Spread Of Eurasia
Main Idea: In Chapter 10, Diamond discusses, why agriculture spread more quickly in Eurasia. He
goes on to explain how axis orientations affected the rate of speed of crops and livestock, and possibly
the writing, wheels, and other inventions. Details: Eurasia lies mostly on an east west axis, while
Africa and the Americas are mostly on a north south axis. Plants spread more easily from east to west
then north to south. This is because plants are adapted to cycles of day/night (which are constant east
to west) and climate (which does vary east west, but varies more, north to south). For example, local
areas that are east and west of each other at the same latitude share exactly the same day length and its
seasonal variations, which

Discrimination Against Homosexuals
1.0 Topic and Chosen Report
Discrimination is defined as the unjust or prejudicial treatment towards certain groups or categories of
a specified entity. Encompassed within the scope of discrimination is the pertinent subject matter,
Discrimination Against Homosexuals in Today s Youth. As the dynamic generation of the current
world grows exponentially vocal with their standpoints, certain folds in the society today express their
negative outlook pertaining to homosexuals, leading to the ostracized generalization of the already
shunned minority. Therefore, the subject matter of discrimination against homosexuals is rather apt as
a form of oppression.
1.1 Critical Evaluation of Findings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dr. Friedman M (2014) emphasizes that although considerable gains have been made in the
acceptance of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) into the general community, biasness
is still prevalent and has very notable mental health consequences. This is due to the fact that
homosexuals generally receive greater amounts of discrimination than heterosexuals (American
Journal of Public Health 2011). A succinct paradigm to this includes a recent study which showed that
homosexuals are more likely to commit suicide as a result of discrimination, when compared to
heterosexual. This disparity is due to the discrimination and prejudice faced by homosexuals
(DeAngelis 2002, Vol 33, No.2, Pg46). Discrimination against homosexuals takes a toll on the
individuals targeted and as the evidence illustrates, discrimination in any form ushers in a strafing
array of detrimental effects to the individuals

Samuel Clemens Biography Essay
Samuel L. Clemens was born on November 30, 1835. On this day Halley s comet blazed through the
night sky. Clemens notably mentioned that since he came along when the comet did, he shall leave
when the comet does. On April 21, 1910, the day the comet shined the brightest it had ever shown,
Clemens passed from a heart attack. Ironically, this was also the day that Halley s comet made an exit
from Earth s sight (Harper and Owens). Throughout the lifetime of the comet, Clemens became an
American icon in literature. With the pen name Mark Twain, his humorous travel stories brought him
to fame as he left the occupation of a news reporter. Twain chose this pen name based on his
experiences from being a steamboat pilot on the Mississippi River. Crew men on the steamboat would
shout Mark Twain if the depth of water was enough for the boat to travel through it. At the age of

Tom Sawyer lives with his Aunt who adores him despite his childish actions throughout the novel. On
the other hand, Huckleberry Finn lives with a widow and her sister who do not accept immaturity.
Tom s family loves him although he may be a troublesome child, while Huck s dad had a savage life
of abusing his child. Tom is forced to go to school and church by his aunt, but Huck has absolutely no
responsibility as he is a symbol of freedom for the boys his age. Although Tom is a troublesome child,
he knows his limits and when to stop. He understands how to be civilized, but he chooses not to be.
Huck, on the other hand, has no ambition to be civilized and may not have any idea on how to become
civilized. It is clear that Tom is more intelligent than Huck by the way it is portrayed in the novels of
how the two boys talk and the words they use. Twain proves that opposites attract in these novels by
making Tom and Huck become such great

Introduction This report will explain the benefits to civil engineers of gaining the early involvement of
the supply chain on civil engineering projects; analyse and evaluate the importance of coordination
and communication between the Project Manager, Main Contractor, Lead Designer, Technical
Manager (Specialist Suppliers) and Health and Safety Manager, and between the project team and
other professionals within the built environment. Further to this the report will provide an over view of
the key pieces of Health and Safety legislation within the United Kingdom, as they apply to civil

However they work hand in hand, by keeping to a timescale and without deviating from a design, a
budget can be achieved. Civil engineering projects require a team to fulfil work needed to supply a
project with the required equipment and materials. This team is regularly made up of five key roles.
Project Manager, Main Contractor (the companies project manager of foreman) Lead designer
(usually out sourced) Technical Manager (employed by the appointed contractor or working directly
for the projects client) Health and Safety Manager (Independent nominee assigned to the project).
Each role has expertise in specific fields bringing professional information to the project. The desired
result is a proficient smooth running operation, compliant with health and safety regulations.
Materials, equipment and labour are well managed to ensure a project is delivered as the design states,
on time and economically profitable to all parties. A supply chain can be viewed and implemented in
many different ways depending on the industry it is applied to. In any case the depth of planning and
organisation results in the quality of the service provided. Involvement by department leaders in the

Big Brother Symbolism
Big Brother: Protector or Dark Representative As far as the eye can see, the posters so bold and
ubiquitous boast Big Brother Is Watching You (Orwell 3). He is the leader of the Party, yet he is also
the government itself; he is a symbol representing much more than what is implied. In 1984 by
George Orwell, Big Brother represents the darkness behind the Party. This dark symbolism is evident
in big brother s name using the principles of doublespeak, similarities between big brother and
dictators, big brother s totalitarian like action and purpose, and the fear caused by big brother s
unceasing watch on his people. Though Big Brother is a symbol for the Party s darkness, some readers
interpret his character as harmless. Afterall, big brother is a name normally ... Show more content on

Much like Hitler, Franco, and Stalin, Big Brother is worshipped by his followers, though the worship
of Big Brother is especially important because it takes place of outlawed organized religion ( 1984

Truth to dispose of books and other such documentation of stories that do not suit his needs, much like
how Hitler burned books for the same purpose (Ingersoll). This knowledge was carried out to such an
extent that Big Brother could rewrite astronomy to make the stars mere miles away from Earth if such
a truth accorded with the unrestrained exercise of power by the Party (Ingersoll). Another example of
Big Brother s similarity to dictators can be found when Winston sees himself after he has been
tortured by O Brien. The figure that Winston sees in the mirror, complete with [shrunken legs] so that
the knees were thicker than the thighs, ribs was as narrow as that of a skeleton, and

Inequality in Work Insecurity
Inequality in Work Insecurity Name Institutional Affiliation Name: Inequality in Work Insecurity
What is the difference between inequality and insecurity and how can these phenomena be explained
theoretically? In life, we often hear about insecurity. This word has been used to describe individuals
who do not inhibit confidence, they wear emotions on their sleeves and are armored with eh concept
of pleasing other people. Insecurity has been described as a feeling of insecurity. The state of mind has
been characterized by vulnerability and self doubt. This suggests that insecurity is a feeling of being
unsafe. Insecure people tend to have a feeling that they are a target of harm or hurt (Chirkov, Ryan
Models of Preference Change, 2011). A deeper elaboration states that insecurity is a fear of not being
safe. Many people are of the opinion that insecurity is a psychological state, lack of confidence and
immaturity. Insecure people always feel that they are targets of rejection, and expect to be failures in
life. They are always afraid of risks. All this can sabotage any leader. On the other hand, whereas
insecurity means a lack of self confidence, inequality refers to a disparity and a lack of opportunity,
treatment, and status because of the differences. In addition, inequality means not being even, lacking
smoothness, and being irregular. Synonyms associated with inequality include prejudice,
disproportional, diversity and bias (Elliott Atkinson, 1999). Marxist

Shear Wave Elastography Analysis
Shear wave elastography technique
Shear wave elastography{SWE} is a novel technique for obtaining elastograms of soft tissue by
tracking the transverse shear waves that spread laterally away from amechanical disturbance of the
tissue. They have special properties that differ from both the longitudinal waves of conventional
ultrasound imaging (which relies on the bulk modulus of elasticity) and from conventional
compression elastography. They travel at few metres per second, depending on the visco elastic
properties of the tissue, and are rapidly attenuated, so that for practically achievable disturbances they
have dissipated after travelling for afew centimeters(101).
SWE is based on the principle of acoustic radiation force. With use of light ... Show more content on

the information on the propagating shear wave including the velocity of the shear wave could be
measured by obtaining radiofrequency images with a high frame rate , which can be used to generate a
tissue displacement map. then ,the elastic property for quantitative estimation is calculated by the
propagating velocity of shear wave .ARFI, acoustic radiation force impulse, Woo Kyoung Jeong 2014)
(104).
The recommended technique for SWE was to image the lesion with no pressure induced by the
transducer. After a few seconds of immobilization to allow the SWE image to stabilize, the SWE
image was frozen and saved(104).
The size and location of the ROI was standardized as follows: The anterior posterior margin of the
ROI was manipulated to include the area from the subcutaneous fat layer to the pectoral muscle layer,
and the lateral margin was adjusted to include at least 5 mm of breast tissue adjacent to the lesions,
because the maximum areas of stiffness in malignant lesions were always found in the peritumoral
region rather than in the lesion itself

Descriptive Essay On My Home House
Fun, Love, Comfort in the Home with the Green Door
In a small town called Whigham located in the southwest part of Georgia is a home numbered 201 in
the middle of Harrell Avenue Northwest. The home is shaded by a mighty oak tree, its exterior is
white in color with a forest green metal door and window trim painted forest green to match the door.
On the outside this house is full of plant life, two domestic dogs that guard the home from morning to
night, and wild animals living off the provisions of the land. The inside of the house is full of geckos,
family, and love. This is the house I was raised in since my mother and father brought me home from
Grady General Hospital in the month of January in 1991. This home will forever be my safety and my
delight.
This small family home has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, one laundry room, a pantry with a dog
kennel built on the side, a kitchen, and a coat closet in the foyer. The entire house was located on one
level except two of the bedrooms which is located down the stairs on the front of the house; the
bedroom to the left down the stairs was my room. My room walls were painted baby blue in color
with a bright orange glass sun located over my headboard that was shaped like skyscrapers in New
York City. The carpet that was in my room was as soft as clouds and was milk chocolate brown in
color. The bonus to my bedroom was the walk in closet that held my black wood bookshelf, twelve

The Attention Span Of Goldfish Have Longer Attention Spans...
Goldfish have longer attention spans than Americans. Yes, you read that correctly. As you may already
know, the attention span is the amount of time an individual is able to concentrate on one particular
action. However, you most likely did not know that the average attention span of a human being has
dropped from 12 seconds in 2000 to 8 seconds in 2013. (Brenner) The average attention span of
goldfish is 9 seconds and due to the effects of various sources of media, this is now one second greater
than the average human. Over the years of exposure to social media and live updates, American
culture has progressively shortened the attention spans of our citizens, and this is prevalent in the work
of famous musicians and their album sales.
Although there are many different forms of media that have been impacted in this attention span shift,
I would like to emphasize the shift in music sales. The steady decrease in attention span correlates
directly with album sales over the last 35 years. I have selected 3 albums, released in 1980, 1990, and
2000, to show the steady decline in album sales. I chose ACDC s Back in Black for its iconic history,
Madonna s The Immaculate Collection for its unique impact, and Eminem s The Marshal Mathers LP
for its distinct recognition. The sales of these albums show the decline in album sales over time. Each
of these massively popular artists had less and less success selling albums, compared to individual
songs in the music industry

Down Syndrome Essay
Down Syndrome is a chromosomal condition related to chromosome 21. It affects 1 in 800 to 1 in
1000 born infants. People who have Down Syndrome have learning difficulties, mental retardation, a
different facial appearance, and poor muscle tone (hypotonia) in infancy.
Individuals with Down Syndrome also have an increased risk for having heart defects, digestive
problems such as gastroesophageal reflux or celiac disease , and hearing loss. Some people who have
Down Syndrome have low activity of the thyroid gland (hypothyroidism) an organ in the lower neck
that produces hormones.

When there is a heart defect currently in an infant with Down syndrome, the infant is referred to a
pediatric cardiologist for medical attention or to a pediatric cardiac surgeon for early surgical repair.
Some infants with Down Syndrome have difficulties with swallowing or they may have blockages in
their bowels. Surgery can be performed to correct these problems. After they are corrected, they
usually cause no further health issues. Children with Down syndrome may have frequent colds and
sinus and ear infections. These are treated early and aggressively to prevent hearing loss and chronic
infections. Low thyroid levels are more common in infants who have Down syndrome. It is
recommended that thyroid level testing be performed at least yearly. Some infants with Down
syndrome have eye problems such as cataracts (cloudy lenses) or crossed eyes (strabismus). Surgery
can help with these problems. Sucking problems related to low muscle tone or heart problems may
make breast feeding difficult to begin with. Occupational therapists, speech therapists, breast feeding
consultants and support groups usually have exact sources for the mothers of infants with Down
syndrome. Intelligence in individuals with Down syndrome ranges from low normal to very slow to
learn. At birth it is not possible to tell the level of intelligence a baby with Down syndrome will have.

The United States Of America And Spain Essay
The late 1800s was a high tension and tumultuous time for both the United States of America and
Spain. Spanish Colonialism had long been receding from its once powerful stronghold in the 16th and
17th centuries, and in the 1890s, the United States would make certain to diminish the last of Spain s
outlets. The precedent for the American, superpower perspective of the late 1800s is in large part due
to President James Monroe s Doctrine establishing the United States as the sole entity of social,
political, and economic interest in the Western Hemisphere. The Monroe Doctrine clearly spells out
that any territorial advances (or in this case, any territorial claims, whatsoever) would be recognized as
an act of aggression and the U.S. would act accordingly (hint, hint war). This document shaped the
United States as the sole enforcer of both commerce and democracy in the Western Hemisphere in the
minds of its constituents. Thusly, it is the least bit unusual to see President McKinley asking to declare
war against the Spanish in defense of his country s interest. President William McKinley s Declaration
of War is written to the Congress of the United States as a plea to go to war in defense of American
interests and the Cuban people. The document was written in 1898, and its objective was simple:
persuade Congress to allow him to declare war. Although the document may shape William McKinley
as a strong proponent of the now called Spanish American War, he very much wished to

Bicyclic Lactone Lab Report
In order to generate a bicyclic lactone in this experiment, a Diels Alder adduct was produced. The
bicyclic lactone to be generated was cis 1,3,3a,4,5,7a Hexahydro 5 methyl 3 oxo 4 isobenzofuran

quantitatively using percent yield. To prepare the Diels Alder adduct 0.40 g of 2,4 hexadien 1 ol was
added to a flask, then 5.00 mL of toluene and 0.40 g of maleic anhydride were added to the flask in
that order. The mixture was warmed and stirred to induce a reaction. The reaction progress was

starting materials and of the product. Melting point determination was performed on the product and
proton NMR spectrum was given. The IR spectrum revealed peaks at 1720 cm 1, which indicated the
presence of a lactone group, and 1730 cm 1, representing a functional group of a carboxylic acid

Biography Of Miles Davis Essay
Biography of Miles Davis
Born on May 26, 1926, Miles Davis is considered to be one of the most influential jazz musicians in
history. Being a trumpeter, keyboardist, composer, and band leader, Miles is responsible for the
popularization of many styles of jazz throughout his long and prolific career. Miles Dewey Davis was
born into a well to do family in the town of Alton, Illinois. The family owned a large portion of a farm
where Miles learned to ride horses as a young boy. In 1927 the family moved to East St. Louis. Miles
mother, Cleota Henry, encouraged him to play the violin while his father bought him a trumpet when

Instead of keeping with his studies, Miles was more concerned with his career as a musician in a band.
Miles made some of his first recordings in 1945 and also joined Charlie Parker s quintet. Though
Miles was not as developed during this time, his style was already easily recognizable and
distinguished. In 1949, Miles had the opportunity to lead a band which consisted of nine players, also
known as a nonet. The band used non traditional instruments in a jazz setting. Many consider this to
be the birth of. That same year Miles visited Europe and played at that year s Paris Jazz Festival in
May. Because of his contact with people in the New York Clubs, Miles became addicted to heroin.
Because of this, in 1953, Miles returned to his father s farm and remained there until his addiction was
broken. In 1954 Miles made a number of important recordings, and began to utilize the Harmon mute
which darkened the sound of his trumpet. Miles used this mute throughout the rest of his career. 1955
was perhaps one of the most important years of Mile s career. Miles played one his most popular solos
ever for Thelonius Monk s Round Midnight at the Newport Jazz Festival. Miles was almost
immediately popularized and continued to sign a record deal with Columbia and form his first quintet.

Biff
Biff is deceitful about his life but his dishonesty is compounded, as Willy is dishonest about him.
When Biff stole a football from the locker room when he was in high school, and he claimed that he
took it because the coach told him to work on his passing. Willy acts for a moment as if Biff should
return it, but when Hap implies that Biff was wrong for taking the ball, Willy defends Biff and
declares that the coach, rather than being angry with Biff for stealing, would have been proud and
impressed with Biff s initiative. Willy tells Biff that it s OK that he took the ball because the coach
likes him. Willy tells his son it s perfectly fine to steal from people, as long as you are well liked; they
ll let you get away with it. Willy finds it impossible to understand how someone who was as popular
and well liked as Biff was in high school, could have grown up to be such a failure. Willy always
believed that Biff s popularity would naturally lead to great success in the business world. But that s
not the way things have worked out for Biff, and Willy is baffled by it. Willy shows this by telling Biff
to pretend his work out West was business related instead

Ethnic Relations Affected by Apartheid s Laws in South Africa Over the years immigrants have
migrated from their native lands to different countries with the hopes and dreams of benefiting from
the valued resources other developed countries have to offer. Migration occurs mainly for the purpose
to gain better opportunities and life chances. In most cases, depending on an immigrant s personal
characteristics and physical traits being similar to that of the dominant groups the process of
assimilating into society is less difficult; however, for those that are not close in physical traits to the
dominant group have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Afrikaners created the National Party and this ethnic group of dominantly white politicians
became fearful of the South Africans as numerically they were out numbered. In order to remain the
dominant group and continue to hold political power, the Dutch Afrikaners created 317 government
laws which were related to ethnic segregation and restrictions based upon race. The purpose for
creating the discriminating laws were to maintain the white domination of the society and laws were
designed to acknowledge the rights of the white people but at the same time deny the rights of those
who were non white. The first order of business for the Nationalist Party was to separate the
population of South Africa according to race, geographic locations, social and political separation.
According to the Library of Congress, apartheid s legislation states that the Population Registration
Act of 1950 in which the organization in charge of the racial classification was conducted by the
Department of Home Affairs, designed to divide the country s population according to race. The
Department of Home Affairs was responsible for recording people by their racial group and as a result
of the group members were treated differently. This law formed the basis of apartheid and under the
legislation terms of the population registration act, all residents of South Africa were to be classified
as white, colored, or native (later called Bantu)

Effects Of Economics On Political Change
The findings of this study leads to puzzling discoveries. Moving forward, researchers should look at
effects of economics on political change in the South at a local level as well as at the state level. While
the findings suggest a decline in agriculture affected party strength, the more general question about
economic change affecting party strength/partisanship needs further exploration. There were more
economic changes occurring in the South besides agricultural decline. The South also experienced
increases in its manufacturing, government and services sectors during the time under study. Under
the current hypothesis as a community becomes less agricultural, people most people made more
money and became more susceptible economic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A mixed methods approach seems on the outset to be most appropriate for this future research,
because it allows for interviews with local party leaders to guide the statistical analyses. Also, most
people consider themselves citizens of a community more than they consider themselves citizens of a
state. Thus, individuals should be better able to notice the economic change on a community level
instead of a state level. The closest data that is publically available for community data is at the county
or municipal level. One particular problem with doing research at the county level is that not all data
one would want is available at that level. Missing data was a particularly troublesome problem for the
present analysis but there are some possibilities to provide a statistical fix to that problem. Some of
these issues may be solved using multilevel modeling to generate point estimates from large national
polls, however, a statistical fix does not cure the absence of data. One of the interesting findings of
this project concerned the effects of turnout on changes in party strength. There seem to be several
ways forward here. One can expand the study and see if changes in turnout also drove changes outside
of the South. This seems unlikely, however, because the South had such anemic turnout at the start of
the period under study while the rest of the nation did not. There are other ways to address this as
well. For example, I could look at cohorts of first time voters

The Career s Of Many Hip Hop Artist
N.W.A. influenced and started the career s of many hip hop artist. N.W.A. as a whole broke down the

Examples Of Workplace Discrimination
1. How do I define discrimination in my own words and discrimination prevention in my own words?
Discrimination is a long word, difficult pronunciation, tough to spell; yet, usage is exceedingly
common. Righteous teaching discrimination is simple to define. Unfair, unjust, underserved treatment
upon one is my views of discrimination. Discrimination is done intentionally. One cannot state unfair
treatment upon an induvial was mistaken.
Discrimination is highly found in the workplace. Workplace discrimination is instituted mainly by
employers; however, it transpires among employees. A few examples of workplace discrimination is
not being promoted, hired, friended, praised, heard, or given earned salaries. Leading causes of the
above examples contributes to race, ethnicity, religion, age, weight and gender.
Why should anyone be discriminated in the workplace? Working people in today s society should
know discrimination is immoral! Sadly, many working people are not righteous; therefore,
discrimination is still an ongoing problem. Discrimination prevention program training has been
developed; basically teaching working adults how to be fair.

Buckminsterfullerene Research Paper
Buckminsterfullerene or more commonly known as bucky balls is one of the types of carbon
allotropes. It is a spherical fullerene molecule containing 60 carbon atoms. The shape of a bucky ball
resembles that of a typical soccer ball and the specific name for the structure is truncated icosahedron.
It is formed of twenty hexagons and twelve pentagons with a carbon atom lying at each vertex. The
name buckminsterfullerene was named after the inventor Buckminster fuller, because one of his
designs of a geodesic dome structure was very similar to that of the 60 carbon fullerene. So the
inventors named him after the allotrope. However, Fuller and the general public tend to call them
buckyballs. Theoretical Bucky balls were developed in the 1970 s ... Show more content on

Bucky balls are extremely stable structures, they can withstand high temperatures and high pressures.
The exposed surface of the structure can interact with other molecules while retaining its spherical
geometry. Also, atoms and small molecules can be trapped inside the fullerene without reacting.
Carbon 60 can undergo 6 reversible reductions, but oxidation is irreversible. The first reduction needs
approximately 1.0 V, making it a fairly effective electron acceptor. It avoids having double bonds in
the pentagons, so electron delocalization is poor and results in the molecule not being superaromatic.
Superaromaticity is used to describe an extra stable nature of some aromatic macrocycle compounds.
These structure contains a number of aromatic rings. Carbon 60 behaves very much like an electron
deficient alkene and readily reacts with high electron density species. Fullerenes are sparingly soluble
in aromatic solvents such as toluene and carbon disulfide, but they are insoluble in water. Saturated
solutions of carbon 60 have a deep purple color which leaves a brown residue when it is evaporated.
The relatively narrow energy width of the band of molecular levels responsible for green light
absorption are the cause for this color change by single carbon 60

The Land As A Rival Of The Old Testament s Promise Land
Colonist were attracted to New England as a result of reports that depicted the land as a rival of the
Old Testament s promise land. In a nearly ironic set of ecological blunders the colonist would
drastically transform the land and the way of life of its native inhabitants. In essence their mercantilist
mind set would change the ecology of New England through trade, deforestation, and practices
associated with livestock. Upon arrival the colonist began to trade with the Indians. The colonist
would supply the Indians with goods such as brass and copper pots in exchange for animal furs. As
their relations with the natives continued colonist realized that the Native Americans valued trade
goods primarily as a status symbol [1]. This observation may have lean the colonist to begin trading in
wampum. Wampum is a strings of white and purple beads which Native Americans commonly traded
amongst themselves. The wampum were a symbol of wealth and power [2]. The colonial fur traders
began collecting vast quantities of this to trade for fur. Initially they would trade guns and
commodities for the wampum [3]. Then trade the wampum for the desired furs. However, in 1637 a
colonial group attacked the Peguots and took the wampum by force. The colonist considered this to be
a safer alternative to trading guns with the natives [3]. Trade with the colonist caused the Native
Americans to increase their hunting beyond that which was necessary for food gathering [4]. They

This committee decided that the United States should retain nuclear superiority, in the event that

Why Do Nietzsche Use Apollinian Categories
In the book, The Birth of Tragedy, by Nietzsche, the late 19th century philosopher uses the terms
Dionysian and Apollinian to use them as the two central principles in Greek culture. Apollinian was a
term derived from the God Apollo, which related to the sun, light, and clarity, whereas Dionysian
derived from the God Dionysius, which would often be thought of as the wine God that represented
drunkenness and ecstasy. Nietzsche uses Apollinian as the basis of all analytical distinctions. For this
aspect, all elements that belong to the individuality of man are Apollinian in nature. Furthermore, all
types of structure or form fall under this category because form serves to individualize or define that
which is formed. Consequently, a sculpture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, this aspect is directly opposed to Apollinian, because just like Apollinian follows an
analytical path, Dionysian, on the other hand, is related to all things that tend to break human
character. Such as madness and drunkenness, as well as all forms of ecstasy and enthusiasm fall under
this category. This is because these aspects of life tend to make man give in to his individuality.
Consequently, it is to no surprise that the German philosopher considered music to be one of the most
Dionysian of all the arts because it appeals to the human s chaotic and instinctive emotions, rather
than his formally reasoning mind. In fact, Nietzsche mentioned, The very element which forms the
essence of Dionysian music (and hence of music in general) is carefully excluded as un Apollinian
namely, the emotional power of the tone, the uniform flow of the melody, and the utterly incomparable
world of harmony. (Nietzsche, 40) Although in essence, Nietzsche did not generally consider music as
Apollinian, interestingly enough, music was not always an element that could be easily categorized in
either Dionysian or Apollinian. Since music can be very fluid, so can the effects that it creates on

My Experience With Mba Student Team Development
As a Project Manager (PM), developing high performing teams helps me deliver projects successfully.
Team members are like family; you don t get to choose them. In my 10 year Project Management
career, building productive teams of individuals with varying skills, gender, age, culture, work ethics,
has been my biggest challenge.
One of the most quoted Team development models was proposed by Bruce Tuckman in 1960. The five
developmental sequence are: Forming; Storming; Norming, Performing and Adjourning.
In this paper, I have used this model to compare and contrast my experience with the MBA student
team development exercise and my experience as PM in my current job. Why was my experience in
these 2 environments, different?
Stage 1 Forming: When enthusiastic individuals come together to form a team:
For the exercise, the teams were pre assigned. Our team consisted of a diverse group of folks from the
perspective of gender, ethnicity, age, professional background and experience. With the activity
duration set at 1 hour, the team did both, introduction and understanding of the assignment at the same
time. This team truly formed itself and equal leadership was established among the MBA students,
within the first minute or two
In the real world too, the project team members are pre assigned and they are excited and ready to
contribute. Unlike in the exercise, in the real world, team members don t establish equal leadership.
They look for a leader to lead and guide them. As

Emily Dickinson s Some Keep The Sabbath Going To Church
Although many of Emily Dickinson s poems are short they carry many meaningful and sayings and
ideas. The unique style of her poems has caused many to ponder at her works, but is nevertheless
monumental. The length and the dashes used by Dickinson is what makes her poems so interesting an
inspiring to read. In the poem Some keep the Sabbath going to Church , Dickinson uses dashes to
emphasize her points. The dashes also cause the reader to stop which allows for a unique rhythm in
the poem. At the time that this particular work was written the first two lines would have probably
caused someone to naturally stop, Some keep the Sabbath going to Church / I keep it staying at Home
(Dickinson 1 2). After each pause one can almost hear a lady or gentlemen from Dickinson s time
gasping at such an unpopular statement. To think that someone would go against the status quo and
say that she does not feel God s presence in church but rather at her house is baffling. However, the
last lines sums up the poems point nicely by saying, So instead of getting to Heaven, at last / I m

for what she has lost by the lines, Twice have I stood a beggar/ Before the door of God! (Dickinson 3

183% increase in the number of RealD screens installed. If this trend continues, the company s
position is likely to improve. It must also be noted that IMAX s current ratio decreased from 4.33 to
0.99. This is due to a 214% increase in bank indebtedness. It is of concern to see that RealD has only
59 cents in cash for every dollar of its current liabilities. This is not the best position when compared

Argumentative Essay On Confederate Flag
The Confederate flag has been around since 1861, as a symbol of endless war, and detestation towards
African Americans. Today, 154 years later, some states still incorporate the confederate flag into their
state flags. The Confederate flag does not show progression in history, rather it is offensive to many
groups and should be put to rest, because it does not promote unity in America. The Confederate flag
holds America back and keeps our country stuck in the past. Today the Confederate Flag is still
incorporated into five state flags. Those states are, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, and
Mississippi. The Confederate flag is still currently flying over South Carolina s capital, Columbia,
because of a state law. This law is known as The South Carolina Heritage Act of 2000. Section 1 10 30
of The South Carolina Heritage Act of 2000 states, The Infantry Battle Flag of the Confederate Army
of Northern Virginia (Confederate Battle Flag) displayed on the Confederate Soldiers Monument on

Governor Folsom also said, This has been a divisive issue in our state, and I believe it is time we put it
behind us and move our state forward (New York Times, 7). However the Confederate Flag was
originally created in 1861 during the First Battle of Manassas. Confederate soldiers had trouble
distinguishing which troops were carrying the American flag and which were hoisting what was then
the flag of the rebellious Southern states. In order to resolve this problem the Confederate Flag was
created, to avoid this confusion. During the Civil War, the Confederate Flag stood for war, conflict,
and southern pride. Today one in ten Americans have a positive reaction when they see the

Limitations Of Paparazzi By La Dolce Vita

Limitations of Paparazzi
The term paparazzi , defined as a freelance photographer , originates from the name Paparazzo . In a
film, La Dolce Vita, a character that played the photographer was named Paparazzo. This word comes
from an Italian word, which describes an annoying noise. The author of the film refers to the noise as
a buzzing insect, which is shown as the shutters of the camera. Generally people find insects
annoying, and typically their first reaction is to swat! Well, celebrities who are well known seem to
find the shutter and also the flash of the camera to also be quite annoying. Most celebrities are aware
of pictures taken of them due to fans wanting memories, or even reporters updating fans on recent
achievements. Paparazzi however, exceed certain privacy limits to get desired photos.
Paparazzi have been recognized as celebrity fist magnets due to celebrities always attacking the
paparazzi when they tend to annoy a celebrity. Most celebrities have reacted to them violently. They
also have been called human herpes because nobody wants them, but they ll always be around.
Paparazzi have irritated a lot of celebrities as soon as they step out of their home. Many photographers
believe that celebrities have chosen their career and in doing so, lost their right to privacy. Celebrities
usually go out of their way to avoid the paparazzi. Namely, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield who
have held up signs while leaving their

What Is Le Corbusier s View Of Classism
The Machine of Living.
In this essay one would read about how Classism challenged modernism or developed the modernist
movement and how modernism was used to create a new idea or style of living.
It will discuss Le Corbusier s view of classism and how his ideas of modernism influenced the future
of architecture and the design of a revolutionary building in Paris: Cité de Refuge.
Architecture was defined as a play of volumes under light, proportions and regulating lines by the
father of modernism Le Corbusier. His architectural philosophy was defined by Stephan Bayley as
elegant, simple and correct (Gerry, 2008). Classical architecture is defined as architecture which refers
to Greek and Roman architecture (classical antiquity) and also ... Show more content on

Cité de Refuge was the first chance that Le Corbusier had to deal with housing for the poor in a city.
(Roberts, 2010) (Army, 2017)
Cité de Refuge was to be a place not only to house the poor but to transform them into members of the
society. Le Corbisier saw Cité de Refuge as a machine for people to live in, work in and sleep in, he
saw it as an opportunity for them to learn how to live. The Cité consisted of dormitories, apartments
for single mothers, and a crèche for working mothers, a canteen and an area for the training of
workers. (Taylor, 1987)
Le Corbusier did intense research about city planning, plated glass and metal frames. Cité de refuge
was one of the first opportunities that Le Corbusier had to experiment with some of his ideas, research
and theories. Le Corbusier suggested a double curtain wall for the south façade of the building. The
wall worked on the concept of mechanically conditioned air between the opening of the two

Song Analysis Of Black Roses By John Bowen
In Black Roses , Bowen begins the song with piano chords played hard, but with gaps in between.
This is to grab the listeners attention, but at the same time put the emphasis on the words she is
singing. As she is striking these piano chords, she sings You can throw your words sharper than a
knife/And leave me cold/In another house on fire. Her voice is soft and somber. Her tone implies that
she has been defeated by forces beyond her control. The instrumentation at this point in the song is
only the piano and Bowen is forcefully striking the chords. This forcefulness is indicative of the forces
she feels she has been defeated by. What has defeated her is the relationship with her partner. This
relationship has collapsed just as her mother foretold. Bowen chose not to listen to her mother s sage
advice and now must live with the defeat she feels about the failed relationship with her partner as
well as the damage it has caused between Bowen and her mother. The texture is very thin at this point,
with vocals only being accompanied by the piano chords. This thin texture and absence of additional
musical accompaniment indicates the void she feels as a result of what has unfolded. The second verse
of Black Roses starts with Bowen singing the lyrics She told me twice, all her good advice/But I
couldn t see/I was clouded by your lies. The piano remains the only instrumental accompaniment to
Bowen s vocals, but it is now being played much more full and constant. It is

In March 2003 the Porsche brand faced a challenge without precedent in 55 years. Since the e launch
of the Porsche 356 in 1948, the brand had stood for expensive, high performance sports cars.
Its designs, varying little over the decades, formed and then came to reflect the notion of a classic n

Designed by Ferry s eldest son, the rear engine vehicle became a twentieth century design landmark.
In the 1970s, Porsche and Volkswagen collaborated on launching the 914. In 1972, Porsche became a

Porsche AG was nearly derailed by the U.S. stock market crash in 1987.

The Difference Between The Winter Olympics And The Winter...
Introduction
Welcome to the world of sport. A fast, competitive and difficult walk of life, where only the
determined and hardworking succeed. Any form of physical exercise requires coordination, skill,
strength and the basic motor movements. Physical disability impairs many people from being able to
compete at the level of able bodied people.
The Olympic Games Started in 1896. Started for all those able bodied sportsmen and woman looking
for universal competition. In later years the Paralympics was started for war veterans. In 1960 it was
no longer exclusive to war veterans and was opened to all those living with disabilities.
What is the difference between the winter Olympics and the winter Paralympics in terms of
qualification and concessions?
The winter Olympic games:
Alpine skiing, biathlon, bobsleigh, cross country skiing, curling, figure skating, freestyle skiing, ice
hockey, luge, Nordic combined, short track speed skating, skeleton, ski jumping, snowboarding and
speed skating are all 15 sports that take part in the winter Olympics. With each one of these sports you
need physical strength, mental strength and a fully functional body. The criterion for each sport is very

Being disabled is a very unfortunate thing, whether you were born disabled or later became impaired
either way it is still difficult to cope with. Sport however is one way in which physically or mentally
disabled people can enjoy time being active and at the same time stimulate muscle movement and
growth. The Paralympics is for those who are disabled in some way but are still capable of
preforming. The Paralympics has set concessions and requirements for those competing and the
competitor s level of disability is assessed prior. There are different categories set for the disabled and
their physical and mental abilities are assessed and they are then placed in their certain categories. To
compete at the Paralympics you have to have fit into one or more of the following

A Timeline of Civil Litigation in Atlanta, Georgia Civil litigation in Atlanta, Georgia is often a

and frustrating. If you are involved in civil litigation, taking the mystery out of the process will reduce
your stress and allow you to focus on the progression of your case. After all, the unknowns of the legal
process are what make it so exasperating to most individuals. The plaintiff is the individual that files a
lawsuit, which is also called a complaint. First, the plaintiff will meet with an attorney to discuss the
facts of the case and why the plaintiff may have the right to sue. The case may be discussed for several
months before ever filing a suit. Attorneys must make sure that claims are meritorious before a suit is
filed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Usually, a process server delivers a copy of the lawsuit in person to the defendants. The defendants
will have a certain period of time in which to respond to the lawsuit, called filing an answer. If the
defendants never respond to the lawsuit, they may be held in default, which means that the plaintiff
may receive the relief requested in the complaint, such as money damages. After an answer has been
filed, the parties engage in discovery, which is the exchange of documents and other evidence that
may be necessary for trial. This process may take months or a year or longer to complete. Depositions
and expert witness reports may also be necessary during discovery. After evidence has been
exchanged, the parties will either attempt to settle or head to trial for a judge and jury to decide the
fate of the case. Why Hire an Appeals Attorney in Atlanta,

their communities in Australia. Nowadays, there are a number of Chinese town in Australia and also,
in Australian universities, many Chinese people are studying. In Australian history, it is well known
that many Chinese labours worked at gold mines. Also, under the White Australian Policy, they
experienced racial discriminations. However, there is still some unknown history, that those Chinese
migrants had experienced here in Australia. This essay will investigate historical facts, which Chinese
migrants experienced the nineteenth century. Firstly, this essay will introduce several causes, which
led the Chinese to go to Australia. Secondly, it will argue that the Chinese people were not welcomed
migrants. Thirdly, it will explain how the Chinese migrants maintained their ethnic identity within
Australia. Next, it will explain how the Chinese established their own community in order to maintain
their own identities. Finally, it will examine that the Chinese race relationship with the Australian can
be fit to the psychological theory of racism.
There were several reasons, that led Chinese people migrate to Australia and those reasons are largely
different from those of Afro American slaves. Between 1839 and 1842, Britain and China had Opium

Asbestos
What is Asbestos?
Asbestos is a heat resistant silicate (rock forming) mineral. It is woven into fabrics which are used in
fire resistant and insulating other materials. Asbestos includes the mineral fibers chrysotile, amosite,
crocidolite, tremolite, anthophyllite, actinolite and any of these materials that have been chemically
treated or altered. These terms, do not refer to mineral description, but to a broad term that refers to
unique fibers. Asbestos has many versatile usage due to its capacity of withstanding heat. Years ago
while working for Consolidated Edison (power and electric plant) in New York, where I learned about
this substance. Power Plants such as Con Ed used the material largely in the insulation of pipes. ...

Its fire retardant properties made it desirable for industries, as well as the military. It wasn t until the
late 1800s, at the start of the Industrial Revolution As the mining and manufacturing of asbestos
exploded. Its resistance to chemicals, water and electricity made it an excellent insulator for the steam
engines, turbines, boilers, ovens and electrical generators that powered the New Age. The pliable
properties of asbestos made it an important building, binding and strengthening goods.
Despite all those uses, asbestos remains a danger to human health. Breathing in these microscopic
fibers can cause a variety of respiratory illnesses like asbestosis, mesothelioma and lung cancer.
Asbestos fibers become easily airborne, especially during regular maintenance of machinery or
materials containing the mineral, construction and repair work or demolition.
The federal government established multiple organizations, including OSHA and the Environmental
Protection Agency, to protect workers from dangerous occupational conditions such as asbestos
exposure. An estimated five million workers in America are required to wear respirators at work
because of OSHA regulations. Frequently cited OSHA standard violation is respiratory protection,
which involves harmful dusts, gases and vapors, and more specifically, microscopic asbestos

Nevertheless, they still could prove to be beneficial towards my final project.
Regarding my question, I am trying to find a variety of sources which portray differing perspectives as
I not only intend on recounting the actions of the West German Authorities, but also portray differing
views and criticisms of their response. From what I have gathered from my initial research, these
historical interpretations don t necessarily derive from specific schools of thought (as the event is quite
recent) but more so from differing sociopolitical/cultural regions of the world. These include a
Western view, such as American Simon Reeve, Israeli view such as Yarin Kimor and German
perspective such as Manfried Schreiber. Furthermore, some of these sources aren t necessarily
historical scholars but rather journalists, experts in their respective field, or simply significant
characters surrounding the crisis.
Another one of the major issues surrounding this topic is the limited amount of information readily
available. However, I have not let that deter me in fact I have used it as a motivating force. I believe
that this essay will, to a degree, be groundbreaking, as it looks specifically at the numerous errors and
inadequate preparation by the West Germans. This is something very few of the texts I have

  • 2. Spread Of Eurasia Main Idea: In Chapter 10, Diamond discusses, why agriculture spread more quickly in Eurasia. He goes on to explain how axis orientations affected the rate of speed of crops and livestock, and possibly the writing, wheels, and other inventions. Details: Eurasia lies mostly on an east west axis, while Africa and the Americas are mostly on a north south axis. Plants spread more easily from east to west then north to south. This is because plants are adapted to cycles of day/night (which are constant east to west) and climate (which does vary east west, but varies more, north to south). For example, local areas that are east and west of each other at the same latitude share exactly the same day length and its seasonal variations, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Homosexual Issues Analysis Report Issue Analysis Report Discrimination Against Homosexuals 1.0 Topic and Chosen Report Discrimination is defined as the unjust or prejudicial treatment towards certain groups or categories of a specified entity. Encompassed within the scope of discrimination is the pertinent subject matter, Discrimination Against Homosexuals in Today s Youth. As the dynamic generation of the current world grows exponentially vocal with their standpoints, certain folds in the society today express their negative outlook pertaining to homosexuals, leading to the ostracized generalization of the already shunned minority. Therefore, the subject matter of discrimination against homosexuals is rather apt as a form of oppression. 1.1 Critical Evaluation of Findings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dr. Friedman M (2014) emphasizes that although considerable gains have been made in the acceptance of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) into the general community, biasness is still prevalent and has very notable mental health consequences. This is due to the fact that homosexuals generally receive greater amounts of discrimination than heterosexuals (American Journal of Public Health 2011). A succinct paradigm to this includes a recent study which showed that homosexuals are more likely to commit suicide as a result of discrimination, when compared to heterosexual. This disparity is due to the discrimination and prejudice faced by homosexuals (DeAngelis 2002, Vol 33, No.2, Pg46). Discrimination against homosexuals takes a toll on the individuals targeted and as the evidence illustrates, discrimination in any form ushers in a strafing array of detrimental effects to the individuals ... • 5. Samuel Clemens Biography Essay Samuel L. Clemens was born on November 30, 1835. On this day Halley s comet blazed through the night sky. Clemens notably mentioned that since he came along when the comet did, he shall leave when the comet does. On April 21, 1910, the day the comet shined the brightest it had ever shown, Clemens passed from a heart attack. Ironically, this was also the day that Halley s comet made an exit from Earth s sight (Harper and Owens). Throughout the lifetime of the comet, Clemens became an American icon in literature. With the pen name Mark Twain, his humorous travel stories brought him to fame as he left the occupation of a news reporter. Twain chose this pen name based on his experiences from being a steamboat pilot on the Mississippi River. Crew men on the steamboat would shout Mark Twain if the depth of water was enough for the boat to travel through it. At the age of twenty seven, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tom Sawyer lives with his Aunt who adores him despite his childish actions throughout the novel. On the other hand, Huckleberry Finn lives with a widow and her sister who do not accept immaturity. Tom s family loves him although he may be a troublesome child, while Huck s dad had a savage life of abusing his child. Tom is forced to go to school and church by his aunt, but Huck has absolutely no responsibility as he is a symbol of freedom for the boys his age. Although Tom is a troublesome child, he knows his limits and when to stop. He understands how to be civilized, but he chooses not to be. Huck, on the other hand, has no ambition to be civilized and may not have any idea on how to become civilized. It is clear that Tom is more intelligent than Huck by the way it is portrayed in the novels of how the two boys talk and the words they use. Twain proves that opposites attract in these novels by making Tom and Huck become such great ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However they work hand in hand, by keeping to a timescale and without deviating from a design, a budget can be achieved. Civil engineering projects require a team to fulfil work needed to supply a project with the required equipment and materials. This team is regularly made up of five key roles. Project Manager, Main Contractor (the companies project manager of foreman) Lead designer (usually out sourced) Technical Manager (employed by the appointed contractor or working directly for the projects client) Health and Safety Manager (Independent nominee assigned to the project). Each role has expertise in specific fields bringing professional information to the project. The desired result is a proficient smooth running operation, compliant with health and safety regulations. • 7. Big Brother Symbolism Big Brother: Protector or Dark Representative As far as the eye can see, the posters so bold and ubiquitous boast Big Brother Is Watching You (Orwell 3). He is the leader of the Party, yet he is also the government itself; he is a symbol representing much more than what is implied. In 1984 by George Orwell, Big Brother represents the darkness behind the Party. This dark symbolism is evident in big brother s name using the principles of doublespeak, similarities between big brother and dictators, big brother s totalitarian like action and purpose, and the fear caused by big brother s unceasing watch on his people. Though Big Brother is a symbol for the Party s darkness, some readers interpret his character as harmless. Afterall, big brother is a name normally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Much like Hitler, Franco, and Stalin, Big Brother is worshipped by his followers, though the worship of Big Brother is especially important because it takes place of outlawed organized religion ( 1984 236). In addition to this, Big Brother also knows that truth is textual and thusly creates the Ministry of Truth to dispose of books and other such documentation of stories that do not suit his needs, much like how Hitler burned books for the same purpose (Ingersoll). This knowledge was carried out to such an extent that Big Brother could rewrite astronomy to make the stars mere miles away from Earth if such a truth accorded with the unrestrained exercise of power by the Party (Ingersoll). Another example of Big Brother s similarity to dictators can be found when Winston sees himself after he has been tortured by O Brien. The figure that Winston sees in the mirror, complete with [shrunken legs] so that the knees were thicker than the thighs, ribs was as narrow as that of a skeleton, and [astonishing]curvature of the spine, is hauntingly similar to survivors of the ... • 8. Inequality in Work Insecurity Inequality in Work Insecurity Name Institutional Affiliation Name: Inequality in Work Insecurity What is the difference between inequality and insecurity and how can these phenomena be explained theoretically? In life, we often hear about insecurity. This word has been used to describe individuals who do not inhibit confidence, they wear emotions on their sleeves and are armored with eh concept of pleasing other people. Insecurity has been described as a feeling of insecurity. The state of mind has been characterized by vulnerability and self doubt. This suggests that insecurity is a feeling of being unsafe. Insecure people tend to have a feeling that they are a target of harm or hurt (Chirkov, Ryan Models of Preference Change, 2011). A deeper elaboration states that insecurity is a fear of not being safe. Many people are of the opinion that insecurity is a psychological state, lack of confidence and immaturity. Insecure people always feel that they are targets of rejection, and expect to be failures in life. They are always afraid of risks. All this can sabotage any leader. On the other hand, whereas insecurity means a lack of self confidence, inequality refers to a disparity and a lack of opportunity, treatment, and status because of the differences. In addition, inequality means not being even, lacking smoothness, and being irregular. Synonyms associated with inequality include prejudice, disproportional, diversity and bias (Elliott Atkinson, 1999). Marxist ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Shear Wave Elastography Analysis Shear wave elastography technique Shear wave elastography{SWE} is a novel technique for obtaining elastograms of soft tissue by tracking the transverse shear waves that spread laterally away from amechanical disturbance of the tissue. They have special properties that differ from both the longitudinal waves of conventional ultrasound imaging (which relies on the bulk modulus of elasticity) and from conventional compression elastography. They travel at few metres per second, depending on the visco elastic properties of the tissue, and are rapidly attenuated, so that for practically achievable disturbances they have dissipated after travelling for afew centimeters(101). SWE is based on the principle of acoustic radiation force. With use of light ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... the information on the propagating shear wave including the velocity of the shear wave could be measured by obtaining radiofrequency images with a high frame rate , which can be used to generate a tissue displacement map. then ,the elastic property for quantitative estimation is calculated by the propagating velocity of shear wave .ARFI, acoustic radiation force impulse, Woo Kyoung Jeong 2014) (104). The recommended technique for SWE was to image the lesion with no pressure induced by the transducer. After a few seconds of immobilization to allow the SWE image to stabilize, the SWE image was frozen and saved(104). The size and location of the ROI was standardized as follows: The anterior posterior margin of the ROI was manipulated to include the area from the subcutaneous fat layer to the pectoral muscle layer, and the lateral margin was adjusted to include at least 5 mm of breast tissue adjacent to the lesions, because the maximum areas of stiffness in malignant lesions were always found in the peritumoral region rather than in the lesion itself ... Descriptive Essay On My Home House Fun, Love, Comfort in the Home with the Green Door In a small town called Whigham located in the southwest part of Georgia is a home numbered 201 in the middle of Harrell Avenue Northwest. The home is shaded by a mighty oak tree, its exterior is white in color with a forest green metal door and window trim painted forest green to match the door. On the outside this house is full of plant life, two domestic dogs that guard the home from morning to night, and wild animals living off the provisions of the land. The inside of the house is full of geckos, family, and love. This is the house I was raised in since my mother and father brought me home from Grady General Hospital in the month of January in 1991. This home will forever be my safety and my delight. This small family home has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, one laundry room, a pantry with a dog kennel built on the side, a kitchen, and a coat closet in the foyer. The entire house was located on one level except two of the bedrooms which is located down the stairs on the front of the house; the bedroom to the left down the stairs was my room. My room walls were painted baby blue in color with a bright orange glass sun located over my headboard that was shaped like skyscrapers in New York City. • 13. The Attention Span Of Goldfish Have Longer Attention Spans... Goldfish have longer attention spans than Americans. Yes, you read that correctly. As you may already know, the attention span is the amount of time an individual is able to concentrate on one particular action. However, you most likely did not know that the average attention span of a human being has dropped from 12 seconds in 2000 to 8 seconds in 2013. (Brenner) The average attention span of goldfish is 9 seconds and due to the effects of various sources of media, this is now one second greater than the average human. Over the years of exposure to social media and live updates, American culture has progressively shortened the attention spans of our citizens, and this is prevalent in the work of famous musicians and their album sales. Although there are many different forms of media that have been impacted in this attention span shift, I would like to emphasize the shift in music sales. The steady decrease in attention span correlates directly with album sales over the last 35 years. I have selected 3 albums, released in 1980, 1990, and 2000, to show the steady decline in album sales. I chose ACDC s Back in Black for its iconic history, Madonna s The Immaculate Collection for its unique impact, and Eminem s The Marshal Mathers LP for its distinct recognition. The sales of these albums show the decline in album sales over time. Each of these massively popular artists had less and less success selling albums, compared to individual songs in the music industry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When there is a heart defect currently in an infant with Down syndrome, the infant is referred to a pediatric cardiologist for medical attention or to a pediatric cardiac surgeon for early surgical repair. Some infants with Down Syndrome have difficulties with swallowing or they may have blockages in their bowels. Surgery can be performed to correct these problems. After they are corrected, they usually cause no further health issues. Children with Down syndrome may have frequent colds and sinus and ear infections. These are treated early and aggressively to prevent hearing loss and chronic infections. Low thyroid levels are more common in infants who have Down syndrome. It is recommended that thyroid level testing be performed at least yearly. Some infants with Down syndrome have eye problems such as cataracts (cloudy lenses) or crossed eyes (strabismus). Surgery can help with these problems. Sucking problems related to low muscle tone or heart problems may make breast feeding difficult to begin with. Occupational therapists, speech therapists, breast feeding consultants and support groups usually have exact sources for the mothers of infants with Down syndrome. In my case, discussing my options with a student advisor enabled this to happen. The empathic support I received was a turning point, rather than my previous sense of loss, I suddenly had options to consider rather than completely dropping out of university I could enroll on a new course immediately, or put my place at UWE on hold and defer for a year. • 17. The United States Of America And Spain Essay The late 1800s was a high tension and tumultuous time for both the United States of America and Spain. Spanish Colonialism had long been receding from its once powerful stronghold in the 16th and 17th centuries, and in the 1890s, the United States would make certain to diminish the last of Spain s outlets. The precedent for the American, superpower perspective of the late 1800s is in large part due to President James Monroe s Doctrine establishing the United States as the sole entity of social, political, and economic interest in the Western Hemisphere. The Monroe Doctrine clearly spells out that any territorial advances (or in this case, any territorial claims, whatsoever) would be recognized as an act of aggression and the U.S. would act accordingly (hint, hint war). This document shaped the United States as the sole enforcer of both commerce and democracy in the Western Hemisphere in the minds of its constituents. Thusly, it is the least bit unusual to see President McKinley asking to declare war against the Spanish in defense of his country s interest. President William McKinley s Declaration of War is written to the Congress of the United States as a plea to go to war in defense of American interests and the Cuban people. The document was written in 1898, and its objective was simple: persuade Congress to allow him to declare war. Although the document may shape William McKinley as a strong proponent of the now called Spanish American War, he very much wished to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A mixed methods approach seems on the outset to be most appropriate for this future research, because it allows for interviews with local party leaders to guide the statistical analyses. Also, most people consider themselves citizens of a community more than they consider themselves citizens of a state. Thus, individuals should be better able to notice the economic change on a community level instead of a state level. The closest data that is publically available for community data is at the county or municipal level. One particular problem with doing research at the county level is that not all data one would want is available at that level. Missing data was a particularly troublesome problem for the present analysis but there are some possibilities to provide a statistical fix to that problem. Some of these issues may be solved using multilevel modeling to generate point estimates from large national polls, however, a statistical fix does not cure the absence of data. One of the interesting findings of this project concerned the effects of turnout on changes in party strength. There seem to be several ways forward here. One can expand the study and see if changes in turnout also drove changes outside of the South. This seems unlikely, however, because the South had such anemic turnout at the start of the period under study while the rest of the nation did not. There are other ways to address this as well. It is formed of twenty hexagons and twelve pentagons with a carbon atom lying at each vertex. The name buckminsterfullerene was named after the inventor Buckminster fuller, because one of his designs of a geodesic dome structure was very similar to that of the 60 carbon fullerene. The exposed surface of the structure can interact with other molecules while retaining its spherical geometry. Also, atoms and small molecules can be trapped inside the fullerene without reacting. Carbon 60 can undergo 6 reversible reductions, but oxidation is irreversible. The first reduction needs approximately 1.0 V, making it a fairly effective electron acceptor. It avoids having double bonds in the pentagons, so electron delocalization is poor and results in the molecule not being superaromatic. Superaromaticity is used to describe an extra stable nature of some aromatic macrocycle compounds. These structure contains a number of aromatic rings. Carbon 60 behaves very much like an electron deficient alkene and readily reacts with high electron density species. Fullerenes are sparingly soluble in aromatic solvents such as toluene and carbon disulfide, but they are insoluble in water. In essence their mercantilist mind set would change the ecology of New England through trade, deforestation, and practices associated with livestock. Upon arrival the colonist began to trade with the Indians. The colonist would supply the Indians with goods such as brass and copper pots in exchange for animal furs. Why Do Nietzsche Use Apollinian Categories In the book, The Birth of Tragedy, by Nietzsche, the late 19th century philosopher uses the terms Dionysian and Apollinian to use them as the two central principles in Greek culture. Apollinian was a term derived from the God Apollo, which related to the sun, light, and clarity, whereas Dionysian derived from the God Dionysius, which would often be thought of as the wine God that represented drunkenness and ecstasy. Nietzsche uses Apollinian as the basis of all analytical distinctions. For this aspect, all elements that belong to the individuality of man are Apollinian in nature. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, this aspect is directly opposed to Apollinian, because just like Apollinian follows an analytical path, Dionysian, on the other hand, is related to all things that tend to break human character. Such as madness and drunkenness, as well as all forms of ecstasy and enthusiasm fall under this category. This is because these aspects of life tend to make man give in to his individuality. Consequently, it is to no surprise that the German philosopher considered music to be one of the most Dionysian of all the arts because it appeals to the human s chaotic and instinctive emotions, rather than his formally reasoning mind. In fact, Nietzsche mentioned, The very element which forms the essence of Dionysian music (and hence of music in general) is carefully excluded as un Apollinian namely, the emotional power of the tone, the uniform flow of the melody, and the utterly incomparable world of harmony. Team members are like family; you don t get to choose them. In my 10 year Project Management career, building productive teams of individuals with varying skills, gender, age, culture, work ethics, has been my biggest challenge. One of the most quoted Team development models was proposed by Bruce Tuckman in 1960. The five developmental sequence are: Forming; Storming; Norming, Performing and Adjourning. In this paper, I have used this model to compare and contrast my experience with the MBA student team development exercise and my experience as PM in my current job. Why was my experience in these 2 environments, different? Stage 1 Forming: When enthusiastic individuals come together to form a team: For the exercise, the teams were pre assigned. Our team consisted of a diverse group of folks from the perspective of gender, ethnicity, age, professional background and experience. With the activity duration set at 1 hour, the team did both, introduction and understanding of the assignment at the same time. This team truly formed itself and equal leadership was established among the MBA students, within the first minute or two In the real world too, the project team members are pre assigned and they are excited and ready to contribute. Unlike in the exercise, in the real world, team members don t establish equal leadership. They look for a leader to lead and guide them. As ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The unique style of her poems has caused many to ponder at her works, but is nevertheless monumental. The length and the dashes used by Dickinson is what makes her poems so interesting an inspiring to read. In the poem Some keep the Sabbath going to Church , Dickinson uses dashes to emphasize her points. The dashes also cause the reader to stop which allows for a unique rhythm in the poem. At the time that this particular work was written the first two lines would have probably caused someone to naturally stop, Some keep the Sabbath going to Church / I keep it staying at Home (Dickinson 1 2). After each pause one can almost hear a lady or gentlemen from Dickinson s time gasping at such an unpopular statement. To think that someone would go against the status quo and say that she does not feel God s presence in church but rather at her house is baffling. However, the last lines sums up the poems point nicely by saying, So instead of getting to Heaven, at last / I m going, all along (Dickinson 11 12). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It appears that IMAX is managing its assets well. This income may however be generated by using the money that it has raised by borrowing funds. A comparison of both the company s ROE values indicates that IMAX generated more wealth for its stakeholders. This value however fails to consider the impact that IMAX s debt may have on its profitability. 2) IMAX s Financial Position Compared to RealD. This is mostly due to a 183% increase in the number of RealD screens installed. If this trend continues, the company s position is likely to improve. Today, 154 years later, some states still incorporate the confederate flag into their state flags. • 45. Song Analysis Of Black Roses By John Bowen In Black Roses , Bowen begins the song with piano chords played hard, but with gaps in between. This is to grab the listeners attention, but at the same time put the emphasis on the words she is singing. As she is striking these piano chords, she sings You can throw your words sharper than a knife/And leave me cold/In another house on fire. Her voice is soft and somber. Her tone implies that she has been defeated by forces beyond her control. The instrumentation at this point in the song is only the piano and Bowen is forcefully striking the chords. This forcefulness is indicative of the forces she feels she has been defeated by. What has defeated her is the relationship with her partner. This relationship has collapsed just as her mother foretold. Bowen chose not to listen to her mother s sage advice and now must live with the defeat she feels about the failed relationship with her partner as well as the damage it has caused between Bowen and her mother. The texture is very thin at this point, with vocals only being accompanied by the piano chords. This thin texture and absence of additional musical accompaniment indicates the void she feels as a result of what has unfolded. The second verse of Black Roses starts with Bowen singing the lyrics She told me twice, all her good advice/But I couldn t see/I was clouded by your lies.
