Essay about Iago Of Othello
Iago of Othello
What makes a good villain? What qualities make one villain stand out from another? Is it their
demeanor, ruthlessness, or the methods that they employ to accomplish their tasks? In any case, a
great villain must leave the reader with a respect for their methods and a question about their motives.
In Shakespeare s Othello, there is one character in Iago that fulfills all of these qualifications. Iago is a
wonderful villain because he gains other s trust, relentlessly takes advantage of his peers flaws, and
unapologetically causes the deaths of his counterparts in order to achieve his goals. The main weapon
Iago used in his villainy was trust. Iago knew how to play to each character s personality to get them

Aside from being Othello s right hand man throughout a majority of the play, he also has a level of
comfort with Cassio. This comfort is shown in his willingness to talk about Desdemona when the two
are on night patrol. This reliance was something Iago exploited each time he had a chance. Every time
a desire was expressed, Iago was there with a solution that always benefited Iago in the end. For
instance, it was Iago that suggested to Roderigo that he attempt to kill Cassio in order to get
Desdemona to be interested in him. It was also Iago s work in stoking up the fires of revenge in
Othello s belly regarding the affair between Desdemona and Cassio. For each situation, every word
that was said was for the advancement of Iago and the destruction of all others. Iago also acts as a
contributor to each character s flaws in the play. For example, in act two, Iago influences Cassio to
have some drinks in order to start a quarrel between Cassio and Roderigo. In another example, in act
three, Iago gets Othello to believe that there is an affair between Desdemona and Cassio by building
on the suspicions and doubts that Othello had before Iago even spoke to him. Finally, as the smoking
gun that Othello was looking for, Iago presents the handkerchief to Othello along with a fabricated
story about it s whereabouts. These actions contribute to the eventual demise of all of these characters,
but it also leads to

Health And Illness Of Healthcare
Healthcare is provided by a number of different professionals to achieve the restoration of a balance
between all factors of a person s life when faced with disease, illness, injury, childbirth and surgery.
The main health care professionals that are required are doctors nurses, midwives and paramedical
personnel. This multidisciplinary team approach to health care brings a number of benefits to the
patient and many systems and processes are in place to achieve a high standard of patient outcomes.
Positive relationship between patients and the healthcare providers promotes patient centered care and
enhances outcomes. (Dwamena et al,.2012; Laine Davidoff, 1996).
Healthcare professionals build a strong network of providing healthcare driven programming,
leadership initiatives to address the ongoing challenges of providing better healthcare.
Health and illness lie on a continuum for all individuals from birth through to death. Humans are very
well organized but we rely heavily on all our systems integrating smoothly and without problems.
However when a person s internal balance changes with one system not functioning well then a flow
on of problems to other systems may occur with it including physically, psychologically and socially.
Over time other disciplines began to emerge especially as technologies expanded and it was
recognized that people often needed health services other than physical care in order to maintain
wellness.

Finance and Funding in United States Refugee Resettlement: A System Evaluation
The United States resettles thousands of refugees every year from all over the globe. Once a refugee
goes through an application process and is approved to be resettled in the United States, the official
process of resettlement can begin. How does the United States fund refugee resettlement? Are the
allocated funds being used in an effective way that allow for long term success of individuals who
have been resettled? These or common questions and concerns regarding US refugee resettlement.
This evaluation seeks to expose the reality of the financial and funding process involved in the
resettlement of refugees in the United States and explore ways in which it could potentially be
improved upon.
It is important to note that this study solely focuses on refugees and does not cover other migrant
populations such as asylum seekers. Both refugees and asylees are individuals who are unable or
unwilling to return to their country of origin or nationality because of persecution or a well founded
fear of persecution ( Refugees and Asylees in the United States ). The key difference between the two
populations is location and admission process to the United States. Refugees are screened and vetted
for resettlement outside of the US. Therefore, they arrive with a pre approved and

Riot Grrrl Sociology
These three readings offer some insight into how music is not only used as a means of entertainment,
but in other ways such as self expression and as a voice for the audience. In Julia Downes s journal
article (The expansion of punk rock: Riot Grrrl challenges to gender power relations in British indie
music subcultures) she discusses and explores how the punk feminist movement, Riot grrrl, provoked
young woman and girls to stand up and rebel against the norm of culture, such as how punk was a
male dominated genre. Hector Qirko agrees with this thesis as in his article, (Consumer authentication
of popilar music in the global postmodern), he explores how music gains an identity through social
means. Gillian Mitchell in his journal article (From ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ways in which music is categorized is by several aspects of the music and social characteristics
such as, the technical aspects i.e. (Instrumentation, sound, vocal style, song structure, time signature)
Behavioral aspects (outfits what short of fashion people that play the music and people that listen to
the music adopt, how the artist s and the people that listen to the music act.) social and ideological
rules (Stereotypes, the kid of people that listen to the music e.g. old people, young people). (Franco
Fabbri and Iain Chambers 1982) These aspects help to determine how music is categorized in: record
stores, radio stations, and through global events such as the Grammys or large genre specific concerts.
Qirko studied this by looking at other people s works such as Machado and Frith and considered their
opinions, by considering their opinions it meant that he could back up his clams and thoughts with
supporting statements by others. He also looked at testing done by McLeod s and Taylor, to see how
consumers react to recordings of Cuban based music and then analyzed them thematically. Theses test
concluded the different ways that consumers identified the category that the music came from, in this
case many of the consumers considered factors such as the Cuban

A Summary Of Jesus And The Lamentation Of Christ
Today I will be comparing these two late Medieval Italian paintings which have a story that arranged
throughout the chapel, both paintings show Mary saying goodbye to her late son, Jesus. Looking at the
painting Lamentation of Christ (Duccio) you can notice that the background is a golden tone with a
mountain displayed in The Mourning of Christ (Giotto) you can notice the background is a bright blue
not a golden tone, you can notice a difference in the sky that makes you wonder whether it was day or
night. The most basic difference probably lies in the area ten angels flying around in the sky in the
Mourning of Christ (Giotto) painting which the Lamentation of Christ (Duccio) painting fails to show
any angels failing to give a fantasy theme to the painting. As you glance at both the Mourning of
Christ (Giotto) and the Lamentation of Christ (Duccio) painting you can also notice that in the
Mourning of Christ (Giotto) painting Jesus and his Seven disciples all have halos around their head
which is merely a round flat plated halo behind their heads. The focus in the Lamentation of Christ
(Duccio) are on both Jesus and his Disciples, those who are closest to him while in the Giotto painting
the focus is on the left side of the canvas and being focused on the center of the canvas showing not
only the disciples and the audience of Jesus s death. In the Giotto painting they depict the importance
of disciples and those closer Jesus with halos. In

Julius Caesar Essay
Caius Julius Caesar remains one of the most famous Romans to have ever lived. As well as being a
brilliant politician and a military genius, Caesar also had his way with women. He had a few affairs
with some very beautiful and interesting women, with whom he used for political gains as well as
being lovers with. With his charismatic leadership and ambition, Caesar s rise to power came rather
quickly, and he ultimately became the dictator of the Roman Empire. Caesar is a very interesting man
to study about and his accomplishments are still referenced till this day. He caught the attention of
Shakespeare and Shaw, their plays may be exaggerated for a more dramatic effect from the events that
probably occurred, but regardless, most people have heard of Julius Caesar and know he was a man of
great accomplishments. Julius Caesar was born into a patrician family in a republic, on Quincitilis,
which would later be replaced by Julius in the Julian calendar in honor of Caesar during his reign.
Eventually evolving into what we now know as July. Despite his great reputation, everything did not
exactly go as he planned. Nearly twenty years old he narrowly 333avoided being executed for
opposing the military dictator Sulla, for not divorcing his first wife Cornelia, due to them being in
rival families to the throne.1 He was also captured and held for ransom by pirates, in which he
mocked the pirates saying I am going to come back and execute you all , the pirates all laughed, so did

Out-Traditional Family
The nuclear family, and its out dated definition given by George Murdock, was once considered the
most natural and unquestioned of all family structures. However, as the definition of family expands
to encompass more than just heterosexual relationships with two children, this unquestioned model is
beginning to look out dated. However, a new trend is emerging that is allowing the nuclear family to
keep its form while still moving into the new 21st century model of family. It has now become the
norm to have mothers in the workforce, but what about fathers. Where is their change in pace? In
recent years the number of stay at home fathers has been increasing, and with this modification to the

Analysis Of Revolt Of The Cockroach By Oscar Zeta Acosta
The text Revolt of the Cockroach by Oscar Zeta Acosta is about young Chicanos who are protesting
for their rights. Many of the Chicanos are not allowed in churches due to their race, their own schools
don t allow them to do certain things. Therefor this book is during the walkouts that happen in the

the Chicano Militants get arrested for a variety of things. Therefore Buffalo Zeta Brown joins the

Moonlight Reflection
In the movie Moonlight, written and directed by Berry Jenkins, follows an introverted black boy
named Chiron through three pivotal stages in his life as he struggles to come to term with his
sexuality. What made it even harder for Chiron was living in a drug infested, poverty stricken
environment filled with people who constantly remind him that he is different. Throughout the three
stories Chiron gets bullied through his childhood and high school years, causing him to eventually
snap into what his society wanted him to be.
In the opening scene of Part One, Chiron s childhood, there s a shot of little Chiron running as fast as
he can away from a group of boys who are chasing him through a field calling him a faggot. This
really shows that the boys that were chasing him think that it is not okay that Chiron is different
compared to them. After being chased into an abandoned apartment Chiron is introduced to Juan who
eventually becomes somewhat of a role model for Chiron. The reason Juan becomes such a role model
is because he is the perfect example of how masculine a man should be.
Little gets picked on every day by almost everyone at his school except for his friend Kevin, who
thinks that Chiron is too soft and tries to toughen him up. The fact that Kevin, the one person who
does not bully him still tells Chiron that he needs to become tougher. This just shows how deeply
rooted in Chiron s society that every man should be tough. In one scene at school, Little, and

The Cultural Heritage Of Buddhist Art
On March 1, 2001, two of the worlds most important pieces of Buddhist art were destroyed. Currently,
there is a similar site facing the same fate. The destruction of Buddhist art is often linked to the
destruction of cultural heritage. Because art is the best window we have into the origins and growth of
a culture, it is important to preserve this source of history. With the destruction of each piece of art, we
loose a part of our past as a human race, whether it be your own culture or not. The issues facing
Buddhist art should matter to us all as it is not only a problem the religion has faced before, but a very
urgent situation that required immediate action. Up until 2001, two colossal statues known as the

In the National Geographic special, Lost Treasures of Afghanistan, we see a team of archeologist
working hard to find a legendary third statue at Bamiyan: the sleeping Buddha. This statue is said to
be even bigger than the two destroyed 15 years ago. This search has renewed hope for many who felt
the devastating blow that came with the destruction of some of the world s most important piece of
Buddhist art. Many have tried to look into what lead to the decision to destroy these symbols of not
only the Buddhist faith, but also pieces of the cultural heritage in Afghanistan. Pierre Centlivre not
only looked at how the world was reacting, but also took a close look at how the Taliban justified their
actions themselves. One of the reasons they felt they had the right to go about destroying these works
of art was because they didn t believe in the significance of any religion or religious figures. When
asked to comment on the event and the outrage the Taliban was facing in response to it, Mullah Omar,
the man who issued the order for the destruction he denounced the importance of Buddhism to the
country. So why preserve false [sic] idols? And if they have no religious character, why get so upset?
It is just a question of breaking stones. 4 This disregard for other religions is foreign to us here in the
US, because we try hard to obtain a level of respect for religions that are not our own, to a certain
extent. Mullah is basically saying that Buddhism

opinions, facts, and inferences. This essay that I am using is about ghosts with my thoughts and
opinions about it based off a journal.
To start off in this outcome reflection is my essay engaging in a reasoned civic discourse. In other
words, going into a conversation with They Say and I Say . In my introduction and second paragraph,
I included a small personal story in the beginning with my position established, then introduced a
journal article and the author on this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To extrapolate, I summarized the author s journal article and his points. For example, The article that
Heller created starts off with his experience of a ghost tour in Savannah, Georgia . This is half of the
reasoned civil discourse by stating They Say . Afterwards, I included my perspective in the subject by
stating, Although I agree with Heller to a certain point, I cannot accept his overriding assumption just
from this tour alone that ghosts are not real . This exemplifies the conversation that I am trying to
establish between the author and I, thus satisfying part of Student Learning Outcome #6 in terms of
engaging in a reasoned civic discourse.
The next part of Student Learning Outcome #6 is recognizing opinions, facts, and inferences.
Throughout my essay, I have included references in which are statistically based on research. To
exemplify, it stated, It turns out that a significant amount of people report having personally

Russian Formalism And The Hero
The title hero has been around for a long time. There are many things that can pop into a person s head
when the word hero is said. Within Russian formalism, there is the idea of structures and perceptions
within literature. The time, place, historical movement, and author, can change the perceptions of a
novel or even how it is written. Stories have been around since people started to communicate. Stories
or myths were used to teach lessons, for entertainment, or to keep history alive. There have always
been different types of stories that people would talk about. One type of story that has been around for
a long time is the story of heroes. The stories started out having hidden lessons within the stories. To
fully understand the archetype, or structure, of the hero quest Russian formalism will be discussed.
With understanding Russian formalism, it then will be connected to the hero quest structure. The hero
quest structure will then be broken down to be explained. To better understand the hero quest the
French novel, Kiffe Kiffe Tomorrow by Faïza Guène will be analyzed using this structure. Following
the concepts of Russian formalism, novels can be classified through the hero quest structure
influencing the perceptions of the works.
Russian formalism is a mixture of symbolism theory mixed with linguistic theory. But, with formalism
studies are more scientific and objective than that of symbolist theory. Russian formalism is a type of
literary criticism and looks at the

Marginalism Of John Bates Clark
Quiz 1 Do you agree or disagree with the analysis states below I disagree with the analysis that state
the irrationality of Marginalism of John Bates Clark. Clark was a neoclassical economist who was
denying the pro of capitalist but later shift to support it. Clarke s analysis on his opposition to the
Marginalism theory have three main arguments; people must take society into account, we cannot
calculate everything, and we don t know the value of everything so we can t calculate the value of
everything. Clarke s view on the Marginalist theory is that it basis upon formal rationality and purely
technical meaning that Marginalist presumably that people are rational and self interest and will

Clarke argue that this assumption of Marginalist is wrong, because human is social animal, when
people are placed in the society we tend to have difference decisions from living alone we are
influenced by others. So Clarke stated that people must take society into account, we need to care
about the society. My rebuttal on Clark s argument is that Clark is a one eye economist, he only
looked in what s the theory has said but he didn t look into how its imply. Clarke look into the theory
and he imply that the people s utility (happiness) is society this concept of society is the happiness of
people is only from Clarke s calculation not the society . In reality, what s the theory implied is that
whatever a person value as his own happiness, he has already taken into his account his value may not

The Purpose of Thornbury Castle Essay
The Purpose of Thornbury Castle Thornbury castle Since Thornbury castle started being built in 1511
it has been in the centre of a debate with historians whether it is a castle built for defence or a
luxurious palace for show. When I went to Thornbury castle you can see lots of different features that
would confuse you in deciding what Thornbury castle was built for. There are lots of different features
showing both. This picture shows some arrow slits. As you walk around the castle you see things like
arrow slits and gun loops in the walls showing they were probably built in case of an attack. Around

These two sources show that there was meant to have been a moat, this is also a way of protecting
castles from attack. The deep moat would have strengthened the defences of the gunports and the

army barracks for the purpose of retaining men, on the ground floor it was meant to be stables and on
the floors above reached by wooden staircases, were living quarters for the hired army its hard to say
how many men Buckingham would have had it might have been hundreds or possibly a thousand,
with which Buckingham intended to assert his independence and viewed of fortifying himself against
the king. Under Henry the VIII no one was meant to own their own army but why was Edward
Stafford building room for so many people? Then in the outer court there is a wide open space which
may have been meant to for a training ground for his army. These pictures show the old soldiers

The Effects Of Mass Shootings
Murder, robbery, human trafficking, rape, kidnapping. The commonality between these crimes are the
perpetrators with immoral intentions to do harm. Recently, the Texan city of Sutherland Springs
suffered through a terrifying mass shooting at the First Baptist Church, resulting in numerous deaths
of innocent church goers. With the Las Vegas mass shooting occurring not too long before this tragic
incident, fear strikes into the hearts of Americans and demands against gun control are being made.
The question becomes, though, what should be done in response to this kind of evil that has been
committed? Two articles, In the Face of Evil, Prayer is the Most Rational and Effective Response by
David French and Can Government Solve the Evil of Mass Shootings? A Response to Mollie
Hemingway by Daniel Schultz, go at opposite ends with issue here. The Texas church shooting in
accordance with the articles present the idea of God s omnipotence as the solution to the problem of
evil, in relation to Augustine s Evil is the Privation of Good and the Book of Job, which incorporate
the significance of evil. This particular article takes on sort of an optimistic and religious viewpoint in
regards to the aftermath of the church shooting. The article In the Face of Evil, Prayer is the Most
Rational and Effective Response by David French explains how prayer, as mentioned in the title, is the
one method that can be utilized in response to an event like this. French explains that a time

Defense Lawyer Essay
If you re in trouble with the law, your knee jerk inclination might be to hire the first criminal defense
lawyer you can find in a telephone book. Depending on the severity of the crime and your personal
background, the need to find a lawyer and do it fast could absolutely be present. But, going with just
anyone is not the best way to hire a criminal defense lawyer. It s important to make sure you hire
someone who is not only competent, but also a person you can and will work with. A good defense
lawyer will want your case to be handled as a team effort. He or she will need to rely on input from
you as much as possible. He or she will also need to be able to develop a good rapport with you to

criminal defense lawyer for your case even if it s the best lawyer in the state. * Has a good track

lawyer should be versed in the kind of case that you re facing. A homicide expert might not be the
lawyer to bring in to defend a robbery or DUI. * Has trial experience if you think the case will go that
far. * Trust you. This, too, is important. If you get the feeling the criminal defense lawyer doesn t trust
you, it could be very difficult for the person to give you a solid defense even if he or she really tries.
When their heart isn t in it, it s your future that could be on the line. While it s impossible to tell
everything about a potential criminal defense lawyer in a single meeting, you should be able to at least

The Trial Of The White House
On August 6, Lewinsky appeared before the grand jury to begin her testimony, and on August 17
President Clinton testified. Contrary to his testimony in the Paula Jones sexual harassment case,
President Clinton acknowledged to prosecutors from the office of the independent counsel that he had
had an extramarital affair with Ms. Lewinsky. In four hours of closed door testimony, conducted in the
Map Room of the White House, Clinton spoke live via closed circuit television to a grand jury in a
nearby federal courthouse. He was the first sitting president ever to testify before a grand jury
investigating his conduct. That evening, President Clinton also gave a four minute televised address to
the nation in which he admitted he had engaged in an inappropriate relationship with Lewinsky. In the
brief speech, which was wrought with legalisms, the word sex was never spoken, and the word regret
was used only in reference to his admission that he misled the public and his family. Five weeks later,
on February 12, the Senate voted on whether to remove Clinton from office. The president was
acquitted on both articles of impeachment. The prosecution needed a two thirds majority to convict
but failed to achieve even a bare majority. Rejecting the first charge of perjury, 45 Democrats and 10
Republicans voted not guilty, and on the charge of obstruction of justice the Senate was split 50 50.
After the trial concluded, President Clinton said he was profoundly sorry for the burden

The Effect Of Fracking On The United States Economy And...
Greed is a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without
ever reaching satisfaction (Erich Fromm).
Introduction
Fracking is a complex political topic; nonetheless, fracking is showing a positive impact on the United
States economy and leaving a harmful footprint behind the environment. In addition, consumers are
experiencing a significant amount of savings due to the overwhelming supplies of oil; thus, the
revolution in new technology is triggering an improper fracking system that contributes to airborne
pollution and water contamination. Higher authorities should implement the concepts of sustainability
and ethical views of large corporations and businesses to protect the consumer s safety.
Political Views
Oil suppliers dig deep down to the roots to analyze and derive concrete solutions to carry on the rising
market. The force of fracking in the United States is lifting the economy; the system has been a
political game changer for the nation, creating job opportunities and investing money into the
community. The United States is currently capable of competing with the global marketplaces at a
high rate. This coordination leads to knowledge for on shoring manufacturing, which eliminates the
dependency on foreign oil. This significant groundwork is driving opportunities for innovators. The
abundant supply of oil and the inexpensive cost leads to cheaper energy for consumers (Dews, 2015).

It is highly recommended for sand mining to discontinue in North Stradbroke Island to maintain and

Queensland s gross state product (GSP). The industry indirectly contributes an additional $12.4 billion

Access Of Nuclear Power Facilities
Access to nuclear power facilities was tightly controlled, yet nonetheless in the wake of 9/11 the
potential for sabotage was intensely debated. In a January 2002 speech, Chairman Meserve maintained
that sabotage prevention had been an important part of the NRC s regulatory activities and our
licensees responsibilities... for decades... And it has been augmented since September 11 (Meserve,
2002a, p. 1). Yet scarcely three months before, a nuclear plant in Michigan discovered that a
contractor employee who had been given unescorted access permission to protected areas of the plant
had been dismissed from a former employer for using illegal drugs (Korte, 2001, p. 3). Two weeks
before Meserve s speech, a report was filed to the NRC that a Perry Nuclear Power Plant contractor
employee had obtained unescorted access to the plant after deliberately lying about his criminal
history (Pederson, 2002, p. 1). While his words to the National Press Club were brave enough,
Meserve clearly understood the problems he faced; he had no qualms with telling Tom Ridge a year
after 9/11 that, enhancing access control may be one of the most effective means of preventing a
successful attack, because an insider could provide significant assistance to an attacking force
(Meserve, 2002c, p. 1). The National Nuclear Security Administration agreed with Meserve, asserting
that, almost all known cases of theft of nuclear material involved an insider. The threat of a nuclear
facility insider, either

The Writer s First Line Generator Summary
The Writer s First Line Generator is a website that has some computer generated assistance if you are
writing. This week wordpress has been encouraging a daily post of flash fiction and it helped me
identify a direction I could take to write my flash fiction post of two days ago.
However, yesterday I went back to the site to see if I could mine it more for inspiration. It suggested
an introduction very, very similar to my post of the twenty fifth. This is what it had for me:
The afternoon when my brother murdered his wife, I became a millionaire s tailor.
I was unhappy that what seemed promising to get some flash fiction rolling was quickly becoming
redundant.
Frankly, this sentence seems a little strange; it was refreshing to have a jump off point two days ago
for flash fiction, but the same general composition would likely result if I went from there. However,
tonight, I m thinking about it, and suddenly I realize I can go to the Content Creation Tool below.

a mogul might have more of an impact than the life of a tailor, in fiction that tailor may be more
clearly defined as the protagonist and therefore of greater relevance to the story going forward from
the introduction suggested by the Writer s Line Generator. A reader could well be moved more by
circumstances in the life of a tailor if the reader is involved in the

In these organizations, managers rely on instant information to deliver mass customized products and

Sacrifice In Julia Alvarez s In The Time Of The Butterflies
A Call to Sacrifice
Julia Alvarez s In the Time of the Butterflies, fictionalizes the real life story of the four Mirabal sisters:
Patria, Maria Teresa, Minerva, and Dedé. Dominican dictator, Trujillo, has Patria, Minerva, and Maria
Teresa killed for their participation in the revolution. Though not all of the sisters gave their life, each
of them sacrificed a great deal. Throughout the novel, all four sisters heard the call to motherhood.
This call to motherhood is not the only call heard by the Mirabal sisters, however, along with this call
to motherhood, each sister is also called to sacrifice. For each sister, this call to sacrifice is answered
in a different way.
Early in her life, Dedé s father predicts that she will be a survivor: She ll bury us all, her father adds,

The Contribution of the Labelling Theory to Our...
The Contribution of the Labelling Theory to Our Understanding of Crime and Deviancy
We can call a label, or define it as; a mark, name, or even badge.
Something is only deviant, or becomes deviant because someone has been successful in labelling it as,
deviancy is ambiguous, definitions differ from society to society or even culture to culture.
Calling something deviant is a reaction to a type of behaviour.
The labelling theory is very complex, it asks why some people committing crimes are named deviant
but others are not.
Labelling theorists believe when you label offenders as criminals, yobs, this has negative
consequences, deepening and worsening the criminal behaviour.
There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A strength of labelling theory approach to deviance is that it not only concentrates on the social
reaction to deviance committed by individuals, as well as concentrating on the interaction processes
leading to the labelling, these being two important elements of the theory.
The effects on the Individual of labelling are especially important.
Having being labelled, as a deviant, the individual according to Becker, then will accept the label, and
for example turn to the life of crime, possibly with the help of a deviant subculture, feeling they have
no other alternative.
The last part of the labelling theory is, deviant career , this being when the labelled criminal evolves
into a complete, absolute deviant.
Kai T Erikson (1966) also highlights the way social reaction affects the individual, he supports and
reinforces what Becker suggests, he further suggests that deviance in a society is essential, and is
beneficial for creating a boundary between good and evil.
Furthermore there are a number of policy implications to do with the labelling theory, a vast majority
of them are impractical, such as the emphasis on rehabilitation, in helping the offenders be
rehabilitated from the label, although negatively some will not agree to participate in this.
Another implication is that criminal law

Examples Of Racism In The Movie Crash
The 2004 film: Crash , featured actors such as; Sandra Bullock, Matt Dillon, and Terrence Howard. A
quote from Simon Braund with the website Empire, that specialises in movie reviews; A haunting,
perceptive and uncompromising examination of controversial subject matter... (Braund). I personally,
was left in tears and had an overflow of emotions by the time the film ended. Crash , had many
examples of stereotyping, prejudice and discrimination, that live in our societies today; and the
struggles that come along with them. To begin, one thing I immediately noticed about this film; was
the amount of social constructs that were shown. When taking notes, it felt like my penil never left the
paper as I wrote down all the things I saw. The amount of racism that is present is just overwhelming.
The first example of this shown in the movie, was when Farhad, and his Daughter Dorri, who are both
Persian; are attempting to purchase a handgun. The shopkeeper becomes frustrated when they begin to
speak in a foreign language. He then refuses to let Farhad buy a gun, gets extremely loud and forces
him out of the store. Also very plentiful in the film; stereotyping. Within the first five minutes, there
was already a dispute; between Ria, who is a Latina woman and an Asian woman who was unnamed.
The Asian woman had just rear ended Ria, and she began to make remarks about how Mexican
women can t drive. This was very offensive as to define Ria by her race, but also because she is not

My most epic crash happened on August 12th 2015. It was a partly cloudy day with a little bit of

We found a nice long steep hill on hillside road. The asphalt there was fairly smooth especially for
Westfield. We didn t look at the road in to much depth and decided to just bomb it. We started rolling
off at the top of the hill and pushing off to get more speed. We went off in a line. A was the second
one. We were at about half hill and the road started to get bumpy and FAST. i saw the person in front

Case 1(Ruggiero 173). We have the debate and Supreme Court ruling in 2002 that stated the ban on
virtual child pornography was unconstitutional, and in turn, The Federal Child Pornography
Prevention Act was overturned. The parties involved are the disgusting, scum of the earth who
produce this ungodly entertainment for sick minded pedophiles, the US Supreme Court who have
taken an oath to protect the innocent, and the putrid pedophiles who watch this abomination of god
and all that is evil. In addition to every child that ever was, and every child that will be sexually

because they were sexually abused. (Emphasis intentionally and harshly added) The morals are, sex
with children is immoral, an abomination to God s teachings, watching the same, even if only graphics
is still a grave sin. If you think of doing sin, it is as bad as the sin itself. Therefore, watching a cartoon
of a child being abused and having sexual gratification in that act, is as bad as one who actually
commits the act. You heard it was said, Do not commit adultery, but I say to you that everyone who

  • 2. Essay about Iago Of Othello Iago of Othello What makes a good villain? What qualities make one villain stand out from another? Is it their demeanor, ruthlessness, or the methods that they employ to accomplish their tasks? In any case, a great villain must leave the reader with a respect for their methods and a question about their motives. In Shakespeare s Othello, there is one character in Iago that fulfills all of these qualifications. Iago is a wonderful villain because he gains other s trust, relentlessly takes advantage of his peers flaws, and unapologetically causes the deaths of his counterparts in order to achieve his goals. The main weapon Iago used in his villainy was trust. Iago knew how to play to each character s personality to get them to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aside from being Othello s right hand man throughout a majority of the play, he also has a level of comfort with Cassio. This comfort is shown in his willingness to talk about Desdemona when the two are on night patrol. This reliance was something Iago exploited each time he had a chance. Every time a desire was expressed, Iago was there with a solution that always benefited Iago in the end. For instance, it was Iago that suggested to Roderigo that he attempt to kill Cassio in order to get Desdemona to be interested in him. It was also Iago s work in stoking up the fires of revenge in Othello s belly regarding the affair between Desdemona and Cassio. For each situation, every word that was said was for the advancement of Iago and the destruction of all others. Iago also acts as a contributor to each character s flaws in the play. For example, in act two, Iago influences Cassio to have some drinks in order to start a quarrel between Cassio and Roderigo. In another example, in act three, Iago gets Othello to believe that there is an affair between Desdemona and Cassio by building on the suspicions and doubts that Othello had before Iago even spoke to him. Finally, as the smoking gun that Othello was looking for, Iago presents the handkerchief to Othello along with a fabricated story about it s whereabouts. These actions contribute to the eventual demise of all of these characters, but it also leads to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Health And Illness Of Healthcare Healthcare is provided by a number of different professionals to achieve the restoration of a balance between all factors of a person s life when faced with disease, illness, injury, childbirth and surgery. The main health care professionals that are required are doctors nurses, midwives and paramedical personnel. This multidisciplinary team approach to health care brings a number of benefits to the patient and many systems and processes are in place to achieve a high standard of patient outcomes. Positive relationship between patients and the healthcare providers promotes patient centered care and enhances outcomes. (Dwamena et al,.2012; Laine Davidoff, 1996). Healthcare professionals build a strong network of providing healthcare driven programming, leadership initiatives to address the ongoing challenges of providing better healthcare. Health and illness lie on a continuum for all individuals from birth through to death. Humans are very well organized but we rely heavily on all our systems integrating smoothly and without problems. However when a person s internal balance changes with one system not functioning well then a flow on of problems to other systems may occur with it including physically, psychologically and socially. Over time other disciplines began to emerge especially as technologies expanded and it was recognized that people often needed health services other than physical care in order to maintain wellness. Once a refugee goes through an application process and is approved to be resettled in the United States, the official process of resettlement can begin. How does the United States fund refugee resettlement? Are the allocated funds being used in an effective way that allow for long term success of individuals who have been resettled? These or common questions and concerns regarding US refugee resettlement. This evaluation seeks to expose the reality of the financial and funding process involved in the resettlement of refugees in the United States and explore ways in which it could potentially be improved upon. • 5. Riot Grrrl Sociology These three readings offer some insight into how music is not only used as a means of entertainment, but in other ways such as self expression and as a voice for the audience. In Julia Downes s journal article (The expansion of punk rock: Riot Grrrl challenges to gender power relations in British indie music subcultures) she discusses and explores how the punk feminist movement, Riot grrrl, provoked young woman and girls to stand up and rebel against the norm of culture, such as how punk was a male dominated genre. Hector Qirko agrees with this thesis as in his article, (Consumer authentication of popilar music in the global postmodern), he explores how music gains an identity through social means. Gillian Mitchell in his journal article (From ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ways in which music is categorized is by several aspects of the music and social characteristics such as, the technical aspects i.e. (Instrumentation, sound, vocal style, song structure, time signature) Behavioral aspects (outfits what short of fashion people that play the music and people that listen to the music adopt, how the artist s and the people that listen to the music act.) social and ideological rules (Stereotypes, the kid of people that listen to the music e.g. old people, young people). (Franco Fabbri and Iain Chambers 1982) These aspects help to determine how music is categorized in: record stores, radio stations, and through global events such as the Grammys or large genre specific concerts. Qirko studied this by looking at other people s works such as Machado and Frith and considered their opinions, by considering their opinions it meant that he could back up his clams and thoughts with supporting statements by others. He also looked at testing done by McLeod s and Taylor, to see how consumers react to recordings of Cuban based music and then analyzed them thematically. Theses test concluded the different ways that consumers identified the category that the music came from, in this case many of the consumers considered factors such as the Cuban ... • 6. A Summary Of Jesus And The Lamentation Of Christ Today I will be comparing these two late Medieval Italian paintings which have a story that arranged throughout the chapel, both paintings show Mary saying goodbye to her late son, Jesus. Looking at the painting Lamentation of Christ (Duccio) you can notice that the background is a golden tone with a mountain displayed in The Mourning of Christ (Giotto) you can notice the background is a bright blue not a golden tone, you can notice a difference in the sky that makes you wonder whether it was day or night. The most basic difference probably lies in the area ten angels flying around in the sky in the Mourning of Christ (Giotto) painting which the Lamentation of Christ (Duccio) painting fails to show any angels failing to give a fantasy theme to the painting. As you glance at both the Mourning of Christ (Giotto) and the Lamentation of Christ (Duccio) painting you can also notice that in the Mourning of Christ (Giotto) painting Jesus and his Seven disciples all have halos around their head which is merely a round flat plated halo behind their heads. The focus in the Lamentation of Christ (Duccio) are on both Jesus and his Disciples, those who are closest to him while in the Giotto painting the focus is on the left side of the canvas and being focused on the center of the canvas showing not only the disciples and the audience of Jesus s death. In the Giotto painting they depict the importance of disciples and those closer Jesus with halos. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Julius Caesar Essay Caius Julius Caesar remains one of the most famous Romans to have ever lived. As well as being a brilliant politician and a military genius, Caesar also had his way with women. He had a few affairs with some very beautiful and interesting women, with whom he used for political gains as well as being lovers with. With his charismatic leadership and ambition, Caesar s rise to power came rather quickly, and he ultimately became the dictator of the Roman Empire. Caesar is a very interesting man to study about and his accomplishments are still referenced till this day. He caught the attention of Shakespeare and Shaw, their plays may be exaggerated for a more dramatic effect from the events that probably occurred, but regardless, most people have heard of Julius Caesar and know he was a man of great accomplishments. Julius Caesar was born into a patrician family in a republic, on Quincitilis, which would later be replaced by Julius in the Julian calendar in honor of Caesar during his reign. Moonlight Reflection In the movie Moonlight, written and directed by Berry Jenkins, follows an introverted black boy named Chiron through three pivotal stages in his life as he struggles to come to term with his sexuality. What made it even harder for Chiron was living in a drug infested, poverty stricken environment filled with people who constantly remind him that he is different. Throughout the three stories Chiron gets bullied through his childhood and high school years, causing him to eventually snap into what his society wanted him to be. In the opening scene of Part One, Chiron s childhood, there s a shot of little Chiron running as fast as he can away from a group of boys who are chasing him through a field calling him a faggot. This really shows that the boys that were chasing him think that it is not okay that Chiron is different compared to them. After being chased into an abandoned apartment Chiron is introduced to Juan who eventually becomes somewhat of a role model for Chiron. The reason Juan becomes such a role model is because he is the perfect example of how masculine a man should be. Little gets picked on every day by almost everyone at his school except for his friend Kevin, who thinks that Chiron is too soft and tries to toughen him up. The fact that Kevin, the one person who does not bully him still tells Chiron that he needs to become tougher. This just shows how deeply rooted in Chiron s society that every man should be tough. • 31. Access Of Nuclear Power Facilities Access to nuclear power facilities was tightly controlled, yet nonetheless in the wake of 9/11 the potential for sabotage was intensely debated. In a January 2002 speech, Chairman Meserve maintained that sabotage prevention had been an important part of the NRC s regulatory activities and our licensees responsibilities... for decades... And it has been augmented since September 11 (Meserve, 2002a, p. 1). Yet scarcely three months before, a nuclear plant in Michigan discovered that a contractor employee who had been given unescorted access permission to protected areas of the plant had been dismissed from a former employer for using illegal drugs (Korte, 2001, p. 3). Two weeks before Meserve s speech, a report was filed to the NRC that a Perry Nuclear Power Plant contractor employee had obtained unescorted access to the plant after deliberately lying about his criminal history (Pederson, 2002, p. 1). While his words to the National Press Club were brave enough, Meserve clearly understood the problems he faced; he had no qualms with telling Tom Ridge a year after 9/11 that, enhancing access control may be one of the most effective means of preventing a successful attack, because an insider could provide significant assistance to an attacking force (Meserve, 2002c, p. 1). The National Nuclear Security Administration agreed with Meserve, asserting that, almost all known cases of theft of nuclear material involved an insider. The threat of a nuclear facility insider, either ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. The Writer s First Line Generator Summary The Writer s First Line Generator is a website that has some computer generated assistance if you are writing. This week wordpress has been encouraging a daily post of flash fiction and it helped me identify a direction I could take to write my flash fiction post of two days ago. However, yesterday I went back to the site to see if I could mine it more for inspiration. It suggested an introduction very, very similar to my post of the twenty fifth. This is what it had for me: The afternoon when my brother murdered his wife, I became a millionaire s tailor. I was unhappy that what seemed promising to get some flash fiction rolling was quickly becoming redundant. Frankly, this sentence seems a little strange; it was refreshing to have a jump off point two days ago for flash fiction, but the same general composition would likely result if I went from there. However, tonight, I m thinking about it, and suddenly I realize I can go to the Content Creation Tool below. Basically, Spinbot alters a composition so that a substantial numbers of words among the whole of the piece are turned into different words. The result is amusing, somewhat ... The mogul s behaviour is less important overall than the tailor s behaviour, because the story is that of events in the tailor s life as they relate to he or she (and entertain the reader). Whereas in reality a mogul might have more of an impact than the life of a tailor, in fiction that tailor may be more clearly defined as the protagonist and therefore of greater relevance to the story going forward from the introduction suggested by the Writer s Line Generator. In these organizations, managers rely on instant information to deliver mass customized products and services uniquely suited to the targeted markets. The decentralized structure allows the managers to persuade informal commitments and networks to establish goals. In these kinds of organizations, managers appeal to the knowledge, learning, and decision making of individual employees to ensure proper operation of the firm. Once again, Information technology can perform these activities in the best manner. High usage of Internet since the mid 1990s caused significant organizational redesign and has contributed the emergence of new phenomenon Digital Firm. This is the fourth factor of environmental change which forced companies to introduce new information technology, and can be described as the firm where the most processes are enabled digitally, as well as relationship with customers, employees and suppliers. This is flattened organization where, any information required could be gained any time, anywhere in the firm. The level of technology in such firm enables the managers to sense and respond to its customers far more rapidly. For such managers, Information is not a simple handmaiden, but rather it is the core of the business and primary management tool. Sacrifice In Julia Alvarez s In The Time Of The Butterflies A Call to Sacrifice Julia Alvarez s In the Time of the Butterflies, fictionalizes the real life story of the four Mirabal sisters: Patria, Maria Teresa, Minerva, and Dedé. Dominican dictator, Trujillo, has Patria, Minerva, and Maria Teresa killed for their participation in the revolution. Though not all of the sisters gave their life, each of them sacrificed a great deal. Throughout the novel, all four sisters heard the call to motherhood. This call to motherhood is not the only call heard by the Mirabal sisters, however, along with this call to motherhood, each sister is also called to sacrifice. For each sister, this call to sacrifice is answered in a different way. Early in her life, Dedé s father predicts that she will be a survivor: She ll bury us all, her father adds, laughing, in silk and pearls (Alvarez, 8). In jest, Dedé s father foreshadows the ultimate result of Dedé s firm and practical nature. Dedé is not a pushover, she can stand her ground. This practical nature is what keeps her from joining the revolution, and what ultimately saves her life. That is not to say that it is easy for Dedé to ignore the call of the ... The Contribution of the Labelling Theory to Our Understanding of Crime and Deviancy We can call a label, or define it as; a mark, name, or even badge. Something is only deviant, or becomes deviant because someone has been successful in labelling it as, deviancy is ambiguous, definitions differ from society to society or even culture to culture. Calling something deviant is a reaction to a type of behaviour. The labelling theory is very complex, it asks why some people committing crimes are named deviant but others are not. Labelling theorists believe when you label offenders as criminals, yobs, this has negative consequences, deepening and worsening the criminal behaviour. There are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A strength of labelling theory approach to deviance is that it not only concentrates on the social reaction to deviance committed by individuals, as well as concentrating on the interaction processes leading to the labelling, these being two important elements of the theory. The effects on the Individual of labelling are especially important. Having being labelled, as a deviant, the individual according to Becker, then will accept the label, and for example turn to the life of crime, possibly with the help of a deviant subculture, feeling they have no other alternative. The last part of the labelling theory is, deviant career , this being when the labelled criminal evolves into a complete, absolute deviant. Kai T Erikson (1966) also highlights the way social reaction affects the individual, he supports and reinforces what Becker suggests, he further suggests that deviance in a society is essential, and is beneficial for creating a boundary between good and evil. Furthermore there are a number of policy implications to do with the labelling theory, a vast majority of them are impractical, such as the emphasis on rehabilitation, in helping the offenders be rehabilitated from the label, although negatively some will not agree to participate in this. Another implication is that criminal law

A quote from Simon Braund with the website Empire, that specialises in movie reviews; A haunting, perceptive and uncompromising examination of controversial subject matter... (Braund). I personally, was left in tears and had an overflow of emotions by the time the film ended. Crash , had many examples of stereotyping, prejudice and discrimination, that live in our societies today; and the struggles that come along with them. To begin, one thing I immediately noticed about this film; was the amount of social constructs that were shown. When taking notes, it felt like my penil never left the paper as I wrote down all the things I saw. The amount of racism that is present is just overwhelming. The first example of this shown in the movie, was when Farhad, and his Daughter Dorri, who are both Persian; are attempting to purchase a handgun. The shopkeeper becomes frustrated when they begin to speak in a foreign language. He then refuses to let Farhad buy a gun, gets extremely loud and forces him out of the store. Also very plentiful in the film; stereotyping. Within the first five minutes, there was already a dispute; between Ria, who is a Latina woman and an Asian woman who was unnamed. The Asian woman had just rear ended Ria, and she began to make remarks about how Mexican women can t drive. This was very offensive as to define Ria by her race, but also because she is not ... My most memorable story with longboarding is when i fell of my longboard. Now for anyone that doesnt know, a longboard is a stateboard with wider and larger wheels. It also has a longer deck and more flexible. My most epic crash happened on August 12th 2015. It was a partly cloudy day with a little bit of downhill wind. I went longboarding with 3 of my very close friends. We started at Stanley park and then just started talking at topographic maps to see where there was a hill we could longboard down. We found a nice long steep hill on hillside road. The asphalt there was fairly smooth especially for Westfield. We didn t look at the road in to much depth and decided to just bomb it. We started rolling off at the top of the hill and pushing off to get more speed. We went off in a line. A was the second one. We were at about half hill and the road started to get bumpy and FAST. i saw the person in front of me getting speed wobbles so i steered left of him to clear him if he fell. But i didn t account the speed factor and the bad part of the road was coming up. I hit the bad asphalt and my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 39. The Debate On Virtual Child Pornography Lindsay Hall Thinking and Doing Ethics Professor Wisniewski November December 8, 2015 Word count 849 Case 1(Ruggiero 173). We have the debate and Supreme Court ruling in 2002 that stated the ban on virtual child pornography was unconstitutional, and in turn, The Federal Child Pornography Prevention Act was overturned. The parties involved are the disgusting, scum of the earth who produce this ungodly entertainment for sick minded pedophiles, the US Supreme Court who have taken an oath to protect the innocent, and the putrid pedophiles who watch this abomination of god and all that is evil. In addition to every child that ever was, and every child that will be sexually abused in the future because some sick f!*k gets his/her jollies off by watching children being tortured, and will at some point in time inflict the lifelong pain and suffering that one goes through, because they were sexually abused. (Emphasis intentionally and harshly added) The morals are, sex with children is immoral, an abomination to God s teachings, watching the same, even if only graphics is still a grave sin. If you think of doing sin, it is as bad as the sin itself. Therefore, watching a cartoon of a child being abused and having sexual gratification in that act, is as bad as one who actually commits the act. You heard it was said, Do not commit adultery, but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman in order to covet her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. (Matthew ...
