The document discusses casting, locations, costumes, makeup, hair, lighting, and props for a music video. It aims to cast youthful actors, Jess and Lewis as the artist and her boyfriend, to appeal to teen audiences. Scenes will be filmed in outdoor locations like woods and a lake to convey feelings of being lost. Costumes were chosen to depict the artist's struggle to fit in and the boyfriend trying to change her. Makeup, hair, and lighting aim to keep the artist looking natural while conveying the intended message through symbolic props like cigarettes.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
Francesca Gottschalk - How can education support child empowerment.pptxEduSkills OECD
Francesca Gottschalk from the OECD’s Centre for Educational Research and Innovation presents at the Ask an Expert Webinar: How can education support child empowerment?
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
2. CastJess - Robyn
- We wanted a youthful
looking artist as our target
audience is teens, so we
thought Jess was the
perfect person as she is
youthful and is a young
teen herself. Therefore it
is easier for the target
audience to relate to her
as they are of similar age.
- It was also important to have
someone young as there
isn’t many teenagers in
the charts, only young
adults, therefore the artist
is something new and
different.
3. CastLewis – the boyfriend
- We needed a teenager to
make it convincing that
the artist was in a
relationship with him. If
we had chosen someone
older than it may not have
been as convincing
- As both Lewis and Jess are of
similar age, we decided
Lewis would be perfect for
the role
- Ryan’s style is quite like the
boyfriend we vision for
the music video therefore
think he’d be perfect for
4. - We wanted to pick someone
who was youthful
looking like the other
actors, thus choosing
Megan
- We also wanted someone
that looked very
different compared to
Jess, which is another
reason why we chose
her for the role of the
new girlfriend
- As Megan as she has lighter
coloured hair and blue
eyes, she has opposites
CastMegan – the new girlfriend
5. Location
- As our audience wanted we
have carefully selected a
range of locations in order
to meet this
- We have chosen the woods for
one of the performance
scenes as woods often
connote to being lost (she
is lost with who she is)
- We have also chosen to film in
an alley in front a ‘grubby’
garage as it fits in with the
image we are going for
- We also decided to film near a
lake as we thought the
shots would be effective
6. Location
- For the narrative scenes we
decided on two locations
- The second location we have
chosen is a park as it is a
standard date place for
teenagers to go to. We
also thought it would
convey that they are
stereotypical teenagers
hanging out
- We also decided on filming in
a café for the narrative as
we thought we could
portray that he is trying to
change her by questioning
what food she is eating
7. Costume
- For the scene in the alley, our artist is going to wear a baggy band tee,
black jeans and lack boots
- The black signifies the darkness and the weight of trying to pretend she’s
something she’s not. The comfortable baggy band tee symbolises
she’s trying to fit in but in contrast she is trying to break free from
being restricted
- The boots are a stylistic choice for the purpose of the performance
8. Costume
- For the scenes shot at the
lido, jess is going to
wear a selection of
kimonos, light blue
jeans, a black top and
black boots
- This will convey her
innocence as the style is
girly
9. Costume - For the scenes shot at the date
and woods jess will wear a
green jacket, white top,
black jeans and black
boots
- For one of the date scenes
she’ll wear a beanie in
which the boyfriend will
take it off her – showing
he’s trying to change her
- The green jacket represents
that she is your average
teenage girl as its currently
in style
- Another scene she’ll have
glasses, representing she is
hiding her true self behind
someone she’s not
10. CostumeLewis – the boyfriend
- Lewis will wear a grey
blazer, black top, black
jeans, grey trainers and
sunglasses
- The blazer is to give a spin
on the average guy,
signifying there is
something different
about him, giving a
‘hipster’ vibe
- The black connotes he is
trouble and almost a
danger to her
- the sunglasses show he is
trendy
11. CostumeMegan – the new girlfriend
- The new girlfriend will wear
black jeans, black boots, a
beanie, a jumper and a fur
black jacket
- The similar style to jess
contrasts that they are
different (Megan’s facial
features) and that he is
onto his next ‘victim’
- It is almost as if he is changing
every girl, the subtle
message is telling the
audience not to change
because he went with
another girl who was just
like her
12. Makeup
- For majority of the scenes,
jess wears subtle
makeup to show she is
the average girl who
doesn’t wear tons of
makeup
- For the alley scenes, she
wears more grungy
makeup – giving the
vibe we are going for
13. Hair - We decided to keep jess’
natural hair (straight) as
we thought this showed
that she was natural but
also fitted in with
current trends. Straight
hair is often quite a
common style among
youths (our target
audience) so we
thought this would be
more relatable to her
due to the similar
appearance/trait
14. Lighting
- For the lighting, all shots will be in natural day light as that’s what
will get the best shots
- This is an unconventional music video as indie music videos tend
to have gritty filters over them however we have decided to
keep it bright, especially as many of the scenes are outside
- The bright colours juxtapose with the artists feelings (confusion
and hurt)
15. Props
- We’ve decided not to use many props within
our piece as we felt we wanted a more
minimalistic piece – a typical convention of a
music video
- The props we are using are cigarettes to portray
that the male protagonist is trying to corrupt
her/change her. As cigarettes and smoking
connote to bad stereotypes and danger –
this signifies that he is a danger to her. This
also simply physically shows that he has
changed her
- We also will be filming in a café, so therefore
the food we use will be used to show that he
is changing the way she views herself/and
eating habits
