Lou Gehrig Rhetorical Devices
Lou Gehrig uses several rhetorical devices in his speech. These rhetorical devices include
understatement, anaphora, epistrophe, book ending, but he also uses rhetorical questions and appeals
to pathos. On July 4th, 1939 at Yankee Stadium an audience of 60,000 people gathered to honor Lou
Gehrig with a farewell ceremony. Lou Gehrig was diagnosed with ALS which forced him to retire so
the players of the 1927 New York Yankees as well as the current team of 1939 showered Gehrig with
gifts, though he didn t want to be honored. Lou Gehrig uses and understatement when referring to his
ALS as a bad break . ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder in which muscle cells are

Asymmetricistic Impact On Graphic Design
THE IMPACT OF THE INTERNATIONAL TYPOGRAPHIC STYLE ON WEB DESIGN
INTRODUCTION The International Typographic Style, or Swiss Style, invokes to the graphic design
movement that emerged in Switzerland during the 1950s, after the Second World War, in a particular
social, economical and industrial context.
Through emphasizing clarity of information, the International Style is characterized by a range of
specific visual hallmarks. This movement is especially marked by the creation and use of grids and
sans serif typefaces.
Admired for its simple, clean, factual, neutral and highly mathematical structured approach to
organizing and presenting information, it became a new revolution in the world of graphic design and
especially in web design. Indeed, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It serves as a framework for designers to organize their information and make it clear. Inspired by the
Constructivism approach, Swiss designers preferred asymmetrical layouts and used the grid as an
organization tool to provide an overall orderly and unified structure.
The grid serves as an armature on which designers can organize text and images in a rational, easy to
absorb manner.
The use of photography is another important characteristic of this movement. Swiss designers were
influenced by the modernist idea in which photography was a better tool to show reality than drawings
and illustrations.
Keeping white spaces is essential for Swiss designers because it helps to perceive the different groups
of the content. In a format, the right amount of white spaces at the good places can create a first good
impression and can motivate visitors to read through the web page. So, white spaces are important for
a good design and the Swiss style design lays a lot of emphasis on it. This style promotes the use of
big white spaces between texts to differentiate them and to give a boost to the whole design. It also
suggests the use of white spaces between images to improve the look of the

The New World Order
There are many topics that may labeled as unproven belief, whether there is truly lack of information
to cover it or the information on such topics is highly classified. One of the main unproven beliefs that
catch everyone s attention is the New World Order assuming that there is nearly 1% of the citizens, so
called elite power, who own 90% of the world, including realty, factories and governments. There has
not been much information on One World Order until recently, when a mass leak slipped into
journalists hands.
New World Order is something people suspected for a while, but there has never been enough proof to
make it legit. Even today, more and more people are considered with this unproven belief, however,

This is a nightmare for an average American, as so many people have lost their beloved in the 9/11
attack and every American still remembers what they were doing at the exact moment when they ve
heard about the attack. If people admit that the attack was planned by, let s say Rockefeller family and
other members of Bilderberg group, this means that whatever the country was fighting for was fake.
This means that this War on Terror that American has led for more than a decade is a fraud, planned by
the Bilderberg group in order to invade other countries resources. The One World Order proponents
also believe that among the main purposes of the elite power is reduce the world population at least by
half. This actually reminds of Nazis again and the interesting thing is how they decide who is going to

Benefits Of Implementing The Parental Leave Policy
The United States and the United States Army had made several revisions to the paternity/ maternity
leave policies. Even with current changes we are not where we need to be. The United States Army
currently offers 10 days of paternity leave to Soldiers that are married¹ and 12 weeks of maternity
leave for female Soldiers.² The Army should convert these two policies into one policy titled parental
leave. Some of the benefits of implementing the parental leave policy are mother s physical and
mental readiness, increased performance, and equality.
Maternity leave is to allow for the women to heal after delivering a baby. Having the father/ spouse
home during the first ten days is helpful but not enough time. The father/ spouse being present can
allow for them to take on some of the child rearing activities. These activities can range from bathing,
diapering, feeding and etc. This helping hand will allow for the mother to get more rest aiding in a
faster recovery, provide breaks from child rearing that reduces the likeness of postpartum depression
and create more flexibility. Parental leave will provide the ability for the father/ spouse to support the
maternal mother through the duration of her medical recovery, which is an average of six weeks. This
can be a stressful time as the female body regulates its hormones. Another important medical factor is
the father/ spouse can help monitor the mother s signs and symptoms and get the help if necessary. In
addition, having both

Essay on A History of the 714th Tank Battalion
A History of the 714th Tank Battalion, 1942 45
The men of the 714th Tank Battalion served their country in its greatest time of need. A key element of
the 12th Armored Division, the 714th fought in harsh conditions against a desperate German enemy
for five consecutive months, driving the Nazi Armies from France and back into the German
heartland.
The 12th Armored Division was activated on 15 September 1942 at a freshly built Camp Campbell,
Kentucky, and soldiers from across the nation began arriving to fill the division s ranks on 24 October
1942. The governors of both Kentucky and Tennessee participated in the activation ceremonies, in
which Major General Carlos Brewer was named commander of the forming division.

on the 16th and 17th of July, 1943, to stage the Division s first corps level problem with the IV Corps,
Second Army. The 12th Armored had been assigned to IV Corps the previous month.
In August 1943 the 12th Armored Division executed two exercises in preparation for the Tennessee
Maneuvers, which were to start in September. The first was a crossing of the Cumberland River, an
amphibious operation lasting approximately four days. The second exercise, involving four days of air
ground tactical training, developed upon the Division s return to Camp Campbell The various units of
the 12th Armored began to move south for the Tennessee Maneuvers on 3 September 1943. The 12th
participated in eight of the Tennessee Maneuvers operations, which lasted from 6 September to the
first of November, 1943.
After the Tennessee Maneuvers the Division was reassigned to Camp Barkeley, Texas, and ordered to
streamline its forces. Major General Carlos Brewer removed the regimental organizations in the
division, and replaced them with smaller, self supporting battalions. The smaller battalions were

Effects Of Social Networking On Youth And Middle Age Adults
There are many effects on social networking. In my research paper, I will explain some of those
effects, as well as providing examples. A few social media s I will be going over will be Instagram,
Facebook Twitter. What is social networking? It s an easier and quick way of communication for the
youth middle age adults. From my understanding, social media was built to help people connect
outside their normal lives, stay connected with those they ve met thru work, meetings etc. Also, to find
people that were lost and no one had heard from them in over 20 years. How does this effect society? I
chose this topic because; I m a witness to the effect of social network. I wanted to research different
people s aspects of others on their view, due to the near future. I will be focusing on three main topics;
cyber bullying, online abusers, academic achievement downfall. According to various studies,
scientists evaluation determines that social isolation can lead to a host of emotional, psychological,
physical mental problems; which can include anxiety, depression somatic complaints among many
others (speech prosody, 2012). The first effect I will be discussing is cyber bullying. What is cyber
bullying? Cyber bulling in so many words is internet harassment, but the true definition for this
research paper is; bullying that takes place using electronic technology (stop bullying/cyber bulllying).
To begin there are a lot of reasons why social networking causes cyber

SOM Teacher Observation
After completing the SOLOM teacher observation assignment I received great information about
where my student stands and what areas he has room for improvements so that I can better his
learning. My student has great comprehension skills. This is definitely his strongest skill out of the
other four. He understood all directions given to him. He did have trouble understanding one word on
his quiz so he asked his teachers for help. Under comprehension, I would give him a 4. He was able to
understand what the teacher was saying and had no trouble on neither his quiz or test. If he was able to
comprehend his quiz fully I would have given him a 5.
One area where my student struggle was fluency. During the class, he asked a question and he had
trouble making a complete sentence. I gave my student a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He only missed 4 out of 10 questions on his vocabulary test. I would rate his vocabulary skills at a 3.
The only reason why I gave my student a 3 and not a 4 is because he still struggled to understand
some of the vocabularies that was on the quiz and struggled using the right words in his conversations.
His pronunciation is definitely one of the biggest areas for improvements. I would rate my student at a
2 under pronunciation because at times it is very hard to understand him. There are certain sounds that
he picks up right away and knows how to use it in a sentence. He is still able to say what is on his
mind and you are still able to understand what he is saying; it is just difficult at times to understand
him.
Grammar is another area where my student did well at. After looking over his journal writing for the
day there were very few little mistakes. The teacher said that she is amazed at how well he can write
for how long he has been in school in the US. I would rate his grammar score at 4. There were still
some errors in his writing but overall did really

The Changing Role of Organizational Performance Measurement System
How to create and measure organizational performance measurement system has been a persistent
source of debate. Traditionally, organizational performance management system included measuring
financial ratios, such as return on investments, cash flows, and cost of sales.
Figure one below depicts traditional performance indicators, focused mostly on financial measures.

In the recent years the focus has been on measuring non financial ratios, such as quality, customer

My Long Term Goal Is My Life
I would love to get back into running. It used to be a passion of mine, a way to relieve stress, kept me
in shape, and maintained my weight. Since I have stopped running there s no motivation for physical
activity, I m out of shape, and gained weight. My long term goal is to get back into running everyday.
It will put me back into a healthy lifestyle and will make me feel better over all.
If I do not return to running it will affect my physical health by making me gain more weight, and
continue to be out shape. This can make me become lazy. Socially it has affected me because I pushed
the friends I had away that I used to run with. I was ashamed to tell them that I was getting lazy.
Running used to help me clear my mind and allowed me to focus on priorities, but now that I have
stopped, I no longer can fully clear my mind. This is affecting my ability to perform my best in school.
Without running everyday, spiritually I feel like I ve just been going through the motions of life, but
not really living up to my potential. Since I pushed away all my friend who supported my running, I
do not have an environment that is supportive of physical activity. All of these factors are making me
live an unhealthy lifestyle.
If I do return to running I will lose the weight I gained, and be in shape. I would be surrounded with
people who support me living a healthy lifestyle. I would be a lot less stressed and would be thinking
a lot clearer. I will actually be able to remember

Desert Biome
Desert Biomes
Denton4
Deserts are mostly found in the east but a few are also found in the western region of the Americas.
They are very hot places with low moisture and barren waste lands. When you think desert what
normally jumps into your head is sand cactus and clear skies with the sun beating down on you. The
maximum temperature for a desert can climb up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature in winter
only drops a few degrees and it receives a small amount of humidity. The average amount of rainfall
year round is less than 15 cm. Vegetation is very rare, it s mostly restricted to ground hugging shrubs
and woody trees. All the leaves are replete. Typical animals include small nocturnal carnivores. There
are also insects, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They will eat insects and reptiles. Most coyotes live alone or in pairs, but may live in larger groups.
Mainly their only predator is mountain lions, but more recently it is developing into humans as well.
There are many ways human activities can impact the desert biome, at least where there is an existing
ecosystem. Development by mining or residential use is one way, as would be diverting the limited
water supplies for agricultural use elsewhere. Humans can damage the desert ecosystem if they use the
areas for recreation in an unwise fashion.
Off road riding (4x4 and dirt bikes) can damage desert plants and pollute the soil, as well as disrupting
the activities of wildlife. Diverting water supplies, which are already likely scarce, can prevent
infrequent rainfall from reaching the native plants. Killing rodents or predators that invade farms
impacts the food chain that exists in the desert. Although it may not appear so, most deserts support
fragile ecosystems that are easily damaged by roads, mineral refuse, or oil contamination that can
come from industries or mines.

Lil Kim Research Paper
Lil Kim is the self made success story of a woman who worked hard to make a career for herself, but
who also fits into the objectified sex symbol most hip hop feminists ridicule. Kim became one of the
most distinctive female voices in the late 1990s, and was pop culture s most notorious hip hop queen
of rap music. She made use of some of the most powerful tools black women in hip hop have to
combat the stereotype of black feminine sexuality. Black women are seen as hypersexual, Jezebels,
who will use the power of sex to get what they want. Since the beginning of her career she kept the
image of being a Queen Bee , a sex symbol that combines her music, along with the words and images
she raps, to resemble a hip hop feminist. Her raps reflected about everything that men use to imprison
women while she is imprisoned with them. Lil Kim s explicit raps marked the pinnacle of female

Perioperative Observation
Perioperative Observation Paper
During my observation, I followed the patient from her preparation of surgery, into the operating
room, to recovery. I gain insight on what happens during surgeries from nurses, surgeons, and other
hospital staff. This experience was much different than any other clinical I have gone to. After having
first hand experience, I now know that surgery is nothing like what is portrayed on television.
Background Inquiry
The procedure that I observed was a total knee replacement of the left knee, and it was for a patient
who was suffering from osteoarthritis. The only allergy that this patient had was to quinidine, an
antiarrhythmic agent and anti parasite agent, irrelevant to her osteoarthritis. Other than osteoarthritis,
this patient was generally healthy and did not have any other health conditions or comorbidities that
would impact this surgery or any other activities of daily living.
The Pathophysiology The knee is a hinge joint which is needed for movement. The joint is made by
the femur and the tibia, and also contains the patella which acts as a shield for the joint. In knees with
osteoarthritis, the cartilage on the ends of the bones deteriorates, causing the bones to rub against each
other. X rays can be used for the diagnosis of osteoarthritis; the images would reveal damage and
other changes related to osteoarthritis. With osteoarthritis of the knees, the patient would experience
progressively increasing pain, stiffness, and they would

Racial Disparities And Discrimination In Boyz In The Hood
Discrimination has created racial disparities and segregation; as a result, many neighborhoods that
have been labeled as the hood have primarily black residents. Unfortunately, children born into these
neighborhoods suffer a predisposition to violence, drugs, and gang affiliation due to patterns of
violence and the lack of adequate resources. The movie Boyz in the Hood portrays the struggles
experienced by young black men as they grow up in the ghetto of Los Angeles. This movie accurately
depicts the patterns of violence and crime, lack of adequate resources, and government corruption
found within many poor, segregated neighborhoods.
A battlefield of violence and crime exists among segregated neighborhoods, especially for young
black men. According to the movie, 1 out of every 21 black American males will be murdered in their
lifetime. Within these neighborhoods, people are consumed by poverty and hatred which results in an
ongoing cycle of violence among the members of the community. Even young children are exposed to
violence and crime, and many of them participate in criminal behavior. In the beginning of the movie,
a group of ten year old children were walking through their neighborhood and witnessed an area
where a man was shot. One of the boys said I m not afraid to get shot, both my brothers are shot and
they still alive . According to an article by Zimmerman Messner (2013) urban youths have a 50% to

accomplished, that will be considered as unconditional (FASB ASC 958 605 25 12). According to
FASB ASC 958 605 25 14, in circumstances with unclear stipulations that are not clearly
unconditional shall be presumed to be a conditional promise. FASB ASC 958 605 25 15 further
explains that a lack of a designated time to transfer the asset, by itself, shall not deem to be an
ambiguous transaction. An intent to give that is tacit about payment stipulations but otherwise are
obviously without condition shall be understood as an unconditional promise to give. Contributions
received shall be recognized as revenues or gains in the period received and as assets, decreases of
liabilities, or expenses depending on the form of the benefits received (FASB ASC 958 605 25 2).

This means that the one who will receive will only be entitled to the asset if it has overcome the
barrier. The proposed guidelines include the following list of gauge to identify a barrier: First, it
includes an agreement that is measurable and with an attached time limit. The second indicator is, the
stipulation is related to the purpose of the agreement itself. The third is, there are limitations on the
part of the one who will receive with regards on how the assets should be spent. Lastly, the agreement

Information flows around the world
Marshall McLuhan, a Canadian philosopher of communication theory, developed the concept of the
term Global Village in two of his earliest books The Gutenberg Galaxy, in 1962, and Understanding
Media: The Extension of Man, in 1964.
He defined global village as a small village where electronic media made it possible, and how the
information flows from parts of the world at the same time (Mcluhan, 1964).
No matter how far or near of anything happen around the globe, people can see and hear of what have
been occurred immediately, with just matter of seconds. Electronic media, Mcluhan said, made people
aware of and respond to issues happened around the globe as if it happen in the same village people

According to Fraser, Nance (1992, p. 110), Public Sphere is a theater in modern societies in which
political participation is enacted through the medium of talk . Participatory democracy is a core
concept of the public sphere. It is where people come to together to form a public opinion, and that it
affects to political action.
The only legitimate governments are governments that have its laws and policies shifted by the public
opinion of the public sphere (Benhabib, 1992). Democratic governance rests on the capacity of and
opportunity for citizens to engage in enlightened debate (Hauser, 1998, p.83).
In addition, both concepts of the public sphere and the global village have put a concentration and
demonstrate the importance of the use of the media.
According to Habermas (1962), the public sphere was set up and happened in many locations such as
coffee shops, salons, somewhere in society where individuals could assemble and talk of public
matters. With the emergence of the bourgeois public sphere, there is a publishing enterprise,
newspaper, where the formed public opinions of people are bridged to government and other societies.
Newspaper has been a main tool to use in the public sphere.
Later on, According to Habermas (1962), with the emergence of the capitalist system, people more
concern with their consumption rather than the political action. So, media has become an arena for
commercialization and advertising. In addition, the development of the

Examples Of Racism In America
Racism is the belief that all members of each race possess characteristics or abilities specific to that
race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races. Racism in
America started about the 15th century between the Americans and Africans, and it is seen in various
cities today. This was due to the Atlantic Slave trade which was the transportation of enslaved
Africans to the New World, America. As a result, the class discrimination perceived here is an ideal
example of racism. Therefore, bigotry can comprise of a variety of problems, harsh consequences, and
at the same time created evolutionary anti racist organizations.
Apartheid consists of a bountiful amount of issues and disagreements. Racism was arduous as it
created many restrictions for specific people. These limitations included amount of land, certain places
for visiting, and regulated education. In America, many Africans had to follow these constraints as the
Americans had considered themselves as leaders. Furthermore, these restraints developed a major race
discrimination between the Americans and Africans. As a result, this led to many crimes such as

A common job seen for most Africans was immensely hard work on the lands, and in result received a
small wage. In addition, many Africans were slaves which resulted in painstaking work as they were a
different race. Many other punishments were murder and beatings to Africans if they had not followed
the restrictions or laws that were set for them. Africans have a more probable chance of going to jail
compared to an American. The U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics concluded that an African American
male born in 2001 has a 32% chance of going to jail in his lifetime, and a white male only has a 6%
chance. Thus, harsh consequences and different natures among varied races was a major cause in

The Global Impact Of The National Basketball Association
Introduction to NBA
The National Basketball Association is the premier most professional basketball league in America, it
is formed by 30 franchised member clubs spread in 29 countries inside the U.S and one in Canada.
The NBA is also part of USA Basketball which is part of FIBA or International Basketball Federation.
Going back to its beginnings, the league was first founded in 1946, New York City, and at first it was
called the Basketball Association of America (BAA), but later on the leagues name was changed to
NBA(National Basketball Association) after merging with NBL(National Basketball League).
Creation and development of NBA
Third of August, 1949, after many years of battle, the two rival leagues of basketball called BAA
(Basketball Association of America) and NBL (National Basketball League) merged to form the most

The Global Impact of the NBA
When it comes to the global impact of the NBA, I think that media and technology are the biggest
factors, and the main reason I say this is that because of technology people around the world can get
information s, updates and news on NBA at any time, can watch NBA games live and highlights. So
we can say that NBA s impact on the world would be considered minimal if it were not up to the
technology and advanced techniques that are being used more and more these days.
A perfect example of this, perhaps more than any other in the global impact of the NBA is the former
Chinese big man Yao Ming. Ming was a former basketball player who played for the Houston
Rockets, previously first steps to his basketball career were at the Shanghai Sharks of Chinese
basketball of association. A former first pick(first round) he went down to history as one of the best
centers to ever play and because of him the cooperation between countries is another impact that the
NBA has provided

Impact Of Immigration Reform In The 1920s-1960s
The period of 1920 1970 represented a period of numerous competing immigration policies and a
major debate about whether or not to reform immigration. Eventually, the reformers won the debate
and the immigration reform that happened during the 1920s 1960s were consistent with American
identity. Specifically, the reframing Asians as model minorities, the immigration reform policies that
happened, and the allowance of Mexican immigration into the U.S shifted American identity, from as
an all white country to a multicultural society, from restrictive on immigration to expansive on
immigration and finally from a restrictive country to a more democratic country.
The immigration reform policies that happened during the 1920s 1960s shifted American identity for
several reasons. First, according to the article Strangers in Cold War America: The Modern
Presidency, Committee Barons and Postwar Immigration Politics by Daniel J Tiechnor, pro
immigration activists advocated that America no longer exclude Chinese immigrants and offer them
100 visa slots. ( Tiechnor, 177). Therefore, America is perceived to be diverse in this manner by no
longer excluding Chinese. This action shifted American identity from an all white country to a diverse
country. Furthermore, the immigration reformers such as Truman wanted to reform immigration
policy to abide by the Black Civil Rights movement because it is important to achieving world peace
and it would be consistent with the vision of a democratic

Schizophrenia: A Traumatic Illness
Dan Hoeweler a schizophrenic poet writes in his poem Blast off to Insanity , They say I am mad/ that I
am evil/ and creepy/ that my genes are corrupted/ and my brain is deformed/ that my actions are
freaky/ that my behavior is not the norm... Dementia Praecox: a psychotic disorder characterized by
loss of contact with the environment, by noticeable deterioration of functioning in everyday life, and
by disintegration of one s personality. What we know as schizophrenia today has been around for at
least two centuries, but not named until the early 1900 s by Kraepelin. In order to fully understand this
disease you need to know the types and symptoms, the causes, and the treatment and recovery.
Schizophrenia is a disease that is on a spectrum, there are five different subtypes. Paranoid
schizophrenia is when a person is delusional and suspicious of others plotting against them or their
family members. Disorganized schizophrenia also known as hebephrenia includes hallucinations as
well as illogical and incoherent thought and behaviors. Little or no interest in things, withdrawing and
being in a constant daze describes catatonic schizophrenia. Residual schizophrenia includes not being
motivated in life anymore, it is an acute version of the illness. Depression is associated with
schizoaffective disorder, with them both having to do with frequent mood changes. All of these
different types shows that there are a variety of schizophrenics.

Transpiration Lab Report
Transpiration with Solanum lycopersicum
Kimberly Smith
Jenna Portier, Aaliyah Hebert, Marie LaSalle, Krystal Bellanger, Thea Martin
September 11, 2017
Biology 156 3T1 Abstract
This lab deals with the transpiration rates in plants, specifically a tomato plant that was used for this
experiment. Transpiration is when water leaves a plant through the stomata as water vapor while the
stomata is capturing CO2 for photosynthesis. This experiment used three different scenarios: a tomato
plant with a light shining on it, a tomato plant with wind blowing on it from a fan, and lastly a tomato
plant with nothing acting on it. The hypothesis is that the rate of transpiration will be fastest with light,
faster with wind, and slow with the control. This hypothesis was rejected because the rate of
transpiration is as follows with the wind having the fastest rate: with light the rate was 7.60 mm/min,
with wind 10.20 mm/min, and control 4.33 mm/min. The cause of the wind having a faster
transpiration rate than the light may have been due to the surface area of the leaves on the tomato
plants. The surface area of the leaves for the wind experiment is 8,124mm2, and for the light is
7,740mm2.By doing this transpiration experiment it helps one to see what happens in plants daily and
understand why it happens. Introduction
What is transpiration? Transpiration is when a plant absorbs water in its roots and the root pressure
becomes high causing the plant to release the excess water as water vapor

Describe briefly the function and composition of blood.
Blood is a red fluid that contains a complex mixture of cells suspended in a liquid matrix which is
transported (circulated) throughout the body by the circulatory system of an organism. It circulates
around the body by the heart and delivers oxygen and other important nutrients to cells of organs and
tissues, while at the same time, removing waste product from our body. Blood is located in almost
every part of our body, which is due to the network of blood vessels called the circulatory system. It is
circulated through the body s heart, arteries, veins and capillaries (tiny vessels that connect arteries
and veins). In order for blood to carry out its functions, it needs to circulate all over our body to all
living cells and tissues which it does through the support of the heart that pumps blood throughout our
entire body). Thus, it is the fluid of life, a vital life force that all humans need in order to live and
sustain life.

The Pros and Cons of the Criminalization of Pornography
The Pros and Cons of the Criminalization of Pornography Americans were alternatively shocked,
alarmed and delighted when Marilyn Monroe appeared on the cover of the first Playboy magazine in
1953. Since that time, the debate over pornography has become increasingly heated, due in large part
to critics who argue that the medium debases women and teaches young people the wrong lessons
about human sexuality. To gain some fresh insights about these issues, this paper provides a review of
the relevant peer reviewed and scholarly literature to determine whether pornography should be
criminalized in the same fashion and for the same reasons that hate speech is criminalized. A summary
of the research and important findings concerning these issues are provided in the conclusion. Review
and Discussion The issue of pornography has long been the source of controversy for many Western
societies, particularly with respect to its implications for gender roles and sexuality (Lofgren
Martenson Mansson, 2010). For instance, according to Griffith and Adams (2012), Issues regarding
the production and consumption of pornographic materials continue to be an intensely debated social
topic (p. 245). The social context surrounding the debate over whether pornography should be legal or
not includes various principles concerning the importance of gender equality and compulsory sex
educational courses that place a high priority on unrestricted rights to sexuality for both men and
women

Asymmetricistic Impact On Graphic Design THE IMPACT OF THE INTERNATIONAL TYPOGRAPHIC STYLE ON WEB DESIGN INTRODUCTION The International Typographic Style, or Swiss Style, invokes to the graphic design movement that emerged in Switzerland during the 1950s, after the Second World War, in a particular social, economical and industrial context. Inspired by the Constructivism approach, Swiss designers preferred asymmetrical layouts and used the grid as an organization tool to provide an overall orderly and unified structure. The grid serves as an armature on which designers can organize text and images in a rational, easy to absorb manner. The use of photography is another important characteristic of this movement. Swiss designers were influenced by the modernist idea in which photography was a better tool to show reality than drawings and illustrations. It s an easier and quick way of communication for the youth middle age adults. Since I have stopped running there s no motivation for physical activity, I m out of shape, and gained weight. My long term goal is to get back into running everyday. It will put me back into a healthy lifestyle and will make me feel better over all. If I do not return to running it will affect my physical health by making me gain more weight, and continue to be out shape. This can make me become lazy. Socially it has affected me because I pushed the friends I had away that I used to run with. I was ashamed to tell them that I was getting lazy. Running used to help me clear my mind and allowed me to focus on priorities, but now that I have stopped, I no longer can fully clear my mind. This is affecting my ability to perform my best in school. Without running everyday, spiritually I feel like I ve just been going through the motions of life, but not really living up to my potential. Since I pushed away all my friend who supported my running, I do not have an environment that is supportive of physical activity. All of these factors are making me live an unhealthy lifestyle. They are very hot places with low moisture and barren waste lands. When you think desert what normally jumps into your head is sand cactus and clear skies with the sun beating down on you. The maximum temperature for a desert can climb up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. The temperature in winter only drops a few degrees and it receives a small amount of humidity. Most coyotes live alone or in pairs, but may live in larger groups. Mainly their only predator is mountain lions, but more recently it is developing into humans as well. There are many ways human activities can impact the desert biome, at least where there is an existing ecosystem. Development by mining or residential use is one way, as would be diverting the limited water supplies for agricultural use elsewhere. Humans can damage the desert ecosystem if they use the areas for recreation in an unwise fashion. Off road riding (4x4 and dirt bikes) can damage desert plants and pollute the soil, as well as disrupting the activities of wildlife. Diverting water supplies, which are already likely scarce, can prevent infrequent rainfall from reaching the native plants. Killing rodents or predators that invade farms impacts the food chain that exists in the desert. Although it may not appear so, most deserts support fragile ecosystems that are easily damaged by roads, mineral refuse, or oil contamination that can come from industries or mines. Lil Kim Research Paper Lil Kim is the self made success story of a woman who worked hard to make a career for herself, but who also fits into the objectified sex symbol most hip hop feminists ridicule. Kim became one of the most distinctive female voices in the late 1990s, and was pop culture s most notorious hip hop queen of rap music. She made use of some of the most powerful tools black women in hip hop have to combat the stereotype of black feminine sexuality. Black women are seen as hypersexual, Jezebels, who will use the power of sex to get what they want. Since the beginning of her career she kept the image of being a Queen Bee , a sex symbol that combines her music, along with the words and images she raps, to resemble a hip hop feminist. I gain insight on what happens during surgeries from nurses, surgeons, and other hospital staff. This experience was much different than any other clinical I have gone to. After having first hand experience, I now know that surgery is nothing like what is portrayed on television. Background Inquiry The procedure that I observed was a total knee replacement of the left knee, and it was for a patient who was suffering from osteoarthritis. The only allergy that this patient had was to quinidine, an antiarrhythmic agent and anti parasite agent, irrelevant to her osteoarthritis. Other than osteoarthritis, this patient was generally healthy and did not have any other health conditions or comorbidities that would impact this surgery or any other activities of daily living. The Pathophysiology The knee is a hinge joint which is needed for movement. The joint is made by the femur and the tibia, and also contains the patella which acts as a shield for the joint. In knees with osteoarthritis, the cartilage on the ends of the bones deteriorates, causing the bones to rub against each other. Impact Of Immigration Reform In The 1920s-1960s The period of 1920 1970 represented a period of numerous competing immigration policies and a major debate about whether or not to reform immigration. Eventually, the reformers won the debate and the immigration reform that happened during the 1920s 1960s were consistent with American identity. Specifically, the reframing Asians as model minorities, the immigration reform policies that happened, and the allowance of Mexican immigration into the U.S shifted American identity, from as an all white country to a multicultural society, from restrictive on immigration to expansive on immigration and finally from a restrictive country to a more democratic country. The immigration reform policies that happened during the 1920s 1960s shifted American identity for several reasons. First, according to the article Strangers in Cold War America: The Modern Presidency, Committee Barons and Postwar Immigration Politics by Daniel J Tiechnor, pro immigration activists advocated that America no longer exclude Chinese immigrants and offer them 100 visa slots. Transpiration Lab Report Transpiration with Solanum lycopersicum Kimberly Smith Jenna Portier, Aaliyah Hebert, Marie LaSalle, Krystal Bellanger, Thea Martin September 11, 2017 Biology 156 3T1 Abstract This lab deals with the transpiration rates in plants, specifically a tomato plant that was used for this experiment. Transpiration is when water leaves a plant through the stomata as water vapor while the stomata is capturing CO2 for photosynthesis. This experiment used three different scenarios: a tomato plant with a light shining on it, a tomato plant with wind blowing on it from a fan, and lastly a tomato plant with nothing acting on it. The hypothesis is that the rate of transpiration will be fastest with light, faster with wind, and slow with the control. This hypothesis was rejected because the rate of transpiration is as follows with the wind having the fastest rate: with light the rate was 7.60 mm/min, with wind 10.20 mm/min, and control 4.33 mm/min. The cause of the wind having a faster transpiration rate than the light may have been due to the surface area of the leaves on the tomato plants. The surface area of the leaves for the wind experiment is 8,124mm2, and for the light is 7,740mm2.By doing this transpiration experiment it helps one to see what happens in plants daily and understand why it happens. Introduction What is transpiration? Transpiration is when a plant absorbs water in its roots and the root pressure becomes high causing the plant to release the excess water as water vapor ... Blood is a red fluid that contains a complex mixture of cells suspended in a liquid matrix which is transported (circulated) throughout the body by the circulatory system of an organism. It circulates around the body by the heart and delivers oxygen and other important nutrients to cells of organs and tissues, while at the same time, removing waste product from our body. Blood is located in almost every part of our body, which is due to the network of blood vessels called the circulatory system. It is circulated through the body s heart, arteries, veins and capillaries (tiny vessels that connect arteries and veins). In order for blood to carry out its functions, it needs to circulate all over our body to all living cells and tissues which it does through the support of the heart that pumps blood throughout our entire body). The Pros and Cons of the Criminalization of Pornography The Pros and Cons of the Criminalization of Pornography Americans were alternatively shocked, alarmed and delighted when Marilyn Monroe appeared on the cover of the first Playboy magazine in 1953. Since that time, the debate over pornography has become increasingly heated, due in large part to critics who argue that the medium debases women and teaches young people the wrong lessons about human sexuality. To gain some fresh insights about these issues, this paper provides a review of the relevant peer reviewed and scholarly literature to determine whether pornography should be criminalized in the same fashion and for the same reasons that hate speech is criminalized. A summary of the research and important findings concerning these issues are provided in the conclusion. Review and Discussion The issue of pornography has long been the source of controversy for many Western societies, particularly with respect to its implications for gender roles and sexuality (Lofgren Martenson Mansson, 2010).
