Golden Apples Research Paper
the golden apples as a part of the twelve labors. When the dragon died, the goddess, Hera, made a
picture in the sky around the North Pole to honor him. Unlike the Greeks, Romans believed Draco was
part of the Giant Titans who fought against the Olympians. During a battle with the goddess of
wisdom, Minerva, he was thrust into the sky by the North Pole. No matter which myth you believe,
both gave us the fierce constellation we have today.
Another constellation is Orion, which is also known as The Hunter in Latin. It is one of the easiest
constellations to find in the sky because many people spot Orion s belt in the sky. To find the belt, you
have to look for three bright stars in a line and to the left of the belt you can find Orion s hunting dogs,
Canis Minor and Canis Major. Also, you can look for the left side of the hunter s shoulder, Bellatrix
and the right side of his shoulder which is Betelgeuse; these will help you locate where Orion is, since
these stars are part of Orion. Another tip for finding Orion is looking for its seven brightest stars,
which is sort of in a form of an hourglass and is located on the celestial equator. Orion is the most
visible in the western sky and during the wintertime, so if you want to find orion look near the equator
and for the three bright ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is known as The Hunter because it is associated with greek mythology and it was also associated
with fifth dynasty pharaohs. The three stars that make up Orion s Belt is called Alnilam, Mintaka, and

is the second brightest star and rigel is the first. Although, Bellatrix Orion s left shoulder does not fall
much behind by being the third brightest star in Orion. It was used as a central importance to many of
the ancient cultures because they would align structures with the Orion s stars, like they did

Causes And Consequences Of Mosquitoes
Mosquitoes are significant groups of arthropods that inhabit aquatic habitats. They are probably
adverse arthropods, which transmits wide range of pathogens that cause drastic deadly diseases such
as human malaria, dengue, filariasis, viral encephalitis (Leopoldo 2008). Zika virus, another
mosquitoe borne infection was first reported in Brazil by Pan American Health Organization in 2015.
After the identification, the Zika virus has spread tremendously all around America. The illness begins
with mild symptoms lasting up to a week after being bitten by vector mosquito. However, an infection
during pregnancy may cause certain neurological anomalies like microcephaly and several other brain
defects (Plourde Bloch 2016).Thus control of mosquitoes becomes the need of the hour to prevent
wide epidemic infections. However, it is difficult to control and prevent severe consequences created
by mosquito species (Aneesh 2009).
Currently a total of 3549 recognized mosquito species belonging to subfamily Culicinae are reported
all over the world (Harbach 2016). Out of this more than hundred species of mosquitoes are capable of
disease transmission to humans and other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Bartleby The Scrivener Response Essay
In nearly all situations of life, we find ourselves faced with the familiar face of a blank wall: Ominous,
judging, begrudging walls. Some tend to be symbolic; others tend to be quite literal, both cases
leaving us puzzled at how to get around such an obstruction. In Herman Melville s short story
Bartleby, The Scrivener, the title character faces quite a similar dilemma. All throughout the story,
Bartleby faces an assortment of walls, most notably a blackened brick wall right outside his office
window. This wall becomes a preoccupation for him, leaving him in what one can only call a dead
wall reverie (Melville 17). By the end of the story the walls go from an enclosure to, quite literally, a
tomb for the distraught writer. Over the years, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are a common theme in Bartleby , from the walls themselves being given a grim description This
view might have been considered rather tame, than otherwise, deficient in what the landscape painters
call life (Melville 2). To Bartleby s own implicit demise. Whether it be a result of being pushed away
from human contact, rejecting the concept of socialization, or an inability to relay what must be said to
others, Bartleby s situation lead to his descent into hopelessness and death. Such points are addressed
in Steven Ryan s interpretation, in which he states: ...one could easily understand the...logic that would
see within Bartleby s dead wall reverie as...a recognition of the cosmic void (death,
isolation...limitations) (Ryan 42). For hours upon hours, Bartleby stands and stares aimlessly at the
wall outside his window and at the walls of the prison. He refuses to work, as he also refuses to work.
In the end, we alongside Bartleby realize there is no true escape for him except prison or his own
inevitable death. By rejecting all basic necessities of life, Bartleby seems to come to his own
acceptance of the latter, but is prepared to face the former with the same motives; and that he does.
The office walls and prison walls are essentially the same to him, as he knows that both will do the
same thing to keep him contained. In the same manner, the walls of approaching

Catholicism Is The Faith, Function, And Practices Of The...
Catholicism is the faith, function, and practices of the Catholic Church. The faith of the Catholicism is
the belief in God, its function is to influence the world about God, and the practices involved are to
serve in God s name and to worship God. The word catholic means universal , implying that everyone
in the world could follow the Catholic belief. Reinforcing the fact that the word catholic means
universal , many elements involved, such as one s experiences, the way the Church evolved, and
sacraments, help build the backbone to the subject of Catholicism. The experiences of people
contribute to the subject of Catholicism because it expresses that God could change the mindset and
function of everyday life, suggesting that any experience could bring people closer to God. Prior to
being a Catholic social activist, Dorothy Day lived a rather underground lifestyle and ironically had an
abortion. However, after experiencing depression, protests, failed relationships, and even suicide, she
decided to convert to Catholicism. As a result of her conversion and motivated by faith, she founded
the Catholic Worker to devote her life to the poor. Even though she helped ease the struggles of the
poor and needy, she ended up facing a lot of hardships during her lifetime as the founder of the
Catholic Worker because of her efforts, such as being jailed, suspected as a communist, and even
threatened to die. Secondly, Denis Hayes, the writer of A Ray of Hope: The Transition to a

Historical Context Women s history in the United States has always been represented as a struggle for
rights. Wealth and status were tied to either their fathers or husbands. In the early 1900s, women were
afforded the traditional roles of society. The majority of women worked in the home. If they were of
the 18% young or poor women, they also worked in factories as laborers, manufacturing items for the
booming industrial revolution (U.S. Department of Labor, 1980). During this time period the
workplace was not in compliance with current safety standards. There was no minimum wage yet,
work conditions were horrible and they worked long hours, In 1900, the average workweek in
manufacturing was 53 hours, (Fisk, 2003). Women took pink ... Show more content on

However, she felt their approach was limited. [Her] political theory was founded on a single premise:
electoral survival determines political behavior. (Graham, 1983. Pg. 666) She did not believe state
amendment was the answer; it was a waste of time. Because of this ideology she separated from
NAWSA in 1914. Making this movement public was essential in ratification of the Constitution. Paul
organized women on all levels. She knew that selling the movement to the American people would
further the cause. Her first attempt was to campaign against all Democratic candidates. That did not do
much to the political party. She had to reformulate a plan. She organized a group of women to picket
the White House daily, except for Sundays, with banners of the President s own speeches written on
them. Papers often carried the stories of the suffragettes struggles. When World War I was declared,
that changed. Paul had many aligned supporters up until this point. In fact, many other organizations
understood the plight for equality. Picketing about democracy during a time of war was considered
treason by some and many just thought it was distasteful. Even NAWSA condemned the action.
(Graham, 1983) Paul s strategy of using Wilson s own quotes, reading his speeches to the passing
public, and then burning them, was starting to anger citizens. Despite the hostility against the NWP,
they made the papers. Many newspapers were

Morality In The Lion King
The Lion King: Simba s Journey Towards Sanity and Morality
Walt Disney s The Lion King opens with a magnificent introduction to the forthcoming King of the
Pride Lands, providing the audience with an impression of the intriguing journey that is on the verge
of unfolding. As the story progresses, it becomes evident that Simba is in the midst of a quest. Such
evidence is portrayed in the film through his possession of heroic qualities, such as courage, love, and
perseverance. In addition, the process of undergoing trials, receiving aid, fighting enemies, and
succeeding at attaining the treasure sought, contributes towards sanity and morality within him (Myth
of a Quest: an Archetype). Therefore, in the film The Lion King, Simba s journey would be considered
a quest for sanity and morality since throughout the film the main character deals with a darker evil
side, comes to terms with some kind of personal integration and reaches a self understanding.
In the beginning of the narrative, a portrayal of various characters and their relationships with Simba
demonstrates their contribution towards Simba s ability to comprehend the existence of a darker, evil
side. First, the jealousy emanated by the antagonist, Scar, towards the position that Mufasa upholds in
the kingdom, provides an insight to the evil Simba faces. Consequently, as a young child, Simba
understands the difference between good and evil through the juxtaposition manifested in the
behaviour of both his father and

Beach Volleyball vs. Indoor Volleyball

Illustration/Compare Contrast
Indoor and Beach Volleyball have gained immense popularity over the years. They re both very fun
sports that anyone at any age can enjoy. Although most people would think both sports are the same,
the truth is they are very different. The environment, rules of play and the collegiate opportunities that
many players have are a few of the main components that separate these sports. Indoor volleyball was
invented in Holyoke Massachusetts by William G. Morgan on February 9, 1895. Originally, the sport
was known as Mintonette until it was changed a year later to volleyball which it is still known as
today. The present name ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Write Your English Class Analysis
You re sitting in your English classroom, it,s cold outside and it is the day before valentine s day. Your
teacher walks slowly to the front of the room and speaks in a half somber voice, Do you want the good
news or the bad news? Some kids raise their voices and shout to good news but majority were worried
and, asked for the bad news first. Bad news; we are writing an essay for the next week. The entire
class groans, and you cast your eyes downward, as a little bit more homework is added onto your pile.
Then the teacher speaks from the front of the classroom again. Now for the good news; it is a group
project. You will get to work with your group to write the essay together. You sigh in relief because
you know that your work is going to be much, much better for several reasons.
Imagine yourself writing an essay and then imagine yourself writing it with the input of three other
people. More people in the group leads to a chain reaction of ideas, which results in a more diverse
field of details. When you have better details, your supporting paragraphs have a more persuasive
effect on the reader. Also, more interesting content makes the reader not dread reading your final draft.
That is definitely a bonus for both of you.

Lion Beavers Vs Golden Retrievers
Personalities: the combination of characteristics or qualities that form an individual s distinctive
character. Personalities vary within each individual, some people can be categorized into more than
one personality type. There are many different personalities that an individual can be distinguished as.
One way to be categorized is using the meaning behind certain animals. These animals have drastic
differences and allows individuals to find their personalities beneath them. The animals that are used
to distinguish within personalities are lions, otters, beavers, and golden retrievers.
In the survey online called Five Minute Personality Test it shows that if an individual has a lion
personality that means that they are a leader. The lion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this book Nettle talks about how traits cannot be observed directly, but it is possible to figure out
which person has certain traits by observing their personalities. Nettle s direct statement is, you can
never observe a trait directly. Instead, you infer a person s level of the trait through their behaviour. No
one will be nervous all the time, but some people might be nervous more often and over a wider range
of circumstances than others. This propensity to nervousness, to qualify as a trait, would have to be
fairly consistent over time (Nettle 19 20). That direct quote shows how each personality comes with
the same traits, just some personalities have stronger traits than others. Different personalities have

What Does It Mean To Be Sorry
Growing up in a traditional Chinese family, I used to say I am sorry a lot. Sometimes I meant to
apologize, but most likely I wanted to avoid conflicts, even if I did nothing wrong. I never thought
about refusing to say the three words, until going to Wisconsin as an exchange student for a month.
How can you still have a Chinese book in your backpack since you are in America, and why don t you
feel sorry for stealing educational resources from our local kids? I cannot believe either that I am not
quoting a Donald Trump s tweet now; the question is in fact what the uncle of my host family in
Wisconsin threw at me. I was offended, but I could not make a rational and convincing argument,
since my English was not fluent enough. I felt helpless. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One time I was on a bus to Beverly Hill, and I was talking to a friend on phone in Chinese. Two
teenage girls at the back of the bus were imitating my pronunciation and laughing so hard, and I heard
them addressing me as chink. I was trying to wrap my head around, because I did not understand why
I was laughed at when I was just casually talking to a friend. I was mad at the girls, but then I started
to think it was because they did not interact with people from other countries much. If they grew up
hearing different languages, and making friends with people who have different habits, they would not
find me weird. Therefore, I decided to code switch to Mandarin in public places as much as I need to
show that it is not intruding to carve out a space for my culture, and it is not on my end to shut up, but
on the locals end to be respectful. I stay in common rooms and quads, to switch to Mandarin to talk to
Chinese friends on phone or in person. I pick up phone calls from my chinese parents and talk to them
in Mandarin while my boyfriend who speaks English and Hebrew is sitting next to me. I greet my
Chinese classmates in Mandarin before classes start. I switch from English to Mandarin not because I

The Primary Mechanisms for Sex Determination Across the...
Manolakou et al. suggest that there are three primary mechanisms for sex determination across the
animal kingdom. The first is environmental factors. Fish and Reptiles do not have chromosomes that
determine the sex of the offspring. The temperature is the primary determinant. Some organisms sex
will be determined by specific environmental factors like temperature during the right developmental
stages of the embryo. This is referred to as the thermosensitive period (TSP). The second mechanism
is when a specific gene is responsible for a cascade effect that will ultimately determine the sex of the
offspring. This mechanism is seen in some invertebrates like insects, and amphibians. The single
regulating gene has not yet been determined. The third mechanism is the occurrence of individual sex
chromosomes like what we see in mammals. In mammals the males are heterozygous and the females
are homozygous, but in birds the opposite is true, but birds still have distinct sex chromosomes. Some
organisms have distinct sex determining chromosomes, but they have yet to be discovered. How or
why certain organisms develop into certain gender is not necessarily known, but the idea that there
could be some sort of governing pattern could lend itself useful to comparative biology and
reproductive endocrinology. Haplodiploid genetic system is a very curious mechanism in insects. The
insects can be either uniparental or biparental, meaning one parent or two. The females can

Masculinity In Moonlight
Music plays in the background as a blue vintage car pulls into a driveway. The car stops, and so does
the music. The driver, a middle aged black man tosses a pack of cigarettes on the dashboard and steps
out of the car. This is the opening scene of Moonlight, written by Barry Jenkins and Tarrell Alvin
McCraney. Moonlight follows Chiron, an African American boy throughout three periods of his life,
portrayed by three different acts: Little, Chiron and Black. It is a film that influenced my perspective
on African American social life on multiple levels, specifically the presence of hyper masculinity, the
view on sexuality and the drugs in struggling communities. Moonlight is one of the few glimpses I ve
had of primarily black communities, and certainly the first glimpse of a gay African American boy
growing up in a black community I have seen in any form of mainstream media.
Prior to watching this movie, I didn t know much about many aspects of African American social life
in regards to sexuality, drugs and hyper masculinity. I thought that it was more or less similar to the
views on sexuality and hyper masculinity I have witnessed in my own life. The mainstream views on
masculinity and sexuality (specifically in boys) I have witnessed are primarily that being masculine is
a positive trait for boys, and that if one is not at least slightly masculine, they are either gay or joking.
In regards to the presence of drugs in struggling black communities, I only know of what I hear

Osteichtyes
EXCRETORY SYSTEM
OF OSTEICHTYES
The main organ in the excretory system of all Osteichthyes is the kidney. They are complex, and
within them is the nephrons. The nephrons form in segments much like an Earthworm. The corpuscle
is part of the nephron that filters blood, and the tubule send back water and solutes (nutrients) into the
blood. The bad and useless componets of the blood are sent to the ureter which is where urine is
removed from the body. Solid wastes are processed through the digestive tract, and removed from the
body out of the anus.
In fishes, some excretion also takes place in the digestive tract, skin, and especially the gills (where
ammonia is given off). Compared with land vertebrates, fishes have a special problem ... Show more

In Fugo chrysops, the distinction between the kidney and the head kidney is not clear. A pair of ureters
leave the posterior end, and they join in front of the small urinary bladder. Corpuscles of Stannus lie
on the dorsal side of the junction of ureters. In typical fresh water fishes, the heterotopic thyoid
follicles are often found in the kidney or the head kidney. In general, the active and fast swimming
fishes have numerous and better developed glomeruli than sluggish fish have. Beyenbach and
Baustian (1989), Beyenbach and Dantzler (1990), Baustian and Beyenbach (1993), Beyenbach (1995)
and Beyenbach and Lui (1996) have provided a wealth information on the comparative physiology of
the proximal tubule. As the first major tubule along the length of the nephron, the proximal tubule is
invariably present in all vertebrate kidney. It performs most renal functions in glomerular kidneys, and
virtually all transport functions in aglomerular kidneys. Aglomerular kidneys secretes magnesium and
sulphate ions, an obvious adaptation to marine conditions. Nevertheless, some aglomerular fish can
now tolerate dilute brackish water or even fresh water. Osteichthyes release their nitrogen as
ammonia. Blood waste are filtered by kidney. And some waste is diffused by the gills. Salt water
osteichthyes are constantly secreting water through their skin. They tend to drink a lot of water

Limitations of the Canadian Prime Minister Essay
Canada s parliamentary system is designed to preclude the formation of absolute power. Critics and
followers of Canadian politics argue that the Prime Minister of Canada stands alone from the rest of
the government. The powers vested in the prime minister, along with the persistent media attention
given to the position, reinforce the Prime Minister of Canada s superior role both in the House of
Commons and in the public. The result has led to concerns regarding the power of the prime minister.
Hugh Mellon argues that the prime minister of Canada is indeed too powerful. Mellon refers to the
prime minister s control over Canada a prime ministerial government, where the prime minister
encounters few constraints on the usage of his powers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How can the Canadian government be dominated by one ruler when it has democratic elections with

Stylistic Devices In The Opening Ceremony
Another tendency noted in the British newspapers is the frequent use of stylistic devices such as
oxymoron, antithesis or paradoxes, in order to describe the opening ceremony and Britain. Most of
them were retrieved from The Guardian, but they were present in all the newspapers:
The latter sentence suggests that the opening ceremony, and by extension the country itself, tends to
be described as a contradictory entity. This tendency is confirmed above all in The Guardian and in
The Times. As far as the adjectives are concerned, one can see that The Guardian is more objective
than The Independent, which only showcased Britain and the opening ceremony under a very positive
light. However, a majority of positive qualifications were used, and Matthew Caines, from The
Guardian, pointed out that the newspaper was pretty much all out of adjectives to describe the
spectacle.

Reaction to Boyle s Socialist Vision of the United Kingdom
Whereas the majority of the audience praised the opening ceremony, some did not agree with the
general burst of enthusiasm. As mentioned in a previous section, one recurrent negative adjective that
was used in all of the newspapers that have been analysed is the word leftie .
That controversy ensued from a series of tweets posted by the British Conservative Member of
Parliament for Cannock Chase, Aidan Burley, on July 27, 2012, during the London 2012 opening
ceremony. The MP fiercely denounced the social and multicultural aspect depicted in the spectacle,
labelling it leftie, multicultural crap . The actual tweets were:
The most leftie opening ceremony I have ever seen more than Beijing, the capital of a Communist
state! Welfare Tribute next?

The Book Of Genesis And The Theogony
A lot can be inferred about the historical cultures and societies of the Hebrews and ancient Greeks
based on Genesis and Hesiod s Theogony. The stories that these societies told have been passed down
for countless generations, and, in fact, are still well known today. The Book of Genesis and The
Theogony are both written to describe the creation of man and the Earth and who took part in these
creations. The differences between these creation stories directly reflect the cultures that they were
raised from, thus reading these stories, the audience is able to get insight into the way people lived in
these times and the structure of their society. The Book of Genesis and The Theogony were both
written in order to detail the creation of the Earth and man, and while they are similar in those aspects,
the many differences that are present in these stories offer a complex understanding of many cultural
and societal differences between the Hebrews and the Greeks. Genesis and The Theogony both claim
that the Earth started in a void, but both texts pursue completely different stories about how the world
came to be after the fact (Genesis 1:2, Boardman 18). In Genesis, there is only one all powerful God
present, and this one God is responsible for the creation of both man and the Earth. The Book of
Genesis begins by stating that God created the heaven and the earth (Genesis 1:1), and goes on to
describe God s process in creating nature, and eventually, man. There is one God in

Gender Identity As An Unacceptable Act
David had yet again stolen his sister s dress but this time, his father was home to witness it. David
loved cross dressing and playing kitchen. His father, on the other hand, was a strict ex military officer.
David s father was a homophobic man who had zero tolerance for gay behavior. David s father
believed that, Cooking is a woman s job, so men do not belong in the kitchen. If a man does things
that are meant for a woman, that man is definitely gay! Such beliefs of what a man can or cannot do
restricts the self expression of the man. Inadvertently, these beliefs also lead to misogyny. Women are
seen as submissive objects to be toyed with. Men treat women as property, in order to appear

I always get my vitamins. This is proof that society and western culture, believe that women belong in
the kitchen or at home doing housework. The idea of a woman doing work that requires hard labor or
strength, or better yet, doing work outside of what is believed to be her area of concentration, is
completely incompatible with the western cultural conception of an ideal woman. In the average
household, the man is believed to be the breadwinner of the family. He becomes the dominant figure
of the family. The woman becomes the submissive figure the one who does domestic work. The
conception of an ideal male by western culture portrays a man to not do domestic work in the home.
Who makes these notions? And why do we accept them as acceptable notions of division? If a man
was stay home, put an apron on, do housework and cook, it would misinterpreted wrongly. It could be
the man s way of showing affection and gratitude to his wife s work around the house. Society could
view it as a violation of the gender norm and start making assumptions and conclusions on the man s
sexual orientation. Does wearing an apron define a person s gender or sexuality?
Cross dressing has always been issue of conflict everywhere, especially in school environment.

Mountaintop Removal Essay
Coal (n): A combustible black or dark brown rock consisting mainly of carbonized plant matter, found
mainly in underground deposits and widely used as fuel. This little rock is what keeps 39% of our
nation running. 10% of that coal comes from stripping the Appalachian mountain range of her
beautiful peaks in a process called strip mining or, more popularly, Mountaintop Removal. Coal is
considered a non renewable energy resource, meaning once it s depleted, it will not return for millions
of years. Once it s gone, it s gone. These non renewable sources are found deep underground. Coal
needs to be mined out, either by machine or by manual labor. The use of and the process in which we
procure coal is a detriment to both the environment and the people in said environment. It is
dangerous to the workers within the mines, the flora and fauna around the sites, and the surrounding
communities.
Mountaintop Removal is the process in which the top of the mountain is removed, as the moniker may
suggest. The layer of topsoil and vegetation must be removed and cleared away to reach the coal
beneath. The plant life removed from the mountain is labelled overburden and cleared away. It is
rarely ever used for any real purpose, and is often burned. The process of removing the topsoil and
vegetation leaves the fauna in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

performed by Duke University researchers concluded that parts of the Appalachian mountain range are
at least forty percent flatter than they were just forty years ago, before the strip mining began. This is
due in part to the flattening of the mountaintops, and partially to filling in the valleys with overburden

Allusions In Beowulf
Many critics have argued whether or not Beowulf is a Christian epic, but I believe that the answer is
fairly clear. Although the characters in the poem are pagan, it is believed that the poet may have been a
Christian monk, which alone hints that it may be a Christian poem. In my opinion, Beowulf is a
Christian epic because of key Biblical references, the sorrow that the poet expresses for the characters,
and the praise the poet gives to his God.
There are numerous references to the Bible in the poem, but I believe that the most important one is
the one that compare Grendel to Cain from the story of Cain and Abel. When Grendel is first
introduced the author writes, Grendel... among the banished monsters, Cain s clan, whom the Creator
had outlawed and condemned as outcasts (Beowulf 102 7). Some may argue that the fact that the
author references the Bible can alone prove that it is a Christian epic, but I think that there is more to
it. At the time the poem is set, killing your brother is considered extremely evil, which is why the
author condemned Unferth at the beginning. Therefore, Cain essentially represents evil as he killed his
brother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author proclaims, Oh, cursed is he who in time of trouble has to thrust his soul in the fire s
embrace, forfeiting help; he has nowhere to turn (183 6). By saying this, he essentially shows that he
feels bad that the pagan characters did not know about his real, Christian god. This helps prove that
this is a Christian epic, as a man who does not believe in a Christian god would be very unlikely to
feel bad for someone who did not believe in one either. Obviously, the author has some sort of bias
toward their religion, and assuming that religion is Christianity, that proves that the epic is Christian,
and was written by a Christian

Personal Growth At My Father s Hardware Store
Spending the last two years working full time at my father s hardware store has been a period of major
personal growth for me. For the first time, I took on a serious role in the business. I was no longer the
boss son: I was tasked with trying to turn around a business that had been struggling for quite some
time. When I graduated college I knew I wanted a career as an attorney. Prior to committing myself to
law school, I wanted to gain some insight into the legal world through experience. But after six
months I was unable to find a job or internship in the legal field. One summer night over dinner, I was
updating my father on my job search and career prospect, which was difficult to admit. As supportive
as he tried to be, I could see his disappointment. He then proposed I come to work at the hardware
store and see if I could help get it back on track. He no longer had the time or energy to invest into the
business.
I didn t see how working there could be beneficial for me. But after thinking it over for several days, I
realized this might be an exciting opportunity to challenge myself. I was to assume the role of store
manager, a role that is exhausting in a small business where I would be responsible for every single
thing that goes on. I spent the first few days critically and holistically assessing the business, trying to
figure out potential causes of the business decline and how I could help improve it. I noticed how

Completing A Competency On An Examination
One would think that completing a competency on an examination, such as a chest, would be a simple
task, however that is not the case. Even after completing a competency, careful considerations need to
be made, in order to produce a diagnostic radiograph. A patient s body habitus, height, age, and overall
health can affect the diagnostic information that is present on a radiograph. Additionally, these factors
will most certainly affect the manner in which an examination is carried out. Although I have gained a
competency on the standard chest examination, these factors require that myself and those around me
pay close attention to the needs of the patient. But with the guidance and knowledge of the
technologists at Spohn South, I find the efficiency with which I complete exams increasing as the days
pass. Recently, I performed a standard chest exam under the supervision of staff technologist, Timothy

female. She came to the emergency department because of an acute cough that had been present for

Essay On Shakespeare s Scribe Of Widge
Shakespeare s Scribe The main protagonist, Widge, was a worrisome scribe for the Lord Chamberlain

made him look bad, especially when he bruised his teacher, Mr. Armin. After his trip to earn money
for the company, he learned to respect people he hated and found a true family to stay with no matter
what. His journey was a wakeup call, changing his arrogant self into a well mannered actor. Ever since
the beginning, Widge had a distrust of Sal Pavy, as Sal had damaged Widge s shoulder by hitting him
with a blunted rapier. Widge never had the guts to face Sal, though; he was too busy fretting that he
would get in trouble if he laid even a finger on Sal, who would obviously have reported him. Sal said
mean things to Widge and tried to steal all of Widge s parts, which Widge had tried hard to earn. His
fake father, Jamie Redshaw, showed no moral support whatsoever, so Widge was alone in his feud
with Sal. His friends did not help either, because they too were afraid of creating conflict with their
mentors. Ironically, though Widge did not fight Sal, he argued over smaller things, like taking a ...

The Power of Fate in Oedipus the King
The concept of fate has existed since the time of the ancient Greeks. The Greeks believed very
strongly in fate, which can be defined as either a power beyond human control that determines events,
or the outcome or end. In Oedipus Rex, King Oedipus lives and dies by fate. Fate influences the entire
plot, thereby allowing for some interesting developments that may be unpredictable to the audience.
In Sophocles Oedipus Rex , fate truly is a huge factor in many scenes and events. According to ancient
Greek belief, the word of God was fate, and fate was the word of God. Therefore, every event that
ever happened was predetermined and unchangeable. Oedipus himself has been completely ... Show

For some fateful offense he committed at the feet of the gods, he was doomed to suffer a horrendous
curse, which was that his son would grow up to kill him one day and marry his (Laius s) wife. Jocasta
was also very much influenced by the mysteries of fate. She delivered a baby who later delivered her
many babies in an incestuous relationship, though she was not cognizant of the fact when it occurred.
She also did not hesitate to throw her baby simply because the word of Apollo said that her son would
kill her husband and marry her later. This is an example of the fateful word of God whom the Greeks
believed was the be all, end all (Elsom, 87). Thus, she too was a victim of fate, as everybody else was.
Oedipus was not just fated by events beyond his control, but he was also fated by excessive hubris and
pride. He was so proud, he had to kill an old man denying him passage on a forlorn crossroad (his
father, Laius). He was so proud that he was blinded by his pride and could not see the truth of his
existence until the pride was finally shattered. He was too proud to accept the fact that he could not
avoid his fate. Such as when he accused Creon of conspiracy to murder Laius; he was too blinded by
pride to accept the fact that he himself could be guilty. You, plotting to kill me, kill the king I see it all,
the marauding thief... (Sophocles, 181).

Although every slave was important to the culture and society that developed in America, some slaves

not destructive, but that humans are and the winds only do what they must. She and her neighbors

Natural disasters occurring from the climate change could be on the rise. Global warming has been

flooding, mud slides, and other disasters worldwide. A tropical cyclone, also referred to as hurricanes,
typhoons, or cyclones, depending on where in the world the cyclone is occurring, are one of the world
s grandest shows of energy provided by nature. Hurricanes are large, swirling, low pressure storms
that have sustained winds of over 74 miles an hour and are formed over warm ocean waters (NASA,

Beta drift is caused by the Coriolis Effect and tends to have more effect on the storm as it grows due
to the increased effect at higher latitudes. Other factors such as high pressure ridges, wind shear, other
hurricanes, land masses, and the jet stream also have a steering effect on hurricanes. With all the
different factors of propagation, the path a hurricane will take is very difficult to calculate.
Ocean Currents and Hurricanes Ocean currents effect hurricanes far more than hurricanes effect ocean
currents. Surface ocean currents carry the warm waters to the hurricane breeding areas and fuel the
storms with warm currents along their paths. Cold water currents also play a major role in robbing the
storms of one of their sources of fuel when hurricanes pass over the colder currents, like the ones
along the eastern U.S. border. Hurricanes with their strong winds cause huge waves, mix warm surface
waters and their currents, with the deeper cooler water. Not much is known about what happens to that
warmer water once it has been sunk into the depths of the ocean but some suggest that the heat is
transported towards the poles via ocean currents (Bettex, n.d.). The Gulf of Mexico s loop current
creates large warm water eddies in the gulf and is likely intensifying hurricanes that pass over them.
These eddies are blamed for fueling some of the worst storms ever, like Katrina and Rita ( Ocean
Motion and Surface Events , n.d.).

Symbolism In Thoreau s Walden
As a background, Thoreau had lived alone in the woods by Walden Pond for two years and two
months, in Concord, Massachusetts. A lot of people had asked him how his daily life was when he was
there, and this book, Walden, is an attempt to answer that question. In his writing, he uses the first
person view which he states that he knows his self best and aims to give a what he call a simple and
sincere account of his own life. When Thoreau removed himself from society and chose solitude at
Walden Pond and wrote this book is a proof of which he can communicate his ideas well to the

In his book, Thoreau sets out his own beliefs about nature of human existence and society where he
stated that he believes that men does not need to work hard as they do if and only if they are willing to
simplify and also by following their instincts. He introduced the concept of voluntary poverty for
himself where primary necessities were identified. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Indian s feeling of the lake as heavenly is made clear in the tale, in which the individuals who
condemnations close to the lake were gobbled up. In any case the villagers too put down the lake, not
by reviling close it in any case by seeing it just as something they can use to wash their dishes, and
along these lines not acknowledging or even recognizing its hallowed beauty. In contrast, Thoreau
accepts he can find out about himself by investigating the lake. For Thoreau, John Field is a man who
has a place with society and is reluctant to go for the way of life that would free him from the
imperatives that make him troubled and trap him in an existence of obligation and abundance. Thoreau
s experience with John clears out him feeling elated in his freedom furthermore, recommitted to his
way of life, which permits him to appreciate the better products of

How Hippotherapy Is Helping Improve Individuals with Asd...
To help in the improvement of autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) many families are turning toward a
physical, occupational, and speech and language medical therapy called Hippotherapy. This form of
therapy might sound like it involves the Hippopotamus, however it actually involves the use of horses;
the root word hippo means horse in Latin. Hippotherapy utilizes an equine s multidimensional
movement and its dynamic base of support as a part of an integrated intervention program to achieve
functional outcomes in patients with ASD. ASD is a bio neurological developmental disability which
impacts the normal development of the brain and means that they have difficulty performing
functional daily living skills like feeding themselves, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Individuals afflicted with ASD have a difficult time taking the information on where they want to go
then telling the rest of their body how they are going to accomplish getting there (National Autism
Association, 2012). If the occupational therapist has the individual steer the horse to a specific
destination, then the individual must concentrate on how they need to move their hands to be able to
steer to the destination. Also to help with hand and eye coordination, the occupational therapist can
have the individual ride the horse and grab hanging rings. By utilizing the horse s movement in
conjunction with other standard occupational intervention strategies, Hippotherapy addresses and
bolsters functional outcomes having to do with an individual s ability to process sensory information
such as seeing and feeling the same thing differently or keeping balance (American Hippotherapy
Association, 2010). By having the individual ride the horse while facing backward, the individual sees
that they are facing backward, but feels the horse moving forward. Individuals with ASD have a hard
time deciphering the opposing information when a horse is moving forward, but they are facing
backward (National Autism Association, 2012). By practicing this difficult skill the individual
becomes more aware of what is happening around them and then is better able to

Consumer society
Explore the claim that a consumer society is always a throw away society.
In this essay I will be outlining consumerism and claims that a consumer society is always a throw
away society. Consumption plays a big part in our lives and causes us to live in divided societies. It
may make us feel like we fit in buying new gadgets and clothes and also give us that sense of
belonging but we don t take into account what happens to the old items and packaging. People do not
want to look at the problems caused. I will use this essay with the evidence I have read ... Show more

We often question how our food and clothes can be sold so cheap, this all comes down to where it is
made or grown. Our clothes are made overseas in factories by women and in some cases even children
in unsuitable conditions. They work long hours and don t get paid much in return, it is said to be less
than what they can afford to live on and made to work extra hours. This is why large stores like
Primark and Asda can sell their clothes at such little cost. Some of the workers are said to be working
60 to 90 hours every week for as little as £17 per month. (Making social lives pg.88) The workers in
the factories are grateful for their small wage and would struggle if the factories were to close and
business was took elsewhere.
The growth of consumption has caused a large increase in rubbish. This is due to people having more
choice when out shopping. Many years ago women stayed at home and men went to work but now
that both men and women are out earning there is a lot more disposable income which ends with
people buying luxuries and upgrading items they already have. This results in the old ones being
thrown away. People are constantly upgrading and renewing items to better models. Mobile phones
bring out new models every year which people feel the need to buy to keep up with the trend and
because they want the newest gadgets on the street. Pcs have changed to laptops which gives the pc no
home except out to be collected on bin day. This causes a problem

Best Movie going experiences
La La Land La La Land is very good. I saw it twice in theaters, which is odd for me because my
preferred method of consuming media is illegally pirating it (NSA, I know you re reading this, but this
confession is not admissible in court, ok? ok.) Anyway, the second time I saw La La Land it was an
8:00 showing on a Wednesday in Cedar Rapids that I had to scramble to get to because I left work and
didn t get any supper. So we stopped at Hy Vee, picked up some to go boxes of chinese food, and tried
to figure out the best way to smuggle the food into a theater. Thankfully, I was with a girl who was
infamous for her mom purses. Precariously setting the containers vertically into her purse, the contents
of which I unceremoniously dumped in the back seat, and draping a scarf over the top of the food ...

I thought I had outsmarted the Dubuque AMC by using an automated ticket machine rather than going
to a cashier, but I was flanked. A very ugly teenage boy who worked at the cinema was lurking outside
the entrance of the theater. It was a trap! Panicking, I pulled my wallet out of my back pocket to show
my ID, not sure if I d be able to get my $6 refunded. Luckily, high schoolers don t care about literally
anything and the dude let me pass. So, yeah, let s get to the aforementioned stereotypes. Devyn,
Amber, and I were the only white people in the theater. Y know the old stereotype about how black
people like to yell at horror movies? I don t want to perpetuate stereotypes, buuuuuuuuuuuut. Don t
Breathe is a horror movie. I laughed so hard my stomach hurt at a scene where the female lead is
nearly forcefully impregnated via turkey baster because a hundred odd teenagers were screaming at
the screen in effort to replace abject terror with some semblance of control over the situation. It was
like being surrounded by the robots from Mystery Science Theatre

Malcolm Gladwell Idea Of Success Essay
1. Judge the irony of the description on the back cover of the book as self help when the book is all
about how one cannot help themselves when becoming successful. 2. Malcolm Gladwell makes the
idea of success confusing. He is constantly pointing out individuals who have it and do not yet all
individuals have do different things in their lives that might be construed as successful. What makes
Gladwell s mother as successful as Bill Gates? Explain Gladwell s ideas of success.
3. Figures show that those who go to good colleges with poor grades are just as successful. Debate the
pros and cons of affirmative action based on Gladwell s arguments in the book.
4. Marita is very self sufficient and spends more time on her homework than doing normal kid stuff.
Gladwell says that this will make her successful in the future, but school teachers have told me that
hard worker good habits worsen as time goes along due to stress. Explain your take on the ideal.
5. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based on the book, success is not just a matter of personality traits. Success also includes where you
come from. How much of being a successful is dependent on one s background and how much is
based on one s personality (smarts, ambition, hustle, hard work)?
6. Gladwell says the reason Chris Langan never reached his full potential because he was not raised in
an environment that taught him how to socialize in order to get what he wants. Do you believe in
Gladwell s perception of Langan or do you think, with what he was given, he was successful in his
own right? Explain.
7. The author focuses and generalized a lot on race. Do you support his beliefs that personality traits
can be passed down through whole nationalities such as Chinese and Jewish

  • 2. Golden Apples Research Paper the golden apples as a part of the twelve labors. When the dragon died, the goddess, Hera, made a picture in the sky around the North Pole to honor him. Unlike the Greeks, Romans believed Draco was part of the Giant Titans who fought against the Olympians. During a battle with the goddess of wisdom, Minerva, he was thrust into the sky by the North Pole. No matter which myth you believe, both gave us the fierce constellation we have today. Another constellation is Orion, which is also known as The Hunter in Latin. It is one of the easiest constellations to find in the sky because many people spot Orion s belt in the sky. To find the belt, you have to look for three bright stars in a line and to the left of the belt you can find Orion s hunting dogs, Canis Minor and Canis Major. Also, you can look for the left side of the hunter s shoulder, Bellatrix and the right side of his shoulder which is Betelgeuse; these will help you locate where Orion is, since these stars are part of Orion. Another tip for finding Orion is looking for its seven brightest stars, which is sort of in a form of an hourglass and is located on the celestial equator. Orion is the most visible in the western sky and during the wintertime, so if you want to find orion look near the equator and for the three bright ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Causes And Consequences Of Mosquitoes Mosquitoes are significant groups of arthropods that inhabit aquatic habitats. They are probably adverse arthropods, which transmits wide range of pathogens that cause drastic deadly diseases such as human malaria, dengue, filariasis, viral encephalitis (Leopoldo 2008). Zika virus, another mosquitoe borne infection was first reported in Brazil by Pan American Health Organization in 2015. After the identification, the Zika virus has spread tremendously all around America. The illness begins with mild symptoms lasting up to a week after being bitten by vector mosquito. However, an infection during pregnancy may cause certain neurological anomalies like microcephaly and several other brain defects (Plourde Bloch 2016).Thus control of mosquitoes becomes the need of the hour to prevent wide epidemic infections. However, it is difficult to control and prevent severe consequences created by mosquito species (Aneesh 2009). • 4. Bartleby The Scrivener Response Essay In nearly all situations of life, we find ourselves faced with the familiar face of a blank wall: Ominous, judging, begrudging walls. Some tend to be symbolic; others tend to be quite literal, both cases leaving us puzzled at how to get around such an obstruction. In Herman Melville s short story Bartleby, The Scrivener, the title character faces quite a similar dilemma. All throughout the story, Bartleby faces an assortment of walls, most notably a blackened brick wall right outside his office window. This wall becomes a preoccupation for him, leaving him in what one can only call a dead wall reverie (Melville 17). By the end of the story the walls go from an enclosure to, quite literally, a tomb for the distraught writer. Over the years, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are a common theme in Bartleby , from the walls themselves being given a grim description This view might have been considered rather tame, than otherwise, deficient in what the landscape painters call life (Melville 2). To Bartleby s own implicit demise. Whether it be a result of being pushed away from human contact, rejecting the concept of socialization, or an inability to relay what must be said to others, Bartleby s situation lead to his descent into hopelessness and death. Such points are addressed in Steven Ryan s interpretation, in which he states: ...one could easily understand the...logic that would see within Bartleby s dead wall reverie as...a recognition of the cosmic void (death, isolation...limitations) (Ryan 42). For hours upon hours, Bartleby stands and stares aimlessly at the wall outside his window and at the walls of the prison. He refuses to work, as he also refuses to work. In the end, we alongside Bartleby realize there is no true escape for him except prison or his own inevitable death. By rejecting all basic necessities of life, Bartleby seems to come to his own acceptance of the latter, but is prepared to face the former with the same motives; and that he does. The office walls and prison walls are essentially the same to him, as he knows that both will do the same thing to keep him contained. In the same manner, the walls of approaching ... • 5. Catholicism Is The Faith, Function, And Practices Of The... Catholicism is the faith, function, and practices of the Catholic Church. The faith of the Catholicism is the belief in God, its function is to influence the world about God, and the practices involved are to serve in God s name and to worship God. The word catholic means universal , implying that everyone in the world could follow the Catholic belief. Reinforcing the fact that the word catholic means universal , many elements involved, such as one s experiences, the way the Church evolved, and sacraments, help build the backbone to the subject of Catholicism. The experiences of people contribute to the subject of Catholicism because it expresses that God could change the mindset and function of everyday life, suggesting that any experience could bring people closer to God. Prior to being a Catholic social activist, Dorothy Day lived a rather underground lifestyle and ironically had an abortion. However, after experiencing depression, protests, failed relationships, and even suicide, she decided to convert to Catholicism. As a result of her conversion and motivated by faith, she founded the Catholic Worker to devote her life to the poor. Even though she helped ease the struggles of the poor and needy, she ended up facing a lot of hardships during her lifetime as the founder of the Catholic Worker because of her efforts, such as being jailed, suspected as a communist, and even threatened to die. • 6. Alice Paul Historical Context Women s history in the United States has always been represented as a struggle for rights. Wealth and status were tied to either their fathers or husbands. In the early 1900s, women were afforded the traditional roles of society. The majority of women worked in the home. If they were of the 18% young or poor women, they also worked in factories as laborers, manufacturing items for the booming industrial revolution (U.S. Department of Labor, 1980). During this time period the workplace was not in compliance with current safety standards. There was no minimum wage yet, work conditions were horrible and they worked long hours, In 1900, the average workweek in manufacturing was 53 hours, (Fisk, 2003). Women took pink ... (Graham, 1983. Pg. 666) She did not believe state amendment was the answer; it was a waste of time. Because of this ideology she separated from NAWSA in 1914. Making this movement public was essential in ratification of the Constitution. Paul organized women on all levels. She knew that selling the movement to the American people would further the cause. Her first attempt was to campaign against all Democratic candidates. That did not do much to the political party. She had to reformulate a plan. She organized a group of women to picket the White House daily, except for Sundays, with banners of the President s own speeches written on them. Papers often carried the stories of the suffragettes struggles. When World War I was declared, that changed. Paul had many aligned supporters up until this point. In fact, many other organizations understood the plight for equality. Picketing about democracy during a time of war was considered treason by some and many just thought it was distasteful. Even NAWSA condemned the action. (Graham, 1983) Paul s strategy of using Wilson s own quotes, reading his speeches to the passing public, and then burning them, was starting to anger citizens. • 7. Morality In The Lion King The Lion King: Simba s Journey Towards Sanity and Morality Walt Disney s The Lion King opens with a magnificent introduction to the forthcoming King of the Pride Lands, providing the audience with an impression of the intriguing journey that is on the verge of unfolding. As the story progresses, it becomes evident that Simba is in the midst of a quest. Such evidence is portrayed in the film through his possession of heroic qualities, such as courage, love, and perseverance. In addition, the process of undergoing trials, receiving aid, fighting enemies, and succeeding at attaining the treasure sought, contributes towards sanity and morality within him (Myth of a Quest: an Archetype). Therefore, in the film The Lion King, Simba s journey would be considered a quest for sanity and morality since throughout the film the main character deals with a darker evil side, comes to terms with some kind of personal integration and reaches a self understanding. In the beginning of the narrative, a portrayal of various characters and their relationships with Simba demonstrates their contribution towards Simba s ability to comprehend the existence of a darker, evil side. First, the jealousy emanated by the antagonist, Scar, towards the position that Mufasa upholds in the kingdom, provides an insight to the evil Simba faces. Consequently, as a young child, Simba understands the difference between good and evil through the juxtaposition manifested in the behaviour of both his father and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. The Primary Mechanisms for Sex Determination Across the... Manolakou et al. suggest that there are three primary mechanisms for sex determination across the animal kingdom. The first is environmental factors. Fish and Reptiles do not have chromosomes that determine the sex of the offspring. The temperature is the primary determinant. Some organisms sex will be determined by specific environmental factors like temperature during the right developmental stages of the embryo. This is referred to as the thermosensitive period (TSP). The second mechanism is when a specific gene is responsible for a cascade effect that will ultimately determine the sex of the offspring. This mechanism is seen in some invertebrates like insects, and amphibians. The single regulating gene has not yet been determined. The third mechanism is the occurrence of individual sex chromosomes like what we see in mammals. In mammals the males are heterozygous and the females are homozygous, but in birds the opposite is true, but birds still have distinct sex chromosomes. Some organisms have distinct sex determining chromosomes, but they have yet to be discovered. How or why certain organisms develop into certain gender is not necessarily known, but the idea that there could be some sort of governing pattern could lend itself useful to comparative biology and reproductive endocrinology. Haplodiploid genetic system is a very curious mechanism in insects. The insects can be either uniparental or biparental, meaning one parent or two. The females can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The driver, a middle aged black man tosses a pack of cigarettes on the dashboard and steps out of the car. This is the opening scene of Moonlight, written by Barry Jenkins and Tarrell Alvin McCraney. Moonlight follows Chiron, an African American boy throughout three periods of his life, portrayed by three different acts: Little, Chiron and Black. It is a film that influenced my perspective on African American social life on multiple levels, specifically the presence of hyper masculinity, the view on sexuality and the drugs in struggling communities. Moonlight is one of the few glimpses I ve had of primarily black communities, and certainly the first glimpse of a gay African American boy growing up in a black community I have seen in any form of mainstream media. Prior to watching this movie, I didn t know much about many aspects of African American social life in regards to sexuality, drugs and hyper masculinity. I thought that it was more or less similar to the views on sexuality and hyper masculinity I have witnessed in my own life. The mainstream views on masculinity and sexuality (specifically in boys) I have witnessed are primarily that being masculine is a positive trait for boys, and that if one is not at least slightly masculine, they are either gay or joking. The bad and useless componets of the blood are sent to the ureter which is where urine is removed from the body. In typical fresh water fishes, the heterotopic thyoid follicles are often found in the kidney or the head kidney. In general, the active and fast swimming fishes have numerous and better developed glomeruli than sluggish fish have. Beyenbach and Baustian (1989), Beyenbach and Dantzler (1990), Baustian and Beyenbach (1993), Beyenbach (1995) and Beyenbach and Lui (1996) have provided a wealth information on the comparative physiology of the proximal tubule. As the first major tubule along the length of the nephron, the proximal tubule is invariably present in all vertebrate kidney. It performs most renal functions in glomerular kidneys, and virtually all transport functions in aglomerular kidneys. Aglomerular kidneys secretes magnesium and sulphate ions, an obvious adaptation to marine conditions. Nevertheless, some aglomerular fish can now tolerate dilute brackish water or even fresh water. As far as the adjectives are concerned, one can see that The Guardian is more objective than The Independent, which only showcased Britain and the opening ceremony under a very positive light. The MP fiercely denounced the social and multicultural aspect depicted in the spectacle, labelling it leftie, multicultural crap . The actual tweets were: The most leftie opening ceremony I have ever seen more than Beijing, the capital of a Communist state! Welfare Tribute next? Thank God the athletes have arrived! Now we can move on from leftie multicultural crap. Bring back red arrows, Shakespeare and the Stones! Seems my tweet has been misunderstood. • 20. The Book Of Genesis And The Theogony A lot can be inferred about the historical cultures and societies of the Hebrews and ancient Greeks based on Genesis and Hesiod s Theogony. The stories that these societies told have been passed down for countless generations, and, in fact, are still well known today. The Book of Genesis and The Theogony are both written to describe the creation of man and the Earth and who took part in these creations. The differences between these creation stories directly reflect the cultures that they were raised from, thus reading these stories, the audience is able to get insight into the way people lived in these times and the structure of their society. The Book of Genesis and The Theogony were both written in order to detail the creation of the Earth and man, and while they are similar in those aspects, the many differences that are present in these stories offer a complex understanding of many cultural and societal differences between the Hebrews and the Greeks. Genesis and The Theogony both claim that the Earth started in a void, but both texts pursue completely different stories about how the world came to be after the fact (Genesis 1:2, Boardman 18). In Genesis, there is only one all powerful God present, and this one God is responsible for the creation of both man and the Earth. The Book of Genesis begins by stating that God created the heaven and the earth (Genesis 1:1), and goes on to describe God s process in creating nature, and eventually, man. There is one God in ... The idea of a woman doing work that requires hard labor or strength, or better yet, doing work outside of what is believed to be her area of concentration, is completely incompatible with the western cultural conception of an ideal woman. In the average household, the man is believed to be the breadwinner of the family. He becomes the dominant figure of the family. • 22. Mountaintop Removal Essay Coal (n): A combustible black or dark brown rock consisting mainly of carbonized plant matter, found mainly in underground deposits and widely used as fuel. This little rock is what keeps 39% of our nation running. 10% of that coal comes from stripping the Appalachian mountain range of her beautiful peaks in a process called strip mining or, more popularly, Mountaintop Removal. Coal is considered a non renewable energy resource, meaning once it s depleted, it will not return for millions of years. Once it s gone, it s gone. These non renewable sources are found deep underground. Coal needs to be mined out, either by machine or by manual labor. The use of and the process in which we procure coal is a detriment to both the environment and the people in said environment. It is dangerous to the workers within the mines, the flora and fauna around the sites, and the surrounding communities. Mountaintop Removal is the process in which the top of the mountain is removed, as the moniker may suggest. The layer of topsoil and vegetation must be removed and cleared away to reach the coal beneath. The plant life removed from the mountain is labelled overburden and cleared away. • 23. Allusions In Beowulf Many critics have argued whether or not Beowulf is a Christian epic, but I believe that the answer is fairly clear. Although the characters in the poem are pagan, it is believed that the poet may have been a Christian monk, which alone hints that it may be a Christian poem. In my opinion, Beowulf is a Christian epic because of key Biblical references, the sorrow that the poet expresses for the characters, and the praise the poet gives to his God. There are numerous references to the Bible in the poem, but I believe that the most important one is the one that compare Grendel to Cain from the story of Cain and Abel. When Grendel is first introduced the author writes, Grendel... among the banished monsters, Cain s clan, whom the Creator had outlawed and condemned as outcasts (Beowulf 102 7). Some may argue that the fact that the author references the Bible can alone prove that it is a Christian epic, but I think that there is more to it. At the time the poem is set, killing your brother is considered extremely evil, which is why the author condemned Unferth at the beginning. Therefore, Cain essentially represents evil as he killed his brother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This helps prove that this is a Christian epic, as a man who does not believe in a Christian god would be very unlikely to feel bad for someone who did not believe in one either. When I graduated college I knew I wanted a career as an attorney. Prior to committing myself to law school, I wanted to gain some insight into the legal world through experience. One summer night over dinner, I was updating my father on my job search and career prospect, which was difficult to admit. As supportive as he tried to be, I could see his disappointment. Surface ocean currents carry the warm waters to the hurricane breeding areas and fuel the storms with warm currents along their paths. Cold water currents also play a major role in robbing the storms of one of their sources of fuel when hurricanes pass over the colder currents, like the ones along the eastern U.S. border. Hurricanes with their strong winds cause huge waves, mix warm surface waters and their currents, with the deeper cooler water. • 40. How Hippotherapy Is Helping Improve Individuals with Asd... To help in the improvement of autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) many families are turning toward a physical, occupational, and speech and language medical therapy called Hippotherapy. This form of therapy might sound like it involves the Hippopotamus, however it actually involves the use of horses; the root word hippo means horse in Latin. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Individuals afflicted with ASD have a difficult time taking the information on where they want to go then telling the rest of their body how they are going to accomplish getting there (National Autism Association, 2012). If the occupational therapist has the individual steer the horse to a specific destination, then the individual must concentrate on how they need to move their hands to be able to steer to the destination. Also to help with hand and eye coordination, the occupational therapist can have the individual ride the horse and grab hanging rings. By utilizing the horse s movement in conjunction with other standard occupational intervention strategies, Hippotherapy addresses and bolsters functional outcomes having to do with an individual s ability to process sensory information such as seeing and feeling the same thing differently or keeping balance (American Hippotherapy Association, 2010). By having the individual ride the horse while facing backward, the individual sees that they are facing backward, but feels the horse moving forward. Individuals with ASD have a hard time deciphering the opposing information when a horse is moving forward, but they are facing backward (National Autism Association, 2012). By practicing this difficult skill the individual becomes more aware of what is happening around them and then is better able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Disposable income Values of rubbish Overseas Factories Waste being sent overseas Seduced amp; Repressed Migrants Recycling Consumption Consumer society Explore the claim that a consumer society is always a throw away society. In this essay I will be outlining consumerism and claims that a consumer society is always a throw away society. Consumption plays a big part in our lives and causes us to live in divided societies. It may make us feel like we fit in buying new gadgets and clothes and also give us that sense of belonging but we don t take into account what happens to the old items and packaging. People do not want to look at the problems caused. I will use this essay with the evidence I have read ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We often question how our food and clothes can be sold so cheap, this all comes down to where it is made or grown. Our clothes are made overseas in factories by women and in some cases even children in unsuitable conditions. They work long hours and don t get paid much in return, it is said to be less than what they can afford to live on and made to work extra hours. This is why large stores like Primark and Asda can sell their clothes at such little cost. Some of the workers are said to be working 60 to 90 hours every week for as little as £17 per month. (Making social lives pg.88) The workers in the factories are grateful for their small wage and would struggle if the factories were to close and business was took elsewhere. The growth of consumption has caused a large increase in rubbish. This is due to people having more choice when out shopping. Many years ago women stayed at home and men went to work but now that both men and women are out earning there is a lot more disposable income which ends with people buying luxuries and upgrading items they already have. This results in the old ones being thrown away. People are constantly upgrading and renewing items to better models. Mobile phones bring out new models every year which people feel the need to buy to keep up with the trend and because they want the newest gadgets on the street. Pcs have changed to laptops which gives the pc no home except out to be collected on bin day. This causes a problem

  • 43. Best Movie Research Paper Best Movie going experiences La La Land La La Land is very good. I saw it twice in theaters, which is odd for me because my preferred method of consuming media is illegally pirating it (NSA, I know you re reading this, but this confession is not admissible in court, ok? ok.) Anyway, the second time I saw La La Land it was an 8:00 showing on a Wednesday in Cedar Rapids that I had to scramble to get to because I left work and didn t get any supper. So we stopped at Hy Vee, picked up some to go boxes of chinese food, and tried to figure out the best way to smuggle the food into a theater. Thankfully, I was with a girl who was infamous for her mom purses. Precariously setting the containers vertically into her purse, the contents of which I unceremoniously dumped in the back seat, and draping a scarf over the top of the food ... A very ugly teenage boy who worked at the cinema was lurking outside the entrance of the theater. It was a trap! Panicking, I pulled my wallet out of my back pocket to show my ID, not sure if I d be able to get my $6 refunded. Luckily, high schoolers don t care about literally anything and the dude let me pass. So, yeah, let s get to the aforementioned stereotypes. Devyn, Amber, and I were the only white people in the theater. Y know the old stereotype about how black people like to yell at horror movies? I don t want to perpetuate stereotypes, buuuuuuuuuuuut. Don t Breathe is a horror movie. I laughed so hard my stomach hurt at a scene where the female lead is nearly forcefully impregnated via turkey baster because a hundred odd teenagers were screaming at the screen in effort to replace abject terror with some semblance of control over the situation. It was like being surrounded by the robots from Mystery Science Theatre ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
