Premature Infant Observation
Having the opportunity to watch a child grow over this past semester was a real eye opener. I was able
to see this particular infant hit a couple of developmental milestones for her age. My environment was
the Infant B classroom having infants ages, 6 months to 12 months. My particular target child was
almost one when I started analyzing her. Talking to the caregivers, I found that she was premature and
has a twin brother. I was able to watch the infant go from not being able to eat off a spoon, only be
able to sit in a bouncer and not being to crawl at all to being able to slowly each from a spoon, put one
foot in front another while a caregiver holding her hands and become mobile crawling a way that
benefits her. Being a premature infant,

Compare and Contrast of the Classical School of Management...
Compare and contrast of the classical school of management and the human relations school of
management
The classical or traditional approach to management was generally concerned with the structure and
the activities of formal organization. The utmost importance in the achievement of an effective
organization were seen to be the issues such as the establishment of a hierarchy of authority, the
division of work, and the span of control.
The classical management focuses on the efficiency and includes scientific, bureaucratic and
administrative management.
The scientific approach required several major principles in its application to management: 1st

Offices are highly specialized. Appointments to these offices are made according to specialized
qualifications rather than ascribed criteria. All of these ideal characteristics have one goal, to promote
the efficient attainment of the organization s goals.
Some have seriously misinterpreted Weber and have claimed that he liked bureaucracy, that he
believed that bureaucracy was an ideal organization. Others have pronounced Weber wrong because
bureaucracies do not live up to his list of ideals . Others have even claimed that Weber invented
bureaucratic organization. But Weber described bureaucracy as an ideal type in order to more
accurately describes their growth in power and scope in the modern world. His studies of bureaucracy
still form the core of organizational sociology.
Weber s discussion of authority relations also provides insight into what is happening in the modern
world. Weber distinguished three main types of authority: Traditional authority, Rational legal
authority and Charismatic authority.
Administrative management is a style of management that focuses on principles to be used by
managers to co ordinate the internal activities of the total organization. This theory was developed by
Henri Fayol (1841 1925) to be taught to individuals with administrative responsibilities, which lead to
the five major functions of managerial activities, planning, organizing, commanding,

Explain The Five Steps Of Correcting The Pao2 Level
Step one of the five steps approach to interpret the above values is to look at the PaO2 level which is
currently 70. Since the normal level is between 80 to 100 mm hg, the current PaO2 of 70 means Mary
is experiencing hypoxemia. However, the patient s current oxygen delivery is at 100% thus the nurse
needs to continue to monitor the patient closely. A strategy to correct the PaO2 level is correcting the
PaCO2 level first because as CO2 rises, PaO2 falls. The nurse can adjust the PEEP level and can be
increased to 6 or 7cm H20 since that will help keep the alveoli open to better the oxygenation for the
patient so we are able to eventually decrease the delivered O2 to protect the patient from any possible
oxygen toxicity. The second step is

My Development As A Psychologist
Chapter 42
Dr Gordon Mangan
Dr Mangan was far more influential in my development as a psychologist than I realised when I was a
student. I must confess that I didn t warm to him as a teacher. When I peruse his publications it seems
amazing that I cant find a full biography or bibliography of Mangan anywhere on the net. I am happy
to fill that gap now. It is high time.
Dr Mangan has a rare scientific talent that enables him to originate and follow uncommon ideas to
their conclusion and then substantiate his remarkable ideas with clear theorising and hard
experimental data.
An overview of his publications might lead to the impression that he deliberately chose areas that
were neglected and controversial. He devoted half a decade of his early career to parapsychology,
publishing innovative research and clearheaded reviews. He devoted the later part of his career to
research in smoking funded by the tobacco industry.
He had a lasting interest in Russian psychology particularly Pavlov and the neo Pavlovians. A
considerable amount of his work is devoted to drawing parallels between Eastern and Western
conceptualisations of personality, learning and arousal which culminated in an influential book The
Biology of Human Conduct: East West Models of Temperament and Personality .
As well as these three areas he published on a broad range of topics including intelligence, aging,
learning, conflict, behaviour therapy, personality, attention, music and arousal.

Oil Spills From An Off Shore Oil Rig
Background
The oil spills from an off shore oil rig or tanker can do tremendous damage to the esosystem in the
area of the spill and expand over vast regions to affect coastlines and indigenous wildlife hundreds of
miles away. Cleaning oil spills, especially in a marine environment is important and it is a challenging
task. The methods currently used to clean oil in water can be divided into following categories: using
booms and skimmer; using oil solidifier and dispersants; adding biological agents to speed up the oil
breakdown; or in situ burning of oil spills. However, only the skimmers were designed to recover the
spill oil.1
When oil is skimmed from the surface water, much of the recovered material is water. Thus, the
storage container fill up with more water than the actual oil. For example, a weir skimmer generally
recovers 70% water and 30% oil.1 To help make storage space available for actual oil, the recovered
water may be decanted back into the surface water where it was collected.
The collection of oil using hydrophobic/oleophilic material is preferred because it allows for the
proper disposal of oil and does not cause secondary pollution. The combat global scale water pollution
arising from oil spills and industrial organic pollutant, the development of efficient absorbent material
to efficiently separate and remove oil and organic pollutants from water should be of great
significance in addressing the environmental issue.

National Organization For Women (NOW)
National Organization for Women:
Interest Group Research Paper According to Bardes, Shelly, and Schmidt (2010), an interest group is
an organized group of individuals sharing common objectives who actively attempt to influence
policymakers (p. 225). In America, our government is guided by interest groups who uses different
techniques to try to persuade politicians to advocate for their beliefs. The National Organization for
Women (NOW) is one example of the many interest group in America that is lobbying for their
ideology. NOW is a beneficial interest group because it fights for women inequality and also supports
Amendment I in the Constitution.
History of NOW
The National Organization for Women (NOW), a feminist organization, was formed in Washington,
D.C. on June 30, 1966 (National Organization for Women [NOW], n.d.). It was established by twenty
eight women and led by Betty Friedan (NOW, n.d.). This group was created due to the discrimination
and unfair treatment that women were facing as they moved from work in the home to public
employment. NOW work to bring equality for women and focuses on a broad range of women s
rights, including economic justice, pay equity, racial discrimination, women s health and body image,
women with disabilities, reproductive rights and justice, family law, marriage and family formation
rights... (NOW, n.d.). Their goal is to stop harassment and discrimination against women in society

Important Aspects Of Teaching And Coaching
Important Aspects of Teaching and Coaching
When a sports highlight of a great play showcasing teamwork is watched on a highlight reel, what is
the immediate reaction, that play was amazing. Great teams make great plays and often those
successful plays transpire to playing field or court due to many hours of practice, handwork, repetition
and dedication. Those plays didn t just miraculously happen. Someone had to draw the game plan up
and then figure out the most innovative way instill that play and game plan while catering to all of the
attributes and learning abilities of their athletes in order to maximize on those abilities and talents. The
same goes for classroom instruction. Teachers have the monumental task of understanding the social,
cultural and cognitive behaviors of all their students. Teachers and coaches have to continue to remain
flexible and be open to changes in teaching theories and techniques. The first line of education other
than what is learned at the student s home is from a teacher and a coach. It is highly important for
teachers and coaches to be prepared and ready to shape these minds positively and to prepare students
to be productive members in society. Coaching and teaching have many aspects in common and one
helps augment the other nicely. Can you remember the first time something was taught to you or the
first time that you remember that you learned something? It could have been learning how to walk,

Relationship Between Media And Relationships
Graeme Wright Emma Hudelson 11/15/17 FYS Media and Relationships Media has existed in our
lives for centuries. It is a continuously developing force that has taken over our world today. In recent
history, films were one of the most popular sources of media and highly influential on the minds of
many throughout the world. It gave people certain ideals and stereotypes of how things should be.
Today, film is not the only prominent media source, social media has made its mark. Mark Zuckerberg
s creation of Facebook was the first major type of social media when it was released in 2004. Since
then, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat have become the three most prominent sources of social media
that follow in facebook s footsteps. According to Statista , Humans consume over 12 hours of media
each day. The 12 hours we spend on media is full of possible love damaging influences. The view of
real love has been altered in recent years due to fake love. According to Chuck Klosterman, the media
has affected the way that humans interpret love in a negative light but, while this is the case, it s also
imperative to show that people can differentiate between what is fake and what is real. Social media is
a common culprit of permitting fake love. Millennials are the up and coming crop of people looking
for love. Social media plays a major role in the lives of these teens and young adults, which can
negatively impact their chances of finding real love. Facebook negatively influences

Viderunt Omnes Analysis
In this documentary, Howard details the wide range of music that has existed and how it has evolved
throughout the centuries. He reminds us how fortunate we are to have these different genres of music
readily available on the internet. He makes a point that people back then were lucky to hear their
favorite symphony at least five times in their lives. This fact made me realize how unappreciative we
have become of music. We should be taking advantage of the opportunity to be able to experience
music from different centuries and countries. Personally, I always considered music to be a leisure
activity used in order to pass time. It was interesting to find out that during the Stone Age, music was
used for serious matters. Whistles and flutes were found in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For example, Pérotin was a French composer of the twelfth century who was well known for using
multiple voices and having composed extremely complex and creative chords. In his hymn titled
Viderunt Omnes you can clearly hear the layering of multiple voices. I agree with Howard when he
says this song has a jaunty rhythm and weirdly effective harmonies. Although this song sounded
strange and disorganized, it was still pleasing to listen to. The notation of the song was intense. There
was so much going on and the notes were so compact. It was impressive listening to the choir perform
such a complex song. Howard made me realize how lucky we are to be able to have access to a variety
of music. I was surprised that I was able to enjoy music from thousands of years ago. After watching
the documentary, I feel more informed about the history and evolution of music. When looking at
multiple centuries, it is becomes clearer to see that there has been a huge progression of music and
instruments. Music will undoubtedly continue to make advancements. It will be interesting to see what
kind of instruments are going to

The Moral Judgment On Human Behavior
Everyday we come across situations where we have to make decisions. When we are in engaged in the
decision making process, we often rely on our morals. One s moral judgment on something is a
reflection of what they believe is right versus wrong, good versus bad, and just versus unjust in
regards to human behavior. Their morals are essentially shaped by their upbringing and their personal
experiences. For example, social norms that society labels as acceptable, cultural practices that one is
engaged in, along with religious beliefs are all things that can shape ones morals and help create ones
ethical judgment. It is a personal and custom map that each person follows in order to distinguish,
consciously after evaluating a situation or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, this moral principle challenges the MCM because it does not level the playing field in
regards to comparison amongst various cultures or political situations.
Ethical Subjectivism is the idea that our moral opinions are based on our feelings and nothing more.
There is no such thing as objective right or wrong. (Rachels 33). The general population believes that
the racial hating actions of the Ku Klux Klan are irrational and immoral. However, since it is solely
based on feelings and not objectivism, the Ku Klux Klan feels that their actions are completely moral.
The key flaw here with this moral principle is that it does not account for moral truths and falsehood
and it cannot account for the place of reason in ethics (Buscani). By not supporting reasoning and
impartiality, Ethical Subjectivism challenges the MCM.
Divine Command Theory revolves around the nature of right and wrong. In Judaism, Christianity and
Islam, God is conceived as the lawgiver and we choose to accept or reject his commandments , so if
we are to live as we should, we should follow God s laws (50). This theory ties morality to religion.
However, there are complications with this principal. Atheists would not accept this because they do
not believe in a God, so other things shape their morals. Additionally, you cannot pick and choose
what rules you want to follow. This principle only works if all of the rules are followed. It is evident
that difficulties exist for

Machines Overcoming Humans
As one would begin to think, about how much technology we humans use daily, they realize just how
much we are in need of it. As people, look back in time over the generations to where we no
technology to whereas now almost everything you come across you can find on the internet or on a
system. When reading The Machine Stops, it shows the reader just how naïve people are to how much
technology they use. People are so use to just having it that they do not even think about how much it
consumes their lives. As I have learned, in the past couple of months just how much we humans are as
a cyborg, made me just as gullible as people are to how much technology consumes our lives. When
first thinking about the concept of us humans are as cybernetic organisms I was skeptical about the
concept and did not believe we were as cybernetic organisms. As looking to see what a cybernetic
organism is, I found they are a human who has certain biological developments assisted or controlled
by mechanical or electronic devices. When learning that was the meaning I began to think us humans
are as cybernetic organisms. My first reading on the thoughts of cyborg, was You Are Cyborg, written
by Hari Kunzru, writing to Donna Haraway who does believe we humans are cyborgs. As one reads
You Are Cyborg, who sees that Donna Haraway, is not saying that we humans are physically cyborgs
that are all mechanically made but that we are consumed by technology making us cybernetic
organisms. This concept

Diecker, Luke Worley vs. Blake Metcalf, Max Kemper vs. Collin Goveia, Michael Smith vs. Austin
Sweet, Square vs Joe Wolf, Bryce Rutledge vs. Parker McDonald all leading up to the main event.
Will Hogan had been taking cash bets throughout the night and Brendan was the heavy favorite. (Our
event had turned from an underground fight club to an underground fight club with illegal gambling)
Brendan was the favorite due to his size and the fact that he was getting shipped off to Army basic
training in just a few months. But, he was a wild card, like I stated earlier he was not part of our friend

Langston Hughes Landlord
One would be hard pressed to find a more influential Harlem Renaissance author than Langston
Hughes. His work left an impressive mark on society during the 20th century in a time full of heated
social injustice, especially towards African Americans. His poem Ballad of the Landlord passionately
illustrates the inequality that far too many experienced during that time, and even rings with an eerie
amount of truth today. Ballad of the Landlord, tells the woes of a frustrated black tenant in an urban
ballad form that is both humorous and yet sobering. The literal context of Hughes poem is quite
obvious. Beginning the poem there is a tenant who is struggling to get repairs made to his rental

the police who swiftly come to his aide and haul the defeated tenant to jail. The last stanza, as short as

The Ethics Of Computer Ethics Essay
Computer Ethics Computer ethics is a branch of applied ethics that considers ethical issues raised or
significantly amplified by computer technology. Moor (2006). Its been stated in several works that
computers give people power, which means people have the choice to use this wisely and ethically.
While society has benefited from this power , there are still ethical concerns that need attention such
as privacy of data, security, reliability of data, intellectual property, and accessibility. Mark D. Bowles,
Deborah G. Johnson, and H. Lodewyckx all have given their points of view on this wide spread topic,
that all seem to have a common ground when it comes to the basic concerns of ethics in computing. In
the first chapter of Introduction to digital literacy Bowles highlights five most common ethical issues
related to the emergence of computers in society. He states that even though computers were a type of
power that they should not be treated any differently from any other technology. With the five issues
that he lists, he gives a short explanation of each. In the article Ethics Online by Deborah G Johnson,
she breaks down special characteristics of communication in networks describing the benefits and
ethical concerns of each. Johnson also states that with technology emerging so fast the law and
technological systems will not be able to control human behavior, which she claims the major problem
to be. She thinks that the only hope for society is for the individuals

TO THE VIRGINS, TO MAKE MUCH OF TIME and TO HIS COY MISTRESS
PAGE 271 Exercise 1 7
1. In To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time and To His Coy Mistress, what do Herrick and Marvell
say about time and its effects on youth and beauty? Herrick s poem is a warning to young, beautiful,
unmarried women to make the most of their time and marry young. He does not address it to any
particular woman, other than young virgins. He uses to metaphor to compare the women s youthful
beauty to flowers that will begin to die as they age. Meanwhile, Marvell s poem is a bit more personal.
It s actually a seduction poem and the narrator is speaking directly to his coy (shy) mistress. He is

* The use of the word all in line 41 is, almost by definition, an example of hyperbole. * The use of the
verb tear in line 43 also sounds hyperbolic.
5. The image of the sun appears in both To the Virgins (line 5) and To His Coy Mistress (line 45). How
does each poet use the reference to the sun? How would you paraphrase the last two lines of Marvell s
To His Coy Mistress ?
In both poems there is a sense of urgency. Certainly, the theme of carpe diem is in Herrick s verse as
he utilizes the sun and its measure of a day as a metaphor for the swift passage of time. Even though
Herrick and Marvell take different approaches toward the sun as a timekeeper, both their poems stress
the need to enjoy love while there is yet time.
6. In two or three sentences, explain how the difficult existence described in Give Us This Day Our
Daily Bread (see the Connection on page 269) corresponds to your previous notion of life in the late
1500s. In light of this information, what is surprising or, perhaps, not surprising about the visions of
life presented in the pastoral poems you have just read?
Give us this day our daily bread is from the Bible. It is from Matthew 6:11. The prayer is asking God
to provide people with the simple things they need for day to day living. Life in the late 1500 s was
very hard and people wanted for food.

same for writing. While I have a weak spot in writing and having a literacy sponsor to guide them
through it results in becoming a stronger writer. In eighth grade, my English teachers main focused
seemed to be more on expanding our vocabulary. Every week the class learned a new word and
studied the definition, using it in sentences, and some of the synonyms. While in ninth grade the
teacher focused more on stories, like Romeo and Juliet or To Kill a Mockingbird and having the
student summarized what we have read. As I reached tenth grade my English teacher spent a lot of our
class time learning the grammar rules. We learned things like the semi colon, colon, and commas. If I
would have a different teacher for any of these classes than I could be lacking a skill that I have
learned in these class or repeating the skills that I already

Examples Of Intellectual Oppression In Inherit The Wind
Challenging Intellectual Oppression
Throughout the history of the United States, there have been many issues that have impacted the
future of American life. In 1925, in the small town of Dayton, Tennessee, a local school teacher went
on trial for teaching evolution in the local school. Twenty five years later, Senator Joseph McCarthy,
began the movement known as the red scare in which he began to pick out Communists in the
community. Both of these instances initiated much questioning of civil rights, and civil liberties.
Through the play Inherit the Wind, the two playwrights Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, show the
dangers of intellectual oppression with the Story of Bert Cates, and the well known monkey trial . In
the small town of Hillsboro, a well known school teacher is put on trial for teaching evolution in the
local school. Matthew Harrison Brady, a three time presidential candidate, comes to prosecute Bert
Cates. While Henry drummond, his direct opposite, comes to defend Mr. Cates and the freedom to
think. E.K. Hornbeck, a big city skeptic, travels to Hillsboro to document the trial, and write about it
in the Newspaper. Bert Cates companion, Rachel, models the type of progressiveness that the two
playwrights hope Americans can learn from. In this allegorical play Lawrence and Lee s use of
symbolic characters challenges the status quo and inspires American intellectual growth.
Through Rachel, a person who represents someone who is willing to listen to

Character Development In Red Cranes By Heber Obando
Heber Obando The different approaches that both of the authors had on the stories had a different
impact on how the characters developed throughout the story. They used different methods to show
character development. The used elements in different ways to show how their characters in the short
story develope in a different way.
Mie talking to her father about how his work is going showing the interaction with the other characters
in the story. Father, said Mie as she sat beside him, How is the work going today? Do you think the
plants will be ready to harvest in time? (Choy 2). She is going on a firefly hunt with other people after
she gets on the train that she has been on all day. She had risen early, she had been rocked and jolted
by train and automobile through the heat of the day, and in the evening she had chased over the fields

Vodka Memories of My Past
I have come to the conclusion that the past, which is merciless and perilous, is a foreign country, and it
cannot be altered. The past lives differently from the present, just as the future will live differently
from the very moment you begin to breathe air. Yet somewhere in the back of my mind is this
obsession. Whether this obsession has been drawn from the idea that my future will stay the same as
this exact moment is speculation, which I shall ignore till the day I die.
The other day I was looking at a ship, now in dreams ships can be glorious and beautiful or they can
hold every shattered dream. You can watch them sail away with distain, or pleasure. It s been long told
that if you see a ship in the distance, all of your dreams and aspirations sit staring back at you. But the
ships already gone you can t chase those dreams as you can in the movies, when the girl runs after the
train, praying that the man will see and get off.
I have a single packet of cigarettes, sitting in the middle of an empty room. Yes, they are for
emergencies. That one moment that I feel myself break and I mean truly break, I shall rush to this
room, and smoke a single, savoured cigarette that will clear all my urges. That single cigarette is my
fresh start, turning over the page, and getting ready to stain the whiteness with a tea stain, ringing the
corner, and destroying the purity.

Leading A Team Into Change
Change is unavoidable, it is a transformation of one thing into another. In the year 1990, Peter Senge
said that we need to start acting like gardeners and stop thinking like mechanics in order for big
companies to change (Webber, A. 1999). As a leader of an inter disciplinary team, I am responsible for
the rehabilitation of clients into their homes. Our company have just secured a new contract from the
Ministry of Health and needs to widen the scope of its services. As of the moment, we have 12 staff
and the management advised me that we can employ 8 more staff. Therefore, I need to decide the
health care services and the qualities of the new employees that we will hire. This paper will tackle
about leading a team into change. Rehabilitation as defined by World Health Organization (2014) is a
process aimed at enabling the people with disabilities to maintain and reach their optimal physical,
intellectual, psychological, sensory and social functional levels. It provides people with disability the
tools that they need in order for them to have self determination and independence. Moreover, this
also includes the successful and productive interaction of many stakeholders such as clients that
includes Maori and the Pacific Islanders and family, therapists, doctors, nurses, caregivers, social
support workers, psychologists, dieticians and speech and language therapists. Our company is

Tax Assessment And Its Effects On Today s Taxation Policy...
Tax assessment has always been a hotly debated issue in economic. We all know that it costs a lot to
run a household. In the same sense, it costs a lot of money for a government to run a country. This is
why taxation is necessary. Through taxation, a government can compensate their spending and fund
the social services that benefit most of the society. High tax can compensate the government spending
while may curb investment. A question always being raised is that how to impose an appropriate and
efficient tax without harming our economy and what subjects are best to be taxed. We can find the
answer from the analyses on different approaches to taxation by Adam Smith and David Ricardo
throwback a century ago. Their analyses still have a far reaching impact on today s taxation policy.
Adam Smith discusses different strategies for levying a tax in his book Wealth of Nations . Smith calls
attention to that the state can raise money through five different channels: taxes on the rent of land,
taxes upon the rent of the house, taxes upon profit, taxes upon the wages of labour and taxes upon
consumable commodities. One way for Smith to evaluate those five different taxation channels is that
whether they satisfy the four basic maxims for taxation he made. For a tax to be considered good and
efficient, it needs to meet the following four basic principles raised by Smith:
I. The subjects of every state outhg to contribute towards the support of the government, as

Specificity
Specificity: There are general or global demands that all human beings need to have general strength
and power, good posture, core stability, mobility, and stability at all of the major joints. These
components are all requirements for a healthy and functional body, especially in an athletic
environment. All human beings squat as every single day activity. Picking up a box? Getting up or
sitting down? Starting your lawn mower? That is a single arm row, using both back and core muscles
to generate rotational power. Carrying groceries in from the car? That is a farmer s walk, which places
a huge demand on the core and upper back (Wilmore Costill 2005).
The concept of Specificity simply states that training bouts must go from highly general training
sessions to highly specific training sessions. The concept of Specificity also implies that athlete
become better at a particular and specific exercise or skill, athlete must perform that highly specific
exercise or skill (verywell).
The training sessions must be specific not only to athlete s sport/skills but to athlete s individual
abilities (recoverability, tolerance to training stress, outside obligations, etc) (fitstar).
Specificity also means that to become better at a particular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Athletes are working multiple muscles in a squat. Single joint exercises tend to isolate a muscle. Using
the legs extension (athlete s quadriceps) are doing the work, which can lead to muscle imbalances and

sports, movements. In real life we use many muscles and joints in very rapid succession to move. We
should keep this in mind when we select our exercises during training (Wilmore Costill

Nicole s lymph nodes were swollen because of follicular hyperplasia in the cortex from an increase in
B cell activation (larger population) due to autoantigen stimulation, as well as an increased number of
plasma cells in the medulla secreting immunoglobulin.
9. Describe the concept of epitope spreading in SLE.
At later stages of an autoimmune disease such as SLE, autoreactive lymphocytes may begin to target
self antigens. An autoreactive helper T cell specific to only one antigen, may then activate DNA
specific B cells that produce autoantibodies with more than one different specificities. As more
antigen is released and more antigen presenting cells become involved, secondary targets become
more prevalent. Thus, a B cell activated by a singularly specific T cell may become activated by

Benefits Of Good Oral Hygiene Essay
Introduction
The advantages of good oral hygiene can help prevent existing and prevalent dental problems,
primarily plaque and calculus, which are the major causes of caries (cavities) and tooth decay. Dental
caries are not only found in the adolescent population, but are also found in adults, due to gums
receding throughout the aging process. This exposes the roots of teeth to the different types of bacteria
that cause plaque and tooth decay. To be sure, seniors with poor health are no exception to dental
caries and are often the most affected due to low fluoride use and/or poor oral care during
adolescence. However, while dental caries and tooth decay are the most prominent topics of oral
health, there is also a close connection association between poor dental care and overall health. Poor
oral health can cause severe consequences in people with cardiovascular disease (CHD) due to the
bacteria and periodontal diseases found in gums that enter the bloodstream and thus, into the heart,
causing atherosclerosis. Another outcome of poor dental care is the increased risk of bacteria from
gingivitis, called spirochetes, entering the brain through the bloodstream. This can eventually lead to
the progression of Alzheimer s disease or dementia. Periodontal disease and gum inflammation the
inflammation of gums can also interfere with blood sugar levels and can cause symptoms to rise in
diabetic patients. In addition, the increased risk of respiratory infections like pneumonia, which

The Original General Model Of Memory Essay
The original general model of memory was proposed by Richard Atkinson and Richard Shiffrin in
1968. The Attkinson Shiffrin theory of human memory states that human memory can be classified
into three components: sensory memory, short term memory, and long term memory (Atkinson,
Shiffrin, 1968). Sensory memory is where sensory information is brought into memory and
maintained by the senses. For instance, when a person perceives an environmental stimulus for a short
time before it fades, the object is still preserved in the memory for a short amount of time. Although
our minds store significant amounts of information through our senses, we still can t process the
majority of it accurately because of limitations of the memory. Therefore, information which can t be
instantly attended to is stored in our sensory memory for a short time (Atkinson, Shiffrin, 1968). There
are two aspects of sensory memory: iconic and echoic memory. Iconic memory pertains to the
memory of sight, whereas echoic memory relates to the memory of sound. Despite the fact that most
of the information in sensory memory begins to diminish, some of the information is attended to. The
information that is attended is transported over to to the short term store, also known as short term
memory . The purpose of short term memory is to remember an insubstantial amount of information
for a short period of time (Atkinson, Shiffrin, 1968). The information stored in short term memory has
a longer duration than

Racial Profiling
Racial Profiling has been around for many decades, but over the past few years it has gotten even
worse. It has gotten to the point where children are supposed to be the most comfortable and open.
Also, it has gotten to the point where even children s sports games are having a racial issue. Children
shouldn t feel like outsiders, just because of the color of their skin. Lastly, they shouldn t they should
stop doing what they love the most just because someone out there is making a racial or racist
statement.
There are two sides to every issue in life. There are people that are for that issue and there are people
that are against it. The issue that I am trying to prove today is how exactly did basketball become the
metaphor for racial profiling in the Kentucky Community? In Us Against The World the kids that were
being transferred to Cordia High School were black and they came there for basketball. That actually
wasn t the case for most of them. Most of the boys that transferred was to leave a bad situation back in
New York.
For example, Ramon Mercado aka Momo moved to Kentucky to attend Cordia because he was trying
to get away from a profile that he didn t that he didn t fit back home. But he didn t know that he would
be but right back into another profile when he started playing basketball for Cordia. Momo used to
live in the lower Manhattan of New York, where his profile was either sale drugs and rob people or die
trying. So him moving and attending Cordia was a

This philosophy is now generally accepted as the ideal business model of the 21st century and
replaces the mass production philosophy of the previous century. On the website
www.1000advices.com Mr. Vadim Kotelnikov, Inventor of inspirational Business e Coaching states
that the lean production philosophy is about doing more with less: less time, inventory, space, labor,
and money. Lean manufacturing , a shorthand for a commitment to eliminating waste, simplifying
procedures and speeding up production (www.1000advices.com).
At its very core, this philosophy employs a systematic approach to the elimination of waste in seven
key areas. These areas could be summarized as eliminating overproduction and producing only what
customers need; eliminating unnecessary delay, down or idle time; streamlining inventory processes to
eliminate unnecessary purchasing and storing of raw materials; prevent over processing by removing
any unnecessary steps in processes or procedures; streamlining the motion/movement of people and
equipment; eliminating transportation delays and unnecessary material handling and reducing
defective products and the cost to repair/replace them (www.1000advices.com).
As is obvious by now, there are clear differences between typical production process and the lean
production model. Suited for the mass production strategy of the last century, the manufacturing cycle
of the typical production process primarily engages in cost accounting whether periodic or

Strategic Management at Brewery Industries
Global forces and the European brewing industry
This case is centred on the European brewing industry and examines how the increasingly competitive
pressure of operating within global markets is causing consolidation through acquisitions, alliances
and closures within the industry. This has resulted in the growth of the brewers reliance upon super
brands.
In the first decade of the twenty first century, European brewers faced a surprising paradox. The
traditional centre of the beer industry worldwide, and still the largest regional market, Europe, was
turning off beer. Beer consumption was falling in the largest markets of Germany and the United
Kingdom, while burgeoning in emerging markets around the world. China, with 7 ... Show more

that whenever the next craze arrives, are the first to say I liked that before it was cool . Everything
about a hipster has been perfectly crafted to give off an illusion that they just don t care. Hipsters tend

How The Internet Has Transformed The Ways Of Communicating...
The Internet has transformed the ways of communicating and learning ways of the prior years.
Electronic mail, also known as email, has existed ever since the Internet was invented, to send
messages from one computer to another. One remarkable invention was the Project Gutenberg of 1971
which is about placing books and documents in a public domain that can be accessed electronically for
free. The Internet is a channel for interaction and collaboration of different individuals using the
computer or any advanced technology that is being used nowadays regardless of the geographical
location of an individual. According to research, the Internet was first used in the year 1969 by the
Advanced Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET) to run on packet switching technology for
the computers in Stanford and UCLA for the first time, and was later developed by different research
groups.
In the past, during the time when the Internet has not yet existed, studying was mostly concentrated on
learning from books and teachers. Students relied on books for references and conducted interviews to
know the opinions of others. They used encyclopedias, dictionaries, different thesis papers and
magazines as their primary source of other information. Before, students needed to go to the library to
borrow books as their reference, but nowadays, students don t have to go to the library to look for
different references because they can use the Internet to find answers and examples that can help

  • 2. Premature Infant Observation Having the opportunity to watch a child grow over this past semester was a real eye opener. I was able to see this particular infant hit a couple of developmental milestones for her age. My environment was the Infant B classroom having infants ages, 6 months to 12 months. My particular target child was almost one when I started analyzing her. Talking to the caregivers, I found that she was premature and has a twin brother. I was able to watch the infant go from not being able to eat off a spoon, only be able to sit in a bouncer and not being to crawl at all to being able to slowly each from a spoon, put one foot in front another while a caregiver holding her hands and become mobile crawling a way that benefits her. Being a premature infant, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Compare and Contrast of the Classical School of Management... Compare and contrast of the classical school of management and the human relations school of management The classical or traditional approach to management was generally concerned with the structure and the activities of formal organization. The utmost importance in the achievement of an effective organization were seen to be the issues such as the establishment of a hierarchy of authority, the division of work, and the span of control. The classical management focuses on the efficiency and includes scientific, bureaucratic and administrative management. The scientific approach required several major principles in its application to management: 1st develops a science for each operation to replace opinion and rule of thumb. 2nd ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Offices are highly specialized. Appointments to these offices are made according to specialized qualifications rather than ascribed criteria. All of these ideal characteristics have one goal, to promote the efficient attainment of the organization s goals. Some have seriously misinterpreted Weber and have claimed that he liked bureaucracy, that he believed that bureaucracy was an ideal organization. Others have pronounced Weber wrong because bureaucracies do not live up to his list of ideals . Others have even claimed that Weber invented bureaucratic organization. But Weber described bureaucracy as an ideal type in order to more accurately describes their growth in power and scope in the modern world. His studies of bureaucracy still form the core of organizational sociology. Weber s discussion of authority relations also provides insight into what is happening in the modern world. Weber distinguished three main types of authority: Traditional authority, Rational legal authority and Charismatic authority. Administrative management is a style of management that focuses on principles to be used by managers to co ordinate the internal activities of the total organization. This theory was developed by Henri Fayol (1841 1925) to be taught to individuals with administrative responsibilities, which lead to the five major functions of managerial activities, planning, organizing, commanding, ... • 4. Explain The Five Steps Of Correcting The Pao2 Level Step one of the five steps approach to interpret the above values is to look at the PaO2 level which is currently 70. Since the normal level is between 80 to 100 mm hg, the current PaO2 of 70 means Mary is experiencing hypoxemia. However, the patient s current oxygen delivery is at 100% thus the nurse needs to continue to monitor the patient closely. A strategy to correct the PaO2 level is correcting the PaCO2 level first because as CO2 rises, PaO2 falls. The nurse can adjust the PEEP level and can be increased to 6 or 7cm H20 since that will help keep the alveoli open to better the oxygenation for the patient so we are able to eventually decrease the delivered O2 to protect the patient from any possible oxygen toxicity. The second step is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. My Development As A Psychologist Chapter 42 Dr Gordon Mangan Dr Mangan was far more influential in my development as a psychologist than I realised when I was a student. I must confess that I didn t warm to him as a teacher. When I peruse his publications it seems amazing that I cant find a full biography or bibliography of Mangan anywhere on the net. I am happy to fill that gap now. It is high time. Dr Mangan has a rare scientific talent that enables him to originate and follow uncommon ideas to their conclusion and then substantiate his remarkable ideas with clear theorising and hard experimental data. An overview of his publications might lead to the impression that he deliberately chose areas that were neglected and controversial. He devoted half a decade of his early career to parapsychology, publishing innovative research and clearheaded reviews. He devoted the later part of his career to research in smoking funded by the tobacco industry. He had a lasting interest in Russian psychology particularly Pavlov and the neo Pavlovians. A considerable amount of his work is devoted to drawing parallels between Eastern and Western conceptualisations of personality, learning and arousal which culminated in an influential book The Biology of Human Conduct: East West Models of Temperament and Personality . As well as these three areas he published on a broad range of topics including intelligence, aging, learning, conflict, behaviour therapy, personality, attention, music and arousal. The following ... • 6. Oil Spills From An Off Shore Oil Rig Background The oil spills from an off shore oil rig or tanker can do tremendous damage to the esosystem in the area of the spill and expand over vast regions to affect coastlines and indigenous wildlife hundreds of miles away. Cleaning oil spills, especially in a marine environment is important and it is a challenging task. The methods currently used to clean oil in water can be divided into following categories: using booms and skimmer; using oil solidifier and dispersants; adding biological agents to speed up the oil breakdown; or in situ burning of oil spills. However, only the skimmers were designed to recover the spill oil.1 When oil is skimmed from the surface water, much of the recovered material is water. Thus, the storage container fill up with more water than the actual oil. For example, a weir skimmer generally recovers 70% water and 30% oil.1 To help make storage space available for actual oil, the recovered water may be decanted back into the surface water where it was collected. The collection of oil using hydrophobic/oleophilic material is preferred because it allows for the proper disposal of oil and does not cause secondary pollution. The combat global scale water pollution arising from oil spills and industrial organic pollutant, the development of efficient absorbent material to efficiently separate and remove oil and organic pollutants from water should be of great significance in addressing the environmental issue. • 8. Important Aspects Of Teaching And Coaching Important Aspects of Teaching and Coaching When a sports highlight of a great play showcasing teamwork is watched on a highlight reel, what is the immediate reaction, that play was amazing. Great teams make great plays and often those successful plays transpire to playing field or court due to many hours of practice, handwork, repetition and dedication. Those plays didn t just miraculously happen. Someone had to draw the game plan up and then figure out the most innovative way instill that play and game plan while catering to all of the attributes and learning abilities of their athletes in order to maximize on those abilities and talents. The same goes for classroom instruction. Teachers have the monumental task of understanding the social, cultural and cognitive behaviors of all their students. Teachers and coaches have to continue to remain flexible and be open to changes in teaching theories and techniques. The first line of education other than what is learned at the student s home is from a teacher and a coach. It is highly important for teachers and coaches to be prepared and ready to shape these minds positively and to prepare students to be productive members in society. Coaching and teaching have many aspects in common and one helps augment the other nicely. • 9. Relationship Between Media And Relationships Graeme Wright Emma Hudelson 11/15/17 FYS Media and Relationships Media has existed in our lives for centuries. It is a continuously developing force that has taken over our world today. In recent history, films were one of the most popular sources of media and highly influential on the minds of many throughout the world. It gave people certain ideals and stereotypes of how things should be. Today, film is not the only prominent media source, social media has made its mark. Mark Zuckerberg s creation of Facebook was the first major type of social media when it was released in 2004. Since then, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat have become the three most prominent sources of social media that follow in facebook s footsteps. According to Statista , Humans consume over 12 hours of media each day. The 12 hours we spend on media is full of possible love damaging influences. The view of real love has been altered in recent years due to fake love. According to Chuck Klosterman, the media has affected the way that humans interpret love in a negative light but, while this is the case, it s also imperative to show that people can differentiate between what is fake and what is real. Social media is a common culprit of permitting fake love. Millennials are the up and coming crop of people looking for love. Social media plays a major role in the lives of these teens and young adults, which can negatively impact their chances of finding real love. Facebook negatively influences ... • 10. Viderunt Omnes Analysis In this documentary, Howard details the wide range of music that has existed and how it has evolved throughout the centuries. He reminds us how fortunate we are to have these different genres of music readily available on the internet. He makes a point that people back then were lucky to hear their favorite symphony at least five times in their lives. This fact made me realize how unappreciative we have become of music. We should be taking advantage of the opportunity to be able to experience music from different centuries and countries. Personally, I always considered music to be a leisure activity used in order to pass time. It was interesting to find out that during the Stone Age, music was used for serious matters. Whistles and flutes were found in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Pérotin was a French composer of the twelfth century who was well known for using multiple voices and having composed extremely complex and creative chords. In his hymn titled Viderunt Omnes you can clearly hear the layering of multiple voices. I agree with Howard when he says this song has a jaunty rhythm and weirdly effective harmonies. Although this song sounded strange and disorganized, it was still pleasing to listen to. The notation of the song was intense. There was so much going on and the notes were so compact. It was impressive listening to the choir perform such a complex song. Howard made me realize how lucky we are to be able to have access to a variety of music. I was surprised that I was able to enjoy music from thousands of years ago. After watching the documentary, I feel more informed about the history and evolution of music. When looking at multiple centuries, it is becomes clearer to see that there has been a huge progression of music and instruments. Music will undoubtedly continue to make advancements. It will be interesting to see what kind of instruments are going to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Moral Judgment On Human Behavior Everyday we come across situations where we have to make decisions. When we are in engaged in the decision making process, we often rely on our morals. One s moral judgment on something is a reflection of what they believe is right versus wrong, good versus bad, and just versus unjust in regards to human behavior. Their morals are essentially shaped by their upbringing and their personal experiences. For example, social norms that society labels as acceptable, cultural practices that one is engaged in, along with religious beliefs are all things that can shape ones morals and help create ones ethical judgment. It is a personal and custom map that each person follows in order to distinguish, consciously after evaluating a situation or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, this moral principle challenges the MCM because it does not level the playing field in regards to comparison amongst various cultures or political situations. Ethical Subjectivism is the idea that our moral opinions are based on our feelings and nothing more. There is no such thing as objective right or wrong. (Rachels 33). The general population believes that the racial hating actions of the Ku Klux Klan are irrational and immoral. However, since it is solely based on feelings and not objectivism, the Ku Klux Klan feels that their actions are completely moral. The key flaw here with this moral principle is that it does not account for moral truths and falsehood and it cannot account for the place of reason in ethics (Buscani). By not supporting reasoning and impartiality, Ethical Subjectivism challenges the MCM. Divine Command Theory revolves around the nature of right and wrong. In Judaism, Christianity and Islam, God is conceived as the lawgiver and we choose to accept or reject his commandments , so if we are to live as we should, we should follow God s laws (50). This theory ties morality to religion. However, there are complications with this principal. Atheists would not accept this because they do not believe in a God, so other things shape their morals. Additionally, you cannot pick and choose what rules you want to follow. This principle only works if all of the rules are followed. It is evident that difficulties exist for ... • 12. Machines Overcoming Humans As one would begin to think, about how much technology we humans use daily, they realize just how much we are in need of it. As people, look back in time over the generations to where we no technology to whereas now almost everything you come across you can find on the internet or on a system. When reading The Machine Stops, it shows the reader just how naïve people are to how much technology they use. People are so use to just having it that they do not even think about how much it consumes their lives. As I have learned, in the past couple of months just how much we humans are as a cyborg, made me just as gullible as people are to how much technology consumes our lives. When first thinking about the concept of us humans are as cybernetic organisms I was skeptical about the concept and did not believe we were as cybernetic organisms. As looking to see what a cybernetic organism is, I found they are a human who has certain biological developments assisted or controlled by mechanical or electronic devices. When learning that was the meaning I began to think us humans are as cybernetic organisms. My first reading on the thoughts of cyborg, was You Are Cyborg, written by Hari Kunzru, writing to Donna Haraway who does believe we humans are cyborgs. As one reads You Are Cyborg, who sees that Donna Haraway, is not saying that we humans are physically cyborgs that are all mechanically made but that we are consumed by technology making us cybernetic organisms. • 13. What Is The Snapchat-Personal Narrative When March 5th finally arrived we had a lot of preparations to tend to. We were pretty sure the Mack s would leave at night, they told Alex they had a family birthday party to go to. Unlike past Fight Nights no invitations were sent out, everyone was invited. His work left an impressive mark on society during the 20th century in a time full of heated social injustice, especially towards African Americans. His poem Ballad of the Landlord passionately illustrates the inequality that far too many experienced during that time, and even rings with an eerie amount of truth today. Ballad of the Landlord, tells the woes of a frustrated black tenant in an urban ballad form that is both humorous and yet sobering. The literal context of Hughes poem is quite obvious. • 16. The Ethics Of Computer Ethics Essay Computer Ethics Computer ethics is a branch of applied ethics that considers ethical issues raised or significantly amplified by computer technology. Moor (2006). Its been stated in several works that computers give people power, which means people have the choice to use this wisely and ethically. While society has benefited from this power , there are still ethical concerns that need attention such as privacy of data, security, reliability of data, intellectual property, and accessibility. Mark D. Bowles, Deborah G. Johnson, and H. Lodewyckx all have given their points of view on this wide spread topic, that all seem to have a common ground when it comes to the basic concerns of ethics in computing. In the first chapter of Introduction to digital literacy Bowles highlights five most common ethical issues related to the emergence of computers in society. He states that even though computers were a type of power that they should not be treated any differently from any other technology. With the five issues that he lists, he gives a short explanation of each. In the article Ethics Online by Deborah G Johnson, she breaks down special characteristics of communication in networks describing the benefits and ethical concerns of each. Johnson also states that with technology emerging so fast the law and technological systems will not be able to control human behavior, which she claims the major problem to be. Certainly, the theme of carpe diem is in Herrick s verse as he utilizes the sun and its measure of a day as a metaphor for the swift passage of time. In the same sense, it costs a lot of money for a government to run a country. This is why taxation is necessary. Through taxation, a government can compensate their spending and fund the social services that benefit most of the society. High tax can compensate the government spending while may curb investment. A question always being raised is that how to impose an appropriate and efficient tax without harming our economy and what subjects are best to be taxed. We can find the answer from the analyses on different approaches to taxation by Adam Smith and David Ricardo throwback a century ago. Their analyses still have a far reaching impact on today s taxation policy. Adam Smith discusses different strategies for levying a tax in his book Wealth of Nations . Smith calls attention to that the state can raise money through five different channels: taxes on the rent of land, taxes upon the rent of the house, taxes upon profit, taxes upon the wages of labour and taxes upon consumable commodities. One way for Smith to evaluate those five different taxation channels is that whether they satisfy the four basic maxims for taxation he made. Specificity Specificity: There are general or global demands that all human beings need to have general strength and power, good posture, core stability, mobility, and stability at all of the major joints. These components are all requirements for a healthy and functional body, especially in an athletic environment. All human beings squat as every single day activity. Picking up a box? That is a farmer s walk, which places a huge demand on the core and upper back (Wilmore Costill 2005). • 29. Benefits Of Good Oral Hygiene Essay Introduction The advantages of good oral hygiene can help prevent existing and prevalent dental problems, primarily plaque and calculus, which are the major causes of caries (cavities) and tooth decay. Dental caries are not only found in the adolescent population, but are also found in adults, due to gums receding throughout the aging process. This exposes the roots of teeth to the different types of bacteria that cause plaque and tooth decay. To be sure, seniors with poor health are no exception to dental caries and are often the most affected due to low fluoride use and/or poor oral care during adolescence. However, while dental caries and tooth decay are the most prominent topics of oral health, there is also a close connection association between poor dental care and overall health. Poor oral health can cause severe consequences in people with cardiovascular disease (CHD) due to the bacteria and periodontal diseases found in gums that enter the bloodstream and thus, into the heart, causing atherosclerosis. Another outcome of poor dental care is the increased risk of bacteria from gingivitis, called spirochetes, entering the brain through the bloodstream. • 30. The Original General Model Of Memory Essay The original general model of memory was proposed by Richard Atkinson and Richard Shiffrin in 1968. The Attkinson Shiffrin theory of human memory states that human memory can be classified into three components: sensory memory, short term memory, and long term memory (Atkinson, Shiffrin, 1968). Sensory memory is where sensory information is brought into memory and maintained by the senses. For instance, when a person perceives an environmental stimulus for a short time before it fades, the object is still preserved in the memory for a short amount of time. Although our minds store significant amounts of information through our senses, we still can t process the majority of it accurately because of limitations of the memory. Therefore, information which can t be instantly attended to is stored in our sensory memory for a short time (Atkinson, Shiffrin, 1968). There are two aspects of sensory memory: iconic and echoic memory. Iconic memory pertains to the memory of sight, whereas echoic memory relates to the memory of sound. Despite the fact that most of the information in sensory memory begins to diminish, some of the information is attended to. The information that is attended is transported over to to the short term store, also known as short term memory . The purpose of short term memory is to remember an insubstantial amount of information for a short period of time (Atkinson, Shiffrin, 1968).
