This document discusses how GIS can support sustainable forest resource management in Ethiopia. It provides an overview of GIS and its components, as well as its role in forest resource assessment, management planning, monitoring changes in forest cover, suitability analysis, and modeling forest yield. Two current GIS-based research projects are also summarized, focusing on analyzing forest land conversion and identifying suitable lands for economically important tree species.
