Influence Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme of influence can be a challenging endeavor that requires a
thoughtful and nuanced approach. The difficulty lies in the broad scope of the topic, as influence
can manifest in various forms across different contexts. Whether exploring personal experiences,
historical events, or societal dynamics, the writer must navigate a vast landscape of possibilities.
One challenge is defining the parameters of influence and deciding which aspects to focus on
within the limited confines of an essay. Is it the impact of individuals on others, the sway of
cultural movements, or the ripple effects of significant events? Navigating this complexity
requires a clear thesis and a well-organized structure to convey the intended message effectively.
Moreover, the writer faces the task of striking a balance between depth and breadth. The topic's
depth necessitates thorough research and a comprehensive understanding of relevant theories
and examples. Yet, the constraints of essay length demand conciseness, forcing the writer to
make strategic choices about what to include and what to omit.
Furthermore, grappling with the moral and ethical dimensions of influence adds an additional
layer of difficulty. Addressing the potential for manipulation or the responsibility that comes
with wielding influence requires a nuanced and reflective approach. Striking the right tone is
crucial to avoid oversimplification or, conversely, getting lost in a sea of complex ethical
considerations.
Lastly, the challenge extends to engaging the reader. The essay must not only inform but also
captivate the audience's attention. Balancing intellectual rigor with accessibility is no small feat,
and finding a compelling narrative or argumentative thread can be a formidable task.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of influence demands a delicate interplay of
research, critical thinking, and effective communication. Success hinges on the writer's ability to
navigate the intricacies of the subject, providing a meaningful exploration while adhering to the
constraints of the assignment. The difficulty lies not only in the complexity of the topic but also
in the writer's skill in presenting a coherent and compelling narrative.

Global Warming, Effects Of Mother Nature By Koo From
Hawaii
This text will be examining 3 different scientific poems about global warming and
explore the beliefs of the writers compared to the writer of this text. This essay will
then explore how the different poem styles were used to target different audiences
and it will also examine the broader messages hidden in the poems.
What are we? is a poem written by Donovan from Hawaii. It is about global warming
and how humans are the culprits. The writer of this poem believes that global
warming is a very large threat to the human society. It can also be seen that they
believe that humans are the causes for causing global warming. These two points can
be easily seen in the poem in the following quotes. We are monster destroying Mother
Earth, and, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem is about how Nature is becoming sick. This poem talks about a few of
the effects that global warming is having on the environment. It also explores and
talks about how humans are the ones that need to fix up these problems. A few
examples of this can be found in the text of the poem. It will become hot, like a
steaming pot, and, Please Mother Nature don t come to an end because we will be
your friend. This shows clear evidence that the writer of the poem is concerned about
the fate of the Earth, and that humans are the people who need to do something about
it.
Global Warming is a poem written by Kira from Hawaii. This is a poem about
what is happening to the environment as well as being a call to arms. This poem
looks at how the Earth is being heated up by human intervention. It also looks at
how we as humans are too stubborn to change our ways, meaning we are putting
this world in danger. Examples of these can be found in the writing. Are we out of
control with our oil spills, and, The factories are not listening to what we have to say.
These quotes show that the author of this poem is thinking about how we as humans
need to work together to save the
The United States President Should Not Be Limited
Thesis: Should the United States President be Limited to the Terms of Service in
Office? In this paper, I will argue that the United States president should not be
limited to two terms in office. The rational for two terms has been to prevent abuse of
power. My argument is based on the benefits of unlimited presidential terms and the
hindrance of limited terms on the United States economy. An important element to
consider is the role democracy plays on presidential terms and elections. The respect
of human rights is a significant attribute in a democratic environment and economy.
Democracy allows the rights of citizens to be respected, such as an individual s
speech, religion or ethnicity. In a democratic economy every citizen has the... Show

In 1947 Senator Claude argued I think our people are to be safely trusted with their
own destiny. This is exactly what democracy gives the people of United States, a
sense of security that the power to select their leader is in their hands. If the people
are limited in how many terms the can elect a president, does that not defeat the
purpose of democracy? Or if anything conflicts with the sole aim of democracy
giving power to the people. Senator Claude also said We do not need to protect the
American people with a prohibition against a president whom they do not wish to
elect; and if they wanted to elect him, have we the right to deny them the power? The
answer to that statement should be no, because a democratic government should not
reflect any characteristics of a totalitarian government whatsoever. And denying the
people their wish who they wish to elect only reflects that. Why prevent a
presidential administration from reelection if the rate of effectiveness is high and
beneficial to the economy? When elected in to office each president brings for an
agenda, which is a list of adequacies to improve the country. Some Presidents
successfully accomplished their intended goal at the end of their presidential term,
some appear to be completely unsuccessful. And others leave the presidential office
with a completely effective plan that appears to die because they cannot recomplete

Essay The Chicano View on Mexican Immigration
During the 1970 s, Mexican Americans were involved in a large social movement
called the Chicano movement. Corresponding with the great development of the
black civil rights movement, Mexican Americans began to take part in a series of
different social protests in which they demanded equal rights for themselves.
Composed mainly of Mexican American students and youth, these activists focused
on maintaining a pride for their culture as well as their ethnicity to fuel their political
campaign. Left out of this campaign initially though were Mexican immigrants. As is
made clear in the writings of David Gutierrez, since the beginning of large amounts of
Mexican immigration, Mexican Americans have opposed supporting Mexican
immigrants.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This new identity automatically gave everyone something in common which in turn
made the group of activists stronger, and more identifiable as a whole. There was also
the Plan of Aztlan, where Aztlan (the area interpreted as lost territories that Mexico
surrendered to the United States after the United States Mexico war ended in 1848)
represented the symbolic territorial base of the Chicano people. The Plan of Aztlan
did something for the Chicanos that contradicted their previous belief that they
needed to get assimilated within the American society. If anything, Aztlan somewhat
diminished and rejected any connection Chicanos had with American culture and
society. Along with the changes within the movement, another momentum increasing
factor was the Cisneros case ruling that Mexican Americans constituted an identifiable
minority group ... and are entitled to special federal assistance (Gutierrez, 186). These
reformations of ideas and opinions all lead to a smaller movement within the Chicano
movement. Many of the activists were coming to the realization that Mexican
immigration was becoming a major civil rights controversy;
Effect of Mannose on Shoot Formation of Eplants
Results and Discussion Effect of mannose on shoot formation of explants As
pBCAMBIA PMI contains the pmi gene which confers mannose resistance, we used
the mannose as a selection agent in our transformation experiments. Nine different
concentrations and combinations of mannose and sucrose in shoot regeneration
medium were used to evaluate the effect of mannose on the organogenesis of non
transformed tobacco leaf explants (Fig. 2). After 3 weeks cultivation, we found that
no explants produced shoots on media without any tested carbon source (Fig. 2A).
When cultivated on 30 gl 1 sucrose (0/30), 100% of the tobacco leaf explants
regenerated. The organogenesis response decreased progressively when mannose
concentration was increased in the shoot regeneration medium. A decreasing
selectivity of mannose was also seen when 5 gl 1 sucrose was supplemented to the
selection medium. Results show that the inhibitory effects of mannose increases with
decreasing sucrose concentration in the medium, indicating an interaction between
mannose and sucrose (Fig. 3). Similar results were described by Sigareva et al. (2004)
in tomato as the addition of sucrose to the selection medium modulated the inhibitory
effect of mannose on shoot formation. Earlier studies pointed that the indirect toxic
effect of mannose caused by the conversion to mannose 6 phosphate by endogenous
hexokinase increases with decreasing sucrose concentration in the medium,
suggesting an interaction between mannose and
Sepsis Problem Statement
Sepsis is applied to an abnormal bodily condition when body reacts and function
against itself under the condition of infection. In this state body starts to make
injuries to its own organs and tissues. The symptoms of Sepsis may include
physical as well as psychological signs which may include increased heart rate,
increased breath rate, fever and psychological symptoms may include anxiety,
confusion and depression in some cases. Sepsis is a highly dangerous condition
and may lead to death in most of the cases if not properly treated or late treated.
However, sepsis may vary in its severity in some cases it induces abnormal bodily and
organs functions such low rate of blood flow, as low bodily temperature and poor
organ activities (Dellinger... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, seeing these effects of Sepsis, evidence based strategies have been put in effect.
Since 2004 evidence based practices are in force to restrict the wide and damaging
effects of Sepsis. In this manner, evidence based therapies are being use to make an
effective and timely response to this fatal conditions and its relative effects. Some
treatment methods based on researches have been recommended that are to be
implemented after the onset of symptoms. Evidence based educational and
management strategies have been present sine long period of time but, however,
these strategies have not attracted much attention and adherence (Levy et al,
Use Of Diction In The Other Wes Moore
Tram Nguyen AP English 2 August 2015 The Other Wes Moore: How Did You
Live? The author, Wes Moore, utilizes several rhetorical strategies to support his
purpose in the novel, The Other Wes Moore. The specific strategies the author uses
are diction, syntax, juxtaposition, and imagery. Wes and Wes s lives seemed to be
determined by who they met and got to know. The reasons for their fathers
absences and their source of guidance also seemed to affect their way of living. The
author s purpose seems to involve the influence people have on young people and
how it could change their lifestyle. Diction was one of the devices the author used to
support his purpose. The other Wes s father was a ghost since his birth . (Moore, 18)

When the author s father wanted his son s middle name to Wantende, meaning
revenge will not be sought , the author s mother stated that it sounded too big for a
small baby. (Moore, 7) Despite the name sounding too big for the him when he
was a baby, he d grow to be a big, strong guy. Also the meaning of the name seems
to be related to what happens later in the book, his father s death. He did not get
the help he needed, the doctors could ve done something but they didn t want to
spend their time to see what was going on. He came to the hospital all disheveled,
tired looking. Even though Wes s father s death was unjustified, Wes ended up in
the right path. He faced little bumps when he was younger, but in the end he did
the right thing with the help of his mother. When Wes was first sent to military
school, he wanted to escape the place. As years went by, the place grew on him.
One day, a few teens had threw something at him and told him to Go home, nigger!
and he sought for protection. (Moore, 120) He stated, The irony of the situation
forced me to smile... Years earlier, I had to run through these same woods with all
of my might, looking for safety, trying to get away from the campus. Tonight, I ran
through the same wood looking for safety, but in the other direction. (Moore, 122) It

Power In The Middle East
The region that the Western World views as the Middle East is laden with
complexities. In the region there is a long history of what is currently understood as
modernization. To parallel that, connected to the Middle East is also a history of
being understood as backward or behind in comparison to the West. It seems as if no
matter what the empires (now nation states), and the people, of the Middle Eastdo they
are constantly going to be relinquished to the other.
Global capitalism made its way into the Ottoman empire through a variety of
imperial, colonial, and personal sentiments. Imperial and colonial attitudes are the
most easily recognized. These processes involve expansion and often domination over
other areas, and empires. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Post colonization in the Middle East there have been numerous efforts by the West to
continue to assert their control. As is explained in A Clash of Civilizations there is
an expansion of specifically American control on global institutions, such as the U.N
to push human rights imperialism. Huntington write, countering the aforementioned
idea, the West in effect is using international institutions military power and economic
resources to run the world in ways that will maintain Western pre dominance, protect
Western interests and promote Western political and economic values (Huntington,
40). There is a rhetoric used, one that Said comments on, that maintains an otherness
of the Middle East. They are labeled the Orient, a place that is much greater in size
than the West world but that is held in tandem with them. Or, they are held as lesser
than the West. Beyond the direct colonization of the twentieth century, the entrance
of the Middle East into modernity allows judgements to be made on a global

Research Paper On The Great Bear
The Bear: the Hunted Protector Ask any child about constellations and they will
know about the star formation known as The Big Dipper . The stars that form this
asterism (Dubhe, Merak, Phecda, Megrez, Alioth, Mizar, and Alkaid) are the
brightest part of the constellation they make whole, Ursa Major: The Great Bear.
Although the constellation is certainly common enough to recognize, I hold a
more personal attachment to it. I grew up nearby a convent which owned a crest
marked with Ursa Major. The convent was a central root of the area, so the people
often had the crest and familiar Ursa Major constellation everywhere. When I look
into the night sky and see these familiar stars, they remind me of the people in the
area who became close family and friends. Like the bear it symbolized, this
constellation will always be like a mother bear protecting my sweet memories as if

In the tale, the bear is part of a great celestial hunt. According to the Micmac, the
bear s positions through the year are because the bear is running and fighting off the
hunters that follow it. During most of the months, the bear runs on four feet. Then,
in autumn when the stars are in different positions, the bear rears on two legs and a
hunter attacks it spraying the bear s blood on the trees. This is why the leaves
change colors in the fall. The hunters kill and eat the bear, but the skeleton still
remains on its back during the winter. Then, during the spring, a new bear comes out
of its den and, the hunt begins
Pulp Fiction Essay
Ethical Values in Pulp Fiction
Pulp fiction is a movie filled with drugs, violence, gambling, and pop iconography,
describing how real life society is going towards the death of god era; a life without
morals. A lot of movie critics would say that Jules (Samuel L. Jackson) and Vincent
(John Travolta) possess no ethical values, no sense of morality. They also say that the
movie does not convey a message. The movie does convey a message; Quentin
Tarantino just masks it behind the street savvy talk and murdering of persons who
wronged the boss. Pulp Fiction is about a world where cold blooded murder and
greed are socially acceptable. Virtues as Aristotle states are mainly based off of

Of course with greed being a main theme and Butch s survival of the fittest attitude
he gets a guy to bet on himself with as many bookies as he could and wins the
match, he also kills the opponent he faced and shows absolutely no remorse which
goes with the norm and theme in the movie; murder. Later on Butch is driving
back from getting his watch and sees Marsellus walking across the street which
leads to a chase scene into a pawn shop. This is where Tarantino does an interesting
thing, he introduces a greater threat, Zed and his brother, to fix the dispute
between Marsellus and Butch, this is also when Butch has his redemption/escape
moment. Marsellus is the first one to be taken to the back room while Butch is
tied up in the chair. Butch breaks free and can run away but decides to rescue
Marsellus; this is when Butch has his change of heart. He grabs the best weapon he
can find (a katana sword) to save Marsellus. Although Butch doesn t have a
monologue or anything about it, you realize he has escaped the morally wrong world
as well.
Vincent never makes the transformation that either of the characters previously
discussed made. In fact he completely denies the fact that those missed shots were a
divine intervention, he considers it a freak occurrence. Vincent like Butch was in the
beginning is filled with greed but Vincent also seems a little paranoid he thinks
killing is the only profession he would be able to do to make money. When Jules
Summary Of Epictetus The Handbook
In The Handbook , Epictetus provides a way of life a stoic should follow to be a
good member of the society, which is a life detached from things one cannot
change and focused instead on things that can be improved. For instance, he asked
people to care none about the way others would judge them as he quoted If anyone
tells you that such a person speaks ill of you, don t make excuses about what is
said of you, but answer: He does not know my other faults, else he would not have
mentioned only these. Through this quote, Epictetus wanted all stoics to know all
their faults better than anyone else can say about them. Hence, the person would
not be disturbed by the way the society view him or her as well as would be able to
control and fix... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, he quoted Don t be prideful with any excellence that is not your own.
If a horse should be prideful and say, I am handsome, it would be supportable. But
when you are prideful, and say, I have a handsome horse, know that you are proud
of what is, in fact, only the good of the horse. In this sentence, Epictetus wanted to
teach the stoics to learn to proud of only something they can achieve not
something they own. In fact, this idea helped create a better citizen who would not
become too conceited simply because of something valuable he or she had. Also, a
person would then focus more on how to achieve his or her own success, one
which this person could take pride in. Furthermore, Epictetus wanted the stoics to
put a higher goal before they choose to quit simply because of afraid: Aiming
therefore at such great things, remember that you must not allow yourself to be
carried, even with a slight tendency, towards the attainment of lesser things. In this
quote, Epictetus addressed those who aimed at too small an objective as well as
those who wanted to earn both a great thing and the small one. In fact, he saw a
person who know which goal he or she should aim for would probably achieve a
higher accomplishment and thus became a better member of the
Social Class And Social Work Essay
The purpose of this assignment is to Examine the extent to which social class
determines life chances in contemporary Britain, and explore the relevance of the
issue for students on a social work degree. Within this document I will identify and
explore key concepts and approaches in the sociological analysis of social
differentiation in modern society. I will then use these concepts and apply them to
contemporary britain in order to explain how social classinfluences an individual s
life chances. I will also discuss and examine the value of these theories to students on
a social work course.
Sociology is fluid in the way in which theories become less central to sociological
thinking as time progresses. The theory of social class in particular was very
prominent throughout the 1950 s 1970 s where social class divisions were seen as
central to understanding differences in opportunity and life chances. Social class
has been defined as a division of a society based on social and economic status. (1)
These theories of social class were developed and studied by the likes of Marx,
Weber and Durkheim. The theory of class has been subject to some criticism however
since it fails to explain other forms of inequality such as race, gender and sexuality.
Although there have been many attempts to link these inequalities to social class, no
such connection has been found and other theoretical approaches have been needed
from the likes of Andrew Pilkington, Kathwood Woodward and
Panopticon Theory In Lord Of The Flies
Imagine a society with no rules where chaos, violence, and evil are paramount;
there is no absolute leader and disputes are constant. This vision was a reality in
William Golding s Lord of the Flies. In this novel, a group of young British boys
are stranded on an island due to a fatal plane crash. While trying to provide for
themselves and survive during this crisis, they struggle to find order. The rival
characters, Ralph and Jack, compete for ultimate power, but due to opposing views,
the two cannot agree on strategies to survive. Jack leads the boys away from reason,
law, and order while influencing the boys towards savagery, reckless hunting tactics,
and violence. This resulted in unnecessary death. However, the opposite parallel to
this society is one with constant supervision where misbehaving does not occur. This
society is controlled by the Panopticontheory created by Michel Foucault, which is a
unique prisonthat gave the inmates the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The building had the shape of a ring, where the middle area was a central
observation room and the outside was lined with cells. The guard was able to
observe all of the cells, but the prisoners did not know whether they were spied
upon or not. This sense of always being watched provided a reason for the
prisoners to behave and act appropriately. In Golding s Lord of the Flies, the boys
behavior on the island supports Foucault s concept of society because they
demonstrate how an ideal society deteriorates when there is no enforcement of rules
or laws due to antagonistic beliefs, lack of respect for authority, and savagery.
One cause of the decline of the boys society in Lord of the Flies is their opposing
beliefs. The two leaders, Jack and Ralph, often had

Social Media And Its Effect On Women
Positivity Is Beautiful In today s society it is being brought to the public s attention
more often than before that women deserve to be treated fairly. It is discussed on
social media and has been viewed on television advertisements. The feminine
product seller, always, advertised a commercial. A director named Lauren Greenfield
asked girls if they have had some kind of setback when trying to accomplish
something because they were a girl. All of them said yes and explained their
thoughts. Another advertisement was by Levi jeans and singer/songwriter, Alicia
Keys. The setting took place in Brooklyn, New York and she was shown smiling
and walking on the sidewalk, interacting with her fans. Also, other women were
dancing, and one girl was jumping for joy in the air. Her song 28 Thousand Days
was also being played throughout the commercial. Although these two
advertisements are trying to sell a product, they are actually influencing women in
a positive way. To begin with, both of the advertisements give women confidence.
In the always commercial, all of the girls didn t look flashy, they were dressed
casually, and had little or no makeup on. In a lot of advertisements women are made
to look stimulating, for instance, having a skinny body, a lot of makeup on, and
dressed in designer clothes, so when female viewers look at advertisements like that,
their confidence starts to get low because they don t see themselves like the models.

Impact of an Educator on Sustaining and Enhancing a...
Educators have long been accountable for their student s ongoing learning and
development. The way in which an educator views both their students and their
profession, will determine the way they perceive their pedagogical role in sustaining
children s learning and development. Given Australia s focus on standardised testing
in recent years, educators and society have become consumed by these results rather
focusing on the process and personal needs of children s development (Lingard 2010).

Leading back to Woodrow s (1999) idea of the three dominate perceptions of children
as the innocent , the threat/monster and the embryo adult , we can see that these
expressions are in fact still a large influence on our perception of children in both past
and present societies, today. Consequently, it cannot be ignored that the way an
educator perceives their role, not only within the classroom but through the entirety
of their vocation, is influenced and dependent on their personal beliefs and
perceptions of children (Woodrow Press 2007; Tryggvason 2009). Although all three
of these views still contribute, in varying ways, to society s perceptions of children
today, the most dominant and prevalent as indicated by the Australian education
frameworks (DEEWR 2009; ACARA 2013), is the child as the embryo adult
(Woodrow 1999). Despite the emphasis on play and child initiated learning, the key
ideas of belonging, being and becoming within the Early Years Learning Framework
(DEEWR 2009) have often been interpreted through the mindset and view of the
child as the embryo adult as displayed by multiple marketing campaigns of preschool
education using slogans such as early childhood education preparation for life
(Woodrow Press 2007). Although this appears as a seemingly innocent statement, the
implicit notion that the state of becoming rather than being takes precedence in the

around the daily lives of the main characters.
The main characters, Charlie and Mr. bean, in The Kid and Mr. Bean The Ultimate

rather mischievous. Mr. Bean is naive and self centered, sometimes to the extent of

The main difference of these two movies is that The Kid aims to bring some cheer
to its audiences hearts by showing how joy can still be found in the gloomiest
conditions (as depicted in the daily lives of Charlie and the child he has adopted)
and also to reflect the state of the society while Mr. Bean The Ultimate Disaster

As mentioned earlier, the era in which Charlie Chaplin s The Kid was made did not
allow for colour or sound to be incorporated into its production. Being disadvantaged
in this area, the actors in the film had to make up for it by emphasizing on facial
expressions and body movements, in order to express thoughts and emotions, and
also to portray certain unique mannerisms and character traits of the various

Teen Suicide And Self-Harm Problem In The Anderson

What I consider a problem in the Anderson community as a body is the high
percentage of self harm and depression in teens. More than 20% of teens have

preeminent cause of death 10 24 years of age. These statistics need to be decreased
before it gets critical. Furthermore, before we have numerous more adults than

The Tribe Of Judah
Lastly, Caleb signifies faithful obedience to God s commands and vision in the
book of Numbers. He believes God is able to deliver the evil inhabitants of Canaan
into their hands. In fact, Caleb is selected as one of twelve men to spy out the land in
preparations to take the land. He is chosen to represent the tribe of Judah (Schnittjer
2774). The assignment Mosesgave Caleb and the eleven others were to see the
strength of the people, the quality of the land and the kind of fortification the
towns had built (Numbers 13:17 20). Then, after forty days in the exploring the
land, the twelve returned with the report. All twelve attest to the land being a
place flowing with milk and honey (Numbers 13:27), meaning it was very fertile
and that the people were strong. Gary Schnittjer points out, The first report by the
twelve scouts was factual in that they emphasized the good land as well as the
strong inhabitants (Schnittjer 6488). Immediately, Caleb s says in faith, Let s go
at once to take the land...We can certainly conquer it! (Numbers 13:30). However,
the rest of the spies are afraid of the giants in the land and stir up the rest of the
community to fear the people in the Promised Land. Yet, Caleb s faithful obedience
to trust in the Lord and believe that the Land will be given to him, sets him apart
from all the other Israelites. In fact, it is only Caleb and Joshua that are recorded in
the second census of Numbers. The rest of the people die in the wilderness and

Poverty In A Tale Of Two Cities
The rich s desire to have it all and the poor s ability to barely make ends meet are
both depicted in the novel, A Tale of Two Cities, written by Charles Dickens. People
during the French revolution showed desperation in more intense and harsh ways
than people today, however the reality is poverty has stricken families for
generations. While there is poverty all over the world there is also greed. CEOs,
presidents, kings and queens all live beyond their needs. The French revolution
started because the people living in poverty were tired of being treated as inferior to
the rich. The poor rose up in an attempt to overthrow the corrupt leaders. Today in
America, economic recessions scare the poor and cause them to be weary of the
government similar... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unemployment is one of the major causes for economic troubles for the poor. In
Elizabeth Warren s America Without a Middle Class, it is said that today one in
five American s is unemployed. Today, America is risking the formation of a new
underclass. An article Soaring Poverty Casts Spotlight on Lost Decade by Sabrina
Tavernise adds to this increasing unemployment rate by saying that young, less
educated, mainly men, can t support their children and form stable families
because they are jobless. Not having a job is one of the main causes as to why the
under class is drowning in debt and why they have no money. Lack of jobs was
also a major problem for many poor people in the French Revolution Era. Family
owned businesses and stands were not producing enough money to keep the
people off the streets. Another main factor causing the poor to stay poor is the
lack of security. Elizabeth Warren in her article America Without a Middle Class
says that going to college and finding a good job no longer guarantees economic
safety. Sabrina Tavernise s Soaring Poverty Casts Spotlight on Lost Decade also
highlights the fact that the median full time worker has made no progress on
average wage. This is particularly shocking because students think going to college
will help them become apart of the elite upper class, however, this is no longer

Ancient Rome And Its Effects On The World
Ancient Rome was built on hills, the people living on the top of the hills, and farming
closer to the bottom. The climate of Ancient Rome was humid and cool and ranged
from 55 to 95 Fahrenheit year round. The Alps to the far north of Rome protected
them from threats coming from North Europe, while not isolating them on the
peninsula. Being on the Italian peninsula was useful for trading and sailing to other
areas in the Mediterranean to conquer land. Rome did not trade as much as some
other civilizations around the Mediterranean such as the Egyptians. Most people in
Ancient Romewere farmers and sold most of what they grew to the markets. Rich
landowners had lots of land and either rented it to poorer farmers, or had their many
slaves farm it for them. Some wealthier shopkeepers sailed around the Mediterranean
trading for papyrus and similar items that ordinary people could afford; however,
some traders went further into the Indian Ocean, or West Asia, some traders even
imported silk all the way from China, which only the richest could afford.
The richest and most powerful people in Ancient Rome were the patricians. The
patricians were the wealthiest and were usually part of the Senate, or other
governmental figures. Each year an assembly of the citizens and equites/landowners
would vote new members of the Senate into office. The social structure of Ancient
Rome was a hierarchy. The highest class were the patricians, followed by the
plebeians, who were ordinary citizens
Metaphors In The Workplace
Farming and banking have more in common metaphorically than one would think.
While making a list of common metaphors used in my workplace, many of the
metaphors used on a daily basis involve farm animals, tending animals, and crops. For
example, don t count your chickens before they hatch (make realistic business plans,
don t assume), it all starts with a single seed (business marketing starts with a single
idea), tend your cattle (know, support, and monitor your business). Throughout this
short piece, I will share the most used metaphor in my workplace, the climate this
metaphor creates, and the strength and weakness of the metaphor in relation to
banking and lending. First and foremost, my workplace environment is a commercial
lending department, within a small community bank. My department focuses on
lending to small businesses. The most commonly used metaphor in my workplace is
don t put all of your eggs in one basket . We use this metaphor when discussing new
and growing businesses because often times entrepreneurs are counting on many
different variables aligning perfectly. For example, startups create revenue projections
based on a certain number of customers or products... Show more content on

our job to review all possibilities positive and negative. Therefore, the metaphor don
t put all your eggs in one baskets reminds employees to adjust projections and
theories to account for the best and worst possible scenarios. This metaphor also
creates an environment that educates employees and consumers. Employees learn
more about different businesses and possible business forecasts. While borrowers
learn the need for diversification and planning for low income months. Overall, the
metaphor examines and teaches not only employees but borrowers as

Barbie s Negative Impact on Young Girls
Every girl dreams to have flawless hair, perfect looks, and a slim body with a huge
house, perfect car, and an amazing boyfriend, family, and friends. Many young
girls get this visualization from the one and only Barbie. Barbie is known to be the
perfect doll with a perfect lifestyle and look, but in reality she is ruining the self
esteem and lives of imperfect children. On average, a girl in the early stages of
childhoodowns about seven to ten different Barbie dolls and spends multiple hours
playing with them. This doll has not been a good role model for children because
the more time anyone spends time with anything, the more influence it has on them
(SarenDipty). Barbie has a negative impact on young girls live s by causing eating
disorders, having multiple careers, and having a flawless appearance and a perfect
life. Barbie s first careerwas a super skinny teenage fashion model, therefore many
young girls forced themselves to stop eating to make their appearance more like
the doll s. In the United States, about 85 90% of the people that have eating
disorders are female, and most of them are under the age of 20. More than half

The Industrial Revolution Essay
The Industrial Revolution
Going to work for a full day isn t much fun after working fifteen hours the day
before! 60 70 hour work days are never pleasant in anybody s mind. How is it that
so many people did this during the Industrial Revolution? Was it because they
wanted the extra money? Or was it because they wanted the high political or
economic status? For some people these were the reasons, but for most it was
because of one concern. Survival! The Industrial Revolution greatly changed the
workplace and the proletarians.

created the Industrial Revolution.
In the beginning of the nineteenth century factory working conditions were bad.
Diseases that occurred in the occupation were at a high risk also with, accidents and
harsh discipline. These were the physical affects of the beginning of the Industrial
Revolution, but with them were issues with social class consisting of moral
degradation, and female competition for male jobs. Also from the factory style of
life abortion was quite high and infant and child deaths were at the highest rate ever
recorded. (King Timmins 55)
Most 19th century factories were grim brutal places, and working conditions were
harsh. The normal factory worker contained a shift of 14 to15 hours. This is not to
add that it might take the workers two hours to walk there and back. Working
conditions were so bad that it caused diseases. For
The Bitch Manifesto By Joreen Freeman
Feminist Movements started long before 1960, with the advancement of women
earning the right to vote. However, it did not stop with that change. There were
many other items that the women in history hoped to change, not only to better
their own lives, but also the women of the future. With the use of many documents,
such as flyers, letters, and boycotts, women of the past changed many different
aspects of life for women in the world today. Boycotting the Miss America Pageant
in 1968 and 1969, circulating flyers around America, was just the beginning of this
second movement. They also used to write to convey their thoughts. One of which
was titled The Bitch Manifesto and was written in 1968 by Joreen Freeman. The
second was a spin off from a children s book entitled There was a Young Women
Who Swallowed a lie which was written in 1970 by Meredith Tax. Slavery Exists!
Reported by a flyer that circulated around America in 1968. At this time, slavery as
we remember was over, so to many at the time, what the women were proclaiming
may have been confusing to some. This circulated around before the Miss America
pageant. The Washington Women s Liberation were portraying the pageant to slavery
because Miss America was a slave to cultural norms of the time, the image of sex,
virginal prettiness, glory of war, mindless conformity, acceptance of racism, cult of
youth, the competitive spirit, and the capitalistic system. With this flyer, they were

I never took a class like this before, and it was a totally different system than a
traditional class that I used to attend. I considered that would help me later in the

kind of environment, moreover, I was proud to be part of it. In addition, I thought
it was a good idea to use laptops in class since I owed one at home, and I was able

On the other hand, one of the greatest experiences I had in the first day was, not

Common Perceptions Toward Witches In The Late
Sixteenth...
Reginald Scot explores the common perceptions towards witches in the late sixteenth
century, which he claims they were commonly old, lame, full of wrinkles, poor
(Levack 2004: ?), although not necessarily solitary (Larner 1984: 72). Scot claims
that their appearance often caused alarm among many in the community and caused
the neighbours to find truth in witches utterings. One could argue women were often
ascribed with such stereotypes, for they were both physically and politically
weakened, and were unable to distance themselves from accusations (levack 1984:
127). It is apparent the oppression of these women could represent an attempt to
maintain hegemony in a patriarchal society in the late sixteenth century.
Coincidentally, most women accused of sorcery often lived out of the constraints of
male authority, where they would live alone, perhaps for the rest of her life. It is
apparent witches needed the belief of the local community to reinforce confidence in
their powers, just as much as the local community needed witches as means of a
scapegoat. Scot claimed the witch would visit her neighbours when needing to
procure goods, in which she would go door to door (Levack 2004:). During this visit,
the attitude of the witch was often aggressive for she believed her reputation in the
local community would secure submission from neighbours. However, more often
than that not, her neighbour would echo such hostility, and after upsetting the witch,
she would then leave.

Things to Ponder
It has been observed that the company is violating the principle of control activity of
segregation of duties. The accountant is acting as the treasurer and controller. In this
dual role, he purchases all of the supplies and pays for these purchases. He also
receives the checks and completes the monthly bank reconciliation. Various frauds are
possible when one person handles related activities. These duties must be segregated
to multiple personnel.
Use of the three principles of internal control segregation of record keeping from
physical custody, documentation and independent internal verification is
recommended. This will deliver an effective system of internal controls. Any attempt
at fraudulent activity will be detected unless there is collusion among the employees.
Internal controls over cash receipts should include:
(a)designating only personnel such as cashiers to handle cash;
(b)assigning the duties of receiving cash, recording cash, and having custody of cash
to different individuals;
(c)obtaining remittance advices for mail receipts, cash register tapes for over the
counter receipts, and deposit slips for bank deposits;
(d)using company safes and bank vaults to store cash with access limited to
authorized personnel, and using cash registers in executing over the counter receipts;
(e)making independent daily counts of register receipts and

Municipal Swap Case Study: An Analysis and Recommendation of Synthetic Fixed

typically financed the long term capital needs of the State through tax deductible
General Obligation bonds. This allowed us to achieve a lower costof debtthan similar
taxable bonds. In stark contrast to the fixed rate long term debt financing, short term
municipal financing for our State was often achieved through innovative methods
developed by Wall Street. These new funding options, commonly referred to as

Even though these products are issued as long term securities, they have many of
the same features as traditional short term ones. These debt products are both
callable and puttable which gives the issuer as well as the investor flexibility. The
call feature allows the issuer to buy back the bond. For issuers who are not sure how
long they will need funds, they can get out of the agreement by calling the bond.
Same goes for the investor; they can exercise the put option and receive their
money back. In order to make these products more liquid, investment banks are
used as remarketing agents. These agents resell the bonds at new rates to other
investors. However, there is a cap on how high the rates on the bonds can be
reissued at in order to limit the coupon payments. These variable rate debts also
track the JJ Kenny index. The JJ Kenny index is an index similar to the S P 500 but
for municipal bonds. Also, a synthetic fixed rate debt can be created from
combining a variable rate debt and a SWAP. Given the two proposals, the state is
faced with three forms of debt. The first form is a fixed rate option that would
provide the state with 20 year serial issued bonds with fixed
payments for the duration of the bond and callable after ten years.

The others were UnitedHealthcare the nation s second largest carrier, and Blue Cross
and BlueShield of Florida, The largest health insurer in Florida. Both provide
rankings of local hospitals by procedure, but neither provides as much cost
information as Humana. The Tribune decided to focus on the Humana site.
More Findings
Cost can vary a lot: Heart catheterization, a procedure to determine whether surgery
is needed, cost about $20,000 at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills, almost four times as
much as the $5,850 it cost at Tampa General.
Location can matter
In general, hospital costs tend to be lower in Pinellas County than Hillsborough. And
costs in both counties tend to be less than in Pasco. For example, a stroke prevention
procedure known as Carotid Endarterectomy cost Humana more than $30,000 at
Community Hospital of New Port Richey. Equally good results were reported at
University Hospital in Tampa, where the cost was about $5,000.
Meanwhile, cost for procedures at hospitals in east Pasco County are higher than
elsewhere in Pasco County are higher than elsewhere in Pasco. For example,
the$20,000 Humana said it paid for heart catheterization at Florida Hospital
Zephyrhills is two to three times higher than what it paid at other hospitals in Pasco
and far more than in Pinellas and Hillsborough. Price often has no relationship to
quality: Usually the highest price for a procedure occurred at a facility that received

appropriate to show these series of events in a more visual, direct way. There were
other ways I could have created my final project, such as a documentary, skit, or

It was time to put all of the research I had done in the form of an exhibit. Before
doing the exhibit, I made a layout of what was most probably going to go on my
final poster. Even though I had the layout, I still encountered some problems. I
would have had run into so many more problems if I hadn t done the layout, so I
am glad that I did it. Right before putting my project together, I quickly went to the
store to get the materials like the poster board, glue, clay for the artifacts, etc. Now
that I had all the materials, I was finally set to complete the enormous project. One
of the problems I encountered was that I didn t have enough room on my poster
board for everything that I needed. Because of this, I decided to reprint some of the
items, so that I could fit everything. Another problem I ran into was that I could not
fit my title on one page, so I decided to print it on multiple pages and just glue them
together. After I was finished with cutting and pasting, I realized that I did pretty
well. I also realized that after I finished my project that I did not have to color the
sketch of a train that I drew because most of my pictures were black and white
anyway. After finishing my poster board, I had to create my 3D artifacts. I decided
to make a replica of the locomotive part of the Transcontinental Railroad out of

Prelude to the Battle When the German Wehrmacht finished mopping up the
remnants of the French and British forces at Dunkirk in early 1940 sealing the fate
of France for the next four years, one could only imagine the overjoy among the
heads of the German high command. Poland was the first to fall, then northern
Europe, and finally, France. The operations went so smoothly, it took Adolf Hitler
and
his generals less than a year to swipe across Europe from the border with Russia to

In fact the Fighter Command ended the battle with more aircraft in its inventory than
it did at the start of the battle due to the ingenuity and determination of the British

factor in the narrow margin by which the RAF won the Battle of Britain. But for
now, Dowding had only thirty six of the fifty three fighter squadrons, which needed

article The Impact of Culture on Early Childhood Development in the United
States by Damon Verial it states, The United States is a blending of many cultures
that feature many stable and different subcultures. Where a child grows up and
who her parents are will influence the cultural wisdom, or emphasis of certain
values and skills, that are passed to her. A lot of what my parents have taught me
culturally is through food. My father spent two years of his life in Switzer land
and the South of France. My father has introduced a lot of French culture into our
home. On Christmas Eve, we eat shrimp scampy rather than chicken or turkey,
which is most common in the United States. On Sunday morning when we were
little, our dad would make us omelets. For dinner, we have learned to like crepes,
raklet, and fondue. My mom grew up in Idaho. Every meal has some form of
potato and a side of salad; almost without fail. My parents raised us in the Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. In our church, we have a set of guidelines
called the Word of Wisdom, which teaches us our bodies are sacred and we should
watch what we put in them. For example, we do not drink alcohol or addictive
beverages. My parents and their cultures have had momentous effects on my own
culture. This however is not restricted just by foods. In positions on contradicting
beliefs, I often find my views to mirror the ones of my parents. As I grow older I do
not personally know to what extent my parents influence my culture and if my views
will change or shift toward or away from what they are
Sigmund Freud s Contribution To The Development Of
Art...
Art Therapy Brief History Art has been used since the beginning of human history
as an instrument for communicating feelings, thoughts and ideas (Vick, 2003).
The oldest cave painting was found in the El Castillo Cave in Cantabria, Spain and
dates back 40,000 years to the Aurignacian period (art therapy citation). Art has
become a tool individuals use for self expression and symbolism. While art has
been around for thousands of years, it was not until the 1940 s where art was
developed into a therapeutic tool (Vick, 2003). In the middle of the 20th century,
several individuals began using the term art therapy as they described their work
with clients. The four individuals that were recognized for their contributions to the
development of art therapy during the 20th century in the United States are;
Margaret Naumburg, Edith Kramer, Hanna Kwiatkowska and Elinor Ulman (Vick,
2003). Margaret Naumburg viewed her client s art work as symbolic
communication. It is believed that Margaret Naumburg borrowed heavily from the
techniques of psychoanalytic practices established by Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung
(Vick, 2003). Edith Kramer. Edith Kramer utilized Signmund Freud s personality
theory to explain the art therapy process (Vick, 203). Elinor Ulman contributed to art
therapy through her writing. She published a book that consisted of several essays
on art therapy. This book was used in the field of Art Therapy for many years. Hanna
Kwiatkowska was the final woman to contribute to
Travel Of The Travel Nursing Industry
The travel nursing industry has been on the upswing for 30 years. Through this three
decade old history, it s had more ups than downs when it comes to supply and
demand. Hospitals and clinics across the country are guaranteed to experience staff
shortages from time to time. In addition, many hospitals are being forced to adapt
hiring policies to secure higher nurse to patient ratios. Along with the creation of
vendor management systems, travel nursinghas been a healthy business far and wide.
Through the late 80 s, the travel nursing machine experienced its peak with close to
10,000 nurses available. Today, there are 20,000+ registered travel nurses that form
part of a $2 billion dollar industry, along with countless staff recruitment agencies
sharing in the pie. As of April 2006, there are around 5000 travel nurse openings
available; a significant upward climb from the 2500 spots available three years ago.
This speaks volumes over the potential of the healthcare travel industry in the future.
Travel nursing allows experienced and honed nurses to practice their craft caring for
patients while exploring different parts of the country while collecting a salary up to
20% higher than a standard nurse. As aforementioned, the industry has had more ups
than downs. Currently, the travel nursing industry is experiencing an up swing, with
experts predicting a high rate of growth for nursing positions in the next decade.
According to the latest statistics, there will be a 29%

Marco Rubio, his family, his education, his career, and how do people perceived him.
Introduction
I. Immigration has always been a matter of controversy in the United States. Most of
us have a foreign background or heritage. However, nowadays we can see major
leaders in the world of politics and business that have different cultural backgrounds,
and, if you are Latin American, Asian, African American, the Middle East or any
other race, you might feel more identified with some of these leaders.
II. As an example of one of these leaders we have ... Show more content on

Why Do People Have Sex In Moonlight
The event I went to was REELTalk Film Series: Moonlight which was a showing of
the film and then a discussion about the film afterwords. In this discussion there was
a debate about whether the ending was good enough in relation to the relationship
shown in the film. The ending had the reconciliation between the main character and
his love interest, (Chiron and Kevin), that involved tender touching but no sex
featured that is known to the viewer. Many of the audience argued that there should
have been a sex scene and that the filmmakers were too scared to show black/latino
gay men having sex. There was further debate on whether or not this would change
how the audience would see Chiron knowing what has happened in his life and what
he feels
Scarecrow The Wizard Of Oz
Scarecrow, who is one of the supporting characters in the novel, The Wonderful
Wizard of Oz, by L. Frank Baum, has always wanted to have brains. Dorothy the
main character and Toto find Scarecrow on a pole in the middle of the corn field
after she left Boq s house. After walking for a little while, the Scarecrow told
Dorothy about how he was made. He told Dorothy how a munchkin made him, and
how he can t even do his job since he is only made out of straws, and any crow, who
has sense know that he is only made out of straw and wasn t a man. The Scarecrow
has always wanted some brains after knowing he couldn t scare the crows, because a
crow told him the if he had brains then he would actually be a scary scarecrow.

The Tin Woodmanwanted a heart while the Cowardly Lion wanted some courage.
While they were going to the City of Emeralds, where the great Oz lived, they
faced many challenges. Most of the irony, which means language that normally
signifies the opposite, in the book comes from the way they solve each challenge.
Scarecrow, who is made of straw and has no brains, comes up with the most
intelligent solutions to their problems. While they were walking, they come
across a ditch and no one knows how to cross it, but the Scarecrow says to the
Lion, he should jump over it while carrying us on his back. Later, they come across
a gulf that was deeper and wider than the Cowardly Lion can jump. So after
seriously thinking for awhile, the Scarecrow sees a great tree and says to his
friends, Here is a great tree, standing close to the ditch. If the Tin Woodman can
chop it down, so that it will fall to the other side, we can walk across it easily.
(Baum 41). That is a first rate idea, said the Lion. One would almost suspect you had
brains in your head, instead of straw. (Baum 41). In this situation Scarecrow showed
irony because people would expect someone with brains would find a solution,
instead of a person without
Human Nature In Lord Of The Flies Essay
Human nature is often described as the distinguishing of characteristics, including
ways of thinking, feeling, and acting, which humans tend to have naturally. William
Golding s book. Lord of the flies is an excellent novel that describes how humans,
when put in a rough environment, react to power they are given. The title of the
book Lord of the Flies refers to the Boars head idol that was surrounded by flies was
later created by the boy. The title also represents the fall of the boy s civilization.
The reason William Golding used this title was because of his experiences from the
navy in World War Two. As he wrote about his war times later he said, man produces
evil, as a bee produces honey. World War Two taught him the

A real life example of Ralph would be George Washington. George Washington was
the United States of America s first president and he had very similar ideas as
Ralph like creating peace and order and looking at the situation that he was in and
finding a solution. In the first two pages of the book Ralph is mentioned as the fair
boy which also reflects his description. In another page, he is described as built like
a boxer. When the boys finally group up thanks to ralph and a conch that he found,
they decided to vote for a leader and they all chose Ralph. As the chapters move on
in the beginning, we don t have much conflict with dictatorship or barbaric
humanity but it starts to gradually slide in the story when Jack comes marching in
with his choir. When Ralph became the leader, his first mission was to start a fire
so that if any ship came by the island then they would be noticed and hopefully
rescued. Thanks to a character named Piggy, the boys could create fire using his
glasses. So far things have gone well under Ralphs leadership but Jack realizes that
the boys need food so he plans to make a hunting team that would gather food but
this makes Ralph unconformable and he says no but this only makes Jack angry.
Although times may be peaceful and under control, William Golding points out that
there is always and will always be a thirst for power and

On the Distinctive Feature Theory: A Critique and an Evaluation
I. Phonology
.....
a.The feature theory was most famously developed for phonology by Trubetskoy
(1939), with significant extensions by Jakobson, Fant and Halle (1952) and Chomsky
and Halle (1968). In this paper, the history of each feature theory will be summarized
and the main arguments of each theory outlined. Each theory will then be critiqued
and evaluated with the end point establishing which among these feature theories
would be most necessary to use in doing phonological analysis.
II. Distinctive Feature Theory
A.Trubetskoi s Binary Oppositions
Nikolai Trubetskoi (1890 1938) s GrundzГјge der Phonologie (1939) used the term
opposition to refer to a pair of speech sound that are distinctive, or contrastive. His
was the first attempt to provide a universal framework that are exploited for
phonological proposes in the languages of the world. In his version of the distinctive
feature theory, the system of phonemes was not considered as merely an inventory, in
that the phonemes cannot be studied in isolation, but rather, in relation to ... Show

The book provides explanation of the patterns of sounds within a language by
reference to phonological features in a speaker s mind. There were twenty four
binary features with emphasis on articulatory definitions. In the book, features are
used in phonological rules, setting the scene for Generative Phonology. It has taken a
mentalist approach in that phonetic representations are mentally constructed by the
speaker and hearer. What is perceived depends on: physical constitution of the signal,
hearer s knowledge of the language and extra grammatical factors. It is also in this
work wherein the features are considered to establish natural
Banksy Conceptual Framework Essay
BANKSY
ARTIST
Banksy is a pseudonymous England based graffiti artist, political activist, film
director, and painter.
His satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humor with graffiti done
in a distinctive stenciling technique. Such artistic works of political and social
commentary have been featured on streets, walls, and bridges of cities throughout the
world.
Known for his contempt for the government in labeling graffiti as vandalism, Banksy
displays his art on public surfaces such as walls, even going as far as to build
physical prop pieces. Banksy does not sell photos of street graffiti directly himself;
however, art auctioneers have been known to attempt to sell his street art on location
and leave the problem of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He can actually draw.
ARTWORK
Asked about his technique, Banksy said:
I use whatever it takes. Sometimes that just means drawing a moustache on a girl s
face on some billboard, sometimes that means sweating for days over an intricate
drawing. Efficiency is the key.
Stencils are traditionally hand drawn or printed onto sheets of acetate or card, before
being cut out by hand. Because of the secretive nature of Banksy s work and identity,
it is uncertain what techniques he uses to generate the images in his stencils, though
it is assumed he uses computers for some images due to the photocopy nature of
much of his work.
He mentions in his book, Wall and Piece, that as he was starting to do graffiti, he
was always too slow and was either caught or could never finish the art in one
sitting. So he devised a series of intricate stencils to minimise time and overlapping of
the colour.
There is dispute in the street art world over the legitimacy of stencils, with many
artists criticizing their use as cheating.
AUDIENCE
Peter Gibson, a spokesman for Keep Britain Tidy, asserts that Banksy s work is
simple vandalism, and Diane Shakespeare, an official for the same organization,
was quoted as saying: We are concerned that Banksy s street art glorifies what is
essentially vandalism. In his column for The Guardian, satirist Charlie Brooker wrote
of Banksy ...his work looks dazzlingly clever to idiots.

Consider the following preemptive priority scheduling algorithm based on
dynamically changing priorities. Larger priority numbers indicate higher priority
(e.g., priority 3 is higher priority than priority 1; priority 0 is higher priority than
priority 1, etc.). When a process is waiting for the CPU in the ready queue, its
priority changes at the rate of per unit of time; when it is running, its priority changes
at the rate of per unit of time. All processes are assigned priority 0 when they enter
the ready queue. Answer the following questions:
(a) What is the scheduling algorithm that results when 0? Explain.

For calculating the CPU time of a process in the recent past, a time window of size
t is maintained and the recent CPU time used by a process at time T is calculated
as the sum of the CPU times used by the process between time T and T t. It is
argued that this particular scheduling algorithm (a) will favor I/O bound processes,
and (b) will not permanently starve CPU bound processes. Do you agree/disagree
with (a) and (b)? Explain.
Q.3 [10 marks] Consider a variant of the round robin (RR) scheduling algorithm in
which the entries in the ready queue are pointers to the Process Control Blocks
(PCBs), rather than the PCBs. A malicious user wants to take advantage and
somehow, through a security loophole in the system, manages to put two pointers to
the PCB of his/her process with the intention that it can run twice as much. Explain
what serious consequence(s) it could have if the (malicious) intention goes
undetected by the OS.

the chopsticks are placed in the centre of the table and any two of them can be used
by a philosopher. Assume that requests for chopsticks are made one chopstick at a

Common Infection Among Women During Child Bearing
Period
Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is a common infection among women, it can affect
up to 75% of women during child bearing period. VVC usually associated with
considerable morbidity; symptoms include intense pruritus, vaginal discharge and
dyspareunia. Many factors have been identified to predispose to such condition such
as oral contraceptive pills, pregnancy, uncontrolled diabetes mellitus and long term
broad spectrum antibiotic (Cassone, 2015, Falagas et al., 2006). Beyond the normal
host, the range of patients at risk for invasive candidiasisexpand to patients with
acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, those immunosuppressed due to cancer
therapy and organ transplantation (Bassyouni et al., 2015a).
Recurrent VVC (RVVC) is a more serious condition due to recurrences of symptoms
( 4/year) and refraction to successful treatment. Long term fluconazole therapy may
help in delaying the recurrences but does not result in a long lasting cure (Sobel et
al., 2004). Maintenance and preventive therapy is essential for six months but,
patients may need to stay on medication for a longer period (Ringdahl, 2000).
Recent epidemiological studies founded the prevalence of RVVC higher than that
reported previously as the recurrence rate about 7 8% of women who experience a
first episode and the discomfort associated with RVVC is intense which markedly
affects the quality of life of young women with a strong negative impact on work and
social life (Cassone, 2015).

Anabolic Steroids History
Performance enhancing drugs, specifically steroids, have a long history in sports and
the United States. As a research shows while the first unofficial anabolic steroid was
produced in 1935 (isolated testosterone), it wasn t until 1936 that its use became
popularized as a way to enhance athletic performance. German athletes were rumored
to have used this testosterone in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, but the lack of
documentation as well as well known Nazi anti steroid sentiment has made it difficult
to verify such claims (Yesalis, 2000, p.52). It is this sentiment that began the early
stages of the modern anti steroid epidemic, with the belief that athletes should be
successful due to inherent talent (in the Nazi ideal, genetic fitness), not medicinal
enhancement. Despite some public dissatisfaction, Soviet... Show more content on

Based on this and other researches The United States Olympic Committee (USOC)
and the Ad Council launched a multi year public awareness campaign Don t Be an
Asterisk focused on teen steroid use in August of 2008. The campaign s goal was to
raise awareness about the national issue of illegal performance enhancing drugs both
within and outside of sport. The campaign conveys the urgency of the abuse in an
effort to shift teens perception and image around steroid use. The campaign is
geared to show teens and other age groups that illegal steroid use can only lead to a
harmful and embarrassing end. Additionally, teens need to fully understand the
dangers health risks associated with steroids and other performance enhancing
substances. The main message is When you take steroids, there s no hiding it.
Eventually, everyone will see you for what you really are. A
System Analysis And Design Analysis
What is System analysis and design? System analysis and design performed by
system analysts its need to explain data flow completely, transform data, store data
and some of them. System analysis and design refers to improve the better
procedures and methods and determine the nature of the organization improving
the performance and goals. What we need for the system analysis and design
without any proper planning leads to user dissatisfaction and causes the system to
failure. New technologies are need for the system analysis like Ajax is not a
programming language but it uses the existing languages to make web sites and
desktop applications where as system analysts will generate and redesign the web
pages by using the Ajax technology. What are the roles for the system analyst it will
tell about the users how easily interacted with the technology. Mainly, analyst must
be work with the experienced workers that which are working with the customers.
System analyst takes a responsible role that of an agent of change i.e. serves as a
catalyst for change. What is the concept of the System analysis? System can refer to
it any set of components which functions into inter related manner for a common
cause of our objective. How will what you have learned assist you in achieving

Influence Essay.pdf

  • 1. Influence Essay Crafting an essay on the theme of influence can be a challenging endeavor that requires a thoughtful and nuanced approach. The difficulty lies in the broad scope of the topic, as influence can manifest in various forms across different contexts. Whether exploring personal experiences, historical events, or societal dynamics, the writer must navigate a vast landscape of possibilities. One challenge is defining the parameters of influence and deciding which aspects to focus on within the limited confines of an essay. Is it the impact of individuals on others, the sway of cultural movements, or the ripple effects of significant events? Navigating this complexity requires a clear thesis and a well-organized structure to convey the intended message effectively. Moreover, the writer faces the task of striking a balance between depth and breadth. The topic's depth necessitates thorough research and a comprehensive understanding of relevant theories and examples. Yet, the constraints of essay length demand conciseness, forcing the writer to make strategic choices about what to include and what to omit. Furthermore, grappling with the moral and ethical dimensions of influence adds an additional layer of difficulty. Addressing the potential for manipulation or the responsibility that comes with wielding influence requires a nuanced and reflective approach. Striking the right tone is crucial to avoid oversimplification or, conversely, getting lost in a sea of complex ethical considerations. Lastly, the challenge extends to engaging the reader. The essay must not only inform but also captivate the audience's attention. Balancing intellectual rigor with accessibility is no small feat, and finding a compelling narrative or argumentative thread can be a formidable task. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of influence demands a delicate interplay of research, critical thinking, and effective communication. Success hinges on the writer's ability to navigate the intricacies of the subject, providing a meaningful exploration while adhering to the constraints of the assignment. The difficulty lies not only in the complexity of the topic but also in the writer's skill in presenting a coherent and compelling narrative. For those seeking assistance in tackling such intricate essays or exploring other writing challenges, various resources are available. Services likeHelpWriting.net offer the option to order custom essays tailored to specific requirements, providing support for individuals navigating the complexities of academic writing. • 2. Global Warming, Effects Of Mother Nature By Koo From Hawaii This text will be examining 3 different scientific poems about global warming and explore the beliefs of the writers compared to the writer of this text. This essay will then explore how the different poem styles were used to target different audiences and it will also examine the broader messages hidden in the poems. What are we? is a poem written by Donovan from Hawaii. It is about global warming and how humans are the culprits. The writer of this poem believes that global warming is a very large threat to the human society. It can also be seen that they believe that humans are the causes for causing global warming. These two points can be easily seen in the poem in the following quotes. We are monster destroying Mother Earth, and, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poem is about how Nature is becoming sick. This poem talks about a few of the effects that global warming is having on the environment. It also explores and talks about how humans are the ones that need to fix up these problems. A few examples of this can be found in the text of the poem. It will become hot, like a steaming pot, and, Please Mother Nature don t come to an end because we will be your friend. This shows clear evidence that the writer of the poem is concerned about the fate of the Earth, and that humans are the people who need to do something about it. Global Warming is a poem written by Kira from Hawaii. This is a poem about what is happening to the environment as well as being a call to arms. This poem looks at how the Earth is being heated up by human intervention. It also looks at how we as humans are too stubborn to change our ways, meaning we are putting this world in danger. Examples of these can be found in the writing. Are we out of control with our oil spills, and, The factories are not listening to what we have to say. These quotes show that the author of this poem is thinking about how we as humans need to work together to save the
  • 3. The United States President Should Not Be Limited Thesis: Should the United States President be Limited to the Terms of Service in Office? In this paper, I will argue that the United States president should not be limited to two terms in office. The rational for two terms has been to prevent abuse of power. My argument is based on the benefits of unlimited presidential terms and the hindrance of limited terms on the United States economy. An important element to consider is the role democracy plays on presidential terms and elections. The respect of human rights is a significant attribute in a democratic environment and economy. Democracy allows the rights of citizens to be respected, such as an individual s speech, religion or ethnicity. In a democratic economy every citizen has the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1947 Senator Claude argued I think our people are to be safely trusted with their own destiny. This is exactly what democracy gives the people of United States, a sense of security that the power to select their leader is in their hands. If the people are limited in how many terms the can elect a president, does that not defeat the purpose of democracy? Or if anything conflicts with the sole aim of democracy giving power to the people. Senator Claude also said We do not need to protect the American people with a prohibition against a president whom they do not wish to elect; and if they wanted to elect him, have we the right to deny them the power? The answer to that statement should be no, because a democratic government should not reflect any characteristics of a totalitarian government whatsoever. And denying the people their wish who they wish to elect only reflects that. Why prevent a presidential administration from reelection if the rate of effectiveness is high and beneficial to the economy? When elected in to office each president brings for an agenda, which is a list of adequacies to improve the country. Some Presidents successfully accomplished their intended goal at the end of their presidential term, some appear to be completely unsuccessful. And others leave the presidential office with a completely effective plan that appears to die because they cannot recomplete for the presidential sit and the newly
  • 4. Essay The Chicano View on Mexican Immigration During the 1970 s, Mexican Americans were involved in a large social movement called the Chicano movement. Corresponding with the great development of the black civil rights movement, Mexican Americans began to take part in a series of different social protests in which they demanded equal rights for themselves. Composed mainly of Mexican American students and youth, these activists focused on maintaining a pride for their culture as well as their ethnicity to fuel their political campaign. Left out of this campaign initially though were Mexican immigrants. As is made clear in the writings of David Gutierrez, since the beginning of large amounts of Mexican immigration, Mexican Americans have opposed supporting Mexican immigrants.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This new identity automatically gave everyone something in common which in turn made the group of activists stronger, and more identifiable as a whole. There was also the Plan of Aztlan, where Aztlan (the area interpreted as lost territories that Mexico surrendered to the United States after the United States Mexico war ended in 1848) represented the symbolic territorial base of the Chicano people. The Plan of Aztlan did something for the Chicanos that contradicted their previous belief that they needed to get assimilated within the American society. If anything, Aztlan somewhat diminished and rejected any connection Chicanos had with American culture and society. Along with the changes within the movement, another momentum increasing factor was the Cisneros case ruling that Mexican Americans constituted an identifiable minority group ... and are entitled to special federal assistance (Gutierrez, 186). These reformations of ideas and opinions all lead to a smaller movement within the Chicano movement. Many of the activists were coming to the realization that Mexican immigration was becoming a major civil rights controversy;
  • 5. Effect of Mannose on Shoot Formation of Eplants Results and Discussion Effect of mannose on shoot formation of explants As pBCAMBIA PMI contains the pmi gene which confers mannose resistance, we used the mannose as a selection agent in our transformation experiments. Nine different concentrations and combinations of mannose and sucrose in shoot regeneration medium were used to evaluate the effect of mannose on the organogenesis of non transformed tobacco leaf explants (Fig. 2). After 3 weeks cultivation, we found that no explants produced shoots on media without any tested carbon source (Fig. 2A). When cultivated on 30 gl 1 sucrose (0/30), 100% of the tobacco leaf explants regenerated. The organogenesis response decreased progressively when mannose concentration was increased in the shoot regeneration medium. A decreasing selectivity of mannose was also seen when 5 gl 1 sucrose was supplemented to the selection medium. Results show that the inhibitory effects of mannose increases with decreasing sucrose concentration in the medium, indicating an interaction between mannose and sucrose (Fig. 3). Similar results were described by Sigareva et al. (2004) in tomato as the addition of sucrose to the selection medium modulated the inhibitory effect of mannose on shoot formation. Earlier studies pointed that the indirect toxic effect of mannose caused by the conversion to mannose 6 phosphate by endogenous hexokinase increases with decreasing sucrose concentration in the medium, suggesting an interaction between mannose and

  • 7. Use Of Diction In The Other Wes Moore Tram Nguyen AP English 2 August 2015 The Other Wes Moore: How Did You Live? The author, Wes Moore, utilizes several rhetorical strategies to support his purpose in the novel, The Other Wes Moore. The specific strategies the author uses are diction, syntax, juxtaposition, and imagery. Wes and Wes s lives seemed to be determined by who they met and got to know. The reasons for their fathers absences and their source of guidance also seemed to affect their way of living. The author s purpose seems to involve the influence people have on young people and how it could change their lifestyle. Diction was one of the devices the author used to support his purpose. When the author s father wanted his son s middle name to Wantende, meaning revenge will not be sought , the author s mother stated that it sounded too big for a small baby. (Moore, 7) Despite the name sounding too big for the him when he was a baby, he d grow to be a big, strong guy. Also the meaning of the name seems to be related to what happens later in the book, his father s death. He did not get the help he needed, the doctors could ve done something but they didn t want to spend their time to see what was going on. He came to the hospital all disheveled, tired looking. Even though Wes s father s death was unjustified, Wes ended up in the right path. He faced little bumps when he was younger, but in the end he did the right thing with the help of his mother. When Wes was first sent to military school, he wanted to escape the place. As years went by, the place grew on him. One day, a few teens had threw something at him and told him to Go home, nigger! and he sought for protection. (Moore, 120) He stated, The irony of the situation forced me to smile... Years earlier, I had to run through these same woods with all of my might, looking for safety, trying to get away from the campus. Tonight, I ran through the same wood looking for safety, but in the other direction. (Moore, 122) It meant his life was turned upside down. He was changing, for the better. The other Wes was different. His brother had a fierce
  • 8. Power In The Middle East The region that the Western World views as the Middle East is laden with complexities. In the region there is a long history of what is currently understood as modernization. To parallel that, connected to the Middle East is also a history of being understood as backward or behind in comparison to the West. It seems as if no matter what the empires (now nation states), and the people, of the Middle Eastdo they are constantly going to be relinquished to the other. Global capitalism made its way into the Ottoman empire through a variety of imperial, colonial, and personal sentiments. Imperial and colonial attitudes are the most easily recognized. These processes involve expansion and often domination over other areas, and empires. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Post colonization in the Middle East there have been numerous efforts by the West to continue to assert their control. As is explained in A Clash of Civilizations there is an expansion of specifically American control on global institutions, such as the U.N to push human rights imperialism. Huntington write, countering the aforementioned idea, the West in effect is using international institutions military power and economic resources to run the world in ways that will maintain Western pre dominance, protect Western interests and promote Western political and economic values (Huntington, 40). There is a rhetoric used, one that Said comments on, that maintains an otherness of the Middle East. They are labeled the Orient, a place that is much greater in size than the West world but that is held in tandem with them. Or, they are held as lesser than the West. Beyond the direct colonization of the twentieth century, the entrance of the Middle East into modernity allows judgements to be made on a global

The stars that form this asterism (Dubhe, Merak, Phecda, Megrez, Alioth, Mizar, and Alkaid) are the brightest part of the constellation they make whole, Ursa Major: The Great Bear. Although the constellation is certainly common enough to recognize, I hold a more personal attachment to it. I grew up nearby a convent which owned a crest marked with Ursa Major. The convent was a central root of the area, so the people often had the crest and familiar Ursa Major constellation everywhere. Pulp Fiction Essay Ethical Values in Pulp Fiction Pulp fiction is a movie filled with drugs, violence, gambling, and pop iconography, describing how real life society is going towards the death of god era; a life without morals. A lot of movie critics would say that Jules (Samuel L. Jackson) and Vincent (John Travolta) possess no ethical values, no sense of morality. They also say that the movie does not convey a message. The movie does convey a message; Quentin Tarantino just masks it behind the street savvy talk and murdering of persons who wronged the boss. Later on Butch is driving back from getting his watch and sees Marsellus walking across the street which leads to a chase scene into a pawn shop. This is where Tarantino does an interesting thing, he introduces a greater threat, Zed and his brother, to fix the dispute between Marsellus and Butch, this is also when Butch has his redemption/escape moment. Marsellus is the first one to be taken to the back room while Butch is tied up in the chair. Butch breaks free and can run away but decides to rescue Marsellus; this is when Butch has his change of heart. He grabs the best weapon he can find (a katana sword) to save Marsellus. Although Butch doesn t have a monologue or anything about it, you realize he has escaped the morally wrong world as well. Vincent never makes the transformation that either of the characters previously discussed made. • 13. Social Class And Social Work Essay The purpose of this assignment is to Examine the extent to which social class determines life chances in contemporary Britain, and explore the relevance of the issue for students on a social work degree. Within this document I will identify and explore key concepts and approaches in the sociological analysis of social differentiation in modern society. I will then use these concepts and apply them to contemporary britain in order to explain how social classinfluences an individual s life chances. I will also discuss and examine the value of these theories to students on a social work course. Sociology is fluid in the way in which theories become less central to sociological thinking as time progresses. The theory of social class in particular was very prominent throughout the 1950 s 1970 s where social class divisions were seen as central to understanding differences in opportunity and life chances. Social class has been defined as a division of a society based on social and economic status. (1) These theories of social class were developed and studied by the likes of Marx, Weber and Durkheim. The theory of class has been subject to some criticism however since it fails to explain other forms of inequality such as race, gender and sexuality. Although there have been many attempts to link these inequalities to social class, no such connection has been found and other theoretical approaches have been needed from the likes of Andrew Pilkington, Kathwood Woodward and

This vision was a reality in William Golding s Lord of the Flies. In this novel, a group of young British boys are stranded on an island due to a fatal plane crash. While trying to provide for themselves and survive during this crisis, they struggle to find order. The rival characters, Ralph and Jack, compete for ultimate power, but due to opposing views, the two cannot agree on strategies to survive. Jack leads the boys away from reason, law, and order while influencing the boys towards savagery, reckless hunting tactics, and violence. This resulted in unnecessary death. However, the opposite parallel to this society is one with constant supervision where misbehaving does not occur. In Golding s Lord of the Flies, the boys behavior on the island supports Foucault s concept of society because they demonstrate how an ideal society deteriorates when there is no enforcement of rules or laws due to antagonistic beliefs, lack of respect for authority, and savagery. One cause of the decline of the boys society in Lord of the Flies is their opposing beliefs. The two leaders, Jack and Ralph, often had

The way in which an educator views both their students and their profession, will determine the way they perceive their pedagogical role in sustaining children s learning and development. Given Australia s focus on standardised testing in recent years, educators and society have become consumed by these results rather focusing on the process and personal needs of children s development (Lingard 2010). Leading back to Woodrow s (1999) idea of the three dominate perceptions of children as the innocent , the threat/monster and the embryo adult , we can see that these expressions are in fact still a large influence on our perception of children in both past and present societies, today. Consequently, it cannot be ignored that the way an educator perceives their role, not only within the classroom but through the entirety of their vocation, is influenced and dependent on their personal beliefs and perceptions of children (Woodrow Press 2007; Tryggvason 2009). Although all three of these views still contribute, in varying ways, to society s perceptions of children today, the most dominant and prevalent as indicated by the Australian education frameworks (DEEWR 2009; ACARA 2013), is the child as the embryo adult (Woodrow 1999). Despite the emphasis on play and child initiated learning, the key ideas of belonging, being and becoming within the Early Years Learning Framework (DEEWR 2009) have often been interpreted through the mindset and view of the child as the embryo adult as displayed by multiple marketing campaigns of preschool education using slogans such as early childhood education preparation for life (Woodrow Press 2007). The main difference of these two movies is that The Kid aims to bring some cheer to its audiences hearts by showing how joy can still be found in the gloomiest conditions (as depicted in the daily lives of Charlie and the child he has adopted) and also to reflect the state of the society while Mr. Bean The Ultimate Disaster Movie seeks to bring some comic relief into the highly stressful lifestyle of the modern day individual, by actually letting them laugh at a highly exaggerated, and therefore comic, version of themselves . As mentioned earlier, the era in which Charlie Chaplin s The Kid was made did not allow for colour or sound to be incorporated into its production. • 30. Common Perceptions Toward Witches In The Late Sixteenth... Reginald Scot explores the common perceptions towards witches in the late sixteenth century, which he claims they were commonly old, lame, full of wrinkles, poor (Levack 2004: ?), although not necessarily solitary (Larner 1984: 72). Scot claims that their appearance often caused alarm among many in the community and caused the neighbours to find truth in witches utterings. One could argue women were often ascribed with such stereotypes, for they were both physically and politically weakened, and were unable to distance themselves from accusations (levack 1984: 127). It is apparent the oppression of these women could represent an attempt to maintain hegemony in a patriarchal society in the late sixteenth century. Coincidentally, most women accused of sorcery often lived out of the constraints of male authority, where they would live alone, perhaps for the rest of her life. It is apparent witches needed the belief of the local community to reinforce confidence in their powers, just as much as the local community needed witches as means of a scapegoat. Scot claimed the witch would visit her neighbours when needing to procure goods, in which she would go door to door (Levack 2004:). During this visit, the attitude of the witch was often aggressive for she believed her reputation in the local community would secure submission from neighbours. However, more often than that not, her neighbour would echo such hostility, and after upsetting the witch, she would then leave.

Things to Ponder It has been observed that the company is violating the principle of control activity of segregation of duties. The accountant is acting as the treasurer and controller. In this dual role, he purchases all of the supplies and pays for these purchases. He also receives the checks and completes the monthly bank reconciliation. Various frauds are possible when one person handles related activities. These duties must be segregated to multiple personnel. Use of the three principles of internal control segregation of record keeping from physical custody, documentation and independent internal verification is recommended. This will deliver an effective system of internal controls. Any attempt at fraudulent activity will be detected unless there is collusion among the employees. Internal controls over cash receipts should include: (a)designating only personnel such as cashiers to handle cash; (b)assigning the duties of receiving cash, recording cash, and having custody of cash to different individuals; (c)obtaining remittance advices for mail receipts, cash register tapes for over the counter receipts, and deposit slips for bank deposits; (d)using company safes and bank vaults to store cash with access limited to authorized personnel, and using cash registers in executing over the counter receipts; (e)making independent daily counts of register receipts and

Cohn, We, the State of Connecticut, have typically financed the long term capital needs of the State through tax deductible General Obligation bonds. This allowed us to achieve a lower costof debtthan similar taxable bonds. In stark contrast to the fixed rate long term debt financing, short term municipal financing for our State was often achieved through innovative methods developed by Wall Street. These new funding options, commonly referred to as Variable Rate Demand Obligations ( VRDO s ),... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though these products are issued as long term securities, they have many of the same features as traditional short term ones. These debt products are both callable and puttable which gives the issuer as well as the investor flexibility. The call feature allows the issuer to buy back the bond. For issuers who are not sure how long they will need funds, they can get out of the agreement by calling the bond. Same goes for the investor; they can exercise the put option and receive their money back. In order to make these products more liquid, investment banks are used as remarketing agents. These agents resell the bonds at new rates to other investors. However, there is a cap on how high the rates on the bonds can be reissued at in order to limit the coupon payments. These variable rate debts also track the JJ Kenny index. The JJ Kenny index is an index similar to the S P 500 but for municipal bonds. Also, a synthetic fixed rate debt can be created from combining a variable rate debt and a SWAP. Given the two proposals, the state is faced with three forms of debt. The first form is a fixed rate option that would provide the state with 20 year serial issued bonds with fixed payments for the duration of the bond and callable after ten years.

The air component of the BEF lost a great number of aircraft, including half of its Hawker Hurricane fighters, which would make vital contributions in the victory in the Battle of Britain. Air Chief Marshall Hugh Dowding, the commander of the RAF Fighter Command, resisted the call for sending more aircraft into a hopeless battle in France and pulled the remaining RAF fighters back home to protect Britain. • 40. Sigmund Freud s Contribution To The Development Of Art... Art Therapy Brief History Art has been used since the beginning of human history as an instrument for communicating feelings, thoughts and ideas (Vick, 2003). The oldest cave painting was found in the El Castillo Cave in Cantabria, Spain and dates back 40,000 years to the Aurignacian period (art therapy citation). Art has become a tool individuals use for self expression and symbolism. While art has been around for thousands of years, it was not until the 1940 s where art was developed into a therapeutic tool (Vick, 2003). In the middle of the 20th century, several individuals began using the term art therapy as they described their work with clients. The four individuals that were recognized for their contributions to the development of art therapy during the 20th century in the United States are; Margaret Naumburg, Edith Kramer, Hanna Kwiatkowska and Elinor Ulman (Vick, 2003). Margaret Naumburg viewed her client s art work as symbolic communication. It is believed that Margaret Naumburg borrowed heavily from the techniques of psychoanalytic practices established by Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung (Vick, 2003). Edith Kramer. Sometimes that just means drawing a moustache on a girl s face on some billboard, sometimes that means sweating for days over an intricate drawing. Efficiency is the key. Stencils are traditionally hand drawn or printed onto sheets of acetate or card, before being cut out by hand. Because of the secretive nature of Banksy s work and identity, it is uncertain what techniques he uses to generate the images in his stencils, though it is assumed he uses computers for some images due to the photocopy nature of much of his work. He mentions in his book, Wall and Piece, that as he was starting to do graffiti, he was always too slow and was either caught or could never finish the art in one sitting. We became close friends I needed him to be near me always, he didn t need to say anything or do anything his presents was more than enough. Everyone said he was shy and didn t talk to anyone but with we talked sometimes for hours about nothing and everything all at the same time. I learned quickly everything about him how he thought he was broken and not worthy of anything let alone love, he never said It but I could see in his eyes he thought he was nothing. but I my eyes he was everything and for so long I waited, waited for him to realize he was worth it and that I was worth him. I wish He could see he was Seen even if it was just by me. I found myself studying him like he was Another language I d stay awake analyzing his every move and everything he said to me. He was I complete mystery to me. He said nothing would happen between us and for a long time I believed him. And then one night something did happen and immediately he broke me. IT was like a bad movie and I watched him drive off into the darkness I broke down, I lost it drove home in tears. I had only ever cried over one other man and I promised myself that would never happen again but here I was Again. From that moment every time I was away from him I felt frozen time like I didn t matter If he wasn t around. I found myself Going to his house and just sitting in silent as he played video games just to feel alive. We never talked about that night but it was always on
  • 50. Nt1330 Final Paper Consider the following preemptive priority scheduling algorithm based on dynamically changing priorities. Larger priority numbers indicate higher priority (e.g., priority 3 is higher priority than priority 1; priority 0 is higher priority than priority 1, etc.). When a process is waiting for the CPU in the ready queue, its priority changes at the rate of per unit of time; when it is running, its priority changes at the rate of per unit of time. All processes are assigned priority 0 when they enter the ready queue. Answer the following questions: (a) What is the scheduling algorithm that results when 0? Explain. (b) What is the scheduling algorithm that results when 0? Explain. Somebody proposed a CPU scheduling algorithm ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For calculating the CPU time of a process in the recent past, a time window of size t is maintained and the recent CPU time used by a process at time T is calculated as the sum of the CPU times used by the process between time T and T t. It is argued that this particular scheduling algorithm (a) will favor I/O bound processes, and (b) will not permanently starve CPU bound processes. Do you agree/disagree with (a) and (b)? Explain. Q.3 [10 marks] Consider a variant of the round robin (RR) scheduling algorithm in which the entries in the ready queue are pointers to the Process Control Blocks (PCBs), rather than the PCBs. A malicious user wants to take advantage and somehow, through a security loophole in the system, manages to put two pointers to the PCB of his/her process with the intention that it can run twice as much. Explain what serious consequence(s) it could have if the (malicious) intention goes undetected by the OS. Q.4 [10 marks] Consider the version of the dining philosopher s problem in which the chopsticks are placed in the centre of the table and any two of them can be used by a philosopher. Assume that requests for chopsticks are made one chopstick at a time. Describe a simple rule for
  • 51. Common Infection Among Women During Child Bearing Period Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is a common infection among women, it can affect up to 75% of women during child bearing period. VVC usually associated with considerable morbidity; symptoms include intense pruritus, vaginal discharge and dyspareunia. Many factors have been identified to predispose to such condition such as oral contraceptive pills, pregnancy, uncontrolled diabetes mellitus and long term broad spectrum antibiotic (Cassone, 2015, Falagas et al., 2006). Beyond the normal host, the range of patients at risk for invasive candidiasisexpand to patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, those immunosuppressed due to cancer therapy and organ transplantation (Bassyouni et al., 2015a). Recurrent VVC (RVVC) is a more serious condition due to recurrences of symptoms ( 4/year) and refraction to successful treatment. Long term fluconazole therapy may help in delaying the recurrences but does not result in a long lasting cure (Sobel et al., 2004). Maintenance and preventive therapy is essential for six months but, patients may need to stay on medication for a longer period (Ringdahl, 2000). Recent epidemiological studies founded the prevalence of RVVC higher than that reported previously as the recurrence rate about 7 8% of women who experience a first episode and the discomfort associated with RVVC is intense which markedly affects the quality of life of young women with a strong negative impact on work and social life (Cassone, 2015). Candida albicans was reported
  • 52. Anabolic Steroids History Performance enhancing drugs, specifically steroids, have a long history in sports and the United States. As a research shows while the first unofficial anabolic steroid was produced in 1935 (isolated testosterone), it wasn t until 1936 that its use became popularized as a way to enhance athletic performance. German athletes were rumored to have used this testosterone in the 1936 Berlin Olympics, but the lack of documentation as well as well known Nazi anti steroid sentiment has made it difficult to verify such claims (Yesalis, 2000, p.52). It is this sentiment that began the early stages of the modern anti steroid epidemic, with the belief that athletes should be successful due to inherent talent (in the Nazi ideal, genetic fitness), not medicinal enhancement. Despite some public dissatisfaction, Soviet... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Based on this and other researches The United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and the Ad Council launched a multi year public awareness campaign Don t Be an Asterisk focused on teen steroid use in August of 2008. The campaign s goal was to raise awareness about the national issue of illegal performance enhancing drugs both within and outside of sport. The campaign conveys the urgency of the abuse in an effort to shift teens perception and image around steroid use. The campaign is geared to show teens and other age groups that illegal steroid use can only lead to a harmful and embarrassing end. Additionally, teens need to fully understand the dangers health risks associated with steroids and other performance enhancing substances. The main message is When you take steroids, there s no hiding it. Eventually, everyone will see you for what you really are. A
  • 53. System Analysis And Design Analysis What is System analysis and design? System analysis and design performed by system analysts its need to explain data flow completely, transform data, store data and some of them. System analysis and design refers to improve the better procedures and methods and determine the nature of the organization improving the performance and goals. What we need for the system analysis and design without any proper planning leads to user dissatisfaction and causes the system to failure. New technologies are need for the system analysis like Ajax is not a programming language but it uses the existing languages to make web sites and desktop applications where as system analysts will generate and redesign the web pages by using the Ajax technology. What are the roles for the system analyst it will tell about the users how easily interacted with the technology. Mainly, analyst must be work with the experienced workers that which are working with the customers. System analyst takes a responsible role that of an agent of change i.e. serves as a catalyst for change. What is the concept of the System analysis? System can refer to it any set of components which functions into inter related manner for a common cause of our objective. How will what you have learned assist you in achieving further academic and/or work related goals? In these system analysis and design we have so much information to learn and it will be helpful in your future carrier I want to mention some topics
