Q2 - How effective is the combination of your main
product and ancillary products? –

WHAT DID YOU DO FOR EACH
PRODUCT YOU PRODUCED?
- As part of our Media course for A2 we had the tasks to create a promotional package which included a
digipak (album cover), a website and music video for our hip-hop/rap artist A$AP RAJ.
- We chose to do these three because we felt that we could produce great synergy between the three as
we had a good idea of what we wanted to do. For example displaying our music video on the website
and showing a clear pattern with the digipak.
- When creating the website we had a lot of freedom to make it how we wanted it to be. Thus allowing
our creativity to flourish, for example linking all our artists social media accounts on the home page. If
we had chosen to do an advert with was the other option I think that our creativity would have been
hindered as we would have had to follow a set criteria.
- Further more I think that most of the people who watch our video would be internet save and would
be used to the internet and would enjoy the experience of a new website.

OUR CONCEPT/DIGIPAK
 When creating our music video we had the idea to create synergy between all three products so that our
audiences can see a clear link between all three of our products and so that it all made sense. After deciding
how our video would look i decided to make sure that our front cover was bright and colourful to match the
video as when researching most of the hip hop digipaks had an element of colour to them. We also added
colour to all three products has our artist who was one who loves to party and always feel alive, hence the
album name ‘state of mind’ as being down in the dumps and feeling dark and gloomy is only a miss
perception according to our artist.
After researching albums such as Acid rain and Discovery we took inspiration
from them as the bright lights emphasises the power back onto the artist
which we really thought sent a message to the audiences that the artist is in
control of hes music and is not influenced by any third party act. We decided
to add our artist picture in big on our front page so that it Is only about him
and he gets as much exposure as possible as this was a common feature
when researching websites of artists. Also we thought that our artist should
have a signature thing that is does which it the praying sign which could be
seem throughout all 3 products. We feel that this was a good idea because it
allows the audience to just see that denotation and instantly refer back to our
artist.
Rihanna is wearing bright red lipstick
which pops out onto the audience. This
is to make her stand out as an individual
and make people take a second look at
what she is doing. Also red connotes
lust, danger and strength, all which
could be represented in her lyrics.
The album text name is very
simple which makes it stand out
more. It is big and bold and
stands out against Rihanna's
skin tone which makes it more
visible to the buyer.
Rihannas face covers the
whole front cover which
emphasises her beauty and
sex appeal. Furthermore it
also allows audiences to
recognise her straight away.
The theme of red and passion is
followed through onto the panels
which adds to the lust affect. Also
as she is laying down it could add
to her sex appeal.
This is the side of the digipak which
includes all of the tracks for the album.
This is more to let the audience know
what songs are included.
Once again we see Rihanna looking
straight into the camera which
draws our attention to her. Also she
is carrying on the theme of lust and
danger with her red hair.
I researched many
different digipaks for
example Rihanna's loud
so that I had a vas
knowledge of my genre.
WEBSITE EXPLAINED
 We designed the website with the idea of exposing the artist as much as we
can to the audience. We added multiple pages to the website to enable fans
and audiences to find quick exactly what they are looking as a easy and quick
interface to use is essential to success finding out from our research. We
included pages such as store and tour dates so that the fans can see exactly
when they are able to see our artist and be able to engage with him.
 Our website has links to our digipak and music video which is vital has we can
see the synergy between all three products such as the colour, fonts and the
signature pose. Some may say that the website used was too simple but I argue
that the more simple it may be the more affective it becomes as usability is key
to us.
WEBSITE CONTINUED
 On the website we added a shop page so that the audience could feel
closer to the artist and purchase merchandise as though like a real artist.
As long as news page to keep the fans right up to date with what is going
on with Rajs life so that the fans feel the realism.
 We made our website as simple as possible so that users will feel
comfortable and happy when using it. Further more we kept the colour
scheme the same the whole way through so that it would look like a
professional website that our older fans could like.
IN RELATION BETWEEN THE MUSIC
VIDEO AND WEBSITE
 Our digipak relates to our music video because the images used in our digipak our
in the same of some of the locations in our music video. This gives the audience
clear understanding that there is a clear distinguished link between the ancillary
products. Our actual CD has an image of our artist doing our signature pose which
is seen in the video which allows audiences to connect with our artist as they can
imitate our pose too.
 We have used the same clothing in our music video as in our digipak so that the
audiences know that both products are up to date and current. Also our digipak
uses a constant blue colour on each panel as this bright blue colour is seem in
through out the video as it is shot outside. I feel this was a key link as it allows
audiences to see clear links between the artist so things like certain colours and
poses would be iconic to him.
OVERALL
 Overall throughout my main and ancillary products I have kept the
same theme consistent across all things. For example the blue colour
in the video, digipak and website which I think came across very
affective. This is because is the audience see one thing out of the
website, digipak and video they will know who the artist is.
 Overall I am very happy with how our three products came out as I
think they looked very professional and clean with a clear link between
the three. Also I think that they have a realism look because of the
research and dedication we put into the making of the products.

  • 1. MEDIA EVALUATION Q2 - How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary products? – A$AP RAJ TOO YOUNG Dilraj Singh

WHAT DID YOU DO FOR EACH PRODUCT YOU PRODUCED? - As part of our Media course for A2 we had the tasks to create a promotional package which included a digipak (album cover), a website and music video for our hip-hop/rap artist A$AP RAJ. - We chose to do these three because we felt that we could produce great synergy between the three as we had a good idea of what we wanted to do. For example displaying our music video on the website and showing a clear pattern with the digipak. - When creating the website we had a lot of freedom to make it how we wanted it to be. Thus allowing our creativity to flourish, for example linking all our artists social media accounts on the home page. If we had chosen to do an advert with was the other option I think that our creativity would have been hindered as we would have had to follow a set criteria. - Further more I think that most of the people who watch our video would be internet save and would be used to the internet and would enjoy the experience of a new website.

OUR CONCEPT/DIGIPAK  When creating our music video we had the idea to create synergy between all three products so that our audiences can see a clear link between all three of our products and so that it all made sense. After deciding how our video would look i decided to make sure that our front cover was bright and colourful to match the video as when researching most of the hip hop digipaks had an element of colour to them. We also added colour to all three products has our artist who was one who loves to party and always feel alive, hence the album name ‘state of mind’ as being down in the dumps and feeling dark and gloomy is only a miss perception according to our artist. After researching albums such as Acid rain and Discovery we took inspiration from them as the bright lights emphasises the power back onto the artist which we really thought sent a message to the audiences that the artist is in control of hes music and is not influenced by any third party act. We decided to add our artist picture in big on our front page so that it Is only about him and he gets as much exposure as possible as this was a common feature when researching websites of artists. Also we thought that our artist should have a signature thing that is does which it the praying sign which could be seem throughout all 3 products. We feel that this was a good idea because it allows the audience to just see that denotation and instantly refer back to our artist.
  • 7. Rihanna is wearing bright red lipstick which pops out onto the audience. This is to make her stand out as an individual and make people take a second look at what she is doing. Also red connotes lust, danger and strength, all which could be represented in her lyrics. The album text name is very simple which makes it stand out more. It is big and bold and stands out against Rihanna's skin tone which makes it more visible to the buyer. Rihannas face covers the whole front cover which emphasises her beauty and sex appeal. Furthermore it also allows audiences to recognise her straight away. The theme of red and passion is followed through onto the panels which adds to the lust affect. Also as she is laying down it could add to her sex appeal. This is the side of the digipak which includes all of the tracks for the album. This is more to let the audience know what songs are included. Once again we see Rihanna looking straight into the camera which draws our attention to her. Also she is carrying on the theme of lust and danger with her red hair. I researched many different digipaks for example Rihanna's loud so that I had a vas knowledge of my genre.

  • 9. WEBSITE EXPLAINED  We designed the website with the idea of exposing the artist as much as we can to the audience. We added multiple pages to the website to enable fans and audiences to find quick exactly what they are looking as a easy and quick interface to use is essential to success finding out from our research. We included pages such as store and tour dates so that the fans can see exactly when they are able to see our artist and be able to engage with him.  Our website has links to our digipak and music video which is vital has we can see the synergy between all three products such as the colour, fonts and the signature pose. Some may say that the website used was too simple but I argue that the more simple it may be the more affective it becomes as usability is key to us.
  • 10. WEBSITE CONTINUED  On the website we added a shop page so that the audience could feel closer to the artist and purchase merchandise as though like a real artist. As long as news page to keep the fans right up to date with what is going on with Rajs life so that the fans feel the realism.  We made our website as simple as possible so that users will feel comfortable and happy when using it. Further more we kept the colour scheme the same the whole way through so that it would look like a professional website that our older fans could like.
  • 11. IN RELATION BETWEEN THE MUSIC VIDEO AND WEBSITE  Our digipak relates to our music video because the images used in our digipak our in the same of some of the locations in our music video. This gives the audience clear understanding that there is a clear distinguished link between the ancillary products. Our actual CD has an image of our artist doing our signature pose which is seen in the video which allows audiences to connect with our artist as they can imitate our pose too.  We have used the same clothing in our music video as in our digipak so that the audiences know that both products are up to date and current. Also our digipak uses a constant blue colour on each panel as this bright blue colour is seem in through out the video as it is shot outside. I feel this was a key link as it allows audiences to see clear links between the artist so things like certain colours and poses would be iconic to him.
  • 12. OVERALL  Overall throughout my main and ancillary products I have kept the same theme consistent across all things. For example the blue colour in the video, digipak and website which I think came across very affective. This is because is the audience see one thing out of the website, digipak and video they will know who the artist is.  Overall I am very happy with how our three products came out as I think they looked very professional and clean with a clear link between the three. Also I think that they have a realism look because of the research and dedication we put into the making of the products.
