The Great Leader Of The Macedonian Empire
Over 1,000 years come between these two men s empires. Alexander the Great leader of The
Macedonian Empire that stood for 13 years. In contrast to Genghis Khan s Mongol empire which
began in 1206, and fell in 1368. Although difficult to compare to men and empires form totally
different eras, Genghis Khan had a bigger impact on the world with his empire. In order to fully
examine both empires in areas other than biographical. The focus in comparison will be in the
following areas: rise to power, enemies, size of forces, terrain, empire duration, prosperity, and long
term influences on their region. Remember upon the conduct of each depends the fate of all.
Alexander the Great. Alexander the Great was born on July 20, 356 B.C. He was born in the ancient
Greek kingdom of Pella, Macedonia near the Greek peninsula. His parents were King Phillip II and
Queen Olympia. Growing up as heir to the throne, Alexander rarely saw his father due to royal duties.
Much like the Famous Alexander the Great, his father was always engaged in military responsibilities.
Raised by his loving mother, Alexander grew to despise his very father. Like most modern day
children, Alexander was educated at a young age. His teacher Leonidas was not hired by King Phillip
for typical mental educational lessons. Alexander learned the common skills of math but this
attentively troubled child also learned how to shoot a bow and ride a horse. It was Alexander s

Nursing Leadership and Management
An increase in patient acuities, readmissions, and requirement for patient satisfaction among other
issues has created a greater need for more registered nurses in the hospital setting. Quality and safe
patient care is a direct correlation to the number of staff. With the demand of nurses on the rise, some
health care institutions have not readjusted the nurse patient ratios and the result is decreased patient
satisfaction, increased mortality/morbidity in patients, more health care associated infection, and
decreased employee satisfaction; leading to burnout and decreased staff ... Show more content on

A leadership approach to staffing issues may focus on how the current staff can work together to
provide quality care that is necessary for patient satisfaction, without experiencing burnout. While a
leader should keep budget and costs in mind, their focus should be using the available resources and
staff to attain the same goal as management. A leadership approach would be optimizing nursing
intensity based on actual patient needs to address the perceived nursing shortage by creating a better
fit between patient demands and the available nursing resources used in the clinical setting. (Welton,
2007).
The approach that fits the author s personal and professional philosophy of nursing would be that of
leadership. Patient satisfaction has a direct correlation with employee satisfaction. While there is an
issue of lack of staffing related to current hospital census and patient s increased needs, the best
solution that is available to all facilities is creating a positive environment in which the available staff
is motivated to provide the best possible care to all patients. Hiring a team that is willing to work
together in a busy, hectic setting is the key to providing quality care. Leaders are able to motivate
staff, enhance interpersonal relationships between staff and management, offer incentives for hard
work, and provide positive feedback. Staff members who feel appreciated on a regular basis for

Definitions And Classifications Of Language Learning...
Literature Review
Definitions and Classifications of Language Learning Strategies Strategy , from the ancient Greek
term strategia, refers to generalship or the art of war. In a more specific sense, strategy entails the
optimal management of troops, ships or aircraft in a planned campaign. Tactics is different but related
to strategies, which are tools to achieve the success of strategies. Moreover, the two expressions share
some basic concepts: planning, competition, conscious manipulation and movement toward a goal. In
nonmilitary settings, the concept of strategy has been applied to the non adversarial situations, where
it has come to mean a plan, step or an action is taken for achieving a specific objective (Oxford,
1990). Oxford (1990) stated 第二期(2007 年 3 月) 238 that strategies are particularly important for
language learning because they are tools for active, self directed involvement, which is essential for
developing communicative competence (p.1). Because of its significance, learning strategies have
been extensively employed in the educational field. In defining the language learning strategy,
different researchers use different terms and different concepts (Oxford Crookall, 1989, p.414);
therefore, a great number of researchers have formulated their own definitions which will be discussed
in the followings. Schemeck (1988) stated, strategy is the implementation of a set of procedures
(tactics) for accomplishing something and learning strategy is a

In explaining and predicting animal behaviour, different schools of psychology are of different
perspectives; e.g. cognitive approach focuses on the mental processes, behaviourism is based on
external stimuli and reinforcement, biological approach is concerned with the relationship between the

We can only access them with great effort; yet, some of them are entirely inaccessible. (Davis
Palladino, 1995).
Freud argued that most of our behaviour is motivated by our unconscious, but how could we know the
existence of it. Freud suggested that there are several ways to access the unconscious level. The first
one is free association, patients are encouraged to give free rein to their thoughts and feelings,
expressing whatever comes into the mind without monitoring its content, it assumed that repressed
material would be emerged ultimately. The second one is by dream analysis, he opined that
unconscious wishes are often manifested in dreams, sometimes in their true forms, sometimes in
symbolic form (Website : Webref), e.g. children s wish of candies or toys would be reflected in the
content of their dreams. The last one is named as Freudian slip; he argued that an accidental action
would be expressed as the unconscious motivations (Miell, Phoenix Thomas, 2002), e.g. A man who
said Peter is a bad (black) guy!
But what materials would be repressed to the part of unconscious? Freud considered that part of our
unconscious motivations was come from biological drivers, one of these drivers is sexuality or libido
in Freud s terms. It refers any forms of body stimulation that

Cyberstalking Case
Investigating a cyberstalking case presents a unique set of challenges. Evidence can be found in digital
form, so it can be protected from being lost or damaged, or the complete opposite can be true and it
can be easily lost, damaged, corrupted, or rendered inadmissible in court due to flawed forensic
gathering practices. It is important, with cases involving digital media that the same procedures be
followed when it comes to collecting evidence. Chain of custody documentation must still be kept.
The right software must be used to directly copy any hardware seized or searched for investigative
purposes. The first step in a cyberstalking investigation, just like most other criminal investigations,
involves interviewing the victim. Even if the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

stalker. If investigators can find out why or how the victim was chosen, it may be possible to find
more victims, who have yet to report the problem, or it could also vastly narrow down the search for
suspects. It may be possible to trace e mail messages by their IP address, and a suspect ISP can be
subpoenaed to provide records of their internet history. Text messages and Phone calls are time
stamped and a mobile phone or landline service provider can be subpoenaed for call histories and text
logs. If the stalker is determined to avoid detection, of course there are steps they can take to
counteract these types of investigations. The suspect can use VPNs or public Wi Fi hotspots to send e
mails, disposable burner phones for texts, or anonymous computer programs capable of sending texts
and attachments. This also makes finding the connection to the victim as well as the probable cause
for the harassing behavior so vital, it can be the main thing that gets the suspect caught. Even if all
those above steps are taken to avoid detection, investigators would still be able to gather evidence if
the suspect was under surveillance or his internet communication was being monitored and

The Negative Effects Of Sign Language And Sign Language
Over the last few decades, baby sign language has been a consistent hot topic all around the world.
Parents are bringing American Sign Language into the home as tool to communicate with their infants
from a very early age. Despite controversial debates regarding how sign language can negatively
affect a child s development of speech, there have been findings that prove this to be untrue. Teaching
sign language to infants facilitates early communication skills and better interactions with the people
around them. The first argument supporting baby sign language addresses the ongoing debate that
argues teaching infants sign language delays his or her speech. Research has found just the opposite. A
study conducted by Goodwyn, Acredolo, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King (2017) has research findings that show sign language to be the earliest way a child can develop
language skills and connections. Creating a platform of common understanding to children at an early
age will help them initially and in the future. Initially, it exposes infants to language well before than
can speak which gives their brains an advantage when it is time to transition into speaking English. A
child s spoken language is the main goal, but baby sign language gives infants the opportunity to
communicate much earlier than their first word. The average baby speaks their first word around the
age of two, and the average infant being taught sign language can produce their first sign in under a
year. A study done by Bonvillian, Orlansky, and Novack observed 11 infants that were being taught
sign language. Their findings revealed that on average, the first sign was produced around eight and a
half months, and the earliest baby signed their first sign at five and a half months (Thompson, Cotnoir
Bichelman, McKerchar, Tate, Dancho, 2007). These numbers show one of the clear advantages of
baby sign language. The difference between an infant learning sign language and one who is not, is a
whole year of additional communication. It is hard enough for parents to identify the needs of their
baby, but sign language helps fill that void sooner. Pressure is taken off of both the baby and caregiver

The Cell Cycle, Genetic Variation, Mendelian Genetics, And...
Introduction: This essay will explore the cell cycle, cancer, cancer, mitosis and meioses, genetic
variation, Mendelian genetics, and complex genetic inheritance. Each area will be broken down in
further detail, and the result should demonstrate the knowledge learned on the subjects.
The Cell Cycle
The cell cycle is a series of stages that occurs when a new cells makes the division from the parent cell
to two daughter cells. This is a stage in cellular reproduction. The cell cycle consists of three phases,
interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis. During Interphase, a cell will continue to perform its functions as
usual. The time frame for Interphase varies; while an embryonic cell will take just a few hours to
complete the cycle, a stem cell from an adult can take 24 hours (Mader, Windelspecht, 2015). After
the interphase stage completes itself, a complete nuclear division happens and mitosis occurs. During
the stage of mitosis, the daughter cells will receive the same amounts of the contents of the parent cell.
Throughout the last stage, in the cytoplasm there is a division known as Cytokinesis (Mader,
Windelspecht, 2015). Cytokinesis occurs differently in plant cells than it does in animal cells, as the
cell wall around the plant prevents the process from happening the same way. Instead, a new plasma
membrane and cell walls are built are built between the daughter cells. However, in animal cells a
single cell will become two (Mader, Windelspecht, 2015).

Age Is Only a Number in Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie Essay
Age Is Only a Number In J.M. Barrie s Peter Pan, young Wendy Darling and twelve year old John
Darling, along with Peter Pan, learn that maturity is not shown by age, but by attitude, as seen by
Wendy s motherlike attitude, John s fighting spirit and decision making, and Peter s immaturity at
times even though he is older. Wendy uses her attitude to help raise the Lost Boys and give them the
mother they need. John s headstrong attitude helps immensely in the fight against Captain James
Hook, as he is smart in fights and is able to make impactful decisions. Peter s immaturity shows that
even though he is significantly older than the Darlings, he has many immature traits. In other words,
age does not mean anything, just like Wendy, despite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is shown through his ability to easily help the Lost Boys and Peter Pan fight Captain Hook. John
does not think like a powerful warlord. He does, however, think in ways that many of the other
characters cannot. When Peter imitates the ticking noise that the crocodile that desires to kill Hook
and boards the ship late in the story, he strikes the quartermaster of the pirates. Thinking quickly on
his feet, John covers the mouth of the pirate, making sure he stays quiet. This helps Peter remain quiet,
an advantage which he uses later to finally kill Hook. John s quick thinking helped end the fight
against Hook. John also shows his maturity through his intelligent decisions. John knew at times, it is
best to pretend to act a certain way to avoid punishment or verbal abuse. John and Michael, his very
young brother, both pretended to be happy whenever Peter lost interest in adventures, so as to not
upset him. John would simply sit quietly when Peter would sit on a stool, pretending to go on
adventures. Denial of these adventures would certainly warrant poor treatment from Peter, and John
knew this. Therefore, John is also able to act mature even though he is only twelve years old by
exhibiting a great fighting mind and clever decision making ability, unlike Peter Pan, who tends to act
very immature and childish. Subsequently, Peter Pan

Animal Shelters and the No Kill Movement
Nationally, roughly four million animals are killed in shelters every year. Of these, roughly 95% of all
shelter animals are healthy and treatable. (No Kill Advocacy Center). No animal should have to ever
be a part of these awful statistics. What will it take to help save these innocent animals from being
killed senselessly? Animal kill shelters are horrible, inhumane, and overall completely unnecessary for
multiple reasons: No Kill shelters improve adoption rates, all animals lives are valuable, and No Kill
shelters save more money than other shelters. Why Waste a Valuable Life? Killing and disposing of
animals because there is no room available for them is unnecessary and inhumane. A shelter is usually
a place where something or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another question that comes to mind is if No Kill animal shelters are actually the solution or not.
Some pounds will kill as many as 90% of the animals they redeem and that owners hand over. But on
the other hand countless pounds are lessening their kill rates of adoptable animals to 0% (Animals).
Death should never be the solution when it comes to the lives of these powerless animals. Why Kill
When You Can Adopt? Usually when others are given the choice between a kill shelter and a No Kill
shelter the answer is almost always the No Kill shelter. What if each animal shelter in the United
States were to swap to No Kill shelters and if all the services and programs that help run No Kill
shelters were available? Well the United States would emancipate roughly four million cats and dogs
who are scheduled to die painfully in shelters this year, and the many years to come after that. This
dream is a dream that is not completely impossible to achieve (No Kill Advocacy Center). Why are
animals given a certain time line to be adopted when animals have the same right to life just as
humans do? Many passionate people feel the same way and that kill shelters are completely
unnecessary. The ASPCA has its own program called Mission Orange. This program works with
communities to help raise the shelter save rate by 10% a year so that it can accomplish a 75% save
rate by 2010 ( Animal Shelters and the No Kill

Persuasive Essay On Freedom And Privacy
We live in a world of ever growing technology. A world more connected than ever before in human
history and no one saw it coming even a few decades ago. In that short time, we have seen a world
more connected, one where everyone can know nearly anything about anyone and everything. It also
means that there is more potential for someone to be watching us at almost all times without our
knowing. This can be done through the internet or through what most usually think of when thinking
of surveillance, cameras. Surveillance can be done by anyone who truly wants to do it. It is usually
done by big internet corporations like Google, for example, who collects the data of their users all the
time and by governments. In this essay, I ll be focusing on the United States government s use of
surveillance through cameras, their collection of data of the very people they are meant to serve and
how that poses a great threat to individual freedom and privacy. In 2013, Edward Snowden, who some
view as a patriot and others a traitor, exposed the world exactly what was going on in the United
States. The National Security Agency or NSA had been tapping phones, collecting data and watching
the citizens of the United States as well as people around the world, including heads of states of US

Analysis Of Graham Norton s The Television Industry
The word genre has different meaning to different people. Lealand and Martin (2001) explain how the
television industry uses the term to categories and identify the various parts of its programming mix.
The audiences use it to identify and choose their viewing preferences (p. 59). The Graham Norton
Show comes under the genre of a celebrity talk show, but holds its own comedic spin. Norton creates
uniqueness to the show through the way he cracks jokes and interacts with his audience and guests.
The show begins with a witty introductory monologue of who will be on the show, then moves into
the classic couch interviews, and finishes with a celebrity music performance, conventions that all fit
with the talk show genre (Miller, Boddy Shattuc, 2008). The show focuses largely on the guests and
their lives, along with promoting what they are currently involved in, relating it back to the purpose of
the talk show genre (Miller, Boddy Shattuc, 2008). A subcategory of this genre is a late night celebrity
talk show, which The Graham Norton Show can also come under. According to Timberg, Bernard and
Robert (2010), the late night version is based on congenial, playful encounters between guests and the
host, who is more often then not a singer or comedian (p. 7). This subcategory became popular on
television in the 1950s, and increased in popularity thanks to shows such as The Tonight Show
(Timberg, Bernard and Robert, 2010). Since then they have become a lighter form of

Deep Brain Stimulation Implantation ( Shin ) Implantation
Deep Brain Stimulation Implantation
Deep brain stimulation (DBS) implantation is a procedure to insert a wire (lead) into one or both sides
of the brain in order to deliver electrical currents to an area causing problems. The lead is attached to a
power source that is implanted under the skin near the collarbone, chest, or abdomen. This procedure
may be done to treat various medical conditions, such as Parkinson disease, essential tremor, and other
neurological conditions that cannot be controlled with medicines.
Once implanted, the device can be used 24 hours per day. The intensity and frequency of the pulses
are programmed for each individual and can be adjusted.
The DBS device has three parts:
A lead. This is a thin wire. It goes through one or two small openings in your skull. It delivers the
electrical pulse.
A power source. This is called the neurotransmitter. It is usually placed under the skin in the upper
part of your collarbone, chest, or abdomen, similar to how a heart pacemaker is inserted. It is powered
by a long lasting battery.
An extension. This is a wire that connects the lead to the power source. The extension is passed under
the skin of your head and neck and down to the power source.

Persuasive Essay On Transracial Adoption
Adoption is the social, emotional, and legal process in which children who will not be raised by their
birth parents become full and permanent legal members of another family while maintaining genetic
and sometimes psychological connections to their birth family (www.childwelfare.gov). Transracial
adoption, or adopting outside one s own race, has become prevalent in today s society, especially
among celebrities. For example, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, are White celebrities, who have adopted
multiple children of varied races including African and Asian. This trend of transracial adoption has
sparked global debates as to whether or not celebrities and other individuals should adopt children that
are not of the same race. Many people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The National Association of Black Social Workers (NABSW), for example, argue that transracial
adoption is, in essence, a form of race and cultural genocide, claiming that children will not develop
proper skills to survive in a society that is racially biased specifically against them. As a result the
NABSW passed a resolution in 1972 calling for an end to the transracial adoption of African
American children (Lee 2015). The NABSW feels that Black children should be raised by Black
parents and express concern that Black children raised in White homes would fail to develop effective
coping strategies to deal with racism and discrimination and would experience subsequent identity
conflicts as they grew older. The idea is that the very basis of the upbringing does not convey the true
thoughts, ideas and behaviors of the real world . In addition to the argument against transracial
adoption, the NABSW also challenges traditional adoption practices and raises questions about
institutionalized racism within the adoption profession. They question the criteria and the basic
existing evaluation criteria for prospective adoptive couples that routinely prevented Black families
from qualifying, and stated that even though prospective Black adoptive families did exist, adoption
agencies were not only failing to recruit them and were, in fact, denying them in favor of white

The Declaration of Independence was created in 1776 with three basic principles in mind. The pursuits
of life, liberty, and happiness were the paramount issues focused on by the framers. The 18th Century
was a different time. Back then, every man worked on his own farm. He was expected to provide for
himself and his family. It was unheard of for anyone to receive assistance from the government. As the
country progressed and evolved, the rich got richer and the poor poorer. The Gilded Age of the late

Today, many Americans still rely on government subsidies to provide money for survival necessities.
Despite the reduction in many programs, Social Security, unemployment, and other federal programs
still provide money to millions of Americans. One of the greatest arguments in every political race is
the fight to keep or modify existing legislation that allows these programs to continue. In the 2000
presidential race, these programs were on the forefront of the political bickering between the
Republicans and Democrats. The legislation of 1996 has shown that it is possible to reduce social
welfare programs, but often it is difficult to eliminate them totally.
Social Security is the prime example of a social welfare program that is all but impossible to
eliminate. Created by the passage of the 1935 Social Security Act, money was to be provided to 35
million elderly American citizens who, at the time, faced a bleak, penniless future. Franklin Roosevelt
was one of the staunchest supporters of this legislation:

Packaging And Labelling Are Two Important Aspects Of...
Introduction:
Packaging and Labelling are two very important aspects of modern marketing, which puts a
significant effect on the success of the business. Labelling is considered as a wrapper or container of
the product whereas a part of the printed or written note that is put on the package is considered as the
label.
Colourful paper labels, the first form of commercial art was first brought forward by a European artist.
It is both used as a product identifier and an eye catcher for the consumers since 1880.This art, which
later became a profession of lithography, was used on packaging cases of fruits, boxes of cigars and on
cans of vegetables. The world s first self adhesive labels was established by an entrepreneur,
R.Stanton Avery and it turned to a very profitable business.
In the recent days, all sorts of companies takes huge interest in packaging and labelling their products,
keeping their targeted customers on mind and these have now become a very successful business
entity. Nevertheless, these have to be continuously innovated and recreated to keep the mass
consumers attracted towards the product. Packaging and labelling help marketing the product in a
numerous ways and thus through these the companies can reach the targeted consumers, ultimately
making a strong place in the retail market. Still, the Australian market of packaging and labelling is
comparatively minor in terms of international standards.

Genetic Engineering is a common theme of Gattaca, Splice, and Blade Runner.
Gattaca takes place in a future where the best opportunities are given people that have the best genes,
as a result from Genetic Engineering (cite). The main character Vincent has not been genetically
engineered and has many health issues like Myopia (cite). He aspires to become an astronaut. So he ...

Eugenics is defined as the science of improving a population by controlled breeding to increase the
occurrence of desirable heritable characteristics (cite). The film Gattaca was based on a society that
uses genetic engineering for these purposes. In The Ethics of Changing the Human Genome Daniel
Kelves argues that in the future, genetic engineering could allow eugenics to become commercialized
(cite). As an example, parents who could afford the procedures would be in a position to use genetic
engineering to ensure that their child will not have mental illness, grow to certain height, have a
certain eye or hair colour, or even determine their sexual orientation (cite). Over time this could the
elimination of certain groups of the population that have these characteristics (cite). Scientists
therefore have a moral obligation to society to prevent the possibility of eugenics and extinction of
certain characteristics by not further advancing this technology. (expand)
Secondly, the long term consequences of genetic engineering often overshadow many of the supposed
benefits. Some genes may be responsible more than a single characteristic of an individual. To give an
example, someone who does not have the CCR5 gene will be less likely to contract HIV, but more
likely to contract West Nile Virus (cite).

Child Support In California
Just like every state, California has guidelines in their statutes that outline the what, where, how, and
why of child support. The primary purpose of child support in Riverside, California is to do just that;
support the child financially in order to provide for their needs. As far as the courts are concerned, that
means whatever is in the best interest of the child (children).
The basics of what is included in California Family Code 4053:
The father and mother s most important and first obligation is to provide support for their child.
The child support obligation is mutual, consistent with what is in the best interest of the child, and is
calculated according to the income of both parents.

Likewise, child support may also reduce the imbalance in the standard of living for each parent.
California s cost of living is quite high and child support is ordered to reflect that fact.
California law surmises that the custodial parent, or the parent who contributes the most significant
amount of parenting time already contributes a significant amount of money and resources to support
the child. This factor can be rebutted depending on the circumstances.
California s guidelines for child support are intended to reduce litigation and conflict between parents.
The best interest of the child is the state s first priority regarding child support and the overall care of
the child.
Do these guidelines work as the legislature intends?
The goals of the statues regarding child support in Riverside, California are to prevent conflict
between parents, provide insurance that the child will have their needs met, and again, primarily
ensure their best interests are covered.

Snaps product life cycle
I am now going to try to identify the product life cycle stage of
Cadburys snaps, I think that Cadburys snaps is in between two stages: the second stage of its product
life cycle, this stage is known as the growth and development stage and the third stage which is known
as the maturity and competition stage. This is because Snaps have now been launched in the market
and also it has been advertised through the television programme coronation street, this helps snaps to
be well known to the customers and potential customers. Because it is being advertised the product is
in the third stage of its product life cycle advertisement also increases competition in the market.
How snaps fit in to the Boston Matrix
I think that Cadburys snaps are cash cows in the market as the product is still new to the customers
and it will take time for the snaps to settle into the market

Essay about The Function of the Shawl in Ozick s The Shawl
The Function of the Shawl in Ozick s The Shawl Suffering becomes a way of life for Magda, Stella
and Rosa, as they struggle to survive during the Holocaust. During these trying times, some cling to
ideals and dreams, while others find unusual vessels of hope like the shawl to perdure in their austere
living conditions. Although the shawl becomes a source of conflict between Magda, Stella and Rosa in
this narrative, it also serves as a pivotal force and a motivational factor. In Ozick s The Shawl , a small

Magda dies, Magda is seen by a soldier as she is grieving for the loss of her shawl (paragraph 14). A
young girl of 14, Stella barely holds on to her own life in the concentration camp, she desperately

longs for it because she is always cold. Rosa believes that the cold has gotten to Stella s heart. Not
caring about the consequences, famished and callous Stella steals Magda s shawl for warmth.

Different Types Of Cell Cycle
Chapter five primarily covers information about cells, cell division, and the different types of cell
cycles. The cell cycle is a sequence of events that makeup the life of a typical eukaryotic cell, from the
moment of its origin, to the time it divides to produce two daughter cells. Interphase starts off the cell
cycle and it is the longest stage in the cell cycle. Most cells spend 90% or more of their life span in
interphase. Interphase is divided into three main phases G0, G1, S, and G2 phases. This portion of the
cell cycle takes in nutrients; manufactures proteins and other substances, expands in size, and
conducts special functions which depend on the cell type. The G1 phase is the first phase in the life of
a newborn cell, and is known as the gap 1 phase. The S phase is the phase that follows the G1 phase.
In this phase, cells that are destined to divide, preparations for cell division begin during the S phase.
The s in this phase stands for synthesis . This phase is responsible for replication of the cell s DNA,
and this is one of the most important responsibilities performed in this phase. G2 phase occurs after
the S phase but before the start of cell division. The G2 phase is known as the gap 2 phase. The G1
phase, S phase, and G2 phase, each make up the parts of interphase. Cell division is the last stage in
the life of an individual cell. As cell division begins, the cell contains twice the amount of DNA
because of DNA replication in the S phase. The G0

Clubs and Non Profit Organizations
Introduction What s the deal? Clubs are very common establishments in our society. Firstly, before I
further explain all the required information, we have to understand that a club operates differently as
compared to a normal business/enterprise. The most imperative difference between a business and this
sports club is that a business is established with the aim of generating profit which the owner is
entitled to because the owner is the person who provides the start up capital. The low down A sports
club on the other hand, it is established to provide facilities to the members and no profit is made. If,
through fund raising efforts the club makes, the income generated exceeds the expenses incurred, then

the ACCUMULATED FUND account and if not, they will entered into the INCOME AND
EXPENDITURE account. iii. Sale on Refreshments Often, a club or society may have a specific
corner where refreshments and snacks are sold for the convenience of its members. This is not the
main activity of the club, yet, is a small trading activity that generates funds for the club. Western
Cape Soccer Club prepares a Refreshment Trading Account to account for the profit or loss arising
from such an activity. The money that the club receives from this activity will serve as a portion of the
income. When the physical refreshments are bought, this is recorded in the REFRESHMENTS
ACCOUNT which is an asset account. If there are refreshments left over at the end of the financial
period, these have to be recorded in the account called REFRESHMENTS ON HAND and these will
be used in the next financial period. Refreshments account will increase on the Debit side and if the
refreshments are sold, the account decreases on the Credit side (as it is an asset account). The profit
made will be accounted for with a contra account PROFIT ON SALE OF REFRESHMENTS. I have

Road King Trucks Case Analysis Essay
Abstract
This paper is an analysis of Road King Trucks new project which is introducing a new product into its
product line. I will decide whether run the project or not. Six issues will be discussed as follows 1)
importance of energy cost; 2) project s cash flows; 3) cost of capital; 4) choose an engine 5) evaluation
6) accept or reject.
We should accept the project because of the positive NPV and high IRR. We will gain $532 million in
wealth which is a big money on the scale like this. The company has a bond rating of AA that makes
the risk relatively low. So we should definitely say yes.

The land was accounted for opportunity cost. If we don t run the project, we can sell it and earn $6
million right now.
Cost of Capital (see table 2) I used WACC as the discount factor, we expect the rate of return to be
higher than it, the same at least. The WACC reflects the average risk and overall capital structure of
the entire firm [2]. It s the required return and it presents how much the company pays for the capital it
finances. In this case, the cost of equity is 10.33%, the cost of debt is 6.50%. I calculated WACC using
those numbers and got a result of 8.49%.
Choose an Engine (see table 3)
There are two options for engines will be installed on buses. And so are the warranties. The decision
should be made according to engines quality, effectiveness, etc. But to investors, cost is the main
factor. In this case, Detroit engine has an installation cost of $20,000 and a warranty of $1,000 each
year for 5 years; the cost of installation of Marcus engine is $2,000 less but the warranty is $1,500 per
year. To figure out the cost I calculated the NPVs of each year for 20 years. The NPVs of the
warranties for each bus are same at the year it been produced. For example, the warranty of a Detroit
engine has a NPV of $4,276 in the year it been produced. (This method is coming from Mr. Hasse. I
used to combine the warranty for each year and use those numbers in calculation.)
The NPV of installation cost and warranty of Detroit engine is $252,154,

William Shakespeare s The Midsummer Night Nights Dream
There are many characters in a Midsummers Nights Dream that could stand out, as the main character,
Lysander, however is definitely one of these main characters in the play. Lysander is a lover and is a
part of the group of four that focus on their issues with love in this play. Lysander indefinitely relates
to the theme of loves difficulty and the nature of romantic love. Although besides the themes of the
play being important to understanding Lysander s character, the way he is portrayed, via. Movie and
play matter just as much. Shakespeare has a specific intention for the portrayal of Lysander s
character; there are two movie versions of this play that both have their own portrayal of Lysander.
The question that arises from these two different portrayals of Lysander s character is; how do they
relate to Shakespeare s idea of how Lysander should be portrayed in the play? Is he portrayed
correctly? Is the portrayal effective?
The dominant theme in a Midsummers Nights Dream is love, the nature of romantic love and loves
difficulty. This is a subject that Shakespeare is known for. He returns constantly to this theme in all of
his comedies. Shakespeare explores how people tend to fall in love with those who appear beautiful to
them. People that are thought to be loved at one time in our lives can later seem not only unattractive
but also repellent. For a time, this attraction to someone s beauty might appear to be love at first in the
most intense moments, but one of

Effective Communication And Interpersonal Communication
Within this piece of writing I am going to go explain how effective communication and interpersonal
interaction is crucial within health and social care, I will also discuss theories of communication and
how they are effective within the health and social sector.
Communication
What is communication? Communication Is when two or more people exchange or express
information, thoughts, feelings etc. by using sounds, signs, or behaviors.
Why do people communicate?
People communicate to find out how people are feeling, so if there are any problems they can help
them out and take them to the doctors if needed, in some cases people communication just to have a
catch up with a friend. A good example of this within health and social would be if a person that spoke
a different language needed to go to the toilet you would have to communicate by using the right
translation book to understand what they are saying. There are many different types to communicate
which are; one to one, formal, and informal, between colleagues, with other professionals, between
professionals and service users, multi agency, multi professional working I am now going to go into
some detail about these different types to communicate to each other within a social workers industry,
I will be giving examples throughout.

yet another product under many business/individual deposits they are dealing with. Considering costs
associated and amount of work involved with Due Bill, it was not critical to meet their goals.
To resolve this problem, Firstly I will analyze gaps in system in terms of cost allocation, revenue
sharing , transfer price and create a strategy to address gaps, motivate teams across divisions to work
towards company objectives.
2) What is the transfer price from metro branches to the treasury and vice versa?
Transfer pricing necessarily results from the exchanges of goods and services among the decentralized
units of company. a) Transfer prices are the monetary values assigned to these exchanges are transfers.
b) Fundamentally, all cost allocation is a form of transfer pricing. * Minimum Transfer price = Outlay
cost + opportunity cost to the company as a whole
As per the exhibit 4:
Assuming opportunity cost is zero as exchange of services was between the divisions of same

The Life of Leon Trotsky Essay
The Life of Leon Trotsky
Leon Trotsky is well recognised as one of the greatest Marxists that ever lived. After being arrested,
sentenced to exile twice and supporting the Mensheviks, Trotsky was deported to New York
Citywhere he was to be a peaceful, productive member of society. Following the removal of the Tsar
during the Russian Revolution, Trotsky returned to Russia in May 1917.
In August 1917, Trotsky joined the Central Committee of the Bolshevik party whose leader was none
other than Vladimir Lenin. Trotsky assumed key roles in the events and policies concerning the
Bolshevik Government, which included the Bolshevik Revolution, Treaty of Brest Litovsk, the Civil
War and views on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Trotsky marched out of negotiations, however the immediate threat posed by German forces led the
Bolsheviks to sign the treaty of Brest Litovsk and agree to even harsher terms than what was first
proposed. Trotsky was the main negotiator at the peace talks, supporting a strategy of no war, no peace
. Despite Trotsky s actions at negotiations, forcing the Bolshevik government to agree to even harsher
terms, Lenin understood Trotsky s motivations as a show of loyalty to the Bolshevik Government and
allowed him to stay Minister of Foreign Affairs.
As the Civil War started, the Bolsheviks passed a declaration announcing the creation of the Red
Army, which was Trotsky s idea. On the 8th of April, Lenin appointed Trotsky as Minister for War.
Shortly after Trotsky introduced conscription and obtained the numbers to overcome the Whites, the
Red Army had a total of 3 million men by 1920. Trotsky s disciplinary actions paid off with the Red
Army being able to launch a counter attack, driving the enemy back. Thus, with Trotsky s other
military success of the Bolshevik Revolution and the support from within the Army, Trotsky took on
another major feature of his life, the Civil War and successfully created Red Army into victory, as well
as consolidating his power by being made Commissar for War.
By the mid 1920 s

Social Movement Theory Framing, Political Opportunities,...
Do the three core concepts of social movement theory framing, political opportunities, and mobilizing
structures provide an adequate account of the emergence of social movements?
Social movements have been a fundamental part of civilization s freedom. It is the bridge that takes
social grievances to the polity. Without this connection, people would not be able to express their
concerns freely. A social movement is much more than just spontaneous uprisings with no
organization; they are a complex organization that require detailed analysis to understand where they
come from. In this sense, I would be devoting my time to analyze the different factors that cause the
rise and development of social movements. I will consider a social movement as organized yet
informal social entities that are engaged in extra institutional conflict that is oriented towards a goal.
These goals can be either aimed at a specific and narrow policy or be more broadly aimed at cultural
change (Christiansen, 1, 2009). Consequently, it would be naïve to propose any explanation that relies
solely on a single factor as the reason for the emergence of a social movement. Any meaningful
analysis here has to happen through the understanding of multiple factors (both endogenous and
exogenous), as well as their interaction, which collectively culminate in any given type of social
movement. More importantly, it is key to understand that every social movement is the product of the
previously mentioned

  • 2. The Great Leader Of The Macedonian Empire Over 1,000 years come between these two men s empires. Alexander the Great leader of The Macedonian Empire that stood for 13 years. In contrast to Genghis Khan s Mongol empire which began in 1206, and fell in 1368. Although difficult to compare to men and empires form totally different eras, Genghis Khan had a bigger impact on the world with his empire. In order to fully examine both empires in areas other than biographical. The focus in comparison will be in the following areas: rise to power, enemies, size of forces, terrain, empire duration, prosperity, and long term influences on their region. Remember upon the conduct of each depends the fate of all. Alexander the Great. Alexander the Great was born on July 20, 356 B.C. He was born in the ancient Greek kingdom of Pella, Macedonia near the Greek peninsula. His parents were King Phillip II and Queen Olympia. Growing up as heir to the throne, Alexander rarely saw his father due to royal duties. Much like the Famous Alexander the Great, his father was always engaged in military responsibilities. Raised by his loving mother, Alexander grew to despise his very father. Like most modern day children, Alexander was educated at a young age. His teacher Leonidas was not hired by King Phillip for typical mental educational lessons. Alexander learned the common skills of math but this attentively troubled child also learned how to shoot a bow and ride a horse. It was Alexander s following teacher who finally figured out to ... Effective Approaches in Leadership Running Head: EFFECTIVE APPROACHES Margaret Russell November 28, 2012 Grand Canyon University NRS 451V O103 Nursing Leadership and Management An increase in patient acuities, readmissions, and requirement for patient satisfaction among other issues has created a greater need for more registered nurses in the hospital setting. Quality and safe patient care is a direct correlation to the number of staff. With the demand of nurses on the rise, some health care institutions have not readjusted the nurse patient ratios and the result is decreased patient satisfaction, increased mortality/morbidity in patients, more health care associated infection, and decreased employee satisfaction; leading to burnout and decreased staff ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A leadership approach to staffing issues may focus on how the current staff can work together to provide quality care that is necessary for patient satisfaction, without experiencing burnout. While a leader should keep budget and costs in mind, their focus should be using the available resources and staff to attain the same goal as management. A leadership approach would be optimizing nursing intensity based on actual patient needs to address the perceived nursing shortage by creating a better fit between patient demands and the available nursing resources used in the clinical setting. (Welton, 2007). The approach that fits the author s personal and professional philosophy of nursing would be that of leadership. Patient satisfaction has a direct correlation with employee satisfaction. While there is an issue of lack of staffing related to current hospital census and patient s increased needs, the best solution that is available to all facilities is creating a positive environment in which the available staff is motivated to provide the best possible care to all patients. Hiring a team that is willing to work together in a busy, hectic setting is the key to providing quality care. Leaders are able to motivate staff, enhance interpersonal relationships between staff and management, offer incentives for hard work, and provide positive feedback. Literature Review Definitions and Classifications of Language Learning Strategies Strategy , from the ancient Greek term strategia, refers to generalship or the art of war. In a more specific sense, strategy entails the optimal management of troops, ships or aircraft in a planned campaign. Tactics is different but related to strategies, which are tools to achieve the success of strategies. Moreover, the two expressions share some basic concepts: planning, competition, conscious manipulation and movement toward a goal. In nonmilitary settings, the concept of strategy has been applied to the non adversarial situations, where it has come to mean a plan, step or an action is taken for achieving a specific objective (Oxford, 1990). Oxford (1990) stated 第二期(2007 年 3 月) 238 that strategies are particularly important for language learning because they are tools for active, self directed involvement, which is essential for developing communicative competence (p.1). Because of its significance, learning strategies have been extensively employed in the educational field. In defining the language learning strategy, different researchers use different terms and different concepts (Oxford Crookall, 1989, p.414); therefore, a great number of researchers have formulated their own definitions which will be discussed in the followings. Schemeck (1988) stated, strategy is the implementation of a set of procedures (tactics) for accomplishing something and learning strategy is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Davis Palladino, 1995). Freud argued that most of our behaviour is motivated by our unconscious, but how could we know the existence of it. Freud suggested that there are several ways to access the unconscious level. The first one is free association, patients are encouraged to give free rein to their thoughts and feelings, expressing whatever comes into the mind without monitoring its content, it assumed that repressed material would be emerged ultimately. The second one is by dream analysis, he opined that unconscious wishes are often manifested in dreams, sometimes in their true forms, sometimes in symbolic form (Website : Webref), e.g. children s wish of candies or toys would be reflected in the content of their dreams. The last one is named as Freudian slip; he argued that an accidental action would be expressed as the unconscious motivations (Miell, Phoenix Thomas, 2002), e.g. A man who said Peter is a bad (black) guy! But what materials would be repressed to the part of unconscious? Freud considered that part of our unconscious motivations was come from biological drivers, one of these drivers is sexuality or libido in Freud s terms. Evidence can be found in digital form, so it can be protected from being lost or damaged, or the complete opposite can be true and it can be easily lost, damaged, corrupted, or rendered inadmissible in court due to flawed forensic gathering practices. It is important, with cases involving digital media that the same procedures be followed when it comes to collecting evidence. Chain of custody documentation must still be kept. The right software must be used to directly copy any hardware seized or searched for investigative purposes. If investigators can find out why or how the victim was chosen, it may be possible to find more victims, who have yet to report the problem, or it could also vastly narrow down the search for suspects. It may be possible to trace e mail messages by their IP address, and a suspect ISP can be subpoenaed to provide records of their internet history. Text messages and Phone calls are time stamped and a mobile phone or landline service provider can be subpoenaed for call histories and text logs. If the stalker is determined to avoid detection, of course there are steps they can take to counteract these types of investigations. The suspect can use VPNs or public Wi Fi hotspots to send e mails, disposable burner phones for texts, or anonymous computer programs capable of sending texts and attachments. This also makes finding the connection to the victim as well as the probable cause for the harassing behavior so vital, it can be the main thing that gets the suspect caught. King (2017) has research findings that show sign language to be the earliest way a child can develop language skills and connections. Creating a platform of common understanding to children at an early age will help them initially and in the future. Initially, it exposes infants to language well before than can speak which gives their brains an advantage when it is time to transition into speaking English. A child s spoken language is the main goal, but baby sign language gives infants the opportunity to communicate much earlier than their first word. The average baby speaks their first word around the age of two, and the average infant being taught sign language can produce their first sign in under a year. A study done by Bonvillian, Orlansky, and Novack observed 11 infants that were being taught sign language. Their findings revealed that on average, the first sign was produced around eight and a half months, and the earliest baby signed their first sign at five and a half months (Thompson, Cotnoir Bichelman, McKerchar, Tate, Dancho, 2007). These numbers show one of the clear advantages of baby sign language. The difference between an infant learning sign language and one who is not, is a whole year of additional communication. It is hard enough for parents to identify the needs of their baby, but sign language helps fill that void sooner. Pressure is taken off of both the baby and caregiver when ... Introduction: This essay will explore the cell cycle, cancer, cancer, mitosis and meioses, genetic variation, Mendelian genetics, and complex genetic inheritance. Each area will be broken down in further detail, and the result should demonstrate the knowledge learned on the subjects. The Cell Cycle The cell cycle is a series of stages that occurs when a new cells makes the division from the parent cell to two daughter cells. This is a stage in cellular reproduction. The cell cycle consists of three phases, interphase, mitosis, and cytokinesis. During Interphase, a cell will continue to perform its functions as usual. The time frame for Interphase varies; while an embryonic cell will take just a few hours to complete the cycle, a stem cell from an adult can take 24 hours (Mader, Windelspecht, 2015). After the interphase stage completes itself, a complete nuclear division happens and mitosis occurs. During the stage of mitosis, the daughter cells will receive the same amounts of the contents of the parent cell. Throughout the last stage, in the cytoplasm there is a division known as Cytokinesis (Mader, Windelspecht, 2015). Cytokinesis occurs differently in plant cells than it does in animal cells, as the cell wall around the plant prevents the process from happening the same way. Instead, a new plasma membrane and cell walls are built are built between the daughter cells. However, in animal cells a single cell will become two (Mader, Windelspecht, 2015). The Abnormal Cell ... Barrie s Peter Pan, young Wendy Darling and twelve year old John Darling, along with Peter Pan, learn that maturity is not shown by age, but by attitude, as seen by Wendy s motherlike attitude, John s fighting spirit and decision making, and Peter s immaturity at times even though he is older. Wendy uses her attitude to help raise the Lost Boys and give them the mother they need. John s headstrong attitude helps immensely in the fight against Captain James Hook, as he is smart in fights and is able to make impactful decisions. Thinking quickly on his feet, John covers the mouth of the pirate, making sure he stays quiet. This helps Peter remain quiet, an advantage which he uses later to finally kill Hook. John s quick thinking helped end the fight against Hook. John also shows his maturity through his intelligent decisions. John knew at times, it is best to pretend to act a certain way to avoid punishment or verbal abuse. John and Michael, his very young brother, both pretended to be happy whenever Peter lost interest in adventures, so as to not upset him. John would simply sit quietly when Peter would sit on a stool, pretending to go on adventures. Denial of these adventures would certainly warrant poor treatment from Peter, and John knew this. Therefore, John is also able to act mature even though he is only twelve years old by exhibiting a great fighting mind and clever decision making ability, unlike Peter Pan, who tends to act very immature and childish. Animal kill shelters are horrible, inhumane, and overall completely unnecessary for multiple reasons: No Kill shelters improve adoption rates, all animals lives are valuable, and No Kill shelters save more money than other shelters. Some pounds will kill as many as 90% of the animals they redeem and that owners hand over. But on the other hand countless pounds are lessening their kill rates of adoptable animals to 0% (Animals). Death should never be the solution when it comes to the lives of these powerless animals. Why Kill When You Can Adopt? Usually when others are given the choice between a kill shelter and a No Kill shelter the answer is almost always the No Kill shelter. What if each animal shelter in the United States were to swap to No Kill shelters and if all the services and programs that help run No Kill shelters were available? Well the United States would emancipate roughly four million cats and dogs who are scheduled to die painfully in shelters this year, and the many years to come after that. This dream is a dream that is not completely impossible to achieve (No Kill Advocacy Center). Why are animals given a certain time line to be adopted when animals have the same right to life just as humans do? Many passionate people feel the same way and that kill shelters are completely unnecessary. The ASPCA has its own program called Mission Orange. Norton creates uniqueness to the show through the way he cracks jokes and interacts with his audience and guests. The show begins with a witty introductory monologue of who will be on the show, then moves into the classic couch interviews, and finishes with a celebrity music performance, conventions that all fit with the talk show genre (Miller, Boddy Shattuc, 2008). The show focuses largely on the guests and their lives, along with promoting what they are currently involved in, relating it back to the purpose of the talk show genre (Miller, Boddy Shattuc, 2008). The National Association of Black Social Workers (NABSW), for example, argue that transracial adoption is, in essence, a form of race and cultural genocide, claiming that children will not develop proper skills to survive in a society that is racially biased specifically against them. As a result the NABSW passed a resolution in 1972 calling for an end to the transracial adoption of African American children (Lee 2015). The NABSW feels that Black children should be raised by Black parents and express concern that Black children raised in White homes would fail to develop effective coping strategies to deal with racism and discrimination and would experience subsequent identity conflicts as they grew older. The idea is that the very basis of the upbringing does not convey the true thoughts, ideas and behaviors of the real world . In addition to the argument against transracial adoption, the NABSW also challenges traditional adoption practices and raises questions about institutionalized racism within the adoption profession. They question the criteria and the basic existing evaluation criteria for prospective adoptive couples that routinely prevented Black families from qualifying, and stated that even though prospective Black adoptive families did exist, adoption agencies were not only failing to recruit them and were, in fact, denying them in favor of white ... The cell cycle is a sequence of events that makeup the life of a typical eukaryotic cell, from the moment of its origin, to the time it divides to produce two daughter cells. Interphase starts off the cell cycle and it is the longest stage in the cell cycle. Most cells spend 90% or more of their life span in interphase. Interphase is divided into three main phases G0, G1, S, and G2 phases. This portion of the cell cycle takes in nutrients; manufactures proteins and other substances, expands in size, and conducts special functions which depend on the cell type. The G1 phase is the first phase in the life of a newborn cell, and is known as the gap 1 phase. The S phase is the phase that follows the G1 phase. In this phase, cells that are destined to divide, preparations for cell division begin during the S phase. The s in this phase stands for synthesis . This phase is responsible for replication of the cell s DNA, and this is one of the most important responsibilities performed in this phase. G2 phase occurs after the S phase but before the start of cell division. The G2 phase is known as the gap 2 phase. The G1 phase, S phase, and G2 phase, each make up the parts of interphase. Sale on Refreshments Often, a club or society may have a specific corner where refreshments and snacks are sold for the convenience of its members. This is not the main activity of the club, yet, is a small trading activity that generates funds for the club. Western Cape Soccer Club prepares a Refreshment Trading Account to account for the profit or loss arising from such an activity. The money that the club receives from this activity will serve as a portion of the income. When the physical refreshments are bought, this is recorded in the REFRESHMENTS ACCOUNT which is an asset account. If there are refreshments left over at the end of the financial period, these have to be recorded in the account called REFRESHMENTS ON HAND and these will be used in the next financial period. Refreshments account will increase on the Debit side and if the refreshments are sold, the account decreases on the Credit side (as it is an asset account). • 32. Road King Trucks Case Analysis Essay Abstract This paper is an analysis of Road King Trucks new project which is introducing a new product into its product line. I will decide whether run the project or not. Six issues will be discussed as follows 1) importance of energy cost; 2) project s cash flows; 3) cost of capital; 4) choose an engine 5) evaluation 6) accept or reject. We should accept the project because of the positive NPV and high IRR. We will gain $532 million in wealth which is a big money on the scale like this. If we don t run the project, we can sell it and earn $6 million right now. Cost of Capital (see table 2) I used WACC as the discount factor, we expect the rate of return to be higher than it, the same at least. The WACC reflects the average risk and overall capital structure of the entire firm [2]. It s the required return and it presents how much the company pays for the capital it finances. In this case, the cost of equity is 10.33%, the cost of debt is 6.50%. I calculated WACC using those numbers and got a result of 8.49%. Choose an Engine (see table 3) There are two options for engines will be installed on buses. And so are the warranties. The decision should be made according to engines quality, effectiveness, etc. But to investors, cost is the main factor. In this case, Detroit engine has an installation cost of $20,000 and a warranty of $1,000 each year for 5 years; the cost of installation of Marcus engine is $2,000 less but the warranty is $1,500 per year. To figure out the cost I calculated the NPVs of each year for 20 years. The NPVs of the warranties for each bus are same at the year it been produced. For example, the warranty of a Detroit engine has a NPV of $4,276 in the year it been produced. (This method is coming from Mr. Hasse. I used to combine the warranty for each year and use those numbers in calculation.) The NPV of installation cost and warranty of Detroit engine is $252,154, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The question that arises from these two different portrayals of Lysander s character is; how do they relate to Shakespeare s idea of how Lysander should be portrayed in the play? Is he portrayed correctly? Is the portrayal effective? The dominant theme in a Midsummers Nights Dream is love, the nature of romantic love and loves difficulty. This is a subject that Shakespeare is known for. He returns constantly to this theme in all of his comedies. Shakespeare explores how people tend to fall in love with those who appear beautiful to them. After being arrested, sentenced to exile twice and supporting the Mensheviks, Trotsky was deported to New York Citywhere he was to be a peaceful, productive member of society. Following the removal of the Tsar during the Russian Revolution, Trotsky returned to Russia in May 1917. In August 1917, Trotsky joined the Central Committee of the Bolshevik party whose leader was none other than Vladimir Lenin. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Trotsky marched out of negotiations, however the immediate threat posed by German forces led the Bolsheviks to sign the treaty of Brest Litovsk and agree to even harsher terms than what was first proposed. Trotsky was the main negotiator at the peace talks, supporting a strategy of no war, no peace . Despite Trotsky s actions at negotiations, forcing the Bolshevik government to agree to even harsher terms, Lenin understood Trotsky s motivations as a show of loyalty to the Bolshevik Government and allowed him to stay Minister of Foreign Affairs. As the Civil War started, the Bolsheviks passed a declaration announcing the creation of the Red Army, which was Trotsky s idea. On the 8th of April, Lenin appointed Trotsky as Minister for War. Shortly after Trotsky introduced conscription and obtained the numbers to overcome the Whites, the Red Army had a total of 3 million men by 1920. Trotsky s disciplinary actions paid off with the Red Army being able to launch a counter attack, driving the enemy back. Thus, with Trotsky s other military success of the Bolshevik Revolution and the support from within the Army, Trotsky took on another major feature of his life, the Civil War and successfully created Red Army into victory, as well as consolidating his power by being made Commissar for War. • 38. Social Movement Theory Framing, Political Opportunities,... Do the three core concepts of social movement theory framing, political opportunities, and mobilizing structures provide an adequate account of the emergence of social movements? Social movements have been a fundamental part of civilization s freedom. It is the bridge that takes social grievances to the polity. Without this connection, people would not be able to express their concerns freely. A social movement is much more than just spontaneous uprisings with no organization; they are a complex organization that require detailed analysis to understand where they come from. In this sense, I would be devoting my time to analyze the different factors that cause the rise and development of social movements. I will consider a social movement as organized yet informal social entities that are engaged in extra institutional conflict that is oriented towards a goal. These goals can be either aimed at a specific and narrow policy or be more broadly aimed at cultural change (Christiansen, 1, 2009). Consequently, it would be naïve to propose any explanation that relies solely on a single factor as the reason for the emergence of a social movement. Any meaningful analysis here has to happen through the understanding of multiple factors (both endogenous and exogenous), as well as their interaction, which collectively culminate in any given type of social movement. More importantly, it is key to understand that every social movement is the product of the previously mentioned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
