3. Fallen Angels In America
Fallen Angels in America Tony Kushner s play Angels in America was set in the
1980s, amid Ronald Reagan s administration. Many people believe that this play is
political, since we hear a significant amount about Reagan. Additionally, his
administration has been largely criticized for its negligence toward the AIDS crisis.
Furthermore, numerous LGBT activists have blamed Reagan for overlooking the
epidemic since it was thought to be, for the most part, a disease that primarily
affected gay men and, perhaps not surprising, African Americans. Although, Tony
Kushner s Angels in America primarily focused on the AIDS epidemic in the United
States, Kushner masterfully used themes of political, racial, religious, hopelessness
and whiteness, to unload the more profound complexities inside the political views of
the LGBTQ development... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, for reasons unknown, a great deal. One fascinating association
between these two characters is the way they are both attached to the topic of
Renditions of Reality. Throughout the play, Prior experienced abnormal dreams
while Harper, the Mormon housewife of Joe Pitt, is engaged in discussions with
an imaginary friend, Mr. Lies. These two characters exist in another reality that is
different from the rest of the cast. For example, in one scene Prior and Harper meet
in some sort of weird joint dream. They do not know each other, yet share this odd
and intense experience. In this scene, the two characters support each other to
understand their essential truths: Harper helps Prior see that even though he feels
dejected and hopeless, some part of him is not tainted while Prior reveals to Harper
that her husband is a homosexual. Harper clarifies that occasionally you can see
things when you are on the threshold of revelation (Kushner 33). This is the space
where truths are revealed and secrets are
4. Myiasis from Larvae and Pubic Lice
Myiasis (from the Greek myi , fly) is defined as the invasion of living tissue by
dipterous larvae. Several fly species such as Oestrus ovis have been reported to cause
myiasis, affecting humans either directly, when the female fly deposits the larvae on
the conjunctiva or eyelids of a human host rather than a sheep or a goat, or indirectly,
through dirty hands. Ocular myiasis presentations include external
ophthalmomyiasis, when the larvae is found in the external ocular tissues, leading to
ocular surface disorders (conjunctivitis, punctuate keratitis) or pseudoorbital cellulitis,
and internal ophthalmomyiasis, a rare condition with a clinical course ranging from
asymptomatic to severe uveitis, retinal detachment and optic atrophy. Several
methods of treatment have been reported depending on the location of the larva.
Management of external myiasis includes the mechanical removal of the larvae in
association with topical administration of steroids to reduce conjunctival
inflammation.(1) This may be a challenging maneuver, as the larva tends to firmly
attach to the ocular surface. Some authors recommend the use of topical anesthetic to
loosen the larval attachment.(2) Double eversion of the eyelids is mandatory to
ensure that larvae have been completely removed. Early removal decreases the
potential of vision loss and larvae dissemination. For subretinal larvae, argon laser
photocoagulation has been used with successful results. Vitrectomy and retinotomy is
recommended if
5. Marxist Theory and Sport Essay
This essay will be an attempt to bring together the ideas from our class readings
about the Marxist sociological perspective as well as insight from other readings to
further my understanding of Marxism and its applications to sport. I will lay the
groundwork for the theory then proceed with how his theory is applied to accessibility
issues in sport, distribution of power in sport and commercialization of sport.
Basics of Marxist Theory
The most widely used political and ideological system of thought is that of Karl
Marx. Marxism is a set of ideas trying to provide an explanation for human society.
Although a little over a hundred years old his theories and thoughts have led to

Improving one s own position within their social hierarchy in society is impossible
for the Proletariat: there is no social mobility, meritocracy (a system of social
stratification based on personal merit) and/or ladder system, as the class being born
into will already determine the position in the social hierarchy (Lecture Notes, 2005).
The polarization between these two classes is obvious and conflict will occur as a
result of inequalities.
The Marxist s perspective is dominantly based on economic factors and over
emphasizes them; money is assumed to be everything within society and social life. In
my view, something is clearly missing here such as values and other social factors.
Assuming that money is everything within society leads to assumptions that those
owning the productive and therefore economic resources are given the power and use
it to control those without to maintain their hegemony. Further factors that can form
and shape society like gender, ethnicity, age, culture etc. are not taken into
consideration and neglected. Hence the Marxist perspective focuses on having versus
not having, earning versus not earning and powerful versus powerless.
Marxism and Sport
Marxism tries to identify which sports are accessible to whom. A recent example: in

8. Comparing Pilgrims And Puritans In Early America
Pilgrims and Puritans by Victor. B Lane
The major difference between pilgrims and puritans is mostly in definition and not
necessarily type. Both stem from the same beginning which was a deliberate response
to the failing religious state of a young England.
Protestantism was a difficult religion to fare during the reign of King Henry VIII.
Mostly because the king was a committed Catholic. When he replaced Pope Clement
VII as head of the Catholic Church it became pure treason and doubly, heresy, to
defy Catholicism (Lori Stokes Puritans vs Pilgrims in Early America).
During this time the Protestants stayed quiet and hidden until King Henry s radical
Protestant son Edward VI took the throne. However, this heyday for the Protestants

Couple this with the fact that the Separatists had no less a religious purpose than the
non separating Puritans who followed them and the name Pilgrims loses all meaning.
So Separatists they were, and Separatists they will be here.
(Lori Stokes Puritans vs Pilgrims in Early America)
These Pilgrims first set sail for Holland where they sought safe refuge to pursue their
religious undertakings. This did not remain as a lasting settlement for several
reasons. Not being Dutch it was hard for the Pilgrims to find work. Doubly, the
Pilgrim parents feared their children were losing their faith and religion (National
Society Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims). Even moreso, there was the danger that
Puritan children were being exposed to the licentiousness of dutch youth (pg. 27
Schweikart and Allen A Patriots History of the United States). A needed break came a
while later when the Pilgrims received assurances from the King that they could
exercise their religious views freely in the new world (pg. 27 Schweikart and Allen A

Between 6 and 8 million people in the United States have some form of language
impairment. Research suggests that the first 6 months are the most crucial to a
child s development of language skills. For a person to become fully competent in
any language, exposure must begin as early as possible, preferably before school
age. Approximately 7.5 million people in the United States have trouble using their
voices (NIDCD). Expressive LanguageDisorder is a developmental disorder where a
child will have difficulties expressing him or herself in speech. Characteristics may

language disorder is suspected. Expressive language disorders may interfere with
academics and social communication. Speech therapy and social skills therapies
may benefit children affected by this disorder. There are many successful everyday
people to this day that have struggled with this disorder, there are also some famous
people as well. Truman Capote was a famous American author who was diagnosed

10. Analysis Of The Poem Dover Beach By Matthew Arnold

An Analysis of Dover Beach by Matthew Arnold
Dover Beach is thought to be one of the best representations of the Victorian Period
all together. It portrays the mood and tone of what the people experienced and felt at
that time. Around the same time it was written, London had just experienced a
massive boom in their population, growing from 2 to 6 million citizens. At the same
time, London was becoming one of the first in the country to move towards
industrialization, causing some to lose their jobs due to machinery performing them
better and faster. People began to feel useless with technology taking over so
quickly. Many suffered from the expansion during the early part, losing all hope of
finding happiness and giving this moment in time a new name; A Time of Troubles .
Many other authors, like Matthew Arnold, began writing their personal accounts of
what they experienced or saw others experiencing, giving the feeling of melancholy.
The reason why Dover Beach represents the Victorian period is because in the way
Arnold wrote it, he didn t ground himself or stick to one specific subject. He creates
a mood by using a variety of images, metaphors, similes, and adjectives. The narrator
seems lonely, not mentioning any other person around him. One of the other major
problems being experienced during this time are also represented in this poem. That
problem is the loss of faith. Because of the new developments,
11. Essay on Exploiting Music Publishing Copyrights
Music Publishing Essay Over the past fifty years, the British Music Publishing
industry has undergone dramatic changes. It has evolved as an entity with
innovations in technology, changes and creations of laws and new mediums to
promote and exploit songs to a wider audience. Therefore, the way in which the music
publishingindustry operates and exploits its assets has completely transformed, and
continues to do so at a rapid pace. This paper will attempt to explore the ways in
which publishers exploit song copyrights and the way in which this has changed over
the past 60 years. It is important to define what is meant by copyrightand its role

It is vital for a publishing company to register with all relevant collection societies,
who would obtain royalties in the territory they operate in. In the United Kingdom, a
music publisher will typically assign its rights to the Performing Right Society, who
would collect all the public performance royalties on the publisher s behalf. This is
lucrative for publishers, as any space that is open to the public wanting to use music
must acquire a public performance license.
The ways in which intellectual property has been exploited through public
performance over the past 50 years have significantly changed. During the 1960s, the
BBC monopolized the radio industry with national and regional programs, until the
emergence of offshore pirate radio. This caused the BBC to rename its stations and
reintroduce local radio in order to counter the success of the illegal stations. 1973
introduced commercial radio, which saw a large increase of stations and shows
available. This had a big impact on music publishing companies, as they could access
a much wider audience through the larger range of outlets to exploit their songs, and
subsequently receive performance royalties. Radio expansion has increased
throughout the years with the introduction of DAB radio, and internet radio stations.
Furthermore, the expansion of television
12. The Cultural Context Of The Epistle Of James
Introduction The epistle of James considered the greatest practical Christian living in
the New Testament comparable to Proverbs in the Old Testament. Throughout the
epistle, there are over twenty references to the Sermon on the Mount, making the
epistle a small commentary on the sermon given by Jesus.
The Author One of the most discussed subjects about the epistle of James is who
wrote it. The author identifies himself James as a servant of God, without giving
any other clues to who he is. Three possible people could be the author of this
epistle: the first and least likely is James the son of Alphaeus, the second is James
the son of Zebedee and brother of John, and the last is James the brother of Jesus. No

However, just what does this mean, James explained in verse 18 that they are new
creatures or the firstfruits of his creatures through the word. Firstfruits, being the
best of a crop that the master would get for himself before giving away or selling
any. These would have been the best, most perfect of the crops. This is also
something the Jewish people would understand being mostly farmers. Now that
we know that they are to understand the word so we can be those firstfruits, what do
they need to do to understand? James instructed be quick to listen, slow to speak,
slow to anger It is interesting that James placed, quick to listen first, why did he do
this, to ensure the reader understands the importance of listening to the whole word
not just hearing what they wanted to hear. James is encouraging the reader to listen
to scripture whenever they get the chance for it is a sign of being a true Christian.
Slow to speak, first, they needed to listen, but they could not listen if they were
speaking. The need to hold their tongue until the end was essential to prevent them
from looking like a fool (Proverbs 17:28). Slow to anger, why is this last on the list?
13. Race As A Cultural Construction Of Race
In lecture, our class grappled with the concept of race as a cultural construction, and
how the issues that derive from race only have meaning because we assign it to
them; mankind could have chosen anything to classify themselves, but somehow
settled on skin color. In the words of Clifford Geertz, man is an animal suspended in
webs of significance he himself has spun racismwould be one of those webs that
humanity has tangled itself up in (qtd. in Hickman). We have studied raceas a mythical
reality, and racism as a cultural model that people have adopted in order to deal with
the complexities of the past. I had the privilege of attending a lecture given by Joan
Trumpauer Mulholland, an activist during the civil rights movement, and I

Growing Homes and me. Therefore, I am writing this document to clear up the

15. Methods of Reducing Prejudice and Discrimination
Prejudice can be defined as the judgement of a group or an individual based mainly
on group association. Prejudice is not necessarily negative. Ethnocentrism is an
example of positive prejudice towards one s in group. Discrimination can be defined
as the negative or positive behaviours towards individuals based on their group
association. Discriminationmay be obvious or subtle, either way both can be
damaging. Although discrimination and prejudice often go hand in hand, there is a
difference between the two. Prejudice is just the negative or positive view of others,
whereas discrimination is putting prejudice into action. An example of prejudice

Many prejudices seem to be passed along from parents to children. The media
including television, movies, and advertising, also maintain abase images and
stereotypes about assorted groups, such as ethnic minorities, women, gays and
lesbians, the disabled, and the elderly. Because of early socialization, some people
are especially prone to stereotypical thinking and projection based on their
unconscious fears. Psychologist Adorno proposed that individuals in their early
stages of childhood who are raised with overly ascetic rules that are cruel, will
develop an authoritarian personality type. This personality type causes one to become

people, he discovered children generate emotional hostility caused by having ascetic
boundaries forbidding them to question authority. This leads to them
16. Why Is Running On A Treadmill Speech
Good morning / afternoon
My speech will be done on Is running on a treadmill more effective then running on
the road
Running in general is a full body exercise, no matter if it s on a treadmill or just
running on open road. It has been debated since treadmills came out if they are better
than road running. I do believe that running on a treadmill is not the same as
running on the road. Yes they are both forms of exercises but I do believe one is
more effective than the other. So I m going to give you a full brief on why I think so.
Treadmills are a training machine, normally found at the gym or in one s home. They
have many parts that make it operate. There is something called the belt, which is the
moving surface you see and feel when standing on a treadmill. This belt gives
assistance to the runners leg turnover , there is also no wind resistance for the runners

treadmill even when its pouring outside, the weather should have no effect on your
running. You also won t find environmental challenges that will cause you to stop

problems runners face today with road running. You got to constantly be on the

If I ever find out who has killed my loved ones, I will be the death of them or they be

I am writing this entry, sitting at a desk in Scone. I have recently witnessed my
dear friend Macbeth crowned King of Scotland. I am still in shock after the strange
happenings of the past few days, so I am not yet overcome with neither joy nor
grief. I should be happy for Macbeth, yet I feel that something inside me will not
allow me to be so. These events, I fear, have not happened by chance, but that
something evil, something supernatural is at work.

Macbeth and I felt
immense pride, on that fateful day as we rode, victorious, over the moor. We had
just defeated the ghastly Norwegians, though by uncivilized means. Macbeth
rightly said So foul; and fair a day I have not seen . Not far into our journey, we
came upon three weird sisters. They all hailed Macbeth Thane of Glamis, Thane of
Cawdor, and king hereafter. True, he was Thane of Glamis, but we were puzzled, to
say the least, about the other two statements. As I was intrigued, I questioned them
about my future. In reply, they told me that my sons would me kings, and that I
would be Lesser than Macbeth, and greater . This confuses me greatly, for had they
not just said that Macbeth would be king? Of course, I chose not to believe these
instruments of darkness .

Amazingly, minutes after the sisters had vanished,
Macbeth was announced Thane of Cawdor. We
18. Toys Are Today s Society Essay
Toys Are Us
In today s society, parents throughout the United States differ on their views
towards children s toys. Some children face different options and consequences
when wanting a toy from the opposite gender section. Occasionally, you will see in
the headlines of a newspaper saying how progressive a mother is because she
allows her son to wear a princess costume. Mainly, the toys that are aimed towards
boys are associated with sports and aggression. Yet for girls, the toys that are
aimed towards them are associated with homemaking and glamor. These qualities
are so recognized and known that I have decided to do an essay on them to see
what is alike and what is different in the areas of the toys. I decided to follow two
families for this analysis. These two families both come from a Mexican culture. In
household X, the family is both Mexican and American. In household Y, the family
comes from a strict Mexican culture. In response to my analysis, based on what I
have seen in both of the households I visited, I feel as though the children should
choose what matters to them in relevance to the fun. Allowing the children to have a
variety of toys opens up different skills. Different toys bring different challenges.
Parents should not restrict their children to strong gender toys, as though it could not
help them develop physically, academically, artistically, cognitively, and musically.
In household X, the family of six had a young daughter who is approximately three

Policy recommendations to retain teachers include: salary increases, high quality
induction programs, prohibit out of field teaching, include teachers in decision

train teachers, and reduce class size. Voke suggests that policy makers and
educational leaders do not understand the nature of the teacher shortage. Moreover,
developing programs to attract candidates and not properly train them risks wasting

in providing induction and mentoring support according to the 10 key criteria; no
single state has perfected the programs, and half of the state do not require induction

22. The Basic Concepts Of Excellence
The EFQM model can be split into three different sectors, these areas help businesses
evaluate and improve their performance; these are:
The Fundamental Concepts of Excellence
The EFQM Model Criteria
The RADAR Logic
3.6.Fundamental Concepts
The notion of the Fundamental Concept of Excellence is to have a basic foundation
which enables the organisation to achieve a sustainable level of excellence. Through
the model; organisations are able to identify any problems that could potentially
affect the relationships between the company operations and the objectives the
business could potentially attain. The Fundamental concept has eight concepts; these
concepts are as important as each other as they all help magnify any benefits that an
organisation could achieve when integrated into its culture (EFQM, 2013).
The eight concepts are shown diagrammatic below:
Figure 1: The Fundamental Concepts of the EFQM Excellence Model (The Finnish
National Board Of Education, 2016).

from the foundation of the EFQM model criteria are: (EFQM, 2013)

their customers by understanding and fulfilling the needs of their consumers

23. Mabel Beasley in Shiloh Essay
Sergeant Mom
amp;#9;Mabel Beasley, the Mother of Norma Jean, in Bobbie Ann Mason s
amp;quot;Shiloh amp;quot;, has all the characteristics of a Marine Drill Sergeant. A
Drill Sergeant will inspect living areas for cleanliness, demand everything be in its
proper place, maintain strict discipline, and change certain personality or character
traits. The Drill Sergeant will force any person, without a strong spirit, to perform
acts of defiance against themselves, society, or the object of their tribulations. These
Drill Sergeant characteristics are very evident in the way Mabel governed Norma
Jean during her adult life.

It is doubtful Norma Jean will give Mabel another grandbaby. She is thirty four, and
it has been fifteen years. Now, Mabel is beginning to realize no grandchildren will
enrich her life while she is young.
Mabel s actual age is not known, neither is there knowledge of her age when she
married, or the circumstances surrounding her marriage. Was it possible she made a
mistake, and married because she was pregnant with Norma Jean?
amp;#9;Mabel s mistake, and the disgust she feels, has been directed at
dominating Norma Jean. Her hatred is misdirected. She cannot accept the fact she
was not a good mother during Norma Jean s teenage years. She was a single mom,
working at least one job maybe two, in order to provide a living for her and Norma
Jean: amp;quot; Her husband died of a perforated ulcer when Norma Jean was ten

teach her about life. Without a Mother and Father figure Norma Jean was left on her
own to experiment with life and make her own mistakes.
amp;#9;Mabel was determined to punish Norma Jean for the mistake. She would
interfere and disrupt her daughter s life without allowing Norma Jean to make any
decisions for herself. Mabel cannot understand why Norma Jean is not acting the way

24. A Comparison Of Dracula And Dracula
Dracula is the infamous vampire that readers were п¬Ѓrst introduced to by Irish
author Bram Stoker in 1897 when they read his novel Dracula (Stoker). The author
conveys the story of Count Dracula, a mysterious being that is half man, half
vampire that sucks blood from the neck of his victims to stay alive (Stoker). This
novel is an outstanding masterpiece of work, which is why it has been a prototype
for various movie releases over the decades, such as Nosferatu, Horror of Dracula,
Dracula A Love Story, and Bram Stokers Dracula ( Dracula (Universal Classics) ).
When a novel is a basis for a movie the hope is that the characters coincide from one

He cannot come into a house unless invited or walk in water and his favorite meal
is human blood (Stoker). While these traits are consistent in both the novel and the
movie there are differences (Stoker). Starting with the novel, it describes Count
Dracula s shadow coordinates with his body, yet in the movie, his shadow works
separately from his body movements ( Dracula (Universal Classics) ). The next
modification of Count Dracula s character in the novel is, he cannot be in or near
the sunlight or it will kill him, however, in the movie, he meets Mina in the
daytime and it does not harm him (Bram Stoker s). Then, in the novel, Dracula is a
purely evil, terrifying blood hungry monster that wreaks havoc on anyone he meets
and feels the need to take life or end life with his arch nemesis being with anyone
who wants to preserve life (Stoker). But in the movie when he meets Mina on the
streets of London, he pursues a courtship with her and he begins to develop feelings
for Mina (Bram Stoker s). When he proclaims his love for her and refuses to
condemn her to the life of a vampire, he is no longer a vile, evil monster (Bram
Stoker s). These modifications to Count Dracula s character in the movie make the
audience see him as a vulnerable, loving man with feelings for a woman who
reminds him of his dead wife Elisabeta (Bram

26. Delisting the Grey Wolf Essay
Delisting the Grey Wolf
The United States Fish and Wildlife Service are considering removing the gray wolf
from the endangered species list once Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming have enough
wolves to be deemed sufficient to continue to expand the wolf population, requiring
only that each of these three states have a management plan in effect to prevent the
gray wolf from becoming endangered again. With the current attitude of the
governments in these states, the wolf should not lose their federal support under the
Endangered Species Act as it would merely serve to cause the wolves to become
endangered once again, or at best, held to the absolute minimum population that the

The state legislature has favored the ranching industry above ecology and continues
to do so. Public polls conducted by Boise State indicate that the overwhelming
majority of Idahoans (nearly 70 percent) support wolf restoration (Laverty, par. 4)
and the legislature is seeking to remedy this by re educating the public with a
balanced view of the impact of wolves on big game species, those sectors of the
economy dependent upon sport hunting, livestock, domestic animals, and humans
(State, 3). Furthermore, the cost of wolf reintroduction will be presented as a part of
any public education program including direct and indirect costs (State, 3).
This so called balanced view was presented in a program in which the most
misrepresented issues concerned the economic impact of wolves. Ranchers were
allowed to claim unsubstantiated losses, with no attempt to validate the accuracy of
these claims (Laverty, par. 2). In granting the balanced view sought by the legislature,
the program portrayed the salt of the earth rancher as a poor victim of the federal
government s whim to restore the killers (Laverty, par. 2).
The lies by omission also showed up in this balanced view program, it failed to
expose the enormous subsidies that benefit

How do two stranger that barely know or trust each other become one another s best
friend or soul mate? How does a woman who had been abused or a man who was
taken advantage of learn to trust other partner with their bare unprotected self?
Overcoming the intimacy barriers in a relationship of any form is a very important
step to the healthy growth of that relationshipand the people involved. Intimacy
barrierscome in many different forms, they are very solvable and I have personally
let my own barriers hold me back from the people I love.
Intimacy is a hard task for some people to accomplish. The meaning of intimacy is
into me see . (1) It s a blending of our heart with another s, so we can see into who
they really are, and they can see into us. (1) On the flip side of intimacy is an
intimacy barrier which is when a person puts road blocks up so that there is a
harder path, or no way at all to connect with their true self. Without the ability to be
transparent to other people, there will be not solid foundation for the relationship
to be built on. Intimacy barriers can come in many different forms. Some of these
barriers may come out with stress, anger, addiction, miscommunication and or lack
of confidence. Each of these along with the many other forms are all very harmful
to a relationship if not dealt with properly. An example of a lack of confidence
being and intimacy barrier would be if a couple goes out to the movies and out of

28. Thank Bob Dylan With The Nobel Prize
December 20, 2016
Dear Nobel Prize committee,
The Nobel Prize for Literature is an outstanding prize that honors extraordinary
people for their works in literature. It honors people that have changed literature. On
October 13, 2016 you awarded Bob Dylan with the Nobel Prize in Literature. This
marks him as the first musician ever to win this prize. Many people agree with your
decision, while others are not delighted with this fact. I agree with the committee to
honoring Bob Dylan with the Nobel Prize in literature for having created new poetic
expressions within the great American song tradition.
Bob Dylan was born as Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941 in Duluth,
Minnesota. While growing up, Bob was influenced by Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee
Lewis, and Little Richard. He was also in a few bands while growing up. While he
was in college he began performing folk and country music at local cafes under the
name Bob Dillon. In 1960, he dropped out of college and moved to New York. In
New York, Bob met his idol Woody Guthrie and visited him regularly and became
great friends with him. In 1961, he signed his first recording contract at Columbia
Records and became one of the most original influential voices in the history of
American popular music. Throughout his lifetime he s been awarded with
Grammy s, Academy and Golden Globe awards. In 2012, he received the Presidential
Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama. Bob Dylan wrote music based on

Michael Jordan was an elite all star, known around the world as the best basketball
player in the world. Most people know him nowadays because of his enormous
selection of basketball shoes, but researching him made me understand why he even
has a shoe brand. Most people have know idea that when you bring up conversations
about Michael Jordan, they are actually talking about a being that has had so many
rewards, so many titles, and surpasses almost any player now and then when he
played still. His accomplishments led the way to him starring in a multi million
dollar movie Space Jam and a successful shoe brand sponsored by nike. But with
those accomplishments he really just made the rest of his family tree will be

31. Upper Paleolithic Culture
Humans of the Upper Paleolithic era brought about numerous cultural innovations.
In this time period we see the first art in the form of paintings in caves (Cyraboski).
With the spark of creativity, the roaring fire of the first artistic cultural revolution
was born. A wealth of new materials started making their way into the archeological
record. For example, clay, used for pots and figurines, and bones, which were carved
into beads and necklaces for personal adornment. The greatest culmination of this
newly born culture is shown in the burialrites of their dead. This is a brand new
cultural trait born in this era.
But how and why did all of these new innovations come about?
Why do humans create art, what purpose does it serve?

Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solar system, it also the fifth planet that count from
the Sun. There are many interesting facts about Jupiter s atmosphere. Jupiter has the
largest planetary atmosphere in the Solar system. The composition of the atmosphere
is mainly molecular hydrogen and helium. Although water exists deep in the
atmospherelayer, the concentration is comparatively very small. (Mahaffy et al.,
1998) Until now, there have been no satellites sent on to the Jupiter. Only eight
spacecraft sent to bring back information. The eight spacecraft were Pioneer 10,
Pioneer 11, Voyager 1, Voyager 2, Galileo, Ulysses, Cassini, and New Horizons.
(Tritonfun, 2008) Among these eight spacecraft, five of them are from NASA. For
this mission, an artificial manufactured satellite that functions as an orbiter will be

Licensing for personal trainers: legitimizing the profession. In its present form,
personal training only dates back a few decades, yet it is among the fastest
growing professions in the U.S. (Holt). In the 80 s and 90 s personal trainers were
predominantly heavy lifters who looked like they could soon compete in a
bodybuilding contest. The muscular physique automatically qualified each of them
as guru in the fitness world and helped quickly build a clientele. Towards the late 90

environment for a wide category of people with no desire to become huge. Personal

You can easily hurt a client or worsen an existing condition by using inappropriate
exercising techniques and approaches. Once I ve seen a trainer who made his new
client with swayback (lordosis) do multiple low back exercises with significant
weight. With such a spine condition you have to be extremely careful when
perform any activity involving low back and must primarily focus on strengthening
your abdominal muscles and back of the thighs in order to balance the inward
curvature of spine. As a result of that unconsidered workout the client had extreme
back pains and decided to stop training. Not only this could be prevented if a trainer
had more knowledge about lordosis (which is pretty easy to determine), but the
client would be able to improve his back condition with appropriate exercise routine.
This example shows that some certification organizations fail to provide the market
with well qualified and knowledgeable professionals. They are not regulated by state
and often offer take home or on online tests which objectivity is questionable.
Licensing, on the other side, means a nationally standardized test and leaves no place
for cheating. It is interesting to note that Howard makes a comparison between
personal trainers and other health professionals like Registered Nurses, Licensed
Vocational Nurses, Physical Therapists and Registered Dietitians who

type of communication media has its advantages and limitations. When developing
my presentation I decided to use both verbal and written communication, although
both communication methods were used I had to ensure that they were used in the
correct quantities. To keep my presentation engaging I tried to use as much visual
representation as possible limiting the amount of text per slide. I chose to use
PowerPoint because of its combination of written and verbal communication (not to
mention the cost effectiveness of choosing PowerPoint and simplistic interface); the
written aspects included the text on the slides, screenshots and images. The
screenshots proved particularly useful as they was of the actual database used in the

Many people have a pet in which they would never want to get hurt. Each year in the
United States, over seventy million animals are hurt and killed due to scientific
research. Many brands have taken the pledge to become cruelty free, but there are
still multiple brands that are continuing to use animals to test their products. Animal
testingshould be banned because it is cruel, often ineffective, can not detect for many
diseases that humans are exposed to, and can be unsafe due to the differences
between animals and humans. Animal testing has been seen as cruel and inhumane
for hundreds of years, especially recently with new technology for testing. In the
United States, it is legal for animals to be burned, shocked, starved, poisoned,... Show

There are many other ways to research how products will react on humans, without
the harm of animals. Over the years, ninety percent of the medications approved for
human use after animal testing later proved ineffective or harmful to humans in
clinical trials ( Stop Animal Testing ). Animal testing is not only ineffective,
inaccurate, and faulty, but it can also take years to research and is very time
consuming. The traditional testing of chemicals using animals can take up to five
years per substance and cost millions of dollars, while non animal alternatives can
test hundreds of chemicals in a week for a fraction of the cost ( In Testing ). There
are many other accurate and effective ways of testing products, without the use of
animals.
Animal testing can not detect for many diseases that humans are prone to due to
differences in the human body and the animal body. Humans and animals both have
very different physical and mental properties. It is impossible to replicate a human
disease perfectly in any animal. In 2006, the DRI announced that after thirty years of
testing, researchers discovered that the human pancreatic islet cell is dramatically
different from that in a rodent. This means that although researchers are still testing
on rodents, they should not be used to test for diabetes. Many drugs have failed on
humans after being tested on rodents, so why do we continue to

Revisiting the Classical theories
Introduction
Organization indexes considerably more than the structures that lifts us out of bare
life . Organization is also intimately, and utterly, connected to thought. While many,
and by no means just those in the West, think of themselves as free from
enslavement by others, and even free from the organization of the state, who can
argue that they are also free from the pervasive effects of language, culture and
science? These are matters into which we find ourselves thrown , long before we
wake up to their organizing effects. If, indeed, we ever do wake up. For if the

After the First World War, the focus of organizational studies shifted to analysis of
how human factors and psychology affected organizations, a transformation propelled
by the identification of the Hawthorne effect. Prominent early scholars included
Chester Barnard, Henri Fayol, Frederick Herzberg and so on. These people together
constitute what is generally called the Classical school. One of the first schools of
management thought, the classical management theory, developed during the
Industrial Revolution when new problems related to the factory system began to
appear. Managers were unsure of how to train employees (many of them non
English speaking immigrants) or deal with increased labor dissatisfaction, so they
began to test solutions. As a result, the classical management theory developed
from efforts to find the one best way to perform and manage tasks. It arose because
of the need to increase productivity and efficiency. The emphasis was on trying to
find the best way to get the most work done by examining how the work process was
actually accomplished and by scrutinizing the skills of the workforce.
Later on there were many developments in the field, but the role and importance of
this school remains almost unparallel and they can be grouped among the most
influential of all the theorists because it was these theories that the later day schools
and thoughts took as their beginning point.

Acne vulgaris is a multifactorial chronic skin disease of the pilosebaceous unit, found
in an estimated 80% of young adults and adolescents. [1], [2] The etiologies of acne
vulgaris can be attributed to increased sebum productions, follicular
hyperkeratinization, Propionibacterium acne (P. acne) colonization, and the products
of inflammation. [3] The commensal bacterium Propionbacterium acnes, a Gram
positive, facultative, anaerobic rod, is most notably recognized for its etiological
role in acne vulgaris. [1] The anaerobic and lipid rich environment of pilosebaceous
unit is optimal for P. acnes growth. [1]
Although acne is neither a life threatening condition nor physically debilitating, it can
produce a significant psychological and social burden. [4] Acne has been associated
with increased levels of anxiety, depression and other psychological problems that
further decrease the patient s quality of life. [5] Suicidal ideation in acne patients

to treat acne patients has been losing its preference due to the irresponsiveness of
antibiotic resistant P. acne to them.
39. Women During The Medieval Times
Matt Jackman

Women in Canterbury Tales During the Medieval time period that Canterbury
Tales was written in, there was a general depiction of women that they weren t
even looked at as humans, but looked at as objects. Women were thought of as
weak, untrustworthy, and even less intelligent beings than men. Chaucer did not
necessarily agree with the general consensus of women during the time period.
Now there are tales that go along with the general impression of women, but there
are also signs that Chaucer looked at women for what they really are and he might
have saw them as equal beings. Chaucer was a great mind and that mind was far
past his time, as he went against the tide when he wrote and he was not afraid to
write whatever came to his head. Canterbury tales can show us what women had to
go through in medieval times, and through Chaucer s tales we can see what he
thought of how women were were perceived and treated.
The only two women most significant and described in detail in The Canterbury Tales
who provide the greatest insight into women in medieval society are the Wife of
Bath and the Prioress. These two women appear to be similar in the General
Prologue of the poem but, as seen through their tales, they are quite unique women
and are very different from one another. By looking at the Wife of Bath and the
Prioress s tales, we can see the contrast between their social standards and behavior.
However, because of the fact

On the other hand, writing can turn ugly if they don t care about what words they
use and rush through the writing process. The idea is that ugly writing impedes
communication whereas positive writing allows for clear communication. Positive
writing serves the purpose of communicating clearly and concisely. It allows for the
flow of imagery from the writer to the reader. In contrast, ugly writing does
something else. It can be crowded with meaningless phrases and fillers. People need
to prevent bad habits from spreading by consciously guarding against them.
As ugly language is used in society, by written word or mouth, it can spread through
the population like a virus. Ugly writing is only ugly in the sense that communication
is hindered to some extent. I m not trying to say that the ideas behind the writing are
negative or bad, although they certainly can be. The intensity to which

used to cure an array of illnesses such as wounds and helped in relieving pain.
However, the effectiveness of such herbs were limited because they could not help
in curing infections. Infections were a main reason behind the deaths of people in
the past because once a person was infected, there was no way to deal with that
infection and cure it. That is how thousands of
