Diversity Efforts
To increase diversity, employers are permitted to consider race or gender as a factor in selecting
employees. Race differences in the workplace force diversification. I personally think that it is
necessary. I would never think to hire or not hire someone, because of skin color or race differences.
Hiring or not hiring someone, because they have a different skin color is just as wrong. However,
because discrimination has occurred, history has created the need for laws to protect working class
citizens. Breaking into classifications by race or gender is now common in the U.S. In making
employment decisions, I do think that there are ethical factors that create exceptions to the rule. In
particular, gender considerations playing an active ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Petitioners, white and Hispanic firefighters who passed the exams, but denied a chance at promotions
by the City s refusal to certify the test results, sued the City and respondent officials, alleging that
discarding the test results discriminated against them, based on their race in violation of, inter Alia,

they could have faced Title VII liability for adopting a practice having a disparate impact on minority
firefighters. The District Court granted summary judgment for the defendants and the Second Circuit
affirmed. ( Rici vs. DeStefano, 2009) . On November 24, 2009, all fourteen firefighters received their

Sustainable Design Of Green Logistics Management
Sustainable Design of Green Logistics Management in China
Based on sustainable development of green logistics in China and the countermeasures (2007), China
is especially vulnerable to climate change due to its complex climatic conditions, a fragile ecological
environment, a massive population and frequent natural disasters. Insufficient per ca pita resources
and very sharp contradictions between development and environment force China to further develop a
cycling economy. Green logistics is an important tool for sustainable development.
However, logistics in China is in its infant period. Hence, there are some problems, for example,
immediate economic benefits to the enterprise and ecological and social benefits faced, which results
in negative environmental issues in China. It is worth noting that there is a need for the sustainable
logistics system ,inhibiting cause harmful to the environment while forming a modern logistics system
that can promote economic. There must be a combination of sustainable development and logistics
applying the principles of sustainability in green logistics. Nevertheless, there are still many people
who are not aware of green logistics and even suspect the necessity of establishment of green logistics.
This essay aims to introduce the basic theory of green logistics in China, analysis of the development
situation of green logistics in China, countermeasures, suggestions for implementation of green
logistics in China as well as the future of

The Pathophysiology Of Postpartum Preeclampsia
Preeclampsia is the new onset of hypertension and either proteinuria or end organ dysfunction after 20
weeks of gestation in a previously normotensive woman. Although most women develop signs of the
preeclampsia in late pregnancy with gradual worsening until delivery, a few studies have reported
delayed or new onset postpartum preeclampsia in patients with no antecedent diagnosis of
hypertensive disease in the current pregnancy (). Postpartum preeclampsia is defined as the presence
of hypertension and proteinuria, occurring up to 4 6 weeks after delivery (yancey, filetti). While the
pathophysiology of preeclampsia involves abnormal placental vasculature and altered maternal
systemic endothelial function (gilbert, beckmann), postpartum preeclampsia

Indonesia Globalization
Intro: Indonesia is the sixteenth largest economy, the largest economy in the South east Asian
economic region with the world s fourth largest population (263 million in 2017). It is an emerging
economy that has increased its international integration, trade liberalisation and diverted from policies
of import substitution towards export led development. Indonesia is a member of the Group of 20
(G20) major economies and has been an active founding member of the World Trade Organisation
(WTO). The impact of globalisation has benefited Indonesia as quality of life indicators and economic
developments have improved but it also presents the challenge of improving regulations, building
more competitive industries, increasing investment into education and infrastructure to remain
competitive. Consequently, Indonesia has introduced numerous strategies to promote economic
growth and development. Body 1 (Impact of Globalisation policies on trade) Globalisation as a
catalyst for increased trade has led to Indonesia adopting policies targeting economic growth and
development. Indonesia represents 0.8% of global trade value which has grown 240 times larger in
2016 compared to 1967. Globalisation has increased international demand for Indonesian goods and
services as their top trade partners are China, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia and South Korea. As a
result, Indonesia has joined the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Free Trade Area
(AFTA agreement) in 1992 to reduce

Threat of New Entrants The threat of new entrants is moderate. It is relatively easy for a company to
enter this market because there are not a lot of legal barriers. But a smaller company that has just
entered the market would have a tougher time competing with some of the larger companies an
obvious reason being that larger companies can have larger inventories. Another reason is that larger
companies can do things to weaken the smaller companies, such as offer discounts, sales promotions,
and increase spending on advertising. Since most of the companies in this industry are competing on

Innovation is probably the most important driver of change in most industries, especially ones that are
saturated. Dick s continuous innovation has helped them be one of the leaders in the sporting goods
industry for over a decade.
Their retail stores are far superior to their competition in size and appearance.
You get the feel of a Bass Pro Shops when walking through the tall wooden doors, entering into a
spacious two story building.
Most other sporting goods retailers stores such as Academy Sports have the feel of a decorated
warehouse are do not provide the customer with an exciting experience.
Some of the Dick s stores even have an indoor rock climbing wall for anyone who is up to the
challenge for only a small fee. This unique feature just adds another element to the store whether you
climb the wall or not.
Dick s has a rewards program, called ScoreCard rewards.
Customers get one point for every dollar they spend. Once a customer gets 300 points they get $10 off
their next purchase.
This type of rewards system is getting more and more common because retailers are trying to gain
customer loyalty by offering them incentives to come back and shop. They also have to stay up to date
on the new innovation within the sporting goods products and apparel that they carry.
New products come out that are hot sellers and new to the market and Dick s has to try and get that
particular item in their store.

Edward Bellamy Looking Backward
Looking Backward
The book Looking Backward was written by Edward Bellamy and published in the year 1888.
Bellamy started off his career as a journalist but then married and decided to devote his efforts to
writing fiction novels. Looking Backward was published and Bellamy was famous. The book stirred
around the country and had people imagining a world like the one Bellamy created in his book. The
idea of a utopia as the one he describes is unbelievable. His book is what people, of even now in the
twenty first century, wish the world could possible be like. However, Bellamy s world of reasoning
and judging of people based on the inner beliefs was not what people of then or now do. Bellamy s
book showed a world of rationality being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mr. West is surprised by how the society has turned out and the kindness he received from a complete

vast improvements among the half a century he has been asleep. Here Bellamy begins to describe the
utopia world that he has created. Julian is amazed to hear how the society is equally prosperous and is
worried and the society values common good among the society than who has the most power. Within
the next few chapters Dr. Leete and Julian stay up to talk and answer questions that he may have. In
these chapters Bellamy is using a comparison of the Julian s old world to the utopia that he has just
entered and what Bellamy is creating as reader s continue with the story. Bellamy continues to explain
further details of this utopia. For one Bellamy explains how each makes the money equally within the
state and than how the money is given to the state to be equally distributed. Continuing on Bellamy
describes a little how the society and state was run back in the ninetieth century. He talks about man s
place in the work field and all the other responsibility that they carry out. Bellamy writes about each
world a little at a time in order for the reader to distinguish the differences of the ninetieth century and
the twentieth century. As the chapters progress and the story of the unimaginable world continues

Young Girl Named Scout By Harper Lee
In the past, it has been evident that the population of the Southern states had been composed of many
different social classes, particularly in the 1930s. In her novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee
clearly depicts these social classes and illustrates how diverse they make the population of Maycomb,
a fictional town where the story takes place. The main character, a young girl named Scout, does not
fully understand the concept of these different social classes and often fails to recognize which one she
belongs to. As the story progresses, it becomes known to the reader that Scout is part of the highest
social class in Maycomb. However, because of the conditions she is raised in, she does not fit in with a
certain group of women that this class is mainly composed of: the Southern belles. Throughout the
story, it is evident that some Maycomb women possess the traits of a Southern Belle persona, such as
while Scout does not, due to the fact that she grows up without a mother.
The term Southern belle refers to a wealthy but well mannered young woman, often characterized by
her chaste demeanor and submissive attitude, who tries to reach perfection in almost every aspect of
her life. Some of the most important elements to being a Southern belle include grace, manners,
breeding, etiquette, and demure behavior. A Southern belle should always be polite and gentle to the
people around her and have the capability to make them feel at ease with her friendliness and
composure.

Data Mining Information About Data
Abstract Data Mining extracts useful information about data. In other words, Data Mining extracts the
knowledge or interesting information from large set of structured data that are from different sources.
Data mining applications are used in a range of areas such as it is used for financial data analysis,
retail and telecommunication industries, banking, health care and medicine. In health care, the data
mining is mainly used for disease prediction. In data mining, there are several techniques have been
developed and used for predicting the diseases that includes data preprocessing, classification,
clustering, association rules and sequential patterns. This paper analyses the performance of two
classification techniques such as Bayesian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The medical data processing has the high potential in medical domain for extracting the hidden
patterns within the dataset [15]. These patterns are used for clinical diagnosis and prognosis. The
medical data are generally distributed, heterogeneous and voluminous in nature. An important
problem in medical analysis is to achieve the correct diagnosis of certain important information. This
paper describes classification algorithms and it is used to analyze the performance of these algorithms.
The accuracy measures are True Positive (TP) rate, F Measure, Receiver Operating Characteristics
(ROC) area and Kappa Statistics. The error measures are Mean Absolute Error (M.A.E), Root Mean
Squared Error (R.M.S.E), Relative Absolute Error (R.A.E) and Relative Root Squared Error (R.R.S.E)
[5]. Section 2 explains the literature review; Section 3 describes the classification algorithms.
Experimental results are analyzed in section 4 and section 5 illustrates the conclusion of this paper.
II. LITERATURE REVIEW Dr. S.Vijayarani et al., [11] determined the performance of various
classification techniques in data mining for predicting the heart disease from the heart disease dataset.
The classification algorithms is used and tested in this work. The performance factors evaluate the
efficiency of algorithms, clustering accuracy and error rate. The result illustrates LOGISTICS

Sterling Malory Archer is the main character in FX s cartoon series Archer. Archer s personality is
mainly shaped around his childhood. He is a smooth, insensitive, borderline narcissistic, spy that
works for his mother. Archer was a lonely a child and didn t get a lot of attention from his mom, and
he didn t know who his father was till later on in the show. Karen Horney s view on personality shows
best for an assessment for Archer. I will be assessing Archer s personality using a psychodynamic

days, she would go horseback riding with her father, while others were spent making new clothes with
her mother. Clara didn t relish her newly found freedom, in fact, she had no desire to embark on
adventures with her playmates; instead, she felt as though her time was wasted and often became
anxious to find an occupation.

Exercises to Alleviate a Separated Rectus Essays
Although common in postpartum women, a separated rectus, also known as diastasis recti, can also
occur in obese individuals and in children up to 2 years of age. (See References 1, p. 337) This
condition occurs when there s a separation between the right and left side of the rectus abdominis
muscle. This can trigger pelvic and back pain, and make it hard to stabilize the trunk. (See References
2) Although it can correct itself, targeted exercise can lend a helping hand.
Things to Consider
Abdominal exercise, such as traditional crunches and situps, aren t going to correct a separated rectus.

The hip lift, sometimes also referred to as the bridge exercise, is also done while lying on the floor on

starts in a similar manner; you draw your navel to your spine and engage your glutes. Instead of
staying on the floor, you raise your hips and back until your body forms a straight line from your
knees to your shoulders. Hold the contraction for up to five seconds, and then lower back down to the
starting point. Repeat this motion 10 times, up to three times a day. (See References 3, p. 65)

The Murder Case Of Stanford White
In the early 1900s, the murder case of Stanford White would shock the world and would soon be
named the crime of the Century. Stanford White was an up and coming architect during the late 1800

company with other architects. One of his many accomplishments was the building of the Madison
Square Garden Tower in 1890. Meanwhile in Philadelphia, 14 year old Florence (a.k.a. Evelyn) Nesbit

railroad man known as Harry Thaw. Thaw and White were already rivals so as a way to get back at
White he began to pursuing Evelyn by showering her with gifts and money. He proposed to Evelyn
multiple times but was rejected because she had been warned by Stanford, of Thaw s mental
conditions and of his drug abuse. Another factor causing her to neglect his proposals was she wouldn t
marry him without confessing her past affair. After Evelyn recovered from a surgery that some
believed as an abortion surgery in 1902, Harry invited Mrs. Nesbit and Evelyn on a trip across Europe.
Halfway through the trip, Mrs. Nesbit returns back to the U.S., leaving Harry and Evelyn alone in

Margaret Sanger And The Comstock Act Of 1873
Margaret Sanger and the Comstock Act of 1873 Rough Draft
The U.S. women s movement had its beginnings in 1848 when Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia
Mott called the Seneca Falls Convention in New York to discuss the social, civil, and religious
condition and rights of woman (Women s History in the U.S....). Over time, this inspired many women
to stand up for their own beliefs and for the better for women in future generations. During World War
I, the high birth rates led to food and supply shortages, and disease which mainly affected those in
poverty (Putting Margaret Sanger s Ideas in Context). At the time, a woman s life revolved around
bringing food home and onto the table which became an issue with the lack of supplies and the best
foods would be given to men (Comstockery in America). As a nurse visiting, Margaret Sanger
witnessed and met immigrant working mothers who were deeply impacted by unexpected pregnancies
and botched miscarriages (Amory). Margaret Sanger violated the Comstock Act of 1873 of 1873
because she wanted to advocate women s rights which resulted in a conflict between Sanger and the
those against her ideas, and the laws that suppressed her from advocating. As a result, as a
compromise of the amendment of the Comstock Act after she gained support from her article and
supporters which resulted in Planned Parenthood, the ability to distribute contraceptives, and a new
found support for women to have more control over their lives. The Comstock Act in

While these costs have been rising relative to sales, the company believes that its future success will
be a result of its increased knowledge in effectively and efficiently generating traffic. As illustrated in
Exhibit 6, quarterly revenues increased significantly throughout 2004, while traffic acquisition costs
as a percentage of revenues began to decline.
In addition, the financial statements demonstrate that liquidity remains strong. The horizontal balance
sheet illustrates that cash and cash equivalents rose 639% over the three year period beginning with
fiscal year 2002. Furthermore, short term investments increased 1839% over the same period.
These measures are important for a variety of reasons. As Google attempts to become the front runner
in the web search and online advertising industries, it is beginning to face considerable litigation
regarding its advertising policy. Paris courts recently reached a decision surrounding this issue and
luxury goods maker Louis Vuitton. Secondly, as the marketplace witnesses the current success and
growth of Google, it is inherent that more competitors will emerge. These companies may draw
interest in terms of acquisition from Google, potentially complementing current operations. Strong
liquidity will allow the company to handle the presence of lawsuits and the ability to fund such
acquisitions without the need for additional capital through debt or equity financing.

Chosin Reservoir Essay
The Chosin Reservoir Campaign of the Korean War
During the pivotal 1950 battle, 15,000 U.S. soldiers and Marines, alongside another 15,000 UN
soldiers, fought through a force of 120,000 Chinese soldiers to reach the sea some 78 miles away.
During the campaign, U.S. forces successfully evacuated 98,000 refugees while inflicting heavy losses
on the Chinese army. The Marine Corps led the push against a numerically superior Chinese force.
Chosin also called Changjin, campaign early in the Korean War, part of the Chinese Second Offensive
(November December 1950) to drive the United Nations out of North Korea. The Chosin Reservoir
campaign was directed mainly against the 1st Marine Division of the U.S. X Corps, which had
disembarked in eastern North Korea and moved inland in severe winter weather to a mountainous area
near the reservoir. The campaign succeeded in forcing the entire X Corps to evacuate to South Korea,
but the Chinese did not achieve their particular objective of isolating and destroying the 1st Marine
Division. Instead, in a deliberate retrograde movement that has become one of the most storied
exploits in Marine Corps lore, the Marines turned and fought their way down a narrow vulnerable road
through several mountain passes and a bridged chasm until they reached transport ships waiting at the
coast.Following the successful landing of the X Corps at Inch ŏn in September 1950, the United
Nations Command under the direction of U.S. Pres. Harry S. Truman s administration and the UN
General Assembly, pursued the remnants of the communist Korean People s Army into North Korea.
On the orders of Gen. Douglas MacArthur, commander of all allied forces in the UNC, the U.S.
Eighth Army crossed the 38th parallel the prewar border on October 7 and advanced up the western
side of the Korean peninsula toward P yŏngyang, the capital of the Democratic People s Republic of
Korea. At the same time, MacArthur redeployed the X Corps on amphibious ships around the
peninsula to Korea s east coast. The X Corps commanded by Maj. Gen. Edward M. Almond included

packs the Arab a snack for the remainder of his journey. Daru could have starved the Arab or made
him sleep in the shed, but he chooses to treat the Arab with kindness. Daru steps from his place of
power by being kind to the Arab out of fear of being killed by him, rather than genuine hospitality.
While walking to the jailhouse Daru points out two paths the Arab could take; one of the paths goes to
the jailhouse and the other goes to a village of nomads. Daru hands over his power to the Arab by
allowing him to choose his own destiny. Daru leaves the hill and the Arab, and occasionally looks
back to see if the Arab choose a path. Eventually, the Arab does not try to rise in power and follows
his instructions and goes to the jailhouse as

The Benefits of Humor for Our Health Essay
Norman Cousins said, Laughter is a powerful way to tap positive emotions (Moss 1). Humor is
studied by many researchers in sociology, psychology, art, literature, and medicine. When people
wonder whether humor aids in areas other than health, a treasure trove of possible benefits to the
learning or educational community is opened up. Humor can be used as a tool to promote
learning.Research speaks to the many benefits of humor in healing, to its benefits in the classroom or
boardroom, from reducing stress of students or employees, to boosting self esteem and feelings of
camaraderie. Additionally, studies show that those who use humor to convey a message are often more
favorably perceived. Humor helps deliver the presenter s message to ... Show more content on

well. A 2006 article in Academy of Management Perspectives by Eric J. Romero and Kevin W.
Cruthirds reviews the benefits of using humor in the workplace. He advocates taking it more seriously
by making it a multifunctional management tool that can be used to achieve many objectives
(Romero, Cruthirds). The findings encourage a more strategic use of humor, similar to selecting the
proper tool from a toolkit in order to achieve positive outcomes for the organization (Romero,
Cruthirds). Humor can generate benefits in terms of organizational citizenship, managerial behavior
and, workforce creativity. As more studies point to the benefits of humor in the workplace, more
managers are being instructed on how to use this important resource or tool to better manage their

Endangered Species Persuasive Essay
Persuasive Speech
Back in 2014, Corey Knowlton was the target of countless death threats and criticism. The cause for
all of it was his accidental purchase of a hunting permit. He had paid $350,000 at an auction for a
hunting trip to Namibia to kill an endangered species which caused a lot of backlash. The endangered
species was the black rhino. Most people seen this as a harmful move for the black rhino species but
what most people fail to realize is that it is in fact an effort to help improve and preserve the
conservations of these animals.
The amount of money that is raised for these conservations is extremely large. Over $11 million
dollars has been raised to help the Namibian economy and conservations in Namibia. In addition, the

Marijuana Use For Medical And Recreational Purposes
The history of marijuana use goes back thousands of years. Marijuana is a potent, mind altering
substance derived from the Cannabis plant. It has been used for both medical and recreational
purposes. It is a Schedule 1 drug or a controlled substance under federal law in the United States,
which means it is an illegal drug. According to the National Institute of Drug Abuse Center (2014),
marijuana is the number one most commonly used substance among adolescents and synthetic
marijuana is second, which has a severe concern on health (NIDAC, 2014). Research on marijuana for
medical purpose is ongoing. In the United States, the legalization of marijuana has been a debatable
subject in recent years. More and more states are legalizing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Bob Dylan s Poem A Hard Rain s A Gon Na Fall
Songs can be considered the melody of life because artists use songs to express their thoughts and
capture the moment in time. For over 50 years, American rock and roll artist, Bob Dylan influences
his generation through the use of his protest songs (Rollingstone). Dylan s personalized and allusive
songs revolutionized the music industry by allowing music to be an analytical literature in which
people can debate about. Although Bob Dylan wrote A Hard Rain s A Gonna Fall in the summer of
1962, Dylan s song conveys the predicaments of the society in the past and the present (Wikipedia).
Issues related to faith, violence, exploitation and injustice of human are portrayed through the lyrics,
allusions and the other musical elements of A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hard rain can be interpreted as the nuclear atomic rain that is harmful to both the humans and the
environment or it can be the storm of rain. This line that is repeated throughout demonstrates how
humans cannot control the rain. In addition, hyperboles such as roar of a wave that could drown the
whole world (Dylan) shows how water are crucial to the human s survival, but also a danger to the
human s survival because this wave can refer to the deadly tsunami. The personification of the seven
sad forests (Dylan) on seven continents also allows the listeners to sympathize with the singer and
understand the effects of human activities that are destroying the nature. Furthermore, Dylan uses
natural elements such as thunder that is the warning to rain as a warning to the unfortunate and
miserable future of the world that will be filled with death and violence (Genius). Dylan s
incorporation of god and nature with death also relates to the later part of his life where he
experienced his idol, Woody Guthrie, and himself in near death situations. (Rollingstone) Violence is
another issue that is still going on today and is mentioned in A Hard Rain s A Gonna Fall. Dylan wrote
the song during the Vietnam war and the Cuban Missile Crisis. Thus, this song can be interpreted as a
response to the Vietnam war and the Cuban Missile Crisis or about war in general. The allusion to war

Human Causes Of Extinction And Prevention Of Endangered...
Since the beginning of life itself, some species have lived and prospered while other species have gone
extinct never to be seen again by mankind. Because of this, some would claim that extinction is
natural and not significantly problematic to the world that we live in. Others, however, understand that
due to climate change, habitat loss, and poaching, more and more species are becoming endangered
which leads to a chain reaction that can be devastating to ecosystems. Species such as the Chinook
salmon, gorillas, tropical sharks, and polar bears are all directly affected by climate change, species
such as northern spotted owls, Sumatran tigers, and lemurs are greatly harmed due to habitat loss, and
species such as the sea turtle, Javan rhinoceros, African elephant, and the Red Fronted Macaw are all
affected by poaching driving them all closer and closer to becoming extinct.
Bill Freedmen, author of Endangered Species Human Causes Of Extinction and Endangerment notes,
scientists approximate that present extinction rates are 1,000 to 10,000 times higher than the average
natural extinction rate. These distressing numbers should be acted upon to save the endangered species
and avoid the catastrophic change to this planet if these species were to become extinct. In order to
produce change, people need to recognize that habitat loss, climate change, and poaching are all
factors in why our animal species are going extinct. Climate change is best known for its contribution

selected from the Globetrotter s Japan while the other four photographs were chosen from John
Thomson s Illustrations of China and Its People: A Series of Two Hundred Photographs. Moreover, the
photos on the left side depicted the traditional Asian people and places, in contrast with those on the

The two scenes were beautiful in a natural, traditional and exotic way, which was different from
Yokohama s beauty of modernity in picture 2 and 4. Yokohama was one of the seven treaty ports
opened by the Kanagawa Treaty in 1854 and Harris Treaty in 1858. Under the intimidation of America
s steam and coal warships, Japan had no choice but ended its close country policy and gave the U.S.,
later also Britain, the Netherlands, Russia, and France, the access to the seven treaty ports. After a
decade, when the globetrotter tourists visited Japan and pressed the camera shutter, we can see how
those treaty ports, especially Yokohama, were influenced by the West. Picture 2 depicted a main street
of Yokohama. On the left side of the street was a printing office while on the right side of the street,
there was a Cigar store. Cigar was clearly not a native product of Japan, but something introduced
from the West. Another noteworthy detail was that the shop signs of the two stores were both written
in English instead of Japanese. Picture 4 was a portrait of a railway station. Train was a symbol of
technology development and signified Japan was stepping outside of the Biological Old Regime and
start to use steam and fuel as the source of energy. In addition, in the middle of the picture stood a
lampstand. It indicated the use of electricity, and gave viewer a

school and an actual full time job. College is often pricey, so this essay would be targeting namely
those in the lower middle to higher class. Because this demographic is attending school, all of these

Again, it was shown that approximately 70 percent of the federal budget for the war on drugs (again,
the report for the federal budget was statistically manipulated and skewed) was going towards the
imprisonment and law enforcement against the suppliers and users of narcotics. The effects caused by
the imprisonment and armed force against them has sparked violence and civil injustice around the
world. Firstly, look at it from an impoverished family s point of view. The growing and manufacturing
of opium in Afghanistan is their living and their source of what is usually an inadequate income.
When these crops are eradicated and destroyed, and families are destroyed by this; generally violence,
food insecurity/malnourishment, increases in poverty, and a decline in school attendance are all a
result (Barret). It is common knowledge that when things as rudimentary as food security or school
attendance are disrupted, civil injustice has occurred. Or for the layman, things are really bad. For
instance, the drug cartel crisis in Mexico is the perfect example of what has ensued in part by the drug
war. Drug users in the United States are the biggest customers of the products Mexican cartels have to
offer. Because the drug laws are so harsh in the United States, the drugs were sourced and supplied by
Mexican drug cartels. In the 1990 s, Mexico plunged into a severe economic crisis. The drug trade as

Descriptive Essay About The Cafe
The cafe is a short jaunt from our apartment, a splendid notion to someone who would rather spend
the entire day hiding in her bedroom. Adorned in our jeans, thick hoodies and jackets, we braved the
frigid weather. As soon as we departed from the building, Alice deemed it necessary to add restraints
by the use of her arm linked within mine. As we enter the cafe, the clatter of dishes and a low din of
chatter penetrates my ears, while the scent of pastries mingled with fried food imbues my nostrils. The
warm air saturates my clothing, filling me with gratitude to be out of the cold. Beside me, Alice
flattens her windswept hair as she searches for a free table. A smug smile caresses my lips. Before we
left, I tied my hair back in a messy bun to prevent the menacing wind from ravaging my hair. As I
scrutinise the cafe, I observe patrons occupy each of the cream leathered booths. As my gaze drifts
over to the counter, no stools are available to us. A glimmer of hope materialises. What a shame, we ll
have to go home where I can return to my solitude. However, Alice obliterates that hope the moment
she says, There s a free table at the back. Come on. We slide along opposite benches beside the wide
window that allows the grey sky to filter in. After shedding from my jacket, I rest my hands on the
stainless steel table and interlock my fingers, and observe Alice as she continues to tackle with her
matted hair. Though bumpy, she did manage to tame it enough to tie back into a

audience was introduced to lank and Sly. Sly is similar to Bonnie because he too offers a bit of comic

An Essay On The Parthenon
The Parthenon, a temple of the Doric order, is one of the greatest artistic accomplishments of the fifth
century. The Parthenon is viewed without mythological reference and stands far outside the normal
Greek temple decoration, which is commonly known to derive its subject matter from the mythical
past. (Connelly 53) The Parthenon is different from most other Grecian art of the fifth century and is
truly beautiful. One of the greatest reasons the Parthenon is set apart as a great feat in Grecian art is
due to its different stylization and the fact that the entire temple is built from the finest white marble
throughout the entire piece, including the roof. (Stockstad) The Parthenon is a gorgeous testament to
the Athenian citizenry participating in their annual (or quadrennial) Panathenaic procession. ... Show

of Pentelikon, it is an off white color, is not a very fine marble type (sturdy), and was most likely used

type was the main marble used throughout the Parthenon. The second marble type used on the temple
is known by the name Hynettin, it is bluish in color and was carved on location in Situ and the third
marble type is known as Pernian, these two marble types were used sparingly in comparison to the
Pentelikon but nevertheless were still as important. The other main materials used to pull off this eye

Anthrax (Bacillus Anthracis) Essay
Anthrax (Bacillus anthracis) is an acute infectious disease caused by the spore forming bacterium. The
most common victims of anthrax are warm blooded animals, but it can also infect humans. Anthrax
spores can be produced in a powdery form for biological warfare. When inhaled by humans, these
particles cause respiratory failure and death within a week. Because anthrax is considered to be a
potential agent for use in biological warfare, the Department of Defense (DOD), in 1998, announced it
would begin a systematic vaccination of all U.S. military personnel. (DOD, 1998) Anthrax infection
occurs in three forms: cutaneous (skin), inhalation, and gastrointestinal. B. anthracis spores can

Inhalation: Initial symptoms may resemble a common cold. After several days, the symptoms may
progress to severe breathing problems and shock. Inhalation anthrax usually results in death in 1 2
days after onset of the acute symptoms.
Intestinal: The intestinal disease form of anthrax may follow ingestion of contaminated meat and is
characterized by an acute inflammation of the intestinal tract. Nausea, loss of appetite, vomiting and
fever are followed by abdominal pain, vomiting of blood, and severe diarrhea. Intestinal anthrax
results in death in 25% to 60% of cases. The incubation period is usually within seven days. There are
no reports of the disease spreading from human to human. Direct person to person spread of anthrax
most likely does not occur. Once a person has been infected with anthrax and survived, a second bout
with this disease is unlikely.
To treat anthrax, doctors can prescribe antibiotics. Usually penicillin based antibiotics such as Cipro
are preferred, but erythromycin, tetracycline, or chloramphenicol can also be used. To be effective,
treatment should be initiated early. The disease could be fatal if left untreated. (Sofaer, et al, 1999)

  • 2. Diversity Efforts To increase diversity, employers are permitted to consider race or gender as a factor in selecting employees. Race differences in the workplace force diversification. I personally think that it is necessary. I would never think to hire or not hire someone, because of skin color or race differences. Hiring or not hiring someone, because they have a different skin color is just as wrong. However, because discrimination has occurred, history has created the need for laws to protect working class citizens. Breaking into classifications by race or gender is now common in the U.S. In making employment decisions, I do think that there are ethical factors that create exceptions to the rule. In particular, gender considerations playing an active ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sustainable Design Of Green Logistics Management Sustainable Design of Green Logistics Management in China Based on sustainable development of green logistics in China and the countermeasures (2007), China is especially vulnerable to climate change due to its complex climatic conditions, a fragile ecological environment, a massive population and frequent natural disasters. Insufficient per ca pita resources and very sharp contradictions between development and environment force China to further develop a cycling economy. Green logistics is an important tool for sustainable development. However, logistics in China is in its infant period. Hence, there are some problems, for example, immediate economic benefits to the enterprise and ecological and social benefits faced, which results in negative environmental issues in China. It is worth noting that there is a need for the sustainable logistics system ,inhibiting cause harmful to the environment while forming a modern logistics system that can promote economic. There must be a combination of sustainable development and logistics applying the principles of sustainability in green logistics. • 9. Young Girl Named Scout By Harper Lee In the past, it has been evident that the population of the Southern states had been composed of many different social classes, particularly in the 1930s. In her novel, To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee clearly depicts these social classes and illustrates how diverse they make the population of Maycomb, a fictional town where the story takes place. The main character, a young girl named Scout, does not fully understand the concept of these different social classes and often fails to recognize which one she belongs to. As the story progresses, it becomes known to the reader that Scout is part of the highest social class in Maycomb. However, because of the conditions she is raised in, she does not fit in with a certain group of women that this class is mainly composed of: the Southern belles. Throughout the story, it is evident that some Maycomb women possess the traits of a Southern Belle persona, such as while Scout does not, due to the fact that she grows up without a mother. The term Southern belle refers to a wealthy but well mannered young woman, often characterized by her chaste demeanor and submissive attitude, who tries to reach perfection in almost every aspect of her life. Some of the most important elements to being a Southern belle include grace, manners, breeding, etiquette, and demure behavior. A Southern belle should always be polite and gentle to the people around her and have the capability to make them feel at ease with her friendliness and composure. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Margaret Sanger And The Comstock Act Of 1873 Margaret Sanger and the Comstock Act of 1873 Rough Draft The U.S. women s movement had its beginnings in 1848 when Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott called the Seneca Falls Convention in New York to discuss the social, civil, and religious condition and rights of woman (Women s History in the U.S....). In addition, the financial statements demonstrate that liquidity remains strong. The horizontal balance sheet illustrates that cash and cash equivalents rose 639% over the three year period beginning with fiscal year 2002. Furthermore, short term investments increased 1839% over the same period. These measures are important for a variety of reasons. Chosin Reservoir Essay The Chosin Reservoir Campaign of the Korean War During the pivotal 1950 battle, 15,000 U.S. soldiers and Marines, alongside another 15,000 UN soldiers, fought through a force of 120,000 Chinese soldiers to reach the sea some 78 miles away. During the campaign, U.S. forces successfully evacuated 98,000 refugees while inflicting heavy losses on the Chinese army. The Marine Corps led the push against a numerically superior Chinese force. Chosin also called Changjin, campaign early in the Korean War, part of the Chinese Second Offensive (November December 1950) to drive the United Nations out of North Korea. The Chosin Reservoir campaign was directed mainly against the 1st Marine Division of the U.S. X Corps, which had disembarked in eastern North Korea and moved inland in severe winter weather to a mountainous area near the reservoir. The campaign succeeded in forcing the entire X Corps to evacuate to South Korea, but the Chinese did not achieve their particular objective of isolating and destroying the 1st Marine Division. Instead, in a deliberate retrograde movement that has become one of the most storied exploits in Marine Corps lore, the Marines turned and fought their way down a narrow vulnerable road through several mountain passes and a bridged chasm until they reached transport ships waiting at the coast.Following the successful landing of the X Corps at Inch ŏn in September 1950, the United Nations Command under the direction of U.S. Pres. Since the beginning of life itself, some species have lived and prospered while other species have gone extinct never to be seen again by mankind. Because of this, some would claim that extinction is natural and not significantly problematic to the world that we live in. Others, however, understand that due to climate change, habitat loss, and poaching, more and more species are becoming endangered which leads to a chain reaction that can be devastating to ecosystems. Species such as the Chinook salmon, gorillas, tropical sharks, and polar bears are all directly affected by climate change, species such as northern spotted owls, Sumatran tigers, and lemurs are greatly harmed due to habitat loss, and species such as the sea turtle, Javan rhinoceros, African elephant, and the Red Fronted Macaw are all affected by poaching driving them all closer and closer to becoming extinct. Bill Freedmen, author of Endangered Species Human Causes Of Extinction and Endangerment notes, scientists approximate that present extinction rates are 1,000 to 10,000 times higher than the average natural extinction rate. These distressing numbers should be acted upon to save the endangered species and avoid the catastrophic change to this planet if these species were to become extinct.
