Schools Need 21st Century Materials And Resources
Schools need 21st century materials and resources to serve 21st century students. There needs to be
a change in ideology regarding the function of the library in todays society. For centuries, libraries
have remained essentially separate, even competing with one another to establish and maintain the
greatest collection, and now they need to recast themselves as platforms rather than storehouses.
(Palfrey, 2015) With the introduction of the internet and online information libraries need to
rebrand themselves. Libraries around the world can now share information with one another in real
time, and the competition for resources has ended. That said, there is still value in networking with
other agencies devoted to educationand information. John Palfrey, author of Biblio Tech suggests
that, Libraries must act as ambitiously networked institutions, connecting their network effectively
with partner intuitions: archives, historical societies, museums, and other cultural heritage
organizations. (2015) More agencies are partnering up to give their patrons access to the best and
most credible information.

#Learning Commons
The year of the Learning Commons
is ablaze on social media. Teacher librarians are embracing technology as a way to reach new
audiences and share resources. The social media of choice for these tech savvy teachers is Twitter,
and their hashtag is YearLC. (Loertscher, D., Koechlin, C., 2015) Twitter is being used as a
marketing tool to rebrand

Steps For More Effective Pay For Performance
Five Steps to More Effective Pay for Performance
It?s hard to pick up a newspaper without reading about another major employer who has decided to
abandon the use of performance ratings altogether. In a recent survey of North American employers
conducted by Willis Towers Watson, 8%, have eliminated ratings entirely while another 29% are
either planning or considering such a move.
North American organizations are restless for change. Seventy three percent report that they are
planning to make some kind of change to their performance management approach. Nearly one third
of organizations report they have already changed or plan to broaden the focus of performance
management to include other aspects of performance, such as future potential, leaving
compensation practitioners wondering if we are ?paying? for a performance definition that is
outdated.
The ?pay for performance? story is no different. Eighty percent of employers give the two most
popular pay for performance vehicles, merit pay and annual incentives, low marks for effectiveness.
The majority indicate that true pay for performance differentiation is not materializing in the most
purposeful pay for performance program of all: annual incentives.
While organizations are rethinking their performance management approach, it may also be time to
rethink and modernize pay for performance. Here are some ?health check? steps to follow.
Define what performance means for your organization. For some business models, a

Effective Training Program Essay
Exercise is done by majority of people in order to improve one s health and fitness. Everyone is
able to improve their own health and fitness by exercising in order to achieve proficient physical
abilities. Not only can an individual perform and commit to particular activities for personal health,
but also purposes such as sport performance, body size, strength and conditioning, etc; all of which
can be achieved from specific exercises performed consistently with the appropriate nutrition and
rest in place. Athletes typically do exercisein order to become proficient at their own fitness and
specified skills of their sport. Thus if all individuals perform exercise, we can refer even those that
do not compete at sports as being athletes in respective of their fitness and becoming proficient at it;
the difference being individuals training for only their personal well being. The most important

Thus, a training program must be utilized to help adapt the body to perform specific tasks at a
certain level. An effective training program is essential in order to maximize results over time, and
programs can be adjusted to the goals of the individual. There are 4 major programs that can be
viewed: periodization, interval training, fartlek training, and calisthenics; widely used systems of
exercise training. This report will examine the structure of each program, and their major benefits
and drawbacks.
The first training program is called periodization. This program divides the training process into
specific phases or mesocycles, over a certain amount of time, focusing the manipulation of training
variables such as loads, sets, and repetitions, in order to maximize training adaptations. Selye s
General Adaptation Syndrome was the classic understanding of periodization, stating that systems

Compare And Contrast Squid And Octopus
Kiera L. Bethel

Squids vs. Octopus The ocean animals I am going to compare are octopus and squid. I am
comparing these two things because they are unique ocean creatures. I think that it is interesting
how they both catch their prey, and how they live. It is also really interesting to learn what they eat
and how they do things.
The first thing I am comparing is an octopus to a squid. An octopus has 8 tentacles, and uses all of
them to catch their prey. They live in dens on the seafloor. Octopus lose their outer shell and get
a new one back. They also have a round head. Octopus lifespan is 3 5 years. It has two eyes and
four pairs of arms, and like other cephalopods, it is bilaterally symmetric. It has a beak, with its
mouth at the center point of the arms. They feed mainly on worms, crabs, whelks and clams. The
giant Pacific octopus feeds on shrimp, clams, lobsters, and fish, and even larger prey, such as
sharks and birds. It has a beak, with its mouth at the center points of the arms. Octopuses are ocean
creatures that are most famous for having eight arms and bulbous heads. They squirt ink to deter
predators; and being boneless, they can squeeze into (or out of) tight spaces. The water depth in
which they live ranges from the shallow, coastal waters to about about 330 feet deep. The ... Show

Negative Effects Of Social Networking
Student Answer: The use of social networking comes with mixed reviews because this tool can
be used to both grow a company and potentially harm a company . Companies that utilize social
networks can benefit form the influx of customers. Using social network platforms allow the
customer to reach millions of customers. ` The viral nature of social networking encourages all
the people who are connected to you to share what they like, plan to attend, or want to participate
in` (Minerof, 2010). In the case of Facebook, you can see the pages, companies, campaigns, and
events your friends like and plan to participate in . Seeing these actives on your time line most
times lead you to also look at the company. These is a great marketing tool. `Social networking
does have its pitfalls` (Minerof, 2010).Companies that allow their employees to access Facebook
may be creating opportunities for unethical practice, especially when employees overly engage
during work hours. Employees can sometimes over engage in infrequent status updates, game
applications and viewing online images and videos. Blurring the lines between personal and
business use (Minerof, 2010). Allowing employees to use social networks for work related
activities causes distractions from social media that makes the negative impact of such media on
productivity to outweigh the benefits (Minerof, 2010). The internet may be a distraction from work

A Report On The Company s Welcome Back At Underwriting A...
Welcome back. Last week we looked at underwriting a $250K high yield transaction through the
eyes of an independent lessor. Our existing customer, RedBet LLC, had properly paid off two
short term leases with us, leaving us a small exposure on a third lease (total exposure had been
$320K). RedBet is now coming back to financeof $250K in vacuum tank trailers, a sale that is
very important to our preferred vendor. RedBet is an oilfield servicing firm headquartered in New
Mexico. We asked, Would you do this deal? Why or why not?
As much as we appreciate our lessee, we know that it s even more important for us to value our
preferred vendor. With the oil business in decline and our vendor needing to close every sale,
this transaction may make or break our relationship with the vendor (who we think could find
another funding source to do this deal). In spite of the oil industry downturn, we want to retain
this vendor relationship because (a) the vendor is also offering us high quality non oilfield
transactions, (b) the cyclical oil business will eventually come back, (c) this vendor s originations
have been very profitable for us (high yield and excellent performanceв€’so far), (d) we don t
have a concentration in oilfield exposures, and (e) good vendor relationships like this are hard to
develop.
In addition, with a yield 17%, the transaction could generate substantial income for us. So instead
of categorically declining this oil industry transaction, we look for a way to get

snow was glistening white and quite untouched by any other people for there was no lemon

bottom of the hill my little brother jumped up and announced that it was the best ride he had ever

scaled a mountain in a blizzard. And much to my surprise my little brother was untouched.

conspirators. On the way to the Senate house Artemidorus tells Caesar to read this scroll

Caesar ends up being murdered after ignoring all of the warnings. Caesar ignores all of the
warnings about not coming to the Senate House on March 15th. It ends up being the day he

conspirators are Brutus, Cassius, Casca, Trebonius, Ligarius, Decius, Metellus, and Cinna.
Julius Caesar sits in his chair like usual and is approached by none other than one of the
conspirators Metellus and he says Is there no voice more worthy than my own, To sound more
sweetly in great Caesar s ear For the repealing of my banished brother? (937). While Metellus is
asking this all of the other conspirators are getting closer surrounding Caesar and joining in, in the
asking for Publius Cimber to return. The conspirators know that this is an outrageous thing to ask

Universal Health Care System Of Universal Healthcare
Individuals who reside in countries practicing a system of universal health care have access to the
health services they require, which, consequently, leads to overall healthier populations. Such
health services include, amongst other things, prevention promotion, treatment, rehabilitation and
palliative care.(who.org) These services are provided without the risk of monetary adversity or
destitution for those who use them. Ease of access to health facilities and care in turn leads to
healthier people. Universal health caresystems bring the entire populace into contact with good
quality services and health professionals, in addition to medicines and technologies that aid in the
diagnosis and treatment of medical problems. In order to meet the urgent well being needs of the
population, such systems employ a people centered combined care approach to treatment that
incorporates:
Information programs which support healthy lifestyles and avoidance of sickness
early detection of chronic conditions
capability to treat diseases
assistance for patients in convalescence and
provision, where needed, of sympathetic palliative care (who.org)
The ambition of universal health is always to deliver a growing number of health services over time
and to guarantee that populations have opportunities to participate in strategic preventive health
programs. In this way, the goal of countries that provide universal health care is to continually work
and strive to maintain healthier

The Theme Of Love In Sonnet 116
The theme of love is presented in different ways by various poets through the use of diverse
linguistic techniques, such as metaphorical and emotive language, and personification to express
their strong viewpoints on love. Many poets, including Shakespeare, believe that love is
spontaneous and immeasurable. However, other poets such as Carol Ann Duffy bring out the
negative consequences of love. She believes love starts and stops, one minute you are together and
the other you are isolated. She emphasises the intimidating and overpowering aspect of love.
Overall, the poets present three focal aspects of love which are; love, separation, and betrayal.
In the poem Sonnet 116 , Shakespeare highlights love as being everlasting and the key part ... Show

European American Exploration
European Exploration The fifteenth and sixteenth centuries were a period of exploration and
expansion for the powerful european monarchies, this change and the reasons for it affected
european and american society s. A nation had to be well established and strong before it could
explore and expand outward, this means that the europeans had to make changes themselves.
Many christian european orders wanted to spread the christian religion to the native americans of
the new world and also made some money from the towns they established. The Europeans were
also in search of resources and a way to make their native currencies, many times the native
americans were affected in the process. European nations had to be established and strong before
they could partake in exploration and expansion. The Portuguese first to explore and expand did it

Age In Instinct Attention Analysis
The role of age in distinct attention mechanisms

The role of age in distinct attention mechanisms
Attention is known as a behavioral and cognitive process of selectively concentrating awareness on
a specific object, issue, or activity, while not focusing on other potential stimuli from the
environment. While the human brain has great capabilities for processing information, it also has
limited capacity. A person cannot attend to all the information being received through all the five
senses at one time. And this capacity is reduced as people get older. Older people tend to have
decreased brain activity in the the brain areas that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Standardized low resolution brain electromagnetic tomography showed that the age related decline
in preparatory activity was associated with reduced activation of medial and superior frontal gyrus
and anterior cingulate gyrus. The results suggest that age related differences in these prefrontal
brain areas reflect declines in preparatory attention and gating of subsequent task related speech
information, especially under conditions of divided attention. These findings may reflect
mechanisms relating to impaired speech perception by older people in cocktail party listening
situations ( Getzman, Golob, Wascher 7). Older adults also preformed significantly worse than the
younger group when they first had to determine the speaker of the target stimulus, focus their
attention on this speaker, and then identify the target company value among the concurrent values.
This nicely reflects the everyday experiences of elders who often report that they can hear that
something has been spoken but cannot understand what has been

Reflection Of Rene And Rene Mora s Life
Rene, Rene Mora; I think that name will forever be engraved on my heart. As a little girl, I
already had my whole life planned out, but what didn t come to plan was being put into juvenile
probation at sixteen. His parents and my mother met in mandatory parenting classes, there, our
parents would sit and compare their children to each other. I had already known of Rene because
we were attending the same high school at the time, and the fact that I would always hear about
him fighting at school, but never would I had imagined that I would end up dating the kid. We
officially met while we were both in bad moments of our lives, but Rene ended up saving me in
every day that a person can be saved.
Sociological imagination is the awareness of the relationship between personal experience and
the wider society; it is understanding that some things in society may lead to a certain outcome.
I like to think it as stepping into someone else s shoes, I always do this before I throw away food
or clothes. Rene suffered with a high tolerance of anxiety; he reacted fast to something while he
was full of anger, and then apologized for it after a short period of time. These days, we
unfortunately still live in a society where some young men think proving themselves to others
makes them real or down. A lot of them don t think abut loosing their freedom or family, until
they are behind a steel door or dead. Our book left out the topic of grief; I feel that many people

Native American Cultural Beliefs
To understand why they celebrate, you have to look into their past to see who they are, where
they ve been. To see what it s like dancing in moccasins. Each nation has a different story, but you
might find that collectively, they celebrate the preservation of a way of life as much as life
itself. To make sense of that, Channel Nine, Harmony Alliance, KCP L, the Anti Defamation
League, McDonald s, and IBM went to the Kickapoo Reservation to talk to Paul Guiseppe, a
tribal elder who is well respected because he has seen a lot. Stated, at one time, this whole
continent, the United States, was our country. It was taken away from us. We was forced to go on.

And they say there s one other thing that keeps it going. The most important person is observing
us and looking at us, and that s Almighty God. And if the dancing and singing in good spirit, he s
going to smile. He says that smile kept the Indian people alive in the past, and it helps them
presently. And as long as it remains, there will be Indian people, people of tradition, people
dancing in moccasins. The connection I can make between the film and the Medicine PPT, is
on slide 22. Where it talks about The Green Corn Festival had been revitalized by Emma Baker
and was the annual focus of tribal activity in Gladys s youth (52). At that celebration, those who
held a special place in the tribal community pounded yokeag. They connected each generation of
Mohegans with ancestors who had done the same act for that same reason for thousands of years
(52). The festival of corn requires a full four seasons of preparation. Yokeag is dried, while
Mohegans sew piles of ribbons, feathers, fringe, and beads into regalia (54). I make these two
connections because Green Corn Festival can be related to the Moccasins dancing. Because of their

The Backbone Of A Recreational Sport And Organization
CHAPTER TWO: REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Chapter Overview
Introduction
The backbone of a recreational sport and organization are the volunteers committed to the success
and continuation of the organization. The most important group of individuals within a youth
sports organization is volunteer coaches (Bouchet and Lehe, pg. 21, 2010). The diversity of a
community organization requires many unique needs to be addressed and serviced. The greater the
diversity of a group, the more likely different individuals with varied backgrounds are required. The
influence of volunteers allows youth teams and leagues to fill their needs (Bouchet and Lehe,
2010). Volunteer recreational sports organizations are then charged with identifying and convincing

Regardless the reason for their involvement, the general disposition of these coaches presents an
opportunity for education and increasing efficacy. Volunteer coaches were sought to have an
intentional disposition to learning for reasons such as inquisitiveness, self efficacy, and open
mindedness (Griffiths and Armour, 2013). Additionally, the disposition of reciprocity for volunteer
coaches to gain knowledge included reasons of cooperation and mutual exchange of information
(Griffiths and Armour, 2013). The review of literature intends to display the research surrounding
volunteer recreational youth sport coaches, the motivators for participation, and the educational
opportunities for this population.
Terms and Definitions A key to defining this group and their responsibilities is to explain their
status. The term volunteer is defined as, persons who did unpaid work (except for expenses)
through or for an organization (USDL, 2015). The nature of a professional, or someone who is paid
for their work, demonstrates an implicit motivator in the payment. The duties and responsibilities
that are performed by the person whether the duties are assigned or created by the person also have
a general connotation. The collection of activities these individuals perform is known in the
literature as volunteering (Stebbins, 2009, Wilson,

background as well would strength a student s ability to successful fill the position within a

schools. It is a small, highly selective private institution and it is also the only top tier national
liberal arts college with an Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business (AAACSB)

Endothtermic And Exothermic Reaction Lab Report
Introduction:
Chemical reactions make new things by rearranging other things. In a chemical reaction, the main
change that occurs relates to the way atoms are bonded to each other, in order to change those
connections, bonds must be broken and new bonds be formed.
It s important to understand that it takes energy to break bonds and that energy is released when
bonds are formed.
Chemical reactions that release energy are called exothermic reactions, these reactions are observed
by an increase in temperature of the reaction mixture.
Chemical reactions that absorb energy are called endothermic reactions, these reactions are
observed by a decrease in temperature of the reaction mixture.
Endothermic and Exothermic reactions release or absorb energy, the graph above shows the way in
which the chemical energy changes.
In this experiment, we investigate the change in temperature caused by adding a chemical substance
into the water and dissolving it. The results recorded in the table below show that our hypothesis is
correct.
Aim:
To investigate temperature changes that occur as a result of exothermic and endothermic reactions.
Hypothesis:
It s predicted that when adding the chemical substance into the water, energy will be released or
absorbed, this will be observed by a temperature change, therefore, there would be an exothermic or
endothermic reaction.
Materials: solid ammonium chloride, solid calcium chloride, 100 ml beaker, water, thermometer.

How Disney Has Changed Their Perception Of Their Business...
When people think of Disney, the think of living in a fairytale and a day they will never forget,
however there are many factors that Disney has to consider for this to be true. Disney has to do
analysis including numerous factors before make their enormous financial decisions. Over their
course in business, Disney has made several costly mistakes that changed their perception of
their business ideas. When Disney decides to build a new location they must take every factor
into consideration. Even when they believe they have covered all the bases, in reality there is no
way to be completely sure in how things will turn out in the future. One example is EuroDisney
and their poor performance. Disney initially believed they built a true masterpiece. They believed
the new location would be just like the Tokyo park; which was a rare example. Furthermore,
Disney was over optimistic in how successful their locations could be compared to Tokyo.
However, they were sadly mistakenin reality. Their creation of EuroDisney was a huge flop,
contrary to the extensive research they left out key factors that destroyed their success. They
disregarded key factors such as competition, cultural differences and environment; these factors
were key to their failure. If Disney would have came in with a different mindset, these factors would
have been taken into consideration. As a result, there would have been gigantic changes in their
marketing strategy. Furthermore there were similar mistakes

Teenagers And The Young Adult Chart
Teenagers are the most perceptive individuals in every society they are just learning and
experiencing the real world without yet developing the mask and filter of adults; they see things
how they are, and they say things the way they are. They still have the innate curiosity of children
without the apathy that seems so rampant among those who actually have the power to change.
This is why it is so important to know how teenagers view the world, because they will be making
up the world in a few decades. There is no better way to know how they think than by examining
the literature they read.
Over the past few years, dystopian novels have topped the young adult charts. It is easy to just
write off the similarities between teenage aimed novels as just a standard story writing formula
for making money. However, by looking deeper into what these similarities really mean, we can
learn that these stories are similar for very important reasons. As Utopian scholar Lyman Tower
Sargent s states, It is particularly important that we understand the dreams and nightmares that are
directed at children and young adults (Hintz Ostry, 234). First, we need to take a look at what
dystopian fictions are, by definition. According to Aristotle, author of the Poetics, all forms of art
perform mimesis. Epic poetry and tragedy, as also comedy, dithyrambic poetry, and most pipe
playing and lyre playing, are all, viewed as a whole, modes of imitation (Aristotle) This concept of
mimesis

Analysis Of The Film The An Inconvenient Truth
em{An Inconvenient Truth }em is a documentary film directed by Davis Guggenheim about the
endeavor of Al Gore, former United States vice president, to convince the audience that global
warming is a severe problem that has influenced the environment and the way humans lived. The
film combines apocalyptic rhetoric with other environment rhetorics, including scientific rhetoric,
utilitarian rhetoric and aesthetic rhetoric, to persuades the audience apocalyptically that
unavoidable and irreparable environment problems will occur and gives the audience a feeling of
powerlessness. And the film, at the same time, tempers apocalypticism to encourage audiences to
confront the global warmingand to convince audiences that they have the ability to help solving the
problem.
hskip 3em
The film uses apocalyptic rhetoric and scientific rhetoric. According to the description in Laura
Johnson s rhetoric review, scientific rhetoric involves statistics and processes, often using charts,
graphs, and the photographs to illustrate data (Johnson 32), and apocalyptic rhetoric gestures in
some way toward future disaster (Johnson 33). To show that the global warming has great influence
on shifts in seasons, Al Gore s slides cited a diagram of a study from the Netherlands about active
periods of birds and caterpillars (An Inconvenient Truth 51:45). This logo warns the audience to
notice the fact that the global warming has affected ecological niches and let the audience imagine

The Argument Over Nuclear Energy
Nuclear energy has many benefits, but do they outweigh the cons? The argument over nuclear
energy has continued for many years. Nuclear power does not emit greenhouse gases and
produces massive amounts of energy, but does produce gargantuous amounts of radioactive
waste. The benefits of nuclear power do not outweigh the cons. Firstly, harmful radioactive waste
is a con. Radioactive waste is concentrated lethally (5). Radioactive waste is very dangerous and
could kill people if not disposed of correctly. If exposed to the waste could cause: radiation
sickness, cancers, and other health problems (5). Also, huge amounts of waste are disposed of at at
time. Which means it would be highly concentrated and High level radioactive waste can

The United States And Health Care
Early in American history, there was a push for a universal health care plan but the politicians of
the day would never allow the federal government that type of power and control. At his time in
American history healthcare was thought to be a personal issue or at least an issue that would be
left to the states or even smaller government agencies. After World War II many politicians tried
and failed to pass a national healthcare plan until Obama Care was passed and forced on the people
of the United States. The reality is that Obama care is not even a health insuranceplan it just
regulates health insurance and forces every citizen to purchase health insurance even if they don
t want to. This paper will show how the United States and health care went from an individual
personal rights issue and worked its way from nothing to several different health care plans and
finally arriving at Obama Care. Although Obama Care will always be up for debate, since
America is always looking for a new and improved health care plan, this will show why the
Affordable Care Act is not the best plan for America.
Obamacare is based on the idea that the young and the healthy will purchase insurance plans.
Obamacare needs these people that in the past have not typically purchased health insurance to
cover the costs of the guarantees that everyone can get health insurance and the promise to lower
the premiums the poor or disabled will have to pay. Obama Care will not work due to the fact that it

Exceptions To The Exclusionary Rule
Grounded in the Fourth Amendment is the Exclusionary Rule that bars illegally seized evidence.
However, modifications or exceptions to the Rule allow, once considered illegally seized evidence,
to be now allow in a court. These exceptions have been met with controversy or repudiation, but are
crucial to the criminal justice system to protect individual s constitutional rights and prosecute the
guilty. These exceptions include the plain view doctrine, independent source doctrine, inevitable
discovery doctrine, and the good faith doctrine. Furthermore, two concepts that are exceptions to
the constitutional requirements are the dying declaration and exigent circumstance. Finally, in
order to elicit a voluntary confession, officers can legally employ deception tactics to misrepresent
information or lie to a suspect to obtain a confession. These exceptions to the Exclusionary Rule
will be examined and expounded on to establish their purpose in allowing evidence into a court.
The plain view doctrine is an exception to the search warrant requirements that allows police
officers to seize evidence, without a search warrant, that they recognize as contraband or used in a
criminal activity that is seen in plain view without having to enter the property or perform a search.
In addition, a corollary to the plain sight doctrine is the plain smell doctrine, that allows if an
officer smells evidence (e.g. marijuana), the officer meets the probable cause requirement to initiate

The United States And Canadian Magazine Dispute
The United States and Canadian magazine dispute was a reaction to the U.S. company Time
Warner s circumvention of Canada s outdated trade laws. In 1965, Canadian tariff code 9958 was
created to prohibit the physical importation of foreign split run periodicals and magazines
(Thomas, 1998). As satellite technology was introduced into the world of publication, in 1993, the
U.S. company Time Warner was able to send the contents electronically via satellite across the
border to a Canadian printer. Time Warner began printing split run Canadian Sports Illustrated
issues. While the electronic border crossing was against the spirit of the 9958 Canadian tariffcode,
the wording did not prohibit the new technology. Instead of amending tariff code 9958, the
Canadian government, in 1995, used Bill C 103 to set an 80% tax on split run advertisements;
thereby, ending split run publications (Thomas, 1998). The Canadian government was primarily
focused on protecting its small market domestic publications. The 80% tax from Bill C 103 was not
intended to create revenue; instead, it was an extreme preventative measure to prevent the
proliferation of foreign publications. The Canadian government was also reacting to the sneaky
methods used by Time Warner to print split run magazines in Canadavia satellite communication
and circumvent the spirit of the tariff codes that govern imports. Had Time Warner approached
Canada with information about trends in communication, perhaps the World Trade

Human Pathogen That Is Responsible For Ulcers And Stomach...

A.INTRODUCTION
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a human pathogen that is responsible for ulcers and stomach
inflammation. The organism had been researched by several scientists around the world since
1875; however none of them was successfully culture it. Until 1982, Dr. Barry Marshall and Dr.
Robin Warren succeeded in observing the colonies, and thus became the first scientists to discover
this bacterium. By self testing, Dr. Marshall drank a liquid that contained H. pylori culture. A few
days later, he got sick with many symptoms such as vomiting and nausea. After ten days, by
undergoing endoscopy, he was able to confirm the role of H. pylori in causing gastritis. Then he

Even though H. pylori is a neutralophile , it can survive in the very acidic environment in the
human stomach due to a variety of acidic adaptive mechanisms, such as the ability to utilize urease
to break down urea Nguyen 2 into ammonia, and thus neutralizing the surrounding acidic
environment. Also, H. pylori contains hydrogenase enzyme, which can oxidize molecules
hydrogen being produced by other gastric bacteria, in order to produce energy. Some other
enzymes that can be utilized by H. pylori are oxidase and catalase , which are also used to test
for the presence of this organism. It can also form biofilm on the gastric mucosa epithelium, which
results in its ability to resist against many antimicrobials. From spiral form, it is able to convert
into coccoid form one of its advantage which helps in its survival and epidemic potential [5].
H. pylori has 4 to 6 lophotrichous flagella which are its favor in motility. Usually, the
enterohepatic and gastric Helicobacter have really strong flagella. Its flagella filaments mainly are
FlaA and FlaB [10].
Like other organisms, its outer membrane is composed of phospholipids and lipopolysaccharide [7].

Definition Of Murder
Every kid grows up being told what is right and what is wrong. Do not take the other kids toys
that is bad. Share your snack that is good. The idea of bad feels elementary; it is something we
have been surrounded by our whole life. However, the term might not be so easily defined.
Murder is considered unmoral in nearly every culture, however every culture sends people to war.
Murder is the act of taking another life, but is defined loosely. Soldiers are not considered murders,
and rightfully so, even though they take lives. Instead of changing the ideas surrounding murder the
definition of murder is changed. What was once considered a violent, cruel act is now seen as
heroism. The circumstances that surround the act define the act itself.

Pride And Tris In Insurgent By Veronica Roth
People, I have discovered, are layers and layers of secrets. You believe you know them, that you

of this book is in some way related to trust. Tris and Tobias, the main characters, are star crossed
lovers who fight against the government for the better. Throughout the book, Tris and Tobias try
to find out the secrets of the government. Some of their friends and family are traitors; they did
not know whom to trust. Tris s brother, Caleb, pretended that he was working with Tris. But to
Tris s surprise, Caleb was leaking their information to the Eruidite. In the end, Tris, Tobias, and

describing her adolescent son and his struggles through school. Throughout the story, the son,
Donny, and the mother, Daisy, reverse their roles. Daisy becomes more dependent of her son while
Donny becomes less dependent of his mother. The mother also assumes the role of a bad student an
a helpless child, whereas Donny slowly gains more control of his mother as she had of him before.

The Language Of An Organization Essay
An association without a language specifically used for communicating is unfathomable. Workers
in an organization utilize language to express and empathize with others opinions, maintain
communication, take care of issues, learn and develop, decide, and monitor records. As the
globalization of business has made corporations and organizations with outposts throughout the
world, language boundaries have developed into many different issues that would have gone
unnoticed on account of domestic organizations, where representatives impart in their primary
language. Given this globalized business environment, it is crucial for multinational corporations to
devise a primarily spoken language. Throughout most of the world, that primary language used in
companies and business is English.
English is a lingua franca, or a common or bridge language as it is often called. Bridge languages
are primarily spoken languages across the world: English, Chinese Mandarin, German, etc.
English is the most prominent language spoken, having 1.5 billion speakers across the world
according to Statista, and Mandarin, the secondary language, has a measly 1.1 billion. This
major difference in speakers has developed the use of English as a major language in trade.
Many companies are undergoing a process termed Englishization which is the process of making
one s company soley process in English. This process is used by companies seeking to join the

With the influence of alcohol and the pressures of others it could lead to more teen pregnancy
which might lead to more abortions or even more children with broken homes and abuse. The
rate of suicide will only go up because people will become depressed by the shame of the things
they did while under the influence. Teens are flaky and most are not consistent on what they
want to do with their lives. They are still discovering who they are and who they want to be. If
they drink, it could ruin their whole future in one way or another. Teenagers should not be
allowed to drink for they are not experienced with driving and do not know how alcohol will
affect them. Some say that since Europe has a low drinking age, the U.S. should follow but the
difference between the U.S. and European drinking laws are that Europeans have a higher age
for when teens can drive. Teens may be allowed to drink at 14, 15, or even 16 but they are not
allowed to get their license until they are 18, teens in America can get their license at 16. If the
drinking age was lowered to 18 that gives them only two years experience driving and so they are
not aware of what alcohol can do to their systems. American teens are thus much more likely to
drive under the influence of alcohol if the drinking age were lowered (ProCon, 2008). States such
as Massachusetts, Michigan, and Maine that have lowered that drinking age had an increase in
alcohol related collisions among the 18 to

Explain causes of the Boxer Rebellion
The Boxer Rebellion occurred as a result of both foreign and domestic internal tensions. These
tensions were the causes of the Boxer Rebellion. China faced terrible natural disasters in 1899 and
these was the main short term on the Boxer Rebellion. These included the flooding of the Yellow

unable to pay their taxes which damaged the economy and millions of Chinese people faced
starvation. These disasters were blamed on the Westerners and fuelled anti foreign feelings and the

foreign exploitation by various countries had continued to escalate to a point that the outright
partitioning of China into international zones seemed very likely and this led to a violent
movement among the Chinese to rid their country of foreign influence. The main long term cause
was the economic hardship China faced in the decades building up to the Boxer Rebellion. These
economic hardships included poverty, unemployment and high taxes. anti Christianity and weak
government. In the hundred years building up to the Boxer Rebellion China s government was
gradually becoming weaker and the economy was dropping. These two long term factors eventually
led to the Boxer Rebellion.

method of temporary banishment by popular vote without trial or special accusation practiced in
ancient Greece (Merriam Webster, Incorporated). In the violence that followed Ephialtes was

The Great Tribulation In The Crucible By Arthur Miller
The tony award winning play The Crucible is a play written by Arthur Miller. The Crucible came to
be in the 1950s, a time where the fear of Communists in the country was rampant and creating
unnecessary chaos through the United States. The hysteria reminded Miller of the Salem Witch

into a hurricane of chaos, leading to multiple catastrophic and unnecessary deaths. The perfect

history. With the conditions seen today, another one of these witch hunts is possible in our modern
day time period. In fact, the Bible foretells of one to happen very soon, described as the Great
Tribulation. Similar to the SalemWitch Trials, the Bible foretells of a time when unstable
conditions would abound, a certain group of people would face persecuted, and people will have to
confront a moral dilemma similar to the one presented in the Crucible.
One could be asking the question, What is the Great Tribulation? The Great Tribulation is a
period of time foretold in the Bible. According to JW.org, the Great Tribulation is the end of the
system of things we live in today. How long it will last is unknown, but it will be very severe and
something unlike any event that s happened today, as seen in Matthew 24:21. To emphasize the
severity of the event, the article describes its seriousness by looking at

Country As A Developing Country
Honestly, one would think that in todays modern world every country should be developed.
However, few realize that there are still many developing countries. Mostly due to ignorance, and
the majority doesn t pay attention to the needs of developing countries. For instance, the only time
a person may think of a developing countryis when the see the commercials on television, and
believes that this must be the only issues facing developing countries. Normally, people visualize
those commercials asking for money to feed, or asking for help of some type of medical
expenses. Take the United States as an example, and often this country would release funds to
foreign aid before their own citizens. Which could easily cause tension amongst the government
and the American people. According to, SAE there are about 137 developing countries, and
countries that earns on average 11,905 or less are a developing country. There are many different
choices when comes to picking a developing country. However, the country of Sierra Leone will
be the country up for discussion. Sierra Leone is one example of what the World Bankconsiders to
be a developing country, and it is in West Africa. As well as, the capital, Freetown
, was founded as a
home for reported former slaves. Currently, Sierra Leone has a population of about 6.1 million
citizens, and on average the life span expectancy is 48 years old male, and 49 years old female.
However, this country s most brutal civil war ended in 2002, and

The Maya Pyramids And The Hanging Garden
Ancient scrolls can tell us so much but compared to our new technology they get overlooked. The
new and old seven wonders have so much in common but people can t always see them. So
showing the similarities amongst a new more advanced world and old modern struggling
civilization is a struggle for many people out there all thinking about the many differences they
hold on the exterior. The interior though has many secrets that are similar to other wonders. Never
judge a book by it s cover like these similarities in the two new wonders connecting with one old.
All of their exteriors are very different but meaning is beneath the surface. The Maya pyramids and

wonders so well it should be put on the new wonders list also to draw attention to the danger it is

Toilet Training Research Paper
For boys and girls alike, the initial trip to the potty (a bowl used by small children as a toilet)
remains a huge deal for both the baby and the parent. It tells us, the parents that our little one is
currently displaying signs of independence. Your little one may show interest in a basic potty, a
potty that sings when you pretend to flush it or in using a standard toilet. Either way, this
demonstrates to you that your baby is now on the right track in the beginning phase of toilet
training. In addition to your eager little one, you will also require plenty of patience, a potty/toilet,
pull ups or underwear and a mattress protector for the toilet training process.
As a parent the key step in Toilet Training is taking your baby s lead.

The Gay Rights Movement Essay
Thesis Statement: The Gay Rights Movement dates back to the 19th century. By 1970 gay and
lesbian organizations existed all over the United States and in other countries all over the world.
Some supporters of the movement would say that our society as a whole has made great strides
towards acceptance of homosexuality. However, gays and lesbians are still fighting for equality in
2009. The issues are vast and widespread, with same sex marriage at the top of the list. In the
world that we live in today one might be surprised to learn how many countries are accepting of
gay and lesbians, as well as how many are not. The world has made progress within the last decade
regarding this issue, but definitely not enough. We need to take steps... Show more content on

Following the ruling more than 18,000 couples married. Prior to the November 4, 2008 election,
a ballot called Proposition 8 was proposed for general election. It called for a ban of same sex
marriages. It passed on November 4, 2008 leaving those previously married couples uncertain of
their marital status. There were numerous demonstrations throughout the nation. Several
lawsuits were also filed. Oral arguments were heard on March 5, 2009 and a decision is
expected within ninety days ( California Proposition 8 ). As we await the decision, many
individuals are speaking out. If the court rules that only existing marriages of same sex couples
are valid, it will be a hollow victory, because we do not want to be the only ones on the Freedom
Train. The California Supreme Court needs to overturn Proposition 8 because what Prop. 8 does
for the first time in American history is to take out of a constitution a group that has been declared
equal by the supreme court (Tyler). LBGT supporters feel the victory must overturn the November
4 ruling as it speaks to a fundamental civil right within our constitution. Same sex marriage is a
controversial and very serious legal issue that needs to be resolved. I disagree with the individual
state rulings. The laws honoring and protecting heterosexual married couples remains the same in
50 states.

1763 To 1776 Dbq Essay
Between the years 1763 and 1776, the British enforced many new laws that caused the colonials
to deepen their resistance. Some of the new laws that caused an uproar involving the colonist
were the Sugar Act , Stamp Act, and eventually the Coercive Acts. I will be talking about the
ways the British Parliament laws intensified colonials resistance to British governing and their
commitment to republican gain. The Sugar Act was passed by Parliament of Great Britain in
April 5, 1764, the Sugar Act was designed by Parliament to raise revenue from the American
colonist. The Sugar Act would tax sugar and molasses which were ingredients used for rum. Great
Britain had several reasons for implementing the sugar act and one reason was to reduce the rate of
tax on sugar and molasses but have British military collect the taxes from all thirteen colonies.
Another reason was to establish British courts for tax violators where a British judge would serve
sentence instead of colonial courts. The Sugar... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Origin Of Pseudotachylite And Its Parent Rock
The objective of this paper is to inform, and educate one in the origin of pseudotachylite and its
parent rock for which it intruded. Pseudotachylite derives from early 1900 s when it was describe
as glassy metamorphosed rock that was almost a tachtylite (Superfaults and Pseudotachylite).
When a group of children slide down a snowy hillside on a wintry day, a process known as
frictional meltingis happening underneath them. At first, they cannot gain enough speed to fulfill
their excitement because of the loosely packed snow. Eventually, their track that they have used
over and over again becomes packed down and looks somewhat more glossy than the snow.
Their tracks are frictional melting. As the weight of their sled is pushed downward by gravity to
the snow packed embankment, the cold dry snow is heated up by the energy of the two masses
rubbing together and the snow melted quickly and was released to the atmosphere after the sled
passed over. In geology, the sled and snow are replaced with plate boundaries that cover the earth
(Mcgoughlin, 1992). Frictional melting has caused scientist to be puzzled in how they formed
considering that the rockwas somewhat molten and exhibits characteristics of formations that are
under low heat and high pressure. In the upper crust, frictional melting can be seen along in
different environments. In some scenarios, it can be visible in areas that prehistoric glaciers were

The Gothic Genre Of Gothic Novels
Gothic genre in the late 18th century was founded by Horace Walpole s. He published The Castle
of Otranto, in 1764, and has been commonly recognized as the first Gothic novel. In this case, the
term Gothic referred to the novel s medieval setting in a castle in Italy, and many of the Gothic
novels that followed would similarly be set in castles from the distant past, often in European
countries still dominated (from an English point of view) by the Catholic Church (www.saylor.org).
As the genre advanced, Gothic expanded to include all kinds of writings that contained mysteries,
from time to time supernatural events; extreme emotions, especially elements of terror; complex
plots with heroines imprisoned in ancient castles or abbeys with... Show more content on

Vivaldi is infatuated by a beautiful girl s sweetness of her voice and the grace of her person, the
girl, being Ellena. In his eyes she is flawless and innocent, he can t stop himself from falling in

Therefore, creating a space of conspiracy which causes Ellena to be more desirable to Vivaldi. The

mysteries, of what beauty hides behind the veil. Therefore, the veil is submersed with sexual desire.

The Process of Adolescent Development Essay
Introduction
Adolescence is a transition which has no fixed time limits. However, the changes that occur at this
time are so significant that it is useful to talk about adolescence as a distinct period of human life
cycle. This period ranges from biological changes to changes in behavior and social status, thus
making it difficult to specify its limits exactly (Damon, 2008). Adolescence begins with puberty,
i.e. a series of physiological changes that lead to full development of the sexual organs and the
ability to breed and sex. The time interval that elapses begins at 11 to 12 years and extends to 18 to
20. However we cannot associate to a 13 with one 18 years. Let us talk about early adolescence
between 11 to 14 years, which coincides ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is hypothesized that the overgrowth of synapses prepares young children to adapt to their
environments. Once it is determined which synapses are used and which are unnecessary, the
excess connections disappear, allowing the brain to work more efficiently. A process known as
myelination also begins early in a child s development. In this process an insulating layer of fat
covers nerve cells. The insulating layer increases the speed at which neurochemical information
moves along the axon, facilitating more rapid and efficient information processing
At the earliest ages, those nerves that involve sensory development become myelinated, followed
by those neurons responsible for motor development. The final area of the brain in which
myelination occurs is in the cortex with the neurons associated with complex thinking skills. This
pattern of brain growth continues through late adolescence (Swanson, 2010). Attention span has
also been linked to myelination. Therefore, children s ability to concentrate and attend to novel
stimuli increases with age and brain development. Because of these important development
differences, the school based practitioner needs to be aware that younger children may need shorter
sessions and more think time to respond than an adolescent.
As noted, children also experience relatively rapid growth in their bodies. By the time a girl
reaches 12, she will likely have entered a period of rapid physical development, including the onset

Shrew And 10 Things I Hate About You Comparison
The Shrew In You
There are many similarities and differences between The Taming of The Shrew and 10 Things I
hate About You. The obvious and main difference is that The Taming of The Shrew was actually
written by William Shakespeare whereas 10 things I Hate About You is not written by William. The
language in the two is a little different though due to the date each was created. A similarity is that
the main characters are the same. The main similarity though is definitely the plot line. The Taming
of The Shrew is a comedy written by William Shakespeare possibly in the year of 1590. It is the
second play that Shakespeare ever wrote. 10 Things I hate About Youwas filmed in 1999. The
movie was directed by Gil Junger and was released on March 31, 1999. Although the film was
later released and the name was changed it still has the same plot line that Shakespeare wrote. So
the movie and play were basically the same except 10 Things I Hate About You is more modern
than the original play. The language between The Taming of The Shrew and 10 Things I Hate
About You is completely different. In the play the language is older and harder to understand due
to the style of it. In the movie the language is actually a lot easier to understand because it is ...

Things I Hate About You she ends up being my favorite character. In the movie she actually has a
good heart throughout the whole thing, some people just aren t able to understand

How Does Ed Byrne Create Humour
Ed Byrne, an Irish stand up comedian, uses various conscious techniques in order to create
humour. When performing, he tends to talk at a fast pace, uses body language and occasionally
uses profanity. In this essay, I will compare both comedian and writer, in how Ed Byrne creates
humour and if it reflects how Sarah Thorne describes how humour is produced in her chapter titled
The Language of Humour (Thorne 2008).
Ed Byrne predominantly discusses everyday life such as, becoming a father, relationships and
ordinary things such as attending the doctor s. Thorne states, humour is based on every day
observations , comedians make witticisms the audience can relate too, they have an understanding
as to where they re coming from and can identify truth in the exaggerated version of these events
Thorne 2008:502). Ed Byrne uses this method in virtually all of his shows as it forms a connection
with the audience as they are seen as equal to one another. Author, Alison Ross states that laughter
comes from the enjoyment in shared human experience. (Ross 1998:106).

The joke is humorous as tin foil and aluminium foil are two different things, therefore the joke is
on Ed Byrne. An English audience would recognise the term tin foil . Sarah Thorne says humour
can become anti social , meaning the audience are left feeling shocked rather than amused. (Thorne
2008: 508). If the geographical identity of the audience were American, the joke would not work as
it s discourteous to suggest everyone dislikes Americans. The rhetorical question combined with
profanity, the pause and then the incongruity signalling the end of the joke, all enhance the
delivery. According to a lecture, part of module 100DEL, the context of the joke defines the
audience, shifting our interpretations of how a joke is understood (Cribb 2015). This means a
comedian has to consider the audience whilst developing their

Analysis of Cyrano de Bergerac as a Romantic Work Essay
Analysis of Cyrano de Bergerac as a Romantic Work
Appeal to emotions, individualism, and intellectual achievement were three important elements of
Romanticism. This essay will explore the degree to which Cyrano de Bergerac exemplifies these
elements of Romanticism.
First and foremost is the appeal to emotions. All of the other facets of romanticism can be related to
the emotional appeal in Cyrano de Bergerac. Because strong emotional appeal is perhaps the most
important method used by the author to create identity with the reader, especially in romantic
works, the actions which elicit the emotional responses must, then, show a great deal about the
character. The character s motives and philosophies can be determined... Show more content on

The reader feels strongly for Cyrano to go for it! and is proud and respectful toward him because of
his magnelephant actions.
Cyrano s actions and the resulting emotional response from the reader, then, portray him as an
individual. During this age of romanticism, this was considered to be the chic thing to do. Here we
have the feeling of the fashionability of Cyrano s actions. He is a moral leader which the people
look up to.
As the play progresses, we are shown various incidents in the play which elicit emotional
responses from the reader: the longing Cyrano has for Roxane; his belief that he can never have
her because of his appearance; a comical intervention as Christian gets a nose up on Cyrano;
Cyrano and Christian working together to court Roxane; the author of the letters to Roxane being
unknown to her; the passionate speech which Cyrano delivers to Roxane from behind the shrub;
the existence of the cadets in such grim conditions; the death of Christian; the final resolution of
Cyrano s love for Roxane and his death.
These emotions are what define the play and make it great.
A second characteristic of romanticism is individualism. Throughout the play, it is regarded as
noble in spirit to be individualistic, and Cyrano demonstrates to this effect repeatedly. His white
plumes of freedom are perhaps the most vivid example of this independent spirit. He openly and
willingly defies the standards set forth by traditional culture in

  • 2. Schools Need 21st Century Materials And Resources Schools need 21st century materials and resources to serve 21st century students. There needs to be a change in ideology regarding the function of the library in todays society. For centuries, libraries have remained essentially separate, even competing with one another to establish and maintain the greatest collection, and now they need to recast themselves as platforms rather than storehouses. (Palfrey, 2015) With the introduction of the internet and online information libraries need to rebrand themselves. Libraries around the world can now share information with one another in real time, and the competition for resources has ended. That said, there is still value in networking with other agencies devoted to educationand information. John Palfrey, author of Biblio Tech suggests that, Libraries must act as ambitiously networked institutions, connecting their network effectively with partner intuitions: archives, historical societies, museums, and other cultural heritage organizations. (2015) More agencies are partnering up to give their patrons access to the best and most credible information.

#Learning Commons
The year of the Learning Commons is ablaze on social media. Teacher librarians are embracing technology as a way to reach new audiences and share resources. The social media of choice for these tech savvy teachers is Twitter, and their hashtag is YearLC. (Loertscher, D., Koechlin, C., 2015) Twitter is being used as a marketing tool to rebrand ... • 3. Steps For More Effective Pay For Performance Five Steps to More Effective Pay for Performance It?s hard to pick up a newspaper without reading about another major employer who has decided to abandon the use of performance ratings altogether. In a recent survey of North American employers conducted by Willis Towers Watson, 8%, have eliminated ratings entirely while another 29% are either planning or considering such a move. North American organizations are restless for change. Seventy three percent report that they are planning to make some kind of change to their performance management approach. Nearly one third of organizations report they have already changed or plan to broaden the focus of performance management to include other aspects of performance, such as future potential, leaving compensation practitioners wondering if we are ?paying? for a performance definition that is outdated. The ?pay for performance? story is no different. Eighty percent of employers give the two most popular pay for performance vehicles, merit pay and annual incentives, low marks for effectiveness. The majority indicate that true pay for performance differentiation is not materializing in the most purposeful pay for performance program of all: annual incentives. While organizations are rethinking their performance management approach, it may also be time to rethink and modernize pay for performance. Here are some ?health check? steps to follow. Define what performance means for your organization. For some business models, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Thus, a training program must be utilized to help adapt the body to perform specific tasks at a certain level. An effective training program is essential in order to maximize results over time, and programs can be adjusted to the goals of the individual. There are 4 major programs that can be viewed: periodization, interval training, fartlek training, and calisthenics; widely used systems of exercise training. This report will examine the structure of each program, and their major benefits and drawbacks. The first training program is called periodization. This program divides the training process into specific phases or mesocycles, over a certain amount of time, focusing the manipulation of training variables such as loads, sets, and repetitions, in order to maximize training adaptations. Selye s General Adaptation Syndrome was the classic understanding of periodization, stating that systems will adapt to any stressors experienced in attempt to meet the ... • 5. Compare And Contrast Squid And Octopus Kiera L. Bethel Mr. Taulbee English 2 20 December 2016 Squids vs. Octopus The ocean animals I am going to compare are octopus and squid. I am comparing these two things because they are unique ocean creatures. I think that it is interesting how they both catch their prey, and how they live. It is also really interesting to learn what they eat and how they do things. The first thing I am comparing is an octopus to a squid. An octopus has 8 tentacles, and uses all of them to catch their prey. They live in dens on the seafloor. Octopus lose their outer shell and get a new one back. They also have a round head. Octopus lifespan is 3 5 years. It has two eyes and four pairs of arms, and like other cephalopods, it is bilaterally symmetric. It has a beak, with its mouth at the center point of the arms. They feed mainly on worms, crabs, whelks and clams. The giant Pacific octopus feeds on shrimp, clams, lobsters, and fish, and even larger prey, such as sharks and birds. It has a beak, with its mouth at the center points of the arms. Octopuses are ocean creatures that are most famous for having eight arms and bulbous heads. They squirt ink to deter predators; and being boneless, they can squeeze into (or out of) tight spaces. The water depth in which they live ranges from the shallow, coastal waters to about about 330 feet deep. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Negative Effects Of Social Networking Student Answer: The use of social networking comes with mixed reviews because this tool can be used to both grow a company and potentially harm a company . Companies that utilize social networks can benefit form the influx of customers. Using social network platforms allow the customer to reach millions of customers. ` The viral nature of social networking encourages all the people who are connected to you to share what they like, plan to attend, or want to participate in` (Minerof, 2010). In the case of Facebook, you can see the pages, companies, campaigns, and events your friends like and plan to participate in . Seeing these actives on your time line most times lead you to also look at the company. These is a great marketing tool. `Social networking does have its pitfalls` (Minerof, 2010).Companies that allow their employees to access Facebook may be creating opportunities for unethical practice, especially when employees overly engage during work hours. Employees can sometimes over engage in infrequent status updates, game applications and viewing online images and videos. Blurring the lines between personal and business use (Minerof, 2010). Allowing employees to use social networks for work related activities causes distractions from social media that makes the negative impact of such media on productivity to outweigh the benefits (Minerof, 2010). • 8. A Report On The Company s Welcome Back At Underwriting A... Welcome back. Last week we looked at underwriting a $250K high yield transaction through the eyes of an independent lessor. Our existing customer, RedBet LLC, had properly paid off two short term leases with us, leaving us a small exposure on a third lease (total exposure had been $320K). RedBet is now coming back to financeof $250K in vacuum tank trailers, a sale that is very important to our preferred vendor. RedBet is an oilfield servicing firm headquartered in New Mexico. We asked, Would you do this deal? Why or why not? As much as we appreciate our lessee, we know that it s even more important for us to value our preferred vendor. With the oil business in decline and our vendor needing to close every sale, this transaction may make or break our relationship with the vendor (who we think could find another funding source to do this deal). In spite of the oil industry downturn, we want to retain this vendor relationship because (a) the vendor is also offering us high quality non oilfield transactions, (b) the cyclical oil business will eventually come back, (c) this vendor s originations have been very profitable for us (high yield and excellent performanceв€’so far), (d) we don t have a concentration in oilfield exposures, and (e) good vendor relationships like this are hard to develop. In addition, with a yield 17%, the transaction could generate substantial income for us. So instead of categorically declining this oil industry transaction, we look for a way to get ... The Theme Of Love In Sonnet 116 The theme of love is presented in different ways by various poets through the use of diverse linguistic techniques, such as metaphorical and emotive language, and personification to express their strong viewpoints on love. Many poets, including Shakespeare, believe that love is spontaneous and immeasurable. However, other poets such as Carol Ann Duffy bring out the negative consequences of love. She believes love starts and stops, one minute you are together and the other you are isolated. She emphasises the intimidating and overpowering aspect of love. A nation had to be well established and strong before it could explore and expand outward, this means that the europeans had to make changes themselves. Many christian european orders wanted to spread the christian religion to the native americans of the new world and also made some money from the towns they established. The Europeans were also in search of resources and a way to make their native currencies, many times the native americans were affected in the process. Age In Instinct Attention Analysis The role of age in distinct attention mechanisms Srishti Mittal N15308460 Cognitive Neuroscience Professor Clayton Curtis Spring 2016 The role of age in distinct attention mechanisms Attention is known as a behavioral and cognitive process of selectively concentrating awareness on a specific object, issue, or activity, while not focusing on other potential stimuli from the environment. While the human brain has great capabilities for processing information, it also has limited capacity. A person cannot attend to all the information being received through all the five senses at one time. And this capacity is reduced as people get older. Older people tend to have decreased brain activity in the the brain areas that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Standardized low resolution brain electromagnetic tomography showed that the age related decline in preparatory activity was associated with reduced activation of medial and superior frontal gyrus and anterior cingulate gyrus. The results suggest that age related differences in these prefrontal brain areas reflect declines in preparatory attention and gating of subsequent task related speech information, especially under conditions of divided attention. These findings may reflect mechanisms relating to impaired speech perception by older people in cocktail party listening situations ( Getzman, Golob, Wascher 7). Older adults also preformed significantly worse than the younger group when they first had to determine the speaker of the target stimulus, focus their attention on this speaker, and then identify the target company value among the concurrent values. This nicely reflects the everyday experiences of elders who often report that they can hear that something has been spoken but cannot understand what has been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Reflection Of Rene And Rene Mora s Life Rene, Rene Mora; I think that name will forever be engraved on my heart. As a little girl, I already had my whole life planned out, but what didn t come to plan was being put into juvenile probation at sixteen. His parents and my mother met in mandatory parenting classes, there, our parents would sit and compare their children to each other. I had already known of Rene because we were attending the same high school at the time, and the fact that I would always hear about him fighting at school, but never would I had imagined that I would end up dating the kid. We officially met while we were both in bad moments of our lives, but Rene ended up saving me in every day that a person can be saved. Sociological imagination is the awareness of the relationship between personal experience and the wider society; it is understanding that some things in society may lead to a certain outcome. I like to think it as stepping into someone else s shoes, I always do this before I throw away food or clothes. Rene suffered with a high tolerance of anxiety; he reacted fast to something while he was full of anger, and then apologized for it after a short period of time. These days, we unfortunately still live in a society where some young men think proving themselves to others makes them real or down. A lot of them don t think abut loosing their freedom or family, until they are behind a steel door or dead. Our book left out the topic of grief; I feel that many people suffer with it today, ... Each nation has a different story, but you might find that collectively, they celebrate the preservation of a way of life as much as life itself. To make sense of that, Channel Nine, Harmony Alliance, KCP L, the Anti Defamation League, McDonald s, and IBM went to the Kickapoo Reservation to talk to Paul Guiseppe, a tribal elder who is well respected because he has seen a lot. At that celebration, those who held a special place in the tribal community pounded yokeag. They connected each generation of Mohegans with ancestors who had done the same act for that same reason for thousands of years (52). The festival of corn requires a full four seasons of preparation. Yokeag is dried, while Mohegans sew piles of ribbons, feathers, fringe, and beads into regalia (54). I make these two connections because Green Corn Festival can be related to the Moccasins dancing. • 21. The Backbone Of A Recreational Sport And Organization CHAPTER TWO: REVIEW OF LITERATURE Chapter Overview Introduction The backbone of a recreational sport and organization are the volunteers committed to the success and continuation of the organization. The most important group of individuals within a youth sports organization is volunteer coaches (Bouchet and Lehe, pg. 21, 2010). The diversity of a community organization requires many unique needs to be addressed and serviced. The greater the diversity of a group, the more likely different individuals with varied backgrounds are required. The influence of volunteers allows youth teams and leagues to fill their needs (Bouchet and Lehe, 2010). Regardless the reason for their involvement, the general disposition of these coaches presents an opportunity for education and increasing efficacy. Volunteer coaches were sought to have an intentional disposition to learning for reasons such as inquisitiveness, self efficacy, and open mindedness (Griffiths and Armour, 2013). Additionally, the disposition of reciprocity for volunteer coaches to gain knowledge included reasons of cooperation and mutual exchange of information (Griffiths and Armour, 2013). The review of literature intends to display the research surrounding volunteer recreational youth sport coaches, the motivators for participation, and the educational opportunities for this population. Terms and Definitions A key to defining this group and their responsibilities is to explain their status. The term volunteer is defined as, persons who did unpaid work (except for expenses) through or for an organization (USDL, 2015). The nature of a professional, or someone who is paid for their work, demonstrates an implicit motivator in the payment. The duties and responsibilities that are performed by the person whether the duties are assigned or created by the person also have a general connotation. The collection of activities these individuals perform is known in the literature as volunteering (Stebbins, 2009, Wilson, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Non profits are very similar to small businesses and having a business background as well would strength a student s ability to successful fill the position within a nonprofit. As stated previously, Washington and Lee University is one of the top liberal arts schools. It is a small, highly selective private institution and it is also the only top tier national liberal arts college with an Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business (AAACSB) accredited school of business. Through this school it shows that liberal arts schools are able to get accreditation in the business world and that it is not impossible to be diverse as a school. This school sets the mark of with what it has already done with making the connection with both liberal arts and business. • 23. Endothtermic And Exothermic Reaction Lab Report Introduction: Chemical reactions make new things by rearranging other things. In a chemical reaction, the main change that occurs relates to the way atoms are bonded to each other, in order to change those connections, bonds must be broken and new bonds be formed. It s important to understand that it takes energy to break bonds and that energy is released when bonds are formed. Chemical reactions that release energy are called exothermic reactions, these reactions are observed by an increase in temperature of the reaction mixture. Chemical reactions that absorb energy are called endothermic reactions, these reactions are observed by a decrease in temperature of the reaction mixture. Endothermic and Exothermic reactions release or absorb energy, the graph above shows the way in which the chemical energy changes. In this experiment, we investigate the change in temperature caused by adding a chemical substance into the water and dissolving it. The results recorded in the table below show that our hypothesis is correct. Aim: To investigate temperature changes that occur as a result of exothermic and endothermic reactions. Hypothesis: It s predicted that when adding the chemical substance into the water, energy will be released or absorbed, this will be observed by a temperature change, therefore, there would be an exothermic or endothermic reaction. Over their course in business, Disney has made several costly mistakes that changed their perception of their business ideas. When Disney decides to build a new location they must take every factor into consideration. Even when they believe they have covered all the bases, in reality there is no way to be completely sure in how things will turn out in the future. One example is EuroDisney and their poor performance. Disney initially believed they built a true masterpiece. They believed the new location would be just like the Tokyo park; which was a rare example. Furthermore, Disney was over optimistic in how successful their locations could be compared to Tokyo. However, they were sadly mistakenin reality. Their creation of EuroDisney was a huge flop, contrary to the extensive research they left out key factors that destroyed their success. They disregarded key factors such as competition, cultural differences and environment; these factors were key to their failure. Teenagers And The Young Adult Chart Teenagers are the most perceptive individuals in every society they are just learning and experiencing the real world without yet developing the mask and filter of adults; they see things how they are, and they say things the way they are. They still have the innate curiosity of children without the apathy that seems so rampant among those who actually have the power to change. This is why it is so important to know how teenagers view the world, because they will be making up the world in a few decades. There is no better way to know how they think than by examining the literature they read. Over the past few years, dystopian novels have topped the young adult charts. It is easy to just write off the similarities between teenage aimed novels as just a standard story writing formula for making money. However, by looking deeper into what these similarities really mean, we can learn that these stories are similar for very important reasons. As Utopian scholar Lyman Tower Sargent s states, It is particularly important that we understand the dreams and nightmares that are directed at children and young adults (Hintz Ostry, 234). First, we need to take a look at what dystopian fictions are, by definition. According to Aristotle, author of the Poetics, all forms of art perform mimesis. At his time in American history healthcare was thought to be a personal issue or at least an issue that would be left to the states or even smaller government agencies. After World War II many politicians tried and failed to pass a national healthcare plan until Obama Care was passed and forced on the people of the United States. The reality is that Obama care is not even a health insuranceplan it just regulates health insurance and forces every citizen to purchase health insurance even if they don t want to. Although Obama Care will always be up for debate, since America is always looking for a new and improved health care plan, this will show why the Affordable Care Act is not the best plan for America. Obamacare is based on the idea that the young and the healthy will purchase insurance plans. In 1965, Canadian tariff code 9958 was created to prohibit the physical importation of foreign split run periodicals and magazines (Thomas, 1998). As satellite technology was introduced into the world of publication, in 1993, the U.S. company Time Warner was able to send the contents electronically via satellite across the border to a Canadian printer. Time Warner began printing split run Canadian Sports Illustrated issues. While the electronic border crossing was against the spirit of the 9958 Canadian tariffcode, the wording did not prohibit the new technology. Instead of amending tariff code 9958, the Canadian government, in 1995, used Bill C 103 to set an 80% tax on split run advertisements; thereby, ending split run publications (Thomas, 1998). The Canadian government was primarily focused on protecting its small market domestic publications. The 80% tax from Bill C 103 was not intended to create revenue; instead, it was an extreme preventative measure to prevent the proliferation of foreign publications. • 43. The Great Tribulation In The Crucible By Arthur Miller The tony award winning play The Crucible is a play written by Arthur Miller. The Crucible came to be in the 1950s, a time where the fear of Communists in the country was rampant and creating unnecessary chaos through the United States. The hysteria reminded Miller of the Salem Witch Trials, the setting of the Crucible, where the paranoia of witches among the Puritans sent the town into a hurricane of chaos, leading to multiple catastrophic and unnecessary deaths. The perfect storm of brewing conditions launched one of the most foolish, traumatizing events in American history. With the conditions seen today, another one of these witch hunts is possible in our modern day time period. In fact, the Bible foretells of one to happen very soon, described as the Great Tribulation. Similar to the SalemWitch Trials, the Bible foretells of a time when unstable conditions would abound, a certain group of people would face persecuted, and people will have to confront a moral dilemma similar to the one presented in the Crucible. One could be asking the question, What is the Great Tribulation? The Great Tribulation is a period of time foretold in the Bible. According to JW.org, the Great Tribulation is the end of the system of things we live in today. Pseudotachylite derives from early 1900 s when it was describe as glassy metamorphosed rock that was almost a tachtylite (Superfaults and Pseudotachylite). When a group of children slide down a snowy hillside on a wintry day, a process known as frictional meltingis happening underneath them. At first, they cannot gain enough speed to fulfill their excitement because of the loosely packed snow. Eventually, their track that they have used over and over again becomes packed down and looks somewhat more glossy than the snow. Their tracks are frictional melting. As the weight of their sled is pushed downward by gravity to the snow packed embankment, the cold dry snow is heated up by the energy of the two masses rubbing together and the snow melted quickly and was released to the atmosphere after the sled passed over. In geology, the sled and snow are replaced with plate boundaries that cover the earth (Mcgoughlin, 1992). Frictional melting has caused scientist to be puzzled in how they formed considering that the rockwas somewhat molten and exhibits characteristics of formations that are under low heat and high pressure. However, the changes that occur at this time are so significant that it is useful to talk about adolescence as a distinct period of human life cycle. This period ranges from biological changes to changes in behavior and social status, thus making it difficult to specify its limits exactly (Damon, 2008). Adolescence begins with puberty, i.e. a series of physiological changes that lead to full development of the sexual organs and the ability to breed and sex. The time interval that elapses begins at 11 to 12 years and extends to 18 to 20. However we cannot associate to a 13 with one 18 years. It is hypothesized that the overgrowth of synapses prepares young children to adapt to their environments. Once it is determined which synapses are used and which are unnecessary, the excess connections disappear, allowing the brain to work more efficiently. A process known as myelination also begins early in a child s development. In this process an insulating layer of fat covers nerve cells. The insulating layer increases the speed at which neurochemical information moves along the axon, facilitating more rapid and efficient information processing At the earliest ages, those nerves that involve sensory development become myelinated, followed by those neurons responsible for motor development. The final area of the brain in which myelination occurs is in the cortex with the neurons associated with complex thinking skills. This pattern of brain growth continues through late adolescence (Swanson, 2010). Attention span has also been linked to myelination. Therefore, children s ability to concentrate and attend to novel stimuli increases with age and brain development. Because of these important development differences, the school based practitioner needs to be aware that younger children may need shorter sessions and more think time to respond than an adolescent. As noted, children also experience relatively rapid growth in their bodies. By the time a girl reaches 12, she will likely have entered a period of rapid physical development, including the onset ... Analysis of Cyrano de Bergerac as a Romantic Work Essay Analysis of Cyrano de Bergerac as a Romantic Work Appeal to emotions, individualism, and intellectual achievement were three important elements of Romanticism. This essay will explore the degree to which Cyrano de Bergerac exemplifies these elements of Romanticism. First and foremost is the appeal to emotions. All of the other facets of romanticism can be related to the emotional appeal in Cyrano de Bergerac. Cyrano s actions and the resulting emotional response from the reader, then, portray him as an individual. During this age of romanticism, this was considered to be the chic thing to do. Here we have the feeling of the fashionability of Cyrano s actions. He is a moral leader which the people look up to. As the play progresses, we are shown various incidents in the play which elicit emotional responses from the reader: the longing Cyrano has for Roxane; his belief that he can never have her because of his appearance; a comical intervention as Christian gets a nose up on Cyrano; Cyrano and Christian working together to court Roxane; the author of the letters to Roxane being unknown to her; the passionate speech which Cyrano delivers to Roxane from behind the shrub; the existence of the cadets in such grim conditions; the death of Christian; the final resolution of Cyrano s love for Roxane and his death. These emotions are what define the play and make it great. A second characteristic of romanticism is individualism. Throughout the play, it is regarded as noble in spirit to be individualistic, and Cyrano demonstrates to this effect repeatedly. His white plumes of freedom are perhaps the most vivid example of this independent spirit. He openly and willingly defies the standards set forth by traditional culture in ...
