Scenario Between Arnold, Bertram, Charlie, And Patice
Scenario Explained
The scenario between Arnold, Bertram, Charlie and Doris is a classic issue of offer and acceptance.
These are two elements of a valid contract. The scenario also raises its potential of being an invitation
to treat as this is a stark contrast to that of an offer. That is, we must consider whether the notice
placed on the car constitutes a valid offer or if it was a mere invitation to treat. If this notice does
amount to a valid offer where Arnold outlines the terms and conditions (the price at which he was
willing to sell and his telephone number) by which he is willing to be legally bound we must look at
the possible issues that may arise and what possible steps Arnold can take to deal with his situation.
Arnold appears to be the principal party who makes definite terms pertaining to the sale of his car,
from this we can conclude that the notice placed on his cars does in fact demonstrate a clear intent to
be legally bound. This is a unilateral offer where Arnold outlined the terms and condition to which he
is willing to be legally bound, he is inviting the public to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One may however argue the case that Felicity was not an agent for Arnold citing the case Powell V
Lee (1908), where Mr. Powell applied for a job, one of the school managers acting without authority
told Mr. Powell he had been accepted. The managers decided to hire someone else. The court held that
there was no contract and there had been no authorized communication between the managers and Mr.
Powell. Also Charlie complied with Arnold s notice for sale, by visiting Arnold s house and leaving
his acceptance he used a method that was quicker and more efficient that the one that was stipulated

Analysis Of Mice In Wonderland
Throughout this exercise, I will review Malice in Wonderland: Dreams of the Orient and the
Destruction of the Palace of the Emperor of China written by Erik Ringmar (2011). This historical
analysis is particularly interesting to me as it portrays different western accounts of the
Yuanmingyuan, which was once a powerful historical symbol of the superiority of the Chinese
Empire; to its wilful destruction to demonstrate French and British supremacy. The destruction of
Yuanmingyuan is outraging me as their conducts show more about barbarian behaviours than civilised
values that such developed countries proclaimed. Moreover, the text in its simplicity of writing style
made an impression of amazement on me through the expression of wonder, but also, it was a very
smooth reading due to the coherent and organised manner in which the author expressed himself.
Malice in Wonderland aims at explaining the military and political relationship leading to the
destruction of the Yuanmingyuan perceived in the cultural and societal values enshrined in the
aesthetic narrators accounts of the palace from the middle ages to the mid eighteenth century.
Throughout, this historical analysis, Ringmar uses the language of wonder to characterise such
accounts and its evolution over time. Moreover, he distinguishes two different postures that emanates
from the power relation from the wonderer to the wonder. On the one hand, there is an inquiring
attitude which reflects an active desire to

Comparison Of The BeatlesThe Beatles And The Rolling Stones
The Beatles and the Rolling Stones first number one hit songs in the United States, I Want To Hold
Your Hand and (I Can t Get No) Satisfaction were major players in the British Invasion, a musical
revolution which saw a massive spike in the popularity of British artists and culture in America. Both
songs hold some similarities, most notably in the composition of the instruments, along with some
conventions seen in the genre. Yet, strong differences can be found in the vocals, lyrics and general
tone of the songs, showing the separation between two rising subcultures in England. Although very
similar in composition, the two bands display the growing rift between the mods and the rockers those
who preferred the clean cut look and music inspired by the blues, and those who preferred the
rebellious nature of a harder rock and roll.
Both songs display a very similar make up as far as the band and instruments of choice. The core
consists of two guitars, one for lead, and the other for helping maintain rhythm, a bass guitar and
drums along with vocals. The difference here is seen in the instruments used to follow the beat. The
Beatles utilized hand clapping in the background, standing out distinctly from the drums during a
verse, and dissipating as the chorus starts. A good example of this can be heard at 0:07, running until
0:21 as the chorus leads in. The Rolling Stones takes a different approach, using a tambourine and
keeping it on a consistent beat throughout the entire

The Tropical Rainforest Biome In Tropical Rainforests
The tropical rainforest biome is an ecosystem covering around 6% of the Earth s surface and being a
home to over 50% of the plant and animal species. These environments are hot and humid all year
round, with the average amount of rainfall being 250cm per year. The temperatures in a rain forest
minimum tends to be around 20OC with the temperature not rising above 34OC regularly. Tropical
rainforests are found spanning from both sides of the equator between the tropic of Cancer and the
tropic of Capricorn meaning rainforests are in Central and South America, Southeast Asia, Africa and
Australia.
Deforestation has been a major concern in tropical rainforests, this is an act of destructing a forest for
multiple reasons including wood supply, agriculture purposes or the extraction of minerals and energy.
Forest loss till date is 18.03 million acres per year and it has been estimated that within 100 years all
rainforests will be destroyed.
Palm oil is a vegetable oil high in saturated fats extracted from the palm fruit, the palm tree is a native
plant to West Africa then was imported into South East Asia in the mid 19th century. It is one of the
most popular edible oils and is being used in approximately 50% of products currently in the
supermarkets of Australia including cosmetics, toiletries and food. Malaysia and Indonesia grows
around 87% of palm oil while Australia imports about 130,000 tonnes of palm oil every year. Due to

How Did The Levels And Spheres Of Standard Oil Change Society
With reference to the levels and spheres of corporate power discussed in [chapter 3], how did the
power of Standard Oil change society? Was this power exercised in keeping with the social contract of
Rockefeller s era?
With reference to the levels and spheres of corporate power discussed in the chapter, Rockefeller and
the powers of Standard Oil had impacts to the society economically, technologically, politically, and
culturally. When Rockefeller was young, he found an investment that would change him for the rest of
his life. The Cleveland petroleum refinery in which he invested $4,000 in 1863, was still in its
beginning stages. However, Rockefeller was devoted to the oil business, soon becoming one the most
successful men in history. Economic power is the ability of the corporation to influence events,
activities, and people by the virtue of control over resources, particularly property. The power of
Standard Oil changed society by leading the economy to economic growth. The Standard Oil business
had built facilities and employed workers. In turn, this had also increased the economy to a fuel
related industry. As Rockefeller had expanded the business of his company, Standard Oil also
improved and perfected their oil refined technology. In terms of a deeper level of the power, the
Standard Oil business sparked the development in other industries, such as the automobile industry.
The textbook states, However, just as electric lightbulbs were replacing oil lamps, the

Web Design Memo
The purpose of this memo is to communicate my efforts and process associated with writing the final
assignment.
Motivation Behind Topic
When considering mechanisms and processes to write a proposal about, the one idea that came to my
mind was ENGL 313, Rhetorical Website Design. As a former student in that course, who was
uninformed the class involved coding, I wanted to make the subject easier for future students. I chose
to stick with the topic for the technical description because I genuinely think the small
recommendations I offered will help students tremendously. I wanted to make the experience better so
participants can be enthusiastic about web design. I wrote with my perspective in mind, reflecting how
I would have benefited from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That being said, I took on all the challenging aspects of this course. The most difficult part of writing
the technical description was using appropriate language to speak towards my educated audience. For
example, choosing whether or not to write a definition, or writing an extension of a technical
definition. I also wanted to convey to the audience I was also well educated in the material I was
discussing. I had to find a balance in the language I spoke, which proved to be difficult.
Another struggle was writing learning objectives. I had to research various sources about the reason
for them, how to write them effectively, and the levels of thinking that can addressed. I had to shift my
mindset from a student to a teacher. I thought, what are top three outcomes I want my students to
achieve by the end of the week.
Successes
While writing learning objectives was a difficult task, I also found enjoyment out of the process. I
delighted in writing realistic expectations that students could visualize for the week. The section I am
most proud of is Step 6: Constructing Unit Plan. In this area, all of the steps came to life and put into
practice. I reviewed the current class schedule and made adjustments based on what I observed. I
evaluated previous class schedules and took elements that provided the clearest communication. I
compiled those features and constructed the unit

The Field Communication ( Nfc ) Standards
INTRODUCTION Near Field Communication (NFC) standards were first developed by the NFC
forum, which was founded by a consortium of Nokia, Sony and Philips in the year 2004. It is a
wireless communication standard that uses magnetic induction to fill the physical space between
devices in close proximity to one another in order to exchange data, usually in the 13.56 MHz band.
Since it is closely spaced (less than 10 cm), it is more secure than other wireless tools like Wi Fi and
Bluetooth. There are two types of NFC devices: Active devices have their own power source can read
information from an NFC tag and respond to other devices, and passive NFC devices, which lack the
power source and can only send data. Since the data being exchanged is often sensitive credit card
numbers and medical data, for example NFC encrypts the data and sends it over a unique, secure
channel. (Chris, 2014). Furthermore, NFC enabled device can operate in three different modes. They
are reader/writer mode, peer to peer mode, and card emulation mode.
In Reader/Writer mode the NFC device is capable of reading NFC enabled tag types, such as a tag
embedded in an NFC smart poster.
In Peer to Peer mode, two NFC devices can exchange data. For example, you can share Bluetooth or
Wi Fi link set up parameters or you can exchange data such as virtual business cards or digital photos.
In Card Emulation mode, the NFC device appears to an external reader much the same as a traditional
contactless

Why DonT We Complain By William F Buckley Analysis
The Answer to William F. Buckley s Why Don t We Complain? William F. Buckley created an essay
in 1961 capturing the reluctance of todays society to complain about the things that things that are
irksome. He divulges his opinion on why Americans are so unwilling to share their opinion on matters
that are concerning to them irrespective of how trivial they may seem, or how enlarged the situation
may be. Buckley describes several accounts in his essay from the temperature on a train not being the
ideal setting, the strains of having to deal with a blurry picture at the movies, and the failures of a
waitress to respond to his needs of more milk with his breakfast. He also speaks about having to take
an airline attendances word as only script while he waits for the removal of his tray from his lap
before continuing his writing, and awaiting a tool at a ski counter to sort out his own adjustments as he
watches the worker sit and smoke. Buckley summarizes his experiences to share his opinion on why
people, including himself, choose to shy away from the confrontation that is typically brought on by a
simple complaint. But what are the true reasons for one s inability to complain in even the simplest of
situations? William F. Buckley argues the answer to his own titled question within his essay being
that; one: most people are far too reluctant to create negative attention to themselves; two: people
always expect that someone else will speak up; and three: even if one has voiced their concern for a
resolve more often than not the resolve is ignored or does not fall in line with the normal flow of
things. The first experience Buckley shares with his readers is his commute on an overly crowded
train where the temperature was exceedingly hot for the bulk of passengers. He witnessed his own
transformation by losing his overcoat, then his jacket, and later his tie only to notice that the car was
flecked with the white shirts of the passengers (7). He recounts his thoughts as to why he or anyone
else didn t just let the conductor know their discomfort and attributed this discomfort to a rational
explanation of an overstocked furnace, valve turned too high, or a maladjusted thermostat (29). All of
these reasons

The Importance Of Pay For Performance Program Essay
Introduction The report investigates the significance of pay for performance program. A review of
existing literature on the subject matter will be done in view of providing an explanation on the
subject. The focus will be on theoretical frameworks that explore the issue of labor force performance
in relation to pay and incentives. The hypothesis guiding this investigation is that 1) better pay
improves performance, 2) better pay reduces the rate of turnover, 3) that a good incentive and reward
system improves worker s motivation and loyalty to the company , and 4) pay could take any form or
be substituted for leisure, less work hours or rewards. The findings will be used to analyze various
companies in Singapore, while at the same time showcasing the value of the concepts discussed and
possible problems that could arise. The final section will conclude with recommendations to improve
labor supply through good pay. Section AA1. Fair Work Commission Background The Fair Work
Commission (FWC), formerly known as Fair Work Australia, was established as an outcome of the
Fair Work Act of 2009 in the same year (FWC 2016). The FWC was formed as a tribunal and assumed
the responsibilities of other similar organizations, namely the Australian Industrial Relations
Commission and the Australian Industrial Registry both of which were constituted in early twentieth
century, as well as the Australian Fair Pay Commission which was established in 2005 (FWC 2016).

Comparing Ulysses by Lord Tennyson and My Last Duchess by...
Comparing Ulysses by Lord Tennyson and My Last Duchess by Robert
Browning.
Ulysses was written by Lord Tennyson and is a poem about a mythical
Greek character and is a dramatic monologue. Another poem that is a dramatic monologue is My Last
Duchess , by Robert Browning. Both poems are similar, for example they are both structured similarly,
and are both different, one difference being their subject. In this essay
I will compare the two poems, focusing on form, and how language helps to build up subject matter.
Ulysses is a Greek mythical character, and was famous for being a pirate, ransacking villages and
being a warrior. In Greek literature,
Ulysses just seemed to disappear after he got home, and Tennyson decided to ... Show more content

These adjectives create an understanding of what life is like for Ulysses, and this is then contrasted
with words of his past such as roaming ,
ringing and windy . These words create a contrast between the activeness of the past, and the stillness
of the present. This helps the reader imagine what life was like for the character when he was young.
The words associated with the past are positive, whereas the words associated with the present are
negative, helping the reader to understand how Ulysses feels about the present. Line 2o Gleams that
untravelled world whose margin fades shows how Ulysses believes that he still can go out and do
things, as no matter how much he has done, he cannot have done everything. This line is important, as
Gleams leaves the reader with the impression that it is almost tempting to
Ulysses to go and live like he did in the past.
In My Last Duchess , Browning allows the reader to understand the
Duke through what he is saying and what he is doing. The first two lines introduce us to the main
topic of the Duke s speech which is a painting of his last wife. The lines: That s my last Duchess
painted on the wall, looking as if she were alive hint to us that the duchess is not alive anymore, but
Browning has made us unsure, and therefore invites us to read more into the poem. Browning engages
the reader by inviting them to make their own judgements about the Duke, and hinting on what he is

director. We all surrounded and tried to see him. He seemed incredibly mean, the old director had a
stern look on his face, I felt like he was staring right at me. After what seemed like forever, he finally
said something. He started calling numbers. 12, 47, 34 and 88 he shouted in a deep booming voice. I
knew what this meant, he was calling tag numbers so girls would come up and do the number we
should have learned. It definitely was incredibly hard. I probably didn t have what it takes. The first

Persuasive Essay On Death Penalty
Death Penalty Since the year 1976, around 1,462 people in the United States have been executed by
lethal injection. Practiced in 31 states and abolished in 19 the death penalty has remained a center
stone of debate since its launch in 1976. With so many differing viewpoints, arguments pertaining to
the moral issue, legal considerations and possible alternatives have been left unsettled since. The
ongoing tug of war within these topics slowly tries to chip away at the big question. Should the death
penalty be allowed? Morality and human psychology show up as clear underlining factors when it
comes to crossing the line between life and death. Many believe an eye for an eye form of punishment
is justifiable while others strongly disagree on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In their eyes, the death of murders relieves the burning vengeance and pain victims loved ones go
through. Opponents argue against the thought of revenge and any connection it has towards justice or
fulfilling the grief of death. They argue that vengeance only makes things worse and extends the chain
of violence, claiming it has no place in our justice system. Along with moral issues, social unfairness
such as poverty and race have always been woven into concern among the two sides. One argument
touches on the economic state of the convicted and how it affects his/her chances of being executed.
People of poverty don t have the money to hire a good legal representative leaving them with a weak
defense against their crime. I don t know of any affluent people who have been sentenced to death,
said Walter Berns, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington. People of
poverty who are given a representative by the state find that often that their defendant is ill
experienced and underpaid. Court appointed death penalty lawyers are paid barely enough to cover
costs, are usually inexperienced, and often don t put up much of a fight, said Stephen Bright, director
of the Southern Center for Human Rights in Atlanta. This imbalance in equity on an economic level
also rings true on an ethnic level through racial bias. In 82% of the studies

Why Does Shintoism Need To Compete With Christianity
Shintoism is an ancient religion that predominates modern japan but it has undergone many changes to
compete with many foreign religions such as Christianity. Does Shintoism need to conform to
compete with Christianity better yet does it really need to compete with other religions anyway? The
main sentiment that comes with foreign religions is to explain the creation of the universe usually
depicting a divine being or god while Shintoism mainly tries to empower the mysteries of the universe
rather than to explain them. Shintoism also through the most part lacks a holy book since most of the
practices and ideas where spread through story tellers this causes an issue since foreign countries have
to explain Shintoism on their own which make it look barbaric in comparison. The early history of
Shintoism may shed some light on this argument to understand some of the reason for the Shinto
conformation. At around 300 B.C.E the Japanese people where set up in small clans named Uji and
each clan where unique from each other since they developed independently due to the mountains
such as Fuji (Kasulis, 75). Each Uji believed in a a spirit that protected the clan known as a Ujigami

The Battle of Antietam Essay
Abstract
The Battle of Antietam took place on 17 September 1862, near Sharpsburg, Maryland. The battle was
fought between General Lee s Army of Northern Virginia and General McClellan s Army of the
Potomac. Although the battle lasted only 12 hours, it was a significant point of the American Civil
War, as well as the deadliest day in history. Tactically the battle was considered a draw, but the North
claimed strategic victory and President Lincoln published the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing
hundreds of thousands of slaves.

How Is Miss Ruddock s Terrible Loneliness Conveyed In Alan Bennett s
A Lady Of Letters?
Miss Irene Ruddock is an ordinary middle aged woman who lives on her own. She was close to her
mother who had recently passed away. Miss
Ruddock has no real friends and finds it difficult to fill her time so she is often sitting in her chair,
looking out of her window and noting what is going on in other people s lives. She has no social life
and she only leaves the house when she has to.
Alan Bennett shows Miss Ruddock s loneliness through her obsession of writing letters. She uses

This is a computer generated letter sent to all customers after a certain amount of time, and Miss
Ruddock replies to by saying she thought it very considerate of them for drawing this to my attention
and in the event of me noticing any deterioration I would...get in touch with them . This is another
example of loneliness as it shows her desperation to communicate with the outside world and will use
any excuses to do so.
Miss Ruddock is lonely because she leads a very lacklustre life. Other than writing inappropriate
letters to anyone she see s fit, she spends a lot of her time sitting in her chair by the window, often
looking over the actions of her neighbour s and casting judgement over their lifestyles. An example of
this is when she says Well, you ve got a car, you ve got a transistor, it s about time you invested in

Ruddock attended the funeral of somebody who, until their obituary was posted in the local

Reflection On The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum
I have attended the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of Arts for my cultural event essay, on
Wednesday November 18, 2015. Attending this museum is considered a cultural event since it
provides you with the opportunity to learn about the different styles of artworks of different time
periods. This museum contained many works that are influenced by classicism which is a style of
historical tradition or aesthetic attitudes based on the art of Greece and Rome ( Classicism and
Neoclassicism ). One particular piece of art that drew upon my attention was the leaded glass window
of the Aurora, the Roman goddess of dawn created by Louis Comfort Tiffany, an American artist and
designer of the 19th century ( The Charles Hosmer ). The window was created based upon the original
painting of the Aurora by Will H. Low, a muralist designer for Tiffany ( Biography ). The Aurora is
influenced by the roots of western civilization by visual characteristics such as her contrapposto
stance. I believe that this art is trying to communicate how Aurora is preparing to renew herself in the
water to carry out her duties as a goddess. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tiffany used a technique known as plating, which is placing pieces of glass on top of one another to

to appear through thus allowing the concept of early morning to be displayed in the artwork. Roman
mythology also states that her energy represents new hope and renewal that each day brings (Dawn

different solutions used in this chemical weathering lab would weather at different rates. First, in cup
one, it was hypothesized that the 50% vinegar solution will have the greatest amount of chemical
weathering on the limestone, because the 50% vinegar solution is the strongest and most like actual
acid rains. Next, in cup two, it was hypothesized that the 10% vinegar solution will have less chemical
weathering effects than cup one, because the 10% vinegar solution has less chemical weathering
strength compared to the 50% solution. Additionally, in cup three, it was hypothesized that the soda
water solution will have less chemical weathering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is seen all around us from headstones, to national parks, to the Statue of Liberty. First, chemical
weathering is one of the main reasons cemeteries commonly use a quartz or granite headstone instead
of limestone for today s memorial markers. The older limestone based markers have shown they
deteriorate over time from environmental factors, such as chemical weathering, and become difficult
or even impossible to read (Best Materials for Gravestones). This is also true of many older
monuments. Next, chemical weathering can be seen in national parks. In Carlsbad, New Mexico, the
Carlsbad Caverns were created due to chemical weathering. They were formed by sulfuric acid that
dissolved limestone (National Geographic, 2011). Finally, chemical weathering is also prevalent on
the Statue of Liberty. The weathering of the copper of the statue has caused oxidation resulting in a
thin layer of patina on Lady Liberty (Why is the Statue of Libery Green?). Weathering is a natural
process and some sources of chemical weathering are natural; however some causes of chemical
weathering are from human activities. Chemical compounds released into the air contribute to
chemical weathering. These compounds can come from the emissions from factories, power plants,
and automobiles. Chemical weathering speeds up the weathering process and is changing the Earth s

Similarities Between North Korea And United States
The political ties between North Korea,South Korea, and the United States are tricky and
unreliable. However there are many important differences and similarities between the three countries.
Government differences are one of the key points in North korea, South Korea, and the U.S..The
North Korean government is categorized as a communist ideology as said by Benjamin Elisha, and is
run by Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un. South Korea however ¨divides into three branches: executive,
judicial, and legislative. . . The president heads the executive branch¨ as stated in New World

judicial¨ as said by the US house representatives.Like South Korea the U.S s executive branch is

Maximus A Hero
Heroes normally display feats of strength or knowledge exceeding that of normal men. In Ancient
Greek and Roman texts, heroes were inspired by the legends of Hercules, Jason and Perseus who were
all normal men, seen to have super human strength, knowledge, or strategy. Heroes do not all have
godlike strength, many of them were war generals or emperors who faced danger but fought through
adversity with triumphs of courage or bravery or even martyrdom. There are heroes who develop
certain characteristics that are not normally qualities a hero embodies. Throughout the story, Maximus
endures many tribulations that make Maximus evolve as a hero and embody attributes a hero normally
does not have. Maximus embodies various qualities of both a hero ... Show more content on

Maximus and the gladiators fight valiantly and are saved by Maximus superior battle tactics. Maximus
is able to lead a group of men who have no military experience, to survive a gladiatorial game meant
to see them all die. After the victory in the arena, Commodus steps into the Colosseum to congratulate
the crowd favorite the Spaniard. He commands Maximus to show his face, and after Maximus does he
expresses his desire for revenge, ...father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife, and I will
have my vengeance in this life or the next (Gladiator, 99 min.). Maximus finally is able to confront the
man who gave the orders to kill his family. Maximus only true motivation for living is to avenge the
death of his family. Commodus is made out to look like a fool because he still does not have the
support of Rome s citizens or its military. Maximus won the crowd over with his superior tactics and
fighting, highlighting Proximo s comments ...win the crowd, and you ll win your freedom (Gladiator,

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Social Behavior
There are 3 basic research methods that social psychologists use to describe behaviors. Each of these
have both strengths and weaknesses. The observational method is done by observing and collecting
data which is then used to describe the behavior. The researcher observes the events in a natural
setting so none of the variables are manipulated. There must be interjudge reliability, meaning that
when different researchers administer the same test to the same subject they each must obtain the same
measurement. The advantages in this method is that it is the simplest method, it has greater accuracy,
and it is useful for setting up hypothesis. The weaknesses are that this method is hard to observe
because of privacy and secrecy. It is great for explanation but not as good for prediction and
description. The observer might also be biased being that he has his own opinion on what is right and
wrong. The correlation method focuses on prediction. It is a statistical measure of two or more
variables and the relation between them are assessed. The Correlation coefficient assesses how well
you can predict one variable from another. A positive correlation is when the value of one variable
increases it is associated with the increase of the other variable. For example height and weight, the
more one grows the more he will weigh. A negative correlation is when the value of one variable
increases it is associated with the decrease of the other variable. An example is that the

The World s Largest Gas Company For Gas
For over 40 years, Europe has been relying on Russia for the importation of energy, such as oil.5 One
of Russia s major gas company, Gazprom, is one of the world s largest gas distributing companies,
causing many countries to become dependent on the Russian company for gas. In 2015 alone,
Gazprom exported around 158 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe, and of those European countries
to have received gas, Germany was the highest, with an import of 45.31 billion cubic meters of
Gazprom gas. Countries in the Baltic region and countries in south eastern Europe are usually very
dependent on Russian gas. The European Union is Russia s most involved trading partner, especially
when it comes in terms of oil. About 41% of Russia s exports are sent to EU countries.7 According to
Gazprom s statistics, Western European countries make up 82% of Gazprom s exports, and Central
European countries make up 18% of their exports.3 These numbers are significant because it displays
Europe s major dependence on Russian oil, which is a major problem, because of Russia s ability to
deprive Europe of energy at any given time, as shown from 2006 to 2009, when Russia cut off
Ukraine s gas line due to disputes regarding gas prices.23 If Russia decides to shut off gas to a region,
it can lead to people being without ways to heat their homes or cook their food, leaving a big liability
on the people. Europe s vulnerability to these gas shortages gives Russian leverage over many EU
countries who heavily

Anger In The Manciple s Tale By Geoffrey Chaucer
History has a way of repeating itself. Mistakes made by earlier civilizations are re made in modern
day. It is true that people learn from their mistakes, but it is what they are ignorant of that gets
repeated. If people knew something was morally wrong, they would avoid doing it. If they were raised
to believe it was right, they would still do it, thinking they are doing right. Not only bad things have a
reincarnation in the future, but good things as well. Even a manner of which a society of the past acts
can be mirrored in the modern world. Authors have studied these occurrences and applied them in
their works. One such author is Geoffrey Chaucer who, in his work, The Canterbury Tales, has
provided tales such as The Parson s Tale , The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first of the two characters in the tale is Constance, the religious one. It is said that she is the mirror
of all courtesy,/Her heart a chamber of true holiness,/ Her hand a ministration of largess (Chaucer, The
Man of Law s Tale , line 166 168). She is the model of a virtuous being. She has absolute trust in God,
and she teaches other to do the same. She practices being loyal to the law as well as her faith. She is
exemplified as a materially poor person but spiritually rich. She can resist temptation because she
looks forward to a better life in Heaven. Through hard times and good times, she remains always
faithful to God, and God always protects her. She can most accurately be related to a modern day
monk. They have no money, for they have taken a vow of poverty, but they remain spiritually rich.
Being spiritually rich means they leave behind family, possessions, and worldly position, and even the
outer marks of personal identity, symbolized by hair, beard, and wardrobe (Bhikkhu Bodhi). They
trust in God, and are strong followers of their faith, like Constance. Since The monastic lifestyle
places the monk in dependence on the generosity and kindness of others , when there is no one around
to provide the monk with generosity, their only option is to trust in God. They still follow the official

What Are The Influence Of The Roman Bath And The Roman Baths
Both the Roman Baths and the British Museum exemplified the dominating influence of the Roman
and Greek empires in Britain s early history. However, even though both possess features of the
Roman era, only the British Museum had Grecian elements in its galleries as well. The presence of
both institutions highlight the imperial nature Britain adapted in arts, architecture, and foreign affairs
due to the exposure to these two cultures. The Roman Baths was a public bath house where people
went for bathing and socializing. It s well engineered system and beautiful structure made out to be a
wonderful place for people to meet on a day to day business to catch up with current events and
matters of the like. Unlike the Roman Baths, the British Museum is not a social hangout, but a public
space where everyone can learn something from almost every continent through their treasures. There
are sculptures, dishes, clocks, and many other exquisite pieces exhibited in the museum to represent
the various cultures they come from. It s evident from various historical British locations that both the
Romans and Greeks had a strong presence in Britain s early history. Around 70 AD, the Roman Baths
were constructed by the Romans when they believed that the spring water was a gift from the Gods (
Roman Baths ). At this point in history, the Romans had already invaded Britain several years
beforehand. Them building holy structures on British land is one of many occasions where they
showcased a mentality that whatever they touched was theirs. An attitude that Britain would later
adopt during the Age of Exploration. Similarly, the Parthenon statues in the British Museum
commonly depicted images of power, strength, and beauty. The statues not only symbolized power by
placing warriors on horses, but also by defining the muscles and bone structures of the subjects. It
seemed as if there were two modes for the statues: Herculean stances or sensual poses that provoked
godly features. Such idealistic images have had lasting impacts on art and architecture around the
globe. Examples of British images that represent the same ideals/have traces of Roman/Grecian
architecture include various amphitheaters around the nation, Bignor Roman

The Evolution Of Presidential Campaigns

Presidential Politics

The Evolution of Presidential Campaigns and Government Media Relations
The media has always played an important role in the President s relationship with the public, but just
what kind of affect does it really have on the executive office? The first televised presidential debate
in 1960 between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon marked the beginning of a new era the inaugural
shift of the media s role in politics. Since that time, the media has continued to transform the way the
president is perceived by the public through print, broadcast, and more recently, social media. All of
said outlets have played vital roles in not only a president s campaign, but also in their presidency and
likability throughout their time in office. While the White House is still the source of most presidential
news, the media are the shapers of the story and can frame it pretty much any way they want. There
used to be limits on certain issues or realms of the presidency that were to remain untouched,
however, first amendment freedoms take precedence over almost any restriction the government could
try to place on the media. The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship between the media
and the president throughout recent years, looking briefly into the past to establish the scale of the
dramatic change, and to study their reciprocal connection of how each utilizes the other.

card line in America, and is responsible for consumer banking, while JP Morgan is well known
internationally, and responsible for investment banking. Although JPMC is one of the world s biggest
banks, senior management at JPMC has continuously referred to the company as a technology
company. Technology plays an astronomically more important role in banking because of convenience
and security. JPMC currently has over 40,000 technologists, of which over 18,000 are software
developers (Crowe). In comparison, Google, arguably the most renowned tech company in the world,
has around 60,000 employees. With such an enormous staff of technologists and coders, JPMC, like
any big tech corporation, must be concerned with employee production efficiency. Over my past

Cracking Our Dna Barcode Analysis

significant DNA fingerprinting is today. She initiates a candid example of how New York City s World

It was the staple for the ever increasing need for DNA fingerprinting.
In current events, DNA fingerprinting is a vital instrument soldiers who are unidentifiable after war.

and establishes innocence. Before the evolution of DNA fingerprinting, persecuting attorney and our

the eyewitnesses who were likely to recant on their statements, tampered evidence, and bias jurors.
Presently, DNA fingerprinting have aided in exonerating hundreds of cases including Ray Krone, also

Fruit Fly Experiment Essay
The experiment was performed on February 2nd 2016 at the University of Calgary in a Biological
Science laboratory. The experimental procedure was done in a group of four students.
To investigate optimal foraging behaviour, two treatments were carried out on a sample of Drosophilia
melanogaster (fruit flies), who were previously starved for 24 hours. In treatment 1, 5 mL of 400 mM
sucrose solution (SS) was dyed with 4 droplets of red food colouring. 5 mL of 40 mM SS was dyed
with 3 droplets of blue food coloring. Using a Pasteur pipette, 16 drops were placed, four by four, on a
Petri dish, alternating the red 400 nM and blue 40 mM solutions. The drops were spaced 5 mm apart
so the flies could move around them. Approximately 10 15 flies were added from a vial, into the Petri
dish. The number of live flies were counted, and left for one hour to forage. After one hour, the dish
was placed in a freezer for 10 minutes to kill the flies. The flies were examined under a microscope to
determine abdominal colour (red, blue, purple, or colourless). Treatment 2 followed the same
procedure. However, 5 mL of 400 mM SS was dyed with 3 droplets of blue food colouring, and 5 mL
of 40 mM SS was dyed with 5 droplets of red food colouring. The two treatments controlled for fly
colour preference. A Chi squared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Krook is an illiterate man who owns a store in which he accumulates things. He lives in a world
saturated with archaic objects, as well as the court is saturated with piled up cases and archaic

justice system if its institutions continue in a state of paralysis. Krook s decay and contamination is
also protrayed through his house s description; once again, the places assume the characteristics of the
people who inhabit them. Once in Krook s house, before encountering his remains, Mr. Gubby and
Tony Jobling come across a thick, yellow liquor [...] which is offensive to the touch and sight and
more offensive to the smell. A stagnant, sickening oil with some natural repulsion in it that makes

But if we considered it as a metaphor, we may agree that Krook s body imploded as a result of its

They don t have ownership or legal rights. Their interests are categorized in four different areas which
are career stability, student/school welfare, freedom of choice and the overall quality of education. If
Temple invest on developing a stadium and if it doesn t go well then it might affect on employees
career stability as they may redistribute employees to other departments. It could affect overall quality
of education/academics to Athletics. Also if the stadium moves in the campus, obviously there would
be a change in the culture hence it will affect student welfare. Through survey result, we found that
66% people are against the building of a new stadium. So, if I think about the freedom of choice, it
looks like most of the employees don t think it would be a good idea to build a new stadium because it
only going to waste money. Temple could provide money to develop community and invest on their
education system. There are two stakeholders who have strong relationships with each other. I think
that the board of trustees and the football program should work together as the project operation
would depend on their decision. TU doesn t have Legal responsibilities or Philanthropic obligation
towards their employees. However, they have Economic responsibilities. They need to think about the
infrastructure and the cost to develop the stadium. It could affect negatively on

Martha Graham Influence On Dance
Martha Graham (May 11, 1894 April 1, 1991) was an American modern dancer and choreographer
who has had a huge influence on dance and the influence has been compared to Picasso s on art. She is
also recognized as one of the greatest artists of the 20th century and has inspired many generations of
famous choreographers and dancers including Merce Cunningham, Paul Taylor, and Twyla Tharp,
In the mid 1910s, she began her studies at the Denishawn School of Dancing and Related Arts, and
she continued dancing there until 1923. Afterwards, in 1926, her own dance centre was established

concept that a person will consider the overall situation and make great decisions and actions.
Secondly, honor is a moral concept which is respected. Third, love is an emotion that people will fall

heroism in my essay. Here are three main ideas to introduce my statements. First of all, Roger Ebert

good above that love. The author said Rick s action was higher above that love. In some ways, it was
heroism. Rick loves Ilsa, he could do anything only for Ilsa. But he considered Ilsa s situation, he
couldn t do selfish behavior. In other words, Rick could refuse to give Laszlo and Ilsa transit and keep
Ilsa company with him. On the contrary, Rick gave them transit to America for free and let his love
leave with another man who fighted with their enemies. Ilsa said in the movie, I can t fight it anymore.
I ran away from you once. I can t do it again. I don t know what s right any longer. You ll have to think
for both of us, for all of us. Ilsa didn t know what is the right choice between justice and love.
Actually, Ilsa also liked Rick. Rick and Ilsa had old unforgettable thing that Ilsa ran away from Rick to
return her husband. Although Rick were angry when he remembered some scenes with Ilsa, he still
helped Ilsa and made right for her. In a sense, Rick was like a hero who were generous. Next, Richard
Corliss says, The galaxy of supporting characters in Casablanca constitute a dazzling, baroque hall of
mirrors that reflect facets and distoetions of the leading characters lives and life styles...One of these

Water Pollution Is the Contamination of Water Bodies
Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies (e.g. lakes, rivers, oceans and groundwater).
Water pollution affects plants and organisms living in these bodies of water; and, in almost all cases
the effect is damaging not only to individual species and populations, but also to the natural biological
communities.
Water pollution occurs when pollutants are discharged directly or indirectly into water bodies without
adequate treatment to remove harmful compounds.

However where such water is not channeled and drains directly to ground it is a non point source.

Interactions between groundwater and surface water are complex. Consequently, groundwater
pollution, sometimes referred to as groundwater contamination, is not as easily classified as surface
water pollution.[7] By its very nature, groundwater aquifers are susceptible to contamination from
sources that may not directly affect surface water bodies, and the distinction of point vs. non point
source may be irrelevant. A spill or ongoing releases of chemical or radionuclide contaminants into
soil (located away from a surface water body) may not create point source or non point source
pollution, but can contaminate the aquifer below, defined as a toxin plume. The movement of the
plume, a plume front, can be part of a Hydrological transport model or Groundwater model. Analysis
of groundwater contamination may focus on the soil characteristics and site geology, hydrogeology,
hydrology, and the nature of the contaminants.
[edit] Causes of water pollution
The specific contaminants leading to pollution in water include a wide spectrum of chemicals,
pathogens, and physical or sensory changes such as elevated temperature and discoloration. While
many of the chemicals and substances that are regulated may be naturally occurring (calcium, sodium,
iron, manganese,

Luciferianism In Illuminati
To proceed with, Illuminati really has a religion , more known as a conviction framework, called
Luciferianism or Illuminism. Luciferianism roots from the word Lucifer, which is referred to by
numerous as Satan, the dull leader of the underworld. During the time spent completely understanding
the thinking for utilizing such a dim ruler as a name of a religion, one must first comprehend the
history. In the Bible, a story is told about Lucifer, the most elevated of the heavenly attendants; yet, he
was not fulfilled, and needed more. He needed to supplant God and endeavored creating so as to do
this the first resistance to him. God immediately exiled Lucifer from Heaven and sent him, alongside
one thirds of all blessed messengers away to the underworld. Lucifer, once the great blessed
messenger of light got to be Satan, abhorrent holy messenger of dimness (The New Oxford Annotated
Bible, Luke 10:18). This story clarifies how Illuminati needs the same Lucifer did, the most power
conceivable, which gave them the thought to utilize Luciferianism as their convictions name.

or slaves were compensated for their losses. The loss of capital according to the article was not the
only way slavery reduced the value of assets. The labor shortage created by emancipation had the
effect of making a useless resource thereby having another form of capital reduced. The result of all
this was that the post war southern economy was stagnant and fell into a slow and painful growth well

Morality, Moral, And Morality
Introduction As part of leadership, morality has been seen as a fundamental part. Among the
leadership traits, morality is has been defined as a very significant reality in how the leaders would
interact. By extension, various definitions have been brought forward in the attempts to understand
morality. However, moral relativism has been defined as a theoretical approach under which what is
right and what is wrong is effectively studied, (Sergiovanni, 2013). Therefore, it is very difficult to
distinguish ethics from morality. Ethics and morality seem to augment each other in emphasizing the
guiding principles of life. Clearly, morality encompasses almost all aspects of the human life starting
from an individual level and extending to the societal level. In the same light, there is no agreed
definition of leadership. Gini (2011) in the article, Moral Leadership: An Overview, asserts that
leadership entails numerous points of view that seem to all be centered on the fact that a leader will
prioritize efforts so as to realize positive results for others. Thus, leadership is a social process that
involves positive influence between a leader and their followers (Gini, 2011). The fact that leaders
would have to be in touch with their followers; emphasizes should be morality. Moral leadership
entails a leader who is concerned with their principles regarding rightness or wrongness of their
human character (Sergiovanni, 2013). Moral leadership is important since its

My Bubble Research Paper
In the past, I was not the most outgoing of people. I never spoke over others, and I only opened my
mouth when asked. I always let others walk over me because I feared confrontation. I lived within my
own bubble of safety. As long as I stayed within the boundaries of everything and away from
everyone, I convinced myself that this was the most efficient way to live. No problems with anyone
else, and no problems within my life. Although the life I lived was very safe, it was also very
colorless. This mindset of safety clouded over me and influenced almost all of my choices.
I never seemed to muster up the courage to talk to new people and stayed within my circle of friends. I
never branched out, I never tried out for sports, or the school musical or anything new because I
feared the results would not turn out in my favor. Even food wise, I did not try new things. Growing
up in a Filipino household, I was offered a plethora of diverse cultural foods; I however, had a very
strict diet of apple slices and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. This tied to my mindset of staying
within my safety bubble. Trying new things was against my entire being, as if I would malfunction
like a robot without oil. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I came to the grave realization that our cabinets were dry of all things seemingly edible to me. All
foods that existed within my safety universe had unknowingly all slipped away from me at once. My
mother eventually returned home, hours after wallowing in my famine, which only allowed for my
hunger to grow greater than it has ever been. My ravenous self rejoiced when I saw a white takeout
bag in her hands. I pounced over to her, only for myself to discover my only hope for sustenance was,
mozzarella sticks. This began an internal battle within myself on whether I should allow myself to
starve or try something new, which was far beyond any beliefs that existed for

  • 2. Scenario Between Arnold, Bertram, Charlie, And Patice Scenario Explained The scenario between Arnold, Bertram, Charlie and Doris is a classic issue of offer and acceptance. These are two elements of a valid contract. The scenario also raises its potential of being an invitation to treat as this is a stark contrast to that of an offer. That is, we must consider whether the notice placed on the car constitutes a valid offer or if it was a mere invitation to treat. If this notice does amount to a valid offer where Arnold outlines the terms and conditions (the price at which he was willing to sell and his telephone number) by which he is willing to be legally bound we must look at the possible issues that may arise and what possible steps Arnold can take to deal with his situation. Arnold appears to be the principal party who makes definite terms pertaining to the sale of his car, from this we can conclude that the notice placed on his cars does in fact demonstrate a clear intent to be legally bound. This is a unilateral offer where Arnold outlined the terms and condition to which he is willing to be legally bound, he is inviting the public to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also Charlie complied with Arnold s notice for sale, by visiting Arnold s house and leaving his acceptance he used a method that was quicker and more efficient that the one that was stipulated on the windscreen of the ... • 3. Analysis Of Mice In Wonderland Throughout this exercise, I will review Malice in Wonderland: Dreams of the Orient and the Destruction of the Palace of the Emperor of China written by Erik Ringmar (2011). This historical analysis is particularly interesting to me as it portrays different western accounts of the Yuanmingyuan, which was once a powerful historical symbol of the superiority of the Chinese Empire; to its wilful destruction to demonstrate French and British supremacy. The destruction of Yuanmingyuan is outraging me as their conducts show more about barbarian behaviours than civilised values that such developed countries proclaimed. Moreover, the text in its simplicity of writing style made an impression of amazement on me through the expression of wonder, but also, it was a very smooth reading due to the coherent and organised manner in which the author expressed himself. Malice in Wonderland aims at explaining the military and political relationship leading to the destruction of the Yuanmingyuan perceived in the cultural and societal values enshrined in the aesthetic narrators accounts of the palace from the middle ages to the mid eighteenth century. Throughout, this historical analysis, Ringmar uses the language of wonder to characterise such accounts and its evolution over time. Moreover, he distinguishes two different postures that emanates from the power relation from the wonderer to the wonder. On the one hand, there is an inquiring attitude which reflects an active desire to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Comparison Of The BeatlesThe Beatles And The Rolling Stones The Beatles and the Rolling Stones first number one hit songs in the United States, I Want To Hold Your Hand and (I Can t Get No) Satisfaction were major players in the British Invasion, a musical revolution which saw a massive spike in the popularity of British artists and culture in America. Both songs hold some similarities, most notably in the composition of the instruments, along with some conventions seen in the genre. Yet, strong differences can be found in the vocals, lyrics and general tone of the songs, showing the separation between two rising subcultures in England. Although very similar in composition, the two bands display the growing rift between the mods and the rockers those who preferred the clean cut look and music inspired by the blues, and those who preferred the rebellious nature of a harder rock and roll. Both songs display a very similar make up as far as the band and instruments of choice. The core consists of two guitars, one for lead, and the other for helping maintain rhythm, a bass guitar and drums along with vocals. The difference here is seen in the instruments used to follow the beat. The Beatles utilized hand clapping in the background, standing out distinctly from the drums during a verse, and dissipating as the chorus starts. A good example of this can be heard at 0:07, running until 0:21 as the chorus leads in. The Rolling Stones takes a different approach, using a tambourine and keeping it on a consistent beat throughout the entire ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Tropical Rainforest Biome In Tropical Rainforests The tropical rainforest biome is an ecosystem covering around 6% of the Earth s surface and being a home to over 50% of the plant and animal species. These environments are hot and humid all year round, with the average amount of rainfall being 250cm per year. The temperatures in a rain forest minimum tends to be around 20OC with the temperature not rising above 34OC regularly. Tropical rainforests are found spanning from both sides of the equator between the tropic of Cancer and the tropic of Capricorn meaning rainforests are in Central and South America, Southeast Asia, Africa and Australia. Deforestation has been a major concern in tropical rainforests, this is an act of destructing a forest for multiple reasons including wood supply, agriculture purposes or the extraction of minerals and energy. Forest loss till date is 18.03 million acres per year and it has been estimated that within 100 years all rainforests will be destroyed. • 6. How Did The Levels And Spheres Of Standard Oil Change Society With reference to the levels and spheres of corporate power discussed in [chapter 3], how did the power of Standard Oil change society? Was this power exercised in keeping with the social contract of Rockefeller s era? With reference to the levels and spheres of corporate power discussed in the chapter, Rockefeller and the powers of Standard Oil had impacts to the society economically, technologically, politically, and culturally. When Rockefeller was young, he found an investment that would change him for the rest of his life. The Cleveland petroleum refinery in which he invested $4,000 in 1863, was still in its beginning stages. However, Rockefeller was devoted to the oil business, soon becoming one the most successful men in history. Economic power is the ability of the corporation to influence events, activities, and people by the virtue of control over resources, particularly property. The power of Standard Oil changed society by leading the economy to economic growth. The Standard Oil business had built facilities and employed workers. In turn, this had also increased the economy to a fuel related industry. As Rockefeller had expanded the business of his company, Standard Oil also improved and perfected their oil refined technology. In terms of a deeper level of the power, the Standard Oil business sparked the development in other industries, such as the automobile industry. Motivation Behind Topic When considering mechanisms and processes to write a proposal about, the one idea that came to my mind was ENGL 313, Rhetorical Website Design. As a former student in that course, who was uninformed the class involved coding, I wanted to make the subject easier for future students. I chose to stick with the topic for the technical description because I genuinely think the small recommendations I offered will help students tremendously. I wanted to make the experience better so participants can be enthusiastic about web design. I wrote with my perspective in mind, reflecting how I would have benefited from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That being said, I took on all the challenging aspects of this course. The most difficult part of writing the technical description was using appropriate language to speak towards my educated audience. For example, choosing whether or not to write a definition, or writing an extension of a technical definition. I also wanted to convey to the audience I was also well educated in the material I was discussing. I had to find a balance in the language I spoke, which proved to be difficult. Another struggle was writing learning objectives. I had to research various sources about the reason for them, how to write them effectively, and the levels of thinking that can addressed. I had to shift my mindset from a student to a teacher. I thought, what are top three outcomes I want my students to achieve by the end of the week. Successes While writing learning objectives was a difficult task, I also found enjoyment out of the process. I delighted in writing realistic expectations that students could visualize for the week. The section I am most proud of is Step 6: Constructing Unit Plan. In this area, all of the steps came to life and put into practice. I reviewed the current class schedule and made adjustments based on what I observed. I evaluated previous class schedules and took elements that provided the clearest communication. I compiled those features and constructed the unit ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Field Communication ( Nfc ) Standards INTRODUCTION Near Field Communication (NFC) standards were first developed by the NFC forum, which was founded by a consortium of Nokia, Sony and Philips in the year 2004. It is a wireless communication standard that uses magnetic induction to fill the physical space between devices in close proximity to one another in order to exchange data, usually in the 13.56 MHz band. Since it is closely spaced (less than 10 cm), it is more secure than other wireless tools like Wi Fi and Bluetooth. There are two types of NFC devices: Active devices have their own power source can read information from an NFC tag and respond to other devices, and passive NFC devices, which lack the power source and can only send data. Since the data being exchanged is often sensitive credit card numbers and medical data, for example NFC encrypts the data and sends it over a unique, secure channel. (Chris, 2014). Furthermore, NFC enabled device can operate in three different modes. They are reader/writer mode, peer to peer mode, and card emulation mode. In Reader/Writer mode the NFC device is capable of reading NFC enabled tag types, such as a tag embedded in an NFC smart poster. In Peer to Peer mode, two NFC devices can exchange data. For example, you can share Bluetooth or Wi Fi link set up parameters or you can exchange data such as virtual business cards or digital photos. In Card Emulation mode, the NFC device appears to an external reader much the same as a traditional contactless ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Why DonT We Complain By William F Buckley Analysis The Answer to William F. Buckley s Why Don t We Complain? William F. Buckley created an essay in 1961 capturing the reluctance of todays society to complain about the things that things that are irksome. He divulges his opinion on why Americans are so unwilling to share their opinion on matters that are concerning to them irrespective of how trivial they may seem, or how enlarged the situation may be. Buckley describes several accounts in his essay from the temperature on a train not being the ideal setting, the strains of having to deal with a blurry picture at the movies, and the failures of a waitress to respond to his needs of more milk with his breakfast. He also speaks about having to take an airline attendances word as only script while he waits for the removal of his tray from his lap before continuing his writing, and awaiting a tool at a ski counter to sort out his own adjustments as he watches the worker sit and smoke. Buckley summarizes his experiences to share his opinion on why people, including himself, choose to shy away from the confrontation that is typically brought on by a simple complaint. But what are the true reasons for one s inability to complain in even the simplest of situations? William F. Buckley argues the answer to his own titled question within his essay being that; one: most people are far too reluctant to create negative attention to themselves; two: people always expect that someone else will speak up; and three: even if one has voiced their concern for a resolve more often than not the resolve is ignored or does not fall in line with the normal flow of things. The first experience Buckley shares with his readers is his commute on an overly crowded train where the temperature was exceedingly hot for the bulk of passengers. He witnessed his own transformation by losing his overcoat, then his jacket, and later his tie only to notice that the car was flecked with the white shirts of the passengers (7). He recounts his thoughts as to why he or anyone else didn t just let the conductor know their discomfort and attributed this discomfort to a rational explanation of an overstocked furnace, valve turned too high, or a maladjusted thermostat (29). All of these reasons ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A review of existing literature on the subject matter will be done in view of providing an explanation on the subject. The focus will be on theoretical frameworks that explore the issue of labor force performance in relation to pay and incentives. The hypothesis guiding this investigation is that 1) better pay improves performance, 2) better pay reduces the rate of turnover, 3) that a good incentive and reward system improves worker s motivation and loyalty to the company , and 4) pay could take any form or be substituted for leisure, less work hours or rewards. The findings will be used to analyze various companies in Singapore, while at the same time showcasing the value of the concepts discussed and possible problems that could arise. The final section will conclude with recommendations to improve labor supply through good pay. Section AA1. • 11. Comparing Ulysses by Lord Tennyson and My Last Duchess by... Comparing Ulysses by Lord Tennyson and My Last Duchess by Robert Browning. Ulysses was written by Lord Tennyson and is a poem about a mythical Greek character and is a dramatic monologue. Another poem that is a dramatic monologue is My Last Duchess , by Robert Browning. Both poems are similar, for example they are both structured similarly, and are both different, one difference being their subject. In this essay I will compare the two poems, focusing on form, and how language helps to build up subject matter. Ulysses is a Greek mythical character, and was famous for being a pirate, ransacking villages and being a warrior. In Greek literature, Ulysses just seemed to disappear after he got home, and Tennyson decided to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These adjectives create an understanding of what life is like for Ulysses, and this is then contrasted with words of his past such as roaming , ringing and windy . These words create a contrast between the activeness of the past, and the stillness of the present. This helps the reader imagine what life was like for the character when he was young. The words associated with the past are positive, whereas the words associated with the present are negative, helping the reader to understand how Ulysses feels about the present. Line 2o Gleams that untravelled world whose margin fades shows how Ulysses believes that he still can go out and do things, as no matter how much he has done, he cannot have done everything. This line is important, as Gleams leaves the reader with the impression that it is almost tempting to Ulysses to go and live like he did in the past. In My Last Duchess , Browning allows the reader to understand the Duke through what he is saying and what he is doing. The first two lines introduce us to the main topic of the Duke s speech which is a painting of his last wife. The lines: That s my last Duchess painted on the wall, looking as if she were alive hint to us that the duchess is not alive anymore, but Browning has made us unsure, and therefore invites us to read more into the poem. Browning engages the reader by inviting them to make their own judgements about the Duke, and hinting on what he is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Practiced in 31 states and abolished in 19 the death penalty has remained a center stone of debate since its launch in 1976. With so many differing viewpoints, arguments pertaining to the moral issue, legal considerations and possible alternatives have been left unsettled since. The ongoing tug of war within these topics slowly tries to chip away at the big question. Should the death penalty be allowed? In their eyes, the death of murders relieves the burning vengeance and pain victims loved ones go through. Opponents argue against the thought of revenge and any connection it has towards justice or fulfilling the grief of death. They argue that vengeance only makes things worse and extends the chain of violence, claiming it has no place in our justice system. Along with moral issues, social unfairness such as poverty and race have always been woven into concern among the two sides. One argument touches on the economic state of the convicted and how it affects his/her chances of being executed. People of poverty don t have the money to hire a good legal representative leaving them with a weak defense against their crime. I don t know of any affluent people who have been sentenced to death, said Walter Berns, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington. People of poverty who are given a representative by the state find that often that their defendant is ill experienced and underpaid. Court appointed death penalty lawyers are paid barely enough to cover costs, are usually inexperienced, and often don t put up much of a fight, said Stephen Bright, director of the Southern Center for Human Rights in Atlanta. • 15. Why Does Shintoism Need To Compete With Christianity Shintoism is an ancient religion that predominates modern japan but it has undergone many changes to compete with many foreign religions such as Christianity. Does Shintoism need to conform to compete with Christianity better yet does it really need to compete with other religions anyway? The main sentiment that comes with foreign religions is to explain the creation of the universe usually depicting a divine being or god while Shintoism mainly tries to empower the mysteries of the universe rather than to explain them. Shintoism also through the most part lacks a holy book since most of the practices and ideas where spread through story tellers this causes an issue since foreign countries have to explain Shintoism on their own which make it look barbaric in comparison. The early history of Shintoism may shed some light on this argument to understand some of the reason for the Shinto conformation. At around 300 B.C.E the Japanese people where set up in small clans named Uji and each clan where unique from each other since they developed independently due to the mountains such as Fuji (Kasulis, 75). She has no social life and she only leaves the house when she has to. Alan Bennett shows Miss Ruddock s loneliness through her obsession of writing letters. • 18. Reflection On The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum I have attended the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of Arts for my cultural event essay, on Wednesday November 18, 2015. Attending this museum is considered a cultural event since it provides you with the opportunity to learn about the different styles of artworks of different time periods. This museum contained many works that are influenced by classicism which is a style of historical tradition or aesthetic attitudes based on the art of Greece and Rome ( Classicism and Neoclassicism ). One particular piece of art that drew upon my attention was the leaded glass window of the Aurora, the Roman goddess of dawn created by Louis Comfort Tiffany, an American artist and designer of the 19th century ( The Charles Hosmer ). The window was created based upon the original painting of the Aurora by Will H. Low, a muralist designer for Tiffany ( Biography ). The Aurora is influenced by the roots of western civilization by visual characteristics such as her contrapposto stance. I believe that this art is trying to communicate how Aurora is preparing to renew herself in the water to carry out her duties as a goddess. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tiffany used a technique known as plating, which is placing pieces of glass on top of one another to create the effects of light and shade (The Charles Hosmer). Pros And Cons Of Weathering Lab Discussion and Conclusion: I hypothesized that the four limestones being introduced to the four different solutions used in this chemical weathering lab would weather at different rates. First, in cup one, it was hypothesized that the 50% vinegar solution will have the greatest amount of chemical weathering on the limestone, because the 50% vinegar solution is the strongest and most like actual acid rains. Next, in cup two, it was hypothesized that the 10% vinegar solution will have less chemical weathering effects than cup one, because the 10% vinegar solution has less chemical weathering strength compared to the 50% solution. It is seen all around us from headstones, to national parks, to the Statue of Liberty. First, chemical weathering is one of the main reasons cemeteries commonly use a quartz or granite headstone instead of limestone for today s memorial markers. The older limestone based markers have shown they deteriorate over time from environmental factors, such as chemical weathering, and become difficult or even impossible to read (Best Materials for Gravestones). This is also true of many older monuments. Next, chemical weathering can be seen in national parks. In Carlsbad, New Mexico, the Carlsbad Caverns were created due to chemical weathering. They were formed by sulfuric acid that dissolved limestone (National Geographic, 2011). Finally, chemical weathering is also prevalent on the Statue of Liberty. The weathering of the copper of the statue has caused oxidation resulting in a thin layer of patina on Lady Liberty (Why is the Statue of Libery Green?). Weathering is a natural process and some sources of chemical weathering are natural; however some causes of chemical weathering are from human activities. Chemical compounds released into the air contribute to chemical weathering. These compounds can come from the emissions from factories, power plants, and automobiles. • 23. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Social Behavior There are 3 basic research methods that social psychologists use to describe behaviors. Each of these have both strengths and weaknesses. The observational method is done by observing and collecting data which is then used to describe the behavior. The researcher observes the events in a natural setting so none of the variables are manipulated. There must be interjudge reliability, meaning that when different researchers administer the same test to the same subject they each must obtain the same measurement. The advantages in this method is that it is the simplest method, it has greater accuracy, and it is useful for setting up hypothesis. The weaknesses are that this method is hard to observe because of privacy and secrecy. It is great for explanation but not as good for prediction and description. The observer might also be biased being that he has his own opinion on what is right and wrong. The correlation method focuses on prediction. It is a statistical measure of two or more variables and the relation between them are assessed. The Correlation coefficient assesses how well you can predict one variable from another. A positive correlation is when the value of one variable increases it is associated with the increase of the other variable. For example height and weight, the more one grows the more he will weigh. A negative correlation is when the value of one variable increases it is associated with the decrease of the other variable. An example is that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Are The Influence Of The Roman Bath And The Roman Baths Both the Roman Baths and the British Museum exemplified the dominating influence of the Roman and Greek empires in Britain s early history. However, even though both possess features of the Roman era, only the British Museum had Grecian elements in its galleries as well. The presence of both institutions highlight the imperial nature Britain adapted in arts, architecture, and foreign affairs due to the exposure to these two cultures. The Roman Baths was a public bath house where people went for bathing and socializing. It s well engineered system and beautiful structure made out to be a wonderful place for people to meet on a day to day business to catch up with current events and matters of the like. Unlike the Roman Baths, the British Museum is not a social hangout, but a public space where everyone can learn something from almost every continent through their treasures. There are sculptures, dishes, clocks, and many other exquisite pieces exhibited in the museum to represent the various cultures they come from. It s evident from various historical British locations that both the Romans and Greeks had a strong presence in Britain s early history. Around 70 AD, the Roman Baths were constructed by the Romans when they believed that the spring water was a gift from the Gods ( Roman Baths ). At this point in history, the Romans had already invaded Britain several years beforehand. Them building holy structures on British land is one of many occasions where they showcased a mentality that whatever they touched was theirs. An attitude that Britain would later adopt during the Age of Exploration. Similarly, the Parthenon statues in the British Museum commonly depicted images of power, strength, and beauty. The statues not only symbolized power by placing warriors on horses, but also by defining the muscles and bone structures of the subjects. It seemed as if there were two modes for the statues: Herculean stances or sensual poses that provoked godly features. Such idealistic images have had lasting impacts on art and architecture around the globe. The Evolution Of Presidential Campaigns Niko Kazanjian Presidential Politics 12/2/14 The Evolution of Presidential Campaigns and Government Media Relations The media has always played an important role in the President s relationship with the public, but just what kind of affect does it really have on the executive office? The first televised presidential debate in 1960 between John F. Kennedy and Richard Nixon marked the beginning of a new era the inaugural shift of the media s role in politics. Since that time, the media has continued to transform the way the president is perceived by the public through print, broadcast, and more recently, social media. All of said outlets have played vital roles in not only a president s campaign, but also in their presidency and likability throughout their time in office. While the White House is still the source of most presidential news, the media are the shapers of the story and can frame it pretty much any way they want. There used to be limits on certain issues or realms of the presidency that were to remain untouched, however, first amendment freedoms take precedence over almost any restriction the government could try to place on the media. In treatment 1, 5 mL of 400 mM sucrose solution (SS) was dyed with 4 droplets of red food colouring. 5 mL of 40 mM SS was dyed with 3 droplets of blue food coloring. She said that the contraction idea was developed from looking at the physical effects of grief and great sadness (especially from childbirth) from the body and it makes her dances very expressive. Since her creation of the move it has become a key aspect of modern dance and it has been used and developed by many subsequent choreographers. • 40. Theme Of Heroism In Casablanca Casablanca Casablanca was directed by Michale Curtiz in 1942. There were three main actors. Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergam and Paul Henreid played Rick, Ilsa and Laszlo in Casablanca. This movie talked about an American named Rick who needed to choose between his love for a woman named Ilsa and help her husband who wanted to continue fighting against the Nazis escape the city of Casablanca. In this movie, we could see three themes, heroism, honor and love. First, heroism is a concept that a person will consider the overall situation and make great decisions and actions. Secondly, honor is a moral concept which is respected. Third, love is an emotion that people will fall in with each other and understand and take care of each other forever. However, I will talk about heroism in my essay. Here are three main ideas to introduce my statements. First of all, Roger Ebert says, I identify with Rick, and what moves me is not his love for Ilsa but his ability to put a higher good above that love. The author said Rick s action was higher above that love. In some ways, it was heroism. Rick loves Ilsa, he could do anything only for Ilsa. But he considered Ilsa s situation, he couldn t do selfish behavior. In other words, Rick could refuse to give Laszlo and Ilsa transit and keep Ilsa company with him. On the contrary, Rick gave them transit to America for free and let his love leave with another man who fighted with their enemies. Ilsa said in the movie, I can t fight it anymore. I ran away from you once. I can t do it again. I don t know what s right any longer. You ll have to think for both of us, for all of us. Ilsa didn t know what is the right choice between justice and love. Actually, Ilsa also liked Rick. Rick and Ilsa had old unforgettable thing that Ilsa ran away from Rick to return her husband. Although Rick were angry when he remembered some scenes with Ilsa, he still helped Ilsa and made right for her. In a sense, Rick was like a hero who were generous. Next, Richard Corliss says, The galaxy of supporting characters in Casablanca constitute a dazzling, baroque hall of mirrors that reflect facets and distoetions of the leading characters lives and life styles...One of these variations which almost ... [edit] Groundwater pollution See also: Hydrogeology Interactions between groundwater and surface water are complex. Consequently, groundwater pollution, sometimes referred to as groundwater contamination, is not as easily classified as surface water pollution.[7] By its very nature, groundwater aquifers are susceptible to contamination from sources that may not directly affect surface water bodies, and the distinction of point vs. non point source may be irrelevant. A spill or ongoing releases of chemical or radionuclide contaminants into soil (located away from a surface water body) may not create point source or non point source pollution, but can contaminate the aquifer below, defined as a toxin plume. The movement of the plume, a plume front, can be part of a Hydrological transport model or Groundwater model. Analysis of groundwater contamination may focus on the soil characteristics and site geology, hydrogeology, hydrology, and the nature of the contaminants. Among the leadership traits, morality is has been defined as a very significant reality in how the leaders would interact. By extension, various definitions have been brought forward in the attempts to understand morality. However, moral relativism has been defined as a theoretical approach under which what is right and what is wrong is effectively studied, (Sergiovanni, 2013). Therefore, it is very difficult to distinguish ethics from morality. Ethics and morality seem to augment each other in emphasizing the guiding principles of life. • 46. My Bubble Research Paper In the past, I was not the most outgoing of people. I never spoke over others, and I only opened my mouth when asked. I always let others walk over me because I feared confrontation. I lived within my own bubble of safety. As long as I stayed within the boundaries of everything and away from everyone, I convinced myself that this was the most efficient way to live. No problems with anyone else, and no problems within my life. Although the life I lived was very safe, it was also very colorless. This mindset of safety clouded over me and influenced almost all of my choices. I never seemed to muster up the courage to talk to new people and stayed within my circle of friends. I never branched out, I never tried out for sports, or the school musical or anything new because I feared the results would not turn out in my favor. Even food wise, I did not try new things. Growing up in a Filipino household, I was offered a plethora of diverse cultural foods; I however, had a very strict diet of apple slices and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. This tied to my mindset of staying within my safety bubble. Trying new things was against my entire being, as if I would malfunction like a robot without oil. ...
