Kassim, the main character in the opening scene, conforms to stereotypes of elderly businessmen through his outfit, bossy behavior, and stubborn refusal to seek help for his problems. He yells at the school kids to leave and is portrayed as angry and stressed from work through his suit and tie. The school kids and doctor character also conform to stereotypes, with the kids obeying Kassim and the doctor being Asian in a lab coat. Inspiration came from the character Sam in Man on the Ledge, who similarly refuses help while trying to get his point across. The film attracted the filmmaker's peers as the actors were around the same age.
