Life In A Tide Pool Research Paper
Ocean water is always moving, and gravity from the sun and the moon pulling on the waters of the
ocean causes what s called tides. Each day there are two high tides, when the water moves higher onto
the beach, and two low tides, when the water moves further away from the beach back out toward the
main body of water. A tidepool is a pool of water left behind by the ocean tides. Oysters, seabirds, blue
crabs, and cordgrass can all live in a tidepool. Let s explore the tidepool habitat.
When high tides come up onto the beach, the water brings animals and plants with it. Tide pools are
formed when low tide takes the water back out toward the sea, and some water gets trapped and left
behind. Things like rocks and low spots, like shallow holes, can keep the water from leaving the beach
area. Plants and animals can make a tidepool their home, or habitat. A habitat is the environment in
which plants and animals live.
Plants and animals in a tidepool habitat live in an aquatic habitat, or water environment. Life in a tide
pool is not easy. Although high tide brings into the tide pool more fresh seawater, animals, and plants,
the waves are very powerful. Also, once low tide happens again, the tide pool begins ... Show more

Some creatures found in tide pools, such as starfish and anemones, have special suction cup type of
feet that are sticky and help them to securely attach to solid things such as rocks so they won t get
washed away by the powerful incoming waves. Starfish, also called sea stars, typically have five arms,
but some species of starfish have 10 or even 40 arms! Their colors help them hide from predators, and
they have bony, hard skin to also help protect them. The sticky foot of the sea anemone has venom
filled tentacles that rise up from it and surround the mouth. If prey, such as fish, get injected with the
venom, the tentacles then guide the prey into the

Themes Of Catch 22
Catch 22 s Recurrent Themes as Real World Issues
Heller provides a satirical depiction of military bureaucracy and authoritarianism through the many
antics of a B 25 bombardier, Yossarian. When Catch 22 was first released, its reviews were polarizing.
Some critics praised its raunchy humor and depiction of war, in all of its gruesome detail. Others
loathed its seemingly nonsensical plot structure and repetitiveness. Heller, born in 1923, was part of
the G.I. Generation and served during World War II in the Army Air Corps as a bombardier. He flew
sixty missions, but one drastically affected Heller. In a flight to Avignon, after dropping his bombs, his
pilot went into a large climb but nearly stalled the plane s engines. In order to stop ... Show more

He would plead insanity, but he cannot due to the Catch 22 principle that requires him to file a report
of insanity; however, this would prove he is actually sane because he fears for his own life. Yossarian
witnesses the death or disappearance of most of his close friends before the end of the book, leaving
him with nothing to lose. In a final act of defiance, Yossarian proclaims that he is not flying any more
missions. The officers take him into custody and give him an offer: go home to the United States and
spread the good word about the war effort, or be court martialed. He takes the first offer, but then goes
AWOL in a B 25 on a route to Switzerland (Heller). The Catch 22 principle and Yossarian s defiant
acts create a picture of the effects of authoritarianism, greed, as well as military bureaucracy as seen
through the eyes of Heller during the 1950s and 1960s.
The Catch 22 principle functions as a literary device repeatedly throughout the book as a
representation of authority s theft of personal freedom. The principle is repeatedly used as a
justification for obscene acts and statements in the book. For example, at one point Military Police
officers raid a brothel frequented by the soldiers and officers. They ransack the building and destroy
everything that is breakable. When Yossarian arrives to the brothel, an old woman is worried sick
about all of the prostitutes and says Catch 22 says they have a right to do

4 Functions of Management
The management process contains four basic functions; planning, organizing, leading and controlling.
By using these key tools, one can create an organization as a whole consisting of unified parts acting
in harmony to achieve goals, both successfully and proficiently. It is vital for an organization manager
to implement these functions to ensure the success of the company. The functions of management are
described, according to (Bateman, Snell, 2004) as follows: Planning is specifying the goals to be
achieved and deciding in advance the appropriate actions needed to achieve those goals. Planning
activities include analyzing current situations, anticipating the future, determining objectives, deciding
in what types of activities the company ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One guy has the job of inventory. He has to take inventory of all equipment. He has to gather all users
names and assign them with a workstation. And the last guy has to work with the other IT
departments, with the information at hand from the inventory, and associate each workstation with a
printer package and workstation object. Our manager has to also organize the rollout. How are we
going to get to the new location and what is the time frame which this needs to be completed. Leading
is going to also be an important factor with this project. Our manager needs to motivate us to actually
wanting to work very late on Friday and all day Saturday. Our manager needs to be able to
communicate with us and let us know what we have to do at that very moment. The leader needs to
keep us on the right track and focus on the goal at hand. This entails him to be present during the
rollout. I believe we will be motivated if he is present during the rollout, giving a helpful hand where
ever he can. Even if it isn t much, anything is better than nothing at all. The final function is
controlling. Management will have to monitor our progress during the rollout and decide what actions
need to be taken to improve. In past projects similar to this one, we ran into a few problems and
management had to reconfigure its game plan to make everything work out fine in the end. In one
instance, the cubicles that were

The Effects Of Excessive Amounts Of Preservatives On The Food
There are numerous problems going on in America currently; some have more attention than others.
The declining health due to a poor diet in America is one problem that is recently receiving more
attention, as it should. However, a major factor is being overlooked. Excessive amounts of additives
placed in food is a problem. These additives are causing numerous health problems that are literally
killing us. I am bringing up the idea that we need to demand the government and FDA to better
monitor what goes into our food. Consumers also need to demand a change. This means choosing not
to buy preserved food, cutting back on the unnatural foods, and supporting farmer s markets. In this
paper, I will argue that the excessive amounts of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just like it is easy and quick to buy and consume preserved foods, it easier to make them this way. By
adding preservatives, producers are able to lengthen the amount of time that they are still considered
safe to eat. They are also used to add coloring, flavoring, and vitamins or minerals that the food would
otherwise be lacking. There are two types of additives, natural and unnatural. Natural additives are
items such as salt, sugar, and vinegar. Unnatural additives are monosodium glutamate (a food
enhancer), benzoic acid (a preservative used in fruit juices), and food stabilizers such as gums and
waxes (H.S. Jeon). In addition to these, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is allowing about
3,000 more additives such as these in our food.
Excessive amounts of additives in our food is a problem that is not receiving enough attention from
the government. Companies also seem unconcerned with the problem because they are able to make
large amounts of money by selling items in larger packs. The shelf life of food is extended due to the
preservatives, which means it is cheaper for the consumer as well. Rather than having to buy food
continuously because it spoils, families are now able to buy food that will last for long amounts of
time, which means they will have to buy less.
Some argue that preservatives in our food is not as big of a problem as we are making it to be. To
provide some information on the

Canon Scripture And Canon Of Scripture
Canon of Scripture When we talk about Scripture, we have to discuss the source of our revelation. In
fact, without an understanding and personal standpoint/beliefs on the canon of Scripture, one is not
able to build a solid foundation in other matters regarding Scripture, including the authority of
Scripture, the inerrancy, the clarity, the necessity, and the sufficiency. Often the canon of Scripture is a
prevalent topic in the Christian faith among believers as there is a debate which books of the Holy
Bible are considered to be part of the canon. However, although there are other books that have been
added (including the Deutro Chronical Books in the Roman Catholic church), there are in fact only 66
books in the canon of Scripture. There are 39 Old Testament books and 27 New Testament books that
are included in the canon of Scripture. While some churches (including the Roman Catholic Church)
believe that the church should determine what books are in the New Testament canon, God is
responsible for the canon of Scripture. The Old Testament canon includes the Pentateuch Books
(Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy), the Historical Books (Joshua, Judges,
Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, and Ester),
the Poetical Books (Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon), and the Prophetical
Books ( Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah,

Physical Environment Analysis
A Physical Environment Context
As a young child my parents always encouraged us to go outside and play. I would go ride bikes with
me friends in the neighborhood as well as go to her house and play dolls a lot. My mother was a stay
at home mom and was always around if we needed something, but looking back I don t know what
she really did during the day. Dad would go off to work at his construction job and we just got to be
kids playing and having fun. We didn t have a lot of family vacations but I can remember a fishing trip
my dad took my brother and I on. It was only two hours away but it was interesting. Unfortunately it
was cut short due to my mom needing emergency back surgery. It was not until my senior year of high
school, that our family went to Darien Lake for an entire week. We had a great time riding rides and
making memories that we still talk about today. Once my brother and I started having families and
children of our own, we both understood more the value of spending that one on one time with our
kids. About seven years ago, our entire family, all eleven of us at the time, took a family trip to Disney
World. That was a wonderful time, as we were able to see our children playing and interacting with ...

to see friends I would write to throughout the year. Once I was old enough I was aloud to go to senior

Alfred Hitchcock Lifeboat Women
In the mid twentieth century, America was always seen as a role model to other countries due to their
great economy and social contract. However, during the Second World War Americans weren t
completely aware of the actual incompleteness of the social contract. In Alfred Hitchcock s Lifeboat,
this imperfectness of the contract became aware as the characters explored many tensions regarding
gender, race, and morals. These interactions foreshadow upcoming changes in America such as the
New Woman and African American s fight for rights, and it also hints at the decision of type of
government America should have in the future. World War II was a major turning point for women
during the war (McEuen, Women, Gender, and World War II ). Beforehand, ... Show more content on

Still, millions of African American men and women registered for the draft ( African Americans in
WWII ). During the war, however, it was still very segregated and they were only used as extra people
to help fight against Germany (Cochran Lecture 3/16/17). In the movie, a middle aged black man,
called Joe, arrives on the lifeboat not too long after the first couple people. Joe s character is a great
reflection of blacks in society, in that he is always filmed sitting away from everyone and is treated
like a servant. He represents the segregation that is happening with African Americans during the war.
For example, when asked if he wanted to vote on what happens to the prisoner of war Joe replies, Do I
get to vote too? I guess I d rather stay out of this, hinting at the reality that he wouldn t be able to vote
if it wasn t for the certain circumstances. Joe s character within the group shows the audience that
even when coming together to achieve the same goals, he is still treated like a servant or entertainer,
which challenges the current social contract. Likewise, African Americans fighting in the war are
going through the same situation. Even when they are denied protections and rights at home, they
fight alongside whites for the same goal: democracy (Cochran Lecture 3/16/17). The movie does a
good job at showing the audience the imperfectness of the social contract this way, and with the

Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs Theory
The motivation of a human being is an interesting subject. There many reasons for a person to do the
same action. There are also many theories of the motivation of a human being. For this paper, the
authors will look at the motivation of Theodore Roosevelt to fulfill Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs. We
will look how President Roosevelt was motivated to act throughout his life through each stage of the
Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs.
Maslow s Theory
The Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs theory is a theory that attempts to summarize motivation. Maslow s
theory is a biopsychosocial theory of motivation. A biopsychosocial theory means that it accounts for
the biological needs and the psychosocial needs of a person. (Carpenter Huffman, 2013) Maslow s
Hierarchy of Needs Theory was first developed by Abraham Maslow in a 1943 paper. (Maslow, 1943)
Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs Theory works simply. It says that a person will meet baser or more
primitive needs first before fulfilling more advanced or sophisticated needs. To the lay person, thus
seems to be true. The hierarchy of needs are in the following order from simple to complicated:
Physiological Needs Hunger, thirst, and maintenance of internal state of the body; Safety Needs to feel
secure and safe, to seek pleasure and avoid pain; Belonging and Love Needs to affiliate with others, be
accepted, and give and receive affection; Esteem Needs to achieve, be competent, gain approval, and
excel; and Self Actualization Needs

Karl Marx and Marx Weber Essay
Karl Marx and Marx Weber The latter part of the nineteenth century was teeming with evolved social
and economical ideas. These views of the social structure of industrial society came about through the
development of ideals taken from past revolutions such as the Industrial Revolution which steamed
ahead paving the way for growing commerce, and widened the gap between the classes. The
development of a capitalist society was a very favorable goal in the eyes of the bourgeoisie. But it had
negative implications on was the working class and the proletarians who were exploited a great deal

Weber was elected to the Soviet where he met Kurt Eisner, its leader. Eisner was a creative and
innovative man who seemed to know what to do when no one else did. Weber considered him an
archetype of the charismatic leader and wrote his theories under his silhouette. Weber s primary works
include The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism.
Weber can be said to agree with Marx concerning the alienation of the individual in Industrial Society.
For Weber this centers around the rationalization of the West due to the spread of bureaucracy. Weber
s belief was that Industrial Societies inevitable trend was to more and more rationalization. Thus he
was certain bureaucracies were the most efficient and most rational known means of exercising
authority over human beings. Offices are ranked in a hierarchical order and their operations are
characterized by impersonal rules also appointments are made according to specialized qualifications.
Therefore bureaucracies were thought to be reliable, precise and stable. Bureaucracies were also based
on legitimate authority, in that it functioned either on the basis of procedures that could be altered or
through a system of rules and regulations. But Weberian bureaucracies faced the problem of control
and enforcing powers

Who Is Vincent Donovan
Vincent Donovan was an out of the box thinker when he traveled to the Masai people in hopes to
spread the gospel in hopes that these people would become Christian. In this paper it will address
hindrance that Donovan faced, his views of Christology and soteriology in relation to the Christian
faith perspective, and my own views on how well I believe that Donovan portrayed Christianity.
One of the biggest hindrances for Donovan while dealing with the Masia was the culture difference in
how situations were handled. As stated by Donovan (1995) with these Africans the purpose of words
is not to establish logical truth, but to set up social relationships with others. (p. 23) Donovan goes on
to explain a story where in Masia culture they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also ran the fear that if a majority of the community rejects Christianity then he would lose the
fence sitters to peer pressure to not believe in Christianity. As Donovan (1995) states A
community...will act as a unit, accepting you or rejecting you together... it is not possible or desirable
to convert the Masai as individuals, but it is possible to evangelize them as groups.
A second hindrance for Donovan was getting the Masia people to listen to his preaching of
Christianity without receiving anything for it. The Masia people were very accustomed to missionaries
bringing things in order to bribe the people to accept Christianity. He was aware of this set back from
the beginning and how this shadows the true story of Jesus and what Christianity is about at the core.
Donovan made it clear at this first meeting with the people of his true intentions while preaching.
Along the same lines of not listening to Donovan, making sure that the Masai had a mind free of
preconceptions... there is no other way to deal with the subject that is so strange to us. (Donovan,
1995). This was hard to do because of the past history of the Catholic church coming to the Masai
people. Donovan had to fight the expectations they held of his visit and reset their minds to take in the
knowledge and information that Donovan wanted to teach.
The illiteracy of the Masai people deemed to also be a very big hindrance to Donovan. He had to

The Role Of A School Counselor
The role of a school counselor has taken on numerous descriptions in the last decade. Although the
American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and Texas Education Code (TEC) provide the basic
roles and responsibilities of school counselors, every school district and even campus has modified
that description to fit the needs of the campus. Every administrator, teacher, student, and counselor
may provide a different explanation of the role that counselors play in education. Regardless of the
role description or explanations provided by counselors themselves, the primary focus of a school
counselor is to fully develop each student s academic, career, personal, and social abilities (Tex. Educ.
Code § 33.006).
The role of a school counselor can be both rewarding and challenging. One of the most challenging
aspects of being a school counselor is managing multiple duties (K. Hancock, personal
communication, August 19, 2014). K. Hancock is also the district testing coordinator, which according
to the ASCA, is noted as being an inappropriate counseling duty. The role of a school counselor, in
regards to testing, is to interpret the results of these tests and to analyze them in conjunction with
multiple measures of student achievement (ASCA, 2005). During testing season, K. Hancock has to
utilize her time planning and preparing for state assessments rather than focusing on primary
counseling roles. During this time, she must extend her work hours to ensure she is able to

Compare And Contrast Grant And Lee
The two generals in the Civil War were Ulysses S. Grant, who commanded the Union Army, and
Robert E. Lee, who commanded the Confederate Army. The two commanding generals were similar in
many ways, but were also very different. For example, General Ulysses S. Grant and General Robert
E. Lee both graduated from West Point Military Academy, but Grant graduated twenty first in a class
of thirty four in 1843, while Lee graduated second in his class of 1829. Another example would be
that Grant had a reputation for being a tough fighter in battle who would never give up; while Lee was
known for his knowledge in being able to know how to move an army quickly over many miles and
had a great sense of when to attack and when to withdraw. Individuals who ... Show more content on

Johnston would then attack the patrol, by driving the surprised bluecoats back near Shiloh Church.
Throughout the day, the Confederates battered the Union army, driving it back towards Pittsburg
Landing and threatening to trap it against the Tennessee River. many troops on both sides had no
experience in battle. The chances for a complete Confederate victory diminished as troops from Buell
s army began arriving and Grant s command on the battlefield shored up the sagging Union line. Later
in the middle of the afternoon, Johnston rode forward to direct the Confederate attack and was struck
in the leg by a bullet, severing an artery and causing him to quickly bleed to death. General Pierre G.
T. Beauregard assumed control, and halted the advance at nightfall. The Union army was driven back,
but it did not back. Later that day, Grant was joined by the vanguard of the Buell s army. With an
advantage in terms of troop numbers, Grant counterattacked on April 7. The tired Confederates slowly
retreated, but they inflicted heavy casualties on the Yankees. By nightfall, the Union was able to drive
the Confederates back to Shiloh Church, recapturing grisly reminders of the previous day s battle such
as the Hornet s Nest, the Peach Orchard and Bloody Pond. The Confederates finally limped back to

Aristotle s Virtue By Aristotle
Virtue is the moral excellence of a person that cannot be taught. Morally excellent people have
characteristics that are constructed of virtues that are viewed as good to society. He or she may be
equipped with such characteristics like: honesty, respectfulness, courageousness, or being trust worthy.
Because of these positive traits, he or she is responsible of doing the right thing no matter the
situation, and does not bend the law for personal affection, urges or desires, but respects and follows
values and principles. Some people might say that good traits are teachable and that they are
developed through good parenting, which they can be, but we re not perfect. No matter what one is

The word honesty , for example, cannot exist in telling the truth only once. It is integrally related to,
practical wisdom, the whole of what a person needs in order to live well. It is also a trait of character
that is essential for leading a satisfying life. Aristotle lists justice among the virtues. A virtuous person
not only has a sense of fair treatment but can also determine what controls fairness. The virtues are not
merely means to happiness but are themselves constituents of it. Happiness does not consist solely on
what we get in life but also includes who we are and what traits are emerged eternally. Aristotle

Diabetes Is A Common Disease That Affects A Large Number...
Introduction Few would argue that diabetes mellitus is not a common disease that affects a large
number of the World s population. Shockingly, the World Health Organization reported that an
estimated 347 million people globally have either type 1 or type 2 diabetes (Bossart et al., 2015). In
the United States alone that number is 29 million (Wilkins, 2017). What most people do not
understand is the distinct connection between diabetes and poor oral health. In fact, periodontal
disease is considered to be a common complication of diabetes, proving that the connection between
the two diseases is strong. Diabetes is one of the most common systemic diseases that has been
studied with in depth detail as it relates to periodontal disease. Gingivitis and periodontitis both fall
under the umbrella of periodontal disease. Gingivitis is inflammation of just the gingival tissue. When
gingivitis is left untreated it leads to periodontitis, which permanently damages the supporting tissue
and bone.
Numerous studies have been conducted throughout the years to scientifically prove the link between
these two common diseases. The research that has been found is overwhelming, revealing how
diabetes can exacerbate periodontal disease. It is important to note that both diabetes and periodontal
disease are considered chronic inflammatory diseases. With such a large number of the population
having some form of diabetes, it will be important for the dental team to understand the connection

Applications of Noise and Vibration Studies
Applications of Noise and Vibration Studies in all domains presented above have slight variation
depending on the structural architecture, working environment, economics and adherence to
regulations imposed by various authorities. In the domain of railway, Automobile and Aircraft
industry, both exterior noise (into the environment) and interior noise play an important role and are
strictly regulated by norms imposed by various government authorities. In the railway industry, in
addition environmental noise, big attention is being paid on studies on transmission and effect of
ground vibrations in many countries. Aircraft industry, on the other hand has its focus of study on
airframe noise which is transmitted to the environment surrounding the airports and are under strict
regulation by regulatory bodies in all countries. For ships, interior noise and noise transmitted
underwater has been the topic for research over past 40 decades. A brief review of applications of
noise and vibrations studies is presented in subsequent paragraphs. In the railway industry, the studies
are mainly focussed on the mechanism of generation and transmission and control measures in respect
of rolling noise at the wheel rail contact and the aerodynamic noise. The dominant noise from
mainline railways is usually the rolling noise generated by the wheel and rail which is caused by
vibrations of the wheel and track structures, induced at the wheel rail contact point by vertical
irregularities in the

A Man s Character is Significant to the Decisions he Makes...
The character a man holds to be significant in his life conducts the decisions he makes. The epic
Beowulf sets a perfect example of this truth. Beowulf demonstrates him as divine, whom obtains a
strength and hero soul incomparable to any individual. The decisions he had built affected his
potential. These decisions took play in the end of the story. Throughout Beowulf s life he engages in
threats that many individuals cannot even accept. He lives by honor and glory and desires power in
anyone thing he accomplishes. The most abundant respect to Beowulf was to sacrifice his life in a
chivalrous attack. He fought with brutality, unconcerned if he lives or dies. Behavior that is admired is
the path to power among people everywhere (line 25). Admiration of Beowulf s victory has reached
throughout all territories, and the public admired him everywhere. These great successful battles he
has been through won him strong attention, and also made him have plenty of pride, which made him
very confident. Good and evil walk besides every human being. They are two aspects of life argued by
many but implied be several. The epic Beowulf illustrates both sides of these manners. The attempts
Beowulf experienced analyzes his honor and his power to act upon darker forces. Many demons and
monsters interfere with Beowulf, which causes the reader to involve into the battle. Through imagery
and symbolism, Beowulf presents a differentiation between good and evil, showing that good will

I 35 W Bridge Failure and Reconstruction
Introduction:
The I 35W Mississippi river bridge also known as Bridge 9340 officially was an eight lane, steel truss
arch bridge which carried the Interstate 35W across the Mississippi river connected the downtown east
and Marcy Holmes. Its construction began in the year 1964, was finally opened in 1967. It connected
the northeast of Metrodome on its south end and the University of Minnesota on the North end. The
bridge was the boundary of Mississippi Mile downtown riverfront parkland. The north foundation of
the bridge was near the hydroelectric plant built in 1988. The south abutment was in an area polluted
by the coal gas processing plant. There weren t any mentions of this in the failure investigations. The
bridge was a continuous truss bridge that had a total span of 1,907 ft. It was an 8 lane bridge having a
width of 113.3ft. and was 115 ft. high. It was designed by Sverdrup Parcel to 1961 AASHO (American
Association Of State Highway Officials) standard specifications. The construction contract worth
more than US $5.2 million at the time, went to Hurcon Inc. and Industrial Construction Company,
which built the steel trusses and deck. The piers were not built in the navigation channel instead the
center span of the bridge consisted of a single 456 foot steel truss over a 390 foot channel being the
longest span of the bridge.

Augustine Confessions Book Review Summary
Tanner Anderson f rel 212 001 10/10/17
Book Review
Augustine, Confessions Book Review At its most basic, an autobiography is the story of a person s
life, written by that person. However St. Augustine s Confessions is not the run of the mill
autobiography, in many circles it is said that Augustine invented the modern autobiography with this
interpretation. Augustine s writing isn t about pleasing an overarching audience like a lot of
autobiographies or books in general try to do. The audience Augustine is speaking to is the single
entity that influenced his entire life more than any other, God (as seen in Christianity). Augustine s
autobiography is unique in several ways. The Confessions is not a straightforward account of the
events of Augustine s life. Augustine frequently leaves out events that readers may consider important.
The death of his father is mentioned only in passing, and large portions of his life are simply glossed
over. On the other hand, Augustine gives special importance to seemingly small events, such as the
theft of pears. In telling the story of his life, Augustine selects only those events that illustrate his
spiritual development, everything else is pushed into the background. The mixture of audience choice
and unique storytelling are what separate The Confessions from any other reading material. Saint
Augustine of Hippo lived between 354 and 430. Augustine is recognized as a saint in the Catholic
Church, the Eastern Christian Church, and the

Essay On Rent Or Buy
Whether to rent or buy is a common micro economic issue among most young Australians. This topic
needs to be greatly scrutinized before a decision is made. This transition in life can either have a
positive or negative financial effect potentially for the rest of your life. North Ward is a small beautiful
sub suburban area on Townsville s beautiful beach front holding only 3 percent of its population with
only approx. 5000 residents residing there. North ward holds most of rental properties and a large
amount of commercial business as the area resides just behind Townsville s popular Strand . North

Many home buyers in this home owning crisis are hoping that the house prices increase just like the
trend line suggests. Another common alternative instead of buying is renting which proposes a not as
challenging alternate.
With housing affordability presenting more of a problem for first home buyers, some are searching for
property alternatives, such as renting. The average weekly income for north ward population is $1276
which can make buying a home very difficult whereas renting can present itself as much more
desirable. Renting is becoming much more familiar this is due to renting being much more static and
the trend is extremely predictable, with a rather straight trend line of the past 10 years. Another key
factor which persuades buyers to rent is the safety of renting. Renting a house doesn t leave you with
mortgage payments and long term commitments. With the declining sales market in Townsville,
selling a house could prove quite difficult and a loss in money could occur with sudden decrease in
price over the past year. With a decrease in house prices comes a drop in rental price which is
immensely positive as there is no waiting period and need to sell any property. Not only does renting
have many potential short term gains, renting is also much cheaper at $350 p/w/. This price is also
most likely to keep decreasing, a slow decline can be

Police Brutality In All American Boys
Without fiction our imaginations will never be achieved, everything will be boring and too real. In
result, children will be forced to grow up faster than they should be. In this book however it may be
real in some situations in life, it is a fake story about a young black male who gets wrongfully accused
of stealing. He is then abused by a police officer who was on duty at the time and ends with injuries
that puts him in the hospital.Without having fiction we would have never thought of how badly police
can act upon and black male. This helps us see more situations on whether or not the police or citizen
was at fault. Fiction needs to be included in the curriculum because we can never imagine situations
that can often happen in real life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many years later, little had changed. A black man named Rodney King was involved in a high speed
chase in Los Angeles. California, on March 3, 1991. Police pulled him from the car and beat him. A
bystander took video footage of the beating. The four police officers involved were indicted, but they
were acquitted in 1992. ( Police Brutality and Race. )The quote from the article police brutality and
race shows a situation that happened in 1991 that is similar to the incident in the book. A lot of times
when incidents like police brutality the police officers often win because they are doing their jobs
when in reality they are often accusing many citizens. Often cases of police brutality the civilian that
is abused is male and black. This is because they are stereotyping thinking they are up to no good
when they can be innocent by standers. Racism and stereotyping in most cases end badly. Police
officers abuse their powers and hurt and or injure people because they assume which often leads to a
bad ending. FBI statistics show that white officers killed black suspects twice a week in the United
States over a seven year period. That s an average of 96 times a year. (police officers abuse their
power).studies show that WHITE police officers are the ones to kill BLACK suspects due to
assumption . Their is a very high statistic that shows how many blacks are killed in a

Logical Relationship Of Budgeting Management
LOGICAL RELATIONSHIP OF BUGDETINGS
Budgeting management plays critical role in organizations, it can help organizations to allocate
resource, force thinking about future and estimate performance base on benchmark. Normally,
management team and financial function provide budget plans at the beginning of a specific period. It
also plays the role of communication and co ordination around different levels of organization.
Although all of kinds of budget are run respectively, it is important to investigate interrelationship
between them.
The master budget relationship is showed below:
Production budget, which determine number of units the company needs to produce to meet sales and
ending inventory, interlinked sales budget and direct material budget, direct labor budget and
manufacture overhead budget.
We will discuss the logical relationship of budgets.
1. Sales budget
The sales budget reflected sales expectation of a company s for the budget period. The unit result of
sales budget is the basement of production budget. To calculate sales budget, companies need variety
sources of information. The most important source is historical data and marketing forecast. The sales
budget result comes from budgeted sales in units by selling price per unit. It is clear that the sales
budget of new product will have less accurateness then the grown up product, as there is not much
data can be used. The more historical data to be concerned, the accurateness of result will be higher.

Carlow University Case Study
Without a doubt, attending college could be one of the most beneficial choices made as a young adult.
In my opinion, the most satisfaction that follows a college degree is the feeling of self success. A
college degree will also help you find a job that is more satisfying and enjoyable. The manageability
obtained and practiced during college will also help you achieve other goals.
I chose Carlow University because of the size, austerity, and most importantly, the degrees and courses
offered. Carlow University has a 1:11 teacher to student ratio, as it only has an estimated 2,000
students enrolled per semester. I believe that smaller classes will allow for more attention to the
students, as well as a personal bond with the teacher and peers.

Dbq Essay On Sweatshops
Sweatshops are factories that are used around the world that major brand companies use to make
products. These factories have gained media attention and controversy for the long hours and low pay
given to the workers. Many people say to boycott these factories because of the latter reasons, but
consumers shouldn t boycott companies that make sweatshop products. The first reason consumers
shouldn t boycott these products would be people actually deliberately take these jobs because in
developing countries most jobs don t pay that much. The second reason consumers shouldn t boycott
sweatshop products would be that it allows a lot of people in the developing worlds to rise out of
poverty. To summarize, consumers do not have the ethical responsibility to boycott products made in
sweatshops. As stated in the previous paragraph, people actually take these jobs willingly because in

point of their argument is that conditions in these factories are abusive and horrible. However, again
many people take these jobs willingly meaning that they really don t care about these conditions
because they need money. Finally they believe that boycotting sweatshops will do something good for

Character Analysis of Elisa Allen in The Chrysanthemums...
Many readers who analyze Steinbeck s short story, The Chrysanthemums , feel Elisa s flowers
represent her repressed sexuality, and her anger and resentment towards men. Some even push the
symbolism of the flowers, and Elisa s masculine actions, to suggest she is unable to establish a true
relationship between herself and another. Her masculine traits and her chrysanthemums are enough to
fulfill her entirely. This essay will discuss an opposing viewpoint. Instead, it will argue that Elisa s
chrysanthemums, and her masculine qualities are natural manifestations of a male dominated world.
Pertinent examples from The Chrysanthemums will be given in an attempt to illustrate that Elisa s

If he gave her any personal praise, as a woman of distinct qualities (one who was vital to the farm s
survival), he might be empowering her. Thus, he keeps his praise for her superficial skills, growing

Elisa trying to find some way of escaping from her frustrated and repressed husband, not from her
own sexual frustration.
Since Elisa is a woman with more than superficial qualities, in addition to being a good worker, she
seeks a way to fit into this world she feels is limited to her. She feels that it is limited because it is
being dominated and interpreted by men. Thus, she tries to seek out some understanding from a
stranger who is looking to find fix it work. Many readers see Elisa as being cold and frigid towards the
stranger at first appearance. Yet, this is quite possibly her intelligent reaction from being experienced
with the realities of life. This scene portrays a combat of wits in which she shows herself a person of
right feeling, one who doesn t let her charitable instincts run away with her (Beach, 312). Here we
have a strange man, and men have proven to Elisa they have a limited understanding of a woman s
gentler qualities. Her reaction shows intelligence, good instincts, and is revealing of the period in

1910 Revolution Essay
The 1910 Revolution in Mexico was the first of Latin America s great 20th century revolutions. The
revolution prompted a political system that gave way to an unmatched stability in Mexico for more
than half a century. The political, social, and cultural effects of the revolution triggered the formation
of the PRI, the agrarian reform, a new relationship with the United States, and in turn the
consolidation of national identity through cultural policies. In looking at these effects of the 1910

  • 2. Life In A Tide Pool Research Paper Ocean water is always moving, and gravity from the sun and the moon pulling on the waters of the ocean causes what s called tides. Each day there are two high tides, when the water moves higher onto the beach, and two low tides, when the water moves further away from the beach back out toward the main body of water. A tidepool is a pool of water left behind by the ocean tides. Oysters, seabirds, blue crabs, and cordgrass can all live in a tidepool. Let s explore the tidepool habitat. When high tides come up onto the beach, the water brings animals and plants with it. Tide pools are formed when low tide takes the water back out toward the sea, and some water gets trapped and left behind. Things like rocks and low spots, like shallow holes, can keep the water from leaving the beach area. Plants and animals can make a tidepool their home, or habitat. A habitat is the environment in which plants and animals live. Plants and animals in a tidepool habitat live in an aquatic habitat, or water environment. Life in a tide pool is not easy. Although high tide brings into the tide pool more fresh seawater, animals, and plants, the waves are very powerful. Also, once low tide happens again, the tide pool begins ... Their colors help them hide from predators, and they have bony, hard skin to also help protect them. • 3. Themes Of Catch 22 Catch 22 s Recurrent Themes as Real World Issues Heller provides a satirical depiction of military bureaucracy and authoritarianism through the many antics of a B 25 bombardier, Yossarian. When Catch 22 was first released, its reviews were polarizing. Some critics praised its raunchy humor and depiction of war, in all of its gruesome detail. Others loathed its seemingly nonsensical plot structure and repetitiveness. Heller, born in 1923, was part of the G.I. Generation and served during World War II in the Army Air Corps as a bombardier. He flew sixty missions, but one drastically affected Heller. In a flight to Avignon, after dropping his bombs, his pilot went into a large climb but nearly stalled the plane s engines. In order to stop ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He would plead insanity, but he cannot due to the Catch 22 principle that requires him to file a report of insanity; however, this would prove he is actually sane because he fears for his own life. Yossarian witnesses the death or disappearance of most of his close friends before the end of the book, leaving him with nothing to lose. In a final act of defiance, Yossarian proclaims that he is not flying any more missions. The officers take him into custody and give him an offer: go home to the United States and spread the good word about the war effort, or be court martialed. He takes the first offer, but then goes AWOL in a B 25 on a route to Switzerland (Heller). The Catch 22 principle and Yossarian s defiant acts create a picture of the effects of authoritarianism, greed, as well as military bureaucracy as seen through the eyes of Heller during the 1950s and 1960s. The Catch 22 principle functions as a literary device repeatedly throughout the book as a representation of authority s theft of personal freedom. The principle is repeatedly used as a justification for obscene acts and statements in the book. For example, at one point Military Police officers raid a brothel frequented by the soldiers and officers. They ransack the building and destroy everything that is breakable. When Yossarian arrives to the brothel, an old woman is worried sick about all of the prostitutes and says Catch 22 says they have a right to do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. 4 Functions of Management The management process contains four basic functions; planning, organizing, leading and controlling. By using these key tools, one can create an organization as a whole consisting of unified parts acting in harmony to achieve goals, both successfully and proficiently. It is vital for an organization manager to implement these functions to ensure the success of the company. The functions of management are described, according to (Bateman, Snell, 2004) as follows: Planning is specifying the goals to be achieved and deciding in advance the appropriate actions needed to achieve those goals. Planning activities include analyzing current situations, anticipating the future, determining objectives, deciding in what types of activities the company ... Our manager has to also organize the rollout. How are we going to get to the new location and what is the time frame which this needs to be completed. Leading is going to also be an important factor with this project. Our manager needs to motivate us to actually wanting to work very late on Friday and all day Saturday. Our manager needs to be able to communicate with us and let us know what we have to do at that very moment. The leader needs to keep us on the right track and focus on the goal at hand. This entails him to be present during the rollout. I believe we will be motivated if he is present during the rollout, giving a helpful hand where ever he can. Even if it isn t much, anything is better than nothing at all. The final function is controlling. Management will have to monitor our progress during the rollout and decide what actions need to be taken to improve. In past projects similar to this one, we ran into a few problems and management had to reconfigure its game plan to make everything work out fine in the end. • 6. The Effects Of Excessive Amounts Of Preservatives On The Food There are numerous problems going on in America currently; some have more attention than others. The declining health due to a poor diet in America is one problem that is recently receiving more attention, as it should. However, a major factor is being overlooked. Excessive amounts of additives placed in food is a problem. These additives are causing numerous health problems that are literally killing us. I am bringing up the idea that we need to demand the government and FDA to better monitor what goes into our food. Consumers also need to demand a change. This means choosing not to buy preserved food, cutting back on the unnatural foods, and supporting farmer s markets. In this paper, I will argue that the excessive amounts of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just like it is easy and quick to buy and consume preserved foods, it easier to make them this way. By adding preservatives, producers are able to lengthen the amount of time that they are still considered safe to eat. They are also used to add coloring, flavoring, and vitamins or minerals that the food would otherwise be lacking. There are two types of additives, natural and unnatural. Natural additives are items such as salt, sugar, and vinegar. Unnatural additives are monosodium glutamate (a food enhancer), benzoic acid (a preservative used in fruit juices), and food stabilizers such as gums and waxes (H.S. Jeon). In addition to these, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is allowing about 3,000 more additives such as these in our food. Excessive amounts of additives in our food is a problem that is not receiving enough attention from the government. Companies also seem unconcerned with the problem because they are able to make large amounts of money by selling items in larger packs. The shelf life of food is extended due to the preservatives, which means it is cheaper for the consumer as well. Rather than having to buy food continuously because it spoils, families are now able to buy food that will last for long amounts of time, which means they will have to buy less. Some argue that preservatives in our food is not as big of a problem as we are making it to be. To provide some information on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Canon Scripture And Canon Of Scripture Canon of Scripture When we talk about Scripture, we have to discuss the source of our revelation. In fact, without an understanding and personal standpoint/beliefs on the canon of Scripture, one is not able to build a solid foundation in other matters regarding Scripture, including the authority of Scripture, the inerrancy, the clarity, the necessity, and the sufficiency. Often the canon of Scripture is a prevalent topic in the Christian faith among believers as there is a debate which books of the Holy Bible are considered to be part of the canon. However, although there are other books that have been added (including the Deutro Chronical Books in the Roman Catholic church), there are in fact only 66 books in the canon of Scripture. There are 39 Old Testament books and 27 New Testament books that are included in the canon of Scripture. While some churches (including the Roman Catholic Church) believe that the church should determine what books are in the New Testament canon, God is responsible for the canon of Scripture. The Old Testament canon includes the Pentateuch Books (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy), the Historical Books (Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, and Ester), the Poetical Books (Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon), and the Prophetical Books ( Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, ... We didn t have a lot of family vacations but I can remember a fishing trip my dad took my brother and I on. It was only two hours away but it was interesting. Unfortunately it was cut short due to my mom needing emergency back surgery. It was not until my senior year of high school, that our family went to Darien Lake for an entire week. We had a great time riding rides and making memories that we still talk about today. Once my brother and I started having families and children of our own, we both understood more the value of spending that one on one time with our kids. • 9. Alfred Hitchcock Lifeboat Women In the mid twentieth century, America was always seen as a role model to other countries due to their great economy and social contract. However, during the Second World War Americans weren t completely aware of the actual incompleteness of the social contract. In Alfred Hitchcock s Lifeboat, this imperfectness of the contract became aware as the characters explored many tensions regarding gender, race, and morals. These interactions foreshadow upcoming changes in America such as the New Woman and African American s fight for rights, and it also hints at the decision of type of government America should have in the future. World War II was a major turning point for women during the war (McEuen, Women, Gender, and World War II ). Beforehand, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Still, millions of African American men and women registered for the draft ( African Americans in WWII ). During the war, however, it was still very segregated and they were only used as extra people to help fight against Germany (Cochran Lecture 3/16/17). In the movie, a middle aged black man, called Joe, arrives on the lifeboat not too long after the first couple people. Joe s character is a great reflection of blacks in society, in that he is always filmed sitting away from everyone and is treated like a servant. He represents the segregation that is happening with African Americans during the war. For example, when asked if he wanted to vote on what happens to the prisoner of war Joe replies, Do I get to vote too? I guess I d rather stay out of this, hinting at the reality that he wouldn t be able to vote if it wasn t for the certain circumstances. Joe s character within the group shows the audience that even when coming together to achieve the same goals, he is still treated like a servant or entertainer, which challenges the current social contract. Likewise, African Americans fighting in the war are going through the same situation. Even when they are denied protections and rights at home, they fight alongside whites for the same goal: democracy (Cochran Lecture 3/16/17). The movie does a good job at showing the audience the imperfectness of the social contract this way, and with the Double V ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Maslow s Hierarchy Of Needs Theory The motivation of a human being is an interesting subject. There many reasons for a person to do the same action. There are also many theories of the motivation of a human being. For this paper, the authors will look at the motivation of Theodore Roosevelt to fulfill Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs. We will look how President Roosevelt was motivated to act throughout his life through each stage of the Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs. Maslow s Theory The Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs theory is a theory that attempts to summarize motivation. Maslow s theory is a biopsychosocial theory of motivation. A biopsychosocial theory means that it accounts for the biological needs and the psychosocial needs of a person. (Carpenter Huffman, 2013) Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs Theory was first developed by Abraham Maslow in a 1943 paper. (Maslow, 1943) Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs Theory works simply. It says that a person will meet baser or more primitive needs first before fulfilling more advanced or sophisticated needs. To the lay person, thus seems to be true. The hierarchy of needs are in the following order from simple to complicated: Physiological Needs Hunger, thirst, and maintenance of internal state of the body; Safety Needs to feel secure and safe, to seek pleasure and avoid pain; Belonging and Love Needs to affiliate with others, be accepted, and give and receive affection; Esteem Needs to achieve, be competent, gain approval, and excel; and Self Actualization Needs ... These views of the social structure of industrial society came about through the development of ideals taken from past revolutions such as the Industrial Revolution which steamed ahead paving the way for growing commerce, and widened the gap between the classes. Weber was elected to the Soviet where he met Kurt Eisner, its leader. Eisner was a creative and innovative man who seemed to know what to do when no one else did. Weber considered him an archetype of the charismatic leader and wrote his theories under his silhouette. Weber s primary works include The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism. Weber can be said to agree with Marx concerning the alienation of the individual in Industrial Society. For Weber this centers around the rationalization of the West due to the spread of bureaucracy. Weber s belief was that Industrial Societies inevitable trend was to more and more rationalization. Thus he was certain bureaucracies were the most efficient and most rational known means of exercising authority over human beings. Offices are ranked in a hierarchical order and their operations are characterized by impersonal rules also appointments are made according to specialized qualifications. Therefore bureaucracies were thought to be reliable, precise and stable. In this paper it will address hindrance that Donovan faced, his views of Christology and soteriology in relation to the Christian faith perspective, and my own views on how well I believe that Donovan portrayed Christianity. One of the biggest hindrances for Donovan while dealing with the Masia was the culture difference in how situations were handled. As stated by Donovan (1995) with these Africans the purpose of words is not to establish logical truth, but to set up social relationships with others. As Donovan (1995) states A community...will act as a unit, accepting you or rejecting you together... it is not possible or desirable to convert the Masai as individuals, but it is possible to evangelize them as groups. A second hindrance for Donovan was getting the Masia people to listen to his preaching of Christianity without receiving anything for it. The Masia people were very accustomed to missionaries bringing things in order to bribe the people to accept Christianity. He was aware of this set back from the beginning and how this shadows the true story of Jesus and what Christianity is about at the core. Donovan made it clear at this first meeting with the people of his true intentions while preaching. Along the same lines of not listening to Donovan, making sure that the Masai had a mind free of preconceptions... there is no other way to deal with the subject that is so strange to us. (Donovan, 1995). This was hard to do because of the past history of the Catholic church coming to the Masai people. Donovan had to fight the expectations they held of his visit and reset their minds to take in the knowledge and information that Donovan wanted to teach. • 15. The Role Of A School Counselor The role of a school counselor has taken on numerous descriptions in the last decade. Although the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and Texas Education Code (TEC) provide the basic roles and responsibilities of school counselors, every school district and even campus has modified that description to fit the needs of the campus. Every administrator, teacher, student, and counselor may provide a different explanation of the role that counselors play in education. Regardless of the role description or explanations provided by counselors themselves, the primary focus of a school counselor is to fully develop each student s academic, career, personal, and social abilities (Tex. Educ. Code § 33.006). The role of a school counselor can be both rewarding and challenging. One of the most challenging aspects of being a school counselor is managing multiple duties (K. Hancock, personal communication, August 19, 2014). K. Hancock is also the district testing coordinator, which according to the ASCA, is noted as being an inappropriate counseling duty. The role of a school counselor, in regards to testing, is to interpret the results of these tests and to analyze them in conjunction with multiple measures of student achievement (ASCA, 2005). During testing season, K. Hancock has to utilize her time planning and preparing for state assessments rather than focusing on primary counseling roles. Shockingly, the World Health Organization reported that an estimated 347 million people globally have either type 1 or type 2 diabetes (Bossart et al., 2015). In the United States alone that number is 29 million (Wilkins, 2017). What most people do not understand is the distinct connection between diabetes and poor oral health. In fact, periodontal disease is considered to be a common complication of diabetes, proving that the connection between the two diseases is strong. Diabetes is one of the most common systemic diseases that has been studied with in depth detail as it relates to periodontal disease. Gingivitis and periodontitis both fall under the umbrella of periodontal disease. Gingivitis is inflammation of just the gingival tissue. When gingivitis is left untreated it leads to periodontitis, which permanently damages the supporting tissue and bone. Numerous studies have been conducted throughout the years to scientifically prove the link between these two common diseases. The research that has been found is overwhelming, revealing how diabetes can exacerbate periodontal disease. The decisions he had built affected his potential. These decisions took play in the end of the story. Throughout Beowulf s life he engages in threats that many individuals cannot even accept. Augustine Confessions Book Review Summary Tanner Anderson f rel 212 001 10/10/17 Book Review Augustine, Confessions Book Review At its most basic, an autobiography is the story of a person s life, written by that person. However St. Augustine s Confessions is not the run of the mill autobiography, in many circles it is said that Augustine invented the modern autobiography with this interpretation. Augustine s writing isn t about pleasing an overarching audience like a lot of autobiographies or books in general try to do. The audience Augustine is speaking to is the single entity that influenced his entire life more than any other, God (as seen in Christianity). Augustine s autobiography is unique in several ways. The Confessions is not a straightforward account of the events of Augustine s life. Augustine frequently leaves out events that readers may consider important. The death of his father is mentioned only in passing, and large portions of his life are simply glossed over. On the other hand, Augustine gives special importance to seemingly small events, such as the theft of pears. In telling the story of his life, Augustine selects only those events that illustrate his spiritual development, everything else is pushed into the background. The mixture of audience choice and unique storytelling are what separate The Confessions from any other reading material. Saint Augustine of Hippo lived between 354 and 430. Augustine is recognized as a saint in the Catholic Church, the Eastern Christian Church, and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the declining sales market in Townsville, selling a house could prove quite difficult and a loss in money could occur with sudden decrease in price over the past year. The flowers represent Elisa trying to find some way of escaping from her frustrated and repressed husband, not from her own sexual frustration. Since Elisa is a woman with more than superficial qualities, in addition to being a good worker, she seeks a way to fit into this world she feels is limited to her. She feels that it is limited because it is being dominated and interpreted by men. Thus, she tries to seek out some understanding from a stranger who is looking to find fix it work.
