Creech, S. (1994). Walk two moons. New York: HarperCollins. Sal is on a journey, on a road her

for her mother s birthday, along with her are her funky grandparents. On the cross country drive

Throughout Sal s story she gives bits of her own life. How her and her father moved from

first kiss, school, and Pheobe s crazy mind. We come to find out her mother had given birth to a

Heartly House Executive Summary
Heartly House Charity Tree, December 2014, December 2015
Frederick, MD
Initiated and organized holiday fundraiser for two consecutive years at MAXIMUS Federal
Services and raised $1,200 in four weeks from gifts donated by employees. As part of my
assignment while employed with Kearney Company, P.C. (Kearney), I was assigned the
responsibility of acting as a member on the prime contractor s (MAXIMUS) Social Committee.
As an active member of the committee, my colleagues and I were tasked with promoting
collaboration amongst the subcontractors. While hosting a variety of events successfully boosted
morale throughout the office, the committee agreed that we should do more. As it was the
holiday season, we decided to display a giving tree in the office which had ornaments hanging on
it with different items requested by families in need currently staying at the Heartly House.
Located in Frederick, Maryland, the Heartly House provides comprehensive services for victims
and survivors of domestic violence. The tree was a great success. In just four short weeks, the
employees from all of the subcontractors united and purchased every item on the tree. The families
at the Heartly House were able to enjoy the holiday season because of the efforts of the Social
Committee and the collaboration amongst the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While at Kearney, I was responsible for responding accurately and timely to the external audit
teams requests while managing the database and repository which tracked and stored all audit
evidence. On a regular basis I had to plan and prioritize items. This meant I had to know the details
of every request, determine how quickly the items could be provided, and the amount of effort it
would take the organization to provide the documentation. It was essential for me to allow the
employees enough time to gather the evidence without burdening the system, while prioritizing the
items that needed to be provided

The First Day Of English Class
I look the first debate judge in the eyes and he nods. Then my gaze drifts to the second one and
she smiles. Finally I look to my right at my final judge, he simply winks at me. I close my eyes
and count to three. It s finally time to begin; this is my time. These next three minutes everyone has
to listen to me and my opinion. I open my mouth, but the only thought going through my head is,
why? Why am I doing this? Why am I here? Why did I make this mistake?
It was the first day of English class and the teacher asked, who here has ever given a class
presentation before? I looked around hoping, praying, that someone else is like me. However
fate was not on my side. Every hand in the class was proudly raised high and I was all alone on my
little island of fear. The teacher looked directly at me and asked why I had not ever done a
presentation. I m a clicker, I mumbled, it was barely audible but the teacher heard it and his face
softened. Well Mr. Peschansky it s time you become a talker.
A psychological study done in the early 70 s found that people are more afraid of public speaking
then of death. Standing at the front of the room in my first debate tournament I realize just how
true that is. All I can hear is my heart hammering away in my chest, my legs feel like they are
going to give and I m shaking all over.
I never opened my mouth when I was in grade school. I was the kid that was always reading. If
my head was not buried in a book then something was probably

How Did Chester A. Arthur The Principle Of American Politics
Chester A. Arthur: The Ripple of American Politics For my presentation, I would like to present a
president not known much in this time and age but one who, in 1880, made drastic changes to the
American government. This man was Chester A. Arthur. The following material is what I have
learned in American Government for only but one year, I have still learned more than what I
already knew at the beginning of my high school career. I have gained a better understanding of
the American political system as well as the history of the system. The second is that I can now
put everyday events that happen and see how they correlate to the political system which affects
everyday life. The last fundamental that I learned was how to do research. As I looked... Show more

It wasn t long until 4 months after Garfield s assassination in that same year that Arthur officially
became President. Some of the highlights of his term as president were the signing of the
Pendleton Civil Service Act which prohibited the firing of workers based on political reasons
and political donations from the employees. This act also allowed specific federal government
jobs be given based on how well an employee does instead of political connections. Another event
was his almost successful attempt to lower the tariffs. He vetoed the Chinese Exclusion Act of
1882, only to have the veto overrode by Congress. Militarily he wanted to have the
modernization of the U.S. Navy (. In conclusion, I applied what I have learned from American
Government to give an informative view into a president who had a somewhat important role in
the American political system 136 years ago which still applies to today. This in return was done
using the three skills I have learned: knowledge of the American political system as well as the
history of it, how the events correlate to today and how to research a

Exchange Student Essay
A good exchange student should possess many qualities, including respect, independence, and a true
interest in the other country s culture. I would consider myself to be a great exchange student
because I have these abilities and am able to adapt to new situations with ease. If an exchange
student just wants to travel to the exchange country because it is a vacation, they are completely
missing the point of this experience and consequently won t gain any benefit from it. Because of
this point, I would never invest my time and my parents money in something that I am not whole
heartedly behind. So in my opinion the most important quality an exchange student should possess
is reverence for the target countries culture, but that doesn t trump... Show more content on

Since this trip is international, personal interactions need to be a little more calculated until you are
more familiar with the cultural differences. A topic of discussion in the US could be completely
taboo in Germany, so before you make an interaction with a person you don t know in a certain
country, you should make sure you understand the do s and dont s of that country s culture.
Once these cultural differences are learned, you shouldn t be afraid of talking to people, because
the best way to get knowledge of the culture and life of Germans is to ask them yourself. Also it
the host country would be appreciative of you trying to learn their language, so speaking in
german sometimes is also a good way to interact. I have many values, the most important of
which are; loyalty, open mindedness, and passion. Loyalty is important to me, as it shows you
who your real friends are in times of struggle. Loyalty to someone isn t defined as always
hanging out with them, it is defined as being there for someone when they are at their worst, not
just their best. When going through life it is important to stay open minded because everyone
leads a different life, and it is ignorant to always look at life through one lense. When faced with
new situations, I stay open minded because trying new things is what makes life interesting and
not one constant buzz. Lastly I admire passion as a value, as it promotes success and adds
excitement to life. For

had thought that my dad new how to do anything, so when I approached him with my drawings
he would just laugh, we still have the pictures I made of some robots I wanted. For a 7th grade

How Patriotism Has Shaped American Culture
Patriotism is, per definition, devoted love, support, and defense of one s country. Since the
founding of our nation, it has been a prominent part of the American Culture. Patriotism is rooted
in values which include honor, loyalty, and bravery among others. There are many ways that an
American can show their pride. One of the biggest way to prove one s love for the nationis to
joining the military to defend our liberties. In America, there is even a holiday to celebrate
Patriotism. The Fourth of July celebrates America s independence and it often includes the
displaying of the American flag and respective merchandise, parades, political speeches, and
fireworks. Some people display different levels of patriotism and that can be conflicting... Show

In a society where everyone is watching and ready to point fingers, these groups of people may
receive more scrutiny. One example of people who may not display much patriotism is the
immigrant minority group. Devout Americans may think that immigrants and other minorities have
not adapted to the culture and therefore cannot understand American pride. They are often frowned
upon when they lack common knowledge of American history. People use this against them to
support their idea that this group of people may be unpatriotic. However, these immigrants and
minority groups have come to America chasing the American Dream. They have left everything
behind and come to an unknown place with nothing but dreams to become a part of the Land of
the Free. Immigrants seek asylum and citizenship in this great nation, in hopes to make it their
own and enjoy the rights that we celebrate. Moreover, there are true Americans who publicly defy
a sense of patriotism. For instance, when many NFL players decided to take a knee during the
national anthem, many were outraged by their lack of respect for the United States. While many
were angry, others showed solidarity and did the same when they found out the cause they were
speaking out about. Furthermore, when famous singers forget the words to the Star Spangled
Banner, they are always sympathized by the audience and still receive the applause. The

Sequency Hereditary Material
INTRODUCTION: Since days bygone, study of living beings required to break barriers of the
single cell and throw light into hereditary material, giving us great insights into nucleic acid
sequences. To face the challenges associated with various questions thrown at biology, great
advent was required to be made in the area of working out the correct order of how nucleic acids
are arranged in an array of genes to give rise to various phenotypes and often, its deviations.
Focus was to be shifted out of the wet laboratory and into silicon chips .Ever since the Thus, arose
the requirement of sequencing the hereditary material, knowing about the entire genetic content of
the organism or rather, it s genome and its analysis. With the help of sequencing a great number of
laboratories across the globe have conducted groundbreaking research and this very important
technique has been established as the basis of a plethora of investigations REASON BEHIND
CHOOSING GENOME ASSEMBLY: From research laboratories to personalized genome analysis,
genome sequencing and downstream processing of the sequenced data has become a mandate for
most biological experimentation. The complete genome sequence of Haemophilus influenzae by
TIGR in 1995 turned a lot of heads with the scope of studying actual relatedness between
organisms, their hereditary material, their genotypic data and biggest of all what advantage we can
derive of them. With the advent of geomic era,or the era of studying not ony

Holy Trinity
What is the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions the Trinity? Do Christians
have a good understanding of what it means to serve a Triune God? Do we explain ourselves in a
precise way or do we leave people with unanswered questions and confusion? I would like to
explore the historic, orthodox Christianityand the classic Wesleyan Arminian consensus beliefs on
the person of the Holy Spirit.
First let us seek what it is that the orthodox Christians and the Wesleyan Arminian believe according
to the Trinity.
Orthodox Christians believe in a single God who is both three and one (triune); the Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit, one in essence and undivided . The Holy Trinity is three unconfused and distinct divine
persons (hypostases), ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

this, The Spirit alone knows the mind of God, and that God knows the mind of the Spirit

Persons in a way that helps unify the church. He shows us the correct way to be relational with
each other. One cannot help but notice that the Holy Spirit is given to us to help us grow more
like Christ and become more the image of God by being our intercessor (Fee, 2011) because they,

Death And The King Horseman Analysis
In an interview with The Guardian (2009) Wole Soyinka explained that the motivation behind
writing Death and the King s Horseman was a bust of colonialist, Winston Churchill. To Soyinka,
Churchill signified the breaking of the Yoruba culture and traditions. The idea for the play came
from an instance during the colonial period in Nigeria, when the British intervened in the traditional
suicide of a king s horseman.
The title itself already makes reference to a Nigerian ritual in which the horseman of a king
must kill himself after the death of the king (McNulty, 2011:2). The biggest event of cultural
misunderstanding is evident in Act II when the British Officer, Pilkings, orders that Elesin Oba
(the horseman) be arrested. Joseph (the stableboy) tells the Pilkingses how it is tradition for the
king to be burried a month after his death but, before he can be burried, his dog, his steed and his
horseman must die to be able to accompany him to heaven. For long this tradition is questioned
and contested by the Pilkingses because how can something like that make sense to anybody? It
is only once Olunde shows up in Act IV that the playwright changes the context. Olunde compares
the suicide of the horseman to the mass killing of soldiers. He judges the Western customs of war
in the same way the Westerners criticized his traditions and people. And when Simon manages to
stop Elesin from killing himself, Olunde turns his back on his father at first, after which all the
people from the market insults Elesin. His failure in the task is seen as a weak will.
Another custom that is present is when, in Act II, the officer and his wife are getting ready for a
ball and Amusa shows up. Amusa refuses to speak to Pilkings because of his costume, a uniform
the Yoruban culturebelieves brings death. He tells Pilkings to put on other clothes as It is a matter
of death. How can a man talk against death to a person in uniform of death? p25. The British
officer cannot understand the rubbish because it is not part of his customs. To him it is clothing a
fun outift to wear to the ball with no abilitiy to cause death. But no matter how he tries to explain it,
Amusa keeps strong in his belief.
A simple thing to a Westerner, such as a

The Ugly Renaissance Discussion Of Italy
The Ugly Renaissance Discussion
1. Why did the Renaissance originate in Florence and prosper for so many years?
In many ways, Italy had benefits over northern Europe in detaching from the feudal system and
accumulating enormous amounts of wealth. I think that above all else, geography was Italy s anchor
in this respect. Being a projecting land mass sticking out into the Mediterranean Sea, and
beneficially located between the main part of Europe and the Byzantine Empire, cities within Italy
had little choice but to weave endeavors of commerce into every day life while engaging in the
market and foreign trade. Therefore, Italy became prone to the extensive continuity of goods and
novelties earlier than other European areas. Accordingly,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Florence was exposed to the principles and ideologies of foreign regions and immersed them into
the art and literature produced thereafter. That then percolated to the rest of the other European
nations and the rest of Italy itself. The Medici maintained these connections rooted and stable by
way of finance and politics and guaranteed that Florence, throughout the Renaissance, was an
advocate of the arts. Furthermore, had it not been for the establishment of a connection between the
Medici and the Papacy, Florence and Rome, it seems, may have actually been rivals grown under
the essence of partnership and collaboration during the Renaissance. Rome supplied many
Florentine artists with a harbor, and, in turn, Florence took advantage of the administration of the
papal funds.
2. What were the differences from the Middle Ages promoted by the Renaissance? Often, the
Renaissance is acknowledged as an era of artistic refinement. However, couldn t it also be said that
the Renaissance, for the most part, clung to the spiritual and religious motifs of the Middle Ages?
If so, what were the differences, during that period, from the Middle Ages as promoted by the
Renaissance?
Regardless of the likenesses to medieval art encircling subject matter and theme, Renaissance artists
undoubtedly interrupted the stagnant standards of medieval art. As previously stated, the themes of
the Middle Ages were rather consistent, but the Renaissance style was unprecedented in its

She plans her dinner parties very carefully ensuring that every invitee knows half of the list. This
creates a comfortable but also beneficial environment for all her attendees.
The main challenge Heidi faces in her way of networking is the resourcing. As Heidi s fundamental
success is based on performance and consistency, the time needed for Roizen to respond back at a
consistent time become overwhelming the more her network expands. In order to combat this,
Heidi has evolved to build network in the nuclei of other networks. She realized that like her, there
are many other people who have strong networking abilities. This enables her to only maintain those
connections and offload the ever increase of work that comes with networking.
Heidi s networking strategy with the New Valley Girls have many similarities but also many
differences. The similarities are the social events that Heidi holds in her households which attract
the A List of Silicon Valleyand providing a platform for these successful people to liaise out of the
business environment. Many of the New Valley Girls are also very powerful and well connected.
The main difference is Heidi s strategy does not only involve powerful people, she also maintains
her relationship with unknowns and upcoming entrepreneurs as she understands you never know
who these people may become.

Hypothesis Testing The Boiler Room Stats
Hypothesis Testing the Boiler Room Stats According to the manager four aspects require
evaluation from the statistics gathered for the week of calls made in the boiler room. The four
aspects are the basis for the hypothesis testing; the manager s suspicions are a) the null which are
as follows:
1.Hypothesis Test One
a)Null Hypothesis Ho=u Mean sales exceeds 41.5 sales per telemarketer
b)Alternative Ha=u less than 55% receiving online training
b)Alternative Ha=u or= 55% receiving online training
3.Hypothesis Test Three

b)Alternative Ha=u or= Mean calls among no training is 145
4.Hypothesis Test Four
a)Null Hypothesis Ho=u Mean time per call ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For hypothesis test two the manager suspects less than 55% of the 100 telemarketers received
online training. Looking at the type of training data; two types of training were offered and none at
all, provides the three options. Therefore, if those receiving either group training or none at all total
more than 45 telemarketers of the 100 sales people then the alternative hypothesis is accepted
because there is sufficient evidence to support it. If the manager s suspicions are true: the null
hypothesis that states there are less than 55% of the sales force who received online training is
true then there must be sufficient evidence to support that statement. 20 of 100 callers have no
training and 30 telemarketers received group training while 50 sales people received online
training according to the Excel data sheet provided. Therefore, 50% either received no training or
group training and 50% received online training. The manager s suspicions are supported. There is
sufficient evidence to support the null hypothesis and therefore the alternative is false. With
hypothesis test three the manager states the mean amount of calls made by those with no training
is less than 145 calls per person for the week of data recorded.
To prove the null; calls are less than 145 per person for those who are listed as no training or
none, the total amount of calls for the week made by the none group are divided by the 20
telemarketers to compute the mean

President Hoover And Franklin D. Roosevelt
During the 1920s, in the U.S. economy, stock prices were rapidly rising. Many people saw this as
an opportunity to invest their money into the market, and multiply their cash. Despite warnings of a
crash in the market, people kept on using their money even taking out loans to invest into the
rapidly increasing market. Nevertheless, on October 29, 1929 the stock exchange crashed, and
caused panic throughout the nation. This began an economic downturn that placed pressure on the
President of the United Statesto fix the situation. Although both Herbert Hooverand Franklin D.
Rooseveltwere President during one of the hardest economic times in the nation s history, there
are many differences in the approach each President took to attempt to fix The Great Depression,
which caused different changes in the economy. During Herbert Hoover s time in the White
House, is when disaster struck. Many people, at the time, believed that President Hoover was the
ideal person to have in office due to his background, and knowledge of economics. President
Hoover s understanding of economics is what initially allowed him to predict that a crash in the
nation s market was inevitable; yet, did not take any actions about it because he worried that when
the market went down, he would receive the blame. Nevertheless, when the market bust occurred,
President Hoover did take many incentives to attempt to fix the economy. Primarily President
Hoover called on people to engage in voluntary

While we refluxed the solution there was no color change, the solution stayed clear. After
gravity filtration the solution stayed clear. After roto vap, solution was a milky brown color. IR
spec data showed a weak OH peak as well as strong C O stretches around 1200 cm 1. V.
Discussion Questions: 1. Our percent yield for alcohol was 84.2% which is average. We rushed
through our vacuum filtration and probably did not let the solid dry long enough and might
have not transferred all of the solid to the vacuum filtration from the beaker. 2. The TLC results
showed two different spots that traveled different distances on the TLC plate, one for ethyl
vanillin and one for ethyl vanillin alcohol which proves there is no evidence of the starting
material in our final product. The product (ethyl vanillin alcohol) was more polar and interacted
more with the solvent than our starting material (ethyl vanillin). This increase in polarity is due
to the extra alcohol group in the ethyl vanillin alcohol and the smaller Rf value also indicates it
is more polar and pure than the ethyl vanillin. 3. The IR spectrum of the starting material shows
a medium/strong C O bond at around 1500cm 1, also the starting material shows a strong C H
bond at around 3000cm 1 and another medium C H bond at 2865cm 1 indicating an aldehyde
group whereas the product does not. The IR spectrum of the product shows a two weak broad O H

Health Care Conflict
Conflict naturally occurs in the health care environment. Conflict, in the right quality and quantity,
can produce growth. Conflict in large amounts, or if managed poorly can negatively impact
motivation and productivity (Marquis and Huston, 2015). Conflict resolution is critical to a
healthy work environment, because a breakdown in communication and collaborations can lead to
patient care errors (Johansen, 2012). Conflict I had a conflict with a peer over scheduling. We
were both weekend package, working 24 hour shifts. We shared the weekend hours equally by
alternating the days we worked. This peer announced at a staff meeting that she wanted to strictly
work every Sunday and have me work every Saturday. She said that since she had... Show more

As a nurse manager, if this problem were presented to me today, I would try to use collaboration to
address the issue. Getting both sides to recognize and work toward a common goal is important.
Although there are times when this approach may not work due to time constraints or other
reasons. My nurse manager also used the strategy of third party consultation. Marquis and Huston
(2015) suggest confrontation, third party consultation, behavior change, responsibility charting,
structure change, and soothing one party as strategies to manage conflict. This was an effective
strategy to use to assure her and the staff nurses that the conflict was being handled appropriately.
This would be a good technique for me to utilize, as it would give me reassurance of doing the
right thing. How Conflict Management Relates the Effective Leader The effective leader needs to
recognize conflict early, be proactive, actively listen, remain calm, define the problem, and seek a
solution (Johansen, 2012). The conflict I described took several weeks to come to a final solution.
The nurse manager handled the situation fairly, however the time it took to resolve the conflict
allowed for breakdown in the team morale. Unresolved conflict can lead to poor communication
and affect patient outcomes (Marquis Huston, 2015). Summary

Why We Should Have Sports In College
Sports play a huge role in our lives. Everyone enjoys a sport in their own different ways: some do
sports and others are just happy to watch it. Giving students opportunity to be part of sports in
college will definitely have positive sides on college as well as on students. As an example, we
can see how top colleges like Harvard or Stanford recruit young athletes. At the end, those athletes
are making names for the schools. However, in our collegesituation is totally different. Even if we
have established sports, they are not aimed to improve our college. However, we can reconstruct
athletics of our school, and it will positively affect students, college, and it s budget. It is not rare
that people become very successful thanks to sports.

For quite some time now the stock market and the dollar have been locked in a reverse correlation.
When the dollar went up the market went down and so forth.
In particular 2009 has seen that correlation play out in dramatic fashion. The stock market had a
bottom in November 2008 and then the final bottom of the bear market run down in March 2009.
The stock market as measured by the Dow 30 industrials bottomed in March at which time the
Dollar index negatively correlated by peaking in price. In all the retracements and minor
corrections that occurred, since then, in the Dow the dollar also experienced a similar but opposite
reaction.
Within the last week or so the dollar has begun to react with slightly more strength and the market
seems to be attempting to dislodge that inverse correlation between a falling dollar and a rising
market.
On Friday Dec. 4th. the Dow was up strongly in the morning with a rising dollar. In the weeks and
months prior to this if the dollar had risen strongly the market almost inevitably would have fallen.
The Dow did give back

Importance Of The Bill Of Rights
The first ten amendments are called the Bill of Rights they include the many freedoms people
have fought for to live in peace and without as many restrictions in their life. Passed by Congress
September 25, 1789 and later ratified in December 15, 1791. The first ten amendments are solely
based on basic freedoms. Varying from speech, trial by jury, and living without soldiers in their
own homes. Written by the great James Madison, he wrote after states were pushing for the
protection of individual freedoms. But Madison had an influencer when writing the paper, taking
off of The Virginia Declaration of Rights. The first ten amendments would be the building blocks on
limiting government powers. The Bill of Rights gives Americans protection... Show more content

These examples are only a few of the many rights to liberty, equality, and justice highlighted in the
Constitution and Bill of Rights that Americans claim as their heritage.
The American concept of a bill of rights can be traced all the way to England. In the Magna
Carta of 1215 and the English Bill of Rights of 1689, the British government ceded basic rights
to some of its citizens and, in so doing, restricted its own power to write and enforce laws . The
Magna Carta came about under the rule of England s 1167 1216 King John. When the despised
and politically feeble King John began to tax England s barons, they led a military revolt against
him . He swiftly surrendered and agreed to sign a document giving up some basic rights to free
men and limiting his authority to make laws. Although the Magna Carta did not guarantee the
sort of basic rights that are associated with our basic rights today, it established a basic code of
criminal justice and made the kind subject to his barons on some matters, such as tax law. More
sweeping was the English Bill of Rights in 1689, which came about following the Glorious
Revolution of 1688 . King James II, was a Roman Catholic king when Roman Catholicism was
both unpopular and restricted by law in England. Due to his pro catholic policies and his disregard
for Parliament, James was deposed following a bloodless coup .

Descriptive Essay On An Abandoned House
Hurry or you ll be late! called my mother from the bottom of the stairs. Today of all days you
want to be on time. If I had only known what that day would bring, I would have stayed in bed.
But one thing my mom didn t know was that my friends and I skipped school to go look at an
abandoned house. The house was also supposedly haunted.I met up with my friends at the bus stop
as usual. Once everyone was at the bus stop, we ran as fast as we could to the abandoned house.
So we wouldn t get caughtbe the bus driver or anyone else.
Once we ran for a short amount of time we finally saw the rundown house in the distance. Once
we got a little closer we saw a brown fence blocking our path. We walked around the fence until
we found a small opening. It was just big enough for us to get through. Once we all got through
the fence we could barely see the house, because the grass and weeds were so tall. We pushed our
way through the weeds and grass and finally made it to the back of the house. We tried to look
through the filthy windows, but they were boarded up. Before I opened the door, I asked
everybody Do we really want to do this? Alexis being the brave one said Just do it. Jada is the
scared one asked Are we really going to do this? And me being the curious one I wanted to see what
was inside the house. Once we got in the house we felt a cold burst of air.
We started walking around the dark and gloomy house with our phone flashlights on. We
stopped in are tracked when we heard a noise coming from the back of the house. We started
walking towards the back of the crummy house until we saw a dark figure walking towards the
stairs. Jada saw the dark figure and froze. Alexis and I had to pull her into the dirty closet so the
figure wouldn t see us. When we thought the coast was clear we peaked out the closet to see if the
figure was still there.
While we were in the closet, my shoe made an obnoxious noise on the I ground. Terror filled
inside me when I heard the creaky footsteps of the figure. When we heard the footsteps get louder
and louder. We decided to run for it. I opened the closet door and to my surprise, I saw the figure

Nozick s Version Of Libertarianism
Nozick s version of libertarianism says that what is controlled in society should be limited to
what are the essentials to keep society together. A majority of the services and basics that people
require to live can be provided by the private sector and not by the state that lead to unjust in the
distribution of goods and services. The services that should be left to the government according
to Nozick s belief are those of security such as the police and military and the enforcement of
common laws. These services are the basic essentials to what society needs to function with the
most liberty being passed on to the people. The private sector which consist of the majority of the
population will be the determining factor in deciding how services should be best executed to fit
their needs and desires. In terms of distribution Nozick believes that redistribution is unjust for the
reason that it is forced labor on the working people who in most cases do not consent to the
redistribution of their wealth. Nozick states in his view on Libertarianism that People have the right
to Liberty which in this case people should have the liberty to choose how their earnings are
distributed. Furthermore, according to Nozick, Libertarianism should reject the redistribution of
personal wealth. This statement is focus more of the earnings of people. Having a state that has an
uncontrolled power over the distribution of one s wealth can result in a structure that allows others

What Does It Mean To Be A Girl
It s a girl! Most parents fantasize about hearing those precious and promising words because soon a
little girl will make its way into their life and she will be sweet, innocent, and pure. Nothing will
hurt that child, but unfortunately those parents are blinded by the happiness of the moment and do
not realize that the little girlwill grow up and be worth less than her husband and she will be worth
less in society. In Merriam Webster s Unabridged Dictionary the word girl means a femalechild
from birth to adulthood, but in addition to this simple word there holds an immense amount of
meaning. Four letters and that s all it takes for someone to roll their eyes and laugh because that

As a girl you are expected to break, but in reality girls have to pretend nothing will break them or
they will again be judged by society. This tends to be the case because if a girl breaks it will just
add fire to the sexist prejudices put upon them as a gender. In Serena Nanda s article Arranging a
Marriage in India, she talks about her research in India, when a son s parents are looking for a
wife for their son they have a very long list of expectations. She should be from the same caste
system, pretty, not too intelligent, meshes with the family well, doesn t stray from home, nor
does she gossip or call home a lot, and the most important thing is that she is pure before
marriage. Though these expectations tend to look somewhat different in the U.S. they have the
same ideas. A girl should be boxed in away from society and taking care of the children or
perhaps being a good cook to put it into simpler terms because that is what society unfairly tells
us a girl should be able to do. Serena also talks about how it is very important for a girl to protect
the family name and in no way ever disgrace it. If that girl does disgrace the family (for example
not staying pure) it is not uncommon for her brother or even cousin to murder her. Why is a
family s expectations based on what a girl does? These unrealistic expectations push girls too far
and cause us to think our worth is less because we cannot do it all, even though society thinks that s
the least we could

Analysis Of Hester Street By Joan Micklin Silver
As John F. Kennedy famously stated, the United States of America exists as a nation of immigrants.
Besides those from Native American descent, every occupant of America can attribute their lineage
to ancestors who emigrated from another country and adopted America as their new home. Coming
to a new nation brings with it a series of difficulties, one of which is the struggle to find balance
between assimilationand the preservation of one s ethnic identity. Such a struggle is very present in
the romantic film Hester Street, directed by Joan Micklin Silver, detailing the lives of Jake and
Gitl, two Jewish immigrants living in New York during the early 20th century. Jake and Gitl each
maintain different attitudes toward assimilation, yet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hester Street does a good job of portraying this pressure, demonstrating its effects on specific
characters. After Gitl and Joey s arrival in New York, Jake takes the two, along with Bernstein to
a park outside the city. Pacing around while the other three sit under a tree, Jake exclaims: look
what a place is America, nu, Bernstein? (1:03:00) praising the scenic beauty of the little park, with
its bright sun, towering trees, and luscious grass. His acclaim of his surroundings represents his
sense of pride for the land around him, desiring to tout America to Bernstein, who less identifies
with American culture. Jake represents a very assimilated immigrant, further demonstrated in this
scene by his appearance. Walking around the three, Jake sports a striped, collared shirt and polka
dot tie underneath a snazzy pinstripe vest, as well as well fitted pants, and leather, lace up boots.
Also, besides his mustache, he is clean shaven and wears neat, slicked down hair. Jake s outfit and
hairstyle correspond with the average appearance of an American man of this time, representing his
embrace of American culture. As the shot switches between him, and Bernstein and Gitl, the stark
contrast in their appearances is accentuated, juxtaposing Jake s Americanized garb to the traditional
outfits of their native country of Russia. Bernstein s all black, 3 piece, wool suit, large

Hydraulic Fracturing And Its Effects On The Environment
Hydraulic Fracturing
Introduction
For this assignment I have chosen to look in to a subject that is in the news media spotlight. The
subject is the process of hydraulic fracturing. In this paper, we will learn about this process by
answering the following questions. First what is hydraulic fracturing and what is the process used
for. Then we will look at the actual process of hydraulic fracturing (how it works). Next we will
take a closer look at some of the chemical use during the hydraulic fracturing process. Then we
discuss the possible environmental impacts if any caused by hydraulic fracturing? Finally, we will
look some of the measures being developed to mitigate the possible impact to the environment from
hydraulic fracturing.
What Is Hydraulic Fracturing And What Is It Used For? The term hydraulic fracturing (AKA
fracking) is a common term used in today s media in reference to the oil industry. But what is
hydraulic fracturing or fracking? hydraulic fracturing defined by the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) as a process used to maximize the extraction of underground resources; including oil,
natural gas, geothermal energy, and even water (EPA, 2014). Simply put fluid and a mix of
material and chemicals are pumped into an already drilled well at high pressure to extract the
desired resource (i.e. natural gas) trapped within a solid such as shale rock, we will look at this
process and the elements used in it latter in this paper.

A portrait of Dora Maar, painted in 1937 by talented artist Pablo Picasso. The portrait of Dora

The general composition of the artwork has Dora Maar as the focal point. More specifically, her

The Blonde Bimbo. Long or fluffy hair, revealing clothes. Sometimes dumb, not able to use

As discussed in class, many people never come into contact with a police officer or have experience
with the criminal justice system. Therefore, the public might be subjected to create a perception
of the criminal justice system constructed off of the media they are exposed to. This television
show relies on the dogma that in order to achieve justice, a wrongful act must be penalized
though incarceration, which serves as a way of remediation. In this episode, we are presented
with a violent act of crime that most people agree is a morally and ethically a wrongful act. In
order to correct this wrongful act, the show offers the ideology that the police must prosecute the
criminal in order to achieve justice for the victim. However, as discussed in class, many of the
crimes people are incarcerated for are non violent offenses. A majority of these crimes are drug
possession that does not include a victim. Furthermore, this show also suggests that every offender
has the opportunity to go to trial. As illustrated in the episode, the defendant had an opportunity to
go to court within a couple of days of the committed act. Yet, as we learned in class, most
defendants end up negotiating a plea bargain and never have the chance to encounter a grand jury.
Therefore this show misconstrues the reality of our criminal justice

Martin s property was confiscated by the city of Wilmington, NC and conveyed to the Tar Heel
Family Resort company for developing their resort. Martin s and his neighbors properties were torn
down and provided with just compensation for the value of the property. Legally, the government,
state or federal, may confiscate personal property for the sole purpose of public use; if the property
s confiscation was for usages other than for public accommodations it s thereby illegal and
unconstitutional. The Fifth Amendment s Taking Clause covers this, which is to protect property
owners from the most significant costs of legal transitions (Serkin, 2015). The process of taking the
property is condemnation and the right to do it is eminent domain. However, in terms of whether
the right exists, the government must prove that the confiscation was for public use of the land.
Within the development plans of the resort it only states that it provides vacationing venues and
possible job creations. If Martin reviews the North Carolina s statutes he will find that the private
owners who possess authorization to confiscate the property must be corporations dealing with
installations of public utilities such as railroads, streets, and power lines, educational institutions,
franchised motor vehicle carriers or union bus station companies

The Properties Of A Whole ( System )
As stated in my previous paper, change in an organization is often met with resistance, aggression,
confusion and most of all misunderstanding. When organizations do not perform adequate due
diligence prior to understanding major activities of change, employees become confused because of
the level of uncertainty that comes with change, for this reason people undergoing change must
have the knowledge of the properties of understanding change. This paper will discuss the properties
for understanding change and how these properties interact. The properties of understanding change
are: Understand that people are reluctant to change and fear change, change can be successful or
fail depending on the mindset of the organization, change is not about or doesn t occur as a matter
of resources or intelligence, and also the understanding that the motivation of change can happen by
applying both E and O theories, the understanding that continuous change happens in cycle, and
finally understanding that change goes through challenges. Russell Ackoff s stated that the essential
properties of a whole (system) are the product of the interactions of the parts, not the action of the
parts taken separately. Therefore for an organization to be productive it needs to concentrate more
on the interaction of the parts working together not separately. For instance, we discussed in class
that (3 + 3=6) and (3x3=9), these numbers illustrates that each departments within the organization

A Synopsis Of Othello
Synopsis
William Shakespeare s book, Othello, is a tragedy written in the year 1603, based on the story, A
Moorish Capital. It revolves around four main characters, Othello, his wife Desdemona, Cassio
who is a Lieutenant and Othello s most trusted, and Iago, who is Othello s ensign, Most of the
action in the play takes place on the island of Cyprus. The themes covered include love, racism,
revenge, betrayal, jealousy and envy, and repentance. The book Othello is a tragedy since it attains
the standards put by Aristotle when defining the word tragedy. The writer uses drama to talk
about the fall of an individual who was once in a higher place. This fall could either be due to
internal or external forces. It is a tragedy that explains what happens ... Show more content on

The demand of 3D films has continually increased over the past decade. The revenues of these
3D films have always been on a rise, which is an indication that more people are watching
movies in theatres. Reimagining Shakespeare s Othello as a 3D movie can also help to reboot
the story, especially among young people. The director of the movie can add or change some
aspects of the story that may not be appealing to the audience, and introduce new scenes to take
advantage of the 3D technology, and also to make the movie more interesting. 3D is best
enjoyed with scenes involving a lot of action, the director can therefore capitalize on the violence
that exists in the story, which is caused by jealousy and need for revenge. For instance, to add
some aspects of action in the movie, the director can introduce fights and other types of violence,
to make it thrilling and interesting at the same time. Individuals who already know the story and
the characters would also be curious to see Othello as a 3D movie. As Shakespeare s stories are
famous and widely known, the production of the movie would create some buzz, attracting new
audience at the same

Dao De Jing
The Dao De Jing demonstrates the eternal, nameless and the substance of all things with an ever
flowing reality that has no end. Nothing is ever independent and always has an opposite. To
fully understand the chapters, it is good to know the meaning of the title itself; Dao De Jing
translates to The Book of the Way and Its Power (What Is Really Real, 439). One chapter that I
agree with is chapter 42, where one production leads to another naturally and gains more
complexity. Laozi calls this chapter the father of my teaching (Laozi, 446), I agree with his
statement because it shows how people don t like losing or gaining things, but how one thing can
lead to more and more and there s no changing this natural process. Tao produced the

Mexican Folk Songs Or Corridos
Mexican folk songs or corridos have encounter great change over the years. Some of the changes
of corridos can be credited to the different culture we live in now. Corridos in the past have been
about the Mexican American War, but most recently corridos began to be about life struggles
such as immigration and the violent drug war. While the topics of corridos have changed over
the years, corridos keep a familiar format with focusing on key issues of oppression, daily life, and
socially relevant events. In addition, corridos may help spread attention to events going around
society that has not been brought up in the media. This at time may be informative or controversial
depending on what the artist feel like talking about. Corridos try be about current issues to stay
revelate in the music industry. Corridos have a huge following in Mexicobecause of its strong roots.
Its speculated that corridos originated during the Mexican American war to narrate the battles and
war generals of those wars. Much has changed since that Mexican American war era, but one thing
still remains and that the popularity of corridos. Although corridos have much of the same structure
as the past, they have changed in a great deal because of the different trends going on in society
Moreover, corridos are known for their style of play. They re frequently played in conjuntos or
bands. Corridos in addition can be played by separate groups such as mariachie and tejeano. The

The Properties Of Life In Plants And Plants
The properties of life that plants and animals should possess include heredity and growth,
homeostasis, cellular organization, metabolism and responsiveness. Merriam Webster defined the
transmission of such qualities from ancestor to descendant through the genes. Therefore, heredity is
the power of an organismto reach data about itself onto its young. As well, growth is included as a
property of life because all living things originate and some may develop much quicker than others.
Another attribute of life is homeostasis. This is when living things possess a stable internal
environment regardless of any alterations in their external environment. In summation, the cellular
organization is another attribute of animation where all living things are composed of cells where
some have unicellular organisms and some have multicellular organisms. Furthermore, metabolism
is needed to provide organisms with energy and responsiveness must do with outside
environmental changes. Lastly, reproduction is not necessary for the survival of organisms, but is
necessary for there to be a prolongation of life. Not only do organisms require the properties of
spirit for survival but also molecules that are important for the prolongation of life. These molecules
include carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids. Carbohydrates contain sugars and starches
that provide and store energy for cells. Also, carbohydrates serve as the construction material for the
physical structure of plants.

Examine and Assess How Political Order Is Made and Repaired
Examine and assess how political order is made and repaired.
In this TMA I will examine and assess how political order is made mainly through the state. In
order to create, maintain and repair political order, the state needs authority from its citizens to do
so and this authority needs to be legitimate. Legitimacy refers to a belief in the states rightness, its
right to rule or the idea that its authority is proper. I will then explain how today, legitimacy is
closely linked to democracy and it is through free and fair elections that the state receives
legitimacy. The degree to which individuals legitimise the state is varied and individuals or groups
of people can also engage critically with the state.
Creating political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One way citizens can legitimise their relationship with the state is through citizenship ceremonies
however most citizens do not attend such ceremonies.
Many of the everyday practises and discourses of the state, its discourses, its symbols and the ways
in which state actors and institutions represent themselves to the people, are involved in the process
of legitimation; that is to say, the states claim of legitimacy from its citizens. So through peoples
everyday practises and activities like paying taxes or taking the car for an MOT individuals are
involved in the making and remaking of the state. This is another way through which people
legitimise the state.
However, one of the main ways individuals express their acceptance or rejection of the state is
through the ballot box. Elections provide a means for people to question and reflect on this or
that government policy, the adequacy of this or that government agency, or the talents and policies
of this or that party, candidate or official. Today we would see free and fair democratic elections
as the main, if not the only, reasonable indicator of whether people have given express consent to
those who hold state derived power over them.
Its possible to see that state legitimacy is closely linked to democracy. This is because through
democracy the state claims legitimacy to rule over people in a certain territory. Democracy is a
form of political order few dare to oppose (Sen) even if they

The Works That Have Impacted The Art World And Have Made...
Research Paper Throughout time there has been of course many influences that have impacted the
art world and have made it what it is today. However, there are some artistic movements that have
had a greater impact and stand out over others. The movement that has always personally stood out
to me was Ancient Egyptian art. The works that were produced for time period are interesting in
terms of the lack of tools and the innovation to make these paintings, sculptures, and architecture
that almost seem impossible to have been constructed. In my opinion the arts produced during the
Early Dynastic through the New Kingdom of Ancient Egyptare some of the most technologically
advance forms that stand out over all other art forms for the time... Show more content on

Instead we must develop a psychical distance or detachment from ancient Egyptian art in order to
view it in its purest aesthetic form. Once we have achieved this then we can move on to the first of
the two methods, formalism.
With this method of formalism we compare form and style, analyzing only the purely visual
aspects such as color, line, shape and texture of an object or artwork. Two formalist individuals
worth mentioning are Immanuel Kant and Clive Bell. Kant who teaches us the importance of the
disinterested viewer, and Bell who also explains this. Bell states in his article The Aesthetic
Hypothesis that Our practical interests, with their correlative pleasures and pains, are blended,
become confused now and then, and disquiet our aesthetic interest, but never become united with it
. So even though ancient Egyptian art has always stood out to me personally, we cannot let our
personal interests or emotions effect the way we analyze the works produced from ancient Egypt.
The second of the two methods needed to view and analyze the works from ancient Egypt is
iconography. This method studies the content of images and symbols depicted within a certain
work of art or interpretation of these. One art historian whose works of iconography are still
relevant today was Erwin Panofsky. Iconography is split into three levels of learning

Soccer Team Reflection Paper
In the beginning of class, we watched a film that reminded me of high school varsity soccer
because some of my coaches were both theory Y and theory X. My coaches would act in a very
direct and negative form which made us not want to continue being in the team but in the end,
the coaches taught us many leadership skills and also discipline which was key in a sports team.
I personally felt like I was both theories because I was the team captain so the ways I was
communicate with my players made me feel like I am a very mean person but I wanted my
team mates to know the expectations in order to be in a very competitive soccer team. I felt like
I had to be both theories in order to get my message across in the best form as possible. I had to
be harsh in order to show that my coaches and I were not just playing around, we were dedicating
our time into make the best soccer team in the USD 500 district. Towards the end of the soccer
season I was seeing positive results from each and every one of the players. It made me very happy
that I got my message across even though I wasn t naturally a theoryX but I had to put myself in the
players position. I felt like if I was only a theory Y, half of the team wouldn t take me serious.
The coaches in the film were a great example of how both theories could have a good result when
it comes to forming a team. Having diversity among the team makes a leader think about every
angle of how to approach the whole team because having diversity means that individuals have
different backgrounds. It can be difficult to address the whole team on what s expected and the
standards that they should be aiming for in order to continue being in the soccer team. As a leader
of the soccer team, it was very challenging at some situations because all my teammates were
depending on me in order to have positive results.
The team builder activity that we did in class was very interesting to do because every person in
the group had restrictions and limitations on what they could contribute in the group which made
me a bit challenging especially because time was against our favor. This activity made me realize
that every person can make a difference based on what capabilities they have and this

Life Is Defined By All The Living Creatures On Earth
Life is defined by all the living creatures on earth. Biology is a broad topic of the study of life.
Biology contains many different types of subjects within it that may be studied, like terrestrial or
aquatic animals, or viruses and diseases. Here I will be talking about twelve of the millions of
parts: Characteristics of life and kingdoms, biomolecules, nature and the importance of water, cells,
energy and the carbon cycle, celldivision through mitosis and meiosis, the central dogma through
DNA/RNA and proteins, genetics and inheritance, evolution, energy through food webs and food
chains, symbiotic relationships, and human impact. There are seven different characteristics of life.
These characteristics are known as organization or structure, reproduction growth and development,
adaptation, stimulus response, and evolution. After going through the list proving that the organism
is alive, the organism is set into one of three domains: bacteria, archaea, and eukaryotes. The
eukarya are known to have a nucleus and membrane bound organelles. Bacteria are characterized
by having a cell wall, by made from peptidoglycan. Archaea are characterized by having no
nucleus, but having a cell wall that isn t made from peptidoglycan. All of the eukarya are
organized into different groups called taxes or taxis (Anderson). The eight different taxis in order
from biggest to smallest are domain, kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species. For

Mortality In Blade Runner
Some things can be described as immortal; their appeal spans beyond the decades and reaches out
to audiences from different eras and ages, while others fade with changing times and ideals. Blade
Runner, a 1982 science fiction film that revolves around the idea of mortality, could be classified
as immortal itself; and timeless too is the chess game between Adolf Anderssen and Lionel
Kieseritzky that was dubbed the Immortal Game, which, to some extent, was the chess game that
the one in the movie was modelled off. Blade Runneruses the game between Sebastian and Tyrell as
well as its parallels in other parts of the movie, to explore the characteristics of humans. The chess
scenes highlight humanfallibilities: the fear of losing something even... Show more content on

Chess used to be a game played primarily between a father and son; the father would train the
son, and then they would play against each other. This represents the relationship between Batty
and Tyrell; Tyrell says to Batty, affectionately, you re the prodigal son , suggesting he views Batty
as a son, not just his creation, and Tyrell is also the one who gave Batty his intelligence. As Tyrell
walks toward the chessboard in his room, his clattering, uneven steps and the high camera angle
position him in weakness, and when Batty defeats him in the game, the balance of power shifts
completely. The way in which Batty says check...mate , savouring the taste of each individual
syllable, foreshadow his cold, merciless and calculated murders, starting with two men who helped
his creation. Humans have the capacity to build machines to make life easier, as the replicants were
used in Off world development, but humans also have the capacity to build machines dangerous

Heartly House Executive Summary Heartly House Charity Tree, December 2014, December 2015 Frederick, MD Initiated and organized holiday fundraiser for two consecutive years at MAXIMUS Federal Services and raised $1,200 in four weeks from gifts donated by employees. As part of my assignment while employed with Kearney Company, P.C. (Kearney), I was assigned the responsibility of acting as a member on the prime contractor s (MAXIMUS) Social Committee. As an active member of the committee, my colleagues and I were tasked with promoting collaboration amongst the subcontractors. While hosting a variety of events successfully boosted morale throughout the office, the committee agreed that we should do more. As it was the holiday season, we decided to display a giving tree in the office which had ornaments hanging on it with different items requested by families in need currently staying at the Heartly House. Located in Frederick, Maryland, the Heartly House provides comprehensive services for victims and survivors of domestic violence. The tree was a great success. In just four short weeks, the employees from all of the subcontractors united and purchased every item on the tree. Finally I look to my right at my final judge, he simply winks at me. I close my eyes and count to three. It s finally time to begin; this is my time. These next three minutes everyone has to listen to me and my opinion. I open my mouth, but the only thought going through my head is, why? Why am I doing this? Why am I here? Why did I make this mistake? It was the first day of English class and the teacher asked, who here has ever given a class presentation before? I looked around hoping, praying, that someone else is like me. However fate was not on my side. Every hand in the class was proudly raised high and I was all alone on my little island of fear. The teacher looked directly at me and asked why I had not ever done a presentation. I m a clicker, I mumbled, it was barely audible but the teacher heard it and his face softened. Well Mr. Peschansky it s time you become a talker. A psychological study done in the early 70 s found that people are more afraid of public speaking then of death. Standing at the front of the room in my first debate tournament I realize just how true that is. All I can hear is my heart hammering away in my chest, my legs feel like they are going to give and I m shaking all over. I never opened my mouth when I was in grade school. I was the kid that was always reading. If my head was not buried in a book then something was probably ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. How Did Chester A. Arthur The Principle Of American Politics Chester A. Arthur: The Ripple of American Politics For my presentation, I would like to present a president not known much in this time and age but one who, in 1880, made drastic changes to the American government. This man was Chester A. Arthur. The following material is what I have learned in American Government for only but one year, I have still learned more than what I already knew at the beginning of my high school career. I have gained a better understanding of the American political system as well as the history of the system. The second is that I can now put everyday events that happen and see how they correlate to the political system which affects everyday life. The last fundamental that I learned was how to do research. As I looked... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It wasn t long until 4 months after Garfield s assassination in that same year that Arthur officially became President. Some of the highlights of his term as president were the signing of the Pendleton Civil Service Act which prohibited the firing of workers based on political reasons and political donations from the employees. This act also allowed specific federal government jobs be given based on how well an employee does instead of political connections. Another event was his almost successful attempt to lower the tariffs. He vetoed the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, only to have the veto overrode by Congress. Militarily he wanted to have the modernization of the U.S. Navy (. In conclusion, I applied what I have learned from American Government to give an informative view into a president who had a somewhat important role in the American political system 136 years ago which still applies to today. This in return was done using the three skills I have learned: knowledge of the American political system as well as the history of it, how the events correlate to today and how to research a ... I would consider myself to be a great exchange student because I have these abilities and am able to adapt to new situations with ease. If an exchange student just wants to travel to the exchange country because it is a vacation, they are completely missing the point of this experience and consequently won t gain any benefit from it. Because of this point, I would never invest my time and my parents money in something that I am not whole heartedly behind. Since this trip is international, personal interactions need to be a little more calculated until you are more familiar with the cultural differences. A topic of discussion in the US could be completely taboo in Germany, so before you make an interaction with a person you don t know in a certain country, you should make sure you understand the do s and dont s of that country s culture. Once these cultural differences are learned, you shouldn t be afraid of talking to people, because the best way to get knowledge of the culture and life of Germans is to ask them yourself. Also it the host country would be appreciative of you trying to learn their language, so speaking in german sometimes is also a good way to interact. I have many values, the most important of which are; loyalty, open mindedness, and passion. Loyalty is important to me, as it shows you who your real friends are in times of struggle. Loyalty to someone isn t defined as always hanging out with them, it is defined as being there for someone when they are at their worst, not just their best. When going through life it is important to stay open minded because everyone leads a different life, and it is ignorant to always look at life through one lense. When faced with new situations, I stay open minded because trying new things is what makes life interesting and not one constant buzz. Since the founding of our nation, it has been a prominent part of the American Culture. Patriotism is rooted in values which include honor, loyalty, and bravery among others. There are many ways that an American can show their pride. One of the biggest way to prove one s love for the nationis to joining the military to defend our liberties. In a society where everyone is watching and ready to point fingers, these groups of people may receive more scrutiny. One example of people who may not display much patriotism is the immigrant minority group. Devout Americans may think that immigrants and other minorities have not adapted to the culture and therefore cannot understand American pride. They are often frowned upon when they lack common knowledge of American history. People use this against them to support their idea that this group of people may be unpatriotic. However, these immigrants and minority groups have come to America chasing the American Dream. They have left everything behind and come to an unknown place with nothing but dreams to become a part of the Land of the Free. Immigrants seek asylum and citizenship in this great nation, in hopes to make it their own and enjoy the rights that we celebrate. Moreover, there are true Americans who publicly defy a sense of patriotism. For instance, when many NFL players decided to take a knee during the national anthem, many were outraged by their lack of respect for the United States. While many were angry, others showed solidarity and did the same when they found out the cause they were speaking out about. Furthermore, when famous singers forget the words to the Star Spangled Banner, they are always sympathized by the audience and still receive the applause. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Death And The King Horseman Analysis In an interview with The Guardian (2009) Wole Soyinka explained that the motivation behind writing Death and the King s Horseman was a bust of colonialist, Winston Churchill. To Soyinka, Churchill signified the breaking of the Yoruba culture and traditions. The idea for the play came from an instance during the colonial period in Nigeria, when the British intervened in the traditional suicide of a king s horseman. The title itself already makes reference to a Nigerian ritual in which the horseman of a king must kill himself after the death of the king (McNulty, 2011:2). The biggest event of cultural misunderstanding is evident in Act II when the British Officer, Pilkings, orders that Elesin Oba (the horseman) be arrested. Joseph (the stableboy) tells the Pilkingses how it is tradition for the king to be burried a month after his death but, before he can be burried, his dog, his steed and his horseman must die to be able to accompany him to heaven. For long this tradition is questioned and contested by the Pilkingses because how can something like that make sense to anybody? It is only once Olunde shows up in Act IV that the playwright changes the context. Olunde compares the suicide of the horseman to the mass killing of soldiers. He judges the Western customs of war in the same way the Westerners criticized his traditions and people. And when Simon manages to stop Elesin from killing himself, Olunde turns his back on his father at first, after which all the people from the market insults Elesin. His failure in the task is seen as a weak will. Another custom that is present is when, in Act II, the officer and his wife are getting ready for a ball and Amusa shows up. Amusa refuses to speak to Pilkings because of his costume, a uniform the Yoruban culturebelieves brings death. He tells Pilkings to put on other clothes as It is a matter of death. How can a man talk against death to a person in uniform of death? p25. The British officer cannot understand the rubbish because it is not part of his customs. To him it is clothing a fun outift to wear to the ball with no abilitiy to cause death. But no matter how he tries to explain it, Amusa keeps strong in his belief. • 13. The Ugly Renaissance Discussion Of Italy The Ugly Renaissance Discussion 1. Why did the Renaissance originate in Florence and prosper for so many years? In many ways, Italy had benefits over northern Europe in detaching from the feudal system and accumulating enormous amounts of wealth. I think that above all else, geography was Italy s anchor in this respect. Being a projecting land mass sticking out into the Mediterranean Sea, and beneficially located between the main part of Europe and the Byzantine Empire, cities within Italy had little choice but to weave endeavors of commerce into every day life while engaging in the market and foreign trade. Therefore, Italy became prone to the extensive continuity of goods and novelties earlier than other European areas. Accordingly,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Florence was exposed to the principles and ideologies of foreign regions and immersed them into the art and literature produced thereafter. That then percolated to the rest of the other European nations and the rest of Italy itself. The Medici maintained these connections rooted and stable by way of finance and politics and guaranteed that Florence, throughout the Renaissance, was an advocate of the arts. Furthermore, had it not been for the establishment of a connection between the Medici and the Papacy, Florence and Rome, it seems, may have actually been rivals grown under the essence of partnership and collaboration during the Renaissance. Rome supplied many Florentine artists with a harbor, and, in turn, Florence took advantage of the administration of the papal funds. 2. What were the differences from the Middle Ages promoted by the Renaissance? Often, the Renaissance is acknowledged as an era of artistic refinement. However, couldn t it also be said that the Renaissance, for the most part, clung to the spiritual and religious motifs of the Middle Ages? If so, what were the differences, during that period, from the Middle Ages as promoted by the Renaissance? Regardless of the likenesses to medieval art encircling subject matter and theme, Renaissance artists undoubtedly interrupted the stagnant standards of medieval art. As previously stated, the themes of the Middle Ages were rather consistent, but the Renaissance style was unprecedented in its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For hypothesis test two the manager suspects less than 55% of the 100 telemarketers received online training. Looking at the type of training data; two types of training were offered and none at all, provides the three options. Therefore, if those receiving either group training or none at all total more than 45 telemarketers of the 100 sales people then the alternative hypothesis is accepted because there is sufficient evidence to support it. If the manager s suspicions are true: the null hypothesis that states there are less than 55% of the sales force who received online training is true then there must be sufficient evidence to support that statement. 20 of 100 callers have no training and 30 telemarketers received group training while 50 sales people received online training according to the Excel data sheet provided. Therefore, 50% either received no training or group training and 50% received online training. The manager s suspicions are supported. Many people saw this as an opportunity to invest their money into the market, and multiply their cash. Despite warnings of a crash in the market, people kept on using their money even taking out loans to invest into the rapidly increasing market. Nevertheless, on October 29, 1929 the stock exchange crashed, and caused panic throughout the nation. Our percent yield for alcohol was 84.2% which is average. We rushed through our vacuum filtration and probably did not let the solid dry long enough and might have not transferred all of the solid to the vacuum filtration from the beaker. 2. The TLC results showed two different spots that traveled different distances on the TLC plate, one for ethyl vanillin and one for ethyl vanillin alcohol which proves there is no evidence of the starting material in our final product. The product (ethyl vanillin alcohol) was more polar and interacted more with the solvent than our starting material (ethyl vanillin). This increase in polarity is due to the extra alcohol group in the ethyl vanillin alcohol and the smaller Rf value also indicates it is more polar and pure than the ethyl vanillin. 3. The IR spectrum of the starting material shows a medium/strong C O bond at around 1500cm 1, also the starting material shows a strong C H bond at around 3000cm 1 and another medium C H bond at 2865cm 1 indicating an aldehyde group whereas the product does not. Conflict in large amounts, or if managed poorly can negatively impact motivation and productivity (Marquis and Huston, 2015). Conflict resolution is critical to a healthy work environment, because a breakdown in communication and collaborations can lead to patient care errors (Johansen, 2012). Conflict I had a conflict with a peer over scheduling. We were both weekend package, working 24 hour shifts. We shared the weekend hours equally by alternating the days we worked. As a nurse manager, if this problem were presented to me today, I would try to use collaboration to address the issue. Getting both sides to recognize and work toward a common goal is important. Although there are times when this approach may not work due to time constraints or other reasons. My nurse manager also used the strategy of third party consultation. Marquis and Huston (2015) suggest confrontation, third party consultation, behavior change, responsibility charting, structure change, and soothing one party as strategies to manage conflict. This was an effective strategy to use to assure her and the staff nurses that the conflict was being handled appropriately. This would be a good technique for me to utilize, as it would give me reassurance of doing the right thing. How Conflict Management Relates the Effective Leader The effective leader needs to recognize conflict early, be proactive, actively listen, remain calm, define the problem, and seek a solution (Johansen, 2012). The conflict I described took several weeks to come to a final solution. The nurse manager handled the situation fairly, however the time it took to resolve the conflict allowed for breakdown in the team morale. Unresolved conflict can lead to poor communication and affect patient outcomes (Marquis Huston, 2015). Summary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As an example, we can see how top colleges like Harvard or Stanford recruit young athletes. At the end, those athletes are making names for the schools. As a girl you are expected to break, but in reality girls have to pretend nothing will break them or they will again be judged by society. This tends to be the case because if a girl breaks it will just add fire to the sexist prejudices put upon them as a gender. In Serena Nanda s article Arranging a Marriage in India, she talks about her research in India, when a son s parents are looking for a wife for their son they have a very long list of expectations. She should be from the same caste system, pretty, not too intelligent, meshes with the family well, doesn t stray from home, nor does she gossip or call home a lot, and the most important thing is that she is pure before marriage. Though these expectations tend to look somewhat different in the U.S. they have the same ideas. A girl should be boxed in away from society and taking care of the children or perhaps being a good cook to put it into simpler terms because that is what society unfairly tells us a girl should be able to do. Serena also talks about how it is very important for a girl to protect the family name and in no way ever disgrace it. If that girl does disgrace the family (for example not staying pure) it is not uncommon for her brother or even cousin to murder her. Why is a family s expectations based on what a girl does? These unrealistic expectations push girls too far and cause us to think our worth is less because we cannot do it all, even though society thinks that s the least we could ... As discussed in class, many people never come into contact with a police officer or have experience with the criminal justice system. Therefore, the public might be subjected to create a perception of the criminal justice system constructed off of the media they are exposed to. This television show relies on the dogma that in order to achieve justice, a wrongful act must be penalized though incarceration, which serves as a way of remediation. In this episode, we are presented with a violent act of crime that most people agree is a morally and ethically a wrongful act. In order to correct this wrongful act, the show offers the ideology that the police must prosecute the criminal in order to achieve justice for the victim. However, as discussed in class, many of the crimes people are incarcerated for are non violent offenses. A majority of these crimes are drug possession that does not include a victim. Furthermore, this show also suggests that every offender has the opportunity to go to trial. As illustrated in the episode, the defendant had an opportunity to go to court within a couple of days of the committed act. Yet, as we learned in class, most defendants end up negotiating a plea bargain and never have the chance to encounter a grand jury. Therefore this show misconstrues the reality of our criminal justice ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Martin s and his neighbors properties were torn down and provided with just compensation for the value of the property. Legally, the government, state or federal, may confiscate personal property for the sole purpose of public use; if the property s confiscation was for usages other than for public accommodations it s thereby illegal and unconstitutional. The Fifth Amendment s Taking Clause covers this, which is to protect property owners from the most significant costs of legal transitions (Serkin, 2015). The process of taking the property is condemnation and the right to do it is eminent domain. However, in terms of whether the right exists, the government must prove that the confiscation was for public use of the land. Within the development plans of the resort it only states that it provides vacationing venues and possible job creations. If Martin reviews the North Carolina s statutes he will find that the private owners who possess authorization to confiscate the property must be corporations dealing with installations of public utilities such as railroads, streets, and power lines, educational institutions, franchised motor vehicle carriers or union bus station companies ... • 42. The Properties Of A Whole ( System ) As stated in my previous paper, change in an organization is often met with resistance, aggression, confusion and most of all misunderstanding. When organizations do not perform adequate due diligence prior to understanding major activities of change, employees become confused because of the level of uncertainty that comes with change, for this reason people undergoing change must have the knowledge of the properties of understanding change. This paper will discuss the properties for understanding change and how these properties interact. The properties of understanding change are: Understand that people are reluctant to change and fear change, change can be successful or fail depending on the mindset of the organization, change is not about or doesn t occur as a matter of resources or intelligence, and also the understanding that the motivation of change can happen by applying both E and O theories, the understanding that continuous change happens in cycle, and finally understanding that change goes through challenges. Russell Ackoff s stated that the essential properties of a whole (system) are the product of the interactions of the parts, not the action of the parts taken separately. Therefore for an organization to be productive it needs to concentrate more on the interaction of the parts working together not separately. For instance, we discussed in class that (3 + 3=6) and (3x3=9), these numbers illustrates that each departments within the organization may ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The revenues of these 3D films have always been on a rise, which is an indication that more people are watching movies in theatres. Reimagining Shakespeare s Othello as a 3D movie can also help to reboot the story, especially among young people. The director of the movie can add or change some aspects of the story that may not be appealing to the audience, and introduce new scenes to take advantage of the 3D technology, and also to make the movie more interesting. 3D is best enjoyed with scenes involving a lot of action, the director can therefore capitalize on the violence that exists in the story, which is caused by jealousy and need for revenge. For instance, to add some aspects of action in the movie, the director can introduce fights and other types of violence, to make it thrilling and interesting at the same time. To fully understand the chapters, it is good to know the meaning of the title itself; Dao De Jing translates to The Book of the Way and Its Power (What Is Really Real, 439). One chapter that I agree with is chapter 42, where one production leads to another naturally and gains more complexity. The Properties Of Life In Plants And Plants The properties of life that plants and animals should possess include heredity and growth, homeostasis, cellular organization, metabolism and responsiveness. Merriam Webster defined the transmission of such qualities from ancestor to descendant through the genes. Therefore, heredity is the power of an organismto reach data about itself onto its young. As well, growth is included as a property of life because all living things originate and some may develop much quicker than others. Another attribute of life is homeostasis. This is when living things possess a stable internal environment regardless of any alterations in their external environment. In summation, the cellular organization is another attribute of animation where all living things are composed of cells where some have unicellular organisms and some have multicellular organisms. Furthermore, metabolism is needed to provide organisms with energy and responsiveness must do with outside environmental changes. Lastly, reproduction is not necessary for the survival of organisms, but is necessary for there to be a prolongation of life. Not only do organisms require the properties of spirit for survival but also molecules that are important for the prolongation of life. These molecules include carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids. Carbohydrates contain sugars and starches that provide and store energy for cells. In this TMA I will examine and assess how political order is made mainly through the state. In order to create, maintain and repair political order, the state needs authority from its citizens to do so and this authority needs to be legitimate. Legitimacy refers to a belief in the states rightness, its right to rule or the idea that its authority is proper. I will then explain how today, legitimacy is closely linked to democracy and it is through free and fair elections that the state receives legitimacy. The degree to which individuals legitimise the state is varied and individuals or groups of people can also engage critically with the state. Creating political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One way citizens can legitimise their relationship with the state is through citizenship ceremonies however most citizens do not attend such ceremonies. Many of the everyday practises and discourses of the state, its discourses, its symbols and the ways in which state actors and institutions represent themselves to the people, are involved in the process of legitimation; that is to say, the states claim of legitimacy from its citizens. So through peoples everyday practises and activities like paying taxes or taking the car for an MOT individuals are involved in the making and remaking of the state. This is another way through which people legitimise the state. However, one of the main ways individuals express their acceptance or rejection of the state is through the ballot box. Elections provide a means for people to question and reflect on this or that government policy, the adequacy of this or that government agency, or the talents and policies of this or that party, candidate or official. Today we would see free and fair democratic elections as the main, if not the only, reasonable indicator of whether people have given express consent to those who hold state derived power over them. Its possible to see that state legitimacy is closely linked to democracy. This is because through democracy the state claims legitimacy to rule over people in a certain territory. Democracy is a form of political order few dare to oppose (Sen) even if they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. The Works That Have Impacted The Art World And Have Made... Research Paper Throughout time there has been of course many influences that have impacted the art world and have made it what it is today. However, there are some artistic movements that have had a greater impact and stand out over others. The movement that has always personally stood out to me was Ancient Egyptian art. The works that were produced for time period are interesting in terms of the lack of tools and the innovation to make these paintings, sculptures, and architecture that almost seem impossible to have been constructed. In my opinion the arts produced during the Early Dynastic through the New Kingdom of Ancient Egyptare some of the most technologically advance forms that stand out over all other art forms for the time... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead we must develop a psychical distance or detachment from ancient Egyptian art in order to view it in its purest aesthetic form. Once we have achieved this then we can move on to the first of the two methods, formalism. With this method of formalism we compare form and style, analyzing only the purely visual aspects such as color, line, shape and texture of an object or artwork. Two formalist individuals worth mentioning are Immanuel Kant and Clive Bell. Kant who teaches us the importance of the disinterested viewer, and Bell who also explains this. Bell states in his article The Aesthetic Hypothesis that Our practical interests, with their correlative pleasures and pains, are blended, become confused now and then, and disquiet our aesthetic interest, but never become united with it . So even though ancient Egyptian art has always stood out to me personally, we cannot let our personal interests or emotions effect the way we analyze the works produced from ancient Egypt. The second of the two methods needed to view and analyze the works from ancient Egypt is iconography. This method studies the content of images and symbols depicted within a certain work of art or interpretation of these. One art historian whose works of iconography are still relevant today was Erwin Panofsky. Iconography is split into three levels of learning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Soccer Team Reflection Paper In the beginning of class, we watched a film that reminded me of high school varsity soccer because some of my coaches were both theory Y and theory X. My coaches would act in a very direct and negative form which made us not want to continue being in the team but in the end, the coaches taught us many leadership skills and also discipline which was key in a sports team. I personally felt like I was both theories because I was the team captain so the ways I was communicate with my players made me feel like I am a very mean person but I wanted my team mates to know the expectations in order to be in a very competitive soccer team. I felt like I had to be both theories in order to get my message across in the best form as possible. I had to be harsh in order to show that my coaches and I were not just playing around, we were dedicating our time into make the best soccer team in the USD 500 district. Towards the end of the soccer season I was seeing positive results from each and every one of the players. It made me very happy that I got my message across even though I wasn t naturally a theoryX but I had to put myself in the players position. I felt like if I was only a theory Y, half of the team wouldn t take me serious. The coaches in the film were a great example of how both theories could have a good result when it comes to forming a team. Having diversity among the team makes a leader think about every angle of how to approach the whole team because having diversity means that individuals have different backgrounds. It can be difficult to address the whole team on what s expected and the standards that they should be aiming for in order to continue being in the soccer team. As a leader of the soccer team, it was very challenging at some situations because all my teammates were depending on me in order to have positive results. The team builder activity that we did in class was very interesting to do because every person in the group had restrictions and limitations on what they could contribute in the group which made me a bit challenging especially because time was against our favor. This activity made me realize that every person can make a difference based on what capabilities they have and this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Biology contains many different types of subjects within it that may be studied, like terrestrial or aquatic animals, or viruses and diseases. Here I will be talking about twelve of the millions of parts: Characteristics of life and kingdoms, biomolecules, nature and the importance of water, cells, energy and the carbon cycle, celldivision through mitosis and meiosis, the central dogma through DNA/RNA and proteins, genetics and inheritance, evolution, energy through food webs and food chains, symbiotic relationships, and human impact. There are seven different characteristics of life. These characteristics are known as organization or structure, reproduction growth and development, adaptation, stimulus response, and evolution. After going through the list proving that the organism is alive, the organism is set into one of three domains: bacteria, archaea, and eukaryotes. The eukarya are known to have a nucleus and membrane bound organelles. Bacteria are characterized by having a cell wall, by made from peptidoglycan. Archaea are characterized by having no nucleus, but having a cell wall that isn t made from peptidoglycan. All of the eukarya are organized into different groups called taxes or taxis (Anderson). The eight different taxis in order from biggest to smallest are domain, kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, and species. For example in domain, there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Blade Runner, a 1982 science fiction film that revolves around the idea of mortality, could be classified as immortal itself; and timeless too is the chess game between Adolf Anderssen and Lionel Kieseritzky that was dubbed the Immortal Game, which, to some extent, was the chess game that the one in the movie was modelled off.
