Overfishing the World Big Fish Population
Over Fishing the World Big Fish Population

Axia College of University of Phoenix
The overfishing of our world s oceans is causing a depletion of some prize fish, such as tuna and
swordfish, to the point that some scientists believe that 90% of these big fish populations have been
fished out. Jeremy Jackson of the Scripps Institute of Oceanography published a study in 2001 in
which he asserts that overfishing is more destructive than toxic pollution or degrading water
quality (University of Phoenix, 2007). Dr. Daniel Pauly, Professor and Director of the University
of British Columbia s Fisheries Centre, describes it as follow on The Overfishing.org (2007)
website: The big fish, the bill ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By putting this plan into practice, we will also resolve the other problems created by over fishing, as
it effects not only the depleted fish population, but also the animals for which those fish are food
of choice. Whales are turning to sea otters for food, rather than the sea lions and seals on which
they normally feed, as those populations also decline. Over fishing has also caused the use, as
stated earlier, of smaller mesh nets, increasing the amount of by catch that is caught in the nets. By
catch is the seabirds, dolphins, sea turtles, and even whales that are also caught in the net as they
drag it in, and are usually dumped back into the ocean, dead or dying. A drastic reduction in the
amount of by catch will subsequently occur with the reinstating of the larger mesh nets.
The management plan may cause fishermen to have to look into a second source of income for
the first five to ten years, as the most severe restrictions are put into place, giving the fish
populations can breed and repopulate, and a reassessment to be done by the scientific community
charged with monitoring the big fish groups. Governments might be forced to subsidize the
industry for this initial period, to help prevent illegal poaching by some fishermen who saw
poaching as their only economic alternative. Consumers would have to reduce their use of fish, and
would have to pay more for the fish they did purchase at the market during this period of

The Crying Game By Neil Jordan And Loaded By Christos...
ВЎВ§Texts both inform us of the social identities available to us, and problematize them; both
police our social selves and subvert them.ВЎВЁ
Both texts, The Crying Game by Neil Jordan and Loaded by Christos Tsiolkas, use
characters within the discourse to project social identities that have been
problematized due to social constraints. Throughout this essay, I will focus on
sexuality, as this type of social identity has been depicted as a central theme in both
texts. The characters from the texts work to, police and subvert their own sexual
identities within their social milieu.
ВЎВ§To claim an identity as a homosexual is to claim a place in a system of social
regulationВЎВЁ (Connell amp; Dowsett, 1992). I would firstly like ... Show more content on

Ari states that his
attraction is towards real men and masculinity, ВЎВ§ Every time I look at a gay man, even
if I think heВЎВ¦s attractive, I canВЎВ¦t forget heВЎВ¦s a faggot. I get off on real men,
masculinityВЎВЁ.
In contrast, the character of Dil in The Crying Game, was portrayed as a transvestite.
Dil is a man that functions in society as a woman. To encourage DilВЎВ¦s sexual identity
as female, the film failed to reveal Dil as a transvestite until the latter half of the film,
and lead the audience to believe the she was a woman.
Sexual identities have been problematized due to social constraints. Deconstructionist
theories have given motive as to why such sexual identities have been seen as
ВЎВ§problematicВЎВЁ in society. This theory governs the fact that heterosexuality is what is
considered the social norm and any identities varying from this norm would be
considered abnormal thus experiencing unjustness. Foucault debates that, ВЎВ§the social

This is exemplified by Fuery amp; Mansfield by stating that in society we generalise, in
a text, a characterВЎВ¦s sexuality as heterosexual and if not, we would expect that this
would become apparent in the narrative. (Cultural

Scopes Trial Analysis
The Scopes Trial is part of a series most commonly known as the trial of the century. In this series
there are many trials which are looked as revolutionary and important part of history. But even
though some trials may be big, they don t make it into the trial of the century just because their
concept and ideology isn t a very controversial and doesn t make you choose one side or the
other. The Scopes Trial, also known as the Monkey Trial, didn t have much do with the case
itself but what it actually standed for. The Scopes Trial set in motion a debate which still hasn t
been properly dealt with and clashes two polar ideas to compete against each other in order for the

In schools today things have been flipped around, for example evolution is okay to teach since it is
a scientific fact and can be backed up with proofs and claims, however a teacher cannot teach about
creationism because it is a religious belief and under the law schools have to be religiously
neutral. But most of the time public schools ignore the whole thing, but in Colleges every
biology class has evolution in their curriculum and the professors have to teach it. But even if
that s the case, now a days I think that the ideology of creationism is being taught less by the
churches themselves, though I am not a Christian and maybe because of that, I have been in
several preaching sessions for FCA in middle school and club preaching in high school and I
have also attended church few times; and I have never heard of creationism until this trial and
some of these preachings talked about Genesis but backed away from many aspects of it, so I
believe that creationism is being taught less as, in my opinion, as humankind is focusing more
on logic than faith. But even so the debate over the existence of evolution is being argued upon
lots of times between: peers, coworkers, preachers, atheist, agnostics, and sometimes even
parents; and I believe that it is common sense to doubt these sorts of things because it is
eventually affects how one may live or how it may affects one s after life and it s human nature
to have different views. But it is okay when one takes away one side of the argument and only is
taught one side, and I believe that it should be up to the person which side to be on, but using
evolution to justify one s selfishness is also wrong and is just an excuse which is used by the rich

Howard Gardner And Gardner s Theory Of Multiple Intelligences
Numerous are growing interested in what makes them who they are, along with how exactly they
fit into society. In fact, a variety of concepts exist that individuals commonly apply to their own
identity. Aiding people, the ideas help explore who they truly are as well as help understand
themselves better. But at the same time, they can either be helpful and relate to you with your
identity, or do the complete opposite. Of the broad amount of concepts to the identification of
people, there are three that exist named Gardner s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, Adler s Birth
Order, as well as learning styles. Each person is unique in their own way, especially the outstanding
capabilities of their mind. For example, it is common to only know of the visual learning, auditory
learning, and kinesthetic learningaspects, but what people do not know is that the mind goes beyond
that (Lane). Developed by Howard Gardner exists the Multiple Intelligences, which consists of nine
different intelligences. Of all of the intelligences exists Verbal linguistic, Logical mathematical,
Spatial visual, Bodily kinesthetic, Musical, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, Naturalist, and Existential
(Howard Gardner s Theory of Multiple Intelligences). According to Gardner, each person has a
unique blend of capabilities and skills, which students could balance out their skills if they
discovered their strengths (Lane). Personally, I scored at 92% Naturalistic and 0% Bodily
Kinesthetic on the quiz,

Carr s Writing Style
Technology evolves with time and changes the perspectives and culture of the society that it
permeates, the internet is no exception in its role as a digital information highway of the modern
world. Nicholas Carr uses data, examples, and repetition to structure his analysis of the above
phenomenon, in his article Is Google Making Us Stupid? . With a varied collection of data, Carr
illustrates the effects on reading styles due to the use of the internet. He sites qualitative data such
as the changes traditional media like newspapers have had to change to keep readership in the
digital age. The New York Times began including abstracts or shortcuts to provide a quick peek at
the news rather than have the reader scour the pages. This mirrors... Show more content on

In the beginning, he structures the opening paragraphs around his changing habits of reading and
research. He expresses concern at his mental expectation that he can take in information the way
the Net distributes it: in a swiftly moving stream of particles (Paragraph 4). He then widens out to
the consequences others experienced with the prevalence of technology. The differences between
the writing systems, ideograms employ and develop a mental circuitry for reading that is very
different from the circuitry found in those of us whose written language employs an alphabet. The
variations extend across many regions of the brain, including those that govern such essential
cognitive functions as memory and the interpretation of visual and auditory stimuli (paragraph 10).
Through a consistent repetition, he lays out key facts and provides the reader with the incentive to
consider the changes that they ve experienced. By the conclusion of his paper, a reader can realize
that their view of what is human and what makes a machine have blurred or even switched places.
Carr s writing explains where humans are through data, how the effects are taking place from the
individual to the global world, and finally the haunting illustration of where humanity is more cruel
and unfeeling than the machines. In a world with less and less deeper reading, the threat we pose to
the future becomes more

Technological Advancements to the Field of Mining
Part 1 Mining is a process used to extract minerals that cannot be gotten through farming or
agricultural techniques. It is the removal of elements found in the earth through several techniques.
Some of these elements include Iron ore, copper, gold, silver, oil (crude oil), coal, tin, uranium, etc.
Miningis described as the beginning of industrial and technological advancement. Mining started
hundreds of years ago. The oldest known cave is the Lion Cave in Swaziland. Swaziland is one
of the smallest countries in Africa, located in the southern part of the continent. Radiocarbon
dating has traced the rocks in the cave to forty three thousand years ago. Swaziland is also one of
the world producers of iron ore. Before civilization, iron ore was mined to produce pigment . This
was a type of paint at the time. (Monacorarecoins, 2013)
The mining industry comes with several myths. Myths such as it is a male based industry and
depicts them working hard with shovels and other digging equipment in dark holes. This is far from
reality because most mine workers do not work underground. The mining cycle includes operations
and processing, exploration, development, and mine closures. Health and safety is important to the
mining industry. Different countries and districts have different codes. The first code was drafted
in 1992. The value chain of mining has evolved over time from the 18th century until today. In the
18th century (Pre 1900) the mining industry had the

The Strengths Of Social-Psychological Theory In Hispanic...
Social Psychological Theory The feeling of belonging to or pertaining to an organization where
common goals are expressed and pursued through the joint efforts of the members of that
community defines social psychological theory. In other words, community members convey
similar thoughts and emotions regarding the betterment of their community through the devotion of
fulfilling a goal. Additionally, this communal effort stirs a sense of togetherness, fitting in, of
making new friends, and of belonging to an organization that is providing a functioning environment
. Ultimately, social psychological theoryemphasizes on how members of a community feel about
their relationship with other community members. Social psychological theory involves different
community roles in different cultures. For example, in a Hispanic culturethe father of a family is
seen as the man of the house or head of household. Therefore, he has the ultimate say in what takes
place within his home or how things are done. So, the father makes the imperative decisions that
deal strictly with his family such as who is allowed to enter his home and at what time they are
given permission to do so. Additionally, the Hispanic culture is structured as such and will continue
with tradition until a break in the ritual changes. A strength pertaining to social psychological
theory is the feeling of sharing an important identity to everyday life. Yet, a weakness is how a
certain culture behaves and may be

What Is The Intimate Act Of Choreography
The theme of The Intimate Act of Choreography by Lynne Anne Blom and L. Tarin Chaplin is to
inform the audience on what choreography is and how to go about the creative process of
dance. This book s purpose is to be a guide into choreographic process. The choreographic
process, which is a series of steps that create dance and classify dance as a whole, helps the
authors break down the major ideas to form smaller concepts which are used to initialize a dance.
The work provides an analytical view on dance as an artform but also in making the process to
simple to understand and how to use. They do this using three steps to simplify the choreographic
process divide, expand, and use. These three steps are relatively simple but allow for the audience
to understand the purpose of the book and transfer their newfound knowledge into the world. The
Intimate Act of Choreographyacts as lecture, setting up the structural bones for those interested in
choreography. This is informative and opinionated but nonetheless a guide into the domain of dance.

The Theme Of Restorative Justice In The Kite Runner
Restorative justice, a key factor in today s society that allows us to function in a orderly way can
be portrayed in many ways such as the loyalty towards one friend or the redemption from despair
and pain.In the story The Kite Runner restorative justice is the leading factor in the role of the main
character Amir and is quest of redemption. Restorative Justiceitself can only be achieved through
hard work along with the willingness to change and because of this I feel as though the movie (The
Kite Runner) had less of an impact showing the struggle of redeeming oneself unlike the actual
book. This being said having the opportunity to watch the film and read the book both greatly
impacted how I now view restorative justice. It made the theme of redemption being something you
only achieve with hard work and willingness to change oneself clear to me as the reader.
Now, likewise to what I said earlier watching the movie and reading the book did in fact make
the theme clear to me. The movie, to a certain extent showed how redeeming oneself requires
hard work and effort. This can be shown in the scene where Amir literally had to fight in order to
take Sohrab from Asself. In addition this can be read in the book when Amir says My memory of
the fight with Assef is amazingly vivid in stretches... .In like manner, both adaptations of the story
showed how change is necessary for redemption such as how Amir told Soraya of his wrong doing
that happened so many years ago. This

How Does Willy Russell Create Mood and Atmosphere in the...
In the Summer Sequence Willy Russell s three main protagonists are shown to grow up from the
ages of 15 to 18, thus becoming adults throughout the song. This means that the sequence acts as a
watershed in the respect that it marks a major turning point in the play. This is shown through the
atmosphere that Russell creates, which goes from fairly positive, hopeful tone to a more cynical
and desperate one over the duration of the sequence. Russell uses several techniques to create these
atmospheres throughout.
In the opening of the Summer Sequence the atmosphere is clearly a happy one, which is shown by
Russell by using words like young, free and innocent to describe the characters. In this section, the
word innocent is used twice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This explicitly refers to the brothers fate in a way in which the last section didn t, so the tone is far
more marred by the eventuality of their deaths. This date is also referenced when Russell extends
the metaphor, fate the later seasons bring , which causes the audience to remember the scene at the
very beginning of the play, preventing them from being drawn into the initial happiness of the three
teenagers in this sequence. Again, it refers to Linda being caught in the middle of the pair,
foreshadowing their final argument.
It also refers to Linda paying a price , a theme that was initially shown in the song Easy Terms ,
sung by Mrs Johnstone, and in both cases foreshadows the price they ll have to pay for their
involvement in the twins lives. The music becomes far more serious and sinister, a repetitive tense
note with no actual melody.
In the next section a recurring theme is shown with the references to time. This creates a sad,
melancholic atmosphere, as the audience is aware of the character s significant lack of time
together, but the characters are not, so their happy unawareness and this dramatic irony is slightly
poignant. Again, fate is reference by the narrator care not for what s at the end of the day , again
forcing the audience to remember the fate of the boys, this

When the Irish came to America they were persecuted and discriminated against, many not being
able to find work being turned away with signs such as Irish need not apply. However, the real
problem began when immigrants from South America began crossing the nation s southern border
to come here illegally. An estimated eleven million illegal immigrants are in the United States
today. That is an increase of roughly one third since 2000, when there were 8.5 million illegal
immigrants, according to the Center for American Progress.(Goldfuss) Also eighty six percent
of illegal immigrants have been living in America for seven years or longer.(LeMay) Many
argue that becoming a legal immigrant is next to impossible and that it is too hard and the
process takes too long , meaning that by the standards they have created there are not enough
visas awarded and the process to legally emigrate takes too long, so they decide to take it upon
themselves to commit a crime and cross the United States southern border. (Herreras) The
current legal channel for people to become citizens is through getting either a green card or a
work visa, which can be seasonal or year round.(U.S. Department of State.) However, there are

HSM Law Profile Paper There are federal, state, county, and even tribal laws that have been put
into place to protect both the client and the human service worker. Some are more of a guiding
tool for human service workers, while some laws are designed to protect the client in a wide
variety of ways. The Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) was originally enacted
in January 1974 to require agencies to assess, investigate, and provide treatment, and prosecution in
order to receive federal funding. To fully understand everything that this law has to offer, we must

The law also provides Federal Grants to agencies that fall under its guidelines. Many agencies
could not exist or be of any benefit to the community without this funding. This law protects
children with disabilities, by means that housing that is unique to them be defined with
specialized training and equipped to do so. Abandoned infants are a unique situation that is not
as easy as one would expect to solve. Even though the client is unable to speak for themselves,
they still need protection. When dealing with near homeless or homeless families, a human
service worker may find they are unsure when to become involved more, which is something
that this law will help guide them through. Finally, to protect children all around, it is now
apparent that certain jobs that work with children must make their employees subject to
background checks. CAPTA will certainly have a heavy impact on human service workers in
many ways. This law is actually the beginning basis for child abuse laws in general. Over the
years many laws have been designed in similarities to model their own version of CAPTA.
Human Service workers will find themselves both enforcing the laws that are under CAPTA, as
well as following the rules that are defined under CAPTA. Sometimes, a human service worker
may find themselves referring to CAPTA with the client to explain what is required and what is
not. For example, if a client

Biological Arguments Against Abortion
Although debates concerning abortion policies often center on discerning when life begins,
equating abortion with the taking of a human life, there is evidence to suggest that individuals
views on abortion are not solely shaped by their views of when life begins. Rather, a review of
the literature suggests that abortion views are strongly linked to views on sexuality including
views on who should have sex and when, the purpose of sex, and who is responsible for sex and
post sex outcomes. By conceptualizing abortion attitudes in the frameworks of homosexuality,
premarital sex, procreative sex, religious beliefs, and rape myths, one can argue that complex
societal factors may drive abortion views, or at least supplement biological arguments against
abortion. As early as the 1980s, empirical studies found a correlation between views against
homosexuality and views against abortion (Finlay, 1981; Fried, 1988). Based on a questionnaire
distributed to participants,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sexual intercourse between two individuals is a dyadic encounter that results from negotiation,
coercion, or violence, but it can be unclear who is responsible for sex occurring. In mammalian
models, it tends to be the female who controls whether or not sex happens, as the female often
must present herself in order for the male to copulate her (Beach, 1976). For example, female
rodents exhibit a behavior called lordosis, characterized arching of the back, which allows for the
male to copulate; a male rodent may still try to mount the female in the absence of lordosis, but
cannot copulate (Hull Dominguez, 2007). While rodent models are not directly applicable to
humans, as human females do not exhibit lordosis, the framing of females as the gatekeepers of sex
could influence the way that humans view their own specie s

The Culture And Customs Of Ghana
Textile industry for centuries has played an important role in most West African societies. It has
been also a form of art that can give us information about the history of African s countries. The
materials used, the patterns, and the colors of the clothes can be associated with specific
communities. For example, Kente clothes are made from cotton, silk, and raffia. Salm and Falola
claim that, The cultures and customs of Ghana today are a product of diversity in indigenous form,
influenced by a long history of Islamic and European contacts. They represent a dynamic process of
adoption and adaptation, incorporating elements of outside cultures.
The Ghana Boy tunics are a good example of how African artists combined elements of traditional
African work with European elements. They are made in bright colors, and incorporate abstract
symbols of Western commodities and styles. This type of cloth clearly announces that people had
been abroad and know other cultures and languages.
This paper intends to show a comparison between two important symbols of the Ghanaian people s
history, the smocks and the Kente clothes, and it will be focused on the textile industry and their
makers.
The research questions developed for this study are:
In which part of Ghana are these two Ghanaian textiles usually worn?
Do these two different Ghanaian textile styles serve the same function?
What are the Challenges Ghana s textile industry has been facing during the last years?

Talk To Her
Question 1
Talk to Her is a Spanish film written in 2002 and directed by Pedro Almodovar. The plot revolves
around two men with an unlikely friendship and in deep care for two other women suffering from
comas. The themes adopted by the writer are mainly persistence of love, the difficulty of
communication as well as loneliness and intimacy. Like any other drama, the film reveals a unique
style and concepts of artistry. In particular, the film highlights the ideas of postmodern narratives
commonly adopted by many contemporary playwrights. While postmodernism in art is used as a
departure from the typical modernism to explicit distrust of theories and ideologies, this film
exhibits a wider sphere. Apart from the themes used in the play, the humor and unrelenting ... Show

Apart from being too good, Benigno violates Alicia s integrity when he rapes the lady in his quest

psychologically troubled individual throughout the movie. In fact, for the majority of the film, he is
undeniably the most sympathetic figure since he appears saintly against the backdrop of all his
failures. Perhaps, the playwright does not intend to have the audience capture an immediate
impression of the character but use him as the center of comic. Despite the violence and immoral
attitude, Benigno s integrity, as well as authenticity, remains mostly questionable.

I concur that Benigno s character is not only ironic but is also central to creating meaning out of

Plea Agreement Advantages
Plea Agreement
Introduction
A plea agreement is when the defendant agrees to plead guilty and the prosecutor offers to either
reduce the charge to a less serious offense, drops a charge, or recommend a specific sentence to
the judge (Williams Wilson, 1981). A plea agreement is more common than a case going to trial,
in 2012, 97% of federal cases ended in plea bargains rather that going to trial (Goode, 2012). In the
case for Richard, there is no telling what the results would have been if he had a jury trial rather
than taking the plea agreement but it can be said that he made the correct decision by taking the
plea.

When he looks back on that decision, he believes that his lawyer convinced him to make the
wrong decision. It is unknown what the outcome of Richard s life would have been if he had
taken his case to trial, but it seems that the plea agreement was the correct way for him to go.
Richard undeniably murdered his mother. He was seventeen years old and was old enough to
know that murder is wrong. Richard did grow up in a household where he was mentally abused,
but does that justify or give him an out for killing his mother? A jury would have seen Richard s
case in a few different ways. One way they could have seen the case would be that Richard was
an abused child, he did not understand what he was doing, and he does not necessarily deserve to
be punished for it. Another way the jury could have seen his case would be that Richard was nearly
an adult who murdered his mother, hid the body, and then manipulated people into thinking that he
was truly concerned about his mothers whereabouts while the whole time knowing what he did. If
the jury would have seen Richard s case like that, he probably would have ended up with the

Moral in Happy Endings by Margaret Atwood
Atwood uses Happy Endings in identifying and explaining the type of ending fictional stories
should have and why. Works of fiction should have a happy ending which Atwood terms appealing
to our ethical nature and therefore moral. Atwood provides a number of stories that implies
different endings. However, the ending in the first story is referred in all other stories as the
befitting ending. Atwood acknowledges the desires of works of fiction to bring out creativity by
bring out intensity and passion, but this is only possible in the introduction and the body of a

This is the kind of ending that Atwood demands of fictional writing. A happy ending; ethical in
nature and a moral ending.
Contrary to what Atwood articulates, fictional writing has been viewed as a way of writing that
grants freedom to the writer. The writer can end the story with suspense, ending at just that point
that a character is phased with a huge obstacle or immense passion (Nodelman, 1). This is
believed to set the reader up into believing that overcoming such obstacles in real life brings about
immense rewards and therefore such kind of writing is always motivational to the reader. This is a
point of view that Atwood is quick to rubbish by pointing out that all other endings that are not
happy endings in fiction are delusionary. Don t be deluded by any other endings, they re all fake,
either deliberately fake, with malicious intent to deceive, or just motivated by excessive optimism if
not by downright sentimentality (Atwood, 3).
Arguments for the position held by Atwood with respect to the perfect ending to a work of fiction
can be drawn from the societal relationships such as marriages and romantic affairs. These
relationships are perceived as beautiful and comes with a form of fulfillment, thus should have a
beautiful ending. Life should be easy and relationships should be successful. The happy ending
adopted by Atwood is an illustration of how easy life should be and how successful relationships
such as marriages should turn out. She

The Pros And Cons Of Anti-Semitism
A widely spoken about topic in America is Isms, they can be described as ways to discriminate
practices, cultures, and groups of people; moreover, there are lsists upon lists of isms in today s
society being used to discriminate. Significant oppressions in today s society are racism and
transphobia, and a similar case would be the discrimination of Jews. Represented as anti Semitism,
this can be defined as, Hostility toward or discrimination against Jews as a religious, ethnic, or
racial group ( Anti Semitism ).
Although Adolf Hitler s reign of terror had a significant part in defining anti Semitism, this dates as
far back to the ancient Roman times. In 70 AD the dawn of anti Semitism was exhibited when,
Roman authorities destroyed the Jewish temple in Jerusalem and forced Jews to leave Palestine (
The Holocaust ). Not only were Jews discriminated against prior in World War II and the
Holocaust, today, it is said that, Israeli Jews all but universally say anti Semitism is at least
somewhat common around the world today, including nearly two thirds who say it is very
common. ( Anti Semitism and discrimination ).
Israeli Jews have a strong opinion that, roughly three quarters say anti Semitism is not only
common but on the rise globally, while virtually no Israeli Jews say it is decreasing (Anti Semitism
and discrimination); On the other hand, Americans have an opposing view of the incline of anti
Semitism. Based on a HuffPost/YouGov survey, Thirty five percent of

Relation Between Inflation Rate and Unemployment
Eurozone unemployment and inflation both rise
01 March 2012 by Daniel Mason
Eurozone unemployment rose to a record high in January, while inflation in the currency bloc has
also continued its upward trend a combination described by economists as unpalatable and a double
whammy of bad news .
The jobless rate in the 17 member currency bloc was 10.7 per cent in January, up from 10.6 per
cent in December, according to statistics published today by Eurostat. It means that, in January,
there were 16.9 million people out of work in the eurozone. Meanwhile in the European Union as a
whole, unemployment increased from 10 per cent in December to 10.1 per cent in January, leaving
24.3 million people without a job.

A rise in income will create increased purchasing power. Thus, the demand remains high as it
reaches a point where the supply can no longer meet the demand, inflation occurs. However, at the
same time, when unemployment is high, workers are unable to ask for better wages. This means
that prices can fall, since businesses are not having to pay their employees better wages. Therefore,
in many cases, when there is low unemployment, there is high inflation and vice versa. It has been
observed that there was a stable and inverse relationship between rate of inflation and the rate of
unemployment in an economy. In other words, a lower unemployment rate could be had by
tolerating a higher rate of inflation.
However, since the simultaneous occurrence of high inflation and high unemployment in the
United States and other countries during the 1970s, there has been general agreement that this
econometric relationship is unstable. Indeed, the instability has been so great that Lucas and
Sargent characterized it as econometric failure on a grand scale. (1)
As is known to all, widespread joblessness in Greece and Spain pushed the unemployment rate in
the eurozone to the worst level since 1999. Coupled with the pitched unemployment rate, the
economy has suffered from fluctuation. Take the example of the news released in recent time,
which is concerned with the financial situation in Eurozone. As what we can see in the news report,

Lobbying Pros And Cons
Lobbying (also lobby) is the act of attempting to influence decisions made by officials in a

Electricity In The Bell Jar By Sylvia Plath
Electricity in The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath signifies Esther s evolving condition; it describes both a
domineering and destructive force that she imagines from the beginning of the novel, and
experiences later in the form of electroshock, but it also describes her sexual awakening and
development as someone capable of adult intimacy. These two forms of electricity are radically
different, yet both relate to powerful moments in Esther s life as a young adult. While electricity in
the form of electrocution and electroshock becomes associated with punishment and a loss of
control over oneself, static electricitymarks Esther s transition from an almost childlike idea of
romance, absent of sexual intimacy, to an adult who embraces that sexual intimacy as part of love.
In the first paragraph, the novel refers to electricity and connects it to events that are public and
associate with punishment, which Esther then quickly personalizes and relates to her own disgust,
horror, and some subtle indication of attraction. The novel opens with the description of how, It was
a queer, sultry summer, the summer they electrocuted the Rosenbergs, and I didn t know what I
was doing in New York (XX). The first siting of electricity comes in relation the infamous
Rosenbergs, and therefore associates electrocution with punishment and treason. Moreover, the act
of electrocution is monumental, such that it marks not simply a particular moment or event, but an
entire summer. It is therefore

Porphyria s Lover Comparison
In Robert Browning s poem Porphyria s lover, the narrator killed his lover to remain in his love
forever. There are two main characters in this poem: the female character, Porphyria, and her
lover. Her lover is low class while Porphyria comes from a decent family. Because of this
difference of social class, Porphyria could not give up her, everything for her love; however, she
came to see her lover one night and confessed her love to him. Then, he killed her strangling her
throat by her hair in order to last her love to him forever. And he confessed his love toward her

In both poems, two male characters fall in love with a beautiful woman and get heartburn
become lovesick. However, while a male character in Porphyria s lover turns his love toward
Porphyria out to be lunatic and psychotic, a male character in To idealizes Jane as an unreachable
being and shows his love in a platonic and sublime way. In both poems, female characters are
beautiful and attractive, so male characters are captivated by their beauty and hunger for their
affection throughout the poem. Furthermore, both male characters have a critical obstacle to
achieve their love difference of social status and marriage status. In Browning s poem, male
character is from low class while his lover Porphyria is from decent family. In Victorian Era,
social class still existed and it determined almost everything, even one s marriage. In addition,
women s right was not equally treated as men s at that time, so dominant violence toward
women was frequent. In this reason, although the male character excuses he killed his lover in
order to keep her love to him forever, it seems that he projects his anger or madness at
discrimination caused by social class as he killed his aristocratic lover. On the other hand, in
Shelley s poem, the male character, actually Shelley himself, idolizes her lover as a divine
figure. In fact, Jane is a married woman, so it might be impossible to accept his love. Thus, as he
portrays her as an unreachable being, he might comfort himself her rejection to his love. While
male character in Browning s poem chooses a very radical and violent way to keep his love, one
in Shelley s poem chooses romantic but somewhat passive way to keep his love. However, as both
male characters show their true or unrefined feeling and love toward their lovers, these works
represent one of the good examples in English Romantic

the bullies to leave. The bullies walked away and I told my friend that he needs to go and stand

The diffusion of Buddhism into China is extremely important to Chinese people and Chinese

have to talk, that is in the Constitution specifically the fifth amendment. This is good reasoning
because he is being objective and actually taking in consideration the actual laws that come into
play with the case. Second, is when Juror 8 pulls out a knife exactly like the murder weapon that
the boy allegedly used. The other jurors believe that since the knife is so rare and that the shop
owner of the shop the knife was bought from said that he only had one in stock that must mean
that the boy killed his father. Third, Juror calls for a secret ballot vote in order to see if they
actually think the boy is guilty without the chance for ridicule by the other juror. Fourth, they go
through an actual demonstration of how the switchblade knife would wound the father showing

Hero of the southern campaign in the American Revolution, who was known for his mastery of the
small unit tactics necessary for effective guerrilla warfare.
BIOGRAPHICAL ESSAY
Francis Marion was born in the winter of 1732 (his exact birth date is unknown) at Goatfield
Plantation in St. John s Parish, Berkeley County, South Carolina. His parents, Gabriel and Esther
Marion, were of French Huguenot descent. The Huguenots were French Protestants who had

Marion was given the rank of first lieutenant in Captain William Moultrie s company of infantry.
In June, Grant led his expedition on the same route Montgomerie had taken. Sensing another
ambush at a pass near the site of Montgomerie s battle, Grant dispatched Marion with 30 men to
flush out the Cherokees. Using trees for cover, Marion s detachment cautiously advanced within
range of the Cherokees, whereupon the Indians sounded their war cry and fired. By the time the
pass was secured, only nine of Marion s men were left. Grant s column proceeded through the pass
and engaged the Cherokees for several hours, until the Indians fled. Marion s capture of the pass
allowed Grant to create a path of destruction in the Cherokee lands, burning 15 Indian towns and
destroying their corn crops. Finally, Chief Attakullakulla, known by some as Little Carpenter,
surrendered.
Marion s courageous efforts in the Cherokee War did not go unnoticed. When he returned to his
old lifestyle by leasing farm lands along the west bank of the Santee River, he was accorded great
respect and became a successful planter. Although he spent considerable time hunting and fishing,
he was well acquainted with details of the surrounding lands. He also had an active social life and
regularly visited his brothers and neighboring Huguenot families. During this prosperous time, he
attained a sizable degree of wealth. In 1773,

Conditional Cash Transfer ( Cct ) Programmes Essay
Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programmes are a form of social protection which provide
modest monthly cash transfers to families with children. Cash transfers are conditional on families
meeting the minimum requirements of regular school attendance and the use of preventive
healthcare services. Although largely praised for their success, CCTs are criticised for using
conditionality as a means of achieving the objectives to improve the capital accumulation of those
living in abject poverty. Providing direct cash transfers to raise the income levels of the poor are a
precursor to long term poverty reduction strategies. The conditional aspect of the CCT program
assures the adequate investment of parents and children in improving the health and welfare of
their family: a necessary aspect of breaking the intergenerational transmission of poverty. Brazil s
CCT, Bolsa Familia targets the educationand health indicators of their beneficiaries in order to
achieve human capitalaccumulation. CCT programmes have multiple impacts on the education and
health of recipient families. In the following I will assess their impacts on education and health by
observing the inputs for health and education and the outcomes of human capital accumulation.
Brazil s CCT, Bolsa Familia is the largest CCT programme in the world. Today, Bolsa Familia
covers 13 million households, with about 5 people in each household.
This is equates to about 25% of the population of Brazil. (Brazil is very

Overfishing the World Big Fish Population Over Fishing the World Big Fish Population Insert your Name Here SCI275 Axia College of University of Phoenix The overfishing of our world s oceans is causing a depletion of some prize fish, such as tuna and swordfish, to the point that some scientists believe that 90% of these big fish populations have been fished out. Jeremy Jackson of the Scripps Institute of Oceanography published a study in 2001 in which he asserts that overfishing is more destructive than toxic pollution or degrading water quality (University of Phoenix, 2007). Dr. Daniel Pauly, Professor and Director of the University of British Columbia s Fisheries Centre, describes it as follow on The Overfishing.org (2007) website: The big fish, the bill ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By putting this plan into practice, we will also resolve the other problems created by over fishing, as it effects not only the depleted fish population, but also the animals for which those fish are food of choice. Whales are turning to sea otters for food, rather than the sea lions and seals on which they normally feed, as those populations also decline. Over fishing has also caused the use, as stated earlier, of smaller mesh nets, increasing the amount of by catch that is caught in the nets. By catch is the seabirds, dolphins, sea turtles, and even whales that are also caught in the net as they drag it in, and are usually dumped back into the ocean, dead or dying. A drastic reduction in the amount of by catch will subsequently occur with the reinstating of the larger mesh nets. The management plan may cause fishermen to have to look into a second source of income for the first five to ten years, as the most severe restrictions are put into place, giving the fish populations can breed and repopulate, and a reassessment to be done by the scientific community charged with monitoring the big fish groups. Governments might be forced to subsidize the industry for this initial period, to help prevent illegal poaching by some fishermen who saw poaching as their only economic alternative. Consumers would have to reduce their use of fish, and would have to pay more for the fish they did purchase at the market during this period of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

ВЎВ§Texts both inform us of the social identities available to us, and problematize them; both police our social selves and subvert them.ВЎВЁ Both texts, The Crying Game by Neil Jordan and Loaded by Christos Tsiolkas, use characters within the discourse to project social identities that have been problematized due to social constraints. Throughout this essay, I will focus on sexuality, as this type of social identity has been depicted as a central theme in both texts. The characters from the texts work to, police and subvert their own sexual identities within their social milieu. In schools today things have been flipped around, for example evolution is okay to teach since it is a scientific fact and can be backed up with proofs and claims, however a teacher cannot teach about creationism because it is a religious belief and under the law schools have to be religiously neutral. But most of the time public schools ignore the whole thing, but in Colleges every biology class has evolution in their curriculum and the professors have to teach it. But even if that s the case, now a days I think that the ideology of creationism is being taught less by the churches themselves, though I am not a Christian and maybe because of that, I have been in several preaching sessions for FCA in middle school and club preaching in high school and I have also attended church few times; and I have never heard of creationism until this trial and some of these preachings talked about Genesis but backed away from many aspects of it, so I believe that creationism is being taught less as, in my opinion, as humankind is focusing more on logic than faith. But even so the debate over the existence of evolution is being argued upon lots of times between: peers, coworkers, preachers, atheist, agnostics, and sometimes even parents; and I believe that it is common sense to doubt these sorts of things because it is eventually affects how one may live or how it may affects one s after life and it s human nature to have different views. But it is okay when one takes away one side of the argument and only is taught one side, and I believe that it should be up to the person which side to be on, but using evolution to justify one s selfishness is also wrong and is just an excuse which is used by the rich to not help the ... In fact, a variety of concepts exist that individuals commonly apply to their own identity. Aiding people, the ideas help explore who they truly are as well as help understand themselves better. But at the same time, they can either be helpful and relate to you with your identity, or do the complete opposite. Of the broad amount of concepts to the identification of people, there are three that exist named Gardner s Theory of Multiple Intelligences, Adler s Birth Order, as well as learning styles. Each person is unique in their own way, especially the outstanding capabilities of their mind. For example, it is common to only know of the visual learning, auditory learning, and kinesthetic learningaspects, but what people do not know is that the mind goes beyond that (Lane). Developed by Howard Gardner exists the Multiple Intelligences, which consists of nine different intelligences. Of all of the intelligences exists Verbal linguistic, Logical mathematical, Spatial visual, Bodily kinesthetic, Musical, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, Naturalist, and Existential (Howard Gardner s Theory of Multiple Intelligences). Restorative Justiceitself can only be achieved through hard work along with the willingness to change and because of this I feel as though the movie (The Kite Runner) had less of an impact showing the struggle of redeeming oneself unlike the actual book. This being said having the opportunity to watch the film and read the book both greatly impacted how I now view restorative justice. It made the theme of redemption being something you only achieve with hard work and willingness to change oneself clear to me as the reader. Biological Arguments Against Abortion Although debates concerning abortion policies often center on discerning when life begins, equating abortion with the taking of a human life, there is evidence to suggest that individuals views on abortion are not solely shaped by their views of when life begins. Rather, a review of the literature suggests that abortion views are strongly linked to views on sexuality including views on who should have sex and when, the purpose of sex, and who is responsible for sex and post sex outcomes. By conceptualizing abortion attitudes in the frameworks of homosexuality, premarital sex, procreative sex, religious beliefs, and rape myths, one can argue that complex societal factors may drive abortion views, or at least supplement biological arguments against abortion. It has been also a form of art that can give us information about the history of African s countries. The materials used, the patterns, and the colors of the clothes can be associated with specific communities. For example, Kente clothes are made from cotton, silk, and raffia. Salm and Falola claim that, The cultures and customs of Ghana today are a product of diversity in indigenous form, influenced by a long history of Islamic and European contacts. They represent a dynamic process of adoption and adaptation, incorporating elements of outside cultures. The Ghana Boy tunics are a good example of how African artists combined elements of traditional African work with European elements. They are made in bright colors, and incorporate abstract symbols of Western commodities and styles. This type of cloth clearly announces that people had been abroad and know other cultures and languages. This paper intends to show a comparison between two important symbols of the Ghanaian people s history, the smocks and the Kente clothes, and it will be focused on the textile industry and their makers. The research questions developed for this study are: In which part of Ghana are these two Ghanaian textiles usually worn? Do these two different Ghanaian textile styles serve the same function? The plot revolves around two men with an unlikely friendship and in deep care for two other women suffering from comas. The themes adopted by the writer are mainly persistence of love, the difficulty of communication as well as loneliness and intimacy. Like any other drama, the film reveals a unique style and concepts of artistry. In particular, the film highlights the ideas of postmodern narratives commonly adopted by many contemporary playwrights. In my opinion, Benigno is psychologically troubled individual throughout the movie. In fact, for the majority of the film, he is undeniably the most sympathetic figure since he appears saintly against the backdrop of all his failures. Perhaps, the playwright does not intend to have the audience capture an immediate impression of the character but use him as the center of comic. Despite the violence and immoral attitude, Benigno s integrity, as well as authenticity, remains mostly questionable. Plea Agreement Advantages Plea Agreement Introduction A plea agreement is when the defendant agrees to plead guilty and the prosecutor offers to either reduce the charge to a less serious offense, drops a charge, or recommend a specific sentence to the judge (Williams Wilson, 1981). A plea agreement is more common than a case going to trial, in 2012, 97% of federal cases ended in plea bargains rather that going to trial (Goode, 2012). In the case for Richard, there is no telling what the results would have been if he had a jury trial rather than taking the plea agreement but it can be said that he made the correct decision by taking the plea. Richard undeniably murdered his mother. He was seventeen years old and was old enough to know that murder is wrong. Richard did grow up in a household where he was mentally abused, but does that justify or give him an out for killing his mother? A jury would have seen Richard s case in a few different ways. One way they could have seen the case would be that Richard was an abused child, he did not understand what he was doing, and he does not necessarily deserve to be punished for it. Another way the jury could have seen his case would be that Richard was nearly an adult who murdered his mother, hid the body, and then manipulated people into thinking that he was truly concerned about his mothers whereabouts while the whole time knowing what he did. However, the ending in the first story is referred in all other stories as the befitting ending. A happy ending; ethical in nature and a moral ending. Contrary to what Atwood articulates, fictional writing has been viewed as a way of writing that grants freedom to the writer. The writer can end the story with suspense, ending at just that point that a character is phased with a huge obstacle or immense passion (Nodelman, 1). This is believed to set the reader up into believing that overcoming such obstacles in real life brings about immense rewards and therefore such kind of writing is always motivational to the reader. This is a point of view that Atwood is quick to rubbish by pointing out that all other endings that are not happy endings in fiction are delusionary. Don t be deluded by any other endings, they re all fake, either deliberately fake, with malicious intent to deceive, or just motivated by excessive optimism if not by downright sentimentality (Atwood, 3). Arguments for the position held by Atwood with respect to the perfect ending to a work of fiction can be drawn from the societal relationships such as marriages and romantic affairs. These relationships are perceived as beautiful and comes with a form of fulfillment, thus should have a beautiful ending. Life should be easy and relationships should be successful. The jobless rate in the 17 member currency bloc was 10.7 per cent in January, up from 10.6 per cent in December, according to statistics published today by Eurostat. It means that, in January, there were 16.9 million people out of work in the eurozone. Thus, the demand remains high as it reaches a point where the supply can no longer meet the demand, inflation occurs. However, at the same time, when unemployment is high, workers are unable to ask for better wages. This means that prices can fall, since businesses are not having to pay their employees better wages. Therefore, in many cases, when there is low unemployment, there is high inflation and vice versa. It has been observed that there was a stable and inverse relationship between rate of inflation and the rate of unemployment in an economy. In other words, a lower unemployment rate could be had by tolerating a higher rate of inflation. However, since the simultaneous occurrence of high inflation and high unemployment in the United States and other countries during the 1970s, there has been general agreement that this econometric relationship is unstable. Indeed, the instability has been so great that Lucas and Sargent characterized it as econometric failure on a grand scale. Electricity In The Bell Jar By Sylvia Plath Electricity in The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath signifies Esther s evolving condition; it describes both a domineering and destructive force that she imagines from the beginning of the novel, and experiences later in the form of electroshock, but it also describes her sexual awakening and development as someone capable of adult intimacy. These two forms of electricity are radically different, yet both relate to powerful moments in Esther s life as a young adult. While electricity in the form of electrocution and electroshock becomes associated with punishment and a loss of control over oneself, static electricitymarks Esther s transition from an almost childlike idea of romance, absent of sexual intimacy, to an adult who embraces that sexual intimacy as part of love. In the first paragraph, the novel refers to electricity and connects it to events that are public and associate with punishment, which Esther then quickly personalizes and relates to her own disgust, horror, and some subtle indication of attraction. The novel opens with the description of how, It was a queer, sultry summer, the summer they electrocuted the Rosenbergs, and I didn t know what I was doing in New York (XX). However, while a male character in Porphyria s lover turns his love toward Porphyria out to be lunatic and psychotic, a male character in To idealizes Jane as an unreachable being and shows his love in a platonic and sublime way. In both poems, female characters are beautiful and attractive, so male characters are captivated by their beauty and hunger for their affection throughout the poem. Furthermore, both male characters have a critical obstacle to achieve their love difference of social status and marriage status. In Browning s poem, male character is from low class while his lover Porphyria is from decent family. In Victorian Era, social class still existed and it determined almost everything, even one s marriage. In addition, women s right was not equally treated as men s at that time, so dominant violence toward women was frequent. In this reason, although the male character excuses he killed his lover in order to keep her love to him forever, it seems that he projects his anger or madness at discrimination caused by social class as he killed his aristocratic lover. On the other hand, in Shelley s poem, the male character, actually Shelley himself, idolizes her lover as a divine figure. In fact, Jane is a married woman, so it might be impossible to accept his love. Thus, as he portrays her as an unreachable being, he might comfort himself her rejection to his love. While male character in Browning s poem chooses a very radical and violent way to keep his love, one in Shelley s poem chooses romantic but somewhat passive way to keep his love. Second, is when Juror 8 pulls out a knife exactly like the murder weapon that the boy allegedly used. The other jurors believe that since the knife is so rare and that the shop owner of the shop the knife was bought from said that he only had one in stock that must mean that the boy killed his father.
