caught my eye while I was looking along the shelves of my local library. The Blade
Artist is a crime and thriller novel that keeps you guessing until the end. Frank
Begbie s first son, Sean Begbie is found dead in his hometown Leith and he makes
it his mission to find the killer. He also encounters some old friends and enemies

first gained our independence from Britain. Life was very different before then,
we were under British control. I was not very aware of what was happening at the
time, but each night I would hear my mother and father talking. They would talk

hatred. In Shakespeare s, The Merchant of Venice, Shylockis a devout jew who lives
in Italy during a time of jewish persecution. Shylock is a successful money lender
who is constantly harassed by the citizens of Venice because of his faith. Over the
years of constant abuse the hatred and abuse causes shylock to develop a hatred
for his christian tormentors and after a series of events a desire for retribution for
their misdeeds. In the beginning of the play Shylock is a money lender, a
profession that is highly frowned upon in the Christian faith, even though he is very
successful in his craft he s hated by society because of his faith and profession. Due
