Game Title Resident Evil 5
Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples that establish… Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have
been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting For the first section of the cut scene it sounds like the scene is taking place in a big
abandoned building because the echo of the footsteps on a hard floor and the echo
of a man screaming and gargling
After that there seems to be a jump cut to the streets or an army base because the
viewer can hear a busy road and what sounds like men in boots running and using
military terminology.
Jumping to the second section of the cut scene the setting sounds to be in a desert
as a big truck or 4x4 drives down a dirt road it then jump cuts to a character
stepping out of the truck and being greeted by another person whilst they walk
through a crowded street from the dialogue it seems like the character is in a rough
Neighbourhood.
the singing from the start was probably recorded
in an isolated studio along with the footsteps and
on a hard floor .
the screaming would also have been recorded in
an isolated studio .
Mood The mood throughout the first section seams shady, eerie, bleak and over all
frightening.
However the second section has a lighter tone but the viewer is still aware of the
horror aspect.
This is brought across using a drone sound
throughout the entirety of the clip
The drone sound was probably creating using a
piano and then recorded through a computer or it
could have been created using a double bass in a
recording studio.
Game genre From the start the viewer can tell that the game is a horror or a thriller because of
the eeriness of the tone and the overall creepiness of the introductory song.
The singing was probably recorded in a recording
studio
The percussion would have also been recorded in
a separate recording studio.
Narrative from the beginning the viewer can hear a man gargling in pain and after that you
can hear another man running and using military terminology this suggests that not
only is it a horror game but it might also be an army or military style game from the
second section the viewer can hear what seems to be the two main characters
named Chris Redfield the lead male and Sheva Alomar the lead female.
The narration would have been recorded in a
recording booth using a microphone in a
soundproof room
