Southern Sea Otter Research Paper
A Southern Sea Otter glides through the seemingly perfect, clear water as you enter the habitat.
Around you there is a tank for Harbor Seals, Catfish, and a field for the tortoises. You walk close to
the water and see three Sea Otters surface and you get your bucket ready. You throw the mussels and
clams into the water at them, thinking about how much you love your job as you watch the people on
the outside of the habitat who are are awe. It s hard to say that this experience could be bad, for the
animals or the worker. Many people claim that zoos are cruel to animals and should be outlawed, but
in reality zoos are necessary because of observation, preventing extinction, and injuries. Scientists all
over the world, go to the zoo to study and observe the animals. Knowing how an animal will react to
something can be crucial to how we treat the animals in the long run. If we want to save a wild species
of animals, shouldn t we know what they eat, how fast they can run, and so on? Dr. Dave Hone
explains, Being able to study animals in zoos where there is less risk and less variables means real
changes can be effected on wild populations with far fewer problems. So according to Dr. Hone, if we

realize it quick enough to do anything about it. If for some reason, elephants went extinct in the wild,
we wouldn t have a problem. If we see a species start to go extinct, we can also know how to help
them and what with from the study of these animals as I explained in the second paragraph. In the

Six Sigma Reflection
The first guest speaker that spoke to our class was David Klug. He came to talk about Six Sigma and
LEAN Integrations. He used to work for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska and this is where he first
started to implement these programs. He no longer works there, but his presentation what over this
company and how they adapted to the Six Sigma and LEAN programs. Right away he said something
that caught my attention and that was that he emphasized that the culture of the business is the key in
implementing these programs and without culture a company will not be successful. We found out
throughout the presentation that that statement was very true. Six Sigma is a methodology that uses
tools to improve an organization. The tools assist in identifying the customer requirements and
conducting data analysis. Lean is a methodology that focuses on streamlining a process of eliminating
waste. The tools help make the process visible which assists in identifying opportunities to optimize
the process flow and reduce time.
Of course the slide that had percentages on it caught my eye due to liking numbers and math so much.
It was interesting for me to hear him talk about what would happen if 99.9% were acceptable. Some of
the examples were like two unsafe plane landings per day at O Hare airport in Chicago and 500
incorrect surgical operations each week . These examples just show that companies are always having
to know what they are doing and what needs to be improved to make sure

Sterilize Mexican American Women
In California, the state with a eugenic programs so intense that it even inspired the sterilization
programs in Nazi Germany, the racist controlling image of the reckless breeder was even more
pronounced. The Eugenics program of California is reported to have been responsible for 20,000
eugenic sterilizations taking place in state institutions, a staggering number in comparison to the total
recorded eugenic sterilizations in the United states which is reported to be 60,000 including
California. Mexican American women were possibly one of the greatest targets of California s
Eugenics program which described Mexican Americans as the states foremost racial problem (Lira

This portrayal of African American women has led to direct mistreat and an encroachment upon their

this time, well known biologist Garret Hardin popularized the idea that receiving government
assistance gave the government ability to sterilize African American women. Harding argued
supporting children gave the government the right to strip their parents of the capacity to produce
more. (Roberts 89). This belief ignited a wave of forced sterilizations across the United states. Women
such as Dorothy Waters directly felt the consequences of the Welfare Queen image. During her last

Current Liabilities And Long Term Liabilities
What is a current liability? From the perspective of a user of financial statements, why do you believe
current liabilities are separated from long term liabilities? Based on your current experience as well as
any additional research you may have done, provide two examples of situations where businesses
collect monies from customers and employees and report these amounts as a current liability. Current
liabilities are obligations that must be settled within 1 year or the operating cycle, whichever is longer
and are usually satisfied by transferring a current asset. (). It includes accounts payable; short term
notes payable, income tax payable, accrued expenses, and portion on long term debt payable. Long
term liabilities are different from current liabilities because it is not due within one year of the balance
sheet. Some of the examples of long term liabilities are bonds payable, long term loans, capital leases,
pension liabilities, postretirement healthcare liabilities, deferred compensation, deferred revenues,
deferred income taxes, and derivative liabilities. It is important to keep current liabilities separate from
long term liabilities in order to get an accurate view of your current asset and to keep track of which
liabilities should be accomplish first. Knowing which liabilities are due with a year and the amount of
assets turning to cash within one year are import to lenders, financial analysts, owners, and executives

The Baroque School Of French Organ
Introduction: Rarely in the documented history of music can we found a collection of compositions
more perfectly tied to an instrument, than that of the Baroque school of French organ composition.
Looking at the earliest examples of music from this period (which stem from even earlier vocal
polyphony), one will find forms and techniques indubitably connected to the organ. By the start of the
sixteenth century, the establishment of colloquial categories of organ composition, and independent
vocal forms, were finally acknowledged. For the following two centuries the technical progression of
the organ in conjunction with musical development, resulted in every stop on Baroque French organs
being given a standardised function. This function was almost always outlined at the beginning of a
score by the composer. Since medieval times French organ building has been well documented and
recorded. Later on, Marin Mersenne compiled a book that outlined music happenings in Paris,
Harmonie Universelle (1636), this book included French organ specifications and designs. Even from
the middle ages, French organs placed an emphasis on tone color. Early French organs had an array of
principals, mixtures and mutations, allowing for the creation of registrations such as Plein Jeu.
However, organs of this time (late 1500s) were restricted a lot by the available wind power (how fast
the boys in the basement could move the bellows!). Fortunately, as we come into the 1600s vast
strides were made in

Fitness centers have become a business and because a workout is necessary, as an every day routine, it
needs to be convenient and close to where people work or live. International Health, Racquet and
Sports club Association identifies that booming fitness clubs are found at the center of marketplaces
where there are a lot of residents and social network. To add on, with Leeds and Peter von Allmen s
evidence in Chapter 6: The Public Finance of Sports, the location maximizes the positive externalities
associated with the fitness franchise. For example, in hotels, busy metropolitan areas like New York
City, and even in universities cost more than a regular membership nearby one s house. In hotels,
fitness centers are usually provided with hotels fee and operate twenty four hours with almost the
same fitness equipment as other fitness centers. As people are traveling from one place to another also
known as leisure time, the days of overeating become obsessive and that is where gym facilities are
being made into profit. The wellness travel kit in hotels often includes mind and body activities,

The Critical Thinking Assignment For Module One
CT #1 Option #2: Sets #2
The Critical Thinking assignment for Module One, Option Two, is a series of five questions pertaining
to Set Theory and Venn diagrams. In short, Set Theory is the notion in which items (e.g., numbers,
colors, people), referred to in mathematics as elements can be grouped into sets in order to organize
and understand elements (Jech, 1971). In relation, Venn diagrams are circular illustrations utilized to
visually express relationships between sets (Grünbaum, 1975). It is imperative to understand the
relation between sets and Venn diagrams in order to fully comprehend Set Theory.
Problem Number One Accompanied by a detailed Venn diagram, question number one prompts Which

Let U = {a, b, c, d, e, f, g}, A= {a, b, c}, B= {c, d, e, f} Find A B . There are three necessary steps to
solve. First, one must find the complement of A, A = {d, e, f, g}. Next, one must solve for the
complement of B, B = {a, b, g}. Now, the problem solver has the critical information to solve for the
difference (A = {d, e, f, g}) (B = {a, b, g}). Finally, one can deduce A B = {d, e, f}.
Problem Number Four Similarly to problem number one, problem number four returns to the use of a
Venn diagram to solve the problem. However, this time there is an additional complement within the
brackets. Let U = {a, b, c, d, e, f, g}, A= {a, b, c, f}, B= {c, d}, C= {a, d, e, f, g}, find ( B∩C)∩A .
Step one, fill out a three circle Venn diagram including all sets, U, A, B, C. Next, find the complement
of B, B = {a, b, e, f, g}. Then, find the intersection of B and C, ( B∩C) = {a, d, e, f, g}. Next, one must
solve for A , A = {e,g} Lastly, solve for pug in set values and solve, {a, d, e, f, g} ∩ {e, g} = {e. g}.
Therefore, one can now resolve, ( B∩C)∩A = {e, g}.
Problem Number Five Lastly, problem number five again addresses complements. The equation is as
follows, U= {2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18,...}, A= {6, 8, 10} Find A . Remembering the complement is
the set of elements of U that are not elements of A, one must solve for A . Therefore, one

The Evolution of Animals Essay
The Evolution of Animals
Eukaryotes come in two grades of organization: single celled (protists) and multicellular (plants,
animals, and fungi). The world today is full of complex multicellular plants and animals: how, why,
and when did they evolve from protists?
Proterozoic Protists
A single celled eukaryote or protist can carry chlorophyll (it can be an autotrophic, photosynthetic,
alga ), it can eat other organisms (it can be an organotrophic, protozoan animal ), or it may do both.
Beginning about 1850 Ma, we find acritarchs, spherical microfossils with thick and complex organic
walls. They are probably dinoflagellates that spent most of their life floating in the plankton.
We know that a very diverse array of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Metazoans are not just multicellular, they have different kinds of cells that perform different functions.
Metazoans are most likely a clade, that is, they all descended from one kind of protist. All metazoans
originally had one cilium or flagellum per cell, for example. Metazoans also share the same kind of
early development. They form into infolded balls of internal cells which are often free to move, and
are covered by outer sheets of cells that form an external coating for the animal: a skin, if you like.
The first metazoans were soft bodied, and we have no fossil record of them. But we can look at the
tremendous variety of living animals and at the geologic record to try to reason out what the first
metazoans might have looked like and what they might have done.
There are only three basic kinds of metazoans: sponges, cnidarians, and worms. One can imagine
scenarios for the divergence of the three great metazoan groups. All of them solved the problem of
developing to larger size and complexity, but in different ways.
Sponges evolved by extending the choanoflagellate way of life to large size and sophisticated
packaging. They continued to pump water (and the oxygen and bacteria they take from it) through
their tissues, in internal filtering modules.
Cnidarians (or coelenterates), including sea anemones, jellyfish, and corals, are built mostly of sheets
of cells, and they exploit the large surface area of the

The Effects Of Natural Disasters
Believe it or not, there are certain parts of the country where natural disasters are just apart of the day
to day activity. In other words, it s something residents are familiar with. On the contrary, natural
disasters are events that can cause other residents to experience traumatic stress according to the Ohio
University. Throughout the West Coast, for example, there are earthquakes. The East and Gulf coast,
on the other hand, experience hurricanes. Then throughout the heartland of our country, there are those
violent rotating columns of air we call tornados that rip homes to pieces in a matter of minutes.
Although these are just a few of disasters, the reality is a disaster like floods, wildfires, winter storms,
and hail can happen at any time. So, with this in mind and given how unpredictable mother nature is,
it s always a good idea to take steps toward reducing your risk of injury by protecting your home. In
return, you and your family will be safer, and your home will be ready to withstand the fight against
those harsh weather conditions. Here are some steps to get started:
Create a Digital Cloud: When the time comes to evacuate your home, there s a good chance you might

detachment from loved ones and society  homelessness  reckless behaviors  suicide, and drug
and alcohol related disorders  deaths. Compared to the average citizen, combat Veterans are
diagnosed with PTSD at an elevated rate. Combat Veterans are four times more likely to be diagnosed
with PTSD compared to the general population. With most Veterans being subjected to multiple
deployments and increased traumatic events the number of combat Veterans has increased compared
to past historical eras of war. More Veterans are returning from deployments and are trying to re
acclimate themselves within society but are drastically overwhelmed with the process and ill prepared
to identify PTSD symptoms for what they are. In 2017, there are currently 19,998,799 veterans in the
United States and Michigan s population accounts for 589,326 of those Veterans . The war era
Veterans most likely to be affected by PTSD are Vietnam and Post 9/11 Veterans. According to the

Essay about Drug Testing For Missouri Welfare Recipients
On 30 January 2011, the Missouri House of Representatives passed a bill and sent it to the senate that
would require drug testing for those receiving state Temporary Assistance for Needy Family (TANF)
funds. Funding from food stamps, medicare, and public housing would not be affected by this bill
(Keller House). According to Columbia Tribune reporter Rudi Keller, the bill is very similar to the
Arizona law which is the only other state that tests welfare recipients. Missouri and Arizona would use
a questionare and interview which would determine which applicants to test. The two states are also
similar in their caseload of 45,017 people on assistance in Arizona and 42,885 in Missouri. The state
would not be obligated to provide treatment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Keller s article, the law would protect children. It would discourage parents from using
drugs which would create a better home environment. It would also ensure that state money would be
used for supporting families, not recreational drugs (Keller). Rep. John McCaherty said The bill will
show the state expects TANF recipients to be responsible with public money. (Qtd. in Keller). The
idea behind those that support this legislation is that the state is responsible for ensureing that taxpayer
s money doesn t ultimately end up buying illegal substances and drug testing is an effective means to
ensure this. As with all political issues, there are those on the other side of the fence. People oppose
this legistlation for various reasons: from constitutionality to cost. According to a study done by the
American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), welfare recipients are no more likely to use drugs.
Furthermore, placing a requirement to be tested may place a stigma upon those receiving welfare
which would be counterproductive to their relief (Drug Testing). An editorial by Henry Waters in the
Columbia Daily Tribune, the bill is the government attempting to punish a class of people who are
presumed worthless (Waters). Another reason people oppose this legislation is the cost. The ACLU
study reports the average cost of a drug test at $42 per person. There are less invasive and cheaper
methods to

What Is The Compromise Of The Korean War
The Korean War was fought between North Korea (aid of China and the Soviet Union) and South
Korea (aid of the United States). The Korean War started June 25, 1950 when North Korean forces
invaded South Korea. The Korean War ended on July 27, 1953 with the Korean War armistice.
The reason why the Armistice is such a great compromise is because nothing really changed with it.
Both Korean countries still had almost the same amount of land afterwards and kinda the same
borderline. Reason why this is so big is because unlike a normal treaty where there is usually land
change, there was was no land change in the Korean Armistice. Also, with nothing really changing
when the Armistice was signed that means that both countries still stayed with the same governments.
Secondly, the Armistice is such a great example of compromise with conflict because the Korean
Armistice never actually ended the Korean War it just ceased fire (Korean Fast Facts CNN). This is a
huge thing because it still allows even more compromise in modern days. Since the Armistice never
actually ended the Korean War and only ceased fire if North and South Korea ever wanted wanted to
unification they could that and it would be easier than if they had signed an actual peace treaty (CNN).
The Armistice signing not only ceased fire but the Armistice states that the countries had to pull out all
military personnel from either country. In order to insure the stability of the military armistice so as to

Loss of Innocence in Mamas Don t Let Your Babies Grow Up...
One of my daddy s favorite songs is Mamas Don t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys by
Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. The song is an old southern anthem of the basic tale and fate of
growing up. The song goes on to warn mothers to keep their children safe from the harsh world that
awaits them, in this case it s the world of the west, and it couldn t be more true. Growing up is
inevitable and is a epidemic people have been trying to battle for years, the same way Peter Pan could
not stand to age even a year. With growing up and older, the world around you seems to change within
itself but all that is really changing is you. Your values and morals change along with your opinions.
You begin to see things in a different light and it s as if when you were born, you were born into
complete darkness and as time goes on the light slowly starts to burn from dim to blindingly bright.
Everyone has been growing up for years, even
Scout Finch from fictional Maycomb, Alabama in the novel To Kill A Mockingbird. Scout s journey
from innocence to understanding is one everyone must endure and take on with all the trials and
tribulations that come with life. Most children grow up hearing old stories from their families and sit
at sleepovers in circles telling scary ghost stories and they believe them, just as Scout believed that
inside the house lived a malevolent phantom
(Lee, page 14). As Scout grows forward and the story progresses she learns, after Arthur Boo Radley

The K Ī Ngitanga Movement On The 1860 S
Māori societies rely on a hierarchical system to keep balance within the Iwi (tribe) or Hapū (sub tribe).
The leaders can determine how tikanga (the correct or Māori way of doing things) is defined within
that iwi or hapū so hold a great deal of responsibility. A good leader would have gained mana (power
and authority) from his/her people and would often have whakapapa (genealogy or lineage) which
they gained their mana and leadership skills from (Duncan, 2015). Kaumātua (elders) were often
looked upon as leaders in any community because of their knowledge and advice but a highly
respected leader would also be of direct descent from the atua (ancestor with continuing power, can be
related to gods) or ariki (original chief of the waka). In this essay I will use the Kīngitanga movement
on the 1860 s to show how mana, tikanga and whakapapa are all important concepts for a good Māori
leader to encompass into his role.
Māori society is traditionally arranged in a tiered system within the waka group (those who arrived in
New Zealand on the same waka), iwi, hapū and whānau (family), however colonisation led to the need
for an overarching power and in 1858 the Māori had their first king, Pōtatau Te Wherowhero (Watters,
2 October 2014). The king s job was to collectively look out for all Māori rights and communicate
between the iwi and the government on their behalf. Māori society was organised first from the waka
groups which contained all those of descent from their specific waka.

Essay On Christianity In America
I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it
stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. These are the words that are
said every day by students from elementary school to high school. These words are unfair to a large
part of America, or the non Christians. Some people claim that this is a Christian nation, however
Christianity is not the official religion in America, even though it may be the most popular. Although
71% of America is Christian, the other 29% is forced to pledge to things they don t believe in. Most
Christians today don t go to church or pray at all. They are just Christian because that is what they
were taught as being acceptable while growing up. Christians may rule America, but there is no
ignoring the many people who find this statement offensive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Would you force belief upon a child? Hopefully not. In the schools, kids with a different belief system
are forced to pledge to this, just to honor their country. These kids are bullied by students and even
teachers. Take Nicole Smalkowski for example. She was a girl on a few different Oklahoma sports
teams in her school. After a game they joined in a circle of prayer. She, being an atheist refused to
pray in something she didn t believe in. She, unlike others, stood out for what she believed in. She was
bullied mercilessly by students and teachers. One of her teachers claimed that this was a Christian
nation, and if she didn t like it she could get out. There is a video of her online reciting the Pledge of
Allegiance without the phrase under God. A student then comes up to her and tells her that God
forgave her. To add insult to injury she was kicked off all the teams she was part of and out of the
school because of differing beliefs. Nicole filed a lawsuit and won, claiming the school was making

Genetically Modified Organisms By Margaret Atwood
How far is too far when it comes to genetically modified organisms? Margaret Atwood shares her
view on GMOs in Oryx and Crake. Atwood often expresses distaste for these altered organisms
through her examples of pigoons and other genetically modified foods, which are still relatively new
in our society. Despite more commonly occurring dislike from Atwood, she sees a few positives to
GMOs. Although GMOs can increase food supply with higher yields, genetically modified organisms
should be regulated to a certain extent for the sake of society s overall wellbeing. Because there has
not been enough long term testing on GMOs to detect possible problems, everyone s health could be
suffering. There are few laws regulating genetically modified organisms due to the fact that they have
not been around for a long time. No long term testing has been concluded, therefore there is no
scientific conclusion when it comes to the safeness of genetically modified organisms. Compared to
other countries, the United States regulations on GMOs is relatively favorable towards their
development. According to the Library of Congress, a series of polls conducted from 2001 to 2006
found that the publics understand of biotechnology technology, which produces these genetically
modified foods, was relatively low, and that consumers were relatively unaware of the extent to which
their foods included genetically modified ingredients (United States). Sixty four countries around the
world require labeling of

False Perception Paper
False Perception There are times when correlation between variables appears to present an obvious
causal relationship, however, it is irresponsible for both researchers and the news media to produce
predictions without looking for alternate factors. A good example is decades of reporting on the
relationship between single mother households (independent variable) and rising crime rates
(dependent variable). The preceding example was explored by Philip Cohen (2012) in his article on
the single mom and murder rate relationship during the 1990s, in which he noted, I think single
mothers especially those who were raising kids back in the 1990s deserve an apology from the
conventional wisdom purveyors of that time (para. 2). Beginning with an exploration of the media s
interpretation of this relationship, I will also further examine the correct interpretation, and the policy
implications of Cohen s finding. The Media s Interpretation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Sadly, it appears the media bought into an apparent epidemic and began to publish reports, perhaps
driven by confirmation bias or simply failing to conduct enough investigation. The published reports
in the 1990s cited the cause of rising crime rates as the rising amount of black households with single
mothers that were unable to control their children, instill values, etc. (Cohen, 2012). While I believe it
is not that farfetched to assume there is a relationship between family structure and the youths from
those households committing crime, I also believe there are other factors involved that the media
should have

Manifest Destiny s Sectional Conflict
Manifest Destiny is America s expanding from east to west and whites believed this is what God
ordained them to achieve. Along with Manifest Destiny many believed that slavery was a good thing
and many disagreed. As we gained more territory and expanded into the west our country was divided
over this conflict, whether added states should be free or slave states. Manifest Destiny heavily
influenced our sectional conflict over slavery in politics and geography in the United States.
Our country disputed over whether a new state was going to be a free state or a slave state. When
people wanted Missouri to come in as a slave state in 1820 congress accepted and to balance the
states, Maine was added in as a free state. But to end further disputes

Students Should Have Jobs At School
Topic: Students Should Have Jobs while in College
Opening/Attention:
Nowadays 80% of college students work at least a part time job while pursuing their studies. For some
working while in school is a necessity, for others its simply a desire. No matter the reason there is an
ongoing debate about whether or not students should hold a job while in school. Some say that we
shouldn t because it will affect our grades and the amount of focus we pay to our studies. Those in
favor of working students say that it gives valuable real world experience and teaches money
management. Both sides make valid points
Spoken Link: As a working student myself however I agree with the latter. I believe that working
while in school is a benefit
Emotion/Story:
As I said before for some working is not a necessity but just something they do. In my case though
having a job was and is a necessity. My parents got divorced when I was 8. My mom raised my
brothers and I completely on her own, providing everything she could for all of us. As you can
imagine money was always tight so as soon as I could I began working. I got my first job, which was
at a retail store, when I was 14. I continued to work all through high school and continue to do so now.
While it has been hard at some points balancing school, work, and everything else in my life working
has benefitted me in many ways. Obviously the biggest benefit is the financial aspect of it. Having a
job enables me to not have to rely on support from

How Does Sarty Change
Even though young Sarty despises his father s (Abner) crimes, why does he keep these crimes to
himself and not expose his father? Throughout the text of Barn Burning , Sarty seems to have
repetitive feelings of grief and despair, yet he hesitates to out his father for his crimes. Sarty is hesitant
to out his father for his crimes because he hopes his father will change, he fears his father will harm
him physically or emotionally, and he places a priority on his family s wellbeing before his own. First,
Sarty hesitates to reveal his father s crimes to others because he hopes that his father may change.
Sarty is hoping that his father will change, but without him having to act against his father. This can be
seen when Sarty is astonished by the gargantuan house of Mr. De Spain. There, Sarty thinks; Maybe
he will feel it too. Maybe it will even change him now from what maybe he couldn t help but be.
(Faulkner, 40) He wants his father to change because he is tired of the life that his father is making
him and his family live. Sarty and his family have moved 12 times within the past year. Each move,
based on the past two moves, is more than likely based off the fact that Sarty s father has either burned
another barn or damaged someone else s property again. Plus, on top of that, Abner never seems to get
his family out of this pit of despair. It s a never ending cycle. Although Sarty is trying to convince
himself that his father will change without force, his father s

Noted to be one of Samuel Barber s most popular piano works, acclaimed pianist Vladimir Horowitz
called Sonata for Piano, op. 26 the first truly great native work in the form and premiered the sonata,
sparking it s rise to fame. Barber was a friend and fan of Horowitz, and found compositional
inspiration through Horowitz s playing by implementing wide pallets of color, flexible tempo changes,
and huge sonorities. In addition, Horowitz found Barber to be one of the few American composers
who knows how to write for the piano. Composed during the late 1940 s, this sonata is very

The dynamic and energetic first movement starts in a different key than it s home key of E flat minor,
and was woven in sonata form. It is known for having many staggering several key and time signature
changes and rhythmic figurations that mostly consist of dotted 8ths and 16ths, triplets, and groups of
16ths while contrasting with very mysterious sounding lyrical themes in between. These alternations
are very unpredictable and constantly keep the listener guessing. The second movement, which is in
rondo form, maintains the mysteriousness of the first movement, but maintains a very playful and
mischievous attitude, rather than an intense and fiery one. It keeps flowing and flowing like water
without stopping to slow down once, all while maneuvering between double and triple meter and
skipping around the range of the keyboard. The third movement s aesthetic is one of heart wrenching
lament through lots of sobbing chromaticism, dissonant shades, and dark, tempestuous chords.
Stylistically, it is the most modern sounding movement of all and employs the 12 tone technique like

Essay On Path Loss Model
Several existing path loss models exist as discussed above among other ones, but the best existing path
loss model with the closest propagation exponent [36], to the measured path loss data, will be chosen
as a reference for the development of the adapted path loss model for a particular environment. Many
related research works have been done in this area.
In [37] path loss models were presented from experimental data collected in Port Harcourt South
South region of Nigeria from 10 existing microcells operating at 876MHz. The path loss models for
the urban and the suburban areas of Port Harcourt were developed from the results of the
measurements. The data were collected using the net monitor application of NOKIA 1265 CDMA

programmed in a Laptop to gather data. The Radio Propagation Simulator (TEMS) was deployed to
record the base station and each test point coordinates (latitudes and longitudes), together with the
Received Signal Strength (RSS) in which the TEMS serves as the Mobile Unit, for this purpose. In
each of the three sectors of the six (6) targets Base Transmitting Stations, Ten (10) different Received
Power measurements were conducted. Variances were observed in the measurements, at the same
distance in the different sectors for all the BTSs which signifies different levels of clutter on the
Propagation path. The path loss exponent, n, was derived statistically through the application of linear
regression analysis technique by minimising in a mean square sense, the difference between the
Measured Path Loss and the Predicted Path Loss. The Receive Signal Strength (RSS) measurements
were applied to determine the Path Loss that characterize Enugu Urban environment.

Dead Wake Quotes
Accelerated English II Quote Analysis In the historical novel, Dead Wake by Erik Larson, the author
composes and reveals the lesser known story of the Lusitania, a passenger liner that was traveling to
England. However, despite the great pride in the Lusitania s greatness, she was sunk by a German U
boat, the U 20, on May 7th, 1915. There are many reasons that people believe that the Lusitania was
sunk, but Larson seemed to most prominently claim that the Lusitania was intentionally sunk in order
to drag America into World War I. These quotes are examples of his claim in the book:
Indeed, these are the great lingering questions of the Lusitania affair: Why, given all the information
possessed by the Admiralty about U 20; given the Admiralty s past willingness to provide escorts to
inbound ships or divert them away from trouble; given that the ship carried a vital cargo of rifle
ammunition and artillery shells; given that Room 40 s intelligence prompted the obsessive tracking
and protection of the HMS Orion; given that U 20 had sunk three vessels in the Lusitania s path; given
Cunard chairman Booth s panicked Friday morning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When analyzing the syntax and diction used in this specific quote, it is obvious that Larson appears to
be very suspicious of the behavior and actions of Room 40. Larson does this by adding slights hints of
sarcasm by the placement of his chosen words to add extra impact and differing meanings to many
words. He also proves his claim by showing how Room 40 was very aware of the situation at hand
and the possible outcome of the Lusitania s lone voyage of the, at the time, dangerous British sea s.
Larson explicitly knows that the Admiralty was very cautious when in regard to boat s such as the
HMS Orion, and knew that the Admiralty was aware of the three previous boat sinkings before the
Lusitania. Larson also questions Room 40 on why no escort was provided for the Lusitania on it s

Essay On Hurricanes
Summary The United States was recently been hit twice by two Category 4 hurricanes in Texas and
Florida, which caused major flooding, houses to be ruined and both states needing a tremendous
amount of clean up. The two hurricanes could cost the U.S. about $290 million. This will offset the
national growth of the economy since August until the rest of the fourth quarter. This will not only
affect the entire economy, but locally with higher unemployment, damage to forms of transportation,
inflation in gas prices, business disturbances and crop loss. It can hurt people all across the country in
some way. For instance, it is going to impact softer consumer spending, higher prices for gas,
groceries and items shipped in and out of ports in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The market prices have inflated greatly due to the limited resources coming in and out of Texas and
Florida. The higher resource prices raise the higher the cost of production. The people affected by the
disaster will begin to act in self interest. Self interest simply means that each economic unit tries to
achieve its own particular goal. Business will try to rebuild fast to start back up and begin to make
profits by supplying products of high demand. People will try to find jobs and acquire the things they
need to rebuild their homes and lives. The government will begin fixing the roads to help the economy
by transportation. Natural disasters can destroy factories and cripple supply chains. This means the
market system must develop methods for assessing and managing risk. In most cases, people would
have insurance to cover the risk of a natural disaster so it does not have to solely rely on out of pocket
money. My opinion on the issues that the hurricanes have caused to the economy is actually very
frightening. It has dramatically impacted the economy as a whole in many ways. It has caused
inflation, unemployment, and has placed a huge bill on the U.S. economy to fix what the hurricanes
have destroyed. Although the people that do not live in the areas affected seem to be fine, they will see
the effects in some way. The article does state that this

Labour market inflexibility in Europe is the main reason why Europe is not as dynamic an economy as
the United States
In not more than 2500 words and not less than 1500, critically discuss the above statement.
Introduction
Today labour markets in Europe and the USA are often compared and discussed. The general view
seems to be that the US has a more dynamic economy, people tend to believe Europeans are worse off
than
Americans. The main reason given for Europe lagging behind the USA economically is Labour market

The advent of the Euro was claimed to make labour markets more flexible. As top economist Michael
Burda said, My predication is that unless an improbable miracle occurs in pan European collective
bargaining, labour markets will become less flexible in the future Cited www.cepr.org/press.
Ten years on and we still have the same problem that Europe does not seem to be flexible enough to
provide an adequate rival to the world superpower the USA. Whilst there appears to be general
agreement that increases in flexibility are necessary to increase the competitiveness of European
Economies, there is no such consensus about what constitutes a flexible labour market Adnett, (1996).
For a long time now Europeans have been told they need to make their labour markets more like the
USA, in the USA things tend to be much more flexible when it comes to hiring and firing . However
many
Europeans do not want a system like that in the USA, as put in an article from The Economist, on
European Unemployment, ...many Europeans reject the American hire and fire model, arguing that it
means wide income inequalities and dismantling the welfare state Neighbourly

Other reasons why Europe is not as dynamic an economy as the USA

Around you there is a tank for Harbor Seals, Catfish, and a field for the tortoises. You walk close to the water and see three Sea Otters surface and you get your bucket ready. You throw the mussels and clams into the water at them, thinking about how much you love your job as you watch the people on the outside of the habitat who are are awe. It s hard to say that this experience could be bad, for the animals or the worker. Many people claim that zoos are cruel to animals and should be outlawed, but in reality zoos are necessary because of observation, preventing extinction, and injuries. Scientists all over the world, go to the zoo to study and observe the animals. Knowing how an animal will react to something can be crucial to how we treat the animals in the long run. If we want to save a wild species of animals, shouldn t we know what they eat, how fast they can run, and so on? Dr. Dave Hone explains, Being able to study animals in zoos where there is less risk and less variables means real changes can be effected on wild populations with far fewer problems. • 4. Six Sigma Reflection The first guest speaker that spoke to our class was David Klug. He came to talk about Six Sigma and LEAN Integrations. He used to work for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska and this is where he first started to implement these programs. He no longer works there, but his presentation what over this company and how they adapted to the Six Sigma and LEAN programs. Right away he said something that caught my attention and that was that he emphasized that the culture of the business is the key in implementing these programs and without culture a company will not be successful. We found out throughout the presentation that that statement was very true. Six Sigma is a methodology that uses tools to improve an organization. The tools assist in identifying the customer requirements and conducting data analysis. Lean is a methodology that focuses on streamlining a process of eliminating waste. The tools help make the process visible which assists in identifying opportunities to optimize the process flow and reduce time. Of course the slide that had percentages on it caught my eye due to liking numbers and math so much. It was interesting for me to hear him talk about what would happen if 99.9% were acceptable. Some of the examples were like two unsafe plane landings per day at O Hare airport in Chicago and 500 incorrect surgical operations each week . These examples just show that companies are always having to know what they are doing and what needs to be improved to make sure ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sterilize Mexican American Women In California, the state with a eugenic programs so intense that it even inspired the sterilization programs in Nazi Germany, the racist controlling image of the reckless breeder was even more pronounced. The Eugenics program of California is reported to have been responsible for 20,000 eugenic sterilizations taking place in state institutions, a staggering number in comparison to the total recorded eugenic sterilizations in the United states which is reported to be 60,000 including California. This portrayal of African American women has led to direct mistreat and an encroachment upon their reproductive rights but subjecting countless African American women to forced sterilizations. During this time, well known biologist Garret Hardin popularized the idea that receiving government assistance gave the government ability to sterilize African American women. Harding argued supporting children gave the government the right to strip their parents of the capacity to produce more. (Roberts 89). This belief ignited a wave of forced sterilizations across the United states. Women such as Dorothy Waters directly felt the consequences of the Welfare Queen image. During her last visit prior to the delivery of child Waters was told by her doctor she had consent to a sterilization operation before he would deliver her baby, saying Listen here, young lady, this is my tax money paying for this baby and Im tired of paying for illegitimate children. • 8. The Baroque School Of French Organ Introduction: Rarely in the documented history of music can we found a collection of compositions more perfectly tied to an instrument, than that of the Baroque school of French organ composition. Looking at the earliest examples of music from this period (which stem from even earlier vocal polyphony), one will find forms and techniques indubitably connected to the organ. By the start of the sixteenth century, the establishment of colloquial categories of organ composition, and independent vocal forms, were finally acknowledged. For the following two centuries the technical progression of the organ in conjunction with musical development, resulted in every stop on Baroque French organs being given a standardised function. This function was almost always outlined at the beginning of a score by the composer. Since medieval times French organ building has been well documented and recorded. Later on, Marin Mersenne compiled a book that outlined music happenings in Paris, Harmonie Universelle (1636), this book included French organ specifications and designs. Even from the middle ages, French organs placed an emphasis on tone color. Early French organs had an array of principals, mixtures and mutations, allowing for the creation of registrations such as Plein Jeu. However, organs of this time (late 1500s) were restricted a lot by the available wind power (how fast the boys in the basement could move the bellows!). Fortunately, as we come into the 1600s vast strides were made in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fitness centers have become a business and because a workout is necessary, as an every day routine, it needs to be convenient and close to where people work or live. International Health, Racquet and Sports club Association identifies that booming fitness clubs are found at the center of marketplaces where there are a lot of residents and social network. To add on, with Leeds and Peter von Allmen s evidence in Chapter 6: The Public Finance of Sports, the location maximizes the positive externalities associated with the fitness franchise. For example, in hotels, busy metropolitan areas like New York City, and even in universities cost more than a regular membership nearby one s house. In hotels, fitness centers are usually provided with hotels fee and operate twenty four hours with almost the same fitness equipment as other fitness centers. As people are traveling from one place to another also known as leisure time, the days of overeating become obsessive and that is where gym facilities are being made into profit. The wellness travel kit in hotels often includes mind and body activities, beauty treatments, yoga classes, and even cross fit training. Also, recreational centers in the greater city across the United States have become evident. • 10. The Critical Thinking Assignment For Module One CT #1 Option #2: Sets #2 The Critical Thinking assignment for Module One, Option Two, is a series of five questions pertaining to Set Theory and Venn diagrams. In short, Set Theory is the notion in which items (e.g., numbers, colors, people), referred to in mathematics as elements can be grouped into sets in order to organize and understand elements (Jech, 1971). In relation, Venn diagrams are circular illustrations utilized to visually express relationships between sets (Grünbaum, 1975). It is imperative to understand the relation between sets and Venn diagrams in order to fully comprehend Set Theory. Problem Number One Accompanied by a detailed Venn diagram, question number one prompts Which region represents (B ∩ C)∩A ? . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Let U = {a, b, c, d, e, f, g}, A= {a, b, c}, B= {c, d, e, f} Find A B . There are three necessary steps to solve. First, one must find the complement of A, A = {d, e, f, g}. Next, one must solve for the complement of B, B = {a, b, g}. Now, the problem solver has the critical information to solve for the difference (A = {d, e, f, g}) (B = {a, b, g}). Finally, one can deduce A B = {d, e, f}. Problem Number Four Similarly to problem number one, problem number four returns to the use of a Venn diagram to solve the problem. However, this time there is an additional complement within the brackets. Let U = {a, b, c, d, e, f, g}, A= {a, b, c, f}, B= {c, d}, C= {a, d, e, f, g}, find ( B∩C)∩A . Step one, fill out a three circle Venn diagram including all sets, U, A, B, C. Next, find the complement of B, B = {a, b, e, f, g}. Then, find the intersection of B and C, ( B∩C) = {a, d, e, f, g}. Next, one must solve for A , A = {e,g} Lastly, solve for pug in set values and solve, {a, d, e, f, g} ∩ {e, g} = {e. g}. Therefore, one can now resolve, ( B∩C)∩A = {e, g}. Problem Number Five Lastly, problem number five again addresses complements. The equation is as follows, U= {2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18,...}, A= {6, 8, 10} Find A . • 12. The Evolution of Animals Essay The Evolution of Animals Eukaryotes come in two grades of organization: single celled (protists) and multicellular (plants, animals, and fungi). The world today is full of complex multicellular plants and animals: how, why, and when did they evolve from protists? Proterozoic Protists A single celled eukaryote or protist can carry chlorophyll (it can be an autotrophic, photosynthetic, alga ), it can eat other organisms (it can be an organotrophic, protozoan animal ), or it may do both. Beginning about 1850 Ma, we find acritarchs, spherical microfossils with thick and complex organic walls. They are probably dinoflagellates that spent most of their life floating in the plankton. Metazoans are most likely a clade, that is, they all descended from one kind of protist. All metazoans originally had one cilium or flagellum per cell, for example. Metazoans also share the same kind of early development. They form into infolded balls of internal cells which are often free to move, and are covered by outer sheets of cells that form an external coating for the animal: a skin, if you like. The first metazoans were soft bodied, and we have no fossil record of them. But we can look at the tremendous variety of living animals and at the geologic record to try to reason out what the first metazoans might have looked like and what they might have done. There are only three basic kinds of metazoans: sponges, cnidarians, and worms. One can imagine scenarios for the divergence of the three great metazoan groups. All of them solved the problem of developing to larger size and complexity, but in different ways. Sponges evolved by extending the choanoflagellate way of life to large size and sophisticated packaging. They continued to pump water (and the oxygen and bacteria they take from it) through their tissues, in internal filtering modules. Cnidarians (or coelenterates), including sea anemones, jellyfish, and corals, are built mostly of sheets of cells, and they exploit the large surface area of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Effects Of Natural Disasters Believe it or not, there are certain parts of the country where natural disasters are just apart of the day to day activity. In other words, it s something residents are familiar with. On the contrary, natural disasters are events that can cause other residents to experience traumatic stress according to the Ohio University. Throughout the West Coast, for example, there are earthquakes. The East and Gulf coast, on the other hand, experience hurricanes. Then throughout the heartland of our country, there are those violent rotating columns of air we call tornados that rip homes to pieces in a matter of minutes. Although these are just a few of disasters, the reality is a disaster like floods, wildfires, winter storms, and hail can happen at any time. So, with this in mind and given how unpredictable mother nature is, it s always a good idea to take steps toward reducing your risk of injury by protecting your home. The idea behind those that support this legislation is that the state is responsible for ensureing that taxpayer s money doesn t ultimately end up buying illegal substances and drug testing is an effective means to ensure this. As with all political issues, there are those on the other side of the fence. People oppose this legistlation for various reasons: from constitutionality to cost. According to a study done by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), welfare recipients are no more likely to use drugs. Furthermore, placing a requirement to be tested may place a stigma upon those receiving welfare which would be counterproductive to their relief (Drug Testing). An editorial by Henry Waters in the Columbia Daily Tribune, the bill is the government attempting to punish a class of people who are presumed worthless (Waters). • 18. What Is The Compromise Of The Korean War The Korean War was fought between North Korea (aid of China and the Soviet Union) and South Korea (aid of the United States). The Korean War started June 25, 1950 when North Korean forces invaded South Korea. The Korean War ended on July 27, 1953 with the Korean War armistice. The reason why the Armistice is such a great compromise is because nothing really changed with it. Both Korean countries still had almost the same amount of land afterwards and kinda the same borderline. Reason why this is so big is because unlike a normal treaty where there is usually land change, there was was no land change in the Korean Armistice. Also, with nothing really changing when the Armistice was signed that means that both countries still stayed with the same governments. Secondly, the Armistice is such a great example of compromise with conflict because the Korean Armistice never actually ended the Korean War it just ceased fire (Korean Fast Facts CNN). This is a huge thing because it still allows even more compromise in modern days. Since the Armistice never actually ended the Korean War and only ceased fire if North and South Korea ever wanted wanted to unification they could that and it would be easier than if they had signed an actual peace treaty (CNN). The song is an old southern anthem of the basic tale and fate of growing up. The song goes on to warn mothers to keep their children safe from the harsh world that awaits them, in this case it s the world of the west, and it couldn t be more true. Growing up is inevitable and is a epidemic people have been trying to battle for years, the same way Peter Pan could not stand to age even a year. With growing up and older, the world around you seems to change within itself but all that is really changing is you. Your values and morals change along with your opinions. You begin to see things in a different light and it s as if when you were born, you were born into complete darkness and as time goes on the light slowly starts to burn from dim to blindingly bright. Everyone has been growing up for years, even Scout Finch from fictional Maycomb, Alabama in the novel To Kill A Mockingbird. Scout s journey from innocence to understanding is one everyone must endure and take on with all the trials and tribulations that come with life. Most children grow up hearing old stories from their families and sit at sleepovers in circles telling scary ghost stories and they believe them, just as Scout believed that inside the house lived a malevolent phantom (Lee, page 14). • 21. The K Ī Ngitanga Movement On The 1860 S Māori societies rely on a hierarchical system to keep balance within the Iwi (tribe) or Hapū (sub tribe). The leaders can determine how tikanga (the correct or Māori way of doing things) is defined within that iwi or hapū so hold a great deal of responsibility. A good leader would have gained mana (power and authority) from his/her people and would often have whakapapa (genealogy or lineage) which they gained their mana and leadership skills from (Duncan, 2015). Kaumātua (elders) were often looked upon as leaders in any community because of their knowledge and advice but a highly respected leader would also be of direct descent from the atua (ancestor with continuing power, can be related to gods) or ariki (original chief of the waka). In this essay I will use the Kīngitanga movement on the 1860 s to show how mana, tikanga and whakapapa are all important concepts for a good Māori leader to encompass into his role. Māori society is traditionally arranged in a tiered system within the waka group (those who arrived in New Zealand on the same waka), iwi, hapū and whānau (family), however colonisation led to the need for an overarching power and in 1858 the Māori had their first king, Pōtatau Te Wherowhero (Watters, 2 October 2014). The king s job was to collectively look out for all Māori rights and communicate between the iwi and the government on their behalf. Māori society was organised first from the waka groups which contained all those of descent from their specific waka. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Atwood often expresses distaste for these altered organisms through her examples of pigoons and other genetically modified foods, which are still relatively new in our society. Despite more commonly occurring dislike from Atwood, she sees a few positives to GMOs. Although GMOs can increase food supply with higher yields, genetically modified organisms should be regulated to a certain extent for the sake of society s overall wellbeing. Because there has not been enough long term testing on GMOs to detect possible problems, everyone s health could be suffering. There are few laws regulating genetically modified organisms due to the fact that they have not been around for a long time. No long term testing has been concluded, therefore there is no scientific conclusion when it comes to the safeness of genetically modified organisms. Compared to other countries, the United States regulations on GMOs is relatively favorable towards their development. According to the Library of Congress, a series of polls conducted from 2001 to 2006 found that the publics understand of biotechnology technology, which produces these genetically modified foods, was relatively low, and that consumers were relatively unaware of the extent to which their foods included genetically modified ingredients (United States). The preceding example was explored by Philip Cohen (2012) in his article on the single mom and murder rate relationship during the 1990s, in which he noted, I think single mothers especially those who were raising kids back in the 1990s deserve an apology from the conventional wisdom purveyors of that time (para. 2). • 30. Dead Wake Quotes Accelerated English II Quote Analysis In the historical novel, Dead Wake by Erik Larson, the author composes and reveals the lesser known story of the Lusitania, a passenger liner that was traveling to England. However, despite the great pride in the Lusitania s greatness, she was sunk by a German U boat, the U 20, on May 7th, 1915. There are many reasons that people believe that the Lusitania was sunk, but Larson seemed to most prominently claim that the Lusitania was intentionally sunk in order to drag America into World War I. These quotes are examples of his claim in the book: Indeed, these are the great lingering questions of the Lusitania affair: Why, given all the information possessed by the Admiralty about U 20; given the Admiralty s past willingness to provide escorts to inbound ships or divert them away from trouble; given that the ship carried a vital cargo of rifle ammunition and artillery shells; given that Room 40 s intelligence prompted the obsessive tracking and protection of the HMS Orion; given that U 20 had sunk three vessels in the Lusitania s path; given Cunard chairman Booth s panicked Friday morning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When analyzing the syntax and diction used in this specific quote, it is obvious that Larson appears to be very suspicious of the behavior and actions of Room 40. Larson does this by adding slights hints of sarcasm by the placement of his chosen words to add extra impact and differing meanings to many words. He also proves his claim by showing how Room 40 was very aware of the situation at hand and the possible outcome of the Lusitania s lone voyage of the, at the time, dangerous British sea s. Larson explicitly knows that the Admiralty was very cautious when in regard to boat s such as the HMS Orion, and knew that the Admiralty was aware of the three previous boat sinkings before the Lusitania. Larson also questions Room 40 on why no escort was provided for the Lusitania on it s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Essay On Hurricanes Summary The United States was recently been hit twice by two Category 4 hurricanes in Texas and Florida, which caused major flooding, houses to be ruined and both states needing a tremendous amount of clean up. The two hurricanes could cost the U.S. about $290 million. This will offset the national growth of the economy since August until the rest of the fourth quarter. This will not only affect the entire economy, but locally with higher unemployment, damage to forms of transportation, inflation in gas prices, business disturbances and crop loss. It can hurt people all across the country in some way. For instance, it is going to impact softer consumer spending, higher prices for gas, groceries and items shipped in and out of ports in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The market prices have inflated greatly due to the limited resources coming in and out of Texas and Florida. The higher resource prices raise the higher the cost of production. The people affected by the disaster will begin to act in self interest. Self interest simply means that each economic unit tries to achieve its own particular goal. Business will try to rebuild fast to start back up and begin to make profits by supplying products of high demand. People will try to find jobs and acquire the things they need to rebuild their homes and lives. The government will begin fixing the roads to help the economy by transportation. Natural disasters can destroy factories and cripple supply chains. This means the market system must develop methods for assessing and managing risk. In most cases, people would have insurance to cover the risk of a natural disaster so it does not have to solely rely on out of pocket money. My opinion on the issues that the hurricanes have caused to the economy is actually very frightening. It has dramatically impacted the economy as a whole in many ways. It has caused inflation, unemployment, and has placed a huge bill on the U.S. economy to fix what the hurricanes have destroyed. Although the people that do not live in the areas affected seem to be fine, they will see the effects in some way. The article does state that this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The advent of the Euro was claimed to make labour markets more flexible. As top economist Michael Burda said, My predication is that unless an improbable miracle occurs in pan European collective bargaining, labour markets will become less flexible in the future Cited www.cepr.org/press. Ten years on and we still have the same problem that Europe does not seem to be flexible enough to provide an adequate rival to the world superpower the USA. Whilst there appears to be general agreement that increases in flexibility are necessary to increase the competitiveness of European Economies, there is no such consensus about what constitutes a flexible labour market Adnett, (1996). For a long time now Europeans have been told they need to make their labour markets more like the USA, in the USA things tend to be much more flexible when it comes to hiring and firing . However many Europeans do not want a system like that in the USA, as put in an article from The Economist, on European Unemployment, ...many Europeans reject the American hire and fire model, arguing that it means wide income inequalities and dismantling the welfare state Neighbourly Lessons (2002).
