatest total net good is similar to that
of a mathematical formula {taking all of the effects of an action, applying them to
everyone affected, and finally subtracting the totality of bad effects from that of
the relatively good ones}. Assuming that true happiness is a state of pleasure that
is lacking any elements of pain, Mill introduces the concept of Higher and Lower
Pleasures in order to differentiate between stimulating intellectual sentiments and
mere physical sensations. (Mill, 6) To this end, one would assume that as a
hedonist, {one that perceives a good or successful life to consist of the pursuit and
experience of pleasure} Mill s position on both Rescue I and II would be that that
saves the most people, regardless of the circumstances. However, the situations
proposed contrast each other in that they lead back to Foot s initial concern about
the difference between killing and letting die. Rescue I allows for a somewhat
lowered sense of obligation {responsibility if you will}, as it requires the
hypothetical rescuers to go off their initial path to save the group of five individuals
at risk of drowning to save only one person from another unfortunate
Inclusion In The Inclusive Classroom
Inclusion has been a term stated several times in the past few years in the school
system. However, do you really know what this word means and what inclusion looks
like in a classroom? According to the book, The Inclusive Classroom, The term
inclusion has been used to describe the education of students with disabilities in
general educationsettings (Mastropieri, pg. 6). This term simply means it is the child
s right to participate and the school s responsibility to accept the child in the general
education classroom. Furthermore, mainstreaming differs from inclusionbecause
mainstreaming is something students earn by demonstrating their skills were
sufficient. A critical difference of inclusion is the view of the general classroom as
the primary placement for the student with disabilities, with other special services
regarded as ancillary (page 7). Inclusion plainly means integrating students with
disabilities into a setting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It should go beyond that in the classroom and it is the teacher s goal to further the
meaning in the classroom. Inclusion is not simply about physical proximity, it is
about intentionally planning for the success of all students. The following quote
elaborates past the context of inclusion. When including students in the classroom the
teacher needs to consider the individual first. Full inclusion is seeing the whole child
in all aspects of life. It involves taking the genuine time to have conversations with
the students still professionally but on a personal level that is caring. Additionally, it
is taking the effort to reach the diversity of students in the classroom and making
everyone feel welcomed when coming to school. Full inclusion allows the students to
create personal relationships with everyone and to be treated equally. They have the
opportunity to be in the classroom setting all day with the assistance of special
education teachers coming to the room if

Animal Jealousy In Animals
There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that animals become jealous too, just like humans.
Going beyond tales exchanged by pet owners, scientists are now studying and
identifying emotions in animals.
Live Science noted that research is beginning to suggest that jealousy in a primordial
emotion that people and some animals share. But for the jealousy to be felt, the person
or the animal must have the cognitive ability to recognize the importance of a
relationship and to assess potential threats to that relationship which is a tall order for
some animals.
Inborn emotion
According to studies, infants as young as six months old showed jealousy when their
mothers interacted with another baby which was actually a realistic looking doll.
The situation suggested that jealousy is an inborn emotion that is not learned and it
had evolved to protect any type of social relationship from interlopers. It may also
exist in other social animals.
Animal experts now believe that dogs, for instance, become jealous when their
owners give too much attention to a rival animal. Dogs were more likely to snap
and push their owners if the pet felt it was being excluded for the affection, according
to University of California researchers.
Professor Christine Harris, the lead researcher, said that the study suggested it is not
only dogs that engage in what seems to be jealous behaviors. The pets also seek to
break up the connection between the owner and its perceived rival.
She noted that many
Marketing Mix Of Ryanair
Ryanair is an Irish based airline company, headquartered in Dublin airport, Ireland. It
was established in 1985, and since Ryanair has expanded from a small airline to
serving 90.6 million passengers. It operates 1,800 flights a day connecting 200
destinations. (Ryanair Annual Report, 2015; (Ryanair)).
Michael O Leary, Ryanair s charismatic boss and one of the most successful
business man in the world. Starting from a single plane company, in about 30 years
he has made Ryanair the largest airline in Europe. With turnover of €5 billion and

They do not employ an advertising agency. Instead all of the advertising is done by
themselves. In fact O Leary himself oversees much of the promotion of Ryanair.
They use simple adverts that tell passengers that Ryanair has low fares.
Some of their aircraft are decorated in the attire of advertisers e.g. News of the

not subcontract advertising facilities. Ryanair uses a very common form of
advertisements, mostly black and white print ad in a newspaper, with the focal
message of lowest fare . Even the company s logo is very simple and straight forward
which reads Ryanair; the low fares airline in blue and white. However customer
attention is captured through stimulating images or unpleasant comparison to other

Devil Vs Anselm
In Anselm s On the Fall of the Devil he says, [The devil] should not have known
that he would be punished if he sinned (93). Which means that God was right in not
telling the devil that there would be consequences for his actions. Anselm defends
this claim by discussing the devil s free will, the intent behind the devil s actions if
the devil knew about the punishments these actions would bring and the impact that
it has had on angels after this. I disagree with Anselm because I believe that fully
knowing the costs and benefits of the choices you make is essential to the decision
making process. Furthermore, I believe that there was no way of Anselm to know the
intent behind the devil s actions, so it would not be appropriate for Anselm to... Show

of what could be advantageous to him, and he does not and cannot know for certain
the intent behind the devils actions for an event that never occurred. Anselm takes
for granted that a piece of information would beneficial in some cases but not
others, which is problematic. Finally, knowing the consequences of a decision does
not mean that your decision will be based off those consequences and even if it is
influenced by those consequences there is no way of knowing of you genuinely

Abstract Night has its sorcery quality which many humans missed especially on
moonless nights. In comparison to many animals which do their gallivanting in the
dark, humans cannot see in the dark because their eyes lack tapetum lucidum. This is
a layer of tissues in the eyes which improves vision in low light conditions but is
present in the eyes of most animals. Fortuitously human ingenuity popped up with
night vision optics that made night vision possible. Night vision technology, by

Examples Of Self-Justification In Criminal Justice
The criminal justice system is one of America s most inadvertently accepted
institutions throughout its history. However, the centuries old system is now deeply
plagued with self justification, and it is a bigger problem than people may think.
Formulating analytical analogies on self justification. Examining the effect of self
justification that occurs both in the interrogator and the interrogated, and showing
scientific research that pinpoints the use of self justification and cognitive dissonance
in criminal justiceand other institutions; All points show the injustices happening in
the justice system. Analogies of tone, purpose and point of view are all prevalent in
self justification. Whenever somebody slides down the pyramid of choice... Show

Saul Kassin, a professor of psychology at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice
in New York, conducted an experiment relating to self justification within
interrogators. In the experiment, Kassin paired individuals who were either guilty
or innocent of theft with interrogators who were told as well if a person was
innocent or guilty of theft. The combination of a person thinking they are innocent
and the interrogator thinking they guilty, resulted in the most amount of tension
between both parties. Kassin s experiment is a classic example of how self
justification can take over a person s mind. Once a person takes one step down the
pyramid of choice, it is harder for them to see the other side, this is exactly what
happened in the experiment. Keise Izuma, another professor of psychology,
conducted a similar experiment outside of the criminal justice system. Izuma had 52
participants choose their favorite wallpaper out of 2 selections. Izuma would then
have an homes interior expert enter the experiment room and either tell the
participants they made a good decision choosing the wallpaper, or if they had made
a horrible decision. The expert either praised or scolded the participant for ten
minutes. 8/10 of the participants that were scolded switched which wallpaper
Discuss The Causes Of Colonial Rebellion
Thomas Paine (1776), in a time of struggle, reminded Americans that Britain, with
an army to enforce her tyranny, has declared that she has a right (not only to TAX)
but to BIND us in ALL CASES WHATSOEVER, and if being bound in that
manner, is not slavery, then is there no such a thing as slavery upon earth (p. 1). It
is evident that, even in times of struggle, Americans possessed a trait of rebellion
against those in power (especially the British) and common beliefs. Many colonies
were formed on the basis of refuge from British beliefs and the domineering
government. This in addition to the values that America was based upon lead to a
very rebellious revolution. After reviewing the events spanning the time of the early
colonies to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They rebelled from the British to due different ideals, unfair treatment, and the need
to be heard. Historians can see this passion in the Battle of Trenton and the Battle of
Princeton. Washington s troops had suffered a hard winter at Valley Forge but
fought on nevertheless. On Christmas night, Washington and some 2,400 men
crossed the icy Delaware river to fight at Trenton (Carnes Garraty, 2012, p.122). The
defiant spirit of the soldiers helped them get through the night and they beat the
Hessian soldiers who were some of the best soldiers in the world (Carnes Garraty,
2012, p.122). At this point in time, the colonists had rebelled against the British is
every way possible as historians see the raging war for the freedom of the colonies.
After the colonists won the battle at Trenton, they continued to demolish those at
Princeton which, in many ways, gave motivation to the continuance of the war
(Carnes Garraty, 2012, p.122). The rebellious trait can be seen in most all American
colonists involved in the war and up until the

Freshwater Fishing Vs. Fresh Water Fishing
Salt water fishing vs fresh water fishing Remember when you were a little kid
waking up at 5 in the morning just to go fishing. You re just hoping that today will
be the day to catch the big one. You re out there just waiting for something to hit your
line. No matter whether salt water fishing or fresh water fishing, it will meet every
fisherman s or woman s dreams. It doesn t matter if you re out on the lake or on the
ocean, you are always guaranteed to have a good time and make memories. When
fishing either salt water or fresh water you think about what kind of fish you are
trying to catch. One of the most commanded fish fresh water fish people think of is
catfish. They can range from 1 pound up to 60 pounds depending on how old they
are. Catfish spend most of their time swimming on the bottom of lakes or rivers
and they will usually eat everything. Catfish are usually dark in color, so dark that
they look brown. If you re more into the sport side of fishing, the first kind of fresh
water fish you think about is a large or small mouth bass. They usually like to
chase their prey down, but they don t wonder to far from their home. These fish lie
around the bank waiting for a chance to eat. Bass color markings usually consist of
bright and light green. The weight range of bass can be between a one half pound
to ten pounds. An example of salt water fish is Mahi Mahi. They are very bright in
colors; they vary from dark blue, to light yellow, to spots of green. A

An investigation of the glucose concentration of the cell sap in potato cells
In this experiment I intend to investigate the effects of osmosis on potato cells.
Specifically, I intend to use my knowledge of osmosis to investigate the glucose
concentration of the cell sap in potato cells.
Osmosis is a method by which water levels on either side of a semi permeable
membrane may balance themselves. It occurs between regions of high water
concentration and low water concentration. As it is a special method of diffusion
exclusive to water, it also allows dilute and concentrated solutions to balance their
strengths. It does this by preventing large non water particles from passing through
the semi permeable membrane due to their size, in order ... Show more content on

This is made possible by the support lent to it by the slightly elastic cellulose cell
wall. It will support a turgid cell enough to prevent it from bursting (see left). It is
turgid cells such as this that provide a plant with its support. Animal cells on the
other hand, do not have supporting cell walls, just cell membranes. As plants are
always surrounded by water, it is vital for them to have cell walls, but animal cells,
surrounded by blood (low water concentration), do not need as much support. As a
result, if an animal cell were placed in pure water, it would eventually burst. This is
because the membrane alone is not enough to support a turgid cell. For this reason I
will use plant cells in my experiment. Method
The aim of this experiment is to work out the water concentration of cell sap in potato
cells. Using my knowledge of osmosis, I intend to construct an experiment to
determine this. I know that water can pass both in and out of potato cells in order to
equate water concentration in the cell sap with water concentration in the
surrounding solution.
Surely then, if water concentration levels both inside and outside of a potato cell are
already equal, osmosis is no longer necessary, and as it is passive but has no
incentive to occur without osmotic potential, it will not. On the other hand, when
placed in a solution of unequal water concentration a potato cell will lose or gain
water and weight as a
Thesis on Marketing Unhealthy Food for Children
There is presently much controversy regarding the idea of unhealthy foods and how
companies shamelessly market these products to children. Individuals in the food and
beverage industry constantly promote the belief that they are actively involved in
providing society with important information concerning what is healthy and what is
not. Moreover, most promote their products as having no negative effects on
individuals who consume them, as doing otherwise would surely reflect badly on
their businesses. It is generally known that children are vulnerable because they have
very little experience in filtering information and foodcompanies take advantage of
this by introducing diverse methods to promote their products even with the fact that
it is likely for children to get sick as a consequence.
Many influential bodies in the food industry openly exploit children by presenting
them with alluring commercials in an attempt to get them to develop interest in
certain products. Advertising directed to children, particularly on television, is
heavily populated by commercials for foods that pose adiposity and related health
risks for children when consumed in abundance (Committee on Food Marketing and
the Diets of Children and Youth 2 301). Taking this into account, it would appear
that the social order is practically being forced to stand by and watch as children are
used as a tool to sell products.
While it is surely troubling to acknowledge that children are being used as a

Incident response occurs during the incident, however, disaster recover occurs
after the incident has taken place (Whitman Mattord, 2012). Adequately preparing
for disasters would help in fast recovery. For example, fire is a catastrophic
disaster, so backups should be at off site location to minimize the damage caused to
clients, employees, stakeholders and investors. Disaster recovery plan must be
developed and implemented with top down support across all departments in an
organization. Every department in an organization must contribute to the disaster

the company wide business process. IT department is in the unique position of

Creon As A Tragic Hero In Antigone By Sophocles
The play, Antigone, written by Sophocles shows the different downfalls of
characters. One of these characters is Creon. Creon does not realize that his pride
and stubbornness has interfered his ability to deal with problems and rule of Thebes
properly. By analyzing Creon, one could see that he is considered a tragic heroin this
play. The characteristics a person must have to be a tragic hero is he has a hamartia, or
tragic flaw. More often than not that tragic flaw is excessive pride, or a hubris. The
character then goes through a peripeteia, which is a twist where the character
realizes that things will not turn out the way he expected. Finally, the character
has an anagnorisis, which is their epiphany that makes them realize their hamartia
(Cap, Creon as a Tragic Character in Antigone ). The tragic hero characteristics in
Creon are clearly shown when he speaks with blind prophet, Teiresias. The
character interaction between Creon and Teiresias helps develop Creon as a tragic
hero in Antigone. Being the leader of Thebes, Creon wants order and loyalty to the
city. After the death of Eteocles and Polyneices, Creon makes it known that anyone
who acts against the city is an enemy. Creon decides that Polyneices would not
receive a burial because he sees him as a traitor. Not burying the dead is uncommon
for many since it went against religious beliefs. Antigone saw the wrong that was
being done, as did other citizens. Creon says that for quite a while some people in the
The Conflict in Darfur and United States Involvement
The conflict in Darfur refers to the fighting that is happening in the western region
of Sudan known as Darfur. These fights have been taking place since 2003 and
have continued to today. Similarities can be made to the Rwandan Genocide; there
is a government funded and armed militia that is not officially supported by the
government that is killing a local population. The citizens of the region of Darfur
that are being killed are not Arabic, like the majority of the rest of Sudan is,
however, they are more similar in culture and other aspects to the citizens of South
Sudan, Sudan s neighboring country to the south with which Sudan has had multiple
wars with. Despite the fact that there is a militia that is killing citizens, there are
also other militias that are fighting for the Darfuri people. These two sides have
been fighting each other for close to ten years. Even though citizens of a certain
group are being targeted by a militia, the conflict in Darfur is not a genocide. The
United States should not get involved militarily in this conflict because it is only a
conflict and not a genocide. It is a war between two groups over disputes between
these groups. Instead, the United States should use diplomacy to help end the conflict
happening in Darfur.
A genocide is the systematic attempt to eliminate a group of people based on race,
religion, ethnicity, or other defining group characteristic. This should not be
misconstrued with a war between two groups where each group is
Music And The Heart Summary
In the article Music and the heart, authors Stefan Koelsch and Lutz Jäncke go over
a series of studies to show the effects of music on the heart. They start off talking
about how music is a powerful stimulus for inflicting moods and emotions and also
has an impact on heart activity. They go on to talk about how the results of studies on
the effect of musicon the heart and emotions have often been inconsistent. Mainly, the
inconsistencies are due to the use of different methods and musical stimuli. Music
has a large variety of genres and styles and many of the studies do not include the
specific types of music used in their studies. With different types of music being used

authors talked about wanting more pressing for high quality systematic research on

The Supply Chain Is All Parts Of The Company That
Fulfill...
The supply chain is all parts of the company that fulfill a customer s order. This can
include direct or indirect contact with the customer. Suppliers, manufacturers,
distributors, and retailers make up some of the parts of a supply chain that are
needed to fill a customer s order. One of the major parts of the supply chain is the
transportation of the raw material or the finished product. Transportation can be done
many ways, which include truck, pipeline, air, water, package carriers, rail, and
intermodal. Air transportation can have its advantages and its disadvantages.
Transporting products by air has advantages such as the speed of travel. Air is the
fastest way to transportproducts across the world in a reasonable amount of time.
Another advantage of transporting products by air is the fact that they can go as
the crow flies , which means they can make direct paths to the nearest airport. This
makes for a speedy travel across the world. As RC Argawal Transportation says It
has no physical barriers as in the case of other mode of transport (RC Argawal
Transportation). There are several disadvantages that companies will incur when
they ship their products by air. Just like any other shipping mode planes can be hi

The Case of Malcolm Farley
The case of Malcolm Fairley is a unique case in which paint analysis and the use of
forensic science made investigators succeed in apprehending a criminal they were
after for a long time. The role of paint analysis in this case was enormous and to date
it is one of the cases people refer to when discussing the relationship between forensic
science and crime(Smith, 2005).
In 1984, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire residents suffered sleepless nights with
fear and terror in their homes. Armed burglaries, rape as well as indecent and
uncouth sexual assaults became the order of the day. The residents barred their
windows, the police intensified their security surveillance on both land and air,
vigilante groups came up but still the culprit otherwise named the fox was scot free
and continued with his criminal acts. Fox continued to unleash his terror in many
towns despite his profiling by the police. He went into other towns like Tring,
Cheddington, Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes (Malcolm, n.d.).
In April 1984, in Linslade, Leighton Buzzard, a 74 year old woman became the
first victim of the Fox. This woman went to bed at around 9PM and after reading
for an hour she put out the light and just before falling asleep she was woken by
shuffling sounds in her bedroom. When she opened her eyes, she saw a man
standing in her bedroom with gloves in his hands. This man pulled her bed covers
off and started assaulting her indecently. The woman was able to resist the advances

How The Three Elements Of The Fraud Triangle Were
Present...
1.Like fuel, air and heat come together to make fire, like the likelihood of fraud
increases when the three elements of the fraud triangle come together. Analyze how
the three elements of the fraud triangle are important and how all three elements were
present in Helen s case.
The three elements of the fraud triangle are Motivation or Pressure, Opportunity and
Rationalization. After reading the case, it was revealed that all of the three elements
are present the Helen s fraudulent activities.
Motivation: This is a reason for why the fraudsters commit frauds. It provides the
basis for the individual to commit the unethical act. It is found that most times
greed relates to the fraud motives. The perception of a need or pressure is a key
factor which caused the fraudsters to commit a fraud. In Helen s case, it was found
that Helen had family problems. Her husband was a substance abuser; her children
were suffering from health and behavioral issues. Helen had also unpaid medical bill.
These are the factors that motivated Helen to commit a fraud. Although, Juan was
aware about Helen s problems and that she needed extra money, but he did not take
any control measures to prevent Helen s motivation to commit a crime.
Opportunity: It is one of the elements of the fraud triangle. It may be defined as an
environment of favorable condition that allows the fraud to be committed (Tessier,
n.d.). In the Helen s case, it was found that she had this opportunity which helped her

The Importance Of Education During Adolescence
Throughout, history, there has been a common belief that teenagers get more
distracted or embarrassed more easily. In addition, they seem more self centered,
and are more likely to react negatively to stress. These susceptibilities are viewed
down upon by adults because teenagers are expected to have all of the skills ready
for adulthood, and these expectations are made from the misbelief that the brainhas
already gone through the majority of its development before adolescence. If it is
widely understood that the brain is actually at its most vulnerable stage, people can
shift education and development to also encompass the teenage years. This may help
the millions of children that currently do not have the resources for education during
adolescence.
One of the brain regions that changes most dramatically during adolescence is the
prefrontal cortex, says Sarah Jayne Blakemore, a cognitive neuroscientist. It is
proportionally much larger in humans than any other animal. According to
Blakemore, the prefrontal cortex plays an important role socially, such as stopping
inappropriate actions, controlling important decisions, and self awareness. If you
observe the total gray matter volume of the prefrontal cortex over time, you see that
the total gray matter volume peaks at adolescence and then decreases due to a
process called synaptic pruning. Synaptic pruning is a process where the brain
literally prunes away synapses the brain is not actively using, so that the brain
Critical Analysis Of Leonard Bernstein s The Age Of Anxiety
The opening night of the Atlanta symphony orchestra had high expectations for the
music we were about to experience. The night commenced with a work of art by
Leonard Bernstein The Age of Anxiety, conducted by music director Robert Spano. A
meaningful piece written original to describe a lengthy heartfelt poem that took place
during World War II. The transition between courses was a unique jazzy upbeat style
of the Star Spangled Banner whereas to begin the night it was a traditional legato
style. The audience awaited to feel the recent material from composer Michael Kurth.
Expecting to witness nothing less than sensory images from what inspired Michael
Kurth to write such a delicate piece. As the night continued the large audience grew
greater admiration for the conductors and the orchestraitself. The musician s
capability to perform lengthy pieces of musicwas also a part of the astonishing
experience. To conclude a night of emotion the concerts final performance was a
piece by George Gershwin, An American in Paris A piece heavily influenced by
modern time music that expresses freeway. The concert had an overall reconstruction
of American identity theme integrated within each selected piece.
Bernstein and Kurth were two of the talented and gifted composers of the night.
Bernstein piece The Age of Anxiety adhered closely to a symphonic form of music
demonstrating a tonal center. The placement of the piano was remarkable, it was
placed in the center front of the

Satanism Vs. Religion
When someone hears Satanism they usually start to think of sacrificial ceremonies,
demonic worship, and the summoning of demons. Some even go as far as to think
that Satanism is associated with kidnapping, child sacrifice, and other inhumane
rituals. Satanism was created to go against other religions and was made to stand out,
but is not violent and is misrepresented. The truth is that the Church of Satan has,
falsely, taken the blame for these unspeakable acts. As the official website for the
Satanic Church put it, Satanism is a life loving, rational philosophy that millions of
people adhere to. (Church of Satan Archives) Satanism is more atheistic than
religious. In fact it has actually been called the theatrical nonreligion. (Peter H.
Gilmore) On April 30, 1966, Magus Anton Szandor LaVey created the Church of
Satan. The Late High Priest, LaVey, created the Church of Satan to have something

The official website for the Church of Satan said, In recent years, we ve wasted far
too much time explaining that Satanism has nothing to do with kidnapping, drug
abuse, child molestation, animal or child sacrifice, or any number of other acts that
idiots, hysterics or opportunists would like to credit us with. (Church of Satan
Archives) Satanism has been used by people as a reason to do criminal activities.
Just like how terrorists have used Islam to justify their acts. Also, similar to how the
terrorists have been the loudest and only ones heard for Islam, criminals have been
the loudest for Satanism. This has lead to the misrepresentation of Satanism and
explains why people are often given the wrong impression of Satanists. In conclusion,
Satanism is nearly an atheistic religion, Satanism has no god(s) and doesn t require
worshipping Satan, and has been misrepresented in society. Satanism is really a
logical religion focused on enjoying
14th Century Changes
The 14th century was a time in the Middle Ages where a lot of things were
changing. The plague caused a huge population deficit and climate played a major
role in this as well. At this time, the government was poorly organized which led to
dirty cities that could further the spread of the plague. Many people had
malnutrition, which consequently furthered the spread of diseases, killing even
more people and affecting the economy. With such a large number of people dead,
the cost of labor increased and women were needed to work as there were not
enough men for certain jobs to function. I am aware that other events during this
time could have caused changes as well, but the most prominent and devastating
were that of diseases and climate. When you put all of these factors into perspective,
you can see that the climate and diseases in the 14th century played a major role in
the social, political, and economic changes that occurred. The spread of the plague
and the change in climate throughout Europe introduced many problems and changes
socially. With all of the insanity going on, the divisions of European society began to
diminish. There had originally been the clergy who were the ones who prayed, the
nobility who were the ones who fought, and the laborers... Show more content on

Peasants began to revolt due to governmental taxes that were making it hard to live
and wage restrictions were also making an impact. This began to lead to revolts in
cities throughout Europe, France, and England. In England, the direct cause of these
revolts was due to a tax put on every adult member of the population that the peasants
refused to pay. These revolts caused castles to be burnt down, nobles to be murdered,
and consequently led to many arrests on peasants. There were some good things
happening for peasants though, with manorialism weakening and peasants being
freed from their
Alexandr Solzhenitsyn s One Day In The Life Of Ivan...
Alexandr Solzhenitsyn s 1962 prison story novel One Day in The Life of Ivan
Denisovich, the author openly and candidly distributes the accounts of Stalinist
oppression through the eyes of a prisoner who has been sentenced to a camp in the
Soviet gulag system. Solzhenitsyn does this through a complex style of narration
visa vie first person point of view and third person limited omniscient narrator. The
title character, also known as Shukhov, construes through his Christian views, the
universal and perpetual question of freedom and enlightening its true character as
the moral duty of forbearance and self discipline rather than individual accord.
Throughout the story the relevance of faith is marked by the prisoners when they
cross themselves before eating or how Shukhov would refer to his bunkmate as
Alyosha the Baptist because being imprisoned is something he has earned and has
time to reflect on God and Jesus. He amazingly, manages to hide a small copy of the
Bible in his barracks. The mere existence of survival under inhumane conditions and
the importance of keeping one s dignity in an environment that only wants to
suppress is an endeavor for Shukhov. Not surprisingly, the author portrays his
characters as individuals who, in the core of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This system of psychologic torture that the bitter cold holds on him does not deter
Shukhov to think to escape prison life. During the storms the snow was as fine as
dust but the drifts were as firm as ice. Prisoners had escaped over them when they
topped the barbed wire. True, they hadn t got far (p. 42). On the contrary, the
prisoners loved snow and wished for it, because snow storm meant no work and that
is something they prayed for every day. Whenever the wind rose a little, every face
was turned up to the sky. Let the stuff come! The more the merrier (p.

Their motivation is pure financial gain.
A data breach, one of the threat exists allows the information and data to go out from
the banking system, making it viewable to others. Some of the examples of potential
hazards and which remain the main motives of the electronic banking system are
during on line transactions, transferring funds, and minting electric currency, etc.
In a recent report published at the end of last year, it was found that Trojans had been
used to target more than 1,400 financial institutions in 2014, with the top US banks
being the main target.
The main reason these attackers pop is for the violation of system security is all
about the money, challenges to intercept data, challenges with acquaintance, data
breach, and poor authentication and authorization. These Hackers have an infinite
amount of time to craft a new attack while blacklist based security solutions only
have a split second to react. If the attack is a zero day exploit, it will bypass
definition based security, such as WAFs. The integrity of the system can also be
affected, when these irresponsible people alter and changing the data information in
the system, for example exchange a sum of money to their own account.
It is important to realize how the security aspects in a banking system can influence

They usually last forever because they illustrates themes that transcend through time. For example, both Tim Winton s novel Cloudstreet and Thea Sharrock s movie Me Before You demonstrates that people need to control their lives. In particular, Winton and Sharrock invites us to experience the consequences of lack of control, how people struggle to balance their lives and what happens when they are in control. Tim Winton in his book Cloudstreet delivers us a message of how loss of control damage people. Even though she fails to achieve the equilibrium in her life, the sense of control brings her confidence in life and effectively soothes her pain. Not only Oriel uses control as antidote easing her pain, Rose does this as well. She tries to relieve her pain by ruling things inside the house after her miscarriage: All day she sat inside making and remaking the bed, arranging the cups in the kitchenette so their handles point exactly the same way. • 5. Culture Is Defined As The Beliefs, Customs, And Arts Merriam Webster states culture is defined: as the beliefs, customs, and arts, of a particular society, group, place, or time. People think of culture as they think of a specific person(s) or a region but with a little studying of culture they would understand what it really is. The first thing we have to understand is that culture is taught, or learned over time. Culture is not something you were born with or receive from your parents. People learn the different cultures through life experiences, family, and friends. We as humans all require food, water, sleep and education on important cultural characteristics in order to learn different culture. Everywhere in the world is different and people come from all different parts of the world because culture is shared. We learn from others and how people have live throughout the world. The next characteristic would be symbols, symbols can be anything from money, art, and language. In parts of the world language to a specific region is important to their culture. Culture is engraved into our brains at a young age. A country like the United States, foreigners arrive into a new culture and learn to adapt in many ways the same as we would have to while in another country. The last characteristic would be dynamic, this means things change over time. People always have changed over time and areas change as society grows and advancement in technology arises. There is actually remote islands where there are
  • 6. Federalism And The Separation Of Powers Federalism is a way of organizing a nation so that two or more levels of government have formal authority over the same area and people, ensuring that one does not become too powerful and aids in the separation of powers. Liberty is a state of freedom within a society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one s way of life, behavior, or political views. Although these two political science terms are different, they correlate and interact with one another in the American Government and are still relevant to contemporary policy issues faced today. James Madison s The Federalist No. 47 doctrine exemplifies this: In order to form correct ideas on this important subject, it will be proper to investigate the sense in which the preservation of liberty requires that the three great departments of power should be separate and distinct. Madison based the concept of federalism on the French lawyer Montesquieu s theory of the separation of powers. This theory states: Were the executive power not to have a right of restraining the encroachments of the legislative body, the latter would become despotic; for as it might arrogate to itself what authority it pleased, it would soon destroy all the other powers. Madison, along with the other Founding Fathers, took heed to this warning and created the three branches (executive, legislative, and judicial). Although this system does provide a distinct separation, it does not call for absolute separation. Instead, the
  • 7. Tesla Motors, An American Company Tesla Motors Incorporated, an American company that designs, produces, and sells electric vehicles and their electric components, has become one of the fastest growing car companies in recent history. The company s main goal was to start creating electric vehicles that were accessible and affordable to the public. Founded in 2003 and taking off successfully by 2009, Tesla Motors started selling the first mass produced vehicle to use lithium ion battery cells and hold a range of greater than 200 miles on just one charge. Along with building their own electric vehicle models, Tesla also builds electric powertrain components for vehicles from other automakers including cars such as the Toyota RAV4 electric vehicle. Tesla has begun to maximize... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Wong goes on to say that the Roadster doesn t have a reverse gear either, but instead runs the motor in the opposite direction to reverse. Because of this, the Roadster is one of the only high performance vehicles that runs as fast in reverse as it does in drive. On top of such a unique innovation, the motor is also efficiently used for regenerative braking. Wong mentions that drivers can charge the ESS with just 220 V, using Tesla s incredibly fast onboard charger. A full recharge takes 3.5 hours. When it comes down to it, completely electric vehicles have been around for a while, but they have never had as much commercial success as energy efficient vehicles that use fossil fuels. Ethanol, hydrogen, coal, and oil are all not as energy efficient as the lithium ion run electric vehicles are and can be. The ESS Tesla has created has raised the bar for the efficiency of electric vehicles and knocked down virtually all other sources for vehicle power. If we could look at Tesla s vehicle models and other electric vehicle models stripped down, with everything removed but the frame, wheels, and electrical propulsion system, we would see just how far Tesla has come in their design of the electric vehicle and how they have surpassed other car companies with their innovation. According
  • 8. Catcher In The Rye Songs Analysis The Catcher in the Rye is a very peculiar and depressing book. It is full of symbolism and has a lot of meaning. There are many songs that could fit this book well, but I think that there are twelve songs represent it best. These songs mostly represent Holden, because he is the main feature of the book. Of course, these songs all have to be the clean version since Holden freaks out about curse words. Like the book, these songs are also full of symbolism and meaning. The first song in the playlist is Jump Out the Window by Big Sean. The title is very relatable to the book since James Castle jumped out of his window and several times, Holden has thought to jump out of the window too. Now when you look at the lyrics, there is one part that says, Remember when you used to come through and hit the Mario Kart, And you always picked the princess . This relates to when Holden is talking to Stradlater about Jane and how they used to play checkers back then and she would always keep her kings in the back row. Another part of this song that relates to Catcher in the Rye is You cried on my phone the whole night that time he crossed the line yeah, yeah, yeah...And you told me never mind yeah, yeah, yeah. This also relates to when Holden was thinking about Jane in chapter 11. In this scene, Holden describes a situation when Jane s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 10. The Irony of the Jungle The Irony of The Jungle Between 1870 and 1900 Chicago grew from a population of 299,000 to almost 1.7 million, the fastest growing city ever at the time. This surge in population was largely attributed to immigrants coming from European countries seeking a chance for employment and new freedoms associated with moving to the United States at the time. 1905, in particular, was a historic year when a surge of over 1 million immigrants came to the city. During this time, author Upton Sinclair was working undercover, investigating working conditions in the city s meatpacking district. Sinclair s research was integrated into his novel The Jungle, a tragic story about a group of immigrants from Lithuania led by Jurgis, the main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Forced to rest at home with no means to earn money while other strong bodied men replace him, the bank eventually forecloses on his home, only to resell to another eager family that shared Jurgis optimism. Realizing this truth, Jurgis father Anatanas is just as resolute to help provide for the family. He takes up a job in a pickling basement with poor air quality and contact with poisonous chemicals, which ultimately leads to his death. Lack of sympathy is a common theme which helps Sinclair paint the picture of an unforgiving environment, where people come and go, processed much like cattle. Sinclair s title is appropriate given the ways people are treated when an accident happens. Similar tragic fates befall the rest of Jurgis extended family that enter work in the meatpacking district. Realizing their home will be increasingly difficult to afford when deciding to have a child with Jurgis, Ona must work in the meatpacking district. If a strong man like Jurgis can be broken by the working and living conditions, it is no surprise that Ona is also broken by the system, being raped by her boss and unable to do anything about it because of his favor with politicians and lawmen. Ona s account of her rape tells
  • 11. The Magic Lantern Was Used In The Early Age Of Animation There were many devices that were used in the early age of animation. One of them was the magic lantern. The magic lantern was the first device to be made in the early age of animation. It was created in the 1600 s by Athanasius Kircher. It projected images onto a wall. The magic lantern that Athanasius Kircher created was a small box. A hole was cut into a side and a light source was placed inside the box such as a candle. There was a curved mirror behind the light source, and in front of the light source was a lens. The mirror reflects the light from the light source and it goes through the lens and out of the hole in the box. If a glass slide with an image was placed in front of the hole in the box, the image would reflect onto the wall.
  • 12. Meaning Of The Gettysburg Address On november 19th, 1863, president Abraham Lincoln gave his famous speech we know as the Gettysburg Address at the Gettysburg National Cemetery. Gettysburg, Pennsylvania , was the site of intense fighting between Union and Confederate soldiers during the American Civil War (UXL Encyclopedia of U.S. History p631.). Though it was a relatively brief speech, it was full of meaning. Abraham Lincolnwas elected president in november of 1860, making him the 16th president of the United Statesof America. His Gettysburg Address was one of his most elegant speeches and has gone down as one of the most referenced speeches of all time. The battle of Gettysburg was an intense fight between the union and the confederacy, and lasted three days. Many consider the battle as being one of the most important battles of the American Civil War. Forty three thousand soldiers died, and the Gettysburg National Cemetery was the final resting place for over three thousand five hundred union soldiers. Lincoln s words were received by a tired crowd without much enthusiasm (UXL Encyclopedia of U.S. History p631.). The speech was well received. Lincoln s eloquent way of speaking showed his intelligence and education. The speech is easy to understand so that anyone could be inspired by Lincoln s words. Lincoln s Gettysburg address tells of why the Civil War was so important. In Lincoln s Gettysburg Address, he says Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation or any nation so

The Attitude Of The Poem My Last Duchess By Robert Browning 9th Grade English Essay: Discuss the attitude of the poet towards the duchess in My Last Duchess by Robert Browning In the middle ages , the main topic used in poems was a nobleman, usually a knight in love with a married woman and had to prove his devotion by heroic deeds and amorous writings . They used blazon to emphasis the beautiful bodies of the women in those days. However, there was a radical change in the Victorian times where prostitution became such a big issue. The poems became darker and less courtly. In the poem, My last duchess by Robert Browning there was no traditional blazon such as complementing the duchess body. Yet, the speaker who is also the Duke talks about the women s body as the main justification for her assassination. The duke talks about her smile as the reason for his jealousy and possessive obecession. Robert Browning uses various literary devices to provoke a feeling to the reader. By his choice of devices, we are able to understand the feelings of the Duke towards the Duchess. The rhyme scheme of this poem is organized in rhyming couplets (AABBCC) this is used to show the relationship between him and the duchess (couplets) it may also be used to show is obecession with controlling everything and having everything organized and planned. The lines are paired in rhyming couplets, but these couplets are open which shows the Robert Browning uses various literary devices to provoke a feeling to the reader. • 15. Cognitive Theory And Behavioral Theory Essay Cognitive Theory and Behavioral Theory 1. Cognitive Theory Cognitive Theory and /or Development is a subject that is often discussed and/or debated frequently within the psychological community. There is a significant amount of theory into how much development happens naturally and how much is learned from outside sources. This is constantly debated throughout study after study. The common theory is that only a certain amount of cognition can be achieved through a child learning by themselves and that environmental factors start to influence development at that point forward through the process. The first five years are very crucial to a child and many milestones are achieved. Piaget is known as one of the early primary contributors to cognitive development theory. Piaget theorized cognition developed in four different stages through childhood. He based his theory off of observation analysis of subjects. The four stages that he defined were sensorimotor stage, preoperational stage, concrete operational stage, and formal operational stages. The sensorimotor stage occurs between 0 2 years of age and is when imitation, memory and thought begin to be utilized. Next the preoperational stage occurs between ages 2 7 years old and encompasses language development and recognizing symbolic form. The third phase is the concrete operational stage that takes place between ages 7 11 years old and represents the ability to solve hands on problems logically. The fourth and final

Have you ever felt as an individual who s not living his or her own life, but rather living by the standards and norms opposed and followed by the members of our modern day society? If your answer is yes to any of the two questions above, then you are experiencing and living what is known today as the Iron Cage . The Iron Cage refers to a very simple, yet complex theory developed by sociologist Max Weber. In his theory which addresses a sociological problem regarding standards of living; Dr. Alana Bibeau further deliberated on how Weber argues, that an individual s life is being transformed not only by the ideas of efficiency, but shaped by the increasing means of rationality and calculability. Though it can be argued by some that the increasing means of efficiency, rationality, and calculability have no impact on the identity and development of a person, I stand strong to the belief that the increasing means of these three factors, contribute to an individual s loss of identity; at the same time these three factors also contribute and shape an individual s life, this of course, going in accordance with what society has been idealized with within the context of Weber s theory of the Iron Cage . For my first experimental project, my group and I focused on how wellness centers are Iron Caged into the belief of Women to the cardio machines , and Men to the

A Critique of Chapter 11 in Neil Postman s Technopoly Essay A Critique of Chapter 11 in Neil Postman s Technopoly In chapter 11 (The Loving Resistance Fighter) of the book Technopoly, published in 1992, Neil Postman focuses on a solution to the problems created by Technopoly. A Technopoly (a word postman capitalizes throughout the book) is a society that no longer merely uses technology as a support system but instead is shaped by it. Postman proposes that we become loving resistance fighter(s) who retain the narratives and symbols that once made the United States the hope of the world (p.182). He believes education is to lead the resistance against technology by changing the curriculum to help restore a sense of meaning and purpose lost to the Technopoly.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In chapter 11 Postman gives examples of people who resist the American Technopoly. An example of a resistance fighter is a person who ignores a poll unless they know the questions asked and why. As Postman introduced in chapter 8 ( Invisible Technologies ), the form of a question can produce many different answers. It may also restrict us from seeing solutions to problems that may become visible through a question worded differently. Postman shares the story of two priests who write the Pope asking if it was allowable to smoke and pray at the same time. One priest phrased the question Is it permissible to smoke while praying? and the response was no because praying should be the focus of ones attention; the other priest asked Is it permissible to pray while smoking? and the response was yes, since it is always appropriate to pray. The opinion of almost any issue is a function of the question asked. In the American Technopoly the opinion poll is a strict yes or no answer to an unexamined question. One is therefore unable to share their knowledge and is easily mislead to answer a question in a certain way. Another example of a resistance fighter is a person who does not allow psychology or any social science to pre empt the language and thought of common sense. This example clearly relates to chapter 9 ( Scientism ), in which Postman expresses his annoyance of the many people who have a strong

In healthcare, it is an obligation for the provider to give ideal care, treatment, and prevent harm to patients while making ethical choices. However, successful entrepreneur Maxine Clark thought otherwise. While adults might not have understood the passion and love for a small stuffed bear, she knew children did. They had been searching mercilessly for a cute stuffed animal to buy for her birthday, but the stores seemed void of anything remotely interesting. The closest thing they could find were Beanie Babies, which Katie described as simple and something she could easily make herself. In that moment, memories came rushing back. As a child, her mother, Anne, had been a travelling Secretary to First Lady Elaine Roosevelt. Having to live life without her mother consistently around, she found comfort in her little friend bear. She took it everywhere. To the park, to school, and to the mall. That was, until she lost it. Her mother searched up and down for it, and eventually for a new one. They spend many tiring hours at stores all over town, but never did find it, or a good replacement. She had been heartbroken. With no siblings, she had to live her life in dreadful solitude. There had never been a store to save her as a kid, but there could be one now, to save other kids. They left the mall that day, Katie with a small stuffed cat, and Clark, with an idea. These fires are releasing more CO2 and other toxic chemicals in a few months than most countries do all year. The fires are also producing a thick smoky haze that is clouding the entire area. What is the exact cause of this problem? Scientists are quick to point out several causes, but one that is standing out is the defiant act of setting ablaze fields for the use of farmland. The Indonesian government has taken a stand against the fire, but has done nothing to actually stop the farmers from destroying the land. The actual problem is that the farmers are burning their land to make way for their crops. The farmers not only set the fires in the first place, but also chop down trees to make land open for crops. This deforestation adds to the problem because they just let the trees lay and the wood tries and is perfect kindling for the fires. This logging for the way of plantations is one cause that is leading the way. The government has no real reason to stop the farmers because they are bringing in the money for the country. This use of fire is a ?cheap and often illegal way of clearing land.? (http://forests.lic.wisc.edu/ric /wrr37/fires.htm) This shows the blahtent disregard for nature and the entire community. Assuming that true happiness is a state of pleasure that is lacking any elements of pain, Mill introduces the concept of Higher and Lower Pleasures in order to differentiate between stimulating intellectual sentiments and mere physical sensations. (Mill, 6) To this end, one would assume that as a hedonist, {one that perceives a good or successful life to consist of the pursuit and experience of pleasure} Mill s position on both Rescue I and II would be that that saves the most people, regardless of the circumstances. However, the situations proposed contrast each other in that they lead back to Foot s initial concern about the difference between killing and letting die. Rescue I allows for a somewhat lowered sense of obligation {responsibility if you will}, as it requires the hypothetical rescuers to go off their initial path to save the group of five individuals at risk of drowning to save only one person from another unfortunate

Going beyond tales exchanged by pet owners, scientists are now studying and identifying emotions in animals. Live Science noted that research is beginning to suggest that jealousy in a primordial emotion that people and some animals share. But for the jealousy to be felt, the person or the animal must have the cognitive ability to recognize the importance of a relationship and to assess potential threats to that relationship which is a tall order for some animals. Inborn emotion According to studies, infants as young as six months old showed jealousy when their mothers interacted with another baby which was actually a realistic looking doll. The situation suggested that jealousy is an inborn emotion that is not learned and it had evolved to protect any type of social relationship from interlopers. It may also exist in other social animals. Animal experts now believe that dogs, for instance, become jealous when their owners give too much attention to a rival animal. Dogs were more likely to snap and push their owners if the pet felt it was being excluded for the affection, according to University of California researchers. Professor Christine Harris, the lead researcher, said that the study suggested it is not only dogs that engage in what seems to be jealous behaviors. The pets also seek to break up the connection between the owner and its perceived rival. She noted that many

It is turgid cells such as this that provide a plant with its support. Animal cells on the other hand, do not have supporting cell walls, just cell membranes. As plants are always surrounded by water, it is vital for them to have cell walls, but animal cells, surrounded by blood (low water concentration), do not need as much support. As a result, if an animal cell were placed in pure water, it would eventually burst. This is because the membrane alone is not enough to support a turgid cell. For this reason I will use plant cells in my experiment. Method The aim of this experiment is to work out the water concentration of cell sap in potato cells. Using my knowledge of osmosis, I intend to construct an experiment to determine this. I know that water can pass both in and out of potato cells in order to equate water concentration in the cell sap with water concentration in the surrounding solution. Surely then, if water concentration levels both inside and outside of a potato cell are already equal, osmosis is no longer necessary, and as it is passive but has no incentive to occur without osmotic potential, it will not. On the other hand, when placed in a solution of unequal water concentration a potato cell will lose or gain water and weight as a

Individuals in the food and beverage industry constantly promote the belief that they are actively involved in providing society with important information concerning what is healthy and what is not. Moreover, most promote their products as having no negative effects on individuals who consume them, as doing otherwise would surely reflect badly on their businesses. It is generally known that children are vulnerable because they have very little experience in filtering information and foodcompanies take advantage of this by introducing diverse methods to promote their products even with the fact that it is likely for children to get sick as a consequence. Many influential bodies in the food industry openly exploit children by presenting them with alluring commercials in an attempt to get them to develop interest in certain products. Advertising directed to children, particularly on television, is heavily populated by commercials for foods that pose adiposity and related health risks for children when consumed in abundance (Committee on Food Marketing and the Diets of Children and Youth 2 301). • 36. Creon As A Tragic Hero In Antigone By Sophocles The play, Antigone, written by Sophocles shows the different downfalls of characters. One of these characters is Creon. Creon does not realize that his pride and stubbornness has interfered his ability to deal with problems and rule of Thebes properly. By analyzing Creon, one could see that he is considered a tragic heroin this play. The characteristics a person must have to be a tragic hero is he has a hamartia, or tragic flaw. More often than not that tragic flaw is excessive pride, or a hubris. The character then goes through a peripeteia, which is a twist where the character realizes that things will not turn out the way he expected. Finally, the character has an anagnorisis, which is their epiphany that makes them realize their hamartia (Cap, Creon as a Tragic Character in Antigone ). The tragic hero characteristics in Creon are clearly shown when he speaks with blind prophet, Teiresias. The character interaction between Creon and Teiresias helps develop Creon as a tragic hero in Antigone. Being the leader of Thebes, Creon wants order and loyalty to the city. After the death of Eteocles and Polyneices, Creon makes it known that anyone who acts against the city is an enemy. Creon decides that Polyneices would not receive a burial because he sees him as a traitor. Not burying the dead is uncommon for many since it went against religious beliefs. Antigone saw the wrong that was being done, as did other citizens. Creon says that for quite a while some people in the
  • 37. The Conflict in Darfur and United States Involvement The conflict in Darfur refers to the fighting that is happening in the western region of Sudan known as Darfur. These fights have been taking place since 2003 and have continued to today. Similarities can be made to the Rwandan Genocide; there is a government funded and armed militia that is not officially supported by the government that is killing a local population. The citizens of the region of Darfur that are being killed are not Arabic, like the majority of the rest of Sudan is, however, they are more similar in culture and other aspects to the citizens of South Sudan, Sudan s neighboring country to the south with which Sudan has had multiple wars with. Despite the fact that there is a militia that is killing citizens, there are also other militias that are fighting for the Darfuri people. These two sides have been fighting each other for close to ten years. Even though citizens of a certain group are being targeted by a militia, the conflict in Darfur is not a genocide. The United States should not get involved militarily in this conflict because it is only a conflict and not a genocide. It is a war between two groups over disputes between these groups. Instead, the United States should use diplomacy to help end the conflict happening in Darfur. A genocide is the systematic attempt to eliminate a group of people based on race, religion, ethnicity, or other defining group characteristic. This should not be misconstrued with a war between two groups where each group is

This can include direct or indirect contact with the customer. In addition, they seem more self centered, and are more likely to react negatively to stress. These susceptibilities are viewed down upon by adults because teenagers are expected to have all of the skills ready for adulthood, and these expectations are made from the misbelief that the brainhas already gone through the majority of its development before adolescence. If it is widely understood that the brain is actually at its most vulnerable stage, people can shift education and development to also encompass the teenage years. This may help the millions of children that currently do not have the resources for education during adolescence. One of the brain regions that changes most dramatically during adolescence is the prefrontal cortex, says Sarah Jayne Blakemore, a cognitive neuroscientist. It is proportionally much larger in humans than any other animal. According to Blakemore, the prefrontal cortex plays an important role socially, such as stopping inappropriate actions, controlling important decisions, and self awareness. If you observe the total gray matter volume of the prefrontal cortex over time, you see that the total gray matter volume peaks at adolescence and then decreases due to a process called synaptic pruning. Synaptic pruning is a process where the brain literally prunes away synapses the brain is not actively using, so that the brain

The plague caused a huge population deficit and climate played a major role in this as well. At this time, the government was poorly organized which led to dirty cities that could further the spread of the plague. Many people had malnutrition, which consequently furthered the spread of diseases, killing even more people and affecting the economy. With such a large number of people dead, the cost of labor increased and women were needed to work as there were not enough men for certain jobs to function. I am aware that other events during this time could have caused changes as well, but the most prominent and devastating were that of diseases and climate. When you put all of these factors into perspective, you can see that the climate and diseases in the 14th century played a major role in the social, political, and economic changes that occurred. The spread of the plague and the change in climate throughout Europe introduced many problems and changes socially.
