Analyzing The Poem Casey At The Bat
Too much ego can kill your talent. This statement expresses the fact that one s ego can kill our
strengths, skills, and talents. Due to Casey s haughty, stern, and vicious superiority complex, the
Mudville nine lost their game. First, Casey shows his first streak of defiance. In the poem Casey at
the Bat , Casey shows great haughty and strn characteristics which affected her baseballgame. On
the twenty ninth line in the poem it states, Defiance gleamed in Casey s eyes, a sneer curled
Casey s lip . Also on the twenty seventh line in the poem it states, Five thousand applauded when
he wiped them off his shirt . The first piece of evidence shows how Casey was feeling bold and
confident. This show how Casey has a lot of pride and ambition the way the poem uses the word
defiant . The second piece of evidence of evidence from the poem shows how Casey felt like it was
a piece of cake . This shows how Casey has a lot of pride and ambition by the way the poem said
wiped them off his shirt . These quotes from the text shows how Casey has a haughty and stern

Diversity in Three Voices
Diversity in Three Voices Scientist When working with individuals from different cultures,
individuals informally learn the differences that exist between them and their respective cultures
(DeCenzo Silhanek, 2001, p. 29). Often the word diversity is confused with political correctness
or human equality but it is the understanding of differences between people and how they interact.
Diversity is defined as the quality of being different but composed of distinct elements or qualities
(Parvis, 2005, p. 15). Throughout history the United States has been known as the melting pot, but
this concept was a perception not a reality because the melting pot ended up benefiting only white,
prominent settlers. Looking at diversity is observing differences and there are a lot of them. For
example, male versus female, religion versus no religion, homosexual versus heterosexual, foreign
or domestic, republican versus democrat, Caucasian versus African American, Mexican versus
Latino, Cherokee Indian versus Choctaw Indian, poor versus rich; and differences could
encompass several more pages. We can deny that differences exist or we can consent to differences
while discovering from others the assets of dissimilarity. People must learn, therefore, to recognize
differences in others their backgrounds, customs, and work schedules and appreciate, even
celebrate, those differences (DeCenzo Silhanek, 2001, p. 29). Artist When it is blatantly obvious

Frankenstein And A Modern Prometheus
MJ DeMarco, author and entrepreneur, related choices in life to hitting a golf ball. If the club is
rotated even a fraction of a degree when it hits the ball, the ball has a trajectory that diverges
further away from the golf course until it is nearly impossible to get back on track. (Pros) At first
the change is hardly noticeable, but later its consequences are so devastating that its new course is
completely transformed from the course it used to be on. (Pros) Like this situation, DeMarco says
that one bad choicecan set one s trajectory off by only one fraction of a degree today, but in the
future the error is magnified and has monumental consequences. (Pros) What appears to be a good
choice, ends up being a bad choice in the end. This idea connects to two of the main themes in
Frankensteinor A Modern Prometheus: the dangerous pursuit of knowledge and fate versus free will
. The choice to pursue knowledge may be appealing, but it has life threatening consequences, like
fate for instance. In Frankenstein or A Modern Prometheus, Mary Shelley uses the motif of light to
illuminate and connect the themes of fate vs. free will and the dangers of the pursuit of knowledge.
The motif of light establishes a connection with the theme of the pursuit of dangerous knowledge
by forming the concept that light is the way to knowledge. This motif/idea is first introduced in
Walton s first letter when he says, What may not be expected in a country of eternal light? (Shelley

Federalist No. 51 Summary
The Federalist No.51 was published on Feb 6, 1778. The rubric of this writing is The Structure of
the Government Must Furnish the Proper Checks and Balance between the Different Department.
In this article, James Madison insists the U.S should establish a power distribution government,
which divide the government power as legislation branch, executive branch and judiciary branch.
After he propose an idea of government form, he also set forward an ideal that a government
should pursuit forever, protect the freedom of all people in this country and prevent tyranny away
from this country. According to The Federalist No.51 In order to lay a due foundation for that

To prevent the human nature, contaminate the government power, we accept to face the terrible
side of human nature. According to the Federalist No.51 If angels were to govern men, neither
external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government
which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first
enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself. A
dependence on the people is, no doubt, the primary control on the government; but experience
has taught mankind the necessity of auxiliary precautions. Once again, James Madison explains
the importance of check and balance system of republic. Before the corruption and the tyranny
ruin this new land, the auxiliary precautions (separation of powers) has to be establish. Later on
James Madison introduce why American people should establish a separation of power
government. He begins to tell peoples how they actually do that. In the name of freedom, a
government should defend the justice, protect the rights of weak and control the majority group
of this country. This is the primary principle of how a republic government should carry on in
terms of protect the freedoms of everyone. Refer to Federalist No.51 Justice is the end of

Ethics of Penn Square and Dow Corning Essay
Ethics of Penn Square and Dow Corning
Ethics of Penn Square Bank and the Dow Corning Bankruptcy Penn Square Bank: What were the
ethical pressures on the firm concerning documentation, credit extension, and revenue recognition
that lead to the final collapse? What should have been done to reduce or offset these pressures?
Penn Square Bank was a small commercial bank in Oklahoma City which made high risk financial
loans during the late 1970s in the oil boom. The bank ultimately collapsed during the early 1980s
due to their financing practices. The bank was overestimating and valuing its customer s gas and
oil reserves that let at that time to fund a bigger credit line. In addition, the bank didn t request

For offsetting ethical pressures to increase revenue recognition, the Penn Square Bank should have
stuck to FASB principles. The GAAP should have been complied with and this would have helped
avoid revenue recognition problems.
Dow Corning Corporation was founded in 1943 as a jointly owned enterprise by The Dow
Chemical Company and Corning Incorporated to develop the potential of silicone materials. Dow
Corning s principal businesses were silicone materials and polycrystalline silicon.
In the early 1960 s Dow Corning supplied Texas plastic surgeons Frank Gerow and Thomas Cronin
with silicone for their medical implant device research. Gerow and Cronin, using Dow Corning
silicone, invented the first silicone breast implant as a device to aid women who had undergone
mastectomies. At that time, the Food and Drug Administration had no regulations governing
implantable devices. Companies like Dow Corning had to determine the safety of devices on their
own. The surgeons conducted clinical trials of the implant prior to product introduction in 1964. In
the next several years, the implant grew popular for cosmetic surgery as well as reconstructive, and
Dow Corning cornered both markets. Between 1960s and the mid 1990s, about two million women
nationwide have received breast implants, most of them for cosmetic reasons. However, some
women have started to complain that the implants have ruptured, allowing gel to leak into the
breast cavity and migrate to other

Research Paper On Megacity
What is a megacity? A megacity is a densely populated metropolitan area with a total population
exceeding 10 million people. The rise of such densely populated urban areas make for an appealing
community, but with all the fascination and glamour comes many social, economic and
environmental obstacles that can often be difficult to overcome.
An example of such a city is Sao Paulo. Located in the south east region of Brazil, Sao Paulo is the
12th largest city in the world. The city is not densely populated, with a total population of
21,900,000. Sao Paulo was established in 1554 and became an official city in 1711. The city is
involved in many major industries: business, automotive, pharmaceutical, oil, gas and capital
goods are just a few. An industry that Sao Paulo is mostly associated with is business. It is
considered as Latin America s main business centre with the largest number of multinational
offices in the southern hemisphere and one of the largest stock exchanges in the world. About
64% of the working age population (aged 15 and above) is employed, 6% is unemployed and
want to work, while 31% is economically inactive. About half of the working population works
informally, working jobs which are not recognised as normal income sources, and on which taxes
are not paid.
Expansion of the city is due mostly to population growth after the discovery of both gold and
coffee. Gold was discovered at the end of the 17th century and coffee was discovered in the 19th
century.

Analyzing and Exploring the Global City: Sydney
3 July 2015
Research Paper
Throughout the years, people from all over the world have migrated to Australia and the United
States of America to create better lives for themselves such as escaping religious/political
persecution, obtaining a better education, reuniting with their families, becoming exposed to more
job opportunities, and various other reasons (Singer 2). Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in America and
Sydney, New South Wales in Australiahave similar immigration patterns, settlement trends, and
impacts. However, the communities of immigrants tend to not follow the same behaviors in both
cities. Immigration is vital for continuous economic and social growth. Thus, what impact does
immigration have on these two cities?
In 2011, Australia s population was 26% migrants compared to America s, which was only 13% (
4102.0 Australian Social Trends, 2014 ). Migration is essential to Australia s population; in 2011,
over 5 million migrants resided in Australia. Immigrants from England (over 1 million) and New
Zealand (almost half a million) dominate Australia s migrant community. Australia s migrant
population also includes large numbers of Chinese, Indian, Italian, and Vietnamese immigrants
among many others. On average, most migrants stay in Australia for 20 years. Some migrants stay
longer than others; European immigrants stay for over the average amount of years meanwhile

Increase In Rent
In the United States rent has been increased by 52.8 % from 2000 2014 and in a city like
Chicago, the median household has to spend over 31.2% of their income to afford rent according
to a 2014 analysis by Zillow Real Estate Research. These statistics are outrageous high, but not
surprisingly shocking to a lot of people. The reason being is that in many up and coming
neighborhoods throughout Chicago rent has been increased significantly over the years, one of
them being Logan Square. With an increase in rent the gentrified neighborhood has seen a 11.2%
decrease in population since 2000 (Hernandez 1). Numerous of low income families have been
displaced while the neighborhood has been going through development to attract more wealthy and

There are huge number of residents who are being displaced because of the increase in rent, and
the amount of wealthy and upper middle class people moving into a neighborhood like Logan
Square. With the decrease in population, the area has been becoming less and less diverse and
more whitewashed than anything. According to Nacho Gonzalez, a UIC professor, there are many
aspects needed towards creating a gentrification situation, One element is a gentrification industry,
realtors, developers, mortgage lenders, and construction companies eager to capitalize in the area.
The second is a neighborhood with an attractive location preferably a disinvested area with run
down but attractive architecture ripe for rehabbing. The third necessity is a population of low
income people inhabiting the area with little political or economic power to fight for their territory.
Closing the ring are people with disposable income looking to move into the area, usually young,
childless professionals seeking location and action (Gonzalez). Developers and landowners view the
area as a potential investment and not a community or the idea that they might be commercializing

The Role Of Taxes In Ancient Athens
Thousands of years ago, in ancient Athens, the city was relatively a paradise, they had
civilization, they had theater, they had the arts; they also had an absolute flat tax, everyone paid
the exact same tax. If a citizen did not pay the tax, he or she would be sent outside the city which
was likely a death sentence. For the vast majority of people, this taxwas their greatest burden and
caused terrible social problems. For centuries, ancient Athenians explored this issue and discovered
a moral insight; there is no economic gain without civilization. Wealth, whether in the form of
property or a business, cannot exist in a state of anarchy because others can just steal it from the
owner. The moral theory was since an individual could only... Show more content on

Therefore, the specific types of taxation are left up to the congress; ultimately decided by the
citizens. In 1913, the 16th amendment to the Constitution was passed; allowing taxation based on
income. Income taxation eventually became the principal source of revenue for the federal
government. However, there are many types of taxes in use today which include income, sales,
property, estate, inheritance, and excise taxes. Regardless of the type of tax, all of them are used to
fund the government, provide services, and pay interest on the national debt. Taxes can also
encourage or discourage the conduct of citizens or financial institutions. Tax incentives such as
subsidies encourage a business to hire workers and a sin tax can discourage the smoking of tobacco.
Though the necessity of taxation is generally not disputed, several theories and principles exist to
determine what constitutes an effective system of taxation. Economists maintain taxation should
ideally be simple, equitable, and efficient. Three main taxation philosophies exist, regressive
taxation, proportional taxation, and progressive taxation. Regressive taxation places the largest tax
burden on those who earn the least amount of money and less burden weight on those who earn
more. Payroll taxes

Similarities Between The Scottsboro Boys And To Kill A...
The Scottsboro Trials Influence The Scottsboro trial of the 1930 s is still one of the most
famous racial cases today. It impacted the legal system and changed the course of history for
years to come. It has even influenced and inspired literary work such as Tom Robinson s case in
Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird. The similarities between the Scottsboro case and Tom
Robinson s case heavily outweigh the differences. Thus it can be concluded that without the
Scottsboro case To Kill a Mockingbirdwould not have the storyline readers know today. The
Scottsboro trials began on March 25, 1931 in the town of Scottsboro, AL. The case consisted of 9
black boys being accused of raping 2 white women on a train they had been aboard. The boys
accused, later known as the Scottsboro boyswere Olen Montgomery, Clarence Norris, Haywood
Patterson, Ozie Powell, Andy Wright, Roy Wright, Charles Weems, Eugene Williams and Willie
Roberson, ranging in age from 12 to 20. The two white women claiming they were raped were
Victoria Price and Ruby Bates. To Kill a Mockingbird, although written in 1960, takes place in the
1930 s during the Great Depression. The quiet town of Maycomb, in Alabama is disturbed when
Mayella Ewell, a white woman, accuses Tom Robinson, a black man of raping her. The
Scottsboro case is still one of the most famous cases from the Jim Crow era and it is clear that it
influenced Tom Robinson s case. From just the foundations of the two cases it is obvious there
are many parallels between them. The Scottsboro case and Tom Robinson s case both took place
in the 1930 s during the Great Depression. Tom Robinson and the Scottsboro boys are also
accused of the same crime. Although the Scottsboro case involves 9 boys and 2 women and the
other case only includes 1 man and 1 woman it is clear what Harper Lee was trying to represent.
In both cases there was an extreme lack of evidence, Ruby Bates testified that she was beaten and
bruised by the repeated rapes and that she lost consciousness, regaining consciousness only when
she found herself on the way to the Scottsboro jail. In fact, numerous witnesses and the arresting
officers saw her fully conscious when she and the boys were taken off the train. The physician

U.s. Federal Aid Programs
In recent years, the federal aid system has tripled in numbers in over 25 years. Some federal aid
programs can range from a giant billion to a more obscure prams such as $15 million. In the
beginning, federal aid programs would require other states to match the federal funds on a dollar
for dollar basis. There was initial struggle when the federal aid system began to expand many
believe that it would be difficult to opt out of new federal aid programs. Thus, it left residents with
requirement to continue to pay federal taxes in order to support the federal aid spending.
The Florida Department of Children and Families provides services and assistance to a group or to
an individual who may need income, and resources for their families. The Temporary Cash
Assistance program is contingent on determining eligibility for temporary assistance. Yet, due to
the federal and state restrictions does not count such as ineligible noncitizens or suctioned
individuals. It is a Florida law and requirement that state agencies offer detailed budget
recommendations.
The state of Florida has been limited to amount of spending to about $140 million of federal cash.
For example, the federal cash would be reimbursed yearly towards the cost of foster care and
residential group housing. The funds will increase by 3 percent a year and can assist and fund
parenting classes to tutoring for children in care. Therefore, with a five year pilot program, the
funds would be available

own age and stop acting like a little girl. So Peter Pan takes Wendy and her brothers to Neverland so
they never have to grow up. He takes her so she could be a mother to the lost kids in Neverland.
While they are th they have many fun experiences like meeting mystical creatures for example

This is an example of hegemonic feminine ideology because they put out Wendy s mom to be
the typical housewife that agrees with whatever her husband says. This shows how women are
supposed to be submissive and do as they are told by their husbands. But it also shows how
women are suppose be more silent than men and are not meant to speak out what they think and
how women are never in charge. They do this to show that the women always have to support
the men in whatever they are doing. They always have to be one s cheering for them. Society
has the idea of women always having to be the supporters of whatever their men are doing they
have to be right there along them supporting them and cheering them on because according to
society that is the women s job. Later on in the movie Wendy tells Peter Pan it is her last day in
the nursery room because she has to grow up and Peter Pan tells her to go to Neverland where
she doesn t have to grow up but Wendy tells him what would her mother say if she left but she
has to explain to Peter what a mother is since he doesn t know. So she tells him Why, Peter, a

Globalization in Regard to Worldwide Equality
Globalization in regard to worldwide equality Introduction Globalization has changed much
about the way that people perceive the world and it influenced individuals to express less
interest in ideas like nationalism and borders. Even with this, one is likely to observe that these
two concepts can be considered responsible for the deaths of hundreds of millions of people
throughout history, thus meaning that globalization can practically be considered an idea that
directly contradicts nationalism and borders. It is surely difficult to determine whether or not
globalization has had a positive effect on the world, but when looking at matters from the
perspective of developing countries experiencing rapid progress one might be inclined to assume
that it would only be safe for him or her to claim that the process has actually led to greater
global equality. Globalization as a confusing concept Many fail to have a clear understanding of
globalization and what it entails. This is largely owed to the fact that society largely promotes
globalization as a process that is going to overcome hunger, poverty, and deprivation (Munck, 1). In
contrast, other believe that it is actually responsible for many of the problems that the contemporary
social order is experiencing. All things considered, people need to acknowledge that the matter is
very complex and that refrain from thinking that it is not actually problematic to analyze the matter.
This process does not only involve

Iphones Vs. Apple Inc.
With a company as prosperous as Apple, it s no surprise that most people already know quite a
bit about iPhones and Apple s other products. They are constantly shown in movies, music videos,
and even in real life, and my own iPhone 5C is no exception. From its plastic colored backing
designed and advertised specifically for the colorful to the weight of the phone, the iPhone5C took a
different route than Apple s previous generations of smartphones. Compared with the iPhone 5,
5S, and other companies phones released during 2012 and 2013, the 5C gave up Apple s usual
design element of sleekness for individuality by including a colored backing that came in five
colors. These were used to give the customer more a variety than iPhones previously offered.
However, this design choice proven fruitful as the 5C received many positive reviews that
promoted the 5C as not only being individualistic, yet also durable. As an owner of one of these
phones, I can wholeheartedly admit that the 5C is much more durable and also looks just as
stylish as its counterparts. The feel of the backing is smooth and easily able to grip with or
without a case. Despite the weight of the iPhone 5C being 20 grams more than both the iPhone 5
and 5S, I have never noticed a difference when using any of these phones. The phone does not feel
heavy or bulky it feels like a normal smartphone that is user friendly both inside and out. As for the
operating system, iOS is extremely powerful and

Cafe Pownd Case Essay
CafГ© D Pownd Case
INTRODUCTION
CafГ© D Pownd is a campus cafeteria, which serves 450 students and faculty, on the campus at
the National Academy of Liberal Arts. The CafГ© s busiest time is at dinner time, where two
thirds of the residents are expected to be served between 5:00 and 6:30 pm. The cafГ© serves
meals, beverages, salads, desserts sandwiches and other snacks. Most students pay with their
student meal cards. The CafГ© is designed with three waiting lines, L1, L2 and L3. Line one is
for the pre cooked meals, and it provides a menu of its items. L2 is for the interactive cooking
station and the students get to pick what they want to be cooked at that time. L3 is designated for the
payment of meals. They have numerous complaints ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another observation, is the flow of the cafeteria, it seems that most of the lines flow in different
directions causing chaos, people running in to each other, and standing in lines that are not
necessarily the right line they want to be in. The cashier flows in a different direction than the pre
cooked and the interactive cook lines. It looks like residents have to circle back to pay for their
food. Also, the entrance is located in the direction that bumps into the people in the lines. If the
direction flow developed better this could help the wait time and can help residents quickly exit the
cafeteria.
RECOMMENDATIONS
The first recommendation, is that they need to change the direction flow of the cafГ©. They
should switch the exit to the entrance, moving the cashier s stations by the exit. There should be
one express cashier only expecting cash and a regular cashier taking cards. The flow of the lines
can be corrected by partitions, so this isn t crowding at the stations, creating a consistency in wait
time. Please see exhibit A for the updated cafГ© layout. The second recommendation, is that there
is needs to be detail menu choices for the stations. They can order large boards and hang the above
the stations describing the menu options, reducing the questions being asked about the food. The
third recommendation would be to implement a pre order station.

many soldiers died. These poems both about one aspect of the war however they show the war

author tells us similar idea through hyperbole: All the world wondered . This hyperbola

soldiers who fought and died in war. However, Wilfred Owen tells us that war is horrible. The
author described how person was dying in mustard gas how that soldier was drowning in it. Also
Wilfred Owen used simile: Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud . This simile shows that mustard

Social Perceptions Of Csr Line Up With Their Concurrent...
This research has primarily emphasized the importance of CSR to both individuals and the
community at large, but one question remains underexplored: how do consumer perceptions of
CSR line up with their concurrent expectations from the company? The literature shows little
agreement; definitions are murky and left to individualized scholars, and evaluation of company s
efforts, as previously discussed, are difficult to present to major shareholders within a company, to
say nothing of informing consumers. Consumer Perceptions Those who are being served (i.e.

Walther et al. (2010) presented an interesting caveat to this discussion of consumer population
makeup, with consumers both informed and casual responding to cues at the point of sale.
However, this study forms a stopgap towards a truly symbiotic relationship with consumers. As
with major issues in society, a major panacea exists in the form of proper education. A recent
study showed that sound and informative communication channels based in information
stemming from food purchases could effectively induce consumers to consider brands actively
participating in CSR initiative (Devviney et al., 2010). Mohr et al. (2001) executed interviews to
investigate what consumers believe to be the real motives of firms to engage in CSR. Mohr et
al. created four categories of company motives based on the answers of the respondents: (1)

My Dream Journal
One of the best things I ve done in my life is that I ve constantly kept a dream journal. When I
was only 14, I became interested in what dreams meant and ever since then I ve taken my
dreams very seriously. I use my dreams to help me understand what is going on in my life and
what I need to do going forward. If you are not currently keeping a record of your dreams, let me
list the reasons why you should take this dreamjournal challenge and start!
5 Reasons To Keep A Dream Journal
1. Others Can t Interpret Your Dreams For You
Everyone wakes up from time to time and wonders what did that dream mean?
There are different places online you can go to get help to interpret your dreams. For instance, you
can check out Dream Moods, type in ex boyfriend and get a pre written response on what it means
to dream about an ex boyfriend.
Some of the interpretation is pretty good, and I m not saying that it might not be an accurate
interpretation for you. However, there is a good chance that it s not. The dream may not just
about your ex boyfriend (or whatever you dreamt about) and some generic interpretations. In fact,
there may be something else in the dream, such as a place or feeling, that is the real focus of the
dream and why you are having it.
When you keep a dream journal, you can write down all those little parts of the dream that make up
the whole, and as you go over your dream you may find that the dream is more about something
else than what you originally thought.

Business Process Management
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This preliminary report has been compiled by MAK Consultants to tackle the key areas of concern
found within Dynatrix Pty Ltd and proposes potential solutions to the organisation.
The key areas of review for this assessment include:
Strategic and Tactical Planning
Business Process flow and procedures
This document summarizes the methodologies employed to complete the review and presents our
findings and recommendations. Throughout this document we utilize terms such as will, should
consider, and shall, for example, with respect to our recommendations to Dynatrix. We believe each
recommendation should be evaluated and implemented after consideration of approach, cost
effectiveness and the inclusion of new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As such, BPM can be employed as a strategic asset that Dynatrix can use to produce value added
products to customers. Figure 1.1 Benefits of implementing a BPM approach to Dynatrix
Strategy
MAK consultants understand that Dynatrix lacks a clearly defined strategy that drives the
organisation. As such, actions should be taken to outline the goals and objectives of Dynatrix so
every member of the organisation knows exactly what they are working toward namely through a
vision statement . A vision statement encapsulates this idea of the shared values and beliefs held
within Dynatrix that drives the firm to achieve one common goal.
Strategic Positioning
Everything should begin with a corporate strategy. Quality and customer responsiveness are two
value propositions emphasized in Dynatrix s current strategy. Value proposition is the value that a
product or service provides to customers . (Harmon, 2007) In the case of Dynatrix it can potentially
be the accessories of the hand held device, not the hand held device itself which can provide the
platform for their strategic position. Thus Dynatrix needs to develop a positioning strategy to target
customer s needs. Treacy and Wiersema s three generic positioning strategies distinguish between
three value propositions pertaining to customer needs:

Analysis Of Like Water For Chocolate
Based off the novel with the same name by Laura Esquivel, the film Like Water for Chocolate
cleverly uses food in order to not only help viewers get to know its characters but also to convey
their feelings for one another. The film follows the De La Garza family living in their ranch in
Mexico during the Mexican Revolution and centers around Tita, one of the three daughters in the
familywho falls madly in lovewith a young man named Pedro. Continuing an old family tradition
that states the youngest daughter must stay home and take of the mother until she dies, Tita s
mother Elena forbids her from marrying him when he comes to ask for Tita s hand. Elena
convinces Pedro to instead marry Tita s oldest sister Rosaura. It isn t until later that Pedro
reveals to Tita the real reason he chose to marry her sister was so he could remain close to her.
The rest of the film shows how Tita deals with the painful reality of having her love become her
brother in law and how these two fight to stay in one another s life.
Besides her love for Pedro, one other thing is constant in this film and that is Tita s love for cooking
. Learning how to cook from the ranch s elderly maid Nacha from a very early age, Tita becomes
known for her delicious dishes and eventually becomes the head cook of the ranch after Nacha
dies. It s almost as if seems Tita was fated to become a master in the kitchen. One of the very first
scenes of the movie is of Mama Elena giving birth to her on a kitchen table where

Resilience And Positive Adaptation
With the rise of positive psychology, resilience and positive adaptation have become a field of
research in themselves. Resilience has various definitions but is broadly accepted to mean a
dynamic, evolving process of positive attitudes and effective strategies that we employ in response
to life stressors (Jensen, Trollope Kumar, Waters, Everson, 2008). Masten, Best and Garmezy
(1990) defines resilienceas the process of, capacity for, or outcome of successful adaptation despite
challenging or threatening circumstances (p. 425). The American Psychological Association
defines resilience as the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats,
or significant sources of stress such as family and relationship problems, serious health problems or
workplace, and financial stressors (American Psychological Association [APA], 2011).... Show

Amit Sood, M.D., director of research and practice in the Complementary and Integrative
Medicine Program at the Mayo Clinic and an associate professor of medicine at the Mayo Clinic

to engage in burnout and furthermore increases one s predisposition towards stress, providing a
higher possibility of that particular individual to become even worst. An individual would believe
that everything that he or she does is useless, and would experience a sense of disinterest towards

Importance Of The American Education System
Part Four: Importance to the American Education System Students from Arab and Muslim culture
will bring unique and positive qualities to our classrooms that need to be recognized and valued.
Teachers have a strong influence on how comfortable a student will feel in the classroom
community. I believe it is important to create an environment where students feel safe to ask
questions, share their culture, be themselves, believe in what they want to believe, and be
celebrated for their differences as well as similarities. I believe each culture brings forth students
that have a vast array of talents and it is important to know them so that you can teach to those
students accordingly.
An Arab American student might be an amazing storyteller due to Arabic language and
communication styles. They may also be repetitive in their speaking. This is not to be dismissed as
unnecessary, but merely how they learned to communicate. Arab American students can also bring
high levels of respect to the classroom. They will know the customs of standing as someone enters
a room and to not sit with your back facing away from another person. Additionally to their high
level of respect, an Arab American student may hold honor and honesty to a high standard. Another
talent an Arab American student might bring is the knowledge and wisdom that comes from living
with extended family. The student may have several stories of his or her family s history or
wisdom of his or her elders.

The Bible in The Upside Down Kingdom by Donald B. Kraybill...
The book The Upside Down Kingdom by Donald B. Kraybill does an analysis of the bible in a
different approach taken by readers. The main point of the book is to help readers understand
Gods kingdom in a world that is turned upside down. Kraybill shows how upside down and
radical the kingdom was in the first century Palestine and how it is the same in today s society. In
other words Kraybill illustrated the image that people who are at the top of the pyramids, the
wealthy and the powerful, will be at the bottom of the pyramid in Gods kingdom if they are not
humbled towards the poor and hungry. The book also clarifies the importance of practicing
religious principle through the teachings of Christ in relation to the poor and suffering. In... Show

An obsession with possessions enslaves us to the demon of worry. Jesus invites us to change our
priorities, focus on the kingdom, and share with the needy (Kraybill, 2011, p.101). A man s wealth
will be measured by the love, kindness and empathy he has for the poor and the hungry in Gods
kingdom. For this matter Jesus wants the wealthy to humble themselves and receive their
blessing by offering opportunities to the poor instead of being greedy and celebrating their own
wealth. Additionally, chapter six elaborates its main point by exploring the six dangers of
wealth. The six dangers are as followed; beware of the strangler, beware of the worrier, beware
of the blinder, beware of the boss, beware of the damner, and beware of the curse. The first danger,
beware of the strangler, refers to the faith of people and the obstacles around them that could
prevent the faith of God to flourish in their lives. Kraybill furthers this belief by associating the
people with a seed, and the many obstacles that prevent its fruit from thriving. The second danger
address in the book is to beware of the worrier. Kraybill expands on this by letting its readers
know that Jesus does not want us to worry about tomorrow. This is due to the fact that tomorrow
will be filled with its own worries and the worries of today are already a lot to handle. Moreover,
the third danger is to beware of the blinder. The concept is to not let wealth and power blind ones
path and fall astray

Hunger Game Censorship
In Canada, as in other democratic societies, people enjoy freedom of expression and many are
against the practice of censorship. Despite the fact that there is often quite a lot of controversy
when a book is banned or challenged for various reasons, one thing is clear that censorship is
necessary, even if we don t like it. As a matter of fact, controversy around censorshipmore often
arises in a grey area, where arguments can be made and are made either to support or refute
banning a certain book. The Hunger Game, a fiction by Suzanne Collins, is a case that has
aroused a lot of controversy among the public. Its movie adaptation has a (censorship) rating of
PG 13, which could also be taken as an acceptable approach toward the book.

Healthcare Internal And External Factor Analysis
Factors that affect pricing in any organization is desired net income, competitive position, and
market structure. All of these factors are taking into consideration by the organization and it also
affects how the organization can alter their prices and to what point they are expected to manage or
regulate their pricing. Desired Net Income gives the healthcare organizations an initial point for
their short and long term determinations of pricing. All organizations have to product an adequate

Internal factors are establishing prices and marketers ought to take into consideration the
importance and significance of a number of factors which is the outcome of the organizations
choices, results, and actions. These factors are manageable by the organization and they may be
modified, if need be. In spite of this, making a swift transformation is not always the answer or the
quick fix. For example, product pricing is determined or influenced by the productivity of an
industrial facility. The salesperson realizes that rising productivity can decrease of expense of
manufacturing every product and therefore lets the salesperson to possibly reduce the price.
External factors are not managed by the organization but then again it will influence the choices of
pricing. Being able to better comprehend these factors would entail the marketer conduct research
to observe and evaluate everything that is going on in all of the markets that the organization works
for because of the influences of these factors can differ within the market (Factors Affecting Pricing
Decision, 2016). External forces that can impact the organization are unmanageable because the
organization does not manage them however, the organization can still take action and adjust to

Goods and Services Tax A Roadmap for India
Sarkar Subhrangshu Sekhar
Over the years, tax policy in the country has evolved in response to the development strategy and its
changes. In the initial years, the tax policy was directed to increase the level of savings, transfer
available savings for investment as envisaged by plan strategy and the need to ensure a fair
distribution of incomes, to correct inequalities arising from the oligopolistic market structure
created by the co existence of private and public sector and the existence of other instruments of

This shift to GST is expected to significantly improve buoyancy from indirect taxes, owing to the
opportunity it provides for further convergence and moderation of rates and a substantial expansion
in the base which would extend beyond manufacturing all the way to retail. Reforming the tax
system is important for achieving fiscal consolidation, creating instability in the economy and
minimizing distortions in the economy. The wave of tax reforms across the world began in the
mid 1980s and speeded up in the 1990s due to a number of factors. In many developing countries,
tax policy was directed to correct fiscal imbalances. In others, the transition from centralized
planning to market required wide ranging tax reforms to replace public enterprise profits with taxes
as the principal source of revenue. An important reason, however, was internationalization of
economic activities. The sharp reduction in tariffs accompanying globalization required that an
appropriate source of revenue to replace this had to be found. On the other, globalization
emphasized the need to minimize both efficiency and compliance costs of the tax system.

Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka Literary Analysis
In literature, the concepts of alienation and separation are employed to depict the necessity of
personal interaction and social mingling for all humans. In his Metamorphosis, Franz Kafka
attempts to unearth the plausible dangers of social rejection via Gregor s metamorphosis into a
monstrous vermin, which in turn eventually leads to his alienation from not only his family, but also
his past life. Furthermore, to depict the notion of alienation to his audience Kafka utilizes his
vivid development of Gregor s workaholic attitude, Gregor s transformation in to a massive bug,
and the primary emotion of guilt, which Gregor inadvertently faces due to his belief of sacrificing
his life for the betterment of his family. Therefore, Kafka exploits Gregor s alienation to depict his
underlying theme of the novel humans heavy dependence on society not only leads to the loss of
their individuality, but also leads to the loss of their humanity. Prior to Gregor s transformation, he
seemed quite unhappy, concerning his life, as he was alienated by the expectations that were
weighed down on him by the society particularly his family. Consequently, in order to fulfill his
duty he alienates himself from his family by spending a significant amount of time travelling, and
this is evident when... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Imperialism in Europe
During the nineteenth century, imperialism developed and shaped the country of Europe. Europe s
global expansion begun in the fifteenth century, but the it grew rapidly suddenly in the nineteenth
century due to industrialization, creating an exceptionally powerful country. Imperialism is when a
country extends their power into another country or state for it s resources. Europe expansion
mostly took place in Africa. In 1880, Europe ruled about 10% of Africa, but in 1914 they ruled all
of Africa expect Libya. Africa had declining empires, and local wars and slavery had left the
continent weakened, making it easy for Europe to take over. Some of the causes for Imperialism
were due to economic, political and military, society, and science and invention reasons. When
Imperialism occurs, adoption and adaptation also occurs. The idea of the more powerful country is
adopted, but during the process it is also changed. This is seen in Shooting an Elephantby George
Orwell, A Meeting in the Dark by Ngugi wa thiong o, and Water, directed by Deepa Mehta.
Imperialism impacted the characters in the story, and changed their lifestyle. In Shooting an
Elephant, George Orwell had to kill an elephant that was on the loose, destroying the village and
huts. The villagers called for his help, hoping that he would stop the elephant from causing any
more destruction. However, George realized that they wanted him to kill it. He had a tough

her level of nobility and power. She is holding an Incan man s decapitated head with blood still
trickling downward. To the right stands a male dwarf servant waiting on said woman. Lastly, to the

Colonization produces conflicting identities because it is an act in overwhelming one culture with
another. Once a new group has exerted their power and control in a new land, their specific
elements of life begins to spread throughout and eventually into the lives of the indigenous. For
example, when the Spanish established their rule in Peru, slowly but surely, the native Andeans
began to assimilate into their lifestyle. They incorporated Spanish culture into their daily lives such
as utilising the color purple for their traditional uncus. Purple is a color that represents royalty in
Europe. The influence of European ideology, such as Christianity, also played a large role in many
Andean lives for example the Inca Princess depicted in this painting. Because the indigenous were
constantly surrounded by the new Spanish culture, their identities reflected that. They were no
longer purely Andean but humans with integrated cultures and values. In Conflict and Order, D.
Stanley Eitzen writes culture is learned [...] it is not instinctive or innate in the human species [...]
when a person joins a new social organization, she or he must learn the culture of that group .
With no sign of the Spanish conquest departing anytime soon from Peru, the indigenous learns the
culture of the new people whom they must share their land and lives with. They do this, not
because their minds are more susceptible to allowing new ideas shape their identities, but because
they are smart. Eitzen goes on to write when we learn the culture of a society [...] we know the
rules, what is appropriate and inappropriate, what is moral and immoral, and what is beautiful and
what is ugly . The Spanish had control over the Andeans, that is a fact. With control comes power
and thus comes consequences if that power is rebelled against. By letting Spanish culture into their

Heat Fracture on Rocks
Background
Heat fracture is when an increase in volume is observed, due to an increase in temperature. Simply
meaning that while a material is being heated, the rise in temperature causes it to take up more
space. Heat fracture doesn t only deal with high temperatures, it also deals with the effects of
cooling on a material. If cooling occurs then the opposite of expansion occurs as well, the material
will begin to shrink or decrease in size. Continuous heating and cooling will eventually lead to
stress and that makes the material break or fracture. When the material going through this type of

It was believed that if the amount of time that the rock went through heating and cooling
increased, then the weight of the rock would decrease because while the rock goes through more
heating and cooling eventually it will fracture causing the weight to decrease. This is called heat
fracture. The data gathered did prove the hypothesis to be correct. For the longer trials with more
minutes, the rock s weight did decrease more rather than the shorter amount of trials. For example,
the one minute trial barely had a 0.6g difference proving our hypothesis correct, while the 15
minute trial had a significant change in the rock s weight due to the longer time experiment. The
graph seemed to gradually increase according to the longer trials. The only outlier was the last trial
because it had such a small change compared to the other trials, although all trials did support the

Pope Pius XII and the Jews Essay
The twentieth century was marked by genocides on an monstrous scale. One of the most terrible
was the Holocaust wrought by Nazi Germany, which killed an estimated six million European Jews
and almost as many other victims.
During this dark time, the Catholic Church was shepherded by Pope Pius XII, who proved
himself an untiring foe of the Nazis, determined to save as many Jewish lives as he could. Yet
today Pius XII gets almost no credit for his actions before or during the war.
Anti Catholic author Dave Hunt writes, quot; The Vaticanhad no excuse for its Nazi partnership or
for its continued commendation of Hitler on the one hand and its thunderous silence regarding the
Jewish question on the other hand. . . . [The popes] continued ... Show more content on

The Germans were likewise displeased with the reigning pontiff, Pius XI, who showed himself to
be a unrelenting opponent of the new German quot;ideals quot; even writing an entire encyclical,
Mit Brennender Sorge (1937), to condemn them. When Pius XI died in 1939, the Nazis abhorred
the prospect that Pacelli might be elected his successor.
Dr. Joseph Lichten, a Polish Jew who served as a diplomat and later an official of the Jewish
Anti Defamation League of B nai B rith, writes: quot;Pacelli had obviously established his
position clearly, for the Fascist governments of both Italy and Germany spoke out vigorously
against the possibility of his election to succeed Pius XI in March of 1939, though the cardinal
secretary of state had served as papal nuncio in Germany from 1917 to 1929. . . . The day after
his election, the Berlin Morgenpost said: The election of cardinal Pacelli is not accepted with
favor in Germany because he was always opposed to Nazism and practically determined the
policies of the Vatican under his predecessor. quot;[4]
Former Israeli diplomat and now Orthodox Jewish Rabbi Pinchas Lapide states that Pius XI

Philosophy, Interdisciplinary Teaching and Student Experience
ABSTRACT: This paper focuses on novel approaches open to teachers of philosophy in particular,
but more generally also to other university teachers, in the face of what Allan Bloom saw as the
waning of a literary culture. It is argued that, although some of Bloom s suggestions regarding the
successful engagement of students interest against overwhelming odds are didactically valuable, he
neglects precisely those avenues from which students could benefit most on the basis of their own
experience in a world largely devoid of literary attachments but saturated with audiovisual ones.
These options are explored in some detail from various perspectives, including the difference ...

The reason behind this assumption is my belief that, even if Rorty were right that philosophy is
just one voice in the conversation of humankind or one language game among others and even if
it does not occupy a hierarchically superior position in relation to other conversation partners, it
is not one that we could blithely give up whenever we felt like it, as his own continued practice
of it demonstrates. To give up philosophizing would require that we first cease to be self
conscious beings not just conscious beings, but beings conscious of being conscious, or reflective
beings, homo sapiens sapiens. And the day we are no longer such beings, we would no longer be
human, and I could well imagine that philosophy would have no place in a world populated by
such unreflective creatures. Jean Francois Lyotard (1991) has hinted and I agree with him that our
humanity is at present being threatened by an inhuman system of global development, but also that
the resources exist within us to resist the dehumanizing effects of such a system, even if, in the
process, we have to draw on something within us which is inhuman in a different sense: the sense
of that which will always escape the various processes of rationalization (or normalization ,
Foucault would say) typical of an

Gonzalez v. Reno, 212 F.3d 1338 (11th Cir. 2000)
Procedural History:
Plaintiff, Elian Gonzalez, a six year old minor, through his next of friend , Lazaro Gonzalez, filed
an asylum application with the INS (Immigration amp; Naturalization Service), which was denied.

Issue:
Whether a minor child can file for asylum without the consent of a parent or legal guardian?
Rule:
8 U.S.C.A. В§ 1158 (West 2012) states any alien who is physically present in the United Statesor
who arrives in the United States (whether or not at a designated port of arrival and including an
alien who is brought to the United States after having been interdicted in international or United
States waters), irrespective of such alien s status, may apply for asylum in accordance with this
section or, where applicable, section 1225(b) of this title.
Analysis:
The main issues before the Court were two fold. First, could a six year old child apply for
asylum without a parent or legal guardian and secondly, did the INS overstep their authority in
denying the application for asylum. Statute 8 USC В§ 1158 states that any alien could apply for
asylum, however, the INS rejected that a six year old child had the mental capacity to make that
decision for himself. The INS interviewed both the Uncle Lazaro Gonzalez and the father Juan
Gonzalez and determined that the father was the legal guardian, therefore had the right to speak
for Elian Gonzalez. Elian s reasons for seeking asylum were fear of persecution . According to the
uncle, if Elian, were returned to Cuba,

In the novel, Jane Eyre, Bertha Mason is viewed as an inferior because of her status as a white
Creole (European and African American descent) female. Since Bertha is Creole, she is
automatically viewed inferior to someone, such as Jane Eyre or Mr. Rochester, who were both
born in England. When Bertha goes mad, Rochester further others her because he sees her as
responsible for her own situation since she came from a mad family (Bronte 294), with a mother
who was a madwoman and a drunkard (Bronte 294). Similarly, In the Blue Eye/ Brown Eye

An Article On Food Assistance Programs
Before We SNAP Food assistance programs in the United States have always generated a lot of
debate among citizens, congress, and the media. No matter which side of the fence you sit on,
the truth is that this program is designed to help those in need. According to an article in the
Washington Post, Brad Plumer states that there are at least 47 million people who collect
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program aide (Plumer), otherwise known as SNAP, from
the government. These people are collecting this in order to survive; however the United States
government has targeted SNAP in order to cut down on the national debt. Robert Rector
believes that this reform is much needed and should have been done sooner, but Dottie
Rosenbaum argues that this benefit is a necessity in the United States. Many people often think
of the negative side effects of collecting this aid, and how the bad outweighs the good. Robert
Rector is a senior researcher for Heritage.org, and believes that SNAP needs to be reformed for
the good of the nation. Robert Rector also played a vital role in the 1996 welfare reformation
legislation. Throughout his service to his country he has earned the nickname as an intellectual
godfather when it comes to welfare reform. In his article he covers the negative side effects of
being on SNAP, discusses the benefits of reforming the program, and covers the possible outcomes
if it is reformed. He argues that if it is reformed it will adversely affect the dependency

Ann s Responsibility In The Painted Door By Sinclair Ross
Since civilized society was created, the factor that has organized society the most is responsibility.
Responsibility is the bond that ties people with their obligations towards others around them. For
example, responsibility is when someone trusts someone, and in return for that the person behaves
and acts towards this trust. In the short story The Painted Door , Sinclair Ross describes the major
character Ann and shows how her discontent with her life, her betrayal to John and a lack of
communication are the factors that affect her responsibilitytowards her husband John. The first

Pride In Hamlet Essay
The battle between pride, an emotional force of confidence, and fate, a supernatural force that
controls every aspect of humans lives, is ongoing in every human. To live an honorable and
honest life, people must balance their pride and humility, but when pride becomes excessive,
fate begins to assert power on the person until the person meets the inevitable collapse. Thomas
Hardy, in The Return of the Native, and William Shakespeare, in The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince
of Denmark, discuss the controlling power of supernatural forces. In The Return of the Native,
Egdon Heath controls the lives of its inhabitants by exhibiting power over the supernatural force
of fate. Clym Yeobright s excessive pride in his ambitious endeavor causes his blindness which
symbolizes his regression from the advanced society of Paris to the primitive nature of Egdon
Heath. Similarly, Eustacia Vye s pride in what she calls passionate love (Hardy 74) causes her
death as she resists her fate. In William Shakespeare s, The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of
Denmark, Denmark s restrictive powers force Hamlet to face a moral dilemma between pride and
fate which ultimately leads to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clym s literal blindness is an instance of self destruction caused by his intense pride in his
idealistic goal to create a school (Howe 18). To accelerate the creation of the school, Clym reads
in the dark which causes his literal blindness. Although his pride completely blocks his rational
thinking, Clym s figurative blindness gives him insight into the reality of life: fate controls
everything in the world. Even though he understands his position in the world, it is too late for
Clym to repair his mistake of disturbing nature. His blindness forces him to abandon his idealistic
plan and become a furze cutter. Clym s blindness brought on by fate is the first step into his

The Expectation For Duration Of The Rhyme

3.1 Duration
The expectation for duration of the rhyme was that it would be longer in phrase final position.
This is indeed the outcome of the results. In graph 1, one can see the mean duration of the rhyme
and the standard deviations. The standard deviation is larger in the phrase final position, but at
least 75% of the data in the phrase final position is still greater than 75% of the data in phrase
medial position.

It can be seen that the fundamental frequency is indeed lower in the phrase final position than in
the phrase medial position. With the independent samples t test, this gave a result of p = 0.528.
This means that if those samples are unrelated, the chance that a difference of this size would arise
is 52.8%. A significant result would be 5%, so this is not significant. Because there is also an effect
of voicing on the fundamental frequency, the Voice Onset Time(VOT) was measured for all
different consonants preceding the measured vowels(M= 23.78, SD = 40.33). The expectation was
that when the vowel was preceded by a voiceless consonant, the fundamental frequency would rise.
As the VOT is different in English than in Dutch (Mondini, Alphen, Miller, 2002), the distinction
was made between positive and negative values. In this case, the difference of the mean is
significant (independent samples t test, t(60) = 0.021, p 0.05).

Why Is Screen Time Bad
Screen Time is Bad Did you know that screen time is tied with health problems crazy right?
Screen time can also lead to higher levels of overweight and it can leads to shorter attention

can be bad for their grades because at school they will be thinking about games and not be paying
attention to the teacher or they skip doing their homework which can help understand things they
don t pick up from class. Also it can introduce cyber bullying to kids which is bad and may make
them depressed. But the good thing about it is that you can call anyone in case of an emergency or

The media plays a massive role in the politics of the United States today and truly sets the agenda
and makes an extensive impression on public opinion. Through political advertising on the Internet

healthcare, presidency candidates, and many other concerns can be immensely swayed. Many
Americans are not politically intelligent or knowledgeable in current events so one well thought
out advertisement can nudge someone to vote for a particular person or advocate for a certain
issue. Political advertising does not significantly differ from advertising a consumer product such as
Fructis shampoo or Poptarts because both are pushing all the good things about their product/issue

advertisements will promote how bad the opposition is while declaring that their commodity

advertisements and the media manipulate political perspectives, this truly is an insult to the idea of
free elections because as the government through advertising is now shaping Americans beliefs
there are no longer unaltered political views. The people are no longer making their own decisions
but rather having choices placed in front of them. The system of democracy is substantially

Sushi Retraurant Business Plan Essay
Sample Business Plan
This is a sample business plan that I completed by myself for a Entrepreneur class in my Senior
year of high school. Unlike most students, I was really excited to plan and organize my ideas so
my plan ended up being much longer then expected. All the numbers I used were, for the most
part, actual prices and I spend hours alone just number crunching. It was worth it in the end when I
had my final copy! I apologize in advance for awkward spacing, numbering, and indents. Some
things like pictures and flow charts were lost throughout the transfer from Word.

Basically, I imagined walking into a Subway only to find itamae s rolling sushi and steaming rice.
I believe the idea of having carry out sushi will appeal to many customers. Not only does it
alleviate cravings fast, but it is time efficient for people on their lunch breaks or on the run. By not
limiting Shifuku Sushi to take out, I also am allowing customers to lounge around and enjoy their
sushi in a relaxed environment with WiFi capabilities.
The reasoning behind the location, Pittsburgh, PA, simply serves that my father was raised there
and I knew there was a lack of good Japanese restaurants. The location of 400 Woods Street is
perfect because it is right downtown and has easy access.
1.Summary of Experience
While I have never worked in a sushi restaurant, I do have extensive knowledge on sushi and
related foods. As a sushi fanatic, I usually have sushi at least two times a week and love to
explore different restaurants that serve in varying styles. While the popular rotating sushi bar
seems to be quite a hit, I find that the majority of the food is the common Western Sushi like
California Rolls, Salmon Rolls, or Spicy Shrimp Rolls. The more exotic sushi is hard to come by
unless you visit a fancy restaurant. Not only have I had Western Sushi, but I have indulged in
Chirashizushi which is sushi rice with different foods on top like vegetables and sushi such as
Futomaki and Hosomaki. I understand the preparations

The Ethics Of The Sarbanes Oxley Act
Question 1 Throughout history and in our own time, legitimate accounting methods have been
utilized to fraudulently engage in manipulating activities that results in illicit gains to the
perpetrators and losses to individuals and financial institutions. The most common accounting fraud
is the misrepresentation of financial statements which is frequently known as cooking the books
and includes manipulation, falsification, or alteration of accounting records, intentional omission
from the financial statements and intentional misapplication of accounting principles relating to
amounts, classification, manner of presentation, or disclosure. In addition, associated with the
misapplication of accounting methods, the financial industry has been plagued with one disaster
after another involving numerous scandals from top leading American companies. Consequently,
the Sarbanes Oxley Act was passed in 2002 compromising eleven sections that are generated to
insure the responsibilities of the company s managers and executives. This act identifies criminal
penalties for particular unethical practices and currently has new policies that a corporation must
follow in their financial reporting. The following examples describe some of biggest accounting

senior management of public corporations. In the case United States v. Pearson , Exide Technology,

Welfare Reform For Drug Test Recipients Essay
Pretend you are in kindergarten again and you have just won your favorite bag of candy for
behaving yourself in class all week, and right when the teacher presents you with your glorious
prize a fellow classmate, which had already been to the principals twice that week, comes up and
asks for a piece. You do not want to give him a piece because you worked hard for it and he broke
the rules so he does not deserve it, but then he goes to complain to the teacher and she says you
have to share with him. Would you be upset if you worked hard to obey the rules to win a bag of
candy, and then you find out that you could have gotten a piece anyways? This is exactly how
many taxpayers feel about welfare recipients that refuse to take drug test prior to receiving their
welfare checks. Since 1996 there has been a call for welfare reform to drug test recipients prior to
admission, but any attempts have been unsuccessful because they are viewed as a violation of the
fourth amendment, more harmful for children, and an unnecessary expense. These common
fallacies have been the main arguments leading the anti drug testing campaign, but in the past few
years many taxpayers have grown increasingly tired of their money being given to undeserving
individuals, although there has not been a clear solution to please all parties. To begin, what is
welfare? Welfareinfo.org gives the history and current facts about welfare. Welfare is a government

  • 3. Diversity in Three Voices Diversity in Three Voices Scientist When working with individuals from different cultures, individuals informally learn the differences that exist between them and their respective cultures (DeCenzo Silhanek, 2001, p. 29). Often the word diversity is confused with political correctness or human equality but it is the understanding of differences between people and how they interact. Diversity is defined as the quality of being different but composed of distinct elements or qualities (Parvis, 2005, p. 15). Throughout history the United States has been known as the melting pot, but this concept was a perception not a reality because the melting pot ended up benefiting only white, prominent settlers. Looking at diversity is observing differences and there are a lot of them. For example, male versus female, religion versus no religion, homosexual versus heterosexual, foreign or domestic, republican versus democrat, Caucasian versus African American, Mexican versus Latino, Cherokee Indian versus Choctaw Indian, poor versus rich; and differences could encompass several more pages. We can deny that differences exist or we can consent to differences while discovering from others the assets of dissimilarity. People must learn, therefore, to recognize differences in others their backgrounds, customs, and work schedules and appreciate, even celebrate, those differences (DeCenzo Silhanek, 2001, p. 29). • 4. Frankenstein And A Modern Prometheus MJ DeMarco, author and entrepreneur, related choices in life to hitting a golf ball. If the club is rotated even a fraction of a degree when it hits the ball, the ball has a trajectory that diverges further away from the golf course until it is nearly impossible to get back on track. (Pros) At first the change is hardly noticeable, but later its consequences are so devastating that its new course is completely transformed from the course it used to be on. (Pros) Like this situation, DeMarco says that one bad choicecan set one s trajectory off by only one fraction of a degree today, but in the future the error is magnified and has monumental consequences. (Pros) What appears to be a good choice, ends up being a bad choice in the end. This idea connects to two of the main themes in Frankensteinor A Modern Prometheus: the dangerous pursuit of knowledge and fate versus free will . The choice to pursue knowledge may be appealing, but it has life threatening consequences, like fate for instance. In Frankenstein or A Modern Prometheus, Mary Shelley uses the motif of light to illuminate and connect the themes of fate vs. free will and the dangers of the pursuit of knowledge. The motif of light establishes a connection with the theme of the pursuit of dangerous knowledge by forming the concept that light is the way to knowledge. This motif/idea is first introduced in Walton s first letter when he says, What may not be expected in a country of eternal light? (Shelley 11) Walton ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The rubric of this writing is The Structure of the Government Must Furnish the Proper Checks and Balance between the Different Department. In this article, James Madison insists the U.S should establish a power distribution government, which divide the government power as legislation branch, executive branch and judiciary branch. According to the Federalist No.51 If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself. A dependence on the people is, no doubt, the primary control on the government; but experience has taught mankind the necessity of auxiliary precautions. Once again, James Madison explains the importance of check and balance system of republic. Before the corruption and the tyranny ruin this new land, the auxiliary precautions (separation of powers) has to be establish. Later on James Madison introduce why American people should establish a separation of power government. He begins to tell peoples how they actually do that. This is the primary principle of how a republic government should carry on in terms of protect the freedoms of everyone. Refer to Federalist No.51 Justice is the end of government. Ethics of Penn Square and Dow Corning Essay Ethics of Penn Square and Dow Corning Ethics of Penn Square Bank and the Dow Corning Bankruptcy Penn Square Bank: What were the ethical pressures on the firm concerning documentation, credit extension, and revenue recognition that lead to the final collapse? What should have been done to reduce or offset these pressures? Penn Square Bank was a small commercial bank in Oklahoma City which made high risk financial loans during the late 1970s in the oil boom. The GAAP should have been complied with and this would have helped avoid revenue recognition problems. Dow Corning Corporation was founded in 1943 as a jointly owned enterprise by The Dow Chemical Company and Corning Incorporated to develop the potential of silicone materials. Dow Corning s principal businesses were silicone materials and polycrystalline silicon. In the early 1960 s Dow Corning supplied Texas plastic surgeons Frank Gerow and Thomas Cronin with silicone for their medical implant device research. Gerow and Cronin, using Dow Corning silicone, invented the first silicone breast implant as a device to aid women who had undergone mastectomies. At that time, the Food and Drug Administration had no regulations governing implantable devices. Companies like Dow Corning had to determine the safety of devices on their own. The surgeons conducted clinical trials of the implant prior to product introduction in 1964. In the next several years, the implant grew popular for cosmetic surgery as well as reconstructive, and Dow Corning cornered both markets. Between 1960s and the mid 1990s, about two million women nationwide have received breast implants, most of them for cosmetic reasons. However, some women have started to complain that the implants have ruptured, allowing gel to leak into the breast cavity and migrate to other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Research Paper On Megacity What is a megacity? A megacity is a densely populated metropolitan area with a total population exceeding 10 million people. The rise of such densely populated urban areas make for an appealing community, but with all the fascination and glamour comes many social, economic and environmental obstacles that can often be difficult to overcome. An example of such a city is Sao Paulo. Located in the south east region of Brazil, Sao Paulo is the 12th largest city in the world. The city is not densely populated, with a total population of 21,900,000. Sao Paulo was established in 1554 and became an official city in 1711. The city is involved in many major industries: business, automotive, pharmaceutical, oil, gas and capital goods are just a few. An industry that Sao Paulo is mostly associated with is business. It is considered as Latin America s main business centre with the largest number of multinational offices in the southern hemisphere and one of the largest stock exchanges in the world. About 64% of the working age population (aged 15 and above) is employed, 6% is unemployed and want to work, while 31% is economically inactive. About half of the working population works informally, working jobs which are not recognised as normal income sources, and on which taxes are not paid. Expansion of the city is due mostly to population growth after the discovery of both gold and coffee. Gold was discovered at the end of the 17th century and coffee was discovered in the 19th century. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Analyzing And Exploring The Global City Danielle D Amico Julia Miller Analyzing and Exploring the Global City: Sydney 3 July 2015 Research Paper Throughout the years, people from all over the world have migrated to Australia and the United States of America to create better lives for themselves such as escaping religious/political persecution, obtaining a better education, reuniting with their families, becoming exposed to more job opportunities, and various other reasons (Singer 2). Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in America and Sydney, New South Wales in Australiahave similar immigration patterns, settlement trends, and impacts. However, the communities of immigrants tend to not follow the same behaviors in both cities. Immigration is vital for continuous economic and social growth. Thus, what impact does immigration have on these two cities? In 2011, Australia s population was 26% migrants compared to America s, which was only 13% ( 4102.0 Australian Social Trends, 2014 ). Migration is essential to Australia s population; in 2011, over 5 million migrants resided in Australia. Immigrants from England (over 1 million) and New Zealand (almost half a million) dominate Australia s migrant community. Australia s migrant population also includes large numbers of Chinese, Indian, Italian, and Vietnamese immigrants among many others. On average, most migrants stay in Australia for 20 years. Increase In Rent In the United States rent has been increased by 52.8 % from 2000 2014 and in a city like Chicago, the median household has to spend over 31.2% of their income to afford rent according to a 2014 analysis by Zillow Real Estate Research. These statistics are outrageous high, but not surprisingly shocking to a lot of people. The reason being is that in many up and coming neighborhoods throughout Chicago rent has been increased significantly over the years, one of them being Logan Square. With an increase in rent the gentrified neighborhood has seen a 11.2% decrease in population since 2000 (Hernandez 1). There are huge number of residents who are being displaced because of the increase in rent, and the amount of wealthy and upper middle class people moving into a neighborhood like Logan Square. With the decrease in population, the area has been becoming less and less diverse and more whitewashed than anything. According to Nacho Gonzalez, a UIC professor, there are many aspects needed towards creating a gentrification situation, One element is a gentrification industry, realtors, developers, mortgage lenders, and construction companies eager to capitalize in the area. The second is a neighborhood with an attractive location preferably a disinvested area with run down but attractive architecture ripe for rehabbing. The third necessity is a population of low income people inhabiting the area with little political or economic power to fight for their territory. Closing the ring are people with disposable income looking to move into the area, usually young, childless professionals seeking location and action (Gonzalez). Developers and landowners view the area as a potential investment and not a community or the idea that they might be commercializing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Role Of Taxes In Ancient Athens Thousands of years ago, in ancient Athens, the city was relatively a paradise, they had civilization, they had theater, they had the arts; they also had an absolute flat tax, everyone paid the exact same tax. If a citizen did not pay the tax, he or she would be sent outside the city which was likely a death sentence. For the vast majority of people, this taxwas their greatest burden and caused terrible social problems. For centuries, ancient Athenians explored this issue and discovered a moral insight; there is no economic gain without civilization. Wealth, whether in the form of property or a business, cannot exist in a state of anarchy because others can just steal it from the owner. The moral theory was since an individual could only... In 1913, the 16th amendment to the Constitution was passed; allowing taxation based on income. Income taxation eventually became the principal source of revenue for the federal government. However, there are many types of taxes in use today which include income, sales, property, estate, inheritance, and excise taxes. Regardless of the type of tax, all of them are used to fund the government, provide services, and pay interest on the national debt. Taxes can also encourage or discourage the conduct of citizens or financial institutions. Tax incentives such as subsidies encourage a business to hire workers and a sin tax can discourage the smoking of tobacco. Though the necessity of taxation is generally not disputed, several theories and principles exist to determine what constitutes an effective system of taxation. Economists maintain taxation should ideally be simple, equitable, and efficient. Three main taxation philosophies exist, regressive taxation, proportional taxation, and progressive taxation. It impacted the legal system and changed the course of history for years to come. It has even influenced and inspired literary work such as Tom Robinson s case in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird. The similarities between the Scottsboro case and Tom Robinson s case heavily outweigh the differences. Thus it can be concluded that without the Scottsboro case To Kill a Mockingbirdwould not have the storyline readers know today. The Scottsboro trials began on March 25, 1931 in the town of Scottsboro, AL. The case consisted of 9 black boys being accused of raping 2 white women on a train they had been aboard. The boys accused, later known as the Scottsboro boyswere Olen Montgomery, Clarence Norris, Haywood Patterson, Ozie Powell, Andy Wright, Roy Wright, Charles Weems, Eugene Williams and Willie Roberson, ranging in age from 12 to 20. The two white women claiming they were raped were Victoria Price and Ruby Bates. To Kill a Mockingbird, although written in 1960, takes place in the 1930 s during the Great Depression. The quiet town of Maycomb, in Alabama is disturbed when Mayella Ewell, a white woman, accuses Tom Robinson, a black man of raping her. The Scottsboro case is still one of the most famous cases from the Jim Crow era and it is clear that it influenced Tom Robinson s case. From just the foundations of the two cases it is obvious there are many parallels between them. The Scottsboro case and Tom Robinson s case both took place in the 1930 s during the Great Depression. Tom Robinson and the Scottsboro boys are also accused of the same crime. Although the Scottsboro case involves 9 boys and 2 women and the other case only includes 1 man and 1 woman it is clear what Harper Lee was trying to represent. In both cases there was an extreme lack of evidence, Ruby Bates testified that she was beaten and bruised by the repeated rapes and that she lost consciousness, regaining consciousness only when she found herself on the way to the Scottsboro jail. In fact, numerous witnesses and the arresting officers saw her fully conscious when she and the boys were taken off the train. The physician ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. U.s. Federal Aid Programs In recent years, the federal aid system has tripled in numbers in over 25 years. Some federal aid programs can range from a giant billion to a more obscure prams such as $15 million. In the beginning, federal aid programs would require other states to match the federal funds on a dollar for dollar basis. There was initial struggle when the federal aid system began to expand many believe that it would be difficult to opt out of new federal aid programs. Thus, it left residents with requirement to continue to pay federal taxes in order to support the federal aid spending. The Florida Department of Children and Families provides services and assistance to a group or to an individual who may need income, and resources for their families. The Temporary Cash Assistance program is contingent on determining eligibility for temporary assistance. Yet, due to the federal and state restrictions does not count such as ineligible noncitizens or suctioned individuals. It is a Florida law and requirement that state agencies offer detailed budget recommendations. The state of Florida has been limited to amount of spending to about $140 million of federal cash. For example, the federal cash would be reimbursed yearly towards the cost of foster care and residential group housing. The funds will increase by 3 percent a year and can assist and fund parenting classes to tutoring for children in care. Therefore, with a five year pilot program, the funds would be available ... • 14. Globalization in Regard to Worldwide Equality Globalization in regard to worldwide equality Introduction Globalization has changed much about the way that people perceive the world and it influenced individuals to express less interest in ideas like nationalism and borders. Even with this, one is likely to observe that these two concepts can be considered responsible for the deaths of hundreds of millions of people throughout history, thus meaning that globalization can practically be considered an idea that directly contradicts nationalism and borders. It is surely difficult to determine whether or not globalization has had a positive effect on the world, but when looking at matters from the perspective of developing countries experiencing rapid progress one might be inclined to assume that it would only be safe for him or her to claim that the process has actually led to greater global equality. Globalization as a confusing concept Many fail to have a clear understanding of globalization and what it entails. This is largely owed to the fact that society largely promotes globalization as a process that is going to overcome hunger, poverty, and deprivation (Munck, 1). In contrast, other believe that it is actually responsible for many of the problems that the contemporary social order is experiencing. All things considered, people need to acknowledge that the matter is very complex and that refrain from thinking that it is not actually problematic to analyze the matter. They are constantly shown in movies, music videos, and even in real life, and my own iPhone 5C is no exception. From its plastic colored backing designed and advertised specifically for the colorful to the weight of the phone, the iPhone5C took a different route than Apple s previous generations of smartphones. Compared with the iPhone 5, 5S, and other companies phones released during 2012 and 2013, the 5C gave up Apple s usual design element of sleekness for individuality by including a colored backing that came in five colors. These were used to give the customer more a variety than iPhones previously offered. However, this design choice proven fruitful as the 5C received many positive reviews that promoted the 5C as not only being individualistic, yet also durable. As an owner of one of these phones, I can wholeheartedly admit that the 5C is much more durable and also looks just as stylish as its counterparts. The feel of the backing is smooth and easily able to grip with or without a case. Despite the weight of the iPhone 5C being 20 grams more than both the iPhone 5 and 5S, I have never noticed a difference when using any of these phones. The phone does not feel heavy or bulky it feels like a normal smartphone that is user friendly both inside and out. As for the operating system, iOS is extremely powerful and ... The cashier flows in a different direction than the pre cooked and the interactive cook lines. It looks like residents have to circle back to pay for their food. Also, the entrance is located in the direction that bumps into the people in the lines. If the direction flow developed better this could help the wait time and can help residents quickly exit the cafeteria. RECOMMENDATIONS The first recommendation, is that they need to change the direction flow of the cafГ©. They should switch the exit to the entrance, moving the cashier s stations by the exit. There should be one express cashier only expecting cash and a regular cashier taking cards. The flow of the lines can be corrected by partitions, so this isn t crowding at the stations, creating a consistency in wait time. Please see exhibit A for the updated cafГ© layout. The second recommendation, is that there is needs to be detail menu choices for the stations. They can order large boards and hang the above the stations describing the menu options, reducing the questions being asked about the food. The main point of the book is to help readers understand Gods kingdom in a world that is turned upside down. Kraybill shows how upside down and radical the kingdom was in the first century Palestine and how it is the same in today s society. In other words Kraybill illustrated the image that people who are at the top of the pyramids, the wealthy and the powerful, will be at the bottom of the pyramid in Gods kingdom if they are not humbled towards the poor and hungry. An obsession with possessions enslaves us to the demon of worry. Jesus invites us to change our priorities, focus on the kingdom, and share with the needy (Kraybill, 2011, p.101). A man s wealth will be measured by the love, kindness and empathy he has for the poor and the hungry in Gods kingdom. For this matter Jesus wants the wealthy to humble themselves and receive their blessing by offering opportunities to the poor instead of being greedy and celebrating their own wealth. Additionally, chapter six elaborates its main point by exploring the six dangers of wealth. The six dangers are as followed; beware of the strangler, beware of the worrier, beware of the blinder, beware of the boss, beware of the damner, and beware of the curse. The first danger, beware of the strangler, refers to the faith of people and the obstacles around them that could prevent the faith of God to flourish in their lives. Kraybill furthers this belief by associating the people with a seed, and the many obstacles that prevent its fruit from thriving. The second danger address in the book is to beware of the worrier. Kraybill expands on this by letting its readers know that Jesus does not want us to worry about tomorrow. This is due to the fact that tomorrow will be filled with its own worries and the worries of today are already a lot to handle. Moreover, the third danger is to beware of the blinder. In the initial years, the tax policy was directed to increase the level of savings, transfer available savings for investment as envisaged by plan strategy and the need to ensure a fair distribution of incomes, to correct inequalities arising from the oligopolistic market structure created by the co existence of private and public sector and the existence of other instruments of planning such as licensing system, exchange control, administered price ... This shift to GST is expected to significantly improve buoyancy from indirect taxes, owing to the opportunity it provides for further convergence and moderation of rates and a substantial expansion in the base which would extend beyond manufacturing all the way to retail. Reforming the tax system is important for achieving fiscal consolidation, creating instability in the economy and minimizing distortions in the economy. The wave of tax reforms across the world began in the mid 1980s and speeded up in the 1990s due to a number of factors. In many developing countries, tax policy was directed to correct fiscal imbalances. In others, the transition from centralized planning to market required wide ranging tax reforms to replace public enterprise profits with taxes as the principal source of revenue. An important reason, however, was internationalization of economic activities. The sharp reduction in tariffs accompanying globalization required that an appropriate source of revenue to replace this had to be found. On the other, globalization emphasized the need to minimize both efficiency and compliance costs of the tax system. • 32. Metamorphosis By Franz Kafka Literary Analysis In literature, the concepts of alienation and separation are employed to depict the necessity of personal interaction and social mingling for all humans. In his Metamorphosis, Franz Kafka attempts to unearth the plausible dangers of social rejection via Gregor s metamorphosis into a monstrous vermin, which in turn eventually leads to his alienation from not only his family, but also his past life. Furthermore, to depict the notion of alienation to his audience Kafka utilizes his vivid development of Gregor s workaholic attitude, Gregor s transformation in to a massive bug, and the primary emotion of guilt, which Gregor inadvertently faces due to his belief of sacrificing his life for the betterment of his family. Therefore, Kafka exploits Gregor s alienation to depict his underlying theme of the novel humans heavy dependence on society not only leads to the loss of their individuality, but also leads to the loss of their humanity. Prior to Gregor s transformation, he seemed quite unhappy, concerning his life, as he was alienated by the expectations that were weighed down on him by the society particularly his family. Europe s global expansion begun in the fifteenth century, but the it grew rapidly suddenly in the nineteenth century due to industrialization, creating an exceptionally powerful country. Imperialism is when a country extends their power into another country or state for it s resources. Europe expansion mostly took place in Africa. In 1880, Europe ruled about 10% of Africa, but in 1914 they ruled all of Africa expect Libya. Africa had declining empires, and local wars and slavery had left the continent weakened, making it easy for Europe to take over. Some of the causes for Imperialism were due to economic, political and military, society, and science and invention reasons. When Imperialism occurs, adoption and adaptation also occurs. The idea of the more powerful country is adopted, but during the process it is also changed. This is seen in Shooting an Elephantby George Orwell, A Meeting in the Dark by Ngugi wa thiong o, and Water, directed by Deepa Mehta. Imperialism impacted the characters in the story, and changed their lifestyle. In Shooting an Elephant, George Orwell had to kill an elephant that was on the loose, destroying the village and huts. Colonization produces conflicting identities because it is an act in overwhelming one culture with another. Once a new group has exerted their power and control in a new land, their specific elements of life begins to spread throughout and eventually into the lives of the indigenous. For example, when the Spanish established their rule in Peru, slowly but surely, the native Andeans began to assimilate into their lifestyle. They incorporated Spanish culture into their daily lives such as utilising the color purple for their traditional uncus. Purple is a color that represents royalty in Europe. The influence of European ideology, such as Christianity, also played a large role in many Andean lives for example the Inca Princess depicted in this painting. Because the indigenous were constantly surrounded by the new Spanish culture, their identities reflected that. They were no longer purely Andean but humans with integrated cultures and values. In Conflict and Order, D. Stanley Eitzen writes culture is learned [...] it is not instinctive or innate in the human species [...] when a person joins a new social organization, she or he must learn the culture of that group . With no sign of the Spanish conquest departing anytime soon from Peru, the indigenous learns the culture of the new people whom they must share their land and lives with. They do this, not because their minds are more susceptible to allowing new ideas shape their identities, but because they are smart. Eitzen goes on to write when we learn the culture of a society [...] we know the rules, what is appropriate and inappropriate, what is moral and immoral, and what is beautiful and what is ugly . The Spanish had control over the Andeans, that is a fact. With control comes power and thus comes consequences if that power is rebelled against. By letting Spanish culture into their lives, the ... If cooling occurs then the opposite of expansion occurs as well, the material will begin to shrink or decrease in size. Philosophy, Interdisciplinary Teaching and Student Experience ABSTRACT: This paper focuses on novel approaches open to teachers of philosophy in particular, but more generally also to other university teachers, in the face of what Allan Bloom saw as the waning of a literary culture. It is argued that, although some of Bloom s suggestions regarding the successful engagement of students interest against overwhelming odds are didactically valuable, he neglects precisely those avenues from which students could benefit most on the basis of their own experience in a world largely devoid of literary attachments but saturated with audiovisual ones. These options are explored in some detail from various perspectives, including the difference ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason behind this assumption is my belief that, even if Rorty were right that philosophy is just one voice in the conversation of humankind or one language game among others and even if it does not occupy a hierarchically superior position in relation to other conversation partners, it is not one that we could blithely give up whenever we felt like it, as his own continued practice of it demonstrates. To give up philosophizing would require that we first cease to be self conscious beings not just conscious beings, but beings conscious of being conscious, or reflective beings, homo sapiens sapiens. And the day we are no longer such beings, we would no longer be human, and I could well imagine that philosophy would have no place in a world populated by such unreflective creatures. Jean Francois Lyotard (1991) has hinted and I agree with him that our humanity is at present being threatened by an inhuman system of global development, but also that the resources exist within us to resist the dehumanizing effects of such a system, even if, in the process, we have to draw on something within us which is inhuman in a different sense: the sense of that which will always escape the various processes of rationalization (or normalization , Foucault would say) typical of an ... A significant result would be 5%, so this is not significant. Because there is also an effect of voicing on the fundamental frequency, the Voice Onset Time(VOT) was measured for all different consonants preceding the measured vowels(M= 23.78, SD = 40.33). The media plays a massive role in the politics of the United States today and truly sets the agenda and makes an extensive impression on public opinion. Through political advertising on the Internet and television along with numerous other outlets, the opinions of citizens on issues such as healthcare, presidency candidates, and many other concerns can be immensely swayed. Many Americans are not politically intelligent or knowledgeable in current events so one well thought out advertisement can nudge someone to vote for a particular person or advocate for a certain issue. All the numbers I used were, for the most part, actual prices and I spend hours alone just number crunching. It was worth it in the end when I had my final copy! I apologize in advance for awkward spacing, numbering, and indents. Some things like pictures and flow charts were lost throughout the transfer from Word. By not limiting Shifuku Sushi to take out, I also am allowing customers to lounge around and enjoy their sushi in a relaxed environment with WiFi capabilities. The reasoning behind the location, Pittsburgh, PA, simply serves that my father was raised there and I knew there was a lack of good Japanese restaurants. The location of 400 Woods Street is perfect because it is right downtown and has easy access. 1.Summary of Experience While I have never worked in a sushi restaurant, I do have extensive knowledge on sushi and related foods. As a sushi fanatic, I usually have sushi at least two times a week and love to explore different restaurants that serve in varying styles. While the popular rotating sushi bar seems to be quite a hit, I find that the majority of the food is the common Western Sushi like California Rolls, Salmon Rolls, or Spicy Shrimp Rolls. The more exotic sushi is hard to come by unless you visit a fancy restaurant. Not only have I had Western Sushi, but I have indulged in Chirashizushi which is sushi rice with different foods on top like vegetables and sushi such as Futomaki and Hosomaki. You do not want to give him a piece because you worked hard for it and he broke the rules so he does not deserve it, but then he goes to complain to the teacher and she says you have to share with him. Would you be upset if you worked hard to obey the rules to win a bag of candy, and then you find out that you could have gotten a piece anyways? This is exactly how many taxpayers feel about welfare recipients that refuse to take drug test prior to receiving their welfare checks.
