Wheelhead s Role In The Hydrosphere
The continuous change of carbon in the universe eventually leads back to itself. In this story, a carbon
atom, named wheelhead, goes through this cycle without even realizing it. Wheelhead started in a
plant biosphere contained in a tree, but not any tree, the hardwood of a pinyon pine. Wheelhead was
here for millions of years as a part of this tree. Natural processes struck Wheelhead, like it had
thousands of times before, and buried him in a landslide. Over time, the compression of Wheelhead
and his similar carbon atoms, resulted in the formation of Wheelhead into coal. Wheelhead is no
longer in a plant biosphere, instead, Wheelhead must adjust to the fossil fuel lithosphere.
In the fossil fuel lithosphere, many chunks of coal, just like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For forty years, Wheelhead insulates heat again before, eventually, he dissolves into Lake Powell.
Wheelhead now takes on his role of being carbon in Lake Powell. This occurrence resulted in
Wheelhead entering the hydrosphere.
Wheelhead is a part of the groundwater in the hydrosphere. Wheelhead remained here for 100 years
before the next step in his journey occurs. Wheelhead precipitated out of the water as the mineral
travertine. Next Wheelhead will find himself again in the lithosphere, but this time, in the lithosphere
limestone.
Wheelhead finds himself a part of Kaibab limestone in the lithosphere. Millions of years Wheelhead
will do almost nothing but move with the Earth. Nature, however, had a different plan. Wheelhead was
oxidized, which resulted with himself in his familiar gaseous form of CO2. As gases do, Wheelhead
entered the atmosphere once again.
Being CO2 wasn t what Wheelhead wanted necessarily. Wheelhead thought of the old times where he
remembered being part of a tree. For 62 years he dreamt of one day returning to a tree. While he
would not become a tree, Wheelhead did get some of what he wanted. Wheelhead was absorbed by a
plant once again, but instead of being rudely eaten by a deer, he was able to be a part of this plant
comfortably until he decayed into

Narrative Structure Of The Spot On The Wall By Yang Woolf
Plot:
(1)The main contents of plot:
The Mark on the Wall do not have clear plots or events, some scholars call it weak plot [ Yang
Huanhuan. Discussion about the Narrative Structure of The Spot on the Wall [J] .Northern Literature,
2016(16).]. But rather, it creates a new pattern which records the flow of the writer s thinking as the
main contents which is totally different from the traditional works.
The Damned Thing is a novel overall follow the traditional novel structure: the main plot is complete
story which includes the charateristics, the scenes, time and place, the start and devlopment as well as
the ending. But his novel s uniqueness of plot is the absurd yet scientific ending, the horror theme

It broke through the shackles of traditional novels and created a new and important form of writing
which we call the Stream of Consciousness.
As one of the most representative works of the Stream of Consciousness novels, this article fully
shows the charm of this kind novel: using psychological time to organize, the center radiation
structure which seems messy but actually symmetrical and rigorous, rich imaginaries and signs which
are novel and meaningfui, Liquidity and irrationality, the innovative writing mode which flows with
the thought, reducing plot description and emphasizing character s inner monologue espeicially
subconciousness...
Apart from the common features of the Stream of Conciousness novels, this work also shows its
uniqueness: It s language is poetic, smooth and euphemistic; it refects the inner world of people in the
war especially the women; it mirrors the Woolf s thinking and dissatisfaction to the reality world as
well as her concern about women s rights. Apart from the value of literature, it also produced
aesthetic, historical and moral values for the future world.

Nursing Reflection Essay
Reflection on a clinical Skill
This essay will discuss a clinical skill in which I have become competent in practicing as a student
nurse. I will use a reflective model to discuss how I have achieved the necessary level of competence
in my nurse training programme. The reflective model I have chosen to use is Gibbs model (Gibbs
1988). Gibbs model of reflection incorporates the following: description, feelings, evaluation,
analysis, conclusion and an action plan (Gibbs 1988). The model will be applied to the essay to
facilitate critical thought, relating theory to practice where the model allows. Discussion will include
the knowledge underpinning practice and the evidence base for the clinical skill. A conclusion to the
essay will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My mentor said that this was acceptable and I continued to administer the injection, omitting the use
of the alcohol wipe. On the previous occasions when I had administered IM injections I had not
cleansed the site and had never been instructed to adopt this practice.
I am now going to enter into the second stage of Gibbs (1988) model of reflection, which is a
discussion about my thoughts and feelings. I was aware of being under the supervision of two
qualified nurses and this made me feel very nervous and self conscious. Once my mentor questioned
my practice, concerning skin cleansing, I became even more aware of feeling nervous and under
pressure. The patient was present and I did not want the patient to feel that I did not know what I was
doing. I thought that as I had been observed carrying out this clinical procedure on many other
occasions then my practice must have been seen to be correct. I was now feeling very confused about
the use of alcohol wipes in the administration of IM injection. I was also concerned that the practice of
the qualified nurses was so inconsistent, which led me to evaluate the whole process.
Evaluation is the third stage of Gibbs (1988) model of reflection and requires the reflector to with state
what was good and bad about the event. I was aware that research by Workman (1999) suggests that
the use of skin cleansing wipes is inconsistent and not necessary in IM injections if the patient appears
to be physically clean

Restricting Tobacco Advertising Essay
Restricting Tobacco Advertising
Should tobacco advertising be restricted? This is a very controversial issue. There is the idea that
young children that smoke started smoking because of advertisements, but there is also the idea that
children start smoking for other reasons. Many big, well known tobacco companies like RJ Reynolds
are being sued for their advertisements. On Monday April 20th, 1998 the jury heard a testimony from
Lynn Beasly, the marketing vice president of the RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company. The courts believed
that the advertisement was directed towards children under the age of 18, due to a document from the
RJ Reynolds Board of Directors showing that they set a goal to increase the company s market share

Smokers have almost twice the risk of having coronary heart disease as nonsmokers. Smokers risk of
getting lung cancer is approximately 14 times than that of nonsmokers. It has taken many years for
tobacco products deadly effects to be scientifically documented. Tobacco companies spend
approximately $14 million a day on advertising. Students who own cigarette promotional items are
more than four times more likely to begin smoking, compared to those who do not own these items.
Eighty six percent of people between 12 and 17 years old who smoke prefer the three most heavily
advertised brands. Only about one third of adult smokers choose these brands. Almost ninety percent
of adult smokers began at or before age 18. A recent study showed that thirty four percent of teens
began smoking as a result of the tobacco company s promotional activities. Tobacco companies loose
3,000 5,000 customers each day, more than 1,000 die from using tobacco as intended, the rest die of
other causes. The tobacco industry targets 1.63 million new smokers a year to compensate for those
that quit or die. The average age of new smokers in the United States right now is 12. Since the 1980s,
big tobacco companies have supported a number of efforts to reduce youth access to cigarettes at
retail. Thirty percent of teens that smoke say that they were able to obtain cigarettes from retail stores.

Headlines Sylvia Plath
Esther has seen or done many things that represent her and show how she has affected those around
her. Although there are many other examples, the headlines Joan mentions in chapter 16 are a prime
example of how Esther has affected people even those who are strangers. The headlines symbolize
Esther s exposure to the world and her impact on them. Plath developed the headlines by using Joan to
be the person to show them to Esther and explain to her how she had heard of her while she was gone.
Esther thinks that she is very secluded from the rest of the world and she only sees the pain and
darkness in her story. But what she does not see is that she is very exposed to the world and that other
people see a sensual story of a young woman who struggles to be herself. After Esther reads the
headlines she finally realizes this. She realizes that she inspires others and that maybe she can inspire
herself too. Maybe to even better herself and finally break free from society. Although Plath does not
gradually develop the headlines throughout the story, she still manages to make it a meaningful and
important symbol. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

says she was inspired to go to New York to attempt suicide after hearing about Esther s story.

would be in the news like Esther. The headlines show Esther that what she see can be interpreted in a

Urban Planning Models
Talen has been trying hard to build them a theory and has written many articles and books on the
subject. But their lack of theory leads to a malleability within New Urbanism, that helps suspend their
stated principles of diversity and affordability when they are not feasible, and perpetuates a dogma
about the effects of the built environment.
Similar to urban planners of the past new urbanist believe in their own expertise. June Thomas writes
about the failures of different urban planning models to include justice but still believes in their
intentions and role in building the best community. Thomas (2005) writes, about the tenacity of urban
planners. She states, in spite of false steps and inadequate tools, in spite of political turmoil and social
upheaval, local efforts continued. At no time during this half century did such efforts stop, although
sometimes they slowed and became practically invisible. Someone was always trying to plan and
develop a better city, and someone always will, for the foreseeable future (Thomas, 2005: 221)
Even as Thomas writes about the failures of urban planning to act justly in a racist society she still
centers the role of professionals to create a better city. It may be true that urban planning will always
seek to build a better place for people to live. However, the real question is who will that city be for
and whose interests will it serve.
Holston (1998) writes that urban planning has always been for those who fit neatly into the

John Calhoun s Protective Tariffs
John Calhoun started off his career in politics as a supporter of a strong national government and
protective tariffs. He became Jackson s vice president in 1828, and supported Jackson in nationalism
and the American system. However, a bitter feud between Jackson and Calhoun emerged. As Secretary
of War back in 1818 for President Monroe, Calhoun wanted to punish Jackson for the incursion into
Florida that he lead, and Calhoun had every right too; Jackson disobeyed the orders he was given!
Jackson despised Calhoun because of that and Calhoun realized that he was slowly losing favor with
Jackson. He had hopes of succeeding Jackson as president but Van Buren seemed to have a better
chance of being the next successor. Now at the time, the Tariff

Gluteal Region Research Paper
The gluteal region is an anatomical area located posteriorly to the pelvic girdle, at the proximal end of
the femur. The muscles in this region move the lower limb at the hip joint. The gluteal muscle is
composed of three muscles that make up the buttocks: Gluteus Maximus, Gluteus Medius, and
Gluteus Minimus. They are supplied by the gluteal nerves and vessels, which reach them through the
greater sciatic foramen. The gluteus maximus is the largest of the gluteal muscles and one of the

Black Spiderman Music Video Analysis
Black Spiderman Music Video Analysis
It s fascinating to see all the various interpretations there are about movies, books, shows, ads, and
music videos. A humorous joke to someone might be the most offensive insult another person has ever
heard. For example, one might be watching a comedy show and suddenly a man is telling a woman to
shut up and make him a sandwich. The male audience will generally find it hilarious. However, the
viewers who just so happen to be women might not be so keen on the sexist remark. It is crucial to
recognize the messages behind the media we see and whether one ought to be upholding them or not.
In the music video for Black Spiderman; Logic has Damian dress up as Spiderman which signifies:
black people deserve better roles in the media such as superheroes, it s important for black kids to
have representation, and overall, it s refreshing to see a whole new different perspective.
For starters, black people should be given more positive roles rather than always being portrayed
negatively by playing the typical: thug, gangster, rude, or violent character. For the most part, what the
public is shown on their screens stays engraved in their heads. This eventually projects in their words
and actions. Therefore, seeing black people frequently act out as problematic characters can be
harmful as to how society genuinely perceives African Americans in real life. It puts inaccurate
notions into people s minds which can unfortunately lead to racism. It s

Broken Memories, Broken People, Broken Dreams This narrative text is based off the film The
Sapphires set in Australia in the 1960s. In The Sapphires we see a flashback of Kay s childhood and
how she is part of the Stolen Generation. I will use this storyline as the starting point for my diary
entries. The film gave me background knowledge on Stolen Generation and their experiences they
faced. However, I need to know extra information so I will do further research about the Stolen

Corruption Within Aggressive Goals Of Macbeth By William...
Corruption within Aggressive Goals Everybody has ambitions; some will create or find ways to
achieve their goals. Most will be legitimate in achieving their own goals that require little ambition,
but people who achieve aggressive goals will be achieved with dishonesty, or the will to achieve it
without caring what happens to anyone along the way. People like this include one who wants to be a
king of some sort, a kingpin or even the ability to survive. People who achieve aggressive goals tend
to disconnect themselves from their own sense of morality. In the book Macbeth, written by the
famous Shakespeare displays how a character named Macbeth betrays all of his morals, becomes
corrupt and insane after becoming king. Macbeth was a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He goes slightly insane because he hallucinated a dagger before killing Duncan, and because he had
just killed The King. At this point in the story, he is no longer morally aware of himself and acts
without second thought; he ends up killing anyone who he thinks may suspect him for the murder. He
suspects Banquo of knowing his actions and kills him, but when Macbeth holds a banquet to celebrate
him being king, he sees Banquo s ghost, and becomes absolutely mental. He is no longer morally
aware of himself because he wouldn t have killed Duncan to become king, or kill Banquo just because
he suspected him of knowing his crimes if he was truly aware of his actions. The three witches and
Lady Macbeth played a key role into influencing Macbeth to achieve his goal of being king, through
illegitimate actions. The ambitions of achieving a goal like becoming king can sometimes turn into a
primary thought instead of keeping yourself morally aware. Another type of king, a Kingpin is also an
aggressive goal that will disconnect you from your morals. An example of this of this Kingpin, is Tony
Montana played by Al Pacino, from the movie Scarface, directed by Brian De Palma. In this movie,
Tony is a political prisoner sent to the United States after Fidel Castro sent him. Tony and his partner

Views Of Secular Humanism
What is Secular Humanism? It is humanism, with regard to the belief that humanity is capable of
morality and self fulfillment without belief in God. Christian worldviews are based on the bible, we
believe that God created the all. Secular Humanist are critical thinkers, focused on modern beliefs
without having any religious ties. Many Christians and proponents of secular humanism share a
commitment to reason, free inquiry, the separation of church and state, the ideal of freedom, and moral
education; however, they differ in many areas. Secular humanists base their morality and ideas about
justice on critical intelligence unaided by Scripture, which Christians rely on for knowledge
concerning right and wrong, good and evil. (3)
1. The Question ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When it comes to the question of origin, Christianity and Humanism have opposites beliefs. Christians
believe that God is the creator of the universe and all living things. Humanist believes that there is a
scientific reason for our creation.
2. The Question of Identity:
i. Secular Humanist believe that humans evolved from apelike ancestors. To the secularist, we are
nothing more than an advanced animal (Weider
Gutierrez, 2011, p. 57), or a bunch of cells and atoms. ii. Christians believe God created humans in his
image and likeness. Humans are lower than the angels but above all living things. For Humanist,
Humans are simply part of evolution and that life is not sacred. We as humans do not have meaning
but in the eyes of a Christian, we are part of God s greatest creation.
3. The Question of Meaning/Purpose (What is humanity s purpose?)
i. According to the Third Humanist Manifesto, meaning and purpose in life is found in forming
relationships, bettering society, and bettering oneself ( Humanism..., 2003). Noebel (2008), however,
revealed another goal of secular humanists: to wage war against Christianity in the education system
and political area and replace it their own man centered philosophies.Compare and contrast this with
how the biblical worldview would answer this question.

Tim Burton s Work As A Director
Tim Burton is well known for his work as a director. He has been nominated for several awards.
Among these are; two Oscars, one Golden Globe, five Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and
Horror Films, and several Hugo Awards (Tim Burton Awards). Besides being a director of many of
Hollywood s greatest films, he is also an accomplished illustrator, painter, screenwriter, and producer.
From his early days at The California Institute of Arts, to his current film projects, Burton has always
had an ability to transfer his perceptions in to a visual medium. His visual style is often a mix of
fantasy, Gothic, and horror (Tim Burton Bio A E). Timothy Walter Burton was born in the shadow of
the Hollywood Hills in Burbank, California, on August 25, 1958. He grew up the son of seemingly
distant parents who were also a bit odd. His father, who was injured early in his career as a
professional baseball player, worked for the City of Burbank Sports Department. His mother owned a
cat themed gift shop (for cats) called Cats Plus. Burton s room had two large windows that overlooked
the yard, but his parents boarded them up (Pringle). My parents covered the windows in my bedroom
for insulation, with a little slit at the top to let in light. I ve always related to Edgar Allen Poe, who
wrote several stories about being buried alive. I always felt a dark unhappiness permeating the air in
their house (Fraga 167). Oddly enough, one of the staples of his films, there is usually an overly

To What Extent Did Joseph Mccarthy And His Anti- Communist...
The purpose of this investigation is to examine the question To what extent did Joseph McCarthy and
his anti communist tactics have an impact on United States society? I will cover how things in the
society has changed. McCarthyism also affected domestic and foreign policies, but I am going to
focus on American society. I will focus mainly the years around the McCarthy era which is 1950
through 1954. To help examine my topic, I will be using two books. The books are Defining moments:
McCarthyism and the Communist Threat and Joe McCarthy and McCarthyism: The hate that haunts
America The two sources will be valuable because they give a deep understanding of what happened
during the years 1950 through 1954. This books is one of Omnigraphics Defining Moments books.
Kevin Hillstrom, the author, has written many other books, including books about history. This also
shows this source is valuable because Omnigraphics has a lot of other Defining Moment books that
are about history.
The first source, Defining moments: McCarthyism and the communist Threat, by Kevin Hillstrom, is a
secondary source and was published in 2011. Books Kevin Hillstrom wrote and edited has received
awards. He not only wrote books about history, he also covered topics about environmental issues and
culture. Although the book itself is a secondary source, it contains primary sources. There are also
biographies people wrote about Joseph McCarthy and other who were associated with McCarthyism.

Technologies, and world renowned IGT, along with a small selection of titles from the Ontario Lottery
and Gaming Corporation, Canadian lottery tickets can also be purchased directly through PlayOLG
too. The reason for why the casino took so long to get up and running was because it was being
selective in the location base and what technologies would fit in with government operated gambling
standards. Since its inception players have shown their support by registering in high numbers, while
revenue figures show that the casino was worth the wait and it is only getting better with age.

My First Job At The Whale s Tale Ice Cream
I gained valuable work experience and specialized skills at various jobs while attending junior school ,
high school and community college. Each job took me out of my comfort zone by meeting new people
whom had different ethics, work experience, and financial backgrounds than my own. My first job
was at The Whale s Tale Ice Cream Shop in the Hamptons, an exclusive vacation destination in New
York. The following summer I put in an application at the Vine Street Cafe which is a high end
restaurant in the Hamptons. That same summer I worked in the morning shift as a busboy for the
Chequit Inn. From this experience I learned that hard work and dedication are key factors to being
successful. Those principles have helped me excel at each job I ve

Who Is Abraham Lincoln The Best President
The best U.S President is Abraham Lincoln because he did his best to free all the slaves of the
Confederate states or better known as the South. Lincoln was famous for his actions against civil
injustice and passed a law called the Emancipation Proclamation. Also, Lincoln lead the Union army
against the Confederates in the Civil War. Once the Civil War ended he never stopped trying to fight
for all African American rights.
I believe that Abraham Lincoln is the best United States President because once he won the election of
1860, he caused some chaos in the southern states. He became unpopular to some but he stayed
focused and determined. Lincoln, while in office wanted to change the world by trying to give slaves:

Comparing Lang s Nineteen Eighty-Four And Metropolis
Texts often reflect upon problems faced by a society, it the time of the texts creation. Nineteen Eighty
Four by George Orwell and Metropolis by Fritz Lang take the social context of their time to deliver a
warning to society. Through their deliverance of their messages, they explore the impact of oppression
and rebellion and how that has an impact on society, as well as, introspectively. The puppet in Image 1
is being oppressed by the hand, this is shown through the manipulation of colours and characters.
Isolation and oppression are emphasised by contrasting the colour between the hand, the puppet and
the red string. The hand is perceived with an ominous aura due to its grey colour but also how it
protrudes from the darkness in an unnatural position. Since the hand appears from the darkness it
seems untrustworthy and malicious, furthermore, the unnatural position that it rests in gives it a
controlling aura. Alternatively, the puppet is seen as innocent. A wooden puppet cannot think for itself,
thus, the hand is obviously controlling it. The macabre situation is accented by the red strings which
link the puppet and the hand. Red is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Allusion creates a means for Lang to convey the message without enraging German society in 1927. It
has also contributed to the success of the movie because the symbolism is still recognisable and
relevant. Joh Fredersen represents God, he is concerned about what the workers will do if they do not
fear him. However, his son, Freder, is what joins together Joh and the Workers. Thus, Freder is a
Christ like figure. The workers are representative of the people on Earth who are working to try and
get to heaven. The rebellion is caused by machine Maria who is the epitome of sin which then leads to
the flooding of the workers city, which is much like the great flood. Thus, allusion helps to convey the
intensity of the oppression and rebellion in

Franklin D Roosevelt Argumentative Essay
Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the 32nd president of the United States and ended up serving 12 years
from 1933 until his death in 1945. He was born on January 30, 1882 in the state of New York as the
only child of the marriage between James Roosevelt, 54, and Sara Delano Roosevelt, 22 (Pearce, 2).
His mother was extremely protective of her only child, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt received no
formal education until he was age 14 (Pearce, 6) when he attended the Groton School (Pearce, 15),
which was a boarding school for boys of well off families who were being set up to go off to elite
colleges such as Harvard, where Franklin Delano Roosevelt would ultimately attend college (Pearce,

His fifth cousin, Theodore Roosevelt, was the president of the United States while Roosevelt was in
Harvard and was a major hero of Franklin. Franklin Delano would eventually marry Theodore s niece,
Eleanor, who was walked down the aisle by Theodore (Pearce, 55). Roosevelt would also briefly
attend Columbia University law school and go on to be a lawyer, a career which did not particularly
interest nor appeal to him (Franklin D. Roosevelt: Life before the Presidency). He would enter politics
as a Democrat in New York, but as a state senator, he often went against the Democratic establishment
of Tammany Hall and pushed for Progressive reforms. He would continue in New York politics, and
when the Great Depression struck in 1929, Roosevelt was the governor of New York. (Franklin D.
Roosevelt: Life Before the Presidency). He would first try to help New York through the crisis before
moving to try and help the nation by going against Republican incumbent Herbert Hoover in the
election of 1932. Although Roosevelt won all four elections against all four Republican candidates he
ran against, this election was most likely one of the easiest, as Herbert Hoover was extremely
unpopular; Roosevelt won the Electoral College 472:59 and the popular vote

Forensic Technique
In forensic science, corpses from various homicides are different. There are both complete and
incomplete corpses, depending on the causes of death or the forms of homicide. For example, some
corpses are cut into pieces, some are camouflaged by dumping into the river, some are buried, some
are burned to destroy the evidence, and others. If the corpses are incomplete, it can lead to the
difficulty of personally identifying because some tissues and bones are destroyed.
To specify the gender of the corpses from skeletal remains, the most precise method is DNA
identification. However, this method is costly and takes longer, so the other identification techniques
are used instead. The first technique that is widely used is considering the features of the bones. In
general, an evidence from the corpses such as some pieces of bones, especially the skull and pelvis
can be used to identify their gender. To use this technique, the forensic scientists require the
observation skills in order to classify the difference between male and female bones (see Figure 1 and
2 [1]). Although this technique is uncomplicated, saving time and cost, and the forensic scientists can
fairly accurately determine the gender by using this technique (apparently an accuracy rate of 90% or
more), the crucial disadvantage is there are some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The advantage of this method is it can be used in several positions in one piece of bones, and it can be
used even if the bones are not complete. To improve the gender specifying by using this technique, we
will apply the classification and cluster analysis (Kth Nearest Neighbor Classification, Classification
Tree, Ward Linkage cluster, K mean Cluster, Two Step Cluster) with the variables from skeletal
measurements in order to determine gender, and we will compare the performance of both methods by
considering the apparent error rate

Essay on Federal Disaster Planning and Relief
This paper will discuss information on the federal disaster planning and relief program, and explain
how the program raises issues of federalism, and the pros and cons from two perspectives. Disaster
planning is the development and documenting of a plan that will allow an organization to recover
from a catastrophic event. It should include procedures that are appropriate to the function and size of
the business (Bucki, J.) As where disaster relief is the services or monies available to individuals,
families, and communities who have suffered from some form of a catastrophic disaster such as:

How Disaster Planning and Relief Raise Issues of Federalism The American form of Federalism has
been argued as one of the main challenges to an effective response. For instance, conflicting goals
may create tension between different levels of government agencies, local authorities may be reluctant
to turn responsibilities over for dealing with the emergency to federal and state entities, and there may
be various degrees and forms of collaboration (Schneck, D. 2009). Issues with federalism surfaced
within several contexts in 2005, for instance, The REAL ID Act, federal requirements associated with
Temporary Aid to Needy Families reauthorization, the Terri Schiavo case, state and local government
opposition to the No Child Left behind Act, and senate confirmation hearings for Chief Justice John
Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito, and the delayed and poorly coordinated intergovernmental response
to Hurricane Katrina and Rita also generated debate in Congress, and among academics and the
general public as to the appropriate federal, state, and local roles in responding to emergencies
(Schneck, D. 2009). There has also been occasions where issues of federalism have crossed paths in
article form with emergency management and

The Role Of Identity In S. Morgenstern s The Princess Bride
What if? A question that many people find themselves asking. What if someone read Lord of The
Rings instead of Harry Potter? Would they be attempting to learn Elvish instead of learning magic
spells? In life, there are choices that have to be made. One or the other. The same applies to literature.
For example, The Princess Bride, by S. Morgenstern. Readers of this novel may begin to ask
themselves this very question. What if Westley did not reveal his identity to Buttercup when he fell
down the ravine? How would this affect the remainder of the story? There are so many different ways
that the story could have gone if the author had changed when Westley revealed his true identity.
There are so many times and places where it would be logical for him to uncover his disguise, but it is
up to the imagination to decide on the best way. S. Morgenstern in his work, The Princess Bride,
demonstrates the ability to change by allowing the reader to modify his story with their own creative
thoughts. In order to have several different outcomes to the story, someone must first take out the
original written portion where Westley reveals his identity to Buttercup. After someone mentally
erases everything that happened after Westley fell down the ravine, they can now think of all of the
different possible outcomes. In the text, it states, Words followed her. Whispered from far, weak and
warm and familiar. As... you... wish...(185). This is the original point in which he shows her his true
identity. Now, what if he had fallen down the steep hill and said nothing? Based on Buttercup s
instinct for survival and her powerful characteristics, one could assume that as soon as her attacker
was no longer able to harm her, she would try her best to find her way back to safety. She made no
effort to not consistently explain to all four of her assailants that her Prince would find and save her no
matter how long it took, and knowing this, one would assume that she would wait for her Prince as
long as she needed to. However, the main plot of the story revolves around murder and suicide, so
Buttercup would either die from suicide, or be murdered by Prince Humperdinck on their wedding
night depending on what horrible

The Black Cat And The Fall Of The House Of Usher
There are a multitude of purposes for gothic literary elements to be used within fictional stories. The
interconnectedness of the elements such as a fascination with the past leading to isolation or the
presence of the supernatural causing someone to obtain a fear of the unknown allows Gothicism as a
whole to span over a wide range of effects within a story. In many cases, gothic elements are used to
either prove or disprove the innate evil of humankind or the circumstances of which they live
amongst. Similarly, Edgar Allen Poe s The Black Cat and The Fall of the House of Usher, as well as
Gillian Flynn s Sharp Objects can be related in that each story uses the gothic elements of
psychological issues and violence to further enhance the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After some investigation, Camille uncovers that the death of her younger sister, Marian, was due to
her mother poisoning her in order to make people see her as a selfless, innocent woman, who did
nothing but care for her children. It can be inferred from the development of the plot that Adora s
strange mental case of Munchausen by Proxy(MBP), in which she harms her own children to gain
sympathetic attention, can be correlated entirely to the reason Camille has been self harming herself
by cutting words onto her body since she was a teenager. The fact that every time people said
[Camille] was pretty, [she] thought of everything ugly swarming beneath [her] clothes (Flynn 150)
emphasizes the severity of Camille s psychological issues; she refuses to see herself as beautiful after
everything that has been done to harm her. Realizing that being back within the noxious atmosphere of
Wind Gap was swinging her back into having continuously ugly thoughts as she did in her past,
Camille began to not only investigate violence, but dream of it as well. For example, she once tells of
a violent dream in which Adora had cut [her] open and was unpacking [her] organs, stacking them in a
row on [her] bed as [her] flesh flapped to either side. She was sewing her initials into eat of them, then
tossing them back into [Camille], along with a passel of forgotten objects (Flynn 150). The grotesque
quality of this dream further enhances the gothic nature of the story, while

Research Paper On Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia: The Middle East The Middle East is by no means a westernized area of the world;
however there are staple factors that make it seem democratized. Its legitimacy weary, the Middle East
is fantastic at growing its governments based on the Medina Constitution. However, there is one
particular area of the world that is both deeply religiously rooted and contemporary at the same time.
Saudi Arabia has created the impossible through economic, political, and social legitimacy that not
only defies western ideology but is accepted as the most modern version of the Middle East using their
economic and religious legitimacy. It can be described as a single tribe full of all chiefs and no Indians

justifying military conquests by the religious belief that it was the duty of all true Wahhabis to carry

Essay On The Shawshank Redemption
During the final sequence of The Shawshank Redemption, Frank Darabont, the director, used
dialogue, symbolism and different camera techniques to create meaning for the viewer. These
techniques helped to portray the idea of hope, freedom and determination, through the scenes. They
built tension, keeping the viewers interest, and showed admiration in the relationship between Red and
Andy. The first of these techniques, dialogue, was largely used by Darabont, in the form of a voice
over. It was used throughout the entire film, but the director s use of non diagetic dialogue when Andy
was escaping brought emotion and left the viewer to think. When Red said, Andy Dufresne, who

One of these, Norton, the warden at Shawshank, found his own freedom by killing himself in the final
sequence of the film. Darabont combined a series of low angle shots throughout the film to develop
the strong, intimidating presence Norton had over the prisoners. Even when he was being corrupt, we
saw the warden from a low angle. For example, we see him like this when he is outside, talking to
Tommy before he is shot. The camera use keeps Norton looking superior, even when he had planned
the murder of one of the inmates. Nothing of what he is doing is superior, but the director continued to
give this impression. It built Norton s character, making the viewer believe that what he was doing
was okay. Although we saw the corrupt things that Norton did, it didn t seem bad. This was because of
the low camera shots that Darabont decided to use. Nothing Norton did seemed terrible, when if
anyone else did it, it would be disgusting. The low angle shots made the viewer believe that Norton
was so superior, that everything he did was right. Even after Andy had escaped and the police were
knocking on the office door, Norton was seen through the same low angle shot. This didn t change
until he had pulled the trigger on the gun, and killed himself. Frank Darabont used a high angle shot
for the first time on Norton, after he was dead. This finally showed the viewer his true personality,
when Norton didn t have the

proposed by an interface of boost converter, interleaved converter and inverter as an integrated circuit.
An inverter/converter circuit is designed in such a way so as to operate or control the HEV during
different modes of operation. The integrated circuit in HEV will operate as a boost converter or
interleaved converter depending on the load condition. The proposed integrated circuit will reduce the
current ripple and voltage ripple hence it will leads to reduction in switching, conduction losses, and
thermal stress on the motor. The effectiveness of proposed integrated circuit is simulated in MATLAB/

Marriage and Twelfth Night
At the end of Shakespeare s comedic plays all complications and disorders are resolved and a new
order is generated to the satisfaction of the audience. to what extent is this true of Shakespeare s
Twelfth Night?
It is easily argued that Shakespeare s comedic plays have a similar, formulaic, structure. Dr Schwartz
from the California Polytechnic State University argues that the action of a comedy traces a movement
from conflict to the resolution of conflict . There are many disorders and complications in each plot,
which by the end of the play must be resolved for the satisfaction of the Elizabethan audience, and in
some perspectives, this applies to the modern day audience as well. Twelfth Night poses many

Antonio is a character whom it could be argued does not receive a happy ending. It is easily identified
by particularly modern audiences, that Antonio is a character who may have homosexual desires. The
language used in: my desire, more sharp than steel, did spur me on could be interpreted as rather
lustful especially the words sharper than steel which suggests sexual imagery. This circumstance of
mistaken identity, when Antonio is in trouble and mistakes Cesario for Sebastian, for some audiences
leans more towards tragedy than comedy because the consequences are more severe. We see how
betrayed Antonio feels in the line how vile an idol proves his god! Antonio worshipped Sebastian like
an idol, and relieved him with such sanctity of love , only to discover he is the beauteous evil . The
audience may feel pity towards Antonio; this is something they will want resolved. It can be argued
this does happen when Sebastian returns. This may have been a good enough resolution for an
Elizabethan audience, as many of them will have had no desire to see a homosexual pairing, and
perhaps Sebastian s marriage to Olivia would leave them satisfied that no homoerotic acts occur. The
question to Antonio s happiness never seems to be resolved,

  • 2. Wheelhead s Role In The Hydrosphere The continuous change of carbon in the universe eventually leads back to itself. In this story, a carbon atom, named wheelhead, goes through this cycle without even realizing it. Wheelhead started in a plant biosphere contained in a tree, but not any tree, the hardwood of a pinyon pine. Wheelhead was here for millions of years as a part of this tree. Natural processes struck Wheelhead, like it had thousands of times before, and buried him in a landslide. Over time, the compression of Wheelhead and his similar carbon atoms, resulted in the formation of Wheelhead into coal. Wheelhead thought of the old times where he remembered being part of a tree. For 62 years he dreamt of one day returning to a tree. While he would not become a tree, Wheelhead did get some of what he wanted. Wheelhead was absorbed by a plant once again, but instead of being rudely eaten by a deer, he was able to be a part of this plant comfortably until he decayed into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I am now going to enter into the second stage of Gibbs (1988) model of reflection, which is a discussion about my thoughts and feelings. I was aware of being under the supervision of two qualified nurses and this made me feel very nervous and self conscious. Once my mentor questioned my practice, concerning skin cleansing, I became even more aware of feeling nervous and under pressure. The patient was present and I did not want the patient to feel that I did not know what I was doing. I thought that as I had been observed carrying out this clinical procedure on many other occasions then my practice must have been seen to be correct. I was now feeling very confused about the use of alcohol wipes in the administration of IM injection. I was also concerned that the practice of the qualified nurses was so inconsistent, which led me to evaluate the whole process. Evaluation is the third stage of Gibbs (1988) model of reflection and requires the reflector to with state what was good and bad about the event. I was aware that research by Workman (1999) suggests that the use of skin cleansing wipes is inconsistent and not necessary in IM injections if the patient appears to be physically clean ... There is the idea that young children that smoke started smoking because of advertisements, but there is also the idea that children start smoking for other reasons. Although there are many other examples, the headlines Joan mentions in chapter 16 are a prime example of how Esther has affected people even those who are strangers. The headlines symbolize Esther s exposure to the world and her impact on them. Plath developed the headlines by using Joan to be the person to show them to Esther and explain to her how she had heard of her while she was gone. Esther thinks that she is very secluded from the rest of the world and she only sees the pain and darkness in her story. But what she does not see is that she is very exposed to the world and that other people see a sensual story of a young woman who struggles to be herself. After Esther reads the headlines she finally realizes this. She realizes that she inspires others and that maybe she can inspire herself too. But their lack of theory leads to a malleability within New Urbanism, that helps suspend their stated principles of diversity and affordability when they are not feasible, and perpetuates a dogma about the effects of the built environment. Similar to urban planners of the past new urbanist believe in their own expertise. June Thomas writes about the failures of different urban planning models to include justice but still believes in their intentions and role in building the best community. Thomas (2005) writes, about the tenacity of urban planners. She states, in spite of false steps and inadequate tools, in spite of political turmoil and social upheaval, local efforts continued. At no time during this half century did such efforts stop, although sometimes they slowed and became practically invisible. Someone was always trying to plan and develop a better city, and someone always will, for the foreseeable future (Thomas, 2005: 221) Even as Thomas writes about the failures of urban planning to act justly in a racist society she still centers the role of professionals to create a better city. It may be true that urban planning will always seek to build a better place for people to live. However, the real question is who will that city be for and whose interests will it serve. A humorous joke to someone might be the most offensive insult another person has ever heard. For example, one might be watching a comedy show and suddenly a man is telling a woman to shut up and make him a sandwich. The male audience will generally find it hilarious. However, the viewers who just so happen to be women might not be so keen on the sexist remark. It is crucial to recognize the messages behind the media we see and whether one ought to be upholding them or not. In the music video for Black Spiderman; Logic has Damian dress up as Spiderman which signifies: black people deserve better roles in the media such as superheroes, it s important for black kids to have representation, and overall, it s refreshing to see a whole new different perspective. For starters, black people should be given more positive roles rather than always being portrayed negatively by playing the typical: thug, gangster, rude, or violent character. For the most part, what the public is shown on their screens stays engraved in their heads. This eventually projects in their words and actions. People like this include one who wants to be a king of some sort, a kingpin or even the ability to survive. • 28. Franklin D Roosevelt Argumentative Essay Franklin Delano Roosevelt was the 32nd president of the United States and ended up serving 12 years from 1933 until his death in 1945. He was born on January 30, 1882 in the state of New York as the only child of the marriage between James Roosevelt, 54, and Sara Delano Roosevelt, 22 (Pearce, 2). His mother was extremely protective of her only child, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt received no formal education until he was age 14 (Pearce, 6) when he attended the Groton School (Pearce, 15), which was a boarding school for boys of well off families who were being set up to go off to elite colleges such as Harvard, where Franklin Delano Roosevelt would ultimately attend college (Pearce, 38). His fifth cousin, Theodore Roosevelt, was the president of the United States while Roosevelt was in Harvard and was a major hero of Franklin. Franklin Delano would eventually marry Theodore s niece, Eleanor, who was walked down the aisle by Theodore (Pearce, 55). Roosevelt would also briefly attend Columbia University law school and go on to be a lawyer, a career which did not particularly interest nor appeal to him (Franklin D. Roosevelt: Life before the Presidency). He would enter politics as a Democrat in New York, but as a state senator, he often went against the Democratic establishment of Tammany Hall and pushed for Progressive reforms. He would continue in New York politics, and when the Great Depression struck in 1929, Roosevelt was the governor of New York. (Franklin D. Roosevelt: Life Before the Presidency). He would first try to help New York through the crisis before moving to try and help the nation by going against Republican incumbent Herbert Hoover in the election of 1932. Although Roosevelt won all four elections against all four Republican candidates he ran against, this election was most likely one of the easiest, as Herbert Hoover was extremely unpopular; Roosevelt won the Electoral College 472:59 and the popular vote ... • 29. Forensic Technique In forensic science, corpses from various homicides are different. There are both complete and incomplete corpses, depending on the causes of death or the forms of homicide. For example, some corpses are cut into pieces, some are camouflaged by dumping into the river, some are buried, some are burned to destroy the evidence, and others. If the corpses are incomplete, it can lead to the difficulty of personally identifying because some tissues and bones are destroyed. To specify the gender of the corpses from skeletal remains, the most precise method is DNA identification. However, this method is costly and takes longer, so the other identification techniques are used instead. The first technique that is widely used is considering the features of the bones. In general, an evidence from the corpses such as some pieces of bones, especially the skull and pelvis can be used to identify their gender. To use this technique, the forensic scientists require the observation skills in order to classify the difference between male and female bones (see Figure 1 and 2 [1]). Although this technique is uncomplicated, saving time and cost, and the forensic scientists can fairly accurately determine the gender by using this technique (apparently an accuracy rate of 90% or more), the crucial disadvantage is there are some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The advantage of this method is it can be used in several positions in one piece of bones, and it can be used even if the bones are not complete. To improve the gender specifying by using this technique, we will apply the classification and cluster analysis (Kth Nearest Neighbor Classification, Classification Tree, Ward Linkage cluster, K mean Cluster, Two Step Cluster) with the variables from skeletal measurements in order to determine gender, and we will compare the performance of both methods by considering the apparent error rate ... Essay on Federal Disaster Planning and Relief This paper will discuss information on the federal disaster planning and relief program, and explain how the program raises issues of federalism, and the pros and cons from two perspectives. Disaster planning is the development and documenting of a plan that will allow an organization to recover from a catastrophic event. It should include procedures that are appropriate to the function and size of the business (Bucki, J.) As where disaster relief is the services or monies available to individuals, families, and communities who have suffered from some form of a catastrophic disaster such as: Floods Hurricanes Earthquakes Drought Tornadoes Riots (New World Encyclopedia) When these catastrophic disasters happen, an ... List of Catastrophic Disasters Hurricane Katrina Hurricane Rita 9/11 California Wildfires Midwest Floods How Disaster Planning and Relief Raise Issues of Federalism The American form of Federalism has been argued as one of the main challenges to an effective response. For instance, conflicting goals may create tension between different levels of government agencies, local authorities may be reluctant to turn responsibilities over for dealing with the emergency to federal and state entities, and there may be various degrees and forms of collaboration (Schneck, D. 2009). Issues with federalism surfaced within several contexts in 2005, for instance, The REAL ID Act, federal requirements associated with Temporary Aid to Needy Families reauthorization, the Terri Schiavo case, state and local government opposition to the No Child Left behind Act, and senate confirmation hearings for Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito, and the delayed and poorly coordinated intergovernmental response to Hurricane Katrina and Rita also generated debate in Congress, and among academics and the general public as to the appropriate federal, state, and local roles in responding to emergencies (Schneck, D. 2009). • 31. The Role Of Identity In S. Morgenstern s The Princess Bride What if? A question that many people find themselves asking. What if someone read Lord of The Rings instead of Harry Potter? Would they be attempting to learn Elvish instead of learning magic spells? In life, there are choices that have to be made. One or the other. The same applies to literature. For example, The Princess Bride, by S. Morgenstern. Readers of this novel may begin to ask themselves this very question. What if Westley did not reveal his identity to Buttercup when he fell down the ravine? How would this affect the remainder of the story? There are so many different ways that the story could have gone if the author had changed when Westley revealed his true identity. There are so many times and places where it would be logical for him to uncover his disguise, but it is up to the imagination to decide on the best way. S. Morgenstern in his work, The Princess Bride, demonstrates the ability to change by allowing the reader to modify his story with their own creative thoughts. In order to have several different outcomes to the story, someone must first take out the original written portion where Westley reveals his identity to Buttercup. After someone mentally erases everything that happened after Westley fell down the ravine, they can now think of all of the different possible outcomes. In the text, it states, Words followed her. Whispered from far, weak and warm and familiar. As... you... wish...(185). This is the original point in which he shows her his true identity. Now, what if he had fallen down the steep hill and said nothing? Based on Buttercup s instinct for survival and her powerful characteristics, one could assume that as soon as her attacker was no longer able to harm her, she would try her best to find her way back to safety. She made no effort to not consistently explain to all four of her assailants that her Prince would find and save her no matter how long it took, and knowing this, one would assume that she would wait for her Prince as long as she needed to. However, the main plot of the story revolves around murder and suicide, so Buttercup would either die from suicide, or be murdered by Prince Humperdinck on their wedding night depending on what horrible ... • 32. The Black Cat And The Fall Of The House Of Usher There are a multitude of purposes for gothic literary elements to be used within fictional stories. The interconnectedness of the elements such as a fascination with the past leading to isolation or the presence of the supernatural causing someone to obtain a fear of the unknown allows Gothicism as a whole to span over a wide range of effects within a story. In many cases, gothic elements are used to either prove or disprove the innate evil of humankind or the circumstances of which they live amongst. Similarly, Edgar Allen Poe s The Black Cat and The Fall of the House of Usher, as well as Gillian Flynn s Sharp Objects can be related in that each story uses the gothic elements of psychological issues and violence to further enhance the ... After some investigation, Camille uncovers that the death of her younger sister, Marian, was due to her mother poisoning her in order to make people see her as a selfless, innocent woman, who did nothing but care for her children. It can be inferred from the development of the plot that Adora s strange mental case of Munchausen by Proxy(MBP), in which she harms her own children to gain sympathetic attention, can be correlated entirely to the reason Camille has been self harming herself by cutting words onto her body since she was a teenager. The fact that every time people said [Camille] was pretty, [she] thought of everything ugly swarming beneath [her] clothes (Flynn 150) emphasizes the severity of Camille s psychological issues; she refuses to see herself as beautiful after everything that has been done to harm her. Realizing that being back within the noxious atmosphere of Wind Gap was swinging her back into having continuously ugly thoughts as she did in her past, Camille began to not only investigate violence, but dream of it as well. Essay On The Shawshank Redemption During the final sequence of The Shawshank Redemption, Frank Darabont, the director, used dialogue, symbolism and different camera techniques to create meaning for the viewer. These techniques helped to portray the idea of hope, freedom and determination, through the scenes. They built tension, keeping the viewers interest, and showed admiration in the relationship between Red and Andy. The first of these techniques, dialogue, was largely used by Darabont, in the form of a voice over. It was used throughout the entire film, but the director s use of non diagetic dialogue when Andy was escaping brought emotion and left the viewer to think. One of these, Norton, the warden at Shawshank, found his own freedom by killing himself in the final sequence of the film. Darabont combined a series of low angle shots throughout the film to develop the strong, intimidating presence Norton had over the prisoners. Even when he was being corrupt, we saw the warden from a low angle. For example, we see him like this when he is outside, talking to Tommy before he is shot. The camera use keeps Norton looking superior, even when he had planned the murder of one of the inmates. Nothing of what he is doing is superior, but the director continued to give this impression. It built Norton s character, making the viewer believe that what he was doing was okay. Although we saw the corrupt things that Norton did, it didn t seem bad. This was because of the low camera shots that Darabont decided to use. Nothing Norton did seemed terrible, when if anyone else did it, it would be disgusting. The low angle shots made the viewer believe that Norton was so superior, that everything he did was right. Even after Andy had escaped and the police were knocking on the office door, Norton was seen through the same low angle shot. This didn t change until he had pulled the trigger on the gun, and killed himself. Frank Darabont used a high angle shot for the first time on Norton, after he was dead. This finally showed the viewer his true personality, when Norton didn t have the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This paper shows Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor in Hybrid electrical vehicle is proposed by an interface of boost converter, interleaved converter and inverter as an integrated circuit. An inverter/converter circuit is designed in such a way so as to operate or control the HEV during different modes of operation. The integrated circuit in HEV will operate as a boost converter or interleaved converter depending on the load condition. The proposed integrated circuit will reduce the current ripple and voltage ripple hence it will leads to reduction in switching, conduction losses, and thermal stress on the motor. The effectiveness of proposed integrated circuit is simulated in MATLAB/ Simulink. The simulation shows that the integrated circuit have a high efficiency and can be used at high power application. After the surrender, the Japanese separated the troops into small groups of about 100 people and forced POW s to march a 65 mile journey into captivity in San Fernando where thousands more prisoners died because of starvation, disease and mistreatment. Along the way many POW s were treated poorly since there was a lack of food, water and resting time and the Japanese believed that soldier must die before surrender. It is easily argued that Shakespeare s comedic plays have a similar, formulaic, structure. Dr Schwartz from the California Polytechnic State University argues that the action of a comedy traces a movement from conflict to the resolution of conflict . It is easily identified by particularly modern audiences, that Antonio is a character who may have homosexual desires. The language used in: my desire, more sharp than steel, did spur me on could be interpreted as rather lustful especially the words sharper than steel which suggests sexual imagery. This circumstance of mistaken identity, when Antonio is in trouble and mistakes Cesario for Sebastian, for some audiences leans more towards tragedy than comedy because the consequences are more severe. We see how betrayed Antonio feels in the line how vile an idol proves his god! Antonio worshipped Sebastian like an idol, and relieved him with such sanctity of love , only to discover he is the beauteous evil . The audience may feel pity towards Antonio; this is something they will want resolved. It can be argued this does happen when Sebastian returns. This may have been a good enough resolution for an Elizabethan audience, as many of them will have had no desire to see a homosexual pairing, and perhaps Sebastian s marriage to Olivia would leave them satisfied that no homoerotic acts occur.
