Children With Disabilities Essay
Children with disabilities tend to have severe struggles and problems that can impact their daily lives,
personal growth, and education. Disabilities are restrictions due to impairment that can prevent a
person from performing an activity in a way that would be considered normal for several others in that
developmental stage. One of the many disabilities, which can be considered rare, is deafness or hard
of hearing. Majority of children are born deaf even if they have hearing parents due to genetic reasons
of complications during pregnancy. A premature baby also has the chance of losing their hearing
because they are prone to diseases and serious infections which can be a leading cause of deafness.
This disability can lead to delayed language, speech development, communication and cognitive
skills; which can later influence a low self esteem, isolation, learning difficulties, and behavior
problems.
Hearing loss or hard of hearing can cause delays in a child s development not only of It causes delay
in the development of receptive and expressive communication skills (speech and language). Because
of this, they have a learning deficit that causes learning problems that result in reduced academic
achievement, Children that suffer from hearing loss or hard of hearing tend to have communication
difficulties which has a possibility of leading the child to social isolation and poor self concept. In
many countries, the inclusion of deaf children, and in general children with

Second, there is a physical device that connects the computer to the network of lines he is
communicating over. It could be a modem, a network card, a radio transmitter, or a router. Third, there
is a set of software that allows the computer to send data across this network. There are a lot of layers
to this software. At the top level, the computer sends some type of packet of data to the device and
across the network. Typically, this is a TCP/IP packet. This basically tells you what the format of the
data has to be, and what pieces of software computers need to have to send this kind of data. Finally,
at the game layer, the game determines what other computer it needs to connect to, sends a request to
the network device to establish the connection, and then sends data to the device so it can be sent. The
network layer, when it receives data on a given connection, doesn t just store it, it sends it on to the
application who has the connection. So the connection is essentially between two applications.
Focusing on the physical access; the possibility that data can be send to players around the globe is all
thanks to the infrastructure of telecom companies. Starting with the local access, which is provided by
the local telephone companies (Local Exchange Carriers). These entities are responsible for ensuring
the necessary access to the network and the reliable transportation of the information. The Local

The Lord Of The Flies Zeitgeism Essay
A zeitgeist embodies the mood and spirit of a certain era in history. Although it isn t fully
understandable to the readers and the authors themselves, the set of ideals and beliefs that dominate
the actions taken by the members of society provide a simple basis of understanding of a time period.
Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, focuses on a post apocalyptic WWll world, in which a group of
British schoolboys is left stranded on a deserted island without any adult supervision. These innocent
children, in time, turn to savagery as the absence of order shifts them towards a more primitive
society. These turn of events, captured through the eyes of the adolescence, expresses Golding s
feelings of the evil nature of man and how even the purest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All the boys within the novel except Simon begin to turn to savagery shortly after they realize that
they would much rather have fun and play games than get their priorities straight, such as getting off
the island. This can be supported by the fact that Simon, a holy figure, realizes the presence of a beast
on the island, and how in time, it is to be revealed through Simon s thoughts that maybe it s only us
(Golding 82). The concept of this novel serves as a counterpart to another novel called The Coral
Island, written during the late 1850 s, almost a century before the publication of the Lord of the Flies
(Text 2). Instead of boys turning to savagery, The Coral Island captures the essence of the innocence,
and how the nature of unlawfulness is ineffective to their behavior. The Lord of the Flies, in response
to its counterpart, captures the true meaning of a zeitgeist, and how it embodies the mood of certain
eras within

Database Mangement and Retrieval System
Question 1.
Differentiate between database management system and information retrieval system by focusing on
their functionalities.
Database Management System (as known as DBMS) is a set of application that enable user to create,
edit, update, store and retrieve data from database files. By using DBMS, data in a database can be
added, deleted, changed, sorted and searched. DBMSs are usually used to manage employee
information of a big company, customer information and stock information. By using the DBMS,
there are advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of a DBMS is the same information can be

In information retrieval concept, metadiator is the one who helps to support the interaction between
the user and the information resource.
There are two main approaches to IR, which are statistical approach and semantic approach. In a
statistical approach, documents are analyzed and broken down into chunks of text and each word or
phrase is counted, weighted, and measured for relevance or importance. Meanwhile, semantic
approaches to IR use knowledge based techniques of retrieval the broadly rely on the syntactic,
lexical, sentential, discourse based, and pragmatic levels of knowledge understanding. In practice,
semantic approaches also apply some form of statistical analysis to improve the retrieval process.
Question 2.
Highlight the differences between data and information.
Data and information are related. Once data is processed, it calls information. But data is raw, plain
and unprocessed item and need to be processed. Data itself is useless until it is organized. Meanwhile,
information is a collection of data after it process. Generally, there are three main differences between
data and information such as their meaning, example and definition.
In the context of meaning, data is something plain, raw, unorganized facts that need to process to be
meaningful while information is a collection of many data that is meaningful to the user. For example,

Fashion Week Current Event Paper
Current Event: New York Fashion Week New York Fashion Week was a successful nine days this year.
There had been some doubt about the industry due to its state of flux recently. There was a larger
amount of diversity, in age, race and body type. Social media platforms such as Instagram were very
active with updates from the various shows that were taking place. The presence of social media has
grown to a relatively large size and its reach continues to grow. Marketing is heavily effected by those
who are influential, such as celebrities. Companies are attempting to gift their merchandise to those
influentials in hopes that they will seen and photographed in the articles of clothing, therefore
benefitting the company. Fashion Week has a large effect on the fashion world and will effect the

The demographics of the people around the location play a large part in which city the event will be
held in. It would serve no purpose to hold a fashion event in an area where there would be no desire to

makes it an ideal location if a company were to seek to attract business via a fashion show. Relative to
other fashion oriented communities New York is fairly out of the way in terms of distance, but the
people attracted to such events are not to be swayed. They are more willing to go great distances. The
models participating in the event are also effected by the cultural surroundings. The diversity of their
appearance is also determined by the cultural standards. These standards are created, often times, by

The And Political Disagreements Of Texas

Assignment 1
Texas, through hardship war and political disagreements, was finally established as a state in 1845; but
the question after finally acquiring statehood was to be how would the judges be selected. Ever since
1876, it has been an issue on whether judicial selection, the appointment or election of state judges,
are even beneficial. Judges are selected through partisan elections or nonpartisan elections through
which these elections are determined by financial funds, credibility, and political or non political party
views.
The election of judges can initially affect the way justice in Texas is seen by not balancing the true
equality of the justice system. Choosing the incorrect person for a high power position, such as
someone determined to play God like Adolf Hitler, can and will affect the community tremendously.
Experts from the Center for American Progress say ...judges are expected to be true to the law, not to
political parties or campaign contributors. (Corriher, Web) Other ways it affects Texas is through the
jurist s quality of votes, especially through partisan elections. They may be able to see who they are
voting for, but only base votes on what appeals to them. The Center for American progress addresses
this by commenting how, ...voters tend to vote for the judicial candidates from the party with which
they are affiliated. (Corriher, Web) Elections can take a toll on Texas

Electric Motors And The Future Of Electric Motors
Flick the switch and the lights usually comes on. This involves a but ton of electricity. Our past
ancestors would love to have these electric motors that we have today. You will find these motors from
everything to electric trains and remote controlled cars. As an example we will use a computer. They
usually have two but the biggest ones can have up to 12. They usually are used from the fan to cool it
down and the hard drive. These motors are in everything we use these days. From the fans we use to
the hair dryers to dry our hair. Without these we would still have horses and buggies. It s sad that we
use these things everyday and take them for granted. These little motors have six parts: Armature or
rotor, commutator, brushes, axle, field magnet, and DC power supply of some sort. Most electric
motors operate through the interaction between an electric motor s magnetic field and winding
currents to generate force. In certain applications, such as in regenerative braking with traction motors
in the transportation industry, electric motors can also be used in reverse as generators to convert
mechanical energy into electric power. Found in applications as diverse as industrial fans, blowers and
pumps, machine tools, household appliances, power tools, and disk drives, electric motors can be
powered by direct current sources, such as from batteries, motor vehicles or rectifiers, or by
alternating current sources, such as from the power grid, inverters or generators. Small motors may be
found in electric watches. General purpose motors with highly standardized dimensions and
characteristics provide convenient mechanical power for industrial use. The largest of electric motors
are used for ship propulsion, pipeline compression and pumped storage applications with ratings
reaching 100 megawatts. Electric motors may be classified by electric power source type, internal
construction, application, type of motion output, and so on. Thomas Davenport developed the first real
electric motor although Joseph Henry and Michael Faraday created early motion devices using
electromagnetic fields. The early motor created spinning disks or levers that rocked back and forth.
These devices could not do any work for humankind but were

The Importance Of Computational Thinking
Introduction
Computational Thinking, first introduced by Jeanette Wing (2006), a computer science researcher at
Carnegie Mellon University, as a strategy to solve problems where computing is part of the solution.
Computers help make daily discoveries in almost all areas of society expanding our understanding of
the world. Problem solving using the power of computers requires teaching students how to confront
problems in a way that creates these solutions (Wing, 2006, p. 33). In her article Computational
Thinking, Wing proposes that this strategy should be a fundamental skill, just like reading and writing,
a foundation for every student (p. 33).
Fundamental Skill
Computational thinking was not a new idea in 2006. Envisioning the potential of computers in
learning, Seymour Papert, a mathematician and learning theorist, in the early 1960s recognized that
computers could be used not just to deliver information and instruction, but also to transform learning.
He was a pioneer of children using computers as instruments for learning and for enhancing creativity,
innovation, and concretizing computational thinking. (Seymour Papert)
Papert earned two doctorates in mathematics, but what inspired him was the four years of work under
Jean Piaget at the International Centre of Genetic Epistemology, University of Geneva. Piaget s
influences are evident in Papert s work on how children create a sense of their world. (Blikstein,
2013,) The constructivist principles found in both

Ballet Shot Analysis
Following this long shot we are shown a close up shot of Nina s foot, during this shot Nina is
practicing a fouetté. The purpose of this shot is to convey to the viewer how much pressure Nina is
placing on her body, in particular, her feet. A lot of ballet in danced en pointe (on the tip of a person s
toes), this sort of pressure can be detrimental to one s physical well being. A lot of members in the
audience will have prior knowledge of how painful and strenuous it can be to place all of your body
weight on just your toes, thus reinforcing to the audience the large amount of pressure Nina is forcing
upon herself.
The audience can also see the scuff marks on the floor, this effectively demonstrates just how much
time Nina dedicates to practicing at home. As an audience, we generally know from personal
experience and exposure that this is what wood looks like after it has been scratched and used
excessively. From this the audience is able to interpret the extent to which this area has been used.
Nina s extensive and obsessive practice schedule has placed so much pressure and friction on the
wood that her petite body was successful in wearing away the surface of the wood. ... Show more

destroyed due to her excessive rehearsal schedule, showing just how much she practices and how
intense and prolonged these practices really are. This reaffirms the idea of obsession to the audience,
confirming to them that the purposeful addition of the ballet shoes in the background of this shot
effectively demonstrate how Nina s obsession is increasing, and how this leads to her inevitable self
destruction later on in the

A Woman Under The Influence
A Woman Under the Influence is an American dramatic film that was written in an entangled way to
illustrate a story. The auteur John Cassavetes wrote and directed this film that was released in
November of 1974. Cassavetes spent most of his career creating films that were more off the grid ; A
Woman Under the Influence is a prime example considering there was no other American film quite
comparable to it. This was a rare film because the internal fluctuations effectively allowed formulating
of the primary configurations. John Cassavetes rejected the elements and techniques of the American
movie and created his own method (LoBrutto). Cassavetes is known to be the pioneer of American
independent film. Independent filmmaking is difficult to establish an exact definition mostly because
it does not follow a set of specific guidelines. Conversely independent films are commonly designated
to be character driven, and these were the films that frequently had an extremely low budget. A
Woman Under the Influence and some of Cassavetes other films demonstrate in a similar form of
bstylistic characterizations of post World War II European film. Independent filmmakers typically
viewed their films as a film as an art form or as a business film. Nonetheless Cassavetes undoubtedly
viewed his films as a form of art.
The film opens with typical events any average family would endure. Gena Rowland starring as,
Mabel Longhetti is introduced to the audience as a typical housewife. It is

“Explain and Concept of ‘Peak Oil’, and Outline the...
Explain and concept of peak oil , and outline the possible consequences of peak oil for the global
economy
The theory of peak oil refers to the inevitable peaking and consequent decline in the amount of oil
produced in any nation throughout the world. The term peak oil usually refers to the time when the
maximum rate of global petroleum extraction is reached after which a terminal decline in the rate of
production occurs (Heinberg, R. 2003, pg. 97 98). There is an ongoing debate about when peak oil
will occur; some economists deem it to be decades away, while others believe it has come to pass all
ready (Strahan, P. 2007, pg. 202). As the world is so reliant on this finite resource it is a crucial
problem that needs to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the price of oil continues to rise it will spur a great demand for alternate energy sources to be
discovered. Coal and liquefied gas a feasible substitutions for oil, however they can only be used
provisionally as they are both finite resources as well. The ever increasing price for oil has the
potential to mitigate global warming as the harmful emission from fossil fuel usage promotes newer
cleaner alternatives to be sourced. This is not the solution for climate change, however it will aid in
decelerating global warming for a period of time. Means of transportation would be cut down too
much simpler methods, such as walking or riding a bicycle. (Sharpe, S. amp; Tranter, P. 2010 pg. 290).
Both of these methods of transport needs exertion of energy and can aid in improving ones fitness and
a change to a healthier lifestyle. This is a step forward in tackling the global obesity epidemic. With
the decline in the number of personal motor vehicles on the roads, urban areas can therefore be seen as
not only environmentally friendly but child friendly as well (Tranter, P. amp; Sharpe, S 2007).
It is evident that the global economy is extremely dependent on oil, and the concept of peak oil will
have a severe effect on civilization and the way in which our society functions. Food production and
transportation are a vital part of our economy and are taken for granted in today s society. However,
without oil it will see these areas

The Effect Of Heat Transmission On The Heat
Introduction:
Heat transmission is the process through which heat is transferred in swap of thermal energy that
exists between the physical systems, depending on the pressure and temperature by dissipating heat.
The essential modes of transferring the heat are convection, conduction or diffusion and radiation.
Heat is transferred from region of high temperature to low temperature region.
1.0 Heat transfer
The various modes of heat transfer are as follows:
1.1 Conduction: Conduction mode of heat transfer is the process in which transfer of energy is taken
place between the objects that are having the physical existence. In this process heat is spreads
through a matter when faster molecules and atoms run over with the slower neighboring atoms and
molecules. Faster atoms and molecule can transfer their little energy known as kinetic energy to the
slower ones. Conduction is also known as diffusion.
1.2 Convection Convection is also a fundamental mode of transferring the heat. In this process heat is
transferred from one place to another through the movement of fluids. Fluids are those substance
which are not having any fixed shape. These substances include liquid and gas state of matter.
(edinformatics.com, 2015)
1.3 Radiation In the previous forms of heat transfer modes heat is transferred from one place to
another or from one substance to another. But in radiation electromagnetic waves are involved in the
transfer of heats. In this process no particular substance or

Symptoms And Effects Of Major Depression
Despite an increase in the percentage of people who acknowledge symptoms of depression in 2010 in
comparison to the 1980 s, according to San Diego State University s Jean Twenge, there is not an
increase in the number of people willing to admit that they suffer from this mood disorder (S.D.
University, 2014). Consequently, it leaves one questioning how many of these individuals are
proceeding in regular life routines while allowing the disturbances of mood to escalate; thus,
increasing the symptoms and effects of major depression (Nevid, 2015, p. 504). According to Nevid,
the percentage of those remaining untreated is approximately fifty percent, with the percentages being
highest amongst Latinos and African Americans (Nevid, 2015). Additionally, it is known that the
recurrence of major depression, which is considered the most common type of depressive disorder,
characterized by a downcast disposition, an outlook of insignificance, and a lack of interest to engage
in normal activities, is highly likely (Nevid, 2015, p. 505). Moreover, this form of depression is often
accompanied by fatigue, sleep issues, changes in eating habits, anxiety, guilt, irritability, concentration
difficulties, bodily discomforts, and suicidal thoughts (Nevid, 2015, p. 505). Consequently, having
grasped an understanding of this form of depression, it is important to recognize the various

Taylor uses a fly to describe the people that were weak, and fell easily into Satan s web that would

Compare And Contrast Communism And Communism
Ideologies create wars.
Throughout history there have been dozens and dozens of systems of government created to achieve
what some would call The Perfect Society . Because everyone has a different idea of this perfect
society, nations have collapsed and there have been millions killed. Government is the most important
entity in a citizen s life. Why? Because government controls people; every single aspect of their lives
and all of their freedoms. The two most talked about and contrasted systems are Communism and
Capitalism. They have been compared and contrasted on multiple fronts as to why they do or do not
work, and which one is more effective. Capitalism and Communism are two forms of government that
have very different and clashing views on the world, their main differences are about economic
equality, the government s philosophy, and the government s role in its citizens lives.
Karl Marx turned the world on its head when he published his world famous communist book,
Communist Manifesto. Until the release of his book much of the world s governments were laid back,
individuals owned private property, business, and the profits that came from them. Marx however was
furious at the large gap between the rich and the poor, Thus, he created the theory of Communism. In
his book he states the core beliefs of Communism; that there is an uneven distribution of wealth in the
capitalist world, therefore if the government owned all privately owned assets of its citizens and re

High Impulsivity And Novelty Seeking Drugs
The article, High Impulsivity Predicts the Switch to Compulsive Cocaine Talking, sought to determine
whether impulsivity and novelty seeking (which are behavioral markers of addictive drugs) place
individuals in the vulnerability of compulsive seeking of the drug. The researchers used laboratory rats
to test the vulnerability. Researchers found that high reactivity to novelty predicted the likelihood of
rats seeking cocaine self administration. However, high impulsivity seemed to predict the
development of addiction like behavior in the laboratory rats. The results obtained by researchers has
changed the perspective from the impulsivity aspect of drug use towards the compulsivity factor
during the initial stages of addiction development. Interestingly, the compulsive factor can be
generated through neural physiology (i.e. neural mechanisms or diminished function of cortical
function).
In terms of lecture material, as discussed, drugs (such as stimulants) produce a hedonic state in
individuals that leads them to greater drug use. The sensation of false euphoria can be what drives
individuals who actively seek the drug. This can make drug users to impulsively seek drugs. As stated
in the article, their evidence demonstrated that high levels of impulsivity can come before the onset of
compulsive drug use.
As discussed in lecture, although cocaine and caffeine are considered to be both stimulants, their
effects are very different. There is a particular mechanism of biological

Reflection About Autism
Throughout this unit, we have learnt about autism a common neurological disorder and how to format
and write an effective essay. Also, while reading the novel The Curious Incident of the Dog in the
Night Time and watching the film Rain Main, we learnt how two different autistic people present
themselves in different situations. Both stories taught me that those who have autism are equally as
capable to attain any goals they set. Also, throughout this unit we discussed key elements to include in
an effective essay, and how to format those components. Overall, in this unit, there were many new
topics learnt, that can benefit me in future years. To begin with, throughout this entire unit, our central
topic was autism. We gained new knowledge on autism in many ways. As a class, we read a novel The
Curios Incident of the Dog in the Night Time which follows the journey of an autistic boy;
Christopher. Along the way, I learnt many new things about autism that I was not aware of prior to
reading the novel. I learnt that every autistic person is different from another; all autistic people are
not the same and each reacts to differently in different situations. To add on, I also learnt that there is a
spectrum of autism, everyone is placed differently on the spectrum, which shows how they re able to
communicate themselves, or present themselves to the people around them. To add on, I learnt that
autistic people understand concepts differently as their brains are different than a

Tips For A Sized Stroller System That Has All The Bells...
When you have a baby, you need to have stroller, if you are ever going to leave leave your house. Of
course, you will likely want to have a full sized stroller system that has all the bells and whistles.
Many of them are like baby Cadillacs. However, full sized strollers have some major liabilities. They
are heavy. In fact, they are often so heavy that it is impossible to get them into the car, so you can push
your baby around when you get to your final destination. If you are lucky enough to win the struggle
of getting the stroller in and out of your vehicle, the next task is setting it up. That can often be a
difficult task as well. If can be enough to convince any parent to not bother with the struggle and just

Following are some of the factors to look at during your search for a new lightweight stroller. Type
There are two types of lightweight strollers, so your first consideration should be which one of these
two will best fit your needs. The most common type of lightweight stroller is the umbrella stroller.
This type of stroller is typically the one parents envision when they consider a second stroller that is
compact enough to take on the go. This type of stroller is generally basic and does not include any
extras that are common on full sized strollers. The other type of lightweight stroller is a bit bigger than
an umbrella stroller but not as big as a standard stroller. This type of lightweight stroller generally is
more comfortable and has a few conveniences such as under seat storage and larger sunshades. Budget
As with most items you buy, price is always a consideration. Lightweight strollers have a wide price
range, depending on the features you are looking for. It is not hard to find a lightweight stroller to fit
any budget, and it is equally as easy to find one that will break your bank account. So, it is a good idea
to set your budget before you start looking for a stroller so you can easily eliminate some choices right
off the bat. Durability Just as lightweight strollers come in a variety of price ranges, they also vary in
their durability. Before you purchase a

Do You Have A Reasonable Expectation Of Privacy
This is really a question that s nearly impossible to answer without some context, since the context
within which you are using the Internet is going to have a significant impact on whether or not you
have a reasonable expectation of privacy.
If you re using your computer at work, and your company has a stated policy regarding monitoring
your use (perhaps even absent that policy, depending on how you read the case law), then you do not
have any reasonable expectation of privacy in anything that you do online using your work computer,
whether that s during your work day, after hours, or while traveling. Your company can legitimately
eavesdrop on anything you do with their equipment, and there s little you can do about it.

When you re sitting in your computer room at home, searching the web, do you have a reasonable
expectation of privacy? Again, let s compare that to a known situation when you call someone on the
phone from your bedroom, you have a reasonable expectation of privacy in relation to that phone call.
Thus, it s likely that you have a similar expectation in regard to your Internet usage.
Of course, all of those things can be change by minor changes in context if you re in your bedroom,
but posting a status update to Facebook that s available to everyone, do you have a reasonable
expectation of privacy in that information? Hardly. If you re using some form of encrypted drive /
communication method that requires some devious form of hackery to break open, could you have a
reasonable expectation of privacy even at work?
And there s yet another permutation here, whether or not you have a reasonable expectation in the
privacy of data that other people are storing about you if someone has your SSN or medical
information in their database, do you have a reasonable expectation of privacy in that information
remaining private? Medical is an easy answer, HIPAA basically defines your expectations for you.

The Odessa Steps Sequence
Sergei Eisenstein was a Soviet film director, who directed Battleship Potemkin. A famous scene in the
film is the Odessa Steps sequence. The Odessa Steps sequence is an example of Eisensteinian
attractions, which is a tactic that is used to shock or jolt the audience, mainly through editing. The
scene I am describing is segment C. Segment C is the scene that consists of the cherub statues, the
collapsing iron gate, and the lion statues. Segment C consists of nine shots. The first shot is a cherub
extending its right arm above its head to reach a club. The cherub is looking straight ahead.
Additionally, the cherub is sitting with its legs wide open. The second shot in the segment is another
cherub looking to the left. The cherub is grasping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yes, the narrative is disrupted by the cherubs and the lion statues, but compared to the other segments
the cherubs and the lion statues do not intensify the shots of the iron gate collapsing compared to the
occurrences in segment B and segment A, where those shots together build upon the intensity of the
shots within their own segments. In segment B the shots continue to intensify the narrative especially
seeing the helpless baby in the carriage on the cusp of descending down the steps, and then the solider
slashing people with his saber, and the woman who was shot in the eye. In my opinion, these all
continue to intensify the narrative because the shots are brief but it s all shocking and addresses the
spectator especially when the woman who is shot in the eye looks at the camera in horror. Segment B
continues to shock one, whereas segment C disrupts the continuity of the scene. Segment A is also
disruptive like segment C because of the title that says and suddenly, and the lady who is shaking her
head and yelling, and then the lady with the white parasol heading toward the camera, although this is
disruptive it also intensifies the narrative because the narrative completely switches from the people

Humanism In Thomas More s Utopia By Thomas More
Thomas More writes Utopia, the comedic, fictional travel log about a no place society to discuss the
various religious, political, and social ideals influenced by humanism. A medieval classically trained
humanist, Thomas More is also influenced by the late medieval social, political, and religious
movements developing from the Plague and the Hundred Years War. In Utopia, More illustrates a
humanist society by discussing agriculture in the economy, religion and happiness, and the structure of
the government which was ultimately influenced by the late medieval ideals.
Thomas More elaborates on economy in his book Utopia comparing it to the economy in Europe. The
economy of Utopia is based on agriculture. Although agriculture is not a luxurious job, everyone has
to do it because it is a shared experience. One will not complete this task for more than two years
because everyone rotates in and out of the job. This is an example of humanism as the society
recognizes that individuals need relief. Human beings are not to be exploited, it is a joint effort as seen
through the idea of civic humanism; commoners are social utilities. In comparison to Utopia, the land
in England was owned by the lords. The farmers worked for the lords who eventually profited from
the land. Agricultural was a job for the poor, watched over by the wealthy. In Utopia, each city had its
own land, owned by the cities who then profit from the land. Therefore, they are not exploiting

Executive Summary
This report aims to analyze and attempt to reduce Logan airport s delay problem in the year 2000. The
airport was experiencing unacceptable numbers of delays due to three main problems: 1) Weather
conditions, 2) Mix of aircrafts, and 3) Overscheduling. Under normal weather, the three runway
configuration is sufficient to handle incoming and outgoing planes. However, the delay problem at
Logan is the most acute during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3. Overscheduling
Although overscheduling was not considered a problem at Logan Airport when the case was written, it
was proved to be a potential problem in the future as the number of passengers that use Logan Airport
increases. Since 90% of the flights started or ended there, the airport has little slack to recover from
delays because the flights arrived uniformly over each hour, unlike other airports with more staggered
schedule. In general, increasing the capacity of the airport can solve the flight delay problem at Logan
Airport.
In order to help Logan Airport reduce flight delays, four alternatives will be examined in the report: 1)
Regional solution, 2) New runway, 3) Peak period pricing (PPP), and 4) The combination of new
runway and PPP. Recommendations will be provided after analytical discussions of each alternative.
Assumptions and Facts
This report is based on several assumptions drawn from the facts outline in the Logan case. First, we
will assume that Logan airport operates 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Furthermore, it is
assumed that the processing system is a single phase service process, which means that each server
(runway) performs the same set of activities on one customer (aircraft) at a time. Each aircraft is
processed in the first come first serve (FCFS) order. Since 90%

Rubbish Can Be Sayd To Have Value In A Consumer Society
Outline the ways in which rubbish can be said to have value in a consumer society.
A consumer society is increasingly organized around consumption of goods and leisure, rather than
the production of materials and services. It rests on consuming material goods as a supreme
characteristic of value. Therefore individuals who do not consume are viewed as undervalued. Peoples
consumer choices (taste and style) are seen to be indicators of who they are as a person and of their
moves within the games of class, prestige, status, hierarchy, fashionability ( Features of a Consumer
Society McGregor 2011). Many spending and investments are committed to consuming, regardless of

Up to now the focus is on the idea that rubbish doesn t have value. That is, rubbish has no value to the
person who throws it away. ( Rubbish Society , 2009 p.118).It might still have negative value, in that
disposing of it money and costs time. For example if a person has to take any of his household items
for disposal then it will have negative value for him, considering transportation costs and the
consumed time
But rubbish can potentially have value for others. As the old saying goes: One man s junk is another
man s treasure .(Unknown). This is essential for defining how come there are businesses of rubbish.
Rubbish allows them to make money by disposing it off in proper manner. These businesses turn
rubbish into something of value. They make this possible by converting it into marketable products or
by moving it away for dumping. ( Rubbish Society , 2009 p.119). The growth in the recycling industry
and people s increased awareness and participation in recycling programs all over the world has also
created an opening for larger organizations to operate recycling and disposal operations on an
international level. The process of recycling can thus give value to rubbish and waste by producing

The Effects Of Soda On High School Vending Machines...
You may be familiar with recent regulation, which was initiated for the 2014 15 school year, where the
United States Department of Agriculture enforced regulatory guidelines on food items sold in schools
across the nation. Although there was previously a nutritional requirement for food in school, as
Marion Nestle, a Professor of Nutrition at New York University, points out in her very influential
article of the time, this requirement [did] not apply to foods sold outside of school cafeterias in snack
bars, school stores, or vending machines (Nestle 308). Many proponents of the recent regulation are
astonished that such regulation was not in place from the beginning. Unfortunately, this action was
influenced by an ever rising concern for the obesity rate in the US population, and not a desire to
proactively encourage a healthy lifestyle. The history of soda in high school vending machines carries
with it heavy economic interest, a plethora of lobbying and some imperative details, which we may
find useful in our consideration of diet soda. Coca Cola and PepsiCo are the two major companies that
compete in the soft drink arena. By the late 1990s these companies were already well established in
high school vending machines, but the competitive market required quite a bit more action (Nestle
310). In fact the companies began to, as Nestle claims, view school children as an attractive marketing
opportunity, and use every possible means to promote their products to this young,

Fly Away Peter is essentially a story about life. Through the life of Jim Saddler the reader becomes

unfolding through various broadening experiences that lead to Jim s eventual understanding of the
world and his own self. However, to simply say that this understanding is enhanced solely by his

his bitter outlook and defeatist attitude, shows Jim what he does not want to become. In his father Jim
see a possible mirror that could well reflect what Jim will become if he does not hold him at arm s
length, to keep from being infected . Through Wizzer, Jim becomes aware of his own capacity for
black anger . Wizzer is significant because of what he reveals to Jim of his own character. The

Crumple Zones Science
Introduction Scientists have made a big impact in car safety by using the role of science. They have
created many ways of increasing the possibility to survive a crash, by testing real car crashes and
simulated car crashes. In this one world essay, I m going to talk about how scientists have developed
crumple zones and have made them work against car crashes. Crumple zones Crumple zones, is an
area in the vehicle, that is designed to absorb the energy of the impact when crushing, preventing it
from being transmitted to the passengers inside the car. Scientists are still working on many factors
that need to be worked on in a crash. For example; racecars will have more severe impacts than
streetcars. Crumple zones are no the same for every car. The car varies on size and weight, so
designers have to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The force always is based on the speed and mass of the car, and the speed and mass of whatever the
vehicle hits. What crumple zones do is that they reduce the force of the crush, so the force doesn t
reach to the passengers. When the car crashes into a stationary object, some force is transferred to the
object. ...... Crumple zones and other parts of the car, are built with special materials inside, that are
designed to be damaged and broken. Crumple zones take the most force of the crash as possible, so
the other parts of the car as well as the passengers, don t suffer the effects. Designers can t only worry
about the impact and the absorption of kinetic energy when the car crashes; it has to also focus on
other areas. If the whole car was made out of crumple zones, when the car crashes, the passengers will
be thrown out . The car has crumple zones in the front and in the back, meaning that hard and rigid
materials design all the other areas, so that the occupants have a safe crash. Scientists have discovered
that airbags are very useful, so the passenger doesn t jump or crash their face into a hard

Working Environment, Performance Management Essay
We define performance management as the process through which managers ensure that employees
activities and outputs are congruent with the organization s goals (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, Wright,
2016 ). In today s working environment, performance management allows dialogue around
performance improvement, which happens to be a system that many company s have adapted. With
there being high competition to build up an exemplary employee and be able to maintain them
different companies are rewarding and recognizing employees in different ways. There are companies
that believe that in order to motivate and retain an employee there has to be an incentive. However,
there are other companies that think the complete opposite, and believe that an employee will work
harder and be more motivated when the job is a non commission base role or an incentive is expected.
Argumentation/Discussion There are two different perspectives when it comes it incentives. The
argument for companies that believe incentives are a great way to drive the growth and profit of the
company is as follow. Incentives motivate an employee, and there are experts that state that bonuses,
rewards and incentives attract an employee to improve their work performance, and meet deadlines. It
is believed that incentives creates loyalty and trust between the employee and its employer improving
its relationship. There was a research with MIT students, and they were given a set of challenges and

Similarities Between Pretty Woman and Breakfast at...
Have you ever seen immoral films? I have. According to the dictionary of American English (4th Ed.
Longman), Immoral is defined as morally wrong, and not acceptable by society. Pretty Woman and
Breakfast at Tiffany s are two very immoral movie pictures. Although, they have a lot of differences;
however, they are similar in three specific ways: their attraction, their poverty, and their
transformation One important similarity between Pretty Woman and Breakfast at Tiffany s is their
attraction. In Pretty Woman, Vivian is a Los Angeles prostitute with her lifestyle and a need to pay her
rent meets Edward Lewis, a wealthy, a successful businessman on Hollywood Boulevard to ask for
directions. She was willing to assist him, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After 2E leaves, Holly enters Paul s apartment and learns that he is a writer who has not had anything
published in five years. Another similarity is their poverty. Not only Vivian, but also Holly does not
have any money, they are very poor. They have almost the same lifestyle because all of them were
looking for money. They were willing to do anything to survive and pay their rent. Their dreams are
one day to find somewhere out, there is a rich, good looking and intelligent man who is looking to
marry them. Vivian couldn t go shopping on Rodeo Drive; the saleswomen disdain her because of her
unsophisticated appearance. She was trying to talk to Barnard Thompson (Hector Elizondo), the hotel
manager pretending that Edward was her uncle, after a long conversation he surrenders and decides to
help her buy a dress, even coaching her on dinner etiquette. Holly, her job was every weekly visit to
Sally Tomato (Alan Reed), a mobster confined at Sing Sing prison. Tomato s lawyer O Shaughnessy
pays her $100 a week to receive the weather report.
Last but not least, one similarity between Vivian and Holly are their transformation. Anyone can see
that Vivian has been transformed. Edward returns and is visibly amazed by Vivian s transformation.
Vivian job is to escort Edward everywhere and she needs to be well dressed. She does her job very
well. The first one was to go to the business dinner. It does not end well, however, with Edward

Christian Persecutions
Throughout the first four centuries, Christianity began to plant its roots and establish itself as a
legitimate religious presence. However, just as the Christians battled other religious presences over
what are correct teachings and practices, they also were prompted by the Roman Empire to conform or
face consequences. These consequences came in the form of a series of persecutions, which in turn,
triggered different responses from the Christians. The persecutions of Christians occurred over a span
of ten Roman Emperors and about three hundred years. Thus, over the years of persecution, numerous
reasons arose that caused this treatment of Christians by the Roman Empire. During the latter half of
the first century, Christianity was becoming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Attacks on the Christians could not be formed due to the Empire s lack of stability at the end of the
third century. However, at the end of the third century and beginning of the fourth century, under
Diocletian, the Empire was revamped and the peace ceased. Diocletian believed that the Christians
were a hindrance to the Empire s unity, which angered the gods. In 303, Diocletian launched a purge
of Christians throughout the Empire. During the attack, churches and scriptures were to be destroyed
and the rights of Christians were taken away (Euseb. H.E.). Then, following a Christian rebellion in
Syria, Diocletian had all clergy imprisoned due to this rebellion proving the Christians as a physical
threat. Also, the execution of more than two hundred Christians at Nicomedia occurred because of the
out lash in Syria. Finally, a order of people to make a sacrifice to Roman gods was established, but
received resistance from Christians despite imprisonment and torture. Although the events in this
persecution were the most gruesome, the Empire did not have the ability to wipe out the Christians via
purge due to the Christian growth that had occurred over the four

Characteristics Of Alla Turcca
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the well known composer is evidently mentioned in many places. Even
people who do not have experience with musical instruments tend to hear his name everywhere. When
he was 28, he published Sonata in A, K.331, 3rd movement: Rondo Alla Turca. Alla turca or Turkish
March is popular and one of Mozart s many famous pieces. He was also inspired by the Turkish
Janissary Bands when he wrote this hence the name Alla Turca or Turkish March . In this essay, we
are going to discuss about the musical features rhythm, melody and also musical features that played
smaller parts like texture, timbre and characteristics of Alla Turca.
Focusing on the interesting and unique rhythm of this piece in relation to the Turkish Janissary style,
we will know for a fact that the rhythm which is an important element of this piece indeed determines
and differentiates it from the standard classical style of music. Taking into consideration a Turkish
Janissary style, the percussion instruments often play this rhythm.
Turkish soldiers often march to this rhythm of Left..Left..Left,Right..Left
Which in this case is also present in Mozart s influenced Alla Turca in bars 1 4. ... Show more content

Proceeding on to the third bar, the strong beats which are the b s, gives a sense of the turkish rhythm
which is Left,Right . Lastly, the high c in the fourth bar is the Left of the common turkish style
rhythmic pattern. Another fact to take into consideration is that turkish Janissary music is often played
in either duple or irregular time so as to make it easier for the turkish soldiers to march in which in this
case Mozart chose to recreate a sense of turkishness in his piece by making the meter of Rondo Alla

Why People Have Joint Pain
Why Many People have Joint Pain and How to Help Ease It As people age they begin to feel that they
are experiencing pain in their joints more so than they did during their youth. There can be many
reasons for this pain. Or can it be just a part of ageing. During our youth we don t pay much attention
to how hard we played, what we eat, or if we took vitamins. Our mothers for the most part were
responsible for what we eat, how much sleep we got, and in general how well we take care of
ourselves. As children our bodies are pretty resilient and other than broken bones, skinned knees,
bumps, and bruises pretty much heal and go away without any need or concern to see a physician.
Years ago mothers made sure that we got the proper amount of sleep, which for the most part once we
got to sleep our bodies took care of how much sleep we got all by its self, for most children that was
anywhere from 8 to 10 hours a night if undisturbed. Most children got a balanced diet, some even got
a daily vitamin or eat foods that were enriched in vitamins such as cereal and milk. A lot of kids ate in
the cafeteria at school. Schools did their best to make sure that the lunches were well balanced.
Children for the most part played outside for recess which usually involved some sort of running,
hopping, skipping, or throwing a ball. And when they got home after some kind of snack they couldn t
wait to get out to ride their bike, or play some sort of game that normally again

The Cast And Their Performance Can Change Viewers...
The cast and their performance can change viewers experience and judgement of a film. It takes looks
and strong acting from the cast to bring characters to life, but this film made changes where
actor/actresses either enhance the film or not.
Norman Bates appearance of Psycho by Robert Bloch is vastly different from the film Psycho directed
by Alfred Hitchcock. The book provides descriptions of Norman physical attributes such as, the fat,
bespectacled face and heard the soft, hesitant voice (p.3) and he had lived in this house for all of the
forty years of his life (p.1), illustrating that Norman is a forty year old obese person. In the film,
Norman Bates played by Anthony Perkins who is in his twenties. The first glance at Perkins portrayal
as Norman, the viewers can tell that Norman s age is in the twenties. He appears as a tall man with a
clean cut look and no facial hair. Watching the film; Norman Bates affects audience s interpretation
because the viewers expect to see Norman as overweight person like in the book yet the viewers get
Perkins depiction instead. As viewers, this change brings mix feelings which did not enhance the
experience early on.
There was a minor change in the psychological trait of Norman Bates. The novel illustrates three split
personalities of Norman Bates where the film focuses on two split personalities. In the novel, Norman
is divided into three minds. Firstly, Norman Bates as a child that is obedient and is inseparable from

The Necklace Dishonest
In the story ¨The Necklace¨ by Guy de Maupassant Mme. Loisel ends up losing her friends necklace
and has to buy her a new one. She has many misfortunes and blames them all on her friend, Mme.
Forestier. She does not take her own responsibilities by blaming it on other people instead of herself.
Mme. Loisel does not tell Mme. Forestier about the lost necklace, she instead lies to her about it by
saying she will return it soon. In the story, it is also clear that Mme. Loisel s husband buys her an
invitation and is unhappy because she has nothing to wear. This shows that Mme. Loisel is ungrateful,
irresponsible, and dishonest Mme. Loisel had many misfortunes because of the diamond necklace. She

Hippotherapy Vs Physical Therapy
coordination and balance, these effects were observed in less time compared to the conventional
physical therapy (PT). Specifically, McGibon et al (2009) observed reduction of increased muscle
tone.(McGibbon, 2009). For this reason, we understand that hippotherapy is more cost efficient and
offers a better long term profit. Finally we come to the last point is the large number of therapists
needed for making a single session. But on the other hand, we have the creation of new jobs and thus
cost efficiency. Conclusion: We can claim that hippotherapy as a treatment may be more accurate as a
method of rehabilitation but it must be remembered that it produces positive and faster results in
children with cerebral palsy (CP). This balances the cost

  • 2. Children With Disabilities Essay Children with disabilities tend to have severe struggles and problems that can impact their daily lives, personal growth, and education. Disabilities are restrictions due to impairment that can prevent a person from performing an activity in a way that would be considered normal for several others in that developmental stage. One of the many disabilities, which can be considered rare, is deafness or hard of hearing. Majority of children are born deaf even if they have hearing parents due to genetic reasons of complications during pregnancy. A premature baby also has the chance of losing their hearing because they are prone to diseases and serious infections which can be a leading cause of deafness. This disability can lead to delayed language, speech development, communication and cognitive skills; which can later influence a low self esteem, isolation, learning difficulties, and behavior problems. Hearing loss or hard of hearing can cause delays in a child s development not only of It causes delay in the development of receptive and expressive communication skills (speech and language). Because of this, they have a learning deficit that causes learning problems that result in reduced academic achievement, Children that suffer from hearing loss or hard of hearing tend to have communication difficulties which has a possibility of leading the child to social isolation and poor self concept. In many countries, the inclusion of deaf children, and in general children with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Second, there is a physical device that connects the computer to the network of lines he is communicating over. It could be a modem, a network card, a radio transmitter, or a router. Third, there is a set of software that allows the computer to send data across this network. There are a lot of layers to this software. At the top level, the computer sends some type of packet of data to the device and across the network. Typically, this is a TCP/IP packet. This basically tells you what the format of the data has to be, and what pieces of software computers need to have to send this kind of data. Finally, at the game layer, the game determines what other computer it needs to connect to, sends a request to the network device to establish the connection, and then sends data to the device so it can be sent. The network layer, when it receives data on a given connection, doesn t just store it, it sends it on to the application who has the connection. So the connection is essentially between two applications. Focusing on the physical access; the possibility that data can be send to players around the globe is all thanks to the infrastructure of telecom companies. Starting with the local access, which is provided by the local telephone companies (Local Exchange Carriers). These entities are responsible for ensuring the necessary access to the network and the reliable transportation of the information. The Local Exchange ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Lord Of The Flies Zeitgeism Essay A zeitgeist embodies the mood and spirit of a certain era in history. Although it isn t fully understandable to the readers and the authors themselves, the set of ideals and beliefs that dominate the actions taken by the members of society provide a simple basis of understanding of a time period. Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, focuses on a post apocalyptic WWll world, in which a group of British schoolboys is left stranded on a deserted island without any adult supervision. These innocent children, in time, turn to savagery as the absence of order shifts them towards a more primitive society. These turn of events, captured through the eyes of the adolescence, expresses Golding s feelings of the evil nature of man and how even the purest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All the boys within the novel except Simon begin to turn to savagery shortly after they realize that they would much rather have fun and play games than get their priorities straight, such as getting off the island. This can be supported by the fact that Simon, a holy figure, realizes the presence of a beast on the island, and how in time, it is to be revealed through Simon s thoughts that maybe it s only us (Golding 82). The concept of this novel serves as a counterpart to another novel called The Coral Island, written during the late 1850 s, almost a century before the publication of the Lord of the Flies (Text 2). Instead of boys turning to savagery, The Coral Island captures the essence of the innocence, and how the nature of unlawfulness is ineffective to their behavior. The Lord of the Flies, in response to its counterpart, captures the true meaning of a zeitgeist, and how it embodies the mood of certain eras within ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are two main approaches to IR, which are statistical approach and semantic approach. In a statistical approach, documents are analyzed and broken down into chunks of text and each word or phrase is counted, weighted, and measured for relevance or importance. Meanwhile, semantic approaches to IR use knowledge based techniques of retrieval the broadly rely on the syntactic, lexical, sentential, discourse based, and pragmatic levels of knowledge understanding. In practice, semantic approaches also apply some form of statistical analysis to improve the retrieval process. Question 2. Highlight the differences between data and information. Data and information are related. Once data is processed, it calls information. But data is raw, plain and unprocessed item and need to be processed. Data itself is useless until it is organized. Meanwhile, information is a collection of data after it process. Generally, there are three main differences between data and information such as their meaning, example and definition. The And Political Disagreements Of Texas Dominique Hollie Professor Bitzenhofer December 1, 2016 Govt 2306 023 Assignment 1 Texas, through hardship war and political disagreements, was finally established as a state in 1845; but the question after finally acquiring statehood was to be how would the judges be selected. Ever since 1876, it has been an issue on whether judicial selection, the appointment or election of state judges, are even beneficial. Judges are selected through partisan elections or nonpartisan elections through which these elections are determined by financial funds, credibility, and political or non political party views. The election of judges can initially affect the way justice in Texas is seen by not balancing the true equality of the justice system. Choosing the incorrect person for a high power position, such as someone determined to play God like Adolf Hitler, can and will affect the community tremendously. Experts from the Center for American Progress say ...judges are expected to be true to the law, not to political parties or campaign contributors. • 11. Electric Motors And The Future Of Electric Motors Flick the switch and the lights usually comes on. This involves a but ton of electricity. Our past ancestors would love to have these electric motors that we have today. You will find these motors from everything to electric trains and remote controlled cars. As an example we will use a computer. They usually have two but the biggest ones can have up to 12. They usually are used from the fan to cool it down and the hard drive. These motors are in everything we use these days. From the fans we use to the hair dryers to dry our hair. Without these we would still have horses and buggies. It s sad that we use these things everyday and take them for granted. These little motors have six parts: Armature or rotor, commutator, brushes, axle, field magnet, and DC power supply of some sort. Most electric motors operate through the interaction between an electric motor s magnetic field and winding currents to generate force. In certain applications, such as in regenerative braking with traction motors in the transportation industry, electric motors can also be used in reverse as generators to convert mechanical energy into electric power. Found in applications as diverse as industrial fans, blowers and pumps, machine tools, household appliances, power tools, and disk drives, electric motors can be powered by direct current sources, such as from batteries, motor vehicles or rectifiers, or by alternating current sources, such as from the power grid, inverters or generators. Small motors may be found in electric watches. General purpose motors with highly standardized dimensions and characteristics provide convenient mechanical power for industrial use. The largest of electric motors are used for ship propulsion, pipeline compression and pumped storage applications with ratings reaching 100 megawatts. Electric motors may be classified by electric power source type, internal construction, application, type of motion output, and so on. Thomas Davenport developed the first real electric motor although Joseph Henry and Michael Faraday created early motion devices using electromagnetic fields. The early motor created spinning disks or levers that rocked back and forth. These devices could not do any work for humankind but were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Importance Of Computational Thinking Introduction Computational Thinking, first introduced by Jeanette Wing (2006), a computer science researcher at Carnegie Mellon University, as a strategy to solve problems where computing is part of the solution. Computers help make daily discoveries in almost all areas of society expanding our understanding of the world. Problem solving using the power of computers requires teaching students how to confront problems in a way that creates these solutions (Wing, 2006, p. 33). In her article Computational Thinking, Wing proposes that this strategy should be a fundamental skill, just like reading and writing, a foundation for every student (p. 33). Fundamental Skill Computational thinking was not a new idea in 2006. Envisioning the potential of computers in learning, Seymour Papert, a mathematician and learning theorist, in the early 1960s recognized that computers could be used not just to deliver information and instruction, but also to transform learning. He was a pioneer of children using computers as instruments for learning and for enhancing creativity, innovation, and concretizing computational thinking. (Seymour Papert) Papert earned two doctorates in mathematics, but what inspired him was the four years of work under Jean Piaget at the International Centre of Genetic Epistemology, University of Geneva. Piaget s influences are evident in Papert s work on how children create a sense of their world. (Blikstein, 2013,) The constructivist principles found in both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Ballet Shot Analysis Following this long shot we are shown a close up shot of Nina s foot, during this shot Nina is practicing a fouetté. The purpose of this shot is to convey to the viewer how much pressure Nina is placing on her body, in particular, her feet. A lot of ballet in danced en pointe (on the tip of a person s toes), this sort of pressure can be detrimental to one s physical well being. A lot of members in the audience will have prior knowledge of how painful and strenuous it can be to place all of your body weight on just your toes, thus reinforcing to the audience the large amount of pressure Nina is forcing upon herself. The audience can also see the scuff marks on the floor, this effectively demonstrates just how much time Nina dedicates to practicing at home. As an audience, we generally know from personal experience and exposure that this is what wood looks like after it has been scratched and used excessively. From this the audience is able to interpret the extent to which this area has been used. Nina s extensive and obsessive practice schedule has placed so much pressure and friction on the wood that her petite body was successful in wearing away the surface of the wood. ... • 14. A Woman Under The Influence A Woman Under the Influence is an American dramatic film that was written in an entangled way to illustrate a story. The auteur John Cassavetes wrote and directed this film that was released in November of 1974. Cassavetes spent most of his career creating films that were more off the grid ; A Woman Under the Influence is a prime example considering there was no other American film quite comparable to it. This was a rare film because the internal fluctuations effectively allowed formulating of the primary configurations. John Cassavetes rejected the elements and techniques of the American movie and created his own method (LoBrutto). Cassavetes is known to be the pioneer of American independent film. Independent filmmaking is difficult to establish an exact definition mostly because it does not follow a set of specific guidelines. Conversely independent films are commonly designated to be character driven, and these were the films that frequently had an extremely low budget. A Woman Under the Influence and some of Cassavetes other films demonstrate in a similar form of bstylistic characterizations of post World War II European film. Independent filmmakers typically viewed their films as a film as an art form or as a business film. Nonetheless Cassavetes undoubtedly viewed his films as a form of art. The film opens with typical events any average family would endure. Gena Rowland starring as, Mabel Longhetti is introduced to the audience as a typical housewife. It is ... Explain and concept of peak oil , and outline the possible consequences of peak oil for the global economy The theory of peak oil refers to the inevitable peaking and consequent decline in the amount of oil produced in any nation throughout the world. The term peak oil usually refers to the time when the maximum rate of global petroleum extraction is reached after which a terminal decline in the rate of production occurs (Heinberg, R. 2003, pg. 97 98). There is an ongoing debate about when peak oil will occur; some economists deem it to be decades away, while others believe it has come to pass all ready (Strahan, P. 2007, pg. 202). Coal and liquefied gas a feasible substitutions for oil, however they can only be used provisionally as they are both finite resources as well. This is not the solution for climate change, however it will aid in decelerating global warming for a period of time. Means of transportation would be cut down too much simpler methods, such as walking or riding a bicycle. (Sharpe, S. amp; Tranter, P. 2010 pg. 290). • 18. The Effect Of Heat Transmission On The Heat Introduction: Heat transmission is the process through which heat is transferred in swap of thermal energy that exists between the physical systems, depending on the pressure and temperature by dissipating heat. The essential modes of transferring the heat are convection, conduction or diffusion and radiation. Heat is transferred from region of high temperature to low temperature region. 1.0 Heat transfer The various modes of heat transfer are as follows: 1.1 Conduction: Conduction mode of heat transfer is the process in which transfer of energy is taken place between the objects that are having the physical existence. Moreover, this form of depression is often accompanied by fatigue, sleep issues, changes in eating habits, anxiety, guilt, irritability, concentration difficulties, bodily discomforts, and suicidal thoughts (Nevid, 2015, p. 505). Throughout history there have been dozens and dozens of systems of government created to achieve what some would call The Perfect Society . Because everyone has a different idea of this perfect society, nations have collapsed and there have been millions killed. Government is the most important entity in a citizen s life. Why? Because government controls people; every single aspect of their lives and all of their freedoms. The two most talked about and contrasted systems are Communism and Capitalism. They have been compared and contrasted on multiple fronts as to why they do or do not work, and which one is more effective. Capitalism and Communism are two forms of government that have very different and clashing views on the world, their main differences are about economic equality, the government s philosophy, and the government s role in its citizens lives. Karl Marx turned the world on its head when he published his world famous communist book, Communist Manifesto. Until the release of his book much of the world s governments were laid back, individuals owned private property, business, and the profits that came from them. Marx however was furious at the large gap between the rich and the poor, Thus, he created the theory of Communism. In his book he states the core beliefs of Communism; that there is an uneven distribution of wealth in the capitalist world, therefore if the government owned all privately owned assets of its citizens and re ... • 26. High Impulsivity And Novelty Seeking Drugs The article, High Impulsivity Predicts the Switch to Compulsive Cocaine Talking, sought to determine whether impulsivity and novelty seeking (which are behavioral markers of addictive drugs) place individuals in the vulnerability of compulsive seeking of the drug. The researchers used laboratory rats to test the vulnerability. Researchers found that high reactivity to novelty predicted the likelihood of rats seeking cocaine self administration. However, high impulsivity seemed to predict the development of addiction like behavior in the laboratory rats. The results obtained by researchers has changed the perspective from the impulsivity aspect of drug use towards the compulsivity factor during the initial stages of addiction development. Interestingly, the compulsive factor can be generated through neural physiology (i.e. neural mechanisms or diminished function of cortical function). In terms of lecture material, as discussed, drugs (such as stimulants) produce a hedonic state in individuals that leads them to greater drug use. The sensation of false euphoria can be what drives individuals who actively seek the drug. This can make drug users to impulsively seek drugs. As stated in the article, their evidence demonstrated that high levels of impulsivity can come before the onset of compulsive drug use. As discussed in lecture, although cocaine and caffeine are considered to be both stimulants, their effects are very different. There is a particular mechanism of biological ... Type There are two types of lightweight strollers, so your first consideration should be which one of these two will best fit your needs. The most common type of lightweight stroller is the umbrella stroller. This type of stroller is typically the one parents envision when they consider a second stroller that is compact enough to take on the go. This type of stroller is generally basic and does not include any extras that are common on full sized strollers. The other type of lightweight stroller is a bit bigger than an umbrella stroller but not as big as a standard stroller. This type of lightweight stroller generally is more comfortable and has a few conveniences such as under seat storage and larger sunshades. In segment B the shots continue to intensify the narrative especially seeing the helpless baby in the carriage on the cusp of descending down the steps, and then the solider slashing people with his saber, and the woman who was shot in the eye. A medieval classically trained humanist, Thomas More is also influenced by the late medieval social, political, and religious movements developing from the Plague and the Hundred Years War. In Utopia, More illustrates a humanist society by discussing agriculture in the economy, religion and happiness, and the structure of the government which was ultimately influenced by the late medieval ideals. Thomas More elaborates on economy in his book Utopia comparing it to the economy in Europe. The economy of Utopia is based on agriculture. Although agriculture is not a luxurious job, everyone has to do it because it is a shared experience. One will not complete this task for more than two years because everyone rotates in and out of the job. This is an example of humanism as the society recognizes that individuals need relief. Human beings are not to be exploited, it is a joint effort as seen through the idea of civic humanism; commoners are social utilities. In comparison to Utopia, the land in England was owned by the lords. The farmers worked for the lords who eventually profited from the land. Although there was previously a nutritional requirement for food in school, as Marion Nestle, a Professor of Nutrition at New York University, points out in her very influential article of the time, this requirement [did] not apply to foods sold outside of school cafeterias in snack bars, school stores, or vending machines (Nestle 308). By the late 1990s these companies were already well established in high school vending machines, but the competitive market required quite a bit more action (Nestle 310). In fact the companies began to, as Nestle claims, view school children as an attractive marketing opportunity, and use every possible means to promote their products to this young, ...
