A Long History Of Unequal Treatment Among Ethnic Minority...
Introduction
In the United States, there is a long history of unequal treatment among ethnic minority groups,
particularly for African Americans. Unfortunately, this injustice also appears in education.
Sociologists have affirmed the importance of education in shaping the economic and social prospects
of individuals. As all communities in the United States have been diversified, it becomes crucial to
recognize and properly deal with diversity within the classroom. All studnets should be guaranteed to
have equal opportunities for quality education at school. However, racism is still prevalent in many
schools today (Beswick, 4, 1990, Pennino, 2007). Racism now has different forms, like the individual
instructions student can get from their teachers, and the acceptance of students among their
classmates. These can have negative and lasting effects on students even when they leave school.
Students must not experience any type of stereotyping, ethnic prejudice or racial violence in schools.
Asante (2003) said: Racism in education can not be overcome by the expression of goodwill, it must
be constantly confronted in all conscious ways (p.223).
For some poor African American students, education is usually the last existing method by which they
can improve their family life level and escape from a long history of poverty. Therefore, whether the
education system will provide a fair environment for them, or more specifically, whether their teacher
will have prejudice among them and

Summary Of Slouching Toward Bethlehem By Joan Didion
Los Angeles possesses the characteristics of great fame and fortune as well as immense homelessness
and poverty. Often times, young people are misled by the financial success of some and assume that is
typical of city people. Writers Joan Didion and Carol Muske Dukes characterize the realization that an
adolescent s lifestyle is not suitable for the demands of a city as signaling the dawn of the apocalypse.
In the essay, Slouching Towards Bethlehem, Didion highlights how the failure of society is brought
about by a family s inability to fulfill traditional roles and a lack of education as exemplified during
the Hippie movement. While poet Muske Dukes utilizes gothic language and allusion to illustrate the
notion of an apocalypse in the poem Like This .
In the essay Slouching Towards Bethlehem , the author parallels the destruction of society to the
weakening of traditional family practices in an effort to demonstrate how apocalypse escalates in a
city. Didion begins her essay by describing notions of apocalypse in the form of bankruptcy
notices...casual killings and misplaced children and abandoned homes (84). While these actions do not
appear to target a specific group, in every case families receive the most set back. Families play an
essential role in preparing future generations to become working members of society. Until the age of
eighteen, a child is reliant upon their parents to supply adequate shelter, food, water, and access to
education. Traditionally, parents are responsible for guiding their children by communicating certain
values or morals to them. Didion emphasizes this aspect of childhood in her reflection on how parents
do not teach children, and will never learn the games that had held the society together (84). Before a
child is capable of formulating their own opinions, they look to their parents for guidance on matters
they cannot fully understand. As a child advances their education, they become more aware of how to
interpret their surroundings and will eventually cease to rely on the others opinions. Human behavior,
parenting, and education expert Dr. Gail Gross discusses the importance of parental figures by noting
how our interactions with our parents form the crucible for our

How Does Power Control In Macbeth
It is the human instinct that the more power one wants the more degenerate activities one must do to
accomplish it. In Shakespeare s disaster of Macbeth, a warrior whose respectable desire for control
drives him to do shocking deeds that prompt his end. Shakespeare demonstrates that power taints by
utilizing Macbeth who undermines under the prospect of having control over others. Macbeth winds

the general population that he runs the show. Macbeth needs the power seriously enough to do
loathsome deeds, for example, submit regicide.
Who is responsible for Duncan s death? Someone filled with anger, greed, or jealousy. Both, Macbeth
and Lady Macbeth was responsible for the death of Duncan because they both agreed on killing King

Friedrich a Hayek
Running head: FRIEDRICH HAYEK 1 Friedrich August Von Hayek Donotra Woods Post University
FRIEDRICH HAYEK 2 According to Hayek (1994, p. 168) Probably it is true enough that the great
majority are rarely capable of thinking independently, that on most questions they accept views which
they find ready made, and that they will be equally content if born or coaxed into one set of beliefs or

Hayek acknowledged trade cycles as monetary authorized by the government, a semi monopoly is
created and basic money is controlled. He was convinced in order to keep the economy in good
condition, it was important to have a limited democracy. Hayek s theory of business cycles and the
role of monetary policy create a boom and bust cycle. The booms and busts develop when the central
bank independently decides to cheapen credit, and expand the supply of loanable funds. In like
manner, investors become more optimistic in new technology they want to invest in. They come to
banks when they want to borrow more. Instead, banks allowed the interest rate to go up, and the
central bank becomes involved by injecting enough credit to keep the interest rate from rising. In the
presence of an on going boom, the way to prevent the boom from becoming FRIEDRICH HAYEK 5

the rate to the rate of growth of production, ...but [i]t does not follow that we should not stop a real

The Lower House Analysis
The United States Congress comprise two houses, one of them is the lower house known as the House
of Representatives, the upper house known as the Senate. These two chambers made up the legislative
branch due to the agreement of the bicameral legislature resulted from the Great Compromise in 1787.
The House represents the population, while the Senates are appointed by the Congress. Both started
new session on January 6, 2015. However, they have different majority leader; Kevin McCarthy was
the leader of the House of Representatives and Mitch McConnell was the leader of the Senate. People
who work for the lower house have to be fast because the representatives only have two year term. For
the upper house, people can work slower because of six year term; so the Senate can contemplate the
long term effects of laws. Two houses handle different responsibilities. The House of Representatives

which allows the House of Representatives to spend public money on national government. The
founding fathers decided that the House should have the power of spending public money because it s
closer to the public than the Senate. The Senate, the upper house, has an important role on
international relation. Even though the President can make foreign treaties, he President must have
Senate approval by two third votes in order to finalize the treaty to foreign nations. This was designed
so that the President has the opportunity to use counsel and advice from the legislative branch, as well
as involving in checking presidential power in order to make checks and balances

How Does Cholesterol Affects Your Body
Cholesterol affects everyone at some point in time. Cholesterol is a lipid, a soft, fat like substance that
in a reasonable amount is crucial in maintaining good health. The liver produces a fat like a particle

Alternative Fuels and Technology for Electricity Production
For the past 200 years, human society has had a ravenous appetite for fossil fuels. The huge increase
in human population and also the industrial revolution were the major sources of fossil fuel
consumption. However it is becoming obvious that our dependence on fossil fuels is causing many
problems that we are going to have to address. We now consume ~ 13 terawatts (TW) of energy
worldwide but an additional 10 TW of energy will be required to maintain present lifestyles by 2050
(Chae et al. 2009). Therefore, our greatest challenge is to find means to reduce the extraction and
combustion of fossil fuels. Fortunately, we have the potential to reduce the CO2 emission from fossil
fuels combustion by converting them into renewable, carbon neutral energy sources that provide the
energy services now obtained from fossil fuels (Rittmann 2008). Biomass is one of most preferred
renewable resources for chemicals and fuel production as it already contains renewable energy stored
in its chemical bonds. Recently, many conversion technologies are being developed or have already
been developed for chemicals and fuel extraction from relatively concentrated biomass, such as
agricultural byproducts and wood (Hatti Kaul et al. 2007; Kamm and Kamm 2004). However, only
few conversion technologies currently exist for fuel and chemicals production from relatively diluted
aqueous biomass, such as domestic, agricultural and industrial wastewaters. Still, wastewater

weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (239). In this paper, I will use a personal approach to the
SWOT analysis to help understand the strengths and opportunities that I possess, along with the
weaknesses and threats that I face. By identifying these four factors in my life, I hope to use them to
my advantage as my career progresses. Realizing my own strengths and improving upon my own
weaknesses can help me move forward in my career with confidence. Overcoming threats that come
my way, and taking advantages of opportunities will help me to achieve my goals and become more

Living with an open mind also helps me be more creative. It lets me look at the world around me with
fresh eyes, and it helps me gain confidence in myself and my own ideas. It is important to recognize
my own weaknesses in order to improve upon them and know where I stand with any competitors. My
main weaknesses are my communication skills and falling into the habit of procrastination.
Communication, particularly with a large group of people, is sometimes difficult for me. I find it hard
to speak up and be confident, and to network and find my place within the academic community.
Going forward, I am trying to improve my interview and public speaking skills in order to combat this
weakness. Another weakness that I have is that I become distracted easily, while at the same time I am
a perfectionist. This leads to a great deal of procrastination and issues with time management.
Although I am dedicated to my education, factors such as commitments to friends and family and
occasional lack of motivation keep me off track and lead to procrastination. Having weaknesses is
something that can be harmful when competing with others. However, having weaknesses is
inevitable, so it is important for me to identify and deal with them instead of avoiding them.
According to Robbins and Coulter, opportunities are positive trends in the external environment,
threats are negative trends (239). Throughout the past few years, I have faced threats that

Starting off: Each Player is dealt 7 cards. Before the first hand is dealt, players must shuffle the deck,
and choose a random card from the deck. The lowest card chose has to deal. After this, the dealer must
deal 7 cards to each player in a clockwise rotation and flip one card face up on the table. A player can
have up to 7 cards in their hand at a time.
The whole point of the game is to neighbor the card that is currently placed on the table. Scoring will

should lay it down. It is kind of like the card game Speed or any other card games that involve

Personal Statement For My Future Goals Essay
This assessment requires me to reflect on past experiences in physical activity and how I have been
involved in these activities in the past. And how these experiences varied by the contribution towards
my own wellbeing. I will then evaluate this to make strategies for my future lifelong wellbeing in the
future what it should look like.
Physical activities and experiences that I paraitcaped in as I grew up I mainly found swim sessions,
ball rush, golf and cricket as positive experiences as we did them with my family and younger friends
which I really enjoyed doing I found rugby to become a negative experience for me. As in rugby my
friends had stopped playing, as I was too small and got smashed from the larger players so I
participated in other activities. Rugby is a national sport in New Zealand and I have the assumption of
being played by large muscular males and most New Zealand children when growing up. Which in my
case is not true as I m more towards the ectomorph body shape which proves the assumption that the
bigger mesomorph players tended to be better than I was at the time. A positive of this rugby
expericne was that it is a sport that I ve had not family influences to participate in it as many of the
sports I do play have, which can be a positive from this experience. I ve always enjoyed playing golf

Biography Of Garson Kanin And David Crane And Hands On A...
This past week, I had the opportunity to experience a magnificent play called Born Yesterday by
Garson Kanin. This performance was the third of three plays I saw at the Arizona Repertory Theatre.
The other two plays were Epic Proportions by Larry Coen and David Crane and Hands on a Hardbody
by Doug Wright. These were the first plays I have been to, not only while attending the University of
Arizona, but in my generation as a teenager. All together, these performances were amazing and have
brought a newly improved insight to my perception of theatre. The hard work and dedication by the
actors, directors, producers, cast members, and sound developers were absolutely incredible and I
have tremendous respect for their efforts during the overall sequence of producing the plays. The most
recent performance I saw, Born Yesterday, can be described and reflected on through various topics
such as lighting, sound, directing and producing.
I decided to arrive a half hour early to witness all the elements of the stage, audience, and theater in
order to truly express my thoughts on the external features of the play. The Marroney theatre has 332
seats which were designed like movie theatre chairs. They were manufactured to be a bold red with
black carpet surrounding the floor to cover the entire theatre space. For the first thirty minutes before
Born Yesterday started, the theatre played classical music to soothe the ears of the audience and create
a bridge to a rather quiet prolonged

Introduction
Tuberculosis is a disease of an infectious nature caused by a bacterium known as mycobacterium
tuberculosis. The disease spreads through the air. People with the disease can spread it to susceptible
people through coughing, sneezing, talking or spitting. It mainly affects the lungs and other parts such
as the lymph nodes and kidneys can also be affected. The symptoms for TB are fatigue, coughing,
night sweats, weight loss and fever. One third of the population of the world is affected with
mycobacterium tuberculosis. The rate of infection is estimated to be one person per second. About 14
million people in the world are infected with active tuberculosis. Drug resistant TB has been recorded
to be a serious public health hazard in many countries. Resistant strains have developed making it
difficult to treat the disease. TB has caused millions of death mainly in people living with HIV/AIDS

The country part of the island is mountainous with goats scaling anything they can get their hooves

Symbolism through Theme Of Jane Eyre and Wide Sargasso Sea To produce a mighty book, you must
choose a mighty theme. No great and enduring volume can ever be written on the flea, though many
there be that have tried it, stated Herman Melville. As implied, without theme, no novel can be
considered mighty or have any depth. Theme is essential in any work of art. Jane Eyre is a novel by
Charlotte Brontë that takes the reader through the experiences of Jane Eyre, from childhood to
adulthood. This includes her love for Mr. Rochester, who is the master of Thornfield Hall, the school
in which Jane works at as an adult. Wide Sargasso Sea, a novel by Jean Rhys, includes ... Show more

In some cases, it is a symbol used in some cases for rebirth or new life. Jane is often compared to fire
while Antoinette is intrigued by fire. Jane is referred to as a ridge of lighted health, alive, glancing,
devouring (Wide Sargasso Sea, Chapter 4). Also, in Wide Sargasso Sea, Rochester loves the immense
fireflies as he also loves the candles that Antoinette repeatedly puts out around the house. This theme
of fire is obvious in two particular cases. One of these cases is when Coulibri is burned and Anette
falls into insanity, and the other being when Bertha burns Thornfield down, ultimately killing herself
and seriously injuring Rochester (Symbolism in Wide Sargasso Sea). In addition, Rochester, in Wide
Sargasso Sea, describes the West Indies as fiery . This shows his dislike of the land he is not familiar
with until it increases and reaches the point when he decides to shoot himself. This scene relates to the
scene in Jane Eyre when Jane hears Rochester s voice as she walks through the woods. Fire relates
Jane and Antoinette in different ways. Fire additionally describes Jane s love for Rochester, while on
the other hand; it describes Antoinette s pain and fear, whereas it also links Jane and Bertha. The fire
that Jane possesses is her love for Rochester as she describes it as fiery iron grasped my vitals, and
Bertha s literal setting of the fire that kills her. This is symbolic of the new

Examples Of Nihilism In Beowulf
The saying found in Grendel that goes Nihil ex nihilo, which is found in chapter ten means that life
itself is meaningless. The novel revolves around this concept pretty often, and it is brought up a
numerous amount of times specifically by Grendel. This concept of nihilism can be seen unravelling
within Grendel as he gets older.
Before we see Grendel experience nihilism, he begins his life with an existentialistic point of view.
Grendel lived his life the way he wanted because he could and he did not let anyone else tell him
otherwise. After leaving his mother s cave, Grendel s world changes, and everything surrounding him
confuses him. Once Grendel discovers creatures who think and some what talk like him, he watches

From the idea of individualism and independence stems off nihilism. The character who introduces
nihilism to Grendel is the Dragon, who represents the beginning, present and end. All time, all space.
When Grendel falls to the dragon s lair in chapter 5, he learns from the dragon that repetition is key to
nihilism, because time is a cycle and it is therefore meaningless. Due to this piece of information,
Grendel decides to keep being his horrible self. This nihilistic perspective that Grendel has been
upholding becomes shifted by the attempt of men who try to kill him, such as Unferth. The fact that
Unferth wants to attack Grendel to be heroic, even if its just to himself deteriorates the idea of
nihilism. Ironically, the meaning that Grendel has found for himself is meaningless violence,

oneself, but Grendel still decides to neglect this meaning through mockery because the way he is

Technology And Science By Law Enforcement
The National Institute of Justice defines forensic science as, the application of science, such as
physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, and engineering to matters of law, (2014). The
emphasis here is the use of technology and science by law enforcement officers and agencies and is
accepted and recognized by the criminal justice system. It is seen as scientific technology or
Criminalistics, (Dempsey Forst, 2013). While technology plays a role in this, it is most recognized by
the use of science by law enforcement and allowing scientific information to be admissible in the
court of law. For this reason, forensic science is seen as a method to resolve legal matters or a
scientific analysis for the purpose of judicial resolution, (Collins, 2007, p. 2). Weather this is using
chemistry, such as a drug testing kit, to determine if a substance is an illegal drug, forensic science has

George Bush as a Machiavellian Leader Essay
George Bush as a Machiavellian Leader
George Bush and Niccolo Machiavelli are two very influential political figures that share some similar
ideals. Machiavelli s work was never intended to be applied to republics, or a democratic government.
The advice written in The Prince would have likely been applied in the time of absolute government,
when countries were ruled by one leader. It is a work which, as Machiavelli himself says that his
philosophy is only applied to principalities, or what we call dictatorships in modern times.
Elected from the state of Texas, George Bush is a strictly right winged conservative. When he was
governor, Bush showed no clemency for the death row inmates which resulted in a record number of

And in case you missed the message, Russia has also agreed to supply advanced surface to air missiles
to Syria, the latest focus of U.S. ire in the Middle East again in defiance of Washington s stated wishes

Presently, the United States, Great Britain, Germany, France, India, and China have or can develop
devastating nuclear bombs. Nuclear bombs can cause unfathomable destruction of land and people.
North Korea and Iran, the two very radical countries appear to be on the verge of making nuclear
bombs. Mr. Bush on his recent trip to Europe tried to rally support from major leaders to stop selling
nuclear material and secrets to these two states. His opposition of nuclear energy in the hands of
dictators is for the common good of America and other countries. It may not be fair or equitable to
keep the nuclear energy away from a certain group or state, but the result is focused mainly on the
security for the rest of the world.
Machiavelli also wrote how to govern dominions that are being occupied by people that live under
their own laws and values. His first edict reflects the Bush Administration s actions and decisions on
how to spread democracy in Iraq:
When those states which have been acquired are accustomed to live at liberty under their own laws,
there are three ways of holding them. The first is to despoil them; the second is to go and live there in
person; the third is to

Murder Of The American Detective
Murders in the Rue Morgue is one of Edgar Allan Poe s more famous literary works. Arguably. Poe
may be called the father of the American detective story with his trilogy involving Det. Dupin in
Murders in the Rue Morgue, the Purloined Letter, and the Mystery of Marie Roget. Poe uses the
peculiar eccentricities of hero Detective C. Augustus Dupin to make these mysteries enthralling to the
reader. Dupin is purported to be the forerunner to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s genius detective Sherlock
Holmes. Poe created a new genre that captivated the imagination of his readers and paved the way for
both English and American authors to write detective stories. Poe gives his Detective Dupin the ability
to think outside the box to take in every little detail to solve the problem using the technique of
deductive reasoning. Poe describes Detective Dupin of having the capability of processing a certain
kind of genius whose mind combines the qualities of the rational or analytic with the fanciful or
intuition. The narrator is astounded by Dupin s ability to weed his way through situations with his
mysterious usage of observation with only the tiniest of details to bring him to the solution. In the
scene of the alleyway, Dupin uses his surroundings as a guide to concur what it is that his faithful
friend, the narrator, was thinking about. Dupin, said I, gravely, this is beyond my comprehension. I do
not hesitate to say that I am amazed, and can scarcely credit my senses. How was it possible

Youth Development Programs
Youth Development Programs Historical Development of Youth Development Programs, Youth
Development Programs in the Early Twenty First Century Youth development programs seek to
improve the lives of children and adolescents by meeting their basic physical, developmental, and
social needs and by helping them to build the competencies needed to become successful adults.
Examples of youth development programs include community service, mentoring programs, and
neighborhood youth centers. It is unclear exactly how many youth development programs are
operating in the United States in the early twenty first century. In 1998 the Internal Revenue Service

Poor families resented having their children sent so far away, and eventually the western states
complained about what they perceived to be the dumping of thousands of delinquent and needy
children each year. The economic shift from an agrarian society to an industrial society reduced the
need for child labor on farms and further doomed this movement. Brace s conviction that family life
was best for children and youth, however, continues to influence services for children to this day. The
first half of the twentieth century brought growing interest in the problem of juvenile delinquency.
Investigation done by Dr. William Healy s Juvenile Psychopathic Institute led to the realization that
the problem of delinquent children was not limited to the poorest classes. Further, delinquency was
increasingly viewed as resulting from numerous factors, with the most prevalent being the lack of
parental discipline resulting from the loss of one or both parents. Concurrently, it was becoming
increasingly clear that efforts to punish offending youth did not deter future criminal action and that
many of the youth who left institutions often returned. As a result, interest shifted to finding ways to
treat troubled youth, rather than merely punish them, and led to the creation of the juvenile court
system, which separated juvenile and adult offenders and focused on rehabilitation and cure. The first
juvenile court law was enacted in Illinois in 1899, and by 1919 all but

without explicit warning, which crippled the United States Pacific Fleet, leaving eight American
battleships out of action, 188 American aircraft destroyed, and 2,403 American citizens dead.
In the spring of 1942, a few months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the Empire of Japan planned to
attack southern New Guinea, to knock Australia and New Zealand. The Allies, including the United
States, and Australia, assembled a large fleet in the Coral Sea to block the Empire of Japan. After
several days of searching and fighting, the Japanese and Allied fleets found each other on May 8 and

Loss Of Survival In Hatchet By Gary Paulsen
Have you ever survived on your own before? If not, would you be able too? All alone in the
wilderness? Throughout the novel Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen, the main character Brian survived a
gruesome plane crash, and finds himself in the Canadian Wilderness, surviving on his own for 54
days. One of the main reasons why Brian was able to survive was because of fire. However, Brian
went through many awareness moments to help him continue the survival in the wilderness. Aha
moments are the one key that helped Brian throughout the journey. In chapter 8 the text says, Like.
Fire. That is it, he thought what they were typing to tell me. Fire. The hatchet was the key to it all.
When he threw the hatchet at the porcupine tin the cave and missed and hit the stone wall I had

stick and build a signal fire on top of the rock, make clouds of smoke and perhaps attract attention.
Which meant more wood. And still more wood. This aha moment can change things for Brian because
he now knows that he could find a way to signal the rescuers when they come and save him. This
could lead to a better, safer, and easier way for Brian to get found. Also, he now can cook food for

Sacco Vanzetti Research Paper
Sacco Vanzetti trial During the 20th century one of the most controversial legal cases in American
history was the Sacco Vanzetti trial. Sacco and Vanzetti were accused of a double murder, and were
sentenced to death by electric chair. Although, the trial wasn t as simple as it seems, the only piece of
evidence tying them to the case was a tweed cap found on the crime scene and many believed that
they were only being accused of these murders because of their political beliefs and the fact that they
were italian immigrants.
Nicola Sacco was a thirty two year old immigrant born on April 22, 1891 in Torremaggiore, Italy. He
moved to the U.S. when he was seventeen and worked as shoemaker in Plymouth, where he lived with
his wife and two kids. Bartolomeo Vanzetti was a twenty nine year old fish peddler born June 12,
1888 in Villafalletto, Italy. He moved the Plymouth when he was twenty year sold, and was taken back
when he discovered how working class immigrants were treated in the United States during this time
period. Nicola and Bartolomeo were both anarchists, people who believes in or tries to bring about
anarchy. The two men were involved in left wing politics and met at an anarchists gathering, where

now doing to me. The death of these men had a huge impact on the world. The US was divided and
Europe was disturbed by the fact that these men were killed over a crime that they had not committed.

The summer of 2011 was catastrophic, seeing the deaths of many former NHL players such as Leafe
Wade Belak, Rick Rypien, and Derek Boogaard. In 2002, the death of Mike Webster shocked many,

NFL for 17 years, Mike Webster was found with symptoms of dementia. Dr. Omalu described it as a
brain of an old person who is suffering from Alzheimer s disease. After many other players were
diagnosed with CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy), they filed a lawsuit against the NFL. In

Qajar Empire Essay
The Qajar empire, brought to power under Agha Mohammad Khan, became, and maintained its
position as a major ruling strength in Persia between the years of 1795 and 1925. With the death of the
final Zand dynasty ruler, Moḥammad Karīm Khān Zand, in 1779, Agha Mohammad Khan worked to
unite the rest of the Qajar empire under him began to take his rise to power. This Turkmen group,
ancestrally from present day Azerbaijan, and it s leader set out to reunify Iran under their rule, leaving
a legacy that would live out the extent of the empire and find its way into modern day history books.
The experiences, strength, drive, and ruthlessness of Agha Mohammad Khan aided to secure his long
sought rise to power as the undisputed Shah of Persia in the 1790 s, and set the stage for one of the
longest lasting empires in modern day Iran.
Agha Mohammad Khan was a descendent of the ancestors of the Qajars, Fath Ali Khan of the Qajar
Dynasty, and Fazl Ali Khan founder of the Qajar Qoyunlu Khans. Fath Ali Khan was executed by
Ṭahmāsb II of the Ṣafawiyyān house and was thus succeeded in power by his eldest son Mohammad
Hasan Khan. Moḥammad Ḥasan Khan, chief of the Qavānlū (Qoyunlū) clan of the Qajars of
Astarābād fathered his eldest son, Agha Mohammad Khan, later Shah of the Qajar Dynasty, born in
about 1742.

FINANCIAL REPORTING 2.1 Agency costs and financial reporting. The original development of
accounting and financial reporting appears to be driven by control of agency costs. These costs arise
when a principal delegates decision making ability to an agent who maximizes his own welfare rather
than that of the principal. There is considerable evidence that writing itself was developed in order to
allow for accounting and control of the costs of agency relations such as that between a noble and a
steward (de Ste Croix 1956; Yamey, 1962; Chadwick, 1992). Millennia later the wardens of English
medieval guilds would prepare and present audited financial accounts as a mechanism to reduce
agency costs (Watts and Zimmerman, 1983). The early English companies inherited this mechanism
from the guilds. For example, even in its first years the British East India Company prepared annual
audited financial statements and presented those statements

  • 2. A Long History Of Unequal Treatment Among Ethnic Minority... Introduction In the United States, there is a long history of unequal treatment among ethnic minority groups, particularly for African Americans. Unfortunately, this injustice also appears in education. Sociologists have affirmed the importance of education in shaping the economic and social prospects of individuals. As all communities in the United States have been diversified, it becomes crucial to recognize and properly deal with diversity within the classroom. All studnets should be guaranteed to have equal opportunities for quality education at school. However, racism is still prevalent in many schools today (Beswick, 4, 1990, Pennino, 2007). Racism now has different forms, like the individual instructions student can get from their teachers, and the acceptance of students among their classmates. These can have negative and lasting effects on students even when they leave school. Students must not experience any type of stereotyping, ethnic prejudice or racial violence in schools. Asante (2003) said: Racism in education can not be overcome by the expression of goodwill, it must be constantly confronted in all conscious ways (p.223). For some poor African American students, education is usually the last existing method by which they can improve their family life level and escape from a long history of poverty. Therefore, whether the education system will provide a fair environment for them, or more specifically, whether their teacher will have prejudice among them and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Summary Of Slouching Toward Bethlehem By Joan Didion Los Angeles possesses the characteristics of great fame and fortune as well as immense homelessness and poverty. Often times, young people are misled by the financial success of some and assume that is typical of city people. Writers Joan Didion and Carol Muske Dukes characterize the realization that an adolescent s lifestyle is not suitable for the demands of a city as signaling the dawn of the apocalypse. In the essay, Slouching Towards Bethlehem, Didion highlights how the failure of society is brought about by a family s inability to fulfill traditional roles and a lack of education as exemplified during the Hippie movement. While poet Muske Dukes utilizes gothic language and allusion to illustrate the notion of an apocalypse in the poem Like This . In the essay Slouching Towards Bethlehem , the author parallels the destruction of society to the weakening of traditional family practices in an effort to demonstrate how apocalypse escalates in a city. Didion begins her essay by describing notions of apocalypse in the form of bankruptcy notices...casual killings and misplaced children and abandoned homes (84). While these actions do not appear to target a specific group, in every case families receive the most set back. Families play an essential role in preparing future generations to become working members of society. Until the age of eighteen, a child is reliant upon their parents to supply adequate shelter, food, water, and access to education. Traditionally, parents are responsible for guiding their children by communicating certain values or morals to them. Didion emphasizes this aspect of childhood in her reflection on how parents do not teach children, and will never learn the games that had held the society together (84). Before a child is capable of formulating their own opinions, they look to their parents for guidance on matters they cannot fully understand. As a child advances their education, they become more aware of how to interpret their surroundings and will eventually cease to rely on the others opinions. Human behavior, parenting, and education expert Dr. Gail Gross discusses the importance of parental figures by noting how our interactions with our parents form the crucible for our ... Friedrich a Hayek Running head: FRIEDRICH HAYEK 1 Friedrich August Von Hayek Donotra Woods Post University FRIEDRICH HAYEK 2 According to Hayek (1994, p. 168) Probably it is true enough that the great majority are rarely capable of thinking independently, that on most questions they accept views which they find ready made, and that they will be equally content if born or coaxed into one set of beliefs or another. Hayek acknowledged trade cycles as monetary authorized by the government, a semi monopoly is created and basic money is controlled. He was convinced in order to keep the economy in good condition, it was important to have a limited democracy. Hayek s theory of business cycles and the role of monetary policy create a boom and bust cycle. The booms and busts develop when the central bank independently decides to cheapen credit, and expand the supply of loanable funds. In like manner, investors become more optimistic in new technology they want to invest in. They come to banks when they want to borrow more. Instead, banks allowed the interest rate to go up, and the central bank becomes involved by injecting enough credit to keep the interest rate from rising. In the presence of an on going boom, the way to prevent the boom from becoming FRIEDRICH HAYEK 5 an uncontrollable inflationary spiral was to stop increases in the quantity of money, or at least reduce the rate to the rate of growth of production, ...but [i]t does not follow that we should not stop a real deflation (Cochran, 2011, p. 276). • 8. Alternative Fuels and Technology for Electricity Production For the past 200 years, human society has had a ravenous appetite for fossil fuels. The huge increase in human population and also the industrial revolution were the major sources of fossil fuel consumption. However it is becoming obvious that our dependence on fossil fuels is causing many problems that we are going to have to address. We now consume ~ 13 terawatts (TW) of energy worldwide but an additional 10 TW of energy will be required to maintain present lifestyles by 2050 (Chae et al. 2009). Therefore, our greatest challenge is to find means to reduce the extraction and combustion of fossil fuels. Fortunately, we have the potential to reduce the CO2 emission from fossil fuels combustion by converting them into renewable, carbon neutral energy sources that provide the energy services now obtained from fossil fuels (Rittmann 2008). Biomass is one of most preferred renewable resources for chemicals and fuel production as it already contains renewable energy stored in its chemical bonds. Recently, many conversion technologies are being developed or have already been developed for chemicals and fuel extraction from relatively concentrated biomass, such as agricultural byproducts and wood (Hatti Kaul et al. 2007; Kamm and Kamm 2004). However, only few conversion technologies currently exist for fuel and chemicals production from relatively diluted aqueous biomass, such as domestic, agricultural and industrial wastewaters. Still, wastewater represents a large potential ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By identifying these four factors in my life, I hope to use them to my advantage as my career progresses. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Living with an open mind also helps me be more creative. It lets me look at the world around me with fresh eyes, and it helps me gain confidence in myself and my own ideas. It is important to recognize my own weaknesses in order to improve upon them and know where I stand with any competitors. My main weaknesses are my communication skills and falling into the habit of procrastination. Communication, particularly with a large group of people, is sometimes difficult for me. I find it hard to speak up and be confident, and to network and find my place within the academic community. Going forward, I am trying to improve my interview and public speaking skills in order to combat this weakness. Another weakness that I have is that I become distracted easily, while at the same time I am a perfectionist. This leads to a great deal of procrastination and issues with time management. And how these experiences varied by the contribution towards my own wellbeing. I will then evaluate this to make strategies for my future lifelong wellbeing in the future what it should look like. Physical activities and experiences that I paraitcaped in as I grew up I mainly found swim sessions, ball rush, golf and cricket as positive experiences as we did them with my family and younger friends which I really enjoyed doing I found rugby to become a negative experience for me. As in rugby my friends had stopped playing, as I was too small and got smashed from the larger players so I participated in other activities. Rugby is a national sport in New Zealand and I have the assumption of being played by large muscular males and most New Zealand children when growing up. Which in my case is not true as I m more towards the ectomorph body shape which proves the assumption that the bigger mesomorph players tended to be better than I was at the time. A positive of this rugby expericne was that it is a sport that I ve had not family influences to participate in it as many of the sports I do play have, which can be a positive from this experience. • 14. Biography Of Garson Kanin And David Crane And Hands On A... This past week, I had the opportunity to experience a magnificent play called Born Yesterday by Garson Kanin. This performance was the third of three plays I saw at the Arizona Repertory Theatre. The other two plays were Epic Proportions by Larry Coen and David Crane and Hands on a Hardbody by Doug Wright. These were the first plays I have been to, not only while attending the University of Arizona, but in my generation as a teenager. All together, these performances were amazing and have brought a newly improved insight to my perception of theatre. The hard work and dedication by the actors, directors, producers, cast members, and sound developers were absolutely incredible and I have tremendous respect for their efforts during the overall sequence of producing the plays. The most recent performance I saw, Born Yesterday, can be described and reflected on through various topics such as lighting, sound, directing and producing. I decided to arrive a half hour early to witness all the elements of the stage, audience, and theater in order to truly express my thoughts on the external features of the play. The Marroney theatre has 332 seats which were designed like movie theatre chairs. They were manufactured to be a bold red with black carpet surrounding the floor to cover the entire theatre space. For the first thirty minutes before Born Yesterday started, the theatre played classical music to soothe the ears of the audience and create a bridge to a rather quiet prolonged ... Jane is referred to as a ridge of lighted health, alive, glancing, devouring (Wide Sargasso Sea, Chapter 4). Also, in Wide Sargasso Sea, Rochester loves the immense fireflies as he also loves the candles that Antoinette repeatedly puts out around the house. This theme of fire is obvious in two particular cases. One of these cases is when Coulibri is burned and Anette falls into insanity, and the other being when Bertha burns Thornfield down, ultimately killing herself and seriously injuring Rochester (Symbolism in Wide Sargasso Sea). In addition, Rochester, in Wide Sargasso Sea, describes the West Indies as fiery . The novel revolves around this concept pretty often, and it is brought up a numerous amount of times specifically by Grendel. This concept of nihilism can be seen unravelling within Grendel as he gets older. Before we see Grendel experience nihilism, he begins his life with an existentialistic point of view. Grendel lived his life the way he wanted because he could and he did not let anyone else tell him otherwise. • 20. Technology And Science By Law Enforcement The National Institute of Justice defines forensic science as, the application of science, such as physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, and engineering to matters of law, (2014). The emphasis here is the use of technology and science by law enforcement officers and agencies and is accepted and recognized by the criminal justice system. It is seen as scientific technology or Criminalistics, (Dempsey Forst, 2013). While technology plays a role in this, it is most recognized by the use of science by law enforcement and allowing scientific information to be admissible in the court of law. For this reason, forensic science is seen as a method to resolve legal matters or a scientific analysis for the purpose of judicial resolution, (Collins, 2007, p. 2). Weather this is using chemistry, such as a drug testing kit, to determine if a substance is an illegal drug, forensic science has become fundamental to policing. Science and technology can be used and applied in many ways. This can be observed through the various branches of forensic science. These include: forensic biology/DNA, controlled substances, forensic toxicology, forensic anthropology, forensic pathology and medicolegal death investigation, impression and pattern evidence, and trace evidence, (NIJ, 2014). In these ways, law enforcement agencies are able to use science to investigate crimes and practice law enforcement. • 22. Murder Of The American Detective Murders in the Rue Morgue is one of Edgar Allan Poe s more famous literary works. Arguably. Poe may be called the father of the American detective story with his trilogy involving Det. Dupin in Murders in the Rue Morgue, the Purloined Letter, and the Mystery of Marie Roget. Poe uses the peculiar eccentricities of hero Detective C. Augustus Dupin to make these mysteries enthralling to the reader. Dupin is purported to be the forerunner to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s genius detective Sherlock Holmes. Poe created a new genre that captivated the imagination of his readers and paved the way for both English and American authors to write detective stories. Poe gives his Detective Dupin the ability to think outside the box to take in every little detail to solve the problem using the technique of deductive reasoning. Poe describes Detective Dupin of having the capability of processing a certain kind of genius whose mind combines the qualities of the rational or analytic with the fanciful or intuition. The narrator is astounded by Dupin s ability to weed his way through situations with his mysterious usage of observation with only the tiniest of details to bring him to the solution. In the scene of the alleyway, Dupin uses his surroundings as a guide to concur what it is that his faithful friend, the narrator, was thinking about. Poor families resented having their children sent so far away, and eventually the western states complained about what they perceived to be the dumping of thousands of delinquent and needy children each year. The economic shift from an agrarian society to an industrial society reduced the need for child labor on farms and further doomed this movement. Brace s conviction that family life was best for children and youth, however, continues to influence services for children to this day. The first half of the twentieth century brought growing interest in the problem of juvenile delinquency. Investigation done by Dr. William Healy s Juvenile Psychopathic Institute led to the realization that the problem of delinquent children was not limited to the poorest classes. Further, delinquency was increasingly viewed as resulting from numerous factors, with the most prevalent being the lack of parental discipline resulting from the loss of one or both parents. Concurrently, it was becoming increasingly clear that efforts to punish offending youth did not deter future criminal action and that many of the youth who left institutions often returned. As a result, interest shifted to finding ways to treat troubled youth, rather than merely punish them, and led to the creation of the juvenile court system, which separated juvenile and adult offenders and focused on rehabilitation and cure.
