Ethical Issue Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of ethical issues presents a unique challenge that requires a
delicate balance of introspection, research, and critical analysis. The complexity arises from the
inherent subjective nature of ethics, as what may be considered ethical to one individual or
culture could be perceived differently by another.
To begin, one must navigate a vast array of potential topics within the broad umbrella of ethical
issues, ranging from dilemmas in business and technology to questions of social justice and
environmental responsibility. Selecting a specific focus demands careful consideration of
personal interest, societal relevance, and the availability of credible sources.
Once a topic is chosen, the process of researching and gathering pertinent information
commences. This often involves delving into philosophical theories, legal frameworks, case
studies, and empirical data to develop a comprehensive understanding of the ethical dimensions
at play. It requires discernment to sift through conflicting perspectives and identify the most
salient arguments and evidence.
The next step involves constructing a coherent and persuasive argument that articulates the
ethical dilemma, evaluates various perspectives, and proposes reasoned solutions or
considerations. This necessitates clear reasoning, logical organization, and effective
communication skills to convey complex ideas in a manner that engages the reader and invites
thoughtful reflection.
Furthermore, grappling with ethical issues in writing necessitates a high level of self-awareness
and introspection. It demands an honest examination of one's own values, biases, and
assumptions, as well as a willingness to confront uncomfortable truths and entertain perspectives
that challenge personal beliefs.
In essence, writing an essay on ethical issues is a multifaceted endeavor that demands intellectual
rigor, empathy, and a commitment to ethical inquiry. It requires navigating a labyrinth of ethical
complexities, conducting thorough research, and engaging in introspective reflection to construct
a compelling narrative that grapples with the nuances of moral dilemmas.

Cereal Is A Common Household Breakfast Item Developed
By...
Cereal is a common household breakfast item developed in the United States and
produced using processed grains. In 1830, Dr. Sylvester Graham, a Presbyterian
minister, in expressing his distaste for the traditional carnivorous English breakfast
and preaching Christian vegetarianism, developed Graham flour , the first modern
whole wheatgrain flour , and Graham crackers, made of Graham flours.
Subsequently, Dr. James Jackson of New York, [purchased] large quantities of
Graham flour, [baked] them up, [rebaked] them, and [broke] them again to create a
breakfast product named granula, and that became the first modern breakfast cereal
manufactured. In 1887, John Harvey Kellogg, a Michiganite and follower of Graham

Out of these countries, the breakfast cereal manufacturing industry is the most
prosperous and well documented in the United States, the country that invented
breakfast cereal. Figure 1: American Map of Winter Wheat Productions
Breakfast cereal is made of wheat, which is generally produced by harvesting
grains from commercial crops. Depending on winter conditions, wheat could be
grown as a winter crop or as a spring crop. Modern wheat farmers use an apparatus
called combine harvester to collect wheat products, which could harvest wheat
automatically without requiring extensive labor on wheat farmers . According to
the U.S. Department of Agriculture s Statistical Services Bureau, the average farm
size in the United States is 432 acres in 2012, a 3.8 percent increase from the 2007
figure of 418 acres. However, only 1/3 of these lands are exclusively used for grain
harvesting. Specifically,
I Want To Be A Teacher In High School
I.Job I want to be a teacher in high school. This idea has come from my mother and
seeing my teachers. A teacher seemed so interesting and it s something that I ve
wanted to do. I also want to have the thousand days off because I want to have a
good amount of myself. I want to work in California since it is convenient for me
and for my family. On the other hand, I do want to be a good distance away from
them. Its one of those that I want to be both far away from my family and
simultaneously in the same state away. I might work at San MarcosHigh School
because it is close to where I want to go to for college. The college is CaliforniaState
University, San Marcos. I want to have a focus on history because it is my favorite
subject. The spark came from two of my favorite history teachers in all of my
years at the school. They were my eighth grade teacher and junior year history
teacher. They were teachers that just didn t lecture for hours on end. Both of them
made learning about history really fun and I want to continue what they do. I
expect to have to get a bachelor s degree or better in history and other courses since I
want to be a history teacher. I would also needto have a degree in teaching and pass
its state s exam for teaching if need be. Some states include a teacher s program in
with the learning that I do at college. The salary for a starting a high school teacher
in the Golden State of California is $46,060. The FICA amount I would pay is

The Columbine Shooting Essay
The Columbine Shooting A little over two years ago, one of the worst tragedies
concerning our nation s children was playing out in a small rural town in
Colorado. The date was April 20, 1999; the anniversary of Adolf Hitler s Birthday,
for any history buffs. But for everyone else the day started out like any other. In
Jefferson County (often mistakenly reported as being in Littleton), Colorado,
children went to school and parents went off to work. Neither was overly concerned
about the other, or about how the day would go, but in a few hours, that would all
change. Kleboldharris also went off to school that fateful day in April. Only they
knew that this day was anything but ordinary. This was the day that they had been
waiting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though there was a thorough investigation, there are many questions that still
surround this tragedy. What caused these two teenagers to go to such drastic
measures? Why was no one able to stop them? Were there any signs that this kind
of destruction was in the making? But, more importantly, what has been the
aftermath of this horrible massacre? These questions don t have any definite
answers, but speculations are more than abundant. In what was to become known
as the basement tapes , kleboldharris gave the most revealing insight into their
psyche. In these tapes kleboldharris say that they were natural born killers. If we
are to be held to this kind of thinking then we are to believe that some people are
just plain evil, and there is nothing that can be done to stop them. But there were
warning signs. And with warning signs, there is an opportunity for intervention. The
most easily identifiable accomplice in hardening the hearts of kleboldharris lies in
the media. From video games to movies, violence and callousness towards violence
is everywhere. The shock jock , Howard Stern, was the most distasteful of the crowd.
Immediately after the shootings he made comments about the girls running out of
Columbine, screaming and waving their arms in the air, as being sexy. He claimed
that if he was going to shoot them, he would first have had sex with them. He also
made comments about
Ronald Reagan Deployed Troops In Grenada
On October 25, 1983 Ronald Reagan sent 1,000 troops to the island of Grenada to
ensure the safety of Americans studying medicine in the local hospital. In 1979,
Maurice Bishop took power in Grenada and had close relations with Cuba which
was communist. Bishops was then assassinated by Bernard Coard who established a
communist government. This is the reason that Reagan deployed troops in Grenada.
He didn t want the influence of a Marxist government on the Americans. Many
Americans were unsure of the invasion. But Reagan saw it as a victory because
they were able to roll back Communist influence in the area. Coard s government fell
apart and the US brought in a leader who was approved by the United States. We also
brought back the Grenada
Explain How The Invention Of The Light Bulb Changed
Life...
The main idea of this article is that Nicholas Carr believed that the invention of the
light bulb changed life as they knew it. Carr said that the fire was the focal point of
the house where the families would gather in the evenings to share time. He
explained that when the lightbulb was invented the families spent more times in their
own rooms studying, reading, or working alone. In 1944 the germans forced their
people to use candles instead of lightbulbs during the nightly air raids because the
weak light of the candles were able to hide them better. So, essentially the light bulbs
were putting the German people in more danger.
The author communicates his idea of the light bulb changing the way we lived in a
very effective way by giving
Comparing The Jungle And How The Other Half Lives
Society has led us to believe that what doesn t kill you actually makes you stronger.
That there is no gain without pain. That a man s blood, sweat, and tears will be all
worth the struggle. The Roman poet Horace even once said that adversity can bring
out talents which in a successful environment, would not exist. With all these
assurances that difficult circumstances will meritable, it is hard to picture Horace s
statement being challenged. However, in the books, The Jungle, and How the Other
Half Lives, adversity clearly never led to any such benefits or talents being drawn
out as Horace mentioned. For example, within, The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair,
Jurgis, a Lithuanian immigrant, came to America with his family for the American
Dream. Eventually, they fall into fiscal trouble, and Jurgis old father, Antennas, is
forced to perform grueling work until he dies from it. Additionally, Jurgis struggles
to pay for his high interest house, and instead of eliciting a talent, Jurgis elicits
harsh resentment for his family. How the Other Half Lives, by Jacob Riis, also
described many of the worries the people of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The only dormant thing that was unveiled was his contempt for his family. He
hated having so much to worry about and no money for himself. He calls himself a
slave to marriage because he longs to be free from responsibility. No talents or
abilities came from this misfortune, and the family is never able to pay off the
house. One by one, most of his loved ones die because Jurgis is no longer strong
enough to support them. If Horace was right, Jurgis would have found a sleeping
skill within himself to save the day and help everyone, but that just is not how
reality works. Hard times do not mean that one will come out a more skillful person.
Horace s words really let Jurgis
Juxtaposition In Bless Me Ultima
Bright white light of the New Mexico sun bathes and protects the small town of
Guadalupe. Like his parents and older brothers before him, young Antonio struggles
to find his true inner self as his parents push two family names on him. In Anaya
Rudolfo s novel Bless Me, Ultima, Antonio is ultimately a mixture between a Marez
and a Luna, as seen through the juxtaposition between the symbols of the moonand
the sea, as well as Godand the Golden Carp. The moon that represents the Luna
family, and sea which connects to the Marez, are forces which push Antonio to make
his final decision about family. In the beginning, Antonio tries his hardest to please
both of his parents by combining their dissimilar ideas about his future. Although
Antonio begins his life thinking he is a mixture of both parents heritage, the
juxtaposition of the symbols in the book changes his mind on that, It is the blood of
the Lunas to be quiet... They are quiet like the moon And it is the blood of the
MГЎrez to be wild, like the ocean from which they take their name (Anaya 41).
Aside from the obvious fact that the Spanish word for moon is, in fact, Luna, that
family represents the moon. The calmness of said moon contrasts with the wild
men of the sea. Maria is controlling of her family, similar to how the moon controls
the sea. Each contrasting idea propels Antonio in separate directions either towards
the Luna priests or the Marez vaqueros. Despite the fact that his mother wants to
make a priest out of Antonio, the other side of his family thinks in their own
unique way, He is a Marez... His forefathers were conquistadors, men as restless as
the seas they sailed (Anaya 6). Once again, the contrary sides of Antonio s family
pull him to the sea instead of the moon. The true struggle Antonio goes through is
choosing his own destiny, even with the strong influences of both the moon and
sea. Suddenly he has a moment of realization and tells his uncle, I am Marez, ...
That is right, you are a Marez first, then Luna (Anaya 250). Even though he may
think he is Marez first, he still lives with Luna blood coursing through his veins.
After all, he skipped a grade, which makes him a boy of learning. Then again, his
adoration of nature proves
Analysis Of Hate Speech
This paper is a comparative analysis of hate speech laws between Japan and the
United States. I will analyze hate rhetoric stemming from the years 1980 to present
day. Today s political climate has generated a rebirth of hate speech in both countries.
Hate speech is a concern for those who believe in the right to free speech and
expression. I will outline the historical background that expands on the usage of
technology that incites hateful rhetoric towards targeted groups residing within these
countries, and propose a change in policy making.
Hate speech is defined as rhetoric which attacks an individual or group on the basis
of characteristics of race, religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender, or
disability. A society can... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The rhetoric, content, and tone within hate speech in Japan has grown to incite
violence toward Zainichi Koreans. It is through protest and rallies that they spread
slanderous content towards the these individuals. Zaitokukai accuse the Zainichi
Koreans of having special legal rights granted to them through the process of their
integration into the Japanese society. It claims that members of this ethnic group use
pass names that are Japanese style and often very different from their original Korean
names to abuse welfare and administrative systems. Haley (1998) anticipate that the
rhetoric and content of hate speech would lead to violence among Korean Japanese
immigrants in the future, but simultaneously brought up the notion of context from a
linguistics and tonal perspective.
Japan became an associate of the United Nations International Convention on the

In a conservative supermarket, where customers are described as sheep, the young
narrator Sammy develops a fondness for a group of bikini clad girls. His
conservative Sunday school teaching manager Lengel, spots the girls at cash
register with Sammy, and promptly tells them to leave. The young, beautiful, and
naive leader of the three girls becomes flustered. Sammy finishes ringing them up,
and, not wanting to be seen as the same as his boss by the leader of the girls, and
quits. By cutting ties with Lengel, he also cut ties with a friend of his parents. As he
leaves the parking lot, he begins to feel that society will become the supermarket,
and becomes worried about the tough future that lays ahead of him. Sammy goes

In the 1950s, further expansion followed. Subsidiaries were established in most

of these advancements, the cultural exchange around the world has increased leading

Living Constitution
Is it reasonable to believe that the United States of America should be governed by a
document that was written 220 years ago? Is it also reasonable to believe that the
same society that was over two century ago is the same one today? By definition, a
Living Constitution is one that evolves, changes over time, and adapts to new
circumstances, without being formally amended. (Strauss) Through the origins of the
Constitution, the history on why the Constitution was written, and the different court
cases that has transpired and lead to amendments being added to it will show why the
Constitution is considered a living document.
One of the main influences that our Constitution is based off is the English Common

Constitution, was made for the betterment of particular people who had the power
and means to make national changes. One example of why the document is a living
constitution is the thirteenth amendment. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude,
except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted,
shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. (United)
This amendment ended slavery in United States which was not originally part of the
founders forethought. With the semi flexibility of the Constitution, enslaved black
people were set free from the chains that bound them physically, but not the chains
that bound them mentally. Through the monumental court case Plessy v. Ferguson of
1896 initiated the establishment of the fourteenth amendment which upheld state
racial segregation laws for public facilities under the doctrine of separate but equal.
However this doctrine did not stand for long thus, on May 31, 1955, Warren read the
Court s unanimous decision, instructing the states to begin desegregation plans with
all deliberate speed. (Documents) Without the document having the ability to be
tweaked, life for black people in America would be even worse than it already
Data Catalog For Enterprise Geodatabase
Summary: Spatial information is usable when it has metadata, as it is
straightforward to follow and find datasets. GIS data catalog for Enterprise
Geodatabase is a project which allows acquiring information regarding the
availability of GIS datasets and related properties such as quality, description, the
point of contact, extent, etc. The audience for the project are the internal customers
looking for data. Managing spatial metadata records are critical for maintaining an
organization s investment in spatial data. Since the year 2009, UServices support
terabytes of data. However, the data does not consist of metadata. The data is
occasionally inconsistent, foreign or obsolete. Data catalog will allow them as a
department to achieve the following goals: Support a high quality of data Supports
decision making Provide consistent information to the customers. Provide an
inventory of data assets Help figure and keep up the value of data Help decide the
reliability and currency of data Document legal issue Help plan budget In my
opinion, this research has contributed to the organization and personal development.
This project is a package of individual growth in addition to organizational growth.
Personal Experience: Metadata a set of data, that describes and gives information

While Browning emphasizes on rhyme, Tennyson focuses on the thoughts of the
old and retired pirate, Ulysses. He uses words more to convey the message than to
follow grammatical rules. He also uses simple words to describe the profound
contrast of his retirement to his kingdom, distanced from the adventurous life he
once lived. Thus, the structure uses a mixture of flashback and foreshadowing
Ulysses life during the Trojan War, and his son s life after his (Ulysses ) demise.
The persona of the poem is Ulysses himself. Just like the Duke in My Last Duchess,
he uses dramatic monologue. This is demonstrated when he talks to his soldiers
during his past years as an energetic youth. Using the stylistic feature of flashback, he
takes readers through his past life, connoting the excitement it brought him. He then
brings one back to the present that immensely shows the contrast and equal
discontent that Ulysses feels. The flashback also aids in building the image of the
poem, in order to identify oneself with the persona. Furthermore, he uses a mixture
of archaic and simple words, which is also seen in Browning s

Corinthians 1 Colossian Religion
The Church We teach that all who place their faith in Jesus Christ are immediately
placed by the Holy Spirit into one united spiritual Body, the church (1 Corinthians
12:12 13), the bride of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 5:23 32; Revelation
19:7 8), of which Christ is the Head (Ephesians 1:22; 4:15; Colossians 1:18). We
teach that the formation of the church, the Body of Christ, began on the Day of
Pentecost (Acts 2:1 21, 38 47) and will be completed at the coming of Christ for
His own at the rapture (1 Corinthians 15:51 52; 1 Thessalonians 4:13 18). We teach
that the church is thus a unique spiritual organism designed by Christ, made up of
all born again believers in this present age (Ephesians 2:11 3:6). The church is
distinct from Israel (1 Corinthians 10:32), a mystery not revealed until this age
(Ephesians 3:1 6; 5:32). We teach that the establishment and continuity of local
churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures (Acts 14:23,
27; 20:17, 28; Galatians 1:2; Philippians 1:1; 1 Thessalonians 1:1; 2 Thessalonians

themselves together in local assemblies (1 Corinthians 11:18 20; Hebrews 10:25). We

United States And The United Kingdom Essay
Two of the most powerful democracies in the modern era, the United States and the
United Kingdom lead as examples as very successful forms of democratic
government. Yet despite both states utilizing democratic governments, both differ
greatly on how they operate as a state and through its governmental structure.
The Constitution:
The U.S created its current constitution after the failures of the Articles of Federation.
It created a strong central government that derived its powers from the constitution
but also shared powers with state and local governments. The UK on the other hand,
does not have a single document that stands as its constitution but instead enacts
constitutional provisions over several Acts of Parliament. U.S constitution is
extremely difficult to ratify through political means. This contrasts greatly to UK
Acts of Parliament which can be changed by a simple majority in the legislature. The
most important aspect of the American constitution is the strict separation of powers
of the executive, legislature, and the judiciary branches of government. This
separation of powers allows each branch to work independently but also allow them
to check each other s powers if one branch oversteps their boundaries. Checks and
balances within the three branches serve to limit but also connect each to work
together while being independent of each other. In the UK however, no such formal
separation of powers is present. The Government Minster must be a member of one

many pollutants producing by human day by day including nitrate, fluoride,
pesticides, mercury, lead, arsenic, and nitrite resulting from oil spills, burning of the
fossil fuels, dumping waste and sewage of factories, and etc. Among them, nitrite was
widely used in the food industry, pharmaceutical and agriculture as an additive in
foods due to improve color and flavor, preservative in meat products due to its
antimicrobial property, therapeutics and fertilizer. In addition, it was found in
vegetables and water by using the nitrate fertilizers and from natural nitrogencycle
process as a major active intermediate ion of this cycle producing by reduction of
nitrate or oxidation of ammonia. Nitrate has an important role in the formation of N
nitrosamines, hazardous compounds to human health, leading to be carcinogens. For
example, nitrite reacts easily with amide and amine of foods in the stomach to
generate N nitrosamines, resulting in Blue Baby Syndrome, bowel and stomach
cancer, and/or bind to hemoglobin of blood, producing methemoglobin who reduces
the oxygentransport capability in human blood which causes the leukemia and brain
tumor. The permissible concentration of nitrite in water according World Health
Organization is about 3 mg L 1 1. Therefore, the accurate quantitative monitoring of

Key Attributes Of United Parcel Service
In today s environment, it is extremely essential for retailers to embrace technology in
the course of their businesses. This is mainly because a significant number of
consumers can be attracted and accessed through technological measures. It is
essential to appreciate the fact that data, infrastructure and e commerce software form
the basis of United Parcel Service s technological superiority. All these tools play a
pivotal role in supporting the company s e commerce strategy and the company s
business strategy as a whole. One of the key attributes of United Parcel Service is its
commitment to investing in researching emerging technologies. This gives it an
exceptionally competitive advantage. United Parcel Service (UPS) consistently seeks
to embrace technologies that that enhance the company s efficiency (Russell Baker,
2008). The company s commitment to technological advancement made the company
appear in InternetWeek s top 100 companies in 2004 (Russell Baker, 2008). On the
other hand, InfoWorld ranked the company as the seventh company with the most
significant contribution to technological infrastructure. According to the company, it
owns and runs the largest DB2 relational database in the world (United Parcel
Service, 2016). The Ramap Ridge data center, which is located in Mahwah, New
Jersey, is used for virtually all the company s computational requirements. Another

The Influence Of The Underworld
April Sigrest Professor Lenoir English 102 23 October 2017 The Influence of the
Underworld In Yuri Herrera s Signs Preceding the End of the World, a number of
the ideas discussed contribute to the themes Herrera is trying to communicate; one
of those ideas is the underworld. Throughout the novel, several underworlds are
described, such as the physical underworld mentioned in the beginning when a
sinkhole opens up in a city and brings destruction, but a main underworld that we do
not often consider is the criminal underworld. Featuring what Herrera labels as the
top dogs, the criminal underworld described in Signs Preceding the End of the
World showcases all of the bad things that happen or, put simply, where crimes occur

Each one exhibits qualities that can be seen as conniving, and we find that two of
them really are. With both of them, we also find that their actions were truly
intentional all along. With Mr. Aitch, there was no land for Makina s brother, and
with Mr. Q, he never intended on having Makina come back to Mexico; he planned
for her to stay in the United States, giving her everything necessary to stay there.
These two characters are accurate representations of influences in the criminal
underworld. They both impact Makina and Makina s brother to the point where
they both find themselves residing in a different country, even though they both
had intentions on returning back to Mexico. In fact, one of the first mentions of
Makina s brother describes how he was determined to return. We do not see much
of Makina s brother too early in the story, but we do get a little background
information on him. With this background information, it becomes clear to the
audience how easy it is to have our minds changed by the criminal underworld.
Herrera describes that because Makina s brother learned of a possible land that his
family owned, he gathered up a few things, insisting someone s got to fight for what
s [their own] (Herrera 29). We find out with this information that one of the top dogs,
Mr. Aitch, was the reason Makina s brother ventured to America. Had it been a
reminder they had land in America, the promise might not have influenced Makina s

Note that in this case the Vrfy oracle behaves exactly the same to the actual Vrfy
alogrithm, and the adversary cannot use the Vrfy oracle to increase its probability of
success (see comparison below for further clarification). To rephrase this, an oracle
access to Vrfy does not augment the adversary s power. If the Mac scheme is
probabilistic there exist muiltple tags that one message can possibly correspond
to. Hence, in sharp contrast to the deterministic case, the adversary cannot be
certain of exactly which tag corresponds the message. Now, with an oracle access
to Vrfy, the adversary can simply query this oracle to eliminate some of the possible
tags, therefore dramatically increase the probability of success (Roughly speaking,
multiplied by the number of all possible corresponding tags. But this is limited to
polynomial many). That being said, an adversary with oracle access to Vrfy is more
powerful than one without such access. (The adversary can still output any message
m previously queried to the oracle! The definition says nothing about this.)

Abstract: As an outstanding representative of the second wave feminism, The
Madwoman in the Attic is still useful in handling the relationship between women and

Gilbert and Gubar s suggestion is no less than building a female language by
tactically maneuvering the existing conventions of patriarchal language through
women writers own practices and the practices of their foremothers. Under the
disguise of patriarchal discourse, women writers are telling stories of their own
one may deem it as women s duplicity. Two of the typical maneuverings are
palimpsest and parody. As Gilbert and Gubar put it: women from Jane Austen and
Mary Shelley to Emily BrontГ« and Emily Dickinson produced literary works that
are in some sense palimpsestic, works those surface designs conceal or obscure
deeper, less accessible (and less socially acceptable) levels of meaning. (Gilbert
Gubar, 73) Taking the double bind of stereotypical female figures for example, the
split between the innocent, quiet, selfless, good women ( mother goddess, merciful
dispensers of salvation, female symbols of justice ) and the vicious, evil women (
witches, evil eye, menstrual pollution, castrating mothers ) is a male construction that
women writer can never escape. Rather than demolishing the binary, women writers
redefine themselves by travelling between the two extremes through alternately
defining themselves as angel women or as monster women (Gilbert Gubar, 44) and
through creating dark doubles for themselves and their heroines (Gilbert Gubar, 79).

The Treatment of Phobias Essay
Everyone in life has fears, it s a natural way our brains process certain objects or
situations that may be dangerous. Common fears may be heights or spiders; some
would rationally go out of their way to avoid these, but this is quite different from
having a phobia. A phobia is an irrational distress with a particular object or concept
/idea. Although fears are well known now, they do not have to disrupt the lives of
those who are living them. Throughout the essay there will be three different
treatments with three different phobias in ways to cure a phobia; the first is a trauma
focused treatment approach for travel phobia, assessment and treatment for childhood
phobias, and hypnosis in facilitating clinical treatment of injections.... Show more

When introduced to in vivo exposure the patients showed an increase of PTSD
symptoms (Handley, Salkovskis, Ehlers, 2008). When performing the study 125
people received TF CBT, and the remaining 59 received EMDR + in vivo exposure .
In results there was a clear sign of reduction in mild travel anxiety with up to 7.3
sessions. Although, there were found that one treatment would be more beneficial
than the other in terms of reduction of symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD.
Overall the signs of Travel Phobia and anxiety were reduced in both methods of
treatments giving the researchers plenty of evidence for being successful in a trauma

observations. Taking methods from the DSM IV C there are separate questionnaires
for both parent and child on different phobia types (animal, injection, and
environment) on a scale from one to eight of interference. In traditional

Essay on Egyptian Art and Culture
Egyptian Art and Culture
Current scholarship generally acknowledges that art does not exist in a vacuum.
Rather, art is an expression of the culture which creates it, revealing common beliefs,
aspirations, and feelings. Within the vein of cultural art history the true nature of
ancient Egypt has become the focus of much questioning. Much has been said
regarding this ancient civilization within the context of the continent of
Africa. The focus has not been merely geographic although some scholars contend
that the physical location of Egypt has been all but overlooked. At the core of this
controversy is the issue of ethnicity and culture. What was the identity of the people
who built and populated ancient Egypt?1

In another version, the creation was understood in its first state as metaphysical,
attributed to Atum. On the spectrum, creation progressed each step closer toward
matter. Myth often relates the story of Ptah, the divine blacksmith, who brought
materialization to the entities created by Atum. And, to Khnum, the divine potter,
who modeled men and things from clay on his potter s wheel.5
It is within this framework that the Egyptians conceived of what it meant to be
human. A distinction was made between the aspects of a human being of that which
was eternal and that which was subject to cycles of death and rebirth. According to
funerary texts, humans are composed of a mortal body, called the kha, and three
immortal elements known as the akh, ba, and ka. These have been translated as the
spirit, soul, and double. More current interpretation assigns a less specified role for
each entity.
Regardless of the translation, an understanding of the concept of creation by the
divine, imparting multiple aspects to each being was necessary to the Egyptian use of
art to represent themselves and deities. The personification of the
Social Communication And Human Characteristics Of
Social...
It is extremely important to understand the traits of social media and the human
factors impacting technology because if we did not, there would be a lot more
miscommunications and misunderstandings between people. For example, social
media users need to understand that social media communication is limited compared
to face to face communication. Factors such as Temporal Structure, which is the time
it takes to send and receive a message, affect how effective social media
communication is. Also, Asynchronous communication, which is communication
that occurs when participants are not co present, could cause communication
problems because the people who are communicating might not be as involved in a
conversation. Tone and other signs that people give off to relay emotions and
messages are not present in many social communication forms as well.
There are three key steps in the Perception Process. The first is to Observe
someone s behavior and determine what the behavior means. The second is to
describe the behavior to the person objectively. It is important to not show any
approval or disapproval to their actions in this step. Next, you explain your
personal perception of the behavior. This step is very important because you let the
person know how YOU feel, and this will allow them to respond to your feelings
accordingly. It is also important to be ready to change or alter your perception based
on the person s reaction to your perception checking process.
Automatic social cognition or perception means that someone is arriving to
conclusions about situations, people, or themselves, without much conscious
awareness or intention on what the future effects might be. On the other hand,
conscious or controlled cognition means that someone is stopping to think about
something intentionally, because they realise that their thoughts can affect what
happens in a situation. This means that automatic social cognition is always
happening and can lead to someone making decisions and judgements that are not
very thought out or reasonable. One time I made the automatic and unconscious
assumption that someone was weird just because they watched Japanese cartoons, I
told my friend and this ended up spreading to the person I was
The United States Essay
1. The Commonwealth They Served
The weather was seasonally cold in Pennsylvania s Capitol late in 1914. On Sunday
morning, December 27, the temperature was 1 degree Fahrenheit. This reading was
the lowest ever registered in the last month of the year during the almost three decade
history of the Harrisburg weather station. Nevertheless, the cold did not dim the
spirit of the holiday season as the Harrisburg Evening Telegraph newspaper cheerfully
proclaimed, Perfect Christmas Makes City Happy.
During that week, Governor John K. Tener, in the last month of his term, released a
legislatively mandated report that made history. The Report of the Economy and
Efficiency Commission, for one of the very few times in Pennsylvania s Chronicle,
provided the public with a roster of all 5,152 state employees. The release of this
document was a key milestone in the Commonwealth s early 20th century effort to
improve its personnel management practices.
By listing names, this document provides an opportunity to recognize the often
unheralded contributions of selected state employees assigned to organizations under
the general supervision of the Governor. The register also affords an invaluable
chance to appreciate how the offices, bureaus, and divisions make Pennsylvania
work. Researching their efforts brought to light a collective commitment to assist the
public. This attribute is a common virtue among Pennsylvania state employees, both
past and present. It is the one thing
Georges De La Tourette
Tourette s, also called TS, is a genetic disorder with correspondence to the nervous
system that starts in childhood and can last for years or be lifelong. It is mainly
characterized by tics, uncontrollable repetitive actions or unwarranted noises, like
nonstop blinking or the exclamation of belligerent slurs, usually against will. The
most affected are those ages six to forty, and it is more common in males;
hereditary wise, at risk males are more likely to have TS than at risk females. It
reaches over 200,000 people in the United States per year, and is habitually self
diagnosable, with vast behavioral, muscular, and mood changing effects. Despite the
fact that it has no cure, treatments such as antipsychotic medication and cognitive
psychological therapies can help to improve greatly. A key way to seek help for TS
is to consult a specialist fit for the patient, whether it be a pediatrician, an age

that described a peculiar condition he deemed worthy of the name maladie des tics.
He wrote in this issue of nine specific cases whom he had closely examined,
correlated by indicators comparable to youth onset, hereditability, and
uncontrollable paroxysms. It seems he guessed that the deterring aspect of the
disorder came from the origin of immoral acts of the patient s predecessors. In turn,
Gilles de la Tourette was responsible for setting the stage for the later research of

Facial Recognition System
CHAPTER 1 FACIAL RECOGNITION SYSTEM
1.1 INTRODUCTION
A biometrics is, Automated methods of recognizing an individual based on their
unique physical or behavioral characteristics. For example face, fingerprint, signature,
voice etc. Face recognition is a task humans perform remarkably easily and
successfully.
In face recognition Features extracted from a face are processed and compared with
similarly processed faces present in the database. If a face is recognized it is known
or the system may show a similar face existing in database else it is unknown.
Face recognition has been a topic of active research since the 80 s, proposing
solutions to several practical problems. It has been a challenging job for the
researchers to develop a facial recognition system with 100% accuracy because of all
the difficulties and limitations. As we know that the human face changes after a
short period of time so no facial recognition system can work perfectly after a few
years. It has to be updated with the latest database images of the person in order to
verify the person. Also wearing spectacles, mask, mustaches may also affect the
output of the face recognition system. Face recognition is a biometric which is much
easier to understand, because we recognize or identify different people mostly by
their faces. However the recognition process used by the human brain for identifying
faces has not a concrete explanation. It has now become essential to have reliable
security systems in
Religion And Characteristics Of Ancient Egyptian Religion
How did religion influence every aspect of ancient Egyptian life?
The textbook says, The Egyptians depended on the sun to grow their crops and on
the Nile River to make the soil fertile. Thus, two of the most crucial gods were the
sun god Re and the river god Hapi (HAH pee). Another important god was Osiris (oh
SY ruhs). According to legend, Osiris was an early pharaoh who gave the Egyptian
people laws and taught them farming.
What are some characteristics of the ancient Egyptian religion/belief system?
Most characteristics of the belief system relates to the afterlife:
They thought that the pharaoh s soul resided in his body, and that the body had to be
protected in order for the soul to complete the journey to the afterlife.
How Tobacco Use Teaching Methods
Tobacco Use Teaching Methods
Introduction
Choosing the correct teaching method is important to help the learner retain and
learn information in an effective and efficient way. Tobacco use is a health related
topic that needs further education and intervention from a nurse. Group discussion
and demonstration, and return demonstration are two teaching methods of interest to
me, which I believe will be beneficial to use when educating a small group of five
people about this health related topic are. Group discussion involves the deliverance
of medical information or education to a small group of individuals which may
include their family so information, opinions can be exchanged with the nurse. This
is simple way to deliver information to more than one person at one time if time
management is a concern, and the nurse is able to build trust and rapport with the
group as a whole. Demonstration and return demonstration works more effectively
in a small group and involves education or teaching with the nurse and learner(s).
This method also allows time for feedback from both parties. The nurse gives the
learner a demonstration of a task to perform and the learner has to attempt to carry
out the task back showing competence, and the nurse is on standby to give cues as
needed.
Group discussions Group discussions are beneficial as this teaching method is useful
as it allows the learners to share information about their personal experiences and is
both economically and time
Quotes From Life Of Pi
Martel explores the theme of human survival through the symbolism of the colour
orange. Hope and survival are portrayed through the colour orange. This is evident
when Pi s daughter Usha walked into the living room, holding an orange cat in her
arms (pg 92). The little orange cat symbolises Richard Parker who was the big cat
who helped Pi survive which gives the reader hope that, this story has a happy
ending (pg 93) implying that Pi survived the misfortune. The colour orange is also
portrayed through Orange Juice who was the Orang utan. She provided emotional
support that helped Pi maintain hope in the midst of the tragedy. This is evident
when she arrives on the floating bananas and Pi says, Pondicherry fertility goddess,

First Solar, Inc.
First Solar, Inc. located in Huntington Beach is a design and manufacturing
company found in 1999 who produce photovoltaic modules, or solar panels,
through the use of thin film semiconductors (Reuters, para 2). The company
however, has a much earlier history than scribed. In 1984, inventor and owner of
Solar Cells, Inc Harold McMaster manufactured solar cells from silicon
(energyandcapital, para 2). However, as silicon became more expensive,
McMaster decided to switch to cadmium telluride. This material was far more
inexpensive than silicon which would eventually lead the company to thrive. So it
thrived, as in 1999 the company was purchased by True North Partners, LLC and
was named First Solar, Inc (energyandcapital, para 10). First Solar is the first solar
company to flourish and create new solar innovations. Such as, producing 1 GW of
solar electricity in a single year, breaking the one dollar per watt manufacturing
overhead cost, and creating a photovoltaic modulerecycling program (FirstSolar,
para 2). To put that into perspective clean technica explains that, 1GW of solar
power can power up to 750,000 homes and about 2 coal fired power plants (Shahan,
para 2). To evaluate whether First Solar is a smart investment decision, we will first
take a look at growth profitability of the company along with the corporate
responsibility the company holds. We will also take into consideration energy
efficiency as well as their support services. Based upon these factors a

surpassed that bar. With his book, Isaac Marion added a new twist to the ever
growing zombie genre by having a zombie narrator. The zombie genre became very
popular as early as 2004 and is still popular to this day, and to release a novel in this
genre, it had to be unique, something the audience has not seen before. Isaac Marion

Compare And Contrast Percheron And Quarter Horses
Percherons and Quarter horses have copious similarities and differences. The
physical features of the Quarter horse and the Percheron contrast dramatically.
Both breeds of horses have several similar jobs and a few different jobs. The
weight, height and life expectancy of the Percheron versus the Quarter horse vary.
While Quarter horses come in bounteous colors, Percherons come in a several eye
catching colors, and each breed also has a different blood type, or in other words,
temperament. Both Percherons and Quarter horses can have several different
health problems. The history and breed development of the Percheron contrasts
dramatically from that of the Quarter horse, with only a few similarities.
Percherons and Quarter horses each have different physical features. Both the
Percheron and the Quarter horse have straight profiled heads. While the Quarter
horse has a short and small refined head, the Percheron has an exceptionally broad
forehead, small ears, and large eyes. Both Percherons and Quarter horses have very
deep and broad chests. Although the Quarter horse has strong legs and flat knees,
the Percheron has clean and heavily muscled feet and legs. Percherons and quarter
horses share several of the same jobs and a few different ones. Both Percherons and
Quarter horses are used for dressage, jumping, and racing. Both breeds are also used
for general riding. While Quarter horses are used for rodeos and hunting, Percherons

Musical Infant Development
My reaction to the musical infant and their musical abilities is that in spite of the
studies already made, still there are unresolved questions. One issue in discussion
for example is if an infant can hear in the womb. Indeed, even in the womb there is
proof that babies react to a wide range of sound. Medical studies have concluded that
a fetus can hear from the third semester. In a 1980 testing Anthony J. De Casper and
William P. Fifer found that some rudimentary cognition starts at this point and a close
connection with the mother as well.
Besides, the inclination that infants have for music have a hereditary component and
an additional environmental factor (Trehub, 2001). There are behaviors present in the
baby that demonstrate that they are not inactive audience members, they deliver their
own particular coordinated sounds moving head and limbs in light of specific sounds.
This is particularly genuine when there is communication with ... Show more content

The similarities, assuming any, between the two are that both are sound related and
musical to some degree. Both language and music have rules that must be followed in
order to make musical and communicative thoughts understandable to others.
Researchers explain that in both music and in discourse patterns there are two
components that work together rhythm and pitch. There is an association then in the
minds of numerous individuals that there is prosody in speech (a characteristic ascent
and fall of the voice and rhythmic qualities). This is like components in music. As per
Jusczyk and Hohne, The latter half of the infant s first year is a critical point in
acquiring a language (p. 1984).The infant needs to perceive the speech of people

Isabella DEste And The Renaissance
Isabella d Este was a patron of the arts who had a very well educated and privileged
upbringing that contributed to her dexterous lifestyle. She grew up in an
environment where she could thrive as a politician or a patron of the arts because of
her outstanding education. Isabella s parents believed that all of their children should
be educated equally and should each be given the same opportunities. She was lucky
because many women during the Renaissancewere not educated Her parents are the
main reason she was such a successful woman in the Renaissance. As well as being
a patron, Isabella d Este was a political figure for some time. While her husband
was in prison, she had to perform his job. While her husband was in the military,
Isabella used her resources to broaden the stature of Ferrara. She was able to
become not only an artistic figure but a political one too while she was doing her
husband s job. D Este was a noble figure for many and influenced many different
aspects of the Renaissance. Isabella d Este, a notable patron of the artsand collector of
antiquities, established the first known studiolo (study) created for a woman. .
Isabella d Este had interests in many different aspects of the rebirth of Greco
Roman cultures, such as art and antiques as well as politics, which all had some
influence on the overall spirit of the Renaissance. d Este was very passionate about
what she did and was excited that she could share that with the world. Isabella d Este
Outsourcing Of The United States
According to Investopedia, outsourcing is a practice used by different companies to
reduce costs by transferring portions of work to outside suppliers rather than
completing it internally (Investopedia, n.d). Companies use outsourcing to reduce
costs and improve productivity. In the 1970 s and 1980 s was when companies first
began looking for alternatives to increase their profits and increase the production of
their products (Narayanan, 2015). Products were becoming to expensive to make in
the United Statesand other lesser developed countries were less expensive, and that is
why the United States turned to China for production. There are lots of other reasons
for outsourcingsuch as gaining access to new markets, gaining global knowledge,
focusing on their core business practices, and being closer to their resources.
Gaining access to new markets happens because the company is moving production
abroad, and they are in a whole new area. When they begin production in this area,
the people of that country are opened up to that new idea. Also gaining global
knowledge is very similar to gaining access to new markets. With the company being
in a new country they learn a lot about that country. They need to learn practices,
customs, language, etc. If that company doesn t learn customs, beliefs, or practices
then they can offend the citizens of that country, and then their company will not be
as successful. If a company decides to outsource, they also can focus on their core
Ellis Harris Narrative
Throughout the afternoon sessions, thankfully only two remained after Emily
Harris, the image of Ellis Harris lingered. He could still vividly envisage her model
features, the manner in which her perky young breasts strained the fabric of her shirt,
her luscious blonde hair, smile, youth. and, oh god, that ass. The perfect, tight
buttocks that flexed under the thin fabric of her uniform as stood, and which his gaze
never left until the office door had closed behind her.
When it had, Dr McHugh not longer attempted to stop the physical reaction her
presence had elicited, but embraced it. With Emily out of sight, where he could push
aside the sounds anguish in her voice, and the memory of her tear filled eyes, and
the reason she d been referred to him, The Doctor dropped a hand, and moaned softly
when he gripped his erection through the fabric of his trousers, granting ... Show more

But.
Leave. Ellis s voice turned stern, and the cheerful expression on the maid s face
transformed into one of surprise, before she meekly nodded, and turned her back.
McHugh didn t get to witness the latter, and barely heard the door close, for as he
approached Beth, his attention was locked on her. Somehow she looked younger
than usual, more attractive, alluring. Like when they d first met. Hey baby. Ellis
unknotted his tie as he dropped into the seat next to Beth, and threw an arm around
her shoulder. Tedious. A bunch of privileged, assholes suffering first world
afflictions; a mother addicted to sleeping pills, and a paranoid schizophrenic hearing
the voice of God instructing him to peep into the next door neighbours window.
Sometimes I wonder why I bother. No mention of Emily
Taking a Look at Social Cognition
Social cognition is a fascinating topic which stands at the threshold of much
important sociological research. Researchers have spent considerable amounts of
time exploring the encoding and processing of social cues in aggressive children s
interactions with other people. They hypothesize and studies tend to support the
idea that these children feature disproportionately aggressive responses to certain
social cues. Two studies conducted in the 1980 s explain the existence of poor
social cognition skills or at least poor social reactions in aggressive children. Both
of these studies did, in fact, find that the more aggressive male children respond
more aggressively in two specific situations. An aggressive child is one who
frequently answers certain social cues with aggressive verbal, physical or emotional
reactions. The aggressive boys reacted aggressively when 1) prompted with an
aggressive cue, and 2) prompted with an ambiguous cue. Nonaggressive boys did not
feature this skewed reaction to ambiguous prompts. These trends suggest that
aggressive boys do not only react aggressively in situations which are less clearly
threatening, but also that aggressive boys are significantly more likely to attribute
aggressive intentions to the actions of other peers. This second observation is also
specifically in cases which feature ambiguous cues. Based on this last finding, it was
also determined that environmental conditions specifically threatening ones have a
Enrichment In Zoos And Aquariums
Zoos and aquariums are some of the most fun and educational places to visit.
However its rare to see just how much care and work goes into keeping animals
happy and healthy. The number one goal for any zoo or aquarium should be the
wellbeing of its inhabitants. With advancements in research on enrichment and 3d
printing in veterinary care, this field is taking steps to provide animals with care
even better than before. Enrichment is an incredibly important when it comes to
overall health and wellbeing of an animal. Enrichment is anything that provokes
natural behavior by mental or physical stimulus. This is common practice in most
zoological facilities and is primarily provided for mammals and birds. However
recent research suggest that enrichment could be beneficial for reptiles and
amphibians. Reptiles and amphibians have been stereotyped as rather simple
minded with little personality and minimal care needs According to Burghardt One
study did formally study the effects of enrichment in altering the behavior of
yearling rat snakes (Pantherophis) (Almli and Burghardt, 2006). We used 16 snakes
from two clutches of eggs from both yellow ratsnakes and black ratsnakes. Half of
each clutch were raised with more complex environments with substrate for
burrowing and branches for climbing and fed live mice; the other half were raised in
standard situations with dead prey, no climbing opportunities, and a solid substrate.
The sizes of the enclosures were the same for both groups.
Comparing the Hero in Epic of Gilgamesh and Homer s
Iliad...
The Hero in Epic of Gilgamesh and the Iliad
One and the same lot for the man who hangs back and the man who battles hard. The
same honor waits for the coward and the brave. They both go down to Death, the
fighter who shirks, the one who works to exhaustion. (IX,385 88)
Thus muses Achilles, one of epic poetry s greatest heroes. Epic poetry, one of the
earliest forms of literature, began as an oral narration describing a series of mythical
or historic events. Eventually, these stories were written down and read aloud to an
audience. Although the Epic of Gilgamesh was composed approximately fifteen
hundred years prior to the Iliad, the heroes of both epics possess strikingly similar
characteristics. Indeed, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His friend Enkidu expresses this when he states, Your strength surpasses the strength
of men. (20). Achilles, on the other hand, is a famous warrior, feared by many, who
the Achaians depend on to win the war. Even his enemy, Agamemnon, recognizes
Achilles strength when he declares, That man is worth an entire army, / the fighter
Zeus holds dear with all his heart (IX, 141 42).
Although they are each strong, courageous and favorite sons of the gods, Gilgamesh
and Achilles share the same tragic flaw: overweening pride. Gilgamesh must prove
his strength and superiority by being first with the women and by physically
overpowering the men. The elders of his kingdom suggest that he is unbearable when
they mutter, His arrogance has no bounds by day or night (14). And Achilles anger at
Agamemnon and his hurt pride only serve to escalate the conflict during the Trojan
War. Due to Agamemnon s mistreatment of him, Achilles refuses to fight stating, I
swear, a yearning for Achilles will strike / Achaea s sons and all your armies! . . .
Then / then you will tear your heart out, desperate, raging/ that you disgraced the best
of the Achaeans (I, 281 87).
Another quality that the two heroes share and that softens their strong characters is
loyalty to a friend. Gilgamesh is so embittered by the death of his friend Enkidu that
he risks his life crossing over the waters of death in an attempt to bring Enkidu
The Effect Of Emotion Coaching On Children And
Children...
Parent emotion coaching helps children to integrate their right brain with their left
brain for healthy development of emotion regulation. However, parents are required
to be self aware of their own emotions for positive results when emotion coaching
their children. Emotion coaching improves children s ability to self calm and label
their feelings; in addition, it fosters emotional health as parents teach their children to
express emotions especially when facing conflicting and difficult situations. Emotion
coaching programs assist both parents and children with emotion dysregulation by
breaking their negative behavioral patterns resulting in improved behavioral conduct.
Children diagnosed with ADHD and ODD experience beneficial results with parent
emotion coaching. Introduction
Emotion coaching assists parents in recognizing the significance of their children s
emotions by being receptive and accepting through spoken directives as children learn
how to appropriately express and cope with their own emotions (Dunsmore, Booker,
Ollendick, 2013). In addition, emotion coaching works when parents are equipped
with self awareness of their own emotions and that of their children (Lauw,
Havighurst, Wilson, Harley, Northam, 2014). These parents understand the
importance of spending time with their children to build the bridge of intimacy while
assisting in the development of placing names on emotions and teaching self
comforting, empathy towards others, and setting
Islamic Influence On The Modern World
The muslims from the Islamic empire had created everything from the elegant
architecture such as mosques to a completely new level in the field of medicines.
This time period takes place in the 7th and 8th centuries and lies between its two
primary cities, Baghdad and Cordoba. During the Golden Age, the ideas of the Arabs,
Egyptians, and Europeans came together. The Islamic contributions affected the
modern world by creating unique geometric and floral designs, making new
discoveries in geography and taught the study of arithmetics.
The natives of the Islamic empire had produced many new and dazzling forms of arts
and literature calligraphy and architecture, that was popular around that time period
and in the modern world of today. During ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Geometric and floral design was significant because it helped to make everyday
items, such as plates, and turn it into a work of art using these designs. Also, it
helped to illuminate the Qur an and helped to decorate the mosques. Geography was
important because the muslims created more accurate maps, that helped the travelers
to get information of a region s location, physical features, and natural resources.
Lastly mathematics helped the world because the Muslims help spread a very
important number, 0. It was important also because of the muslim scholar who had
invented the arabic numbers, which are used today. Without this useful innovations, it
would be difficult to make such progress people would have in the modern
Willa Cather Research Paper
1. Willa Cather 2. Willa Cather and the Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne 3.
The Barn Burner 4. A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner 1. Willa Cather seems to
take issue with the bland and boring nature of realism above all else. She notes that
realism is not in itself an artistic expression, yet so many art forms from literature
to paintings particularly from her time period portray little more than the realism
of our world. In her mind, the literalness that is realism can be successfully
integrated in art, but it must be done in a specific way for it to qualify as true art.
The literalism needs to fuse with the emotions and experiences of the characters
and simply remain as a simple component of the artistic experience rather than the
entire focus. The novelists and other artists of her time that she mentions and feels
have placed too much focus on realism in their work are not real artists in her
mind. Overall it seems that Cather believed that the growing prominence of realism
within art forms in her time was leading to their downfall and their loss of true
artistic expression. As she stated within The Novel DГ©meublГ©, If the novel is a
form of imaginative art, it cannot be at the same time a vivid and brilliant form of
journalism (par. 7). Through this quote, she is essentially getting her aforementioned
message across by comparing realism in art to mere journalism the mere relaying of
facts and realities without a shred of creativity or imagination
Country History of Afghanistan
Country History of Afghanistan Throughout history Afghanistan has served as a focal
point for the movement of people, goods, and ideas due to its central location linking
East Asia with that of the Arabian Peninsula. The land has seen conflict and warfare
with the passage of great empires to include those of Alexander the Great, the
Ghaznavids, three Anglo Afghan wars, the Soviet Afghan war, as well as the GWOT,
of which Afghanistanplays an integral role. The independent, fractious, and culturally
diverse Afghanistan we see today is a direct derivative of its unique history and
geography which has been dominated by external influence for centuries. Early
written history of Afghanistan reaches back to the time of Alexander the Great (c.
330 BCE). Afghanistan has been occupied by multiple empires throughout its history
and has enjoyed significant trade hubs due to its location along the Silk Road, most
notably the Afghan cities of Balkh and Herat, the latter of which continues to be of
economic significance due to its proximity to Iran. For the purposes of this paper we
will examine the recent history of Afghanistan which encompasses the 20th and 21st
centuries, however, it is important to note that significant outside interference has
affected the sovereignty of Afghanistan throughout its history. The present day
borders are a direct result of the Durrani Empire which ruled for nearly a century until
British intervention in what quickly became known as The Great Game,
Semiotic Analysis Of An Advertisement
Introduction Semiotics refers to the study of signs in culture, symbols and their use
or interpretation. The following semiotic analysis of the advertisement for Frank
Rippingille s patent cooking stoves and an image of the Summer at the Cape of
Good Hope Afternoon tea on the stoep by Renhardt, which proceeds by a description
of the denotative meaning of the image and the advertisement and then followed by
the interpretation of the connotative meaning by drawing on knowledge of the
Victorian values (Walvin 1987). Semiotic analysis1: Summer at the Cape of Good

These stoves were a product of the empire as they were manufactured in
Birmingham in the 1880 s (Oil cooking stoves[Sa]). By using these stoves it
actually shows support to the empire and hence national pride (Walvin 1987). The
woman who is handing out the stoves is Queen Victoria because of the crown on
her head and the lion on her chair and lion represent royalty (Symbolic meaning of
lions[Sa]). She was the Queen of Britain from 1837 to 1901 which was the second
largest reign in the British monarch. The people who come from different cultures
represent the different nations and this is justified by the text which states
Englands gift a blessing to all nations Queen Victoria represents England and the
gift is the stove. The smile on the man who is carrying a board while looking at
Queen Victoria while she is handing out stoves shows that he is happy and he has a
cheerful character. The black man who is receiving the stove is on his knees which
expresses gratitude and shows good manners and respect to Queen Victoria, which is
one of the Victorian values (Walvis

Ethical Issue Essay.pdf

  • 1. Ethical Issue Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of ethical issues presents a unique challenge that requires a delicate balance of introspection, research, and critical analysis. The complexity arises from the inherent subjective nature of ethics, as what may be considered ethical to one individual or culture could be perceived differently by another. To begin, one must navigate a vast array of potential topics within the broad umbrella of ethical issues, ranging from dilemmas in business and technology to questions of social justice and environmental responsibility. Selecting a specific focus demands careful consideration of personal interest, societal relevance, and the availability of credible sources. Once a topic is chosen, the process of researching and gathering pertinent information commences. This often involves delving into philosophical theories, legal frameworks, case studies, and empirical data to develop a comprehensive understanding of the ethical dimensions at play. It requires discernment to sift through conflicting perspectives and identify the most salient arguments and evidence. The next step involves constructing a coherent and persuasive argument that articulates the ethical dilemma, evaluates various perspectives, and proposes reasoned solutions or considerations. This necessitates clear reasoning, logical organization, and effective communication skills to convey complex ideas in a manner that engages the reader and invites thoughtful reflection. Furthermore, grappling with ethical issues in writing necessitates a high level of self-awareness and introspection. It demands an honest examination of one's own values, biases, and assumptions, as well as a willingness to confront uncomfortable truths and entertain perspectives that challenge personal beliefs. In essence, writing an essay on ethical issues is a multifaceted endeavor that demands intellectual rigor, empathy, and a commitment to ethical inquiry. It requires navigating a labyrinth of ethical complexities, conducting thorough research, and engaging in introspective reflection to construct a compelling narrative that grapples with the nuances of moral dilemmas. Similar essays and a wealth of other academic writing services can be accessed through platforms like HelpWriting.net, offering assistance in navigating the intricacies of ethical discourse and crafting compelling arguments on a diverse range of topics. In 1830, Dr. Sylvester Graham, a Presbyterian minister, in expressing his distaste for the traditional carnivorous English breakfast and preaching Christian vegetarianism, developed Graham flour , the first modern whole wheatgrain flour , and Graham crackers, made of Graham flours. Subsequently, Dr. James Jackson of New York, [purchased] large quantities of Graham flour, [baked] them up, [rebaked] them, and [broke] them again to create a breakfast product named granula, and that became the first modern breakfast cereal manufactured. Out of these countries, the breakfast cereal manufacturing industry is the most prosperous and well documented in the United States, the country that invented breakfast cereal. Figure 1: American Map of Winter Wheat Productions Breakfast cereal is made of wheat, which is generally produced by harvesting grains from commercial crops. Depending on winter conditions, wheat could be grown as a winter crop or as a spring crop. Modern wheat farmers use an apparatus called combine harvester to collect wheat products, which could harvest wheat automatically without requiring extensive labor on wheat farmers . According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture s Statistical Services Bureau, the average farm size in the United States is 432 acres in 2012, a 3.8 percent increase from the 2007 figure of 418 acres. However, only 1/3 of these lands are exclusively used for grain harvesting. Specifically,
  • 3. I Want To Be A Teacher In High School I.Job I want to be a teacher in high school. This idea has come from my mother and seeing my teachers. A teacher seemed so interesting and it s something that I ve wanted to do. I also want to have the thousand days off because I want to have a good amount of myself. I want to work in California since it is convenient for me and for my family. On the other hand, I do want to be a good distance away from them. Its one of those that I want to be both far away from my family and simultaneously in the same state away. I might work at San MarcosHigh School because it is close to where I want to go to for college. The college is CaliforniaState University, San Marcos. I want to have a focus on history because it is my favorite subject. The spark came from two of my favorite history teachers in all of my years at the school. They were my eighth grade teacher and junior year history teacher. They were teachers that just didn t lecture for hours on end. Both of them made learning about history really fun and I want to continue what they do. I expect to have to get a bachelor s degree or better in history and other courses since I want to be a history teacher. I would also needto have a degree in teaching and pass its state s exam for teaching if need be. Some states include a teacher s program in with the learning that I do at college. The salary for a starting a high school teacher in the Golden State of California is $46,060. The FICA amount I would pay is $3,524. My

  • 5. The Columbine Shooting Essay The Columbine Shooting A little over two years ago, one of the worst tragedies concerning our nation s children was playing out in a small rural town in Colorado. The date was April 20, 1999; the anniversary of Adolf Hitler s Birthday, for any history buffs. But for everyone else the day started out like any other. In Jefferson County (often mistakenly reported as being in Littleton), Colorado, children went to school and parents went off to work. Neither was overly concerned about the other, or about how the day would go, but in a few hours, that would all change. Kleboldharris also went off to school that fateful day in April. Only they knew that this day was anything but ordinary. This was the day that they had been waiting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even though there was a thorough investigation, there are many questions that still surround this tragedy. What caused these two teenagers to go to such drastic measures? Why was no one able to stop them? Were there any signs that this kind of destruction was in the making? But, more importantly, what has been the aftermath of this horrible massacre? These questions don t have any definite answers, but speculations are more than abundant. In what was to become known as the basement tapes , kleboldharris gave the most revealing insight into their psyche. In these tapes kleboldharris say that they were natural born killers. If we are to be held to this kind of thinking then we are to believe that some people are just plain evil, and there is nothing that can be done to stop them. But there were warning signs. And with warning signs, there is an opportunity for intervention. The most easily identifiable accomplice in hardening the hearts of kleboldharris lies in the media. From video games to movies, violence and callousness towards violence is everywhere. The shock jock , Howard Stern, was the most distasteful of the crowd. Immediately after the shootings he made comments about the girls running out of Columbine, screaming and waving their arms in the air, as being sexy. He claimed that if he was going to shoot them, he would first have had sex with them. He also made comments about
  • 6. Ronald Reagan Deployed Troops In Grenada On October 25, 1983 Ronald Reagan sent 1,000 troops to the island of Grenada to ensure the safety of Americans studying medicine in the local hospital. In 1979, Maurice Bishop took power in Grenada and had close relations with Cuba which was communist. Bishops was then assassinated by Bernard Coard who established a communist government. This is the reason that Reagan deployed troops in Grenada. He didn t want the influence of a Marxist government on the Americans. Many Americans were unsure of the invasion. But Reagan saw it as a victory because they were able to roll back Communist influence in the area. Coard s government fell apart and the US brought in a leader who was approved by the United States. We also brought back the Grenada
  • 7. Explain How The Invention Of The Light Bulb Changed Life... The main idea of this article is that Nicholas Carr believed that the invention of the light bulb changed life as they knew it. Carr said that the fire was the focal point of the house where the families would gather in the evenings to share time. He explained that when the lightbulb was invented the families spent more times in their own rooms studying, reading, or working alone. In 1944 the germans forced their people to use candles instead of lightbulbs during the nightly air raids because the weak light of the candles were able to hide them better. So, essentially the light bulbs were putting the German people in more danger. The author communicates his idea of the light bulb changing the way we lived in a very effective way by giving
  • 8. Comparing The Jungle And How The Other Half Lives Society has led us to believe that what doesn t kill you actually makes you stronger. That there is no gain without pain. That a man s blood, sweat, and tears will be all worth the struggle. The Roman poet Horace even once said that adversity can bring out talents which in a successful environment, would not exist. With all these assurances that difficult circumstances will meritable, it is hard to picture Horace s statement being challenged. However, in the books, The Jungle, and How the Other Half Lives, adversity clearly never led to any such benefits or talents being drawn out as Horace mentioned. For example, within, The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair, Jurgis, a Lithuanian immigrant, came to America with his family for the American Dream. Eventually, they fall into fiscal trouble, and Jurgis old father, Antennas, is forced to perform grueling work until he dies from it. Additionally, Jurgis struggles to pay for his high interest house, and instead of eliciting a talent, Jurgis elicits harsh resentment for his family. The only dormant thing that was unveiled was his contempt for his family. He hated having so much to worry about and no money for himself. He calls himself a slave to marriage because he longs to be free from responsibility. No talents or abilities came from this misfortune, and the family is never able to pay off the house. One by one, most of his loved ones die because Jurgis is no longer strong enough to support them. If Horace was right, Jurgis would have found a sleeping skill within himself to save the day and help everyone, but that just is not how reality works. Hard times do not mean that one will come out a more skillful person. Horace s words really let Jurgis
  • 9. Juxtaposition In Bless Me Ultima Bright white light of the New Mexico sun bathes and protects the small town of Guadalupe. Like his parents and older brothers before him, young Antonio struggles to find his true inner self as his parents push two family names on him. In Anaya Rudolfo s novel Bless Me, Ultima, Antonio is ultimately a mixture between a Marez and a Luna, as seen through the juxtaposition between the symbols of the moonand the sea, as well as Godand the Golden Carp. The moon that represents the Luna family, and sea which connects to the Marez, are forces which push Antonio to make his final decision about family. In the beginning, Antonio tries his hardest to please both of his parents by combining their dissimilar ideas about his future. Although Antonio begins his life thinking he is a mixture of both parents heritage, the juxtaposition of the symbols in the book changes his mind on that, It is the blood of the Lunas to be quiet... They are quiet like the moon And it is the blood of the MГЎrez to be wild, like the ocean from which they take their name (Anaya 41). Aside from the obvious fact that the Spanish word for moon is, in fact, Luna, that family represents the moon. The calmness of said moon contrasts with the wild men of the sea. Maria is controlling of her family, similar to how the moon controls the sea. Each contrasting idea propels Antonio in separate directions either towards the Luna priests or the Marez vaqueros. Despite the fact that his mother wants to make a priest out of Antonio, the other side of his family thinks in their own unique way, He is a Marez... His forefathers were conquistadors, men as restless as the seas they sailed (Anaya 6). Once again, the contrary sides of Antonio s family pull him to the sea instead of the moon. The true struggle Antonio goes through is choosing his own destiny, even with the strong influences of both the moon and sea. Suddenly he has a moment of realization and tells his uncle, I am Marez, ... That is right, you are a Marez first, then Luna (Anaya 250). Even though he may think he is Marez first, he still lives with Luna blood coursing through his veins. After all, he skipped a grade, which makes him a boy of learning. Then again, his adoration of nature proves
  • 10. Analysis Of Hate Speech This paper is a comparative analysis of hate speech laws between Japan and the United States. I will analyze hate rhetoric stemming from the years 1980 to present day. Today s political climate has generated a rebirth of hate speech in both countries. Hate speech is a concern for those who believe in the right to free speech and expression. I will outline the historical background that expands on the usage of technology that incites hateful rhetoric towards targeted groups residing within these countries, and propose a change in policy making. It is through protest and rallies that they spread slanderous content towards the these individuals. Zaitokukai accuse the Zainichi Koreans of having special legal rights granted to them through the process of their integration into the Japanese society. Japan became an associate of the United Nations International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination in 1995. The reason they joined this particular convention was that the Japanese government wanted to find a way to combat discrimination in the workplace against women and foreign immigrants. Article 4 of the convention sets forth provisions calling for

The development of the global infrastructure has not reduced the physical distance; however, it has certainly helped to overcome it. As a result of these advancements, the cultural exchange around the world has increased leading to some extent of cultural convergence. Is it also reasonable to believe that the same society that was over two century ago is the same one today? By definition, a Living Constitution is one that evolves, changes over time, and adapts to new circumstances, without being formally amended. (Strauss) Through the origins of the Constitution, the history on why the Constitution was written, and the different court cases that has transpired and lead to amendments being added to it will show why the Constitution is considered a living document. (United) This amendment ended slavery in United States which was not originally part of the founders forethought. However this doctrine did not stand for long thus, on May 31, 1955, Warren read the Court s unanimous decision, instructing the states to begin desegregation plans with all deliberate speed. While Browning emphasizes on rhyme, Tennyson focuses on the thoughts of the old and retired pirate, Ulysses. He uses words more to convey the message than to follow grammatical rules. He also uses simple words to describe the profound contrast of his retirement to his kingdom, distanced from the adventurous life he once lived. Thus, the structure uses a mixture of flashback and foreshadowing Ulysses life during the Trojan War, and his son s life after his (Ulysses ) demise. The persona of the poem is Ulysses himself. Just like the Duke in My Last Duchess, he uses dramatic monologue. This is demonstrated when he talks to his soldiers during his past years as an energetic youth. Using the stylistic feature of flashback, he takes readers through his past life, connoting the excitement it brought him. He then brings one back to the present that immensely shows the contrast and equal discontent that Ulysses feels. The flashback also aids in building the image of the poem, in order to identify oneself with the persona. Furthermore, he uses a mixture of archaic and simple words, which is also seen in Browning s

Corinthians 1 Colossian Religion The Church We teach that all who place their faith in Jesus Christ are immediately placed by the Holy Spirit into one united spiritual Body, the church (1 Corinthians 12:12 13), the bride of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 5:23 32; Revelation 19:7 8), of which Christ is the Head (Ephesians 1:22; 4:15; Colossians 1:18). We teach that the formation of the church, the Body of Christ, began on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:1 21, 38 47) and will be completed at the coming of Christ for His own at the rapture (1 Corinthians 15:51 52; 1 Thessalonians 4:13 18). We teach that the church is thus a unique spiritual organism designed by Christ, made up of all born again believers in this present age (Ephesians 2:11 3:6). The church is distinct from Israel (1 Corinthians 10:32), a mystery not revealed until this age (Ephesians 3:1 6; 5:32). We teach that the establishment and continuity of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures (Acts 14:23, 27; 20:17, 28; Galatians 1:2; Philippians 1:1; 1 Thessalonians 1:1; 2 Thessalonians 1:1) and that the members of the one spiritual Body are directed to associate themselves together in local assemblies (1 Corinthians 11:18 20; Hebrews 10:25). United States And The United Kingdom Essay Two of the most powerful democracies in the modern era, the United States and the United Kingdom lead as examples as very successful forms of democratic government. Yet despite both states utilizing democratic governments, both differ greatly on how they operate as a state and through its governmental structure. The Constitution: The U.S created its current constitution after the failures of the Articles of Federation. It created a strong central government that derived its powers from the constitution but also shared powers with state and local governments. The UK on the other hand, does not have a single document that stands as its constitution but instead enacts constitutional provisions over several Acts of Parliament. U.S constitution is extremely difficult to ratify through political means. This contrasts greatly to UK Acts of Parliament which can be changed by a simple majority in the legislature. The most important aspect of the American constitution is the strict separation of powers of the executive, legislature, and the judiciary branches of government. This separation of powers allows each branch to work independently but also allow them to check each other s powers if one branch oversteps their boundaries. Checks and balances within the three branches serve to limit but also connect each to work together while being independent of each other. In the UK however, no such formal separation of powers is present. The Government Minster must be a member of one of the

There are many pollutants producing by human day by day including nitrate, fluoride, pesticides, mercury, lead, arsenic, and nitrite resulting from oil spills, burning of the fossil fuels, dumping waste and sewage of factories, and etc. Among them, nitrite was widely used in the food industry, pharmaceutical and agriculture as an additive in foods due to improve color and flavor, preservative in meat products due to its antimicrobial property, therapeutics and fertilizer. In addition, it was found in vegetables and water by using the nitrate fertilizers and from natural nitrogencycle process as a major active intermediate ion of this cycle producing by reduction of nitrate or oxidation of ammonia. Nitrate has an important role in the formation of N nitrosamines, hazardous compounds to human health, leading to be carcinogens. For example, nitrite reacts easily with amide and amine of foods in the stomach to generate N nitrosamines, resulting in Blue Baby Syndrome, bowel and stomach cancer, and/or bind to hemoglobin of blood, producing methemoglobin who reduces the oxygentransport capability in human blood which causes the leukemia and brain tumor. The Influence Of The Underworld April Sigrest Professor Lenoir English 102 23 October 2017 The Influence of the Underworld In Yuri Herrera s Signs Preceding the End of the World, a number of the ideas discussed contribute to the themes Herrera is trying to communicate; one of those ideas is the underworld. Throughout the novel, several underworlds are described, such as the physical underworld mentioned in the beginning when a sinkhole opens up in a city and brings destruction, but a main underworld that we do not often consider is the criminal underworld. Featuring what Herrera labels as the top dogs, the criminal underworld described in Signs Preceding the End of the World showcases all of the bad things that happen or, put simply, where crimes occur (Herrera 12).... With Mr. Aitch, there was no land for Makina s brother, and with Mr. Q, he never intended on having Makina come back to Mexico; he planned for her to stay in the United States, giving her everything necessary to stay there. These two characters are accurate representations of influences in the criminal underworld. They both impact Makina and Makina s brother to the point where they both find themselves residing in a different country, even though they both had intentions on returning back to Mexico. In fact, one of the first mentions of Makina s brother describes how he was determined to return. We do not see much of Makina s brother too early in the story, but we do get a little background information on him. With this background information, it becomes clear to the audience how easy it is to have our minds changed by the criminal underworld. Herrera describes that because Makina s brother learned of a possible land that his family owned, he gathered up a few things, insisting someone s got to fight for what s [their own] (Herrera 29). We find out with this information that one of the top dogs, Mr. Aitch, was the reason Makina s brother ventured to America. Note that in this case the Vrfy oracle behaves exactly the same to the actual Vrfy alogrithm, and the adversary cannot use the Vrfy oracle to increase its probability of success (see comparison below for further clariп¬Ѓcation). To rephrase this, an oracle access to Vrfy does not augment the adversary s power. If the Mac scheme is probabilistic there exist muiltple tags that one message can possibly correspond to. Hence, in sharp contrast to the deterministic case, the adversary cannot be certain of exactly which tag corresponds the message. Now, with an oracle access to Vrfy, the adversary can simply query this oracle to eliminate some of the possible tags, therefore dramatically increase the probability of success (Roughly speaking, multiplied by the number of all possible corresponding tags. But this is limited to polynomial many). That being said, an adversary with oracle access to Vrfy is more powerful than one without such access. (The adversary can still output any message m previously queried to the oracle! The deп¬Ѓnition says nothing about this.) Rather than demolishing the binary, women writers redefine themselves by travelling between the two extremes through alternately defining themselves as angel women or as monster women (Gilbert Gubar, 44) and through creating dark doubles for themselves and their heroines (Gilbert Gubar, 79). Common fears may be heights or spiders; some would rationally go out of their way to avoid these, but this is quite different from having a phobia. A phobia is an irrational distress with a particular object or concept /idea. Although fears are well known now, they do not have to disrupt the lives of those who are living them. Much has been said regarding this ancient civilization within the context of the continent of Africa. And, to Khnum, the divine potter, who modeled men and things from clay on his potter s wheel.5 It is within this framework that the Egyptians conceived of what it meant to be human. A distinction was made between the aspects of a human being of that which was eternal and that which was subject to cycles of death and rebirth. According to funerary texts, humans are composed of a mortal body, called the kha, and three immortal elements known as the akh, ba, and ka. • 31. Social Communication And Human Characteristics Of Social... It is extremely important to understand the traits of social media and the human factors impacting technology because if we did not, there would be a lot more miscommunications and misunderstandings between people. For example, social media users need to understand that social media communication is limited compared to face to face communication. Factors such as Temporal Structure, which is the time it takes to send and receive a message, affect how effective social media communication is. Also, Asynchronous communication, which is communication that occurs when participants are not co present, could cause communication problems because the people who are communicating might not be as involved in a conversation. Tone and other signs that people give off to relay emotions and messages are not present in many social communication forms as well. There are three key steps in the Perception Process. The first is to Observe someone s behavior and determine what the behavior means. The second is to describe the behavior to the person objectively. It is important to not show any approval or disapproval to their actions in this step. Next, you explain your personal perception of the behavior. This step is very important because you let the person know how YOU feel, and this will allow them to respond to your feelings accordingly. It is also important to be ready to change or alter your perception based on the person s reaction to your perception checking process. Automatic social cognition or perception means that someone is arriving to conclusions about situations, people, or themselves, without much conscious awareness or intention on what the future effects might be. On the other hand, conscious or controlled cognition means that someone is stopping to think about something intentionally, because they realise that their thoughts can affect what happens in a situation. This means that automatic social cognition is always happening and can lead to someone making decisions and judgements that are not very thought out or reasonable. One time I made the automatic and unconscious assumption that someone was weird just because they watched Japanese cartoons, I told my friend and this ended up spreading to the person I was

In face recognition Features extracted from a face are processed and compared with similarly processed faces present in the database. If a face is recognized it is known or the system may show a similar face existing in database else it is unknown. Face recognition has been a topic of active research since the 80 s, proposing solutions to several practical problems. It has been a challenging job for the researchers to develop a facial recognition system with 100% accuracy because of all the difficulties and limitations. As we know that the human face changes after a short period of time so no facial recognition system can work perfectly after a few years. It has to be updated with the latest database images of the person in order to verify the person. Also wearing spectacles, mask, mustaches may also affect the output of the face recognition system. Face recognition is a biometric which is much easier to understand, because we recognize or identify different people mostly by their faces. However the recognition process used by the human brain for identifying faces has not a concrete explanation. It has now become essential to have reliable security systems in

Tobacco use is a health related topic that needs further education and intervention from a nurse. Group discussion and demonstration, and return demonstration are two teaching methods of interest to me, which I believe will be beneficial to use when educating a small group of five people about this health related topic are. Group discussion involves the deliverance of medical information or education to a small group of individuals which may include their family so information, opinions can be exchanged with the nurse. This is simple way to deliver information to more than one person at one time if time management is a concern, and the nurse is able to build trust and rapport with the group as a whole. Demonstration and return demonstration works more effectively in a small group and involves education or teaching with the nurse and learner(s). This method also allows time for feedback from both parties. The nurse gives the learner a demonstration of a task to perform and the learner has to attempt to carry out the task back showing competence, and the nurse is on standby to give cues as needed. • 41. Musical Infant Development My reaction to the musical infant and their musical abilities is that in spite of the studies already made, still there are unresolved questions. One issue in discussion for example is if an infant can hear in the womb. Indeed, even in the womb there is proof that babies react to a wide range of sound. Medical studies have concluded that a fetus can hear from the third semester. In a 1980 testing Anthony J. De Casper and William P. Fifer found that some rudimentary cognition starts at this point and a close connection with the mother as well. Besides, the inclination that infants have for music have a hereditary component and an additional environmental factor (Trehub, 2001). There are behaviors present in the baby that demonstrate that they are not inactive audience members, they deliver their own particular coordinated sounds moving head and limbs in light of specific sounds. This is particularly genuine when there is communication with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The similarities, assuming any, between the two are that both are sound related and musical to some degree. Both language and music have rules that must be followed in order to make musical and communicative thoughts understandable to others. Researchers explain that in both music and in discourse patterns there are two components that work together rhythm and pitch. There is an association then in the minds of numerous individuals that there is prosody in speech (a characteristic ascent and fall of the voice and rhythmic qualities). This is like components in music. As per Jusczyk and Hohne, The latter half of the infant s first year is a critical point in acquiring a language (p. 1984).The infant needs to perceive the speech of people around them, picking up patterns and sort out them in a manner that it makes sense and can be retrieved. Finally, infants should be translators of what they listen, so that when they are capable, they can express and

  • 44. Outsourcing Of The United States According to Investopedia, outsourcing is a practice used by different companies to reduce costs by transferring portions of work to outside suppliers rather than completing it internally (Investopedia, n.d). Companies use outsourcing to reduce costs and improve productivity. In the 1970 s and 1980 s was when companies first began looking for alternatives to increase their profits and increase the production of their products (Narayanan, 2015). Products were becoming to expensive to make in the United Statesand other lesser developed countries were less expensive, and that is why the United States turned to China for production. There are lots of other reasons for outsourcingsuch as gaining access to new markets, gaining global knowledge, focusing on their core business practices, and being closer to their resources. Gaining access to new markets happens because the company is moving production abroad, and they are in a whole new area. When they begin production in this area, the people of that country are opened up to that new idea. Also gaining global knowledge is very similar to gaining access to new markets. With the company being in a new country they learn a lot about that country. They need to learn practices, customs, language, etc. If that company doesn t learn customs, beliefs, or practices then they can offend the citizens of that country, and then their company will not be as successful. If a company decides to outsource, they also can focus on their core

  • 46. Taking a Look at Social Cognition Social cognition is a fascinating topic which stands at the threshold of much important sociological research. Researchers have spent considerable amounts of time exploring the encoding and processing of social cues in aggressive children s interactions with other people. They hypothesize and studies tend to support the idea that these children feature disproportionately aggressive responses to certain social cues. Two studies conducted in the 1980 s explain the existence of poor social cognition skills or at least poor social reactions in aggressive children. Both of these studies did, in fact, find that the more aggressive male children respond more aggressively in two specific situations. An aggressive child is one who frequently answers certain social cues with aggressive verbal, physical or emotional reactions. The aggressive boys reacted aggressively when 1) prompted with an aggressive cue, and 2) prompted with an ambiguous cue. Nonaggressive boys did not feature this skewed reaction to ambiguous prompts. These trends suggest that aggressive boys do not only react aggressively in situations which are less clearly threatening, but also that aggressive boys are significantly more likely to attribute aggressive intentions to the actions of other peers. This second observation is also specifically in cases which feature ambiguous cues. Based on this last finding, it was also determined that environmental conditions specifically threatening ones have a
  • 47. Enrichment In Zoos And Aquariums Zoos and aquariums are some of the most fun and educational places to visit. However its rare to see just how much care and work goes into keeping animals happy and healthy. The number one goal for any zoo or aquarium should be the wellbeing of its inhabitants. With advancements in research on enrichment and 3d printing in veterinary care, this field is taking steps to provide animals with care even better than before. Enrichment is an incredibly important when it comes to overall health and wellbeing of an animal. Enrichment is anything that provokes natural behavior by mental or physical stimulus. This is common practice in most zoological facilities and is primarily provided for mammals and birds. However recent research suggest that enrichment could be beneficial for reptiles and amphibians. Reptiles and amphibians have been stereotyped as rather simple minded with little personality and minimal care needs According to Burghardt One study did formally study the effects of enrichment in altering the behavior of yearling rat snakes (Pantherophis) (Almli and Burghardt, 2006). We used 16 snakes from two clutches of eggs from both yellow ratsnakes and black ratsnakes. Half of each clutch were raised with more complex environments with substrate for burrowing and branches for climbing and fed live mice; the other half were raised in standard situations with dead prey, no climbing opportunities, and a solid substrate. The sizes of the enclosures were the same for both groups.

The same honor waits for the coward and the brave. They both go down to Death, the fighter who shirks, the one who works to exhaustion. (IX,385 88) Thus muses Achilles, one of epic poetry s greatest heroes. Epic poetry, one of the earliest forms of literature, began as an oral narration describing a series of mythical or historic events. Eventually, these stories were written down and read aloud to an audience. Although the Epic of Gilgamesh was composed approximately fifteen hundred years prior to the Iliad, the heroes of both epics possess strikingly similar characteristics. Indeed, ... Achilles, on the other hand, is a famous warrior, feared by many, who the Achaians depend on to win the war. Even his enemy, Agamemnon, recognizes Achilles strength when he declares, That man is worth an entire army, / the fighter Zeus holds dear with all his heart (IX, 141 42). Although they are each strong, courageous and favorite sons of the gods, Gilgamesh and Achilles share the same tragic flaw: overweening pride. Gilgamesh must prove his strength and superiority by being first with the women and by physically overpowering the men. The elders of his kingdom suggest that he is unbearable when they mutter, His arrogance has no bounds by day or night (14). And Achilles anger at Agamemnon and his hurt pride only serve to escalate the conflict during the Trojan War. Due to Agamemnon s mistreatment of him, Achilles refuses to fight stating, I swear, a yearning for Achilles will strike / Achaea s sons and all your armies! . . . Then / then you will tear your heart out, desperate, raging/ that you disgraced the best of the Achaeans (I, 281 87). Another quality that the two heroes share and that softens their strong characters is loyalty to a friend. Gilgamesh is so embittered by the death of his friend Enkidu that he risks his life crossing over the waters of death in an attempt to bring Enkidu
  • 49. The Effect Of Emotion Coaching On Children And Children... Parent emotion coaching helps children to integrate their right brain with their left brain for healthy development of emotion regulation. However, parents are required to be self aware of their own emotions for positive results when emotion coaching their children. Emotion coaching improves children s ability to self calm and label their feelings; in addition, it fosters emotional health as parents teach their children to express emotions especially when facing conflicting and difficult situations. Emotion coaching programs assist both parents and children with emotion dysregulation by breaking their negative behavioral patterns resulting in improved behavioral conduct. Children diagnosed with ADHD and ODD experience beneficial results with parent emotion coaching. Introduction Emotion coaching assists parents in recognizing the significance of their children s emotions by being receptive and accepting through spoken directives as children learn how to appropriately express and cope with their own emotions (Dunsmore, Booker, Ollendick, 2013). In addition, emotion coaching works when parents are equipped with self awareness of their own emotions and that of their children (Lauw, Havighurst, Wilson, Harley, Northam, 2014). These parents understand the importance of spending time with their children to build the bridge of intimacy while assisting in the development of placing names on emotions and teaching self comforting, empathy towards others, and setting

  • 51. Willa Cather Research Paper 1. Willa Cather 2. Willa Cather and the Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne 3. The Barn Burner 4. A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner 1. Willa Cather seems to take issue with the bland and boring nature of realism above all else. She notes that realism is not in itself an artistic expression, yet so many art forms from literature to paintings particularly from her time period portray little more than the realism of our world. In her mind, the literalness that is realism can be successfully integrated in art, but it must be done in a specific way for it to qualify as true art. The literalism needs to fuse with the emotions and experiences of the characters and simply remain as a simple component of the artistic experience rather than the entire focus. The novelists and other artists of her time that she mentions and feels have placed too much focus on realism in their work are not real artists in her mind. Overall it seems that Cather believed that the growing prominence of realism within art forms in her time was leading to their downfall and their loss of true artistic expression. As she stated within The Novel DГ©meublГ©, If the novel is a form of imaginative art, it cannot be at the same time a vivid and brilliant form of journalism (par. 7). Through this quote, she is essentially getting her aforementioned message across by comparing realism in art to mere journalism the mere relaying of facts and realities without a shred of creativity or imagination

Country History of Afghanistan Country History of Afghanistan Throughout history Afghanistan has served as a focal point for the movement of people, goods, and ideas due to its central location linking East Asia with that of the Arabian Peninsula. The land has seen conflict and warfare with the passage of great empires to include those of Alexander the Great, the Ghaznavids, three Anglo Afghan wars, the Soviet Afghan war, as well as the GWOT, of which Afghanistanplays an integral role. The independent, fractious, and culturally diverse Afghanistan we see today is a direct derivative of its unique history and geography which has been dominated by external influence for centuries. Early written history of Afghanistan reaches back to the time of Alexander the Great (c. 330 BCE). Afghanistan has been occupied by multiple empires throughout its history and has enjoyed significant trade hubs due to its location along the Silk Road, most notably the Afghan cities of Balkh and Herat, the latter of which continues to be of economic significance due to its proximity to Iran. For the purposes of this paper we will examine the recent history of Afghanistan which encompasses the 20th and 21st centuries, however, it is important to note that significant outside interference has affected the sovereignty of Afghanistan throughout its history. The present day borders are a direct result of the Durrani Empire which ruled for nearly a century until British intervention in what quickly became known as The Great Game,
