Irish Immigration To Chicago Essay
The history of Irish in Chicago follows a similar pattern to one alike the Irish in other American cities
where they settled in large numbers. Many early immigrants created a visible Irish community which
was sustained by many different key structures, this community stayed relatively together into the
early twentieth century. After that, many of the descended Irish immigrants gradually began to mold
into a more general Catholic American subgroup, though a smaller core of very ethnic Irish still
remain to this time. The early irish immigrants in Chicago had an immense effect on Social,
economic, Religious and political factors in Chicago.
In the 1830s and 1840s, the growth of Irish immigration occurred with significant numbers of Irish
coming to Chicago. Due to the Great Famine in ireland, the number of Irish coming to Chicago grew
exponentially. In the 1850 s, Irish immigrants were responsible for about one fifth of Chicagos
population. Though the number of Irish immigrants in Chicago kept on increasing and getting larger
until the end of the century, the percentage of the Irish in the city s ... Show more content on

They would take the poorly paying jobs that required little skill such as jobs in brickyards,
meatpacking plants, etc. They would settle in the neighborhoods with less money, like Bridgeport on
the South Side or Kilglubbin on the North. It was in one such neighborhood on the South Side of
Chicago where the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 started in the barn of 2 Irish immigrants, Patrick and
Catherine O Leary. The economic status of the Irish Immigrants improved as time passed. The newer
generations of the Irish seems to be better off than their parents economically and educationally. At the
end of the century, the Irish in chicago were still very much a part of the working class and much of
them still lived in

Value Creation Essay
Value creation
Two basic conditions determine a firm s profits: the amount of value customers place on the firm s
goods or services and the firm s costs of production. In general, the more value customers place on a
firm s products, the higher the price the firm can charge for those products. Note, however, that the
price a firm charges for a good and service is typically less then the value placed on that good or
service by the customer. This is so because the customer captures some of that value in the form of
what economists call a consumer surplus.
The value creation by a firm is measured by the difference between the amount of value customers
place on the firm s goods or services (V) and firm s cost of production. Michael porter has ... Show

Mexico has 3 distinct adv over asia. First, it is nearer to US. Second, it has a cheap labor. Third, the
north american free trade agreement has removed many barriers between US and mexico.
Another caveat concerns the importance of assessing political and economic risks when making
location decisions. Even if a country looks very attractive as a production location when measured
against all the standard criteria, if its govt is unstable or totalitarian, the firm might be advised not to
base production there. Or inappropriate economic policies by the govt.
Experience effects
The experience curve refers to systematic reductions in production costs that have been observed to
occur over the life of a product. A number of studies have observed that product s production costs
decline by some quantity about each time accumulated output doubles. The relationship was first
observed in the aircraft industry, where each time accumulated output of airframes was doubled, unit
costs typically declined to 80% of their previous level and it continues.
Experience effects are caused due to: learning effects and economies of scale.
(draw the experience curve pg 419)
Learning effects
Learning effects refer to cost savings that come from learning by doing. Labor, for example, learns by
repetition how to carry out a task, such as assembling airframes, most efficiently. Labor productivity
increases over time as individuals learn the most efficient ways

Essay On Feral Hogs
Feral Hogs and their Impact on the Missouri Ecosystem When the topic of environmental problems is
brought up in social circles, the issues that usually come to mind would be air pollution and the search
for alternative energy; however, there is one issue that is becoming prevalent in a multitude of states
including Missouri is the problem of the invasive nature of feral hogs. This paper will discuss the
prevalence and disruption of Missouri habitats by these hogs. In addition to providing vital
information on the topic, the paper will propose a possible solution for this problem. However, before
a solution can be presented, one must be informed of the people who are directly affected by this
environmental issue. This invasive species affects much of those in rural communities. Some of the
stakeholders that are involved with this problem are farmers both small town and commercial,
conservation workers, nature enthusiasts, and non farming citizens of these communities. The damage
feral hogs can do to land is vast. As stated in the article, Feral Hogs in Missouri, A social group of ten

What Is The Tone Of My Last Duchess
Love, death, and infidelity were weaved through the readings this week. In My Last Duchess by
Robert Browning, the speaker is a Duke who is looking at a painting of his last (now deceased)
Duchess and remembering her. His memories are not fond; he was jealous and possessive, and frankly,
a bit of a drama queen. His suspicion is evident repeatedly, starting in line 13 where he states, Sir, twas
not/ Her husband s presence only, called that spot/ Of joy into the duchess cheek . Lines 21 24 boldly
say what he was alluding to earlier on, She had/ A heart how shall I say? too soon made glad,/ Too
easily impressed: she liked whate er/ She looked on, and her looks went everywhere. She blushed
easily and enjoyed looking at things, so in his mind she was a bit promiscuous. He thought his wife
unfaithful basically because she was polite. This, as well as his uppity attitude, are both made clear in
lines 31 34, She thanked men, good! but thanked/ Somehow I know not how as if she ranked/ My gift
of a nine hundred years old name/ With anybody s gift. He thinks that his name alone is a better gift
than anything else; he s conceited and entitled.

Carpe Diem in Christopher Marlowe´s The Passionate...
Christopher Marlowe s The Passionate Shepherd to His Love and Robert Herrick s To the Virgins,
Make Much of Time share the same common theme of Carpe Diem. They also have many differences
such as the tone, and the type of poem. Marlowe s is more of a romantic poem, a Shepherd expressing
his love to a woman. Herrick s is more of a preachy poem, the poet is telling these young virgins that
they need to hurry up and get married because they do not have much time.
Both Marlowe s The Passionate Shepherd to His Love and Herrick s To the Virgins, Make Much of

Robert Herrick s poem To the Virgins, Make Much of Time is considered to be a preachy type of
poem. The poet is telling young virgins that they need to hurry up and get married because they do not
have much time. Then be not coy, but use your time, and while ye may, go marry (Herrick) The Tone
of this poem is didactic, he is expressing his opinion. He is telling these young unmarried women to
hurry up and get married, and stop wasting time. Gather ye rose buds while ye may: Old Time is still a

Different Interpretations Of The Scarlet Letter
Different Interpretations of The Scarlet Letter
Symbolism is everywhere around us in our daily lives, even if you don t notice it right away. Traffic
signs, company names, and even colors can all be examples of symbolism. Dr. Stephanie Carrez
article, Symbol and Interpretation, focuses on and interprets the different types of symbolism in
Nathaniel Hawthorne s novel, The Scarlet Letter. Focusing mainly on the characters Hester and Pearl,
Carrez article brings symbolism to a new light as she interprets her thoughts. Carrez article shows that
symbolism, allegories, and the different possibilities for interpretation play a vital role in analyzing the
novel s worth by using Pearl and Hester as the main examples for the used literary ... Show more

Towards her mother, too, Pearl s errand as a messenger of anguish was all fulfilled, (Hawthorne). I
believe that the symbolism in this quote is exceptional since it is talking about the spell that Pearl has
broken after kissing her father. When Pearl was born, she was known as the physical embodiment of
Hester Prynne and Mr. Dimmesdale s sin. She didn t show much emotion and didn t appreciate her
father s presence, or didn t know how to, until he was gone. When Pearl kisses Dimmesdale, it is
almost as if she has broken a spell and can now be her own person. Before, she was almost trapped .
She didn t show her own emotions and didn t appreciate what a child normally might. I think when
Pearl kissed Dimmesdale she realized what she had been missing and started to finally realize that she
was about to lose a very important person in her life. Above all, Pearl is shown as a symbol in this
novel by representing that she is a physical example of sin.
Carrez also uses examples of allegory in her article to explain the importance of the novel. Allegory is
a more complex version of symbolism; however, allegory represents one thought, whereas symbolism
is a wide spectrum of objects having different meanings than what they physically mean. Allegory is a
story using symbolism, where symbolism is the

American Women Issues
Women all around the world have done a lot of sacrifices to get both name and fame in the world.
Some of the examples are Ellen Degeneres, Oprah Winfery, Kalpana Chawla, Janet Jackson etc. These
women helped a lot for uplifting the women status in the entire world and most of the girls follow
their footprints to get famous like them in future. But still there are a lot of women who are working in
fields, as a maid worker and in industries in poor condition. These women are facing problems such as
sexual abuse, harassment and high level of violence. In this reaction paper I will be discussing about

women have to go through every day in order to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They should not be treated by men like an object to satisfy their sexual desires. Education can help
women to get out of this dirty situation. Therefore every country should educate their female
population so that they can contribute to economy of the country and can run their family on their own
and do not have to become slave of the men. Also heavy fines should be imposed to those who
sexually abuse, violate and harass women.

Who Is Lily In The Giver
The character I chose to do for my Character Analysis was Lily. Lily is Jonas sister in the community.
She has dark hair and dark eyes and her hair ribbons are always untied. At the beginning of the book,
Lily is a seven, so she wears a front button coat. Then, later in the novel, when Lily turns eight, she
starts wearing a front button coat with smaller buttons and small pockets as a sign that they are old
enough to start keeping track of small belongings . She has very long dreams and always tells a
lengthy description at breakfast. Since she is only eight, she says she is looking forward to getting a
bicycle when she turns nine. She bickers occasionally with Jonas because they are siblings, but they
always make up, because they live in a perfect world. When the family starts taking care of Gabriel,
she becomes attached to him and it is clear she would be a good nurturer, just like her father. She also
has a stuffed comfort object that is an elephant. She usually gets in trouble with her family because of
her careless mannerisms. She talks quickly without thinking and is also very impatient. ... Show more

Lily is angry because a visiting child from another community kept getting in front of her in the line to

recalls that she felt stupid when she and her classmates went to another school in a different
community and Lily had not learned what the teacher there was talking about. Lily feels comforted

It exists in all of us, whether we have money, opportunities, or advantages. Trouble is, most people
don t recognize this power for what it is. They leave it alone, or maybe they don t even know it s there.
Instead, they buy into the line from people in suits, fancy offices, or business schools who tell us that
there s a certain way to start businesses we need money to jump start our business. But that only
works for a few of us and only for a while. Why? Because, take it from me, the power of broke is all
about substance over flash. It s about creativity over certainty. It s about taking a shot over playing it
safe. And here s another thing: The money runs out after a while. Those deep pockets you may or may
not have, they ll never be deep enough to buy all the passion, ingenuity, and determination it takes to
have success over the long haul. Even if you ve got money behind you, there s no guarantee that it will
see you through. It s the money in front of you that counts, after all. It s the money you need, not the
money you have, that makes all the difference (Daymond 1). Being rich is all purchasing power; I don
t think that being rich should determine one s character. Some folks are rich and stay to their own
kind, but then you have some rich folks that feel that money is just money and will associate with the
less fortune. I think about how my parents afforded me with all the latest technology, shoes, clothes,

Theme Of Angela s Ashes And The Street
Theme is the hidden morals within a piece of literature that the author is trying to get readers to
understand. In both Angela s Ashes and The Street, we can distinguish a similar theme. One similar
theme in both stories is struggling to get through life s complications. After reading the two different
excerpts, we can use character, events, and the setting to further our understanding.
In Angela s Ashes, the theme of struggling to get through life s obstacles is shown using character. In
paragraph 4, McCourt writes, You can look in people s windows and see how cozy it is in their
kitchens with fires glowing or ranges black and hot everything bright in the electric light cups and
saucers on the table with plates of sliced bread pounds of butter jars of jam smells of fried eggs... the
mother crisp and clean in her apron everyone washed and the Sacred Heart of Jesus looking down on
them from the wall suffering and sad but still happy with all that food and light and good Catholics at
their breakfast. This quote shows, that the protagonist has been peering into the houses of the rich and
realizes that the rich has everything they want and more. This theme shows that the main character is
jealous of the rich lifestyle because they have more struggles than the rich do. In addition, this theme
is also presented using events. In paragraph 5, In a second I have two bottles of lemonade up under my
jersey and i saunter away trying to look innocent, (McCourt). This quote is

Summary Of Tchaikovsky s The Nutcracker And Stravinsky
Tchaikovsky s The Nutcracker and Stravinsky s Rite of Spring are two of the most influential ballets
to ever be recorded. Their ballets have been played and duplicated for many years. I will start this
paper with a summary of each composer which will include where they are from culturally,
geographically and musically. Then I talk about each ballet. Where it was written, the story behind
each piece, and its reception now and its reception at the time it was published. I will also include the
popularity of each ballet in other forms such as Disney. Finally, I will provide a detailed concert report
of each ballet.
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky was born April 25, 1840, in Votkinsk, Russia. Tchaikovsky was the second
of six born children. He started composing when he was four years old. When he was in his teens his
mother died. It was at this point that his dad realized that his son had a talent in music. So he sent him
off to St. Petersburg Conservatory. After graduating from there he moved to Moscow to teach music
theory at the Russian Musical Society. He did not really like teaching, however, he developed a
relationship with Nikolay Rubinstein and this is where he started composing symphonies. In his mid
years of his life, he traveled Europe showing off all his beautiful pieces of music. He even traveled to
the U.S. to attend the opening of Carnegie Hall. He ended his life living near Moscow and composed
music until the day he died. He is the most popular Russian composer of

Summary Of Huckleberry Finn
Is it ok to deprive people of education? Is it ok to change the past so that few people don t get
offended, but the future leaders of society become ignorant? During the 1840s, in the United States of
America, slavery prevailed despite the huge movements against it. The novel Huckleberry Finn uses
literary fiction to make the reader experience how was life for many different people during those
times. In many places, especially the U. S. A., the book is being banned from schools and libraries
because of its strong language, poor grammar and controversial topics. Mark Twain s novel
Huckleberry Finn should be taught in high schools despite its strong language, poor grammar and

In Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain uses language to represent the different personalities of the
characters. In a brilliant way, he makes you understand the background story of each character and
who they are without saying their names with just reading one dialogue. In the 1840s, just like in the
2015s, people with different races, backgrounds, social status, educations, families and even
experiences can influence a person s manner of speech and accent. Twain makes it look easy to
portray all that in each character through poor grammar . For example with Miss Watson: Don t gap
and stretch like that, Huckleberry why don t you try to behave? (3), in contrast to Pap: begin to do
suthin for him and give him a rest, the law up and goes for him. And they call that govment! (28), in
contrast to Jim: Who? Me? Go long. Doan talk to me bout yo pints. I reck n I knows sense when I sees
it; en dey ain no sense in sich doin s as dat (81). We see the decay of education, status and power in
each quote, which is Twain s goal regarding the grammar and sentence

Does a person s sexual orientation matter when it comes to art, poetry, or even at all. A beautiful

has been assumed that Walt Whitman was a homosexual based on the tone of his poetry writings.
Frances Willard, a pioneer for women and education, also assumed homosexual based on her long

and leave interpretation and opinions to be discussed in the classroom. Teaching openness,

She became president of Evanston College for Ladies; the women s department at Northwestern

Who Is To Blame For Romeo And Juliet s Death Essay
Who must take the blame for the horrendous tragedy of Romeo and Juliet? Due to the historic conflict
between two rival families, Montague and Capulet, two lovers of the name Romeo Montague and
Juliet Capulet cannot be seen together. The rivalry causes Romeo and Juliet great distress in that their
families will never let them be together. Finally, after a failed plan from their pastor Friar Lawrence,
the two lovers unexpectedly commit suicide. Many may ask who is actually to be blamed for Romeo
and Juliet s death. It is clear from various elements in the play that the two families and fate are
responsible for the deaths of the two star crossed lovers. The two families played a huge role in the
events leading up to Romeo and Juliet s deaths. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Capulet only said this to Juliet because she refuses to marry Paris and all he wanted to do was make
Juliet untroubled. Juliet was forced to marry Paris the day after that in which she went to Friar
Lawrence s cell beforehand. She got an elixir that can solve her problems from Lawrence which made
her seem dead, but she is still alive. After all of this, Romeo visits Juliet to sleep with Juliet for
eternity in her tomb thinking she is dead by drinking poison. When Juliet has woken up, she found
Romeo dead. She retrieved a dagger from Friar to kill herself right next to Romeo, thus how did this
tragedy happen. In Conclusion, there are people to take the blame. It all started with the undisputed
hatred between two families which had a negative effect on Romeo, a Montague and Juliet, a Capulet.
The death of family members in Capulet and Montague intensified the energy of being enraged. Juliet
s parents thought it was the best for her to marry Paris, but that made the situation even worse. She
wanted to get away and escape with Romeo, yet that did not happen because of the letter not being

Object Permanence
The third time I visited Vera, I started testing her understanding of object permanence. I did the same
test as last time, with putting her teddy under the blanket. Right when I put the bear under the blanket,
Vera reached under and retrieved the teddy. Since she was able to do that, I tried the A not B error.
When I put the teddy under the first blanket, she got it. Then when I put it under the second blanket,
she looked under the first blanket. This confirmed Piagets theory of the A not B error (Crosby, 108). I
also noticed that Vera enjoys solitary play. If I am in the room with her and sitting on the couch, she
will gladly play with her toys alone. This is not an issue at her age. If she continued this past age five
or six, then it could be a red flag of something such as anxiety according to Burgess, Rubin, Cheah,
and Nelson (Crosby, 489). She also responded to simple requests. For example if you asked for a high
five, she would do it. When I started singing When You re Happy and You know it, she could clap.
The next thing I did was giving Vera her bottle, and to my surprise, she now holds the bottle with one
hand. In addition, I noticed that she was eating most all normal foods now. She had a peanut butter
sandwich cut up in very small pieces. The last thing I did was ask ... Show more content on

The Slippery Slope Argument
Another aspect of the liberal argument is that increasing choices increases freedom (Moazam 211).
Under such thought, a woman with the ability to elect to have a SSA is better off than one who is
limited to being forced to have a female child. Options are seen as freeing, even if the circumstances
they exist under are undesirable or even questionable. Thus, allowing SSA is thought of as a way to
further the liberation of Asian women. Liberal feminists also argue that state interference in the form
of anti SSA legislature is seen as infringing upon women s reproductive rights (Moazam 214). This is
a fundamental realization for liberal feminists, as they see any infringement upon these rights as
having the potential to cause dangerous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still, liberal feminists assure that banning SSA will not get rid of it, as has been argued in the U.S.
regarding abortions in general. With such a tremendous amount of societal pressure to have boys,
women will continue to find ways to have SSA; however, they will be forced to seek out unregulated
practitioners who provide riskier services (Moazam 216). Again, this will cause harm to the very
people that the laws aim at protecting, and without even stopping the actual practice of SSA. Even
some in favor of legally banning SSA admit that current laws aimed at combatting the missing girls
phenomenon must be questioned. For example, Rogers et al. admitted in 2007 that the laws banning
infanticide, abandonment, and neglect of female children in China and India, though they may have
slowed down the practice, do not appear to be effective in stopping SSA (523). For liberal feminists,
the protection of women from unsafe medical procedures that will undoubtedly occur with SSA bans
is essential. However, a ban will still symbolically take a stance against gendered discrimination even
if SSA still occurs at some level. Moreover, additional action can be taken to ensure women s safety.
Shelters and health care provided for women being forced to consider backdoor SSA by those around
them could provide a form of escape from this seemingly inevitable choice . Support for women
affected by domestic violence would also help to

Reflections on a 12-Step Group Meeting Essays
This essay is a reflection on my observation of how a group interacts with each other. The 12 step
meeting I attended was Overeater s Anonymous (OA). OA uses the same Twelve Steps and Twelve
Traditions as Alcoholics Anonymous, the words are changed from alcoholic to compulsive overeater .
The meeting I went to had seven people in attendance even with this small of a group it was definitely
a diverse group. All seven attendees were women whose ages ranged from a young college student to
an elderly homemaker, there was a middle age professional (just left the office type), and a good old
ranch gal boot wearing, hair in a braid ranch women. I was a bit nervous about being there but
someone patted the seat next to herself and I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I thought this was extremely tight control for a small group meeting. However, in looking at the
individual roles I can see that this member may be the complainer of the group. She did not have any
power in the group, and I was about to find out she did not conform to the groups expected behavior.
At this point in the meeting two different group members read the teaching and then Mary, the leader
asked if anyone would like to share an experience. Mary looked at the group complainer and said
please confine your sharing to the disease of compulsive overeating, rather than the events of the day
or week. If anyone is having difficulties please speak to your sponsor or other members after the
meeting. How a member shares is one norm for this group, sharing is timed and sharing needs to
reflect hope or how the member used the program to overcome a difficulty. In an effort to create an
atmosphere of sharing there is absolutely no feedback, cross talk or advice given during share time;
this group norm is called a conscious. Mary, the leader stated the chair for each meeting had the
discretion to let another member know if she was off topic or was speaking to long. Our group
complainer wanted to share first; I almost heard a cohesive group sigh. This member started her share
time with what was foremost on her mind, changing the meeting time to 7:30! The young college girl
asked if she could share at this point.
As the young college girl began sharing

Norris case which was brought up in the courtroom; Mr. Hard was not as drunk. (Ashlock v. Norris,
475 N.E.2d 1167, 1170 (Ind. Ct. App. 1985). The bartender, Mr. John Daniels did not have any
definite awareness of Mr. Hard s intoxication. Mr. Daniels is not able to recall any unusual behavior
that was displayed by Mr. Hard. He does not have any reclamation of observing Mr. Edward Hard
tripping over the pool stick because he had stepped away from the room. He did witness an argument
start at the entrance doorway between Mr. Bruno White and Mr. Edward Hard in which Mr. Hard
provoked. There were no additional drinks served after the altercation took place, the final alcoholic
beverage had been ordered and served prior to the incident and therefore is not said to be actual
knowledge. The last drink is the cutoff point for the statue and where the definite ruling intervenes.
The process is in order to try and obtain an abstract opinion from Mr. John Daniels stating that he had
no familiarity of Mr. Hard being drunk. When Mr. Edward Hard left the O Malley s Tavern he
followed Mr. Bruno White in a careless manner, damaging numerous vehicles and consequently
hitting Mr. White s automobile and killing him. The direct aim of Mr. Hard is being safeguarded with
the implication of a motor vehicle accident while being intoxicated. The understanding and cause of
the intoxication is not what is relevant, however the altercation that occurred at

Ivan Shikhovich Pride
In the book, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Alexander Solzhenitsyn, it is understandable
that the main character personal pride and dignity are essential to his survival in the harsh conditions
of the Gulag system. Shukhov displays this personal pride and dignity throughout the book and
continues to earn respect from his fellow inmates by working extra hard and earnings extra food and
favors because of that. Furthermore, it is remarkable how Shukhov continues to have hopes for a new
day, which is why he was able to survive the gulag system for ten years. Even after several years
living in the harsh conditions of the gulag system, Shukhov remains prideful and clever. For example,
Shukhov s cleverness earns him extra food for his squad members and ... Show more content on

It is obvious that he does not respect Fetyukov who is always trying to beg the prisoners for things or
tries to steal them. He looks down on Fetyukov like Tsezar and refuses to associate with him. For
example, because Tsezar respects Shukhov and gives him extra food, he ignores Fetyukov. In the text,
it states: It was because he didn t want to be interrupted while smoking and asked for a puff that he
had taken up a pipe , then Tzesar says to Shukhov, Take it, Ivan Denisovich (30). Tsezar looks up to
Shukhov and not Fetyukov because unlike Shukhov, Fetyukov begs for his resources instead of
working for it. Furthermore, Shukhov is recognized for his hard work ethic and respected unlike
Fetyukov is when Fetyukov walked through the barracks. He was sobbing... his mouth was smeared
with blood. So he d been beaten again over the bowls (150). A person like Fetyukov is a perfect
example of a prisoner who had lost their pride and dignity in the gulag unlike Shukhov, he keeps his
personal pride and dignity in tact which plays an important role in helping him survive the gulag

Narrative Essay On Huck Finn
The person I have the hardest time identifying with is Huck.
I believe that the world is full of adventures and that I would like to go on with my friends Tom and
Joe. I m a thirteen year old son of the local drunk and a protagonist. I live in a small town of St.
Petersburg, Missouri. So far I ve been on many adventures with my friends. I was a witness to a
murder, lived on an island, and became rich. Witnessing a person s murder was pretty scary but I had
my best friend there with me. We swore to keep our mouths shut but when my friend potter was
accused, I felt really bad, but if I told what I saw I would a been a goner. But my friend tom told, at

Examples Of Reversal Of Motive
2.2 Reversal of Motive
According to Worley the second type of twist is the reversal of motive (2014). The following part will
introduce what is meant with a motive twist by means of two movies.
The first example is Gone Baby Gone, in which a child with a drug addict mother goes missing (cf.
Heerum 2010: 37). Two private detectives provide assistance with the on going police investigation in
order to bring the truth to light. As the plot unfolds, it turns out that the kidnapping was only faked and
that the little girl is very well. The police captain is raising the child with his wife giving her a happy
alternative than living with her mother (cf. Heerum 2010: 38). This thriller has a very concealed twist;
the kidnapping case fabricated by the police captain definitely exceeds the viewers expectation as his
real motive comes true.
A further movie with a very complex plot is Lucky Number Slevin. The main character, Slevin is
mistaken for somebody else, who owes debts to two mafia bosses. Lurking on the fringes of the story
an international assassin is hired by both bosses to kill Slevin after he delivers the money. In the end it
turns out that Slevin is out for reaching the men responsible for his parents death and kills the two
bosses. He manages is with the help of the assassin, who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Princess And The Frog
Disney films over their course of existence have hidden double meanings in many of the films they
produce. Rather if you are a child or a full pledged adult, people from all different ages can receive a
bit of advice when it comes to what Disney films try to convey in their motion pictures. Disney is also
to be known for some of their unforgettable whimsical characters and memorable songs in every film.
The film released in 2009 The Princess and The Frog is no different. Especially when it comes to
Mama s Odie s musical number half way through the film. Mama s Odie s song, Dig a Little Deeper is
full of metaphors, themes and imagery one can deeply analyze.
At the same time we can apply the song, Dig a Little Deeper, to various characters we have come to
learn and explore through the several novels we have covered over the course of the semester. We can
also apply it to the distinct issues pertaining to women in the South.
The title of the song itself gives the viewer the overall significant and direct theme of the piece right
away. It urges a person to go beyond the surface of a circumstance almost saying as if to go into the
root or origin of the matter. To find who a person really is at the core of their being. At the start of the
song Mama Odie comes off as a non judgmental person. Don t matter what you look like. Don t matter
what you wear. How many rings you got on your finger. We don t care. Being in front of her and don

Theme Of Gender In Othello
In creating our collage, we wanted to convey one of the central themes in Othello, and that is one of
female inferiority. While we don t know if Shakespeare was either mocking or reflecting the society
he was living in, the theme is presented as one that was important to the lives of Othello and his men.
We touched on many different aspects of how women were projected in the book, as well as
throughout different time periods in our physical representation of the theme. With the use of color,
words, and images we collectively explicated how both of us interpreted the book and how the class
interpreted our theme, as discussed in class. Our collage had many graphic including one of a

While there is an uprising of feminism in our generation, there is still a huge ignorance of central
issues in the ways women are portrayed. Just as the characters of Desdemona and Emilia represented
the two extremes of the female representation in Othello, our collage and its reactions are the three
ideas we see in today s society: the complete awareness of issues, the negation of action on them, and
the ignorance of them. While the world we live in recognizes these issues, there is little action to
improve the negative aspects of them. These women could have taken down the poster, or reacted
negatively to it, but instead they eventually just left it how it was. While this is a harsh reality, it is still
something all women must face every day; this could explain the mildness of their reactions. The fact
that these reactions were so mild completely reflects the issues in today s society, and shows just how
little of a difference there between Othello and modern

The more molecules that are able to escape into the vapor, the greater the decrease in temperature due
to evaporative cooling. Thus, a larger negative ΔT corresponds to a substance in which the IMFs are
weak. A greater number of electrons correspond to a great polarizability of a molecule. Greater
polarizability leads to greater dispersion forces. Thus, as molar mass increases, the number of
electrons increase, which increases the polarizability of the molecule and hence the strength of the
dispersion forces of the substance. 4. In Molecular Series II (Branched Chain Alcohols): As you go
through the group from 1 butanol  sec butanol  1 ter butanol: A. The dipole moments, surface area

Analysis Of Paul Pleas With The Corinthians
Putting pen to paper, Paul pleas with the Corinthians to better themselves through Christ Jesus. While
in discourse with the Corinthians, the polemic language of Paul becomes, at times, difficult to digest.
While pursuing a better relationship with the believers in Corinth, the apostle often used terms such as
we, our, and us. These pronouns can be understood in multiple ways; however, the manner in which
they are comprehended sheds light on Paul s agenda. In the analysis of 2 Corinthians 4: 8 18, the
pronouns are best understood as being inclusive in terms of Paul, his followers, and the believers in
Corinth.
According to a study by Brown, the apostle Paul was likely born in approximately 5 to 10 AD which
was during the reign of the emperor Augustus . Paul was a melting pot of several different cultures. At
the time, the Hellenistic movement was sweeping the Roman empire; thus the Greek and Roman
cultures both had their influences on citizens. So, too, Paul s parents were of Jewish descent; while he
was young, they sent him to Jerusalem to study under a Pharisaic instructor . The intermingling of a
multiplicity of cultures renders Paul a very diverse teacher.
With the ability to assimilate to various aspects of the universal Roman society, the apostle is able to
relate to and address many different types of people. This aspect of his life makes Paul able to apply
the collective we when instructing believers of opposing backgrounds. Likewise, after his conversion

Alfalfa Sprouts, The Newest Pathogen Carrier
Alfalfa Sprouts, the Newest Pathogen Carrier
In the world today, nobody is safe. Whether it is from terrorist attacks, falling meteors or food
outbreaks. Recently, there have been food produce outbreaks related to raw sprouts, especially alfalfa
sprouts. These outbreaks have been related mostly to the pathogens Escherichia Coli 0157:H7 and
Salmonella. Some symptoms related to these pathogens include diarrhea, cramps, stomach pain, and
potential fever. These symptoms alone make people want to be extra careful when picking out their
produce at the supermarket. The hardest part of these outbreaks are that people are dealing with raw
spouts. Raw sprouts can be a great carrier of these pathogens, and there are no one way to get rid of
every single pathogen exactly (Winthrop et al., 2002). These outbreaks can be from poor cleaning
practices, imports of produce from other countries, or buying from larger food chains.
In recent years, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have set new regulations and standards that
people who are producing raw sprouts, alfalfa sprouts, need to follow in order to reduce the amount of
outbreaks related to E. coli, Salmonella, and other related pathogens. There are multiply different
ways to treat raw sprouts from seeds to full growth. No one way is right, but it is recommended that
people do whatever possible to keep consumers and themselves safe. Some of these regulations that
are put in place, include the disinfection of seeds and sprouts, as

What Are The Similarities Between The Julius Caesar And...
The last century of the Roman Republic holds two of greatest political alliances in history, the First
Triumvirate, created in 60 BC, and the Second Triumvirate, created in 43 BC. While the circumstances
and actions of these two unions are very different, they tend to have vey similar trends. Three men
come together to increase their political power, take control of the Republic, and fight against a
particular group that opposes them. First, we shall look at the creations of these two alliances, as they
seem to have distinct similarities. The characters that fill these two coalitions, a brilliant politician, a
military commander, and a successful senator, share similar qualities in themselves. Finally, they both
end in a similar fashion, as the two more successful men fight for control of the Roman State. In 60
BC Gaius Julius Caesar returned to Rome from his governorship of Hispania Ulterior. There he has
successfully campaigned against local tribes and given a triumph. Roman law stated that generals
given a triumph had to stay outside the city until the triumph commenced, but Caesar also wanted to
run for the consulship of 59 BC, which he had to be in the city to declare. The Senate, led by Cato,
denied his request to run in absentia, so Caesar gave up his triumph to become a candidate. Caesar had
a lot of opposition against him in the senate, especially from the optimates. The greatest Roman
general in 60 BC is Gneaus Pompeius, a man given the title Magnus (The Great)

The Body Theory And Its Strength And Weaknesses
Am I the same person today as I was yesterday? Will I be the same person a few years from now as I
am now? Kagan explains a few theories that can help with figuring out what makes me, me. There is
the soul theory, the body theory, and the personality theory. The body theory consists of the brain and
body theory and the torso and body theory. After looking into each theory carefully through Kagan s
lectures, I found that there were flaws in all three theories. The theory that I favor, however, is the
body theory and more specifically the brain aspect of that theory. In my essay I will discuss why I
favor the body theory and its strength and weaknesses. I will also discuss Kagan s take on survival.
To start with, the body theory is not mysterious like the soul theory. If I believed in souls, and favored
the soul theory, how could I prove that I did not get a new soul every five hours or three days? I would
not be able to. The body theory means having the same body. This also means having most of your
same body. For example, in Star Wars when Luke Skywalker got his hand cut off, he still had most of
his body; therefore, he is the same person.
Now there are some problems with this theory as Kagan points out. The problem is resurrection. There
is no current proof of a body being resurrected from the ground, but there is a possibility of bodily
resurrection that cannot be denied. The issue with bodily resurrection is that it draws the question, is
the resurrected body really

Pm3110 Unit 6 Lab Report
This chapter discusses the procedure followed and the assumptions made while setting up the design
point and part load simulation. The NPSS solver uses a set of independent and dependent variables
that is declared by the elements and the user. The independents are varied with each solver iteration
until the dependent variables satisfy their specified condition [22].
The heat rise element, i.e. nuclear reactor is modeled in such a way that the temperature of helium
exiting the reactor and entering the helium turbine is maintained at 1173 K (900 0C). During part load
operation of the Brayton cycle, the mass flow rate is reduced. By reducing the reactor power output,
the temperature of helium can be maintained at the design point value. Load following ... Show more

In order to maintain synchronous speeds with the gas turbine while still reducing or increasing power
output, the engine must be properly controlled [27]. The control of the engine depends on where in the
part load curve the engine is operating [27].
The reduction in mass flow rate causes the compressor pressure ratio and efficiency to drop [27]. As
the mass flow rate is reduced, the turbine exhaust gas temperature increases to maintain energy
balance [27]. The mass flow rate of helium can be decreased to a limit until either material restrictions
at the turbine exit or heat exchanger inlet prohibit the higher temperatures [27] or the efficiency of the
turbomachinery falls below an acceptable level.
There is a coupling effect between the two systems when the Brayton cycle is operated at part load.
The coupling occurs due to two constraints; helium must be cooled to its design point temperature
after passing through the heat exchanger and the temperature of steam entering the turbine must be
maintained at its design point temperature. The solver calculates the new mass flow rate of water
required to cool the helium. The change in mass flow rate of steam due to the reduction of Brayton
cycle mass flow rate causes a change in the Rankine cycle power output.

Zen Buddhism And The Zen School
Zen Buddhism originated from Chinese Ch an Buddhism that was transmitted to Japan. The Zen
school was known as one of the many Buddhist religion in Japan. In Japan, Zen is defined as the
buddha mind, ...the ultimate reality, or emptiness, of all things and the enlightened state, or knowledge
of that reality, characteristic of a buddha (Bielefeldt 1995: 198). Zen emphasizes on the insight into
the Buddha nature through seated meditation (zazen), meditation practice, and teacher sudden
interaction. Zazen was understood as an expression of the Buddha nature. Zen Buddhism, focus on a
separate transmission outside scripture, not depend on words or letters, a school based solely on the
teaching of Bodhidharma, which points directly at the person s mind, enabling one to see his own
nature and become a budhha ( Bielefeldt 2002: 5). The teaching of Zen was divided into two distinct
monastic schools: The Northern school (Shen hsiu) and the Southern school (Hui neng). This paper
will show that the difference between the teaching of Gradual and Sudden have affected the way
people traditionally perceive enlightenment through the Northern school and Southern school of
teaching and Shen hui criticism of the Northern school practice.
Buddhism is the teaching of enlightenment and to achieve enlightenment is the reason why people
practice this religion. Enlightenment refers to a singular, intense experience of insight that one has
achieved self realization. One who attains a state of

  • 2. Irish Immigration To Chicago Essay The history of Irish in Chicago follows a similar pattern to one alike the Irish in other American cities where they settled in large numbers. Many early immigrants created a visible Irish community which was sustained by many different key structures, this community stayed relatively together into the early twentieth century. After that, many of the descended Irish immigrants gradually began to mold into a more general Catholic American subgroup, though a smaller core of very ethnic Irish still remain to this time. The early irish immigrants in Chicago had an immense effect on Social, economic, Religious and political factors in Chicago. In the 1830s and 1840s, the growth of Irish immigration occurred with significant numbers of Irish coming to Chicago. Due to the Great Famine in ireland, the number of Irish coming to Chicago grew exponentially. In the 1850 s, Irish immigrants were responsible for about one fifth of Chicagos population. Though the number of Irish immigrants in Chicago kept on increasing and getting larger until the end of the century, the percentage of the Irish in the city s ... The economic status of the Irish Immigrants improved as time passed. The newer generations of the Irish seems to be better off than their parents economically and educationally. • 3. Value Creation Essay Value creation Two basic conditions determine a firm s profits: the amount of value customers place on the firm s goods or services and the firm s costs of production. In general, the more value customers place on a firm s products, the higher the price the firm can charge for those products. Note, however, that the price a firm charges for a good and service is typically less then the value placed on that good or service by the customer. This is so because the customer captures some of that value in the form of what economists call a consumer surplus. The value creation by a firm is measured by the difference between the amount of value customers place on the firm s goods or services (V) and firm s cost of production. Michael porter has ... Third, the north american free trade agreement has removed many barriers between US and mexico. Another caveat concerns the importance of assessing political and economic risks when making location decisions. Even if a country looks very attractive as a production location when measured against all the standard criteria, if its govt is unstable or totalitarian, the firm might be advised not to base production there. Or inappropriate economic policies by the govt. Experience effects The experience curve refers to systematic reductions in production costs that have been observed to occur over the life of a product. A number of studies have observed that product s production costs decline by some quantity about each time accumulated output doubles. The relationship was first observed in the aircraft industry, where each time accumulated output of airframes was doubled, unit costs typically declined to 80% of their previous level and it continues. Experience effects are caused due to: learning effects and economies of scale. (draw the experience curve pg 419) Learning effects Learning effects refer to cost savings that come from learning by doing. Labor, for example, learns by repetition how to carry out a task, such as assembling airframes, most efficiently. Labor productivity increases over time as individuals learn the most efficient ways

Essay On Feral Hogs Feral Hogs and their Impact on the Missouri Ecosystem When the topic of environmental problems is brought up in social circles, the issues that usually come to mind would be air pollution and the search for alternative energy; however, there is one issue that is becoming prevalent in a multitude of states including Missouri is the problem of the invasive nature of feral hogs. This paper will discuss the prevalence and disruption of Missouri habitats by these hogs. In addition to providing vital information on the topic, the paper will propose a possible solution for this problem. However, before a solution can be presented, one must be informed of the people who are directly affected by this environmental issue. This invasive species affects much of those in rural communities. Some of the stakeholders that are involved with this problem are farmers both small town and commercial, conservation workers, nature enthusiasts, and non farming citizens of these communities. The damage feral hogs can do to land is vast. As stated in the article, Feral Hogs in Missouri, A social group of ten hogs can destroy 20 30 acres overnight, including crops, causing ... • 6. What Is The Tone Of My Last Duchess Love, death, and infidelity were weaved through the readings this week. In My Last Duchess by Robert Browning, the speaker is a Duke who is looking at a painting of his last (now deceased) Duchess and remembering her. His memories are not fond; he was jealous and possessive, and frankly, a bit of a drama queen. His suspicion is evident repeatedly, starting in line 13 where he states, Sir, twas not/ Her husband s presence only, called that spot/ Of joy into the duchess cheek . Lines 21 24 boldly say what he was alluding to earlier on, She had/ A heart how shall I say? too soon made glad,/ Too easily impressed: she liked whate er/ She looked on, and her looks went everywhere. She blushed easily and enjoyed looking at things, so in his mind she was a bit promiscuous. He thought his wife unfaithful basically because she was polite. This, as well as his uppity attitude, are both made clear in lines 31 34, She thanked men, good! but thanked/ Somehow I know not how as if she ranked/ My gift of a nine hundred years old name/ With anybody s gift. He thinks that his name alone is a better gift than anything else; he s conceited and entitled. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Traffic signs, company names, and even colors can all be examples of symbolism. Dr. Stephanie Carrez article, Symbol and Interpretation, focuses on and interprets the different types of symbolism in Nathaniel Hawthorne s novel, The Scarlet Letter. Focusing mainly on the characters Hester and Pearl, Carrez article brings symbolism to a new light as she interprets her thoughts. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Towards her mother, too, Pearl s errand as a messenger of anguish was all fulfilled, (Hawthorne). I believe that the symbolism in this quote is exceptional since it is talking about the spell that Pearl has broken after kissing her father. When Pearl was born, she was known as the physical embodiment of Hester Prynne and Mr. Dimmesdale s sin. She didn t show much emotion and didn t appreciate her father s presence, or didn t know how to, until he was gone. When Pearl kisses Dimmesdale, it is almost as if she has broken a spell and can now be her own person. Before, she was almost trapped . She didn t show her own emotions and didn t appreciate what a child normally might. I think when Pearl kissed Dimmesdale she realized what she had been missing and started to finally realize that she was about to lose a very important person in her life. Above all, Pearl is shown as a symbol in this novel by representing that she is a physical example of sin. Carrez also uses examples of allegory in her article to explain the importance of the novel. Allegory is a more complex version of symbolism; however, allegory represents one thought, whereas symbolism is a wide spectrum of objects having different meanings than what they physically mean. She has dark hair and dark eyes and her hair ribbons are always untied. At the beginning of the book, Lily is a seven, so she wears a front button coat. Then, later in the novel, when Lily turns eight, she starts wearing a front button coat with smaller buttons and small pockets as a sign that they are old enough to start keeping track of small belongings . She has very long dreams and always tells a lengthy description at breakfast. Since she is only eight, she says she is looking forward to getting a bicycle when she turns nine. She bickers occasionally with Jonas because they are siblings, but they always make up, because they live in a perfect world. When the family starts taking care of Gabriel, she becomes attached to him and it is clear she would be a good nurturer, just like her father. But that only works for a few of us and only for a while. Why? Because, take it from me, the power of broke is all about substance over flash. It s about creativity over certainty. In both Angela s Ashes and The Street, we can distinguish a similar theme. One similar theme in both stories is struggling to get through life s complications. After reading the two different excerpts, we can use character, events, and the setting to further our understanding. In Angela s Ashes, the theme of struggling to get through life s obstacles is shown using character. In paragraph 4, McCourt writes, You can look in people s windows and see how cozy it is in their kitchens with fires glowing or ranges black and hot everything bright in the electric light cups and saucers on the table with plates of sliced bread pounds of butter jars of jam smells of fried eggs... the mother crisp and clean in her apron everyone washed and the Sacred Heart of Jesus looking down on them from the wall suffering and sad but still happy with all that food and light and good Catholics at their breakfast. This theme shows that the main character is jealous of the rich lifestyle because they have more struggles than the rich do. In addition, this theme is also presented using events. After graduating from there he moved to Moscow to teach music theory at the Russian Musical Society. Twain makes it look easy to portray all that in each character through poor grammar . For example with Miss Watson: Don t gap and stretch like that, Huckleberry why don t you try to behave? The rivalry causes Romeo and Juliet great distress in that their families will never let them be together. Finally, after a failed plan from their pastor Friar Lawrence, the two lovers unexpectedly commit suicide. Many may ask who is actually to be blamed for Romeo and Juliet s death. It is clear from various elements in the play that the two families and fate are responsible for the deaths of the two star crossed lovers. The two families played a huge role in the events leading up to Romeo and Juliet s deaths. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Capulet only said this to Juliet because she refuses to marry Paris and all he wanted to do was make Juliet untroubled. Juliet was forced to marry Paris the day after that in which she went to Friar Lawrence s cell beforehand. She got an elixir that can solve her problems from Lawrence which made her seem dead, but she is still alive. After all of this, Romeo visits Juliet to sleep with Juliet for eternity in her tomb thinking she is dead by drinking poison. When Juliet has woken up, she found Romeo dead. She retrieved a dagger from Friar to kill herself right next to Romeo, thus how did this tragedy happen. In Conclusion, there are people to take the blame. It all started with the undisputed hatred between two families which had a negative effect on Romeo, a Montague and Juliet, a Capulet. The death of family members in Capulet and Montague intensified the energy of being enraged. Juliet s parents thought it was the best for her to marry Paris, but that made the situation even worse. She wanted to get away and escape with Romeo, yet that did not happen because of the letter not being sent due to quarantine. • 19. Object Permanence The third time I visited Vera, I started testing her understanding of object permanence. I did the same test as last time, with putting her teddy under the blanket. Right when I put the bear under the blanket, Vera reached under and retrieved the teddy. Since she was able to do that, I tried the A not B error. When I put the teddy under the first blanket, she got it. Then when I put it under the second blanket, she looked under the first blanket. This confirmed Piagets theory of the A not B error (Crosby, 108). I also noticed that Vera enjoys solitary play. If I am in the room with her and sitting on the couch, she will gladly play with her toys alone. This is not an issue at her age. If she continued this past age five or six, then it could be a red flag of something such as anxiety according to Burgess, Rubin, Cheah, and Nelson (Crosby, 489). She also responded to simple requests. For example if you asked for a high five, she would do it. When I started singing When You re Happy and You know it, she could clap. The next thing I did was giving Vera her bottle, and to my surprise, she now holds the bottle with one hand. In addition, I noticed that she was eating most all normal foods now. • 20. The Slippery Slope Argument Another aspect of the liberal argument is that increasing choices increases freedom (Moazam 211). Under such thought, a woman with the ability to elect to have a SSA is better off than one who is limited to being forced to have a female child. Options are seen as freeing, even if the circumstances they exist under are undesirable or even questionable. Thus, allowing SSA is thought of as a way to further the liberation of Asian women. Liberal feminists also argue that state interference in the form of anti SSA legislature is seen as infringing upon women s reproductive rights (Moazam 214). This is a fundamental realization for liberal feminists, as they see any infringement upon these rights as having the potential to cause dangerous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Still, liberal feminists assure that banning SSA will not get rid of it, as has been argued in the U.S. regarding abortions in general. With such a tremendous amount of societal pressure to have boys, women will continue to find ways to have SSA; however, they will be forced to seek out unregulated practitioners who provide riskier services (Moazam 216). Again, this will cause harm to the very people that the laws aim at protecting, and without even stopping the actual practice of SSA. Even some in favor of legally banning SSA admit that current laws aimed at combatting the missing girls phenomenon must be questioned. For example, Rogers et al. admitted in 2007 that the laws banning infanticide, abandonment, and neglect of female children in China and India, though they may have slowed down the practice, do not appear to be effective in stopping SSA (523). For liberal feminists, the protection of women from unsafe medical procedures that will undoubtedly occur with SSA bans is essential. However, a ban will still symbolically take a stance against gendered discrimination even if SSA still occurs at some level. Moreover, additional action can be taken to ensure women s safety. Shelters and health care provided for women being forced to consider backdoor SSA by those around them could provide a form of escape from this seemingly inevitable choice . At this point in the meeting two different group members read the teaching and then Mary, the leader asked if anyone would like to share an experience. Mary looked at the group complainer and said please confine your sharing to the disease of compulsive overeating, rather than the events of the day or week. If anyone is having difficulties please speak to your sponsor or other members after the meeting. How a member shares is one norm for this group, sharing is timed and sharing needs to reflect hope or how the member used the program to overcome a difficulty. In an effort to create an atmosphere of sharing there is absolutely no feedback, cross talk or advice given during share time; this group norm is called a conscious. Mary, the leader stated the chair for each meeting had the discretion to let another member know if she was off topic or was speaking to long. Our group complainer wanted to share first; I almost heard a cohesive group sigh. This member started her share time with what was foremost on her mind, changing the meeting time to 7:30! • 25. Examples Of Reversal Of Motive 2.2 Reversal of Motive According to Worley the second type of twist is the reversal of motive (2014). The following part will introduce what is meant with a motive twist by means of two movies. The first example is Gone Baby Gone, in which a child with a drug addict mother goes missing (cf. Heerum 2010: 37). Two private detectives provide assistance with the on going police investigation in order to bring the truth to light. As the plot unfolds, it turns out that the kidnapping was only faked and that the little girl is very well. The police captain is raising the child with his wife giving her a happy alternative than living with her mother (cf. Heerum 2010: 38). This thriller has a very concealed twist; the kidnapping case fabricated by the police captain definitely exceeds the viewers expectation as his real motive comes true. A further movie with a very complex plot is Lucky Number Slevin. The main character, Slevin is mistaken for somebody else, who owes debts to two mafia bosses. Lurking on the fringes of the story an international assassin is hired by both bosses to kill Slevin after he delivers the money. Disney is also to be known for some of their unforgettable whimsical characters and memorable songs in every film. The film released in 2009 The Princess and The Frog is no different. Especially when it comes to Mama s Odie s musical number half way through the film. Mama s Odie s song, Dig a Little Deeper is full of metaphors, themes and imagery one can deeply analyze. At the same time we can apply the song, Dig a Little Deeper, to various characters we have come to learn and explore through the several novels we have covered over the course of the semester. We can also apply it to the distinct issues pertaining to women in the South. The title of the song itself gives the viewer the overall significant and direct theme of the piece right away. It urges a person to go beyond the surface of a circumstance almost saying as if to go into the root or origin of the matter. To find who a person really is at the core of their being. We touched on many different aspects of how women were projected in the book, as well as throughout different time periods in our physical representation of the theme. With the use of color, words, and images we collectively explicated how both of us interpreted the book and how the class interpreted our theme, as discussed in class. While the world we live in recognizes these issues, there is little action to improve the negative aspects of them. These women could have taken down the poster, or reacted negatively to it, but instead they eventually just left it how it was. While this is a harsh reality, it is still something all women must face every day; this could explain the mildness of their reactions. Thus, a larger negative ΔT corresponds to a substance in which the IMFs are weak. A greater number of electrons correspond to a great polarizability of a molecule. Greater polarizability leads to greater dispersion forces. Thus, as molar mass increases, the number of electrons increase, which increases the polarizability of the molecule and hence the strength of the dispersion forces of the substance. 4. In Molecular Series II (Branched Chain Alcohols): As you go through the group from 1 butanol  sec butanol  1 ter butanol: A. • 29. Analysis Of Paul Pleas With The Corinthians Putting pen to paper, Paul pleas with the Corinthians to better themselves through Christ Jesus. While in discourse with the Corinthians, the polemic language of Paul becomes, at times, difficult to digest. While pursuing a better relationship with the believers in Corinth, the apostle often used terms such as we, our, and us. These pronouns can be understood in multiple ways; however, the manner in which they are comprehended sheds light on Paul s agenda. In the analysis of 2 Corinthians 4: 8 18, the pronouns are best understood as being inclusive in terms of Paul, his followers, and the believers in Corinth. According to a study by Brown, the apostle Paul was likely born in approximately 5 to 10 AD which was during the reign of the emperor Augustus . Paul was a melting pot of several different cultures. At the time, the Hellenistic movement was sweeping the Roman empire; thus the Greek and Roman cultures both had their influences on citizens. So, too, Paul s parents were of Jewish descent; while he was young, they sent him to Jerusalem to study under a Pharisaic instructor . The intermingling of a multiplicity of cultures renders Paul a very diverse teacher. With the ability to assimilate to various aspects of the universal Roman society, the apostle is able to relate to and address many different types of people. This aspect of his life makes Paul able to apply the collective we when instructing believers of opposing backgrounds. Likewise, after his conversion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whether it is from terrorist attacks, falling meteors or food outbreaks. Recently, there have been food produce outbreaks related to raw sprouts, especially alfalfa sprouts. These outbreaks have been related mostly to the pathogens Escherichia Coli 0157:H7 and Salmonella. Some symptoms related to these pathogens include diarrhea, cramps, stomach pain, and potential fever. These symptoms alone make people want to be extra careful when picking out their produce at the supermarket. The hardest part of these outbreaks are that people are dealing with raw spouts. Raw sprouts can be a great carrier of these pathogens, and there are no one way to get rid of every single pathogen exactly (Winthrop et al., 2002). These outbreaks can be from poor cleaning practices, imports of produce from other countries, or buying from larger food chains. In recent years, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have set new regulations and standards that people who are producing raw sprouts, alfalfa sprouts, need to follow in order to reduce the amount of outbreaks related to E. coli, Salmonella, and other related pathogens. The last century of the Roman Republic holds two of greatest political alliances in history, the First Triumvirate, created in 60 BC, and the Second Triumvirate, created in 43 BC. While the circumstances and actions of these two unions are very different, they tend to have vey similar trends. Three men come together to increase their political power, take control of the Republic, and fight against a particular group that opposes them. First, we shall look at the creations of these two alliances, as they seem to have distinct similarities. The characters that fill these two coalitions, a brilliant politician, a military commander, and a successful senator, share similar qualities in themselves. Finally, they both end in a similar fashion, as the two more successful men fight for control of the Roman State. In 60 BC Gaius Julius Caesar returned to Rome from his governorship of Hispania Ulterior. There he has successfully campaigned against local tribes and given a triumph. Roman law stated that generals given a triumph had to stay outside the city until the triumph commenced, but Caesar also wanted to run for the consulship of 59 BC, which he had to be in the city to declare. The Senate, led by Cato, denied his request to run in absentia, so Caesar gave up his triumph to become a candidate. • 32. The Body Theory And Its Strength And Weaknesses Am I the same person today as I was yesterday? Will I be the same person a few years from now as I am now? Kagan explains a few theories that can help with figuring out what makes me, me. There is the soul theory, the body theory, and the personality theory. The body theory consists of the brain and body theory and the torso and body theory. After looking into each theory carefully through Kagan s lectures, I found that there were flaws in all three theories. The theory that I favor, however, is the body theory and more specifically the brain aspect of that theory. In my essay I will discuss why I favor the body theory and its strength and weaknesses. I will also discuss Kagan s take on survival. To start with, the body theory is not mysterious like the soul theory. If I believed in souls, and favored the soul theory, how could I prove that I did not get a new soul every five hours or three days? I would not be able to. The body theory means having the same body. This also means having most of your same body. For example, in Star Wars when Luke Skywalker got his hand cut off, he still had most of his body; therefore, he is the same person. Now there are some problems with this theory as Kagan points out. The problem is resurrection. There is no current proof of a body being resurrected from the ground, but there is a possibility of bodily resurrection that cannot be denied. The issue with bodily resurrection is that it draws the question, is the resurrected body really ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The NPSS solver uses a set of independent and dependent variables that is declared by the elements and the user. The independents are varied with each solver iteration until the dependent variables satisfy their specified condition [22]. The heat rise element, i.e. nuclear reactor is modeled in such a way that the temperature of helium exiting the reactor and entering the helium turbine is maintained at 1173 K (900 0C). During part load operation of the Brayton cycle, the mass flow rate is reduced. By reducing the reactor power output, the temperature of helium can be maintained at the design point value. Load following ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to maintain synchronous speeds with the gas turbine while still reducing or increasing power output, the engine must be properly controlled [27]. The control of the engine depends on where in the part load curve the engine is operating [27]. The reduction in mass flow rate causes the compressor pressure ratio and efficiency to drop [27]. As the mass flow rate is reduced, the turbine exhaust gas temperature increases to maintain energy balance [27]. The mass flow rate of helium can be decreased to a limit until either material restrictions at the turbine exit or heat exchanger inlet prohibit the higher temperatures [27] or the efficiency of the turbomachinery falls below an acceptable level. There is a coupling effect between the two systems when the Brayton cycle is operated at part load. The coupling occurs due to two constraints; helium must be cooled to its design point temperature after passing through the heat exchanger and the temperature of steam entering the turbine must be maintained at its design point temperature. The solver calculates the new mass flow rate of water required to cool the helium. The change in mass flow rate of steam due to the reduction of Brayton cycle mass flow rate causes a change in the Rankine cycle power output. 4.3 Rankine Part Load ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Japan, Zen is defined as the buddha mind, ...the ultimate reality, or emptiness, of all things and the enlightened state, or knowledge of that reality, characteristic of a buddha (Bielefeldt 1995: 198). Zen emphasizes on the insight into the Buddha nature through seated meditation (zazen), meditation practice, and teacher sudden interaction. Zen Buddhism, focus on a separate transmission outside scripture, not depend on words or letters, a school based solely on the teaching of Bodhidharma, which points directly at the person s mind, enabling one to see his own nature and become a budhha ( Bielefeldt 2002: 5). The teaching of Zen was divided into two distinct monastic schools: The Northern school (Shen hsiu) and the Southern school (Hui neng). This paper will show that the difference between the teaching of Gradual and Sudden have affected the way people traditionally perceive enlightenment through the Northern school and Southern school of teaching and Shen hui criticism of the Northern school practice.
