My Vision Is Turning Out At Michigan State University
My vision is turning out to be twofold because it concentrates in achieving an advanced degree from
Michigan State University. At this time, I am not sure what degree I will end up getting. At one point it
I was dead set on a law degree, but time and experience have taught me that I have not found exactly
what I am passionate about, but I do believe that I will find it with time. I do know that I regret
missing out on a traditional college experience and am now working toward pursuing an advanced
degree in the most traditional way possible. This means that I do not want to work during the degree
so that I can participate in graduate campus life and sports events. Until recently, I never really wanted
to go to college and maybe that is why I never really fell in love a particular school and waited so long
to get my undergrad. Now, I have fallen in love with Michigan State over the years and truly want to
experience everything that the school has to offer. It is important to me to make the school my Alma
matter. Additionally, the pursuit of knowledge and achieving a post graduate degree has become
incredibly important to me. It is my current dream to become a master in a vocation that I am
passionate about and that fulfills me. This is why I have made the decision to wait on school at this
time. Originally, I had wanted and hoped that my graduate degree would lead me to my passion, but I
now know and understand that for me the right choice is to try and find my passion

Essay On Why I Want To Be A Doctor
Mr. Flueckiger? exclaimed Mr. Freeborn. He had been the monotone teacher of my freshman biology
class and then my AP Biology class after that. I woke with a start. His lecture on genetics had been a
perfect melody for my post lunch nap.
Yes? I responded. The anxiety of fighting dragons in dream was nothing compared to this.
I asked, What is the probability that two parents, who are both carriers for Phenylketonuria, have two
children both afflicted with the disease?
I spent the entire night before reading ahead in my AP Biology book, finishing the chapter on genetics.
Obnoxiously, I retorted, If both parents are carriers, the probability one child will have the disease is
one in four. To have two children, both afflicted with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As an intern, I collaborate with the thirty nine operations run by Purdue Dining Catering (PD C). The
most ambitious project I have planned and executed was PD C s orientation program, Jumpstart.
Jumpstart is a program I have both participated and mentored in during my time at Purdue. The
summer between my sophomore and junior year I had the opportunity to plan this event involving
over 100 employees. This event allowed me the opportunity to leave my comfort zone and strengthen
my time management and planning skills. It also presented me with more hands on leadership
experience while running the program logistics.
A physician interacts with people of many skill sets, backgrounds, ethnicities, and levels of education.
His or her ability to communicate effectively and work in a team are defining factors of his or her
success. I have had the opportunity to work with many different individuals through my roles as an
undergraduate teaching assistant (TA), a Student Supervisor for PD C, and in research. The different
modes of communication and teamwork that each required taught me valuable skills that translate
directly to the medical field. As a TA, I could not only do something I loved, teach, but also learn
about communication in an educational environment. I learned how to communicate material in a way
that effectively reached students with different educational requirements. As a Student Supervisor, I
worked with students from all over

A Comparison Of Mein Kampf And White Man s Burden
Throughout both Adolf Hitler s political manifesto Mein Kampf and Rudyard Kipling s political
poem, White Man s Burden, they both have a few similarities and differences. In addition, these
similarities and differences might occur because of the context these individuals are writing. Mein
Kampf was completed in 1925 when he was awaiting in a jail cell. During this time, World War I had
just ended and the rise the fascism (an ideology that exalts the nation above the individual and calls
for a centralized government with a dictatorial leader, economic and social regimentation, and forcible
suppression of opposition) was coming forth in Italy s government. And at the same time, the
government in Germany was crumbling, and even before the German economy was a disaster. This
was created to help influence the Nazi Party and the intended audience being the Aryan race.
Throughout his manifesto he discusses his childhood and how he was most certainly born to be a
leader and a great leader at that. In the scheme of things, he portrays the fast that Aryans are the good
and trusted people and Jews cannot on the other hand be trusted at all. And on the harsher side says
that Jews should fall off the face of the earth.
On the other hand, White Man s Burden is a political poem and was created in 1899, around the same
time as Hilter s manifesto. During this time it was the end of the Spanish American war. Industrial
Revolution was going on and also colonization was occurring by most

Essay on Observations at the Park
Observations at the Park
A cigarette butt lies next to my foot, still emitting a trace of smoke. Nearby on the dusty asphalt a
pigeon waddles self consciously, bobbing its head as if pecking the air for some invisible food. A
squirrel churrs a threat to his brother, challenging him to romp.
The walkway before me never becomes silent. A buzz of voices blends with the city soundscape of
cars driving and trucks backing, swingsets squealing and sparrows chirping. A toddler, holding tightly
to his sister s stroller, yells Achtung! Achtung! Achtung! at a squirrel that crosses two inches from his
foot. His mother comforts him, in German. A man sits down on the bench across from me, eyelids
dropping on his creased red face as he stirs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I m going home today.
At home, the mountain overshadows our farm in the same way that the thirty story apartment building
a block north overshadows this park. They both recede as they rise, shadowed places standing out
against sunlit sides, seeming to hold themselves back from too much involvement with their
surroundings. This building stands behind a wall of brick rowhouses like the low hill of alfalfa fields
blocks a view of the lower reaches of the mountain.
The rowhouses potentially beautiful facade is marred by rusty air conditioner units and a high trim of
metalwork, corroded to a bright green, contrasting with the clean brick and the white window frames.
Trees obscure my vision slightly, holding onto their last few dirty brown leaves. A puff of air, cool
enough to make you shiver but too warm for a jacket, rustles them.
Strains of harmonica waft from the park bench opposite me. A street musician of sorts has opened for
business, a blue green flowerpot at his feet. His near empty bag is next to him on the bench,
surrounded by his array of harmonicas. A contented Labrador Retriever disinterestedly glances toward
him, not missing of beat of his lazy gait. Swing low, sweet chariot... The man plays each line of music,
then sings it. Coming for to carry me home...
Two benches to his left, a couple of students eat their lunch. One

Experiences Of My Experience
I want to share some of my experiences that my Dad and I have shared together. He has taught me that
I can overcome anything that comes my way. He has helped me to become truthful. These experiences
have shown me that lying gets you nowhere in life. Also has helped me to be on time and arrive at
least 20 or 30 minutes early. One of the other ones were that hard work pays off in the end because
without hard work we would not be as happy as we are now. One of the experiences was my Dad and
me riding our dirt bikes together .The trail my dad took me on that was probably the scariest was at
Kelly Canyon. I was 9 years old and had only been on a dirt bike a handful of times. I didn t know
how to ride very well. It was super hard for me to get up the hills but on this particular ride coming
down was even worse.. It had started to hail and rain really hard. The trail became really slick and
muddy. There was a huge cliff to my left and swear I thought I was going to die. I wrecked so many
times. Going over my handlebars once and laying my bike down several times. I thought we would
never get off that hill. In crazy times likes this it is best to just take a deep breath and know you have
what it takes to do it. As a result of that ride I learned to trust myself. The second experience was
when I lied to my Dad. I think age nine seemed to be my most troubled year. One day my brother and
I thought it would be fun to hit some rocks with tennis rackets out of the neighbor s rock

Definition Of Lingual Bilingualism
A lingual genocide is brewing within a nation which prides itself on being free of oppression. Lingual
activist have many different definitions for bilingualism. Martín Espada and Richard Rodriguez both
abandon the conventional sense of the word bilingualism, the ability to converse in multiple language.
In Espada s essay, The New Bathroom Policy at English High School , he extends bilingualism to
include the merging of cultures to sympathize and be immersed in a community. He believes that
education s role is to help ease the mixing of identities. In Rodriguez s book, Hunger of Memory, he
elaborates upon definition of bilingualism and creates his own distinction from Espada s
interpretation. He believes that bilingualism is the coexistence of two identities, a public one which
was English for him and a private one which was Spanish. He believes the iron fist enforcement of a
language is key to reaching the state of bilingualism. My definition of bilingualism is an extension
upon both Rodriguez and Espada. I believe bilingualism is the merging of multiple cultures but also
the preservation of each culture, this allows one to be a multicultural being able to be defined as
themselves rather than a culture.
To survive in America s cultural war, Latinos must realize that they have a right to their identity and
must refuse to be silenced. Espada emphasize that the lingual discrimination faced by Spanish
speakers in education and the judicial system is part of a larger scheme

The Salem Witch Trials Essay
By the end of the 17th century, one of the most devastating proceedings in American History took
place. The Salem witch trials was one of the most catastrophic events worldwide in which people were
accused, hanged, or sent to jail. During this time there was also a lot of chaos going on in Salem when
some girls started accusing innocent people of being witches and being responsible for all the trouble
that was going on the town. Even though not all those individuals were sentenced to death, there were
still three causes or theories of why the Salem witch trials might have occurred and caused all this
mess. Some of those reasons included that the girls could have been ergot poison, that they were bored
because of the type of lifestyle that they had to live in, and because there was a sort of rivalry
(jealousy) of land. After escaping from England because of religious persecution and settling in the
United States (Salem, Massachusetts), the worst part was about to begin. When the puritans were
settled in the new world, the theory that there could be witches was spread throughout the town. The
most accused were the women because supposedly they were more vulnerable than men. For instance,
the author declares, Ministers preached repeatedly about the inferiority of women, using the biblical
tale of Adam and Eve as evidence. Women according to the sermons, had inherited Eve s original sin
she was tempted to eat the forbidden fruit of knowledge and could not be

A Testimony Is A Personal Story Of God
A testimony is a personal story of what God has done in one s life, the story of one s conversion.
Many people have dramatic testimonies of God rescuing them from death and destruction. Others
have stories a little less dramatic; nevertheless they are life changing. We truly leave the kingdom of
darkness for the kingdom of light. C. S. Lewis puts it this way: It may be hard for an egg to turn into a
bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at
present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or
go bad. 1 My testimony is of the less dramatic variety. Still, God wooed me and waited for me. He
used my upbringing to bring me to a place of surrender to his Lordship in my life. I trust it will
encourage others to tell their stories of God s faithfulness. I grew up in a Catholic family and believed
the teachings of the Catholic Church insofar as they agreed with my reading of the Bible. As a
teenager, Jesus became real to me at summer camp; I was introduced to the Charismatic movement.
While at college God began calling me to Christian leadership, culminating in my engagement to
Kevin. I grew up in a Catholic home. From my earliest memories, I believed in God and knew He
existed. Every week we faithfully attended our local parish. There was no Sunday School so we sat
with our parents during mass. I remember my youngest sister, Jennifer, playing with my Dad s keys

Why Manager Is Responsible For Controlling Or...
Motivation.
Manager is a person who is responsible for controlling or administering all or part of a company or an
organization. He or she is responsible for controlling the activities, business dealings, tasks for the
employee and more. Being a manager is not an easy job. They have responsibilities like Staffing,
creating jobs; reviewing resumes and applications, interviewing new candidates, hiring, and firing.
They are responsible for communicating with employees to discuss about the company s mission and
goals and how the results are achieved. They will have to train new employees and be able to evaluate
the employee s progress. A manager s prime responsibility is to the success of the company. His
actions should all be poised toward business growth. Companies hire managers to run daily
operations, coach employees, maintain quality control and ensure that its products and services are
fulfilling customer needs. Managers must constantly review the company s financial, budgetary and
production goals. In between all these responsibilities, managers do often have difficulty in motivating
employees. This has been increased a lot in recent times compared to the 50 years ago. Some of the
common challenges that managers face in motivating employees are workforce diversity,
organizational restructuring, Dealing with entry level employees.
The workforce diversity is getting challenging to managers compared to 50 years ago. The

Hammurabi s Family Law
Hammurabi s Code was JUST
Nearly 4000 years ago, a man named Hammurabi became King of Babylon. He ruled for 42 years.
During that time, he became the ruler of much of Mesopotamia, which had an estimated population of
1,000,000 people. Hammurabi was no normal King, in his 38th year he made a set of 282 laws which
he called a code, this code was the most complete set of laws any ruler of Mesopotamia had ever
made. He had engraved these laws onto a stele. A stele is a clay tablet that has been written into by a
sharpened reed. This writing form was called cuneiform. He created this code to bring order and
fairness to all. There has been a debate over the years about whether his code is just or not. In my
opinion, Hammurabi s code was just because of its family law, its property law, and its personal injury
law. Hammurabi s code was just becuase of it s family law. One reason is because there is proof that
the Shamash, the god of Justice gave him these laws. When archeologist first discovered the stele in
which the code was written upon, they found that there was a carving at the top that was a picture of
Shamash on his throne, feeding Hammurabi his ancient laws. Another reason is that Hammurabi
himself said that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shamash, the God of Justice also gave him these laws just as he did with the others. Hammurabi also
had the same aim for these laws, for them to be fair to all. An example of him doing this is in

man. This law is an example of fairness, you should have to pay for what you take. Another example
is also in document E, this law is law 215. Law 215 states that a surgeon will be payed 10 shekels of
silver if that surgeon has saved another free man s life by operating with a bronze lancet. This is a

The Assessment Process Of The Early Childhood Classroom
Module 1 Assessments Explain the Assessment process as used in the early childhood classroom The
assessment process in the classroom can be completed in several different ways, but they are effective
in helping children. Some steps may include observations, testing, and evaluations. These assessments
can help the caregivers provide the children with the best care possible and available for them. These
observations and test may be completed from several sources and situations to ensure the test are
accurate. Compare and contrast traditional assessment and authentic assessment giving several
examples of each. When talking about traditional assessment and authentic assessment there are ways
they can be expressed as being different. Authentic assessment is ongoing and applies to all areas in
the school or childcare setting. These are practical and express intellectual challenges. This can be
completed by matching games, puzzles, and identifying objects. Caregivers and teachers must observe
and keep track of the child s progress to ensure they are meeting their goals. This is another task a
teacher must perform on top of teaching. Traditional assessment emphasizes uniform and rote testing.
In traditional settings the child s behavior is looked at in group settings not just a one on one forum.
Things are looked at from a group stand point for examples are the children sharing, interacting with
others, and feeling like they belong in a group and not just one individual.

Peer-Tutoring Analysis
Peer tutoring is a collaborative activity that allows the exchange of knowledge to occur outside of a
classroom setting. As a peer tutor, I do my best to establish a safe space where students can share their
writing insecurities and self develop as writers. During my sessions, I focus on establishing a
comfortable work environment to encourage meaningful dialogue and allow tutees to articulate their
writing needs. By establishing a welcoming work environment, I can engage in meaningful discussion
with tutees and familiarize myself with their writing so I can effectively implement a tutoring
approach that suits their needs as writers. My tutoring philosophy mainly focuses on gaining
familiarity with the tutees writing and personality through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As writing tutors, we are instructed to promote the self development of tutees by implementing an
indirective tutoring approach (Brooks 4). One strategy an indirective tutoring approach utilizes is
implementing open ended questions to allow the tutee to participate and verbally engage during
sessions. One goal I have while implementing open ended questions is promoting meaningful dialogue
and consciousness learning through problem posing education. Paulo Freire discusses in the second
chapter of Pedagogy of the Oppressed how problem posing education can promote consciousness and
communication. He states, Problem posing education, responding to the essence of consciousness
intentionally rejects communiques and embodies communication (Freire 76). During my tutoring
sessions, I resist from providing tutees with direct remedies for their writing problems and instead
pose questions that allows them independently to address their writing problems. By utilizing problem
posing education, I can promote the self development of my tutees as writers and promote meaningful
discussion. For example, during session I ask tutees open ended question such as Why does that
matter? and What s your reasoning behind that? to allow them to realize that certain sections of their
essay are lacking analysis. I pose open ended question to allow the tutee to critically think instead of
directly stating, This section is missing analysis. Jeff Brooks discusses how to implement open ended
questions effectively during tutoring sessions in her article, Minimalist tutoring: Making the Students
Do All the Work. Brooks explains, When something is unclear, don t say, This is unclear ; rather, say,
What do you mean? (Brooks 4). By allowing the tutee to respond to open ended question, meaningful
dialogue can be exchanged and they can

Analyzing Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour

The Story to The Story The short story, The Story of an Hour, illustrates the apparent bondage of 19th
century marriage. Using setting, symbolism, and dialogue, Kate Chopin skillfully weaves her
argument of a wife s enslavement through the captivating tale of Louise Mallard. Chopin s is a very
emotional story that powerfully depicts the fate of females during her time. (clear and engaging

Louise Mallard and many women of her time. The entire plot unfolds in just a foyer, a staircase, and a

Indications of Louise s affliction are woven throughout the story; in fact, the very first thing we know
is that Mrs. Mallard was afflicted with a heart trouble. (Yes, she sets up the ironic ending right at the
beginning) This is probably a very real physical weakness, but I believe it also represents the sadness,
heaviness, and confusion of her heart; she does appear to love her husband, but at the same time, she
hates the bondage that marriage brings. When Louise contemplates her newfound freedom, we read
that Her pulses beat fast, and the coursing blood warmed and relaxed every inch of her body. When
her sister warned Louise not to make herself sick, Louise responded that she was drinking in a very
elixir of life through that open window. In each of these instances, freedom is the cure for her heart s
malady. When, in the end, this life giving freedom is torn from her, Louise actually dies of heart
disease. Though the doctors declared she died from the joy that kills, I believe that she died from
being denied that joy.

For example in the book in chapter 49 he mentions about how his friend Mark managed to complete
his huge office work in a single day to receive his awaited reward. Grylls said that if everyone works
at their highest level they could charge down many goals in less time and they could start enjoying
their desired life after accomplishing their goals (Grylls 188). That example was really motivating to
the reader and causes the reader to work at his highest level. He also explains the effectiveness of
working at highest level. Grylls s suggestions in the book are realistic and effective. Grylls s
suggestions are realistic because he discuss about his own personal experiences to support his ideas,
for example in chapter nine he mentions about when he got selected for SAS. His commander said
that in fact, but what makes our work here special is your ability to give that little bit extra when most
simply give up (Grylls 46). That was his own personal life example which makes his ideas realistic.
His suggestions are effective because his personal life experiences and their results show the
effectiveness. In this chapter 43 Grylls changes the vocabulary like weekend to strong end or alarm
clock to opportunity clock because he claims that changing vocabulary changes the way the brain

Looking Up At The Grey Sky
Looking up at the grey night sky, John Jhonerston grimly pondered about existence as he shuffled
down barren boulevard. With the acknowledgement of being constantly monitored by the secret
police, John awkwardly put one foot in front the other; the small trip to the grocery store starting to
feel like eternity. Ever since the new totalitarian government had been established after the civil war,
ever since the loss of John s family, life has been a living hell. A pointless, monotonous, depressing,
existence. A pain that John has had to endure for countless years. Its was late night, and very few
people were outside. The street was quiet and peaceful. It was a nice break from the daily sight of
people being put down by firing squad in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Humanity just barely survived without natural light by growing plants in indoor farms with artificial
light. Snow was falling again, and John had to get to the grocery store quickly. Trying to cover his
face, he walked at a steadfast pace, while simultaneously trying to cover up all of his body in hopes
that nothing but garments are burned. John finally arrived at the grocery store after a couple of
minutes of enduring the strong wind and acidic snow. After stepping in, he smelled of burnt leather
and wool. John proceeded to check himself in a two way mirror usually used for shake downs and
inspections, and he noticed that the outer layer of the back of his leather trench jacket was discolored
from the acidic snow. He immediately saw some more snowflakes resting on his shoulders, slowly
eating away at the leather; John wiped the snow off and consequently received slight burns to his
hand. After enduring a stinging pain, John finally started shopping. The immense array of cameras is
quite frightening to see at first. It took John some time getting used to it. Feeling like someone in a
government room was staring icy daggers into your back is very discomforting. Starting in the
produce section, John was searching for the fruits and vegetables that he required on a daily basis.
John casually yet simultaneously warily strolled down the aisles, picking up the fruits and vegetables

Analysis Of Woolf A Room Of One s Own By Virginia Woolf
1.It is significant that Woolf s essay is partly fictional, for it shows her greater knowledge of her
writing, as she was a woman herself writing fiction. She does not write completely in non fictional
mode, as to not stay biased to her views and experiences, yet to allow the readers to have an open
imagination on where the events that had happened at Oxbridge could also take place.
2. The original occasion of a A Room Of One s Own was to describe Women and what they are like; ...
women and the fiction that they write; or women and the fiction that is written about them.(Woolf, 3).
Woolf addresses women as her audience, and follows to a great extent the advices she intend them to
follow.
3.Woolf characterize Oxbridge as a material place and in terms of its traditions and conventions, by
displaying their unbendable traditions that are kept very strict to their student. In the narrating, the 300
tradition that a women should not be walking on turf was shown as an example of how important it
was to follow Oxbridge traditions. The connections between Oxbridge and British life and institutions
beyond the universities, Were the patriarchal ruling system behind them all. In all, men had more
privilege, and looked down on women.
4.Oxbridge embedded the effect that a women should always depend on a man on Woolf s semi
autobiographical character Mary Beton. As it was shown that every place she went on Oxbridge, she
was reminded that women should not do some things

Human Alienation and Computational Ecopoetics Essay
Computational Ecopoetics project is centred on human alienation from nature as an underlying
contemporary cultural framework and uses the capacity of the poetic bringing forth to restore us to the
earth and land as our home. Restoring us to the earth is the project of ecopoetics as phenomenological
rather than political frame that constitutes the most direct return to the place of dwelling. The question
is in what respects a poetic computation may be a making (poiesis) of the dwelling place (eco Greek
oikos, the home or place of dwelling).
Heidegger s notion of technology as a mode of revealing, enframing, enables the possibility for the
truth to be revealed through technology, poetically. The understanding of technology as a mode of ...

The technological fix to environmental problems leads to sustainability that frames earth as a
recyclable, renewable, and, ultimately, replaceable resource. Fixing the problem in the sense of
conserving, regenerating, and nourishing the resource base of capitalism. It is no longer an issue of
how to convince people to accept and promote sustainability, but of whether we can and how to
overcome the alienation and reification from nature that had emerged with capitalism,
industrialization, and urbanization? It is critical to consider whether we can ever approach Nature in
an non ideological way or are all attempts to capture Nature, theoretically, poetically or narratively,
nothing more than our own appropriation of it? techné (art/artifice) is opposed to physis (nature), most
fundamentally in terms of causality. The opposition between physis and techné has generated the
traditional divisions we have in Western philosophy among nature and culture. In Heidegger s text,
Being and Time, the concept of being in the world places primary emphasis on equipment rather than
physiology. The understanding of world as a network of interdependent relations at a variety of levels,
conceptualized in human terms, limits our ability to comprehend natural earthliness. All that we will
ever be able to say, or think or experience of supposedly natural phenomena is necessarily situated
within the world. (Heidegger) Heidegger retains a sense of

Carlo Scarpa s Approach And Theory
INTRODUCTION AND BUILDING HISTORY
Carlo Scarpa s approach and theory to designing with existing buildings is an innovation that is
relevant to buildings even today. The Castelvecchio museum is one of his greatest projects, and
thoroughly reveals his way of working. Scarpas intention was not only to restore an aging building but
to do so in a way that creates dialogue between the new and the old. By careful work of demolition
and preservation, he literally cuts, shifts and adds elements to the existing building in order to create
an exhibition of the building s past, and its connection to modernity.
In order for him to make informed decisions about what to preserve and what to demolish, he had to
have a thorough understanding of the building s political history. The Castelvecchio dates back as far
as the 12th century, and has undergone four eras of development in its lifetime. The commune wall is
the oldest element in the building and was the second of three large fortifications in Verona (Fig 1.1).
In 1354, the Castelvecchio was built by the Scaligeri family, the Lords of Verona, and was built for
their own defense against the citizens for times of revolt. It was built either side of the commune wall,
and consisted of a three story residence or Reggia around an inner court and an outer military zone
(Fig 1.2). The Castelvecchio continued this military function until 1797, where Napoleon and his
troops claimed residence during his invasion over the Venetian Republic. This

Effects Of The Berlin Airlift
The Berlin Airlift and its Strategic Effects
Despite its beginnings as a logistical nightmare for the aircrews and aviators, the Berlin Airlift was
extremely effective in the role of containing the spread of communism into Berlin, while ensuring the
survival of capitalism for millions of its citizens.
After the conclusion of World War II, the city of Berlin was divided into two major sections: East and
West Berlin. The western section was divided between the three allies and under the control of Britain,
the United States, and France, while the eastern portion was under the Soviet s control. The portion of
Berlin owned by the western powers had become a small hold on capitalism in a sea of Marxist
communism. On 24 June 1948, the Soviet Union cut off all ground routes into the western portion of
Berlin. This would leave approximately 2.5 million Berlin citizens without the United States supplies
they had been receiving. It would also leave the roughly 6,500 western troops without ground level
support, surrounded by 16,000 soviets (Owens 70).
The United States had only a few options and they were not looking great. They could attempt to
resolve this diplomatically, but that could take more time than was available. A military pullout from
Berlin could lead to discredit the United States and leave Berlin to fall completely under Soviet
control (Owens 70). The United States military governor of Berlin at the time was General Lucas
Clay. General Clay was told that going by

Androgen Deprivation Therapy
The key role of testosterone in the growth of prostate cancer was first demonstrated back in 1941
(Huggins, 1941); since then, androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) has provided the mainstay of
treatment for patients with hormone sensitive advanced prostate cancer. Although ADT is palliative, it
can normalize serum levels of prostate specific antigen (PSA) in over 90% of patients and can produce
objective tumour responses in 80 90%. This antitumor activity can improve quality of life (QOL) by
reducing bone pain as well as the rates of complications (eg, pathologic fracture, spinal cord
compression, ureteral obstruction). The duration of response to ADT for patients with metastatic
disease is highly variable, and most prostate cancer patients eventually ... Show more content on

These agents bind to the GnRH receptor and initially trigger the secretion of LH, which in turn causes
a surge in testosterone production lasting 1 to 2 weeks (Sasagawa, 1998; Tomera, 2001). This may
stimulate prostate cancer cells, and in patients with advanced disease, exacerbate clinical symptoms
such as skeletal pain, ureteral obstruction and spinal cord compression, which may lead to paralysis
and, in rare cases, death (Thompson, 1990; Van Poppel, 2008a). The clinical effects of this flare can be
limited by concomitant anti androgen treatment (eg, flutamide or bicalutamide) (Perlmutter, 2009) to
produce a combined androgen blockade. However, this strategy is not always effective and also
associated with side effects. Chronic administration of GnRH receptor agonists eventually leads to
suppression of LH, which results in a reduction of testosterone release (van Poppel, 2010).
The flare phenomenon associated with GnRH agonists helped to drive the search for alternative
agents. Consequently, the new millennium saw the development of GnRH antagonists. These agents
bind directly to and block GnRH receptors, without causing the initial testosterone surge and flare
associated with agonists (Van Poppel, 2008a). Abarelix was the first GnRH antagonist to be licensed
for prostate cancer treatment; however, this agent was associated with immediate onset systemic
allergic reactions resulting from histamine release and in 2005 was voluntarily withdrawn from US
market (Huhtaniemi,

Analysis Of Francois Hutteau s Great Search For Liberty
Francois Hutteau s great search for Liberty
Hello my French brothers and sisters! Dark times have befallen our precious land, and pure chaos has
ensued. I write to the people in France in hopes of establishing a new land. A land that can be looked
upon proudly with eyes of great virtue. In order to achieve our wildest dreams we must sort through
the rubbish that has landed us here in the first place. How will we as a society react to the many things
that have been dealt to the people of France? Perhaps our great fight ends in bloodshed, and broken
promises. Or perhaps we could take heed of the laws and policies our fellow Europeans across the
Sea. I had the pleasure of visiting one of the cities in America that the citizens take so much pride in:
Boston, Massachusetts. A port town on the North Eastern coast that was a large part of the American
Revolution. It was also home to the Notorious Boston Massacre. There are a number of things that I
enjoyed about my trip, but pointing out the differences between Boston and France had to be the most
delectable part of my trip. The way in which they practice religion is something to behold. Their new
Constitution is also no laughing matter, and lastly the many things Americans find fun is mesmerizing,
and also repulsive. America is a tremendous place and I cannot wait to guide you through my journey
and inferences.
The first voyage I made when I got off the boat was directly towards a church. I decided to visit the
Old North Church and as I approached I noticed that the brick work seemed to glisten in the sun, and
the white interior reminded me of how pure the world can really be. The church practiced
Protestantism, and started soon after the War.[1] I admired the way in which the citizens praised God,
but I did happen to notice that their practices were rather different from my own. After talking to some
of the Americans most had either commented on my accent or expressed their condolences to the
revolution. I also asked them about how they worship and how they choose to worship. Many of these
American citizens were free to choose what they wanted to worship. Most did say that they would be
judged for their religious decisions, but were never forced into doing

Synthetic Vs. Natural Polymers
Synthetic vs Natural Polymers in Conditioning Shampoos
Introduction and Thesis
Cosmetics have been used for thousands of years to enhance the visual appearance of people, either
through ritualistic or aesthetic motivations. With the turn of the 20th Century, the growing trend of the
film industry caused an uprising in the commercialism of cosmetic products. This coincided with the
increasing development in the chemistry industry, to accommodate the multi billion dollar industry
which is present today. Previously, cosmetics were extracted out of natural resources such as minerals
and natural plants, however it became necessary to synthetically produce some components included
in cosmetics to accommodate the major increase in product demand (Polymer Solutions, 2014).
Polymers are the second largest class of ingredients in the cosmetic industry (Lochhead, 2016).
Polymers are molecules made up of a large number of low molecular mass units, or monomers, that
are covalently bonded together (Cosmeticsandtoiletries.com, 2016; Gruber, 2016). The combination of
monomers in a chain determines the structure, performance and physical properties of each polymer.
The backbone of a polymer includes repeating monomers; if there is only one repeating monomer than
it is a homopolymer; if there is more than one repeating monomer then this forms a copolymer, which
can either be linear or branched depending on the side groups attached (Cosmeticsandtoiletries.com,
2016; Draelos, 2016).

CAUSES OF CHILD LABOUR
For much of human history and across different cultures, children less than 17 years old have

Many communities, particularly rural areas do not possess adequate school facilities. Even when
schools are sometimes available, they are too far away, difficult to reach, unaffordable or the quality of
education is so poor that parents wonder if going to school is really worth it. In government run
primary schools, even when children show up, government paid teachers do not show up 25% of the
time. The 2008 ILO study suggests that illiteracy resulting from a child going to work, rather than a
quality primary and secondary school, limits the child s ability to get a basic educational grounding
which would in normal situations enable them to acquire skills and to improve their prospects for a
decent adult working life. An older report published by UNICEF outlines the issues summarized by
the ILO report. The UNICEF report claimed that while 90% of child labour in India is in its rural
areas, the availability and quality of schools is decrepit; in rural areas of India, claims the old UNICEF
report, about 50% of government funded primary schools that exist do not have a building, 40% lack a

Aristotle s Four Criterion Of Eudaimonia
: Aristotle describes eudaimonia as the short way of reaching a final end. He believes that it is not a
guarantee that one reaches eudaimonia even if he/she is a virtuous person. Arete plays a vital role in
Aristotle s explanation because in the Nicomachean Ethics he claims that eudaimonia is an end result
of actively exhibiting virtue in accordance with reason. He goes on to argue that one must be fully
engaged in their work and be obtaining excellence in order for happiness to be present. There are four
criterion of eudaimonia: durability, you must be able to take a punch because we cannot lose you
easily; finality, it must be an ends to a final end, it cannot be a step towards another means; self
sufficiency, if you have this, you would not be in search for more; and function, it must be an
expression on humans doing what we ought to do. He believes that virtue is necessary but not
sufficient for eudaimonia. Along with virtue, he makes sure to mention the importance of other goods
that contribute to a eudaimonic life. Some of the goods he mentions are friends, money and power ...

of eudaimonia does in fact rely quite heavily on external forces and is not completely controllable. If
one is ugly, they still might still be refused a eudaimonic life even if they are a virtuous and a morally
correct person. It is important to realize that external goods cannot lead to a life of happiness on their

Consumer Boycotts
Question 1: Naomi Klein, among others, is a big advocate of consumer boycotts as a means of
ensuring ethical labor conditions in the supply chains of major brands. Describe the logic by which
consumer boycotts are supposed to work.
The logic behind boycotts is to get a company or an establishment to change something about the way
they do business. For example in this article clothing brands where at the center of boycotts to end the
working conditions that where in the sweatshops that made their products. Boycotts work because it
hits a business right where it hurts, their wallets. People boycotting a company for doing something
that they see as an ethical issue will result in them not buying or using their products or services. They
will also tell their friends not to buy or use their products as well. So the company either has to live
with the reduced sales from the boycott or change they way they produce their product. The more
people that join in on a boycotts the more a boycott will be successful. An example of a boycott is
when people said they would not shop on Black Friday because they did not like the fact that these

In fact, it is said that when Guy failed to attack the Muslims in 1183, Baldwin went into a fit of anger
because he wanted them all dead. The movie makes it seem as though Baldwin wanted to keep peace
between the two groups but that was not true because really, he could not stand the Muslims and
would do almost anything to keep the Holy Land out of their hands.
When it comes to Saladin, the film makes it seem as though he was a man of tolerance and respect
when in reality, he took pleasure in watching the decapitation of hundreds of christen soldiers and
civilians alike. Through out his time as ruler of the Muslims, Saladin Preached jihad(or holy war) on
the Christians and made it very clear that his goal was to take Jerusalem by force and kill all of the
people living behind the walls and on the surrounding lands. Saladin as he is portrayed in the film is a
man who chooses to work together with the Christians to try to find a reasonable balance between
groups and holds them in high regard to himself.6 This is very far from any kind of truth at all.
I believe that this was such a big deal for groups when the movie came out because the film made it
seem as though both men wanted a somewhat peaceful solution to obtaining what they desired when
in fact, that was the last thing they wanted. Both men were very respectable from what I can tell, but

Becoming An Athletic Trainer Essay
Becoming an athletic trainer has always been a dream of mine since picking up lacrosse in high

high school has always stuck out to me. After doing research on the salary, schooling, certifications

Starting with the topic of salary. The salary varies with the level of education and years of experience.
For example, in May of 2015, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has said that the median salary was

  • 2. My Vision Is Turning Out At Michigan State University My vision is turning out to be twofold because it concentrates in achieving an advanced degree from Michigan State University. At this time, I am not sure what degree I will end up getting. At one point it I was dead set on a law degree, but time and experience have taught me that I have not found exactly what I am passionate about, but I do believe that I will find it with time. I do know that I regret missing out on a traditional college experience and am now working toward pursuing an advanced degree in the most traditional way possible. This means that I do not want to work during the degree so that I can participate in graduate campus life and sports events. Until recently, I never really wanted to go to college and maybe that is why I never really fell in love a particular school and waited so long to get my undergrad. Now, I have fallen in love with Michigan State over the years and truly want to experience everything that the school has to offer. It is important to me to make the school my Alma matter. Additionally, the pursuit of knowledge and achieving a post graduate degree has become incredibly important to me. It is my current dream to become a master in a vocation that I am passionate about and that fulfills me. This is why I have made the decision to wait on school at this time. Originally, I had wanted and hoped that my graduate degree would lead me to my passion, but I now know and understand that for me the right choice is to try and find my passion ... • 3. Essay On Why I Want To Be A Doctor Mr. Flueckiger? exclaimed Mr. Freeborn. He had been the monotone teacher of my freshman biology class and then my AP Biology class after that. I woke with a start. His lecture on genetics had been a perfect melody for my post lunch nap. Yes? I responded. The anxiety of fighting dragons in dream was nothing compared to this. I asked, What is the probability that two parents, who are both carriers for Phenylketonuria, have two children both afflicted with the disease? I spent the entire night before reading ahead in my AP Biology book, finishing the chapter on genetics. Obnoxiously, I retorted, If both parents are carriers, the probability one child will have the disease is one in four. To have two children, both afflicted with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As an intern, I collaborate with the thirty nine operations run by Purdue Dining Catering (PD C). The most ambitious project I have planned and executed was PD C s orientation program, Jumpstart. Jumpstart is a program I have both participated and mentored in during my time at Purdue. The summer between my sophomore and junior year I had the opportunity to plan this event involving over 100 employees. This event allowed me the opportunity to leave my comfort zone and strengthen my time management and planning skills. It also presented me with more hands on leadership experience while running the program logistics. A physician interacts with people of many skill sets, backgrounds, ethnicities, and levels of education. His or her ability to communicate effectively and work in a team are defining factors of his or her success. I have had the opportunity to work with many different individuals through my roles as an undergraduate teaching assistant (TA), a Student Supervisor for PD C, and in research. The different modes of communication and teamwork that each required taught me valuable skills that translate directly to the medical field. As a TA, I could not only do something I loved, teach, but also learn about communication in an educational environment. I learned how to communicate material in a way that effectively reached students with different educational requirements. As a Student Supervisor, I worked with students from all over ... • 4. A Comparison Of Mein Kampf And White Man s Burden Throughout both Adolf Hitler s political manifesto Mein Kampf and Rudyard Kipling s political poem, White Man s Burden, they both have a few similarities and differences. In addition, these similarities and differences might occur because of the context these individuals are writing. Mein Kampf was completed in 1925 when he was awaiting in a jail cell. During this time, World War I had just ended and the rise the fascism (an ideology that exalts the nation above the individual and calls for a centralized government with a dictatorial leader, economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition) was coming forth in Italy s government. And at the same time, the government in Germany was crumbling, and even before the German economy was a disaster. This was created to help influence the Nazi Party and the intended audience being the Aryan race. Throughout his manifesto he discusses his childhood and how he was most certainly born to be a leader and a great leader at that. In the scheme of things, he portrays the fast that Aryans are the good and trusted people and Jews cannot on the other hand be trusted at all. And on the harsher side says that Jews should fall off the face of the earth. On the other hand, White Man s Burden is a political poem and was created in 1899, around the same time as Hilter s manifesto. During this time it was the end of the Spanish American war. Industrial Revolution was going on and also colonization was occurring by most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on Observations at the Park Observations at the Park A cigarette butt lies next to my foot, still emitting a trace of smoke. Nearby on the dusty asphalt a pigeon waddles self consciously, bobbing its head as if pecking the air for some invisible food. A squirrel churrs a threat to his brother, challenging him to romp. The walkway before me never becomes silent. A buzz of voices blends with the city soundscape of cars driving and trucks backing, swingsets squealing and sparrows chirping. A toddler, holding tightly to his sister s stroller, yells Achtung! Achtung! Achtung! at a squirrel that crosses two inches from his foot. His mother comforts him, in German. A man sits down on the bench across from me, eyelids dropping on his creased red face as he stirs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I m going home today. At home, the mountain overshadows our farm in the same way that the thirty story apartment building a block north overshadows this park. They both recede as they rise, shadowed places standing out against sunlit sides, seeming to hold themselves back from too much involvement with their surroundings. This building stands behind a wall of brick rowhouses like the low hill of alfalfa fields blocks a view of the lower reaches of the mountain. The rowhouses potentially beautiful facade is marred by rusty air conditioner units and a high trim of metalwork, corroded to a bright green, contrasting with the clean brick and the white window frames. Trees obscure my vision slightly, holding onto their last few dirty brown leaves. A puff of air, cool enough to make you shiver but too warm for a jacket, rustles them. Strains of harmonica waft from the park bench opposite me. A street musician of sorts has opened for business, a blue green flowerpot at his feet. His near empty bag is next to him on the bench, surrounded by his array of harmonicas. A contented Labrador Retriever disinterestedly glances toward him, not missing of beat of his lazy gait. Swing low, sweet chariot... The man plays each line of music, then sings it. Coming for to carry me home... Two benches to his left, a couple of students eat their lunch. One ... • 6. Experiences Of My Experience I want to share some of my experiences that my Dad and I have shared together. He has taught me that I can overcome anything that comes my way. He has helped me to become truthful. These experiences have shown me that lying gets you nowhere in life. Also has helped me to be on time and arrive at least 20 or 30 minutes early. One of the other ones were that hard work pays off in the end because without hard work we would not be as happy as we are now. One of the experiences was my Dad and me riding our dirt bikes together .The trail my dad took me on that was probably the scariest was at Kelly Canyon. I was 9 years old and had only been on a dirt bike a handful of times. I didn t know how to ride very well. It was super hard for me to get up the hills but on this particular ride coming down was even worse.. It had started to hail and rain really hard. The trail became really slick and muddy. There was a huge cliff to my left and swear I thought I was going to die. I wrecked so many times. Going over my handlebars once and laying my bike down several times. I thought we would never get off that hill. In crazy times likes this it is best to just take a deep breath and know you have what it takes to do it. As a result of that ride I learned to trust myself. The second experience was when I lied to my Dad. I think age nine seemed to be my most troubled year. One day my brother and I thought it would be fun to hit some rocks with tennis rackets out of the neighbor s rock ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Definition Of Lingual Bilingualism A lingual genocide is brewing within a nation which prides itself on being free of oppression. Lingual activist have many different definitions for bilingualism. Martín Espada and Richard Rodriguez both abandon the conventional sense of the word bilingualism, the ability to converse in multiple language. In Espada s essay, The New Bathroom Policy at English High School , he extends bilingualism to include the merging of cultures to sympathize and be immersed in a community. He believes that education s role is to help ease the mixing of identities. In Rodriguez s book, Hunger of Memory, he elaborates upon definition of bilingualism and creates his own distinction from Espada s interpretation. He believes that bilingualism is the coexistence of two identities, a public one which was English for him and a private one which was Spanish. He believes the iron fist enforcement of a language is key to reaching the state of bilingualism. My definition of bilingualism is an extension upon both Rodriguez and Espada. I believe bilingualism is the merging of multiple cultures but also the preservation of each culture, this allows one to be a multicultural being able to be defined as themselves rather than a culture. To survive in America s cultural war, Latinos must realize that they have a right to their identity and must refuse to be silenced. • 9. The Salem Witch Trials Essay By the end of the 17th century, one of the most devastating proceedings in American History took place. The Salem witch trials was one of the most catastrophic events worldwide in which people were accused, hanged, or sent to jail. During this time there was also a lot of chaos going on in Salem when some girls started accusing innocent people of being witches and being responsible for all the trouble that was going on the town. Even though not all those individuals were sentenced to death, there were still three causes or theories of why the Salem witch trials might have occurred and caused all this mess. Some of those reasons included that the girls could have been ergot poison, that they were bored because of the type of lifestyle that they had to live in, and because there was a sort of rivalry (jealousy) of land. After escaping from England because of religious persecution and settling in the United States (Salem, Massachusetts), the worst part was about to begin. When the puritans were settled in the new world, the theory that there could be witches was spread throughout the town. The most accused were the women because supposedly they were more vulnerable than men. For instance, the author declares, Ministers preached repeatedly about the inferiority of women, using the biblical tale of Adam and Eve as evidence. Women according to the sermons, had inherited Eve s original sin she was tempted to eat the forbidden fruit of knowledge and could not be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. A Testimony Is A Personal Story Of God A testimony is a personal story of what God has done in one s life, the story of one s conversion. Many people have dramatic testimonies of God rescuing them from death and destruction. Others have stories a little less dramatic; nevertheless they are life changing. We truly leave the kingdom of darkness for the kingdom of light. C. S. Lewis puts it this way: It may be hard for an egg to turn into a bird: it would be a jolly sight harder for it to learn to fly while remaining an egg. We are like eggs at present. And you cannot go on indefinitely being just an ordinary, decent egg. We must be hatched or go bad. 1 My testimony is of the less dramatic variety. Still, God wooed me and waited for me. He used my upbringing to bring me to a place of surrender to his Lordship in my life. I trust it will encourage others to tell their stories of God s faithfulness. I grew up in a Catholic family and believed the teachings of the Catholic Church insofar as they agreed with my reading of the Bible. As a teenager, Jesus became real to me at summer camp; I was introduced to the Charismatic movement. While at college God began calling me to Christian leadership, culminating in my engagement to Kevin. I grew up in a Catholic home. From my earliest memories, I believed in God and knew He existed. During that time, he became the ruler of much of Mesopotamia, which had an estimated population of 1,000,000 people. Hammurabi was no normal King, in his 38th year he made a set of 282 laws which he called a code, this code was the most complete set of laws any ruler of Mesopotamia had ever made. He had engraved these laws onto a stele. A stele is a clay tablet that has been written into by a sharpened reed. This writing form was called cuneiform. He created this code to bring order and fairness to all. There has been a debate over the years about whether his code is just or not. In my opinion, Hammurabi s code was just because of its family law, its property law, and its personal injury law. Hammurabi s code was just becuase of it s family law. One reason is because there is proof that the Shamash, the god of Justice gave him these laws. When archeologist first discovered the stele in which the code was written upon, they found that there was a carving at the top that was a picture of Shamash on his throne, feeding Hammurabi his ancient laws. Some steps may include observations, testing, and evaluations. These assessments can help the caregivers provide the children with the best care possible and available for them. These observations and test may be completed from several sources and situations to ensure the test are accurate. Compare and contrast traditional assessment and authentic assessment giving several examples of each. When talking about traditional assessment and authentic assessment there are ways they can be expressed as being different. Authentic assessment is ongoing and applies to all areas in the school or childcare setting. These are practical and express intellectual challenges. This can be completed by matching games, puzzles, and identifying objects. Caregivers and teachers must observe and keep track of the child s progress to ensure they are meeting their goals. This is another task a teacher must perform on top of teaching. Traditional assessment emphasizes uniform and rote testing. In traditional settings the child s behavior is looked at in group settings not just a one on one forum. As writing tutors, we are instructed to promote the self development of tutees by implementing an indirective tutoring approach (Brooks 4). One strategy an indirective tutoring approach utilizes is implementing open ended questions to allow the tutee to participate and verbally engage during sessions. One goal I have while implementing open ended questions is promoting meaningful dialogue and consciousness learning through problem posing education. Paulo Freire discusses in the second chapter of Pedagogy of the Oppressed how problem posing education can promote consciousness and communication. He states, Problem posing education, responding to the essence of consciousness intentionally rejects communiques and embodies communication (Freire 76). During my tutoring sessions, I resist from providing tutees with direct remedies for their writing problems and instead pose questions that allows them independently to address their writing problems. By utilizing problem posing education, I can promote the self development of my tutees as writers and promote meaningful discussion. For example, during session I ask tutees open ended question such as Why does that matter? and What s your reasoning behind that? to allow them to realize that certain sections of their essay are lacking analysis. I pose open ended question to allow the tutee to critically think instead of directly stating, This section is missing analysis. Jeff Brooks discusses how to implement open ended questions effectively during tutoring sessions in her article, Minimalist tutoring: Making the Students Do All the Work. • 24. Carlo Scarpa s Approach And Theory INTRODUCTION AND BUILDING HISTORY Carlo Scarpa s approach and theory to designing with existing buildings is an innovation that is relevant to buildings even today. The Castelvecchio museum is one of his greatest projects, and thoroughly reveals his way of working. Scarpas intention was not only to restore an aging building but to do so in a way that creates dialogue between the new and the old. By careful work of demolition and preservation, he literally cuts, shifts and adds elements to the existing building in order to create an exhibition of the building s past, and its connection to modernity. In order for him to make informed decisions about what to preserve and what to demolish, he had to have a thorough understanding of the building s political history. The Castelvecchio dates back as far as the 12th century, and has undergone four eras of development in its lifetime. The commune wall is the oldest element in the building and was the second of three large fortifications in Verona (Fig 1.1). In 1354, the Castelvecchio was built by the Scaligeri family, the Lords of Verona, and was built for their own defense against the citizens for times of revolt. It was built either side of the commune wall, and consisted of a three story residence or Reggia around an inner court and an outer military zone (Fig 1.2). Effects Of The Berlin Airlift The Berlin Airlift and its Strategic Effects Despite its beginnings as a logistical nightmare for the aircrews and aviators, the Berlin Airlift was extremely effective in the role of containing the spread of communism into Berlin, while ensuring the survival of capitalism for millions of its citizens. After the conclusion of World War II, the city of Berlin was divided into two major sections: East and West Berlin. The western section was divided between the three allies and under the control of Britain, the United States, and France, while the eastern portion was under the Soviet s control. The portion of Berlin owned by the western powers had become a small hold on capitalism in a sea of Marxist communism. On 24 June 1948, the Soviet Union cut off all ground routes into the western portion of Berlin. This would leave approximately 2.5 million Berlin citizens without the United States supplies they had been receiving. It would also leave the roughly 6,500 western troops without ground level support, surrounded by 16,000 soviets (Owens 70). The United States had only a few options and they were not looking great. They could attempt to resolve this diplomatically, but that could take more time than was available. The clinical effects of this flare can be limited by concomitant anti androgen treatment (eg, flutamide or bicalutamide) (Perlmutter, 2009) to produce a combined androgen blockade. However, this strategy is not always effective and also associated with side effects. Chronic administration of GnRH receptor agonists eventually leads to suppression of LH, which results in a reduction of testosterone release (van Poppel, 2010). The flare phenomenon associated with GnRH agonists helped to drive the search for alternative agents. Consequently, the new millennium saw the development of GnRH antagonists. These agents bind directly to and block GnRH receptors, without causing the initial testosterone surge and flare associated with agonists (Van Poppel, 2008a). Abarelix was the first GnRH antagonist to be licensed for prostate cancer treatment; however, this agent was associated with immediate onset systemic allergic reactions resulting from histamine release and in 2005 was voluntarily withdrawn from US market (Huhtaniemi, ... • 29. Analysis Of Francois Hutteau s Great Search For Liberty Francois Hutteau s great search for Liberty Hello my French brothers and sisters! Dark times have befallen our precious land, and pure chaos has ensued. I write to the people in France in hopes of establishing a new land. A land that can be looked upon proudly with eyes of great virtue. In order to achieve our wildest dreams we must sort through the rubbish that has landed us here in the first place. How will we as a society react to the many things that have been dealt to the people of France? Perhaps our great fight ends in bloodshed, and broken promises. Or perhaps we could take heed of the laws and policies our fellow Europeans across the Sea. I had the pleasure of visiting one of the cities in America that the citizens take so much pride in: Boston, Massachusetts. A port town on the North Eastern coast that was a large part of the American Revolution. It was also home to the Notorious Boston Massacre. There are a number of things that I enjoyed about my trip, but pointing out the differences between Boston and France had to be the most delectable part of my trip. The way in which they practice religion is something to behold. Their new Constitution is also no laughing matter, and lastly the many things Americans find fun is mesmerizing, and also repulsive. America is a tremendous place and I cannot wait to guide you through my journey and inferences. The first voyage I made when I got off the boat was directly towards a church. I decided to visit the Old North Church and as I approached I noticed that the brick work seemed to glisten in the sun, and the white interior reminded me of how pure the world can really be. The church practiced Protestantism, and started soon after the War.[1] I admired the way in which the citizens praised God, but I did happen to notice that their practices were rather different from my own. After talking to some of the Americans most had either commented on my accent or expressed their condolences to the revolution. I also asked them about how they worship and how they choose to worship. Many of these American citizens were free to choose what they wanted to worship. Most did say that they would be judged for their religious decisions, but were never forced into doing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Synthetic Vs. Natural Polymers Synthetic vs Natural Polymers in Conditioning Shampoos Introduction and Thesis Cosmetics have been used for thousands of years to enhance the visual appearance of people, either through ritualistic or aesthetic motivations. With the turn of the 20th Century, the growing trend of the film industry caused an uprising in the commercialism of cosmetic products. This coincided with the increasing development in the chemistry industry, to accommodate the multi billion dollar industry which is present today. Previously, cosmetics were extracted out of natural resources such as minerals and natural plants, however it became necessary to synthetically produce some components included in cosmetics to accommodate the major increase in product demand (Polymer Solutions, 2014). Polymers are the second largest class of ingredients in the cosmetic industry (Lochhead, 2016). Polymers are molecules made up of a large number of low molecular mass units, or monomers, that are covalently bonded together (Cosmeticsandtoiletries.com, 2016; Gruber, 2016). The combination of monomers in a chain determines the structure, performance and physical properties of each polymer. The backbone of a polymer includes repeating monomers; if there is only one repeating monomer than it is a homopolymer; if there is more than one repeating monomer then this forms a copolymer, which can either be linear or branched depending on the side groups attached (Cosmeticsandtoiletries.com, 2016; Draelos, 2016). In government run primary schools, even when children show up, government paid teachers do not show up 25% of the time. The 2008 ILO study suggests that illiteracy resulting from a child going to work, rather than a quality primary and secondary school, limits the child s ability to get a basic educational grounding which would in normal situations enable them to acquire skills and to improve their prospects for a decent adult working life. • 32. Aristotle s Four Criterion Of Eudaimonia : Aristotle describes eudaimonia as the short way of reaching a final end. He believes that it is not a guarantee that one reaches eudaimonia even if he/she is a virtuous person. Arete plays a vital role in Aristotle s explanation because in the Nicomachean Ethics he claims that eudaimonia is an end result of actively exhibiting virtue in accordance with reason. He goes on to argue that one must be fully engaged in their work and be obtaining excellence in order for happiness to be present. There are four criterion of eudaimonia: durability, you must be able to take a punch because we cannot lose you easily; finality, it must be an ends to a final end, it cannot be a step towards another means; self sufficiency, if you have this, you would not be in search for more; and function, it must be an expression on humans doing what we ought to do. • 34. Consumer Boycotts Question 1: Naomi Klein, among others, is a big advocate of consumer boycotts as a means of ensuring ethical labor conditions in the supply chains of major brands. Describe the logic by which consumer boycotts are supposed to work. The logic behind boycotts is to get a company or an establishment to change something about the way they do business. For example in this article clothing brands where at the center of boycotts to end the working conditions that where in the sweatshops that made their products. Boycotts work because it hits a business right where it hurts, their wallets. People boycotting a company for doing something that they see as an ethical issue will result in them not buying or using their products or services. They will also tell their friends not to buy or use their products as well. So the company either has to live with the reduced sales from the boycott or change they way they produce their product. The more people that join in on a boycotts the more a boycott will be successful. When it comes to Saladin, the film makes it seem as though he was a man of tolerance and respect when in reality, he took pleasure in watching the decapitation of hundreds of christen soldiers and civilians alike. Through out his time as ruler of the Muslims, Saladin Preached jihad(or holy war) on the Christians and made it very clear that his goal was to take Jerusalem by force and kill all of the people living behind the walls and on the surrounding lands. Saladin as he is portrayed in the film is a man who chooses to work together with the Christians to try to find a reasonable balance between groups and holds them in high regard to himself.6 This is very far from any kind of truth at all.
