Fluorescence Spectroscopy And The Emission Wavelength Of...
Abstract Fluorescent properties are used to study protein and small molecule interactions. Fluorescent
spectrophotometry determined the excitation wavelength of eosin isothiocyanate to be 525 nm and its
emission wavelength was 545 nm. Glycogen phosphorylase was similarly studied. The excitation
wavelength was 330 nm and the emission wavelength was 360 nm. The emission wavelength could be
indicative of the presence of the fluorophore, tryptophan. The potential interaction between bovine
serum albumin (BSA) and 1 anilino 8 naphthalene sulfonic acid (ANS) was studied through
fluorescence and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET). BSA had an emission wavelength of
358 nm which could also be indicative of a tryptophan. When BSA and ANS were mixed together, the
emission wavelength was longer suggesting that the molecules interact with each other and follow
FRET.
Introduction
Fluorescence spectroscopy is a useful technique to determine the proteins and nucleic acids of a
macromolecule. Some molecules, fluorophores, can absorb light at certain wavelengths and then emit
it at another wavelength. When the molecule absorbs light it is excitation and the light released is
emission. The light particles, photons, hit a fluorophore to excite the molecule (Voet et. al 2013).
Excitation occurs by the valence electrons of the molecule receiving energy and moving to a higher
energy state from the ground state. The excited electrons will later return to the ground state because

Side Effects Of Lupron
If you are keen, you will note that the above side effects of lupron injections are similar to lupron side
effects endometriosis; there is only a slight difference. This is a clear indication that lupron has almost
the same side effects although it used under different circumstances. Long term side effects of lupron
injection If you use lupron for long and stop once the dose is over, you can continue experiencing
depot lupron side effects after you have stopped taking the treatment. If you experience such effects,
they are known as long term side effects of lupron depot. Discovering this can create feelings of
anxiety. However, being aware of lupron long term side effects and being on the look for the effects is
the best action you can take.

How Did Confucius Changed History
Confucius not only changed history by creating his philosophical doctrine, Confucianism, but he
influenced the education system in ancient China. As one of China s greatest philosophers, Confucius
was active, good natured person with a good sense of humor. During his time, many people were born
in to social stature and tended to stay in that level of social strata throughout their lifetime. Confucius
was born into neither peasant or high born status, a common man with high goals would be the best
way to describe him. Confucius developed a moral code that would influence and serve as the
foundation for official and political policy during the Han Dynasty. The teachings of Confucius
emphasized self enlightenment and personal responsibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

By the time Confucius was born his family was regulated to poverty. The Records of the Grand
Historian, compiled some four hundred years after Confucius time, indicate that Confucius was
conceived out of wedlock. His father was seventy, and his mother only fifteen at his birth. His father
had been a magistrate and a warrior, but his father died after his third birthday and he was raised
predominately by his mother, Yan Zhengzai. His mother became his mentor and teacher until his teens
where he was recognized for his tireless dedication to learning and observation. By the age of 15 he
was totally heart set on learning. He was recognized as an intelligent, insightful young scholar through
his relentless questioning of social policy of the time. Confucius s notoriety gained him notice with
local government officials. As a young man, he was a minor administrative manager in the State of Lu
and may have risen to the position of justice minister. He was hired to manage government stables and
grain storage facilities. After working for several years as a book keeper, cowherd and a clerk he

Research Paper. One day on February 20, 2002, a case was brought to the court and, argued pertaining
to capital punishment known as ATKINS v. VIRGINIA. The jury convicted Daryl Atkins for the
murder of a Virginia City man, as well as the kidnapping and armed robbery of the victim.
Investigators found out that on the 16th of Aug 1996, Atkins, and his partner named William Jones
kidnapped Eric Nesbitt from his place of residence, armed with a semiautomatic handgun. Atkins and
William both of these suspect proceeded to rob him for all of the cash he had on him at the time and
asked him for more cash and ended up withdrawing additional cash from a nearby ATM with Nesbitt s
card. From there, Atkins and William brought the victim to a nearby location and shot him eight times
including on his head and face, and killed him.
Both Atkins and William s statement were similar, that is why it did not took investigator that long to
find out what exactly happened, except for the fact that they both accused each other for the actual
shooting and killing of Eric Nesbitt. Both of the suspects of the murder plead guilty and were indicted
for the death penalty; however william s death penalty was waived in exchange for his statement

Ideal School Vs. Middle School
Leaving elementary school I wanted to go to a middle school that all my friends were going to, but of
course my parents wanted a better school for me than the ones that were available. So I end up going
to a completely new charter school with people I didn t know. This school had very different rules
than the ones I m used to you. My first year at a new school and in middle school didn t go so well,
but so far this school has proved to be a positive decision. Going from a normal public school where
the rules aren t that enforced to charter school where the rules are strict was a big change for me. I did
not agree with having to stay after school for unfinished homework, or writing a sentence 25 times for
a consequence. I went from a school

The Importance of the Sikh Turban and Muslim Hijab
The Importance of the Sikh Turban and Muslim Hijab We live in a world where conflicts between
religions have existed since the beginning of time. There are many issues worldwide based on
religious differences, such as the conflict between Israel and Iran which is based on Judaism and Islam
or the issue of India and Pakistan both possessing nuclear weapons over the conflict between
Hinduism and Islam. These issues exist in all religions, in all regions of the world. People argue
constantly about which religion is right, but they do not realize that there are many similarities
between religions. In fact, the only way there can be peace in the world is if people focused on the
similarities of their religions instead of the differences. A lot of religions in the world have certain
rituals, traditions and symbols in their faith of great significance. In Sikhism and Islam, head
coverings are very popular in their faith and are sometimes even necessary depending on the branch of
each religion. The Sikh turban and Muslim Hijab are both very important in their faiths as seen
through their history and establishment, significance and current world issues surrounding head
coverings. The turban is very important and Sikhism and the tradition of wearing a turban in the Sikh
religion started on Baisakhi Day in 1699. The Tenth Master, Guru Gobind Singh gave the people the
idea of wearing a turban, which is better known as a dastar in the Sikh culture. During that time, only

The Two Major Theories Of International Relations
Introduction
The study of international relations takes a wide range of theoretical approaches. Some emerge from
the discipline itself; others have been imported, in whole part from disciplines such as economics or
sociology. Many theories of international relations are internally and externally contested, and few
scholars believe only in one or another. A theory of international relations is a set of ideas that explains
how the international system works (SparkNote on International Politics, 2010). Unlike an ideology, a
theory of international studies is backed up with concrete evidence. This essay will focus on two
major theories of international relations (IR), namely realism and liberalism to determine which one is
more useful in the study ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Societal ideas, interests, and institutions influence state behaviour by shaping state preferences, that is,
the fundamental social purposes underlying the strategic calculations of governments. For liberals, the
configuration of state preferences matters most in world politics, not as realists argue , the
configuration of capabilities and not as, institutionalists (that is functional regime theorists) maintain,
the configuration of information and institution. According to Donelan (1990: 24), the central point in
realism is then that sometimes we as persons and still more important as associations are made moral,
for we have a common power over us; the state. He goes on further to say that we are not made moral,
there is no common power, and that is international relations as the frontiers of the state are the limits
of morals which on one side we have security of the state, on the other the bleak wastes of
international relations, where the states and great associations confront each other in cold

Qrt Floods Essay
The weather of the months leading up to the South East Queensland floods not only gives an
indication of the weather patterns before the flood, but shows the continuity and change in the
weather, which ended up causing this catastrophic natural disaster. The SE QLD floods was the result
of a continuum of a build up of conditions, which can be seen in the synoptic charts.
As seen in the Mid September month, there were many high pressure systems of 1025+ hectopascals
affecting australia, in particular the south west areas of the country. The ridges of the high pressure
systems impacted the North east parts of Australia as well, including most of QLD. This caused clear
skies, and dry weather seen in most of QLD, with some areas having their ... Show more content on

With the dominant cold front impacting the south and south east area of the state, more prominent
rainfall was found, in which QLD experienced wet and generally warm days in the north, and wet and
cool days in the south east. On the 25th of the month, North Queensland was impacted from the low
pressure system condition, bringing heavy rain, for example most of the Cairns region recorded more
than 200mm during the week. With a trough extending from Northern Territory to QLD also brought
strengthened conditions to this area of the country. This trough is the beginning of an easterly dip,
which are good sources of flood conditions. This weather in November impacted this area of QLD
greatly, meaning as the disaster unfolded, the conditions of SE QLD aided the disaster to have an even
greater impact.

The atom is an important thing in the world of science and chemistry. The atom might have started on
a different point of view on how the atom works. There were many different people who had many
good and different ideas on how to use the atom and what it was used for. Democritus was one of
many other philosopher and scientists that wanted to start the discovery of the atom. He got the name
atom from a Greek word, atomos which means that everything is uncut table. The atom was
discovered by Ernest Rutherford while he was doing an experiment in 1911 1919. Ernest Rutherford
suggested at first that the atoms orbited around atomic the nucleus, just like the planets. Atoms are
basic units of matter that are made of protons, neutrons, and electrons. Protons and neutrons are
particles that are found in the center of the atom, and the electrons are particles that are found in shells
that orbit around the nucleus of the atom. The nucleus was discovered in 1911, by Ernest Rutherford
and it is known for holding the protons and neutrons, and it s also in the middle of the proton. Atoms
have many other things that are special and important to use, but one of the most useful thing is the
Periodic Table, a table of the chemical elements arranged in order of the atomic order. The most
important things for the history of the atom are the basic units of matter which make the atom

Subculture Of Violence
A cultural theory of violence states that among certain groups or sub culture there are norms and
cultural values that approves of violence rather than define it as deviant. This theory of violence
locates these pro violent norms among individuals and groups in lower strata, and thus, this group
comprises a subculture of violence. Culture includes the arts, beliefs, value, norms, tradition, customs
and man made artifacts. An individual learns the cultural values through the process of socialization.
These values are transferred from one generation to the other generation. A subculture is a part of a
larger culture. It is not totally different from the larger culture though it s some feature can be different
from the larger culture.

Aggression is a learned process. The society facilitates and promotes it. Aggression is integrated with
the society and it becomes the part of the personality of the individual. Basically, the subculture of
violence theory holds that the overt use of violence is generally a reflection of basic values that stand
apart from the dominant, the central, or the parent culture. This overt (and often illicit) use of violence
constitutes part of a sub cultural normative system that is reflected in the psychological traits of the
members of the subculture (Wolfgang and Ferracuti 1967). The dominant culture may not improve
these pro violent values and may penalize at the deviant act but more a person integrated to the
subculture of violence more the chance he own the characteristic of that subculture of violence.
Friends, peer group and family have an important role in this context. The individual whose peer
group or families are involved to use violence the more chances that he will use act of violence.
Ellison (1991) is of the view ―The southern subculture of violence theory suggests that individuals
socialized in the South learn to approve of violence in a wide range of situations and to view violence

The Importance Of The Bombing Of Cologne
Bombings of Cologne and Dresden
The bombings that took place in the 1940 s caused grave destruction for not only families but
significant amounts of Cologne and Dresden themselves. Each bombing had reasonings and that
resulted in drastic effects for Germany.
Before Cologne was bombed it had much significance in the eyes of the people that made a living in
the city and had lived there their whole life. Back in the Battle of Bulge the Germans were forced out
of France and in turn they used up all their reserves. Although the British and the Americans were
closing in on the Rhine River, the Germans were not about to let them take yet another piece of land

countries. Another piece of significance the building provides is from its architecture, the architecture
of the Cathedral represents the unification of Germany. The background information and the
significance of the cathedral itself and what it meant to many did not stop the Allies from dropping a
great number of aerial bombs on and all around the cathedral trying to create terror and destruction.
May 30, 1942 was the last day the city of Cologne was going to see their home and their city in its
normal state before it fell in the hands of the British. At approximately twelve fifteen the bombs
started falling from overhead. The sirens and the alarms startled the home owners and the families
living in Cologne. The planes above were not only dropping bombs but utilizing machine guns to

department stores become engulfed with flames. This was also when military targets became

The Importance Of Race In Waking Up White
As a white individual that grew up in a predominantly white town, I rarely talked about race when I
was growing. The only time I typically talked about race was when we studied the Civil Rights
movement in school, and even then it was only talked about in a historical context. Consequently,
prior to this class, I assumed that race was a biological difference of skin color and genetics. I thought
that people of other races would have a larger difference in genetic make up because race was a
genetic difference race between individuals. I then saw society using this difference as a means to
belittle certain races and favor others. However, after taking this class my understanding of how we
define race has changed dramatically. This class has proven my assumptions wrong, and shown me
that race is not biological but rather a social and historical construct created to ensure a racial
hierarchy. Debby Irving s book Waking Up White: And Finding Myself in the Story of Race helped
me to see that I never talked about race because I am part of the dominant culture. While in her class
at Wheelock College, Irving s African American classmate spoke about how she had to talk about race
because she is treated differently because of it. (Irving, 2014).Like Irving, I have white privilege that
allows me to not have to talk about race. Consequently, I always assumed that racial differences were
due to genetic variation. I found out that this assumption was wrong when I started reading Waking

Easyjet s critical success factor is built around its leading market position in European convenient
airports, low fares, and exceptional customer orientated services. However, the successful growth of
EasyJet has brought it into direct competition with Legacy Carriers and similar Low Cost Airlines.
This Report has been divided into three sections, the first section analyses the business model using
the four box framework: Customer Value Proposition, Profit Formula, Key resources and Key
processes. Easyjet s customer value proposition is based on providing low fares with customer
orientated services using key resources and processes such as standardized fleets and online booking
systems to maintain its cost structure which is a crucial component of its profit formula. Together with
this, to maximise revenue, a number of methods such as sophisticated yield management techniques
are in place.
The second section analyses the dependencies and constraints of the business model. Easyjet s
business continuity to an extent depends on IT systems, Processes at the London Luton Airport and
Markets where customers value low price and quality at the same time. Macroeconomic activities
outside its control such as industry consolidation, weakened consumer confidence, inflationary
pressure, competition, regulatory intervention, airport charges, and the rising cost of fuel are the
constraints that disrupt the viability of their business model.

The Ethics Of Scientific Knowledge
Cortni Volkman
7/30/2015
Science surrounds just about every aspect of human interaction but where does this scientific
knowledge come from? The communication of scientific knowledge trickles in a fashion opposite to
that of the filtration of water through a carbon scrubber, where the highest concentration of pure
scientific knowledge exists within the prestigious community of scientists and scientific knowledge
within the academic and public communities has to be filtered from the other particles of ideas,
leaving much room for interpretation. This paper will explore these different interactions among
various communities and how it shapes communication of scientific knowledge. One such community
is that of the very scientists who do the research and publications which supply much of the scientific
knowledge we know today. However, research and publishing is heavily time consuming and
expensive so many scientist must seek out funding. Bias, or a conflict of interest, can be argued to
exist in all aspects of science depending on when and how results are obtained. It is without discourse
than to argue that all research, even that done at collegiate level, has some amount of bias whether
from the funding received, the council from professors or advisors, or the availability of more
advanced technology to obtain data (Krimsky 2012). Such bias from technological means can even
limit what scientists can publish. Often the military relies on scientists for their expertise in

Influence Of Greek Folk Song
Greece sits at the crossroad between the Eastern and Western cultures of Asia and Europe. Being at
this critical junction, Greece has experienced the ebb and flow of two cultural currents which
subjected and allowed her to assimilate creatively diverse influences. Once Constantinople fell in
1453, completing the collapse of the Byzantine empire, there followed four hundred years of slavery
which greatly hindered the natural development of Hellenism and restricted its spiritual evolution.
This period was particularly harsh and had an inhibitive influence on Greek music. From the twelfth
or thirteenth century forward, an economically exhausted Byzantium was slowly collapsing due to
years of factional rebellion, religious disputes, western crusades and eastern invasions. While the new

As early as the first century A.D., ancient Greek tragedy, which at its peak of harmonious unity,
incorporated poetry, music and dance, had disintegrated into its component elements.
Actor tragedians continued to perform only certain parts of the dialogue of the tragedies, while others
with good voices sang the vocal parts. There also arose a gesticulator whose purpose was to illustrate,
with pantomimic gestures, what the actor tragedian was singing. This gradually transformed the old
Attic style of tragedy and comedy into the tragic pantomime style of the imperial Byzantine years that
included dance, mime, recitation and song. The reactions of the Church Fathers and the stream of
condemnatory decisions and excommunications issued by ecumenical synods indicate the popularity
of these spectacle concerts in multi ethnic Byzantium and the influence of the mime performances on

Report on Moore s Law
Moore s Law was first predicted in 1965 and hence adjusted in 1975 by Gordon Moore; and, it was
popularized by Carver Mead after the adjustment in 1975. In Moore s first law, it state a hypothesis
that that the number of transistor in a dense integrated circuit doubles approximately every two years.
The Moore s second law express which can be described as the economic side of Moore s Law
expresses that the cost of production of semiconductor fab would increase at a steady rate. In brief,
both of the Moore s Laws express the idea that the transistors in the integrated circuit will be doubled
every two years while the cost of the production will be halved at the same rate of doubling.
The Moore s Law was not such accurate from 1965 to 1975. At that time, the time for doubling is
about 12 months when the hypothesis was first in 1965. However, it decreased to about 18 24 months
in the last ten years. Therefore, many people thought the hypothesis was wrong. Even after the
adjustment of Moore s law, the questions still exist. Many people believed that development of
transistors would meet a physical limit leading to the end of Moore s law. However this time, the fact
prove that they were wrong. In that following 30 years, the Moore s Law was very accurate. As the
following diagram shows, the transistors in circuit was about 2300 in early 1970s. Then it increased to
29000 in the later 70s. Hence, the

The Influence Of Chivalry In Early Medieval Literature
Chivalry is a code of conduct which began in the middle ages, 449 1485. The mannerism was based
on a foundation of common morals and how to hold oneself socially then flourished into numerous
different aspects of life such as war and courtly love. Chivalry was then infiltrated into the military
and became a phenomenon among knights and how they should behave themselves in and out of war.
Chivalry and courtly love were practiced by nobility then trickled down to the working class where
they began to imitate it. Chivalry can be confused with feudalism which was (Schofield, Chivalry in

The Definition Of Noise Pollution
A. Noise Pollution
If we define Noise in a layman language, it is nothing but a disturbance which come out of result of
activities by Human being. There are many classic definition of Noise and thereby caused noise
pollution but this is apt to understand the importance of emerging issue which has not been addressed
from so long.
Noise is an outcome of developments. There is difference between Sound and Noise . As we
differentiate both, Noise turns out to be something which is not desirable and completely unwanted by
people who bear it. Unlike noise, sound is not a disturbance. When the sound becomes unreasonable,
it becomes noise.
Noise is a result of energy which is transmitted by cyclic series of compressions and rare fractions

Joy Is Not Just Happiness
In our everyday lives, joy has become synonymous with both happiness and pleasure. We have
diminished the meaning of the word by using it in place of the more appropriate terms in order to
provide emphasis. C.S. Lewis takes more literal definition of joy, and so assigns it more significance
in his mind, separating it from any other emotion. Though he acknowledges that oftentimes happiness
and pleasure occur simultaneously with joy, they are not the root cause, nor are they the same
emotion. I think the best distinction Lewis makes between happiness and pleasure is when he states
Joy... must have the stab, the pang, the inconsolable longing (Lewis 72). This look into the root of joy
demonstrates that joy is not just happiness, it is more complex and not always a fully positive emotion.
There can be sadness and longing behind the joy, but it does not diminish the great properties of joy.
Because joy is so great it is often sought, but as Lewis says it is never a possession, always a desire for
something longer ago or further away or still about to be (Lewis 78). The fleeting nature of joy only
adds to the intrigue, as it often comes at the most unexpected times. Lewis recognizes this, as he titled
the book Surprised by Joy. Lewis also thinks that one s definition of joy is constantly changing with
our experiences. As he learned more about some subject, one that used to bring him joy to study, he
realizes that this was something quite different from the original Joy.

The Comparison Of Teenage Slang
One popular trend that American adults notice is the use and variety of teenage slang. The teenage
slang trend had existed for a while, but with every new generation, words are being added on the list.
Often time on the news adults try to help parents decode the teen s language to understand what their
children are saying in text, the internet, and even in person. Teenage slag is a unique language that we
teens use to relate to each other. The slag is an important cultural value, because social media had
caused it to expand to not only the United States, but also teens all over the world are using the slang
to put more emphasis into what they are saying. The slang that we use helps the younger generation to
bond and relate to each other in text as well as in person. Teenage slang adds to the American cultural
values because it shows that as Americans we can be private and informal. As Americans, we tend to
value some things differently than other countries. Two examples of what we value are informality
and privacy. Especially in the teenage slang culture, teens tend to develop their own language simply
for the privacy of their parents. In the Values Americans Live By article it explains, In the United
States, privacy is not only seen as a very positive condition, but it is also viewed as a requirement that
all humans would find equally necessary, desirable and satisfying (Kohls). This sentence explains that
privacy is sometimes a good thing to have in American culture.

Plato And The Cave
In Plato s article The Republic he describes that we all exist as part of a society in which he refers to
as a cave. Plato says in the opening of this article Let me show in a figure how far our nature is
enlightened and unenlightened . With our heads restrained to a wall and not capable to perceive our
surrounding, we accept as true the shadows to be reality. He then goes on to explain that with a teacher
is the only way that we can move from our state of being a prisoner and moving into a new reality
beyond the cave and that we would discover the true reality to be painful, and then want to return to
the state of deception of the cave. He explains this by saying Plato also believes that we are all have

Essay On Social Class Discrimination
Social class discrimination is what one can observe every day in a life. People around the world have
the different social status which is caused either by their degree or family and finally, there own
personal efforts. As far as U.S. and Canada are concerned they also hold social discrimination but,
how it is caused and how it is either heredity or circumstance is different in each country. However, in
both countries the system is merit based and either class has the chance of growing up or coming
down and gain their own values. Nevertheless, in some odd cases, I personally believe the one s status
can be based on their ancestry s class which on this occasion only it may not be impartial.
Stratification is natural, inevitable, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nonetheless, there are some odd cases that one gains social class based on ancestry which personally I
can strongly say that it is not fair and most of them do not deserve that status. For example, in many
middle eastern countries, the new generation usually benefits from their father s social status, no
matter their own efforts. Additionally, this kind of ancestry based social class has always existed in the
world but in most countries, first world countries, governments stopped this system and opened the
path for each individual to grow. Moreover, regarding the effect of one s father social status, statistics
show that the father s economic status in the U.S. affects the child s social status more compared to
Canada. All in all, The U.S. has less economic mobility than Canada (Corak 2009). As in illustration,
if a family lives in the lower class it is more likely for their children to be also part of the lower class.
In my opinion, it is inevitable to stop this trend, due to the fact the opportunities that one faces in life
is strictly determined by what his/her family can provide.
Regarding incomes, the upper class has far more income than others. However, those are only the
minority of the world s population and they are usually wealthy because of their ancestors. For
instance, Donald Trump had been living in a wealthy family since he was born and currently he
possesses a significantly high net worth, however, he personally put

Star Wars Episode Vll-A Force Awakens
Director J.J. Abram s Star Wars: Episode Vll A Force Awakens is a great piece of film that surpassed
everyone s expectations. This is the seventh installment in the Star Wars franchise, and continues the
adventures of Han Solo, Princess Leia, and Chewbacca; along with some new faces. The highly
anticipated movie stayed true to the original trilogy by successfully incorporating themes of action,
adventure, suspense, fantasy, sci fi, and the dark side. There are three criteria, mostly the movies
ability to tell a great story, originality, and action packed scenes that made the movie a worth while
experience. This movie is also rated PG 13, so the whole family is welcome to experience the

Rhetorical Analysis Of Donald Trump Speech
Donald Trump and the revival of the American state: The president of United States on board with the
Americans on key issues The newly elected American president on 20th January 2017 addressed the
citizens of his state, the dignified world leaders and his adversaries. President Trump from the very
beginning of his speech addressed the protection of America and pointed out the protection of each of
the single American. His speech directed towards the presidents who had already served in the
American state. Moreover, repetitively he gave signs of warning to the enemies of the state. His
speech reflected those enemies, which are a threat to the world peace along with the survival of their
won country. His emphasis was over the revival in the American system, whether the education, health
or national security agendas. I think the speech of his evokes strong emotions towards the people of
America and using the phrase America first off and on makes the speech debatable for the other world
leaders. Repeating the words of the president project more interest and keep the audience engaged.
This is one of the targeted strategies of a strong speaker to keep the people lively and interactive. The
very last lines of his speech clearly denote the agenda he is willing to put in order to bring about
change for the American state. For instance, Together we will make America strong again.... America
wealthy again. We will make America proud again...... Will, make it safe again. And yes,

Wuthering Heights extremely disagreeable and its inhabitants bitter and unsociable. 2. Wuthering is

Heathcliff as sullen. 14. Nelly Dean is deceived completely in believing that Heathcliff was not

disappointed in Catherine and tells her to go pray. His treatment of her only hardens her and gives her
more pleasure in showing off her power over Heathcliff. 16. Thrushcross Grange has a more civilized
nature than Wuthering Heights. Wuthering Heights is personified by storms, stunted plants, and
characters that cannot fulfill their own passions with ease. Thrushcross Grange is more enclosed and is
not as much exposed to the bitter winds. Gardens and flowers are illustrated in reference to the
Grange, and this evokes a sense of optimism and beauty. The Grange is also more associated with
money and the material world than is Wuthering Heights, which is more connected to nature.
Thrushcross Grange protects the Linton family from Heathcliff and Wuthering Heights itself.

behaved, and dresses better. She is altogether more refined. 18.

Analysis Of The Moths By Helena Maria Viramontes
For many individuals, life may seem boring and pointless throughout most of their day. They might
feel empty at times and question themselves who they really are. Although most of their time is spent
doing tasks in their everyday lives, there are those interests in which they look forward to doing.
These interests may range depending on the person. It may be watching television for some, playing
games for others, or simply spending time with your loved ones in which you enjoy and make you feel
like yourself. This was the case for the individual in The Moths by Helena Maria Viramontes. She

of pride and full of joy when being along her side. I always felt her gray eye on me. It made me feel,
in a strange sort of way, safe and guarded and not alone. Like God was supposed to make you feel
(33). These were only things she experienced when being with her grandma. Although they would

interest in which the narrator took great joy in. With things such as cooking, cleaning or running
errands for her grandma she was able to be herself and enjoy the time in which she spent there.
Although those negative comments were her major conflict, this negativity also benefitted her in a
way. If it wasn t for those fights in which she would get into, she would not spend as much time as she
liked with her grandma. With all the time spent with her Grandma, she was able to find a relationship

Human Condition
One of the reasons the movement is so difficult to define is because many of these thinkers have
differing views on what the human condition is, which is at the center of the study of existentialism.
Something that is found to be common between many existentialist, though, is their consistent and
utter rejection to any and all systems, theories and organizational constructs that attempt to answer the
question of the human condition, and give value to our existence in a comprehensive approach
whether they are based in religion, science or philosophy.
One of the most historically outstanding systems which claims to explain some core existential
questions about the human condition is religion. Religion was something that filled the void of the
existential question for as long as humanity has existed, and alleviate the concern of creating meaning
and purpose. Existentialist thinkers have adopted the belief that following organized ... Show more

living on this earth and experiencing all the fears, anxieties, hopes and disappointments that are a part
of the human condition. For example, many of the mass organized religions often provide answers to
many of the vexing questions of life from the perspective of an all knowing and all powerful God,
whose word is thought to be communicated to us through prophets. However, existentialists stress that
what we most need is not a divine perspective of the human condition, but a human perspective, for as
Nietzsche put it we are ultimately, much to his chagrin, human, all too

Florida or swimming from Hawaii to Mexico. Mental journeys and spiritual journeys are similar in
many ways, except the purpose of a mental journey doesn t have as much of a religious motivation to
it. A mental journey can be pursuing to wake up with a positive attitude and to be kind to others. A

The Journey is about a physical and mental journey, but more towards the mental aspect. The way I
perceived the poem was that it is important for you to focus on mending your own life before trying to

deep message. The poem is referring to people giving bad advice, and making you hear their

as you strode deeper and deeper / into the world, / determined to do / the only thing you could do /

Causes Of Colorectal Cancer
Discussion
Colorectal cancer is still a critical issue and threatening society s health (36,37). Tumors have
developed different mechanisms for deceiving, counteracting, and onslaught the immune defense (38).
Tumor cells secret different soluble factors, cytokines, chemokines (16,38,39), and exosomes (40) that
recruit different heterogeneous supporting inflammatory cells such as B cells, T cells, mast cells,
fibroblasts, myofibroblasts, mononuclear cells (MNCs), macrophages and MDSCs in the TME. The

5, 6). These enhancement and decline in secreted cytokines level are probably are due to the autocrine
and paracrine impact of secreted soluble factors, exosomes, and cytokines releasing from tumour cells.
Secreted factors from tumor cells recruited monocytes from peripheral blood toward TME. Hence, the
level of secreted inflammatory cytokines related with inflammatory monocytes and M1 macrophages
increased (Table. II). Whereas, the level of secreted anti inflammatory cytokines related with anti
inflammatory monocytes and M2 macrophages decreased (Table. II).
This study, with consideration of inflammatory and anti inflammatory genes associated with
inflammatory and anti inflammatory monocytes, indicated that mononuclear cells were differentiated
towards inflammatory monocytes. Hence, we hypothesized that colorectal cancer conditioned media
(HT 29, and Caco 2) have an impact on the differentiation of monocytes isolated from PBMCs
towards inflammatory phenotype. Additionally, inflammatory monocytes secreted more inflammatory
cytokines.
Moreover, inflammatory and anti inflammatory monocytes and M1/M2 macrophages ratio were
increased through increasing inflammatory cytokines panel. Suggesting that M1/M2 ratio was higher
in CRC and infiltrating inflammatory monocytes and M1 macrophages might be dominating and

Summary Of The Hockey Sweater By Roch Carrier
Roch Carrier s The Hockey Sweater captures Canada s essence and the complexity between linguistic
and national tensions that was felt between the English and French Canadians. The story follows a
young boy living in a small village in Quebec as he navigates his way around hockey season, school,
and church. One day when his favorite hockey sweater has become too small for him and torn, his
mother gives him another that proves to be problematic in the young boy s life.
The story begins with all the village boys gathering to play hockey like their hero, Maurice Richard.
Carrier describes how each boy similarly dresses alike; with the red, white, and blue hockey sweater
like Maurice Richard. Wearing his number 9 of course and slicking their hair back with heavy
amounts of hair glue like Richard. This holds particular importance because Maurice Richard not only
was the best player in all of Canada, but the best French Canadian player. His figure alone represents
all children of French Canadian descent in Quebec. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

example, whenever Carrier mentions the Montreal Canadians jersey, it commences with red, white,
and blue. When he mentions that there are three places that they live, it s the school, church, and
skating rink. Religion plays an important role in many Canadiens lives, so the trifecta also represents
the holy trinity within the story. Furthermore, hockey analogies are shown when Carrier mentions
school. He describes it as a place where children are punished. The parents represent the hockey
referees and school the penalty box that they send them

  • 2. Fluorescence Spectroscopy And The Emission Wavelength Of... Abstract Fluorescent properties are used to study protein and small molecule interactions. Fluorescent spectrophotometry determined the excitation wavelength of eosin isothiocyanate to be 525 nm and its emission wavelength was 545 nm. Glycogen phosphorylase was similarly studied. The excitation wavelength was 330 nm and the emission wavelength was 360 nm. The emission wavelength could be indicative of the presence of the fluorophore, tryptophan. The potential interaction between bovine serum albumin (BSA) and 1 anilino 8 naphthalene sulfonic acid (ANS) was studied through fluorescence and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET). BSA had an emission wavelength of 358 nm which could also be indicative of a tryptophan. When BSA and ANS were mixed together, the emission wavelength was longer suggesting that the molecules interact with each other and follow FRET. Introduction Fluorescence spectroscopy is a useful technique to determine the proteins and nucleic acids of a macromolecule. Some molecules, fluorophores, can absorb light at certain wavelengths and then emit it at another wavelength. When the molecule absorbs light it is excitation and the light released is emission. The light particles, photons, hit a fluorophore to excite the molecule (Voet et. al 2013). Excitation occurs by the valence electrons of the molecule receiving energy and moving to a higher energy state from the ground state. The excited electrons will later return to the ground state because they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As one of China s greatest philosophers, Confucius was active, good natured person with a good sense of humor. During his time, many people were born in to social stature and tended to stay in that level of social strata throughout their lifetime. The Importance of the Sikh Turban and Muslim Hijab The Importance of the Sikh Turban and Muslim Hijab We live in a world where conflicts between religions have existed since the beginning of time. Some emerge from the discipline itself; others have been imported, in whole part from disciplines such as economics or sociology. Societal ideas, interests, and institutions influence state behaviour by shaping state preferences, that is, the fundamental social purposes underlying the strategic calculations of governments. For liberals, the configuration of state preferences matters most in world politics, not as realists argue , the configuration of capabilities and not as, institutionalists (that is functional regime theorists) maintain, the configuration of information and institution. According to Donelan (1990: 24), the central point in realism is then that sometimes we as persons and still more important as associations are made moral, for we have a common power over us; the state. He goes on further to say that we are not made moral, there is no common power, and that is international relations as the frontiers of the state are the limits of morals which on one side we have security of the state, on the other the bleak wastes of international relations, where the states and great associations confront each other in cold ... Qrt Floods Essay The weather of the months leading up to the South East Queensland floods not only gives an indication of the weather patterns before the flood, but shows the continuity and change in the weather, which ended up causing this catastrophic natural disaster. The SE QLD floods was the result of a continuum of a build up of conditions, which can be seen in the synoptic charts. As seen in the Mid September month, there were many high pressure systems of 1025+ hectopascals affecting australia, in particular the south west areas of the country. • 10. History And Science Of The Atom History of the Atom By Karina Vazquez Period: 4 May 11, 2016 Mr.Sanchez Chemistry B The atom is an important thing in the world of science and chemistry. The atom might have started on a different point of view on how the atom works. There were many different people who had many good and different ideas on how to use the atom and what it was used for. Democritus was one of many other philosopher and scientists that wanted to start the discovery of the atom. He got the name atom from a Greek word, atomos which means that everything is uncut table. The atom was discovered by Ernest Rutherford while he was doing an experiment in 1911 1919. Ernest Rutherford suggested at first that the atoms orbited around atomic the nucleus, just like the planets. Atoms are basic units of matter that are made of protons, neutrons, and electrons. Protons and neutrons are particles that are found in the center of the atom, and the electrons are particles that are found in shells that orbit around the nucleus of the atom. The nucleus was discovered in 1911, by Ernest Rutherford and it is known for holding the protons and neutrons, and it s also in the middle of the proton. Atoms have many other things that are special and important to use, but one of the most useful thing is the Periodic Table, a table of the chemical elements arranged in order of the atomic order. The only time I typically talked about race was when we studied the Civil Rights movement in school, and even then it was only talked about in a historical context. Consequently, prior to this class, I assumed that race was a biological difference of skin color and genetics. I thought that people of other races would have a larger difference in genetic make up because race was a genetic difference race between individuals. I then saw society using this difference as a means to belittle certain races and favor others. However, after taking this class my understanding of how we define race has changed dramatically. This class has proven my assumptions wrong, and shown me that race is not biological but rather a social and historical construct created to ensure a racial hierarchy. Debby Irving s book Waking Up White: And Finding Myself in the Story of Race helped me to see that I never talked about race because I am part of the dominant culture. While in her class at Wheelock College, Irving s African American classmate spoke about how she had to talk about race because she is treated differently because of it. The communication of scientific knowledge trickles in a fashion opposite to that of the filtration of water through a carbon scrubber, where the highest concentration of pure scientific knowledge exists within the prestigious community of scientists and scientific knowledge within the academic and public communities has to be filtered from the other particles of ideas, leaving much room for interpretation. This paper will explore these different interactions among various communities and how it shapes communication of scientific knowledge. One such community is that of the very scientists who do the research and publications which supply much of the scientific knowledge we know today. However, research and publishing is heavily time consuming and expensive so many scientist must seek out funding. Bias, or a conflict of interest, can be argued to exist in all aspects of science depending on when and how results are obtained. It is without discourse than to argue that all research, even that done at collegiate level, has some amount of bias whether from the funding received, the council from professors or advisors, or the availability of more advanced technology to obtain data (Krimsky 2012). There also arose a gesticulator whose purpose was to illustrate, with pantomimic gestures, what the actor tragedian was singing. We have diminished the meaning of the word by using it in place of the more appropriate terms in order to provide emphasis. C.S. Lewis takes more literal definition of joy, and so assigns it more significance in his mind, separating it from any other emotion. Though he acknowledges that oftentimes happiness and pleasure occur simultaneously with joy, they are not the root cause, nor are they the same emotion. I think the best distinction Lewis makes between happiness and pleasure is when he states Joy... must have the stab, the pang, the inconsolable longing (Lewis 72). This look into the root of joy demonstrates that joy is not just happiness, it is more complex and not always a fully positive emotion. There can be sadness and longing behind the joy, but it does not diminish the great properties of joy. Because joy is so great it is often sought, but as Lewis says it is never a possession, always a desire for something longer ago or further away or still about to be (Lewis 78). The fleeting nature of joy only adds to the intrigue, as it often comes at the most unexpected times. Lewis recognizes this, as he titled the book Surprised by Joy. Lewis also thinks that one s definition of joy is constantly changing with our experiences. As he learned more about some subject, one that used to bring him joy to study, he realizes that this was something quite different from the original Joy. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Additionally, this kind of ancestry based social class has always existed in the world but in most countries, first world countries, governments stopped this system and opened the path for each individual to grow. Moreover, regarding the effect of one s father social status, statistics show that the father s economic status in the U.S. affects the child s social status more compared to Canada. • 38. Human Condition One of the reasons the movement is so difficult to define is because many of these thinkers have differing views on what the human condition is, which is at the center of the study of existentialism. Something that is found to be common between many existentialist, though, is their consistent and utter rejection to any and all systems, theories and organizational constructs that attempt to answer the question of the human condition, and give value to our existence in a comprehensive approach whether they are based in religion, science or philosophy. One of the most historically outstanding systems which claims to explain some core existential questions about the human condition is religion. Religion was something that filled the void of the existential question for as long as humanity has existed, and alleviate the concern of creating meaning and purpose. For example, many of the mass organized religions often provide answers to many of the vexing questions of life from the perspective of an all knowing and all powerful God, whose word is thought to be communicated to us through prophets. The way I perceived the poem was that it is important for you to focus on mending your own life before trying to fix anyone else s. The poem is short...matter of fact only 36 lines, but it still manages to portray a very deep message. The poem is referring to people giving bad advice, and making you hear their problems, and trying to have you fix their struggles in life. Mend my life! is what they cry so that you can stop focusing on your life and worry about theirs. The narrator didn t stop to worry about the others because she knew she had to worry about herself and she was the only person she would save, as you strode deeper and deeper / into the world, / determined to do / the only thing you could do / determined to save / the only life you could save (Oliver, The Journey, Line: 31 36). These enhancement and decline in secreted cytokines level are probably are due to the autocrine and paracrine impact of secreted soluble factors, exosomes, and cytokines releasing from tumour cells. Secreted factors from tumor cells recruited monocytes from peripheral blood toward TME. Hence, the level of secreted inflammatory cytokines related with inflammatory monocytes and M1 macrophages increased (Table. II). Whereas, the level of secreted anti inflammatory cytokines related with anti inflammatory monocytes and M2 macrophages decreased (Table. II). This study, with consideration of inflammatory and anti inflammatory genes associated with inflammatory and anti inflammatory monocytes, indicated that mononuclear cells were differentiated towards inflammatory monocytes. Hence, we hypothesized that colorectal cancer conditioned media (HT 29, and Caco 2) have an impact on the differentiation of monocytes isolated from PBMCs towards inflammatory phenotype. Additionally, inflammatory monocytes secreted more inflammatory cytokines. Moreover, inflammatory and anti inflammatory monocytes and M1/M2 macrophages ratio were increased through increasing inflammatory cytokines panel. • 41. Summary Of The Hockey Sweater By Roch Carrier Roch Carrier s The Hockey Sweater captures Canada s essence and the complexity between linguistic and national tensions that was felt between the English and French Canadians. The story follows a young boy living in a small village in Quebec as he navigates his way around hockey season, school, and church. One day when his favorite hockey sweater has become too small for him and torn, his mother gives him another that proves to be problematic in the young boy s life. The story begins with all the village boys gathering to play hockey like their hero, Maurice Richard. Carrier describes how each boy similarly dresses alike; with the red, white, and blue hockey sweater like Maurice Richard. Wearing his number 9 of course and slicking their hair back with heavy amounts of hair glue like Richard. This holds particular importance because Maurice Richard not only was the best player in all of Canada, but the best French Canadian player.
