The Teacher Essay
Crafting an essay on the topic of "The Teacher" is a task that presents both challenges and
rewards. The difficulty arises not from a lack of information or personal experience with
teachers, but rather from the vastness and depth of the subject matter. The role of a teacher is
multifaceted, encompassing aspects of education, mentorship, and personal development.
Attempting to encapsulate all these dimensions within the confines of an essay demands careful
consideration of the scope and focus.
One of the primary challenges is to strike a balance between generalizations and specific
examples. The essay should not merely recite common notions about teachers but delve into
unique anecdotes or characteristics that make the teacher-student relationship special. Finding
this balance requires a nuanced understanding of the subject and a keen ability to relate personal
experiences to broader themes.
Moreover, the essay should avoid becoming a mere list of qualities or duties of a teacher.
Instead, it should strive to convey a deeper understanding of the impact teachers have on
individuals and society as a whole. This involves navigating through the complexities of
pedagogy, the psychology of learning, and the social dynamics within a classroom.
Another challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s and platitudes. Expressing appreciation for teachers
is common, but the essay must find a fresh and authentic way to convey this sentiment. It
requires a thoughtful exploration of the emotional and intellectual connections formed in the
educational journey, steering clear of overused phrases that may diminish the essay's originality.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "The Teacher" demands a delicate dance between the personal
and the universal, the specific and the general. It requires a writer to navigate through the rich
tapestry of educational experiences and distill them into a coherent and compelling narrative.
While challenging, the process offers an opportunity for self-reflection and a deeper appreciation
of the profound impact teachers have on shaping minds and futures.

Cause And Effects Of Deforestation
A tree is beautiful, but what s more, it has a right to life; like water, the sun and the
stars, it is essential. Life on earth is inconceivable without trees. Forests create
climate, climate influences peoples character, and so on and so forth. There can be
neither civilization nor happiness if forests crash down under the axe, if the climate
is harsh and severe, if people are also harsh and severe. ... What a terrible future!
Anton Pavlovich Chekhov
The forest is a place filled with many wonders. Unfortunately, because of the effects
deforestation it s quickly being consumed away, due to the need of agriculture,
livestock, and also the need to create housing, according to the. According to Alina

NASA predicts that if current deforestation levels proceed, the world s rainforests
may be completely in as little as 100 years .
Deforestation is leading to many problematic issues in our environment like
damaging water cycles, corrupting the soil and destroying wildlife.
First, the effects of deforestation will have trouble effects on the planet water cycles
because the trees help gather in maintain moisture. Trees Play a gigantic roll to the
water cycle. They absorb rain fall and produce water vapor that is released into the
atmosphere.

How The Mp3 Murdered The Music Industry

How the Mp3 Murdered the Music Industry It is easily rational to assume that music
is something every human experiences in some way everyday, and is it reasonable to
assume that the majority of people in global north countries possess at least 1 mp3
file. It may be, however, inaccurate to assume one purchased that mp3 file. Since it
s invention, the mp3 has opened new markets of digital music play, overshadowing
the past markets of physical record sale. New copyright laws were developed to
evade the ease and massive scale of common, everyday piracy that grew out of the
wide range use of mp3. Meanwhile, full markets grew out of this concept of free
digital music, causing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike piracy, streaming is a highly profitable market that strives to deter piracy.
Spotify states on its site that it recognized the mass consumption of pirated music,
and the small or nonexistent income it provides for artists, stating its mission to
provide a legal and paid service to provide music and produce the revenue the
artists deserve ( Spotify Explained ). Apple Music hosts similar business strategy,
however focuses more on the mission of providing over 30 million songs on a 24/7
radio station in its mission statement ( Apple Music ). Therefore, it is absolutely true
that piracy has but a small, mostly harmless effect on the music industry, as with
streaming, which actually is a highly profitable market in the music industry. The
birth of the mp3 began with the research of Eberhard Zwicker in psychoacoustics. In
researching items like sound pressure and integrity, he turned the concepts into
mathematical logarithms like L=20Log(p/pв‚Ђ)dB (Zwicker). Over this time,
Zwicker found that the human ear was an adaptive organ which, by natural selection,
served two purposes: to hear and interpret language and provide an early warning
system against enormous carnivorous cats, and it was no better than it had to be to
serve those two purposes (Witt). Around the same time as this research, the compact
disc (CD) hit the market in 1982, claiming perfect sound forever , being celebrated as
one of the most important engineering achievements in
Electrochemical Cells Using The Nernst Equation
INTRODUCTION The premise and focus of experiment 9 Electrochemistry was to
demonstrate the potential, in volts, that can be generated by electrochemical cells
and how to calculate the theoretical potential of those electrochemical cells using the
Nernst equation. Of the electrochemical cells used, there were two different types,
voltaic and concentration. Voltaic cells are composed of two half cells with
differing electrodes and solutions that result in a spontaneous flow of electrons from
one half cell to the other half cell until equilibrium is met. In Voltaic cells, this flow
of electrons is driven by redoxreactions and the reduction potential of the half cells.
Concentration cells are composed of half cells with identical... Show more content on

This oxidation increases the oxidation state of the atom while the reduction of an
atom causing the oxidation state to decrease. Whenever an atom is oxidized, there
is a corresponding oxidizing agent that oxidized the atom, likewise there is a
corresponding reducing agent whenever an atom is reduced. During redox
reactions, the oxidized atom tends to be the reducing agent and the reduced atom
tends to be the oxidizing agent. When balancing a redox reaction, it is separated
into two half reactions, the oxidation process and the reduction process. These two
half reactions are then balanced based on the number of electrons being
transferred and then combine to find the overall equation for the reaction.
Electrochemical cells are devices that can generate electrical energy through the
transfer of electrons.3 They are composed of two half cells that are separated
except by a circuit and a salt bridge. Each of the half cells consist of a solution of
ions, called an electrolyte, with an electrode, which is typical a metal or a compound
that is conductive, submerged in the electrolyte. Of the two electrodes in an
electrochemical cell, one is considered an anode and the other is considered the
cathode. This is determined by where oxidation and reduction is occurring in the cell.

My Beautiful Day
Just one more hour... just one more, I remember saying to myself as I watched the
clock tick by tick, tick, tick. I was so anxious I could barely sit still. I was 7 years
old when I found out I was getting a new family.I didn t know what I was excited
about more, was it that it was the last day of school or the day I was finally gonna
get adopted, I was mostly excited about getting adopted. Getting home putting on
the perfect white dress I have ever worn in my life, It was huge on me but I looked
beautiful. The bell rang and I hurried up, grabbed my stuff and got on the bus. It
was the most beautiful day ever There was no clouds in the sky and it was hot.
When I got home my mom said are you ready Yes I can t wait I said. I go and put
on the dress, it went all the way past my ankles. As a kid would say, it is cute. I
walked into the kitchen where my mom had to put safety pins in it because it was
so big It felt like I was gonna take a trip down the stairs. After a while I was so
excited I couldn t stand it, it got to a point where I started annoying my mom
asking her if it was time yet. When she was ready I ran to the suburban. I sat all the
way in the back because I loved the back it was my favorite spot. On our way there
I sat in my car seat waiting to get to the court house it took us about two minutes to
get there but it felt like hours. I got out of the suburban and waited for everyone to

Designing An Interactive Model For Finding The Optimal...
Abstract
The motivation behind this paper is to propose a new approach called objective
factorizable approach based on a decomposition algorithm in an interactive model
for finding the optimal solution to multi level large scale quadratic programming
problem (MLLSQPP), in which the objective function can be factorized into two
single linear objective functions and has block angular structure of the constraints.
What s more, the author advances the concepts of satisfactoriness as the upper level
decision makers preferences until the preferred solution is come to. The bi section
method is suggested as an essential solution method to assess these upper level
decision makers preferences precisely. Finally, in order to exhibit the proficiency of
the proposed model, an illustrative example is provided.

programming; bisection method.
1.Introduction
Multi Level Programming (MLP) problems are an arrangement of overlapped
hierarchical optimization problems with numerous decision makers (DMs) over a
solitary feasible region. MLP techniques relegate each DM a unique objective, a set
of decision variables, and a set of common constraints that influence all DMs. DMs
make decision in turn or meanwhile to optimize their objective functions. [1, 2, 3, 4]
The vast majority of the optimization problems emerging in real world applications
incorporate vast numbers of variables and constraints, which
Pros And Cons Of The Transcontinental Railroad
The building of the Transcontinental Railroad changed everything. It was started in
1860 and finished on May 10, 1869. The Transcontinental Railroad was a railroad that
linked the eastern and western United States. There were many benefits that came
with the Transcontinental Railroad, but where there are pros, there are also cons. The
Transcontinental Railroad affected everyone from the Indians, to the Chinese, to the
environment. The Transcontinental Railroad affected the Indians mostly, in my
opinion. Americans needed the Indians land to build the railroad. That way the
railroad would cut straight through everything and be faster instead of being longer
than necessary and taking more time to build. The Indians were forced off
Descriptive Essay About Speedball

One of the most exciting things that I have done in my life is the sport of
paintballing in which I played professionally in my home country of Kuwait.
Paintballing is like a game of tag in which two teams of six people face each other
in an arena with inflatable cover. The objective of the game is to tag out as many
people as you can with your paintball gun that has paintballs that explode on impact.
In paintballing there is woodstyle, speedball and scenario which varies in whatever
arena or location that you are playing in. To me this is the closest that anyone can
get to a combat scenario and the feeling that I get from playing the sport gets my
heart racing every time making me very excited and happy when I go out with my
team to play. When playing woodsballstyle we are placed in a location with many
trees that gives us a in the woods feeling. In woodsball you have to be very smart
how you move your team and who has who because some people use camouflage
clothing that makes it hard to see and you can get shot very easily without even
knowing. In woodsball I like to use a longrange weapon so that I can shoot people
from farther away without the risk of pushing up and getting shot and eliminated
from the game. I remember one time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In speedball you are placed in a 50 yard turf field with inflatable cover that varies
from tall ones and short ones depending on what style you like to play. Speedball
goes by very fast because the field is shorter and everyone is placed closer to each
other. This is where teamwork comes in as some guys put pressure in the middle
and other guys try to go around while the guys in the middle are distracting the
opponent. One of my best memories is winning a championship of speedball with
my team in Dubai. We went up against the #1 team at the time and getting that win
felt great. Til this day I can say that speedball is my favorite style of
Peter Drucker 1
Peter F. Drucker developed the Management by Objectives Theory . This theory
presents an objective that needs to be accomplished. A manager will receive an
objective and break it down into achievable goals. The Manager will then delegate
employees on what tasks should be done. Once all tasks are complete the project
will fit together like pieces of a puzzle. This style of managementis good for the
employee in the fact that they are told what to do, but get to be creative and
accomplish the task in their own manner.

The Management by Objective s is very versatile and can be used for many
different purposes. It can be used when you want employees to develop self
leadership and management skills. This will also help employees be creative; and
be able to draw back into past experience and pick up on patterns and apply them to
present tasks (Kotelnikov, 2001, В¶ 5).
Setting Objectives In Management by Objectives theory the hardest part can be the
first step of the process, setting the objectives. When starting this management style
there are two questions that you can ask to get yourself started. These questions
are; what are the objectives and what are the time frames in which goals should be
met (Kotelnikov, 2001, p. 2)? When setting up the objectives for you first time the
S.M.A.R.T. method is a good resource to use. This method acts as a guideline to set
up objectives and to keep you on the right track. The S.M.A.R.T. method stands for:
Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time based (Bogue, 2009, В¶ 12).
When setting up objectives there are many variables that come into effect. First off
objectives should be specific; this is done by describing what you are trying to
achieve. For example, stating that productivity needs to increase is very broad; and
should be stated more along the lines of increase productivity by ten percent . This
way the objective

I am most proud of helping the Cratchit family. In particularly Tiny Tim, that

and tuberculosis. Rickets is a bone disorder caused by a deficiency in vitamin D,
calcium or phosphate. Lack of these crucial nutrients softens the bones, and leg braces
had been the solution. Not only that, but vitamin D deficiency can contribute to
tuberculosis by weakening the immune system, allowing the bacterial infection that
causes the disease to run rampant. Tuberculosis, once known as the white plague,

grew geometrically, mass want would be inevitable. He has also written an Essay

Forks Over Knives Analysis
The film Forks Over Knives begins with some pretty alarming statistics regarding
obesity, and clips of some inherently unhealthy food choices and very large
waistlines. One of the patients featured in the movie goes to two doctors that assess
his health, which is sub par, as his cholesterol is much higher than it should be. His
treatment was to adopt a Whole Foods/Plant Based diet.
The film illustrates a huge increase in calories from meat, dairy, and refined sugars
in the American diet from the early 1900 s over double in each category. A survey
among people on the streets states that people include meat in their diet because of
protein. The film then focuses on cholesterol, its impacts on the arteries, and how
much money is spent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is how the modern American diet, regardless of age, is portrayed in the entire
film. This diet will, of course, promote weight gain through excessive calories. This
diet will promote diabetes through insulin resistance, and the high cholesterol from
a large amount of animal fat will promote heart disease. The goal of the movie is to
support a vegan, whole foods diet. My problem with the film is that it only discusses
diet in terms of extremes. The patients represented in the film all had terrible habits
and practiced no moderation in terms of food intake, eating high amounts of salt,
meat, dairy, and few fresh foods. When switching to a completely plant based diet
without processed foods, many health problems were reversed and could be
managed through diet alone. The film does not discuss several issues that can
accompany a diet in which no animal foods are consumed: active B12 deficiency,
iron intake, vitamin D consumption and synthesis, and sources of essential fatty
acids EPA and DHA. The recommended diet by the American Dietetics Association
includes modest amounts of meat, dairy and animal fats, and every single patient in
the film exceeded intakes of those foods. What isn t covered in the film is the health
of individuals that consume a diet that adheres to recommendations, and I feel that
this film fails to address the effects of animal
Sun Affects The Heat Of The Sun
To start on how the sun produces heat, the sun consists mostly of hydrogen,
especially at its core. The core is only one fourth of its size but this is where all of
the reactions happen and where all the heat of the sun is actually produced. In the
core of a star, it is so pressurized and so hot that nuclear fusion occurs every
9.2Г—1037 times a second. The hydrogen molecules are forced together to make
helium molecules. When this reaction occurs, it releases 0.7% of the mass in the
form of energy. The conversion rate of mass into energy is 4.26 million metric tons a
second. This type of reaction is what occurred in a hydrogen bomb. So just like the
bomb, that explosion is what happens in the sunbut not exactly. Because the sun is so
dense with hydrogen and helium, the explosion is contained. The outer mantle of the
sun, which makes up three fourths of the sun and consists of all of the energy that is
created by the core, contains this explosion. Plus the inward gravitation pull on itself
also keeps the explosions contained.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the fusion reactions in the core start becoming too few, the start can collapse
change the composition of the sun and reactions that happen inside of the sun. If the
inner reactions pressure becomes more than the outside pressure then the start will
explode. The star will become white and become a nova. This balance helps regulate
the star, like if the fusion reactions started to decrease then the star would shrink,
increase heat and pressure, and increase the fusion reactions. Unlike all these
variables of a star, our star is perfectly balanced, at this moment
A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings Analysis
Throughout life, many become familiar with good versus evil. Whether the idea is
familiar because of social media, fairy tales, or everyday life, almost everyone
becomes exposed to the concept. Both good and evil can come to life in countless
forms, specifically in literature. Good versus evil is one theme that is explicitly
displayed throughout A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings . Throughout the story,
the feelings of good and evilrebound numerous times. Through the setting, motifs,
and the very old man with enormous wings, himself, the reader is clearly able to
identify the fact that evilhas corrupted the town; not even an angel can save them

Crabs symbolize the growing weaknesses of the town. In addition, the crabs display
that the signs of weakness show up everywhere and in abundance. However, motifs
that symbolize good were also present in the story. Pelayo and Elisenda s child at the
beginning of the story symbolized innocence. As a result, the evil remanence in the
story corrupts the good, innocent child by making the child ill. In turn, Elisenda
shows motherly traits by putting compresses on the sick child (Marquez, 590). Both
good and evil motifs clash in the short story, making the meaning and underlying
details of the story more interesting for the reader. The angel, himself, symbolizes
one of the only good forces in the story. At first, the angel is something to admire, but
as the story goes on the citizens start to disrespect him. Throughout all the problems,
the angel continues being a positive force in the town. The angel was the only one
who took no part in his own act (Marquez, 592). In the end, the innocence of the angel
helped him escape. He was quite careful that no one should notice them that no one
should hear the sea chanteys that he sometimes sang under the stars (Marquez, 594).
In conclusion, the angel continuously showed graciousness and patience, which in the
end helped the angel on his journey away from the evil forces of the town of
Macondo. In conclusion, good versus evil was a theme showed continuously

The Twelve steps are a part of the OA recovery program. This offers individuals a
new way to cope with life that enables the compulsive eater to live without the need
of excessive amount of food. I learned that the ideas expressed in the Twelve Steps,
which originated in Alcoholics Anonymous, reflects experiences and spiritual
insights throughout the ages. Although, there have been small changes made to make
these applicable to eating disorders, but such adaptation has been minimal. According
to OA, there are two models that are used; the 12 Steps of Overeaters Anonymous

Irvine Welsh s latest novel The Blade Artist (released this year) was a novel that

Artist is a crime and thriller novel that keeps you guessing until the end. Frank
Begbie s first son, Sean Begbie is found dead in his hometown Leith and he makes
it his mission to find the killer. He also encounters some old friends and enemies

always who they say they are and Frank Begbie as an interesting character.
Frank Begbie was an interesting character for me because he has lived two
different lives over his life and they feature two very different people with very
different personalities. His personality as Jim Francis is a very calm character who
is happy with life as a sculptor whereas Frank Begbie which is his original identity
is obsessed with violence and loved to play tricks which would harm people.

Jim was punching and kicking Santiago on the beach. The conversation between the
pair went like this. Santiago screams in pain Please don t hurt me anymore Jim!

Comparing Purloined Letter And Scandal In Bohemia
Scandal in Bohemia and The Purloined Letter are two different detective stories. In
Scandal in Bohemia Irene Alder stole a picture from the King of Bohemia. The
King hires Sherlock Holmes to find out where Irene was hiding the picture and get
it back for him. The picture that Irene had stolen was a picture of the King and
Irene and it could jeopardize the King s marriage. In The Purloined Letter the
Minister stole a letter from the Royal Lady that had sensitive material in it. Dupin

Sherlock Holmes uses observational skills on almost everything that he sees and
does. When Holmes is talking to Watson he says, ...my eyes tell me that on the
inside of your left shoe, just where the firelight strikes it, the leather is scored six
almost parallel cuts. Obviously they have been caused by someone who has very
carelessly scraped round the edges of the sole in order to remove crusted mud
from it. Hence, you see, my double deduction that you had been out in vile
weather, and that you had a particularly malignant boot slitting specimen of the

to him how he both sees and observes. This is proven in the quote because he sees
the six almost parallel cuts on the inside of Watsons left shoe but Holmes doesn t
stop there after he sees the shoe he observes the shoe he explains how those cuts got
there and what led up to the cuts. Holmes also says, You have not observed. And yet
you have seen. That is just my point. Now, I know that there are seventeen steps,
because I have both seen and observed. Holmes is telling Watson that he has only
seen the stairs and not observed him. Watson did not know that there were seventeen
stairs he just knew that the stairs were there while Holmes had observed them and
knew that there were seventeen stairs. Like Holmes, Dupin also is observational

Autobiography Of Independence And Independence
I was young when the independence movement started. I was only 12 when we
first gained our independence from Britain. Life was very different before then,
we were under British control. I was not very aware of what was happening at the
time, but each night I would hear my mother and father talking. They would talk
about what was happening and how they were excited to gain independence from
Britain. It wasn t until that I was around 17, that I started to understand what was
happening. In the years before we gained independence I would hear my parents
talking about how the country was in Economic depression and there was more of
a Nationalist movement. My father soon left to go fight for the British in WWII
and I did not see him much until the war was mostly over for his part and he would
talk of concepts such as Liberty, Freedom and Equality. After the War, Britain was
falling apart and I heard how India had gained their independence. There was constant
talk of independence but it took a while for something to happen.
Everything before October 1, 1960 was calm and peaceful, there was not much
happening down in Nigeria that I was knowledgeable about at the time. I now know
that we were a self ruling government at first with citizen representation.
In October when Nigeria gained independence it was a very celebratory day and I do
not remember much. The one thing I remember though is the new prime minister,
Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa s speech. He said, It is with
Arguments Against Zoos
According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), over
4,000 species of animals on Earth are endangered, which means these species have a
very high risk of becoming extinct. They become extinct for many reasons, such as
climate change, habitat loss, and poaching (The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species
). In the Encyclopedia of Environmental Issues, John Richard Schrock says that
organizations, such as the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), think
zoos are prisons, which is the complete opposite of conservation groups that believe
zoos help in repopulating animals that would have gone extinct without the
conservation efforts (45 48). Although many people wish for zoos to close, these
places are beneficial and may be the only hope for the continuation of some species
of animals. Undoubtedly, zoos are helpful to animals in many ways. With some
endangered speciesof animals, breeding in captivity is the only means of their
survival. Some zoos have these programs to help the animals with the reproduction
of their species. Not only are zoos helpful to create new... Show more content on

One argument against zoos is that it is very difficult to recreate an exact environment
for animals, which make the animals depressed and mentally ill. Scientists think this
messes with the animals hunting and mating patterns, causing zoochosis, an
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in animals. Anti zoo organizations also believe that
the animals do not have enough privacy in their habitats. They think the guests cause
a large amount of noise, causing the animals to go insane. In fact, zoos have made
167 attempts to reintroduce animals to the wild, but only sixteen were successful (
Animals Kept in Zoos ). The zookeepers probably made the animals familiar with the
care given to them and were not able to survive independently. Anti zoo organizations
may worry about these concerns, but zoos still help animals more than they hurt

Socrates As A Martyr And Socrates
In philosophy class this semester we spoke a lot about Socrates and his trial. We
were required to read the dialogue Apology by Plato. The Apology Dialogue is
what Plato recorded during the speech Socrates gave to the court defending himself
against the charges of corrupting the young, and by not believing in the gods in
whom the city believes these two were the main charges, but underneath that there
were also other significant charges such as being considered an antidemocratic or
pro Spartan, sophistry, and being lampooned by Aristophanes in the comedy clouds .
Apology in this sense has the meaning of speaking in defense of ones beliefs or
actions. The trial is usually categorized into two interpretations which are: Socratesas
a Martyr and Socrates as an Antidemocratic. The first interpretation which says
Socrates trial and death was Socrates acting as a martyr; that interpretation is
considered more traditional and standard compared to the radical interpretation that
stated that Socrates was Antidemocratic. A martyr has different meanings, a few
definitions include: A person who is killed because of their religious or other
beliefs, a person who exaggerates their distress in order to obtain sympathy, or a
constant sufferer of something. The definition of a martyr which fit Socrates the
most is A person who is killed because of their religion or other beliefs because he
decided to die with his beliefs rather than change his beliefs and live which is a
How Water And Sunlight Affects Plant Growth
Review of Literature
Introduction How Water and Sunlight Affect Plant Growth
Photosynthesis is how water and sunlight affect plant growth. According to The
Merriam Webster Dictionary the definition of photosynthesis is the process by which
chlorophyll containing plants make carbohydrates from water and from carbon
dioxide in the air in the presence of light . This basically means photosynthesis is the
process that all green plants undertake to receive their needed food and energy using
sunlight, water (H2O), and carbon dioxide (CO2). So water and sunlight affects plant
growth by helping the process of photosynthesis, which then helps the plant receive
energy and food.
Photosynthesis is essential, not only for plants, but all living things especially
humans. As stated before, photosynthesis helps plants receive their needed food and
energy, which helps them grow and stay alive. Photosynthesis is not just helpful for
plants though. Plants produce various things we use in life such as wood, paper,
food, lumber, fuel, etc. That is not the only thing plants produce for us. They produce
oxygen for all human life and other living things to breathe. Without photosynthesis
there would be little plant life. Without plants there would be little human life.
Therefore, photosynthesis is extremely vital for all forms of life.
The process of photosynthesis is pretty complex. Sunlight and water are both very
crucial elements of this process. Here are the steps of the photosynthesis
Introductory Psychology Self-Analysis
What did you think you would be studying when you heard you were going to take
an introductory psychology course? How has this changed?
I was unsure of what introduction to psychology would entail. I thought it would be
more about diagnosing and recognizing mental disorders to prepare me for
counseling, however, I realize I must know the background of psychology to move
forward. It has changed for me because I understand this is a science as well as an
art. There is much to know in my textbook to thoroughly grasp everything in it to
apply, understand, and put into practice.
Personally, what was your mindset and goals upon entering this course have they
changed at all and, if so, how?
My mindset in the beginning was to be open minded about new things. I am
staying positive, not getting overwhelmed by the reading or scientific words, and
trying to comprehend it all. They only goals are to push through each day to the
best of my ability and to pass this class. I also want to learn something where I could
possibly help someone one day. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Finance in Business
The term finance originated in France. The English society adapted the word in the
eighteenth century to mean administration of money. It has become a permanent
fixture of English dictionary since then. Now it more than just a word and has
developed into an important academic discipline.
Moreover, the one expression which can effortlessly displace finance is EXCHANGE.
Finance is only a trade of accessible assets. Finance is not just limited to the trade or
administration of money. A barter exchange is additionally a sort of finance.
Accordingly, we can say, finance is a craft of overseeing different accessible assets
like securities, money, investments and assets and so on.
Today it s difficult to envision a world without Finance. As it were, Finance is the
soul of our investment exercises. To perform any financial action, we require
certain assets, which are to be pooled as far as money (i.e. as currency notes,
different assets, and so on.). Finance is necessary for attaining possession of physical
assets, which are required to perform activities which are productive and convey
business operations, for example, sales, pay recompenses, contingency reserves
(liabilities whose occurrence is uncertain) etc.
Thus, Finance has now turned into a natural capacity and an important part of our
daily lives. Today, it has become a statement which we frequently experience on our
everyday schedule.

Virgin And Child As A Medieval Byzantine Icon
`Virgin and Child (Vladimir Virgin) is a medieval Byzantine icon. This icon is
dated from the late 11th century and the early 12thcentury. This work is about a
virgin and child, the Virgin being St. Mary and the child being Jesus Christ. Unlike
other icons of the Virgin and Child, this icon shows a more personalized and
compassionate image of the Virgin. Here St. Marythe virgin is shown to be tender
even in the way she is holding the child. The iconographer is unknown. However, the
iconwas painted in Constantinople by a Hellenic iconographer. The Vladimir Virgin
is the most eminent middle Byzantine icon that was produced in Russia.
The Vladimir Virgin is currently in the Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow, it is
tempera on wood panel, with multiple layers of repainting, 2 61/2 x 1 9 . In this
icon Mary is shown to be the Virgin of Compassion. She is pressing her cheek
against her son and contemplating his future. When the icon is first viewed the
attention is on the compassionate virgin. The virgins small mouth, long and
straight nose compliment her dark almond shaped eyes. She gives of an almost
eerie and tender look. However, the child s face is shown to be wiser and mature.
He has an eternal look to him and his face radiates. Christ is looking up at his
mother with great admiration while her eyes are looking onward, almost in a way
of offering her child. You can see the love and passion the Virgin Mary holds for her
child, but you can also see the pain and fear she has
Hinduism Is A Monotheistic Religion
Religion is a combination of beliefs, ceremonies and set of rules used to follow god

Islam is second largest religion in the world. Islam is revealed through Mohammad

Prophet Mohammad, being a messenger of godhe started telling those teachings to the
people of Mecca and Madinah. After that, people started to convert to Islam. I always

Hinduism is the oldest religions. The most interesting thing about Hinduism is that
they have no specific founder or date of origin. Based on their beliefs Hindu s are
divided in to two casts. In the current world, there is still a big conflict about
whether Hinduism is a monotheistic religion or a polytheistic religion. Because
according to Hindus believe it s one God with many different faces. This concept
regarding Gods is accepted by some scholars, but not all of them. Hinduism has four

texts are the Vedas and Bhagavad Gita. The authors of all sacred texts are still

The Aussie Air negotiations were a series of five party talks between Down Under Air

Comparing The Coastal People And The Plateau People
The Coastal People and the Plateau People are two native American cultures that
shared the environment in Washington. Coastal people lived west of the Cascades in
Washington. The Plateau people lived east of the Cascades. Even though they are
different native American cultures, they had many things in common. Both native
American cultures live in Washington on either side of the Cascades. The Coastal
people adapted well to the wet climate. They mostly relied on the nearby ocean for
food like sea mammals and whales. They took advantage of the forest area and cut
down the cedar trees to make permanent longhouses. They also carved masks, totem
poles, and carved stones. Even though they had the wet climate, they stayed in the
same area.

An Organization For A Volunteer Program
Throughout these three final weeks of the course we focused on three particular
topics that emphasised and expands on community development. These three topics
were Module s 10 look at Organizations and their Nonprofit associated organizations,
Volunteerism which is taken from Module 8; that as a community developer I would

The Social Institution Of Education
Education is perceived by society as a means to achieve high levels of success in all
aspects of life. Although steps have been taken to afford individuals the opportunity
to obtain an education, there still lies an inequality and therefore, a social problem is
created. Using the sociological perspectives of functionalist, conflict, feminist, and
interactionist, we can see how each perspective views how this inequality becomes
prevalent and how social, as well as economic inequalities of society are inherited
through education. Functionalist define a social problem by looking for the functions
and dysfunctions of a given topic. The main function of the social institution of
education is to educate. Functionalists argue that education struggles to complete it s
intended task of education the youth due to the additional tasks that the institution
has been assigned. The educational system has taken on roles that normally would be
the functions of other social institutions. The education system provides services to
students and parents for various problems that they may have. It provides services
for students who my have emotional needs, physical challenges, as well as provide
classes for parents.
Conflict theorists view education as a divider, rather than an equalizer. Conflict
theorists focus on social and economic inequalities inherent in our educational
system. They also focus on how the system perpetuates these inequalities. Depending
on their social backgrounds,

Its purpose is to demonstrate God s love and sovereignty in all circumstances. It is a

In chapter 1 2, Esther becomes the queen of Ahasuerus of Persia. She was personally

In The Tell Tale Heart, we see the narrator describe his change from perfectly
comfortable to extremely nervous as the supposedly beating heart haunts him. He
says Yet the sound increased a low, dull, muffled sound much such a sound a watch

heartbeat as he killed him. Perhaps this was his own heartbeat, because the old man
was obviously lifeless, and we were told at the start of the story how dreadfully
nervous the narrator was. His nervousness caused him to come forward as the
perpetrator because he could not handle the emotional challenge of concealing the
body. In The Black Cat, it was by accident that the body was revealed to the police.
The main character remarks, this is a very well constructed house , while rapping

Transgenic Pigs Pros And Cons
Transgenic pigs and other genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are a source of
controversy in the medical and agricultural worlds. For the most part, public opinion
on the use of modified animals for food is not positive. Many people question the
ethics of inserting DNA into animal embryos and others fear the effects editing DNA
may have on animals (Delaney, 2010). Opponents of GMO use tend to lack
scientific data to support their arguments, citing sources such as CBS news and the
New York Times (Non GMO Project, 2014). However, transgenic animals are not
always entirely stable, such as the first transgenic line of pigs, which was found to be
unpredictable in reproduction (Meidinger et al., 2013). Nevertheless, once
ascertained, these concerns... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The CA line pigs fed a diet without P supplementation were capable of growing
equivalently to the non transgenic pigs fed a diet with supplemental P, meaning that
transgenic pigs are not hampered by the transgene when it comes to growth
performance. As farmers tend to prefer pigs that grow well, this finding means that
transgenic pigs can be considered as suitable replacements to the conventional pig.
In addition, because gain to feed ratios are similar between the two breeds, farmers
should be more tolerant of the modified pigs. The health of the CA pigs also appears
to be similar to the Yorkshire, as the blood serum P and alkaline phosphatase
concentration are in range for correct bone formation, though this was not tested.
Most importantly, however, are the P retention and output percentages of the CA
pigs. Based on data from this study, transgenic pigs excrete far less P (Meidinger et
al., 2013), which in turn leads to lower P in manure runoff, a major source of water
pollution. With a lower P excretion without supplemental phytase, the transgenic pig
appears to be better for the environment than the Yorkshire. The phytase secretion in
the saliva of the CA pigs, therefore, appears to be sufficient for P digestion.
Additionally, the phytase secretion seems to aid in the utilization of macrominerals,
which may limit ammonia emissions from the pigs, another environmental benefit
(Meidinger et al., 2013). Consequently, the Enviropig appears to be a suitable strategy
in managing the environmental effects of swine production, aside from the possible
denitrification of soil (Yang et al., 2008). In order to be entirely certain the transgenic
pig is advantageous in reducing environmental impact, studies must be done to weigh
the benefits and detriments. In addition, the public must also accept the
Brief Encounter With A Person Who Changed My Life
Every day we interact with many different people. Some encounters are brief and
some will be so important that they will impact you for the rest of your life. I once
had a brief encounter that turned into a life changing event. I has an encounter with a
person who profoundly changed my future .Through the meekness that he had while
dealing with my fragile broken heart. The countless hours he spent mentoring and
encouraging me through the hardest times in my life.
It was an ordinary yet cold day in October of 2008 with the temperature reaching 53
degrees. I could see children waiting on the side of a dirt road to board the big yellow
school bus. They wore big fur jackets, boots, mittens, hats and had long double
layered scarves wrapped around their small necks. The school bus speed down the
one way street and pulled over. Stumbled out the bus for his morning cigarette
while the children fought over the half upholstered wore out seats for the best
place to sit. With a hoarse voice from years of cigarette smoking the driver
screamed out, children stop running , then slowly made his way back to the
discolored bus and drove off. It was there on the side of the unpaved road that my
ordinary day took a turn. That was the day I met my hero and the person who would
profoundly change my life.
He stood 5 9, athletic built. His light brown almond shaped eyes screamed mystery
and he walked as if he was gliding on a skating ring. When he spoke it was of

The role of sex in advertising is debatable and most...
The role of sex in advertising is debatable and most individuals, including industry
experts, conclude that having the target audience of an advertisement comprehend
the overall message being sent in an advertisement is the essential objective. In
order for a message to get across, the advertisement must first get the attention of the
target audience or market. After all, if advertisers are unable to get one s attention
they will not be able to send a message. There are many strategies that advertiser s
and marketers use to capture an audience s attention. One such tactic used by many
advertisers goes with the belief that sex sells in advertising. Sexuality is an influential
motivator, and many advertisements use sexually explicit images... Show more

Men who portray the masculinity in these advertisements show robust strength,
self reliance and can be business oriented. While the majority of research is
focused on women, men can be affected as well by unrealistic body expectations. A
study done by Phillippa Diedrichs and Christina Lee examined the impact that
average size and average muscular male fashion models had as opposed to overly
in shape models had on normal men s and women s body images. The researchers
wanted to take perceived advertising effectiveness into account. A sample of over
300 men and just under 300 women viewed either no models, muscular models,
average slim or average large models. The men and women actually rated average
size models as equally effective in advertisements as muscular models. It was also
determined that for men, exposure to average size models was actually associated
with a positive body image in comparison to viewing no models, but there was no
difference when compared to muscular models. These findings suggest that average
size male models can promote positive body image and appeal to consumers
(Diedrichs, Phillippa, Lee, 2010.) On the other hand, men are sometimes portrayed as
incompetent people who need their children and wives to come to the rescue. This
could be because the advertisement was targeted at women who are the caretakers for
their family. Although the commercials may be humorous, they can be offensive to
fathers who are the
Zen Buddhism
Zen Buddhism emphasizes much like the Shinto tradition the act of cleansing, accept
that it focuses on meditation as a way to purify the mind. This interpretation of
purification as seen within the Buddhist teachings, is the attempt to clear the mind of
contaminated beliefs, concepts, and materials, which can be harmful to someone
seeking enlightenment. This can be understood by Dogen who wrote within the
Bendowa that the, The person seated in zazen without fail casts off body and mind,
severs all the heretofore disordered and defiled thoughts and views emanating from
his discriminating consciousness, conforms totally with the genuine Buddha Dharma,
(Dogen 2002, p. 12). Within this section of the text, Dogen uses a metaphysical
approach to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The negativity of being attached to materialistic objects and desires are the two most
prominent possessions that Dogen explains must be destroyed in order to achieve
absolute awareness. This belief is evident when Dogen states that, Leaving no
perceptions in any sphere or directions; all living beings use it unceasingly, with no
sphere or direction appearing in their perceptions, (Dogen 2002, p. 8). This describes
Dogen s thought that by being restricted or limited to think in a certain way can be a
leading influence where pollutants of the mind can grow and fester. The historical
context of the following passage was that Dogen gave the distinction that zazen was
the more superior technique. This was asserted in order to gain a better understanding
of the prominent technique that was utilized by the Buddha during his pilgrimage to
Japan and China. It remains evident that much like Shinto tradition, Zen Buddhism
attempts to clarify within its own interpretation the causes of these types of mental
toxins, and ways in which they can be cured. Although Shinto focuses primarily on
physical impurities, Zen Buddhism describes them on a spiritual level and so it is
through this where we can see the clear relations that the two respective religions
have with each

Ticking Tension and Silent Screams: Examining Sound in We Need To Talk About
Kevin In director Lynne Ramsay s We Need To Talk About Kevin (2011), dialogue
serves as just one of many modes of sound used to guide the narrative. Through a
series of flashbacks and flash forwards, orchestrated by diegetic and non diegetic
sounds, the film follows Eva Khatchadourian (Tilda Swinton), mother of baby Kevin
(Ricky Duer) and, later, teenage Kevin (Ezra Miller), as she recalls the influential
events leading up to and the aftermath of Kevin murdering his peers and family with
his bow and arrow. While this gruesome film actually displays little violence on the
screen, the properties of sound create the horror and trepidation experienced by the
audience. Perceptual properties of sound, including loudness and timbre, internal
diegetic sounds, Eva s thoughts and sonic flashbacks, and the use of silence when
viewing interactions between Eva and Kevin, shape the audience s understanding of
the film. The film employs on screen and off screen diegetic sounds such as
screaming, crying, and ticking and highlights objects/sounds which act as motifs.
Additionally, non diegetic sound created through the soundtrack lends a sense of
irony to different scenarios. While visuals and audio work together to create the film,
sounds in particular shape the spectator s perspective while allowing opportunities for
further interpretation. In the opening

Rhetorical Analysis Of George Orwell s Animal Farm
Introduction
George Orwell s allegorical novel Animal Farm includes two speeches given by
Squealer, who represents Bolsheviks, and Old major, who embodies Vladimir Lenin,
in order to powerfully persuade the animals of Animal Farm.
The novel is meant to represent the Russian Revolution when Vladimir Lenin gave
his speech based off of Karl Marx idea of the revolution, which was seen in our
novel when Old Major gave the speech about the animals rebelling against Farmer
Jones who represented Tsar Nicholas ll. The speech given by Squealer to persuade the
animals that they should vote with Napoleon, aka Joseph Stalin, to build the
windmill represents the Bolsheviks who wanted to help industrialize Russia during
this time.

He instilled the idea to Napoleon and the rest of the animals that the humans are bad
and the animals deserve better treatment. He represents Vladimir Lenin and Karl
Marx during the Russian Revolution because he created/taught the animals about
communism/marxism.
Audience: The audience is the animals on the farm because Old Major is telling
them about the vision he had about their specific farm. The animals latch to the new
idea because they are uneducated and Old Major was very persuasive about his ideas.
This represents the people being oppressed by Russia s old government .
Purpose/ Message: The purpose of the speech was to persuade the animals that they
need to start preparing for a rebellion against the humans. The message of his speech
was that the humans are the real enemy and they deserve a better life than over

Is the Washington Consensus a Help or Hinderence
The Washington Consensus has proved more of a help than a hindrance to the
economic development of countries. Assess the validity of this claim.
The Washington Consensus refers to the idea that the International Monetary Fund,
the World Trade Organisation and the World Bank share common ideals. This is the
idea that trade liberalisation and moving towards free trade is the best way for
countries to develop.
The IMF has 185 member countries; their work mainly consists of monitoring and
advising countries on exchange rates, providing loans in emergencies, both long and
short term and providing assistance and training. The IMF requires countries that
receive loans to put in place reforms in the form of Structural Adjustment Programs

They argue that the US cotton subsidies WTO agreements and that US cotton
subsidies were harmful to Brazilian cotton growers.
In 2009 The WTO accused the US of using subsidies exceeding the cap. This victory
gained by Brazil confirms the idea that US subsidies are harmful.
In this dispute, Benin and Chad gave support as third parties, they would be likely
to win a case on similar grounds to Brazil however they would reap little reward as
they import very little from the US so any sanction upon this would be unlikely to
have much effect. Another risk of opening conflicts with the US for these countries
are that they receive aid form them, to speak out alone against them could leave them
very vulnerable.
In this case study, these developing countries should not be in this position. The
idea of subsidies goes against the ideals of the WTO s trade liberalisation approach
and has by their own rules been declared illegal however it is allowed to continue
under he conditions of a cap which really doesn t benefit anyone.
These organisations do provide help to the developing countries of the world, this is
undisputed. However they also do a lot of damage. It is clear that free trade, loans,
SAPs and privatization are key to economic development and globalization. Although
the evidence seems to support the fact that the Washington consensus is ineffective in
reducing poverty and facilitating trade. They are also heavily criticized for being
heavily in favour of the

Welcome to VeronaBeach, a sexy, violent other world, neither future nor past, ruled
by two rival families, the Montagues and the Capulets...
So begins Baz Luhrmann s production of Shakespeare s beloved play, quot;Romeo

Lots of music, fast cuts, fantastic cinematography and superb sets and costumes
make it the lively tale it was meant to be. These features also make the film
somewhat cartoon like with a lot of heightened realism. Don t expect to see British
people prancing around in tights when you rent this one. Luhrmann creates a world
where gun toting youths sport Hawaiian shirts and beachfront brawls are an everyday
event.
Purists may hesitate, but the film uses its modern setting to its full potential and
should be required viewing for any director who looks to put a modern spin on the
400 year old play. Capulet and Montague become warring Mafia leaders, the Prince
of Verona is a police chief trying to overcome the violence, and television anchors
represent Shakespeare s traditional chorus. Other, more subtle narrative devices work
equally as well. No modern audience could mistake the significance of the
quot;attempted delivery quot; post it that falls off the door, never to be found. This
isn t just an update; director Baz Luhrmann has created a savvy exploitation of the
film medium that assists the audience with Shakespeare s dated language.
Giving the classic play this modern twist makes for a new understanding of the text
and brings the feud between the Montagues and the Capulets to a whole new,
dramatic level. Shakespeare may be rolling around in his grave after seeing this film,
but English classes all over the world can breathe a little easier when it comes time to

Animal Jealousy In Animals
There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that animals become jealous too, just like humans.
Going beyond tales exchanged by pet owners, scientists are now studying and
identifying emotions in animals.
Live Science noted that research is beginning to suggest that jealousy in a primordial
emotion that people and some animals share. But for the jealousy to be felt, the person
or the animal must have the cognitive ability to recognize the importance of a
relationship and to assess potential threats to that relationship which is a tall order for
some animals.
Inborn emotion
According to studies, infants as young as six months old showed jealousy when their
mothers interacted with another baby which was actually a realistic looking doll.
The situation suggested that jealousy is an inborn emotion that is not learned and it
had evolved to protect any type of social relationship from interlopers. It may also
exist in other social animals.
Animal experts now believe that dogs, for instance, become jealous when their
owners give too much attention to a rival animal. Dogs were more likely to snap
and push their owners if the pet felt it was being excluded for the affection, according
to University of California researchers.
Professor Christine Harris, the lead researcher, said that the study suggested it is not
only dogs that engage in what seems to be jealous behaviors. The pets also seek to
break up the connection between the owner and its perceived rival.
She noted that many
Essay On Shylock In The Merchant Of Venice
In a world full of beauty of countless varieties we allow ourselves to succumb to fear
and hate. We hate that which we don t know, and we hate those who don t share the
same belief. Ultimately our hatred destroys the beauty and only leaves us with more
hatred. In Shakespeare s, The Merchant of Venice, Shylockis a devout jew who lives
in Italy during a time of jewish persecution. Shylock is a successful money lender
who is constantly harassed by the citizens of Venice because of his faith. Over the
years of constant abuse the hatred and abuse causes shylock to develop a hatred
for his christian tormentors and after a series of events a desire for retribution for
their misdeeds. In the beginning of the play Shylock is a money lender, a
profession that is highly frowned upon in the Christian faith, even though he is very
successful in his craft he s hated by society because of his faith and profession. Due
to both of these, Shylock faces persecution from the community. One person who
Shylock seems to really hate is Bassanio, a Venetian Noble who constantly belittles
him and in one instance spat on Shylock. In the play Bassanio along with his
companion Antonio come to Shylock in a request for a loan. As Shylock thinks on
whether or not to accept their request we begin to see his hatred root for Antonio and
Bassanio as he says to Antonio:
Signor Antonio, many a time and oft / In the Rialto you have rated me / About my
moneys and my usances. / Still have I borne it

The Teacher Essay

  • 1. The Teacher Essay Crafting an essay on the topic of "The Teacher" is a task that presents both challenges and rewards. The difficulty arises not from a lack of information or personal experience with teachers, but rather from the vastness and depth of the subject matter. The role of a teacher is multifaceted, encompassing aspects of education, mentorship, and personal development. Attempting to encapsulate all these dimensions within the confines of an essay demands careful consideration of the scope and focus. One of the primary challenges is to strike a balance between generalizations and specific examples. The essay should not merely recite common notions about teachers but delve into unique anecdotes or characteristics that make the teacher-student relationship special. Finding this balance requires a nuanced understanding of the subject and a keen ability to relate personal experiences to broader themes. Moreover, the essay should avoid becoming a mere list of qualities or duties of a teacher. Instead, it should strive to convey a deeper understanding of the impact teachers have on individuals and society as a whole. This involves navigating through the complexities of pedagogy, the psychology of learning, and the social dynamics within a classroom. Another challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s and platitudes. Expressing appreciation for teachers is common, but the essay must find a fresh and authentic way to convey this sentiment. It requires a thoughtful exploration of the emotional and intellectual connections formed in the educational journey, steering clear of overused phrases that may diminish the essay's originality. In conclusion, writing an essay on "The Teacher" demands a delicate dance between the personal and the universal, the specific and the general. It requires a writer to navigate through the rich tapestry of educational experiences and distill them into a coherent and compelling narrative. While challenging, the process offers an opportunity for self-reflection and a deeper appreciation of the profound impact teachers have on shaping minds and futures. Life on earth is inconceivable without trees. Forests create climate, climate influences peoples character, and so on and so forth. There can be neither civilization nor happiness if forests crash down under the axe, if the climate is harsh and severe, if people are also harsh and severe. ... What a terrible future! Anton Pavlovich Chekhov The forest is a place filled with many wonders. Unfortunately, because of the effects deforestation it s quickly being consumed away, due to the need of agriculture, livestock, and also the need to create housing, according to the. According to Alina Bradford a contributing writer for live science she writes in her article deforestation fact, cause and effects this is quoted, NASA predicts that if current deforestation levels proceed, the world s rainforests may be completely in as little as 100 years . Deforestation is leading to many problematic issues in our environment like damaging water cycles, corrupting the soil and destroying wildlife. First, the effects of deforestation will have trouble effects on the planet water cycles because the trees help gather in maintain moisture. Trees Play a gigantic roll to the water cycle. They absorb rain fall and produce water vapor that is released into the atmosphere. Trees also reduces the amount of pollution in the water, according to the North Carolina State University, by

  • 4. How The Mp3 Murdered The Music Industry Amber Rose Johnson Kocur AP Language and Composition 16.5..2016 How the Mp3 Murdered the Music Industry It is easily rational to assume that music is something every human experiences in some way everyday, and is it reasonable to assume that the majority of people in global north countries possess at least 1 mp3 file. It may be, however, inaccurate to assume one purchased that mp3 file. Since it s invention, the mp3 has opened new markets of digital music play, overshadowing the past markets of physical record sale. New copyright laws were developed to evade the ease and massive scale of common, everyday piracy that grew out of the wide range use of mp3. Meanwhile, full markets grew out of this concept of free digital music, causing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike piracy, streaming is a highly profitable market that strives to deter piracy. Spotify states on its site that it recognized the mass consumption of pirated music, and the small or nonexistent income it provides for artists, stating its mission to provide a legal and paid service to provide music and produce the revenue the artists deserve ( Spotify Explained ). Apple Music hosts similar business strategy, however focuses more on the mission of providing over 30 million songs on a 24/7 radio station in its mission statement ( Apple Music ). Therefore, it is absolutely true that piracy has but a small, mostly harmless effect on the music industry, as with streaming, which actually is a highly profitable market in the music industry. The birth of the mp3 began with the research of Eberhard Zwicker in psychoacoustics. In researching items like sound pressure and integrity, he turned the concepts into mathematical logarithms like L=20Log(p/pв‚Ђ)dB (Zwicker). Over this time, Zwicker found that the human ear was an adaptive organ which, by natural selection, served two purposes: to hear and interpret language and provide an early warning system against enormous carnivorous cats, and it was no better than it had to be to serve those two purposes (Witt). Around the same time as this research, the compact disc (CD) hit the market in 1982, claiming perfect sound forever , being celebrated as one of the most important engineering achievements in
  • 5. Electrochemical Cells Using The Nernst Equation INTRODUCTION The premise and focus of experiment 9 Electrochemistry was to demonstrate the potential, in volts, that can be generated by electrochemical cells and how to calculate the theoretical potential of those electrochemical cells using the Nernst equation. Of the electrochemical cells used, there were two different types, voltaic and concentration. Voltaic cells are composed of two half cells with differing electrodes and solutions that result in a spontaneous flow of electrons from one half cell to the other half cell until equilibrium is met. In Voltaic cells, this flow of electrons is driven by redoxreactions and the reduction potential of the half cells. Concentration cells are composed of half cells with identical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This oxidation increases the oxidation state of the atom while the reduction of an atom causing the oxidation state to decrease. Whenever an atom is oxidized, there is a corresponding oxidizing agent that oxidized the atom, likewise there is a corresponding reducing agent whenever an atom is reduced. During redox reactions, the oxidized atom tends to be the reducing agent and the reduced atom tends to be the oxidizing agent. When balancing a redox reaction, it is separated into two half reactions, the oxidation process and the reduction process. These two half reactions are then balanced based on the number of electrons being transferred and then combine to find the overall equation for the reaction. Electrochemical cells are devices that can generate electrical energy through the transfer of electrons.3 They are composed of two half cells that are separated except by a circuit and a salt bridge. Each of the half cells consist of a solution of ions, called an electrolyte, with an electrode, which is typical a metal or a compound that is conductive, submerged in the electrolyte. Of the two electrodes in an electrochemical cell, one is considered an anode and the other is considered the cathode. This is determined by where oxidation and reduction is occurring in the cell. The

I was 7 years old when I found out I was getting a new family.I didn t know what I was excited about more, was it that it was the last day of school or the day I was finally gonna get adopted, I was mostly excited about getting adopted. Getting home putting on the perfect white dress I have ever worn in my life, It was huge on me but I looked beautiful. The bell rang and I hurried up, grabbed my stuff and got on the bus. It was the most beautiful day ever There was no clouds in the sky and it was hot. When I got home my mom said are you ready Yes I can t wait I said. I go and put on the dress, it went all the way past my ankles. As a kid would say, it is cute. I walked into the kitchen where my mom had to put safety pins in it because it was so big It felt like I was gonna take a trip down the stairs. After a while I was so excited I couldn t stand it, it got to a point where I started annoying my mom asking her if it was time yet. When she was ready I ran to the suburban. I sat all the way in the back because I loved the back it was my favorite spot. On our way there I sat in my car seat waiting to get to the court house it took us about two minutes to get there but it felt like hours. I got out of the suburban and waited for everyone to get out, when everyone was finally out of the suburban we went into the

  • 8. Designing An Interactive Model For Finding The Optimal... Abstract The motivation behind this paper is to propose a new approach called objective factorizable approach based on a decomposition algorithm in an interactive model for finding the optimal solution to multi level large scale quadratic programming problem (MLLSQPP), in which the objective function can be factorized into two single linear objective functions and has block angular structure of the constraints. What s more, the author advances the concepts of satisfactoriness as the upper level decision makers preferences until the preferred solution is come to. The bi section method is suggested as an essential solution method to assess these upper level decision makers preferences precisely. Finally, in order to exhibit the proficiency of the proposed model, an illustrative example is provided. Keywords Decomposition algorithm; multilevel programming; large scale problem; quadratic programming; bisection method. 1.Introduction Multi Level Programming (MLP) problems are an arrangement of overlapped hierarchical optimization problems with numerous decision makers (DMs) over a solitary feasible region. MLP techniques relegate each DM a unique objective, a set of decision variables, and a set of common constraints that influence all DMs. DMs make decision in turn or meanwhile to optimize their objective functions. [1, 2, 3, 4] The vast majority of the optimization problems emerging in real world applications incorporate vast numbers of variables and constraints, which
  • 9. Pros And Cons Of The Transcontinental Railroad The building of the Transcontinental Railroad changed everything. It was started in 1860 and finished on May 10, 1869. The Transcontinental Railroad was a railroad that linked the eastern and western United States. There were many benefits that came with the Transcontinental Railroad, but where there are pros, there are also cons. The Transcontinental Railroad affected everyone from the Indians, to the Chinese, to the environment. The Transcontinental Railroad affected the Indians mostly, in my opinion. Americans needed the Indians land to build the railroad. That way the railroad would cut straight through everything and be faster instead of being longer than necessary and taking more time to build. The Indians were forced off
  • 10. Descriptive Essay About Speedball Abdulrahman Aleidan Writing 50B One of the most exciting things that I have done in my life is the sport of paintballing in which I played professionally in my home country of Kuwait. Paintballing is like a game of tag in which two teams of six people face each other in an arena with inflatable cover. The objective of the game is to tag out as many people as you can with your paintball gun that has paintballs that explode on impact. In paintballing there is woodstyle, speedball and scenario which varies in whatever arena or location that you are playing in. To me this is the closest that anyone can get to a combat scenario and the feeling that I get from playing the sport gets my heart racing every time making me very excited and happy when I go out with my team to play. When playing woodsballstyle we are placed in a location with many trees that gives us a in the woods feeling. In woodsball you have to be very smart how you move your team and who has who because some people use camouflage clothing that makes it hard to see and you can get shot very easily without even knowing. In woodsball I like to use a longrange weapon so that I can shoot people from farther away without the risk of pushing up and getting shot and eliminated from the game. I remember one time ... One of my best memories is winning a championship of speedball with my team in Dubai. We went up against the #1 team at the time and getting that win felt great. Til this day I can say that speedball is my favorite style of
  • 11. Peter Drucker 1 Peter F. Drucker developed the Management by Objectives Theory . This theory presents an objective that needs to be accomplished. A manager will receive an objective and break it down into achievable goals. The Manager will then delegate employees on what tasks should be done. Once all tasks are complete the project will fit together like pieces of a puzzle. This style of managementis good for the employee in the fact that they are told what to do, but get to be creative and accomplish the task in their own manner. Submitted June 26, 2009 Introduction There is a time when every entrepreneur starts at the bottom of the food chain. You receive orders that came from your store manager who received them from their regional manager ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Management by Objective s is very versatile and can be used for many different purposes. It can be used when you want employees to develop self leadership and management skills. This will also help employees be creative; and be able to draw back into past experience and pick up on patterns and apply them to present tasks (Kotelnikov, 2001, В¶ 5). Setting Objectives In Management by Objectives theory the hardest part can be the first step of the process, setting the objectives. When starting this management style there are two questions that you can ask to get yourself started. These questions are; what are the objectives and what are the time frames in which goals should be met (Kotelnikov, 2001, p. 2)? When setting up the objectives for you first time the S.M.A.R.T. method is a good resource to use. This method acts as a guideline to set up objectives and to keep you on the right track. The S.M.A.R.T. method stands for: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time based (Bogue, 2009, В¶ 12). When setting up objectives there are many variables that come into effect. First off objectives should be specific; this is done by describing what you are trying to achieve. For example, stating that productivity needs to increase is very broad; and should be stated more along the lines of increase productivity by ten percent . This way the objective

Forks Over Knives Analysis The film Forks Over Knives begins with some pretty alarming statistics regarding obesity, and clips of some inherently unhealthy food choices and very large waistlines. One of the patients featured in the movie goes to two doctors that assess his health, which is sub par, as his cholesterol is much higher than it should be. His treatment was to adopt a Whole Foods/Plant Based diet. The film illustrates a huge increase in calories from meat, dairy, and refined sugars in the American diet from the early 1900 s over double in each category. This is how the modern American diet, regardless of age, is portrayed in the entire film. This diet will, of course, promote weight gain through excessive calories. This diet will promote diabetes through insulin resistance, and the high cholesterol from a large amount of animal fat will promote heart disease. The goal of the movie is to support a vegan, whole foods diet. My problem with the film is that it only discusses diet in terms of extremes. The patients represented in the film all had terrible habits and practiced no moderation in terms of food intake, eating high amounts of salt, meat, dairy, and few fresh foods. When switching to a completely plant based diet without processed foods, many health problems were reversed and could be managed through diet alone. The film does not discuss several issues that can accompany a diet in which no animal foods are consumed: active B12 deficiency, iron intake, vitamin D consumption and synthesis, and sources of essential fatty acids EPA and DHA. The recommended diet by the American Dietetics Association includes modest amounts of meat, dairy and animal fats, and every single patient in the film exceeded intakes of those foods. What isn t covered in the film is the health of individuals that consume a diet that adheres to recommendations, and I feel that this film fails to address the effects of animal
  • 14. Sun Affects The Heat Of The Sun To start on how the sun produces heat, the sun consists mostly of hydrogen, especially at its core. The core is only one fourth of its size but this is where all of the reactions happen and where all the heat of the sun is actually produced. In the core of a star, it is so pressurized and so hot that nuclear fusion occurs every 9.2Г—1037 times a second. The hydrogen molecules are forced together to make helium molecules. When this reaction occurs, it releases 0.7% of the mass in the form of energy. The conversion rate of mass into energy is 4.26 million metric tons a second. This type of reaction is what occurred in a hydrogen bomb. So just like the bomb, that explosion is what happens in the sunbut not exactly. Because the sun is so dense with hydrogen and helium, the explosion is contained. The outer mantle of the sun, which makes up three fourths of the sun and consists of all of the energy that is created by the core, contains this explosion. Plus the inward gravitation pull on itself also keeps the explosions contained.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the fusion reactions in the core start becoming too few, the start can collapse change the composition of the sun and reactions that happen inside of the sun. If the inner reactions pressure becomes more than the outside pressure then the start will explode. The star will become white and become a nova. This balance helps regulate the star, like if the fusion reactions started to decrease then the star would shrink, increase heat and pressure, and increase the fusion reactions. Unlike all these variables of a star, our star is perfectly balanced, at this moment

In turn, Elisenda shows motherly traits by putting compresses on the sick child (Marquez, 590). Both good and evil motifs clash in the short story, making the meaning and underlying details of the story more interesting for the reader. The angel, himself, symbolizes one of the only good forces in the story. At first, the angel is something to admire, but as the story goes on the citizens start to disrespect him. Throughout all the problems, the angel continues being a positive force in the town. The angel was the only one who took no part in his own act (Marquez, 592). In the end, the innocence of the angel helped him escape. He was quite careful that no one should notice them that no one should hear the sea chanteys that he sometimes sang under the stars (Marquez, 594). In the Encyclopedia of Environmental Issues, John Richard Schrock says that organizations, such as the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), think zoos are prisons, which is the complete opposite of conservation groups that believe zoos help in repopulating animals that would have gone extinct without the conservation efforts (45 48). Although many people wish for zoos to close, these places are beneficial and may be the only hope for the continuation of some species of animals. One argument against zoos is that it is very difficult to recreate an exact environment for animals, which make the animals depressed and mentally ill. Scientists think this messes with the animals hunting and mating patterns, causing zoochosis, an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in animals. Anti zoo organizations also believe that the animals do not have enough privacy in their habitats. They think the guests cause a large amount of noise, causing the animals to go insane. In fact, zoos have made 167 attempts to reintroduce animals to the wild, but only sixteen were successful ( Animals Kept in Zoos ). The zookeepers probably made the animals familiar with the care given to them and were not able to survive independently. Anti zoo organizations may worry about these concerns, but zoos still help animals more than they hurt

The Apology Dialogue is what Plato recorded during the speech Socrates gave to the court defending himself against the charges of corrupting the young, and by not believing in the gods in whom the city believes these two were the main charges, but underneath that there were also other significant charges such as being considered an antidemocratic or pro Spartan, sophistry, and being lampooned by Aristophanes in the comedy clouds . Apology in this sense has the meaning of speaking in defense of ones beliefs or actions. The trial is usually categorized into two interpretations which are: Socratesas a Martyr and Socrates as an Antidemocratic. The first interpretation which says Socrates trial and death was Socrates acting as a martyr; that interpretation is considered more traditional and standard compared to the radical interpretation that stated that Socrates was Antidemocratic. According to The Merriam Webster Dictionary the definition of photosynthesis is the process by which chlorophyll containing plants make carbohydrates from water and from carbon dioxide in the air in the presence of light . This basically means photosynthesis is the process that all green plants undertake to receive their needed food and energy using sunlight, water (H2O), and carbon dioxide (CO2). So water and sunlight affects plant growth by helping the process of photosynthesis, which then helps the plant receive energy and food. Photosynthesis is essential, not only for plants, but all living things especially humans. As stated before, photosynthesis helps plants receive their needed food and energy, which helps them grow and stay alive. Photosynthesis is not just helpful for plants though. Plants produce various things we use in life such as wood, paper, food, lumber, fuel, etc. That is not the only thing plants produce for us. They produce oxygen for all human life and other living things to breathe. Without photosynthesis there would be little plant life. Without plants there would be little human life. Therefore, photosynthesis is extremely vital for all forms of life. The process of photosynthesis is pretty complex. Sunlight and water are both very crucial elements of this process. Here are the steps of the photosynthesis

Glenn s accomplishment threw America ahead in the famous Space Race with the U.S.S.R. Recently, NASA announced that they plan on having a manned mission to Mars by 2035. However, there s a lot of competition. Quite a few nonprofit and for profit organizations believe they can get people to Mars sooner and cheaper than NASA. If NASA is the first organization to have a successful manned

Coastal people lived west of the Cascades in Washington. The Plateau people lived east of the Cascades. Even though they are different native American cultures, they had many things in common. Both native American cultures live in Washington on either side of the Cascades. The Coastal people adapted well to the wet climate. They mostly relied on the nearby ocean for food like sea mammals and whales. They took advantage of the forest area and cut down the cedar trees to make permanent longhouses. They also carved masks, totem poles, and carved stones. Even though they had the wet climate, they stayed in the same area.

Although steps have been taken to afford individuals the opportunity to obtain an education, there still lies an inequality and therefore, a social problem is created. Using the sociological perspectives of functionalist, conflict, feminist, and interactionist, we can see how each perspective views how this inequality becomes prevalent and how social, as well as economic inequalities of society are inherited through education. Functionalist define a social problem by looking for the functions and dysfunctions of a given topic. The main function of the social institution of education is to educate. Functionalists argue that education struggles to complete it s intended task of education the youth due to the additional tasks that the institution has been assigned. The educational system has taken on roles that normally would be the functions of other social institutions. Perhaps this was his own heartbeat, because the old man was obviously lifeless, and we were told at the start of the story how dreadfully nervous the narrator was. His nervousness caused him to come forward as the perpetrator because he could not handle the emotional challenge of concealing the body. For the most part, public opinion on the use of modified animals for food is not positive. Many people question the ethics of inserting DNA into animal embryos and others fear the effects editing DNA may have on animals (Delaney, 2010). Opponents of GMO use tend to lack scientific data to support their arguments, citing sources such as CBS news and the New York Times (Non GMO Project, 2014). However, transgenic animals are not always entirely stable, such as the first transgenic line of pigs, which was found to be unpredictable in reproduction (Meidinger et al., 2013). Nevertheless, once ascertained, these concerns... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The CA line pigs fed a diet without P supplementation were capable of growing equivalently to the non transgenic pigs fed a diet with supplemental P, meaning that transgenic pigs are not hampered by the transgene when it comes to growth performance. As farmers tend to prefer pigs that grow well, this finding means that transgenic pigs can be considered as suitable replacements to the conventional pig. In addition, because gain to feed ratios are similar between the two breeds, farmers should be more tolerant of the modified pigs. The health of the CA pigs also appears to be similar to the Yorkshire, as the blood serum P and alkaline phosphatase concentration are in range for correct bone formation, though this was not tested. Most importantly, however, are the P retention and output percentages of the CA pigs. Based on data from this study, transgenic pigs excrete far less P (Meidinger et al., 2013), which in turn leads to lower P in manure runoff, a major source of water pollution. With a lower P excretion without supplemental phytase, the transgenic pig appears to be better for the environment than the Yorkshire. The phytase secretion in the saliva of the CA pigs, therefore, appears to be sufficient for P digestion. Additionally, the phytase secretion seems to aid in the utilization of macrominerals, which may limit ammonia emissions from the pigs, another environmental benefit (Meidinger et al., 2013). Consequently, the Enviropig appears to be a suitable strategy in managing the environmental effects of swine production, aside from the possible denitrification of soil (Yang et al., 2008). In order to be entirely certain the transgenic pig is advantageous in reducing environmental impact, studies must be done to weigh the benefits and detriments. In addition, the public must also accept the

The role of sex in advertising is debatable and most individuals, including industry experts, conclude that having the target audience of an advertisement comprehend the overall message being sent in an advertisement is the essential objective. In order for a message to get across, the advertisement must first get the attention of the target audience or market. After all, if advertisers are unable to get one s attention they will not be able to send a message. There are many strategies that advertiser s and marketers use to capture an audience s attention. The researchers wanted to take perceived advertising effectiveness into account. A sample of over 300 men and just under 300 women viewed either no models, muscular models, average slim or average large models. The men and women actually rated average size models as equally effective in advertisements as muscular models. It was also determined that for men, exposure to average size models was actually associated with a positive body image in comparison to viewing no models, but there was no difference when compared to muscular models. These findings suggest that average size male models can promote positive body image and appeal to consumers (Diedrichs, Phillippa, Lee, 2010.) On the other hand, men are sometimes portrayed as incompetent people who need their children and wives to come to the rescue. This could be because the advertisement was targeted at women who are the caretakers for their family. Although the commercials may be humorous, they can be offensive to fathers who are the

Through a series of flashbacks and flash forwards, orchestrated by diegetic and non diegetic sounds, the film follows Eva Khatchadourian (Tilda Swinton), mother of baby Kevin (Ricky Duer) and, later, teenage Kevin (Ezra Miller), as she recalls the influential events leading up to and the aftermath of Kevin murdering his peers and family with his bow and arrow. While this gruesome film actually displays little violence on the screen, the properties of sound create the horror and trepidation experienced by the audience. Perceptual properties of sound, including loudness and timbre, internal diegetic sounds, Eva s thoughts and sonic flashbacks, and the use of silence when viewing interactions between Eva and Kevin, shape the audience s understanding of the film. The film employs on screen and off screen diegetic sounds such as screaming, crying, and ticking and highlights objects/sounds which act as motifs. Additionally, non diegetic sound created through the soundtrack lends a sense of irony to different scenarios. While visuals and audio work together to create the film, sounds in particular shape the spectator s perspective while allowing opportunities for further interpretation. In the opening

Going beyond tales exchanged by pet owners, scientists are now studying and identifying emotions in animals. Live Science noted that research is beginning to suggest that jealousy in a primordial emotion that people and some animals share. But for the jealousy to be felt, the person or the animal must have the cognitive ability to recognize the importance of a relationship and to assess potential threats to that relationship which is a tall order for some animals. Inborn emotion According to studies, infants as young as six months old showed jealousy when their mothers interacted with another baby which was actually a realistic looking doll. The situation suggested that jealousy is an inborn emotion that is not learned and it had evolved to protect any type of social relationship from interlopers. It may also exist in other social animals. Animal experts now believe that dogs, for instance, become jealous when their owners give too much attention to a rival animal. Dogs were more likely to snap and push their owners if the pet felt it was being excluded for the affection, according to University of California researchers. Professor Christine Harris, the lead researcher, said that the study suggested it is not only dogs that engage in what seems to be jealous behaviors.
