Many people understand the awful living conditions in animal shelters. Upon
entering, one immediately notices the stench of unwashed animals, the dirt and grime
that coat the walls, and the pleading, desperate faces of the inhabitants. While this is
a serious issue, there is a far more important one at hand: the euthanization, or killing,
of healthy animals in shelters. In a population chart of dogs in the United States, over
a third (2.4 million) died in shelters (Ortega Pacheco JimГ©nez Coello 235). The high
number of dogs killed in shelters emphasizes the need to prevent shelter animal
euthanasia. In order to save the lives of healthy shelter animals, methods such as
initiating adoption programs, desexing companion animals, increasing volunteer and
staff effectiveness, and raising community awareness must be enforced.
Specialized adoption programs help decrease the number of animals in shelters, thus
reducing the number euthanized. At a shelter in Louisiana, the employees began an
adoption program designed to increase dog adoptions. The dogs chosen for the
program were given to foster homes, which were tasked with marketing and finding
permanent homes for the dogs. The program decreased the number of dogs staying in

One of the biggest goals I have in life to win a state championship in my favorite
sport. That sport is wrestling. I have wrestled since I was young in the third grade.
I was considered very overweight for my age. I sat at about ninety pounds as a 9 year

remember being in a buffalo wild wings and watching a wrestlingmatch on the

systematically assimilated into an English Christian society through abuse,
segregation, and racism. Residential schools were created by the Canadian
government to transition First Nations children into a newly colonized Canada, but
somewhere something went wrong and the policy of teaching was corrupted into
assimilation through abuse. The priority of residential schools was to kill the Indian

my characters, plotline, and setting. However, intermittently I reminisce on former
events in my novel. I have come to comprehend the fact that not everything that I
have recorded in my novel is completely professional and well developed. As I
construe my novel, I realize that I may not deserve the grade that I had originally

For this concert report, I am going to be focusing on the last piece of the concert,
Beethoven s Symphony no. 5 in C Minor, op. 67. This piece was written in the
classical period. I am choosing this piece to focus on because when I heard it, I felt
that I was being told a story of a war and specifically of a single soldier and his
experience. Beethoven s Symphony no. 5 in C Minor, op. 67 has 4 movements
throughout the piece. The first movement is Allegro con brio, the second Andante
con moto, and the third and fourth are both Allegro. The first movement, Allegro con
Brio, starts the story off in a battle focusing on a single soldier and his fight. The
tempowas quite fast throughout the movement making the idea of a battle taking
place set in. The program has already stated that the piece was in C Minor, but you
can tell that it is by the sense of conflict and pain that is heard throughout the piece.
This first movement has a great variation of dynamics as well. There are long
sections of fortissimo that, to me, sound like the intense fighting, and then there are
sections of piano and mezzo piano that, to me, sound like lulls in the scene where the
soldier notices something very sad right before he is whisked back into the fight. This
sense of a fight scene is also noted with the technical styling of the movement. During
the intense fights the melody is staccato and accented, and during the points that the
soldier can take a breath and look around at the horror unfolding
