Trang Nguyen Research Paper
Trang Nguyen is a 44 year old tailor, barber, nail painter, and is a mom. She was born in Vietnam, Bà
Rịa. Mrs. Nguyen grew up wanting to tailor, or tailor teacher. She moved to California, with Mr. Tran,
my dad, to live with my grandma and grandpa, who first moved to California.. She went to Evergreen
Valley college, and has been sewing clothes since, well I m not sure, probably since I was born. Her
friend offered her a job, to help her sew clothes. They were pretty close friends. She would work there
in her house, and my brother and I would also be there, but getting babysitted by my mom s boss.
Later, in 2016 or so, another of my mom s friends offered her jobs. She accepted, now she paints nails

St Valentine s Day Massacre Research Paper
Crime, murder, and gangs were taking a hold of Chicago and one defining moment shocked everyone.
Two gangs, the Italian Sicilian mob and the Irish Jewish crew, had high tensions leading to many
confrontations. But the problems between the two seemed to stop after the St. Valentine s Day
Massacre on February 14, 1929. Then, the hunt for those responsible started. The crime itself involved
many people, killed many people, and even had effects after the crime. There were many well known
people of Chicago in the two groups and high tensions between gangs that would eventually lead up to
the St. Valentine s Day Massacre. The two gangs, the Italian Sicilian mob and the Irish Jewish crew,
had many confrontations but one stood out. Dion O´Banion, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Moran and his gang after the attack, had been able to hold their territory for some time, but never
really came back from the massacre ( Feb. 2). Moran s gang had also lost a lot of strength and power
in Chicago in a short time (Benson, 1). One of the surviving victims, Frank Gusenberg, could have put
the case to rest, serving those responsible, but when asked who shot him, he said, No one shot me ,
and the case was left unsolved when Gusenberg later died from his wounds ( Saint 1). The two leaders
of the attack, were the ones with the strongest alibis. Al Capone and McGurn were not charged for the
crime and seemed to be free, but one gunman, Fred Burke, was arrested for the murder of a police
officer and not for the crime (Rosenberg, 3). Although Capone was not arrested for the crime, it did
put him on the federal government s radar and they had him arrested in 1931 for tax evasion
(Rosenberg, 4). McGurn did not fare well either. One day, after the seventh anniversary of the
massacre, he was gunned down in a bowling alley, ending his career (Rosenberg, 4). The massacre
was however, the last time Capone and Moran interfered with each other. This was because Bugs was
arrested in 1946 for small time robberies and later died in jail from lung cancer. Furthermore, Capone
was arrested in 1931 ( Valentine s 2). Even though many thought they knew who ordered the attack,

Theories Of Experiential Learning Theory
Meanwhile, the Theory of Experiential Learning Cycle by David Kolb (Kolb, 1984) is also relevant to
this study. Experiential Learning Theory (ELT) defines learning as the process whereby knowledge is
created through the transformation of experience . Knowledge is a product from the combination of
both grasping and transforming experience. According to him the Experiential Learning Theory model
portrays two dialectically related modes of grasping experience; Concrete Experience and Abstract
Conceptualization, and two dialectically relevant modes of transforming experience; Reflective
Observation and Active Experimentation. Experiential learning is a process of formulating knowledge
that involves a creative tension between the four learning modes that is responsive to contextual
demands. This process is portrayed as an ideal learning cycle or spiral where the ... Show more

These modes are only responsive to certain contexts. Thus, the learning process is portrayed as a
learning cycle where the learner assumes each of the four domains; experiencing, reflecting, thinking,
and acting (Kolb Kolb, 2005). The recursive process is responsive to each other; the learner, learning
experience, and on the content learned. Immediate or concrete experiences are the impetus for
observations and reflections. Without these learning would be impossible even at the very beginning.
Later on, reflections then can be assimilated in the old experience and deduced it into abstract
concepts from which new implications for action are drawn. These new implications are then used for
active experimentation, which leads to new concrete experiences (Kolb Kolb, 2005). With the
production of new concrete experiences it already leads us into a complete cycle of learning under

I Am A Holistic Thinker
3. How does your orientation in these 6 areas compare with the expectations of our society? (School,
jobs, relationships) Explain.
My orientation in the six areas may or may not compare with the expectations of our society. I am
time oriented. This is a very American way of thinking. American schools, businesses, and homes
often have a clock in every room, and nearly everyone wears a watch. Each day is organized into time
periods of specific length, and use of each period is fully planned. Anniversaries, dates, and historical
chronologies also have special importance.
I am a holistic thinker. This orientation tends to be present in Hebrew and other non western cultures
while dichotomistic thinking lies primarily in the west. This tends to be because westerners tend to use
the left hemisphere of the brain which is analytical, logical, precise, and time sensitive, while the non
western cultures use the right hemisphere which is holistic, emotional, pattern recognition, and
sensory. Although hemispheric dominance limits the creativity of individuals and cultures, the general
tendency is towards extremes. Western schooling and religious denominations suppress the concrete,
emotional, and synthetic thinkers, while non western cultures suppress their analytic and abstract
thinkers.
I am also more non crisis oriented than crisis oriented. My orientation is seen more in non American
societies. An example is the American military system. They have a set code of

Internal And External And Internal Pressure On Media...
External and Internal Pressure on Media Journalists
Journalists are professional people, trying to work within a code of professional ethics. However,
journalists cannot operate in a vacuum, doing what they think is right without pressures being put on
them. Journalists face pressure from a variety of sources, all trying to make the journalist behave in a
way which is not the way the journalist would choose.
Employer:
Your boss pays your salary. In return, they expect to say how you will do your job. This can lead to
ethical problems for journalists.
If you work for a government owned news organization, then your government will be your employer.
This could make it very difficult for you to report critically on things which the government is doing.
Ministers will often put pressure on public service journalists to report things which are favorable to
the government (even when they are not newsworthy) and not to report ... Show more content on

For example, a journalist who is deeply opposed to capital punishment may be writing a story about
crime. In the course of gathering the information, they may interview somebody who calls for the
death penalty as the answer to increasing crime. The journalist may be tempted not to report these
comments, and to leave the question of capital punishment out of the story. This would clearly be
unethical.
It is as bad to censor the news to suit your own views as it is to censor the news to please your family,
or clan, or tribe. This is contrary to the most fundamental principle of free speech that we may
disagree with what somebody says, but that we must fight to defend their right to say it. See Chapter
57: Fairness for a fuller discussion of this principle.
It is not only the things you really believe in which may cause problems. Some journalists accept
contracts to advertise products, as a way of earning some extra money. You must think carefully
before you do

The Between Food And Culture
The United States has long been known as a melting pot because most of its people are descended
from immigrants. The immigrants come to USA for a better life so they leave their own country and
decide to call it home. Most of the immigrants live in New York in this city, so we can see the
variation in people and culture. Basically the immigrants leave their country but they don t leave their
culture. They want to maintain their culture and one of the way to maintain their culture is food. Not
only that but also many people want to introduce their culture to other, that s why they open
restaurant. Sometimes people open a restaurant in a diverse area and they cook food combining the
recipe of different countries so the place plays an important role for the people who are not even from
that culture. From that, we can see that food can easily combine any culture without changing their
own culture. When given the task to find a restaurant that has represents the connection between food
and culture a restaurant that comes in my mind was Sagar Restaurant located in 169 street in Jamaica,
Queens. Though Sagor restaurant is a Bangladeshi, Indian style Chinese restaurant, it represents the
interaction between various groups of Asian immigrants through food and it also reminds Bangladeshi
people about their country. The percentage of Asian race and Black race in Jamaica are all higher than
other races and least percentages of races in Jamaica is Native Hawaiian and American Indian

The History Of Pizza By Matt Lezotte
The History of Pizza By Matt Lezotte
Pepperoni? Sausage? Olive? It seems like everyone likes pizza whether its one way or another. Pizza
has become the most common favorite food among Americans and you can see it s popularity all over
the world. People crave it so much that now you don t need to leave your home to get a slice of pie.
Even in Italy pizza vending machines are starting to appear. Every second about 300 pizza slices are
about to be eaten. The trend has no end in sight and with chains like pizza hut finding ways to reinvent
the pizza people will likely keep buying those delicious slices of joy. But where did pizza begin?
Many know it started in Italy but most just assume it has been around forever. The early ideas of pizza
didn t even come to be since the 1700 s. Pizza started in Naples. Soon immigrants lead to the first
sightings of pizza in America. Then New York wanted to make pizza easy and inexpensive. Chicago
reinvented it so one could eat with a fork and knife. Pizza keeps evolving and growing and it is truly
one of the best inventions ever to exist. But it started as something only a poor man would eat. The
origins of pizza trace back to around the late 1700 s. People ate flat bread with cheese on it and
sometimes a sauce was added. This was mildly popular but often the flatbread would contain fancy
oils and herbs with fine cheese on top. Many higher ranked Italiens would eat flatbread but with oils
and herbs on top to make it taste

The Humanitarian Crisis in Chechnya
The situation in Chechnya is out of hand, a senseless echo of Stalin in a day where the expression of
such rank evil should not occur or be tolerated. An interview with a local Chechen refugee solidified
my understanding of the situation. However, meeting a survivor face to face also made the situation
seem more real and therefore much more painful. When asked to comment on the film Crying Sun,
my subject took a deep breath. This is just like what happened in our village, she said. There were land
mines everywhere. The paratroopers came a lot. Once we ran to the neighbor s house barefoot, just
like the woman in the movie said. They looted from our homes too. My cousins died. Many Chechens
have lived in their respective villages not just for generations, but for centuries. My interview subject
revealed her knowledge that many of her ancestors from a long time ago were Jewish, and that some
of the people trace their tribal lineage to the Biblical times. There is a sense of senselessness to the
killing that transcends rational thought. The so called rebels have been painted as terrorists by the
skillful propaganda machine; any rational analysis of the situation in Chechnya reveals the real truth.
As Rodrigue (2008) points out, Chechnya is important for the Russians because of access to strategic
oil reserves in the Caucasus. Although some of the Caucasus nations obtained their independence, like
Georgia and Armenia in the southern Caucasus, the new Russian

Speech On Goats
Goats (Capra hircus) One of the earliest animals to be tamed by mankind is goats (Capra hircus). A
thousand years have passed since these creatures were initially domesticated by man back in West
Asia and have spread internationally since then. Goats are animals with a wide ecological spread,
which makes them as a very common type of animal. Their physical features include a thick body,
cloven hooves, and horns. In 1758, Carl Linnaeus gave Capra hircus as the goat s Latin name. Goats
are divided into two main types: domestic goats (Capra hircus) and mountain goats (Oreamnos
americanus). Domestic goats are the goats that we typically see being raised and bred in farms,
meanwhile mountain goats are found living in steep, rocky areas specifically in ... Show more content

Although they are herbivores, they are known to eat and chew on almost everything that they find in
their surroundings including cardboard boxes and tin cans. They practice this eating habit in order to
determine to find out if the food is good enough to eat. Goats are curious creatures. They love to
explore anything new that they see in their surroundings. They can move easily and quickly. Goats are
well known for their ability to climb and balance in uncertain places. Goats have an important stand
precisely in the world of agriculture and animal husbandry. Raising goats have been, for many of
years now, a feasible form of livelihood especially for Filipinos working in farms. Some consider
raising goats as their ultimate source of income for their everyday needs. A certain range of dairy
products can be produced from its milk, including cheese, buttermilk, yogurt, sour cream, and the milk
itself as a beverage. In comparison with cow milk, goat milk contains less sugar (lactose), 134% more
potassium, 47% more vitamin A, 25% more vitamin B6, and 13% more calcium. Goat milk is also less
allergenic, easier to digest, naturally homogenized, and rarely causes lactose intolerance. Cows (Bos

Music With Profanity Research Paper
Music with Profanity Every parent out there wants absolutely nothing but the best for their children. In
life, parents will do anything to make sure their kids have more than what they did. They strive to
make sure their kids to do whatever it takes to become successful in this world. As you are raised, you
are taught to never talk to strangers, always respect your elders, and never use profanity. Our parents
were raised in a whole different domain before we were brought into this world. So many daily things
have changed, from the way we turn on the television in the morning to how we get to school or work.
Things have transformed; for example, explicit music was not criticized as much as it is now because
music was very monitored back then. In those days, profanity wasn t ever heard of because it was
banned in almost every household. Music containing profanity does not appeal to most adults because
of their maturity level and values in life; but it does appeal to teens because of their maturity level,
rebellious behavior, and their naive mindset. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

taught that if you can t say it in church then it shouldn t be said at all therefore you shouldn t listen to
something that can t be said in church. They feel like profanity only appeals to us as teens because we
can t use them on a regular basis which gives teens that feel of power while listening to these songs.
Profanity is a noun that has impacted so many people in this world. It is combined with music which
surrounds us on a daily basis: how do parents not expect it to not be heard? This type of music is
always being looked down upon because parents feel their children will turn this in to a rebellious
action when in reality we listen to this music because it has a great rhythm or

Amazon throughout the years has expanded their facilities throughout the U.S and growing at a rapid
pace in rest of the world in the past five years. Amazon was able to develop business in the Midwest
as well as in the Southern State. One of their main focus is to build many headquarters and facilities

Family Guy Is An American Sitcom
Texas Longhorns football fans often use a specific hand gesture when rooting for their team; by
holding up the fore and pinkie fingers while keeping the middle and ring fingers down, using the
thumb to hold the middle and ring fingers in position, they make bull horns. However, if a Longhorns
fan were to make this same gesture in Spain, it would be an offensive gesture that means to have sex
with someone else s wife. All people, and even animals, uses communication to transmit messages.
However, many factors can warp or change what the sender is trying to communicate. The Texas fan
intended to use the hand gesture as a positive message in support of a sports team, but due to the
difference in cultural identity, the receiver interpreted it as something very different. Cultural identity,
along with stereotyping, language and nonverbal cues, plays a large role in affecting communication
between individuals and can be seen anywhere from conversations between friends, to business

to transmit humorous messages to audiences. The cartoon is about a white suburbian family named the

The Little Girl
We first hear the word power in our lifetime often when we are children. Usually in a question what is
your favorite super power ? Most children answer with abnormal abilities such as flying or invisibility.
In its most innocent way power is inherent we think of it as an ability. However as most children grow
up they learn that power isn t always on the good guys side. Power is defined as what enables one
person to control the behaviors of others . Power turns into a struggle from teacher to student, parents
to children, and any other relationship we possess.
Children for example need guidance and protection, therefore being a perfect example of the power
dynamic legitimate power. Legitimate power can be found within our culture and society from our
education system to our own respective family lives. Although many situations are different there is
likely someone seen in a position of power based off nothing more than their position in your life.
This can be seen in the movie crash where the little girl (Lara) believes and inherently trusts her father
(Danial). He has a right of power based on the fact he s her father which allows a level of trust, and
feeling of safety for the little girl. Furthermore legitimate power can also be found in work place
environments where employer and employee relationship are in continuous power struggles. This
happened when Cameron Thayer was approached by his superior to re do a scene when the producer

dependencies and mini states that specialize in export of services and relatively high per capita
incomes. The more populous islands and the Guianas still have large agricultural sectors and relatively
low per capita incomes. The economic diversity within the Caribbean reflects the inequalities and
uneven development characteristic of the world capitalist economy. And intra Caribbean diversity was
addressed in the plantation models. Best Levitt saw regional integration as a complement to changing
internal structures of production and accumulation. The plantation economy school is at its strongest
when it analyses the coincidence of class and race relations in the plantation societies and the bases on
ethnic antagonism in ethnically plural plantation societies like Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana. The
model is strongest in its pure plantation economy version where it represents the situation of island
economies in which slave plantation was the dominant unit of production as in British and French
west indies islands. Where slave plantations were not dominant as in the Hispanic islands or were part
of continental hinterlands.
Wolf saw the plantation as a class structures system. He believed that there was an old style and new

producing the surplus and also feed the owner, his family, service him, and to feed the workforce. The

What Is The Ewell In To Kill A Mockingbird
Understanding is a difficult thing. Some people believe that you can understand after hearing the facts,
and others are convinced that you must walk a mile in a person s shoes before knowing what it is like
to live their life. I would agree with one of the two aforementioned claims, but I believe that my life is
just not worth understanding. Some may say that is absurd, or hopeless, or dark. But you clearly do
not understand.
I am a Ewell.
For anyone living in my small, hole in the wall town called Maycomb, that would be enough. Four

waste littered the lawn, but not enough to cover Mayella s beloved geraniums. They were the brightest
shade of scarlet red you d ever seen, but you would almost miss them as you passed by on the street.
They were her form of faith, her aspiration to live with some dignity. I don t know if she knows, but I

the grayscale of our life. Some days I dreamt of being my own geranium, of being able to project

only think in these preposterous ways some of the time. Most of the time I only see the dirt, the grime,
and the poverty, or I see the mess that has become my father, or how trapped Mayella truly is.

Effects Of Magnesium On Botany
Magnesium is an essential mineral in the diets of cattle. It is necessary for the normal and healthy
function of the animal s body. In healthy cattle, the concentration of magnesium in the blood is
approximately 2.25 mg/100 mL of blood, and it is very important that this magnesium level is
maintained to ensure the wellbeing of the animal (Kellems, 2010). A deficiency in magnesium, either
because the diet does not provide enough or because the magnesium cannot be absorbed due to other
factors, can lead to major issues in the cow s health. Hypomagnesemic tetany, commonly known as
grass tetany, is a disease that can lead to fatality caused by a deficiency of magnesium in the animal s
body. This disease most commonly occurs in lactating beef cows ... Show more content on

Magnesium influences the membrane potentials of neurons, keeping the resting potential further from
threshold, so that the neurons requiring a larger amount of stimuli to send signals from neuron to
neuron and result in muscle contractions and extensions. When magnesium is not within the proper
range in the body, the resting potential of the neurons remain closer to threshold, so less stimuli is
required to move the action potential down the neurons and cause the contraction of muscles. This is a
major problem associated with grass tetany (Fentenot et al, 1988). Symptoms of grass tetany are
commonly not observed in time to save the cows. Symptoms of the disease include the cow appearing
to be blind, excitable, and suffering from convulsions. In less severe cases, the cow will be more
sensitive to touch and sound she typically is, urinate often, and appear stiff and uncomfortable. If any
of these signs are seen that indicate tetany, the cow should be placed on magnesium solution IV. Often,
the cow is discovered dead without any symptoms being witnessed because once the convulsions
begin, the animal will most likely die within a few hours (Stewart,

Medea and Jason and the Golden Fleece are two well known Greek stories. In both these stories the
Olympian gods in the stories play important roles that affect the lives of both Jason and Medea. The
behaviors of these two character also have a great contrast between them. In the story of Jason and the
Golden Fleece , Jason is the son of Aeson who is the legitimate king of Iolcus, in Thessaly. Aeson s
half brother Pelias steals the throne away from Aeson making himself the new king of Iolcus. Jason is
the rightful heir to the thrown but his father feared for his life and sent him to live with the centaur
Cheiron. In time Jason wanted to know of his parents and wanted to reclaim the royal ... Show more

For Medea must fall in love with Jason and then she will use her great skill with magic to help Jason
acquire the fleece. Because of Hera s hatred towards Pelias Medea s life is now destined for extreme
agony, shame, and guilt. Her love for Jason causes her to tear away from her loving parents and
dishonor her father by helping his enemy. Hera s plan to avenge Pelias also flood Medea s head with
thoughts to keep her from straying from Hera s plan. Unfortunately for Medea her decision to help
Jason was not her own and was a careful thought out plan by Hera. Her life would never again be the
same. Even though Jason promises to love her always and promises that she will be his wedded wife,
he breaks this promise as soon as she become old and he is given the opportunity to marry royalty.
Medea decisions were not in any way wise but if it were not for the arrows of Eros she would have
had better judgment on the stranger. Medea s behavior in this story shows that of loyalty and
confusion in her heart. She is in agony because she can not conceive as to why she feels so much love
for a stranger and does not wish to dishonor her father by doing so. But then she is constantly

Hellcat Challenger Research Paper
If you think about it the Challenger is a huge part of muscle car history. It s been in a couple movies
but the most iconic ones are Gone in Sixty Seconds and Fastlane. But my article here is about the
Hellcat Challenger. The Hellcat challenger is the upper street performance package that Dodge called
the Skat Pack in the 1970s. But my opinion on which is better is that the older one is better. Let me tell
you why. For one, This car is a beast you can get this beast of an engine that is the 426 Hemi or you
could get this straight six 145 and anything in between but still the car itself you could get this Skat
Pack on your Challenger and it would be basically a whole new car. Another reason that this car is a
beast is that this is a car that came late in the muscle car game. The Mustang, GTO, and the Camaro
are already ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also the Shaker hood is a nice addition to the Hellcat body style. And in the 70s this car was the thing
to drive. This thing was so cool that if you were driving it then you were automatically cool. No
matter your social status. This is the paragraph that leads into what s cool about the new Hellcat
Challenger. The 2015 2016 Hellcat Challenger is way better then like any of the original Challengers
not the Hellcat but any of the other Challengers. These cars are the prime example of why Dodge is
one of the best car manufacturers in the world. The new Hellcat Challenger has a new transmission
that you can change the gearing to make performance better. You can use Sport mode and Track mode
so you can use them for faster times. Also they have 4 different engines. 3 V8 Hemis and one V6
(boo) This is the brand new Hellcat 6.2L Hemi engine. This is what is put in the new
Challengers/Chargers. This beast can push out over 700hp of power. But soon enough the V8 is going
go away and everything is going to V6s which sucks but that s how things are going

Heidegger s Experiment Dr. Heidegger is yet another scientist who portrays selfishness by
experimenting on human beings knowing that the results will be the experimentees emotional and
physical destruction. At the beginning of the short story Dr. Heidegger calls four of his friends to his

Knowing that the three men had all fought over the one woman in the past, Dr. Heidegger secretly
invites the four experimentees to the laboratory to watch them fight in an experiment. During the
experiment, as expected, Dr. Heidegger eggs on a fight between the three men. When the woman asks
the scientist to dance and he says, My dancing days were over long ago. But these three young men

Gun Control Is Bad
Gun control is people control. A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State,
the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Without our second amendment
right the people of the United States of America would be susceptible to abuse from a tyrannical
government, and unable to defend themselves from the criminals within society. The theory of gun
control has become a controversial topic due to recent mass shootings that call into question the safety
of the people of this great country. The fact is that gun control does not work. The city of Chicago
Illinois is a prime example. Chicago has some of the strictest gun control laws in the country, as well
as one of the highest crime rates in the country. On the other hand in Kennesaw Georgia every resident
in the city is required by law to own at least one firearm. Immediately after passing their unusual gun
law crime rates fell dramatically, so much so that in two thousand eleven through two thousand
thirteen there were no murders, twenty two robberies, and no rape cases. (Wm. Craig Graydon) If a
bill was passed into law banning firearms there would be no way to collect these weapons from
criminals, only from the law abiding citizens. Even in a perfect world were the government would be
able to take every gun from every citizen, the criminals would still be able to smuggle or make
homemade firearms such as pen guns, and innocent people would be unable to protect themselves.

In Just Ee Cummings Summary
Analysis of E.E. Cummings In Just
Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience
that reveals the human spirit (BrainyQuote). Edward Estlin Cummings (most commonly known as
E.E. Cummings) proves this quote to be accurate because Cummings takes those risks to make his
poems very spontaneous and out there such as in r p o p h e s s a g r . This 19th century poet made
great poems that won many honors and awards such as the Dial award and many more. Cummings
believed in his style of poetry, he took those risks that other people thought wouldn t pay off, but by
sticking to his structure he created a unique style of poetry that expressed him as a writer, and
ultimately made him famous. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The setting of this poem occurs outside in spring. Where children are playing and doing what one
would see all little kids doing, playing hopscotch, playing in the mud, and dancing around. This poem
is an auditory as well as a visual read. It s meant to be read aloud, even the title becomes part of the
poem itself. The poem itself visually takes the reader along the trail in the park in early spring when
little children are running around and when the sun is out and shining bright. Cummings has a sort of
odd structure to this poem making it look like it dances around to go with the theme of playfulness and
dancing. The line Spring when the world is mud luscious (cummings,1) goes with the title of
Cummings poem it plays into the theme of it all. Also, the line and bettyandisbel come dancing from
hop scotch and jump rope (Cummings,13 14) relates to the theme because of how the names are
scrunched together symbolizing how a child would talk, and the hop scotch and jump rope being the
children playing. Therefor the poem In just by E.E Cummings represents a child s world and their
innocence and playfulness. Cummings expresses himself in this poem with metaphors such as when
the world is mud luscious ( Poetry

Disordered Eating and the Media Essay
The media constantly sends out an influx of images and messages promoting an almost unattainable
unrealistic image of beauty, that has consistently been linked to disordered eating and body
dissatisfaction, predominantly among girls but can also be seen in boys. Throughout the years the
ideal body shape has progressed from voluptuous and curvaceous an image Marilyn Monroe emulated
to a slimmer and leaner frame in congruence with high fashion models such as Kate Moss (Katzmarzk
Davis, 2001). Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia nervosa affect between 1% and 4% of young adult
females (American Psychiatric Association, 1994). Eating disorders have been linked to body shapes
and images present in the media (Shorter, Brown, Quinton Hinton, 2008). ... Show more content on

In another study, Heinberg and Thompson (1995) showed ten minute videotapes of commercials to
female students at a college that glamorized thinness or contained non appearance related images.
Women who viewed the videotape that contained images that emphasized the importance of thinness
in regards to beauty, were found to have higher levels of depression, anger, weight dissatisfaction, and
overall appearance dissatisfaction. In fact women with high dispositional levels of internalization
showed greater levels of dissatisfaction with their weight and overall appearance after watching the
tape, in contrast to participants with low internalization who showed a decrease in dissatisfaction with
weight and appearance (Heingberg Thompson, 1995). Brief exposure to images promoting thinness as
a prerequisite to beauty increases psychological distress and body image dissatisfaction, and as a result
of these findings it is important to note that increased exposure may result in severe consequences
(Heingberg Thompson, 1999, pp. 334). Internalization may help explain why some girls who have the
idea that thinness and beauty are linked together engrained in their mind exhibit disordered eating
behavior and higher levels of body dissatisfaction then other girls who hear the same message daily

Insight on Life and God in The Sovereignty and Goodness of...
The Sovereignty and goodness of God is a book about a woman who is in a stressful situation. She is
desperately trying to please God because she is feeling like he is punishing her. This book is widely
appreciated because I believe a lot of people can relate to Mary Rowlandson. Sometimes we come to a
point in life where we cannot handle all of the stress. We do things to please our parents, God, teachers
and so on. At this point in my life I can relate to the Mary Rowlandson, except I know there is nothing
I can do to please God. A lot of times we get stuck thinking that we have to do things to please him. In
the book The Sovereignty and Goodness of God, Mary Rowlandson is captured and she thinks God is
doing this to her. This book is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I can relate to her. A lot of college students including myself take on too much stress and we strive to
please others when really we should accept ourselves. Mary Rowlandson struggles with taking in the
fact that God accepts her and her situation is a trial she is going through in life that she will overcome.
I also appreciate this work because Mary Rowlandson wants to do many things, how to see her family,
but the Indians do not let her do anything. In this case by comparing it with me I can say that many
times I want to do too many things, but at the same time, something s are out of my control sometimes
life puts us in situations that make things impossible and we need to learn how to make the best of
something and accept it. It is meaningful to me because Mary is put in a situation where she cannot
control things. Eventually she is able to see her family. She never gave up on them and she made the
best out of the situation she was in. In my life I know there are things that are out of my control, but I
am learning that if we keep pursuing life instead of giving up, things will fall in place. A lot of times
we have a vision of out things ought to be. As for Mary, she wanted to see her family instantly, but she
couldn t. Things do fall into place with perseverance but they don t always work out the way we think
it will. This book changed my way of thinking toward things, since this reading taught me to be
patient, because the use of Mary

Analysis Of Chekhov s The Brothers Karamazov
Chekhov s use of allusion in Misery also stands in stark contrast to the works of other Russian literary
giants such as Dostoevsky and Tolstoy, whose works often featured deep themes revolving around the
aforementioned Christian thought. While a deep discussion on these themes is out of the scope of this
paper, perhaps one of the most obvious and contrasting examples can be found in Dostoevsky s The
Brothers Karamazov, which was published around 6 years before Chekhov wrote Misery . Towards
the end of the novel, Father Zosima, a figure who acts as a mouthpiece for Dostoevsky s own thoughts
on religion, indirectly responds to the arguments of Ivan Karamazov, who rejects God because of the
existence of suffering innocents and other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But Jonah is not humbled and reverent as Job is. Instead, Jonah prayed to the Lord and said, O Lord, is
not this what I said when I was yet in my country? That is why I made haste to flee to Tarshish; for I
knew that you are a gracious God and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and
relenting from disaster (Jonah 4:2). Jonah refuses to simply accept God s message, and instead
challenges God to explain why he even had to go through his journey in the first place. When God
responds, the Book of Jonah simply ends, and we never hear from Jonah again. The final image of
Jonah is of him sitting under a wilting plant, fuming and wishing for an end to his life. Thus Jonah
himself is in fact one of the more miserable figures of the Bible. It is only appropriate that Chekhov
chose such an unorthodox figure, rather than someone like Job, to connect to the misery of his
protagonist. Jonah s questioning of God even when facing his literal presence is also appropriate given
Chekhov s own questioning of faith. Jonah, in a Chekhovian fashion, focuses on the realities of what
he had to go through, rather than being humbled and indulging in Job s deep, yet clear cut answers and
happy ending. The allusion to Jonah in Misery serves only to introduce a hint of Christian metaphysics
into the story, providing Chekhov with an opportunity to deconstruct its influence in society and in the
works of his

He would help lead and be in charge of hunting for food. In the process of appointing some of the

When Ralph blew into the shell it made a very loud noise, attracting everyone s attention. With the
shell, Ralph decided to blow again, to see if there was any one else on that island that could be lost.
The boys on the island waited for a little, while Ralph blew the shell. Only a few more boys came
from the woods who heard the strange call. Now all they could assume was they were the only
survivors. Ralph decided, who ever had she shell, would have the right to speak during their meetings.

She went to Evergreen Valley college, and has been sewing clothes since, well I m not sure, probably since I was born. Her friend offered her a job, to help her sew clothes. They were pretty close friends. She would work there in her house, and my brother and I would also be there, but getting babysitted by my mom s boss. • 3. St Valentine s Day Massacre Research Paper Crime, murder, and gangs were taking a hold of Chicago and one defining moment shocked everyone. Two gangs, the Italian Sicilian mob and the Irish Jewish crew, had high tensions leading to many confrontations. But the problems between the two seemed to stop after the St. Valentine s Day Massacre on February 14, 1929. Then, the hunt for those responsible started. The crime itself involved many people, killed many people, and even had effects after the crime. There were many well known people of Chicago in the two groups and high tensions between gangs that would eventually lead up to the St. Valentine s Day Massacre. The two gangs, the Italian Sicilian mob and the Irish Jewish crew, had many confrontations but one stood out. Dion O´Banion, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moran and his gang after the attack, had been able to hold their territory for some time, but never really came back from the massacre ( Feb. 2). Moran s gang had also lost a lot of strength and power in Chicago in a short time (Benson, 1). One of the surviving victims, Frank Gusenberg, could have put the case to rest, serving those responsible, but when asked who shot him, he said, No one shot me , and the case was left unsolved when Gusenberg later died from his wounds ( Saint 1). The two leaders of the attack, were the ones with the strongest alibis. Al Capone and McGurn were not charged for the crime and seemed to be free, but one gunman, Fred Burke, was arrested for the murder of a police officer and not for the crime (Rosenberg, 3). Although Capone was not arrested for the crime, it did put him on the federal government s radar and they had him arrested in 1931 for tax evasion (Rosenberg, 4). McGurn did not fare well either. One day, after the seventh anniversary of the massacre, he was gunned down in a bowling alley, ending his career (Rosenberg, 4). The massacre was however, the last time Capone and Moran interfered with each other. This was because Bugs was arrested in 1946 for small time robberies and later died in jail from lung cancer. Furthermore, Capone was arrested in 1931 ( Valentine s 2). Even though many thought they knew who ordered the attack, there ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Theories Of Experiential Learning Theory Meanwhile, the Theory of Experiential Learning Cycle by David Kolb (Kolb, 1984) is also relevant to this study. Experiential Learning Theory (ELT) defines learning as the process whereby knowledge is created through the transformation of experience . Knowledge is a product from the combination of both grasping and transforming experience. According to him the Experiential Learning Theory model portrays two dialectically related modes of grasping experience; Concrete Experience and Abstract Conceptualization, and two dialectically relevant modes of transforming experience; Reflective Observation and Active Experimentation. Experiential learning is a process of formulating knowledge that involves a creative tension between the four learning modes that is responsive to contextual demands. This process is portrayed as an ideal learning cycle or spiral where the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These modes are only responsive to certain contexts. Thus, the learning process is portrayed as a learning cycle where the learner assumes each of the four domains; experiencing, reflecting, thinking, and acting (Kolb Kolb, 2005). The recursive process is responsive to each other; the learner, learning experience, and on the content learned. Immediate or concrete experiences are the impetus for observations and reflections. Without these learning would be impossible even at the very beginning. Later on, reflections then can be assimilated in the old experience and deduced it into abstract concepts from which new implications for action are drawn. These new implications are then used for active experimentation, which leads to new concrete experiences (Kolb Kolb, 2005). With the production of new concrete experiences it already leads us into a complete cycle of learning under David Kolb s Experiential Learning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. I Am A Holistic Thinker 3. How does your orientation in these 6 areas compare with the expectations of our society? (School, jobs, relationships) Explain. My orientation in the six areas may or may not compare with the expectations of our society. I am time oriented. This is a very American way of thinking. American schools, businesses, and homes often have a clock in every room, and nearly everyone wears a watch. Each day is organized into time periods of specific length, and use of each period is fully planned. Anniversaries, dates, and historical chronologies also have special importance. I am a holistic thinker. This orientation tends to be present in Hebrew and other non western cultures while dichotomistic thinking lies primarily in the west. This tends to be because westerners tend to use the left hemisphere of the brain which is analytical, logical, precise, and time sensitive, while the non western cultures use the right hemisphere which is holistic, emotional, pattern recognition, and sensory. Although hemispheric dominance limits the creativity of individuals and cultures, the general tendency is towards extremes. Western schooling and religious denominations suppress the concrete, emotional, and synthetic thinkers, while non western cultures suppress their analytic and abstract thinkers. I am also more non crisis oriented than crisis oriented. My orientation is seen more in non American societies. An example is the American military system. They have a set code of ... • 6. Internal And External And Internal Pressure On Media... External and Internal Pressure on Media Journalists Journalists are professional people, trying to work within a code of professional ethics. However, journalists cannot operate in a vacuum, doing what they think is right without pressures being put on them. Journalists face pressure from a variety of sources, all trying to make the journalist behave in a way which is not the way the journalist would choose. Employer: Your boss pays your salary. In return, they expect to say how you will do your job. This can lead to ethical problems for journalists. If you work for a government owned news organization, then your government will be your employer. This could make it very difficult for you to report critically on things which the government is doing. Ministers will often put pressure on public service journalists to report things which are favorable to the government (even when they are not newsworthy) and not to report ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, a journalist who is deeply opposed to capital punishment may be writing a story about crime. In the course of gathering the information, they may interview somebody who calls for the death penalty as the answer to increasing crime. The journalist may be tempted not to report these comments, and to leave the question of capital punishment out of the story. This would clearly be unethical. It is as bad to censor the news to suit your own views as it is to censor the news to please your family, or clan, or tribe. This is contrary to the most fundamental principle of free speech that we may disagree with what somebody says, but that we must fight to defend their right to say it. See Chapter 57: Fairness for a fuller discussion of this principle. It is not only the things you really believe in which may cause problems. Some journalists accept contracts to advertise products, as a way of earning some extra money. You must think carefully before you do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Between Food And Culture The United States has long been known as a melting pot because most of its people are descended from immigrants. The immigrants come to USA for a better life so they leave their own country and decide to call it home. Most of the immigrants live in New York in this city, so we can see the variation in people and culture. Basically the immigrants leave their country but they don t leave their culture. They want to maintain their culture and one of the way to maintain their culture is food. Not only that but also many people want to introduce their culture to other, that s why they open restaurant. Sometimes people open a restaurant in a diverse area and they cook food combining the recipe of different countries so the place plays an important role for the people who are not even from that culture. From that, we can see that food can easily combine any culture without changing their own culture. When given the task to find a restaurant that has represents the connection between food and culture a restaurant that comes in my mind was Sagar Restaurant located in 169 street in Jamaica, Queens. Though Sagor restaurant is a Bangladeshi, Indian style Chinese restaurant, it represents the interaction between various groups of Asian immigrants through food and it also reminds Bangladeshi people about their country. The percentage of Asian race and Black race in Jamaica are all higher than other races and least percentages of races in Jamaica is Native Hawaiian and American Indian ... • 8. The History Of Pizza By Matt Lezotte The History of Pizza By Matt Lezotte Pepperoni? Sausage? Olive? It seems like everyone likes pizza whether its one way or another. Pizza has become the most common favorite food among Americans and you can see it s popularity all over the world. People crave it so much that now you don t need to leave your home to get a slice of pie. Even in Italy pizza vending machines are starting to appear. Every second about 300 pizza slices are about to be eaten. The trend has no end in sight and with chains like pizza hut finding ways to reinvent the pizza people will likely keep buying those delicious slices of joy. But where did pizza begin? Many know it started in Italy but most just assume it has been around forever. The early ideas of pizza didn t even come to be since the 1700 s. Pizza started in Naples. Soon immigrants lead to the first sightings of pizza in America. Then New York wanted to make pizza easy and inexpensive. Chicago reinvented it so one could eat with a fork and knife. Pizza keeps evolving and growing and it is truly one of the best inventions ever to exist. But it started as something only a poor man would eat. The origins of pizza trace back to around the late 1700 s. People ate flat bread with cheese on it and sometimes a sauce was added. This was mildly popular but often the flatbread would contain fancy oils and herbs with fine cheese on top. Many higher ranked Italiens would eat flatbread but with oils and herbs on top to make it taste ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Humanitarian Crisis in Chechnya The situation in Chechnya is out of hand, a senseless echo of Stalin in a day where the expression of such rank evil should not occur or be tolerated. An interview with a local Chechen refugee solidified my understanding of the situation. However, meeting a survivor face to face also made the situation seem more real and therefore much more painful. When asked to comment on the film Crying Sun, my subject took a deep breath. This is just like what happened in our village, she said. There were land mines everywhere. The paratroopers came a lot. Once we ran to the neighbor s house barefoot, just like the woman in the movie said. They looted from our homes too. My cousins died. Many Chechens have lived in their respective villages not just for generations, but for centuries. My interview subject revealed her knowledge that many of her ancestors from a long time ago were Jewish, and that some of the people trace their tribal lineage to the Biblical times. There is a sense of senselessness to the killing that transcends rational thought. The so called rebels have been painted as terrorists by the skillful propaganda machine; any rational analysis of the situation in Chechnya reveals the real truth. As Rodrigue (2008) points out, Chechnya is important for the Russians because of access to strategic oil reserves in the Caucasus. Although some of the Caucasus nations obtained their independence, like Georgia and Armenia in the southern Caucasus, the new Russian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A thousand years have passed since these creatures were initially domesticated by man back in West Asia and have spread internationally since then. Goats are animals with a wide ecological spread, which makes them as a very common type of animal. Their physical features include a thick body, cloven hooves, and horns. In 1758, Carl Linnaeus gave Capra hircus as the goat s Latin name. Goats are divided into two main types: domestic goats (Capra hircus) and mountain goats (Oreamnos americanus). They practice this eating habit in order to determine to find out if the food is good enough to eat. Goats are curious creatures. They love to explore anything new that they see in their surroundings. They can move easily and quickly. Goats are well known for their ability to climb and balance in uncertain places. Goats have an important stand precisely in the world of agriculture and animal husbandry. Raising goats have been, for many of years now, a feasible form of livelihood especially for Filipinos working in farms. Some consider raising goats as their ultimate source of income for their everyday needs. In comparison with cow milk, goat milk contains less sugar (lactose), 134% more potassium, 47% more vitamin A, 25% more vitamin B6, and 13% more calcium. In life, parents will do anything to make sure their kids have more than what they did. They strive to make sure their kids to do whatever it takes to become successful in this world. As you are raised, you are taught to never talk to strangers, always respect your elders, and never use profanity. Our parents were raised in a whole different domain before we were brought into this world. So many daily things have changed, from the way we turn on the television in the morning to how we get to school or work. Things have transformed; for example, explicit music was not criticized as much as it is now because music was very monitored back then. In those days, profanity wasn t ever heard of because it was banned in almost every household. Music containing profanity does not appeal to most adults because of their maturity level and values in life; but it does appeal to teens because of their maturity level, rebellious behavior, and their naive mindset. ... In healthy cattle, the concentration of magnesium in the blood is approximately 2.25 mg/100 mL of blood, and it is very important that this magnesium level is maintained to ensure the wellbeing of the animal (Kellems, 2010). A deficiency in magnesium, either because the diet does not provide enough or because the magnesium cannot be absorbed due to other factors, can lead to major issues in the cow s health. Magnesium influences the membrane potentials of neurons, keeping the resting potential further from threshold, so that the neurons requiring a larger amount of stimuli to send signals from neuron to neuron and result in muscle contractions and extensions. This is a major problem associated with grass tetany (Fentenot et al, 1988). Symptoms of grass tetany are commonly not observed in time to save the cows. Symptoms of the disease include the cow appearing to be blind, excitable, and suffering from convulsions. In less severe cases, the cow will be more sensitive to touch and sound she typically is, urinate often, and appear stiff and uncomfortable.
