Developing Applications Algorithms For Various Projects
Due to my previous experience working in developing optimized algorithms for various projects,
I was invited by my supervisor to join a large and challenging project to help a fast growing
health care company adapt to new working environment and develop a functional billing
process. Fortunately, during my college, I had courses and trainings that gave me the
foundation to identify workplaces and optimized algorithms for each one. Combined with years
of experience, I was ready to show my engineering skills in a large and challenging project. I
attended multiple meetings with my supervisor and other team members and we talked and
brainstormed about this project for days. CE3.6The first step in this project was accurate data
collection and I was responsible to observe the current process of operation and gather as much
data as possible that helps the team to develop the working processes for smooth and optimized
operation. In the first step, I introduced myself to the client s staff and explained that I need to
have access to certain data and operation procedures to get an accurate understating about the
current status of the company. It was a challenging step, because the data I required from the
company was often mixed with patient s data that made it impossible to share with third party.
Therefore, I decided that I would visit the company in operation and collect the data in person.
Upon my visit, I noticed the billing process and coding involves many parties including

My Mother In My Life
I can still remember her cooking food on a red hot range top; her hand sitting gently on her hip
as she stirred the boiling macaroni with a wooden spoon. Her long hair was curled behind her
ears on either side. It shone brightly from the sunlight coming in the open kitchen window; and
the cool summer breeze flowed over her like a butterfly. My mom always looked so beautiful
and happy, even when doing the dullest of tasks. Most of the things I can recollect from my
childhood are about my mom: moments I spent with her, places we went, and things we talked
about. Being an only child, my life revolved around her. She was my best friend and was always
there for me when I needed her; she still is. She is one of the few people who are incredibly
important in my life.My mom is the person I credit for inspiring me and raising me to be the
person I amtoday. She taught me how to love, be non judgmental, and be kind. I can remember a
few instances when someone had betrayed her, or was rude to her, and she just smiled and
brushed it off. She always told me that there s no reason to hold a grudge against someone. Being
upset over someone is not worth your time and energy. So, she would just continue on with her
life, being as grateful to be alive as ever. Another thing she taught me was responsibility, probably
the hard way. One afternoon after I returned home from school, I greeted her as I always had, and
scurried into the office room to try and complete a

Antitrust Laws And The Antitrust Division Of The U.s....
Antitrust laws are a collection of laws and regulations, put into place over time, to help govern the
competiveness of large corporations. Enforced by the Federal Trade Commission and the Antitrust
Division of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) ( Antitrust Laws, 2003), the laws help regulate
ethical behavior between businesses to ensure that smaller businesses can compete with the bigger
name corporations. Mergers and monopolies come into play and greatly affect how these
businesses run. This paper will look at two different instances of possible violated laws and discuss
the specifics. The first case deals with a pharmaceutical company, the second two
telecommunications companies. One question being answered for both examples is what kind of
ethical dilemmas are present. Read on as the cases are examined. Federal antitrust enforcers are
investigating whether a multinational pharmaceutical company has attempted to minimize the
impact of generic competition to one of its most profitable prescription drugs. This antidepressant
drug is the company s best seller, with sales last year of $2.11 billion, representing a 22% increase
from the year before. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is conducting an investigation to
determine whether the company engaged in activities to prevent generic alternatives to the
prescription drug from entering the market. Specifically, the FTC is challenging a practice among
brand name and generic drugmanufacturers to agree to

Pryamid Research Paper
Before I red the nutrtion chapter, specifically the MyPyramid section, I never payed much
attention to the food pryamid. I was not aware as to how in depth the illistration was. I believe
the pryamid is a great outine for a healthy diet. If people need guidance as to how to lead a
healthier lifestyle, the pryamid is the perfect example. It not only explains how much of each
food group you should eat, but also explains excercising, which I believe is just as important.
Although I do think the pryamid is a good guide for people who may not know a lot about diets,
I tend to eat more proteins and fruits than reccomended. As an athlete I find I need more proteins
to keep my energy level high. I also drink a lot of water. A vegitarian is defined

The City Of Fort Worth, Texas
I grew up in the suburbs on the North side of Fort Worth, Texas, more specifically Keller, Texas.
Keller had a population close to 40,000 people by the time I left for Texas A M, but when I first
arrived there the population was only about 20,000 people. It is a growing town with a ton of
commodities and things to do, new activities are always popping up, such as the new movie theater
that was just built 5 miles away from my house. Being part of the suburbs of Fort Worth, it is
mostly organized in housing developments, with shopping centers scattered around. In each
housing development there were at least two schools, ranging from elementary to high school. At
the center of the town is downtown Keller, with the Town Hall at the center of... Show more content

Music has a big impact on my life, it is one of my favorite things in the world. My music library is
so diverse, so it is hard for me to pick my favorite genre, from hip hop to rock to country. I find it all
tasteful. If I had to say may favorite though it would be alternative rock, mostly because my
favorite band is the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their bass lines are amazing, and their music has so
much heart and emotion in it, it s something that everyone can jam along to. My least favorite
would have to be screamo, an off shoot of metal. It is just too angry and you cannot understand
anything the singer is saying, it isn t something that is easy for me to appreciate. The Hobbit is
my favorite book, the ore behind it keeps me interested and the way it is written is a completely
different style than today s writing. The writing style almost seems archaic but it has an
elegance to it that is extremely difficult to achieve. My upperclassmen are the heroes in my life
right now. Being in the Corps of Cadets at A M can be difficult sometimes, and without them
motivating me and supporting me, I don t believe I would be able to complete half of the tasks
that I have completed. They inspire me threw greatness and lead me with strength and resolve.

Statement Of Purpose For Journalism
Ezra Pound once said that literature is news that stays news. For me, literature is the very essence of
the enduring power of any great work of art. In journalism industry, it plays an important and
fundamental role in news reporting and communication. I deem literature is the art that uses
language as a media, depicting information about humanity and ways of living. Journalism,
flourished by the news that is constantly changing around this globe, is an ultra competitive modern
media market that needs versatile, multimedia journalists with cutting edge academic and
vocational skills, to influence people and the world. My parents came from little so that made a

Julia Robinson Math Festival Research Paper
The mission of Julia Robinson Mathematics Festival (JRMF) activities is to connect pre college
students with the working community of research mathematicians and the world of recreational
mathematics. We expose students and their teachers to advanced mathematics in an engaging way
that affects both their content knowledge and their attitude towards the subject.
We accomplish this by running joyous cooperative events at schools, universities, and community
centers after school, involving students, teachers, and members of the mathematics community.
These Festivals offer an alternative to mathematics competition and examination, the more
traditional ways to infuse advanced mathematics into the curriculum.

Each table is dedicated to a single activity. Students are led in their exploration by a facilitator, a
mathematical professional, teacher, or older student who guides the minimal intervention.
The activities cover a wide variety of mathematical topics, requiring no more mathematics than
appears in most classroom texbooks. The topics pull the students minds, using what they have
already learned in new ways, and showing them connections they may not have otherwise seen. In
this way, students experience in miniature the work of a professional mathematician.
Students choose their own activity, and usually engage in 3 or 4 over the duration of the festival.
Students typically spend about 30 minutes at one table, and sometimes much longer.
A sample list of topics treated in our problem sets is given in Appendix A. The form of the JRMF
is flexible, and can serve struggling students as well as for the most advanced Olympiad
contestants, as well as those in between. Festivals can be tailored to students in the early grades, or
middle school students, or high school students at any level of proficiency. Festivals are hosted at
schools, colleges, universities, community centers, and corporate

Renin Angiotensin Aldosterone System Analysis
Renin Angiotensin Aldosterone System (RAAS) is the system that regulates blood pressure in the
body. When the body detects low blood pressure (low fluid/low salts), the liver releases
angiotensinogen (Bayer pharma, 2015). The release of the angiotensinogen is the beginning of the
signal transduction pathway (Bayer pharma, 2015). The angiotensinogen and renin react together to
form angiotensin I, then angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) converts angiotensin I into
angiotensin II (Bayer pharma, 2015). Angiotensin causes vasoconstriction in the bloodvessels,
secretes the water retaining hormone vasopressin (AVP) from the pituitary gland, and also releases
adrenaline, noradrenaline, and aldosterone from the adrenal gland (Bayer pharma, 2015). Overall
blood pressure is most prominently regulated by the peptide angiotensin II. The angiotensin II
controls vasoconstriction through the regulation of water and salt balance (Lopez 2003). The
RAAS is an essential pathway for the body to regulate blood pressure in the body, but this pathway

ATRAP is found in many organ systems of the body but the highest concentration of ATRAP is
found in the kidneys (Giani 2013). With the advances of gene targeting technology, the
physiological role of ATRAP has been better defined (Giani 2013). For example in the experiment
Angiotensin II type 1 receptor associated protein: a novel modulator of angiotensin II actions in the
nephron they eliminated ATRAP from the system it showed an elevation in blood pressure by
about 8mm/Hg in mice (Giani 2013). In the experiment Giani found that mice with ATRAP
knockout had elevated plasma and blood volume, which means the absence of ATRAP caused
increased sodium and water retention by the kidneys (Giani 2013). Through the experiment Giani
concluded that ATRAP was a blood pressure modulator based on ATRAP s negative effects on
proximal tubular ATR function (Giani

It has a long established and well developed culinary tradition. It is an important part of Chinese
culture, which has its origins among the diverse regions of China as well as from Chinese people
living in other parts of the world. It is fair to say that Chinese cuisine has influenced many other
cuisines in Asia itself. The preferences for seasoning and cooking techniques of Chinese
provinces depend on differences among historical background and ethnic groups. The
geographic and topographic features, which include mountains, rivers, forests, and deserts, also
have a strong influence on the local available ingredients. The color, smell, and taste are the

Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven
Edgar Allan Poe is one of the most successful writers of all time. Twelve of Poe s works are
known for their literary construction. The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe is one of the most famous
poems in history and was first published in 1845. This is a poem that many readers may describe
as dark, twisted, and even scary can be oddly moving and eye catching. What were the meanings
in his masterpiece, and what did Poe want his readers to understand? Poe s literary work The Raven
shows literary elements of symbolism, theme, and imagery.
First and foremost, a symbol is an object, person, or place that has meaning in it self. This also
stands for something bigger, usually an idea or concept. The raven s darkness symbolizes death.
Death becomes a constant reminder and intruder. The raven also symbolizes the narrator s
memories of Lenore and grief. At the end of the poem the narrator himself even realizes the
ravens meaning; when he states the raven will be with him forever because thoughts of Lenore
will be forever with him. This can be why the ravens symbol is so dark. Additionally, December is
another symbol is Poe s poem. December is in winter, and nothing lives in the winter. December can
symbolize death. December is an end of something, and also the anticipation of something new, a
change, to happen. (Hallqvist). Another symbol many readers see is midnight. Midnight is the
darkest part of night. The large, shadowy raven arrives at midnight on a dreary evening, and taunts

Essential Oil Remedies
What To Know About Using Essential Oils As Home Remedies
Essential oils are the perfect home remedies. You don t need a prescription to buy them, they are
useful for a variety of ailments, and they are safe if you use them as intended. They have many
purposes from aromatherapy to pain relief and skin care. Here s what you need to know about
using essential oils.
Buy The Right Oils
It s extremely important to buy high quality oils. Make sure you buy essential oil and not perfume
oil. Read the label carefully to ensure the oil you buy is safe to ingest if that is your goal. Find a
quality supplier of high grade essential oils, so you never have to worry about buying a diluted or
contaminated product from your local store.
For example, frankincense is a popular oil that s used for a variety of medical conditions such as
arthritis, bronchitis, and acne. However, it s also a popular flagrance that s used to make incense,
perfume, and body lotions. Fragrance oils are less expensive and should not be taken internally.
Frankincense essential oil is costly. It is used by the drop and it is safe to take by mouth.

Therefore, you need to match the oil to the condition you are trying to treat. Lavender is an
excellent oil for relaxing you right before bedtime. Tea tree oil is a good natural antiseptic to use
for cleansing your skin. You can use essential oils along with traditional medical treatments. You
should let your doctor know what you take, but you don t need to stop conventional treatments if
you want to try essential oils to help you heal. The oils can complement other therapies such as
taking ginger oil to combat nausea during chemotherapy. Stock your medicine cabinet with a few
basic oils so you ll always have something on hand to treat cuts, burns, stomach upsets, and

Ethical Dilemmas in Multicultural counselling Essay
Ethical Dilemmas in a Multicultural Setting
Silvia Galea
An ethical dilemma exists whenever there are good but contradictory ethical reasons to take
conflicting and incompatible courses of action.
(Kitchner, 1984 p.29)
There is no legitimate way to avoid these ethical struggles.
They are part of our work . (Pope Vasquez, 2007 p.125).
Introduction
Cultural competence is fast becoming the new competence in counselling (Barnett 2009, Barnett
2000). As society changes and minorities become more prominent in our society, professionals are
ethically bound to learn new skills that help them deliver a culturally sensitive service to clients
requesting assistance in the helping profession. (Ridley, Liddle, Hill, Li, ... Show more content on

(Romero, 1985) highlights the need that counsellors view the identity and development of
culturally diverse people in terms of multiple, interactive factors, rather than a strictly cultural
framework.
Working with Dodo was a challenging experience which brought about many ethical dilemmas.
Such dilemmas often centred around developing her personal autonomy in the context of her ethnic
origin within the culture of dependency and interdependency that collective cultures proclaim. I
often found myself reflecting on how any abrupt changes could damage her rather than benefit her
as nonconformity to gender roles and stereotypes can have a devastating effect on females who
may be stigmatized, ostracized or even socially erased in particular cultural contexts (Romero,
1985). I often pondered upon what in one culture could be beneficent would result in an act of
malificance in a different cultural context. I strived to be faithful to my client, to move at her pace
and to go to the places where she wanted to go in the process of counseling. I urged and empowered
her to teach me her cultural norms, her traditions and the intricate fabric of her cultural network that
I may understand her internal conflicts when she started to grow in the understanding and
appreciation of other cultures which valued women empowerment. African culture has a

Feminism In Rear Window
Within the action and suspense of Rear Window, directed by Alfred Hitchcock, the theme of
feminism is uncovered. Throughout Rear Window, Lisa Fremont, the female protagonist, is a
symbol of feminism due to her character transformation. In the beginning of Rear Window, Lisa
Fremont is introduced during a conversation between L.B. Jeff Jefferies and his nurse Stella.
Throughout this conversation, Jefferies describes his girlfriend Lisa as being too perfect, she s too
talented, she s too beautiful, she s too sophisticated, she s too everything but what I want (Rear
Window). While this description of Lisa gives the viewers a preconceived impression about Lisa
and that she is just not the one for Jefferies, due to a lack of spontaneity and being adventurous, it
is not true. The reality of it is that Lisa is a financially stable, hardworking, and fashionable
woman that does not need a man to survive. Lisa is strong and independent and is a true symbol
of feminism. Hitchcock was very aware of the impact Lisa would have, especially in 1954 when
the film was made, and had Lisa parade around in the latest fashions not only for the sake of her
elegance (though that was important to him) but to bring out certain cruel and immature
tendencies in Jeff, who is afraid of committing to Lisa and who rationalizes his fear by attacks on
her style and way of expressing herself (Fawell). Even though Lisa is more than a compatible
match for Jefferies, and he refuses to see so, Lisa confronts the lack of faith Jefferies has in her
and sets out to prove him wrong, just as a true feminist would do. To prove Jefferies wrong, and
let him know that she is capable of being spontaneous and not just a stuck up fashionista, Lisa
takes matters into her own hands and takes control of her body and uses it to have the upper
hand over Jefferies. This scene, where Lisa appears at Jefferies apartment, she comes in with a
tiny suitcase, proving to Jefferies that she can definitely live out of one bag, as Jefferies had
previously told her she wouldn t be able to do. Also in this scene, Lisa does not ask to stay the
night, but insists, showing Jefferies who the real boss is and taking control of the situation. Finally,
the true part in this

Adam Aircraft
Introduction: This paper is about a company called Adam Aircraft that manufactures designs and
ultimately intends to sell aircrafts in the aerospace industry. Rick Adam, a successful entrepreneur
that has a passion for flying, established the company in the year 1993. Rick Adam identified a
need in the market through analysis and research by various means. His passion for flying was
fueled by his father that served in the US Air Force. Pilots and computer engineers socially

At first Ricks, biggest fear was that if the jets his company produced were not to be certified by
the Federal Aviation Authority (FAA), because the more time it took the FAA to certify a plane
the more costs and bills Rick had had to pay. Due to the limited financial capability of the
company, it was bound to fail if Goldman sachs; Ricks previous partner did not intervene and
provide the necessary capital needed to fund to company until it launched its products. The
company s costs were on going and high mainly because most the workforce included very
experienced managers and marketers on the top management level and for the technical part,
they were all highly paid engineers, which also worked overtime paid shifts of 21 hours a week.
Having mentioned earlier the tight schedule and the high costs as a challenge and a problem, I
would like to continue with the problems that involved the over seeing and analyses of the market
that was performed by Rick. I believe the management team was very optimistic in terms of
forecasting success. Even though the products offered to the market created a huge buzz but was
everyone that praised the aircrafts going to eventually but the products? No. I also believe that
Rick and his management team were blinded by their passion for planes to properly position and
launch their products. They could have created a more solid strategy in terms of the launching and
exposing of the product to the public.

Examples Of Sanitize In Spotlight
In Spotlight, the filmmakers include a scene where one of the Boston Globe reporters, Sacha

Specifically, he molested me. Sacha continues, and says, Joe, I think the language here is going to

This definition is, to render more acceptable, clean up, as by the removal of undesirable, improper

health related connotation of the first definition, but it makes Sacha s use of the word sanitize
seem especially fitting. Sacha and the Spotlight team have been fighting to expose confidential
materials, seen in their struggle to get the documents unsealed. When Mike gets a tip from
Garabedian that the 14 most damning docs are already unsealed because of his public motion to

This scene between Mike and Garabedian highlights what Sacha is doing by saying they cannot

record by either of the two definitions they have cleaned it, expunged it, and omitted unsavory

of what happened to Joe. This is why she encourages him to not use euphemisms or tidier language

Career Path Of Visual Communication Design Essay
You ll never make a living as an artist, a phrase I have heard nonstop from family, friends, and
just about everyone growing up. A phrase I constantly told myself while trying to pick my major
when I made the big transition in going to college. Coming from a family of doctors, veterinarians,
and other various medical careers, it was almost unheard of to pursue a career in the arts. I explored
business, advertising, teaching, and many other careers, but in the end, I decided to place
happiness over wealthiness and I chose to go through with a career path in Visual Communication
Design. Looking more into an art major and questioning if I had made the right decision, I learned
that so many of the things people say about artists are just rumours or myths. In today s society,
artists are not starving, they are thriving and we need them to keep the world running. Unlike
myself, many people decide to not get a job in the artsbecause they listen to the false claims of the
people that tell them that they will become a starving artistand have no money. In reality, creative
jobs are extremely needed in today s society, and there are actually very many perks in pursuing
an art career. Some of the many perks include, being known to make an average amount of money,
have little to no decrease in job outlook, being statistically happier than other careers, while making
others and the world around you a much more positive place.

practices, and the African background of Greek legends contributed by Shakespeare. While black
theatre was in its early stages, plays echoed of the lives they were living. Black American artists
were constructing and preforming plays for mixed audiences as early as 1821. The dance and

movement of Black Theatre. This would launch the Black Arts Movement during the 1960 s.
During this period black writers responded loudly to the racism black citizens were fighting
against in the Civil Rights Movement. This movement lasted for about 10 years, 1960 s 70 s. It
gave African Americans a greater significance in society. Through the different forms of media
emerging, blacks were able to spread knowledge of the expression of cultural differences. Theatre
performances were used to show audiences problem in their communities and businesses.

Antigone Foil To Creon
Antigone versus Creon
In the play Antigone, the character Antigone serves as a foil character for Creon in an attempt to
show Creon the wrong in his judgement. The play is based around the belief of right by burial
which Creon so happens to be denying a certain man of that right, Polynices, one of Antigone s
brothers. Antigone serves a foil for Creon through most of her actions throughout the play. She
buries her brother not once but twice, she argues with Creon over the right by burial belief, and
Creon has a chain reaction of loss that was caused by Antigone s death.
At the start of the play Antigone is suffering from the loss of her two brothers Eteocles and
Polynices who fought and killed each other in battle. Antigone states Eteocles ... Show more content

Ted Demme s Blow
Ted Demme s Blow is a highly informative movie about America s war on drugs. Although
dramatized at times, the film depicts the war on drugs rather accurately and captures the true
essence of why America is fighting a war on drugs. Rather than generalizing the drug war to its
audience, the film individualizes it to help facilitate the understanding of topics such as drug
smuggling, mandatory minimum sentencing, and sting operations. The formation of an almost
personal connection with George Jung is crucial in the beginning of the film. Including Jung s
background information is necessary to show how he truly had the mindset to start selling drugs in
the first place. The audience becomes understanding of Jung from that moment and stay... Show

At the end of the movie, George Jung decided that after legally making his own money he
wanted to have one last drug job for some extra cash, little did he know that his old gang was
setting him up to be caught by the federal government. Although the movie does not show the
work done by the federal government to find out this information, it showed how easy it is for
the government to still access anything they want. In the world of drug cartels, wiretapping is
extremely important since law enforcement can directly listen into conversations and use it as
evidence against the drug offenders. In some cases, previous drug cartel members are turned
into informants so the government can set up a sting operation, which is what happened to
George Jung. Since the drug deal already went through and he was in possession of the cocaine,
there was nothing Jung could do to escape law enforcement. Operations like this can be very
risky nowadays since drug cartels are rather violent, but for the time Jung was in the drug
business it was perfect. Jung s crime itself also showed how strict sentencing had become for drug
offenders over the years. For simply conspiring to smuggle drugs, Jung received a 60 year prison
sentence. Although his sentence was extremely reduced for testifying against his old partner, the 60
year sentence is still very extreme for simply smuggling drugs into the United States. This shows
the harshness of the drug laws in the United States and how the country is trying to do everything
in their power to win the war on

Gender Roles And The Medias Influence On Gender

Thought Paper #1
Gender roles, sex roles and the medias influence on gender have always seemed to play a key role
in society. They define the outcomes for the men and woman that are growing up in today s age.
men are taught to be strong, willing and show no emotion. Meanwhile woman are taught to be
beautiful, kind and delicate. These concepts show that the over powering force of society and that
the media have immense control of how boys and girls grow up with a heavy burden to bare.
Gender roles are very strong chains to break, they define what is and isn t allowed. During the
2008 campaign trail senator Hillary Clinton was bombarded with various forms of verbal abuse.
When speaking to a crowd of her supporters a couple of men in the crowd began to chant a
variety of demeaning phrases at the former secretary of state. This form of actions shows that
people aren t accepting of different genders. The idea of gender roles being able to decide whether
or not a candidate is suitable ultimately based on what he/she identify as is a devastating blow to
any feminist movement in the world. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Corruption Of The Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic was discovered by Christopher Columbus on his first voyage in 1492.
He named it La Isla de EspaГ±ola. The capital, Santo Domingo was founded in 1496 is the oldest
European settlement in the Western Hemisphere. Spain ceded the colony to France in 1795. The
island was conquered in 1801 by Haitian blacks under the command of Toussaint L Ouverture. In
1808 the people revolted and captured Santo Domingo the next year, setting up the first republic.
Led by Pedro Santana the Haitians were thrown out and the Dominican Republicwas established.
Multiple attacks on the Island forced Santana to make the country a part of Spain from 1861 to
1865. The first president, Buenaventura Baez had to deal with many economic issues and in 1870
attempted to annex the country to the United States but senate declined. Anarchy and corruption
continued until the dictatorship of Ulises Heureaux. The United States sent a group of Marines
when chaos broke out once again in 1924. Rafael Leonides Trujillo Molina a sergeant who was

Education And Literacy Development For Preschool Dual...
Introduction
When an educator walks into her classroom for the first time, she needs to be prepared to
encounter students that come from a variety of backgrounds. The children will be in different
stages of language development, and the educator must accommodate for each of these students.
Magruder, Hayslip, Espinosa, and Matera (2013) state, The US Census Bureau projects that by the
2030s, children whose home language is other than English will increase from roughly 22 percent
to 40 percent of the school age population (p. 9). This increase in second language learners will
cause the educator to accommodate for those needs. Second language learners need teachers who
welcome them and recognize their unique abilities, what they know, and what they need to learn
(Magruder, Hayslip, Espinosa, and Matera, 2013, p. 10).
The article, Many Languages, One Teacher: Supporting Language and Literacy Development for
Preschool Dual Language Learners, explains to educators how to support the language development
in young children who are learning English, how to incorporate Personalized Oral Language
Learning (POLL) into the classroom, and how to be intentional about supporting the needs of the
English language learners. The four individuals who wrote this article consult programs on dual
language learners and have their masters or doctorates in education (Magruder, et al., 2013).

Edgar Allan Poe Quotes About Death
Mors ultima linea rerum est ( Latin Quotes about Death ): this quote from Horace perfectly sums
up the theme of the writings of Edgar Allan Poe. Poe suffered much loss throughout his life first
with the loss of his mother, then his adopted mother, his first love, and finally his wife thus
explaining why Poe commonly uses deathas a theme in his works. Poe also commonly writes about
women and youth, with the presence of death bringing a depressing and ominous undertone. Death

to shed his romantic melancholia (Magistrale 40). The narrator of The Raven holds on to his

The reader then begins to also see death as barrier and can feel the same sadness that the narrator
himself is feeling. The bird brings about mixed feelings within the narrator. At first, the bird
amuses the narrator , but quickly frustrates him when the bird s only responds nevermore : the

these several countries have been believing or performing these traditions for many centuries.
Within these countries, there are plenty of unusual backstories in how these traditions came to be

celebrated on the night of December 24th, then on Christmas day many celebrations are taking

there are celebrations afterwards. There are men and a servant boy symbolizing the three wise men,
who go from house to house blessing the house. After they bless the house they receive donations

The Heart and Circulation of Blood
The Heart and Circulation of Blood
In this research paper, I will be analyzing the process of blood circulation within the human body. I
will be focusing on the pulmonary circuit and the systemic circuit, as well as the relationship with
the hepatic portal system. The combination of these systems allows the body to function properly
and maintain unconscious homeostasis. I will also be talking about the effects that fitness and diet
have on these processes.
The pulmonary circuit passes already used, deoxygenated and carbon dioxide rich blood from the
heart to the lungs in order for that the blood to become oxygenized. Once oxygenized, the blood is
distributed throughout the body via the systemic circuit, being transported in ... Show more content

In addition to the systemic circuit, there is a path that the blood can take through the mesenteric
artery that allows it to pass through the hepatic portal system. The mesenteric artery runs the
blood to the gastrointestinal tract and spleen and then to the liver. The blood s oxygen is
exchanged with carbon dioxide in the capillaries of the gastrointestinal tract, but some of the
blood does not take part in this exchange, and instead travels through the hepatic portal vein to the
liver. The liver is particularly special, as it receives both oxygenated and deoxygenated blood. The
liver then cleanses the blood of bacteria and any other harmful substance that may be in it (King,
2010). From here, the blood flows to the hepatic vein, which is then joined into the inferior vena
cava, and ultimately back to the heart.
It is vital that these processes are carried out without fault. They are all important to maintaining
homeostasis, and one of the ways to keep the blood flowing healthily is with exercise and a
balanced diet. Proper eating and exercise are important for allowing our bodies to fight problems
such as pulmonary hypertension, which an individual can get due to high blood pressure, and
causes the victim to have a shortness of breath (Fagard, 1999). In addition, studies have shown that

Effects Of Relationships In The Iliad
The Effect of Relationships Throughout the Iliad
Relationships by definition are the way in which two or more concepts, objects, or people share a
connection with one another. In the Iliad written by Homer during the time period ranging between
600 to 800 B.C, the portrayal of three main relationships strongly depicts the effect of relationships.
Achilles and Patroclus are two war heroes on the Achaean side who share a strong bond with one
another. Once Patroclus dies at the hand of Hector, a strong and brave hero on the Trojan side,
Achilles develops a sense of revenge and makes it his personal duty to avenge Patroclus which
causes him to forget his feud with King Agamemnon and resume fighting, while Diomedes and
Glaukos share a heritage bond which causes Diomedes and Glaukos to refrain from murdering one
another. However, although Hector and Andromache portray a strong relationship, it does not affect
Hector as strongly as Diomedes s and Achilles s relationships. Relationships in the Iliad affects
Achilles by forcing him to kill the man who kills Patroclus to exact revenge, Diomedes and
Glaukos to refrain from killing one another as they realize they share a family bond, but the
relationship between Hector and Andromache does not greatly affect Hector in the battlefield.

Essay On Tax Reform
Overall, Democrats are against this tax reform and believe that it is being put in place to benefit

believes that the tax cuts within the reform are specifically benefiting the rich. His suggestion was
that Democrats, in 2020, run a campaign that focuses on exposing Mr. Trump s false populism and
advocating for increased social spending. 6 The 51 49 vote in the Senate shows that no Senate

the way of a President fulfilling their promises and President Trump is no exception to these
conditions. There have been many hurdles he has had to overcome to successfully do anything

Acute Diarrhoeal Diseases
DISCUSSION
Acute diarrhoeal diseases among the children are one of the most important problems affecting
children in the world, reducing their well being and creating considerable demand for health
services (WHO, 2010). Diarrhoeal diseases are leading cause of preventable death, especially
among children aged under five in developing countries. Diarrhoea is defined as a child with
loose or watery stool for three or more times during a 24 hour period. The frequency and severity
of diarrhoea are provoked by lack of access to enough clean water and sanitary throwing away of
human waste, insufficient feeding practices and hand washing; poor housing circumstances and
lack of access to sufficient and reasonable health care (Gerald et al., 2001). Escherichia coli
(EPEC) is a main cause of diarrhoea in infants and children in addition to pathogens such as
Salmonella, Shigella, Yersinia, Vibrio, Campylobacter sp., Entamoeba histolytica, and Giardia
lamblia in developing countries (Ahmed et al., 2009). Diarrhoeagenic E. coli is the major cause of
gastroenteritis in children in the developing world and is associated with high resistance intensity
to antibiotics (Ochoa et al., 2009).
Improper recommendation of antibiotics provoked resistance and increased infectious disease
mortality not only in developing countries but also in developed countries. Aging populations alter
in behaviour and a decline in the development of new antibiotics aggravated a fading situation

that existed in the past. Merriam webster dictionary says evolution is a process of change in a
certain direction . Teachers friendly guide says that We study evolution to know more about the
world we live in today. Evolutionsummed up is change.
Precambrian time is most of the Earth s history, starting with the planet s creation about 4.6
billion years ago. There are many theories on how life began. Some people say there was a Big
Bang that happened 4.6 billion years ago. Scientist say that some chemicals collided with some
solar energy and then there was a big explosion that created the world we live in today. No one can

A worldview is someone s conception of something or a big picture according to oxford
dictionaries. There is speculation over new earth and old earth worldviews. People that believe
the new earth worldview believe in creation, that god created the earth. This worldview includes
that they believe in the flood and that is why we have certain extinct dinosaurs. A christian or
new earth worldview believes that the earth us only 7000 years old. The old earth worldview
believes that the earth is 4.6 billion years old. The old earth worldview believes it started with a
big bang . Unlike a new earth worldview, they believe a meteor came to earth and killed all the
dinosaurs, and they do not believe in the flood. They also believe the theory of macroevolution.
Most christians believe the new earth worldview. Christians should study this so they can give a
valid answer to an argument about the theory of evolution. Atheist believe in the old earth
worldview because they believe that there is no God. Even strong believing christians can
believe in evolution. C.S. lewis even believed in evolution. We are told in Genesis 1:1 in the
beginning God created the heavens and the earth . That is why we believe the new earth
worldview because we know that the whole word is inspired by God. There is many gaps that
where we cannot prove evolution is science fact, but one day we might close these gaps and we
will have to defend our faith. Colossians chapter

I want our target group to believe through our product that we will stay committed to giving them
the newest, hottest fashion with an emphasis on quality.
Product: Fossil makes watches for Michael Kors and of date the accessory line hasn t been
graced by any strong branded company yet Our accessory line will be designed by innovative
creators who are destined to obtain brand recognition instead of unknown designers that lack
forward sight. Our materials for our new lines will include tribal print and animal print, through
extensive research we have conclude that this will be a wave of fashion that if handled correctly
will have a staying power that is detrimental in the handbag business.
Price: Designer watches of course will be affected by the cost of research and acquisition of a
reputable designer but for the brand to be recognized they will have to start creating a slide, ie, a
current price is 375$ for a rose gold plated watch. It has been noted that these watches turn colors
after limited use. A partnership with Movado will enhance the novelty and the price so expect
to be seeing 1000$ being a price for a watch, if only as to secure this market. Handbags also will
need an upheaval in price so far. Note, prices in the range of 5000 7500$ for a bag with tribal
print and/or animal print this will give the consumer recognition of this brand in a non fad way.

The Dignity Of Human Life Essay
David Swenson, who was born in Sweden and was a professor of University of Minnesota. He is
well known to the public for his publication of the article called The Dignity of Human Life ,
which was originally published in 1949 and currently still could be found in many philosophy
books (Klemke, 2008). The article of The dignity of Humanlife contains several different valuable
ideas of the subject to human life and also includes some great conclusions at the final. One of
David s conclusion is that people besides learning and acquiring practical skills from the formal
education or training. People also need something more than the practical skills, which is
something of a different nature and it is something someone concludes self. Swenson states that
youth requires developing a view of life in order to become a good person in moral and
developed personalities. The view of life is not acquired through training and learning provided
by general means of formal education or experience, but is obtained individually through
thinking over someone s life, self exploring and subjective conviction. The reason for developing
such view of life is that view of life is the mean of giving one s life. it is a principle of living, a
spirit and an attitude capable of maintaining its unity and identity with itself in all of life s
complexities and varying vicissitudes. Said by Swenson. It is the sense, dignity and worth.
Otherwise, a life cannot be considered to be as living in a human

France s Bill Of Rights Document Analysis
Freedom and justice are what England s Bill of Rights, France s Declaration of Rights for Men,
and America s Bill of Right all have in common. All three countries did not like the rules or
leaders at the time thus, revolutions against them occurred. Then, these documents were created
because people wanted change. The first of the three is England s Bill of Rights which inspired
America s Declaration of Independence, which lead to France s Declaration of Right for Men.
Furthermore, I will explain the contents of each document, how all three documents relate to one
another, and which of these I would prefer to live under. The Bill of Rights of England was passed

Most of Iran is unoccupied, the land areas that no people reside in include primarily the deserts and

stays in Tehran, the capital city, or in Azerbaijan. Even though Iran has been an agricultural land for
a very long time, more than half of the total populationdwells in urban areas. The cities of Iran are
expanding quickly, which leads to inadequate sanitation and housing in many communities. This
trend is most likely going to resume, since most of Iran s youth aren t enthusiastic about rural life

Within the bazaar, merchants would be organized into groups based on what they specialize in.
For example, all weavers in one area, all bakers in another, and all silversmiths in another. Some
bazaars are really old and massive. For instance, Tehran s bazaar is a maze that has more than
6,000 stalls for merchants and 9 miles of walkways for customers. The bazaar is filled with
portable charcoal braziers and the scent of foods, perfumes, flavors, and animals. The city of
Shiraz s bazaar is a labyrinth of yellow brick walkways with high, gently arched ceilings that

inhabitants that dwell in the city and the population keeps growing at a quick rate. Since Tehran

Steganography, An Ulterior, And Lesser Known Approach For...
Steganography is an ulterior, and lesser known approach to private communication.
Steganographic applications work by taking in three things: a cover work; this could be a picture,
an audio file, a video file, etc., a message to be embedded, and a stego key; we don t always use one
but if we do it is much like an encryption key. Steganographyapplications will then embed the
messageinto the cover work. This is most commonly performed using a method known as LSB
embedding, which I will explain in detail.
LSB embedding involves taking the gray scale values of certain pixels, and making sure the LSB,
or least significant bit is set to the bit value needed. If we have a gray scale value of 51, or
00110011, and we need to have a 0 embedded at this pixel value, the application will simply
change the gray scale value to 50, or 00110010. If the grey scale value already ended in a 0 we
would leave it as is. Within LSB embedding are three options for how the pattern of pixels are
chosen. The first method; which has the lowest form of security, is sequential. This method
embeds the pixels in a sequential manner, for example: left to right, top to bottom. The second
method is pseudo (random). This method works exactly as it sounds and simply embeds based on
a random pattern, which can be initialized by the stego key provided. The third, and most secure,
method is adaptive. Adaptive works intelligently, by first analyzing the cover work and identifying
locations where statistical

North Ridgeville, or Ridgeville County during he earlier parts of history, was once covered by
the Late Wisconsin Glacier. In my area here are 6 known soils around the entire county. They
are; the Mahoning Trumbull Ellsworth association, the Orrville Lobdell Chagrin association,
the Fitchville Luray Sebring association, the Allis Mitiwanage Miner association, the Haskins
Jimtown Oshtemo association, and the Mahoning Miner association. All of these associations
have either near level, or very steep sloping, somewhat poor, to very poor drainage, and we only
have 4 horizons found in Lorain County. They are the O, A, B, and C horizons. The state of
Ohio is known as the Miamian state soil. They are considered as the most expensive soil around
as they have tons of cash crops being farmed, but also because of the drainage being so poor due
to dry weather, unpredictable weather, and dry soils. They constantly need to be watered and
seeded. The sun just beats down on a lot of the soil, especially my backyard, even with shade

as the eastern part of Nebraska. Much of the soils found near me are left behind the glaciers that

How Memories From The Brain Is Capable Of Retrieving...
Every time I learn the name of a student, I forget the name of a fish was once said by David Jordan,
the president of Stanford University (Anderson, Bjork Bjork, 2000). This statement is interesting
because it brings up the idea of the amount of information one can consume and maintain available
at any given time; this information is put into memory. Memory is the process of maintaining,
recovering, and applying information about episodes and events, when the original material is
not current (Goldstein, 2008, p. 136). This definition mean even if we have not just experience
that memory, our brain can go back in time and retrieve what has happened hours, days or years
ago. Retrieving memories from the brain is the process of relocating material from Long Term
Memory (LTM) back into working memory, where it becomes available through consciousness
(Goldstein, 2008, p. 197). Our brain is capable of retrieving information because it has been
encoded. Encoding is the process of obtaining information then converting it into memories, in
which goes onto our LTM (Goldstein, 2008, p. 196). The main claim of this essay is that is that
if a memory is encoded correctly, then that is all that is needed for memory failure or success
and the process of retrieving memories also relies on the encoding of the memory. Meanwhile,
this claim that encoding is all that is needed for memory failure or success was researched by Craik
and Lockhart (1972, as described by Goldstein, 2008, p.

My Thoughts On Type Of Training Essay
I would like to formally write this letter to express my thoughts on the type of training I have
experienced while starting this position. I appreciate everything you have done for me so far and
though there were great qualities to this training program, I believe that there are many areas that
could be improved upon as well. I know that you have put ample time into a training manual to
make sure that new employees are learning everything they should. The purpose of this letter is
solely to give you input from the other side of the training manual. There may be things that you
may not have realized and I personally think this would be beneficial to your employees or
prospects. You may have noticed that after the initial training period, I still had plenty of questions
that were not addressed during the training session.
I would like to start this letter with the great aspects of this training program. I really appreciated
that you have cleared your schedule for 2 days to explain to me the process of my job. My first
impression was when you had pulled out a list of topics that you would like to discuss over. It
seems very organized and well thought out. The list of topics hit every important task that I am
going to have to do along with the programs needed in order for me to do my job correctly. Not
only was this list informal, but it also allowed for you to check off the topics that we have already
addressed.

Review of Literature
Introduction History of Mount Vesuvius Mount Vesuvius is the only active volcano in mainland
Europe and is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world! It s elevation is over
4,000 feet (1,219 m) and the distance around the base is 30 miles (48.3 km). This humongous
mountain is located in Ottaviano, Metropolitan City of Naples, Italy, which is now known for its
ancient castles and history. It took about 300,000 years for Mount Vesuviusto look the way it does
today. This volcano started forming on the ocean floor as a submarine volcano. This mountain is a
stratovolcano. A stratovolcano forms when it erupts under the ocean repeatedly, adding layers and

On every eruption, volcanic ash starts forming after all the gases in magma expand and escape
into the atmosphere. Volcanic soils, also called andisols, form after all the volcanic ash from
previous eruptions accumulates. These soils bond well with organic materials, which facilitates the
plants to utilize the minerals in the soil as nutrients. As a result of all the organic minerals in the
volcano s caldera, it is now covered with trees and plants.
Mount Vesuvius has erupted about three dozen times since 79 A.D. It s most recent eruption was
on the year of 1944. But it wasn t as powerful as the 79 A.D. eruption, which by the way is the
most famous and well known. The eruption buried three nearby towns, one of which was Pompeii.
It was buried under 18 feet (5.5 m) of rubble, ash and pumice.
In A.D. 79, the Roman naturalist and historian Pliny the Younger, just 18 years old at the time,
wrote letters about the event. According to the book Volcanoes of the World: Mount Vesuvius, He
wrote that it was like a storm of stones. He was the first person in history ever to record
information about volcanoes. As a result of this, scientists now call eruptions of the most
dangerous kind, like this one, plinian. Because his written records gives scientists the earliest sight
into a volcanic eruption, they believe that the 79 A.D. eruption lasted for about 18 hours and
created a cloud of ash 20 miles (32.2 km)

Stakeholder Analysis
The triple aim of PPACA to promote accessible, high quality and cost efficient care involves large
number of reforms that influence all the segments associated with healthcare industry. These
reforms are affecting various stakeholders such as hospitals, physicians, and patients to varying
degrees and therefore policymakers need to consider independent stakeholder priorities along with
the impact on society and cost involved in order to achieve this triple aim. The Affordable Care Act
introduces payment reforms for individual physicians and for larger, organized health care systems,
ranging from bundled payments to payment adjustments for hospital acquired conditions. Empirical
evidence shows that payment structures such as these can improve care delivery, costs, and quality

Factors That Regulate Expression Of Stress Responsive...
Science I Term Paper
The research paper that this term paper is based on is Interactions Among Plant Transcription
Factors Regulating Expression of Stress responsive Genes, Sony Malhotra and R. Sowdhamini,
National Center for Biological Sciences, June 2014, Bioinformatics and Biology Insights.
Abstract:
Plants are known to respond to abiotic stress by up or down regulating their genes. This is done by
activating transcription factors. It is known that these transcription factors, though they have DNA
binding domains, interact amongst each other for the regulation of gene production. In order to find
out which transcription factors interact and how, the research uses genetic and molecular structure
information available in databases and computationally analyses the data. The factors that lead to
the conclusion of interaction between transcription factors includes spatial proximity and possible
interaction poses. Molecular docking is used to predict the interaction poses and DockScore is a
scoring system used to rank the interaction poses.
Introduction:
Plants are immobile and therefore need mechanisms to counteract stresses that they face from their
environment. Cold, high light, drought, salinity, abscisic acid, rehydration and combination of
stresses like cold drought salt stress are common abiotic stresses that plants encounter. In order to
deal with these stresses, plants either up regulate or down regulate their genes; that is, they increase
the production of

should make sure you follow your training guidelines, whether that is strength training, moderate

unhealthy sugars, trans fats, and saturated fats. Start to incorporate half a plate of greens and
fruits and a fistfull of lean protein per meal. Also to note try to eat regular meals throughout the
day and add fiber to your diet. Soluble fiber dissolves in water and helps control blood sugar levels
and reduce cholesterol. Good sources include barley, oatmeal, beans, nuts, and fruits such as
apples, berries, citrus fruits, and pears. (Robinson Segal 2016) Lastly, I would recommend that

According to the World Wildlife Fund (2001), jaws are sold for between $15,000 $50,000 and teeth
for up to $600 per tooth.
Initial legislation on the protection of Great White Sharks was enacted in South Africa in 1992.
Since then, a few countries and states including Namibia, the Maldives, Australia, Florida, and
California have instituted legislation to protect these creatures (Stevens and Bruce, 1999, http).
With reported declines in their populations, the International Union for Conservation of Nature first
listed the sharks on the endangered species list in 1996. The first legislation in the United States
that greatly limited the number of sharks that can be taken from U.S. waters by commercial and
sport fishermen came in 1993. In this legislation, the Great White Shark was declared off limits to
commercial harvest (Paige, 2001, http). In 2000, Bill Clinton signed the Shark Finning Prohibition
Act that bans shark finning in all U.S. Waters. In addition, the act provides that negotiations to
prohibit such practices be initiated internationally (Shark Finning Prohibited in US Waters, 2001,

  • 2. Developing Applications Algorithms For Various Projects Due to my previous experience working in developing optimized algorithms for various projects, I was invited by my supervisor to join a large and challenging project to help a fast growing health care company adapt to new working environment and develop a functional billing process. Fortunately, during my college, I had courses and trainings that gave me the foundation to identify workplaces and optimized algorithms for each one. Combined with years of experience, I was ready to show my engineering skills in a large and challenging project. I attended multiple meetings with my supervisor and other team members and we talked and brainstormed about this project for days. CE3.6The first step in this project was accurate data collection and I was responsible to observe the current process of operation and gather as much data as possible that helps the team to develop the working processes for smooth and optimized operation. In the first step, I introduced myself to the client s staff and explained that I need to have access to certain data and operation procedures to get an accurate understating about the current status of the company. It was a challenging step, because the data I required from the company was often mixed with patient s data that made it impossible to share with third party. Therefore, I decided that I would visit the company in operation and collect the data in person. Upon my visit, I noticed the billing process and coding involves many parties including ... • 3. My Mother In My Life I can still remember her cooking food on a red hot range top; her hand sitting gently on her hip as she stirred the boiling macaroni with a wooden spoon. Her long hair was curled behind her ears on either side. It shone brightly from the sunlight coming in the open kitchen window; and the cool summer breeze flowed over her like a butterfly. My mom always looked so beautiful and happy, even when doing the dullest of tasks. Most of the things I can recollect from my childhood are about my mom: moments I spent with her, places we went, and things we talked about. Being an only child, my life revolved around her. She was my best friend and was always there for me when I needed her; she still is. She is one of the few people who are incredibly important in my life.My mom is the person I credit for inspiring me and raising me to be the person I amtoday. She taught me how to love, be non judgmental, and be kind. I can remember a few instances when someone had betrayed her, or was rude to her, and she just smiled and brushed it off. She always told me that there s no reason to hold a grudge against someone. Being upset over someone is not worth your time and energy. So, she would just continue on with her life, being as grateful to be alive as ever. Another thing she taught me was responsibility, probably the hard way. One afternoon after I returned home from school, I greeted her as I always had, and scurried into the office room to try and complete a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Antitrust Laws And The Antitrust Division Of The U.s.... Antitrust laws are a collection of laws and regulations, put into place over time, to help govern the competiveness of large corporations. Enforced by the Federal Trade Commission and the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) ( Antitrust Laws, 2003), the laws help regulate ethical behavior between businesses to ensure that smaller businesses can compete with the bigger name corporations. Mergers and monopolies come into play and greatly affect how these businesses run. This paper will look at two different instances of possible violated laws and discuss the specifics. The first case deals with a pharmaceutical company, the second two telecommunications companies. One question being answered for both examples is what kind of ethical dilemmas are present. Read on as the cases are examined. Federal antitrust enforcers are investigating whether a multinational pharmaceutical company has attempted to minimize the impact of generic competition to one of its most profitable prescription drugs. This antidepressant drug is the company s best seller, with sales last year of $2.11 billion, representing a 22% increase from the year before. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is conducting an investigation to determine whether the company engaged in activities to prevent generic alternatives to the prescription drug from entering the market. Specifically, the FTC is challenging a practice among brand name and generic drugmanufacturers to agree to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Pryamid Research Paper Before I red the nutrtion chapter, specifically the MyPyramid section, I never payed much attention to the food pryamid. I was not aware as to how in depth the illistration was. I believe the pryamid is a great outine for a healthy diet. If people need guidance as to how to lead a healthier lifestyle, the pryamid is the perfect example. It not only explains how much of each food group you should eat, but also explains excercising, which I believe is just as important. Although I do think the pryamid is a good guide for people who may not know a lot about diets, I tend to eat more proteins and fruits than reccomended. As an athlete I find I need more proteins to keep my energy level high. I also drink a lot of water. A vegitarian is defined ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Keller had a population close to 40,000 people by the time I left for Texas A M, but when I first arrived there the population was only about 20,000 people. It is a growing town with a ton of commodities and things to do, new activities are always popping up, such as the new movie theater that was just built 5 miles away from my house. Being part of the suburbs of Fort Worth, it is mostly organized in housing developments, with shopping centers scattered around. My music library is so diverse, so it is hard for me to pick my favorite genre, from hip hop to rock to country. I find it all tasteful. If I had to say may favorite though it would be alternative rock, mostly because my favorite band is the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their bass lines are amazing, and their music has so much heart and emotion in it, it s something that everyone can jam along to. My least favorite would have to be screamo, an off shoot of metal. It is just too angry and you cannot understand anything the singer is saying, it isn t something that is easy for me to appreciate. The Hobbit is my favorite book, the ore behind it keeps me interested and the way it is written is a completely different style than today s writing. We expose students and their teachers to advanced mathematics in an engaging way that affects both their content knowledge and their attitude towards the subject. We accomplish this by running joyous cooperative events at schools, universities, and community centers after school, involving students, teachers, and members of the mathematics community. Students are led in their exploration by a facilitator, a mathematical professional, teacher, or older student who guides the minimal intervention. The activities cover a wide variety of mathematical topics, requiring no more mathematics than appears in most classroom texbooks. The topics pull the students minds, using what they have already learned in new ways, and showing them connections they may not have otherwise seen. In this way, students experience in miniature the work of a professional mathematician. Students choose their own activity, and usually engage in 3 or 4 over the duration of the festival. Students typically spend about 30 minutes at one table, and sometimes much longer. A sample list of topics treated in our problem sets is given in Appendix A. • 9. Renin Angiotensin Aldosterone System Analysis Renin Angiotensin Aldosterone System (RAAS) is the system that regulates blood pressure in the body. When the body detects low blood pressure (low fluid/low salts), the liver releases angiotensinogen (Bayer pharma, 2015). The release of the angiotensinogen is the beginning of the signal transduction pathway (Bayer pharma, 2015). The angiotensinogen and renin react together to form angiotensin I, then angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) converts angiotensin I into angiotensin II (Bayer pharma, 2015). Angiotensin causes vasoconstriction in the bloodvessels, secretes the water retaining hormone vasopressin (AVP) from the pituitary gland, and also releases adrenaline, noradrenaline, and aldosterone from the adrenal gland (Bayer pharma, 2015). Overall blood pressure is most prominently regulated by the peptide angiotensin II. The angiotensin II controls vasoconstriction through the regulation of water and salt balance (Lopez 2003). ATRAP is found in many organ systems of the body but the highest concentration of ATRAP is found in the kidneys (Giani 2013). With the advances of gene targeting technology, the physiological role of ATRAP has been better defined (Giani 2013). For example in the experiment Angiotensin II type 1 receptor associated protein: a novel modulator of angiotensin II actions in the nephron they eliminated ATRAP from the system it showed an elevation in blood pressure by about 8mm/Hg in mice (Giani 2013). In the experiment Giani found that mice with ATRAP knockout had elevated plasma and blood volume, which means the absence of ATRAP caused increased sodium and water retention by the kidneys (Giani 2013). The geographic and topographic features, which include mountains, rivers, forests, and deserts, also have a strong influence on the local available ingredients. The color, smell, and taste are the three traditional aspects used to describe Chinese food. In China, it is considered inappropriate to use knives or forks on a dining table. Chopsticks are the main eating utensils used for cutting and picking up food the predominance of chopsticks is the reason why most Chinese food is prepared in bite sized pieces or be so tender that it could be easily picked apart. In China, a good meal was expected to balance the four natures (hot, warm, cool, cold) and the five tastes (pungent, sweet, sour, bitter, salty). Salt had been used as a preservative since day one, but in cooking was only added in the form of Soy Sauce and not at the table. • 11. Edgar Allan Poe s The Raven Edgar Allan Poe is one of the most successful writers of all time. Twelve of Poe s works are known for their literary construction. The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe is one of the most famous poems in history and was first published in 1845. This is a poem that many readers may describe as dark, twisted, and even scary can be oddly moving and eye catching. What were the meanings in his masterpiece, and what did Poe want his readers to understand? Poe s literary work The Raven shows literary elements of symbolism, theme, and imagery. First and foremost, a symbol is an object, person, or place that has meaning in it self. This also stands for something bigger, usually an idea or concept. The raven s darkness symbolizes death. Death becomes a constant reminder and intruder. The raven also symbolizes the narrator s memories of Lenore and grief. At the end of the poem the narrator himself even realizes the ravens meaning; when he states the raven will be with him forever because thoughts of Lenore will be forever with him. This can be why the ravens symbol is so dark. Additionally, December is another symbol is Poe s poem. December is in winter, and nothing lives in the winter. December can symbolize death. December is an end of something, and also the anticipation of something new, a change, to happen. (Hallqvist). Another symbol many readers see is midnight. Midnight is the darkest part of night. • 14. Ethical Dilemmas in Multicultural counselling Essay Ethical Dilemmas in a Multicultural Setting Silvia Galea An ethical dilemma exists whenever there are good but contradictory ethical reasons to take conflicting and incompatible courses of action. (Kitchner, 1984 p.29) There is no legitimate way to avoid these ethical struggles. They are part of our work . (Pope Vasquez, 2007 p.125). Introduction Cultural competence is fast becoming the new competence in counselling (Barnett 2009, Barnett 2000). Working with Dodo was a challenging experience which brought about many ethical dilemmas. Such dilemmas often centred around developing her personal autonomy in the context of her ethnic origin within the culture of dependency and interdependency that collective cultures proclaim. I often found myself reflecting on how any abrupt changes could damage her rather than benefit her as nonconformity to gender roles and stereotypes can have a devastating effect on females who may be stigmatized, ostracized or even socially erased in particular cultural contexts (Romero, 1985). I often pondered upon what in one culture could be beneficent would result in an act of malificance in a different cultural context. I strived to be faithful to my client, to move at her pace and to go to the places where she wanted to go in the process of counseling. I urged and empowered her to teach me her cultural norms, her traditions and the intricate fabric of her cultural network that I may understand her internal conflicts when she started to grow in the understanding and appreciation of other cultures which valued women empowerment. • 15. Feminism In Rear Window Within the action and suspense of Rear Window, directed by Alfred Hitchcock, the theme of feminism is uncovered. Throughout Rear Window, Lisa Fremont, the female protagonist, is a symbol of feminism due to her character transformation. In the beginning of Rear Window, Lisa Fremont is introduced during a conversation between L.B. Jeff Jefferies and his nurse Stella. Throughout this conversation, Jefferies describes his girlfriend Lisa as being too perfect, she s too talented, she s too beautiful, she s too sophisticated, she s too everything but what I want (Rear Window). While this description of Lisa gives the viewers a preconceived impression about Lisa and that she is just not the one for Jefferies, due to a lack of spontaneity and being adventurous, it is not true. The reality of it is that Lisa is a financially stable, hardworking, and fashionable woman that does not need a man to survive. Lisa is strong and independent and is a true symbol of feminism. Hitchcock was very aware of the impact Lisa would have, especially in 1954 when the film was made, and had Lisa parade around in the latest fashions not only for the sake of her elegance (though that was important to him) but to bring out certain cruel and immature tendencies in Jeff, who is afraid of committing to Lisa and who rationalizes his fear by attacks on her style and way of expressing herself (Fawell). Even though Lisa is more than a compatible match for Jefferies, and he refuses to see so, Lisa confronts the lack of faith Jefferies has in her and sets out to prove him wrong, just as a true feminist would do. To prove Jefferies wrong, and let him know that she is capable of being spontaneous and not just a stuck up fashionista, Lisa takes matters into her own hands and takes control of her body and uses it to have the upper hand over Jefferies. This scene, where Lisa appears at Jefferies apartment, she comes in with a tiny suitcase, proving to Jefferies that she can definitely live out of one bag, as Jefferies had previously told her she wouldn t be able to do. Also in this scene, Lisa does not ask to stay the night, but insists, showing Jefferies who the real boss is and taking control of the situation. Finally, the true part in this ... In the world of drug cartels, wiretapping is extremely important since law enforcement can directly listen into conversations and use it as evidence against the drug offenders. In some cases, previous drug cartel members are turned into informants so the government can set up a sting operation, which is what happened to George Jung. Introduction When an educator walks into her classroom for the first time, she needs to be prepared to encounter students that come from a variety of backgrounds. The children will be in different stages of language development, and the educator must accommodate for each of these students. Magruder, Hayslip, Espinosa, and Matera (2013) state, The US Census Bureau projects that by the 2030s, children whose home language is other than English will increase from roughly 22 percent to 40 percent of the school age population (p. 9). • 33. Edgar Allan Poe Quotes About Death Mors ultima linea rerum est ( Latin Quotes about Death ): this quote from Horace perfectly sums up the theme of the writings of Edgar Allan Poe. Poe suffered much loss throughout his life first with the loss of his mother, then his adopted mother, his first love, and finally his wife thus explaining why Poe commonly uses deathas a theme in his works. Poe also commonly writes about women and youth, with the presence of death bringing a depressing and ominous undertone. Death exists in the happiest and saddest of subjects. The reader then begins to also see death as barrier and can feel the same sadness that the narrator himself is feeling. The bird brings about mixed feelings within the narrator. At first, the bird amuses the narrator , but quickly frustrates him when the bird s only responds nevermore : the narrator wonders if he will reencounter [Lenore] in the afterlife, and finally if the narrator himself will ever find peace in her absence. To each of these questions the bird s consistent reply infuriates him at the same time as it deepens his sense of loss (Magistrale 39 40). I will be focusing on the pulmonary circuit and the systemic circuit, as well as the relationship with the hepatic portal system. The combination of these systems allows the body to function properly and maintain unconscious homeostasis. I will also be talking about the effects that fitness and diet have on these processes. The pulmonary circuit passes already used, deoxygenated and carbon dioxide rich blood from the heart to the lungs in order for that the blood to become oxygenized. Once oxygenized, the blood is distributed throughout the body via the systemic circuit, being transported in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to the systemic circuit, there is a path that the blood can take through the mesenteric artery that allows it to pass through the hepatic portal system. The mesenteric artery runs the blood to the gastrointestinal tract and spleen and then to the liver. The blood s oxygen is exchanged with carbon dioxide in the capillaries of the gastrointestinal tract, but some of the blood does not take part in this exchange, and instead travels through the hepatic portal vein to the liver. The liver is particularly special, as it receives both oxygenated and deoxygenated blood. The liver then cleanses the blood of bacteria and any other harmful substance that may be in it (King, 2010). From here, the blood flows to the hepatic vein, which is then joined into the inferior vena cava, and ultimately back to the heart. It is vital that these processes are carried out without fault. They are all important to maintaining homeostasis, and one of the ways to keep the blood flowing healthily is with exercise and a balanced diet. Proper eating and exercise are important for allowing our bodies to fight problems such as pulmonary hypertension, which an individual can get due to high blood pressure, and causes the victim to have a shortness of breath (Fagard, 1999). Effects Of Relationships In The Iliad The Effect of Relationships Throughout the Iliad Relationships by definition are the way in which two or more concepts, objects, or people share a connection with one another. In the Iliad written by Homer during the time period ranging between 600 to 800 B.C, the portrayal of three main relationships strongly depicts the effect of relationships. Achilles and Patroclus are two war heroes on the Achaean side who share a strong bond with one another. Once Patroclus dies at the hand of Hector, a strong and brave hero on the Trojan side, Achilles develops a sense of revenge and makes it his personal duty to avenge Patroclus which causes him to forget his feud with King Agamemnon and resume fighting, while Diomedes and Glaukos share a heritage bond which causes Diomedes and Glaukos to refrain from murdering one another. However, although Hector and Andromache portray a strong relationship, it does not affect Hector as strongly as Diomedes s and Achilles s relationships. Relationships in the Iliad affects Achilles by forcing him to kill the man who kills Patroclus to exact revenge, Diomedes and Glaukos to refrain from killing one another as they realize they share a family bond, but the relationship between Hector and Andromache does not greatly affect Hector in the battlefield. • 40. Acute Diarrhoeal Diseases DISCUSSION Acute diarrhoeal diseases among the children are one of the most important problems affecting children in the world, reducing their well being and creating considerable demand for health services (WHO, 2010). Diarrhoeal diseases are leading cause of preventable death, especially among children aged under five in developing countries. Diarrhoea is defined as a child with loose or watery stool for three or more times during a 24 hour period. The frequency and severity of diarrhoea are provoked by lack of access to enough clean water and sanitary throwing away of human waste, insufficient feeding practices and hand washing; poor housing circumstances and lack of access to sufficient and reasonable health care (Gerald et al., 2001). Escherichia coli (EPEC) is a main cause of diarrhoea in infants and children in addition to pathogens such as Salmonella, Shigella, Yersinia, Vibrio, Campylobacter sp., Entamoeba histolytica, and Giardia lamblia in developing countries (Ahmed et al., 2009). Diarrhoeagenic E. coli is the major cause of gastroenteritis in children in the developing world and is associated with high resistance intensity to antibiotics (Ochoa et al., 2009). Improper recommendation of antibiotics provoked resistance and increased infectious disease mortality not only in developing countries but also in developed countries. The view of life is not acquired through training and learning provided by general means of formal education or experience, but is obtained individually through thinking over someone s life, self exploring and subjective conviction. • 47. Steganography, An Ulterior, And Lesser Known Approach For... Steganography is an ulterior, and lesser known approach to private communication. Steganographic applications work by taking in three things: a cover work; this could be a picture, an audio file, a video file, etc., a message to be embedded, and a stego key; we don t always use one but if we do it is much like an encryption key. Steganographyapplications will then embed the messageinto the cover work. This is most commonly performed using a method known as LSB embedding, which I will explain in detail. LSB embedding involves taking the gray scale values of certain pixels, and making sure the LSB, or least significant bit is set to the bit value needed. If we have a gray scale value of 51, or 00110011, and we need to have a 0 embedded at this pixel value, the application will simply change the gray scale value to 50, or 00110010. If the grey scale value already ended in a 0 we would leave it as is. Within LSB embedding are three options for how the pattern of pixels are chosen. The first method; which has the lowest form of security, is sequential. This method embeds the pixels in a sequential manner, for example: left to right, top to bottom. The second method is pseudo (random). This method works exactly as it sounds and simply embeds based on a random pattern, which can be initialized by the stego key provided. The third, and most secure, method is adaptive. Adaptive works intelligently, by first analyzing the cover work and identifying locations where statistical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. How Memories From The Brain Is Capable Of Retrieving... Every time I learn the name of a student, I forget the name of a fish was once said by David Jordan, the president of Stanford University (Anderson, Bjork Bjork, 2000). This statement is interesting because it brings up the idea of the amount of information one can consume and maintain available at any given time; this information is put into memory. Memory is the process of maintaining, recovering, and applying information about episodes and events, when the original material is not current (Goldstein, 2008, p. 136). This definition mean even if we have not just experience that memory, our brain can go back in time and retrieve what has happened hours, days or years ago. Retrieving memories from the brain is the process of relocating material from Long Term Memory (LTM) back into working memory, where it becomes available through consciousness (Goldstein, 2008, p. 197). Our brain is capable of retrieving information because it has been encoded. Encoding is the process of obtaining information then converting it into memories, in which goes onto our LTM (Goldstein, 2008, p. 196). The main claim of this essay is that is that if a memory is encoded correctly, then that is all that is needed for memory failure or success and the process of retrieving memories also relies on the encoding of the memory. Meanwhile, this claim that encoding is all that is needed for memory failure or success was researched by Craik and Lockhart (1972, as described by Goldstein, 2008, p. ... In A.D. 79, the Roman naturalist and historian Pliny the Younger, just 18 years old at the time, wrote letters about the event. According to the book Volcanoes of the World: Mount Vesuvius, He wrote that it was like a storm of stones. He was the first person in history ever to record information about volcanoes. As a result of this, scientists now call eruptions of the most dangerous kind, like this one, plinian. Because his written records gives scientists the earliest sight into a volcanic eruption, they believe that the 79 A.D. eruption lasted for about 18 hours and created a cloud of ash 20 miles (32.2 km) ... • 52. Healthcare Quality And Affordable Care Act ( Ppaca ) United States has no dearth of highly qualified, well trained doctors and still the US healthcare quality fails to meet the established industry benchmarks. Institute of Medicine s (IOM s) 2001 Report, Crossing the Quality Chasm , clearly states that the American healthcare delivery system is in need of a pivotal change. (Committee on Quality of Healthcare in America (Institute of Medicine ), 2001). The exasperation level is continuously rising amongst both, the patients and the providers, and yet the problem of delivering and receiving high quality care remains unaffected. In order to address this problem of healthcare quality improvement and affordability, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA or Obamacare) was signed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... b) Large variation exist in the per capita healthcare expenditure across the United States which can be attributed to difference in healthcare services provided due to absence of evidence based treatment. c) Overuse and misuse of healthcare services are proving to be costly, pervasive and causing harm to the patients. Stakeholder Analysis The triple aim of PPACA to promote accessible, high quality and cost efficient care involves large number of reforms that influence all the segments associated with healthcare industry. These reforms are affecting various stakeholders such as hospitals, physicians, and patients to varying degrees and therefore policymakers need to consider independent stakeholder priorities along with the impact on society and cost involved in order to achieve this triple aim. The Affordable Care Act introduces payment reforms for individual physicians and for larger, organized health care systems, ranging from bundled payments to payment adjustments for hospital acquired conditions. Empirical evidence shows that payment structures such as these can improve care delivery, costs, and quality (A Report from Senator Sheldon Whitehouse for the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor ... • 53. Factors That Regulate Expression Of Stress Responsive... Science I Term Paper The research paper that this term paper is based on is Interactions Among Plant Transcription Factors Regulating Expression of Stress responsive Genes, Sony Malhotra and R. Sowdhamini, National Center for Biological Sciences, June 2014, Bioinformatics and Biology Insights. Abstract: Plants are known to respond to abiotic stress by up or down regulating their genes. This is done by activating transcription factors. It is known that these transcription factors, though they have DNA binding domains, interact amongst each other for the regulation of gene production. In order to find out which transcription factors interact and how, the research uses genetic and molecular structure information available in databases and computationally analyses the data. The factors that lead to the conclusion of interaction between transcription factors includes spatial proximity and possible interaction poses. Molecular docking is used to predict the interaction poses and DockScore is a scoring system used to rank the interaction poses. Introduction: Plants are immobile and therefore need mechanisms to counteract stresses that they face from their environment. Cold, high light, drought, salinity, abscisic acid, rehydration and combination of stresses like cold drought salt stress are common abiotic stresses that plants encounter. In order to deal with these stresses, plants either up regulate or down regulate their genes; that is, they increase the production of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. High Blood Pressure Stage 1 Hypertension Blood pressure is the force exerted by the blood on the inner walls of the veins/vessels. In many cases, when blood pressure is too high a multitude of chronic diseases can occur such as heart disease, atherosclerosis, and negatively impact every blood vessel that travels around your body. According to your blood pressure results (High Blood Pressure stage 1 Hypertension), you are in the unhealthy range putting you at risk for these diseases and others like them. This can be a result of sedentary lifestyle, poor diet, lack of exercise, smoking, drinking and etc... Blood pressure is typically inconsistent, for example is can vary by just walking around or by being nervous but your results indicate that it may be high regardless. However, it is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When your blood glucose levels are too high then that can be a sign of type 2 diabetes. Luckily your blood glucose levels are just below normal. However, I think it is too close to the line to say you are clear because blood glucose tends to fluctuate. I think it would still be important for you to go through the steps to lower it, this will also contribute to the levels of all the of aspects I have already spoken to transition to the healthy ranges. To reduce your blood glucose levels you should make sure you follow your training guidelines, whether that is strength training, moderate HIIT training, or just walking for 30 minutes a day, it is better than being sedentary. Also cut out unhealthy sugars, trans fats, and saturated fats. Start to incorporate half a plate of greens and fruits and a fistfull of lean protein per meal. Also to note try to eat regular meals throughout the day and add fiber to your diet. Soluble fiber dissolves in water and helps control blood sugar levels and reduce cholesterol. Good sources include barley, oatmeal, beans, nuts, and fruits such as apples, berries, citrus fruits, and pears. (Robinson Segal 2016) Lastly, I would recommend that you keep stress at a minimum and try to get 7 9 hours of sleep a night. All of this will help you reduce your Blood glucose or keep it in the healthy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Pill Camera INTRODUCTION In the past, doctors have been diagnosing problems associated with the small intestine such as cancer, ulcers and polyps by using X rays or exploratory surgery. These techniques are both unpleasant and painful, as is surgery. The advancement of our technology today has lead to its effective use and application to the medical field. One effective and purposeful application of the advancement of technology is the process of endoscopy, which is used to diagnose and examine the conditions of the gastrointestinal tract of the patents. It has been reported that this process is done by inserting an 8mm tube through the mouth, with a camera at one end, and images are shown on nearby monitor, allowing the medics to carefully guide it ... A belt is applied around the patient s waist and holds a recording device and a battery pack. Sensors are incorporated within the belt. Data recorder Data recorder is a small portable recording device placed in the recorder pouch, attached to the sensor belt. It has light weight (470 gm). Data recorder receives and records signals transmitted by camera. It is of the size of walkman and receives and stores 5000 to 6000 JPEG images on a 9 GB hard drive. Images take several hours to download through several connections. Data recorder stores the images of your examination. Do not expose them to shock, vibration or direct sunlight, which may result in loss of information. Working Principle It is slightly larger than normal capsule. The patient swallows the capsule and the natural muscular waves of the digestive tract propel it forward through stomach, into small intestine, through the large intestine, and then out in the stool. It takes snaps as it glides through digestive tract twice a second. The capsule transmits the images to a data recorder, which is worn on a belt around the patient s waist while going about his or her day as usual. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We Must Save the Great White Shark from Extinction We Must Save the Great White Shark from Extinction The Great White Shark, immortalized by the Hollywood film Jaws, is at the midst of an international controversy. The shark, despite its notoriety, is in danger of extinction. A conflict over the fate of these sharks has existed for decades, but with recent attacks the debate has come to the forefront. The environmental conflict over the Great White Shark has yet to reach a conclusion, as many factors exist that hinder resolution possibilities. The purpose of this paper is to provide background information on the debate in an attempt to understand why consensus has so far been unattainable. This paper provides basic information including subsequent legislation, stakeholders, factors to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the World Wildlife Fund (2001), jaws are sold for between $15,000 $50,000 and teeth for up to $600 per tooth. Initial legislation on the protection of Great White Sharks was enacted in South Africa in 1992. Since then, a few countries and states including Namibia, the Maldives, Australia, Florida, and California have instituted legislation to protect these creatures (Stevens and Bruce, 1999, http). With reported declines in their populations, the International Union for Conservation of Nature first listed the sharks on the endangered species list in 1996. The first legislation in the United States that greatly limited the number of sharks that can be taken from U.S. waters by commercial and sport fishermen came in 1993. In this legislation, the Great White Shark was declared off limits to commercial harvest (Paige, 2001, http). In 2000, Bill Clinton signed the Shark Finning Prohibition Act that bans shark finning in all U.S. Waters. In addition, the act provides that negotiations to prohibit such practices be initiated internationally (Shark Finning Prohibited in US Waters, 2001, http). The most recent fight for the protection of the Great White occurred at the United Nations Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). The most recent CITIES conference in Kenya in April of 2000 voted down a proposal that would regulate the trade of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
