2. Fahrenheit 451 Rhetorical Analysis Essay
Introduction
Former President of South Africa and philanthropist Nelson Mandela once said:
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. In
Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit 451, firemen don t put out fires; they start them. This
novel is about a fireman named Montag who realizes setting houses and books on
fire is not only wrong, but it s the total opposite of what the firemen should be doing.
A certain encounter with a character starts a chain reaction in Montag to change the
way things are around his city. Through trials and tribulations, Montag finds a group
of people who will help him give the people back their knowledge. The prominent
themes in this book, along with rhetorical devices, are helpful to connect the
characters lives to the reader s. This being said, the content of Fahrenheit 451 is why
the novel is so popular.
Rhetorical Analysis
With the use of asyndeton, polysyndeton, and fragments, Bradbury makes the reader
feel as if he or she is Montag struggling throughout parts of the book. For instance,
when describing the sounds he heard in the dark from his overdosed wife, Montag
narrates that the breath coming out the nostrils was so faint it stirred only the farthest

Bradbury writes that We all made the right kind of mistakes, or we wouldn t be
here. When we were separate individuals, all we had was rage (Bradbury 150). This
quote proves the natural violence in people. Furthermore, Montag tries to escape the
firemen and hound s grasps. The quote And then he was a shrieking blaze, a
jumping, a sprawling gibbering mannikin, no longer human or known, all writhing
flame on the lawn as Montag shot one continuous pulse of liquid fire on him
(Bradbury 119) is evidence that Montag used violence as anger to kill the hound and

3. Similarities Between The Wars Of European Religion
The Wars of Religion were a series of conflicts in Europe due to the spread of
Protestantism. These conflicts were due in particular, to the intense resentment of
Protestantism as a religion and a fear of providing freedom of religion. These
conflicts were very violent and were cause for a lot of change religiously in Europe.
Although the Wars were very different throughout the various countries in Europe,
there were also many similarities and I will explore these in this essay. The primary
similarity between the Wars of Religionin Europe was the presence of a final
compromise to end the conflict. However the main theme was that one group was
always excluded from the compromise. For example, Lynn Hunt stated, ... he[Henry

4. Ego Vs God Essay
Ego vs. God
During my growing up years, from the time I was 3 or 4, I attended church with my
parents. Sunday school taught me all the bible stories and when I was 12, I went to
confirmation for two years. I was confirmed in eighth grade and continued to attend
church regularly until two years ago.
Beginning two years ago, I had come to the realization that I had a great deal of
apathy about my religious beliefs. It probably started with my lack of participation
in church and in Sunday school. I found myself only going to church to end up
falling asleep or being bored out of my mind. Sunday school was no better. All I
would do is play around with my friends and learn absolutely nothing. Soon after, I

for events to happen this way, but now I could not understand why. Another reason
for my confusion would be my thought of the buddy buddy Jesus.
A term that I learned in my junior year from Mr. Donahue was being buddy buddy
with Jesus. This meant that in times of crisis and need, you would run to Him and
ask for His help and be with Him until the crisis or situation was over. It seemed
that I was becoming that way and I never knew it. It all started when my mom was
diagnosed with terminal cancer. I would find myself praying to God each and
every night for a good twenty minutes praying that she would be back on her feet

she is well and healthy and she is back to her normal self. I thanked God that she
was still alive and then forgot my need for God. Then it was sometime before
another crisis occurred and I would go back to God. This time it was my father s

telling me that my dad was in the hospital. Again, I would become buddy buddy with
God and prayed that the event would have a happy ending. After his heart attack,

5. Judicial Misconduct Essay
Founders of the United States of America believed in providing the people of this
great nation with a fair, and impartial judicial system. The basic rights of the people,
which are listed in the Bill of Rights, needed to be respected and protected by the
government. Abraham Lincoln once said Government of the people, by the people,
for the people, shall not perish from the Earth . Every part of the United States
government has a duty to protect the people that gave the government power, and one
organization in particular plays a very large role in this charge. The Judicial System
of the United States America is a complex organization constructed to uphold the
authority of the Constitution, and federal law. The judges within the... Show more

The primary functions of lower courts consist of processing minor offenses but these
courts will sometimes process felonies as well, without sentencing the defendant.
Major trial courts take the processed felony cases and complete them; in major
courts the defendants who are charged with felony crimes mainly enter a plea of
guilty or not guilty, which then leads to a trial (Neubauer, 2010). The second
component of our dual court system consists of appellate courts. In the U.S. judicial
system, a defendant found guilty in a trial court can normally appeal to a higher
federal court. These federal courts, or appellate courts, review decisions made by
trial courts (Neubauer, 2010). Appellate courts can be on the federal and state level,
but do not hold trials or hear new evidence. These courts consist of a judge, or a
lawyer, or a group of either one, who read the transcript of the trial and whether the
previous decision correctly or incorrectly followed the law (Neubauer, 2010). Similar
to trial courts, the federal government and most states have made two different types
of appellate courts: intermediate, which hear all cases, and supreme courts, which can
pick and choose the cases heard (Neubauer, 2010). Even though there are many
different types of courts within the judicial system of the United States, the role of
the judge stays constant throughout the majority of branches. Judges and their duties
in the courtroom are misunderstood, because of
6. Controlling Images of Black Womanhood
In Patricia Hill Collins Mammies, Matriarchs, and Other Controlling Images, she
illustrates four main stereotypes that Black women face. The first controlling image
applied to African American women is The Mammy. The mammy is the faithful,
obedient servant to the white family and the stereotype attempts to hide the fact that
black women who work for white families are being exploited. By loving and caring
for her white children more than her own, the mammy symbolizes the dominant
group s perceptions of the ideal black female relationship to elite white male power.
The smiling mammy signals her agreement with the situation, seemingly accepting
her subordination (Collins, 71). Next is the image of the Black matriarch (Collins,
73). According to the stereotype, they spend too much time away from home, are
overly aggressive and unfeminine, and allegedly emasculate their lovers and
husbands. This stereotype attempts to control conduct by punishing black women for
assertiveness and hides the oppression by making it seem that black women are
naturally this way (Collins, 74 75). The third controlling image of Black womanhood
is that of the welfare mother, which is linked to Black women s increasing
dependence on the welfare state (Collins, 76). This time, the punishment is for failing
to work. Rather than being a bad mother for deserting the children, now the concern is
being with the children too much and not working. Again, by pinpointing the Welfare
Mother as the cause,
7. Roman Weapons Research Paper
Since ancient times, weapons, armor and maneuverability have been a continual
growing dynamic in warfare. Armored units have invariably been a primary
weapon of war. Beginning in prehistoric times, sleds were used to move heavy
objects. Later on, in the ancient middle east, horse drawn carts were utilized to
transport weapons. Chariots later evolved from those carts. The most developed
horse pulled chariots were lightweight, two wheeled, chariots and armored. Most
chariots riders armed themselves with archers or spear men; this concept was also
used in the evolution of the modern day tank. These chariots and their operators
were the beginning of the what we know as the tank today(Tucker 1 2). During the
Roman period, protective armor was also developing. Siege engines, which include
battering rams, siege towers, and armored catapults were usually used when efforts
were made to take control of castles and/or fortified enemy positions. During the
Roman Imperial and Middle ages, these tank predecessors were protected by thick
wooden boards all around. In the times of knighthood, those engineering
maneuvering weapons added iron and lighter weight steel. This was partly in lue of
the more frequent use of the crossbow and longbow; arrows... Show more content on

Many blacksmiths and builders started intertwining guns and mobile vehicles. During
the fifteenth century the battle wagon was considered a state of the art weapon. The

There are two main battle wagons today s tanks resemble. The first was a defensive
vehicle constructed with protective sides and could house up to 18 men. The second
was smaller but armed with mounted cannons. Hundreds of these battlewagons were

8. Public Sphere
JГјrgen Habermas The Structural Transformation of the Public Sphere discusses his
analysis on publicity. The article is a historical sociological account of the rise,
change and breakdown of the public sphere. Even though publicity originated in the
18th century, it is still prevalent in today s society. Throughout the article, Habermas
discusses the vastness of the public sphere. Habermas states that the public sphere is a
sphere in which private people join together to form a public. Several important
concepts, arguments and themes are discussed throughout the article, the chief ones
being the distinction between private and public, structural transformation and
contemporary politics. One of the main questions that Habermas poses is whether...

The relationship between the two elements is vigorous and intricate. In his analysis,
Habermas traces public and private back to Ancient Greece and then onwards to the
Middle Ages, where separation existed, and present day. After the development of the
economy and the modern state, public and private adopted their present form. The
term public refers to public authority of the state, while private refers to the family,
society and the economy. Institutions and laws are the elements that differentiate the
two from each other. In modern society, there is a loss of discrepancy between public
and private. Instead, there is one societal multipart that exists, similar to that of the
one that existed in the Middle Ages. Habermas evaluates that the public sphere in its
traditional system no longer exists in today s society.
The main concept of Habermas piece is structural transformation. Structural
transformation is the progression by which the public sphere moves from being the
core of the rational critical debate to a degraded form of its prior self. Habermas
concludes that the transformation occurred due to changes in social, political and
economic structures of society. The primary structural change was the division
between public and
9. The Success Of The Club
In 2005, a shocking news hit the city of Manchester, home of the EPL s most
successful club with a history of more than a hundred years: Manchester United.
Their beloved club was to be acquired by an American business tycoon, Malcolm
Glazer. What concerned the fans even more was the fact that most of the capital used
by Glazer to purchase the team was debt and that he would load ВЈ525million of debt
on to the club itself. This was problematic because it meant that money otherwise
could be used to acquire top talents, improve training facilities, or towards the club s
CSR activities would be used to pay back Glazer s debt. The leveraged buyout of the
club was directly against the interests of the fans who are the most important
stakeholder.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ever since Glazer loaded the club with ВЈ525million debt, over ВЈ680million has
gone towards servicing the debt, including interest fees, bank charges, and debt
repayment as of May 2014. On the other hand, the club s spending on acquisition of
players during the same period was ВЈ382.9million while its rivals Manchester City
has spent ВЈ693.7million, Chelsea ВЈ600.2million, Tottenham ВЈ448.2million, and
Liverpool have splashed out a total of ВЈ443.75million. In other words, Man Utd
spent more on servicing Glazer s debt than it did on strengthening its squad. Although
Man Utd won five Premier League titles, three league cups, and a Champions League
under Glazer s ownership, underinvestment eventually led to aging squad and failure
to find suitable replacements. As a result, in 2013/2014 season, Man Utd finished the
season in 7th place, failing to qualify for the Champions League for the first time
since 1990/1991 season while its neighbor, Manchester City, won the title. While Man
Utd was suffering from severely deteriorated financial situation, Man City, under the
ownership of an Arabian prince, Sheikh Mansour, invested heavily not only to
acquiring top players, but also to building a new stadium, training facilities, and even
to the community by subway construction and new homes. Despite the fact that Man
Utd spent ВЈ152.3million in the transfer market this season, the investment does not
seem to be paying off yet as the team ranks fourth in the league as of

representative from the thirteen colonies came together to write The Constitution.
The supporters of ratifying the constitution were called Federalists and those against
ratifying it were called Anti Federalists. The Anti Federalists would argue with points
on why they were not on board to ratify the constitution, but the Federalists would
counter their points.

There are many compelling reasons to recycle, for instance, recycling saves energy,
benefits the economy, conserves resources, and is better for wildlife yet the
majority of Americans do not recycle. According to the Environmental Protection
Agency, only thirty eight percent of Americans profess to be avid recyclers. This is
an alarming statistic given that the average American generates 4.4 pounds of trash
a day. As a nation this country produces approximately 250 million tons of trash
every year. Only thirty five percent of the millions of tons of trash collected
annually in the United States is recycled. There are a myriad of reasons given by
those who do not recycle. For example, some Americans consider recycling

In addition, the recycling industry creates jobs since companies are needed to collect
and process the recycling. The U.S. Recycling Economic Information Study reports
almost 1.1 million people work in the more 56,000 recycling and re purposing
industries across the country. Recycling is beneficial for the environment in many
ways for example, it reduces the
Pollution caused by landfill, limits wildlife habitat destruction, and conserves
energy which saves natural resources. Landfills produce greenhouse gasses and
release toxic chemicals, therefore less trash in the landfill means less of these
harmful substance are released. Also, recycling decreases the need for raw
materials, which means less habitat destruction occurs and there is a reduction in
global warming. Creating new products from raw materials uses much more
energy than recycling an old product into something new does. Nationally,
approximately thirty eight percent of Americans recycle, which saves the country
1.5 quads of energy per year. Because one quad of energy equates to one quadrillion
or thousand trillion of bauxite that means a total savings of 1,5 % in national
yearly energy usage occurs. In 2010 for example, 85 million tons of solid waste was
recycled or composted which saved more than 1.3 quadrillion bauxite s worth of
energy, which is equal to 229 million barrels of oil.

Rational choice theory specifies that all individuals makes logical decisions. It states

that individuals don t care in know type of way about the crime that they have

committing these crimes. In this case, it provides the person that is committing the
crime with the greatest satisfaction, because they feel like what needed to be done

felt that she had to kill Travis so that he wouldn t communicate with no other females.
She felt this if she couldn t have him no one else could, and so she had to figure out a

In an interview with Chinua Achebe, a renowned professor of Language and

and the claim made by Achebe in his lecture, An Image of Africa: Racism in Conrad
s Heart of Darkness , that Conrad was a racist and his novella, Heart of Darkness, was
not an attack on imperialism, but rather, a philosophical analysis on the psyche of the
European mindas a result of colonization. Attempting to understand the reasons
Achebe claims Conrad is a racist, Phillips travels to Bard College, where Achebe
teaches, to discuss Achebe s viewpoints and reasons for his famous lecture. Two
main points are made relatively quickly: Conrad s obsession of the word nigger
and his descriptions of Africans when he first arrives in the Congo. Conrad,
according to Achebe, degrades and dehumanizes his African counterparts by only
describing their limbs and appendages, treating them as animals more so than
human; in the one instance where more description is given, he is out of place in
society. The natives are ugly, yet somehow not inhuman; the use of litotes creates
an inferior image of the people of the Congo. Some claim that because Heart of
Darkness is told by the perspective of Marlow, Conrad is not a racist, but simply
retelling a story and allows the reader to analyze the meaning behind it; Achebe
argues that the only reason for this distance is to remove the blame and accusations
upon Conrad for his views on

Rogers, I felt that my knowledge of stuttering and its impacts definitely expanded. It
was both revealing and somewhat heartbreaking to know that although school
psychologists don t work directly with kids who stutter, they can still notice the
impact that it has on the child. Choosing childhood onset fluency disorder for this
interview was mostly influenced by my own experience with someone who
stuttered as an adult. The person who stuttered was my high school science teacher
and I vividly remember the first time people heard him speak. Kids would secretly
tease him or interrupt him when he was speaking to speed up how long he was
taking to make a point. Although I know it probably affected him a lot more when he
was younger than it did then, I was still sensitive to his communication difficulties.
My high school teacher is who I would consider a stuttering success story because
of his accomplishments. He was always known to be very intelligent, but also he
was popular at his undergraduate institution. He was so popular that he had won
homecoming king and was a member of one of the prestigious African American
fraternities. I m sure that he experienced what a lot of people who stutter don t
have the chance to experience. However, I am still forced to reflect on what his
experiences as a young child must have been like in a rural town where most kids
didn t have an issue with

When you apart of this fandom discourse community it is way more than about just
representing the team you must know the knowledge to be credible, feel the
emotion and passion for your team whether they win or lose, and have the logic to
prove you are a fan of this team. These are all factors of why this discourse
community matters, they all prove how you apart of this community and how
people on the outside have come in. The biggest of them all is the everlasting
bonds and friendships you create through this community. These bonds can last
lifetimes just over the fact you guys share the same favorite team which is why
you should care about this discourse community. Being a part of this distinct
community related to fandoms of team, it is more than just cheering for the team
passionately, it involves knowing the team and showing that you are a true fan. To be
credible as a cowboy s fan and for people to believe you that you are a true cowboys
fan you have to at least have cowboys gear. True cowboys fan have at least a jersey to
represent your favorite player, or have cowboy decorations in your house like a flag
or a cowboy s towel. Anybody that is a fan of any type of team you would know
exactly what I mean because you have the gear for that team. So that is why being
a fan of the Dallas Cowboys matters because we all have a favorite team who we
represent in public, or in private. Another way to be credible is to know specific
facts about this team, for example if someone

Separation is a life threatening and it is extremely dangerous, especially if they are
joined at the head or share essential organ like the heart, because in many cases, the
results of the surgeries were death of one or both the twins (2). Ben Carson, an
American professor of neurosurgery, oncology and surgery, made a medical history

Both A Pair of Silk Stockings and The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin, were
written from a third person point of view, making the story less subjective and more
objective. As a result the reader is unable to put him or herself into the story. The
narrative structures of A Pair of Silk Stockings and The Story of an Hourdiffer in that
the setting, the time and overall story plots are completely different. There is one
similarity that sticks out, both protagonists are selfish. There is really strong
symbolism and imagery in both stories which puts the reader inside the story. The
narrativestructure of Chopin s A Pair of Silk Stockings indicates that the story takes
place in a big city, most likely New York or somewhere similar. This can be
assumed because Mrs. Sommers visits a department store, goes to a shoe

A long time ago crabs used to walk straight and forward. They lived in an oasis by a
desert. They were happy there, they had all that they needed, food, water, shelter

them so they would never have any problems under the oasis boundaries. He did
also say that danger lurks out of the perimeters, and to never go outside at night. The
crabs were happy with life and listened to him, because why not? They had all that

Diabetes can cause serious health complications like heart disease, blindness,
kidney failure, and in more serious cases lower extremity amputations (Eckel et al

exercise, the traditional forms for weight loss has been shown to not be very
effective. So, many persons with diabetes have resorted to surgically induced
weight loss (Buchwald et al). Although improvement in blood glucose control is
related to weight loss, a common problem compounded by diabetics is the
increased difficulty of losing weight, in comparison to a person without diabetes

The Comanches, exceptional horsemen who dominated the Southern Plains, played a
prominent role in Texas frontier history throughout much of the eighteenth and
nineteenth centuries. Anthropological evidence indicates that they were originally a
mountain tribe, a branch of the Northern Shoshones, who roamed the Great Basin
region of the western United States as crudely equipped hunters and gatherers. Both
cultural and linguistic similarities confirm the Comanches Shoshone origins. The
Comanche language is derived from the Uto Aztecan linguistic family and is virtually

the Southern Plains. They bartered buffalo products, horses, and captives for

SHELTER
The familiar Plains В– type teepee constructed of tan buffalo hide stretched over
sixteen to eighteen lodge poles provided portable shelter for the Comanches.
CLOTHING
Their clothing, made of Bison hide or Buckskin, consisted of breechcloth, leggings,

31. The Count Of Monte Cristo Analysis
The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexandre Dumas is an adventure and historical
fiction novel that encompasses forgiveness, power, and vengeance. The story
follows the adventure of Edmond DantГЁs, who dedicated the rest of his life to
getting vengeance on the men who crossed him. Critics Justin Kaplan and Bryan
Aubrey both explain their views on Dumas work, in great detail. Kaplan, in Treasure
and Vengeance, speaks of his own life, and connects it with Dumas work. Aubrey, in
his critical essay, on the other hand analyzes Dumas piece strictly based upon
Edmond s morality. In Treasure and Vengeance, Justin Kaplan speaks about The
Count of Monte Cristoin the highest regard. After a brief back story on himself, he
quickly transitions into connecting it with the book itself. Kaplan claims that in a
singular sense, [Edmond s] motive was disinterested: not the means to anything
else and with no purpose other than its own fulfillment (Kaplan). This is a key
aspect in Kaplan s criticism. He adds that his revenge, driven by the festering sense
of injustice is what drives Edmond throughout the story (Kaplan). The whole story
revolves around DantГЁs dire need to get revenge on Fernand, as well as others
who have crossed him. In fact, the Count himself says that for all evils there are
two remedies time and silence (Dumas 523). His sole mission is to retaliate against
Mondego, who was the cause of his wrongful conviction. He intends to get his
revenge for his own needs

Section Two: Key Dynamics and Players Involved
Upon arrival on February 27th, Yoav Galant, Minister of Construction, stressed the
utmost importance of eliminating the housing crisis in Israel. Galant offered the
proposal of Mordot Arnona where there would be 2000 new housing units that will
aid growing populations inside the new territory added to Jerusalem. (Powerpoint for
Ministry of Construction, February 27 Minutes) This suggestion worried the
Minister of Internal Security, Gilad Erdan, because of its capability to threaten the
security of Israel. Galant s reasoning behind this proposal is the expansion of
housing in Jerusalem. The neighborhood will allow for the continuation of growth
and development, providing for the housing demand. With this implemented, it will
strengthen Jerusalem as the capital. The lack of housing is one of the highest
concerns for Galant. On the basis of needing 250,000 houses due to a shortage of

which is as Evelyn Underhill put it, the direct intuition or experience of God
(Fanning, 2). Those who are identified as mystics in the Christian traditions claim to
have had a very intimate, direct connection to God.
This divine communion with God is claimed by mystics to be beyond words. It is
not something that can be described to anyone who has not experienced it. That
which we have heard it called, includes: divine possession , mystical marriage with
the deity , and mystical ecstasy (Fanning, 7 13). They feel to have become one with
God, and that they are God. They say that their way is the only way to properly
worship God.
Simply knowing of him is not enough; one must truly come to know him through
mystical experiences.
In order to achieve such a feeling, devotes must go through some personal growth
first. To
40. The Charter Of Rights And Freedoms
This essay will argue the reasons behind the notwithstanding clause remaining
within the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. In this paper, I will provide
reasons as to why the clause should be kept within the Charter beginning with the
arguments that it is an essential element in critical policy decisions being made by
politicians and it s hard to remove which requires the amending formula to be used
if changes are to be made. On the other side, its use in policy can create grave and
problematic judicial activism in the eyes of those who oppose it. In the next few
paragraphs, I will define my terms, introduce a brief history of the charter and the
notwithstanding clause and describe the positions from both sides regarding its use,...

The Charter was designed to bring together Canadians around an agreed upon set of
principles that embody and clearly define those rights. After being signed by Queen
Elizabeth II on April 17th, 1982 the Charter became law. The rights and freedoms
specified in the charter are listed under Section 24 and include; Fundamental
freedoms, democratic, mobility, legal, equality, language and minority language
education rights.
The notwithstanding clause written in article 33 of the Canadian Charter of Rights
and Freedoms has been an extremely contentious topic since its introduction at a
November 1981 Federal Provincial Conference of First Ministers of Canada. As said
by Jean Chretien, Minister of Justice The objective of an override [notwithstanding]
clause is to provide the flexibility that is required to ensure that legislatures rather
than judges have the final say on important matters of public policy (Grover, 2005,
p. [Page 479]). The clause allows Parliament or provincial governments to override
the following sections; 2, containing the fundamental rights and freedoms of
Canadians and sections 7 15 providing the right to life, liberty, security of person,
the right to equality and a number of other legal rights. One s guarantee of total
equality in all things can also be suspended. However, the clause cannot be applied to
any issues that relate to the democratic governmental system of Canada, our language
rights and the ability of our

INVESTIGATION: On 08 08 2016 at 0525 hours, I was notified by Detective M.
Carter # 181968, of a traffic crash fatality that occurred at the intersection of
Memorial Highway and Kelly Road. at 0451 hours. I responded to the crash scene
and upon arrival at approximately 0703 hours, I was assigned to forensically map
the scene. I also interviewed two witnesses to the crash, (name name) (See

42. One Of The Main Themes Of Hogwarts In Harry Potter
Home is where Hogwarts is. One of the main themes of Harry Potter is Home and
we all know the saying that home is where the heart is, and Harry s and everyone
who read the book or saw the movie, their heart is at Hogwarts. Hogwarts School
Of Witchcraft And Wizardry, is a school located in highlands of Scotland. Nobody
knows the precise location of the school because long time ago it was rendered
unplottable. The humans see the school as a castle which was abandoned. Other
schools like Beauxbatons Academy of Magic and the Durmstrang are also rendered
unplottable. Children with magic abilities will get a letter by the School via an owl
post when they re eleven years old. And if a child is human, a professor of Hogwarts
will come to inform the child s parents. Hogwarts moto is Draco Dormiens Nunquam
Titillanddus which means Never Tickle A Sleeping Dragon.

The castle has extensive lands such as Forbidden forest, a full size Quidditch field,
Black Lake, An Owlery for all students who own an owl and several greenhouses.
There are three highest towers in Hogwarts. Which are the Astronomy Tower, the
Ravenclaw Tower and the Gryffindor Tower. The school is also known for its many
changes in layout throughout the years, like regenerating itself after the Battle Of
Hogwarts.
Hogwarts has many charms and spells on and around it so no muggle can see it. No
electronic devices and electricity is found at the school.
Hogwarts School was founded by two witches and two wizards : Helga Hufflepuff,
Rowena Ravenclaw, Godric Gryffindor and Salazar Slytherin. Each of them
illustrated a bearing of personality that they wanted to bring out in new students.
Slytherin, shortly after founding the school had a fall out with the other founders
about blood purity, and wanted only the pure blood students to take admission.
Slytherin left the school but not before secretly building the Chambers Of

Marx first discussed his alienation theory in the Economic and Philosophic
Manuscripts of 1844[1], mainly talking about the types of human relations that are
not controlled by their participants and the consequent results. This theory represents
his research findings of bourgeois economics theory, which is central to all of Marx
s earlier philosophical writings and as a social phenomenon still informs his later
work.
Alienation means separation of people from things that naturally belong to them and
at the same time the natural belongings even in turn antagonize their supposed
owners. It results from the socially stratified society where workers are changed into
a mechanistic part and alienated from their humanity.
To Marx, there are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All the four alienation forms are the result of living in a capitalist society. As well
known, capitalists own the means of production and seek to maximize benefits. They
reduce workers to mechanistic parts, not persons and pay them wages rather than
the things or the value of the goods and services, which are produced with their
labor. As a result, workers are unable to determine the purpose of their actions and
directed to activities that are dictated by the capitalists, and finally lose the chance to
be an autonomous and self realised person. Besides, capitalists also extract the
maximal amount of surplus value from workers, leading them to alienate from others.
Therefore, under the capitalist system of industrial production, alienation of workers
is inevitable from aspects of their human nature.
Since capitalism means exploitation and alienation is the systematic result of living
in a capitalist society, alienation suggests the existence of exploitation, to some
extent. Capitalists exploit workers by limiting their power to determine the purpose
of their labor, paying them wages at the lowest possible rate and even the value
obtained from the workers labor would in turn diminish the ability of the workers to
materially survive. Thus the more the workers are exploited by
44. Review Of Divertimento Fanfare By Roger Zare
On October 5th, the Auburn University Chamber Winds and Symphonic Winds
performed a collection of pieces from different time periods including: The
Classical period, the 20th century period, and the Modern period. All of the pieces,
except for the last piece and the pieces that were not conducted, were conducted by
either Michael Cater, Zack Deininger, Ethan Lolley, or Meghan Miller, who are all
graduate conductors. The first piece performed, Divertimento Fanfare , was written
by Roger Zare. Zare is known for his contemporary chamber and orchestral work. His
musicis inspired by science nature, mathematics, and mythology. Zare uses word
painting to convey and contrast the two ideas in Divertimento Fanfare . The opening
rhythm can be described as consonance and then as the piece progresses, the rhythm
becomes dissonant. The interaction between these two kinds of rhythms builds
tension and energy. The texture of the piece had a main melody and a subordinate
melody, otherwise known as a homophonic texture. The only instruments in this
piece were the trumpet, horn, trombone, and the euphonium (small tuba). The tone
color or timbre of each instrument were all related with one another because all the
instruments were in the brass family. The second piece played was the Overture
and it was written by Kurt Weill. Kurt Weill was born the son of a cantor in Dessau.
He made a name for himself in Berlin during the 1920 s and 30 s while working with
Bertolt Brecht. His Overture
45. Society’s Effect in Peter Shaffer’s Equus and...
Peter Shaffer and Franz Kafka, the authors of Equus and Metamorphosis, reveal
through their main characters struggles how society s oppression causes a loss of
identity. This oppression is caused by society s obsession with what it believes to be
normal and how society s beliefs drive it to conform those who don t fit its normal
image. The two authors use their characters to symbolize the different views and
judgments of society. And based on these judgments, the authors use two different
types of oppression that cause different outcomes. Finally, this essay will reveal how
the two authors use their characters to drain the protagonists identity to show society
s desire to conform.
In both books, the authors use their characters to ... Show more content on

Whenever Gregor leaves his room he causes an uproar which usually ends with
him being physically punished and forced back into his room by his father. This
can be seen in the first chapter when Gregor reveals himself to his parents and boss,
and becomes injured when his father forces him back into the room. In addition in
the second chapter Gregor sustains mortal injuries for following his sister Grete into
the house to help his collapsed mother. In the end, with his injuries and seeing
himself as a nuisance and a monster like his family did, Gregor dies.
Both of the authors exploit their characters by using them to slowly leech the
identity of their protagonists which ends in the protagonists loss of identity. They
do this to show how society is always trying to conform others. In both books,
society tries to conform the characters into what they believe is best for them. This
can be seen in Equus when Dysart promises, It s all over now, Alan. It s all over
now. He ll [Equus] go away now... You are going to be well. I m going to make
you well, I promise you. (Shaffer 2 35). Shaffer uses his character Dysart to
supposedly cure Alan into a person who is accepted by society. However, Shaffer
creates another purpose for his character Dysart. Shaffer exploits Dysart to reveal
how society s cure for Alan is more destructive than it is helpful. Understanding what
this will do to Alan, Dysart declares,
I ll take it [Equus/ his religion] away! He ll

More Than Just A Game
The atmosphere warming up was silent, you could hear a pin drop. The field was a
perfect shade of green with a hint of dew on the tips of each piece of grass.
Yesterday, my team AC Sandhills was defeated 7 0 in our first game of the 2012
Mother s Day Tournament. There was no energy in anyone at the moment, including
myself. We thought the next gamewould just be like the first, another blowout. We
thought we were done in this tournament, but little did I know this would be the
game where everything would change. My coach JR noticed that we were not
ourselves in our warmup. So right before kickoff he gave us a speech about how to
bounce back after a horrendous defeat. When I was in college, we lost our first game
of the season off of an own goal 1 0. You know what happened in the next game? We
won, 4 0. Do you know how we won? Because we moved on. We focused on what
we had to do in the next game and we forgot about the last one. That s what I want
you guys to do. His motivational words filled me and the rest of my team with a
hunger for victory.
We walked out onto the field with a ton of energy but right as the whistle blew you
could tell we were not playing at all as a team. We were getting dominated all over
the field. Pass after pass from the other team, touching the ball was a gift for our
team. Then, about 10 minutes into the game, a player on the opposing team received
a pass and dribbled through our defense like it was non existent. He weaved
