Louis Pasteur And Its Effects On Humans
Louis Pasteur made very important contributions to science. He figured out that microorganism scaled
microbes made alcohol and milk go sour. Before his discovery, there was no way to stop beverages
from going bad. Drinking spoiled drinks can have very negative effects on humans. Louis created a
process that destroys the microbes inside of liquids. To do this, you must heat up a liquid to a high
temperature for a short amount of time. He named this revolutionary process pasteurization. In
addition to is amazing achievement, Louis created vaccines for rabies and anthrax.
Louis Pasteur was born on December 27, 1822. He was born in Dole, France. Louis grew up in a town
called Arbois with his father, Jean Joseph Pasteur. Louis father had a ... Show more content on

This is where Louis met his wife, Marie Laurent. Louis married Marie on May 29 in the year 1849.
Marie and Louis had five children. Sadly, only two of these children survived their childhood.
After managing to cope with the death of two of his children, Louis Pasteur was made a professor at
the University of Lille. It was at this university, that Louis tried to find a solution to the problem
manufacturers of alcohol faced at that time. Louis Pasteur, of course, did not invent Germ Theory. He
did however, further develop the theory, and convinced the majority of Europe that this theory is true.
After showing how microorganism affected drinks such as alcohol and milk, Louis then created a
process that was capable of destroying these organisms that put humans in danger. He figured out that
this could be accomplished by boiling, and then cooling a liquid. Louis performed this for the first
time on April 20 in 1862. We later named this process pasteurization, after its inventor.
Louis s knowledge of how microorganisms forms helped him later in life. By using what he knew
about microbes, Pasteur saved the silk industry. Pasteur proved to silk manufacturers that microbes
were responsible for the silk shortage. The microbes were attacking silkworm eggs. By doing this, the
silkworms caught a disease. Louis realized that if the microbes were killed, the disease would cease to
exist. And of course, Louis s hypothesis was correct, and by

Religious Beliefs Of The Catholic Church
The Catholic Church s current pope, Pope Francis, once said, A good Catholic meddles in politics,
offering the best of himself, so that those who govern can govern. But what is the best that we can
offer to those who govern? Prayer! (Pope Francis, 2013). Catholics are approximately half of the
number of Christians, numbering more than one billion members. This number makes it one of the
largest religions in the world. In 2003, the Catholic population in the United States was 63.4 million
people (Roman Catholic Church, 2017). The Catholic Church s basic beliefs influence their
demographics, party affiliation, stances on different political issues, and involvement in American
politics.
I attended a service at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. At this service,
politics were not directly mentioned, but Father Darin Schmidt said a few interesting words. In a
message to the congregation he said, love unconditionally, without limits. He also said, peace, liberty,
and justice for all. One might recognize liberty and justice for all from our nation s Pledge of
Allegiance, and this quote displays a sense of patriotism in the church. These quotes are helpful in
understanding the Catholic Church s ideologies. During prayer, they mentioned a few current issues
including support for the military, the Las Vegas shooting, refugees, and victims of natural disasters.
Besides these few observations, the service did not express any straightforward political

Priority List for Implementing Supervision Instructional...
The instructional leader must be skillful, effective, and flexible with all instructional supervision
strategies. An enlightened leader provides constructive feedbacks that improve instruction, and
ultimately, student performance; and leads a team of educators to reach their highest potential. Based
on my study of the different strategies, the following is the order of my priority: Critical Friends
Group, Standards Based Walk Through, Peer Coaching, Mentoring, Peer Assessment, Clinical
Supervision, Portfolio Assessment, and Action Research. The criteria used to determine rank of the
supervision strategies was the amount of colleague support provided to encourage instructional
change. The list ranks from effective strategies collaborating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is a valuable opportunity for teachers to learn from teachers, reflect, question, support, and share
knowledge. The invaluable process needs to increase professional growth.
Limitations:
Although there are more reasons why Standards Based Walk Through is an effective approach there, is
one flaw that stands out as a concern of mine. Colleagues do not get the opportunity to observe the
students in active learning. Unfortunately, this approach only allows the team of teachers to see the
end outcomes and rely on how the teachers reflection of the activities presented during the walk
through.
Mentoring, Peer Coaching and Peer Assessment:
These three effective supervision strategies are remarkably similar in the sense of gaining new ideas
from colleagues, non judgmental and no evaluations to complete. Simply, teachers helping teachers
and both parties involved may improve teaching ability. The strength is in the teacher to teacher
interaction of all three of these approaches to push thinking forward which will assist in the
improvement of teaching.
Limitations:
Unfortunately, in all three approaches there s slight bias relating to the observer s own beliefs about
teaching.
Clinical Supervision:
This process respects teachers and builds relationships between leader and teacher. Together, leader
and teacher establish the purpose for the observation and determine how the leader can assist with
supporting the responsible professional. The instructional

Term Paper Making the Most of Foreign Factories
Jeremy Rochford
California State University San Marcos
Abstract
The article Making the Most of Foreign Factories , written by Kasra Ferdows discusses how
companies can and should obtain the full potential of their factories abroad. She begins by stating that
there are two approaches to manufacturing and a factory s importance to the company is based on the
approach the manager of the factory takes. She also exclaims how she thinks the gap between
companies that treat their foreign factories as a source of competitive advantage and those that do not
is widening.
Next, Ferdows discusses the three current realities of global business. She follows by illustrating the

Powerful suppliers increase the cost of purchased materials. (Miltenburg). The next force is the
bargaining power of buyers. The more options buyers have for a certain product the more power they
have. Powerful customers decrease prices for finished products. (Miltenburg). The last force is the
rivalry among competitors in the industry. Tough competition decreases prices and increases costs
such as marketing and new product research and development. (Miltenburg). However, in the past
couple of years there has been a new trend, bringing manufacturing back to the United States.
According to Anne Kates Smith, the Boston Consulting Group predicts a manufacturing renaissance in
the United States to be in full gear by the year 2020. There are many reasons for this trend starting
with rising wages abroad and high oil prices, which have increased shipping costs dramatically.
Offshoring companies have also encountered hidden costs resulting from long lead times, quality
control issues, and the separation of production from design and engineering teams. (Smith). Another
main attraction to the United States is that the cost of factory powered natural gas is much less in the
United States than in other countries. This factory powered natural gas is not only a main component
in producing chemicals, but as more companies begin to focus on being socially responsible the
demand for such

Southern Colonies Similarities
Comparison Essay U.S History G Block Valentina Stephens 29/9/17 North vs. South Colonies The
Northern and Southern colonies share many similarities when it comes to government leadership,
immigration, the treatment of women and the use of slavery. However there are also several
differences that influence the social structure of the respective territories. The Southern colonies were
considered Virginia, Maryland, Georgia North and South Carolina. Which had a very warm climate
which was excellent for farming. While the Northern states were Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode
Island, New York, Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey. The political and social movements of the
South were controlled and lead majoritively by the farmers that grew the cash crops and had the most
money. While the North had a more structured government system, much more influenced by England
that followed set laws and agreements in comparison to the South. Ben Franklin heavily influenced
the people of the North by preaching about the Enlightenment. Which was a movement that originated
in Europe which spoke of obtaining truths through experimentation and scientific reasoning. Since the
Puritans were big supporters of public education, making sure everyone would be able to read the
bible, these new ideas were spread through books and pamphlets. In comparison to the South which
did not catch on to these Enlightenment ideas as fast as the North did because they did not care much
for education.

Archie Manning Research Paper
Who comes to attention when individuals envision the perfect NFL quarterback? Joe Namath, Dan
Marino, and Joe Montana are all familiar names. What about Eli Manning? Most people think of Eli
Manning as Peyton s little brother; however, what if Eli is far more than he is believed to be? Eli
Manning may not be deemed an elite quarterback by some, but he is actually one of the most unruffled
and composed quarterbacks in the league at decisive, game time moments. Eli Manning was not
always the tranquil, placid quarterback that we see today. He was once a young child who was not
engrossed in football or sports at all. Being seven and five years younger than his elder brothers,
Cooper and Peyton, he was never tangled in their loud, often bloody fraternal battles over basketball
or checkers or life. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eli was ready as he rejected offers from Texas, LSU, and Tennessee Peyton s alma mater. Eli chose the
University of Mississippi, where Archie played and was a legend. The reminders of Archie came at

often did interviews in the Manning Room, which is filled with his dad s memorabilia. Although it
was not long before Eli was leaving his own mark at Ole Miss, He broke forty seven school records,
including several that had belonged to his father (Lawrence 2). After college, Eli followed in his
brothers footsteps, becoming the No. 1 pick in the 2004 NFL Draft. The New York Giants traded four
draft picks to the San Diego Chargers for Manning with the dream of being led to a third Super Bowl

Questions On Correct Billing And Coding
In order to be a better or more knowledgeable about correct billing and coding, the coder must first be
aware of the impact of the issues that can occur in a claims process when incorrect information is
documented or coded about the patient.
The main possible impacts of incorrect information in a claim are: rejected claims, down coding of the
bill by the insurance company, loss of payment to the physician and additional audits.
During a patient visit, all that is done for the patient must be transcribed into the correct codes. Along
with these codes, there must be sufficient supporting information documented in the patient record.
When the supporting evidence is not there, that line will either be down coded or the billing being
rejected. A rejected bill requires more time and effort by the physician s staff to correct the issue and
resubmit it. Billing with the correct primary, sub and supporting codes will prevent the extra work and
possible loss of money. This is not just an ethical and financial need to do so, but a legal responsibility.
In many cases, the coder is held responsible for incorrect or erroneous billing.
Correct and Clean Coding Other than the ethical issues of coding, the best methodology to follow is to
code by these three coding guidelines. a) First, code the primary diagnosis, condition or reason for the
visit followed by the co existing, current circumstances. b) Next, with the supporting evidence, code to

neon Essay
Did you know that neon is a Greek word that means quot;new quot;? Neon is the element that I am
most interested in. I chose to do neon because I found out what many uses it has in our daily life.
Neon is the element that allows you to watch TV. Without neon we would never see the cool flashing
signs outside of diners and bars. In my essay I am going to tell you about neon and its many uses.
First, I m going to tell you about the history and uses of neon. Neon was discovered by Sir William
Ramsay, a Scottish chemist, and Morris M. Travers, an English chemist, shortly after their discovery
of the element krypton in 1898. Neon is one of the most amusing elements used today. Neon mixed

Neon is found in the atmosphere. Neon is 0.002% of the atmosphere. Also, stars produce neon during
the later stages of nuclear fusion.
All there is to talk about neon now is about how it integrates into our life. To show you the integration
in our society I will demonstrate a situation in which neon comes into play. Imagine walking around in
Las Vegas with your friends looking to have a good time before your business meeting the next day.
You look up and see giant signs that flash and move around advertising casinos and restaurants. Those
signs are discharge tubes holding the active ingredients of our friend neon and his buddy mercury. You
decide to walk into the casino with the biggest, coolest sign that says quot;MGM quot;. You walk into
the casino wondering what to do first, so you walk over to the nearest craps table. You play craps for a
couple hours and decide to cash in and go out to eat with all the money you won. You walk into a
sports bar to get a drink and you notice a TV with the Lakers game on. You look up at the TV and
notice they are losing 84 to 36. The television has a tube in it that holds neon to project things onto the
glass screen you see, without neon you wouldn t be able to watch any of your favorite shows. When
you are finished eating your friends ask if you want to go to the Smithsonian observation museum
about 10 miles away from downtown Las Vegas. You agree and pile into your rented Mercedes Benz

Odyssey Vs Penelopiad Essay
When studying the texts of Homer s The Odyssey and Margaret Atwood s The Penelopiad , varying
perspectives will arise. In the male dominated era of Greece, men were regarded as valiant warriors,
heroes of national importance, and overall superior beings while women were perceived as the
subordinate gender, often expected to remain in the household to bear and raise children. Since these
concepts are present in both texts, it is apparent that gender roles are the focal point of discussion in
Homer s and Atwood s literary works. With a more contemporary approach, the role of women can be
reassessed as something of great importance and power (Weinbaum 3). The goddesses depicted in The
Odyssey , Athena and Calypso, each represent an important theme of a woman s intelligence and
power to form bonds and the role in Odysseus homecoming, whether it is to provide guidance or cause
difficulty. Similarly in The Penelopiad , the maids residing in Odysseus household use their femininity
to build relationships with the suitors and utilize their power to obtain valuable information for
Odysseus wife Penelope. In addition, Penelope maintains her relationship with her husband and
remains faithful to assure a suitable homecoming for Odysseus.

Taming Of The Shrew Gender Roles
Teaching the works of William Shakespeare is relevant and necessary. Perhaps the relevance of his
writing is taken for granted, perhaps it is necessary to re examine the role of Shakespeare for the
modern audience. The most controversial play Taming of the Shrew performed between 1590 and
1592 by William Shakespeare brings to our attention the gender bias and gender expectations
portrayed by women. The key message of Shakespeare s the Taming of the shrew is also about
favouritism in which Katherina feels neglected as her dad gives more attention to his younger
daughter Bianca. This leads to Katherina s shrewish behaviour. There are lessons for the modern
audience to learn from the characters in the play especially about gender bias/ ... Show more content

Katherina is a character portrayed in the play who clearly links to why women in society could act
violently and shrewish. Baptista says For shame, thou hiding of a devilish spirit! . The use of negative
connotation in this quote is to portray the emotion Baptista has on her daughter. As taming of the
shrew depicts Katherina s behaviour to be vicious and shrewish in the beginning of the play; she is
seen tying up her younger sister; this scene has an exceptionally dramatic stagecraft and an eye
catching opening as a woman from such a respectable foundation would not have longed for being as
shrewish as Katherina. Katherina s father Baptista even consents to Katherina resembling this in one
of the scene, as he declares she is hiding a devilish spirit . Her dad not treating Katherina equally as
her younger sister Bianca creates envy for Katherina and makes her act shrewish. Indeed, even today,
neglection by a beloved one can influence each other s prosperity and prompt undesirable rough
practices by youngsters. It can likewise make clashes between each other in society. Along these lines,
Katherina is a very stressed character to depict the play s pertinence in the present society in the
subject of favouritism. Baptista s neglect of Katherina in act 2 scene 1 is to be noted. She is your
treasure...for your love to her, lead apes in hell.

Viewing Heritage And Identity Of An African American Family
Alice Walker attempts to depict the different ways of viewing heritage and identity of an African
American family. During the first read, the audience sides with the narrator and Maggie against
Dee/Wangero. The reader can see Dee/Wangero antagonist of the story. However, this is not the only
way to interpret Everyday Use . Walker has created a more complex story than just right and wrong.
After further analysis, the reader comes to understand that Wangero view of her cultural heritage and
identity as a black woman in America is different than the view that Maggie and the narrator have.
Wangero values the quilts differently than her family, however that does not mean she is the enemy in
the story. In the initial reading of Everyday Use , the audience sides with the narrator and Maggie. The
narrator sees the faults in both of her daughters. For instance, Wangero is depicted as intelligent,
beautiful, and a bit bull headed (pg1532). Maggie is not very bright and she is like a timid, broken
animal (pg1532). Dee had every advantage where Maggie had none. The reader immediately feels
sorry for Maggie and the narrator. Where as the reader s interpretation of Wangero only lessens
throughout the story. Wangero wants more from life than staying in her small home town. When the
family s first house burned down the narrator thought that her daughter should, dance around the ashes
(1532). When Wangero was young she rejected the quilts, her old home, and her family. Now, years

Questions On Legal Mobilization And Oral And Anal
Kellie McClure Sociology 323 Final Exam Part 1 (Short answers/terms): 1. Sodomy is any sex that is
non procreative. This means that it is both oral and anal. It applies to everyone, gays, lesbians, and
heterosexuals. It is significant to the context of the course because there were sodomy laws and
Bowers v. Hardwick was a case that changed the way we talk about things of this nature. 2. Social
closure is when there are boundaries created in order to define who is allowed in a profession. This is
important to our class discussion because it helps show why there is differences in who is in the
profession. This means that women, minorities, and blacks are all given boundaries of how they can
enter the law profession. 3. Legal mobilization means that different advocacy groups and
organizations with a cause are using the law and litigation in order to create social change. This is
important because it shows the different ways in which we enact social change. Law can be used to
make a difference in our laws instead of just being to handle a dispute or criminal case. 5. The Access
to Justice Gap means that there are more people who are eligible for legal assistance but there are not
enough lawyers to accept their cases. This is a growing inequality. This is relevant because is shows
the inequality within the system. There are cases that possibly should go to court but without legal

be several topics of discussion. Part Two of the assignment is an essay, in which six questions should
be answered. In each question, I will discuss the topics in detail, also adding my point of view.
Assignment 3
Every student needs to start with the basic fundamentals of going to college . You need to build a
foundation for the minor areas. It all starts with being able to follow simple instructions. However,
there is a myriad of information to retain. Thus, you will need to be to do the following:
1. Evaluate your note taking ability
2. Improve your test preparation
3. Review Case Studies on Note Taking How would you evaluate your note taking ability?
I haven t taken notes in a very long time. At work, I usually just jot things down on a note pad. Then,
when I m ready, I transcribe those notes into information. In high school, I was a fairly good note
taker, I think. I was organized, ready to listen, and free of distraction. If I had to evaluate myself, I
would say I m a Fair note taker. There is definitely room for improvement!
How can you improve your test preparation?
Overcoming anxiety about test taking is definitely going to be a challenge. I get very stressed,
irritated, and overall, crazy! So, to prevent a nervous breakdown, I am going to try to prepare early. I

Risk Of Skin Cancer In Tanning Beds
Sharon Miller is the author of this article and is part of FDA. In this article she discusses how each
type of uv rays damage the skin and which uv ray is used in tanning beds. This is relevant to my topic
because it demonstrates the risk of skin cancer. Many people think tanning gives them a ¨healthy¨
glow, but in reality a tan is a sign on skin damage. UV B rays burn the top layer of skin resulting in a
sunburn in most cases. UV A rays burn into a deeper layer of the skin causing a rash to appear.
Tanning beds emit UV B rays and UV A rays, which is why you tend to get a sunburn before turning
dark. The UV B rays cause your body to emit more melanin, which is a pigment that darkens the skin.
This is why we get tan in the summer whether it

Data: The information provided for this research project came from the General Social Survey, (GSS).
Using IBM s SPSS predictive analytics software I analyzed the data to determine the significance of
these factors. The alcohol variable I used accounted for the number of alcoholic beverages in a given
year (GSS variable DRINKYR ). The other variable tested for significance was marital status (GSS
variable MARITAL ). This method of sampling is considered random probabilistic sampling, as we
should be able to draw a conclusion with our results about the general population using entirely
quantitative data. In examining the data I will be searching for causality to determine the significance
of these factors and whether or not they correlate with over overall quality of mental health. Focal
Relationship: I believe that income will have the highest significance between the three of these
factors, that s why I ve chosen income and mental health as the focal relationship. Two variables are
needed to determine whether or not causality exists between mental health and income. The dependent

Catch 22 Satire Essay
Stylistic use of satire in literature has been around for centuries. The use of satire is to ridicule human
follies, shortcomings, and vices by exaggerating, distorting, or using irony to showcase the
foolishness. Satire in literature is directed at society, the government, or the military to show social
criticism, and what needs to be changed. The definition of satire was founded by classical writers such
Alexander Pope, John Dryden and Jonathan Swift, in two major forms: gentle (Horatian) and harsh
(Juvenalian). Gentle satire is mildly making fun of a subject with wit. This form of satire tends to ask
the audience to laugh at themselves as much as the players. (Mitchel ) Harsh satire is condemning and
criticizing a subject. This form of satire is more judgmental, asking the audience to respond with
indignation to the events it portrays. (Mitchel ) In the twentieth and nineteenth century authors
continued to use both forms and combine them to ridicule new issues in society. Catch 22, by Joseph
Heller, is an example where the author uses a combination of harsh and gentle satire to ridicule a
central issue around society at the time of WWII. Catch 22 also blends both forms of satire to
communicate its themes. Catch 22 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

While the novel may seem as only comedic, it dives into the deceptions of society and corruption of

Summary Of Christopher King s Journey To Become Blind
Most stories are made for enjoyment, and others are dedicated to family members or close ones. This
one is different because Taylor dedicated the book to Dr. King s dream of being not judge by their
color but by the actions of one individual. The book shows that we should judge someone not by color
and appearance, but by how someone acts. Philip began the story seeing but ended up becoming blind,
but by being blind, he saw the world more clearly. The story starts in Willemstad where we find Philip
getting ready to leave because of the danger of German subs. While making their way on the Hato to
Norfolk, the ship was torpedoed. A black man named Timothy saves Philip after being struck in the
head by a board. When Timothy and Phillip is lost at sea, Philip wakes up and finds out the has gone
blind. He has already hated Timothy, so it is like Philip became blind because of that to teach him a
lesson. We see that the view people the same his mom has on pg.36. Not till chapter nine does Philip

fails. On day Timothy asks Philip to make some mats, but Philip says no and that Timothy is stupid.
Timothy hits Philip and at that point, Philip begins to change. He uses his other senses too. He begins
to do things by himself like fishing, climbing coconuts trees, and other simple things like walking
around the island. At the same time, he sees that he was wrong and that color, background, and others
things are not what you judge people by. After that, Philip and Timothy become good friends pg.

The Impact Of Charles Lindbergh Flight
There are many important accomlisments that have happened over the last 100 years such as Neil
Armstrong landing on the Moon, Jonas Salk creating the Polio Vaccine etc. I believe one of the more
overlooked accomplishments the last 100 years is Charles Lindbergh flying the first nonstop flight
from New York to Paris in 1927. Lindbergh was in the air for about 33 hours. This tells you how
transportation had evolved from the last 20 years prior with Wilbur and Orville Wright flying the first
plane in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. John Ward wrote a great piece on the impact of Charles
Lindbergh Flight in 1927. I believe this reading was showing the aviating industry in a positive light.

Carson, Pirie Scott Building (1899 1904) is also known as Schlesinger Mayer Store which is located
in Chicago, Illinois at The World s Busiest Corner between State and Madison Street. This building
was designed by Louis Sullivan and Dankmar Adler for the retail firm Schlesinger and Mayer in 1899.
Carson, Pirie Scott Building is quite unusual building compared to other buildings as it continuously
developed overtime (Fig 1). Louis Sullivan considered Schlesinger and Mayer s aspect, giving the
new presence and atmosphere to the store among its neighbours along State Street, of the building that
lead him to design rounded corner entrance according to the site. The Building is surrounded by the
buildings but it stands out definitely. And also, the relation to the other buildings brings the contrasting
atmosphere due to its difference and ornamented exterior. There is three possible entrances to the
building (The main grand entrance and two of the entrances to the office in each side of the street.)
The Chicago Department Store is a Landmark as it stood from the Field Museum of Natural History
also has been a Chicago Landmark since 1975.
The exterior of Carson Pirie Scott Building shows Sullivan s own style with his motif of nineteenth
century architecture were the expression of people s particular way of life. The expression of the
columns and the beams (Fig.2.) were giving architectural function to the building for the office area

Compare And Contrast Nude Vs Nude
Nakedness and Nudity are often used interchangeably. In Nude versus Naked, John Berger separates
them and finds distinguishable differences between them both. He had said that to be naked is to be
natural without clothes and pure in oneself and seen as such, while nude is to be naked but not to be
seen as one s self. All that is nude consequently, is considered naked but not all that is naked can be
nude.
Nakedness is the natural form of undress to be seen as is; while Nudity brings about implications and
accordingly suggests numerous underlying factors that add on to the view of the spectators on the art
presented to them. As we understand the view of art and in determining how one is Nude and the other
Naked, It is of necessity to understand a bit of background on art, how it is regarded and seen, and its

The awareness of the idea of giving art its proper freedom of expression, only came into being in the

these objects was a way of life rather than just something made for the pleasure of viewing or
admiring. With the arrival and influence of Spanish culture, the need for a venue wherein artworks
may be exhibited was finally introduced. It was the era in Philippine history, when the production of
proto art galleries had begun. If one were to find a venue that would be similar to an art gallery during

Kimmy gets kidnapped as a young girl by Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne and is thrown in a
bunker with 4 other ladies. The show begins when Kimmy and her bunkermates are found and rescued
in Durnsville, Indiana, fifteen years later. Kimmy then decides to jump into the world she has missed
out on and moves to New York City. There she meets her landlord, Lillian Kaushtupper, and her
roommate, Titus Andromedon. She soon gains a job as a nanny for a rich family on the Upper East
Side and begins her adventure into adulthood. As Kimmy experiences new things and grows as a
person, she maintains her small town purity that she enters New York City with. In the film
Powaqqatsi, there are multiple scenes and symbols that reflect a similar idea. There s one specific
scene where there are several adults carrying hay and doing physical labor. Kids play at their feet,
seemingly untouched by the need to work and suffer in their circumstance. This relates to Kimmy
because in one scene in the fourth episode of the Season 1, the girls in the bunker don t have a mirror
so as they age and change, another bunkermate will verbally describe what the other looks like. This is
significant because in reality, that s a very depressing thought; they can t see themselves because they
are trapped in a bunker. Kimmy still manages to make something positive out of it and make the best
of her circumstance, just like the kids in Powaqqatsi. Kimmy shows us that one can still mature

Surviving Female Gender Roles
Surviving Female Gender Roles What defines being feminine will vary with each culture, but two
archetypes: passive homemaker and liberal feminist have existed for centuries as one will see in two
Japanese stories written in the 17th century. In The Love Suicides at Amijima, readers see the social
chains that bind a submissive woman to her societal duties. On the other hand, in Tales of Sensuous
Women, readers are shown a complete opposite archetype where women find ways to circumvent the
social expectations that have been imposed upon them. Although four hundred or so years have passed
since these stories were written, modern women these days still have a number of societal restrictions
that make them less liberated than their male ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Readers of The Love Suicides at Amijima would not be able to see multi faceted female characters as
these in Life of a Sensuous Woman. Readers would only see female characters who blindly support
the endeavors of the men in their lives. The women in Tales of Sensuous Women are less confined by
circumstance but 17th century Japanese people would have preferred the obedient and submissive
female as opposed to one who had a mind of her own. The feminist movement that guaranteed a
female s civil rights through law has increased the number of rights given to them. In the 21st century,
society believes that a female who fits the homemaker archetype should be more adventurous while a
female who fits the liberated, free loving archetype should be more restrained. Society accepts from
women, a balance between the two archetypes which brings up the question of how social norms or
gender roles are created and who enforces these roles. Does Koharu and Osan s passiveness stem from
physical weakness or were they brought up in a way that made them act this way? They re behavior as
supporter is restrictive and shameful in the sense that they are second class citizens. For the liberated
women, is life for them simply seducing men and robbing them of virility? Almost each protagonist at

Joan of Arc and the Siege of Orleans Essay
Between 1428 and 1429 during the Hundred Years War between France and England, the city of
Orleans was besieged by English forces. The 5000 English soldiers lead by Thomas de Montecute,
attacked for months. Around this time, Joan of Arc Appeared in at the court of Charles, and lifted the

The events leading up to the Siege of Orleans were mainly victories for the English. The French were

A few years later, Henry V landed in France with ten thousand men and besieged Harfleur, a port town
along the French coast. The siege lasted for a month, and Henry marched into the town, victorious,
with very few men, because most of them died from disease. He then set course for Calais, but was
stopped by French forces in Agincourt. Henry had only about six thousand men and the French force
had twenty thousand. Henry used the woodland to give his forces a better chance. The French, on the
other hand, set up three lines with knights in front. The knights were easily taken down by English
longbowmen, the second line was slowed down by muddy swampland, and the third line retreated.
This was a decisive victory for Henry and his outnumbered army. Henry continued advancing to
Calais. Next, Scottish and French armies join forces and raid English holdings in Normandy. The
English forces were decimated by the combined forces of France and Scotland. Soon after that battle,
The French and Scottish tried once more to remove English control of Normandy, but their forces

their hold in Normandy. The English started to take control of most of France again, started winning

Cecil The Lion Peter Singer Analysis
Remember Cecil the Lion? A lot of people were shocked, even outraged, when they heard about his
death at the hands of an American hunter in 2015. The response to the lion s death was so strong that
the guy who shot Cecil basically went into hiding until he issued an apology. Our society reacts with
horror when we hear about a majestic lion being shot or sacks of kittens being tossed into rivers, or
owners training their dogs to fight each other for sport. However, what is the difference between
killings Cecil and killing a duck, deer, cow, pig, or a chicken? How do we reconcile the strong feelings
many of us have about certain animals, mainly the cute ones like kittens and puppies, with the way we
actual use animals in our own lives?
Most of us think nothing about using non human animals for their meat, milk, or skins and not only do
we use animals in these ways, but using them as we do almost always harms them. A common method
for testing cosmetics, for example, involves restraining rabbits and putting the product into their eyes,
leaving it for a set amount of time and then washing it out and checking for adverse reactions. ... Show

If it s not okay to do it to a human, then it s not okay to do it to an animal either. You might think that

How Revolutions Within Europe Over A 500 Year Period
In his book, Charles Tilly seeks to determine the circumstances surrounding revolutions within Europe
over a 500 year period. Tilly begins by defining revolution and then presents his hypothesis that
revolutions stem from the state s actions. According to the author, a revolution consists of two parts,
each broken into smaller parts of their own: a revolutionary situation and a revolutionary outcome.
A revolutionary situation will consist of three qualifiers. First, a group, or coalition of groups, puts
forward a claim to control of the state. The group coming forward must have a claim that cannot
coexist with the current regime. This qualifier rules out issues between groups such as political parties
that are able to coexist with each other under a basic framework for government. Second, a substantial
amount of citizens must give the group support. If a group steps forward without support from the
citizens then the power for that group to enact change is handicapped. Third, the rulers must be either
unable or unwilling to silence the group. The rulers usually face this situation when their military
power has weakened or been spread too thin, giving this definition of revolution a realist edge.
Revolutionary outcomes consist of four parts. Members of either side defecting to the other would be
considered a revolutionary outcome as it would swing state control into the favor of the group
receiving the defectors. In addition, either the group coming forward can

One of the most challenging aspects of the job so far for me is how to stage changes without breaking
anything and how to always keep the service running without any downtime. When you factor in the
multiple microservices we have and the number of developers checking in at any time plus the
multiple client applications we have, then you can have a sense of the combinatorial explosion of
possibilities that are possible. The following are a couple of techniques that I use I learnt most the hard

The major goal is that changes should be transparent to the users and things should not break. I
remember once trying to integrate a brand new v1 service into our offering. the challenge was that the
v1 service we were going to depend on was in flux and things were broken at times not pointing
fingers or blaming them but that is expected when you are building things from scratch at the
beginning. Consequently I had to mock the expected responses and thankfully the set of possible
responses then was quite small there were only two possible states since we were just starting out. I
hardcoded these responses into our configuration files, wrote the code in such a way that it would read
the configuration files and choose the expected response and return it. To the end users, it didn t make
a difference however the beauty of it was that it gave us a way to slowly swithc to the service without
any downtime. And when the v1 service did break, all we had to do was flip the flag / feature switch
and we would fall back to the configuration without having to do a code deploy or spin up a live site
incident. Eventually the service became mature and stable and the hardcoded configuration fallback
went away. 3. Opt ins for breaking changes Breaking changes are inevitable the service has to grow
and evolve and things have to change. In fact, some underlying major piece of the software might get
rewritten and we ll have to respond (Yes, I am looking at you

The Impact of Lowering the Drinking Age on State...
The legal drinking age in the United States will always be a point of contention. No one can settle
upon a drinking age that everyone is in agreement with; should it be 18 or 21? Ages 18 and 21 are the
most popular options, yet neither one has 100% of the vote. With the current legal drinking age in
America standing at 21, meaning that people under the age of 21 cannot purchase or consume
alcoholic food or beverages, there is the question of whether or not to lower it to 18 or 19 years old.
This paper will argue that the drinking age should be lowered, and examine its impact on State
University. Almost everyone has an opinion on what the drinking age should be. Some people believe
that it should stay at 21. However, others argue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The answer to these questions would greatly impact the future of campuses nationwide. The State
University campus is dry, meaning there is neither alcohol nor paraphernalia allowed on the campus at
any time regardless of age. In the same city, however, Christian Brothers University is a wet campus
that allows all students 21 and older to have alcohol in their dorms and around campus. A major
question that should be considered is how schools such as these two would be affected in their policies
if the drinking age were lowered. One side to this debate is that the legal drinking age should be
lowered from 21 to around 18 or 19 years old, and that young adults should be allowed to drink in
controlled environments. This idea is presented by Ruth Engs, a professor of Applied Sciences at
Indiana University. She states that environments such as taverns, pubs, restaurants and official
university functions can be considered to be controlled environments. In these situations responsible
drinking could be taught through role modeling and educational programs. Mature and sensible
drinking behavior would be expected (Engs). In her article, Engs uses phrases such as forbidden fruit,
and a badge of rebellion against authority to describe how teens view drinking. In her opinion, if the
drinking age were to be lowered, young adults would no longer feel the pressure to drink in order to
be cool.

lifestyles only dreamt of by samurai. This caused resentment in Japanese society because, although
they were socially inferior, merchants enjoyed an elevated status economically (Kunihiko 1997).
Perhaps the social class that suffered the most indignities was the samurai who, lacking the means to
earn a living on their regular income, indulged in the lifestyle of Edo. Many had to resort to engaging
in handicraft for income vice training at the martial arts thus leading to inherent corruption
(Nobumitsu 1997).
Ultimately, the Tokugawa shogunate wanted to maintain political and social stability in Japan. By
seizing power, Ieyasu was able to quell domestic unrest but another threat was still presented for total
control. Foreign influence proved to be a serious threat to stability within Japan. The initial threat to
Japan was presented by Christian missionaries. After an initial introduction to Christianity, the
shogunate conducted a purging and outlawed the religion. This led to a prolonged isolation of
Japanese society from Western influence. The shogunate wished to prevent daimyo from conspiring
with foreigners thus

Descriptive Essay On A Giant Lobster
The Giant Lobster
One day, Dave and his family decided to go on a vacation to Maine like they do every summer. They
lived in West Hartford, Connecticut. Dave loved Connecticut and so did his three brothers, Steven,
Rob, and Peter.
They all packed their bags and got in their brand new car, and headed off. They sang road trip songs,
and played their road trip games. They eventually got bored and just slept the rest of the way. The next
morning, they all woke from their nice slumber and jumped out of the car.
We re here! We re here! Steven yelped as he was running for the cottage..
The boys all ran after their brother with legs like noodles because of their long car ride and long
slumber. They got their swim trunks on so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So, he got up off his side and went into the town to get help so he could find his family and get back to
the water. As he walked through town, he learned a lot. He learned that people were scared of him and
that he was scared of humans. He learned that the road gets REALLY hot when it s 90 degrees outside.
Also, he learned how it s really hard to get around when your 11 feet long and can t fit in places like
the coffee shop or the alley ways. As he roamed the streets like a tourist from another country, he
found Dave s parents!
AAAAHHHHH Dave s mom yelled, grasping a pole to steady herself from falling.
This scared the giant lobster, and he tried to grasp the pole too! Unfortunately, the lobster was way to
heavy and the flagpole fell. It was about to hit Dave s dad, but fortunately, the giant lobster grabbed
him gently with his pincers and moved him out of the way. When he was dropped down from the big
blue pincers, he thanked the lobster sheepishly and hid his face. Although they couldn t see it, the
lobster was smiling and in his language, muffled, your welcome!! Off the lobster went to find help. By
this time, it was dark and the Giant Lobster was very tired and he hadn t found anyone to help him.
So, he went back to the harbor to sleep.
Dave woke up bright and early so he could go say hi to the lobster. He walked down the mossy stones
from the cottage, down to the shore. He stopped on the steps and

Electromagnetic Radiation Lab
During this experiment/lab we had to undergo a process that would create our own calorimeter and
increasing the total energy captured. By using 80ml of water in the breaker having two holes for the
thermometer and for the air to escape. The thermometer came through the top and the cup covered of
the beaker at the bottom. We had the option to pick a Styrofoam cup or a Soda Can. Our group picked
the Styrofoam. So we covered the cup in aluminum inside and out. When combusting the chip we
determined that the total energy captured increased.
Secondly we have Electromagnetic Radiation. Basically the study of Electromagnetic Radiation is
dealing with how much electrically charged particles come together with each other with Magnetic

My Life With My Grandmother
One summer, when I was 11, I lived with my grandma. I was a very adventurous child and my
grandma lives in the very south side of Laredo, so whenever I would go outside, she would make my
older cousin would go with me. To keep me from going toward street, she would tell me that there was
a 1,700 year old creature called The Ripper that would take small children, rip them of their skin, and
eat their remains. Supposedly, it was snake like with faded blue and green scales, arms and legs with
six claws each, full blazing yellow eyes, and a long tail with three rows of four sharp spikes. As you
can tell, my grandma was really graphic and dramatic. In a way, her graphicness worked and kept me
away from the street. She would tell my that if I had ever went to the street and it took me, she would
never be able to get over the anguish she would feel. I was always so curious on where the creature
lived; a house, on the streets, in the drains. My mission was to find out where it lived, and defeat it. I
was really intimidated by it, but I knew that with my strength and confidence, I could do great things.
Such as, defeat the old creature.
One windy Friday night, my grandma said she needed to go to the grocery store to pick up some
materials for dinner. My grandma, like almost all others, can take up to two whole hours at the grocery
store just walking around and trying to make decisions about what to get. Her going to the store was
the perfect opportunity for me to explore. I looked

Fluoride Conspiracy By Laurie Higgs
Fluoride has been used by people for many decades. The most common use is in toothpaste. Fluoride
was added to toothpaste to lower the amount of dental cavities that one gets, and works by protecting
the enamel (outer hard layer over the tooth). Another use of fluoride is in drinking water. It was added
to drinking water to also help with tooth decay. Many people are debating whether or not this is truly
safe. In the essay, The Fluoride Conspiracy , by Laurie Higgs, she talks about the use of fluoride
drinking waters and dangers it brings by using logos, pathos, and ethos. Higgs explains in her essay
that the use of fluoride has been used in water for some time now and that it is used to help prevent
tooth decay as stated in her citations. She further explains that when brushing ones teeth and swallows
an x amount of toothpaste that that one should called poison control, so why would one be able to
drink it? About sixty percent of homes contain fluoride added water and an average person is suppose
to drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water each day, while the amount of fluoride in each glass contains
more than twice the amount (to be consumed) of fluoride allowed in toothpaste (Higgs par.2), and if
one had too much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the essay it states that fluoride in water is a dangerous poison and toxic (Higgs para.3). She uses
these words to explain the effects of fluoride and creates the reader to have fear. She also uses appeals
to pathos by explaining that by drinking the water one can increase hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism
is when the thyroid gland does not produce enough thyroid hormone. The essay says that
hypothyroidism can lead to depression, fatigue, weight gain, muscle and joint pains, increased
cholesterol levels and heart disease (as qtd. in Higgs par.5). The author uses human health and the
problems that can arise from drinking water with fluoride to evoke the readers

College Pressures In College Students
Youth experience college differently due to their foundations. Through many forms of communication,
we have become conscious of the difficulties college students encounter because of pressures that
intervene amidst their equanimity and education. The Ted talk Bring on the learning revolution!
presented by Sir Ken Robinson, a well received speaker of TED and the essay College Pressures by
William Zinsser, a journalist, portray the crisis students are undoubtedly undergoing. While they
executed their main points through the means of distinct genres, their ideas complement each other
when discussing the real life experiences students have in college. Whether it be economic, parental,
peer, and or self induced pressures demonstrated to affect students (in the author s works), they don t
seem overwhelming until one confronts them. Both texts contained the emphasis that pressures,
among causing temporary frustrations can also lead to adverse life changing effects. Being in college,
I have witnessed the dismayed faces of students run into the wall of confusion, dissatisfaction, and
demotivation with the way their education is unfolding. I have run into the same wall too, myself, and
then only understood the degree of uneasiness that situates other scholars in the state of mental
devastation. The propositions presented by the writers have potential to inform and help outreach their
audience (mostly students) to pursue a career that they re passionate about.

Piaget Cognitive Theory
Piaget s Theory used in Mathematics Today Piaget took an interest in children s cognitive
development and came up with his theory of Cognitive Development; the Cognitive Development
theory consists of the four stages: Sensorimotor, Preoperational, Concrete Operational, and Formal
Operational (Ghazi Ullah, 2016, pg. 1). Jean Piaget s cognitive theory has a wide array of effects on
children s learning in mathematics that are applicable to teaching today. Teachers today use different
strategies and teaching methods based on what stage children are in. I will discuss each of the stages
and how teachers use them in math today. The first stage is the sensorimotor stage, which takes place
between the age of zero to two, and is where children understand perception and awareness of the
environment through physical actions and the manipulation of objects (Ghazi Ullah, 2016, pg. 1). In
the sensorimotor stage, the most important thing to understand is the idea of object permanence and
understanding that even when the child cannot see the object they are still able to find it. Also, in this
stage they begin to associate numbers with objects and they understand counting. In order to enhance
a child s math basis teachers are giving activities that include counting. Asking question like Who has
more? and Are there enough? , start the foundation for young children to not only understand these
things in the classroom but even more so in the real world. Another way teachers enhance

What Ancient Romans Did For Fun
Ancient Roman s have invented many of the games and sports many of us still play to this day. A
majority of the Roman people did not have much time to have fun because they were constantly
working and providing for their family. Although when they did have time to relax, Romans enjoyed
playing different kind of games and watching different kinds of entertainment. Theater, sports, and
chariot racing were the three main things that Romans did for fun during this particular time period.
Some of the things ancient Romans did for fun were quite dangerous because of the lack of the correct
equipment or because of the intense violence between people and sometimes even animals. These
bloodthirsty shows were put on in front of crowds in large arenas ... Show more content on

The equestrian events horse and chariot racing were among the oldest and most well liked activities, in
Rome, attending the chariot races became by far the most popular pastime. 250,000 people, perhaps
one fourth of the city s population, gathered around the racetrack. In 680 B.C. the first four horse race
was held at the Olympic Games. The Greeks after some time added other equestrian events such as the
two horse chariot race and the mule cart race. During this time period horse racing was much more
dangerous than it was now because of their lack of equipment. Charioteers and riders did not get the
recognition that other athletes during this time period received. For it was not the charioteers, or the
runners that got the credit, but the owners of the horses. Just as today s football and basketball fans
cheer on their home teams, Roman racing enthusiasts rooted for professional racing organizations
represented by the colors white, red, green and blue. Pliny the Younger tells why he believes racing is

Jack Welch Is The Ceo Of General Electric ( Ge ) Essay
Jack Welch is the CEO of General Electric (GE). He has an exceptionally legitimate methodology
with regards to dealing with his organization. As indicated by the video, Jack Welch anticipates that
his workers will be lively, have high official capacity, and be energetic with an edge. Be that as it may,
there is an extensive contention encompassing Jack Welch. Jack Welch sorts out his representatives in
various levels taking into account execution. His classifications include: top entertainers, center
seventy percent, and underperformers. He clarifies that in spite of the fact that it is not genuine that he
fires the underperformers, by arranging them he expect that they will either abandon themselves or
work much harder to remain. Along these lines he is basically making them mindful of where they
remain in an association and to know about the commitments expected of them. This likewise permits
him to have an unmistakable picture of who to remunerate alongside who needs change. Besides, he
seeks after Winning is everything methodology. This appears to recommend that Welch is a man who
thinks more about the result than the procedure and assets that go into creation, including his
representatives. Albeit questionable in a few viewpoints, Jack Welch is persuasive in a few
perspectives too. He has made the point that the best thing about being a pioneer is developing. Taking
into account this, Jack Welch has been delegated an incremental pioneer, which has points of

  • 2. Louis Pasteur And Its Effects On Humans Louis Pasteur made very important contributions to science. He figured out that microorganism scaled microbes made alcohol and milk go sour. Before his discovery, there was no way to stop beverages from going bad. Drinking spoiled drinks can have very negative effects on humans. Louis created a process that destroys the microbes inside of liquids. To do this, you must heat up a liquid to a high temperature for a short amount of time. He named this revolutionary process pasteurization. In addition to is amazing achievement, Louis created vaccines for rabies and anthrax. Louis Pasteur was born on December 27, 1822. He was born in Dole, France. Louis grew up in a town called Arbois with his father, Jean Joseph Pasteur. Louis father had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is where Louis met his wife, Marie Laurent. Louis married Marie on May 29 in the year 1849. Marie and Louis had five children. Sadly, only two of these children survived their childhood. After managing to cope with the death of two of his children, Louis Pasteur was made a professor at the University of Lille. It was at this university, that Louis tried to find a solution to the problem manufacturers of alcohol faced at that time. Louis Pasteur, of course, did not invent Germ Theory. He did however, further develop the theory, and convinced the majority of Europe that this theory is true. After showing how microorganism affected drinks such as alcohol and milk, Louis then created a process that was capable of destroying these organisms that put humans in danger. He figured out that this could be accomplished by boiling, and then cooling a liquid. Louis performed this for the first time on April 20 in 1862. We later named this process pasteurization, after its inventor. Louis s knowledge of how microorganisms forms helped him later in life. By using what he knew about microbes, Pasteur saved the silk industry. Pasteur proved to silk manufacturers that microbes were responsible for the silk shortage. The microbes were attacking silkworm eggs. By doing this, the silkworms caught a disease. Louis realized that if the microbes were killed, the disease would cease to exist. • 3. Religious Beliefs Of The Catholic Church The Catholic Church s current pope, Pope Francis, once said, A good Catholic meddles in politics, offering the best of himself, so that those who govern can govern. But what is the best that we can offer to those who govern? Prayer! (Pope Francis, 2013). Catholics are approximately half of the number of Christians, numbering more than one billion members. This number makes it one of the largest religions in the world. In 2003, the Catholic population in the United States was 63.4 million people (Roman Catholic Church, 2017). The Catholic Church s basic beliefs influence their demographics, party affiliation, stances on different political issues, and involvement in American politics. I attended a service at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. At this service, politics were not directly mentioned, but Father Darin Schmidt said a few interesting words. In a message to the congregation he said, love unconditionally, without limits. He also said, peace, liberty, and justice for all. One might recognize liberty and justice for all from our nation s Pledge of Allegiance, and this quote displays a sense of patriotism in the church. These quotes are helpful in understanding the Catholic Church s ideologies. During prayer, they mentioned a few current issues including support for the military, the Las Vegas shooting, refugees, and victims of natural disasters. Besides these few observations, the service did not express any straightforward political ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Colleagues do not get the opportunity to observe the students in active learning. Unfortunately, this approach only allows the team of teachers to see the end outcomes and rely on how the teachers reflection of the activities presented during the walk through. Mentoring, Peer Coaching and Peer Assessment: These three effective supervision strategies are remarkably similar in the sense of gaining new ideas from colleagues, non judgmental and no evaluations to complete. Simply, teachers helping teachers and both parties involved may improve teaching ability. The strength is in the teacher to teacher interaction of all three of these approaches to push thinking forward which will assist in the improvement of teaching. Clinical Supervision: This process respects teachers and builds relationships between leader and teacher. She begins by stating that there are two approaches to manufacturing and a factory s importance to the company is based on the approach the manager of the factory takes. The more options buyers have for a certain product the more power they have. Powerful customers decrease prices for finished products. (Miltenburg). The last force is the rivalry among competitors in the industry. Tough competition decreases prices and increases costs such as marketing and new product research and development. (Miltenburg). However, in the past couple of years there has been a new trend, bringing manufacturing back to the United States. According to Anne Kates Smith, the Boston Consulting Group predicts a manufacturing renaissance in the United States to be in full gear by the year 2020. There are many reasons for this trend starting with rising wages abroad and high oil prices, which have increased shipping costs dramatically. Offshoring companies have also encountered hidden costs resulting from long lead times, quality control issues, and the separation of production from design and engineering teams. (Smith). Another main attraction to the United States is that the cost of factory powered natural gas is much less in the United States than in other countries. What about Eli Manning? Most people think of Eli Manning as Peyton s little brother; however, what if Eli is far more than he is believed to be? Eli Manning may not be deemed an elite quarterback by some, but he is actually one of the most unruffled and composed quarterbacks in the league at decisive, game time moments. Eli Manning was not always the tranquil, placid quarterback that we see today. He was once a young child who was not engrossed in football or sports at all. • 10. Questions On Correct Billing And Coding In order to be a better or more knowledgeable about correct billing and coding, the coder must first be aware of the impact of the issues that can occur in a claims process when incorrect information is documented or coded about the patient. The main possible impacts of incorrect information in a claim are: rejected claims, down coding of the bill by the insurance company, loss of payment to the physician and additional audits. During a patient visit, all that is done for the patient must be transcribed into the correct codes. Along with these codes, there must be sufficient supporting information documented in the patient record. When the supporting evidence is not there, that line will either be down coded or the billing being rejected. A rejected bill requires more time and effort by the physician s staff to correct the issue and resubmit it. Billing with the correct primary, sub and supporting codes will prevent the extra work and possible loss of money. This is not just an ethical and financial need to do so, but a legal responsibility. In many cases, the coder is held responsible for incorrect or erroneous billing. Correct and Clean Coding Other than the ethical issues of coding, the best methodology to follow is to code by these three coding guidelines. a) First, code the primary diagnosis, condition or reason for the visit followed by the co existing, current circumstances. b) Next, with the supporting evidence, code to the highest level you are most ... • 12. Odyssey Vs Penelopiad Essay When studying the texts of Homer s The Odyssey and Margaret Atwood s The Penelopiad , varying perspectives will arise. In the male dominated era of Greece, men were regarded as valiant warriors, heroes of national importance, and overall superior beings while women were perceived as the subordinate gender, often expected to remain in the household to bear and raise children. Since these concepts are present in both texts, it is apparent that gender roles are the focal point of discussion in Homer s and Atwood s literary works. With a more contemporary approach, the role of women can be reassessed as something of great importance and power (Weinbaum 3). The goddesses depicted in The Odyssey , Athena and Calypso, each represent an important theme of a woman s intelligence and power to form bonds and the role in Odysseus homecoming, whether it is to provide guidance or cause difficulty. Similarly in The Penelopiad , the maids residing in Odysseus household use their femininity to build relationships with the suitors and utilize their power to obtain valuable information for Odysseus wife Penelope. In addition, Penelope maintains her relationship with her husband and remains faithful to assure a suitable homecoming for Odysseus. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Taming Of The Shrew Gender Roles Teaching the works of William Shakespeare is relevant and necessary. Perhaps the relevance of his writing is taken for granted, perhaps it is necessary to re examine the role of Shakespeare for the modern audience. The most controversial play Taming of the Shrew performed between 1590 and 1592 by William Shakespeare brings to our attention the gender bias and gender expectations portrayed by women. The key message of Shakespeare s the Taming of the shrew is also about favouritism in which Katherina feels neglected as her dad gives more attention to his younger daughter Bianca. This leads to Katherina s shrewish behaviour. There are lessons for the modern audience to learn from the characters in the play especially about gender bias/ ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Katherina is a character portrayed in the play who clearly links to why women in society could act violently and shrewish. Baptista says For shame, thou hiding of a devilish spirit! . The use of negative connotation in this quote is to portray the emotion Baptista has on her daughter. As taming of the shrew depicts Katherina s behaviour to be vicious and shrewish in the beginning of the play; she is seen tying up her younger sister; this scene has an exceptionally dramatic stagecraft and an eye catching opening as a woman from such a respectable foundation would not have longed for being as shrewish as Katherina. Katherina s father Baptista even consents to Katherina resembling this in one of the scene, as he declares she is hiding a devilish spirit . Her dad not treating Katherina equally as her younger sister Bianca creates envy for Katherina and makes her act shrewish. Indeed, even today, neglection by a beloved one can influence each other s prosperity and prompt undesirable rough practices by youngsters. It can likewise make clashes between each other in society. Along these lines, Katherina is a very stressed character to depict the play s pertinence in the present society in the subject of favouritism. • 23. Catch 22 Satire Essay Stylistic use of satire in literature has been around for centuries. The use of satire is to ridicule human follies, shortcomings, and vices by exaggerating, distorting, or using irony to showcase the foolishness. Satire in literature is directed at society, the government, or the military to show social criticism, and what needs to be changed. The definition of satire was founded by classical writers such Alexander Pope, John Dryden and Jonathan Swift, in two major forms: gentle (Horatian) and harsh (Juvenalian). Gentle satire is mildly making fun of a subject with wit. This form of satire tends to ask the audience to laugh at themselves as much as the players. (Mitchel ) Harsh satire is condemning and criticizing a subject. This form of satire is more judgmental, asking the audience to respond with indignation to the events it portrays. (Mitchel ) In the twentieth and nineteenth century authors continued to use both forms and combine them to ridicule new issues in society. He had said that to be naked is to be natural without clothes and pure in oneself and seen as such, while nude is to be naked but not to be seen as one s self. All that is nude consequently, is considered naked but not all that is naked can be nude. Nakedness is the natural form of undress to be seen as is; while Nudity brings about implications and accordingly suggests numerous underlying factors that add on to the view of the spectators on the art presented to them. As we understand the view of art and in determining how one is Nude and the other Naked, It is of necessity to understand a bit of background on art, how it is regarded and seen, and its exhibition in the Philippines Art in the Philippines is often seen as a privilege to only those who are wealthy enough. This relates to Kimmy because in one scene in the fourth episode of the Season 1, the girls in the bunker don t have a mirror so as they age and change, another bunkermate will verbally describe what the other looks like. This is significant because in reality, that s a very depressing thought; they can t see themselves because they are trapped in a bunker. Surviving Female Gender Roles Surviving Female Gender Roles What defines being feminine will vary with each culture, but two archetypes: passive homemaker and liberal feminist have existed for centuries as one will see in two Japanese stories written in the 17th century. In The Love Suicides at Amijima, readers see the social chains that bind a submissive woman to her societal duties. On the other hand, in Tales of Sensuous Women, readers are shown a complete opposite archetype where women find ways to circumvent the social expectations that have been imposed upon them. The feminist movement that guaranteed a female s civil rights through law has increased the number of rights given to them. In the 21st century, society believes that a female who fits the homemaker archetype should be more adventurous while a female who fits the liberated, free loving archetype should be more restrained. The siege lasted for a month, and Henry marched into the town, victorious, with very few men, because most of them died from disease. He then set course for Calais, but was stopped by French forces in Agincourt. Henry had only about six thousand men and the French force had twenty thousand. Henry used the woodland to give his forces a better chance. The French, on the other hand, set up three lines with knights in front. The knights were easily taken down by English longbowmen, the second line was slowed down by muddy swampland, and the third line retreated. This was a decisive victory for Henry and his outnumbered army. Henry continued advancing to Calais. Next, Scottish and French armies join forces and raid English holdings in Normandy. The English forces were decimated by the combined forces of France and Scotland. The response to the lion s death was so strong that the guy who shot Cecil basically went into hiding until he issued an apology. Our society reacts with horror when we hear about a majestic lion being shot or sacks of kittens being tossed into rivers, or owners training their dogs to fight each other for sport. However, what is the difference between killings Cecil and killing a duck, deer, cow, pig, or a chicken? How do we reconcile the strong feelings many of us have about certain animals, mainly the cute ones like kittens and puppies, with the way we actual use animals in our own lives? Most of us think nothing about using non human animals for their meat, milk, or skins and not only do we use animals in these ways, but using them as we do almost always harms them. • 35. How Revolutions Within Europe Over A 500 Year Period In his book, Charles Tilly seeks to determine the circumstances surrounding revolutions within Europe over a 500 year period. Tilly begins by defining revolution and then presents his hypothesis that revolutions stem from the state s actions. According to the author, a revolution consists of two parts, each broken into smaller parts of their own: a revolutionary situation and a revolutionary outcome. A revolutionary situation will consist of three qualifiers. First, a group, or coalition of groups, puts forward a claim to control of the state. The group coming forward must have a claim that cannot coexist with the current regime. This qualifier rules out issues between groups such as political parties that are able to coexist with each other under a basic framework for government. Second, a substantial amount of citizens must give the group support. If a group steps forward without support from the citizens then the power for that group to enact change is handicapped. Third, the rulers must be either unable or unwilling to silence the group. The rulers usually face this situation when their military power has weakened or been spread too thin, giving this definition of revolution a realist edge. Revolutionary outcomes consist of four parts. Members of either side defecting to the other would be considered a revolutionary outcome as it would swing state control into the favor of the group receiving the defectors. In addition, either the group coming forward can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The major goal is that changes should be transparent to the users and things should not break. I remember once trying to integrate a brand new v1 service into our offering. the challenge was that the v1 service we were going to depend on was in flux and things were broken at times not pointing fingers or blaming them but that is expected when you are building things from scratch at the beginning. Consequently I had to mock the expected responses and thankfully the set of possible responses then was quite small there were only two possible states since we were just starting out. I hardcoded these responses into our configuration files, wrote the code in such a way that it would read the configuration files and choose the expected response and return it. To the end users, it didn t make a difference however the beauty of it was that it gave us a way to slowly swithc to the service without any downtime. And when the v1 service did break, all we had to do was flip the flag / feature switch and we would fall back to the configuration without having to do a code deploy or spin up a live site incident. Eventually the service became mature and stable and the hardcoded configuration fallback went away. 3. With the current legal drinking age in America standing at 21, meaning that people under the age of 21 cannot purchase or consume alcoholic food or beverages, there is the question of whether or not to lower it to 18 or 19 years old. A major question that should be considered is how schools such as these two would be affected in their policies if the drinking age were lowered. One side to this debate is that the legal drinking age should be lowered from 21 to around 18 or 19 years old, and that young adults should be allowed to drink in controlled environments. This idea is presented by Ruth Engs, a professor of Applied Sciences at Indiana University. She states that environments such as taverns, pubs, restaurants and official university functions can be considered to be controlled environments. In these situations responsible drinking could be taught through role modeling and educational programs. Mature and sensible drinking behavior would be expected (Engs). This caused resentment in Japanese society because, although they were socially inferior, merchants enjoyed an elevated status economically (Kunihiko 1997). Fluoride was added to toothpaste to lower the amount of dental cavities that one gets, and works by protecting the enamel (outer hard layer over the tooth). Another use of fluoride is in drinking water. It was added to drinking water to also help with tooth decay. Many people are debating whether or not this is truly safe. The Ted talk Bring on the learning revolution! presented by Sir Ken Robinson, a well received speaker of TED and the essay College Pressures by William Zinsser, a journalist, portray the crisis students are undoubtedly undergoing. While they executed their main points through the means of distinct genres, their ideas complement each other when discussing the real life experiences students have in college. Whether it be economic, parental, peer, and or self induced pressures demonstrated to affect students (in the author s works), they don t seem overwhelming until one confronts them.
