Unit 73: Sound For Computer Games
Game Title Gta 5
Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples that establish… Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have
been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting The setting is high up in the sky above the clouds where the player either
unconscious or dead meets a man talking to him like a God.
To create the eerie sound in the back that is
played very quiet for the setting; I believe the
sound is digitally made. In addition, the other
sound played louder like the ambulance and birds,
I believe were physically recorded and then
manipulated digitally.
Mood The mood feels eerie as the soundtrack in is played very quiet and it is the same
sound all the way through. This lifts the mood of eeriness. In addition the mood
feels all the more eerie as in the background you can hear the ambulance in which is
trying to bring you back to life.
To alter the mood of eeriness and unawareness,
The sound of the ambulance improves the feeling
f the mood and the birds portray that you high in
the sky meaning that you’re either dead or jut
dreaming. This makes the mood feel also quite
random.
Game genre This game is a 3rd
person shooter action game The sounds in this cut scene really do relate to the
game genre as the sound of ambulances is really
common in action games and people are always
getting hurt or killed in actin game.
Narrative The player gets killed and then finds himself above the clouds listening to a God like
figure speaking to him. After the speech, he finishes and the player loses vision on
him as he awakes.
Also, the sounds and soundtrack in this cut scene
relate to the narrative and the sounds prove you
high up above the clouds e.g. as you can hear
birds and also the sounds portray your either
dead or injured as in the background you can hear
an ambulance. Also the speech from the God like
figure seems to speak eerie like and this goes with
the eerie soundtrack.
