The Renaissance Was a Revolutionary Period
In history, revolution is the reason for constant shift in society. Many eras have come and gone and
only some have left a significant impact on the world. In order for an era to be revolutionary, it has to
leave a long lasting influence through social, economic and political means. Historians debate whether
the Renaissance was considered a revolutionary period of history or not, however the Renaissance
means rebirth and laid the foundation of the current era, the Modern Times. The Renaissance is a
revolutionary period of history due to the far reaching changes in art, politics, science and technology,
as well as religion. During this period, art became more realistic, politics became based on merit,
science and technology reached its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another technique that was developed was perspective. Perspective was formed with the creation of
the vanishing point to make paintings more realistic. Masaccio was one of the great painters of his
time because of his skill of recreating lifelike figures and movement, along with portraying a sense of
three dimensionality. One of Masaccio s greatest paintings is the Holy Trinity which was painted in
1427. This painting has a great use of perspective and chiaroscuro to show realism. Chiaroscuro was
another technique that was formed to show light and dark intensities to give the impression of depth
and texture as well as a source of light. With the use of different shades of colour, sfumato was a new
technique that emerged during this time that produces soft, imperceptible transitions between colours
and tones to show blending and oneness. These techniques established a basis of modern art. These
techniques are still used till this day and have shaped the way art is currently produced.
Along with the different kinds of techniques of art, a shift in artistic themes occurred due to a change
in the artist s perception of life and their values. The Renaissance is an era that was home to some of
the most influential artists of all time Michelangelo Buonarotti, Raffaello Sanzio, and Leonardo di
Vinci were few of the many. One main characteristic

Module 1 Case Assignment Essay
A nuclear war has been declared and the civil defense committee has been appointed by the president
to make decisions on fall out shelter occupancy. Based on computer calculations the shelter can
guarantee survival of only six people. The committee must decide which six are to be included from a
list of twelve to go on and rebuild a new society. The twelve individuals they have to choose from are
the following: A 36 year old female physician, known to be a racist; Army drill instructor; African
American militant, biological researcher; Biochemist; Olympic athlete, all sports; movie star; third
year medical student, homosexual; 16 year old pregnant female; 30 year old Catholic priest; 38 year

Fix It. Although he served time in prison the fact that he can fix things makes him a good choice.
There will be plenty of houses, cars and other things needing to be fixed. Had the criminal charges
been for murder or something of that nature, he would not have been a good choice, because one
might question his trustworthiness. These four were easy because one needs: a leader to keep things
organized, someone to provide spiritual and emotional support, and someone to put things back
together again.
For the last two slots in the shelter they had a hard time deciding. Some wanted to pick the 16 year old
pregnant girl because she would be able to help repopulate the world. Plus, it s just hard to think about
killing someone carrying a child. They had stated, though that they would use logic and, other than
bringing a child into the world she no other attributes. A movie star and an athlete are nice for
entertainment purposes, but are they necessary for rebuilding a new society. Not really. The committee
decided to give the last two slots to third year medical student and African American militant
biological researcher. The medical student can provide medical care to those that get sick or hurt. The
biological researcher can provide insight into the effects the nukes had on the environment. When
building a new society there is going to be bumps along the way. The medical student and biological
researcher can provide treatment for injuries and sickness. They can

Descartes Myth-Gilbert Ryle
Gilbert Ryle’s The Concept of Mind
Gilbert Ryle (1900 76) was a philosopher who taught at Oxford and who made important
contributions to the philosophy of mind and to ordinary language philosophy. His most important
writings included Philosophical Arguments (1945), The Concept of Mind (1949), Dilemmas (1954),
Plato s Progress (1966), and On Thinking (1979).
The Concept of Mind (1949) is a critique of the notion that the mind is distinct from the body, and it is
a rejection of the theory that mental states are separable from physical states. According to Ryle, the
classical theory of mind, as represented by Cartesian rationalism, asserts that there is a basic
distinction between mind and matter. However, the classical theory makes a ... Show more content on

Thus, the mind consists of various abilities or dispositions that explain such behaviors as learning,
remembering, knowing, feeling, or willing. However, personal abilities or dispositions are not the
same as mental processes or events. To refer to abilities or dispositions as if they are mental
occurrences is to make a basic kind of category mistake.
The nature of a person’s motives may be defined by the actions and reactions of that person in
various circumstances or situations. The nature of a person s motives in a particular situation may not
necessarily be determined by any hidden mental processes or intellectual acts within that person.
Motives may be revealed or explained by a person’s behavior in a situation.
Ryle criticizes the theory that the mind is a place where mental images are apprehended, perceived, or
remembered. Sensations, thoughts, and feelings do not belong to a mental world distinct from the
physical world. Knowledge, memory, imagination, and other abilities or dispositions do not reside
within the mind as if the mind were a space in which these dispositions could be situated or located.
Furthermore, dispositions are not the same as behavioral actions; actions may, however, be explained
by dispositions.
Dispositions are neither visible nor hidden, because they are not in the same logical category as
behavioral actions. Dispositions are not mental processes or intellectual

Comparison Of Bauhaus And Minimalism
Throughout history, artists had many different motivations for creating what they did. Some created
pieces with religious significance, while others used art as an emotional outlet. The twentieth century
carried in a period of artists with new ideas and intentions. Two twentieth century movements,
Bauhaus and Minimalism, were not created to be symbolic or emotionally stirring as much of the art
of the past had been. Instead, they were movements focused on functionality and simplicity. They
disregarded the complex, realistic styles that had been popular throughout history and exchanged it
with minimalistic styles. These movements ushered in a style that would heavily impact artists even
today. Minimalism was followed very closely by Op Art and Conceptual art, both of which
disregarded previous beliefs about what art was and its purpose. Op Art showcased illusions created
with skillful tricks of line and shape. Conceptual art focused on idea, giving the concept more power
than the actual execution. Despite their obvious visual differences, these four movements had quite a
few similarities, including their disregard for the methods and mindset of classical art as well as their
extreme simplicities. All of these movements have heavily influenced today s modern art and built
upon one another over time. The Bauhaus was originally a school founded by Walter Gropius, a
German architect who focused on simplicity. The school was located in Germany and taught on a very
specific style

My Life I Have Gone From Extreme Fandom
Throughout the course of my life, I have gone from extreme fandom to none at all. I guess one can say
it had to do with the stages of life that I went through. At times, I sought to admire individuals as a
sense of community. Particularly, during my childhood, I spent much of my time admiring celebrities.
From musicians to actors, I adored them. In fact, my pastel pink walls in my bedroom were hardly
ever seen because they were covered with posters upon posters from my favorite pre teen magazine.
That was one of my all time favorite past times; asking my mom for Bop magazine that all the posters
and quizzes an eleven year old girl could ask for. I want the goal of this fandom autobiography to take
my readers through my life journey and how I have become a die hard fan girl at times, to one that
could care less. As a kid, around five or six years old, started my progression into fandom. I spent
hours not only watching Disney movies in my living room, but aspiring to be a part of them. Often
times I would grab my mother s tape recorder, and record myself for long periods of time acting as if I
was in the movies that I loved so much. One of my favorite movies at the time, The Little Mermaid,
naturally called for me to pretend and sing as if I were the little mermaid herself. I realized, even at
that young age, that I was never going to be a mermaid, but at least I could try. There was something
about being on television or in popular novels that made everyone in them that

Ap Euro Case Study
Euro
1. What is the euro?
The euro is the currency that is used by these European Union countries: Belgium, Greece, Cyprus,
Spain, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Malta, Austria, Luxembourg, Finland, Portugal, the Netherlands,
Slovenia, and France.
2. What does the symbol mean?
The symbol means the same as the $ dollar for Canadian currency. The deeper meaning for the euro
symbol is that it means stability (the two parallel lines across the symbol) and Europe (the symbol
represents an E in Greek).
3. When did the euro replace the old currencies in the member countries?
The euro completely replaced the old currencies in the member countries in January 1, 2002 but was
introduced in January 1, 1999.
4. Would it not have been better for European Union ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because these stable currency countries have been given an artificially weak currency meaning
that their exports are more competitive globally. As well, it has widened these countries market since
most of their exports go to the countries who also use the euro, not the entire European Union s free
trade places as the euro makes transactions more efficient (it eliminates the foreign exchange risk).
5. What economic advantages do participating member states enjoy over non participating members?
The economic advantages that participating member states enjoy over non participating members are
low inflation (due to its stability), more price transparency (consumers can compare prices more
easily), less currency exchange costs, a more powerful global voice, protection from external
economic shocks (ex. an unexpected rise in oil prices), easier travelling within the European Union,
and more international trade (the low currency value increases the competitiveness of these countries
exports and this currency has a higher total stability).

How is it possible for people to be able to hit the lotto for millions and yet there is people starving in
their homes ? How can there be so much misery in midst of such abundance ? Inequality is the source
of enormous frustration among groups who no longer believe that they can achieve a reasonable
facsmile of consumption as those of the upper classes. The social problems that result from such
feelings represent some of the most fundamental contradictions that persist under advanced capitalism.
That is why it should be of no surprise, then, that understanding the principle cause of these issues is

Peet says Mechanization raises the surplus exploitable by the owners of the means of production by
increasing the productivity of labor, and thus increases the capital available for reinvestment in more
machinery, facilities, and raw materials (566). This means that as economic development takes place,
the relative demand for labor falls because mechanization provides and faster and more efficient
means of production. Production costs become more and more the costs of depreciating machinery
and less and less the costs of hiring labor as machines are increasingly used to increase capital. As
mechanization proceeds, unemployment increases and a labor reserve army is created. Under
capitalism, economic development does not proceed smoothly. There are sudden bursts of expansion
and even old declining industries bloom during economic booms. Peet says In such a situation the
economy needs a quick transfusion of labor; a labor reserve is necessary, to be pulled into the labor
force when needed, and discharged just as rapidly when demand slackens or mechanization proceeds
(567). In other words, the labor reserve prevents surplus value from being diverted from capital
accumulation to labor; thus, serving its role under capitalism. The Marxist argument, therefore, is that
inequality is not a temporary aberation nor poverty a surprising paradox in advanced capitalist
societies: instead inequality and poverty are vital to the normal operation of

The Reinforcement of Racial Hierarchies in Morrison s The...
Race and racial hierarchies are reinforced through the proliferation of a predominant, societal, white
aesthetic and through the perceptions associated with physical characteristics. In The Bluest Eye, Toni
Morrison first illustrates the reinforcement of racial hierarchies through the proliferation of a
predominant, societal white aesthetic by recounting passages from the Dick and Jane books, a
standardization of family life. Next, The Black Arts Movement by Larry Neal demonstrates the
reinforcement of racial hierarchies through the proliferation of a white aesthetic by discussing how
Black culture, including Black art, is in danger if the white aesthetic is accepted by Black artists.

These books, with their simplistic two and three word sentences, were widely used to teach all
children how to read and suggested that the lifestyle of Dick and Jane was typical and standard. But,
the Dick and Jane lifestyle was certainly not the typical lifestyle for Claudia, Pecola or either of their
families. So, that lifestyle was presumed to be the typical white lifestyle. Furthermore, the lifestyle of
Dick and Jane was obviously viewed as superior to a sad, broken, difficult family life, similar to what
Claudia and Pecola were accustomed, so white lifestyles in general were viewed as superior.
Consequently, exposure to this white aesthetic, especially at an early age, would create, proliferate and
reinforce a racial hierarchy.
In The Black Arts Movement, Larry Neal also discusses how a racial hierarchy is reinforced through
the proliferation of a predominant, societal, white aesthetic. Neal says that, there are in fact and in
spirit two Americas one black, one white. (Neal 2039). Further, Neal discusses the danger of not
counteracting the white way of thinking, trumpeting the need for a Black aesthetic. The motive behind
the Black aesthetic is the destruction of the white thing, the destruction of white ideas, and white ways
of looking at the world. (Neal 2040). Neal s adamancy concerning the need for a Black aesthetic
confirms his belief in the existence and power of a predominant, societal, white

Popularised Explanation Of Memory
Memory is a complicated topic to describe, as its role, theory and application differs from person to
person. A popularised explanation of memory involves a tiered or levelled approach, ranging from a
holistic to a reductionist description (Bilkey, 2016). The Social and cultural level of memory refers to
information stored in museums, libraries and oral history. Individual memory is another level of
description, and is specific to the person; what they did that day, or ate for example. At the reductionist
spectrum of memory is the biological level, describing the fundamental process in the body that lead
to memory formation, such as synaptic modulation and information encoding in DNA (Bilkey, 2016).
Whichever level is adopted, three processes

In Praise Of Folly, Martin Luther, The Ninety-Five Theses
The sections of history mentioned within this essay discuss very important events of religious history.
Within each section a person or group of people are rebelling against the religious norm of their time.
Erasmus, In Praise of Folly, Martin Luther, The Ninety five Theses, The Twelve Articles of the
Peasants of Swabia, and The English Act of Supremacy, 1534 are all writings that exemplify this
aspect. Within the time of the northern European Renaissance Erasmus of Rotterdam is considered the
greatest scholar and humanist of its time. Erasmus strongly believed that the church was abusing its

The sixth article asks for gracious consideration to see if their plentiful duties could be managed to be

peasant will get paid for their services, but will help the noble at proper and necessary times. The
eighth article asks for the lords to have persons to look into a way they can fix rent in accordance with
justice for the peasants. In the ninth article the peasants ask to cease of the constant new laws and
want to be judged on the old laws. The tenth article asks for the meadows and fields that are owned by
individuals be arranged so that the community can use them. The Eleventh article the peasants demand
that they will no longer endure orphans and widows to be robbed of God s will. The twelfth article is
their conclusion and it basically says that if any of the article are prove not to be of God s will or
unjust they will adjust them to do so. Martin Luther disapprovingly responds to the peasant articles.
He believed that they committed threefold horrible sins against God. The first being that the peasants
have sworn to be obedient to their rulers and because they have deliberately not obeyed their rulers
they will be sentence by God. The second sin that Luther believes the peasants committed was
violently robbing the monasteries and castles that they do not

Theseus And The Labyrinth In Greek Theatre
The myth of Theseus and the Labyrinth can be transformed into an Athenian tragedy because there is
not an abundance of characters, there is a unity of action, and a unity of time. To adapt this myth of
Theseus into an Athenian tragedy, a few changes would have to be made. One drastic change that I
would implement is something completely new to the Athenian theatre; I would use the audience as
part of the play. Constructing and displaying a labyrinth on the stage would be incredibly difficult to
pull off therefore I would have the audience seated in a labyrinth type structure in addition to having a
small section that leads to the back of the stage as this is where the minotaur would be. In addition to
using the audience as a labyrinth, the composition of the chorus would contribute to the importance of
Theseus task of killing the minotaur. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The chorus would be composed of the seven men and women sent into the labyrinth every year to feed
the minotaur. Choosing the sacrificed people to serve as the chorus further intensifies the importance
for Theseus to kill the minotaur because if he fails, the cycle will continue and countless people will
have to be sacrificed to feed the beast. In Agamemnon by Aeschylus, the chorus consists of old men
whom are citizens of Argos (Aeschylus Agamemnon 1. 40 43). The chorus in Agamemnon serves as a
wise voice to the audience whereas the chorus of this play would be slightly sinister and foreboding,
however, it would still serve the purpose of explaining to the audience the importance of the task at

Analysis Of Merchant Of Venice And Frankenstein
Preconceptions
In both Merchant of Venice, by Shakespeare, and Frankenstein, by Mary Shelly, identities, prejudices,
and judgements are constantly put to the test. Shylock and Portia, who originally identify strongly
with their Jewish ancestry are subject to prejudice and judgement, ultimately causing them to change
their concepts of identity to conform to society. Similarly, the Creature is judged for his physical
appearance, causing him to grow angry when he is exiled by society. Both novels seem to suggest that
bias plays a role in determining the relationship between people, even when they have never met
before. These characters are judged, eventually shaping the way they will identify by the end of the
novel, and largely forcing them to change the very way they act and appear. For this reason, in both
Merchant of Venice and Frankenstein, prejudice is used as a tool to stereotype and label people,
eventually causing them to conform and mold themselves to the norms set out for them by society.
Many people are often judged because they are different from the norms society has set for them,
causing them to often be stereotyped into categories. This is especially true in the context of both
novels. Shylock experiences prejudice because he identifies as Jewish, and is often discriminated
against, explaining how someone spat on him, saying, You call me misbeliever, cutthroat dog, And
spat upon my Jewish gabardine, And all for use of that which is mine own (1.3). He

Save Ended Up After Your Life
Have you ever had something happen in your life where you saw signs of it coming, but did anything
you could to help fix things? Then in the end it ended up what you were trying to fix was not
something that could be done on your behalf? No matter how hard you tried, you could not seem to
hold that which you were working so hard to hold on to, what you were trying to save ended up
dissolving quickly right before your eyes. After what you had fought for with every ounce of strength
you had, every hope you had, and every fiber of your being desiring to not give up seems to have just
shattered right before your eyes, it is near impossible to bounce back quickly from that. For me, I have
recently found just how accurate the following saying is.... You never know what you have until you
do not have it anymore. When you lose something or someone you have tried to fight for through
thick or thin, it is almost as though you want to give up completely and not have hope things may end
up being rebuilt down the road. At least for me, I worked so hard and gave my all in order to help save
something very dear to me and in the end it felt as though it were not worth it. What I realized though
is that what I had fought for so long ended up being something I could not keep. As much as it hurts
and pains me to not have what I fought for, so much so that I want to curl up in a ball and hide from
the world at times, I also know that the hurt is in a great deal related to the fact that who I

The Genealogy Of Jesus
The genealogy of Jesus Christ reveals that he belongs to the House of David, which fulfills God s
promise that the Messiah would come from David s line; this shows readers that Jesus accomplishes
God s covenants and the hopes of the Israelites. The genealogy also links him to Abraham, the original
patriarch and father of the Jews. However, Jesus genealogy also includes sinners, cheaters, liars, and
other people with questionable backgrounds, reminding readers how Jesus spent time with similar
people in his adulthood. Moreover, these connections convey that Jesus takes the role of the Suffering
Servant, who bears the sins of multitudes, from the very beginning of his life and origins.
The Incarnation is the dogma that God became mortal as Jesus Christ to save the world from its sins; it
illustrates the both fully human and fully divine nature of Jesus Christ. Jesus came as Savior who
would take away the sins of the world. He also came as a symbol of God s love: God sent his only Son
to save humans, conveying how he exists as a loving God. Additionally, Jesus models loving and holy
behavior so that Christians can imitate and therefore become more like him. Finally, the Incarnation
also adopts mortal humans into the divine family through the Holy Spirit. ... Show more content on

Charlemagne and the Carolingian Renaissance
The Carolingian Empire was not at full fruition when Charlemagne rose to power, it was quite the
contrary. In the eighth century, the lands covered by what is now known as France and Belgium, as
well as part of Germany made up the Frankish state ruled by the kings of the Merovingian line. The
Merovingian empire was weak and in a steady decline; the majority of people in Western Europe were
illiterate, the economy was facing quite the major decline and the Merovingian kings became Do
Nothing Kings (Rois fainéants) after the death of Dagobert 639 AD. This is when the Carolingians

Peter the Apostle of Rome. He also created a dialog with the academic world, making his court a
learning hub which could not have been done without the revival of Latin by the educated elite in such
an orally cultured empire. This language renewal luckily occurred because of mistakes made by the
monks of Fulda, so he forced reform by making the writings of church fathers mandatory readings, as
well as the study of grammar to increase literacy among scribes, and even commoners. Charlemagne s
thirst for knowledge pushed educational boundaries. This is seen in the learning of language and
rhetoric via knowledge before action that was taught with the help of the Liberal Arts. He organized
and centralized cultural activities and a specific curriculum to be taught at the local schools, with
many provided resources to do so. He firmly believed that the teaching of Liberal Arts to the children
(and even adults) was the duty of a ruler in order to create an educated empire able to flourish and
truly understand the world with spiritual enlightenment. In addition to these educational reforms,
Charlemagne introduced political ones. It is important to note that Charlemagne ruled a monarchical
empire with the help of the aristocracy (which included relatives and friends) in order to contain
power. Therefore, the Frankish Empire depended on him because he was the Minister Dei (a servant of
god) for institutions, such as

Comparing Oedipus Rex, Hamlet And Long Day s Journey Into...
Throughout the few most recent months we spent some time reading different plays. After reading

Although each play has a different title, theses plays have much in common with each other. Oedipus
Rex, by Sophocles, Hamlet by William Shakespeare, and Long Day s Journey Into Night were three of
the plays we read in class. Although it was apparent that these plays were different, but however,
reflecting back to these plays it makes sense why we read them together. Oedipus Rex, Hamlet, and

While reading Oedipus Rex my first initial reaction was wow this play is strange, but however, when I
started reading the other plays like Hamlet and Long Day s Journey into Night it started becoming
more normal that most of the plot seemed to be twisted. In Oedipus Rex it was unusual that someone
would get put up for adoption then eventually kill their real dad, and then get married to their real
mom and have kids with them. This twisted plot made readers more interested in what was going to
happen next. Moreover, in Hamlet during the plot was becoming twisted when Hamlet started seeing
his father as a ghost, and when his mother marries Claudius so quickly, then when Hamlet made out

Factors Affecting The Intake Of Fruits From Trees Essay
Check referencing and put scientific names of table in annex 1 into italics Chapter 5
The availability, accessibility, utilization and stability factors affecting the intake of fruits from trees in
forest areas in Cameroon
Introduction and problem
In sub Saharan Africa, just under one in every four people, or 23.2 percent of the population, is
estimated to be undernourished in 2014 16 (FAO et al., 2015). This is the highest prevalence of
undernourishment for any region in the World and, with about 220 million hungry people in 2014 16,
the second highest burden in absolute terms. The number of undernourished people increased by 44
million between 1990 to 92 and 2014 to16. In the Central African sub region, the number of
undernourished people more than doubled between 1990 92 and 2014 16 (FAO et al., 2015). The lack
of progress in the rate of undernourishment in absolute terms reflects prevailing problems in the sub
region, notably poor food consumption patterns caused amongst others by limited understanding on
the dimensions of food security, political instability and forest degradation. It is therefore absolute to
carry out investigations to properly understand the dimensions of food security especially with
changing environmental conditions. Promoting the consumption of fruits in poor communities and
amongst vulnerable groups could help in addressing problems of nutrient deficiency and malnutrition
(Kehlenbeck et al., 2013; Place et al., 2013; Tchoundjeu et al., 2012).

Filipino And Colonial Mentality
US also selected promising Filipino leaders and sent them to prestigious American universities where
they learned American forms of ov government and culture, They would return to the philippines
securing positions within government and governed based off American model. It was as it seems,
what the Americans had intended to do. Knowingly or not, these Filipinos who were educated through
the American system may have supplemented the teachings of the Americans through the way they led
and communicated with the Filipinos back home, contributing to the notion that anything that was
western, or American, is far better than anything filipino, which in turn may have affected their
devaluing in the filipino culture. Colonial mentality can be described as an attitude that colonized
people feel themselves to be inferior to their colonizers based on the fact of colonization. There are
numerous other examples where Filipino/Filipino Americans can experience colonial mentality. We
can see this stemming from results of generational family socialization and the continued
americanization that continues to exist, further endorsing notion of american superiority over filipino
ethnicity and culture. An example of the generational family socialization can be seen throughout the
novel of American Son. Ika s two sons, Gabriel and Tomas are half filipino and half white as a result
of their father who served in the military and is no longer part of their life. Neither of these children

The Street Empire
The United States has had its share of economic prosperity, but none as thriving as the 1920s era,
labeled the Roaring Twenties . The 1920s era saw great political and social change to the United States
society. The US economy blossomed, and the nation s total wealth more than doubled in the 1920s era.
As a result of this social and political change as well as the success of the economy, transformed many
Americans into a consumer society . The great economic success during the time period also created
an excess of money to spend, which was used and spent aimlessly on unnecessary luxuries due to the
fact that it was affordable and accessible. During this time period, some freedoms were expanded
while others were restricted. Evidence of this is the ratification of the 18th amendment, banning the
production and sale of alcohol. Although the purpose of the law was to prevent alcohol related crimes,
the 18th amendment created a greater demand for alcohol. Renegades became common, and many
people would purchase bootlegged alcohol through illegal manners. Criminals and gangsters viewed
the prohibition as a method of making money fast, and created an organized system concentrated on
manufacturing and distributing of alcoholic beverages. Organized crime has always been notoriously
feared; however, they became successful during the Prohibition era in the 1920s. They established an
organized system and evolved into a successful, established, and dangerous organization that

The Primary Roles Of Adolf Hitler s Mein Kampf
The primary functions of propaganda, according to Adolf Hitler s Mein Kampf, is to gain the attention
of the masses by proposing certain facts, processes, and necessities. In Hitler s Mein Kampf, he states
that propaganda must be popular and its intellectual level must be adjusted to the masses that it intends
to reach (Hitler, Mein Kampf). While advertising for the message to be successful, the message must
achieve through adaptable, consistent messages. Entertainment, broadcast, and the Bible are examples
of propaganda which utilizes techniques for a purpose to affect people s opinions.
The Bible s Serpent, Ellen DeGeneres, and Oprah Winfrey have shown the proper way to use
propaganda. Defining good or evil, many successful individuals have used propaganda effectively
communicating with their audiences. For example, the Serpent persuaded Eve and Eve offered to the
fruit to Adam to take the fruit because of ignorance, Ellen used humor for psychological gain, and
Oprah gathering the attention of a mass audience through different media outlets. All three different
experiences show the effects of using their surroundings and knowing the mass movements; they
require a certain amount of time before they even notice something, and the simplest ideas are
repeated thousands of times before the masses finally remember (Hitler, Mein Kampf).
The first example of propaganda is the Serpent from the Bible, whose story demonstrates the
monopoly of the communication source. One side of

The historical accuracy of the Bible: The Bible is the most accurate of ancient writings. There are

Essay about Samuel Coleridge s Kubla Khan and the...
Samuel Coleridge s Kubla Khan and the Unconscious
Samuel Coleridge s poem Kubla Khan is a metaphorical journey through a complex labyrinth of
symbols and images that represent the unconscious and seemingly troubled mind. It is a voyage that
continually spirals downward toward uncharted depths, while illustrating the unpredictable battle
between the conscious and the unconscious that exists inside every individual. Moreover, the poem
appears to follow a dreamlike sequence past numerous, vivid images that are mainly artificial
recreations of the narrator s (most likely Coleridge s) previous thoughts and experiences.
Kubla Khan, however, is predominantly a mosaic of fragments of thoughts and incomplete themes.
Most likely, the reader ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although there is no consistent syntax, rhyme, or meter in Kubla Khan, the poem begins its journey
through the mind in a conscious and calculating manner. The first four lines of the poem, in fact,
appear to almost directly derive from a passage of Purchas s Pilgrimage, as the narrative voice slowly
drifts into a dreamlike state. Coleridge s paraphrasing of a relatively accessible, published piece of
literature seems to provide the narrator with a solid foundation to build his seemingly inaccessible
poem upon.
The fifth line, however, is marked by an indentation. The words down to the sunless sea (5) appear to
initiate an abrupt drop into the unconscious and away from the character Kubla. There is an initial
sense of natural mysticism and Eastern tranquility among the gardens bright with sinuous rills (8) and
a vibrant, incense bearing tree (9) in this scene of fertile greenery. Interestingly, the color green,
uniquely, exists on a dual level, as it is able to convey the vitality of life and vegetation, while
simultaneously conveying an undertone of fear, jealousy, ill humor, and sickness that most likely
dominates Coleridge s own subconscious thoughts and soul green as emerald. This abundant greenery,
however, is soon met by a romantic chasm (12) that ironically, is described as savage and haunted.
After the narrator s initial description of the majestic setting of unconscious thought,

A competency describes anything that a business does well and differentiates them from competitors.
The authors from Essentials of Strategic Management say it best as they define a competency as the
cross functional integration and coordination of capabilities. They continue to clearly define that core
competencies are the collection of competencies that cross divisional boundaries, is widespread with
the corporation, and is something a corporation can do exceedingly well and that distinctive
competency are those skills that are superior to those of the competition. The competitive analyses

Analysis Of Mother To Son By Langston Hughes
Processing Fear F E A R has two meanings: Forget Everything And Run or Face Everything And Rise.
The choice is yours. Zig Ziglar. How do we as humans face the emotion we call fear? Do we let it s
terrifying surface consume us and hold us back from partaking in something we wish to do, or do we
let it fuel us, empower us, into doing something that we never thought we could? Do you hold
yourself back and hide from that fear and hope it goes away just like the monsters under your bed, or
do you take control, and fight? Maya Angelou talks about locking yourself up in a cage full of your
fears and doubts and trying to escape and become free of your struggles. In Langston Hughes poem,
Mother to Son, Hughes talks about how a son is struggling to go through life and he wants to give up
because of his fears and doubts, but his mother is trying to persuade him into sticking with it and
continue living life. Finally, Robert Frost discusses how your fears shouldn t hold you back from
continuing life and choosing a path to go on. Everyone has to face their fears at some point, it just
depends on the person if they choose to fight it or not. Whether you re grabbing the bull by the horns,
or you re closing the gate. You re looking your fear right in the face.
Imagine you re in the cage, suffocating in your own doubts. You want to break down those barriers,
but you can t. Seeing the free people makes you want to escape even more, but again, you can t. You

Background In 1866 Wilham Ebstein first described the cardiac defects associated with Ebsteins s
Anomaly. Ebstein was a doctor born in Prussia in 1836 who received his medical degree from Berlin
in 1859. A 19 year old patient who presented with shortness of breath and palpitations was not able to
withstand his insufficient tricuspid valve. Wilham s autopsy of the young man indicated an enlarged
and fenestrated anterior tricuspid leaflet; the posterior and septal leaflets were hypoplastic, thickened
and adherent to the right ventricle, an enlarged right atrium, and a patent foramen ovale (Swiss
Medical Weekly, 2005). Although Ebstein portrayed the first case it was not until 1927 that Alfred
Arnstein suggested the name Ebstein s Anomaly for these defects. Ten years later in 1937 Yates and
Sharpiro confirmed a case of Ebstein s Anomaly with radiographic and electrocardiographic data
(Riaz, 2013). In the past this anomaly was typically diagnosed during an autopsy, now
echocardiography is the standard for diagnosis. Once patients could be diagnosed with Ebstein s while
they were still alive, a group of symptoms was eventually composed.

School High School
The question that most students possess coming out of high schools usually refers to what s next or
what do I want to do with my life? I think that it is important that people have these questions at their
disposal because it forces students to not only evaluate their strengths but also discover what really
makes them happy. The reason for this correlates towards people striving to work in an area that
makes them happy but also provides them with the money they desired in order for life to be exciting.
Whether students consider going to a four year school straight out of high school or going into the
workforce, it should be a decision that fits both their lifestyle and future passion. High schools have
definite and solidified purposes when it comes to teaching students. One of the main ideas is that high
schools should prepare students for the creativity in the future wherever it may take them. A key
message that Ken Robinson stated during his TED TALK was that classes and tests are driven more
towards standards and less correlated with the creative aspect, which has been lost. This may be
extremely detrimental because creativity allows people to take different paths that best fit their
individual characteristics. It allows students to maximize their abilities on assignments and better
benefit them. The main reason that I think creativity has diminished within many classes may attribute
to the shift towards more of a neoliberal system.

The Role Of Joseph In The Middle Kingdom Of Egypt
Throughout History, historiographers and common people are always attempting to date ,the most
accurately, things and events back in the Ancient Era of history. Due to the fact that we do not have
much information about everything that happened back then; we need to make assumptions and date
things where they seem to be accordingly to other events that hint for approximate date of existence.
And this is the case with Joseph of the Bible. Nobody really knows his exact chronological placement
but we do have information about him and can place his in a close time to where he lived. In my
opinion I strongly believe the best chronological placement or Joseph is the late Middle Kingdom of
Egypt. To start off, I believe Joseph lived at the late Middle Kingdom because at this time Egypt and
its Pharaoh´s were strong just as, when Joseph was alive. Egypt was well structured whereas, in the
old kingdom Egypt Pharaohs were weak; therefore, we can eliminate this possibility to date Joseph in
the Old Kingdom. Moreover, we can know that when Joseph lived Pharaoh was powerful because in
the Bible in Genesis 47 it talks about the famine and how Joseph made all the people that came to

Introduction The Hospital is an advanced tertiary medical center located in Palm Beach County,
Florida. Recently, the Hospital has seen a growing trend towards higher utilization of the Emergency
Department by patients who routinely go the Emergency Department for their primary healthcare
needs. Patients are going to the Emergency Department for non emergent reasons because they have
not developed a relationship with a primary care doctor ( ED Navigators, 2014). There is major
concern that patients are not connecting with a primary care provider and they are not accessing the
appropriate level of care for their medical needs. The Hospital faces a negative financial impact and
decrease in the quality of patient care because patients continue to routinely use the Emergency
Department for their primary healthcare needs. This report recommends the hiring of a Patient
Navigator. The Patient Navigator will assist patients that use the Emergency Department for non
emergent reasons to connect with a primary care provider. This report includes the recommendation

Probation Is A Sentence That Is Given To Offenders Instead
Probation is a sentence that is given to offenders instead of jail. Probation comes in different forms
and many different conditions; therefore, if you were unable to meet those conditions you may be sent
to jail. Probation is mostly used for first time offenders, or for those charged with minor crimes. When
given probation you must meet with an assigned probation officer on a regular basis.

Supreme Court in 1841. Before parole and probation punishments were very harsh, and often lead to
death. Over time we have developed these two systems to punish individuals, but at the same time
help them learn how to live in the current society. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

system.
John Augustus was the father of probation. His idea was to change the behavior of offenders. He

would require help trough probation officers. Parole given to an individual when are eligible to parole.
This happens after the prisoner receives a minimum or maximum sentence; however, they become
eligible with the decision of the parole board. The board decides whether or not to put them on parole
after a consideration hearing. Just like probation, this is a program that focuses on the rehabilitation of
offenders. Parole was first introduced in the United States by Brockway Zebulon in 1876 as a way to
reduce overcrowding in jails. He also saw this as way to rehabilitate offenders. He believed this was
the best way to have offenders change their behavior for the better. This would give an opportunity for
offenders to get out of jail, and be rehabilitated. The parole board decides when the parole period will
happen. If the offender violates their parole they will be sent back in jail for the rest of their sentence.
The cost for probation is a lot larger than for parole. For probation the average year cost is about
$29,000 a year. That comes out to be roughly $79 a day. While, for

One of Masaccio s greatest paintings is the Holy Trinity which was painted in 1427. This painting has a great use of perspective and chiaroscuro to show realism. Chiaroscuro was another technique that was formed to show light and dark intensities to give the impression of depth and texture as well as a source of light. With the use of different shades of colour, sfumato was a new technique that emerged during this time that produces soft, imperceptible transitions between colours and tones to show blending and oneness. These techniques established a basis of modern art. These techniques are still used till this day and have shaped the way art is currently produced. Along with the different kinds of techniques of art, a shift in artistic themes occurred due to a change in the artist s perception of life and their values. The Renaissance is an era that was home to some of the most influential artists of all time Michelangelo Buonarotti, Raffaello Sanzio, and Leonardo di Vinci were few of the many. There will be plenty of houses, cars and other things needing to be fixed. Had the criminal charges been for murder or something of that nature, he would not have been a good choice, because one might question his trustworthiness. These four were easy because one needs: a leader to keep things organized, someone to provide spiritual and emotional support, and someone to put things back together again. For the last two slots in the shelter they had a hard time deciding. Some wanted to pick the 16 year old pregnant girl because she would be able to help repopulate the world. Plus, it s just hard to think about killing someone carrying a child. They had stated, though that they would use logic and, other than bringing a child into the world she no other attributes. A movie star and an athlete are nice for entertainment purposes, but are they necessary for rebuilding a new society. Not really. The committee decided to give the last two slots to third year medical student and African American militant biological researcher. Descartes Myth-Gilbert Ryle Gilbert Ryle’s The Concept of Mind Gilbert Ryle (1900 76) was a philosopher who taught at Oxford and who made important contributions to the philosophy of mind and to ordinary language philosophy. His most important writings included Philosophical Arguments (1945), The Concept of Mind (1949), Dilemmas (1954), Plato s Progress (1966), and On Thinking (1979). The Concept of Mind (1949) is a critique of the notion that the mind is distinct from the body, and it is a rejection of the theory that mental states are separable from physical states. However, personal abilities or dispositions are not the same as mental processes or events. To refer to abilities or dispositions as if they are mental occurrences is to make a basic kind of category mistake. The nature of a person’s motives may be defined by the actions and reactions of that person in various circumstances or situations. The nature of a person s motives in a particular situation may not necessarily be determined by any hidden mental processes or intellectual acts within that person. Motives may be revealed or explained by a person’s behavior in a situation. Ryle criticizes the theory that the mind is a place where mental images are apprehended, perceived, or remembered. • 5. Comparison Of Bauhaus And Minimalism Throughout history, artists had many different motivations for creating what they did. Some created pieces with religious significance, while others used art as an emotional outlet. The twentieth century carried in a period of artists with new ideas and intentions. Two twentieth century movements, Bauhaus and Minimalism, were not created to be symbolic or emotionally stirring as much of the art of the past had been. Instead, they were movements focused on functionality and simplicity. They disregarded the complex, realistic styles that had been popular throughout history and exchanged it with minimalistic styles. These movements ushered in a style that would heavily impact artists even today. Minimalism was followed very closely by Op Art and Conceptual art, both of which disregarded previous beliefs about what art was and its purpose. Op Art showcased illusions created with skillful tricks of line and shape. Conceptual art focused on idea, giving the concept more power than the actual execution. Despite their obvious visual differences, these four movements had quite a few similarities, including their disregard for the methods and mindset of classical art as well as their extreme simplicities. All of these movements have heavily influenced today s modern art and built upon one another over time. The Bauhaus was originally a school founded by Walter Gropius, a German architect who focused on simplicity. The school was located in Germany and taught on a very specific style ... I guess one can say it had to do with the stages of life that I went through. At times, I sought to admire individuals as a sense of community. Particularly, during my childhood, I spent much of my time admiring celebrities. From musicians to actors, I adored them. In fact, my pastel pink walls in my bedroom were hardly ever seen because they were covered with posters upon posters from my favorite pre teen magazine. That was one of my all time favorite past times; asking my mom for Bop magazine that all the posters and quizzes an eleven year old girl could ask for. I want the goal of this fandom autobiography to take my readers through my life journey and how I have become a die hard fan girl at times, to one that could care less. As a kid, around five or six years old, started my progression into fandom. I spent hours not only watching Disney movies in my living room, but aspiring to be a part of them. Often times I would grab my mother s tape recorder, and record myself for long periods of time acting as if I was in the movies that I loved so much. One of my favorite movies at the time, The Little Mermaid, naturally called for me to pretend and sing as if I were the little mermaid herself. Peet says Mechanization raises the surplus exploitable by the owners of the means of production by increasing the productivity of labor, and thus increases the capital available for reinvestment in more machinery, facilities, and raw materials (566). This means that as economic development takes place, the relative demand for labor falls because mechanization provides and faster and more efficient means of production. Production costs become more and more the costs of depreciating machinery and less and less the costs of hiring labor as machines are increasingly used to increase capital. As mechanization proceeds, unemployment increases and a labor reserve army is created. Under capitalism, economic development does not proceed smoothly. There are sudden bursts of expansion and even old declining industries bloom during economic booms. Peet says In such a situation the economy needs a quick transfusion of labor; a labor reserve is necessary, to be pulled into the labor force when needed, and discharged just as rapidly when demand slackens or mechanization proceeds (567). In other words, the labor reserve prevents surplus value from being diverted from capital accumulation to labor; thus, serving its role under capitalism. The Marxist argument, therefore, is that inequality is not a temporary aberation nor poverty a surprising paradox in advanced capitalist societies: instead inequality and poverty are vital to the normal operation of ... But, the Dick and Jane lifestyle was certainly not the typical lifestyle for Claudia, Pecola or either of their families. So, that lifestyle was presumed to be the typical white lifestyle. Furthermore, the lifestyle of Dick and Jane was obviously viewed as superior to a sad, broken, difficult family life, similar to what Claudia and Pecola were accustomed, so white lifestyles in general were viewed as superior. Consequently, exposure to this white aesthetic, especially at an early age, would create, proliferate and reinforce a racial hierarchy. In The Black Arts Movement, Larry Neal also discusses how a racial hierarchy is reinforced through the proliferation of a predominant, societal, white aesthetic. Neal says that, there are in fact and in spirit two Americas one black, one white. (Neal 2039). Further, Neal discusses the danger of not counteracting the white way of thinking, trumpeting the need for a Black aesthetic. The motive behind the Black aesthetic is the destruction of the white thing, the destruction of white ideas, and white ways of looking at the world. (Neal 2040). To adapt this myth of Theseus into an Athenian tragedy, a few changes would have to be made. One drastic change that I would implement is something completely new to the Athenian theatre; I would use the audience as part of the play. • 14. Analysis Of Merchant Of Venice And Frankenstein Preconceptions In both Merchant of Venice, by Shakespeare, and Frankenstein, by Mary Shelly, identities, prejudices, and judgements are constantly put to the test. Shylock and Portia, who originally identify strongly with their Jewish ancestry are subject to prejudice and judgement, ultimately causing them to change their concepts of identity to conform to society. Similarly, the Creature is judged for his physical appearance, causing him to grow angry when he is exiled by society. Both novels seem to suggest that bias plays a role in determining the relationship between people, even when they have never met before. These characters are judged, eventually shaping the way they will identify by the end of the novel, and largely forcing them to change the very way they act and appear. For this reason, in both Merchant of Venice and Frankenstein, prejudice is used as a tool to stereotype and label people, eventually causing them to conform and mold themselves to the norms set out for them by society. Many people are often judged because they are different from the norms society has set for them, causing them to often be stereotyped into categories. This is especially true in the context of both novels. Shylock experiences prejudice because he identifies as Jewish, and is often discriminated against, explaining how someone spat on him, saying, You call me misbeliever, cutthroat dog, And spat upon my Jewish gabardine, And all for use of that which is mine own (1.3). No matter how hard you tried, you could not seem to hold that which you were working so hard to hold on to, what you were trying to save ended up dissolving quickly right before your eyes. After what you had fought for with every ounce of strength you had, every hope you had, and every fiber of your being desiring to not give up seems to have just shattered right before your eyes, it is near impossible to bounce back quickly from that. For me, I have recently found just how accurate the following saying is.... You never know what you have until you do not have it anymore. When you lose something or someone you have tried to fight for through thick or thin, it is almost as though you want to give up completely and not have hope things may end up being rebuilt down the road. At least for me, I worked so hard and gave my all in order to help save something very dear to me and in the end it felt as though it were not worth it. What I realized though is that what I had fought for so long ended up being something I could not keep. The Incarnation is the dogma that God became mortal as Jesus Christ to save the world from its sins; it illustrates the both fully human and fully divine nature of Jesus Christ. Factors Affecting The Intake Of Fruits From Trees Essay Check referencing and put scientific names of table in annex 1 into italics Chapter 5 The availability, accessibility, utilization and stability factors affecting the intake of fruits from trees in forest areas in Cameroon Introduction and problem In sub Saharan Africa, just under one in every four people, or 23.2 percent of the population, is estimated to be undernourished in 2014 16 (FAO et al., 2015). This is the highest prevalence of undernourishment for any region in the World and, with about 220 million hungry people in 2014 16, the second highest burden in absolute terms. The number of undernourished people increased by 44 million between 1990 to 92 and 2014 to16. In the Central African sub region, the number of undernourished people more than doubled between 1990 92 and 2014 16 (FAO et al., 2015). It was as it seems, what the Americans had intended to do. Knowingly or not, these Filipinos who were educated through the American system may have supplemented the teachings of the Americans through the way they led and communicated with the Filipinos back home, contributing to the notion that anything that was western, or American, is far better than anything filipino, which in turn may have affected their devaluing in the filipino culture. Colonial mentality can be described as an attitude that colonized people feel themselves to be inferior to their colonizers based on the fact of colonization. There are numerous other examples where Filipino/Filipino Americans can experience colonial mentality. We can see this stemming from results of generational family socialization and the continued americanization that continues to exist, further endorsing notion of american superiority over filipino ethnicity and culture. The 1920s era saw great political and social change to the United States society. The US economy blossomed, and the nation s total wealth more than doubled in the 1920s era. The great economic success during the time period also created an excess of money to spend, which was used and spent aimlessly on unnecessary luxuries due to the fact that it was affordable and accessible. During this time period, some freedoms were expanded while others were restricted. Evidence of this is the ratification of the 18th amendment, banning the production and sale of alcohol. Although the purpose of the law was to prevent alcohol related crimes, the 18th amendment created a greater demand for alcohol. Renegades became common, and many people would purchase bootlegged alcohol through illegal manners. Samuel Coleridge s Kubla Khan and the Unconscious Samuel Coleridge s poem Kubla Khan is a metaphorical journey through a complex labyrinth of symbols and images that represent the unconscious and seemingly troubled mind. It is a voyage that continually spirals downward toward uncharted depths, while illustrating the unpredictable battle between the conscious and the unconscious that exists inside every individual. Moreover, the poem appears to follow a dreamlike sequence past numerous, vivid images that are mainly artificial recreations of the narrator s (most likely Coleridge s) previous thoughts and experiences. Although there is no consistent syntax, rhyme, or meter in Kubla Khan, the poem begins its journey through the mind in a conscious and calculating manner. The first four lines of the poem, in fact, appear to almost directly derive from a passage of Purchas s Pilgrimage, as the narrative voice slowly drifts into a dreamlike state. Coleridge s paraphrasing of a relatively accessible, published piece of literature seems to provide the narrator with a solid foundation to build his seemingly inaccessible poem upon. The fifth line, however, is marked by an indentation. The words down to the sunless sea (5) appear to initiate an abrupt drop into the unconscious and away from the character Kubla. There is an initial sense of natural mysticism and Eastern tranquility among the gardens bright with sinuous rills (8) and a vibrant, incense bearing tree (9) in this scene of fertile greenery. Interestingly, the color green, uniquely, exists on a dual level, as it is able to convey the vitality of life and vegetation, while simultaneously conveying an undertone of fear, jealousy, ill humor, and sickness that most likely dominates Coleridge s own subconscious thoughts and soul green as emerald. This abundant greenery, however, is soon met by a romantic chasm (12) that ironically, is described as savage and haunted. The reason for this correlates towards people striving to work in an area that makes them happy but also provides them with the money they desired in order for life to be exciting. Whether students consider going to a four year school straight out of high school or going into the workforce, it should be a decision that fits both their lifestyle and future passion. High schools have definite and solidified purposes when it comes to teaching students. One of the main ideas is that high schools should prepare students for the creativity in the future wherever it may take them. A key message that Ken Robinson stated during his TED TALK was that classes and tests are driven more towards standards and less correlated with the creative aspect, which has been lost. This may be extremely detrimental because creativity allows people to take different paths that best fit their individual characteristics. It allows students to maximize their abilities on assignments and better benefit them. The main reason that I think creativity has diminished within many classes may attribute to the shift towards more of a neoliberal system. Instability within the education ... The Role Of Joseph In The Middle Kingdom Of Egypt Throughout History, historiographers and common people are always attempting to date ,the most accurately, things and events back in the Ancient Era of history. Due to the fact that we do not have much information about everything that happened back then; we need to make assumptions and date things where they seem to be accordingly to other events that hint for approximate date of existence. And this is the case with Joseph of the Bible. Nobody really knows his exact chronological placement but we do have information about him and can place his in a close time to where he lived. In my opinion I strongly believe the best chronological placement or Joseph is the late Middle Kingdom of Egypt. To start off, I believe Joseph lived at the late Middle Kingdom because at this time Egypt and its Pharaoh´s were strong just as, when Joseph was alive. Egypt was well structured whereas, in the old kingdom Egypt Pharaohs were weak; therefore, we can eliminate this possibility to date Joseph in the Old Kingdom.
