How Does Realism And Idealism Affect Our International...
Amidst Political Idealism, Realism
The theories of realism and idealism are as old as politics, itself. There has always been one group
looking as things as they are, asking finite questions like how much will it cost, examining actions
over intentions and another group aiming for how things should be while asking is this morally
right, just or conscionable?. How does realism and idealism affect our international political
landscape? Although theory suggests that politicians operate from one camp or another, is it
impossible to navigate life supporting every initiative of one camp or another? One may in fact
possess an idealistic viewpoint or attitude overall but, cast a vote for a more realistic solution of a
particular situation.
Evidence suggests that descriptors of realism and idealism are blurred lines, although it is in direct
conflict with the teachings of political science, which have not changed much since inception.
...one cannot understand Hitler s Germany and Stalin s Soviet Union, the two most destructive
states of the twentieth century... Both regimes were driven by the desire to remake first their
societies and then the world. Neither took the state as the unit whose interests were to be served;
no narrow self interest or considerations of national security or even national gain could have led
to such domestic slaughter and dangerous expansions. Jervis, R. (1998). There are many examples
of overlapping realism and idealism. A group of realists and

Yoga Best Fit? In hinduism there is four types of yoga; karma, bhakti, Raja, and Jnana. the yogas
are four types of knowledge to meeting god. There is two yogas that i prefer to best fit my

know fit me is karma, this is action and the deeds of getting through suffering. they both fit me, by
me getting my mind of any type situation, with only taking an action or going for walk to cool

Hans Rudolf Giger s Influence On The World
Hans Rudolf Giger was a futurist from the modern era who expressed himself through visual arts.
Born and raised in 1940 Chur, Switzerland, his philosophies as well as visions were heavily
influenced by the social context of World War II. The subject of Giger s works was a direct
response to the struggle of power and heavy reliance on technological inventions. Many of his fears
were related to the influence of machinery and technology, rooting back to the influence the 18th
century during the Industrial Revolution. The apocalyptical visions of H.R. Giger began from the
influence of The Industrial Revolution in which technological advancements enhanced the
efficiency of agriculture, textile, transportation, economic policies and social structure... Show more

Giger were significant as he revolutionized the outlook in surrealism. His work was classified
under Magic Realism, however his contemporaries such as Ernst Fuchs were drastically different
as the trend were to create positive, fantasy artworks. Fuchs style utilizes vivid imagery of many
colour tones to communicate his thoughts. (Fig. 8) However, the two artists shared some
similarities, as they expressed their envisioned world through the use of life, death, and spiritual
elements. The comparison of the two is interesting as Ernst Fuch s artwork captures the positive
outlook of life through the use of heavy natural elements. H.R. Giger is on the opposite side of the
spectrum, as he uses natural elements to heighten our senses of fear. Giger harnesses our natural
senses of fear through the use of familiar imagery such as bones, representing death along with the
gruesomeness of drooling slime, demonstrated in Aliens (Fig. 9). To keep a realistic approach of an
alien invasion in the observer s minds, he implemented realistic themes of invasion and
reproduction as a reinterpretation of the activities humans act upon each other to survive. These
concepts were clearly demonstrated in the face hugger encounter scene as it began to invade the
astronaut s body (Fig. 10). Along with the creation of the alien, this scene was an excellent
demonstration Giger s understanding of spatial composition through the use of materiality and
natural elements (Fig. 11). Along

Chamber Music Is A Form Of Chamber Music
Chamber Music Chamber Music is a form of Classical Music that is composed of a small group

sonata is dedicated for each violinist that they are playing This composition was devoted to his dear
friend and violin student, Queen Elizabeth of Belgium. In the performance, the violinists that they
played this piece were Joyce Hammann and Belinda Whitney. Hammann seated in front of Whitney

Economic Reforms Of Alexander Hamilton
There were many important people in America s early years after the Revolutionary War. Many
people would argue that George Washington or James Madison may be the most important person
in the 15 years following the Revolutionary War, but there is one person who often gets
overlooked. The most important person from America s beginning years as a country is Alexander
Hamilton because of his economic reforms, his compromise with James Madison and Thomas
Jefferson, and his encouragement of manufacturing. Alexander Hamilton was very influential in
America s early years. He was known for his capitalistic views for America. He wanted America to
become a thriving country full of trade, banking, finance, investment, manufacturing, and

James Madison was one of his allies while they were trying to ratify the constitution, but after
James Madison opposed him because of how he assumed the state debts. Madison started a
fierce debate in Congress over this issue because the southern states had paid off more of their
debts than the northern states. His state assumption plan was not passed in Congress, but he did
not give up. He invited Thomas Jefferson and James Madison to dinner in New York City. He
worked to meet a compromise with them within just a night together, and he succeeded. Their
famous compromise decided that the capital would be moved from New York City to
Philadelphia, after this the new capital would be built on a federal district between Maryland and
Virginia, and Hamilton got the votes he needed for his debt assumption plan. This compromise
shows us how persuasive he is. He was also very persuasive when he tried to turn America into an

Implied Powers are powers not listed in the Constitution. They come from and depend on expressed
powers of the government. The basis for implied powers comes from the necessary and proper
clause of the Constitution, Article 1, Section 8. Another name for implied powers is called the
elastic clause because it stretches the power of the government. Implied powers have helped the
government enhance its authority to meet the many problems and situations that the Framers
unseen. Expressed Powers are those powers explicitly named in the Constitution. They grant the
legislative branch a large amount of authority over American national policy, both domestic and
foreign. The Constitution states that the Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes,
imposts, duties, excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare
of the United States; but all imposts, duties, and excises shall be uniformed throughout the United
States (Brady). There are a total of 27 expressed powers listed in the Constitution. Congress
retains a number of special powers. It can act as a judicial body to impeach and try a president or
other civil officer for misconduct. For example, the House of Representatives impeaches the
official and Senate does a trial. Congress is also empowered to create and use administrative
agencies and boards, such as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, to determine

Inheritance Money
Inheritance Money My English IV teacher, Mrs. Parker has been awarded $50,000. She plans to
divide it evenly between two of her most deserving students. I believe I should be one to receive
this money for countless reasons. For one, I am more mature than most of the students in the
class. I make good grades, am never tardy to class, I respect my authority, and am always will to do
what I am told. I try to not show off in class and keep myself humble. If given the money, I promise
to be a good steward and use it wisely. My plan is to put it to good use. I am not going to waste it
on sex, drugs, or alcohol, but instead for the benefit of others as well as myself. If I am chosen, I

Parker s choice not mine of whom to give the money, and I respect that. However, I believe that I
am the obvious choice for her, knowing the potential I hold. She will see what good I can do

the money. When I receive the $25,000, I will immediately put it to good use. The first thing I
will do is donate $410.16 of it to the St. Jude Children s Hospital. The reason I am doing this is
because I have a friend who was born with leukemia, which is a form of cancer, and they took care
of him until he was cancer free. I would had never met my friend if it wasn t for them, and I want
to give in return. I would also spend $13.40 on a book called Mere Christianity written by C. S.
Lewis. I am a Christian, and reading this book would help me grow in my belief. Because I love to
play guitar, I will buy three different guitars for a total of $7,438.99. The best one I would buy
is the Gibson Les Paul. It has a good sound, it looks cool, and is really fun to play. I would also
buy a Marshall Guitar Amp to go with my guitars; the amp is worth $8,995. Because I am in
drumline at my school, I want to buy a marching snare drum which cost $485. We need

The Watershed Management Goals And Objectives
6.0Watershed Management Goals and Objectives
The Howard County Department of Public Works Stormwater Management Division has
developed goals and objectives to enhance water quality, sustainable dwelling, as well as
community outreach in order to realize the vision for the Patuxent River Watershed (HCDPW,
2002). The following describes these objectives as they relate to the specific subject of interest.
6.1Water Quality
The goal is to realize and manage the quality of water required to sustain the marine life of the
Patuxent River Watershed, as well as to safeguard the health of the residential community.
Objectives involve the development of biological and dwelling standards, meeting required water
quality standards, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Objectives are to raise attention and individual participation, to inspire people to take part in land
conservation plans, including advocating a land management routine that preserves resources,
curtails contamination and improves dwellings. Others objectives include supporting the creation
of watershed protection institutions, including non government alliances.
7.0Management Alternatives and Solutions
This section details the priorities and objectives specific to the Patuxent River Watershed.
Alternatives are provided to utilize multiple for the watershed management plan (WMP). The
allocation of funds specific to each of these solutions is also highlighted in the following sections.
7.1Land Preservation
Land preservation involves the safeguarding of delicate land and water assets, as well as
established residences. By utilizing State and County Open Space funds, important green areas
and highland properties can be obtained and preserved. Access to these protected areas is also
obtained through the Agricultural Land Preservation Program, the Howard County Conservancy,
and the Forest Conservation Program (HCDPW, 2002). These programs also establish other useful
legal right plans and policies for the upkeep of open green space. They encourage forest
preservation, as well as reforestation

Why I Was A Mandatory Volunteer Requirement For This Class
To be honest, when I started to dive into this whole process, I had no idea what I was truly
interested in. I was only taking this social work class a a very general way to get engaged with
the community, though I had little idea what that would mean or what it truly entailed. So when
I finally discovered that there was a mandatory volunteer requirement for this class, I was both
excited and nervous at the same time, as it would be my first time going through such a process
without my parents help. It was not until I discovered the Give Kids the World Village that I
began to get a better understanding of what this would really mean for me. To begin with, the
Give Kids the World Village was created by its Founder Henri Landwirth. Henri would
ultimately create the Give Kids the World because of the unfortunate events that happened to his
beloved Amy. Amy was a young girl who Henri cherished dearly, however Amy was suffering
from a terminal illness, leukemia, and it was her last wish was to go to the parks and meet her
favorite characters. However, due to many complications regarding travel, Amy passed away
before her dream was accomplished. From there, Henri would work towards making an
organization that would handle the costs and complications of travel, so that no other parent
should suffer his fate. [1]And thus, the Give Kids the World Village was founded, and with it, it s
only major goal. Which is simply to provide everything families need to make their trip, and to

Film Analysis Of Carrie
The film Carrie (Brian De Palma, 1976) follows the protagonist Carrie White, Sissy Spacek, who
is a shy high school student in a small town. White develops telekinetic powers after receiving her
first period, which turns her world completely upside down; especially seeing as she did not know
what the blood meant. It is not until the end of the filmwhen she starts to embrace her gifts.
Although Carrie is a horror film, the underlying meaning points to the mark of womanhood and
discovering a womans own power, therefore shrinking the malemasculinity right before our eyes.
Carrie is a feminist film where fear comes not in blood or telekinesis, but the fears of strong women.
It is during menstruation, that women are their most self aware, powerful, and destructive. The film

Commentary on Alphonso Lingis’s article, The World as a...
Commentary on Alphonso Lingis s article, The World as a Whole
Martin Heidegger s work in Being and Time elucidated a phenomenological ontology in which
death and anxiety function as the imminent possibility of impossibility, circumscribing Dasein and
inscribing weight to Dasein s temporal existence. He constructs an individual whose ontological
whole is made of three fundamental elements that function as a whole; understanding, feeling and
action. This being, Dasein (translated as Being There), exists in the world, and Heidegger
constructs Dasein s ontology as being in the world. This is the way Alphonso Lingis predicates his
understanding of Heidegerrian phenomenology in an essay from Research in Phenomenology
entitled The World... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Heidegger spoke of Dasein intentionally. He did not want to limit his language to that of
Heidegger and speak of just the human, because the limitations this term would imply. Being
and Time is a very complex work, this article does a very good job at tackling Heidegger s
project, but it focuses on a few things. Lingis discusses Dasein as being constitutive of the world
, Dasein is being in the world. Dasein is in the world, and dwelling is characterized as care ,
states Lingis. He shows us how Dasein sees the things in the world as a field of equipment for
use, The practicable field, a layout of relays, is later characterized as openness. This openness is
suspended in the abysses of nothingness, death. Dasein is thrown into the world, Heidegger shows
us how we are born into a world which we have not constructed, which we cannot control. The
Others are already there, we encounter them when we encounter their buildings, their
constructions, their language. The common world precedes and makes possible the perceptual
field of any individual. The language, the interpretive system of Das Man precedes and makes
possible any singularizing interpretation of one s own situation. Dasein is being in the world with
others. Dasein s function is projection, Dasein is temporal, and as we ve said Dasein has three facets

Tensile Testing In The World Trade Center
Introduction
The World Trade Center was a global icon of The United States of America. The tallest of the
buildings was over 1,300 feet high (10). With such large buildings, the materials used in
construction needed to meet certain standards just to successfully stand erect. The design intent has
the biggest factor for the material selection. In the World Trade Centers, the materials were
supposed to meet certain properties and requirements. The analysis of whether or not the World
Trade Center buildings were built to requirements will be discussed.

Next, it was found to be true that the measured strength typically was greater than the specified
strength, which indicates that the factor of safety is met (8). However, some tests have
measured strengths less than the specified strength (8). Figure 1 displays the factor of safety in
each region of the towers. Anything with a R value less than 1, had a yield strength less than the
specified requirements. Due to this, the part is not classified as defective, but is a form of quality
control (8). This is important because each area of the building needed to be inspected to ensure
that there were no specific regions of failure. The parts of lower strengths have been analyzed and
it has been determined that they had no contribution to the failure of the buildings (8). The factors
of safety were generally met. Figure 1: R measurement versus specified yield strength (8)

Having a ductile fracture rather than a brittle fracture is important. A ductile fracture is able to
absorb more energy than a brittle fracture can (8). Figure 2 shows the relationship between brittle

withstand more stress, but only when lower strains are applied. A ductile fracture can withstand
less stress, but can withstand more strain. This figure illustrates this relationship

Stereotypes In Being A Man By Paul Theroux
Mans Code: ВЁBe where you re suppose to be, do what you re suppose to do, and do it to the
best of your ability.ВЁ Brian Balsmeyer. A man is defined as a provider, protector, center of many
stereotypes, as well as someone who knows their strengths and weaknesses. A man also stays loyal
and honest at all times. Being born a maledoesn t qualify you to eventually become a man. The
traits previously mentioned must be acquired to give the title, a man. The first thing that defines a
man are the stereotypes they must face.
To be a man means to be constantly criticized based on how the world views that sex. Men must
be prepared to be the center of many stereotypes. Almost all stereotypes being very negative. A
man is thought of as a self centered prick whose testosterone has gone to their head, and has a
competitive love for things that don t matter, like sports. In Being a Man by Paul Theroux, he
says to be a man means, ВЁto be stupid, be unfeeling, obedient, soldierly and stop
thinkingВЁ(Theroux). Men are seen to not think about the consequences for the actions they take
part in. An image of a man can be pictured as a large male with big biceps, lots of chest hair, and
when he talks, his voice is deep, making the hair on your skin rise. This ВЁmanВЁ is also more
than likely part of a competitive group. Rebecca Walker states the stereotypethat women only like
masculine, competitive men.

Marx Vs Freud
Marx and Freud are two thinkers of roughly the same time period, mostly the 19th century, into the
20th for Freud. Comparing and contrasting their theories provides for a deeper understanding of
both of their philosophies. Marx s theory of human nature stresses the idea that people are
inherently social. He saw that most of an individual s behavior is dependent on the actions of
others, and noted that even the most mundane aspects of human existence are socially learned.
Additionally, he believed that a person s society determines their behavior, noting differences
among cultures and the fact that there is no one, unified way of thinking that all cultures subscribe
to. This ties in well with his materialist theory of history, which places tremendous... Show more

ideas about childhood sexuality very interesting and persuasive. However, only with the

Literary Analysis Of The Love Song Of J. Alfred Prufrock...
A Literary Analysis of T.S. Eliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock T.S. Eliot was one
among few poets and authors that dominated the years between the First and Second World Wars.
Eliot showed his use of modernism techniques through The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock ,
creating a powerful reputation around the world, particularly as a member of The Lost Generation
in the 1920s. Eliot moved to and settled in London where he worked with famous poets including
Ezra Pound, and published his first collection of poems (McMichael 1358). The Love Song of J.
Alfred Prufrockis a famous work that was almost a mockery of the romance driven main character
of the story, as it represented the indecisiveness of a personality and the superiority of an anti
romanticism ideal. The poem begins with lines 61 66 of Inferno, Canto XXVII, inviting the
reader to gain a sense of how exactly the character in the poem, J. Alfred Prufrock, as given by
the title, might behave as did Guido de Montefeltro in Inferno. Guido de Montefeltro can be
determined to be a character who is in fear of the tarnishing of his reputation from the translation
of the given lines, If I thought my reply were to one who could ever return to the world, this
flame would shake no more; but since, if what I hear is true, none ever did return alive from this
depth, I answer you without fear of infamy. (qtd. in McMichael 1359). The last line, I answer you

Locke And Descartes Argument Analysis
Everyone has their own beliefs about where ideas come from and how they are formed. Locke and
Descartes both had very different arguments about what the origin of these ideas was. Descartes
believed that the origin of ideas stemmed from imagination or reason and that we have been born
with all of the knowledgewe need; we just have to come to an experience or age where we will
know how to use it. Whereas Locke believed that the origin of ideas came from experience and we
have to learn everything we need to know. I agree with both arguments that these philosophers have
presented. Being an Education major and being required to study the ways in which children learn

But in reality children aren t aware of the sky being blue because they have to learn colors when
they go to school for the first time. For instance, it is seen that people in society that don t attend
school only know as much as they have seen in life or have experienced. Individuals evolve
based on their environment. Furthermore, no one person is born knowing that the sky is blue,
all children are supposed to learn colors when they start school or if their parents start working
on colors with them before they start school. Descartes to some extent was right about his ideas
because we know when children are born they cry because the hospital room is cold. They also
cry when they have a full diaper. This proves that infants have a minor sense of communication,
even though they may not understand that they are actually calling to their parents for help. So, it
can be said that humans are born knowing how to cry as a technique to let their loved ones realize
that they are distressed. No one taught them how to cry, babies are just able to come out of the
womb with the ability to cry as a temporary substitute until they can learn how to

Music With Profanity Research Paper
Music with Profanity Every parent out there wants absolutely nothing but the best for their

They strive to make sure their kids to do whatever it takes to become successful in this world. As
you are raised, you are taught to never talk to strangers, always respect your elders, and never use
profanity. Our parents were raised in a whole different domain before we were brought into this
world. So many daily things have changed, from the way we turn on the television in the morning
to how we get to school or work. Things have transformed; for example, explicit musicwas not
criticized as much as it is now because music was very monitored back then. In those days,
profanity wasn t ever heard of because it was banned in almost every household. Music containing

Little Bison Basin Prehistory
Little Bison Basin Prehistory Prior to the last ice age, the entire region of the Great Plains is
believed to have been an inland sea known as the Western Interior Seaway. As this seaway receded,
large animals including mammoths and saber toothed tigers lived in the area. The majority of these
animals became extinct to the region around 13,000 years ago during one of the ice ages. The great
plainsare a vast region of North America that spreads from Canada nearly down to the Coast of
Texas. This region is comprised of primarily flat grounds with the exceptions of the larger
mountain ranges including the Rockies. Within this region is the Little Bison Basin, a stretch
of the Great Plains where glacial rivers feed into the larger Whiskey River. Nevin Feneman in
his 1916 study defines this region as, The term Great Plains , for the region west of about the
96th or 98th meridian and east of the Rocky Mountains, was not generally used before the early
20th century. As vast as the region is, there are many trends that run throughout not the least of
which is the obvious glacial carving. The Little Bison Basin has a relatively new history
shrouded in mystery and revealed through its many glaciers and carved out regions. Prior to and
into the ice age, this entire region was a frozen wasteland, lifeless and barren. In fact, it was so
barren that no people had even ventured into the area. During the last ice age, however, there were
enormous glaciers formed that drank the

Early Childhood Field Essay
After viewing the multimedia presentation, and doing some research the two major contributors of
early childhood field I chose to discuss is Lyndon B. Johnson of the Headstart sector, and Marian
Wright Edelman of the health and Well Beings sector. Although, there are others who were major
contributors to the childhood educationsector. Lyndon B. Johnson, was born in Stonewall, Texas.
After, the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, he was sworn in as the 36th President.
Lyndon Johnson, was a remarkable man. I can relate to this because, I can remember the things
he done to fight against poverty. In 1965, he created Project Headstart Program. This program
was designed to help children and families that was living in poverty, and below the poverty level
(lbjlibrary.org). He wanted to do something about poverty in the world, and that was affecting the
children and families. Although, the program was for the summer, and only lasted eight weeks. I
know from experience, this program is very beneficial because, when it was created I was a child
that went to Headstart during this time. During the first eight weeks of Project... Show more content

Analysis of The First Film with Basic Sounds
1. Introduction
Hearing is believing , as the potential motto of all sound practitioners inteprets, sound has played
a great part in our daily life, so as in the world of film. The first film with basic sound showed up
in the year of 1900 in Paris. Though the technique is quite juvenile, it is indeed a breakthrough in
the film history. The first film with synchronous sound, which is actually the real sound film as we
recognized, is The light of New York published at 1928 by the VitaphoneCorporation (Griffith
1961). This can be seen as a leap in the history of film industry. Film has become increasingly
prosperous since then. In the meantime, the sound effect of films has become more and more
mature and sophisticated.
The film Se7en, first being put on screen in 1995, made a clear manifestation of the seven deadly
sins according to the Christianity, arousing audiences introspection of their sense of morality, and
their consideration of the concept of justice and the meaning of life. As a profound movie, Se7en s
sound effect is exceptional too. This paper will examine some of the sounds that the film uses, and
analyze the effect of the utilization of them. 2. Analysis of basic sound based on particular scenes
2.1 Beginning gluttony
At the beginning of the film, there is alarm for police cars and the speech sound of police officers
using intercom, creating the atmosphere of a crime scene. Then comes in the voice of two
characters, and the dialogue begins. Next, the two

Addiction In Plato s The Allegory Of The Cave
Blinded by Ignorance
The world is full of distractions to keep us comfortable with living in a false reality, one of the
biggest distractions being the internet. The invention of the internet has accommodated us with an
immense amount of knowledge; ironically, the internet also conditions us to accept shallow
knowledge as truth. Plato argues that each person possesses some form of ignorance, and that it is
our job to break free from our chains to truly see the world in its purest form. In The Allegory of
the Cave, Plato uses inductive reasoning through a conversation, symbolism, and imagery to
challenge society s view of reality and compel his readers to stop accepting the world as incomplete
and inaccurate.
The conversation written throughout The Allegory of the Cave forms a very distinctive teacher
/student relationship. This forces the reader to engage with the text, almost as if they were having a
conversation with Plato himself. Plato builds his to his student little by little, asking questions each
step of the way,
And if the objects are being carried in like manner they would only see the shadows? yes, he said
And if they were able to converse with one another, would they not suppose that they were naming
what was actually before them? very true. (pp. 583)
By using inductive reasoning, Plato demands his readers to question their own idea of what reality
is.
Plato applies symbolism throughout his plea so that his readers truly understand how we tend to
accept

The European Union And The United Kingdom
The European Union and the United Kingdom have a long history. Winston Churchill himself is
credited with bringing about the idea for the EU as a United State of Europe . Many in the U.K
are now starting to feel that this may not be the best alliance the U.K could be in. The EU is seen
by many Brits as being too much oversight for too little gains. The U.K does not even identify as
majorly European, and therefore believe they should not have the oversight of the EU. The United
Kingdomleaving the EU should be seen as a major issue, and may be a reality by the end of the
decade. If this were to happen it would have major geopolitical effects on the EU as a whole. The
idea of the U.K not being wholly European is nothing new, the first... Show more content on

This wording only allows for the two possibilities, but Cameron would prefer a third option. The
Conservatives want to somehow work out a deal with the EU to allow the U.K to stay as a free
trade partner but not to be bound by EU policy. Germany has heavily opposed a special U.K
status, but is not opposed to the idea of multiple statuses within the EU for members. If the
referendum passes before these reforms are made the U.K will leave the European Union, this leads
most to expect that the U.K would quickly sign free trade agreements with all the other European
nations. Brits currently favor cession with 50% of those polled favoring it, and 36% not
favoring it. The U.K perspective on this is that many people support this, but there is a divide
between the public and the corporate world. The U.K identify closer to countries like Australia,
Canada, and the U.S than they do with the EU. This feeling of being British, not European has
only helped strengthen the argument for cession. The major group not supporting cession is
large corporations, while in the EU It is far easier for them to do business than if they had to deal
with a renegotiated Eurozone. Many Brits do not see the EU to be giving them much benefit, this
is perhaps the primary reason for leaving the EU. The EU costs Britain quite a bit of pounds each
year to maintain relations with them, and many brits say it is time for the U.K

Finally, we can point out another main challenge for GREENoneTEC that is the rise of raw
material costs which have extremely increased since 1995 (the price of copper had increased by
more than 150 percent in 16 years for example). Thus our company has to deal with this increase
by looking for opportunities to reduce the costs of production. It can play on economic scale,
searching new suppliers less expensive or even changing the conception of its products with
different raw materials. We can notice that GREENoneTEC is facing challenges related to the
Asian competition, to the search of new customers and to the lowering of its costs of production.
The company needs to confront these challenges to stand out from the other companies on the solar
market and to ensure its permanence. Solar industry The solar industry is divided in three main
markets: the European solar thermal market, the Chinese market and the market in other world
regions. The industry is segmented in two main types of solar thermal collectors, which are
evacuated tube collectors (80 per cent on average of the worldwide newly installed capacity in

intensive industries with their central innovation: solar thermal water heating which radically
reduces costs. They can also count on experimented installers. Each customer adopt and have

The Lady s Dressing Room
In Jonathan Swift s poem, The Lady s Dressing Room, the epistemology of experience is mostly
endorsed. In Lady Mary Wortley Montagu s response poem to Swift, The Reasons that Induced
Dr. S[wift] to Write a Poem Called the Lady s Dressing Room, the epistemology of experience is
critiqued. The endorsement and critique is seen in the aesthetics of the poem (rhyme scheme,
alliteration, and diction), how knowledge is presented or acquired, and how knowledge is used.
Jonathan Swift s poem endorses knowledge through experience by taking Strephon into the female
space in order to discover and report his experience in the female dressing room to his audience.
Aesthetically, the rhyme scheme of the poem is AABB, with some of the lines in slant rhyme....

However, the nursery rhyme feelings is still conveyed, which gives off an air of learning. Wortley
Montagu, in creating her pre history, creates a story that conveys the observation in an omniscient
narrator. Wortley Montagu describes the doctor in a way that she is looking in on the situation and
observing. As the poem continues, wit is clearly critiqued. Even though the doctor is learned, his
prestige or knowledge does not allow him to enter into the female space. For example, Wortley
Montagu writes that doctor had joked and punned, and swore and writ/ tried all his gallantry and
Wit/...Could not move this dull hearted Creature (9 14). The doctor only receives access to the
female space through the maid. Even though the doctor is intelligent, the prostitute is able to outwit
the doctor by locking the money up. Wortley Montagu describes the situation best, With Learning
Mad, with wisdom blind (36). Even within Wortley Montagu is a strong critique of the learning
through observation that Swift praises. Wortley Montagu describes Swift s experience and
knowledge as pointless (46). Wortley Montagu shares the certain knowledge is unnecessary. She
also critiques that the reason that knowledge is being acquired needs to be examined as well to
deem the knowledge valuable. Wortley Montagu is critical of the knowledge that is being produced
in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. She calls to question the necessity of the information

Human Causes Of Extinction And Prevention Of Endangered...
Since the beginning of life itself, some species have lived and prospered while other species have
gone extinct never to be seen again by mankind. Because of this, some would claim that extinction
is natural and not significantly problematic to the world that we live in. Others, however,
understand that due to climate change, habitat loss, and poaching, more and more species are
becoming endangered which leads to a chain reaction that can be devastating to ecosystems.
Species such as the Chinook salmon, gorillas, tropical sharks, and polar bears are all directly
affected by climate change, species such as northern spotted owls, Sumatran tigers, and lemurs are
greatly harmed due to habitat loss, and species such as the sea turtle, Javan rhinoceros, African
elephant, and the Red Fronted Macaw are all affected by poaching driving them all closer and
closer to becoming extinct.
Bill Freedmen, author of Endangered Species Human Causes Of Extinction and Endangerment
notes, scientists approximate that present extinction rates are 1,000 to 10,000 times higher than the
average natural extinction rate. These distressing numbers should be acted upon to save the
endangered species and avoid the catastrophic change to this planet if these species were to
become extinct. In order to produce change, people need to recognize that habitat loss, climate
change, and poaching are all factors in why our animal species are going extinct. Climate change is
best known for its contribution to

Leading Shiite Ideologies, Questions and Answers
Questions:
Briefly identify the main features of the 3 main variations among the leading Shiite ideologies with
regard to Iranian culture and the Shah s regime? What were the main issues Ayatollah Khomeini
had with the Shah s regime?
Answer:
The Iranian revolution was an ideological affair. With different visions for the future of Iran, the
revolutionaries were united for toppling the monarchy, which they had substantially. All the visions
of these revolutionary, however, were colored by ideology. Ayatollah Khomeini was the leader of
that Iranian revolution against the shah. Khomeini marched with Shi ite (Shiyah) Ideology to
denounce the Shahs and created a negative impression among the Iranian People against the Shah
s regime. The Shi ite Ideologies were based on Islamic shariah, The Iranian culture was based on
Islamic culture with an increasing influence of western culture and the shah s regime was friendly
with the western culture policies and mostly against the Shi ite Islamic fundamentalism. The
second difference was, shi ite (shiyah) ideology doesn t support the monarchy or imperialism in
Islamic countries, the Iranian culture in that time were divided in their ideology in between shi ite
(Shiyah) and shahs, and the shah s regime was totally a monarchy and supported by the US and
western policy makers. This difference was also mostly liable for the Iranian revolution. The third
and last variation was, the Shi ite (Shiyah) ideologies tends to follow the shariyah,

Sydney Carton Hero
The ideas of heroism in a Victorian sense are very different than those ideas of a hero in Anglo
Saxon literature. The most obvious hero in A Tale of Two Cities is Sydney Carton, but he emerges
very differently than Beowulf. It was never clearly mentioned in the novel that Carton was a hero,
so Dickens expected the reader to infer that that was so. It also wasn t until book three that Carton
became a truly dynamic characterand ultimately became the herohe sought to be. Careless and
slovenly if not debauched (Dickens 55) was how Dickens described Carton s character in book
one. He is merely a man, and a flawed man at the beginning of the novel. Carton s imperfections

the correct boat. You are gonna need an inboard boat to be able to wakesurf. An inboard boat has
the propeller tucked under the boat and is not visible. Never wakesurf behind an outboard or
outboard/inboard boat. These type of boats have the propeller behind the boat. This is really
dangerous because you could fall and get injured by the propeller.

Getting up is the easiest part of wakesurfing. It may seem difficult and very frustrating at first but
once you get the hang of things it will seem so easy. One thing about wakesurfing is that you can
t give up. Just like anything else you have to practice to get better. To get up on a wakesurf board
you will need to lay in the water with the board flat on the water. The nose of the board should be
perpendicular to you and the boat. You wantto lay on your back and put the heels of your feet on
the wakesurf board with your toes pointed up. One heel goes on the very back of the board and
the other goes in the middle. Your legs should be shoulder width apart. Hold the handle of the
rope and make sure the rope is in between your legs. When you are situated, tell the boat driver to
go. Once the rope tightens, keep your arms straight and put some weight on your heels. This will
flip the board up on your feet. You also need to keep your knees up to your chest. This will help
you pop up on the board. If you do all this correctly the board should be on plane and you should
be able to stand up. Once you are up you should get the feel of the board by turning and digging

Individualism In Rocket Boys And The Glass Castle
Individualism. Like all memoirs and novels, Rocket Boys and The Glass Castle present a lesson
that one may choose to live by. In this case, individualism is an evident factor that relates to both
Jeannette s and Sonny s stories. That is, both protagonists displayed the idea of disregarding their
father s wishes for their future and just going for their own.
In The Glass Castle, despite her father s hope to raise Jeannette until he felt he was ready to let
go, Jeannette made a life changing decision to settle in New York City. There she was able to live
her own life away from the constant bickering between her parents. Before then, Jeannette was
indeed showing signs of being independent such as constructing her own set of braces (Walls 201).
However, it wasn t until she physically moved out that it was clear she had become her own person.
For example, the day Jeannette had presented her father with a Christmas present. As her mom had
plainly pointed out, You [Jeannette] buy him all these nice new... Show more content on

other plans for his future. He wanted Sonny to become a miner and if not a miner, a mining

on the way back to the surface was when Sonny finally expressed his opinion on the subject. I
want to go to work for Dr. von Braun, Dad. He [Sonny s Dad] didn t hide his disappointment
(Hickam 174). Once they had reached the surface, Sonny reflected on what had just gone down
between him and his father. Dad was not only made at me, I knew I d hurt him too... I blamed
myself for everything. I should have never agreed to go down in the mine. I knew what Dad was
likely to be getting at, and I knew I wasn t going to agree to it (Hickam 174). In the end, Sonny
pursued his dreams of working in the rocket

Jesus Death Allusion
Immediately preceding Jesus death by crucifixion an oral tradition of recounting the story began to
take hold. Numerous scriptures in Evolution of the Word by Marcus J. Borg, the primary version
of the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV) Bible that will be used in this paper, contradict each
other not only while recounting the death of Jesusbut, a plethora of times while recounting his life
or the interpretations of his message. Even though scriptures contradict each other at every turn it is
hardly enough evidence to simply proclaim that the Bibleis false. Oral tradition simplified is the
passage of significant events, like Jesus crucifixion, from one generation to the next via speech.

the Gospel of Mark was tailored towards early Christians, the majority of which were Jewish.
Roman power had decimated the Jewish Temple and many believed that the second coming was
near, including Mark. Due to the common belief among Christians and Christian Jews that the
second coming was near Mark tailored his death narrative to appeal to his community. Mark
writes in verse 15:34 that before Jesus death he cried out with a loud voice My god, my God,
why have you forsaken me? Mark uses this statement as Jesus last because he wants the Jewish
Christians to better align with Jesus. Since the Jewish Temple no longer stood, Jews felt like
they were no longer in the presence of God or that they were forsaken, which aligned them with
Jesus. Doctor J. Bradley Chance a professor at William Jewell College stated that The temple has
ceased to be what it is supposed to be; rather, it has become an instrument of exclusion of both
the people of God and non Jews. Mark addresses this by writing verses 15:37 39 which stated that
upon Jesus last breath the curtain of the temple was torn in two. By using this wording Mark is
attempting to illustrate that God is no longer off limits to Non Jews, and that God is no longer
confined to the Temple. During Mark s narration of Jesus death he was not only retelling a tragic
story, he was unveiling the path to God to non Jews and Jews by using literary devices to bring
them closer to

Introduction
This proposal is made to meet the requirements of the Create LLC emerging company that has
locations in Houston, Dallas, and Los Angeles. Maintaining a good and secure network across all
locations is one of the important tasks. In order to accomplish the requirements of this company
there must be use of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS server, File Services, Remote Services
and Windows Server Update Service. These resources will be implemented having in mind that the
company will grow in the near future and accommodations on the implementation need to be made.
Active Directory
This company is going to have one main location in Houston and two other locations in Dallas and
Los Angeles. The Houston location is going to use corp.createllc.com, while the Dallas location is
going to use dallas.corp.createllc.com, and the Los Angeles location is going to use
losangeles.corp.createllc.com. This way all the locations are connected to each other, there can be
interaction between one location and the other one and authorized users are able to get information
needed from any location.
In order to monitor domain traffic, all locations are going to have domain controllers. This way
traffic will decrease and logon processes will be faster. The Houston location will use the Schema

National Debt and Budget Deficit Essay
Much like a person or a corporation, the United States government uses money for its operations;
meaning that it has both income and expenses. The income of the United States is derived from
various taxes and fees and the expenses are what the U.S. government pays out for national defense,
highways, social welfare programs, and various other programs.
In an election year, the average citizen is apt to hear a great deal of talk about income, taxes,
spending, and more importantly budget deficits and the national debt. Given all of the talk, one
may come to think that budget deficits and the national debt are one in the same. While the two do
go hand in hand, it is important to understand that they are two separate things. ... Show more

Of course, when we, as individuals, borrow money and we pay interest on it, which increases our
debt.
The U.S. is no different. In fiscal year 2007, the U.S. paid out $430 billion in interest. This
exorbitant interest expense continues to increase the U.S. annual deficit, which in turn, continues to
increase the national debt that now stands at over $9.5 trillion (Hall, 2008).
As anyone who has experienced financial trouble, especially with credit cards, it is the interest on
the debt that creates the biggest problem. For the U.S., the only way to reduce the interest is to
reduce the debt. The only to reduce the debt is to begin paying it off, and the only way to pay off
the debt is to sustain significant surpluses.
The only way to sustain a surplus is to spend less than one receives. On an individual plane, this is
certainly feasible. However, on a national plane, in order to maintain a surplus is to reduce
government spending and increase taxes. No other solutions are possible. References

La Bahia Meaning
1.LA BAHГЌA. La BahГa, literally the bay, is a term with multiple meanings in Texas history.
Various sites on the Gulf Coast were so designated. The Spanish came to use the name as a short
form of La BahГa del EspГritu Santo, or Bay of the Holy Spirit, now called Matagorda Bay and
Lavaca Bay, bounded by present Calhoun, Victoria, Jackson, and Matagorda counties. (In 1519
Alonso ГЃlvarez de Pineda called the Mississippi Riverthe RГo del EspГritu Santo, and others
extended the name to the bay.) The official application of the name to Matagorda and Lavaca bays
occurred during the Spanish search for the French colony planted by RenГ© Robert Cavelier, Sieur
de La Salle.

Persuasive Essay On Refugee Camps
What about Angel and my grandfather? Steve asked.
We ll look for them later, Shelly said. Emily, can you use your powers to disable to cameras?
I think so, Emily said.
Emily imagined all the security cameras shutting off.
I m assuming the security cameras are off, Emily said.
Good, Shelly said. Let s go.
The teenagers quietly made their way to the fence. Emily took a few steps forward. But an alarm
sounded.
What do we do? Allison asked.
I don t know, Shelly said.
The security guards captured them. The security guards blindfolded the teenagers and they put
them in handcuffs. The security guards then took the teenagers on a bus. The teenagers had a long
journey. But eventually, they arrived to an unknown location. Even though the teenagers had their
blindfolds on, they knew that they have entered a building.
Eventually, somebody took off the teenagers blindfolds and their handcuffs. They were in a cell
with no windows nor beds. But there were benches to sit on, a toilet, a sink, and carpet on the floor.
Welcome to prison, Skienski said. The purpose of our refugee camps is to help you become citizens
of our country. By trying to break out, you are breaking your refugee status. Therefore, you re
considered to be illegal immigrants. So you will all stay in this cell until your trails. Enjoy each
other s company.
Skienski left the cell and closed the door. The teenagers sat on the benches in silence until Shelly
spoke up about a minute later.

Archaic Apollo Poem
Poem Commentary; Archaic Torso of Apollo
Archaic Torso of Apollo is a poem by Rainer Maria Rilke. Rilke was a Bohemian Austrian poet
and the poem has been translated from German to English. The poem s literal reference is to a
statue named the Miletus Torso. The marble statue represents a male s torso with no head, arms,
or legs and is suspected to be a depiction of a Greek god. It currently resides in the Louvre Museum
in Paris. Archaic Torso of Apollois a sonnet with typical stanza and rhyme scheme but Rilke uses
vivid imagery and literal references to get his message to the reader. The title is straightforward and
automatically directs readers to what the poem is about. The two main patterns of the poem are
references to the missing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, when we look at statues (of people) the first thing we notice is the face and that is
what we base beauty on. However, when you remove the face you can look at other parts and
see how they have their own allure. Rilke starts off with we cannot know his legendary head ,
stating how the head, the main focal point of a statue, is missing. The poem then goes and yet
his torso is still suffused with brilliance because the torso is all that is left to look at and is still
brilliant in itself. The strongest point is which his gaze, now turned to low, gleams in all its
power. Otherwise the curved breast could not dazzle you so . The torso (and breast) is now the
focal point after time has broken the perfect face which now has no gaze to turn on viewers. But
now the breast, the shoulders, and hips can demonstrate the careful craftsmanship of the marble.
These individual elements can now be looked at in awe because they are the big picture now. Rilke
makes a pattern of pointing out missing parts from the statue and that contributes to the idea that
beauty can be found in each element, because the spotlight is now turned on each part in

Internal Conflict In Much Ado About Nothing
In the play Much Ado About Nothing by Shakespeare, Shakespeare consistently shows that success
in the play comes from balancing external and internal conflict between two protagonists. Much
Ado About Nothing follows the story of the humorous war between Beatrice and Benedick and the
love story of Claudio and Hero. Both external and internal conflictare displayed in Beatrice and
Benedick when they come to the realization that they have unexpected lovefor each other. Internal
and external conflict makes the play successful because of its balance throughout. Internal and
external conflict throughout the play makes it successful because the audience can relate to the
characters in that to find love within someone else you must go through conflict to create the bond
between two people to create love.
In the first scene of Much Ado about nothing we first see external conflict between Beatrice and
Benedick in Leonato s estate where they continuously exchange witty insults. Benedick goes on
to talk about his way of sleeping around with as many women as he wants and constantly putting
beatrice down. What, my dear Lady Disdain! Are you yet living? This shows external conflict
from Benedick towards Beatrice by insulting her and putting her down. This shows the clear
dislike for Beatrice and that they have a poor relationship between each other and his negative
outlook on love. Lady Disdain is a metaphor that gives Beatrice a title that she is negative and a
difficult person. Beatrice then proceeds to comeback with more witty remarks towards
Benedick as a way of showing her hatred towards Benedick and. I would rather hear my dog bark
at a crow than a man swear he loves me . This also shows an external conflict in Beatrice because
of her dislike for Benedick and men in general and would rather stay an independent woman than
deal with the dramas and conflict that come with love. The technique Shakespeare uses in this
quote is a contrast. This is done to emphasis how meaningless love is to her and that she doesn t
need love to be happy. External conflict makes this scene successful because it gives the audience
insight on what both the characters are like and their views on love. It is clear that both Beatrice and

Steven Universe Character Traits
Steven Universe is one of the most brilliantly crafted, beautifully animated, genuinely emotional
forms of any sort of entertainment this century. It has such a great set of characters: Steven
Quartz Universe: A positive, fun loving guy who when it is the time, gets serious. He has a huge
burden that his mother has left him to deal with. He has grown so much throughout the show. He
is very funny and he is also serious. Garnet: Garnet is not your average mysterious and strong
kind of character. She is way more. Garnet is voiced by Estelle who is an amazing artist. Garnet is
not just the typical wise guy character, she has flaws. She is strong, smart, funny, inspirational, and
an overall stupendous character. Amethyst: Like all these characters has surpassed the stereotypical
only there for humor character. She is the most developed character so far. At first she seems only
like a insecure gem. And we find out that is exactly that. But she has changed so much.... Show

  • 2. How Does Realism And Idealism Affect Our International... Amidst Political Idealism, Realism The theories of realism and idealism are as old as politics, itself. There has always been one group looking as things as they are, asking finite questions like how much will it cost, examining actions over intentions and another group aiming for how things should be while asking is this morally right, just or conscionable?. How does realism and idealism affect our international political landscape? Although theory suggests that politicians operate from one camp or another, is it impossible to navigate life supporting every initiative of one camp or another? One may in fact possess an idealistic viewpoint or attitude overall but, cast a vote for a more realistic solution of a particular situation. Evidence suggests that descriptors of realism and idealism are blurred lines, although it is in direct conflict with the teachings of political science, which have not changed much since inception. ...one cannot understand Hitler s Germany and Stalin s Soviet Union, the two most destructive states of the twentieth century... Both regimes were driven by the desire to remake first their societies and then the world. Born and raised in 1940 Chur, Switzerland, his philosophies as well as visions were heavily influenced by the social context of World War II. The subject of Giger s works was a direct response to the struggle of power and heavy reliance on technological inventions. Many of his fears were related to the influence of machinery and technology, rooting back to the influence the 18th century during the Industrial Revolution. The apocalyptical visions of H.R. His work was classified under Magic Realism, however his contemporaries such as Ernst Fuchs were drastically different as the trend were to create positive, fantasy artworks. Fuchs style utilizes vivid imagery of many colour tones to communicate his thoughts. (Fig. 8) However, the two artists shared some similarities, as they expressed their envisioned world through the use of life, death, and spiritual elements. The comparison of the two is interesting as Ernst Fuch s artwork captures the positive outlook of life through the use of heavy natural elements. H.R. Giger is on the opposite side of the spectrum, as he uses natural elements to heighten our senses of fear. Giger harnesses our natural senses of fear through the use of familiar imagery such as bones, representing death along with the gruesomeness of drooling slime, demonstrated in Aliens (Fig. 9). To keep a realistic approach of an alien invasion in the observer s minds, he implemented realistic themes of invasion and reproduction as a reinterpretation of the activities humans act upon each other to survive. These concepts were clearly demonstrated in the face hugger encounter scene as it began to invade the astronaut s body (Fig. 10). Along with the creation of the alien, this scene was an excellent demonstration Giger s understanding of spatial composition through the use of materiality and natural elements (Fig. 11). Along ... Commentary on Alphonso Lingis s article, The World as a Whole Martin Heidegger s work in Being and Time elucidated a phenomenological ontology in which death and anxiety function as the imminent possibility of impossibility, circumscribing Dasein and inscribing weight to Dasein s temporal existence. He constructs an individual whose ontological whole is made of three fundamental elements that function as a whole; understanding, feeling and action. This being, Dasein (translated as Being There), exists in the world, and Heidegger constructs Dasein s ontology as being in the world. Lingis discusses Dasein as being constitutive of the world , Dasein is being in the world. Dasein is in the world, and dwelling is characterized as care , states Lingis. He shows us how Dasein sees the things in the world as a field of equipment for use, The practicable field, a layout of relays, is later characterized as openness. This openness is suspended in the abysses of nothingness, death. Dasein is thrown into the world, Heidegger shows us how we are born into a world which we have not constructed, which we cannot control. The common world precedes and makes possible the perceptual field of any individual. Anything with a R value less than 1, had a yield strength less than the specified requirements. Due to this, the part is not classified as defective, but is a form of quality control (8). This is important because each area of the building needed to be inspected to ensure that there were no specific regions of failure. Whereas Locke believed that the origin of ideas came from experience and we have to learn everything we need to know. I agree with both arguments that these philosophers have presented. Furthermore, no one person is born knowing that the sky is blue, all children are supposed to learn colors when they start school or if their parents start working on colors with them before they start school. Descartes to some extent was right about his ideas because we know when children are born they cry because the hospital room is cold. They also cry when they have a full diaper. Introduction Hearing is believing , as the potential motto of all sound practitioners inteprets, sound has played a great part in our daily life, so as in the world of film. The first film with basic sound showed up in the year of 1900 in Paris. Though the technique is quite juvenile, it is indeed a breakthrough in the film history. The first film with synchronous sound, which is actually the real sound film as we recognized, is The light of New York published at 1928 by the VitaphoneCorporation (Griffith 1961). This can be seen as a leap in the history of film industry. Film has become increasingly prosperous since then. In the meantime, the sound effect of films has become more and more mature and sophisticated. The film Se7en, first being put on screen in 1995, made a clear manifestation of the seven deadly sins according to the Christianity, arousing audiences introspection of their sense of morality, and their consideration of the concept of justice and the meaning of life. As a profound movie, Se7en s sound effect is exceptional too. This paper will examine some of the sounds that the film uses, and analyze the effect of the utilization of them. 2. Analysis of basic sound based on particular scenes 2.1 Beginning gluttony At the beginning of the film, there is alarm for police cars and the speech sound of police officers using intercom, creating the atmosphere of a crime scene. Then comes in the voice of two characters, and the dialogue begins. Next, the two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 26. Addiction In Plato s The Allegory Of The Cave Blinded by Ignorance The world is full of distractions to keep us comfortable with living in a false reality, one of the biggest distractions being the internet. The invention of the internet has accommodated us with an immense amount of knowledge; ironically, the internet also conditions us to accept shallow knowledge as truth. Plato argues that each person possesses some form of ignorance, and that it is our job to break free from our chains to truly see the world in its purest form. In The Allegory of the Cave, Plato uses inductive reasoning through a conversation, symbolism, and imagery to challenge society s view of reality and compel his readers to stop accepting the world as incomplete and inaccurate. The conversation written throughout The Allegory of the Cave forms a very distinctive teacher /student relationship. This forces the reader to engage with the text, almost as if they were having a conversation with Plato himself. Plato builds his to his student little by little, asking questions each step of the way, And if the objects are being carried in like manner they would only see the shadows? yes, he said And if they were able to converse with one another, would they not suppose that they were naming what was actually before them? very true. In Lady Mary Wortley Montagu s response poem to Swift, The Reasons that Induced Dr. S[wift] to Write a Poem Called the Lady s Dressing Room, the epistemology of experience is critiqued. The endorsement and critique is seen in the aesthetics of the poem (rhyme scheme, alliteration, and diction), how knowledge is presented or acquired, and how knowledge is used. • 33. Human Causes Of Extinction And Prevention Of Endangered... Since the beginning of life itself, some species have lived and prospered while other species have gone extinct never to be seen again by mankind. Because of this, some would claim that extinction is natural and not significantly problematic to the world that we live in. Others, however, understand that due to climate change, habitat loss, and poaching, more and more species are becoming endangered which leads to a chain reaction that can be devastating to ecosystems. Species such as the Chinook salmon, gorillas, tropical sharks, and polar bears are all directly affected by climate change, species such as northern spotted owls, Sumatran tigers, and lemurs are greatly harmed due to habitat loss, and species such as the sea turtle, Javan rhinoceros, African elephant, and the Red Fronted Macaw are all affected by poaching driving them all closer and closer to becoming extinct. Bill Freedmen, author of Endangered Species Human Causes Of Extinction and Endangerment notes, scientists approximate that present extinction rates are 1,000 to 10,000 times higher than the average natural extinction rate. These distressing numbers should be acted upon to save the endangered species and avoid the catastrophic change to this planet if these species were to become extinct. With different visions for the future of Iran, the revolutionaries were united for toppling the monarchy, which they had substantially. Since the Jewish Temple no longer stood, Jews felt like they were no longer in the presence of God or that they were forsaken, which aligned them with Jesus. Doctor J. Bradley Chance a professor at William Jewell College stated that The temple has ceased to be what it is supposed to be; rather, it has become an instrument of exclusion of both the people of God and non Jews. Mark addresses this by writing verses 15:37 39 which stated that upon Jesus last breath the curtain of the temple was torn in two. By using this wording Mark is attempting to illustrate that God is no longer off limits to Non Jews, and that God is no longer confined to the Temple. During Mark s narration of Jesus death he was not only retelling a tragic story, he was unveiling the path to God to non Jews and Jews by using literary devices to bring them closer to ... • 45. National Debt and Budget Deficit Essay Much like a person or a corporation, the United States government uses money for its operations; meaning that it has both income and expenses. The income of the United States is derived from various taxes and fees and the expenses are what the U.S. government pays out for national defense, highways, social welfare programs, and various other programs. In an election year, the average citizen is apt to hear a great deal of talk about income, taxes, spending, and more importantly budget deficits and the national debt. Given all of the talk, one may come to think that budget deficits and the national debt are one in the same. While the two do go hand in hand, it is important to understand that they are two separate things. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course, when we, as individuals, borrow money and we pay interest on it, which increases our debt. The U.S. is no different. In fiscal year 2007, the U.S. paid out $430 billion in interest. This exorbitant interest expense continues to increase the U.S. annual deficit, which in turn, continues to increase the national debt that now stands at over $9.5 trillion (Hall, 2008). As anyone who has experienced financial trouble, especially with credit cards, it is the interest on the debt that creates the biggest problem. For the U.S., the only way to reduce the interest is to reduce the debt. The only to reduce the debt is to begin paying it off, and the only way to pay off the debt is to sustain significant surpluses. The only way to sustain a surplus is to spend less than one receives. On an individual plane, this is certainly feasible. However, on a national plane, in order to maintain a surplus is to reduce government spending and increase taxes. No other solutions are possible. • 48. Archaic Apollo Poem Poem Commentary; Archaic Torso of Apollo Archaic Torso of Apollo is a poem by Rainer Maria Rilke. Rilke was a Bohemian Austrian poet and the poem has been translated from German to English. The poem s literal reference is to a statue named the Miletus Torso. The marble statue represents a male s torso with no head, arms, or legs and is suspected to be a depiction of a Greek god. It currently resides in the Louvre Museum in Paris. Archaic Torso of Apollois a sonnet with typical stanza and rhyme scheme but Rilke uses vivid imagery and literal references to get his message to the reader. The title is straightforward and automatically directs readers to what the poem is about. The two main patterns of the poem are references to the missing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, when we look at statues (of people) the first thing we notice is the face and that is what we base beauty on. However, when you remove the face you can look at other parts and see how they have their own allure. Rilke starts off with we cannot know his legendary head , stating how the head, the main focal point of a statue, is missing. The poem then goes and yet his torso is still suffused with brilliance because the torso is all that is left to look at and is still brilliant in itself. The strongest point is which his gaze, now turned to low, gleams in all its power. Otherwise the curved breast could not dazzle you so . The torso (and breast) is now the focal point after time has broken the perfect face which now has no gaze to turn on viewers. But now the breast, the shoulders, and hips can demonstrate the careful craftsmanship of the marble. These individual elements can now be looked at in awe because they are the big picture now. Rilke makes a pattern of pointing out missing parts from the statue and that contributes to the idea that beauty can be found in each element, because the spotlight is now turned on each part in ... • 49. Internal Conflict In Much Ado About Nothing In the play Much Ado About Nothing by Shakespeare, Shakespeare consistently shows that success in the play comes from balancing external and internal conflict between two protagonists. Much Ado About Nothing follows the story of the humorous war between Beatrice and Benedick and the love story of Claudio and Hero. Both external and internal conflictare displayed in Beatrice and Benedick when they come to the realization that they have unexpected lovefor each other. Internal and external conflict makes the play successful because of its balance throughout. Internal and external conflict throughout the play makes it successful because the audience can relate to the characters in that to find love within someone else you must go through conflict to create the bond between two people to create love. In the first scene of Much Ado about nothing we first see external conflict between Beatrice and Benedick in Leonato s estate where they continuously exchange witty insults. Benedick goes on to talk about his way of sleeping around with as many women as he wants and constantly putting beatrice down. What, my dear Lady Disdain! Are you yet living? This shows external conflict from Benedick towards Beatrice by insulting her and putting her down. This shows the clear dislike for Beatrice and that they have a poor relationship between each other and his negative outlook on love. Lady Disdain is a metaphor that gives Beatrice a title that she is negative and a difficult person. Beatrice then proceeds to comeback with more witty remarks towards Benedick as a way of showing her hatred towards Benedick and. I would rather hear my dog bark at a crow than a man swear he loves me . This also shows an external conflict in Beatrice because of her dislike for Benedick and men in general and would rather stay an independent woman than deal with the dramas and conflict that come with love. The technique Shakespeare uses in this quote is a contrast. This is done to emphasis how meaningless love is to her and that she doesn t need love to be happy. External conflict makes this scene successful because it gives the audience insight on what both the characters are like and their views on love. It is clear that both Beatrice and ...
